Quote:

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."  Sir Winston Churchill

Obama Caught on Live Mic Blasting Netanyahu to French PM: 'You're Fed Up With Him But I Have to Deal With Him Every Day!'

The Blaze | by Tiffany Gabbay | Posted on November 7, 2011 at 9:35pm

Obama Caught on Live Mic Blasting NetanyahuIn a "faux pas" for the ages, President Barack Obama conducted what he assumed was a private conversation about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with French President Nicolas Sarkozy after the G20 summit on Thursday. The only problem, however, was that the microphones the two men were wearing from their earlier press conference, had not in fact been turned off. What ensued was a major public embarrassment after both Obama and the French PM disparaged Netanyahu, saying they cannot "stand" dealing with him.

Obama Caught on Live Mic Blasting NetanyahuAccording to a Monday report in the French website "Arret sur Images," Sarkozy told Obama, "I cannot stand him [Netanyahu]. He is a liar." Rather than exercising diplomacy, however, Obama hopped on the bash-wagon, reportedly telling Sarkozy: "You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him every day!"

Not Evil Just Wrong
National Geographic teaches American children to hate America
Written by Ann McElhinney
Wednesday, 09 March 2011
Parents need to get angry and need to get active.

Here are a few reasons why.

In schools all over the US children are now being forced to watch The Human Footprint in science class. The film produced by the National Geographic tells the story of how humans impact the "natural" world. The subtext, and its not at all subtle, is that the impact (footprint) is bad and the worst offenders are of course Americans.

The film contains the following statement.

By their first birthday, the average American will be responsible for more carbon dioxide emissions than a person in Tanzania generates in a lifetime.

This creates a clear impression that Americans are doing something bad. Children have been weaned on an unproven theory that man-made CO2 emissions from the burning of fossil fuels are warming the planet at an alarming rate which will bring about an apocalypse. The implication from The Human Footprint is that the US more than any other country is responsible for this catastrophe.

A number of troubling facts get in the way of this horrific scenario, many scientists believe heightened CO2 emissions follow a rise in temperature not the other way around and the warming of the past decades is minuscule when looked at over millennia.

Then there is the inconvenient fact that the temperature changes we are seeing have been seen before. They did occur prior to the Industrial Revolution, when they could not be related to any CO2 emissions from SUVs and coal fired power plants.

Despite this The Human Footprint goes on to point out, in all kinds of clever and emotionally charged ways, how awful Americans are for consuming and simply for being here and breeding. It also challenges children to come up with ways to counter all that bad behavior including references to population control and cutting consumption.

Two long-time PA Coalition members in important elections

You may be interested to know that two contributors to the PA Coalition are running for important Allegheny county offices. Allegheny is the 2nd largest county in Pennsylvania and is a bastion of long-time Democrat controlled governance. Both are attempting to bring their common sense fiscal conservatism to the county's severely troubled finances.
Bob Howard is a co-founder of the PA Coalition and Director of Education and Advocacy. He is running for Allegheny County controller and has been endorsed by both major Pittsburgh papers, including the left leaning Post-Gazette.     Ned Pfeifer is a long time member of the PA Coalition and President of the Eagle Forum (PA). He is running for Treasurer for Allegheny County and has been endorsed by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

Both men have a very tough row to how in overcoming a large Democrat majority in the county.  Both have embraced the opportunity to speak forcefully to the community concerning the importance of limited government and fiscal responsibility.

Hello Friends!

Some info for the General Election on Tuesday, November 8th..
Best source for experience, endorsements and background for all Republican Party endorsed candidates:
   State level: www.pagop.org
   Counties:   www.bucksgop.org
                   www.montgomerycountygop.com
Best sites for judicial philosophy and viewpoints: Pennsylvania Family Institute (PFI) voter guide at www.pafamily.org.  This year only 2 retention judges and one potential judge filled out the Questionnaire for Montgomery and none for Bucks.
Another interesting site is www.pabar.org/public/news. This site shows the Pennsylvania Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Commission's ratings for both candidates for recommendation and retention judges. Includes a candidates questionnaire by the PBA.

STATE JUDICIAL SEATS

State Supreme  Court
  J. Michael Eakin(R)  This is a retention seat, running unopposed. A Yes or No vote. He justifies his "poetic justice" opinions by stating that ,"you have an obligation as a judge to be right, but you have no obligation to be dull."  Right now, we have a Republican majority on the Supreme Court by one, so a Yes vote here is important.  www.courts.state.pa.us

State Superior Court
Vic Stabile (R) vs. David Wecht (D) Vic Stabile has 30 yrs of broad legal experience, believes in EQUAL justice under the law  & is commended by his peers for his integrity and work ethic. He is strongly against courts who legislate from the bench instead of applying our Constitution & laws. Former Deputy Att. General.www.stabileforjudge.com.

State Commonwealth Court
Anne Covey (R) vs. Kathryn Bookvar(D) Covey has 25 yrs. experience an attorney and is one of the ones that answered all the PFI questions. Sounds like a true constitutional conservative. Doesn't believe in looking into International law & is endorsed by the NFIB (The voice of small business) www.acovey2011@yahoo.com.

STATE JUDGES ON BALLOT FOR RETENTION

Superior Court
   John T Bender (R) & Mary Jane Bowes (R)

Commonwealth
Mary Hannah Leavitt (R), Renee Cohn Jubelirer (R) & Robert Simpson Jr. (R) Both Leavitt & Simpson answered the PFI questions quite conservatively.

BUCKS COUNTY JUDICIAL SEAT

County Court of Common Pleas    James McMaster (R) crossfiled and is running unopposed. He was appointed in 2010. Robert Mellon (R) is on the ballot for retention.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY JUDICIAL SEATS

Court of Common Pleas   Dan Clifford (R) & Maureen Coggins (R) vs. Richard Haaz(D) & Cheryl Austin(D)  Clifford comes "highly recommended" by the Montgomery Bar Assoc. and is considered quite bi-partisan. www.danielclifford.com. Coggins has extensive criminal trial experience and high regard for the Constitution, equal justice and access to the court system.   Retention judges are Arthur Tilson & Thomas Branca.

BUCKS COUNTY COMMISSIONER

Charlie Martin (R) and Rob Loughery (R) vs.Diane Ellis Marseglia(D) & Det Ansinn(D). THREE seats are open, but you only vote for TWO.

