The Daily Email of January 26 offers me an opportunity to remind your readers once more of Rep. RoseMarie Swanger's efforts to derail the implementation of Sharia Law into Pennsylvania and her need of their support.
As you know, Sharia law is the path to totalitarian rule enforced by a fascist based and unrelenting political force known to us all as Islam.
The comment at the bottom of The Blaze article you posted says it all..."Islam is like a cancer, you either defeat it or it will defeat you".
We in Pennsylvania are fortunate to have someone in the Legislature who recognizes the terror of Sharia law. Ms Swanger introduced HB 2029 seven months ago and sought co-sponsors to smooth its passage through committee and a final vote.
Only one Bucks county representative is listed as a co-sponsor, the Honorable Paul Clymer.
We have only a few days left, February 1 is the cutoff date, to change that. I am urging your readers to make it a point to get in their families, friends and neighbors faces about this. It is imperative for the preservation of our State and Nation that Sharia law impementation not only be slowed down but stopped dead in its tracks.
Ask everyone you know to visit, call or email their State Representative to encourage them to contact Rep. Swanger's secretary, Lily Horst at 717-787-2686 or email her at lhorst@pahousegop.com to be added as a co-sponsor.
A link to HB 2029 is available at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bucksafa11info/message/63
If any proof is needed of the terror that is awaiting America hidden behind the lying smiles of the Islamofascists the reader can peruse the messages at the bucksafa11 group sight.
But don't miss message #59.

Sometimes when you stand up to the establishment,
it doesn't always go well.
 | Bunker Hill - A rabble of patriots up against the most powerful force on the planet. Yea, they lost, but they let the British know that they were a force to be reckoned with. | But that does not mean it is not worth the fight. There are two ways of interpreting the decision by the Republican State Committee to endorse candidates on Saturday, January 28 at their winter meeting: - The State committee is completely out of touch with the Republican base and especially the grassroots activists (Tea Party) that we should have no respect for them at all.
- The fact that there was even a discussion about the appropriateness of endorsing candidates for the primary and that the vote was 200 in favor and 142 against is a sign that the grassroots are beginning the process of changing the political process in Pennsylvania.
We are inclined to believe the second interpretation. As much as we would have liked to have had the PA GOP agree to not endorse and the fact that there was an effort to prevent grassroots leaders from even being in the PA GOP meeting. There were a dozen or so stories in local media about the controversy over the endorsement process. Here are links to just a few: There were many grassroots groups that protested the matter (A letter that was given to the Chairman of the PA GOP from these groups is available here). There was also a press conference and a demonstration at the winter meeting. Does anyone remember anything like this when Pat Toomey ran against Arlen Specter? We are making a difference. But in order to make a real difference, we need people to get involved in their local committees. To get on the ballot requires 10 signatures from your precinct. We can help with that process. What we need are principled people who are willing to work not only from the outside, but also from the inside where these decisions are made. Local committee seats are filled during the primary every two years. State committee seats are filled every four years. Become a local committee person now ow sign up to work to get a candidate elected now. We can build a base and run candidates in 2014 for State committee. This is a long process. We need not only principled individuals, but those with the perseverance to hold on for the long haul. Here is how Jaime Faucette from Citizens for Constitutional Government put it to a committee person who was thinking of resigning over the issue: We are not defeated. This was not the war. This was only one battle. And we will persevere to fight another day, and another, and another, committee seat by committee seat, State Committee seat by State Committee seat, in each of our boroughs, townships, and counties, whittling away little by little at this mammoth power structure until in time it crumbles - IF we don't quit now. The atmosphere is changing. YOU ARE CHANGING IT. But more change is needed. Here is the way another tea party activist put it: The people of the movement need to be reminded of what they worked so hard for and this is the time to stand up and "fight the system". This fight is a good thing. It demonstrates true debate and resolution (like how the framers fought over the writing of the constitution) when was the last time we saw Democrats fight over what was best for the people? There are glimmers of hope. There is a cut in the fabric of "politics as usual". It will take time to pull back the veil. Grab a knife and grab hold. WE (that includes YOU) can do this. |
Here is the beginning of the letter from the conservative grassroots leaders presented to Chairman Gleason:
Rob Gleason
Chairman, Republican Party of Pennsylvania
112 State Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101
Friday, January 27, 2012
Chairman Gleason,
As grassroots conservative leaders, we are all united in our desire to defeat President Obama and Senator Casey. We were excited by the resounding Republican victories in 2010 and 2011 and the conservative message these candidates espoused.
We are concerned that the Republican State Committee is seeking to make an endorsement in the hotly contested U.S. Senate primary. We believe this would be a mistake as there are many strong candidates in this race.

Hey All, Please spread the word on this panel discussion and consider attending. As per earlier emails, implementing an exchange in PA is de-facto acceptance of ObamaCare. Other states have refused to implement the exchanges in keeping with the spirit of total resistance. Nick Pandelides is leading the fight for our side and is on the panel. There will be more coming out shortly on next steps that individuals and groups can do lobby Harrisburg and exert public pressure to have Pennsylvania's collaboration with ObamaCare ended. You can follow developments on the following facebook page http://www.facebook.com/stopobamacarepa

THE ISSUE: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates that small businesses and individuals must purchase health insurance and obtain government insurance subsidies through state-based federally regulated health insurance exchanges beginning in 2014. States which do not design and administer federally compliant exchanges will default to a federal system. A recent PA Insurance Department announcement that a state-based exchange will be created in PA has generated controversy. Supporters say an exchange designed and administered in PA will serve Pennsylvanians better than one controlled by the federal government. Opponents say it is inconsistent for the Commonwealth to institute provisions of the PPACA while engaged in the constitutional challenge against the law. Our experts will present both sides and answer questions to help YOU decide.
The Lehigh Valley COALITION for Health Care Reform is a non-profit, non-partisan grassroots coalition of concerned citizens and health care professionals committed to educating the public about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and other measures and policies impacting America's health.

Weekly News From Philadelphia ZOA
Shabbat Shalom!

Philadelphia ZOA Quarterly Meeting
Wednesday, Feb. 29, 7:30 p.m., at Temple Beth Hillel/Beth El, 1001 Remington Rd., Wynnewood.
Our guest speaker will be State Representative Curt Schroder, who recently returned from a trip to Israel along with other lawmakers from the commonwealth on a trip sponsored and organized by the Pennsylvania Jewish Coalition. Schroder, a Republican, represents the 155th District, in Chester County. He is serving his ninth term.
The meeting is free and open to the public. Please
encourage those you know to also attend.

