"Coersion, after all, merely captures man. Freedom captivates him."

I urge you to stand with me and co-sponsor my new legislation, "American and Pennsylvania Laws for Pennsylvania Courts." This legislation protects the individual constitutional rights of the people of Pennsylvania from the incursion of foreign laws, in cases in which the application of a foreign law or foreign legal doctrine would violate someone's constitutional rights. Go here to see the full document . . .: Our constitutional rights and founding principles of freedom should not be abridged by any offshore entity, including and especially those who would promote Sharia law. Once before on June 19, we asked that you contact your elected representatives and urge them to co-sponsor a bill to prohibit foreign law from consideration in any and all cases in our state courts. You were very responsive and there are now 21 co-sponsors on the bill! Listed below are the co-sponsors to date. if your rep is not on the list, kindly contact him/her even if it's the second time, by taking the 3 action steps below. The more co-sponsors the bill has the more likely it is that the legislators will vote affirmatively to pass it into law. It is significant what Rep. Swanger's office said when sending us the list of co-sponsors : "I feel a lot of them co-sponsored because of the message that was sent out by you to contact the Reps about this legislation. A lot of district offices & Harrisburg offices called or e-mailed right after that was sent out." Here's the list: Kerry Benninghoff Scott Boyd Dom Costa Tom Creighton George Dunbar Frank Farry Neal Goodman Seth Grove Kate Harper Dick Hess Scott Hutchinson Rob Kauffman Daryl Metcalfe (asked to be listed as a 2nd) Carl Metzgar Scott Perry (asked to be listed 3rd) Rick Saccone Stan Saylor Curt Schroder Jerry Stern Dick Stevenson Will Tallman Here are the action steps: 1. read the attached letter from Rep. Swanger, which went out in early June to all PA House members 2. visit, or call, your representative and ask him/her to call Rep. Swanger's secretary, Lily Horst, 717-787-2686, or email her at lhorst@pahousegop.com to be added to the list of the bill's cosponsors 3. timing: please move quickly, as they may be getting to the next step (obtaining a bill number). Make contact, and gain their commitment, by August 1. Having many co-sponsors on a bill, as you know, will help build momentum in the right direction quickly. Thank you for your efforts. Signed, your Legislative Focus Group American and Pennsylvania Laws for Pennsylvania Courts
Sincerely, Sarah Hart Chapter Leader, ACT! Pittsburgh ACT! for America Chapter |
CALLING ALL PATRIOTS - PLEASE SEE MESSAGE BELOW AND PLEASE MAKE THESE CALLS!!!!
PHONE LIST AND TALKING POINTS - HB 934 VOTER ID
PASSED BY THE HOUSE, STUCK IN THE SENATE!!
IT IS SITTING IN THE STATE GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE
WE HAVE A REPUBLICAN SENATE, A REPUBLICAN HOUSE, AND A REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR BUT NOTHING MUCH IS GETTING DONE. WHY??
VOTER ID WILL ASSURE THAT YOUR VOTE WILL COUNT AND HELP ELIMINATE MULTIPLE VOTES, DEAD PEOPLE VOTING, AND OTHER ILLEGAL VOTING. 14 OTHER STATES HAVE PHOTO VOTER ID AND 14 STATES HAVE VOTER ID (NO PHOTO). WE KNOW THAT IN BOTH GEORGIA AND ALABAMA VOTER PARTICIPATION INCREASED SINCE PHOTO VOTER ID PASSED. WE ARE ONE OF THE ONLY DEMOCRACIES IN THE WORLD WITH NO UNIFORMLY REQUIRED VOTER ID. THE UNIONS DO NOT WANT IT AND THE ACLU DOES NOT WANT IT. YOU HAVE TO ASK YOURSELF WHY WOULD ANYONE NOT WANT VOTER ID?
EVERY ILLEGAL VOTE STEALS THE VOTE OF A LEGITIMATE VOTER.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE ALL CALL THESE KEY SENATORS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK EVERY WEEK. PUT THE PRESSURE ON TO PASS IT!!
Charles McIlhinney, Bucks County, Chairman, State Government Committee

Is the Electoral College Outdated?
Friday, November 4, 2011
12:00 PM EDT
Proponents of ending or bypassing the Electoral College say that the Founders' mode of presidential selection is outdated. With the National Popular Vote gaining momentum, the Electoral College is once again under serious attack. What would the success of this movement mean?
Dr. John Fortier, Director of the Democracy Project at the Bipartisan Policy Center, will address this question at Hillsdale College's next First Principles on First Fridays webcast.

The General Wayne Tea Party
Serving portions of Montgomery, Chester and Berks County
NEWS RELEASE
The Greatest Scam in American History?
Public Invited to Learn About the Financial Crash and Whodunit on November 1st
King of Prussia, PA (October 25, 2011): It was caused by corrupt legislators that our fellow citizens put in office. It was caused by their partners, the large, immoral financial institutions who were given an open door to wealth. It was caused by regulators who were prevented from regulating.
Tens of millions were made by those in charge; tens of thousands donated to complicit politicians, Hundreds of billions were lost by ordinary Americans. Members of both political parties were involved. All have escaped any consequences.
The November 1st meeting of The General Wayne Tea Party begins to get to the bottom of the crash. Phil Duffy has performed an exhaustive review based on recently published sources, and will present his findings. He names names, explains who did what, and when. The scope of the corruption is almost overpowering, and Phil lays it all out in gory detail. And he'll provide a handout, a single page listing the shameful dealing and double dealing that has nearly brought our country to its knees.
Phil Duffy is a graduate of Rutgers University and majored in International Business and Economics at NYU's Graduate School of Business. After service in the U.S. Army, Duffy spent much of his career in marketing, information systems and management consulting, with such firms as GE, McDonnell-Douglas and Coopers & Lyabrand. While with GE, he analyzed health care legislation, regulation and systems, including the UK's National Health Service.
A resident of West Chester, he currently teaches The Constitution and Bill of Rights for Widener University's lifelong Learning Institute and will teach a course on economics (Whatever Happened to Penny Candy?) for this program in the spring of 2012.
This meeting will be held on November 1st at the Bear Rock Café, 192 W. DeKalb Pike (Route 202), King of Prussia, PA. Meeting begins promptly at 6:00 P.M. and concludes at 8:15 P.M.
The meeting is free, is open to the public, and the press is invited

The Kitchen Table Patriots
are proud to join with
The Philadelphia Loyal Opposition
and Eagle Forum in support of
Al Schmidt (Only) for City Commissioner on Nov. 8th!

October 2011
Dear Philadelphia Eagle,
You live in a spot where there will be an election this year on Tuesday, November 8 that could affect the national election next year in a big way. You will have the opportunity to vote in a special election that will have implications on every other office in the United States - from your local neighborhood to the White House.
This is the election for Philadelphia City Commissioner. Those are the officials who are in charge of running fair and honest elections in Philadelphia. You and I know that our candidates cannot win unless we have honest elections. For years, we've heard the same complaints about unfair elections, politicking inside the polls, voter intimidation, poll watchers denied access, and much more.
I urge you to vote for Al Schmidt for City Commissioner on Tuesday, November 8 because we know we can count on him to fight for fair and honest elections. Philadelphia has three Commissioners, but no more than two can belong to the same political party. That means two Democrats and one Republican will be elected.
I urge you to vote ONLY for Al Schmidt (Press #119) - even though your ballot instructions will probably say "vote for two." You are absolutely NOT required to "vote for two" - you have a right to vote for only one, and that is the only way to assure that Al Schmidt will be elected. Also, do NOT vote a straight Republican ticket because that will automatically cast your ballot for both Republican candidates, only one of whom can win. If you have any questions, call PA Eagle Forum President Ned Pfeifer, 412-973-0502.
Al Schmidt is eminently qualified to be a Philadelphia City Commissioner. He is a former Senior Analyst for the non-partisan U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) - the investigative arm of Congress. There, he conducted oversight of government agencies, programs, and policies to identify and eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement anywhere that federal taxpayer dollars are spent. After leaving GAO, Al ran for City Controller and earned a reputation as an outspoken advocate for good government.
Al Schmidt has the skills and commitment to clean up the City Commissioner's Office and give us honest elections in Philadelphia. This can be decisive in how Pennsylvania will go in the important 2012 elections, and maybe even how the U.S. will go.
I urge you to vote on Tuesday, November 8 for Al Schmidt for City Commissioner - and vote ONLY for Al Schmidt for City Commissioner. Press #119. This could be more important than any vote you cast next year.
Faithfully,
Phyllis Schlafly
P.S. Please tell ten of your friends to be sure to vote ONLY for Al Schmidt (Press #119) on Tuesday, November 8. This is a crucial election for Philadelphia, for Pennsylvania, and for America. |

