Founding Fathers

Quote:

"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It's simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we've been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back."

American Tyrants
When Elizabeth Warren went on MSNBC to deny that she was a member of the 1 percent despite her nearly 15 million dollar net worth, the denial had a cultural element to it. Despite being a millionaire, Warren did not see herself as "wealthy".

The current debate over the 1 percent and the 99 percent is notable mainly for the shifting boundaries that are not based on economics, but on identity. For all its 'Power to the People' antics American liberalism is not a movement of struggling people, there is a reason why the word limousine so often comes before liberal. Its roots lie in an upper class New England strata that relentlessly fought against Southern Baptists and working class Catholic immigrants. Those roots define modern day liberals much more so than the Jacksonian populism that they occasionally try to imitate.

The American liberal is not a populist, he is still a New England preacher, but without a religion to preach. He has a great faith in the virtues of an ordered moral society, even if that ordered moral society would have been completely incomprehensible and unacceptable to his forebears. It is a society based on the virtues of tolerance and the rule of the enlightened.

The inflow of the European left has brought in a strain of power to the people populism, but that has not made the American liberal take seriously the notion that the people whose rights he defends are his intellectual or social equals, no more than the 19th century New York Republicans patting African-Americans on the head while stomping on the Irish viewed either group as equals.

American liberalism has traveled a slightly altered road to get to the same place. But its place is still at the top and everyone else's place is still at the bottom. Its persistent denial of this basic truth leads to the perennial absurdity of millionaires like Elizabeth Warren playing class warrior when the only class they represent is the class of people who work for the government.

The oligarchy which is busy bleeding the country dry does not represent any group of working people anywhere in the country. Not Protestant or Catholic, black or white, or of any other creed or identity. Like every ideology incarnated in a system, it represents its own interests. The Democratic Party is the government party. It exists to create jobs in government, to dispense government subsidies and to expand the power and scope of its organization. It is not fundamentally any different than Putin's United Russia or Israel's Kadima or similar political creatures around the world.

The Daily Email of January 26 offers me an opportunity to remind your readers once more of Rep. RoseMarie Swanger's efforts to derail the implementation of Sharia Law into Pennsylvania and her need of their support.

As you know, Sharia law is the path to totalitarian rule enforced by a fascist based and unrelenting political force known to us all as Islam.

The comment at the bottom of The Blaze article you posted says it all..."Islam is like a cancer, you either defeat it or it will defeat you".

We in Pennsylvania are fortunate to have someone in the Legislature who recognizes the terror of Sharia law. Ms Swanger introduced HB 2029 seven months ago and sought co-sponsors to smooth its passage through committee and a final vote.

Only one Bucks county representative is listed as a co-sponsor, the Honorable Paul Clymer.

We have only a few days left, February 1 is the cutoff date, to change that. I am urging your readers to make it a point to get in their families, friends and neighbors faces about this. It is imperative for the preservation of our State and Nation that Sharia law impementation not only be slowed down but stopped dead in its tracks.

Ask everyone you know to visit, call or email their State Representative to encourage them to contact Rep. Swanger's secretary, Lily Horst at 717-787-2686 or email  her at lhorst@pahousegop.com to be added as a co-sponsor.

A link to HB 2029 is available at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bucksafa11info/message/63

If any proof is needed of the terror that is awaiting America hidden behind the lying smiles of the Islamofascists the reader can peruse the messages at the bucksafa11 group sight.

But don't miss message #59.

An Opportunity to Stand with Israel Virtually for an Evening of Solidarity and Support !

As I know you are well aware, our Jewish Federation in partnership with Hillel of Greater Philadelphia is sponsoring an evening of community solidarity and support for our Jewish homeland at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, February 2nd.  This free event, featuring Harvard Law School Professor Alan Dershowitz as keynoter, is an opportunity for those of us who love Israel to join together on the evening before the start of a three day national BDS (Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel) conference to be held on the University of Pennsylvania campus.
More than 900 people responded to our advertisement about the event in the Jewish Exponent, filling the Annenberg Center to capacity.   Thanks to technological advances, we are pleased to offer a virtual opportunity to stand with Israel this Thursday evening.
Community members who are interested in participating virtually can click to www.livestream.com/jewishphilly at 7:30 p.m. for a live streaming of this important program.

We would truly appreciate any assistance you can afford us in spreading the word about this live stream broadcast to all of your friends, family and colleagues.

Lynn

Kitchen Table Patriots

Sometimes when you stand up to the establishment,
it doesn't always go well.
Bunker Hill - A rabble of patriots up against the most powerful force on the planet. Yea, they lost, but they let the British know that they were a force to be reckoned with.
But that does not mean it is not worth the fight.

There are two ways of interpreting the decision by the Republican State Committee to endorse candidates on Saturday, January 28 at their winter meeting:
  1. The State committee is completely out of touch with the Republican base and especially the grassroots activists (Tea Party) that we should have no respect for them at all.
  2. The fact that there was even a discussion about the appropriateness of endorsing candidates for the primary and that the vote was 200 in favor and 142 against is a sign that the grassroots are beginning the process of changing the political process in Pennsylvania.

We are inclined to believe the second interpretation. As much as we would have liked to have had the PA GOP agree to not endorse and the fact that there was an effort to prevent grassroots leaders from even being in the PA GOP meeting.

There were a dozen or so stories in local media about the controversy over the endorsement process. Here are links to just a few:

There were many grassroots groups that protested the matter (A letter that was given to the Chairman of the PA GOP from these groups is available here). There was also a press conference and a demonstration at the winter meeting.

Does anyone remember anything like this when Pat Toomey ran against Arlen Specter?

We are making a difference. But in order to make a real difference, we need people to get involved in their local committees. To get on the ballot requires 10 signatures from your precinct. We can help with that process. What we need are principled people who are willing to work not only from the outside, but also from the inside where these decisions are made.

Local committee seats are filled during the primary every two years.

State committee seats are filled every four years.

Become a local committee person now ow sign up to work to get a candidate elected now.

We can build a base and run candidates in 2014 for State committee.

This is a long process. We need not only principled individuals, but those with the perseverance to hold on for the long haul.

Here is how Jaime Faucette from Citizens for Constitutional Government put it to a committee person who was thinking of resigning over the issue:

We are not defeated. This was not the war. This was only one battle. And we will persevere to fight another day, and another, and another, committee seat by committee seat, State Committee seat by State Committee seat, in each of our boroughs, townships, and counties, whittling away little by little at this mammoth power structure until in time it crumbles - IF we don't quit now.

The atmosphere is changing. YOU ARE CHANGING IT. But more change is needed.

Here is the way another tea party activist put it:

The people of the movement need to be reminded of what they worked so hard for and this is the time to stand up and "fight the system". This fight is a good thing. It demonstrates true debate and resolution (like how the framers fought over the writing of the constitution) when was the last time we saw Democrats fight over what was best for the people?

There are glimmers of hope. There is a cut in the fabric of "politics as usual".

It will take time to pull back the veil. Grab a knife and grab hold.

WE (that includes YOU) can do this.

Here is the beginning of the letter from the conservative grassroots leaders presented to Chairman Gleason:

Rob Gleason

Chairman, Republican Party of Pennsylvania

112 State Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101

Friday, January 27, 2012

Chairman Gleason,

As grassroots conservative leaders, we are all united in our desire to defeat President Obama and Senator Casey. We were excited by the resounding Republican victories in 2010 and 2011 and the conservative message these candidates espoused.

We are concerned that the Republican State Committee is seeking to make an endorsement in the hotly contested U.S. Senate primary. We believe this would be a mistake as there are many strong candidates in this race.

If you are willing to stand on a street corner with a sign or go to a Townhall meeting and tell politicians how you feel, then you should consider running for your local Republican Committee
NOW

The Kitchen Table Patriots is looking to help the

Dear Patriot,

Carried by Richard Nixon in all five presidential elections and by Ronald Regan all four times he ran, California, where European-Americans are now a shrinking minority, is a state where the Republican Party faces extinction.  John McCain's 2008 general election vote was a mere 36% in California, handing Barack Obama 55 votes of the Electoral College and eclipsing the GOP's capture of the entire mid-West with just one state.

Demographics are destiny.  Many have read Patrick Buchanan's latest best-seller, "Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025."  It is a telling forecast of the decline of the West and what the future may hold.

Here at the Thomas Jefferson Club, we strive to present speakers and issues that you will find nowhere else.  We are a non-partisan, issues-oriented organization and believe in presenting on a variety of challenging topics, including the issues of national identity, immigration and America's historic lineage of Western Culture.

On Sunday, February 12th at 7pm we will present Filip Dewinter, member of the Belgian and European Parliament.  Mr. Dewinter is the leader of Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest), the main opposition party in Belgium.  He will discuss from the front lines the challenges for Western Civilization in Europe and its parallels to the United States.  This event will be held at The Temperance House, 5 South State Street, Newtown, PA.

For a brief overview of Mr. Dewinter and the freedom movement in Europe, please view this video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjoLqlJDgGI.

Another great event of note is this evening (Monday, January 30th) called "Inaugural KTP Tea" with the Kitchen Table Patriots.  The objective of KTP's first "Tea" is to mingle in a less formal setting and bring you up to date on some activities in Harrisburg and Washington.  Also to solicit ideas about what KTP should be doing to champion conservatism right here at home.  The event is free of charge and will be held from 5-7pm at Bobby Simone's Restaurant Loft, 52 East State Street, Doylestown, PA.