We are thrilled to be able to bring to Philadelphia Pamela Geller, a modern-day Jewish superheroine who via her Web site, "Atlas Shrugs" (http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/); speeches; articles; and books alerts us about the dangers of militant Islam and its accomplices who threaten the U.S., Israel and Western Civilization - and she fights back. Come hear her no-nonsense observations and advice. Her topic: "The March of Muslim Extremists: Implications for America, Israel and the West and How To Stop It In Its Tracks." Geller's talk will take place on Monday, March 19, at 6:45 p.m., at the Jewish Community Services Building, 2100 Arch Street, Philadelphia. Tickets are $10, free for students. Call us at 215-338-9188 or email us at zoa@netreach.net for tickets.
We want to let you know Philadelphia ZOA's activities concerning the University of Pennsylvania boycott, divestment and sanctions conference (Penn BDS) taking place next weekend -- as well as a couple good responses.
The Greater Philadelphia District of the Zionist Organization of America has not only been actively engaged in confronting this evil conference but we have been intimately involved in the organized Jewish Community's response and have taken the lead role, through our own ongoing "Buy Israel" campaign, in countering the effort to hurt Israel economically. The organized Jewish community has taken this conference seriously and most of the elements of our community have coalesced to form a unified stance. ZOA has attended and contributed to meetings and conference calls where responses, planning and strategies have been formulated and while there have been points of disagreement, we feel it is important in this instance to speak with one voice. We had input in the official community statement condemning the conference, have been kept apprised of details including the major event with Alan Dershowitz next week and have made suggestions concerning security and other initiatives.
Additionally we have met and spoken with students and partnered with a particularly active student to visit businesses both on campus and around the perimeter -- with samples in hand -- to encourage them to carry items from Israel in their stores and restaurants. ZOA is making sure and providing -- thanks to the good people of Osem USA -- that there will be items from Israel served at special Shabbat dinners at Penn to coincide with the Penn BDS event. We had a letter encouraging people to "Buy Israel" published last week in the Jewish Exponent.
This conference will be in our area for just a weekend, but the foes of Israel are working all the time to harm Israel and the Jewish people. Therefore we who support Israel must be active beyond the period of this conference. I am attaching a copy of our "Buy Israel" flyer with this email. Please use it, circulate it and print it out and take it with you when you do your shopping.

Brooke Goldstein

FrontPage Interview's guest today is Brooke Goldstein, a New York City-based human rights attorney, author and award-winning filmmaker. She serves as director of The Lawfare Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about and facilitating a response to the abuse of Western legal systems and human rights law. Her award-winning documentary film, The Making of a Martyr, uncovers the illegal, state-sponsored indoctrination and recruitment of Palestinian children for suicide-homicide attacks. To view the trailer, click here. Goldstein is the co-author, with Aaron Eitan Meyer, of the recently published Lawfare: The War Against Free Speech: A First Amendment Guide for Reporting in an Age of Islamist Lawfare.
FP: How does lawfare help to stifle free speech about the threats we face? And how did you become engaged in this subject?
BG: I'm a Canadian by birth but I moved to this country because I wanted to practice law and have a tremendous respect for the American Constitution. In the United States people enjoy more rights then ever recognized by a governing authority in the history of civilization. Yet there are many Americans who do not know what their rights are under the First Amendment and who don't understand the implications of its guarantor of free speech. For instance, I get calls and emails from people who don't know that blasphemy is not a crime in this country, or that free speech encompasses the right to speak and write truthfully about religion. I've gotten into discussions with bloggers who thought that hate speech was a crime in this country, which it's not. American citizens have a right to speak freely and critically about their government and about religion. That principle is the cornerstone of liberal democracy and what the founding fathers based the First Amendment on.
You don't have to be a lawyer to understand these rights and people who did not receive a legal education still want to be active citizens. They want to write a blog or an article about, say, their local Muslim Brotherhood-connected chapter or about the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) or about the National Iranian American Council (NIAC). But they're afraid they're going to be targeted with a lawsuit strategically designed to silence their speech. And lawsuits, as we know, are expensive.
I co-wrote Lawfare to encourage journalists, bloggers, members of the media and American citizens at large to exercise their rights and speak freely about the most important issues of our time. The goal of the book is to arm American citizens should they fall victim to such "libel lawfare." To counter the "chilling effect" on free speech about militant Islam. The book serves as a very accessible primer on the First Amendment and as an overview of U.S. libel law versus foreign libel law. It provides case examples of the brave men and women who have been targeted with malicious lawsuits for publishing works exposing the financiers of terrorism and even for parodying religion (like the Danish cartoons of Mohammad.) There is no place in a free society for such stifling of public dialogue, especially when the speech is related to national security issues. I was not prepared to stand by while groups like the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) lobby the U.N. and the U.S. for the resurgence of blasphemy laws. I recommend the book to anyone who may be remotely in lawfare's harms way or who wants to maintain our precious standards of freedom.
FP: Let's say I am an independent writer who wants to publish something about Islamic radicalism. What I should I do to protect myself from these lawsuits?
BG: Number one, get yourself media liability insurance. Everyone who publishes should have media liability insurance, regardless of the fact that what you may write about is true. The whole point of lawfare is to file a frivolous lawsuit, so that even if you win, in the end you still lose time and money spent defending your rights. Media insurance can cost you around $1,500 a year, depending on your risk-liability, but it's super-important and an expense well-spent. Number two, always have a second pair of eyes, preferably an attorney, read over your article with the goal of spotting any potentially libelous statements. And always cache websites. Often people put up information that can be used against them on the web and when they realize that they take it down. If you rely on internet articles you need to cache the articles in case those pages are taken down. If you have any concerns, you should call us at The Lawfare Project. We operate as a non-profit and one of our activities is to hook people up with legal counsel if they need it. We also perform libel review, though we always recommend that people get an attorney to represent them, as we are not a law firm, nor do we take on clients. And finally, you should read our book. It provides really simple examples of people who have been sued in the past, how they won, and what you need to do to protect your rights.