I am reaching out to you in hopes of gaining your support. I have taken the liberty of attaching a PDF recounting a compelling story which I contributed to with the team at the Chester County Hero Fund (501c3).
For the last year, I have been training for the Marine Corps Marathon, which I will run on October the 30th (just shy of my 68th--birthday) in D.C.
I'm running to raise money to build an accessible home for Jay Raffetto a wounded Marine. Jay graduated from Conestoga H.S. with my daughter Jennifer in 2000. I always gave him positive encouragement through his parents about the virtues of military service. Jay became a medic with special operations (Force Recon, USMC) and unfortunately, last August he became a triple amputee-while on patrol in Afghanistan.
I'm asking for a donation to support his cause and I'm asking consideration for a Corporate Sponsorship as well---if possible. I think this is a compelling cause.
Please see attached PDF with instructions on the bottom of the sheet.
100% of your donation will go Jay and his wife Emily, Thanks in advance for your support of Jay, his family and our men and women in the Military.
Also please feel free to use this email and PDF to send to others you Feel might want to support this effort.
P.S. I know I can count on your help!

Welcome to Washington's Headquarters at the Moland House
1641 Old York Road, Hartsville, PA 18974
In the early evening of 10 August 1777, eleven thousand Continental and militia soldiers are marching up York Road towards the Cross Roads with Bristol Road [Hartsville, PA] on their way to Coryell's Ferry [New Hope, PA] to camp four miles across the Delaware River. General George Washington receives a dispatch from John Hancock, President of the Second Continental Congress, placing the 260-vessel British fleet, hauling 17,000 troops under General William Howe, fifty miles south of the Delaware Capes [May & Henelopen] on 7 August. Unsure and wary of Howe's intentions, Washington immediately halts his force to encamp around the bridge over the Little Neshaminy Creek in Warwick Township, Bucks County. Knowing the area and having ridden through only ten days earlier, he selects the substantial stone dwelling of Widow Moland as his Head Quarters on the farm north of the bridge.

Where: P J Ryan's, 231 Bridge Street, Phoenixville - downstairs private dining area. Natural disasters can strike at any time. Economic downturns can wipe out your savings, your retirement and your ability to support yourself. This session focuses on what you should do to protect your family in a financial or economic disaster. Will you have enough food, water and medicines? Can you survive without electricity and urban infrastructure until help arrives? Can you support your family if your job is outsourced or eliminated? This session will help you assess the risk and offers realistic suggestions to ensure you and your family are prepared for the challenges when faced with a physical disaster or economic setback. Gordon Smith retired from his international security firm last year to devote himself to the Tea Party movement. He is dedicated to the restoration of our country and protecting our freedoms. Thomas Jefferson: "Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers....a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."
But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it's been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

Help Prevent Voter Fraud ! !
Judical Watch is Demanding Answers Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:
 | "The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2 |
But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.
We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action? True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step. For more information email info@truethevote.org or go HERE to sign up now! |

2012 Presidential Candidate Selector or Obama, His Allies & Critics Matching Quiz
Politicians have already indicated their 2012 presidential aspirations. This matching quiz includes President Obama, top members of his administration, Obama's most vocal critics (Boehner, Cantor, etc.) and likely White House prospects (Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal, etc.). You may select a position for every issue, or just select issues important to you. The political figures' positions are based upon their voting records, special interest group ratings and their statements in the public record. In cases where there is no known public record or statement, these politicos are not given a score on that issue. We add candidates, revise their views and include new issues as they become known or change. Check back often for updates.

RedState Morning Briefing
For October 28, 2011
1. The Same Washington Post That Got Marco Rubio's Story Wrong, Attacks Him Again
Last week, the Washington Post attacked Marco Rubio for "misrepresenting" his family's story. The Post got called out by other newspapers for the Post's egregious truth stretching to make its story fit. In the quotes the Washington Post cited, the reporter misrepresented the context of Marco Rubio's remarks. It was true that Rubio had gotten some details wrong. But it was also very clear that they were the innocent mistakes of a son retelling his parents' story. It was also true the Washington Post got parts of its reporting wrong.
But the Washington Post has not stopped. Now the paper is back at it premising a new article on the last story without nothing the Washington Post itself got key elements of its story wrong. This time, the Washington Post wants to make the case that Marco Rubio could be a risky Vice Presidential pick for the GOP.
Seriously.
We have a President of the United States who, for twenty years, worshipped in Jeremiah Wright's church, had his house paid for by Tony Rezko, claimed his uncle freed Jews at Auschwitz, snorted cocaine, and got other key biographical details wrong and the Washington Post never seemed to think he was too risky.
2. Right Now It's The Message
I got emailed from a few people last night that I was rather harsh toward Governor Perry's campaign on CNN tonight. I was.
When Rick Perry unveiled his economic plan, he spent the better part of two days talking about Barack Obama's birth certificate.
Now, instead of moving back to the economic plan, we've moved on to talking about Rick Perry and debates.
Byron York makes a very persuasive case that Rick Perry is actually right on the debates. According to John King tonight on CNN, by the time we get to Iowa, there'll have been 21 debates - more than either 2004 for the Democrats or 2008 for both the Democrats and Republicans.
Remember as well that the calendar is more compressed now than when those debates were set up.
But the Perry team should not have raised the issue right now. It makes him look weak. We know he sucks in the debates. We know he wants out of the debates. That is precisely why he should not have raised it himself or had his communications director, Ray Sullivan, raise it.
It makes us focus on Perry's bad debate performances instead of finally, finally focusing on his economic plan and jobs plan.
The Perry campaign has a problem. It has nothing to do with bad debate performances. It has everything to do with a lack of message discipline. If they want to turn things around, they need to get on and stay on jobs.
3. Dems Dodge Questions On Discriminatory Union PLAs For DNC Convention
In February, when North Carolina was awarded the Democratic National Convention over forced-union states, we alerted you to the devil in the details of the DNC having its convention in a predominantly union-free state. At issue is something traditionally known as Project Labor Agreements that give work to unionized employers and, as well, discriminate against union-free workers. Now, that devil appears to be rearing its ugly head and Democrat mayor Anthony Foxx, who is running from Republican challenger Scott Stone, appears unwilling to give Charlotte residents a straight answer on how much work will go to unionized workers.
4. Ohio Democratic Party Targets Pro-SB5 Businesses
As Ohio's SB5 (collective bargaining reform) goes to a vote on November 8th, pressure is being ramped up in the final week and a half. According to the Columbus Dispatch, unions and their fellow reform opponents have bankrolled the We Are Ohio anti-SB5 campaign to the tune of $19,048,680, dwarfing the pro-reform Building A Better Ohio's $7.6 million.
Democrats and their union cronies have dominated Ohio for decades and the collective bargaining reforms signed into law earlier this year pose a very real threat to their continued base of power. As a result, the Democrats did something incredibly arrogant on Thursday afternoon when the official Twitter account for the Ohio Democratic Party released the names of several businesses that have contributed to SB5, then told their 4,000 followers to "contact them."