Martin - 15 years incumbent, 5 years of no tax increase, obtained AAA bond rating, open space proponent, not opposed to mandatory union membership for county workers,

Loughery - appointed to fill Cawley's commissioner seat in January, conservative, businessowner of economic redevelopment company (turns vacant land into business sites producing 300+ jobs)

Marseglia - 4 year incumbent, social worker, record of raising taxes as Middletown Twp. supervisor, liberal Democrat

Ansinn - Doylestown Borough Council president with record of raising taxes and fees, liberal Democrat, said opposing Obamacare was "akin to treason"

BUCKS COUNTY ROW OFFICES

Clerk of Courts: Mary K. Smithson (R), 15 year incumbent (very competent, innovative - first check scanning system in PA, started internship program) vs. Mary Whitesell (D)

CoronerJoseph Cambell (R), 12 year incumbent (recently opened CSI - Bucks County) vs. Umar Farooq (D)

Register of Wills Donald Petrille (R) - conservative, lawyer and business owner, campaigns with Tea Party groups vs. Donna Caracappa(D)

Treasurer: Bill Snyder (R), 33 year incumbent, has not had independent audit in years, says office is daily audited by Repubican Controller vs Tom Kerns(D)

MONTGOMERY COUNTY COMMISSIONER

Bruce Castor (R), 1st term incumbent, former Montco DA, fiscal conservative

Jenny Brown (R), Lower Merion Twp supervisor, known for fiscal discipline, interviewed with Tea Party and affirmed that she shares their values

Josh Shapiro, State Representative (D), endorsed by environmental groups, supported raising taxes by over $1 billion, gov't spending increases in Harrisburg  of 21 percent, and increasing the state debt by $600 million

Leslie Richards (D), Whitemarsh Twp Supervisor, called Tea Party "a disruptive political force that held the country hostage", endorsed by environmentalists

Register of Wills: Patricia Mosesso (R) vs. Bruce Hanes (D), incumbent

Sheriff: Eileen Whalen Behr (R), incumbent vs. William Holt (D)

Treasurer: Chuck Wilson(R) vs. Jason Salus(D)

District Attorney: Risa Vetri Fermon (R), unopposed

  NORTH PENN SCHOOL BOARD

Five Republican incumbents running for re-election have been fiscally responsible in cost cutting making them unpopular with the teachers union who are working with the Democrats to upset them (even though the President of the Board is a teacher - but a fair one who has worked to control union demands)

  QUAKERTOWN SCHOOL BOARD

Quakertown Borough residents only - Gary Landes (R), a conservative vs. the

incumbent Kathy Mosely (D) (who is part of the problem on that board)

 PENNRIDGE SCHOOL BOARD

Jaime's note: Vote for Duane Deming, Joe Mack, Ada Miller, and Dave Thompson

Our candidates are endorsed by the Pennridge Taxpayers Group and the Republicans because they are all committed to fiscal discipline, a return to basics in academics, better community relations, and holding the administration accountable.

Their opponents are three incumbents and two parents who are running to keep student programs.  Their fiscal solution is RAISE TAXES.  Ours is reduce costs to free up funds for student and educational programs and keep taxes down.

Calls Needed

to

Oppose the U.S. Senate's Big-Government Education Bill

William A. Estrada, Esq.
HSLDA Federal Relations

Melanie P. Palazzo
Congressional Action Program Director

November 1, 2011

Introduction

The U.S. Senate Education Committee has decided to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). This massive federal education bill was last reauthorized in 2001 as the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).

HSLDA's federal relations staff have read this 868-page bill, and we believe that while it does not directly impact homeschool freedom, the bill will 1) increase the federal role in education at the expense of state, local, and parental control, and 2) will greatly increase the pressure on states to align their curriculum and standards, resulting in de facto national education standards.

Urgent Calls Needed to Senate Education Committee

The Senate Education Committee has already voted this ESEA bill out of committee, but at the urging of Senator Rand Paul (KY) the committee will hold a hearing on the bill Tuesday, November 8. If either of your senators are on the Education Committee, HSLDA urges you to call with the following message:

"I am concerned that the ESEA reauthorization bill scheduled for a committee hearing next Tuesday will greatly increase the federal government's control over education. As a homeschooler, I understand that parents-not federal education officials-are best suited to make educational choices for their children. Please oppose attempts to increase national control over education."

You may identify and contact your two U.S. senators using HSLDA's Legislative Toolbox.

Senators Paul, Richard Burr (NC), and Orrin Hatch (UT) share our concerns about this bill and should be thanked.

Background

In 2001, Congress passed NCLB. While HSLDA was neutral on this bill because it included strongly written protections for homeschoolers, and prohibitions on federal funding for national teacher certification, national standards, national testing, and national databases, NCLB also greatly increased the federal government's role in education.

A decade later, nearly all education policy makers agree that NCLB is too inflexible. HSLDA believes this illustrates that the federal government should not be in the business of establishing education policy for the nation's schoolchildren.

This past month, the U.S. Senate has been working on reauthorizing NCLB. HSLDA is concerned the Senate's bill continues the failed "Washington-knows-best, one-size-fits-all" approach that was widely criticized in NCLB. In addition, one provision in the Senate's bill mandates that any state taking federal funds must put in place "College and Career Ready Aligned Standards." Mandating that each state have aligned standards with aligned coursework will guarantee the creation of national academic standards, national curriculum, and national testing. We believe this will result in the eventual requirement that homeschoolers use these national standards, curriculum, and testing.

For more about HSLDA's concerns read "The Danger of National Standards" and "Nationalized Education Standards-an Update for Home Educators."

You may also read HSLDA's legislative summary.

It is still unclear at this point whether homeschool protections will stay in the Senate's education bill, but even if they do, the trend of national standards could lead to homeschoolers losing the freedom to choose the curriculum for their children. For these reasons, HSLDA is urging opposition to the Senate's ESEA reauthorization legislation.

A Special Invitation
To a Two-Day Campaign Training
Presented by Pennsylvania Family PAC

Changing the Culture by Winning Campaigns

November 9-10, 2011

Harrisburg, PA

Voters today - perhaps more than at any time in recent history - are yearning for principled candidates committed to standing strong for the timeless values upon which our country was founded and standing stronger against the politics-as-usual establishment working to undermine those values.

  •         Are you such a candidate - or do you know one running in your area that you'd like to help? or
  •         Do you wish you had the skills to help elect a good candidate? or
  • Have you thought about running for local or state elected office - or know of someone else?

The Winning Campaigns training school shows pro-life, pro-family, principled - candidates, campaign staff, and grassroots activists how to run winning campaigns without compromising their values - with a special emphasis placed on running and winning primaries (even against incumbents).