All the best,

Jeff McGeary

President, Thomas Jefferson Club

Hey All,

Please spread the word on this panel discussion and consider attending.  As per earlier emails, implementing an exchange in PA is de-facto acceptance of ObamaCare. Other states have refused to implement the exchanges in keeping with the spirit of total resistance.  Nick Pandelides is leading the fight for our side and is on the panel.

There will be more coming out shortly on next steps that individuals and groups can do lobby Harrisburg and exert public pressure to have Pennsylvania's collaboration with ObamaCare ended.  You can follow developments on the following facebook page

THE ISSUE:  The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates that small businesses and individuals must purchase health insurance and obtain government insurance subsidies through state-based federally regulated health insurance exchanges beginning in 2014.  States which do not design and administer federally compliant exchanges will default to a federal system.  A recent PA Insurance Department announcement that a state-based exchange will be created in PA has generated controversy.  Supporters say an exchange designed and administered in PA will serve Pennsylvanians better than one controlled by the federal government.   Opponents say it is inconsistent for the Commonwealth to institute provisions of the PPACA while engaged in the constitutional challenge against the law.  Our experts will present both sides and answer questions to help YOU decide.

The Lehigh Valley COALITION for Health Care Reform is a non-profit, non-partisan grassroots coalition of concerned citizens and health care professionals committed to educating the public about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and other measures and policies impacting America's health.

We want to let you know Philadelphia ZOA's activities concerning the University of Pennsylvania boycott, divestment and sanctions conference (Penn BDS) taking place next weekend  -- as well as a couple good responses.

The Greater Philadelphia District of the Zionist Organization of America has not only been actively engaged in confronting this evil conference but we have been intimately involved in the organized Jewish Community's response and have taken the lead role, through our own ongoing "Buy Israel" campaign, in countering the effort to hurt Israel economically. The organized Jewish community has taken this conference seriously and most of the elements of our community have coalesced to form a unified stance. ZOA has attended and contributed to meetings and conference calls where responses, planning and strategies have been formulated and while there have been points of disagreement, we feel it is important in this instance to speak with one voice. We had input in the official community statement condemning the conference, have been kept apprised of details including the major event with Alan Dershowitz next week and have made suggestions concerning security and other initiatives.

Additionally we have met and spoken with students and partnered with a particularly active student to visit businesses both on campus and around the perimeter  -- with samples in hand -- to encourage them to carry items from Israel in their stores and restaurants. ZOA is making sure and providing -- thanks to the good people of Osem USA -- that there will be items from Israel served at special Shabbat dinners at Penn to coincide with the Penn BDS event. We had a letter encouraging people to "Buy Israel" published last week in the Jewish Exponent.

This conference will be in our area for just a weekend, but the foes of Israel are working all the time to harm Israel and the Jewish people. Therefore we who support Israel must be active beyond the period of this conference. I am attaching a copy of our "Buy Israel" flyer with this email. Please use it, circulate it and print it out and take it with you when you do your shopping.

Fighting Back Against Lawfare
Posted by Jacob Laksin on Jan 26, 2012

FrontPageMag Interviews Award-Winning Film Maker & Author

Brooke Goldstein

FrontPage Interview's guest today is Brooke Goldstein, a New York City-based human rights attorney, author and award-winning filmmaker. She serves as director of The Lawfare Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about and facilitating a response to the abuse of Western legal systems and human rights law. Her award-winning documentary film, The Making of a Martyr, uncovers the illegal, state-sponsored indoctrination and recruitment of Palestinian children for suicide-homicide attacks. To view the trailer, click here. Goldstein is the co-author, with Aaron Eitan Meyer, of the recently published Lawfare: The War Against Free Speech: A First Amendment Guide for Reporting in an Age of Islamist Lawfare.

FP: How does lawfare help to stifle free speech about the threats we face? And how did you become engaged in this subject?

BG: I'm a Canadian by birth but I moved to this country because I wanted to practice law and have a tremendous respect for the American Constitution.  In the United States people enjoy more rights then ever recognized by a governing authority in the history of civilization. Yet there are many Americans who do not know what their rights are under the First Amendment and who don't understand the implications of its guarantor of free speech. For instance, I get calls and emails from people who don't know that blasphemy is not a crime in this country, or that free speech encompasses the right to speak and write truthfully about religion. I've gotten into discussions with bloggers who thought that hate speech was a crime in this country, which it's not. American citizens have a right to speak freely and critically about their government and about religion.  That principle is the cornerstone of liberal democracy and what the founding fathers based the First Amendment on.

You don't have to be a lawyer to understand these rights and people who did not receive a legal education still want to be active citizens. They want to write a blog or an article about, say, their local Muslim Brotherhood-connected chapter or about the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) or about the National Iranian American Council (NIAC). But they're afraid  they're going to be targeted with a lawsuit strategically designed to silence their speech.  And lawsuits, as we know, are expensive.

I co-wrote Lawfare to encourage journalists, bloggers, members of the media and American citizens at large to exercise their rights and speak freely about the most important issues of our time.  The goal of the book is to arm American citizens should they fall victim to such "libel lawfare."  To counter the "chilling effect" on free speech about militant Islam.  The book serves as a very accessible primer on the First Amendment and as an overview of U.S. libel law versus foreign libel law.  It provides case examples of  the brave men and women who have been targeted with malicious lawsuits for publishing works exposing the financiers of terrorism and even for parodying religion (like the Danish cartoons of Mohammad.) There is no place in a free society for such stifling of public dialogue, especially when the speech is related to national security issues. I was not prepared to stand by while groups like the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC)  lobby the U.N. and the U.S. for the resurgence of blasphemy laws.  I recommend the book to anyone who may be remotely in lawfare's harms way or who wants to maintain our precious standards of freedom.

FP: Let's say I am an independent writer who wants to publish something about Islamic radicalism. What I should I do to protect myself from these lawsuits?

BG: Number one, get yourself media liability insurance. Everyone who publishes should have media liability insurance, regardless of the fact that what you may write about is true. The whole point of lawfare is to file a frivolous lawsuit, so that even if you win, in the end you still lose time and money spent defending your rights. Media insurance can cost you  around $1,500 a year, depending on your risk-liability, but it's super-important and an expense well-spent. Number two, always have a second pair of eyes, preferably an attorney, read over your article with the goal of spotting any potentially libelous statements. And always cache websites. Often people put up information that can be used against them on the web and when they realize that they take it down. If you rely on internet articles you need to cache the articles in case those pages are taken down. If you have any concerns, you should call us at The Lawfare Project. We operate as a non-profit and one of our activities is to hook people up with legal counsel if they need it. We also perform libel review, though we always recommend that people get an attorney to represent them, as we are not a law firm, nor do we take on clients. And finally, you should read our book. It provides really simple examples of people who have been sued in the past, how they won, and what you need to do to protect your rights.

Thomas Jefferson: "Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers....a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."

But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it's been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

Did Sen. Dianne Feinstein Reveal...Mossad Chief's Secret Visit?

The Blaze | by Sharona Schwartz | Posted on February 1, 2012 at 1:35am

Traitor FeinsteinIsrael's diplomatic and military correspondents got quite the surprise watching the live feed of the Senate Intelligence Committee when Chairman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) revealed the head of the Mossad had made a secret visit to Washington earlier this week to hold talks with senior U.S. officials.

The item led the "Mabat" main newscast on Israel's government-run network IBA on Tuesday evening and was the headline on Ha'aretz newspaper's website.

Susan G. Komen Foundation Halts Partnership With Planned Parenthood, Creates Bitter Rift

The Blaze | by Tiffany Gabbay | Posted on January 31, 2012 at 8:46pm

Susan G. Komen Foundation Halts Partnership With Planned ParenthoodNEW YORK (The Blaze/AP) - The nation's leading breast-cancer charity, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is halting its partnerships with Planned Parenthood affiliates - creating a bitter rift, linked to the abortion debate, between two iconic organizations that have assisted millions of women.

The change will mean a cutoff of hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants, mainly for breast exams.

Planned Parenthood says the move results from Komen bowing to pressure from anti-abortion activists. Komen says the key reason is that Planned Parenthood is under investigation in Congress - a probe launched by a conservative Republican who was urged to act by anti-abortion groups.

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:

  • Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
  • Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
  • Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care

The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Lou Flanagan, House Bill 934: Voter ID

"My state Rep. Warren Kampf responded to my question about where the Voter ID bill stands in Harrisburg. His response appears at end of this emaiI. It seems clear that unless we apply pressure to the state senate government committee, this bill will go nowhere.
My questions for them are: Where do you stand on the bill? What are you doing to move it out of committee? If you oppose it, tell me why. Who on the committee is against it, and why?

Louis:
Thank you for the email regarding Voter ID (House Bill 934).
The House passed Voted ID on June 23rd. I voted for this bill if you will remember. It is now the responsibility of the Senate to take action to continue to move HB 934 forward.
I would advise you to contact the Senators who comprise the Senate State Government Committee, those in Senate leadership positions and your local Senator to let them know of your desire to move this forward. Also you may ask for an accounting of why this has been held up and not considered.
Please let me know if I can help with other state-related matters.

Voter Cheating

You know, comrades," says Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this - who will count the votes, and how. (Boris Bazhanov's Memoirs of Stalin's Former Secretary,1992, only available in Russian.
Russia's Vladimir Putin is accused of voter fraud and failure to solve problems with health care availability, immigration control, and unsustainable pensions. Sound familiar? Absolutely. Will he lie? Absolutely. But unlike Obama's ACORN, he will probably admit it.

