If a war begins in the neighborhood of the Persian Gulf, it will likely have less to do with a slugging match between Israel and Iran, than a simmering Sunni-Shiite war that is about to flare up into regional violence through a combination of factors dating back decades and recent events in the region. The rise of a fanatically violent Shiite Islamist state has done more to destabilize the region than anything else. As much as Sunni Arabs prattle on about Zionist conspiracies, a few million Jews sandwiched in a narrow strip of land against the Mediterranean are no threat to them. But a rival version of Islam that is spearhead by a non-Arab ethnic group and placed at the service of a powerful military machine and an oil economy is what keeps them up at night. The fall of Saddam put Iraq up for grabs and raised the prospect of a Shiite superstate with a vast military and massive oil reserves. It also tipped Syria and its leftover Baath Party run by a variant Shiite sect directly into Tehran's paws. Add nuclear weapons to the Iran-Iraq-Syria trinity and you are looking at the worst nightmare of every Sunni Arab prince living in polished oil mansions near what he still insists on calling the Arabian Gulf. A Shiite superstate will checkmate the Sunni oil monarchies and leave them no choice but to beg America to garrison them with so many troops, air bases and nuclear missiles that they might as well be the 51'st through 59th states. Using foreign soldiers to protect themselves isn't all that objectionable to the fat lazy oil monarchies who already use armies of foreigners to do everything for them. But the American troops who saved the Saudis and Kuwaitis from Saddam also gave Bin Laden a pretext for turning the conflict on its axis. Read more:

Hey All, Please spread the word on this panel discussion and consider attending. As per earlier emails, implementing an exchange in PA is de-facto acceptance of ObamaCare. Other states have refused to implement the exchanges in keeping with the spirit of total resistance. Nick Pandelides is leading the fight for our side and is on the panel. There will be more coming out shortly on next steps that individuals and groups can do lobby Harrisburg and exert public pressure to have Pennsylvania's collaboration with ObamaCare ended. You can follow developments on the following facebook page http://www.facebook.com/stopobamacarepa

THE ISSUE: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates that small businesses and individuals must purchase health insurance and obtain government insurance subsidies through state-based federally regulated health insurance exchanges beginning in 2014. States which do not design and administer federally compliant exchanges will default to a federal system. A recent PA Insurance Department announcement that a state-based exchange will be created in PA has generated controversy. Supporters say an exchange designed and administered in PA will serve Pennsylvanians better than one controlled by the federal government. Opponents say it is inconsistent for the Commonwealth to institute provisions of the PPACA while engaged in the constitutional challenge against the law. Our experts will present both sides and answer questions to help YOU decide.
The Lehigh Valley COALITION for Health Care Reform is a non-profit, non-partisan grassroots coalition of concerned citizens and health care professionals committed to educating the public about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and other measures and policies impacting America's health.

Patriots,
Things are really starting to heat up in this campaign to get Sam to the US Senate. We are now looking for volunteers to help us in Chester County, particularly in the northern and northeastern areas of the county. We need people to help get petitions signed, hand out literature in the neighborhoods, work the polls on election day, hold home meetings when Sam is in the area, and who knows what else will come up. Could you please send this out to your group to see if anyone would like to help. They can contact me directly either by email or by phone. Thanks for your help. Looking forward to seeing you at the victory party.

Thomas Jefferson: "Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers....a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."
But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it's been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
- Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
- Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
- Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Lou Flanagan, House Bill 934: Voter ID
"My state Rep. Warren Kampf responded to my question about where the Voter ID bill stands in Harrisburg. His response appears at end of this emaiI. It seems clear that unless we apply pressure to the state senate government committee, this bill will go nowhere. My questions for them are: Where do you stand on the bill? What are you doing to move it out of committee? If you oppose it, tell me why. Who on the committee is against it, and why? Louis: Thank you for the email regarding Voter ID (House Bill 934). The House passed Voted ID on June 23rd. I voted for this bill if you will remember. It is now the responsibility of the Senate to take action to continue to move HB 934 forward. I would advise you to contact the Senators who comprise the Senate State Government Committee, those in Senate leadership positions and your local Senator to let them know of your desire to move this forward. Also you may ask for an accounting of why this has been held up and not considered. Please let me know if I can help with other state-related matters. Voter Cheating
You know, comrades," says Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this - who will count the votes, and how. (Boris Bazhanov's Memoirs of Stalin's Former Secretary,1992, only available in Russian. Russia's Vladimir Putin is accused of voter fraud and failure to solve problems with health care availability, immigration control, and unsustainable pensions. Sound familiar? Absolutely. Will he lie? Absolutely. But unlike Obama's ACORN, he will probably admit it.
Background
There are several lines of independent evidence for cheating in the 2012 election:
a) 12/30/11, Voter ID: PA House Bill 934
Eric Holder has ordered his staff not to meddle with cases of voter fraud that involve minorities (J. Christian Adams has written widely about such cases), Salina Zito (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) predicted that PA in November '12 will go according to the Philadelphia suburbs, ACORN has both a record for voter scams and operates new sites in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, our State Attorney General is stepping aside, and there is little public information about Mayor Nutter's views on this matter. Meanwhile, there is an early February deadline from our Governor as Republicans in the PA legislature attempt to define a list of acceptable IDs and Democrats cry that minorities and old people can't handle this demand. I smell more fraud from a bunch- ACORN - already known nationally for fraud and Corbett's February deadline invites some deliberate lapse by the D's...And intrusion by Eric Holder would stall our ID program until after ACORN has done their job for BO ...
b) Jeffrey Kuhner, Washington Times: BO & Voter ID
"...South Carolina's legislation provides for free ID cards to be given to anyone who needs it. Not one person - white, black or brown - is discriminated against or discouraged from casting a vote at the ballot box. Moreover, the Supreme Court already has ruled on the issue - upholding state voter ID laws. In the 2008 Crawford v. Marion County Election Board decision, the high court held that an Indiana law mandating photo identification at the voting booth was indeed constitutional. If it is good enough for the Supreme Court and the overwhelming majority of the states, then it should be for Mr. Holder as well. "It isn't. And the reason is simple: The administration is trying to whip up minority frenzy, propagating the myth of widespread ballot suppression..."
c) Daryl Metcalf, Morning Call: Electoral Integrity (June 18, 2011)
Metcalf is a Republican from Butler County (north of Pittsburgh) "Pennsylvania has a long and ongoing history of documented voter fraud - pre-dating even the frequently forged signature of Mickey Mouse to at least the election of 1918. "Of course, no statewide analysis of voter fraud would be complete without briefly documenting the deeply rooted influence of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
d) Christopher Freind, PA Water Cooler: No ID, No Vote,... Comprende? (June 21, 2011)
"I am not wealthy, but have recently acquired twenty two domiciles throughout Philadelphia. My real estate prowess has afforded me a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our citizens. "I can vote twenty-two times. "You see, I have staked out prime locations, from a cardboard box under the Walt Whitman Bridge to a culvert on Cobbs Creek Parkway to a burnt out shell at 7th and Diamond. Yes, technically, habitating at these locations makes me 'homeless,' but I much prefer the term 'voter-enfranchised.' When you have such a love of democracy, how can anyone have a problem with people who want to vote multiple times, especially the homeless? (Although, in fairness, dead people should only be able to vote once). http://pawatercooler.com/v3/?tag=philadelphia-voter-fraud
e) 11/7/2011, PA ACORN Lives
"Pennsylvania. ACORN PA has become Pennsylvania Communities Organizing for Change (PCOC) and Pennsylvania Neighborhoods for Social Justice (PNSJ).Both were incorporated on January 8, 2010. On July 26, 2010, PCOC filed for another name - Action United - and the organizations now operate under this name. Current board members and staff of these organizations with former ACORN affiliations include: * Lucille Prater Holliday, chair (ACORN member and Democratic state house candidate) * Pat Worrell, co-chair (Chester County, PA ACORN chairman) * Rosa Chacon, secretary/treasurer (ACORN leader in Harrisburg, PA, profiled in ACORN's 2005 annual report) * Fabrico Rodriguez, board member (executive director of Philadelphia Jobs with Justice) * Craig Robbins, executive director (ACORN regional director in Philadelphia, PA) * Maryellen Deckard, southwest regional director (head organizer for ACORN PA) * Jennifer England, communications director (Pittsburg ACORN spokesperson) Action United is located at 846 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130 and 5907 Penn Avenue, Pittsburg(h), PA 15206. The Action United website is www.actionunited.org. http://www.judicialwatch.org/files/documents/2011/acornspecialreport08222011.pdf There is even a Secretary of State project in which leftist groups attempt to bias state elections so that "liberal" Secretaries of State are elected. http://truethevote.org/news/does-your-vote-really-count; http://truethevote.org/news/what-is-the-secretary-of-state-project. There must be some benefit to Republicans if they ignore voter fraud. For example, my acquaintance publishes lists of Republicans who take contributions from unions and refusing to vote against union interests. And conservative Lowman Henry has spoken about the legislative impasse, particularly in the State Senate, produced by about twenty-five who get their money from organized labor. Thus, Nicole Marrone's conclusion is still valid as is Christopher Freind's: "The city of Philadelphia is known for many things: The Liberty Bell, cheesesteaks, water ice, and Santa Claus-booing Eagles fans. But if research that I conducted in 2006 is still accurate today, Philadelphia should also be known for all-inclusive voting - that is, voting regardless of whether one has a pulse or is otherwise eligible to cast a vote..." http://pjmedia.com/blog/small-sample-of-philly-voter-rolls-reveals-hundreds-of-ineligible-names-pjm-exclusive/ There is a bright light on our horizon even though Salena Zito asserted that Pennsylvania electoral votes will depend on turn out in the Philadelphia suburbs: "Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter didn't mince words after four kids were shot and three killed in Philadelphia Tuesday night. "The first way to stop this kind of stuff is for young people to be home when they're supposed to be home, and for adults not to act like idiots and assholes out in the streets of our city shooting at kids in a car," Nutter told FOX 29... A spokesperson for the mayor told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Nutter stood by his statement. "He said what he said. He was clear about it, and he meant it. He said what everybody else was thinking," said spokesman Mark McDonald..." http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/12/philly-mayor-dont-act-like-idiots-and-assholes/ What are Mayor Mike's reactions to fraud? Does he value "value" above "deals"? Meanwhile, many Pennsylvanians look to Harrisburg to pass a "Voter ID" law that requires each of us to carry a card with our photo and address on it. Our Governor also says that he needs the law in place by the first week of February if it is to be used this coming November. On the other hand, I recall my son's friends in college fattening their wallets by selling bogus photo ID to students who wanted to buy liquor. I'm sure ACORN knows how to do such things. The ID cards will make cheating a bit more difficult and more expensive for organizers and possibly, but not necessarily, less frequent. And the rest of us will pay the bills for cheaters...