Pick a fight with a liberal on:
OVERPOPULATION. Scratch beneath the surface of a supposedly kindly, caring green liberal and what you often find underneath is a vicious Nazi eugenicist who believes, as the Club of Rome once put it, that "the common enemy of humanity is man." Greens think the teeming, pullulating masses of humankind-especially in the Third World-should be discouraged from breeding. Otherwise, they fear, scarce resources will be depleted and the planet swamped. To put these fears into perspective, quote this man: "Our teeming population is the strongest evidence our numbers are burdensome to the world, which can hardly support us from its natural elements. Our wants grow more and more keen and our complaints more bitter in all mouths, while nature fails in affording us our usual sustenance. In every deed, pestilence and famine and wars have to be regarded as a remedy for nations as the means of pruning the luxuriance of the human race." Paul Ehrlich in 1968? Al Gore last year? Nope. It was Tertullian, a Carthaginian priest in 210 AD when the world population was 250 million. It's now over 6.5 billion. We haven't been swamped yet, and chances are we won't ever be, because liberals forget that human beings can't be measured solely by consumption, but by their ingenuity and creativity, which help us to develop new resources, find new ways to deal with challenges, discover new ways to protect the environment, and, who knows, maybe in centuries to come even colonize space. Oh, yeah, I forgot: liberals hate "colonialism" too.

The White Aborigines of the Post-Racial Left
If you thought that political correctness was insane in the United States, take a long plane trip over to Melbourne, Australia, where Andrew Bolt, a columnist at the Herald Sun, has been sanctioned by a judge of the Federal Court of Australia for "insulting, humiliating and offending" that group known as "fair-skinned Aboriginal people". Who might you wonder are these "fair-skinned Aboriginal people"? They are said to come from the Hiberian isle, the plains of Alba, the cities of Albion, the Teutonic forests and even the Hebraic tribes. They boast many fascinating arts and crafts, such as writing dissertations on the structural thematics of metaphor in aboriginal music and receiving aboriginal scholarships to compensate for all the suffering inflicted upon them by the European settlers. The Federal Court decision creates a new protected class of people, "fair-skinned aboriginals", which is to say white people pretending to be black people are now protected by anti-discrimination laws from pesky newspaper columnists pointing out that they happen to have blond hair, German last names and no amount of kitschy native clothing and beads will change that. As the decision put it: "The members of the group referred to are fair skinned Aboriginal persons who, by a combination of descent, self-identification and communal recognition are, and are recognised as, Aboriginal persons." Which is a complex way of saying, "aim for the stars, push all the limits and if you want to be an Aborigine, there's nothing stopping you so long as you can claim a great-grandsire or dam who might have been aboriginal or just really tan." None of this foolishness would matter much in a society where people are judged by the content of their character, not by how many papers they can write on the cultural appropriation of the didgeridoo, but it matters quite a bit when society and government are set up to pay off a debt of guilty to a bunch of people because they were the first bunch of settlers, and they were the second bunch of settlers, and then members from the second bunch of settlers show up demanding to be cut in because even though they need to slather themselves in suntan lotion at the beach, they have decided to identify themselves as aborigines. It's an even bigger problem when anti-discrimination laws are wielded by the melanin challenged tribe to suppress free speech and silence anyone who points this out.

Guide for the Perplexed
Posted by Dr. Yasser Dasmabebi on Oct 26th, 2011
I have come to realize just how difficult it may be to decipher news about the Middle East, Islam, Israel, the Arab World, and all these powerful and explosive issues of our times for those who rely on such media stalwarts as The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the major television networks, cable news, etc. for their information. For example, how is a person to ascertain whether the slayer of a family is a terrorist or a militant or a gunman or an assailant or an activist or a freedom-fighter?
So, purely as a public service, I have organized the following glossary of the most pertinent terms and expressions, as typically used in the above-mentioned news sources. I hope, insha'allah, the reader will find it helpful to unravel the Gordian Knot of language that is today's (and yesterday's and tomorrow's) Middle East!
Dr. Yasser Dasmabebi holds the Edward Said-Noam Chomsky Linguistics Chair at Abdul Abulbul Amir University in Cairo.

Tunisia's Ghannouchi on the End of Israel - Martin Kramer (Facebook) Rashid Ghannouchi's "moderate" Nahdaparty is raking in the voters in the Tunisian elections. In May he said: "I bring glad tidings that the Arab region will get rid of the germ of Israel. Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, leader of the Hamas movement, once said that Israel would disappear before 2027. That date may be too far off; Israel may disappear before that." The writer is Senior Fellow at the Shalem Center in Jerusalem, and a Fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
Hamas Leader: The Day We Expel the Jews Is Drawing Near - Frank Crimi
- According to Hamas Leader Mahmoud al-Zahar, "Neither the liberation of the Gaza Strip nor the liberation of the West Bank or even Jerusalem will suffice us. Hamas will pursue the armed struggle until the liberation of all our lands. We don't recognize the State of Israel or its right to hold onto one inch of Palestine. Palestine is an Islamic land belonging to all the Muslims."
"We are no weaker or less honorable than the peoples that expelled and annihilated the Jews. The day we expel them is drawing near....We have learned the lesson - there is no place for you [Jews] among us, and you have no future among the nations of the world. You are headed to annihilation." During the Second Intifada from 2000-2004, Hamas and its allies launched 138 suicide attacks against Israelis, killing 319 Israeli soldiers and 745 civilians, and wounding 2,430 soldiers and 5,032 civilians. Saudi cleric offers cash for Israel soldier kidnap
10/26/2011
DUBAI - A prominent Saudi cleric has offered to pay $100,000 to any Palestinian who kidnaps an Israeli soldier, according to his Facebook page.
Awad al-Qarni said he had made the offer in response to a similar reward promised by an Israeli family for anyone who catches the person who killed one of its members in 1998, following the exchange this month of more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners for the captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
"The media reported the news of the Zionist occupiers paying a huge sum to anyone who killed the freed Palestinian prisoners," Qarni, who is well known in Saudi Arabia for his outspoken views but is not part of the official clerical establishment, said on his Facebook page.

The leadership of the Syrian revolution, or at least those recognized as such by the United States and the European Union, has released the names of 19 of the 29 members of the General Secretariat and five members of the Presidential Council. A lot of research should be done on the individuals, but let's do a quick ethnic and political analysis based on this information.
But first let me give you my analysis: I believe that the Turkish Islamist regime deliberately helped produce a Syrian leadership that is more Islamist and more Muslim Brotherhood-controlled than was necessary. Since Turkey's government was empowered to do this by the Obama administration, the White House is responsible for this extremely dangerous situation. It is a blunder or a betrayal - in effect, the motive and cause don't matter - of the greatest dimensions. The Obama administration may "only" have paved the way for the triumph of Islamist regimes in Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia - we don't yet know the final result - but it has been actively involved in helping promote an (avoidable) Islamist revolution in Syria.

Sbarro Bomber: "Why Should I Repent?"
by Gavriel Queenann Ahlam Tamimi, sentenced to 16 life sentences for her involvement in the "Sbarro" suicide bombing on 9 August 2001 in Jerusalem, says she had no regrets and stressed she would, given the opportunity, do it again. "It was a calculated act, performed with conviction and faith in Allah," Tamini said in an interview posted on the Hamas website. "Jihad warriors are always ready to die as martyrs, to be arrested - or to succeed. I managed to overcome the barrier of prison and was released. Why should I repent?" Of those terrorists who remain in prison after the Gilad Shalit deal, she said, "We left with our heads held high. All attempts to keep us in prison, and those who remain, will soon be forsaken." Tamimi, who was deported to Jordan upon her release as a part of a deal to exchange 1,027 terrorists for kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, added "resistance is the only way to liberate Palestine. Israel understands only the language of arms." . Tamimi was a 20-year old university student at the time of Sbarro bombing. She disguised herself as a Jewish tourist and escorted suicide bomber Izz al-Din Shuheil al-Masri to the restaurant in order to draw suspicion away from him. Obama Wants to Move the 'Hood into Your Neighborhood By Ben Johnson, The White House Watch
As part of its endless quest to fundamentally transform the United States, the Obama administration is laying the intellectual groundwork for a massive new government program: moving crime-prone tenants of public housing into middle- and upper middle-class neighborhoods in the name of improving their health.
Last Thursday, the New England Journal of Medicine published a multi-year study conducted on behalf of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) researching the impact of "housing mobility" on the health of those in public housing. The project, which tracked 4,500 "very low-income" families, found that allowing the poor to move from the projects to "low-poverty neighborhoods" decreased the incidence of both disorders and improved the families' overall health.
Upon hearing the results, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan....