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
- Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
- Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
- Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Lou Flanagan, House Bill 934: Voter ID
"My state Rep. Warren Kampf responded to my question about where the Voter ID bill stands in Harrisburg. His response appears at end of this emaiI. It seems clear that unless we apply pressure to the state senate government committee, this bill will go nowhere. My questions for them are: Where do you stand on the bill? What are you doing to move it out of committee? If you oppose it, tell me why. Who on the committee is against it, and why? Louis: Thank you for the email regarding Voter ID (House Bill 934). The House passed Voted ID on June 23rd. I voted for this bill if you will remember. It is now the responsibility of the Senate to take action to continue to move HB 934 forward. Voter Cheating
You know, comrades," says Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this - who will count the votes, and how. (Boris Bazhanov's Memoirs of Stalin's Former Secretary,1992, only available in Russian. Russia's Vladimir Putin is accused of voter fraud and failure to solve problems with health care availability, immigration control, and unsustainable pensions. Sound familiar? Absolutely. Will he lie? Absolutely. But unlike Obama's ACORN, he will probably admit it.
Background
There are several lines of independent evidence for cheating in the 2012 election:
a) 12/30/11, Voter ID: PA House Bill 934
Eric Holder has ordered his staff not to meddle with cases of voter fraud that involve minorities (J. Christian Adams has written widely about such cases), Salina Zito (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) predicted that PA in November '12 will go according to the Philadelphia suburbs, ACORN has both a record for voter scams and operates new sites in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, our State Attorney General is stepping aside, and there is little public information about Mayor Nutter's views on this matter. Meanwhile, there is an early February deadline from our Governor as Republicans in the PA legislature attempt to define a list of acceptable IDs and Democrats cry that minorities and old people can't handle this demand. I smell more fraud from a bunch- ACORN - already known nationally for fraud and Corbett's February deadline invites some deliberate lapse by the D's...And intrusion by Eric Holder would stall our ID program until after ACORN has done their job for BO ...
b) Jeffrey Kuhner, Washington Times: BO & Voter ID
"...South Carolina's legislation provides for free ID cards to be given to anyone who needs it. Not one person - white, black or brown - is discriminated against or discouraged from casting a vote at the ballot box. Moreover, the Supreme Court already has ruled on the issue - upholding state voter ID laws. In the 2008 Crawford v. Marion County Election Board decision, the high court held that an Indiana law mandating photo identification at the voting booth was indeed constitutional. If it is good enough for the Supreme Court and the overwhelming majority of the states, then it should be for Mr. Holder as well. "It isn't. And the reason is simple: The administration is trying to whip up minority frenzy, propagating the myth of widespread ballot suppression..."
c) Daryl Metcalf, Morning Call: Electoral Integrity (June 18, 2011)
Metcalf is a Republican from Butler County (north of Pittsburgh) "Pennsylvania has a long and ongoing history of documented voter fraud - pre-dating even the frequently forged signature of Mickey Mouse to at least the election of 1918. "Of course, no statewide analysis of voter fraud would be complete without briefly documenting the deeply rooted influence of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
d) Christopher Freind, PA Water Cooler: No ID, No Vote,... Comprende? (June 21, 2011)
"I am not wealthy, but have recently acquired twenty two domiciles throughout Philadelphia. My real estate prowess has afforded me a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our citizens. "I can vote twenty-two times. "You see, I have staked out prime locations, from a cardboard box under the Walt Whitman Bridge to a culvert on Cobbs Creek Parkway to a burnt out shell at 7th and Diamond. Yes, technically, habitating at these locations makes me 'homeless,' but I much prefer the term 'voter-enfranchised.' When you have such a love of democracy, how can anyone have a problem with people who want to vote multiple times, especially the homeless? (Although, in fairness, dead people should only be able to vote once). http://pawatercooler.com/v3/?tag=philadelphia-voter-fraud
e) 11/7/2011, PA ACORN Lives
"Pennsylvania. ACORN PA has become Pennsylvania Communities Organizing for Change (PCOC) and Pennsylvania Neighborhoods for Social Justice (PNSJ).Both were incorporated on January 8, 2010. On July 26, 2010, PCOC filed for another name - Action United - and the organizations now operate under this name. Current board members and staff of these organizations with former ACORN affiliations include: * Lucille Prater Holliday, chair (ACORN member and Democratic state house candidate) * Pat Worrell, co-chair (Chester County, PA ACORN chairman) * Rosa Chacon, secretary/treasurer (ACORN leader in Harrisburg, PA, profiled in ACORN's 2005 annual report) * Fabrico Rodriguez, board member (executive director of Philadelphia Jobs with Justice) * Craig Robbins, executive director (ACORN regional director in Philadelphia, PA) * Maryellen Deckard, southwest regional director (head organizer for ACORN PA) * Jennifer England, communications director (Pittsburg ACORN spokesperson) Action United is located at 846 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130 and 5907 Penn Avenue, Pittsburg(h), PA 15206. The Action United website is www.actionunited.org. http://www.judicialwatch.org/files/documents/2011/acornspecialreport08222011.pdf There is even a Secretary of State project in which leftist groups attempt to bias state elections so that "liberal" Secretaries of State are elected. http://truethevote.org/news/does-your-vote-really-count; http://truethevote.org/news/what-is-the-secretary-of-state-project. There must be some benefit to Republicans if they ignore voter fraud. For example, my acquaintance publishes lists of Republicans who take contributions from unions and refusing to vote against union interests. And conservative Lowman Henry has spoken about the legislative impasse, particularly in the State Senate, produced by about twenty-five who get their money from organized labor. Thus, Nicole Marrone's conclusion is still valid as is Christopher Freind's: "The city of Philadelphia is known for many things: The Liberty Bell, cheesesteaks, water ice, and Santa Claus-booing Eagles fans. But if research that I conducted in 2006 is still accurate today, Philadelphia should also be known for all-inclusive voting - that is, voting regardless of whether one has a pulse or is otherwise eligible to cast a vote..." http://pjmedia.com/blog/small-sample-of-philly-voter-rolls-reveals-hundreds-of-ineligible-names-pjm-exclusive/ There is a bright light on our horizon even though Salena Zito asserted that Pennsylvania electoral votes will depend on turn out in the Philadelphia suburbs: "Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter didn't mince words after four kids were shot and three killed in Philadelphia Tuesday night. "The first way to stop this kind of stuff is for young people to be home when they're supposed to be home, and for adults not to act like idiots and assholes out in the streets of our city shooting at kids in a car," Nutter told FOX 29... A spokesperson for the mayor told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Nutter stood by his statement. "He said what he said. He was clear about it, and he meant it. He said what everybody else was thinking," said spokesman Mark McDonald..." http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/12/philly-mayor-dont-act-like-idiots-and-assholes/ What are Mayor Mike's reactions to fraud? Does he value "value" above "deals"? Meanwhile, many Pennsylvanians look to Harrisburg to pass a "Voter ID" law that requires each of us to carry a card with our photo and address on it. Our Governor also says that he needs the law in place by the first week of February if it is to be used this coming November. On the other hand, I recall my son's friends in college fattening their wallets by selling bogus photo ID to students who wanted to buy liquor. I'm sure ACORN knows how to do such things. The ID cards will make cheating a bit more difficult and more expensive for organizers and possibly, but not necessarily, less frequent. And the rest of us will pay the bills for cheaters...

RedState Morning Briefing
For January 31, 2012
1. Moving Past Florida
More and more polls show two things: (1) tonight Mitt Romney will win Florida and (2) Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum will combined get more votes. In fact, moving forward, the Romney campaign will probably engage in a concerted effort to prop up Rick Santorum because as long as he stays in the race, Gingrich will find it very difficult to stop Romney. More interestingly, if Santorum drops out and Newt Gingrich starts winning, suddenly the establishment will have to take seriously the idea of finding someone to replace Mitt Romney.
I get repeated calls asking me to ask Rick Santorum to get out of the race. I doubt he would even listen and, unlike Rick Perry, Rick Santorum actually won a state. Today he is going to get badly, badly beaten. And it'll probably be downhill from there. But there's no more reason to ask him to get out of the race than Gingrich. He can decide to stay in and help Romney or get out and help Gingrich.
After Florida, the decisions become more crucial.
2. House Conservatives Need to Block the Coming Highway Bailout As part of their ongoing "jobs agenda," House Republicans will unveil this week and soon consider the American Energy & Infrastructure Act (AEIA) to reauthorize transportation spending for five years. The "highway bill" promises a host of reforms (consolidating programs and streamlining red tape) and includes increased oil and gas exploration. But unfortunately these reforms are meant to distract from the overall size of the program, and the fact that such spending will require a massive bailout from federal taxpayers. [Before getting into the proposal, let's first reflect on something. What does it say about a Republican Majority when their number one priority heading into an election year is to pass a massive federal infrastructure bill? I know Republicans are split on the issue, and that many burn all of their anti-Keynes stimulus talking points to give transportation spending a special dispensation as a government "job creator." But really? This is what they want to fight on and draw stark differences with the other party? That is depressing.] 3. End Refundable Tax Credits for Illegals Much ink has been poured over the fact that 51% of tax filers paid no federal income taxes in 2009. There is less attention directed towards the more outrageous statistic; 30% of tax filers had a negative tax liability that year. In other words, they made money off the tax system. Those who won the jackpot on tax day benefited primarily from refundable tax credits; the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC, the refundable portion of child tax credit), and the now-expired Making Work Pay Credit. In 2011, refundable credits cost the treasury about $94.4 billion. Keep in mind that this is just one small portion of the burgeoning welfare empire, approaching $1 trillion in total federal, state, and local expenditures. While it would be nice to get rid of these redistributive "tax expenditures" for everyone, we could start with illegal aliens. 4. Is Newt Much Better on the Question of Mandates? Yesterday I wrote an article on why I view the inevitability of an Obama defeat at the hands of Romney to be less than inevitable. Mostly I attributed this to weakness on a core issue: Obamacare. From my view, Romney cannot adequately take on this topic so long as he insists on defending the principles put forth in Romneycare. His state's rights position plays ok with the base, but I believe it will be less than compelling to the general electorate when it comes time to decide what separates Obama & Romney on this issue. In passing, I mentioned that Gingrich, who previously supported the mandate as well, has since determined that he was wrong and will take that to his debates with Obama should he win the nomination. 5. Secretary Sebelius Scraps Conscience Exception for Health Plans As the implementation of Obamacare rolls into high gear, we've been given insight into how it will be implemented in general. On January 20, the Department of Health and Human Services announced that it would not exempt health plans provided by non-profit religious employers from the requirement to provide "contraceptive services."