Greetings folks, As was mentioned in our meeting, we'll try to put out a follow-up email as a summary/minutes following every meeting. First note: All upcoming events are posted on the website - many interesting ones, like a PA senate debate on the 19th and a disaster preparedness seminar at Rock on Feb 3-5. MOVIE NIGHT FOR JAN 19th IS CANCELED DUE TO PA SENATE CANDIDATE DEBATE! On Jan 12 Central MontCo meeting, these events transpired: 1) Jim, the coordinator who led this meeting, was thoroughly embarrassed by his slow computer. 2) I asked: It's a fact, some people need help. The progressive's solution is to tax and feed entitlements and expand the definition of who needs help. What is the tea party's answer to this? Paul D's characteristicly beautiful response was basically that before the welfare state, it used to be the churches and other charitable organizations that concerned themselves with the well-being of the less-fortunate. He mentioned a book that explores this: The Tragedy of American Compassion by Marvin Olasky ($18 from amazon.com) 3) Marilyn is researching how we can be involved in preventing voter fraud. We played a www.projectveritas.com video of conservative activists exposing how easy it was to get the ballots of deceased people in the New Hampshire primary last week. Marilyn is working on a voter roll purge or similar activity we can do. 4) Susan Love, of Valley Forge Patriots, briefly presented the Freedom Index, which she uses to create awesome "report cards" on any politician using their voting records. Several of us are planning to use this tool for our 2012 activity. She would be happy to make one for you. Her email is slove@cclind.com. Thanks Susan, you're welcome any time. 5) Our main speaker was Phil Duffy, whose fascinating yet distressing presentation called "The Greatest Scam in American History?" reported on the incredible events and institutions that led to our economic calamity. Phil's resource was a book called "Reckless Endangerment" by Gretchen Morgenson. Jim did an abysmal job introducing Phil, who deserves more than that. Phil's bio is below. 6) Kathy B, Doug S, Marilyn, Vanessa, Pam, and Jim had a great day helping at the Habitat ReStore on Saturday. We will organize another trip for more of you to have the chance to help. Thanks for organizing Vanessa! Report and photos on our website. -Jim Phil Duffy's presentation summary and bio:
The Greatest Scam in American History?
It was caused by corrupt legislators that our fellow citizens put in office. It was caused by their partners, the large, immoral financial institutions who were given an open door to wealth. It was caused by regulators who were prevented from regulating.
Tens of millions were made by those in charge; tens of thousands donated to complicit politicians, Hundreds of billions were lost by ordinary Americans. Members of both political parties were involved. All have escaped any consequences.
Phil Duffy has performed an exhaustive review based on recently published sources, and will present his findings. He names names, explains who did what, and when. The scope of the corruption is almost overpowering, and Phil lays it all out in gory detail. And he'll provide a handout, a single page listing the shameful dealing and double dealing that has nearly brought our country to its knees.
Phil Duffy is a graduate of Rutgers University and majored in International Business and Economics at NYU's Graduate School of Business. After service in the U.S. Army, Duffy spent much of his career in marketing, information systems and management consulting, with such firms as GE, McDonnell-Douglas and Coopers & Lyabrand. While with GE, he analyzed health care legislation, regulation and systems, including the UK's National Health Service.
A resident of West Chester, he currently teaches The Constitution and Bill of Rights for Widener University's lifelong Learning Institute and will teach a course on economics (Whatever Happened to Penny Candy?) for this program in the spring of 2012.

As we forge ahead to the new legislative session, it is important that we internalize the lessons of the dismal failures from last session.
Most of the dominant and sundry legislative battles last year can be explicated by the inane cycle of Republican capitulation. It goes something like this:
Democrats propose some odious and profligate legislative idea or budget bill. Conservatives advocate that we uproot the entire premise of the destructive legislation by drawing a line in the sand on the principles that got us elected. Republican leaders eschew conservative principles and acquiesce to the premise that the Democrat legislation or budget is a priority too big to fail. They telegraph the message to Democrats that they will never let the budget bill or stimulus proposal fail, but promise to make them pay for it with reforms or other spending offsets.
Inevitably, Democrats unite against the GOP leadership proposal, and we are left with the GOP caving on the spending without the offsets. Then they unequivocally swear to stick it to the Democrats during the next budget battle by finally utilizing their leverage. Repeat and rinse and needed. As the saying goes, the rest is history.
2. Requiescat in Pace, Jon Huntsman for President Campaign Well, it looks like Iowa and New Hampshire both get to claim one official victim in the 2012 GOP Presidential sweepstakes as Jon Huntsman is announcing today that he is going to be the first to follow Michele Bachmann out the door. Huntsman never managed to get off the floor nationally, and wasn't able to make enough of a dent in New Hampshire (the one state he actively campaigned in) to gain sufficient momentum and money to carry his campaign forward. So he made one of the few sensible political choices he's made in this run and decided to drop out while he's not too far behind. Governor Huntsman was good enough to sit down and talk with me at relative length during the campaign season (see here), and I came away liking Huntsman much more than I did going in. However, even in that interview you could see the seeds of political tone-deafness that ultimately doomed Huntsman's campaign. For instance, Huntsman is the only Presidential candidate I am aware of who has kicked off his campaign by taking a job working for the incumbent he hopes to defeat. I cannot for the life of me understand why or how Huntsman was unable to perceive how this would play with the GOP primary electorate. Ultimately, I get how and why Huntsman took the job as ambassador to China; he should have understood, however, that it was a choice that would make it impossible for him to run for President in 2012. 3. Inside the Mind of a SEIU Political Activist & Insider Meet Jessica Shearer, Executive Director of the Healthcare Education Project at 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. In the 14-minute video below, Ms. Shearer, sitting in a panel discussion (with an unknown Tea Party activist beside her), discusses a variety of topics, such as: - The current excitement over the OccupyWallSt movement and what it means to the union movement
- The inability of unions to motivate their own members
- The half-empty buses to last year's One Nation rally
- The election Barack Obama and the subsequent disappointment on his (and the SEIU's) "caving" on health care reform
- The failure of Barack Obama's Organizing for America to realize its potential
- ...and much more
View the video in its entirety. It is an insightful look into the mind of a SEIU activist and insider...a collectivist.

While many conservatives rightly admire Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul's principled economic and constitutional views, they are often bamboozled, even appalled, by the Texan's defense and foreign policy ideas.
Ron Paul
It seems, that when it comes to defense, Ron Paul is stuck in 1776. He seems not to realize that America's enemies, real or potential, Russia and China, and Iran chief among them, have a very long reach. The continental US is only partially protected by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans . The enemy can now attack the American homeland with ICBMs, biological weapons, cyber warfare, dirty bombs smuggled across the Mexican border - any number of deadly methods of mass destruction.
Just as frontier forts would have outposts to warn of Indian attack, the US needs people all over the world to protect not just her friends and allies, but the American homeland itself.
Why then does Ron Paul, a man so supremely rational in many areas, have such a blind spot when it comes to US national security?
The answer, in my opinion, is that Ron Paul's justified distrust at the growth of government power in many unconstitutional areas, has irrationally created an antipathy to Federal Government activity in one of its few legitimate areas - national defense.

The New American Way: Bailouts and Dependency
This is the third installment of a multi-part series on suggested economic policies for the next government to consider. These are meant to be long-term solutions.
Government welfare is addicting. It creates dependency by the recipients and control for the government. Federal welfare takes many forms. We tend to focus on the part that is meant for the poor but that may be the least offensive version. The program is ineffective and immoral but at least we can see the need.
From an economic point of view, many of the other versions are far more dangerous; welfare programs distort market signals. They reward and encourage inefficiencies, wastefulness and even corruption. These programs are not charity, they are vote buying. Charity is when you give YOUR OWN money, not someone else's.
But, the federal dependency has many more facets. There are countless businesses lined up at the trough to get their taxpayer feeding. Solyndra is but one example and even it is not the most egregious for the simple fact that it received a grant, a one-time thing. These are bad enough and there are plenty of other examples but the real culprit in all of this is the entire dependency system that the federal government encourages and perpetuates.

Crime Anti-Semitic Hate: Vandals Spray-Paint 'Die Jews' & Swastikas on Brooklyn Buildings
January 16, 2012
Anti-Jewish hate crimes continue to plague New York City. Over the weekend, Midwood, Brooklyn, was the latest area to fall prey to anti-Semitic actions. At least three buildings were spray-painted with swastikas and the words "Die Jew" were painted on a garage door at a private home.
Following the most recent string of hate, residents are concerned that more anti-Jewish occurrences are soon to plague the local community. See, Midwood has one of the largest populations of Holocaust survivors in the United States. Gothamist has more:
The "Die Jews" message is believed to have been left sometime before midnight Saturday, and two swastikas were also painted on the door of an apartment building at across the street. On Sunday morning, two big swastikas were also found on the Yeshiva of Brooklyn school on Ocean Parkway and Avenue L.

Martin Luther King, Jr., was an opponent of the jihad against Israel. While there are some disputed quotations circulating in this connection, here are some key and authenticated MLK quotes:
"I cannot stand idly by, even though I happen to live in the United States and even though I happen to be an American Negro and not be concerned about what happens to the Jews in Soviet Russia. For what happens to them happens to me and you, and we must be concerned."
"Israel's right to exist as a state in security is uncontestable." "Peace for Israel means security, and we must stand with all our might to protect its right to exist, its territorial integrity. I see Israel as one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security and that security must be a reality." "I solemnly pledge to do my utmost to uphold the fair name of the Jews -- because bigotry in any form is an affront to us all." "When people criticize Zionists they mean Jews, you are talking anti-Semitism."

Single state defies Obama detention plan
|
When Congress adopted and Barack Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, alarms were raised over the possibility that it would allow the indefinite and rights-free detention of those who are called "belligerents," even if they are American citizens. While the argument over those provisions rages, one lawmaker in has jumped into action to protect the danger he sees for residents of his state.