Coptic Christians protest outside White House against violence in Egypt

View Photo Gallery - Hundreds gather to denounce a rising tide of violence against members of their faith in Egypt, including a bloody clash Oct. 9 between protesters and the Egyptian army that left 27 people dead.
Hoisting homemade wooden crosses and photographs of bodies they said were crushed by tanks, hundreds of Coptic Christians rallied Wednesday in front of the White House to protest rising violence against minority Christians in Egypt and to demand that the Obama administration pressure Cairo to protect their rights.
The demonstrators, mostly Egyptian immigrants who traveled in buses from as far as New York and Chicago, included black-robed Coptic orthodox priests and families who had lost relatives in recent violence in Egypt, including the New Year's Eve bombing of a church and a bloody clash Oct. 9 between protesters and army forces in Cairo that left 27 people dead.
"It is like a horrible nightmare. We watch on TV and see our people being run over by tanks," said Mary Wassef, 66, who took a bus with friends from her church in northern New Jersey. "This is my church and my homeland. But now they want to force all Christians to convert or leave. If you hang a cross in your car, they pull you out and smash you to pieces."
Christians in Egypt are a deeply rooted minority of about 10 million in a largely Muslim society of 81 million. Long-simmering tensions between the two groups have escalated since January, when a popular uprising in Cairo led to the fall of longtime ruler Hosni Mubarak but left the country in a state of political turmoil.
Many Christians in the Egyptian American diaspora of about half a million, scattered across a dozen states, have expressed concern that radical Islamist groups are seeking to dominate the post-revolutionary scene and to turn Egypt into a Sunni theocracy. Some placards at the rally Wednesday warned of an "Islamic jihad" against Christians.
The demonstrators also expressed fear that the Egyptian army, a longtime bulwark of Mubarak's power, is becoming a repressive force against Christians. Many held up bloody photos of crushed torsos and limbs, which they said had been deliberately run over by tanks Oct. 9. Hundreds chanted "shame on the army" and called for the ouster of its national commander, Field Marshal Mohammed Hussein Tantawi.
"We Christians have faced Islamic oppression for 1,400 years, but now it is getting much more ugly," said Ghada Nasr, 35, a small business owner from Newark, Del., whose parents live in Egypt. "The army should be protecting people, not crushing them. Our religion is peaceful, but it is time for us to act."
Traditionally, leaders of the Coptic church in Egypt have tried to avoid provoking Egyptian authorities. The rally Wednesday was peaceful, and protesters interspersed chants for justice with hymns calling for God's mercy in Arabic, English and ancient Coptic. Organizers said the presence of numerous senior Coptic priests - several gray-bearded, one in a wheelchair - had the blessing of their orthodox pope in Cairo.
"We need an Egyptian Martin Luther King to lead our people to freedom," said George Ibrahim, 66, a retired civil engineer who emigrated from Egypt in the 1940s and lives in Ashburn. Unlike Copts in Egypt, who have long been ostracized, many of those who came to the United States are well established, successful professionals. In the greater Washington area, many work for the federal government.
A major demand of the demonstrators was that the Obama administration, which has continued the long U.S. alliance with Egypt and provides it with hundreds of millions of dollars in financial aid each year, pressure Cairo by conditioning further assistance to improvements in human rights and religious freedom.
"If we are calling them an ally, then we should not be paying with U.S. taxpayers' money for bullets and weapons that are being used to oppress Christians," said Michael Ruzek, 30, a medical doctor from New Jersey who attended the rally. Protesters placed a row of black wooden coffins along the sidewalk in front of the White House.
An advocacy group called Coptic Solidarity, which helped organize the rally, also called for an impartial investigation into the Oct. 9 violence, prosecution of official perpetrators, and full enactment of a bill that Congress passed in July that would create a U.S. envoy to the Middle East for religious minorities.
The circumstances of the Oct. 9 clashes in Cairo, in which Christian and Muslim protesters were involved in hours of battles with police and troops, remain confused. The day after the incident, White House spokesman Jay Carney said that President Obama was "deeply concerned" about the violence and "believes that the rights of minorities, including Copts, must be respected," but he stopped short of blaming the government and called for "restraint on all sides."

Corbett Signed Law to Strengthen Teen Drivers
Earlier this week, Gov. Tom Corbett signed House Bill 9, "Lacey's Law," sponsored by Rep. Kathy Watson of Bucks County (144th District).
Lacey's Law was created to mandate that junior drivers have more practice time behind the wheel, and limit the number of passengers they may carry in their vehicles. A junior driver is defined as being between 16 and 18 years old. This bill was signed by the governor on Oct. 25th and will take effect on Dec. 24, 2011.
Changes for junior drivers: | | * | Before a driver's license is issued, the required supervised, behind-the-wheel training for permit holders under age 18 is increased from 50 to 65 hours. Ten of those hours must be done at nighttime and five of those hours must be done during poor weather conditions. | * | For the first six months after receiving a junior license, if the driver is under 18 he or she is not permitted for have more than one passenger under age 18 who is not an immediate family member (unless accompanied by a parent or guardian). | * | After six months, the driver may have up to three passengers under age 18 if they have not received any violations or been involved in an accident that is his/her fault. | * | Lack of seatbelt for drivers under 18 becomes a primary offense, so the driver can be pulled over for that violation alone, and could receive a $75 fine. In addition, all passengers under age 18 must be buckled. |

All types of small businesses qualify for funding, including manufacturers, retailers, service providers, mining businesses and agricultural outfits.
Costs incurred between Aug. 26 and Dec. 31, 2011, are eligible for grant consideration. Projects eligible for 50 percent reimbursement grants of up to $9,500 could include high-efficiency lighting systems, building insulation, air sealing, recycling and reuse systems, and new water-conservation technologies. Applications must be postmarked or hand delivered by 4 p.m. on Dec. 31.
Additional information and applications are available on DEP's website at www.dep.state.pa.us or by calling 717-772-8909.

Thomas J. Reese is a senior fellow at the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University, and a former editor of America, the national Catholic weekly magazine.
The Vatican released a document on the world economy on Monday that will cause heartburn in the Tea Party, but will be cheered by the folks occupying Wall Street.
This will surprise most Americans who think the pope is a Republican because he opposes abortion and gay marriage. But when it comes to economic justice, Pope Benedict XVI is to the left of President Obama. Heck, he is even to the left of Nancy Pelosi.