Instead of using the term "liberal,"
why not try "libtard"? It's apt (liberal + retard = libtard), it's highly offensive, and quite deliciously un-PC. What's not to like?

How an American 'Jihad Jane' in Beirut conspired to destroy the reputation of a celebrated Lebanese American.

On September 11 the passenger jet as a weapon came crashing into the consciousness of the citizens of the country which had made international air travel viable. Muslim terrorists had viewed planes in terms of the passengers and hijacked planes to take people hostage. But at the beginning of the millennium it was no longer the people that mattered, only the use of the plane as a makeshift missile aimed at the institutions and infrastructure of the free world. This change of tactics was a game changer because it meant the potential casualties of airplane hijackings were no longer limited to the passengers in the air who were now flying around in ICBM's with much less explosive payload, but enough to take down skyscrapers and kill thousands of people. Every passenger was no longer just a risk to other passengers, but a risk to everyone in the Empire State Building, the Sears Tower or any other clumping of people in target areas that could be hit. Jet engine aircraft had passed from military to civilian applications, but the military applications of high speed transportation now returned to dominate the civilian tourism and travel industry that had sprung up and become widely available at the cost of jet travel went down. The most obvious military application of high speed travel is troop transportation and the Muslim world had been using the jet plane for transporting millions of settlers to Western countries. To most citizens of the free world, the military applications of this wave of settlement were not obvious. They would not become obvious until the settlers had given birth to second and third generations which became demographic and domestic terrorist threats. And even then it would remain mostly undiscussed. With the settlement project going full swing, transforming the vehicles of Muslim demographic conquest into flying missiles was dangerous, but the use of domestic flights sidelined much of the security and the discussions that would have followed had the 9/11 hijackers hijacked flights from outside the country. The use of domestic flights by Muslim terrorists who had spent extensive time in America and Europe revealed just how comfortable the Jihad had become operating on infidel soil. Muslim enclaves in America and Europe made it easier for terrorists entering the United States to operate and for the rise of native born Muslim terrorists. At a time when Bin Laden's role had declined, the man who eclipsed him briefly even before his death and played a role in a series of attacks against the United States was Anwar Al-Awlaki, born in New Mexico, whose termination by drone is still agonized over in some liberal and libertarian circles.

The Investors Business Daily editorial below highlights a growing problem on our college campuses.
Who's Vetting Muslim Chaplains On College Campuses? http://news.investors.com/Article/598759/201201241804/college-muslim-chaplains-al-qaida-hamas-background-checks.htm Homeland Security: To please Muslim-rights groups, more and more colleges are hiring Muslim chaplains, only to watch them radicalize students. Campuses need tougher background checks. Alarmingly, some chaplains have actively supported al-Qaida and called for violent jihad against "kaffirs," or infidels. And yet they still have access to students, and remain on the university payroll. Take Imam Abdullah Faaruuq, Muslim chaplain at Northeastern University in Boston. He has urged Muslims to pick up the "gun and sword" on behalf of recently imprisoned al-Qaida terrorists. Last month, Faaruuq held a fundraiser for Aafia Siddiqui, a one-time MIT student also known as "Lady al-Qaida," who's serving an 86-year prison sentence for opening fire on U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. Siddiqui, a senior al-Qaida operative based in Pakistan, was captured with notes about a "mass casualty attack" in the U.S., along with a list of New York landmarks. "What a brave woman she continues to be, and how much her bravery and her faith and her belief warrants our support at this time," said Faaruuq, as he encouraged Massachusetts Muslims to help raise $30,000 for her appeal. "She's only guilty of defending herself," he said. In fact, Siddiqui yelled "Death to America" as she fired on soldiers. A federal judge called her actions premeditated. While ignoring such evidence, the Northeastern chaplain condemned American soldiers as "kaffirs" and exhorted Muslims to "cut through" them with machetes. "Go out and do your job," he said, referring to jihad. No wonder Islamic extremism has spread at Northeastern. Then there's Khalid Griggs, assistant chaplain at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Upon his hiring, Wake Forest's president praised him as a "well-respected individual." Yes, well-respected among the radical Muslim Brotherhood. Griggs has served as a leader of the Islamic Circle of North America, or ICNA, cited in the Muslim Brotherhood's recently declassified founding archives as one of its front groups. He is also a senior official in the Muslim Alliance of North America. MANA was co-founded by radical Muslim cleric Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. "It is difficult to understand how the president of such a respected American university could have remained so oblivious to the serious implications of allowing an individual like Griggs with openly publicized links to the Muslim Brotherhood access to Wake Forest students," said terror expert Clare Lopez. ICNA is an offshoot of the Muslim Students Association, another Brotherhood front. MSA has grown to one of the nation's largest college groups with more than 150 campus chapters. MSA chapters from New York to California have extolled suicide bombers and other terrorists as "martyrs" and the "only people who truly fear Allah." And they are a big reason why, according to a recent Pew Research poll, one in four college-age Muslims in America support suicide bombings. MSA also organizes anti-Israel student rallies, and hectors college administrators into Islamizing campus facilities. MSA and Muslim chaplains work in lockstep. Clearly, regents and administrators are clueless about this dangerous threat. Unless they put in place better vetting systems, radical Islamists will be able to infiltrate college campuses and indoctrinate impressionable students who graduate to become jihadists instead of productive members of society.

Has The Republican Party Repeated the Specter Saga
Saturday, January 28, the republican State Committee disregarded the pleas and petitions of thousands of concerned Republicans to keep an open primary and under pressure from Governor Corbett, endorsed Steve Welch for US Senate. An endorsement will make it extremely difficult for any competitor, because the committee people will be forced to support the endorsee, sample ballots and advertisements will only include the endorsee.
This choice is particularly troublesome because Welch has a questionable political history and it resurrects the Arlene Specter saga.Welch's political resume includes supporting and contributing to liberal Democrat Joe Sestak in his run for Congress in 2006, switching his registration to the Democratic Party that same year, voting for Barack Obama in the 2008 primary, and switching back to the Republican Party in 2009. For whatever reason , it demonstrates his lack of judgment. There were times that I have been, as Welch claimed, disenchanted with the Republican Party liberal leanings and unchecked spending, but I have never experienced a competing Democrat that was to the right of that position. Point in fact, I am strong supporter of the Second amendment, however in 2006 Sestak made clear his strong support for gun control.
I will be frank, I was a Republican Committeeman in 1980 and supported Arlene Specter. Currently, I no longer am a committeeman, but am a very active conservative Republican. Everything changed for me after the 2008 election. We lost the Obama Care battle by only one vote contributed by Arlene Specter's vote after he re-registered as a Democrat. Specter was originally a registered Democrat before becoming a Republican. We cannot blatantly vote for any Republican without investigating the sincerity of his convictions. It is no secret that I have volunteered for the Sam Rohrer campaign, but I have done so because of my scrutiny of his voting record and positions.
I urge all conservative minded Republican electors to carefully examine and determine the political and philosophical convictions of all the candidates and intelligently choose their candidate. Do not choose and vote for a candidate, simply on the directive of the Republican party upper echelon and if you choose a true and consistent conservative candidate, as I did, you will score a win not only for the benefit of PA, but also for the future of the Republican party.