Not. good. Speculation is rife today on who canceled the exercise and why. Several different scenarios are circulating, including a craven, weak Obama and a lack of trust by a fearful Israel.
Israel, US agree to postpone missile defense exercise Jerusalem Post (hat tip Daniel F)
Israel and the US have agreed to postpone a missile defense exercise billed as the largest ever in the country's history by two or three months.
In recent weeks, the defense establishment held talks with the Pentagon about postponing the drill, which was initially scheduled for April.
Officials refused to elaborate on the reasons behind Israel's request to postrpone the drill, but said they were mostly "technical and logisitical."
"Election-year considerations" lay behind Obama's caution over sanctions, says Vice Premier Moshe Ya'alon, as he voiced disappointment with the Obama administration on Sunday.

by Soeren Kern, STONEGATE INSTITUTE German authorities have officially confirmed that they are monitoring German-language Internet websites that are critical of Muslim immigration and the Islamization of Europe.
According to Manfred Murck, director of the Hamburg branch of the German domestic intelligence agency, the Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV), his organization is studying whether German citizens who criticize Muslims and Islam on the Internet are fomenting hate and are thus criminally guilty of "breaching" the German constitution. The BfV's move marks a significant setback for the exercise of free speech in Germany and comes amid a months-long smear campaign led by a triple alliance of leftwing German multicultural elites, sundry Muslim groups and members of the mainstream media, who have been relentless in their efforts to discredit the so-called counter-jihad movement (also known as the "Islamophobes") in Germany.

I haven't seen any signs that Obama wants regime change. That would require ground troups. Ted Belman By Barbara Slavin, ASIA TIMES WASHINGTON - The Barack Obama administration is increasingly giving the impression that it supports a policy of regime change against Iran - a policy that could backfire and convince Iran to build nuclear weapons. Senior United States officials have suggested recently that mounting economic sanctions were meant to "tighten the noose" around the Iranian government. The Washington Post on Tuesday quoted an unnamed senior US intelligence official as saying that the goal of sanctions was regime collapse. The Post later amended the story to say that the official had been misquoted and that the Obama administration hoped sanctions would increase "public discontent that will help compel the government to abandon an alleged nuclear weapons program". On Wednesday, meanwhile, unknown assailants assassinated the... Read the whole entry ŧ

Well it's certainly weird enough for those of us old enough to remember Canada in the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties when it was little more than an embarrassing liberal-lefty joke. Sure we still remembered the suffering and courage of those plucky Canucks from Vimy Ridge to Dieppe to the Low Countries, but that spirit appeared long since to have vanished under the noisome regime of Pierre Trudeau and his grisly communitarian successors. FreedomWorks Foundation Hosts Sneak Peek of Runaway Slave
On January 13, FreedomWorks Foundation helped host a sneak peek viewing of a powerful new documentary about race, politics, and individual liberty entitled Runaway Slave. Attending this sold out screening were some of the most prominent African-Americans in the conservative movement including former presidential candidate Herman Cain, talk show host David Webb, political humorist AlfonZo Rachel, and the star of Runaway Slave, Rev. C.L. Bryant. The documentary follows Bryant as he interviews African-American politicians, holds meetings with community activists, and discovers the unknown history of the Civil Rights Movement. Runaway Slave also exposes the NAACP as a mouthpiece of the Democratic Party, and the NAACP's leaders as the ultimate "race hustlers" who perpetuate-and profit-from a victim mentality that hurts the African-American community. The theme of Runaway Slave is compelling: while the African-American community has triumphed over the scourge of physical slavery, many still suffer from a mental slavery-to government. And what emerges from this posit is an authentic and honest discussion of race in America, a discussion Americans need to have together. "There is a 50-year-old lie that has caused an entire people to become harlots to the political idea that government knows what is best," declares Bryant. Committed to destroying that lie by creating a "new Underground Railroad", Bryant interviews visionaries like Dr. Alveda King, Economist Thomas Sowell, Florida Congressman Allen West, Presidential Candidate Herman Cain, commentator and activist Star Parker and talk show host David Webb. Watch reactions to the screening of Runaway Slave. Founder of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, Timothy Johnson, provides perhaps the most commanding moment in the film, declaring that he sees himself as more than an African-American: "I am an American." "No matter where you place yourself on the political spectrum, this film is worth viewing. It offers insights into the last fifty years of the American experience that are valuable to any citizen," wrote a film critic after the screening. "The conclusion of the film is extremely powerful and will be moving for anyone who loves the United States of America." Find out more about the film here. We are now in the process of hosting more viewings of Runaway Slave across the country, but we need your help. Please spread the word about this important film and consider a tax-deductible donation to FreedomWorks Foundation to help us get this film into as many theaters as possible. America needs to see this film, please donate now.

The three who brought down Wall Street. Here's a quick look into the three former Fannie Mae executives who brought down Wall Street. Franklin Raines - was a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Fannie Mae. Raines was forced to retire from his position with Fannie Mae when auditing discovered severe irregularities in Fannie Mae's accounting activities. Raines left with a "golden parachute valued at $240 Million in benefits. The Government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear. Tim Howard - was the Chief Financial Officer of Fannie Mae. Howard "was a strong internal proponent of using accounting strategies that would ensure a "stable pattern of earnings" at Fannie. Investigations by federal regulators and the company's board of directors since concluded that management did manipulate 1998 earnings to trigger bonuses. Raines and Howard resigned under pressure in late 2004. Howard's Golden Parachute was estimated at $20 Million! Jim Johnson - A former executive at Lehman Brothers and who was later forced from his position as Fannie Mae CEO. Investigators found that Fannie Mae had hidden a substantial amount of Johnson's 1998 compensation from the public, reporting that it was between $6 million and $7 million when it fact it was $21 million." Johnson is currently under investigation for taking illegal loans from Countrywide while serving as CEO of Fannie Mae. Johnson's Golden Parachute was estimated at $28 Million. *********************************************************************************** WHERE ARE THEY NOW? FRANKLIN RAINES? Raines works for the Obama Campaign as his Chief Economic Advisor. TIM HOWARD? Howard is a Chief Economic Advisor to Obama under Franklin Raines. JIM JOHNSON? Johnson was hired as a Senior Obama Finance Advisor and was selected to run Obama's Vice Presidential Search Committee. Kinda makes you sick to your stomach. Our government seems to be rotten to the core ! Are we stupid or what? Vote in 2012.. it is the most important election in the history of America. |

By Kevin "Coach" Collins
We know the media will not help save America. They hate America as much as Obama does and always have. When Obama came on the scene they sprung to life behind the leader they always yearned for but could never find.
To save America we have to keep asking questions and keep demanding answers. We have to talk to friends, co-workers and family asking these questions about Obama the media won't ask.
Why did Watergate forced Nixon out but Fast and Furious has not touched Obama or Holder?
Why did Eric Holder participate in a cover-up of the circumstances of the Oklahoma City bombing? What does Obama know about Oklahoma City?
Why does the media accept Obama's "safety concerns" to kill the Keystone pipeline when EVERY lower 48 state has a pipeline running through it?
Why did Obama give Brazil money for off shore drilling while continuing to ... Continue Reading:Since the media won't ask these questions about Barack Obama we who want to save America must

It is expressed in the various black nationalist groups...the largest being Elijah Muhammad's Muslim movement. Nourished by frustration over racial discrimination, this movement is made up of people who have lost faith in America...I have tried to stand between these two forces...for there is the more excellent way of love." Senate bill authorizes federal government to revoke citizenship of the American people! Jan 15, 2012 01:13 pm | Coach Collins by Doug Book, staff writer A bill has been introduced in the United States Senate which will authorize the federal government to revoke the citizenship, creating practical expatriates, of American citizens. Introduced by Connecticut Independent Joe Lieberman and Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown, S 1698, the "Enemy Expatriation Act," is a simple, 2 page document which offers apparently innocent amendments and additions to existing federal legislation. (1) That legislation, known as Title 8, "...outlines the role of aliens and nationality in the U.S. Code." And it is just one small piece of this massive and complex law which the Enemy Expatriation Act seeks to modify, that being Section 349, the means by which "a person who is a national of the United States whether by birth or naturalization, shall lose his nationality...," that is, his citizenship. (2) Though there is currently little contained in Section 349 which would alarm any American citizen, one phrase added to ... Appeasing Ron Paul Won't Work
Jonathan S. Tobin | @tobincommentary 01.13.2012 As Alana noted, Republicans are rightly concerned about Ron Paul playing a destructive role in the presidential campaign this fall. Efforts to keep him on the reservation are already beginning, and there is little doubt the significant number of delegates he may win for the party's national convention in Tampa will have to be dealt with carefully lest they cause trouble and sabotage what will in all likelihood be Mitt Romney's coronation.
But I think the GOP would be foolish to go too far in seeking to make nice with Paul. His followers are just as likely to vote for Barack Obama or simply stay home as they are to back Romney or any other mainstream Republican. That's why giving Paul a prime time speech at the convention would be a disaster.
The analogy Charles Krauthammer made to Pat Buchanan's culture war speech at the 1992 convention is quite instructive. Though his address has gone down in history as a devastating embarrassment for the elder President Bush and his party, its test was not as crazy as most people remember. In comparison to one of Ron Paul's crackpot rants about the Federal Reserve and the destructive role America has played in the postwar world, the social conservative battle cry delivered by Buchanan in Houston looks fairly normal.