The Patriot's 2012 GOP Candidate Ratings
The Pros and Cons
"If men of wisdom and knowledge, of moderation and temperance, of patience, fortitude and perseverance, of sobriety and true republican simplicity of manners, of zeal for the honour of the Supreme Being and the welfare of the commonwealth; if men possessed of these other excellent qualities are chosen to fill the seats of government, we may expect that our affairs will rest on a solid and permanent foundation." --Samuel Adams, November 27, 1780
Barack Hussein Obama is in full campaign mode (not that he's been in any other mode since 2008). Summarizing his 2012 re-election bid at a recent Hollywood fundraiser, Obama said, "This election will not be as sexy as the first one. We've got to grind it out a little bit. We've got to grind it out. I'm going to keep on pushing."
The regrettable double entendres aside, what Obama was trying to say is, given the abject failures of his policies to restore our economy, his re-election campaign will be difficult. But make no mistake: Obama kept his promise about "fundamentally transforming the United States of America." He has broken the back of free enterprise and consequently, seeds of discontent are sprouting in urban centers across the nation in support of his vision for Democratic Socialism.
Of course, history records that the terminus of Socialist ideology, whether it be the Marxist, Nationalist or Democratic variety, is tyranny. Therefore, this election cycle is about much more than bantering back and forth on matters of policy. It is, at its core, about the future of Liberty defended by our Founders at the dawn of our Republic.
In 2010, the "Tea Party Movement," a term used to describe the national grassroots body of outspoken and articulate constitutional activists, emerged to restore a Republican majority in the House.
To put it simply, the Tea Party stopped Obama's agenda from moving forward; they did so by mobilizing a conservative electorate that, last November, put a congressional restraining order on this president and his destructive policies. The 2012 presidential and congressional elections, however, must build upon that resounding conservative victory in order to reverse the socialist agenda.
To that end, next year's presidential campaign will dominate the national debate and will ultimately determine whether Obama's failed statist propositions will be rejected and free enterprise restored.
The critical question for conservatives is, who best to lead that debate? In the interest of restoring free enterprise and our national economy, which in turn will provide the opportunity to further reinvigorate the principles of Essential Liberty, we offer the following "pro and con" assessment of the current field of GOP presidential candidates, each of whom will be assigned a "Patriot Rating."
Now, "pros" could be understood to mean "professionals" and "cons" could mean deceivers. In that context, there are indeed pro and con elements within some of the GOP candidates' platforms. However, our pro and con appraisals are in the context of exposing the good, bad and ugly of all candidates, as reflected by their records and platforms.
Our list of candidate pros and cons is compiled from responses to a questionnaire sent to our editors and members of our National Advisory Committee, and the responses posted are those which occurred most frequently.
Additionally, we have assigned all candidates a Patriot Rating based on comprehensive analysis of many factors. Among these are their record, experience, capability, character, leadership qualifications and, of course, a demonstrated ability to abide by their prescribed oath "to support and defend" our Constitution. We evaluate their record of defending Essential Liberty, and their support for restoration of constitutional limits upon government -- including the judiciary -- the promotion of free enterprise, national defense and traditional American values. The rating is from 1 to 10, the higher the better.
In short, our Patriot Rating reflects each candidate's ability to reignite the Conservative Revolution launched by Ronald Reagan in 1980. Notably, we do not rate candidates on "electability," as that is often a reflection of Leftmedia propaganda. Nor is a candidate's Patriot Rating based solely on the "pros and cons," which are just collected observations.
Many voters support candidates on the basis of one or two platform issues. However, our Patriot Rating is based upon a broad profile for each candidate, which is to say that if your favored candidate did not score as highly as you anticipated, it is likely because of platform issues or qualifications we assessed in addition to those on which you base your support.
If we could combine the best qualities of all candidates into one, the 2012 election would be won. Strategically, the number of constituencies represented by the GOP slate should coalesce, at the end of the primary, in support of one candidate. If that coalition holds, Obama will be defeated.
Suffice it to say that every GOP candidate has, in our assessment, more ability than Obama, who has yet to demonstrate any real skill beyond that of a smooth-talking "community organizer." (As one of our respondents noted, "If the choice was between Obama and a mushroom, I would choose the latter.")
Obama, however, controls a loyal constituency that will support him regardless of mitigating factors, and in the next election as with the last, his deceptive charisma will make up for his aptitude deficit. Those factors, combined with the unfortunate fact that GOP contenders continue to hack away at each other rather than at Obama, constitute Obama's greatest re-election assets.
The 2012 GOP candidates, in alphabetical order:
(NOTE: As additional information and platform positions are released, Patriot Ratings may change.)
Pros: High-energy; no-nonsense speaker; Tea Party; has a knack for distilling issues to what's most important to the average American; female; great family history; clearly socially conservative; Federalist; more articulate than Sarah Palin; principled stance on key issues.
Cons: No executive experience; limited business and leadership experience; does not look presidential; too easily stereotyped; already too many misstatements; no military service; doesn't appear ready for prime time; whiny & tinny.
Post your opinion of Bachmann's pros and cons.
Pros: Reagan-like from a policy standpoint; straight talker -- genuine Washington outsider; self-made man; lack of political experience; articulate and sensible tax reform and economic plan; former civilian employee of the United States Navy; principled common-sense conservative; believes in American exceptionalism; straight shooter, says it even if you don't like it; strong private sector business experience; black; understands the free market; compelling life story; good work ethic, education and integrity; consistent in his stances.
Cons: Lack of political experience (this cuts both ways); diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in 2006, now in remission; more novelty than substance; short on foreign policy knowledge or experience; campaign lacks organization; low name recognition; "sound bite deep" on many issues; no military service; not previously vetted.
Post your opinion of Cain's pros and cons.
Pros: Smarter than the rest of the slate, combined; incredibly articulate; straight up conservative with strong track record and leadership; demonstrated track record (as House Speaker); does not attack other GOP candidates; child of a career military family; an acute sense of humor; a keen sense of history; name recognition; can take Obama down with one hand in presidential debates; acts presidential; positions based on logic (his understanding of the issue), not expediency; ability to boil complex ideas down to simple core soundbites, but commands great understanding of complexities and details; Contract with America.
Cons: DC insider; notable marriage/moral peccadilloes; a lightning rod; list of political liabilities as long as list of career accomplishment; no military service; limited business experience; accepts anthropogenic global warming; comes across as a policy wonk.
Post your opinion of Gingrich's pros and cons.
Ron Paul -- Patriot Rating: 3
Pros: Strong constitutional advocate; articulate economic positions; energetic; energizes his adherents; served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force for five years; bold and brash; speaks his mind; intelligent; true libertarian.
Cons: His isolationist foreign policy is incredibly naďve and thus, dangerous; fails the "nut job" test with many voters; seems too singularly focused; comes off as a crank; too narrow a support base; name recognition negatives; perpetual presidential candidate; no clear expression of faith.
Post your opinion of Paul's pros and cons.
Rick Perry -- Patriot Rating: 6
Pros: Salt-of-the-earth family history; speaks from the heart; executive experience as governor of Texas; Air Force officer and aviator for five years; offered tangible tax reform plan, speaks his mind; strong platform and record of success; strong proponent for states' rights and limited central government; understands Social Security is a "Ponzi Scheme"; good family man, and is clear about his faith; good campaign organization and good fundraiser; pro-business; pro-gun; pro-life; not Ivy League.
Cons: Chaired Al Gore's 1988 presidential campaign (Ronald Reagan clearly articulated why he left the Democratic Party) disconcerting that Perry lacks deep conservative roots); worst debate skills ever witnessed; HPV vaccination executive mandate; support of Trans-TX corridor; weak immigration policy -- the Texas DREAM Act undermines his credibility on a key issue.
Post your opinion of Perry's pros and cons.
Pros: Executive experience as governor; strong appearance; quick on his feet; smooth talker; high profile with the public, stemming from his 2008 presidential candidacy; accomplished businessman; acts, speaks and looks presidential; good family man; appeals to centrists; deep pockets (personal and campaign); big-name supporters; campaign organization and experience; old enough to have gravitas, not old enough to look like John McCain; good speaker; great command of most issues.
Cons: Big government establishment Republican; RomneyCare and all associated baggage; mirrors Democrat tax policies; political inheritance as son of George Romney (former governor of Michigan and 1968 presidential candidate); no military service; high-profile flip-flops on key conservative issues (gun control, global warming, abortion, homosexual "unions," health care); Massachusetts moderate; left of George W. Bush.
Post your opinion of Romney's pros and cons.
Pros: Solid conservative; articulate on conservative positions; well-versed on both foreign and domestic policy; principled; good family man; passionate and genuine; energetic; not much to say about him.
Cons: Senate "loser" baggage; endorsed and actively campaigned for the Turncoat Ghost, Arlen Specter, over Pat Toomey in 2004; no military service.