Background

There are several lines of independent evidence for cheating in the 2012 election:

a)     12/30/11, Voter ID: PA House Bill 934

Eric Holder has ordered his staff not to meddle with cases of voter fraud that involve minorities (J. Christian Adams has written widely about such cases), Salina Zito (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) predicted that PA in November '12 will go according to the Philadelphia suburbs, ACORN has both a record for voter scams and operates new sites in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, our State Attorney General is stepping aside, and there is little public information about Mayor Nutter's views on this matter. Meanwhile, there is an early February deadline from our Governor as Republicans in the PA legislature attempt to define a list of acceptable IDs and Democrats cry that minorities and old people can't handle this demand.
I smell more fraud from a bunch- ACORN - already known nationally for fraud and Corbett's February deadline invites some deliberate lapse by the D's...And intrusion by Eric Holder would stall our ID program until after ACORN has done their job for BO ...

b)     Jeffrey Kuhner, Washington Times: BO & Voter ID

"...South Carolina's legislation provides for free ID cards to be given to anyone who needs it. Not one person - white, black or brown - is discriminated against or discouraged from casting a vote at the ballot box. Moreover, the Supreme Court already has ruled on the issue - upholding state voter ID laws. In the 2008 Crawford v. Marion County Election Board decision, the high court held that an Indiana law mandating photo identification at the voting booth was indeed constitutional. If it is good enough for the Supreme Court and the overwhelming majority of the states, then it should be for Mr. Holder as well.
"It isn't. And the reason is simple: The administration is trying to whip up minority frenzy, propagating the myth of widespread ballot suppression..."

c)      Daryl Metcalf, Morning Call: Electoral Integrity (June 18, 2011)

Metcalf is a Republican from Butler County (north of Pittsburgh)
"Pennsylvania has a long and ongoing history of documented voter fraud - pre-dating even the frequently forged signature of Mickey Mouse to at least the election of 1918.
"Of course, no statewide analysis of voter fraud would be complete without briefly documenting the deeply rooted influence of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

d)     Christopher Freind, PA Water Cooler:  No ID, No Vote,... Comprende? (June 21, 2011)

"I am not wealthy, but have recently acquired twenty two domiciles throughout Philadelphia. My real estate prowess has afforded me a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our citizens.
"I can vote twenty-two times.
"You see, I have staked out prime locations, from a cardboard box under the Walt Whitman Bridge to a culvert on Cobbs Creek Parkway to a burnt out shell at 7th and Diamond. Yes, technically, habitating at these locations makes me 'homeless,' but I much prefer the term 'voter-enfranchised.' When you have such a love of democracy, how can anyone have a problem with people who want to vote multiple times, especially the homeless? (Although, in fairness, dead people should only be able to vote once).
http://pawatercooler.com/v3/?tag=philadelphia-voter-fraud

e)     11/7/2011, PA ACORN Lives

"Pennsylvania. ACORN PA has become Pennsylvania Communities Organizing for Change (PCOC) and Pennsylvania Neighborhoods for Social Justice (PNSJ).Both were incorporated on January 8, 2010. On July 26, 2010, PCOC filed for another name - Action United - and the organizations now operate under this name. Current board members and staff of these organizations with former ACORN affiliations include:
* Lucille Prater Holliday, chair (ACORN member and Democratic state house candidate)
* Pat Worrell, co-chair (Chester County, PA ACORN chairman)
* Rosa Chacon, secretary/treasurer (ACORN leader in Harrisburg, PA, profiled in
ACORN's 2005 annual report)
* Fabrico Rodriguez, board member (executive director of Philadelphia Jobs with
Justice)
* Craig Robbins, executive director (ACORN regional director in Philadelphia, PA)
* Maryellen Deckard, southwest regional director (head organizer for ACORN PA)
* Jennifer England, communications director (Pittsburg ACORN spokesperson)
Action United is located  at 846 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130 and 5907 Penn Avenue, Pittsburg(h), PA 15206. The Action United website is www.actionunited.org.
http://www.judicialwatch.org/files/documents/2011/acornspecialreport08222011.pdf

There is even a Secretary of State project in which leftist groups attempt to bias state elections so that "liberal" Secretaries of State are elected. http://truethevote.org/news/does-your-vote-really-count; http://truethevote.org/news/what-is-the-secretary-of-state-project.
There must be some benefit to Republicans if they ignore voter fraud. For example, my acquaintance publishes lists of Republicans who take contributions from unions and refusing to vote against union interests. And conservative Lowman Henry has spoken about the legislative impasse, particularly in the State Senate, produced by about twenty-five who get their money from organized labor.
Thus, Nicole Marrone's conclusion is still valid as is Christopher Freind's:
"The city of Philadelphia is known for many things: The Liberty Bell, cheesesteaks, water ice, and Santa Claus-booing Eagles fans. But if research that I conducted in 2006 is still accurate today, Philadelphia should also be known for all-inclusive voting - that is, voting regardless of whether one has a pulse or is otherwise eligible to cast a vote..." http://pjmedia.com/blog/small-sample-of-philly-voter-rolls-reveals-hundreds-of-ineligible-names-pjm-exclusive/
There is a bright light on our horizon even though Salena Zito asserted that Pennsylvania electoral votes will depend on turn out in the Philadelphia suburbs:

"Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter didn't mince words after four kids were shot and three killed in Philadelphia Tuesday night.
"The first way to stop this kind of stuff is for young people to be home when they're supposed to be home, and for adults not to act like idiots and assholes out in the streets of our city shooting at kids in a car," Nutter told FOX 29...
A spokesperson for the mayor told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Nutter stood by his statement.
"He said what he said. He was clear about it, and he meant it. He said what everybody else was thinking," said spokesman Mark McDonald..."
http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/12/philly-mayor-dont-act-like-idiots-and-assholes/

What are Mayor Mike's reactions to fraud? Does he value "value" above "deals"?
Meanwhile, many Pennsylvanians look to Harrisburg to pass a "Voter ID" law that requires each of us to carry a card with our photo and address on it. Our Governor also says that he needs the law in place by the first week of February if it is to be used this coming November.
On the other hand, I recall my son's friends in college fattening their wallets by selling bogus photo ID to students who wanted to buy liquor. I'm sure ACORN knows how to do such things.
The ID cards will make cheating a bit more difficult and more expensive for organizers and possibly, but not necessarily, less frequent. And the rest of us will pay the bills for cheaters...

American Policy Center

Let Speaker Boehner Know that
Agenda 21 is a Real Threat!

I have some astounding - exciting news to report to you.

After 18 years of fighting, APC's efforts to stop the UN's Agenda 21 has just received an amazing boost!

Because the Republican National Committee (RNC) just UNANIMOUSLY passed a resolution opposing Agenda 21!

That means that our fight is no longer hidden from the main stream of the American political debate.

It means no longer can our opponents succeed in labeling us "fringe conspiracy nuts" as they have tried so hard to do.

One of the two main political parties in the United States of America - the Republican Party - just said Agenda 21 is a treat to our freedom!

This is a huge victory. And it is energizing our activists across the nation.

It means we can now use this resolution as a weapon against Agenda 21. It means Republican elected officials, from Congress on down to your city councilmen will be much more willing to listen to our protests.

But, of course, the battle is far from over.

You and I must use this new weapon effectively.

We must demand that Republicans at every level be pressured to support the platform of their party.

That's why it's urgent that you sign the enclosed Petition to Speaker of the House John Boehner urging him to oppose any Agenda 21 legislation that comes before the House of Representatives.

The petition includes the exact language used in the RNC resolution.

Speaker Boehner is the highest elected Republican office holder in America. He leads all policy decisions that come before the House.

He is the man who can block Sustainable Development grants, comprehensive development schemes, energy controls, and federal land grabs - all part of Agenda 21.

For the past year APC has been gaining success in waging battles against Agenda 21 in city councils and county commissions, helping more than 54 communities to end their memberships with the International Council on Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI). And we've started to have some success in state legislatures as well.

Now for the first time we have the opportunity to take the battle to Congress because the Republican Party - on a national level - has taken this action to officially oppose Agenda 21.

It is now our duty to take up this courageous action by the Republican National Committee and use it to apply pressure on Congress.

So please, today, right now, sign your petition to Speaker Boehner and it will be instantly emailed to him.

Every Republican office holder in the nation must be made to toe the party line - starting with Speaker Boehner!

Your signed petition is the first step. Sign your petition here.

And please, as you send your signed petition please also include your most generous contribution to the American Policy Center.  APC is the recognized leader in the nation in the fight to stop Agenda 21.

I must have your continued financial support to win this battle for American liberty. Without your support I can do nothing.

Every dollar counts. If you want to make a contribution that makes a difference then your dollars to APC is your best investment.

APC is scoring victories in a battle they said we could never win!

So please sign your petition to Speaker Boehner and make a contribution to APC today.

I've never been more energized or more convinced that we will win. Your support is making this possible.

Sign your petition to Speaker Boehner by clicking here

Thank you!

Tom DeWeese
President

P.S. The best way you can help APC financially is to pledge a monthly contribution of $10 or $15 or more. That gives me a guarantee of income and helps me through the lean months. And it helps me plan our battles. Whatever you can send is vital to our efforts. Thanks so much for your loyal support. Click here to make a donation.

Corruption and Sustainability: Like Oil & Water Do Not Mix--Wrong!