Who should attend?
Local or state candidates, potential candidates, campaign staff, campaign volunteers, grassroots leaders, and concerned citizens - who are committed to advancing pro-life/pro-family principles. This training is perfect for anyone who wishes to learn how to run or assist the local campaigns of those running for elected office.

What's the cost?
Nothing; registration is free, but you must register in advance.

More details on the event and an informational brochure are available by request. To get more information or to register, call Dan at 717-545-0600.

THIS IS BY INVITATION ONLY. YOU are invited (as a PA Family supporter), but if you know of someone else who could benefit from this training as a candidate or potential candidate or campaign worker, please let them know and have them contact us directly. But hurry, space is limited and reservations should be made by November 4th.

American and PA Laws for PA Courts

I urge you to stand with me and co-sponsor my new legislation, "American and Pennsylvania Laws for Pennsylvania Courts." This legislation protects the individual constitutional rights of the people of Pennsylvania from the incursion of foreign laws, in cases in which the application of a foreign law or foreign legal doctrine would violate someone's constitutional rights.

Go here to see the full document . . .:

Our constitutional rights and founding principles of freedom should not be abridged by any offshore entity, including and especially those who would promote Sharia law.

Once before on June 19, we asked that you contact your elected representatives and urge them to co-sponsor a bill to prohibit foreign law from consideration in any and all cases in our state courts.  You were very responsive and there are now 21 co-sponsors on the bill!

Listed below are the co-sponsors to date.  if your rep is not on the list, kindly contact him/her even if it's the second time, by taking the 3 action steps below.
The more co-sponsors the bill has the more likely it is that the legislators will vote affirmatively to pass it into law.

It is significant what Rep. Swanger's office said when sending us the list of co-sponsors
:
"I feel a lot of them co-sponsored because of the message that was sent out by you to contact the Reps about this legislation.   A lot of district offices & Harrisburg offices called or e-mailed right after that was sent out."

Here's the list:

Kerry Benninghoff

Scott Boyd

Dom Costa

Tom Creighton

George Dunbar

Frank Farry

Neal Goodman

Seth Grove

Kate Harper

Dick Hess

Scott Hutchinson

Rob

Kauffman

Daryl Metcalfe (asked to be listed as a 2nd)

Carl Metzgar

Scott Perry (asked to be listed 3rd)

Rick Saccone

Stan Saylor

Curt Schroder

Jerry Stern

Dick Stevenson

Will Tallman    Here are the action steps:

    1.  read the attached letter from Rep. Swanger, which went out in early June to all PA House members

    2.  visit, or call, your representative and ask him/her to call Rep. Swanger's secretary, Lily Horst, 717-787-2686, or email her at lhorst@pahousegop.com to be added to the list of the bill's cosponsors

    3.  timing: please move quickly, as they may be getting to the next step (obtaining a bill number).   Make contact, and gain their commitment, by August 1.  Having many co-sponsors on a bill, as you know, will help build momentum in the right direction quickly.

Thank you for your efforts.

Surviving an Economic or Natural Disaster Meeting - Saturday, November 12th 6pm

Speaker:  Gordon Smith

Where:  P J Ryan's, 231 Bridge Street, Phoenixville - downstairs private dining area.

Natural disasters can strike at any time.  Economic downturns can wipe out your savings, your retirement and your ability to support yourself.  This session focuses on what you should do to protect your family in a financial or economic disaster.  Will you have enough food, water and medicines?  Can you survive without electricity and urban infrastructure until help arrives?  Can you support your family if your job is outsourced or eliminated? This session will help you assess the risk and offers realistic suggestions to ensure you and your family are prepared for the challenges when faced with a physical disaster or economic setback.

Gordon Smith retired from his international security firm last year to devote himself to the Tea Party movement.  He is dedicated to the restoration of our country and protecting our freedoms. A successful author and lecturer, he specializes in analyzing political issues, separating the truth from the chaff.  His direct approach ensures that the message is not muddled with platitudes.  Factual, straight forward, articulate and often humorous, Mr. Smith's passion for the issues, makes his presentation well worth attending.

"snacks; I.e. Slim jims, granola bars, you name it. Especially for units that go on patrol that have to eat MRE's all the time. Portable or carry size Snacks or small food items are invaluable to a soldier out on a 4 week mission. Bigger items might include small coolers or anything that might keep drinks cold. I also found something as simple as a coffee thermos was incredibly invaluable. Off mission speaking, footballs, soccer balls, DVD movies, magazines and newspapers from home are great. Also Non-elastic bed sheets can provide comfort and privacy if hung up for soldiers crammed in living areas. Hope this helps!"

Thomas Jefferson: "Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers....a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."

But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it's been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

Urgent! Frances Fox Piven will be speaking at Occupy Philly , Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8th, 5:30-6:30pm!

I just found this tidbit on the OWS-Philadlephia Facebook page.  They are gloating and oh so proud that Piven is coming to Philadelphia to lend her support.  Most recently, 50 UPENN Professors including the admitted Communist Noam Chomsky sent an official letter of endorsement to Occupy Philadelphia. Someone should be there to record every word and the crowd reactions.  Most of us will be busy working at the polling places that day.  Please share this!  MD

Cloward-Piven strategy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Piven's false characterizations against the Tea Party movement was recently challenged by a not-so-friendly crowd at Messiah College:

Frances Fox Piven's Call to Riot

by Stephen Gutowski

Late last week my alma mater, Messiah College, invited radical leftist Prof. Frances Fox Piven to speak.  Because I was unhappy with my school extending such an invitation to someone so far out of the mainstream, I decided to go and see exactly what Piven would say, and how the school would handle the event.

Surprisingly the school handled the actual event well, by allowing an ideologically diverse crowd to attend, question, and challenge Piven's speech.  However, unsurprisingly, Piven had plenty of controversial things to say.

While her speech focused mainly on her vision of enfranchising as many people as possible, and removing obstacles to an American direct-democracy, she made plenty of diversions into even more radical areas. For instance, she talked about how racist the Tea Party is several different times,  She even went so far as to say Tea Partiers are anxious because "they don't like the idea of a black President."  Though she did back-track on that claim once pressed by the crowd, and eventually even labeled the Tea Party an "authentic" movement.

RedState

RedState Morning Briefing

For November 8, 2011

1. Mitt Romney as the Nominee: Conservatism Dies and Barack Obama Wins

Mit Romney will not go on Special Report with Brett Baier to answer the tough questions as the other candidates have done. No worries. Conservatives will bitch and moan for a few days and Romney will claim it was a scheduling issue, he'd always meant to go on, and he will go on.