Will Republicans Commit Romney-cide? GrassTopsUSA Exclusive Commentary By Don Feder 01/08/2012 Since 1976, every time the GOP has run a RINO for president, the party has suffered an ignominious defeat - against a peanut farmer in '76, a serial lecher in '92 and a Marxist in 2008. But Mitt Romney isn't taking any chances. Should he secure the nomination, his primary campaign will ensure his defeat in November - 9% unemployment, a national debt hurtling toward the abyss, socialism and surrender notwithstanding. Last week, Romney was beaming over what he called his "historic victory" in the Iowa caucuses. Out of 60,000 votes cast for Romney and former Senator Rick Santorum, Romney beat the Pennsylvanian (who didn't even register on the Richter scale last year) by a whopping 8 votes, or .00001 percent. Mitt was actually down 6 votes from his 2008 total (30,021 to 30,015), despite a record turnout this year. The victory was even more stupendous in light of the fact that Romney - who's been campaigning in the Hawkeye state for 5 years - spent $133.30 for each of his votes, compared to the $13.33 Santorum spent per vote. In New Hampshire, Mitt's most impressive move was trotting out Geritol John McCain to endorse him, and to tell the rest of the Republican field to step aside and let the coronation of Willard Mitt Romney proceed. It's hard to say which was goofier, McCain's crotchety performance or Romney's conviction that he'd be helped by the endorsement of a man who called him a liar in 2008, and went on to lose to the most unqualified presidential candidate in history. Democrat websites had a blast digging up McCain quotes from four years ago: "Mitt Romney's flip-flops are Masterpieces." The Massachusetts governor is "very consistent - totally consistent - because he's had two positions at least on every issue." They're also having fun with a new video comparing Romney to the Ken doll: "Both have no known set political views. Both are able to move left and right with equal ease. Both aren't known for their conversational skill." Mitt continues to wow 'em in the Granite state and nationwide. On January 5, The Boston Herald reported: "During a lackluster performance in front of an uninspired crowd at Manchester Central High School yesterday, Romney was overshadowed by Sen. John McCain." Overshadowed by John McCain? Cool! In a Wall Street Journal commentary titled "Mr. Good Enough," Kimberley Strassel observes: "Voters aren't convinced by Mitt Romney. They're not certain of his convictions; they wonder if he is the leader for these times; they're not sold on his policies or personality.... Mr. Romney is hardly an easy fit with the GOP base - from his past flip-flops on issues like abortion, to his weak tax proposals, to his concoction and defense of RomneyCare, the Massachusetts health plan that was a model for ObamaCare." Strassel continued, "The threat of President Obama and his determination to create an entitlement state, combined with the dismal economy, have voters eager for a bold conservative leader." That would be a leader who's not "lackluster," "uninspired" and "overshadowed" by a loser like John McCain. Since 2008, Romney's strategy has changed - unlike his haircut. In '08, Romney decided that his ticket to the nomination was to pander furiously to conservatives. That didn't work, in part because his rhetoric was massively refuted by his record, which he could run but couldn't hide from. Romney's miraculous conversion on abortion was matched by equally implausible 180-degree turns on marriage, the homosexual agenda, taxes, amnesty, global warming, the rights of gun owners and judicial nominations. Having failed as a conservative four years ago - and with a hungry pack of authentic conservatives nipping at his heels - Romney decided to change course. Gone are the grand gestures of the last campaign - the red meat tossed to red staters. Instead, Mitt has decided to campaign on something called "electability." He ran Bain Capital. He saved the 2002 Winter Olympics. He was elected to one term as the governor of an Eastern, liberal state, and proceeded to rack up an undistinguished record - except for socialized medicine and helping to make Massachusetts the first state with gay marriage. The New Mitt Romney - or is that the New, New Mitt Romney - has managed to regularly aggravate, annoy and otherwise provoke conservatives:
* In a field of eight, he was one of only three Republicans running for the nomination who refused to sign the pro-life pledge of the Susan B. Anthony List, his mythical conversion notwithstanding. (What would you expect from the guy who put $50-co-pays for abortion in his health-care plan?) At its heart, the pledge asked a candidate to commit to nominating pro-life judges and members of his cabinet. A campaign spokesman squeaked that "this well-intentioned effort has some potentially unforeseen consequences" - like putting the signer on record promising to appoint pro-life judges and members of his administration? As governor of Massachusetts, most of Mitt's judicial appointments were Democrats and independents - not exactly Antonin Scalia-types, one suspects. * Willard Mitt did an about-face on gays in the military. In a December interview with the Des Moines Register, Romney (candor is his middle name) said he now has no problem with those whose lifestyles are dangerous, diseased and disgusting serving openly in the armed forces. He explained that his earlier opposition to the measure was because he didn't like making the change "in a time of war." But now that the fighting is winding down in Iraq and Afghanistan, this was no longer a concern. I'm surprised he didn't trot out his legendary Harvard stem-cell researcher to explain this conversion - or maybe George S. Patton came to him in a dream, slapped his face, and told him to get with the mainstream media's gay agenda. * Interviewed on The O'Reilly Factor, also in December - and following the establishment Republican don't-say-mean-things-about-our-first-black-president guidelines - Romney couldn't bring himself to call Mr. Class Warfare a socialist. After constant prodding by the host, the ex-governor finally screwed up his courage to admit: "I prefer to use the term that he's just over his head. (Give 'em hell Mitty) I consider him a big government liberal Democrat." Listen, Obama's wife, daughters and dog think he's a socialist, and are damned proud of it. So, what do you call someone who's increased the national debt by 40% in less than three years, socialized whole industries, moved to nationalize health care, and declared war on wealth? Not a socialist, if you're Mitt Romney. * After his landslide victory in Iowa, Mitt issued a call to arms: "President Obama is a nice guy. He just doesn't understand how to run the economy." It could go down in the annals of memorable campaign slogans. Along with: "54-40 or fight," "Blaine, Blaine, James G. Blaine, The Continental Liar from the State of Maine," "Patriotism, Protection and Prosperity," "In your heart you know he's right," and "It's morning in America," - we now have "Nice guy/just doesn't understand how to run the economy." * When it comes to the economy and stimulus spending, Obama isn't the only one who's clueless. Romney supported TARP, the $700-billion if-it-moves-bail-it-out program. In 2010, the businessman who would be president told FOX's Neil Cavuto that if President Bush hadn't pushed Big Bailout, "We were going to be in free fall that would cause the collapse of not just Wall Street, but banks all over the country, killing not only a few jobs, but all the jobs in the country." Perfectly logical, if you're Obama (who voted for the monstrosity) or Willard Mitt.

Romney has ignored establishment Republican wisdom regarding when to betray conservatives in presidential campaigns: Kiss them before the nominating convention and screw them afterward. Otherwise, he's following the playbook. When Bush 41 ran for reelection in 1992, after the nominating convention, campaign spokesmen sneered about conservatives: "They don't have any place else to go." In November, many went nowhere - including to the polls. This year, Team Romney is counting on our fear and loathing of Obama to get us behind Mitt. To an extent, they may be right. But it will be support reminiscent of Manchester Union Leader publisher William Loeb's advice to the right in 1972, when he told conservatives to "Hold your nose and vote for Nixon." That worked 40 years ago, when Nixon was the incumbent and half of his own party loathed McGovern. This year, Obama has the home court advantage. He'll unleash a horde of union goons, public employees, Occupy Wall Street storm troopers, his own crony capitalists, tree-huggers, foaming-at-the-mouth feminists, and the class-envy crowd. And he'll be campaigning from the Treasury, thanks to compliant Republicans in Congress. To win, the Republican candidate will have to light a wildfire at the grassroots. He'll have to inspire a patriot army to make any sacrifice and endure any hardship to make him president. He'll have to mobilize doorbell-ringers, callers and sign-wavers - not to mention donors large and small. It's hard to be mobilized when you're holding your nose and hopping from foot to foot to avoid being burned by your candidate's record. I can see it now, we'll all go into battle behind banners proclaiming: "Mitt didn't mean anything he said when he ran against Ted Kennedy," "RomneyCare really isn't ObamaCare - honest, you gotta believe me," "Obama's a nice guy who just doesn't understand how to run the economy," "Obama: he's just over his head," and "Mitt Romney - he's good enough!" I believe I've hit on Romney's secret strategy - He's going to spend the next 10 months putting the country to sleep, while his campaign secretly distributes NoDoz to loyal supporters. Call it Mitt's Morpheus Maneuver.

FACT CHECK: :
Judge David O. Carter, Oct. 29, 2009: There may very well be a legitimate role for the judiciary to interpret whether the natural born citizen requirement has been satisfied in the case of a presidential candidate who has not already won the election and taken office. However, on the day that President Obama took the presidential oath and was sworn in, he became President of the United States. Any removal of him from the presidency must be accomplished through the Constitution's mechanisms for the removal of a President, either through impeachment or the succession process set forth in the Twenty-Fifth Amendment.
Patriots- THIS IS BIG!
ORDER ON OBAMA'S MOTION TO DISMISS DENIED
)
- Georgia State Judge Micheal Mahili has refused the motion to dismiss a lawsuit that would require Barack Obama to prove he is eligible to run for the Office of President of the United State.
Description: President Obama's lawyers filed a motion that would keep him from presenting proof of his eligibility to be President of the United States. THAT MOTION HAS BEEN DENIED! PART OF THE RULING STATEMENT: The Georgia Election Code (the "Code") mandates that "[e]very candidate for federal and state office who is certified by the state executive committee of a political party or who files a notice of candidacy shall meet the constitutional and statutory qualifications for holding the office being sought." O.C.G.A. § 21-2-5(a). Both the Secretary of State and the electors of Georgia are granted the authority under the Code to challenge the qualifications of a candidate. The challenge procedures are defined in Code Section 21-2-5(b), which authorizes any elector who is eligible to vote for a candidate to challenge the qualifications of the candidate by filing a written complaint with the Secretary of State within two weeks after the deadline for qualifying. O.C.G.A. § 21-2-5(b). Code Section 21-2-5(a) states that "every candidate for federal and state office" must meet the qualifications for holding that particular office, and this Court has seen no case law limiting this provision, nor found any language that contains an exception for the office of president or stating that the provision does not apply to the presidential preference primary. Accordingly, this Court finds that Defendant is a candidate for federal office who has been certified by the state executive committee of a political party, and therefore must, under Code Section 21-2-5, meet the constitutional and statutory qualifications for holding the office being sought. Why is this big? For the very first time in this long and arduous process of state and local court cases where the citizens of this country have demanded that Obama prove he is eligible to be President, under our Constitution, a judge has sided with the law and ruled accordingly. It is very possible that Hawaii may now have to show, if they have it, the long form birth certificate that Obama has claimed he photocopied the one he released in April of 2011. The Social Security Administration may now have to release records on how and why Obama is using a Connecticut SSN. It is possible that Obama may have to submit to questions while under oath. Finally, this is big because it is the first brick to be pried from the wall of judicial malfeasance and media cover-up which has never before been seen in this country. If Obama refuses to submit to deposition and / or allow inspection of his documents, the ruling of this court will not only preclude Obama's name form being on the Primary ballot in Georgia, but it would keep his party from having his name on the ballot in November. Thank God for Judge Mahili in Georgia. Now! Does this country have any other judicial or political patriots. America is waiting to see. Attorney Orly Taitz has been relentless in her efforts to keep America from falling into the abyss of lawlessness like the country of her birth, the old Soviet Union. She has been fined, ridiculed, maligned and threatened. She has devoted her time, her money and her expertise. She is a true American hero. God Bless Orly Taitz!