Triple Pundit "When we talk about sustainability and the triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit, we must recognize that integrity is the glue that binds these three things together. Corruption in antithetical to integrity and as such is a direct threat to sustainability." Oh what a joke. Integrity has nothing to do with the glue that binds the triple bottom line; corruption is the glue, corruption of the meaning of words, corruption of science, corruption of economics. Sustainable Development is about corruption. Go to our website and read anything about SD and you will see corruption as its base, corruption and greed... [Click here to read the full article]

and to prove my point:
Scientists: Agriculture Major Player in Climate Change
Voice of America "A team of scientists is urging that agriculture be a top priority in climate change negotiations, saying it's vital for global food security and for reducing carbon emissions. The recommendations appear in the January 20th issue of Science magazine." When was the last time you believed anything in Science Magazine? "Professor Jahn warns "the window of opportunity to avert a humanitarian, environmental and climate crisis is rapidly closing." She adds urgent action is needed." It is the globalists' meddling with food production, climate science(?), etc. that is bringing on the crisis that we shall soon be facing... [Click here to read the full article]

RedState

RedState Morning Briefing

For February , 2012

1. Susan G. Komen Listened. Have You Responded?

Yesterday, the Susan G. Komen Foundation announced it would stop giving money to Planned Parenthood. Conservatives have been pushing on this issue for a while.

As a result of the announcement, the left has gone on the attack. It is important that you who wanted Komen to do this say thank you. You can email them at news@Komen.org.

More importantly, you can donate to them. If you are not willing to support an organization that takes a stand you want when they come under attack, you cannot be surprised when less organizations listen to you.

So say thank you.

2. The Fat Lady Hasn't Sung, But She's Warming Up

If I were a national Republican operative, I'd be very worried about tonight. If I were a Mitt Romney fan, I'd be ecstatic.

The Romney win in Florida was huge. He won the hispanic vote. He split tea party activists and evangelicals. He won where people live. Gingrich won the panhandle and largely tied in the few northern Florida population centers, but it was Romney's night.

He is on the way toward the nomination. The fat lady is warming up. But it is not a done deal yet. He still has a fractured base and lost the heart of the base. He has trouble with tea party activists and evangelicals though he roughly tied with Gingrich in capturing their support, and he has trouble with strong conservatives. Nonetheless, his get out the vote operation was a phenomenal success and the 15 to 1 advertising ratio in his favor clinched it for him. Ron Brownstein has a solid analysis on Romney's win.

It is worth nothing that in the last week of the race only 0.1% of advertising was pro-Romney and roughly 70% was anti-Gingrich.

The panhandle held for Gingrich, which is more typical of a number of upcoming primaries than the rest of the state.

Here's why I'd be nervous if I were a GOP operative.

3. The Bad Messaging of the Newt Gingrich Super PAC

I was surprised to land in Miami today for CNN's coverage of the Florida Presidential Preference Primary and hear one Newt Super PAC ad over and over. I heard it on rock stations. I heard it on Rush Limbaugh. I heard it on a sports talk station.

It attacked Mitt Romney for abortion. Abortion. In a state with a massive housing crisis and a state that led the way in the fight on Obamacare, the Newt Super PAC decided to run ads in Miami, FL on abortion.

There is just one ad that the Newt Super PAC needs to run and that the Newt campaign itself needs to run. They need to take Rick Santorum's attack on Romneycare from the CNN Jacksonville, FL debate and turn it into a commercial.

4. The Inconvenient Constitution

As a United States Senator, I have sworn an oath to support, defend, and bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States. Complying with this Oath is not always convenient. Sometimes this requires voting against legislation that embodies policies I agree with, other times it requires taking a stand when doing so may not be popular.

The Constitution itself is not a document of convenience. It specifies an onerous process - bicameralism and presentment - with which the government must comply to enact legislation. And it imposes separation of government powers and a system of checks and balances between the different branches.

The Global Caliphate: One year later

This time one year ago the Arab Spring uprising toppled governments left and right. The media blindly cheered. They didn't see it coming. But one did: Glenn Beck.

He warned of radical Islamists collaborating with Communists, Socialists, and Anarchists in their quest to seize power in the wake of sudden change and fight against Israel, Capitalism, stability -- but the most important goal: establish a global caliphate.

In the last year, their dream of a caliphate is getting closer. Despite the Obama administration's and the media's claim of the uprisings in the Middle East being a fight for freedom and democracy, the Arab Spring has turned into radical Islamist Rule.

Act! for America

January 31, 2012     Flights of fancy

We find it ironic that the author of the column below that recently appeared in the Washington Post is also the author of "Holy Ignorance."

How else to explain how someone can be so blind to what is happening in countries like Egypt? Has he not read the polls taken in Egypt over the past few years, showing strong support for sharia law?

Does he really believe that the Muslim Brotherhood and Salafist political parties, which won over 2/3 of the seats in Egypt's parliamentary elections, were elected simply because they promised a better economy?

Does he really believe the Muslim Brotherhood would support the right of Muslims to convert to Christianity?

There are those who see what they want to see, in spite of all evidence to the contrary. Many of them are in our government, in the media, in academia. We, too, would be delighted to see a reformed Muslim Brotherhood, one that, according to the author below, is "middle class bourgeois." One that has given up its aspirations for worldwide Islamist rule.

But we can't afford to engage in such flights of fancy.

A new generation of political Islamists steps forward     By Olivier Roy, Published: January 20     Olivier Roy is a professor at the European University Institute in Florence and the author of "Holy Ignorance."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/muslim-brotherhood-other-islamists-have-changed-their-worldview/2012/01/10/gIQAZgjoEQ_story.html?wpisrc=nl_headlines

Everywhere, the Muslim Brotherhood is benefiting from a democratization it did not trigger. There is a political vacuum because the liberal vanguard that initiated the Arab Spring did not try, and did not want, to take power. This was a revolution without revolutionaries. Yet the Muslim Brothers are the only organized political force. They are rooted in society, and decades of opposition against authoritarian regimes gave them experience, legitimacy and respect. Their conservative agenda fits a conservative society, which may welcome democracy but did not turn liberal.

Under these circumstances, the ghost of a totalitarian Islamic state is raised, with the specter of imposing sharia and closing the short democratic parenthesis. But such an outcome is unlikely.

The Islamists have, in fact, changed: They are more middle-class "bourgeois," and they benefited from the liberalization of local economies during the last decades of the 20th century, especially in countries with no oil rent. The Islamists have also drawn lessons from the failure of ideological regimes and from the success of Turkey's AKP party. They are no longer advocating jihad and understand geostrategic constraints, such as the need to maintain peace, even a cold one, with Israel. Realism is the starting point of political wisdom.

The Islamists have been elected with a clear agenda: stability, good governance and a better economy. If they have been able to reach a larger constituency than the hard-core supporters of sharia, it is precisely because they can combine such a reformist agenda while talking about religion, values, identity and tradition. The Nahda party won the majority of the votes cast at the Tunisian consulate of San Francisco, although Tunisian expatriates in Silicon Valley are not known for their Islamic fundamentalism.

This mix of technocratic modernism and conservative values is their brand, and to turn their back on multipartism and legalism would alienate a large portion of their constituency, at a time when they have no means to confiscate power. They have neither military forces nor oil wealth to bypass the people: They have to negotiate and deliver. Their electorate wants stability and peace, not revolution.

They are stepping into a new political landscape: a democracy, although a fledgling and fragile one. The only way to maintain their legitimacy is through elections. Even if their pristine political culture is not democratic, they are formatted by the democratic landscape, much as the Roman Catholic Church ended up accepting democratic institutions. But it will take time.

Another important change, if we refer to the "revolutionary" period of the 1970s and 1980s, is that the Muslim Brothers do not monopolize Islam in the public sphere. In fact, the religious revival that has engulfed Arab societies led to a diversification and an individualization of the religious field. Religious state institutions such as Al Azhar, so recently discredited, are regaining autonomy after so recently being discredited. Al Azhar's dean, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, openly spoke in favor of democracy and of separating religious institutions from the state. A new phenomenon is the decision of the Salafis, an ultraconservative Sunni sect, to establish political parties. On the one hand they will push for a more Islamic agenda, trying to outbid the Muslim Brothers on Islam, but this will force the Brotherhood to clarify its own position and to find a way to distance itself from the call for sharia.

To do that, the Muslim Brothers have to turn purely Islamic norms into more universal conservative values - such as limiting the sale and consumption of alcohol in a way that is closer to Utah's rules than to Saudi laws and promoting "family values" instead of imposing sharia norms on women.

In the coming months the hot issue in Egypt, beyond the status of women, will be religious freedom. Not in the sense that Coptic Christians will have less freedom to practice - there were a lot of limitations under the so-called secular dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak - but in defining religious freedom as not merely a minority right but an individual human right, implying the right to convert from Islam to Christianity.

The issue is institutionalizing democracy, not promoting liberal policies. Democracy could take hold only if it is based in well-established values. Liberalism does not precede democracy; America's Founding Fathers were not liberal. But once democracy is rooted in institutions and political culture, then the debate on freedom, censorship, social norms and individual rights could be managed through freedom of expression and changes of majorities in parliament. However, there will be no institutionalization of democracy without the Muslim Brothers.

If Georgia Sec. of State knocks Obama off the ballot it will destroy down ballot Democrats

Jan 31, 2012 05:13 am | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

If Georgia's Secretary of State says Obama is off the ballot it will set in motion a scary domino effect that will devastate down ballot Democrats.

It's doubtful that the media will explain what is likely to happen if there is a blank space at the top of the Democrat slate in Georgia next November, but here's a likely scenario.

The results the latest IBD/TIPP survey hold nothing but bad news for Obama and his Democrats. Almost 2 /3 of the respondents agreed we are preparing for the most important election since 1860.  Even in the absence of hard evidence, can there be any doubt those who are disinterested and feel no sense of urgency about this election probably have very little connection to our America except as a place to demand from to pay for their America?