Morning Bell: What is the American Idea?
What is the American idea? That all depends on whom you ask. According to President Barack Obama, it's the notion that the federal government is the answer to America's problems, and that through its intervention-by sheer force of spending-it can create a brighter future for all Americans.
There's a different view, though, that has again found its voice in the past year. It's the idea that America is at its best when its people are allowed to be free and produce, not thanks to the government or even in spite of it, but on their own merit and initiative. Yesterday, those two competing visions were on display-the former delivered in Denver by President Obama, and the latter in Washington at The Heritage Foundation by House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI).

October 27, 2011 No Man is an Island: Why Individualism Can't Sustain Freedom
Is individualism adequate to sustain liberty and rein in government? This issue surfaced during the Republican primary debate last week in Las Vegas.
"This country has always put people in groups" and treated them accordingly, said Representative Ron Paul (R-TX). America needs to move away from this kind of "group mentality," he says, toward a more individualistic perspective: "We need to see everybody as an individual. And to me, seeing everybody as an individual means their liberties are protected as individuals."
While not disagreeing with the fact that government should protect the rights of individuals, former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) took issue with Paul's implication that "the country is founded on the individual." Santorum argued, "The basic building block of a society is not an individual. It's the family."
It's true that many rights belong to citizens as individuals. People don't have the right to life and liberty, for example, only if they belong to some privileged group. Rather, God has endowed these rights to every single person as a unique individual with value and dignity.
But to leave the impression that rights-bearing individuals are islands unto themselves would be a mistake. That notion isn't true to who we are as people, and it can actually lead to bigger government.
Everyone exists in some form of relationship to others. In fact, we become who we are-we develop our own unique habits and views-in the context of these relationships. We need to think of ourselves and others not merely as self-standing individuals but as persons in community.
And the most basic form of community is the family. Families and other community institutions are essential to human well-being. It's in these local forms of association that we learn not only to respect rights but also to exercise responsibilities to others.
If we seek to restore limited government, it's important not to overlook the fact that much of our flourishing lies in the kinds of relationships fostered in civil society.
We should protect the rights of every single citizen-every "individual," if you will. To achieve this goal, though, we have to see and treat the "rights-bearer" for what he or she truly is: a social being, a member of various communities and forms of association. That means taking families and faith communities more seriously when it comes to policy decisions.

Immediate Medicare Reforms Could Slash the Nation's Debt When it comes to the super-committee's duty to reform Medicare, you'll likely to hear the same tired and unsuccessful methods for lowering Medicare's soaring costs: raising taxes, manipulating payment formulas, or making even deeper payment cuts to doctors and hospitals.
The best way to reform Medicare is transform it into a premium-support program, which provides a defined contribution to seniors' chosen health plans, which include a variety of private plans as well as traditional Medicare fee-for-service. This approach - based on injecting consumer choice and competition into Medicare - has a long history of bipartisan support, going back to the early 1980s.
Congress could adopt this approach through a two-stage, ten-year structural reform, which the Heritage Foundation outlined in its long-term deficit plan, "Saving the American Dream." When compared with the Congressional Budget Office's baseline, Heritage's two-stage Medicare reform plan would result in $9.4 trillion in savings by 2035.
During the initial five-year transition period, Congress could make immediate changes to help secure the program's fiscal solvency. Calculations from Heritage's Center for Data Analysis show the initial reforms would result in nearly $299 billion in savings. These savings could eliminate shortfalls in the Hospital Insurance (HI) trust fund - which CBO estimates to go broke by 2020-and "fix" the Medicare physician payment formula, which threatens a 30 percent payment cut next year to doctors who see Medicare patients.
The Heritage Foundation's Bob Moffit outlines what Congress could do right now in his column at National Review Online.

Two Cheers for Proposed Labor, Health, Education Appropriations
By James Sherk and Patrick Louis Knudsen October 13, 2011
House appropriators deserve two cheers for their recently released bill funding the Departments of Labor (DOL), Health and Human Services, Education, and related agencies for fiscal year (FY) 2012.[1] Disappointingly, the legislation only slightly reduces federal spending. Nevertheless, its policy riders take important steps in the right direction. The legislation blocks funding for many harmful regulatory proposals that discourage business expansion. It de-funds the National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) attempts to push workers into unions, large portions of Obamacare, and the sea of red tape rising from the DOL. Cutting funds for these harmful initiatives will encourage employers to expand and hire. Spending Levels

Herman Cain knows the value of a dollar, whether his or a contributors!
I have to laugh at all these Main Stream Media yokels and establishment political dinosaurs, working from an outdated script, claiming Herman Cain can't win because as his opponents are doing, he hasn't desperately wasted millions of dollars in upcoming Republican primary states.

A Balanced Budget Amendment Should Make Tax & Debt Increases Difficult
As a member of the Conservative Action Project, CEO Susan Carleson and leaders of 28 other organizations, representing a broad cross section of the conservative movement, are united in supporting a Balanced Budget Amendment that actually reins in national spending and increasing our national debt - without raising taxes.
MEMO FOR THE MOVEMENT: A Balanced Budget Amendment - in addition to balancing the budget - should make it difficult to raise taxes, tough to increase the debt, and prohibit any court from ordering a tax increase or deciding budget priorities. "I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution. I would be willing to depend on that alone for the reduction of the administration of our government; I mean an additional article taking from the Federal Government the power of borrowing." Thomas Jefferson, 1798 RE: In accordance with the Budget Control Act of 2011, sometime between October 1 and December 31, 2011 both houses of Congress must vote on a balanced budget amendment (BBA) to the U.S. Constitution. It is important that any such amendment must protect taxpayers by not forcing automatic tax increases to keep revenues in line with rising expenditures. Our fiscal problems are caused not by under taxation--but by over-spending.

The Left's War on Legal Immigration and Voter Integrity
This column by ACRU Senior Fellow Robert Knight was published October 24, 2011 in The Washington Times.
On Oct. 14, a federal judge blocked key portions of Alabama's new immigration law after several groups, including the Obama Justice Department and the ACLU, asked for an injunction. The Justice Department claims that states that assist in enforcing federal immigration laws are violating the Constitutional separation of powers. Really? If that's so, I wonder if state police in Alabama are barred from arresting someone trying to pass counterfeit $100 bills, since it's federal currency. Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution gives Congress the power "to provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States." It doesn't say anything about state troopers. Likewise, Article I, Sec. 8 of the Constitution authorizes Congress "to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization." State police arresting illegal aliens has nothing to do with deciding who can be naturalized.

Not-So-Free Speech in New Jersey
This column by ACRU Senior Legal Analyst Jan LaRue was published October 22, 2011 on the American Thinker website.
Who can say "gay" isn't okay in New Jersey? Judging by Gov. Chris Christie's actions, teachers can't. Christie told CNN's Piers Morgan on June 15 that he doesn't think homosexuality is a sin even though his religion does. To be sure that the citizens of New Jersey are aware of Christie's beliefs, the interview and transcript are posted on the official New Jersey website. Okay, that's his opinion. But read on. New Jersey high school teacher Viki Knox may have been inspired by Christie's comments to think that it was okay for a New Jersey public employee to express an opinion about homosexuality, as if the First Amendment is alive and well in New Jersey. Knox believes that homosexuality is a sin. She posted her belief -- not on an official school web site, but on her personal Facebook page. The Union High School District is investigating Knox to determine if she violated school policies.