Should Mitt Romney win the Presidency, conservatives will find this pattern play out repeated. Romney will head in a direction conservatives do not like and they will bitch and moan repeatedly and maybe, just maybe, he'll part his hair in their direction.

We've seen this play out over and over. Jon Huntsman comes up with the best economic plan of all the candidates, Herman Cain follows up with 999, Perry comes out with a flat tax, and Romney refuses to do anything. Until he does something.

Mitt Romney is not the George W. Bush of 2012 - he is the Harriet Miers of 2012, only conservative because a few conservative grand pooh-bahs tell us Mitt Romney is conservative and for no other reason.

That is precisely why Mitt Romney will not win in 2012. But no worry, once he loses, Republican establishment types will blame conservatives for not doing enough for Mitt Romney, never mind that Mitt Romney has never been able to sell himself to more than 25% of the GOP voters. It's not his fault though, it is the 75%'s fault.

Mitt Romney is going to be the Republican nominee. And his general election campaign will be an utter disaster for conservatives as he takes the GOP down with him and burns up what it means to be a conservative in the process.

2. The Rollercoaster goes back down for Herman Cain

We saw last week that Herman Cain was on his way up before the Politico story, and fell off slightly afterward.

Friday brought us a new poll which reinforces past conclusions. Yes, he really was on the way down last week, despite raising money in the seven figures.

3. Perry and Gingrich, sitting in the polls...

R-E-B-O-U-N-D-I-N-G.

First came Cain, then came Politico, then came USA Today/Gallup and NBC News/Wall Street Journal with the latest numbers.

This also make three straight post-scandal polls that have shown Cain to have re-lost his lead over Romney.

4. Can Rick Perry Rebound With a Flat Tax?

The Perry campaign wants to reboot, having retooled and refined its message and tried hard to get back on the jobs message.

Okay, fine, but first the Perry camp needs to answer a basic question - why should supporters who went all in for him and wound up feeling burned give him a second shot? I asked him about that and it was, perhaps, a good sign that he stayed on the jobs message.

The jobs message, though, raises a question about his flat tax - won't it just help the rich? Also, what about President Obama's approach and his hostility to jobs and economic reform.

I got into all those with Governor Perry last Wednesday in Orange County, CA. Perry also previewed a new line he's using with credit to Jim DeMint - "Are you better off than you were $4 trillion ago?"

5. A Note To Charlotte's Workers: Get A Written Guarantee You Won't Be Outsourced To Unions

Based on a tip last week and subsequent conversations with employees at Charlotte's Ritz Carlton who, according to them, had been told that they are to be displaced by union workers during the DNC's 2012 Convention, apparently Charlotte's mayor and the hotel are saying that the story is untrue.

According to WBT.com's Chris Miller's twitter feed: Ritz-Carlton calls today's RedState story "absolutely false."

If the story is "absolutely false," then either the Ritz Carlton, Charlotte has a communications problem within its own hotel or employees either a) misunderstood what had been told to them, b) are lying (which seems unlikely), or c) had been told, but their management is now walking it back due to the political ramifications-since the employee (recorded here) is a Ritz-Carlton employee who spoke over the weekend.

6. NYT Editorial Page Editor struggles to examine the record on voter fraud

For a number of reasons, I tend to avoid claims of media bias, as I am often reminded of Silberman's Law, from Rumsfeld's Rules, that notes that we often overstate "conspiracy," while "underestimat[ing] incompetency and fortuity." However, I have trouble explaining this one any other way. The New York Times editorial page editor, Andy Rosenthal, says, "A half-dozen times or so I've asked followers of my Twitter feed for examples of voter fraud - particularly of a scale that would justify erecting barriers against whole groups of voters. Haven't gotten any." Now, this was the first that I had heard of it because, well, I don't follow Mr. Rosenthal. However, I am not convinced that I will start following him, as he seems unequipped with the basic tools of research.

Now, like Mr. Rosenthal, I do get frustrated with discussions of election fraud that don't detail specific convictions. And while I believe that ACORN-style registration fraud is a real problem, I try to avoid discussing it. After all, we should lead with our strongest argument.

So let's review some recent convictions, just to remind ourselves that election fraud happens, it is well documented, and it sways elections.

Give them another reason why Obama has GOT to go.

NO. 14.
He doesn't understand his people. To any liberal dumb enough to be mystified by Obama's consistently dismal approval ratings, just look at the way the president always puts socialistic principles before the needs of the American people. His administration's legal war against Arizona's attempt to enforce immigration law is a case in point. The United States has a serious illegal immigrant problem. So what does Obama do when the state of Arizona makes the intelligent-and nationally popular-decision to allow its police to question people about their immigration status during routine stops? Why, he seeks to have the state law overturned in the courts, so as to pander to the hurt feelings of the Mexican government (which supplies the illegals) and to his hard-left sympathizers (who see the illegal immigrants as a future left-wing voting bloc). The American people will not forgive him for jeopardizing their security in this way.

A Pakistani Love Story

It's still quite a while till Valentine's Day in the United States, but in Pakistan the day of love came early as a Romeo named Ahmed Yusuf threw acid in the face of his 9 year old Juliet, his wife/cousin causing extensive burns over her body.

Ahmed Yusuf couldn't have known any better. Throwing acid at a woman in Pakistan is their culture's version of roses and chocolate. And since he was only 10 years old, his father and brothers were happy to help out.

After the father who had married off a 9 year old girl to her 10 year old cousin noticed the acid burns, which the family tried to pass off as a skin condition, he earned a "Father of the Year" trophy by taking her back home, but that didn't dissuade his brother and nephews who showed up and thew acid on her again.

Now the acid burned girl and father are on the run with the Pakistani police in hot pursuit because the local law favors turning the girl back to her husband. The whole thing might end in an honor-killing or charges of adultery, a term that in the Muslim world covers everything from marrying without a father's permission to being gang raped in an alley.

What could a 9 year old girl possibly have done that would result in multiple acid attacks from her own uncle/father-in-law and her child husband? The answer is simple. She was a 9 year old girl in a culture where weakness only inspires cruelty, where animals are routinely tortured and people are treated like animals.

The New Holocaust - The Christians

"When they came for the Jews, I didn't say anything. . . . when they came for the Gypsies, I didn't say anything. . . . when they came for the Jehovah's Witnesses, I didn't say anything, when they finally came for me, there was no one left to say anything."