Update with Video: Presidential Candidate: Meeting with Sheriff Joe Arpaio Yielded "Devastating" Information
LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST THE DNC AND WITH VARIOUS STATE COURTS ON OBAMA ELIGIBLIITY
by Sharon Rondeau
Presidential Candidate John Dummett and Van Irion, founder of Liberty Legal Foundation, met with Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his staff on December 5, 2011, during which the eligibility of Barack Obama was discussed. From left to right are Dummett's wife Karmi; John Dummett, Presidential Candidate (R); Sheriff Joe Arpaio; Dummett Campaign Manager William Odom; and Van Irion, Founder and Attorney for Liberty Legal Foundation
(Dec. 9, 2011) - On December 5, 2011, Presidential Candidate John Dummett of California recently traveled 789 miles to Maricopa County, AZ and back to meet with Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has been conducting an investigation into questions surrounding the presidential eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama.
Dummett and Van Irion, founder of Liberty Legal Foundation, have partnered in filing a lawsuit against the Democrat National Committee to stay the nomination of Obama as its candidate for the presidential election.
"Our meeting with Sheriff Arpaio was scheduled for 1:30 in the afternoon, and the Tea Party meeting was at 6:30 that evening. We got to Joe Arpaio's office, and his secretary met us at the door. She said, 'Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry to tell you, but the sheriff can give you only 20 minutes of his time.' We were more than happy with that. Well, we got to his office, and he had the lead investigator of his 300-man posse there. It's called the Cold Case Posse. Several other investigators assigned to the case were there as well. Arpaio was intrigued by Van Irion's and my approach of going after the DNC and not attacking Barack Obama or asking any court to decide Obama's eligibility. The idea blew them away. It went over so well that he got several other members in there. He took copies of everything, including the complaint , and we discussed all of the issues. He told us things that I still have to hold in confidentiality. I can say, because it has already been released to the press and I can verify it, that he will produce a report in February, and it will be devastating. I can't say what it is, but I know what it is."

Since the media won't ask these questions about Barack Obama we who want to save America must
Jan 16, 2012 05:13 am | Coach Collins

American Minute January 15 Jan 15, 2012 05:13 pm | Coach Collins By Bill Federer, staff writer Martin Luther King, Jr. was born JANUARY 15, 1929. A minister like his father and grandfather, he pastored Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery and Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. He formed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. On April 16, 1963, King wrote: "As the Apostle Paul carried the gospel of Jesus Christ...so am I compelled to carry the gospel...I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers...I stand in the middle of two opposing forces...One is a force of complacency...The other force is one of bitterness and hatred, and it comes perilously close to advocating violence. The conservative who ran as a liberal, lost, and is leaving
"On Sunday night Jon Huntsman told his advisers that he is ending his presidential campaign and will endorse Mitt Romney. ... Huntsman had criticized Romney repeatedly during the campaign, and with a note of bitterness if I am not mistaken; he made the accurate point that Romney's tax plan is much more timid than his own. Huntsman finished third in New Hampshire, but most of his votes came from self-identified Independents and Democrats, which are expected to be a smaller proportion of the primary electorate in South Carolina and most later contests. In my January 8 Examiner column I identified what I thought was the central weakness of Huntsman's campaign: his tone was that of a moderate or even liberal Republican, critical of the party and its followers, while his policy proposals, at least on domestic issues, were solidly conservative. 'The tension between the anti-conservative aura he gives off and his genuinely conservative positions seems to have left Huntsman between two stools and struggling to achieve the solid third place finish in New Hampshire that might plausibly give him a ticket to other states.' Well, he got his third place finish in New Hampshire, but it wasn't enough, give[n] his non-conservative aura, to make him a contender in South Carolina and beyond." --political analyst Michael Barone
Should Huntsman have dropped out of the GOP race?
For the Record
"There are two stories coming out of New Hampshire. The big story is Mitt Romney. The bigger one is Ron Paul. ... He got 21 percent in Iowa, 23 in New Hampshire, the only candidate other than Romney to do well with two very different electorates, one more evangelical and socially conservative, the other more moderate and fiscally conservative. Paul commands a strong, energetic, highly committed following. And he is unlike any of the other candidates. They're out to win. He admits he doesn't see himself in the Oval Office. They're one-time self-contained enterprises aiming for the White House. Paul is out there to build a movement that will long outlive this campaign. Paul is less a candidate than a 'cause,' to cite his election-night New Hampshire speech. Which is why that speech was the only one by a losing candidate that was sincerely, almost giddily joyous. The other candidates had to pretend they were happy with their results. Paul was genuinely delighted with his, because, after a quarter-century in the wilderness, he's within reach of putting his cherished cause on the map. Libertarianism will have gone from the fringes -- those hopeless, pathetic third-party runs -- to a position of prominence in a major party." --columnist Charles Krauthammer
Opinion in Brief
"Corporations seem to be the new villains for everyone to hate. And no candidate in recent memory quite invokes the corporate image as much as Mitt Romney. ... [I]t turns out that he made his own fortune heading up a private equity firm that specialized in corporate takeovers. Bain Capital's model was to identify underperforming companies; tighten or replace management; and make them profitable as quickly as possible -- which often meant cutting jobs, at least initially. And since Romney and Bain are so closely identified, the implication is that Romney got rich by destroying jobs. ... [S]ome people seem to think it's immoral for Bain -- and Romney -- to make money if any jobs were lost. But is it really fair to blame Bain Capital or Mitt Romney? Not every takeover will be successful, and even the successful ones entail pain in the beginning." --columnist Linda Chavez
Insight
"The whole gospel of Karl Marx can be summed up in a single sentence: Hate the man who is better off than you are. Never under any circumstances admit that his success may be due to his own efforts, to the productive contribution he has made to the whole community. Always attribute his success to the exploitation, the cheating, the more or less open robbery of others. Never under any circumstances admit that your own failure may be owing to your own weakness, or that the failure of anyone else may be due to his own defects -- his laziness, incompetence, improvidence, or stupidity." --American economist Henry Hazlitt (1894-1993)
Faith & Family
"Doesn't anybody get the connection between the social issues and economics issues? One candidate who does, Rick Santorum had the courage to link the two in a recent Iowa town hall meeting. (And before I go on, please, folks, I'm not endorsing him or anyone. I never do.) Here's what Senator Santorum said: 'Yes, [the election is] about growth and the economy, [but] it's also about what is at the core of our country ... faith and family. You can't have a strong economy, you can't have limited government if the family is breaking down and we don't live good, moral, and decent lives.' Precisely right. ... If the nation's current economic crisis has taught us anything, it's that a healthy economy cannot thrive in the midst of moral breakdown. Ethical failures on Wall Street, Main Street, and Capitol Hill put us into this mess we're in today, as I've said many times before. ... Do you think that crime rates, incarceration, low educational achievement, out of wedlock births, affect the economy and government spending? Of course they do, and the statistics prove this! If you want a healthy, thriving economy you've got to have a strong moral societal foundation." --author Chuck Colson

"It is regrettable that your ideal candidate be 'a man of strong faith.' Aside from the fact that the candidate need not be a male, strong faith in supernatural spirits, ghouls, gods, demons, and the like should be a red flag warning against a lack-of-touch with reality, and is particularly repugnant if said candidate believes he should use his office to impose his irrational beliefs on the rest of the nation." --Marc
Editor's Reply: Yes, that whole "endowed by our Creator" thing is a problem ... for those who serve no higher universal order than the one they see in the mirror every morning. Regarding the use of "he," that is only because the remaining candidates from whom the attributes were selected, are male.

Today the once-noble Democrat Party has turned the wisdom of MLK, one of their most revered iconic figureheads, on its head. Perhaps King's most remembered words are these: "I have a dream that my children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." However, Democrat Leftists now interpret this as, "I have a dream that my children will one day be judged by the color of their skin, not the content of their character."

"France joined the United States in the club of former triple-A credit risks [Friday], when Standard & Poor's stripped the country of its top rating. Spain, Italy and six other euro-zone countries were also handed downgrades at the same time. Like the U.S. downgrade last summer, the rating changes themselves don't tell the world or the markets anything they didn't already know. S&P, as so often with ratings agencies, is following the market rather than moving it, and France's looming downgrade was perhaps the worst-kept secret in finance. The biggest impact may be political, especially for the re-election chances of French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Perhaps he can call President Obama for advice on how to blame his legislature. These pages have long argued for reducing the importance of the credit-ratings agencies, especially where their ratings are given an explicit role in law and regulation. But S&P's sweeping downgrade does reflect the truth that Europe's actions in trying to save the euro haven't stemmed contagion. They've spread it. The EU has reacted to the debt crisis by having the stronger countries in the euro zone guarantee loans to the weaker ones. ... The downgrade might do some good if it motivates Europe's leaders to rethink this strategy, but we wouldn't bet the MF Global portfolio on it." --The Wall Street Journal
Did S&P's European credit downgrades come too late?

"The news that Eastman Kodak is preparing to file for bankruptcy, after being the leading photographic company in the world for more than a hundred years, truly marks the end of an era. ... Post offices were once even more important than Eastman Kodak, and for a longer time, as the mail provided vital communications linking people and organizations across thousands of miles. But, today, technology has moved even further beyond the post office than it has beyond Eastman Kodak. The difference is that, although the Postal Service is technically a private business, its income doesn't cover all its costs -- and taxpayers are on the hook for the difference. Moreover, the government makes it illegal for anyone else to put anything into your mail box, even though you bought the mail box and it is your property. That means you don't have the option to have some other private company deliver your mail. ... A society in which some people make decisions, and other people are forced to pay the costs created by those decisions, is a society where a lot of decisions can be made despite their costs being greater than their benefits. ... We cannot preserve everything that was once useful." --economist Thomas Sowell
Re: The Left"It takes a person of great character and self-control to continually imbibe and mouth the mantras of the left -- that everyone on the right is sexist, intolerant, xenophobic, homophobic, islamophobic, racist and bigoted -- and not become a meaner human being. If I believed just about everyone with left-wing views was despicable, I would be meaner, too. In a previous column, I wrote about Thomas Friedman making one of the classic anti-Semitic libels when he wrote that the reason the Senate and the House gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu standing ovations was because 'that ovation was bought and paid for by the Israel lobby.' How does a Jew write an anti-Semitic libel? Because he's on the left. That was the reason Rep. Andre Carson said that members of Congress who support the Tea Party want to see blacks 'hanging on a tree.' Because he's on the left. Leftists' meanness toward those with whom they differ has no echo on the normative right. Those on the left need to do some soul-searching. Because as long as they continue to believe that people on the right are not merely wrong but vile, they will get increasingly mean. The problem for the left, however, is that the moment it stops painting the right as vile, it has to argue the issues." --radio talk-show host Dennis Prager The Gipper"You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man's age-old dream -- the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order -- or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path." --Ronald Reagan The Last Word"While the political elite are focused on the Republican primary fight, the rest of America is focused on looking for (or keeping) a job; hoping the kids are actually learning something at school; despairing over, while staring at, their evaporating retirement accounts; and wondering ... if anyone is actually watching the store. ... Like it or not, Barack Obama is President of the United States. ... In dealing with the Congress he went from completely ignoring the Republican Minority when Democrats controlled both Chambers, to completely ignoring the entire Branch by ruling via Executive Order and redefining the Constitution after the 2010 mid-term elections in which his policies and leadership style cost Democrats control of the U.S. House and broke the back of the near filibuster-proof Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate. In Obama's America, your opponents are too disobedient and negotiations with them are too tiresome. ... Rather than reduce the 'recriminations' he talked about, he has created more government agencies to watch over fewer growing businesses to institutionalize recriminations against economic growth. In Obama's America, economic success is no longer something to be proud of, [it] is something to be embarrassed about, investigated for, and taxed on." --political analyst Rich Galen