We have the "smoking gun" proving why Justice Elena Kagan simply must recuse herself from the upcoming ObamaCare Supreme Court hearings...
On March 21, the same day that the House of Representatives finally passed ObamaCare, then-Solicitor General Elena Kagan engaged in an email exchange with Lawrence Tribe. Tribe is a renowned liberal Harvard law professor whom the New York Times calls a "liberal legal icon" and "Obama's mentor and former teacher." At the time of the email exchange, Tribe was serving in a specially created capacity in the Justice Department called "Senior Counsel for Access to Justice."
The email exchange all happened under the subject line, "fingers and toes crossed today!" -- clearly indicating that both Tribe and Kagan were discussing with great anticipation the imminent passage of ObamaCare.
At 11:39am, Kagan emailed Tribe:
"I hear they have the votes, Larry!! Simply amazing."
Note Kagan's over-emphasis (two exclamation points) and her gleeful language ("simply amazing").
By late afternoon, ObamaCare was passed, causing Tribe to reply by email:
"So health care is basically done! Remarkable. And with the Stupak group accepting the magic of what amounts to a signing statement on steriods!"
Note that the exclamation points are all Tribe's. He is just as amazed and thrilled as Kagan and even seems gleeful about the fast-one they pulled on Stupak and other pro-life Democrats.
Go here to see the actual "smoking gun" emails that demand Kagan's recusal from the ObamaCare case (you will find it in the right side of the copy):
http://www.grassfire.com/161/petition.asp?Ref_ID=500064
Why does this matter?
First, the Obama team managed to bury the evidence of this "smoking gun" for months. A thorough vetting of Kagan's role in ObamaCare could have forced her to pledge to recuse herself from this case in order to get confirmed.
Second, it clearly shows that Kagan -- as Solicitor General -- had a rooting interest in the passage of ObamaCare. She supported the bill and seemed joyful at the bill's passage. And as the Judicial Crisis Network (JCN) has carefully documented, Kagan engaged her department in the strategy to defend ObamaCare in court "before [ObamaCare] had even been signed into law." JCN also tracks how Kagan was involved in the "deliberative process" for her office's legal defense of ObamaCare.
+ + Citizen Petition Demanding Kagan's Recusal
As you may know, Grassfire Nation has launched a national petition calling on Justice Kagan to recuse herself from the ObamaCare case or to be disqualified by appropriate legal means. Already, more than 40,000 citizens have signed.
Petitions will be delivered in the next two weeks. If you want to be included in this delivery, go here:

It's a sly bit of linguistic manipulation. Who could possibly be opposed to asking others to pay their "fair share"? In theory, everyone supports "fairness." I do, certainly. So when President Obama used his State of the Union address to trumpet "fairness," the Democrats seized on the term, heralding it as their new public-relations concept of choice.
When it comes to taxes, a definition of fairness suited to liberty is the demand that each person pay a reasonable amount of money into the system to defend our Constitutional rights. Because this is what our system is meant to do, this is a reasonable request. The proper purpose of government is to safeguard individual rights. People can be reasonably required to surrender some of their money to protect them.
Our rights certainly aren't being properly safeguarded. But this is not what Obama means when he insists that wealthy people are not paying their "fair share."

Poisoning the well of political rhetoric
Political Futures
"The Republican candidates' circular firing squad now seems to be using machine guns. Whoever the eventual 'last man standing' turns out to be, he may not be standing very tall or very steadily on his feet -- and he may be a pushover for Barack Obama in the general election, thanks to fellow Republicans. Whether you are a Democrat, a Republican or an independent, this is a very serious and historically crucial time for the United States of America. ... 'The politics of personal destruction' -- as Bill Clinton called it, and as he himself practiced it -- is not the way to solve the nation's problems. It has already poisoned the well of political discourse this season and claimed Herman Cain as its first victim, on the basis of unsubstantiated accusations by women with checkered pasts of their own. Whether Herman Cain was good, bad or indifferent as a candidate, and whether his chances of winning the Republican nomination were substantial or non-existent is not the issue. Nor is this the issue as regards Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney or any other candidate. Poisoning the well of political discourse may be one of the reasons why we see such unsatisfactory sets of candidates for political office in both parties, not only this year but in previous election years as well. ... The time is long overdue to get serious." --economist Thomas Sowell
How could each candidate get more serious?
For the Record
"What it appears we are seeing is a new iteration of the age-old split between the grassroots and a perceived GOP establishment. It is like the split between the Goldwater forces and the Rockefeller wing of the party in the 1960s. It is an update of the split between the Buchanan brigades and the establishment in 1992. It is the old True Conservative versus Ambivalent Accomodationist split. Actually it's more a wound than a split, and the only one who healed it in our time was Ronald Reagan. He did it in three ways. He did it by being definitive: We believe in this and this, not that. He healed it by winning: Two landslides told everyone in the party who'd resisted him what time it was. And he healed it by governing well: By 1989, everyone who'd fought him within the party had to look at the results of what he'd done -- the comeback of the U.S. economy, the fall of the Berlin Wall -- and admit that it worked. The healing lasted roughly a quarter-century, until the second Bush administration, when everything began to come apart again. The GOP was now a party split on spending, immigration, a dozen other issues. It was rocked even more than it knew by the crash of 2008, and further sundered. The question now is whether the old split, the old wound, is tearing open in a deeper and more definitive way, in the first real presidential contest since the great healing went fully by the boards." --columnist Peggy Noonan
Opinion in Brief
"Newt [Gingrich] has committed himself to a lunar colony by the end of his second term, and, while pandering to an audience on Florida's 'Space Coast,' added that, as soon as there were 13,000 American settlers on the moon, they could apply for statehood. ... There are times for dreaming big dreams, and there are times to wake up. This country will not be going to the moon, any more than the British or French do. Because, in decline, the horizons shrivel. The only thing that's going to be on the moon is the debt ceiling. Before we can make any more giant leaps for mankind, we have to make one small, dull, prosaic, earthbound step here at home -- and stop. Stop the massive expansion of micro-regulatory government, and then reverse it. Obama has vowed to press on. If Romney and Gingrich can't get serious about it, he'll get his way." --columnist Mark Steyn
Essential Liberty
"The president began [his State of the Union address] with a moving tribute to the armed forces and their accomplishments. But as he has done many times now, he celebrated martial virtues not to rally support for the military, but to cover himself in glory -- he killed Osama bin Laden! -- and to convince the American people that they should fall in line and march in lockstep. ... What Obama is saying, quite plainly, is that America would be better off if it wasn't America any longer. He's making the case not for American exceptionalism, but Spartan exceptionalism. ... Indeed, Obama is upending the very point of a military in a free society. We have a military to keep our society free. We do not have a military to teach us the best way to give up our freedom. ... The promise of American life for Obama is that if we all try our best and work our hardest, we can be like a military unit striving for a single goal. I've seen pictures of that from North Korea. No thank you, Mr. President. ... This nation isn't great because we work as a team with the president as our captain. America is great because America is free. It is great not because we put our self-interest aside, but because we have the right to pursue happiness." --columnist Jonah Goldberg
The Gipper
"How can we not believe in the greatness of America? How can we not do what is right and needed to preserve this last best hope of man on Earth? After all our struggles to restore America, to revive confidence in our country, hope for our future, after all our hard-won victories earned through the patience and courage of every citizen, we cannot, must not, and will not turn back." --Ronald Reagan
Re: The Left
"As the country's first African-American president, Barack Obama had the chance to lead poor African-Americans out of poverty by encouraging them to embrace the principles that would allow them to become self-reliant instead of stoking envy of the successful. He had that responsibility. He has failed to live up to it. That is a tragedy, not only for him, but for those he left behind. Envy has never created a single job, put a family back together, encouraged a man to provide for his children or endowed young women with the kind of self-regard that would encourage them not to create children they too often neglect. The state of many poor African-Americans remains how it has been for years -- too many fatherless children, too many uneducated, hopeless women and too many men in prison. President Obama might have done something about that beyond more government programs and handouts. ... Addicting more and more people to government and the view that others owe them a living is the worst form of covetousness. In case the president missed it in Jeremiah Wright's church, there's a commandment against coveting your neighbor's property." --columnist Cal Thomas
Insight
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself." --Roman statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC)
Faith & Family
"The official Republican response to the President's State of the Union Address was fine -- as far as it went. But Gov. Mitch Daniels missed a golden opportunity to put before the American people a better vision of family, faith, and freedom. ... [G]ov. Daniels could have noted that the policies of the Obama administration are the most antagonistic to the family of any administration in history. This is a fact. With 42% of American children born out-of-wedlock, a tragedy of fatherlessness is being visited on millions of homes. Bill Bennett rightly calls this 'the broken hearth.' And broken hearths lead to broken hearts. Does the president address this in his budget? No. Instead, he gives hundreds of millions to Planned Parenthood, the world's leading trafficker in abortion. ... Yet, President Obama has told Speaker Boehner that any cut in federal funds for Planned Parenthood is 'a non-starter.' President Obama has relentlessly pushed abortion at home and abroad. Obamacare is the most massive expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade. Under Obamacare, health care coverage will include abortion. Thus, we will all be forced to pay for the killing of unborn children. ... To the fires of social discord this administration is adding fuel. To those on the lower rungs of life's ladder, asserting their God-given right to rise, this administration is breaking the first rungs." --columnist Ken Blackwell