We are all familiar with the above quotation (or should be), but we quickly forget that a new holocaust could be taking place with our totally passive acquiescence. Right now, as we lead our quiet lives, the Christian communities all over the Middle East are being decimated by a growing wave of Islamic radicalism (the media has named it for us as "the Arab spring").

The media, and our administration, are all aflush in the glow of possibilities of budding democracy, and very, very silent on the death of a Christian presence in the Middle East due to the growing bulldozer of militant Islamism.

Here's the really bad news; we are funding the slaughter by continuing aid to regimes committing these crimes! To the newly-empowered Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt alone, we are going to send two billion dollars a year to enable them to finish off their Christians!

We can remain silent- and therefore implicit in the new holocaust- or we can write the administration and demand witholding the largesse until their leadership calls a halt to the killing, the church-burnings and the vicious repression of the targeted Christian communities.

Our voices need to be heard.

"For evil to take place, all it takes is people of good will to remain silent."

Straight Talk for the Super Committee

It has been 12 months since the American people spoke resoundingly at the polls against overtaxing, overspending, and overborrowing, but memories can be short in Washington.

All it takes is for a couple of politicos and the so-called "mainstream" media to denigrate the Tea Party and the freshman congressional class--and urge compromise--and you have the spectacle of some Members of Congress hiding under the neutral-sounding "revenue raising" banner and urging the so-called "Super Committee" to raise taxes.

Throw in some character assassination of those holding the line against spending and higher taxes and you have a potential stampede on Capitol Hill that rivals the flight of a herd of buffalo in an old Western movie.

The "Silent Generation" will devastate Obama and his Party next year

Nov 07, 2011 05:13 am | Coach Collins

 By Kevin "Coach" Collins

Grandma and grandpa are not happy! They are sick of the mess the Occupy Wall Street type brats have made of our country.

This is the conclusion to be drawn from a  new Pew Research poll of Americans 66 to 83 years of age on our current political situation.

Referring to this group as the "Silent Generation", Pew reports that they came of age in time to vote for Truman Eisenhower and Kennedy, so they did not necessarily  fall into the habit of reflexively voting for Roosevelt and the whole Democrat ticket. They had their flirtation with supporting Democrats such as Bill Clinton in the 1990s but didn't like what it brought about. Since the 2000 election these "Silents" have been voting at increasingly higher rates for Republicans.

 Remembering how America should be

When stacked up against other generations - Boomers Gen Xers and Milennials,  Pew's "Silent Generation" is markedly more "angry" at ... Continue Reading:The "Silent Generation" will devastate Obama and his Party next year

Proof offered for 2nd Amendment-busting intent of Fast & Furious

Nov 06, 2011 01:13 pm | Coach Collins

 By Doug Book, staff writer

When Jim and Sarah Brady met with Barack Obama on the 30th anniversary of the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan,  they asked the President how he would help to advance their Handgun Control,  Inc  (now the Brady Campaign)  gun control/gun confiscation agenda. Obama's response:  "I just want you to know that we are working on it.  We have to go through a few processes,  but under the radar."

In the seven months since that meeting,  many have suggested Obama's comment was a dark reference to the criminal Operation Fast and Furious.  After all,  without the courage of ATF whistle blowers,  the murderous and unconstitutional scheme would have probably remained  "under the radar"  even to this day.

And now some very revealing information has been compiled by blogger Bob Owens to lend further credence to the belief that Fast and Furious had nothing to do with the taking down of Mexican drug cartels and everything ... Two Compelling Steves for the Price of One

Dear Patriots:

This week, we interviewed one of my all-time favorite members of Congress, Rep. Steve King of Iowa. One of the most conservative members of the House of Representatives, Rep. King has straight-talking advice for Republican leadership, a critical take on Occupy Wall Street and insightful words about the Republican presidential candidates.

Click here to watch our interview with Rep. King.

Last week, we aired a short interview with one of those candidates, Herman Cain, and a full-length talk with John Fonte and Steve Groves about the trans-national progressive agenda.

Next week: Lord Monckton!

Cheers,

Ginni

P.S. Just for a laugh, check out this Steven Colbert video on Occupy Wall Street.

The wealth gap between younger and older Americans has stretched to the widest on record, worsened by a prolonged economic downturn that has wiped out job opportunities for young adults and saddled them with housing and college debt.

The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday.

Grassfire Nation Update

Our sources are telling Grassfire Nation that the Senate is expected to vote THIS WEEK on a key resolution (S.J. Res. 6) -- the Congressional Review Act Resolution of Disapproval of the Obama administration's illegal takeover of the Internet through Net Neutrality regulations!

As we've warned before, this aggressive power grab would  destroy one of the last, great free-market frontiers our nation and the world has ever seen and kill an estimated 100,000 to 200,000 real jobs -- unlike the fake jobs allegedly created by the President.

+ + Schedule your Faxes for Immediate Delivery!

Having already delivered more than 0 petitions to the FCC and key members of the Senate, and the vote likely taking place this week, it is critical for grassroots Americans to challenge the unconstitutional power-grab by demanding Congress protect First Amendment free speech rights on the Internet.

Fifty-one votes are needed to end this threat -- meaning four Democrat votes are needed.

Grassfire Nation has identified the most vulnerable Democrats in this vote, and we are asking key members of our team to answer our call for action by scheduling personalized faxes for immediate delivery.

With a click of the button below, we will fax directly to your two Pennsylvania Senators, your Representative as well as key Democrats -- whose votes are needed to hold Obama and the FCC at bay.

Click here to schedule your faxes for delivery:

If you prefer to send faxes on your own, simply download the fax numbers, and the letters if you prefer to send them on your own. Regardless of the methods you choose, it is important for citizens to act.

Thank you for your outstanding efforts.

Obama: The Affirmative Action President

By Matt Patterson

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages.  How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer"; a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote "present"); and finally an unaccomplished single term in United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.  He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as legislator.

And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor"; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor.  It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?

Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal:

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 365 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS

Left-wing Thugs Assault Conservatives

Events in the streets of Washington, D.C., on Friday night must be a wakeup call to every decent American. Just a few miles from the White House, "Occupy" thugs physically attacked conservatives attempting to attend a "Defending the American Dream" dinner hosted by the conservative group Americans for Prosperity.

Roving left-wing mobs set up road blocks at key intersections leading to the event and blocked any luxury car that approached. At the event venue, conservative attendees were pushed and shoved, including a 78 year-old woman who had to be hospitalized after she was pushed down steps.