Who Is Anti-Science?
Posted: 16 Jan 2012 09:37 AM PST
(John Hinderaker)
In the Science and Environmental Policy Project's The Week That Was, Ken Haapala writes:
As the global climate refuses to obey the global climate models, advocates of the position that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the principal cause of late 20th century warming are attacking skeptics as anti-science. In effect, they are writing that the skeptics are nihilists - denying that scientific knowledge is possible. These alarmists are misrepresenting the position of most skeptics, namely that climate science as articulated by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) fails to meet the standards of rigor required by modern science. ...
The IPCC has failed to establish a strong link between changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and changes in temperatures; contrary to the claims of Al Gore, Antarctic ice cores reveal that B (changes in temperatures) comes before A (changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations.)
The first two assessment reports of the IPCC contained the temperature variation of the past 1000 years derived from the best available data. These included the Medieval Warm Period and a Little Ice Age. The Third Assessment Report (AR3) replaced the historic data with the infamous "hockey-stick," without explanation. The Forth Assessment Report (AR4) dropped the "hockey-stick" without explanation and limited the scope to the past 50 years. This is terribly misleading and clearly indicates the models on which AR4 relies cannot explain historic temperature variation. An examination of the best available data on temperature variation for the past 20,000 years (from Greenland ice cores backed up by other data) shows wild variation unrelated to atmospheric carbon dioxide, which the IPCC ignores.
As pointed out by Nir Shaviv and others, actual temperatures are significantly diverging from model projections. Warming alarmists are trying to explain away this divergence with irrelevant claims, such as 2011 was the ninth warmest year on (the instrument) record. But as reader Don Rapp points out, it was also the ninth coldest year in the last 13. What the IPCC does in its next assessment report is difficult to guess, but one can expect a clever effort to avoid rigorous science in establishing the relationship between atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and temperature changes.
However, in the interim, those accusing the skeptics of being anti-science are actually finding fault with skeptics because the skeptics are applying the principles of science far more rigorously than the IPCC applies them. Given the divergence between model projections and actual temperatures, any studies based on IPCC model projections are pure speculation.

Hypocrisy, Thy Name Is Kennedy
Posted: 16 Jan 2012 07:15 AM PST
(Steven Hayward)
Yeah, I know, that headline ain't exactly man-bites-dog. Peter Schweizer's previous book, Do As I Say: Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy, explained in detail how the Kennedy family escaped the estate tax that it wants everyone else to pay, and collects handsomely on oil leases it owns, even as Kennedys oppose oil exploration generally. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is notorious for leading the opposition to the Cape Wind project off Cape Cod in Massachusetts because it would supposedly spoil the view from the Kennedy Asylum, when he's not flying in private jets to warmer winter climes.
By why should he have all the fun? Now it's his sister's turn. The New York Post's Annie Karni breaks a big story today that the mainstream news outlets will surely ignore that Kerry Kennedy, RFK Jr.s' little sister and the ex-wife of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, has accepted fees and a piece of the action from trial lawyers trying to pick the pocket of Chevron in the infamous Ecuador case where an Ecuadoran court issued a judgment of $18 billion against Chevron:
Professional do-gooder Kerry Kennedy - Gov. Cuomo's ex-wife and the daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy - has called the oil-drilled rain forests of Ecuador "the biggest corporate environmental disaster on the face of the Earth, in the history of the world."
The human-rights activist penned opinion pieces and lobbied officials to voice her outrage at the damage oil companies have caused to the town of Lago Agrio, where 1,700 square miles of rain forest have been destroyed and people sickened.
What Kennedy has never mentioned during her campaign is that she is being paid handsomely for her seemingly selfless advocacy.
Kennedy, 52, was secretly hired as a "public-relations consultant" by the lawyer representing the Ecuadoreans in an $18 billion lawsuit against Chevron, according to court documents.
Cashing in on her respected family name and legacy, Kennedy raked in tens of thousands of dollars and was given a 0.25 percent stake - worth as much as $40 million - if the $18 billion judgment handed down by an Ecuadorean judge is ultimately upheld. (Chevron has not yet paid pending its countersuit in Manhattan federal court.)
Kennedy was paid a flat $50,000 by lead attorney Steven Donziger on Feb. 22, 2010, bank statements made public in the case show.
She was set to pull down an additional $10,000 per month, according to a September 2010 draft budget by the law firm. And she was to get another $40,000 in expenses in June 2010, according to an invoice from Donziger.
But being a hired shill didn't stop Kennedy from presenting herself as a crusader with only a personal interest and familial duty to Ecuador's indigenous masses.
There's more (including excerpts from the plaintiff lawyer's emails pertaining to Kennedy), but this is enough. (And yes, I know there appears to be an obvious error in the reporter's story-the phrase about "her respected family name and legacy. . ." I suspect Karni is being playfully ironic here.)

Pardon me
Posted: 16 Jan 2012 06:03 AM PST
(Scott Johnson)
Yesterday's New York Times Magazine featured a cover story by Tom Robbins (not that Tom Robbins) on one of the fanatic leftists who participated in the infamous Brink's robbery in New York. As George Russell recounts in "The other Rosenberg case," the October 1981 robbery, which ended in a careening series of car chases and a bloody shootout, left two policemen and an unarmed Brink's employee dead and others injured.
Bill Clinton pardoned Susan Rosenberg (we should never forget what a cretin Clinton is) and Kathy Boudin has been paroled. How about a little love for Judith Clark, the subject of the Times Magazine cover story? My vote is to send Rosenberg and Boudin back to the can. Short of that, I yield the floor to to David Horowitz:
The New York Times, which played a key role in getting convicted and unrepentant murderer Kathy Boudin a parole, has now published a similar massive plea posing as a news story for her accomplice, Judy Clark. The piece is maliciously titled "The Radical Transformation of Judy Clark" as though Clark, understanding the heinous nature of her crime which left 9 children fatherless, is prepared to renounce the life that led to it. Nothing could be further from the truth. Of course Clark is in her sixties now and regrets her separation from the infant she abandoned to commit the crime (her last crime not her only crime). Her daughter is now 31 and she would obviously like to be able to share the kind of life with her that her victims cannot share with their dead fathers. And, of course, being old and gray, she no longer thinks Amerikkka is on the brink of a violent revolution and liberation. Unlike Boudin, moreover, she does seem to have given some thought to the enormity of what she did to those nine fatherless children. But that said, there is no indication that her parole plea is anything but self-serving, or that she has turned her back on the progressive terrorists - Boudin, Bill Ayers and Berna[r]dine Dohrn among them - who were her comrades-in-arms through the twelve years of armed warfare she conducted against her country and its citizens, which left more than a handful of people dead.
To begin with, Clark and her mouthpiece at the Times, present the culprit as an absent-minded accomplice to the one crime for which she was convicted, the Brink's robbery in Nyack NY in 1981. According to Clark, her participation was an "obligation" - the fulfillment of a promise she had made to participate as a getaway driver in a robbery she thought would never take place. This is baloney. Clark was part of a group that called itself "The Family," which was a working alliance between the Black Liberation Army and the May 19th Communist Movement (so-named in part to commemorate the day the BLA murdered a black and white police team in New York for no reason other than that they were a black and white officer working together).
The May 19 gang was mainly women (among them Boudin, Clark and Susan Rosenberg) who served as the getaway team for the BLA in a string of bank robberies in which people were killed. One attempted assassination of a New York judge was unsuccessful. All these crimes were committed in the name of the revolution, which in the perverse eyes of progressives like Judy Clark, justified them. The Family had also sprung a cold-blooded killer - Assata Shakur - from federal prison. Clark's role in the May 19th organization was not the beginning of her criminal career but its fulfillment. Previously she had spent 7 years as one of the most fanatical members of the Weather Underground, helping to conduct many bombings and kill at least three people, and probably also two police officers whose deaths are still under investigation.
A guilty person who understands their guilt and has genuine remorse begins by accepting responsibility for what they did and for all they did - and not pretending (as Clark does in this article) that they became a violent radical only after they were arrested as a result of guilt for not having been revolutionary enough. Or that their participation in the one crime they were apprehended for was actually the result of inattention or some other excusable offense.
Far more important, a truly remorseful terrorist will feel obligated to turn his back on his fellow terrorists and their supporters and do the innocent a service by revealing what they know, and who their networks are, and what they actually did - not just what they got caught doing. This kind of truth-telling is an authentic form of atonement and would protect others - and particularly young radicals just starting out who may become involved in criminal ventures just as Clark did when she was young and the tragedies she caused were still in front of her.
Robbins styles himself an investigative journalist, but he sets strict limits on the extent of his curiosity. There is of course a political point to his credulity. The extent to which the left (the Times, the mainstream media, the universities) looks after its own is truly amazing.
UPDATE: Ron Kuby comments below: "[Y]our statement 'Susan Rosenberg) who served as the getaway team for the BLA in a string of bank robberies in which people were killed' is false and defamatory. Rosenberg was never convicted of being part of any getaway team, any bank robbery, or any murder. In the interests of factual accuracy, please remove that reference."
Ah, Ron, I know you're not a close reader, but it's hard to miss that it wasn't my statement. I was quoting David Horowitz. Since you raise the issue, however, I'll quote Jay Nordlinger from his excellent NR article "Clinton's Rosenberg case." Referring to the Brink's robbery, Jay writes: "Rosenberg's role in the crime was that of getaway driver and general accomplice." And George Russell seems to be referring to the likes of you when he writes in the article I cite above:
Rosenberg was a hardened member of an active terrorist organization whose members had robbed banks and armored cars; killed police and unarmed security guards; broken prisoners out of U.S. jail; helped to smuggle felons to Cuba; continued a campaign of bombing after various group members jumped bail; and they were storing large quantities of explosives and weaponry to further continue that campaign when she was apprehended. It took two more years to roll up most of the other members of the disparate and dangerous group.
Because federal prosecutors in New York's Southern District under then U.S. Attorney Rudy Giuliani decided that they would not pursue charges for her alleged part in the Brink's armored car robbery, Rosenberg and her lawyers have ceaselessly argued for more than two decades that the lack of a conviction is tantamount to proof of her innocence. But Justice Department officials, led by future U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White, a Democrat, insisted that they had evidence Rosenberg was also involved in the 1981 robbery bloodbath. They testified to that effect every time Rosenberg had a parole hearing.
This lengthy recitation is a necessary precondition for putting in context who Susan Rosenberg really is...