Millions of Dollars Support Political Consultants & Big Media To Keep E-Verify, Other Reforms Out of Public Debate
We Need Donations from just 1% of our Members to Beat Them & Keep the Politicians Focused on Immigration
If You Have Never Donated to Help Pay for Seven Million Faxes a Year, Would You Consider It Today?
I hope you're as excited as I am that NumbersUSA's many forms of grassroots mobilization, advertising, and personal staff contacts have moved immigration onto the main stage of presidential debates and media discussions this fall.
As a result, voters who are concerned about immigration can make a more informed choice for President. And the attention paid to immigration is also helping several strong enforcement measures like E-Verify work their way through Congress.
That is quite an accomplishment. National political consultants have advised candidates and congressional leaders to stay away from immigration issues entirely. Big foundations have put tens of millions of dollars into consulting firms to ensure that the mainstream media bash every effort to reduce foreign-labor competition.
But our side is holding our own in this fight. Pressure from NumbersUSA and our 1 million members like you have forced candidates to take positions on national mandatory E-Verify, cutting incentives for illegal immigration, and building more fencing along the southern border. Our side can make this kind of progress because our members step up to the plate each month and provide the minimum amount of donations that we need to sustain our efforts in this battle.
NumbersUSA needs ONE PERCENT of you in any given month to send us 10, 25 or 50 dollars. That's all we need to fight back against the millions being spent by the open-borders forces.
But every month, we have to raise that money. And this month, we're behind. With only a few days left to go in October, we are far below halfway to our 1 percent minimum of participation.
NumbersUSA Action's internet mobilization system of email, facebook and twitter alerts, of free on-line faxing and of grassroots lobbying of all kinds is supported 100% by small donors (although we would be ecstatic to get our first non-tax-deductible donation of several thousand dollars from a wealthy donor). It is the $10, $25, $50 and $100 donations from regular citizens that keep NumbersUSA ready every month to meet every challenge.
But the real miracle of NumbersUSA is the way we turn a relatively small amount of money into such huge dividends. The secret ingredient is that the voluntary efforts of citizens like you--using the tools paid by the small donations from citizens like you--create outcomes that often beat the other side even though it often out-spends us fifty to one.
If you haven't pitched a few bucks into the NumbersUSA collection plate for awhile, this would be a great time to do so. Thanks to all of you who have voluntarily provided the finances that have made possible the political phenomenon that is NumbersUSA.
Please stand with us today. There are four ways to give:
1) On-line credit card (we take all major cards).
2) Give by PayPal.
3) Check -- see the instructions and a form to print out and send with your check.
4) Call (877) 885-7733 to arrange a wire transfer, stock donation, or to make a credit card donation over the phone. If our office is closed, please leave the time and your phone number and we will call back.
Thanks, Roy Beck NumbersUSA President & CEO

Try to imagine a time and place in America where an unelected, albeit powerful, government insider unilaterally announces that the law of land is going to be suspended, and replaced with something, well, something else - something that looks a heck of a lot like a plan recently rejected by Congress.
Initial reaction to the announcement (which is actually made in an internal memo), is disbelief and outrage: "You can't just change the law" cry the advocates for open and transparent government "because you don't like it."
To which the powerful government insider and his political masters reply: "Just watch us - we are using our discretion!"
Hard to believe? Yes. But this is precisely what has happened in recent months - ever since June 17 - when the Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) declared that deportation laws for illegal aliens will - effectively immediately - no longer be enforced, except in extreme cases where the potential deportee is a violent criminal or a potential terrorist.
Under the rubric of "prosecutorial discretion" ICE's head honcho has effectively managed to implement the provisions of a bill that was defeated by Congress last year calling for "amnesty" for various categories of illegal aliens.
Indeed, the Morton memo, lays out entire categories of illegal aliens (as opposed to individuals) against whom ICE will simply not to apply laws as they were written by Congress.
According to the memo, "ICE officers, agents and attorneys should consider all relevant factors, including, but not limited to" 19 specific categories of deportable aliens. Among the factors ICE personnel are instructed to consider are:
- The length of an individual's presence in the United States.
- Potential eligibility for the DREAM Act or other proposed amnesty programs, or other relief from deportation.
- Lack of a criminal record.
- Ties to the community.
- Relationship to a legal permanent resident or a U.S. citizen.
- Age, with particular consideration given to minors and the elderly.
What's more, there is absolutely no provision for independent monitoring or any other mechanism to hold ICE responsible. The result? Non-criminal illegal aliens will simply be permitted to remain in the country and work here illegally, without fear of removal.
The interests of the United States of America, it seems to me, is not being well served by this kind of law-making by memo! If, like me, you are outraged that the administration is refusing to carry out its responsibilities to enforce most immigration laws, please help FAIR get out our message: Non-enforcement unacceptable.
A donation $20 or $30 will go a long way to help us promote public understanding and critical thinking about the miscarriage of American justice by immigration officials.
Please give now! It is fast and convenient to make a one-time gift to FAIR or a specify a monthly amount. Remember, without your help, we cannot be effective.

Thursday, October 27, 2011 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer Obama's Malaise Speech Obama's presidency resembles Jimmy Carter's more every day. The latest example came Tuesday at a San Francisco fundraiser when Obama chided the American people, saying, "We have lost our ambition, our imagination, and our willingness to do the things that built the Golden Gate Bridge." Every time Obama goes to "San Fran," he lets his guard down and says what he really believes about the country that elected him. What is it about San Francisco that makes Obama run down his country? It was in front of a San Francisco audience that Obama made his infamous quip about bitter middle Americans clinging to their guns and religion. Whether it was Carter in 1979 or Obama now, America doesn't need a president whose first instinct is to blame others for his own failures. Obama is just plain wrong. We couldn't easily build the Golden Gate Bridge today because there would be layer upon of layer of bureaucratic red tape standing in the way. Then there would be environmental impact studies that would take years. If you got past all of that, you might face lawsuits from liberals eager to protect the polka-dotted blueberry river flea that only mates in odd numbered years in the precise location where the bridge is to be built. Other lefties would object, claiming that a bridge only continues our dependence on cars and fossil fuels. And on and on it would go. We haven't lost our ambition; we have been beaten down by the political left. Obama has the audacity to lecture us about losing our imagination and willingness to do big things when he is the one who has slashed NASA's budget. In fact, there are reports today that he plans to zero out funding for all planetary exploration. Ronald Reagan never ran down America as Obama routinely does. He had an infectious love for this country. He believed America was a "shining city upon a hill," a blessed nation that had a rendezvous with destiny. Yes, America has faced tough times. But we got through them -- and not because we were soft or lacked imagination. If anything, it is Big Government, which the left constantly turns to, which lacks imagination, stifles innovation and causes people to go soft. I don't know about you, but I can't wait for November 2012! Advantage Romney New CNN/Time polls of the early voting states have good news for former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Here's how they break down by state:
- Iowa: Romney 24%, Cain 21%, Paul 12%, Gingrich and Perry at 10%. No other candidate was in double digits.
- New Hampshire: Romney 40%, Cain 13%, Paul 12%.
- South Carolina: Romney 25%, Cain 23%, Paul 12%, Perry 11%.
- Florida: Romney 30%, Cain 18%, Gingrich and Perry 9%.
Why is this important? While national polls show Herman Cain leading the GOP primary contest, the race won't be decided in a single national primary. It will be decided in state-by-state elections, beginning with Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida. With each victory, the winner -- and perhaps the second and third place finishers -- builds momentum. And as their losses mount and the money dries up, lower tier candidates quickly start dropping out. Based on these latest big media polls, Romney appears to have the inside track for now, with Herman Cain emerging as the most likely challenger. Even though the vast majority of GOP primary voters are backing other candidates, as long as the field remains divided, it's advantage Romney. However, another recent poll found that 80% of Republican voters also say they are not firmly committed to anyone! Yesterday I was at a meeting with lots of conservative insiders. For many, Romney was not their first choice, but there was a lot of talk about a hypothetical Romney/Rubio ticket. (Coincidentally, the Washington Post today published its second hit piece on Sen. Marco Rubio in less than a week.) What do you think? I'm particularly interested in your feedback, especially if Romney is not your first choice. Would adding Rubio to the ticket make you more or less comfortable with Romney? Use this link to respond. Liberal Media Distortions Here are two examples of how the media and liberals are distorting the facts to confuse voters and portray conservatives negatively. Consider this headline from the front page of today's Washington Post: "Democrats Make Offer: $3 Trillion In Cuts." The average person is going to see that headline and think, "Hey, Democrats want to cut $3 trillion in spending." It certainly got my attention. But the headline is deliberately misleading. As we reported yesterday, Democrats on the deficit reduction super committee are demanding massive tax increases. As the Post eventually explains, Democrats are proposing $3 trillion in deficit reduction with at least $1.3 trillion coming from higher taxes. But as Rep. Paul Ryan noted this morning, this is in addition to the massive tax increases already baked into ObamaCare and other tax hikes scheduled for January 1, 2013. Here's the second example. In their desperation to retake the House, Democrats and the media know that Congress' approval rating is in the tank. So Obama and his liberal allies are increasingly referring to the "Republican Congress." There is no Republican Congress -- they only control the House. Democrats, under Harry Reid, control the Senate. Liberals and media are trying to tar all Republicans with Congress' unpopularity. Moreover, it is also hard for Obama to run against a "Do-Nothing" Congress when his party controls half of it! Is The House At Risk? Democrats are desperate to make Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House once again, and they think they can pull it off. Their strategy begins by targeting 19 GOP-held House seats that voted for Obama in 2008 and John Kerry in 2004. One these "Obama/Kerry Republicans" is conservative hero Allen West in FL-22. After that, Democrats are focused on 43 districts that voted for Obama, but backed George W. Bush in 2004. This gives Pelosi 62 targets -- and she only needs to win 25. A left-leaning polling firm just completed surveys in 12 GOP-held districts and the results are worrisome. When voters were asked if they would "like to reelect" their current representative, the results ranged from a low of 33% to a high of 44%, which suggests that all 12 incumbents would likely lose if the elections were held today. Let me add this caveat: This was a liberal poll and 9 of the 12 districts polled were in the liberal states of California and Illinois. That said, no one should fool themselves into thinking that 2012 will be a repeat of 2010. The greater danger is that it looks more like 2008, when Democrats ran the tables and captured all three branches of government. I'm not predicting a disaster at the ballot box, but we know this much: Obama's reelection campaign will spend $1 billion to boost turnout among liberal voters. Conservatives who narrowly won in marginal districts last year are vulnerable next year. And especially so if the redistricting process went poorly in their states. Here's my bottom line: As I have said before, complacency is our worst enemy. Everything is at stake in 2012. I don't want to see Barack Obama narrowly reelected and Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House again because conservatives took the elections for granted. I want to see Obama defeated in a landslide, our House majority expanded and Harry Reid evicted from the Senate Majority Leader's office because every conservative worked his heart out to save our country!