According to the online news outlet The Daily Caller, organizers of the dinner, fearing for the safety of the attendees, called 911 four times to request more police assistance -- and were hung up on. You can watch a video here of some of the scenes, but I must caution you that the language is vile and the images are disturbing.

The left-wing "storm troopers" who assaulted old ladies in our nation's capital Friday night are not a fringe of the Occupy movement. Nearly one-third of Occupy Wall Street demonstrators in Zuccotti Park told Democrat pollster Douglas Schoen that they supported violence to advance their agenda. Last week, Leo Gerard, president of United Steelworkers union, called for more "militancy" by the Occupy groups. Three days later Occupy Oakland anarchists attacked businesses and trashed the shopping district while the city's left-wing mayor did nothing.

The Occupy movement has been praised by Obama, Biden, Pelosi and other Democrat leaders. Not one of them has said a word about the physical assaults on conservatives this past weekend. The Washington Post ran just one story, focusing on a driver who brushed against demonstrators who jumped in front of his car.

I have warned repeatedly that the elections, which take place one year from today, will be marred by ugly tactics, fraud and worse. Leftist groups are calling for their people to disrupt the Iowa caucuses. Events unfolding in the streets of our cities, including here in D.C., are a disturbing marker of the increasing radicalization and violence of the political left.

Gird yourself for 365 traumatic days ahead. Do not allow yourself to be intimidated or cowed by hoodlums. Now more than ever we must defend our country and our values with our votes and our resources. We did not defeat Hitler's fascists and Soviet Communism only to stand by while homegrown totalitarians take control of our streets.

Bail Outs And Bonuses

Here we go again. They are coming back to Congress with their hands out, demanding billions more for yet another taxpayer bailout. To add insult to injury, their top executives are getting millions in bonus checks.

It's another story tailor made for the Occupy Wall Street movement, but there is silence from Zuccotti Park. We have not heard a peep from Obama, and not one media elite is in high dudgeon. Why not? Because this isn't a story about big banks, but rather about big government.

The government housing behemoths Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have already taken more than $160 billion in taxpayer bailouts. Last week, Freddie Mac announced it needed another $6 billion after it lost more than $4 billion in the last quarter.

Yet, unbelievably, the agencies are paying out $13 million in bonuses to top executives who already make hefty salaries. Some of them will take home seven figure checks for losing billions of your hard-earned tax dollars! Where is the outrage from the left about this abuse of taxpayer resources?

Cain Accuser Comes Forward

A fourth woman has accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment during his tenure at the National Restaurant Association. However, unlike the other accusers this woman came forward today and held a press conference with celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, during which she described Cain's alleged behavior. I won't go into all the sordid details. But by virtue of coming forward with such accusations, it is guaranteed that this woman's history will be as thoroughly vetted as Cain's. Unfortunately for Herman Cain, it means the story isn't going away.

Paul The Pacifist

When it comes to foreign policy, Ron Paul's views are most often defined as "isolationism." But I am convinced Paul at heart is a pacifist. His foreign policy views are dangerously naïve and, in my opinion, disqualify him from consideration to be our next commander-in-chief. Every time he opens his mouth, he sounds like appeaser Neville Chamberlain or the radicals at Code Pink.

Consider this exchange yesterday between Paul and Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace:

WALLACE: Let's turn to Iran, because there is growing fear around the world, and there's going to be a new IAEA -- the U.N. nuclear watchdog -- report this next week that the country is getting closer to a nuclear break out... Would President Paul do anything to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon?

PAUL: Only by a change in foreign policy and treating them differently. ...But you are saying they might put a weapon together. See, the worst thing could be an overreaction and go to war over this. ...when you put on strong sanctions, those are acts of war because we did that in Iraq for 10 years, and little kids died... So, I would say treat them differently and it'd be less threatening.

WALLACE: When you say treat them differently --

PAUL: Don't put sanctions.

WALLACE: So, how are we going to persuade them not to pursue a nuclear weapon?

PAUL: Well, maybe offering friendship to them. ...For them to be a threat to us or to anybody in the region I think is just blown out of proportion. ...

Seriously, Ron? Iran is not a threat to us or anyone in the region? Ever heard of Hezbollah? What about the multitude of reports indicating that the IEDs blowing up our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have been coming out of Iran?

Paul thinks we can join hands with the mullahs, sing Kumbaya and all will be well. Obama has tried the "kid gloves" approach with Iran, and this week's expected IAEA reports will speak volumes about his success. The world remains a dangerous place, and America desperately needs a leader who has the will to defend freedom from tyranny here and abroad.

And in case there is anyone on this list who still thinks Ron Paul would make a good president, Paul said last week that he opposed the resolution reaffirming "In God We Trust" as our national motto.

A Nation Of Bystanders?

Politically, Americans are more engaged than at any time in at least a generation.  The Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street movements attest to Americans' increasing unwillingness to sit on the political sidelines. But on a personal level, we are becoming a nation of bystanders, less willing than ever to get involved in one another's lives -- even when horrific crimes are taking place. You can read more in my weekly column at humanevents.com.

Confronting The Religious Left

I debated Reverend Jim Wallis, head of the Soros-funded group Sojourners, on CNN's State of the Union Sunday. Wallis and Sojourners use the Gospel to sell big government socialism to Christians. In our brief debate, I was able to defend the sanctity of life, knock down Wallis' radical environmental views and make the case that left-wing proposals that destroy jobs are immoral! By the way, Wallis recently said that the Occupy Wall Street crowd reflected the "face" of Jesus.

"Occupy DC" Violently Raids Tea Party's "Defending the American Dream Summit"...many injured

Occupy DC protesters violently injured peaceful Tea Party go-ers (some elderly) and attemped to force entry into the Washington Convention Center on Friday (Nov 4, 2011), where Americans for Prosperity is hosting their "Defending the American Dream Summit." The protesters also formed roadblocks, surrounding the convention center and only allowing non-luxury cars to pass. Parents with their children were caught in the violence. Some injured... Auto/pedestrian accidents occured as Occupy protestors rushed into the streets hurling profanities at drivers and attempting to block drivers' paths. This has to stop...

Corruption, Fraud and Voter Intimidation ignored in Atlantic Beach, South Carolina as elections are overturned

At the link, an shameful example of corruption where the "elect few" use intimidation and manipulation of the levers of the election process to retain political power at any cost.  This is the type of unfortunate situation where DOJ should be quietly observing the voting process to deter illegal activity that harms voters and provide legitimacy to election results when the rules are followed.  Because of the city's rich history for black Americans, the blatant corruption found in the "Black Pearl" is simply ignored by the Holder Civil Rights Division.