The letdown came a few minutes later when I found out they were talking about actual four-legged rodents and not Harry Reid and his cronies in Congress. Morning Bell: Right to Work Heads to Indiana
In 22 states in the Union, workers have the freedom under "Right-to-Work" laws to decide whether or not to pay union dues, and now Indiana is poised to become the twenty-third state on that list, bringing the workers there renewed hope in an economy that has seen few glimmers of light.
Last week, Indiana's House and Senate passed a right-to-work bill after weeks of political maneuvering by pro-union politicians hoping to stop the proposal in its tracks. Today, the legislation returns to the state's Senate for a final vote, and Governor Mitch Daniels (R) has promised to sign the bill into law. Meanwhile, a dozen labor unions have protested the measure, with threats to "occupy" the Super Bowl to be held in Indianapolis next week. Nationally, right-to-work states have become a target, as well. Last year, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) took aim at the Boeing Corporation for its decision to locate a new factory in South Carolina, a right-to-work state. The NLRB attempted to stop Boeing from making fundamental decisions about where to do business - ultimately, it dropped the case after union negotiators reached a deal that benefited their members in a union state.
Proponents of Indiana's measure - which protects workers from being fired for not paying union dues - say that the law will help the state attract more businesses and jobs, spurring economic growth. And there's data that proves it. Heritage's James Sherk writes that right-to-work states have lower unemployment rates (9.2 percent) than states without right-to-work laws (9.9 percent). And though critics say that could be a result of regional differences (right-to-work states are mostly in the South and West), research comparing counties across state lines shows that, "The share of manufacturing jobs in counties in right-to-work states is one-third higher than in adjacent counties in non-right-to-work states," as Sherk explains.

After kicking out illegal aliens Alabama is putting American citizens back to work
Jan 30, 2012 05:13 am | Coach Collins
By Kevin "Coach" Collins
Alabama and Arizona are being sued by Barack Hussein Obama to farther his insidious plan to erase our borders and allow millions of potential new Democrat voters to flow in and snuff out our liberties.
Both states have taken strong measures to get their illegal alien problem under control and both are experiencing improvements in their unemployment rates, but the results in Alabama have been stunning.
Since putting its tough anti-illegal alien bill (H. B. 56) into effect last September Alabama has seen an overnight increase in the number of her citizens working and a drop in the percentage of Alabamians collecting unemployment benefits.
The numbers tell the story and they are embarrassing for Obama. In the first month after H.B. 56 became law Alabama's unemployment rate fell from 9.8 to 9.3 percent. Last month the number dropped to 8.1% which is .4% below the national average. Some quick math ... Continue Reading:After kicking out illegal aliens Alabama is putting American citizens back to work