News from The Hill:
Obama administration partially approves massive Medicaid cuts requested by California
By Julian Pecquet
The Obama administration on Thursday approved hundreds of millions of dollars of cuts to California's Medicaid program that the state had requested to shore up its dismal finances. Gov. Jerry Brown (D-Calif.) this summer requested the authority to slash Medicaid payments to providers by 10 percent in order to save $623 million this year and next. Cindy Mann, the director of the federal Center for Medicaid and State Operations, said Thursday that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has partially approved the request while rejecting cuts that would affect beneficiaries' access to care. Team Lowey Squashes Chelsea Clinton Story (Updated x 4: Now With More Squashing)
BY Celeste Katz
NY-18 Rep. Nita Lowey's office says it's not true she's leaving the office she won in 1988 to pave the way for a Chelsea Clinton bid for Congress.
A New Rochelle blog, Talk of the Sound, ran a story this afternoon which said, in part, that "Clinton has been approached by "the right people" in the New York Democratic Party, according to one source in Albany. While no decision has been made, Clinton is said to be "actively considering" a Congressional run from New York State in 2012.
UPDATE: "This is 100% false. She is not running for Congress in the 18th District or any other," said Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna.
"The plan is to identify an open seat for Clinton in or around New York City where she currently resides with her husband, Marc Mezvinsky," the blog item continues.
"While no specific district has been determined, New York City and Westchester are said to be the focus with New York's 18th District considered a strong possibility. The 18th encompasses much of Westchester County, just south of where her parents have maintained a home for the past 12 years."

Stuff You Can't Make Up

Busy day-and week-for me. Subbing for Bill Bennett this morning on the radio was fun, but three hours behind the mike is surprisingly tiring. I don't know how Bill and the rest of our radio heroes do this day after day, week after week. My flight out to California at noon got bollixed up, so I've postponed my trip to tomorrow. Lots of blogging to catch up on-I've got lots of items stacking up in my Power Line to-do folder. I'll try to get to more of them today.
But in the "you-can't-make-this-stuff-up" department, driving home I flipped over to WMAL, Washington's biggest talk station, where the news announcer relayed the finding from Amy Winehouse's autopsy that she died from massive alcohol poisoning. To find out more, he said, turn to our station's website, wmal.com and click on "the buzz." The buzz? Really? Couldn't they find a way to put this story somewhere else on their site?
A Dissenting Note on the Iraqi Troop Withdrawal
Posted: 26 Oct 2011 10:55 AM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
A long-time reader writes:
I disagree with John's view on President Obama's decision to exit Iraq. John argues that "the U.S. has done everything reasonably possible to give Iraqis a chance. At this point, the future is up to them."
It's difficult to argue with this sentiment, but I view the situation in more pragmatic terms. For me, the relevant question is whether a U.S. withdrawal appreciably increases the likelihood of very bad outcomes in Iraq. I believe the answer is yes. And if, for example, our withdrawal leads to a substantial deterioration in Iraq's security and/or a significant increase in Iran's ability to control events there, then it will not be true that the U.S. did everything reasonably possible to give Iraqis a chance. Rather, the U.S. will have eschewed a relatively low cost way of helping Iraq secure its future.

Rick Perry: Not Ready For Prime Time
Posted: 26 Oct 2011 10:48 AM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
Yesterday Rick Perry made the astonishing claim that it was a mistake for him to participate in this year's GOP presidential debates: "These debates are set up for nothing more than to tear down the candidates. It's pretty hard to be able to sit and lay out your ideas and your concepts with a one-minute response," the Texas governor told Fox News's Bill O'Reilly. "So, you know, if there was a mistake made, it was probably ever doing one of the [debates], when all they're interested in is stirring up between the candidates instead of really talking about the issues that are important to the American people."

Send in the clowns
Posted: 26 Oct 2011 05:14 AM PDT
(Scott Johnson)
I probably made a mistake yesterday in singling out Mitt Romney for criticism as a GOP presidential candidate. He has become a caricature of a certain kind of candidate, but we seem to be going through the Send in the Clowns phase of the contest for the nomination.
1. Rick Perry: Jennifer Rubin has been roasting Perry for his assorted flops and failings. She declared yesterday "A day down the drain for Rick Perry." Perry took a detour down the birther rabbit hole. Something's happening here...
2. Herman Cain: Prolife or not prochoice? Jeffrey Anderson considers the evidence. To Mr. Cain, it's a trick question. If Mr. Cain is our nominee, every unscripted encounter with a reporter threatens to be a thrill a minute experience. But shouldn't he have a handle on the question of abortion at this point?
3. Michele Bachmann: Michele's New Hampshire staff has departed en masse. In my opinion, it's time to come home and nail down her congressional seat if she is still interested in it.
4. Jon Huntsman: His constituency as a presidential candidate is somewhere other than in the Republican Party.
5. Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich: Like Grant in Galena, they are biding their time. Each is waiting to become the not-Romney candidate of choice. It might happen!
6. Ron Paul: I can only repeat myself. Can we trade him to the Democrats for a player to be named later? He would make a great consultant to Dennis Kucinich on foreign policy.
It is always dangerous to fall in love with a politician, but the current crop has made it too damn easy to avoid this pitfall. Bobby Jindal, anyone?
UPDATE: John Podhoretz is thinking along the same lines. He cites additional evidence of unseriousness among the GOP field.

Susan's Paul Ryan Medicare Pamphlet - please print this and give it to your contacts
SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
- maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
- provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
- Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
- If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
- And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.