The prophetic voice
Posted: 16 Jan 2012 04:33 AM PST
(Scott Johnson)
When Martin Luther King, Jr., brought his nonviolent campaign against segregation to Bull Connor's Birmingham, he laid siege to the bastion of Jim Crow. In Birmingham between 1957 and 1962, black homes and churches had been subjected to a series of horrific bombings intended to terrorize the community. In April 1963 King answered the call to bring his campaign to Birmingham. When King landed in jail on Good Friday for violating an injunction prohibiting demonstrations, he took the opportunity to meditate on the counsel of prudence with which Birmingham's white ministers had greeted his campaign.
King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail" was the result. Reading the "Letter" nearly fifty years later is a humbling experience. Perhaps most striking is King's seething anger over the indignities of segregation:
I guess it is easy for those who have never felt the stinging darts of segregation to say, "Wait." But when you have seen vicious mobs lynch your mothers and fathers at will and drown your sisters and brothers at whim; when you have seen hate filled policemen curse, kick, brutalize and even kill your black brothers and sisters with impunity; when you see the vast majority of your twenty million Negro brothers smothering in an airtight cage of poverty in the midst of an affluent society; when you suddenly find your tongue twisted and your speech stammering as you seek to explain to your six-year-old daughter why she can't go to the public amusement park that has just been advertised on television, and see tears welling up in her eyes when she is told that Funtown is closed to colored children, and see the depressing clouds of inferiority begin to form in her little mental sky, and see her begin to distort her little personality by unconsciously developing a bitterness toward white people; when you have to concoct an answer for a five-year-old son asking in agonizing pathos: "Daddy, why do white people treat colored people so mean?"; when you take a cross-country drive and find it necessary to sleep night after night in the uncomfortable corners of your automobile because no motel will accept you; when you are humiliated day in and day out by nagging signs reading "white" and "colored"; when your first name becomes "nigger," your middle name becomes "boy" (however old you are) and your last name becomes "John," and your wife and mother are never given the respected title "Mrs."; when you are harried by day and haunted by night by the fact that you are a Negro, living constantly at tip-toe stance never quite knowing what to expect next, and plagued with inner fears and outer resentments; when you are forever fighting a degenerating sense of "nobodiness"; then you will understand why we find it difficult to wait. There comes a time when the cup of endurance runs over, and men are no longer willing to be plunged into an abyss of despair. I hope, sirs, you can understand our legitimate and unavoidable impatience.
In addition to King's witness, King's prophetic call permeates the "Letter." Why did King presume to come from Atlanta to Birmingham? King writes:
I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Just as the eighth century prophets left their little villages and carried their "thus saith the Lord" far beyond the boundaries of their home towns; and just as the Apostle Paul left his little village of Tarsus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to practically every hamlet and city of the Graeco-Roman world, I too am compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my particular home town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid.
King's prophetic call must have been both a source of strength and of concern. His strength was manifest; he rarely let his concern show. Perfection is not a condition of the prophet's call, and King was both imperfect and aware of his imperfections. His unbending strength is all the more remarkable.
It is difficult to comprehend that King was only 39 years old at the time of his assassination in Memphis on April 4, 1968, or that the prospect of his death weighed so heavily on his mind. He seems too young to have accomplished so much, or to have maintained his judgment under such trying circumstances. The magnitude of his own trials must have had a deep impact on him.
In the speech he gave in Memphis the day before his assassination, he movingly recalled his first confrontation with death:
You know, several years ago, I was in New York City autographing the first book that I had written. And while sitting there autographing books, a demented black woman came up. The only question I heard from her was, "Are you Martin Luther King?"
And I was looking down writing, and I said yes. And the next minute I felt something beating on my chest. Before I knew it I had been stabbed by this demented woman. I was rushed to Harlem Hospital. It was a dark Saturday afternoon. And that blade had gone through, and the X-rays revealed that the tip of the blade was on the edge of my aorta, the main artery. And once that's punctured, you drown in your own blood - that's the end of you.
It came out in the New York Times the next morning, that if I had sneezed, I would have died. Well, about four days later, they allowed me, after the operation, after my chest had been opened, and the blade had been taken out, to move around in the wheel chair in the hospital. They allowed me to read some of the mail that came in, and from all over the states, and the world, kind letters came in. I read a few, but one of them I will never forget. I had received one from the President and the Vice-President. I've forgotten what those telegrams said. I'd received a visit and a letter from the Governor of New York, but I've forgotten what the letter said. But there was another letter that came from a little girl, a young girl who was a student at the White Plains High School. And I looked at that letter, and I'll never forget it. It said simply, "Dear Dr. King: I am a ninth-grade student at the White Plains High School." She said, "While it should not matter, I would like to mention that I am a white girl. I read in the paper of your misfortune, and of your suffering. And I read that if you had sneezed, you would have died. And I'm simply writing you to say that I'm so happy that you didn't sneeze."
Here he paused to look back on what he had achieved with the time he had been granted:
And I want to say tonight, I want to say that I am happy that I didn't sneeze. Because if I had sneezed, I wouldn't have been around here in 1960, when students all over the South started sitting-in at lunch counters. And I knew that as they were sitting in, they were really standing up for the best in the American dream. And taking the whole nation back to those great wells of democracy which were dug deep by the Founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. If I had sneezed, I wouldn't have been around in 1962, when Negroes in Albany, Georgia, decided to straighten their backs up. And whenever men and women straighten their backs up, they are going somewhere, because a man can't ride your back unless it is bent. If I had sneezed, I wouldn't have been here in 1963, when the black people of Birmingham, Alabama, aroused the conscience of this nation, and brought into being the Civil Rights Bill. If I had sneezed, I wouldn't have had a chance later that year, in August, to try to tell America about a dream that I had had. If I had sneezed, I wouldn't have been down in Selma, Alabama, been in Memphis to see the community rally around those brothers and sisters who are suffering. I'm so happy that I didn't sneeze.
Looking beyond his accomplishments, he likened himself to Moses, the prophet par excellence, and testified to the source of the prophet's voice:
Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.

UPDATE 2011: Dr. Art Fougner writes from Forest Hills to note: "Recently, our Medical Society of the County of Queens honored Dr. John W. Cordice with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Cordice was a young surgeon on duty at Harlem Hospital when Dr. King was brought in with his near fatal injury and was one of the team that saved his life. Thought you'd appreciate the circle's being completed." Dr. Fougner is past president of the society.

We Must Be Really, Really Stupid!
Posted: 15 Jan 2012 07:34 PM PST
(John Hinderaker)
As you may have heard by now, Newsweek's forthcoming issue headlines, "Why are Obama's critics so dumb?"
Well, sure. We who are unhappy that unemployment has increased on Obama's watch, that over-regulation has stymied economic growth, that our children now owe a $15 trillion debt that we can't pay-hey, we're just dumb! We obviously aren't smart enough to understand how devastating our economy, unemploying millions of Americans and burdening our children with trillions of dollars in debt is really a great idea.
If that's what you think, you are a liberal and you may take Newsweek seriously. The rest of us remember when the publication sold for $1. Hey, we Power Liners may be stupid, but we actually operate in the black. And, more broadly, the time when liberals could seriously try to peddle the lie that conservatives are stupid is long, long gone.

WHO WOULDN'T ENJOY FIRING THESE PEOPLE?
January 11, 2012
Earlier this week, Mitt Romney got into trouble for saying, "I like being able to fire people who provide services to me." To comprehend why the political class reacted as if Romney had just praised Hitler, you must understand that his critics live in a world in which no one can ever be fired -- a world known as "the government."
(And a tip for you Washington types: Just because a person became rich without working for government doesn't mean he is "Wall Street." A venture capital firm in Boston that tries to rescue businesses headed for bankruptcy, for example, is not "Wall Street.")
Romney's statement about being able to fire people was an arrow directed straight to the heart of Obamacare. (By the way, arrows to the heart are not covered by Obamacare.)
Talking about insurance providers, he said:
"I want individuals to have their own insurance. That means the insurance company will have an incentive to keep you healthy. It also means if you don't like what they do, you can fire them. I like being able to fire people who provide services to me. You know, if someone doesn't give me a good service that I need, I want to say I'm going to go get someone else to provide that service to me." Read more: |

Gov. Scott Walker speaks with Ginni
Dear Patriots -
Wisconsin has been ground zero for many matters of national import, especially in trying serious solutions for serious spending and budget problems. A hero is one who does what needs to be done when it has to be done regardless of the consequences.
I watched Gov. Walker from afar but only recently met him in person. He exceeded my already high expectations. His answers provide hope, guidance for all of us at the national, state or local levels of this increasingly intense political square. Gov. Walker is a new hero of mine. Now he likely faces a recall election this summer.
See what you think by clicking here!
Next week: Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.)
Cheers,
Ginni
P.S. President Obama's asking to raise the debt limit again reminds me of this great video.