Obama attorney knows eligibility hearing was disaster for the president Jan 29, 2012 01:13 pm | Coach Collins by Doug Book, staff writer Though we'll not know the outcome of the Georgia hearing regarding ballot eligibility for the nation's number 1 undocumented worker until the first part of February, Barack Obama's high-powered attorney apparently suffered an attack of rapid, shallow breathing just before the courtroom drama was about to unfold. One day prior to the scheduled hearing before Administrative Judge Michael Malihi, Obama attorney Michael Jablonski addressed both a letter to Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp AND an email, directed to the Secretary via one of the court's hearing officers, asking Kemp to cancel the hearing. Georgia law allows "any elector who is eligible to vote for a candidate" to file an objection to that candidate's inclusion on the State ballot. (1) Such objection filings go to the Secretary of State who makes a determination to either overrule or pass them along to the State Administrative Court for disposition. Michael Malihi was the ... Monday, January 30, 2012 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 281 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS Santorum And The Sanctity Of Life No doubt you have heard by now that Senator Rick Santorum's youngest daughter, Bella, fell ill over the weekend and Sen. Santorum returned home to take care of her. Bella has a genetic disorder known as Trisomy 18. Only about 10% of children who have this disorder survive their first year. Once diagnosed, most women are encouraged to have an abortion. Mrs. Santorum refused to do so and Bella is now 3 years old. You can imagine the challenges they face. In a personal conversation with Mrs. Santorum, she made it clear that her family does not see Bella as a burden, but a blessing. Sen. Santorum has often spoken about how Bella "makes us better," how she is not the "disabled one," but how the rest of us can learn from her unconditional love. This weekend, Bella was diagnosed with pneumonia, and, not surprisingly, Sen. Santorum cancelled several events and rushed home. Children with her condition can be killed by colds. Thankfully, she is experiencing what Santorum called a "miraculous recovery" and could be out of the hospital in the next few days. Rick Santorum is running third in the Florida polls, but a recent Gallup poll found that he has the highest overall approval rating of all the candidates. Whatever happens in this campaign, Rick and Karen Santorum have done much to advance the cause of life, and I am thankful for their example. I know you will join me in praying for Bella's continued recovery. The Culture War Continues The economy has dominated the headlines, but the radical secularists have not stopped their assault against our values. Last week, a Rhode Island high school was ordered to remove a prayer that has hung in the school since 1963. According to a federal judge, the prayer "violated the principle of government neutrality in religion." Read the banned prayer that is so "harmful" to our students. Sadly, too many judges today are deeply confused about the meaning of the First Amendment. It guarantees the freedom of religion, so that all may flourish free from government interference, not a freedom from religion. But the First Amendment has been so twisted now that left-wing judges routinely use it to force our schools to be "faith free" zones. For example, religious liberty and free speech rights are under fire in Wisconsin after a student-run school newspaper published pro and con editorials on the subject of homosexual adoption. A Christian student wrote the editorial opposing homosexual adoption and cited the Scriptures as one reason to oppose it. His editorial resulted in a formal complaint being filed against the school district by a gay parent. The school quickly issued an apology for the "offensive" letter. According to the Christian Post, Superintendent Todd Carlson said that the article did not follow school policies, and "the 15-year-old's opinion piece constituted 'bullying.'" The student was reportedly threatened with suspension and banned from writing on topics related to "religion, politics, or social issues." But by punishing this student for expressing his Christian faith, school officials are hardly being neutral. Instead, they are using government force to express their hostility toward faith and free speech. In Maryland, Democrat Governor Martin O'Malley is doing damage control after his wife, a Baltimore judge, referred to opponents of same-sex marriage as "cowards." An attempt to legalize same-sex marriage last year was defeated in the Democrat-dominated state after a revolt by black pastors who objected to a radical redefinition of marriage and the left's frequent comparison of homosexual rights to civil rights. Let me repeat: The culture war is very real. While some on the right mistakenly call for a "truce" on values issues, the left has no intention of letting up until it has fundamentally transformed America on every level -- from taxes and spending to the values we will pass on to our children and grandchildren. This election will decide whether we stop this assault on family, faith and freedom or whether we continue "slouching toward Gomorrah." Occupy Movement Gets Ugly -- Again Members of Occupy Oakland are on the march again. Over the weekend they vandalized Oakland's historic City Hall. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Occupiers "broke into the building, smashed display cases, cut electrical wires and burned an American flag." The report also notes that the protestors are becoming far more aggressive with the police and carrying "elaborate" shields, "6 feet by 4 feet and built from corrugated metal on wood panels, complete with multiple handles." More than 400 people were arrested, adding to the Occupy movement's already extensive rap sheet. Here is a video of Occupiers burning the American flag. Note the anti-Semitic "pledge" being recited as the flag goes up in flames. Unfortunately, this is just a warm up act. The left-wing Canadian magazine Adbusters, which is credited with launching the Occupy movement, is calling for 50,000 radicals to descend on Chicago May 1st, "in the tradition of Chicago 8." This is a reference to the Chicago riots that broke out during the 1968 Democrat National Convention. Steel yourselves. Democrat pollsters have warned that the Occupy movement is unstable and potentially violent. Now the left is using images of violence in its appeals for support. They have big plans to turn 2012 into a year of riots and left-wing radicalism, and some folks, like George Soros, seem "almost gleeful" by the prospect. U.S. Tax Dollars Promoting Anti-Israel Bigotry Kudos to Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ). Last week, Rep. Smith chaired a hearing that exposed the anti-Israel and anti-American bigotry contained in many textbooks used to teach Palestinian children in U.N. refugee camps. For example, a geography lesson for second graders features a map of the Middle East, but Israel is not included. A reading assignment for ninth graders asks students to explain this bit of poetry: "The morning of glory and red liberty watered by the martyrs' blood ... the hope for the Liberation of Palestine." There is much more and worse. The level of hatred and bigotry contained in these textbooks is bad enough. But, unbelievably, American taxpayers are helping to pay for these books by subsidizing the United Nations Refugee and Works Agency (UNRWA). In 2010, the UNRWA got nearly $230 million from American taxpayers. Rep. Smith wants to limit UNRWA funding until the textbooks are purged of such hate. Rep. Smith said, "We are responsible for the content and the content has been, year in and year out, explosively anti-Semitic, anti-American and anti-Israeli. ...If you teach kids to hate when they're very, very young and just keep feeding them that kind of formula for violence, why are we surprised when they strap on dynamite and other kinds of explosives to kill themselves and think they're doing a good thing?" My friends, do not fall victim to the misguided thinking that suggests if only we abandoned Israel, the radical Islamists would leave us alone. There is a reason the mullahs in Iran refer to America, not Israel, as "the Great Satan." Radical Islam is at war with all of Judeo-Christian civilization, and Israel is just one front in that war. Hatred for Israel is also hatred for America.

Mr. and Mrs. Cranky Pants
Posted: 30 Jan 2012 02:28 PM PST
(Scott Johnson)
Michelle Malkin's entertaing column "Mr. and Mrs. Cranky Pants" takes off on Obama's close encounter with Governor Brewer last week. In the column Michelle explores the pettiness of the president and Lady O. She writes that "Chief Touchy-Touchy seems to be personally consumed by our critiques. Yes, mine included." Here is the personal note that adds a poignant touch to the column:
You know those "petty grievances" of "Washington politics" that Obama has long condemned? Now it can be told: He knows whereof he squawks.
As New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor's new book, "The Obamas," reveals, the president and his inner circle spent even more time carping about conservative influence on public opinion. "He wanted the media to be more of a referee; to put unfair Republican charges to rest," Kantor discovered. "He could brush off the wildest, most baseless attacks themselves, he told (senior adviser and Chicago pal) Valerie Jarrett, along with (campaign finance bundler and treasurer) Marty Nesbitt and (bundler and finance mogul) John Rogers, at lunch in the little dining room next to the Oval Office."
But what "galled him," the book observed, "was when they gained mainstream credibility despite distortions of truth."
Kantor then dutifully served as a pro-Obama referee:
"Rogers had just noticed a new book by the conservative columnist Michelle Malkin called 'Culture of Corruption: Obama and His Team of Tax Cheats, Crooks and Cronies.' Among many other allegations, Malkin wrote that Michelle Obama - the president's 'bitter half' - was secretly running the country in Lady Macbeth-like fashion. Malkin even took a hatchet to long-dead Fraser Robinson (Mrs. Obama's father), arguing with no evidence that his job at a water plant made him part of the 'Chicago political corruptocracy.' The book debuted at number one on The New York Times nonfiction bestseller list and stayed there for weeks."
The facts? It was a former alderman in Chicago, Leon Depres, who provided evidence that Robinson's job in the city water department was a reward for loyalty to the Daley political faction.
It was Washington Post writer Liza Mundy who reported that the department was "a renowned repository of patronage jobs."
The pettiness of the president is certainly not his greatest flaw, though I believe it is related to a few other of his unattractive qualities about which Jonathan Last has written perceptively.