"Voter Interest" in this election can rightly be used interchangeably with "voter intensity" ... Continue Reading:If Georgia Sec. of State knocks Obama off the ballot it will destroy down ballot Democrats

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born JANUARY 30, 1882, in Hyde Park, NY. The 32nd President, he was in office longer than any other, over 12 years, serving during the Great Depression and World War II. On October 6, 1935, FDR stated: "We cannot read the history of our rise and development as a nation, without reckoning with the place the Bible has occupied in shaping the advances of the Republic...Where we have been the truest and most consistent in obeying its precepts, we have attained the greatest measure of contentment and prosperity." In a Fireside Chat, March 9, 1937, FDR stated: "I hope that you have re-read the Constitution of the United States in these past few weeks. Like the Bible, it ought to be read again and again." In a Campaign Address, November 1, 1940, FDR stated: "Those forces hate democracy and Christianity as two phases of the same civilization." In a ... Continue Reading:American Minute January 30

Turing "The World upside down" once again with a Gingrich victory

Jan 30, 2012 01:13 pm | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

The British and their colonial quislings once mocked American patriots with their song, "The world turned upside down." In the First American Revolutionary War we stuffed their smug arrogance down their throats and turned THEIR world upside down by defeating them at Yorktown.

Now as the patriots of today we have to fight a Second American Revolution and turn Barack Obama and his quisling Republicans' world "upside down" by electing Newt Gingrich.

In the first Revolution only a third of us were willing to fight for our freedoms. Our enemies were the British and about a third of our fellow colonists who were quislings and wanted to win favor with the British oppressors.  The remaining third hid in their basements waiting to see which flag to come up waving.

Today as we fight the Second American Revolutionary War we have a similar division among us. We of the TEA party movement ... Continue Reading:Turing "The World upside down" once again with a Gingrich victory

Media Blackout in Obama Georgia Ballot Eligibility Case

Posted on January 30, 2012

Last week, I noted that Obama turned his back not just on Arizona's Governor Jan Brewer, but also on the laws of the State of Georgia. I closed my column, "Georgia Ballot Challenge: Obama Walks on By," with the observation: "And most of the media has followed along right behind him."

At the time, I had just witnessed an historic hearing that actually discussed the eligibility of the sitting president of the United States to run for a second term. The president had been subpoenaed to appear, and instead of his attorney respectfully following protocol to have that subpoena recalled, both Obama and his attorney, Michael Jablonski, simply failed to show up at all or offer any defense whatsoever.

Isn't there a headline in there somewhere?

WND Breaking News

Obama eligibility challenges spread to 6 states

A judge in Georgia could decide this week whether voters convinced him Barack Obama's name should be removed from the 2012 presidential ballot because he is not qualified to hold the office. But win, lose or draw, the fight won't be over, as other cases are erupting across the nation.

Read the latest now on WND.com.

In the world of questionable and sometimes downright silly Bible translations, one would think that it couldn't get any worse. But guess what. It's gotten worse. A new Bible has actually removed God as being the "Father" and Jesus from being the "Son of God." And that's just the beginning.

A Clash of Conscience

By James C. Capretta
January 30, 2012

The decision last week by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to reject the appeals of scores of religious leaders and retain a very narrow "religious" exemption from Obamacare's so-called contraception mandate has ignited an uproar among Catholic leaders, as well it should - because it's hard to fathom a government dictate more offensive than this one.

Here's how we got where we are: Obamacare includes within its massive delegation of power to the federal government the authority to define what constitutes "preventive services" that must be covered by all health-insurance plans sold and purchased in the United States, including plans sponsored by employers. Services defined by HHS as preventive for purposes of this provision are required under the new law to be covered by the insurer or employer with no charge to the insurance plan's enrollees.

Last August, in the course of writing a rule that would determine preventive health services for women, HHS decided that free contraception and sterilization services are a must. As a practical matter, that means all health-insurance plans sold in the United States in the very near future will include full coverage of products that terminate pregnancies, since some products classified by the FDA as contraceptives - and thus covered under the HHS definition - also act as abortifacients. While it is true that many insurance plans cover such products today, that's mainly been the choice of the insurers and employers sponsoring the plans. HHS has now made such coverage obligatory nationwide, thus forcing tens of millions of pro-life Americans to pay for "services" with their health-insurance premiums that they find morally objectionable. (Grandfathered plans are exempt from this and other Obamacare rules, but the number qualifying for grandfathered status is expected to decline precipitously in the next couple of years.)

Bad as all that is, it gets worse. Not only must Catholics who work for non-Catholic employers pay for such products with their premiums, HHS also wants religious employers to cover such products in their health plans. Knowing that Catholic leaders and others would strongly object to this requirement, HHS included in the regulation issued last August a narrow exemption from this requirement for employers that are basically houses of worship. Much larger religiously affiliated institutions, such as Catholic universities, hospitals, and charitable enterprises, do not fit within the HHS exemption.

The Church against Obamacare

We've noted many times that Obamacare amounts to an assault on limited constitutional government. One small prong of the assault: the Obama administration's recent announcement that all employers (with few exceptions) are required under Obamacare to provide health insurance to their employees which includes subsidized contraception, sterilization and coverage for abortion-inducing drugs.

At Business Insider, Michael Brendon Dougherty comments: "This mean[s] that religious institutions, like Catholic colleges and hospitals, or other Christian institutions would be compelled to violate their conscience by cooperating with that which they believe to be wrong. Currently many of these institutions purchase health-insurance plans which do not provide free coverage of these services." Dougherty reports that in thousands of parishes this weekend, Catholic priests read a version of the following letter to their congregation denouncing this decision as an attack on their religious freedom. Each bishop personally sent the letter out, and so there were some local variations. Here's the one read in the Phoenix Archdiocese. Here's another from the Bishop of Trenton. What follows is from the Bishop of Marquette:

U.S. steps on right to religious convictions

January 24, 2012

Edward A. Turzanski

Tonight, President Obama makes his constitutionally required report on the state of our union, just as last week a group of Roman Catholic bishops from the United States presented to Pope Benedict XVI an ecclesiastically required ("ad limina") report on the state of their dioceses. Obama, the bishops, and all Americans should take note of the Roman pontiff's observations on our state.

Demonstrating a keen understanding of our history, constitution, and present circumstances, Benedict warned: "Of particular concern are certain attempts being made to limit that most cherished of American freedoms, the freedom of religion. Many of you have pointed out that concerted efforts have been made to deny the right of conscientious objection on the part of Catholic individuals and institutions with regard to cooperation in intrinsically evil practices. Others have spoken to me of a worrying tendency to reduce religious freedom to mere freedom of worship without guarantees of respect for freedom of conscience."

Benedict is right. Through its legal rule-making and economic reach into intensely personal matters such as health care and education, government has far exceeded what many consider a proper constitutional grasp. The net effect is that any organization of religiously motivated citizens that seeks to work for the common good is being told by government to check its moral convictions at the gate if it wishes access to the public square. This goes against our founders' views. Catholic health care in the United States traces its roots to 1727 and the French Ursuline sisters in New Orleans, whom President Jefferson promised in an 1804 letter that they could govern themselves by their own rules "without interference from civil authority." Since that time, the Church has become the country's largest private health care provider (administering 2.7 percent of the nation's hospitals serving 5.6 million patients, and an additional 1,400 long-term care and other health facilities across all 50 states in 2009). Sadly, that long record of public service, and the health plans provided to employees of Catholic institutions, may soon end because of a ruling by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Effective Aug. 1, the "preventive services" mandate of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act requires all health plans in the country to provide zero co-pay, FDA-approved contraception methods, and counseling, including abortifacients and sterilization. Not to worry, said Sebelius, churches, synagogues, and other places of worship were exempted from the rule. Unfortunately, their related educational, health care and social service agencies are not. Even Sister Carol Keehan, president of the 600-member Catholic Health Association, whose late support for Obamacare was consequential in its passage, has conceded that Obama's promises made on "conscience exemption" are meaningless: "I call this the parish housekeeper exemption - that's about all it covers. . .."

Keehan should have known better. First in Boston in 2006 and then in Illinois last year, the church was driven out of providing adoption services because it would not place children with homosexuals. Last year, the Obama administration also denied the church a contract to provide care for victims of sex-trafficking because its program would not give referrals for abortions or contraception. But the administration's most revealing act on the question of religious liberty may have come in the recent Hosanna Church-Tabor v. EEOC Supreme Court decision in which a unanimous court (how often does that happen?) rejected the Obama position that churches have no "ministerial exemption" from secular labor law in hiring clergy. Conservative Justice Scalia noted, "That is extraordinary . . . we are talking here about the free exercise clause and about the establishment clause, and you say they have no special application?" And liberal Justice Kagan concurred: "I too, find that amazing."

As for education, the Philadelphia region is still reeling from the announcement that 45 elementary grade schools and four high schools are closing because of declining enrollments and the attendant loss of revenue. Here, and across the country, the largest private, high-quality educator, which has performed a tremendous public good for decades, will no longer serve those in greatest need because taxpayer support can only go to the secular schools.

Big city and rural mayors take note. Benedict and the bishops will not abandon their principles. And institutions that have saved us all billions of dollars by servicing hundreds of millions of citizens since our founding may soon be absent from the public square. The financial costs of replacing them will be astounding; the moral and quality-of-life impact of their loss on our communities will be incalculable.

Edward A. Turzanski is a senior fellow with the Foreign Policy Research Institute and a professor of political science and history at La Salle University.

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 280 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS

Occupiers Assault Pro-Lifers

For the third time in a week radicals from the Occupy Wall Street crowd have disrupted pro-life events. If they are so concerned about income inequality, why are they focusing their anger and vitriol on pro-life demonstrations?