Why?  Perhaps because the minority population under the thumb are the small number of whites and independent blacks outside the official power structure; therefore, apparently subject to abuse without protection or Justice.  The result:  Atlantic City's electoral processes are burning so hot that elections are now being overturned.

ATLANTIC BEACH, SC -- The Atlantic Beach election commission Saturday overturned the Nov. 1 municipal election after the results were successfully appealed by three candidates. A new election will be held in 180 days. Benny Webb, town administrator, said the commission accepted that the evidence and witness testimony was solid enough to uphold the appeals and overturn the election.  Windy Price, Misty Umphries and James Van Fleet appealed after the votes were certified on Thursday.  Webb said the three claimed there was intimidation to both voters and candidates and that there was possible voter registration and vote fraud.  The trio also questioned some of the voting machines. The commission apparently agreed.

Brief · November 7, 2011

The Foundation

"I suppose, indeed, that in public life, a man whose political principles have any decided character and who has energy enough to give them effect must always expect to encounter political hostility from those of adverse principles." --Thomas Jefferson

Opinion in Brief

Intra-party fight

"Somewhere around 2004 the Republican Party broke in a new way. The GOP had been riven before -- Taft-Eisenhower, Goldwater-Establishment, Reagan-Ford -- and always healed back. But the split that grew after 2004 was different. Trust broke, and in a time not of peace and prosperity but of crisis. Which made the impact deeper. What is called the tea party is the rightward part of the conservative base. They became angry that they had trusted the Republican establishment during a Republican presidency, only to see that establishment run up huge debt, launch foreign wars, contribute to the surveillance state, and refuse to control America's borders. What made the anger deeper is that they were angry at themselves. They felt complicit: They had not rebelled, they had trusted the party: 'They're the GOP establishment, they must know what they're doing.' What the conservative base had learned by 2008 is: Don't trust the Republican party. Don't trust its establishments. ... The Republicans' challenge now: holding together, and breaking 20th-century stereotypes. They should distance themselves from government even as they prove they can govern, and not only oppose but propose. They should put themselves apart from the rigged, piggish insider life of Washington. And try not to look nuts while they're doing it." --columnist Peggy Noonan

Political Futures

"[R]ight now, the 'anybody but Mitt' crowd to me looks like a mix of Perry fans who can't believe any conservative could seriously support those jokers Cain and Bachmann, Cain fans who can't believe anybody could back that loser Perry and that loon Bachmann, Bachmann fans who can't believe everybody's jumped off the bandwagon of the one true conservative fighter, Newt fans who can't believe everybody makes such a big deal about his marital difficulties, and so on. I'm not sure anybody has much of a second choice right now, much less a potential consensus choice. I exaggerate slightly, but right now, it doesn't seem as if many primary voters see many of the options as 'pretty good.' The field is simply 'their guy' versus a bunch of laughingstocks who deserve to be booed off the stage." --National Review's Jim Geraghty

What is your view of the Republican field?

Faith & Family

"Economic envy may cloak itself in rhetoric about 'inequality' or 'egalitarianism' or 'redistribution of wealth,' but its oldest name is covetousness. That is the sin enjoined by the last of the Ten Commandments: 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house; thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is thy neighbor's.' At first blush it may seem odd that God would ban a mere desire. After all, the other nine commandments concern behavior: idolatry, theft, perjury, and so on. But as a matter of moral and social hygiene, the Tenth Commandment is indispensable. Covetousness -- particularly when it takes the form of class hatred -- is the root of innumerable other evils. From the belief that you don't have enough because others have too much, it isn't that great a stretch to the belief that those who have too much should be forced to make do with less. It shouldn't be surprising when a movement obsessed with what rich capitalists earn rather than with what they produce starts treating other people's property and persons with contempt. Occupy Wall Street preaches that the '1 percent' got rich by exploiting the '99 percent.' The Tea Party believes that with greater freedom and less government, we could all be more prosperous and productive. One is rooted in envy, the other in self-respect. What distinguishes them, you might say, is the culture of the Tenth Commandment. That distinction is showing up in many ways, not least in the latest police reports." --columnist Jeff Jacoby

Re: The Left

"NBC anchor Brian Williams, in the argot of the moment, certainly belongs to 'The One Percent.' He lives in the glass-encased Bloomberg Tower in mid-town Manhattan, 34 stories above the tony restaurant Le Cirque at 58th Street and Lexington Avenue. ... Yet night after night on the news, Williams and the other 1 percent multi-millionaire anchors dutifully chronicle every new publicity line from the people who 'occupy' parks, often public, to claim to represent the other 99 percent. It's liberal guilt in motion. ... Somehow 'freedom of speech' requires violence for the liberals. It draws larger press coverage, even as it seems to be designed to cast the police as an evil empire. These protesters seek to delegitimize the government. Where is the media outrage? Does anyone recall tear gas and rock-throwing riots at Tea Party events? ... [I]magine if a gaggle of protesters decided to occupy the hallway of Brian Williams in the Bloomberg Tower for months. Could they chant, 'the whole world is watching' every morning when he popped out to grab his New York Times? Would he smile and wave? Or would that suddenly seem less like a free-speech festival and more like politicized vagrants squatting? How much would you bet Williams would quickly call the security forces to get them removed?" --columnist L. Brent Bozell

Government

"When you invest your own money, your biggest concern is that you'll lose the investment. To relieve you of that, you research a company before lending it your money or buying its stock. You make your decision on the likelihood and the amount of money you will earn from the investment, and whether or not you can afford the loss of your investment. This is your natural right to choose to do with your money as you wish. But when the government invests money for you, its decision-making is not grounded in free choice or in sound business judgment. Its decision is grounded in power and politics. The power is its ability to extract tax dollars from you even if you profoundly disagree with the way it will spend what it has extracted. The power is the government's ability to borrow cash in your name, even if you disagree with the borrowing. Since the government isn't risking its own money, but yours, it needn't worry about affording a loss. Stated differently, the government doesn't care if it loses your money. It only cares if it loses your votes and thus loses power. Its goal is not a return on investment; its goal is staying in power." --columnist Judge Andrew Napolitano