Mark Levin: Ron Paul's interpretation of the Constitution not always accurate [VIDEO]
Radio talk show host Mark Levin says he couldn't vote for Texas Rep. Ron Paul in the general election even if the Texas congressman were to somehow win the Republican nomination.
"I would have to write somebody in because Ron Paul's foreign policy is so antithetical to traditional conservative foreign policy - whether it's [Sen. Barry] Goldwater, whether it's [President Ronald] Reagan," Levin said in an extensive interview with The Daily Caller.
"You know, they like to point to [Sen. Robert] Taft in the 1950s. They have two or three conservatives they can point to. I have hundreds of conservatives I can point to ... I find that [foreign policy] position to be the Kucinich-McGovern wing of the Democrat Party - it's even extreme for them."
Levin expanded his attack on Paul beyond foreign policy.

Meanwhile, one candidate is talking about the economy in a way that could be very helpful to Republicans on Election Day. Some of Romney's opponents have been criticizing him for his record as head of Bain capital, a private equity firm that bought and transformed struggling companies...(more)

Romney's pro-life 'conversion' under fire

Iran closer to bomb than world realizes?
WORLDNETDAILY - A report that Iran is about a year away from having the capability to build a nuclear bomb may be too optimistic, contended John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Obama's 'Razist' lobbyist moves up
MICHELLE MALKIN - With public attention focused on the GOP primaries, the White House quietly promoted another self-dealing lobbyist to serve as President Obama's top domestic policy adviser. A way for grassroots to bypass the elite?
ALAN KEYES - The elitist faction mouthpieces of GOP hackdom are already spinning the results of the votes in Iowa and New Hampshire in an effort to stampede voters in the GOP stock pens onto the Inevitability R.R.'s non-stop express train marked for Romney Junction. Forget the fact that Romney's Iowa win hangs by the dubious strand of a handful of contestable votes... (more)

Horrifying: Obama as lame duck
DAVID LIMBAUGH - On this we can agree with President Obama: Everything he stands for is at stake in 2012. Obama told 500 fawning sycophants in Chicago that he is unrepentant about his policy agenda and intends to treat us to more of the same, much more, in a second term. Obama said, "Everything that we fought for is now at stake in this election." Lest there be a mistake, he repeated the message in the smaller settings of private homes... (more)

NEWSMAX - Mitt Romney probably will get to the Republican National Convention without a majority of delegates, former New Hampshire state Sen. Bob Clegg says. Rick Santorum is right
STEPHEN KOKX - Now that Rick Santorum has emerged as a viable alternative to Mitt Romney, he will have to face a media onslaught that very few candidates can handle. But this time, it's not just the liberal media he'll be up against; the libertarian right is making their opposition heard as well. In his "victory" speech in Iowa, Santorum stressed his middle class upbringing and the need for America to return to its moral principles... (more)

Romneycare and Obamacare
RICK SANTORUM - For the past year, Mitt Romney has been trying to distance himself from his record on health care, most notably from his signature health-care-reform law in Massachusetts, commonly referred to as "Romneycare." Although the former Massachusetts governor would prefer to deny it, Romneycare shares many characteristics with Obamacare, the president's unpopular overhaul of the national health-care system, and over the past five years, Romneycare has proven to have many of the same fatal design flaws that Obamacare has... Romney and McCain: The GOP Frenemies' club
MICHELLE MALKIN - Michael Corleone said to "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." But what, pray tell, do we do with our frenemies? This is the awful election-year quandary of movement conservatives. And everything you need to know about our heartache can be summed up in one image: 2008 presidential election loser John McCain and Mitt Romney together on the campaign trail... (more)

Our TV and Radio Ads Swarm South Carolina--All Candidates Improving
NumbersUSA Pushes Issue To Front
Please Help Us Keep The Fire Burning
As my father used to say, "Now we're cooking with gas!"
NumbersUSA is pounding the airwaves in South Carolina this week with ads challenging all the presidential candidates to admit that excessive immigration is keeping Americans unemployed.
Guess what? The candidates are listening! Week by week the presidential candidates are vying with each other to firm up their immigration positions. Because of NumbersUSA and our members nationwide, immigration has become one of the hottest issues in the upcoming South Carolina primary.
Just this weekend, Rick Santorum made the latest move with a series of great statements on the need to eliminate both family chain migration and the absurd visa lottery. As a result, Santorum's NumbersUSA Presidential Candidate Grade skyrocketed to A-minus.
Under NumbersUSA's pressure, Romney has consistently been the strongest against amnesty. Just this month, for example, he promised to veto any DREAM Act that crosses his desk. However, it time for him to up his game and admit that too much immigration overall pushes up unemployment.
Rick Perry? His early dismissal of the fence and his backing for a Texas version of the DREAM Act stopped his candidacy before it had properly started. He's tried to catch up by stressing enforcement. Ron Paul has improved some. Even Gingrich has bumped from D-minus to D since coming out with his amnesty proposal in November. Pressure from our members forced him to back off a bit on amnesty and to play up E-Verify.
This is one of the best chances we've ever had to put our stamp on national policy. We are no longer reacting to the Open Borders agenda. We are driving the agenda. But it takes lots of cash to buy these ads. Our fax machines have to keep humming. Help us take advantage of our momentum. Please donate right now so we can pour more gas on this flame.
Just $10 will be a huge help for us now!
Last summer, our immigration views did not seem to interest the presidential candidates much (or the current president!). But things have changed a lot since then!
Last fall, we started running our nationwide immigration ads during the presidential debates. Regionally, we went into Iowa with a heavy ad buy. Later, we learned we were the biggest buyer of radio ads during that time among issue groups.
And now we're advertising in South Carolina--in a big way. If you live there, you know what I mean! The news media has definitely noticed. Most of the political reporters now check our NumbersUSA Presidential Candidate Gradecard as a matter of course when they are writing about the candidates. Mainstream news organizations like the New York Times quote us frequently. In fact, the pro-Open Borders Huffington Post, which generally opposes us, recently stated the case better than we could ourselves:
"NumbersUSA has become something of a bellwether for Republican presidential candidates, who cite the organization's immigration report card to prove they oppose unauthorized immigration. The organization scores candidates based on opposition to 'amnesty,' desire to 'secure the borders' and plans to 'reduce overall immigration,' among other factors."
I want to make clear that all our ads are strictly non-partisan and non-partial. NumbersUSA does not favor any candidate or endorse any candidate.
Instead, we are trying to push all the candidates, including the current president, to adopt sensible immigration positions, such as:
- Supporting mandatory E-Verify;
- Abolishing automatic birthright citizenship for the children of illegal aliens;
- Ending family chain migration for distant relatives;
- Stopping the visa lottery.
Here's the amazing thing--the candidates are coming around! Thanks to our national ads, and your faxes and turnouts at candidate appearances, most of the candidate are "seeing the light" to various degrees.
I am well aware that times are tough. I see it in my neighborhood. Jobs are scarce and incomes threatened. That's what we've been crusading about! I know that you can only afford to make so many donations to charity a year. You want to be strategic in your giving, I realize. America's immigration is being decided now for years to come. Whoever wins the GOP nomination by summer, and then whoever wins the election this fall, will decide so much.
Please, help us now, today! While the situation is still fluid. While the candidates are still listening. While the political reporters are writing our issue up. Break that piggy bank and give today whatever you can afford--even if its only a few dollars.
There are four ways to give:
1) On-line credit card We take all major cards. If you can, please mark the form as a NumbersUSA Action donation. You'll see how.
2) Give by PayPal.
3) Check -- see the instructions and a form to print out and send with your check. All checks dated in 2011 will be counted as 2011.
4) Call (877) 885-7733 to arrange a wire transfer, stock donation, or to make a credit card donation over the phone. If our office is closed, please leave the time and your phone number and we will call back.
IT'S TIME TO POUR ON THE GAS! Jim Robb Vice President, Operations NumbersUSA

If the Church had fought for true school choice, many schools would be thriving
What does it tell you when private Notre Dame Academy in Villanova has 101 students in its freshman class --- at $20,000 per year --- and Archbishop Prendergast in Drexel Hill, an Archdiocesan high school, has...82? Yes --- eighty two.
That the economy is booming because folks can shell out 20K a pop? That the gap between rich and poor is widening, with more people in the "have" category? Not quite.
It tells us, in no uncertain terms, two things:
1) Over the last several decades, too many leaders in the Catholic Church have strayed from their Godly mission, trying to be all things to all people, destroying the Catholic identity, and, worst of all, covering-up the child sex scandal and protecting pedophile priests (See January 11 column). The result has been, and continues to be, apathy for most, anger for many, and an exodus from the Church for thousands of others. The Church has reaped what it has sown, and nowhere is that more evident that the 30 percent decrease in Catholic school enrollment in Archdiocesan schools.
2) The Catholic Church, for all its money, muscle and might, has been a political paper tiger in fighting for its beliefs, most notably school choice. For the last 15 years, it either didn't do its job to ensure passage of legislation that would provide a voucher to parents (their own tax money) to send their children to the school of their choice, or it backed meaningless and ineffective bills. Either way, if the Church had done its job effectively without cowering at the sight of its own shadow, only a handful of the 49 schools that closed recently and the scores --- that everyone seems to be forgetting --- that have been shuttered over the last decade, would be out of business. In fact, most would be thriving.

Atheist kid offended over prayer
Glenn plays the audio of a young student offended by a prayer displayed at her school because she 'doesn't believe' in the 'Heavenly Father,' and displaying the prayer amounts to an endorsement of Christianity from the school. However, she has no problem enforcing her beliefs (atheism) on others. Perhaps she should just man up and deal? Glenn reacts on radio today.
God wrecked @ Golden Globes
It really shouldn't come as a shock that Hollywood would have a grand old time arrogantly mocking God while lifting themselves up as their own god. Starting with the host, a professed atheist, who wasted little time in breaking out the God jokes and it wasn't long after that before the actors got involved. Glenn has the offending comments and reacts on radio today. WATCH
Why are Tim Tebow's prayers controversial? Check out the latest Stu Blog.
Glenn reacts to Marines who urinated on dead Taliban
While it's really difficult to feel badly for dead Taliban terrorists, what a small group of Marines did to a handful of dead Taliban and videotaped it, is causing quite the controversy. What'd they do to infuriate terrorist sympathizing progressives everywhere? One word: tinklegate. Get the full story plus Glenn's surprising reaction and his interview with David Barton on the subject HERE.

PBS is SOOOO totally fair & balanced
PBS host Bill Moyers had some interesting comments recently which sounded eerily like he was a mouthpiece for George Soros. Even more interesting, Moyers revealed intimate details of Soros' life, explaining the billionaire was losing sleep over what his critics were saying and that he felt 'victimized' over it. A billionaire who collapses countries for a living is playing the victim card? Really? MORE