According to LifeSiteNews.com, Occupiers disrupted a March for Youth rally in Washington, D.C., last weekend, a prayer vigil outside of the Supreme Court last Monday and a pro-life rally in Rhode Island last Thursday. At the Rhode Island rally, the radicals threw condoms on Catholic students and shouted down a priest as he attempted to give the benediction.

Barth Bracey, executive director of Rhode Island Right to Life, attempted to contact someone in leadership at the national Occupy Wall Street headquarters. They were less than helpful. Bracey told LifeSiteNews.com:

"You can't have a reasoned conversation with these people. They simply try to taunt you. They're smug, snarky, arrogant. You won't get a straight answer. Their actions have made it loud and clear, whatever else they are, they are pro-abortion -- and they are willing to attack the pro-life movement."

Yesterday we provided more evidence of the anti-Semitic bigotry that infests the Occupy Wall Street movement. But it is increasingly clear that these radicals are not just against Wall Street greed and corruption. They are against traditional American values, including free enterprise and free speech. They are anti-Western Civilization.

Remember This

Two headlines today caught my attention. Here's the first headline followed by a brief excerpt:

"O'Malley Talks About Applying Sales Tax To Gas -- Maryland's gas prices could soon be going sky high. The governor [a liberal Democrat] has recommended applying sales tax to gas, and it could pump up prices more than 20 cents a gallon."

Now here's the second headline followed by a brief excerpt:

"Emboldened GOP Wants To Abolish State Income Taxes -- A year after Republicans swept into office across the country, many have trained their sights on what has long been a fiscal conservative's dream: the steep reduction or even outright elimination of state income taxes."

Remember this, my friends, when you go into the voting booth in 280 days: Democrats are always trying to raise your taxes. Republicans want to cut taxes.

Our Thin-Skinned President

Beneath Barack Obama's well-cultivated image as a supernaturally cool, calm and collected president lies a very different reality: an irritable, hyper-sensitive and bitter man who's quick to attack those who question him or his agenda. The idea of Obama as an above-the-fray figure who can unite the country has been shattered by three years of a president who seems more passionate about the opinions of his critics than about governing the country. SNOPES NO MORE!!!
Many of the emails that I have sent or forwarded that had anything
Anti-Obama in it was negated by Snopes. I thought that was odd.
Check this out.

Snopes, Soros and the Supreme Courts Kagan.

We-l-l-l-l now, I guess the time has come to check out Snopes!

Ya' don't suppose it might not be a good time to take a second look at
Some of the stuff that got kicked in the ditch by Snopes, do ya'?

We've known that it was owned by a lefty couple but hadn't known it to
Be financed by Soros!

Snopes is heavily financed by George Soros; a big time supporter of
Obama!

In our Search for the truth department, we find what I have suspected
on many occasions.

I went to Snopes to check something about the dockets of the new
Supreme Court Justice, Elena Kagan who Obama appointed and Snopes said
the email was false and there were no such dockets so I Googled the
Supreme Court, typed in Obama-Kagan, and guess what?

Yep you got it; Snopes Lied!

Every one of those dockets is there.

So here is what I wrote to Snopes:

Referencing the article about Elena Kagan and Barak Obama dockets:

The information you have posted stating that there were no such cases
as claimed and the examples you gave are blatantly false.

I went directly to the Supreme Courts website, typed in Obama Kagan and
Immediately came up with all of the dockets that the article made

Thank You, I hope you will be much more truthful in the future, but I

Folks, this is really ugly.

Once again the US Senate sold us out!

Now we know why Obama nominated Elana Kagan for the Supreme Court.

Pull up the Supreme Courts website, go to the docket and search for
Obama.

She was the Solicitor General for all the suits against him filed with
the Supreme Court to show proof of natural born citizenship.

He owed her big time.

All of the requests were denied of course.

They were never heard.

And deeper, doesn't it?

It's all about payback time for those who compromised themselves to

Here are some websites of the Supreme Court Docket:

You can look up some of these hearings and guess what?

Elana Kagan is the attorney representing Obama!

From the bookshelf: Do you live in a bubble? In Coming Apart: the State of White America. 1960-2010, Charles Murray argues that the divergence between how the upper and lower classes live puts the success of the American project at risk.

The Half-Truth About Inequality

Inequality is the new buzzword, especially since it's often perceived as inherently unjust. Outraged about inequality of income, the self-described "occupiers" took to urban camping to berate the top 1 percent of income earners. In his State of the Union Address, President Obama trotted out Warren Buffett's secretary to underscore the supposed injustice that the rich have more than enough money while not paying enough taxes.

On one level, a certain concern with inequality is understandable in a nation like ours which is founded on the self-evident truth "that all men are created equal."

But this latest obsession with inequality is fundamentally counterproductive.

America's founders knew that, while human beings are equal in some key respects, they are not equal in every respect. People have equal natural rights, but they have unequal virtues, talents, and dispositions. As James Wilson concluded "there is, and it is fit for the great purposes of society that there should be, great inequality among men." This inequality of talents does not denigrate the natural equality of rights. Where people are equal, it is just to treat them the same; by contrast, where they are different, it is unjust to treat them the same.

The American ideal of equality does not therefore necessitate equal wealth or income.

By virtue of our devotion to equal humanity, Americans are committed to ensuring that every person has access to at least the basic resources required to sustain life in his society: In the United States, this has come to include not only food, clothing, and shelter, but also free public education, legal representation in courts of law, emergency medical care, and other forms of basic welfare. But establishing such a baseline of dignity does not mean that the government bears sole responsibility for providing these essential resources. Government protects the public's freedom, order, safety, and peace by meeting needs that require the use of force (for example, by defending against military threats, enforcing contracts, and upholding laws). While the state should maintain a minimum safety net, civil-society institutions like families, churches, and community groups are ultimately better equipped to fulfill mutual obligations and enable people to care for one another.

Once crucial rights have been secured and the basic subsistence level of resources has been provided, the differences between individuals should be acknowledged and respected. This means that government has an obligation to protect people's exercise of their differing abilities and also the unequal amounts of property they accumulate as a result of those talents. As James Madison argued in Federalist No. 10, "The protection of these faculties is the first object of government. From the protection of different and unequal faculties of acquiring property, the possession of different degrees and kinds of property immediately results." Freedom, Madison understood, inevitably brings unequal income and wealth.

To achieve strict economic equality, though, government would need to intervene in people's private decisions to a degree that would make even some of the most ardent equalizers uncomfortable. Indeed,  government would need to regulate income creation and prevent some people from obtaining certain advantages over others (for instance benefits from attending private schools or from parents investing time and money). Where governments tried to enforce strict equality in the past, as in socialist and communist regimes throughout the 20th century, power became more concentrated in the hands of a few (government officials) while material equality and prosperity among the general population remained elusive.

In addition to being widely unpopular, such interventions would also be exceedingly inefficient, because different people value different things (money, land, physical health, travel, consumer goods, comfort, and so forth) in different ways. Government bureaucrats necessarily lack the ability to know the relative degrees to which citizens value these goods.

In a market economy underwritten by the rule of law, the gap between rich and poor is not itself the source of injustice. Of actual concern are the underlying factors that impede success, stifle opportunity, and foster unhealthy dependence on government. What requires redistribution is not our income but our moral attention. The sooner our economic debates move beyond the gap between rich and poor to questions of growth, mobility, and enduring prosperity, the sooner we will be able to nurture conditions that allow everyone the opportunity to rise and flourish.

Morning Bell: A Higher Education Revolution

The President is right to highlight the rising cost of higher education. Tuition and fees continue to shoot through the roof, now exceeding $17,000 per year, rising on average 8.3 percent at public universities this year. That means medium-income Americans are struggling to send their kids to college, and graduates are leaving school with monstrous debt. Last year in America, total student loan debt surpassed credit card debt. The total bill is expected to exceed $1 trillion this next year, and in 2009, 55 percent of graduating bachelor's degree students at public colleges were in debt, with an average indebtedness of $19,800 ($26,100 for private college graduates, 65 percent of whom were in debt.)

The 'Buffett Rule' and Fairness in the Tax Code

by Sondra Clark

In his State of the Union address last week, President Obama shaped his rhetoric around the ideas of fairness, particularly when it comes to taxes.

Yet 49 percent of U.S. households pay no federal tax at all. And a Heritage Foundation chart shows the top 10 percent of income earners paid 70 percent of all federal income tax in 2008.

Is that really fairness?

In President Obama's  speech, he described his vision: "If you make more than $1 million a year, you should not pay less than 30 percent in taxes." He dubbed this the "Buffett Rule," named for billionaire Warren Buffett, who claims that he pays a lower tax rate than his secretary.

The Heritage Foundation's Curtis Dubay explains the reality:

He pays a 15 percent rate on those gains when he realizes them. But before he enjoys those gains, the businesses that generate them pay the highest-in-the-world 35 percent corporate income tax rate. In reality, Buffett pays 50 percent on the income he earns- far above the rate his secretary pays.

In his rebuttal to the State of the Union, Dubay explains how President Obama's "Buffett Rule" is already in place: "the CBO reports income earners paid 70 percent of all federal income tax in 2008, while the bottom 50 percent paid only 3 percent."

The Heritage Foundation has developed a genuinely fair alternative to the President's big-government, high-tax vision: a flat tax plan that is streamlined, transparent and pro-growth.

Do you think the "Buffett Rule" is fair? What do you think needs to be done? Share your comments on myHeritage.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has confirmed the key finding of Heritage Foundation research on federal employee compensation: federal workers are paid substantially more than comparable private-sector workers.