The Church against Obamacare
Posted: 30 Jan 2012 05:14 AM PST
(Scott Johnson)
We've noted many times that Obamacare amounts to an assault on limited constitutional government. One small prong of the assault: the Obama administration's recent announcement that all employers (with few exceptions) are required under Obamacare to provide health insurance to their employees which includes subsidized contraception, sterilization and coverage for abortion-inducing drugs.
At Business Insider, Michael Brendon Dougherty comments: "This mean[s] that religious institutions, like Catholic colleges and hospitals, or other Christian institutions would be compelled to violate their conscience by cooperating with that which they believe to be wrong. Currently many of these institutions purchase health-insurance plans which do not provide free coverage of these services." Dougherty reports that in thousands of parishes this weekend, Catholic priests read a version of the following letter to their congregation denouncing this decision as an attack on their religious freedom. Each bishop personally sent the letter out, and so there were some local variations. Here's the one read in the Phoenix Archdiocese. Here's another from the Bishop of Trenton. What follows is from the Bishop of Marquette:
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
I write to you concerning an alarming and serious matter that negatively impacts the Church in the United States directly, and that strikes at the fundamental right to religious liberty for all citizens of any faith. The federal government, which claims to be "of, by, and for the people," has just been dealt a heavy blow to almost a quarter of those people - the Catholic population - and to the millions more who are served by the Catholic faithful.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced last week that almost all employers, including Catholic employers, will be forced to offer their employees' health coverage that includes sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs, and contraception. Almost all health insurers will be forced to include those "services" in the health policies they write. And almost all individuals will be forced to buy that coverage as a part of their policies.
In so ruling, the Obama Administration has cast aside the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, denying to Catholics our Nation's first and most fundamental freedom, that of religious liberty. And as a result, unless the rule is overturned, we Catholics will be compelled to either violate our consciences, or to drop health coverage for our employees (and suffer the penalties for doing so). The Obama Administration's sole concession was to give our institutions one year to comply.
We cannot-we will not-comply with this unjust law. People of faith cannot be made second class citizens. We are already joined by our brothers and sisters of all faiths and many others of good will in this important effort to regain our religious freedom. Our parents and grandparents did not come to these shores to help build America's cities and towns, its infrastructure and institutions, its enterprise and culture, only to have their posterity stripped of their God given rights. In generations past, the Church has always been able to count on the faithful to stand up and protect her sacred rights and duties. I hope and trust she can count on this generation of Catholics to do the same. Our children and grandchildren deserve nothing less.
And therefore, I would ask of you two things. First, as a community of faith we must commit ourselves to prayer and fasting that wisdom and justice may prevail, and religious liberty may be restored. Without God, we can do nothing; with God, nothing is impossible. Second, I would also recommend visiting www.usccb.org/conscience,to learn more about this severe assault on religious liberty, and how to contact Congress in support of legislation that would reverse the Obama Administration's decision.
Sincerely yours in Christ, +Alexander K. Sample Most Reverend Alexander K. Sample Bishop of Marquette
Let's just say the whole damn thing has to go.
Via Lucianne.

Another Blow for the Climateers
Posted: 30 Jan 2012 05:13 AM PST
(Steven Hayward)
Hard on the story noted here the other day of new doubts about catastrophic global warming from the scientific mainstream comes the news from Britain's MET office, which is one of the primary nodes of the global warming establishment, that global temperatures have now been essentially flat for the last 15 years. The UK Daily Mail's story notes:
The supposed 'consensus' on man-made global warming is facing an inconvenient challenge after the release of new temperature data showing the planet has not warmed for the past 15 years. . .
Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997.
The problem for the warmenists is growing, as the actual temperature trend is starting to undershoot even the low end bound of most of the climate models. A few years of flat temperatures could be written off to the chaotic noise of random year-to-year variation, but after two decades (1980-1998) of a more or less steady rise of nearly 0.4 degrees C that seemed to validate the models and the projections, it looks like the warmist case is falling apart rather quickly.
Keep your eyes out to see whether this news is reported anywhere in the American media.

Happy Anniversary to Grave Digger, and Me
Posted: 30 Jan 2012 04:46 AM PST
(Steven Hayward)
Today marks the one year anniversary of my very first Power Line post, and as it happens I can mark this august occasion with the same subject as the first post: monster trucks. Sure enough, while John was out shooting for relaxation this weekend, I was taking in the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam at the Verizon Center, a sport which also requires you to wear ear plugs.
This year's Monster Jam tour features the 30th anniversary of the trailblazer of the sport, the legendary Grave Digger. And once again, Grave Digger came away the winner in the premier event on Saturday afternoon, the freestyle competition, edging out Monster Mutt in the scoring by just one point! You can be forgiven for thinking that monster truck freestyle competition is rigged in favor of Grave Digger, and that the other trucks are the axle-equivalent of the Washington Generals basketball team. But the Digger doesn't always win. Sometimes the truck breaks an axle, blows a tire, or flips over, and someone else wins.
So now it's on to World Finals in Las Vegas in March, where Grave Digger will face off against its arch nemesis, Maximum Destruction.

Dear Patriot,
We all worked very hard in 2010 to elect Republicans to office in Harrisburg, giving them a majority. The expectation was that we would see real reform because their principles were closely aligned with ours.
Instead, Senator Dominic Pileggi-Senate Majority Leader-consistently stalls good legislation in order to maintain his standing with the special interests that support him. This is not the change we worked so hard to achieve.
ROGER HOWARD is challenging Senator Pileggi in the April 24th primary.
Roger is the candidate who truly shares our principles:
-- small government, free markets, and adhering to the Constitution
A win for Roger Howard will send shock waves throughout Pennsylvania and a strong message to all of our legislators.
There are certain truths in the political realm
- It takes many boots on the ground and MONEY to help elect candidate
Roger Howard is the strong, conservative candidate we all say we want elected. We cannot, as Patriots, as tea party members, as concerned citizens, continue to talk about all that is wrong-we must seize the opportunity of supporting a candidate who can help make it right.
All he needs to defeat Senator Pileggi is the help of Patriots throughout Pennsylvania.
As the Majority Leader, Senator Pileggi controls the agenda--winning this one seat will affect ALL Pennsylvanians in a positive way by removing the barrier to good legislation for all Pennsylvthen we need to work for and support candidates who will represent us, and not their own special interests as a career politician.
IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW: I have never asked for donations before but a fact of life for a candidate is that he or she needs money. Please consider contributing to Roger's campaign and please send this letter to anyone you think might be willing to help. No donation is too small.
GROUP ORGANIZERS: please consider sending this message to your membership and other groups in PA. Below is a link to a fund-raising letter. I hope you will take the time to read it and go to roger4pa.com to learn more about Roger Howard and DONATE. This is a monumental project but it can be done!

Is it morally wrong to take a life?
What happens when God is replaced with bioethicists? The national conversation takes a drastic turn for the worse, as we see in this shocking new report which has scientists arguing life is not sacred and that it's ok to kill someone in certain situations. On killing a hypothetical disabled person: "killing her cannot disrespect her autonomy, because she has no autonomy left. It also cannot be unfair to kill her if it does her no harm." Glenn reacts on radio today.
Catholic Church circulates anti-Obama letter
What do you think the MSM's reaction would be if the Bush administration were to create a law that all Muslims were forced to eat bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches daily? Obviously not good - so why hasn't anyone made a peep about the Obama administration's blatant attack on Christianity, specifically Catholics, where institutions would be mandated to cover things that blatantly violated their beliefs. What are they? Find out here.

Restoring Love: What's the latest on the big Restoring Love event this summer? Glenn discussed on radio this morning. Don't forget to register for more information HERE. What's up with people endorsing Gingrich?
Herman Cain has officially come out and supported the Gingrich campaign, while Sarah Palin has come out with some recent statements that seem to indicate the former Alaska gov is indeed supporting Newt as well (plus the circumstantial evidence that Todd Palin came out for Newt). Rick Perry also endorsed the plump progressive who has a fondness for notorious early 20th century progressives. What gives?
The Global Caliphate: 1 year later: Since the MSM was so cheery about the new democracy coming towards the Middle East via the Arab Spring, you'd think there would be some big anniversary celebrations coming up. They can't because they were dead wrong. Glenn has the 1 year update the pundits hope you don't watch...THIS WEDNESDAY. Don't miss it. Check out a preview.