Essential Liberty

"As I expected when I first heard about the Arab Spring, only simpletons can ever be overjoyed at the notion of a tyrant being overthrown in that part of the world. King Farouk was bad, Gamal Nasser was worse. The Shah of Iran was bad, the Ayatollah Khomeini was worse. Hosni Mubarak was bad, the generals are worse. Muammar Kaddafi was bad, his assassins will be worse. I understand that the Muslim Brotherhood has already sent roses and a box of candy to NATO. When I say that Arab and Muslim coups and revolutions inevitably end badly, I mean for America. For those who live in those countries, it's merely a matter of trading one set of sadists for another. Because we are the people who benefitted from the efforts of Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison and Franklin, we tend to have a soft spot in our hearts for those who rise up against despots. But, as the results of such uprisings bring the likes of Robespierre, Napoleon, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and Castro, to power, I'd say that the optimism over such bloody events merely proves that we have an even larger soft spot in our heads." --columnist Burt Prelutsky

The Gipper

"The bulk of Israel's population lived within artillery range of hostile Arab armies. I am not about to ask Israel to live that way again. Since the foundation of the State of Israel, the United States has stood by her and helped her to pursue security, peace, and economic growth. Our friendship is based on historic moral and strategic ties, as well as our shared dedication to democracy. For the people of Israel and America are historic partners in the global quest for human dignity and freedom. We will always remain at each other's side." --Ronald Reagan

The Last Word

"[My tax plan is] extremely simple -- so simple even the average congressman should be able to understand it. First, we need to come up with a budget for the next year's expenses. Here's the nice thing: There's no limit on that. If we want lots of government programs and 'free' health care and whatnot, we can just go ahead and add it. All we have to do is make sure we price it realistically. Once we have the yearly budget, we then figure out taxes. This is, once again, extremely simple. We take the cost of the budget for a year and divide that by the number of families in America. And that is how much each family has to pay in taxes. Simple. Fair. Insanely fair, even. See, with all its wonders and opportunities, America is a lot like Disney World. And Disney World costs the same no matter what your income is. It also costs the same if you go on a lot of rides or only a few. And no one complains about that being unfair. So let's just break down how much America costs to run and turn that into the cost of an annual pass to America and all its services and entitlements." --columnist Frank J. Fleming

Wisconsin's Recovery- WOW!!!

That "evil" Gov. Scott Walker!

The Democrats and Liberals are keeping really quiet about this.   Is There any wonder why Obama stayed away from Wisconsin on his latest Campaign Tour (Listening Tour, Cough! Cough!), even though he was right next door.  Wisconsin is the last place they want to talk about, just like New Jersey !

 Important read!!!!!!!

This got really quiet when it came out.  Well, here are the results.

Remember the violent and disgusting demonstrations over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker doing away with collective bargaining for Teacher's unions?  The results are in.  Some school districts went from a $400,000 deficit to a $1,500,000 surplus as a result.  They are even hiring new teachers, not firing like the Liberals said would happen.  Why?     It seems that the insurance company that provided all the "so-called" benefits to the teachers was an insurance company owned and operated by the teacher's union.  Since the outfit was guaranteed to get the insurance business from the teachers, and the State had to pay for it (not the teachers) the insurance company was increasing  annual costs every single year to become the most expensive insurance company in the state.  Then the company was donating millions and millions of dollars to its favorite democrat politicians who, when they got elected, guaranteed to keep funding the union's outrageous costs.  In other words, the insurance company was a"pass through" for Wisconsin taxpayer money directly to the democrat politicians.    Nice racket, and this is the racket that is going on in every single State that allows collective bargaining.  No wonder the States are taking it away. Now the State of Wisconsin is free to put the insurance contract out for bids and, lo and behold, they have saved so much money it has turned deficits into surplus amounts.  As a result, none of the teachers had to be laid off, everyone got a raise, etc., etc., and the taxpayers of Wisconsin don't have to pay more taxes to fund the union's political ambitions.    If you weren't aware of the reasons Gov. Walker was fighting to take away collective bargaining, it gives you an idea of the problem the Republican Party has.  Outside of one or two, none of them know how to speak up and explain properly what the problem was.  We could sure use a Ronald Reagan now, someone who could explain things for people to understand, since we know that people don't like to read anymore.

Wisconsin schools buck union to cut health costs

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker performs a ceremonial bill signing of the new budget law outside his office at the Wisconsin State Capitol on March 11, 2011 in Madison. The new law helped the Hartland-Lakeside School District save money on health care costs by switching providers.
The Hartland-Lakeside School District, about 30 miles west of Milwaukee in tiny Hartland, Wis., had a problem in its collective bargaining contract with the local teachers union.

The contract required the school district to purchase health insurance from a company called WEA Trust. The creation of Wisconsin's largest teachers union -- "WEA" stands for Wisconsin Education Association -- WEA Trust made money when union officials used collective bargaining agreements to steer profitable business its way.

The problem for Hartland-Lakeside was that WEA Trust was charging significantly higher rates than the school district could find on the open market. School officials knew that because they got a better deal from United HealthCare for coverage of nonunion employees. On more than one occasion, Superintendent Glenn Schilling asked WEA Trust why the rates were so high. "I could never get a definitive answer on that," says Schilling.

DOJ Demands Data from Alabama Schools

On Tuesday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) took further steps to impede immigration enforcement by sending a letter to the superintendants of school districts in Alabama, demanding data about student absenteeism since the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year. The DOJ letter is in direct response to Alabama's new immigration enforcement law (H.B.56), hailed as one of the toughest state laws in the country. Section 28 of H.B. 56 requires public schools to gather immigration status information from students upon enrollment, based on birth certificates, and compile and submit non-identifiable data related thereto to the state.

Obama Administration Sues South Carolina

President Obama's Justice Department (DOJ) filed suit against the State of South Carolina Monday, alleging federal law preempts the State's recently passed immigration enforcement legislation. South Carolina's law, Act No. 69, is broad in scope, containing several provisions similar to Arizona's SB 1070 and Alabama's HB 56. These provisions include making E-Verify mandatory for all employers, banning sanctuary city policies, and criminalizing the failure to comply with federal alien registration laws. As in its lawsuits against Arizona and Alabama, DOJ is seeking to enjoin the enforcement of the core provisions of the bill

SAVING MEDICARE

Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.

It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]

Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]

The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]

This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.

Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.

If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].

This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.

The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.

The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell

Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]

On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.

The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]

The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points

It is important that we

Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later

The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.

Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.

By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will

  • maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
  • provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.

It is important that we...

Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older

This bears repeating:

  • Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
  • If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
  • And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.

It is important that we...

Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees

Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.

It is important that we...

Maintain affordability

Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.

It is important that we...

Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare

Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.

It is important that we...

Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels

The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.