Heritage Foundation economist James Sherk and his colleagues in Heritage's Center for Data Analysis provoked a firestorm on the left with their research in 2010 that showed "the average federal employee receives as much as 22 percent more in wages than an equally skilled private sector worker. Including both wages and benefits, overpaying federal workers costs taxpayers approximately $40-50 billion per year."

The CBO report was requested by members of Congress after Heritage helped make federal pay an major issue. Sherk and Heritage's Jason Richwine reviewed a draft of the report and helped them improve their analysis.

The CBO agrees with the core of Heritage's analysis. Read their conclusion on myHeritage.

The "Your Money, Your Values, Your Vote" bus-a joint project of The Heritage Foundation and the Family Research Council-stopped at Heritage's Washington headquarters last week. The Heritage Foundation and Family Research Council hit the road earlier this month to tell Americans about practical conservative solutions to the most critical issues confronting the nation.

Participants in the March for Life were invited to board to bus and pledge to Save the American Dream.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) also stopped by
and had this to say about Heritage's plan to get America back on track:

I love this Saving the American Dream plan. Simplify taxes. Redesign Medicare and Social Security. Cut government spending. Reform health care. Protect America by fully funding defense needs. Leave our children and grandchildren with a better life.

The 15-foot-tall, 45-foot-long bus has already made stops in South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Arizona, and Washington, DC. Find out where the bus is heading to next by visiting ValuesBus.com.

CBO projects $1.08T deficit, higher unemployment
By Erik Wasson

The Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday predicted the budget deficit will rise to $1.08 trillion in 2012.

CBO also projected the jobless rate would rise to 8.9 percent by the end of 2012, and to 9.2 percent in 2013.

These are much dimmer forecasts than in CBO's last report in August, when the office projected a $973 billion deficit. The report reflects weaker corporate tax revenue and the extension for two months of the payroll tax holiday.

AFP School Choice Week Event

Written by Kim Schmidtner

Americans for Prosperity Pennsylvania wrapped up its School Choice Week initiative yesterday at their "Restoring American Exceptionalism" townhall event at the Hershey Lodge.  The event was led by AFP-PA's Chairman, Jennifer Stefano, and featured guest speakers Dick Morris, Bob Bowden (Director of "The Cartel: Education+Politics=$"), and Chris Freind (independent columnist).

School choice has been a hot topic in Pennsylvania for quite some time, but it has been especially publicized for the past year with the debate over the SB-1 voucher program that was defeated in the PA Legislature in late 2011.  Many activists believe that this bill failed to pass because it didn't phase-in the voucher program to all students in PA by the end of its 3-year institution.  However, the failure of this bill has not cooled the passions of school choice advocates across the state since nearly 300 of them attended yesterday's event.

Wow, Hockey guy gets it!

I'm not a hockey fan.  Though I must admit that is due more to ignorance about the rules of the game than anything else.  (And doesn't almost every team make the playoffs anyway?)

But, I am now a fan of a hockey goalie for the Boston Bruins.  Because he understands the ENTIRE problem we face as citizens of the United States.  See, he gets that our problem is the "sports team mentality" of politics.

Yes, in sports you can love and 'hate' teams.  But such thinking is the exact thing that is destroying our country when it comes to politics.  Why?  Because when you hate one team, and you 'love' another, you will excuse your team for any faults.  This simplistic mentality destroys the entire concept of accountability when we blindly accept such premises.

No, we need to hold all elected officials accountable.  In fact, we are easily manipulated when we listen to one team who blames the other team in politics for our problems.

The Republican political world has been embroiled in a huge debate - Who is the most principled candidate?

But the reality of politics has entered the political lexicon.  For decades, most voters just listened to campaign rhetoric and actively worked to defeat the 'other side' during 'the most important election ever'.  Seriously, how many times have we heard, "this is the most important election ever"?  And if one side prevailed or not, it was never the end of the world nor were our problems solved.  Instead, we simply kept driving to the cliff of financial destruction, no matter who was in charge.

The Other National Debt - Costly Regulations

Written by Kim Schmidtner

In this week's State of the Union Address, President Obama made several interesting statements that demonstrate that grassroots activists are winning the public opinion fight and forcing the politicians to at least say the right things. (Whether they follow through and actually do them is an entirely different story). In the speech, Obama launched the following initiatives:

1.  Ending the legal insider trading in Congress that was recently exposed in Peter Schweitzer's book Throw Them All Out.  This practice was further exposed on 60 Minutes and discussed in a recent blog here on LFL.  The President also called for those people who bundle campaign contributions for Congress to be forbidden to lobby Congress.

2. Perhaps recognizing the nation's growing debt problem, Obama proposed to use half of the savings from the end of the wars to pay the country's debt.  (It should be more)

3. Reducing regulations, wanting his staff to start identifying and eliminating obsolete and burdensome regulations.

Wow!  If I didn't know any better, I would have thought he had read The Limited Government Resolution. (more on that later).

Canadian Judge Describes Sharia Killings as 'Twisted Concept of Honor'

January 31, 2012

As Muslim families continue to immigrate into the western world, the conflict between local and national laws versus Islamic Sharia law heats up. In the United States, several courts have upheld Sharia law over state and federal laws.

In Canada, this conflict was waged in an Ontario court where Afghan immigrants Mohammad Shafia (58), his wife Tooba Yahya (42) and son Hamed (21) were charged with murdering Shafia's three daughters and first wife. Daughters Zainab (19), Sahar (17), Geeti (13) and first wife Rona Amir Mohammad (52) were found in a car that was submerged in a local canal. Shafia's second wife Yahya was the mother of son Hamed and the three daughters.

The parents and son claim that the three girls and former wife, who was still living with the family, accidentally drove into the canal while joy riding in the car. Hamed told the court that he witnessed the accident, however he never called police for help.

The prosecution presented a case indicating that all four victims were drowned nearby, their bodies placed into the car which was then pushed into the canal. The motive for killings were the dishonor the four females brought to the family due to their rebellion against the family rules on dating, how to dress, socializing and their internet activities.

Romney Looks for Big Florida Win Against Defiant Gingrich

January 31, 2012

Mitt Romney looked for a big leap ahead in his quest for the GOP presidential nomination as Florida Republicans voted Tuesday, while Newt Gingrich vowed to fight on no matter the result.

"Doing well in Florida is a pretty good indication of your prospects nationally," Mr. Romney said Tuesday at his Florida campaign headquarters in Tampa.

Across the state, at a polling station in Orlando, Mr. Gingrich promised: "This is a long, long way from being over."

Mr. Romney, who spent nearly $7 million on television ads in Florida and has built up a significant lead in the polls, hoped a decisive win in the state's primary would lend an unstoppable momentum as the nomination contest soon spreads out across the country. His advisers believe that Florida may have presented the last real threat to his claim on the nomination.

On Israel and a nuclear Iran

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 09:52 AM PST

(Scott Johnson)

Finding the video of Douglas Murray at the Cambridge Union debating the question of a nuclear Iran, apparently last year, I looked around for some background on the debate. I haven't found the background, but I have found a handy summary at Seraphic Secret:

This is an incredibly powerful video of the brilliant and erudite British Conservative Douglas Murray speaking at Cambridge about a nuclear Iran. It's eleven minutes long and builds to an incredible pitch of logic and emotion. Stay with it.

Allow me to underline several of Murray's most important points:

1. Murray expresses gratitude that this debate is purely theoretical because England is a third rate power who could not stop Iran even if she wanted to-which she doesn't because England and Europe cannot be trusted to get it right.

2. Murray quotes a Holocaust survivor whose life lesson is something Seraphic Secret has repeated over the years: "When someone says they are going to kill you, believe them."

3. Israel knows not to trust the Europeans who care more about their Arab oil than Jewish blood. Murray doesn't come out and say it, but the implication is clear: Europe is a boiling cauldron of Jew-hatred.

Here is the video. Please check it out.

Mangling Abe

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 08:56 AM PST

(Steven Hayward)

As usual I am slow to get around to all the weekend's reading, but I note that Harold Holzer, in a Washington Post article on Newt's idea of Lincoln-Douglas style debates, couldn't resist this sideswipe of Lincoln:

"I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races," he declared in Charleston, Ill., to robust cheers, "nor ever have been in favor of making voters of the negroes, or jurors, or qualifying them to hold office, or having them to marry with white people." It was not the future emancipator's finest hour.

Writing at NoLeftTurns, Ken Thomas (hat tip, by the way) rightly says that  'this is mediocre historian shallowness."

I got to hear Harry Jaffa years ago comment on this same passage, reminding us that the silences of political leaders are often as important as what they say, and, noting Lincoln's unfinished sequence of verb tenses ("I am not, not have ever been. . ."), that Lincoln did not say what he would be in the future.  In A New Birth of Freedom Jaffa offers the deeper background to correct Holzer's ubiquitous but childish perspective:

Throughout the slavery controversy, Lincoln is careful to avoid contesting the question of the equality or inequality of the races "in the gifts of nature."  Given the overwhelming prejudices of white America, North as well as South, it would have been senseless for him to do otherwise.  He is at great pains, however, to argue that this question is irrelevant to the question of the justice or injustice of slavery.  To have contended for anything more than freedom would only have endangered whatever prospects for freedom there might have been.  Yet careful analysis of Lincoln's many references to the intelligence or abilities of Negroes shows amazingly little actual concession to the prejudices of his contemporaries, even while seeming not to contradict them. . .

Lincoln's characteristic expression was, "Certainly the negro is not our equal in color-perhaps not in many other respects."  The only inequality that was "certain," according to Lincoln, was color.  Only the prejudices of his audiences would find such a judgment of Negro inferiority in such an assertion.  Yet Lincoln would continue, in a phrase that, with minor variations, he repeated endlessly: "still, in the right to put into his mouth the bread that his own hands have earned, he is the equal of every other man, white or black."  The contrast between the ambiguity of what Lincoln says about Negro inequality and the unambigiuousness of what he says about Negro equality is striking.

Obviously it is not striking enough to slow learners like Holzer.  A more mature consideration of the nature and sources of Lincoln's prudence shows that it is people like Holzer who should be said not to be having their finest hour.

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 05:37 AM PST

(Scott Johnson)

Michael Gerson considers the implications of the Obama administration's betrayal of its Catholic allies in its adoption of Obamacare regulations requiring the provision of benefits including sterilization, contraception and abortifacients. He singles out three Obama supporters for consideration:

Consider Catholicism's most prominent academic leader, the Rev. John Jenkins, president of Notre Dame. Jenkins took a serious risk in sponsoring Obama's 2009 honorary degree and commencement address - which promised a "sensible" approach to the conscience clause. Jenkins now complains, "This is not the kind of 'sensible' approach the president had in mind when he spoke here." Obama has made Jenkins - and other progressive Catholic allies - look easily duped.

Consider Catholicism's highest-ranking elected official, Vice President Biden. Biden had encouraged engagement with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on conscience rights. Now he will be remembered as the Catholic cover for the violation of Catholic conscience. Betrayal is always an inside job.

Consider Catholicism's most prominent clerical leader, Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan, head of the Conference of Catholic Bishops. Dolan had pursued a policy of engagement with the administration. In November, he met face to face with Obama, who was earnestly reassuring on conscience protections. On Jan. 20, during a less-cordial phone conversation, Obama informed Dolan that no substantial concession had been made. How can Dolan make the argument for engagement now?

Gerson's anger is revealed in the middle of these three paragraphs. While Jenkins and Dolan are dupes, according to Gerson, Biden is a betrayer. That is a rather loaded charge in this context. Gerson then moves on to the larger point:

The implications of Obama's power grab go further than contraception and will provoke opposition beyond Catholicism. Christian colleges and universities of various denominations will resist providing insurance coverage for abortifacients. And the astounding ambition of this federal precedent will soon be apparent to every religious institution. Obama is claiming the executive authority to determine which missions of believers are religious and which are not - and then to aggressively regulate institutions the government declares to be secular. It is a view of religious liberty so narrow and privatized that it barely covers the space between a believer's ears.

Obama's decision also reflects a certain view of liberalism. Classical liberalism was concerned with the freedom to hold and practice beliefs at odds with a public consensus. Modern liberalism uses the power of the state to impose liberal values on institutions it regards as backward. It is the difference between pluralism and anti-clericalism.

This is a provocative column. Gerson has a point here, but I think it is too particularized in his telling. Obamacare represents the progressive assault on limited constitutional government. If Catholic leaders have lent the assault a hand in the past, one can only hope that they awaken to the implications.

Do Wind and Solar Work?

Posted: 30 Jan 2012 06:39 PM PST

(John Hinderaker)

Everyone knows that wind and solar energy are inefficient sources of energy compared to fossil fuels. But, as the Science and Environmental Policy Project points out in the current The Week That Was, the extent to which "green" energy actually works is surprisingly opaque:

Someone experienced in analyzing potential investments in innovative industries may be surprised by the lack of hard data on the performance of solar and wind in generating electricity. Certainly, it is understandable that solar and wind companies may wish to keep certain trade secrets from the public, such as manufacturing design and techniques. But if the results are as solid as the promoters claim, than one would expect the promoters would give the hard data on performance. Yet these are being withheld on the claims that such data is proprietary - confidential.

Slowly, information is leaking from nations that have spent heavily on wind and solar, such as Germany. This information should give pause to those touting solar and wind, including politicians. England is pulling back from wind, Germany has announced drastic cut-backs on its subsidies to solar, and Spain has announced the elimination of subsidies for renewable power. These actions are not the result of success. The erratic nature of these sources is well established. Further, electricity is rather unique among energy types - it cannot be stored on an affordable, commercial scale.

The leaders of countries that have spent heavily on solar and wind assumed that the erratic nature of these sources, and that the lack of storage, can be compensated by installing the facilities over a broad geographical area. They were wrong. A winter high pressure system can cover a broad area of Europe, rendering wind turbines useless when solar panels can generate little electricity, and none at night. Reports are indicating that at least 80% conventional back-up is needed. [One exception may be Denmark which relies on pumped hydro storage from Norway and Sweden, selling excess wind generated electricity to pump up reservoirs when possible and buying the hydroelectricity when needed. The pricing should be quite interesting.]

A further complication is that fast back-up from conventional sources, such as coal or natural gas, is very demanding on the equipment, inefficient, and polluting - the pollution control devices do not work properly when heat output varies. According to reports, no coal plants have been de-commissioned in northern Europe rendering the claim of lower carbon dioxide emissions questionable.

Those proclaiming the virtues of wind and solar should be compelled to reveal actual output data from these sources, the required back-up, and data on the actual reduction of carbon dioxide and other emissions when alternative sources are used.

Occupiers Assert Constitutional Right to Commit Crimes

Posted: 30 Jan 2012 05:43 PM PST

(John Hinderaker)

The Occupy movement has generally faded away, succumbing in most cities to cold weather and public indifference. But Oakland is different. The Oakland Occupiers include criminals-not just those who commit sexual assault and defecate on police cars, but serious criminals. The criminal element has given the Oakland branch of the movement staying power.

On Sunday, Oakland's Occupiers, putting their underworld training to good use, broke into City Hall:

Mayor Jean Quan was among those inspecting damage caused after dozens of people broke into City Hall on Saturday, smashing glass display cases, spray-painting graffiti, and burning an American flag. ...

Saturday's events began late Saturday morning, when a group assembled outside City Hall and marched through the streets, disrupting traffic as they threatened to take over the vacant Henry Kaiser Convention Center.

The protesters then walked to the convention center, where some started tearing down perimeter fencing and "destroying construction equipment" shortly before 3 p.m., police said. Police said they issued a dispersal order and used smoke and tear gas after some protesters pelted them with bottles, rocks, burning flares and other objects. ...

Quan said that at one point, many protesters forced their way into City Hall, where they burned flags, broke an electrical box and damaged several art structures, including a recycled art exhibit created by children.

Here, someone-I take it one of the Occupiers, since no one was inside City Hall legally-tries to dissuade her comrades from burning an American flag:

She was unsuccessful:

Remarkably, Occupiers claimed that they have a constitutional right to break into City Hall and destroy public property:

The protest group issued an email criticizing police, saying "Occupy Oakland's building occupation, an act of constitutionally protected civil disobedience was disrupted by a brutal police response today."

The Occupiers' theory appears to be that burning American flags is not just constitutionally protected but constitutionally favored, so that if you commit various felonies, including breaking into a public building and destroying property that is not your own, but in the course of those crimes you also burn an American flag that is not your own, voila! Your crime spree is wholly admirable, and you can sue the police department for damages if they arrest you.

Let no one forget that the Democratic Party, including Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and many others, has endorsed the Occupy movement.

Sneak Peek: Sunday's Best Super Bowl Commercials...Before They Air!

The Blaze | by Becket Adams | Posted on January 31, 2012 at 5:40pm

Sunday's Best Super Bowl CommercialsAlthough the Super Bowl isn't until this weekend, some companies have already "leaked" their top dollar ads online.

Based on these "leaked" ads, here's what viewers can expect to see this year: Sketcher's replacement of Kim Kardashian with a French Bulldog (i.e. an upgrade), Matthew Broderick reprising his role as Ferris Bueller, Volkswagen revisiting its Star Wars theme, and, of course, those rather unpleasant Go Daddy ads (to this day, we're still not entirely sure what they're peddling; something to do with NASCAR drivers and lingerie).

And instead of having to wait until Super Bowl Sunday to catch some of these incredibly expensive ads, Business Insider has gone ahead and rounded them up for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.

THE NEW ANT and the Grasshopper . . .

This one is a little different....

Two Different Versions ....

Two Different Morals

OLD VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he
Dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:
Be responsible for yourself!

NEW VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house
And laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer a way.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper
Calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to
Provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper
Next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper
And everybody cries when they sing,'It's Not Easy Being Green...'

Occupy the Anthill stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the SEIU group singing, We shall overcome.

Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright  has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper's sake,
While he damns the ants.

President Obama condems the ant
And blames
President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope  for the grasshopper's plight..

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid  exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has
Gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper,
And both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number  of green bugs and,  having  nothing left to  pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government  GreenCzar
And given  to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper
And his free-loading   friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is  in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house,
Crumbles around them because the grasshopper  doesn't  maintain it.

The ant has  disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper  is found  dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over  by a gang of spiders  who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous   and peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest
Of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Be careful how you vote in 2012.

Most powerful man in world plays victim vs. AZ Gov

Brian Williams couldn't recall anyone ever talking to the President like Governor Jan Brewer did (wagging a finger) - apparently he forgot about the time President George W. Faith Under Attack: Our faith is under attack by this administration. Through Obamacare they are mandating that Catholic schools, hospitals and other institutions provide subsidized contraception, sterilization, and coverage for abortion-inducing drugs for their employees-all of which violate their belief system. It's time for people of faith to unite, stand with God and defend our religious freedom. Glenn explained on GBTV last night.
