 | Wake Up America - Jon McNaughton | We are enslaved to our debt. Wake up, America! Before it is too late...
Every man, woman and child in America is enslaved to the national debt. As an artist, I have painted my vision of the dire circumstances that surround us. Now, more than ever, each American must make a choice: we must unlock the shackles that enslave us, or will we lose our freedom. It is my hope and prayer that America will "wake up" before it is too late.
Those who are familiar with my work know that I like to use symbolism and metaphor to engage the viewer. See if you can find and decipher the many symbols in this image by visiting http://www.jonmcnaughton.com
In the painting I have intentionally hidden six keys that represent solutions that will release us from the chains of economic and political bondage. Find these keys and share them with as many Americans as you can. If we don't "wake up" future generations may not know what it means to be free.
-Jon McNaughton, political artist
A Quote From 1944: |
Please call the Senators below and ask them to vote NO on SB1

SCHOOL CHOICE VOTE SET FOR WEDNESDAY IN SENATE
Amazing what 7 million dollars buys you these days.
The Senate Education Committee will be reviewing SB1 on Tuesday, October 25th, tomorrow and potentially offering amendments. Then the Senate is poised to vote on Wednesday, October 26th.
So, under the cover of darkness, the bill will be out of committee with amendments and give the public absolutely no opportunity to vet these changes. UNITEPA and the Coalition for Real School Choice worked diligently over the passed year to push for the necessary changes that would make a "school choice" bill exactly that - "a school choice" bill, unlike SB1 which is pure entitlement and a gift to the welfare state. We were able to put the breaks on SB1 several months ago but it appears that Governor Corbett has decided to turn his back on the 'working poor' and middle income families. The Coalition has always supported Real School Choice, where every child would have academic freedom via Education Savings Accounts, The Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) including HB1330, and Individual Tax Credits. At a minimum, we have always supported equal assistance to rescue every child attending a failing school (HB 1678), not just those that qualify for a free lunch. As it stands, if you attend a failing school and you do not qualify for a free lunch, you will remain in that failing school by default.
MAJOR ISSUES WITH SB1
- SB1 voucher amounts vary by thousands of dollars depending on the school district.
- SB1 is income based and does not include the working poor and middle income.
- SB1 does not give every parent school choice (SB1 supporters are lying).
| CALL THESE LEGISLATORS and ASK FOR A VOTE OF "NO" ON SB1. We cannot imagine any significant changes to come out of the Education Committee that would possibly help the working poor or middle class. We hope that we're wrong but Secretary Tomalis ensured the Coalition that "we would not be happy" in the fall.

I urge you to stand with me and co-sponsor my new legislation, "American and Pennsylvania Laws for Pennsylvania Courts." This legislation protects the individual constitutional rights of the people of Pennsylvania from the incursion of foreign laws, in cases in which the application of a foreign law or foreign legal doctrine would violate someone's constitutional rights. CALLING ALL PATRIOTS - PLEASE SEE MESSAGE BELOW AND PLEASE MAKE THESE CALLS!!!!
PHONE LIST AND TALKING POINTS - HB 934 VOTER ID
PASSED BY THE HOUSE, STUCK IN THE SENATE!!
IT IS SITTING IN THE STATE GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE
WE HAVE A REPUBLICAN SENATE, A REPUBLICAN HOUSE, AND A REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR BUT NOTHING MUCH IS GETTING DONE. WHY??
VOTER ID WILL ASSURE THAT YOUR VOTE WILL COUNT AND HELP ELIMINATE MULTIPLE VOTES, DEAD PEOPLE VOTING, AND OTHER ILLEGAL VOTING. 14 OTHER STATES HAVE PHOTO VOTER ID AND 14 STATES HAVE VOTER ID (NO PHOTO). WE KNOW THAT IN BOTH GEORGIA AND ALABAMA VOTER PARTICIPATION INCREASED SINCE PHOTO VOTER ID PASSED. WE ARE ONE OF THE ONLY DEMOCRACIES IN THE WORLD WITH NO UNIFORMLY REQUIRED VOTER ID. THE UNIONS DO NOT WANT IT AND THE ACLU DOES NOT WANT IT. YOU HAVE TO ASK YOURSELF WHY WOULD ANYONE NOT WANT VOTER ID?
EVERY ILLEGAL VOTE STEALS THE VOTE OF A LEGITIMATE VOTER.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE ALL CALL THESE KEY SENATORS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK EVERY WEEK. PUT THE PRESSURE ON TO PASS IT!!

The Kitchen Table Patriots
are proud to join with
The Philadelphia Loyal Opposition
and Eagle Forum in support of
Al Schmidt (Only) for City Commissioner on Nov. 8th!

October 2011
Dear Philadelphia Eagle,
You live in a spot where there will be an election this year on Tuesday, November 8 that could affect the national election next year in a big way. You will have the opportunity to vote in a special election that will have implications on every other office in the United States - from your local neighborhood to the White House.
This is the election for Philadelphia City Commissioner. Those are the officials who are in charge of running fair and honest elections in Philadelphia. You and I know that our candidates cannot win unless we have honest elections. For years, we've heard the same complaints about unfair elections, politicking inside the polls, voter intimidation, poll watchers denied access, and much more.
I urge you to vote for Al Schmidt for City Commissioner on Tuesday, November 8 because we know we can count on him to fight for fair and honest elections. Philadelphia has three Commissioners, but no more than two can belong to the same political party. That means two Democrats and one Republican will be elected.
I urge you to vote ONLY for Al Schmidt (Press #119) - even though your ballot instructions will probably say "vote for two." You are absolutely NOT required to "vote for two" - you have a right to vote for only one, and that is the only way to assure that Al Schmidt will be elected. Also, do NOT vote a straight Republican ticket because that will automatically cast your ballot for both Republican candidates, only one of whom can win. If you have any questions, call PA Eagle Forum President Ned Pfeifer, 412-973-0502.
Al Schmidt is eminently qualified to be a Philadelphia City Commissioner. He is a former Senior Analyst for the non-partisan U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) - the investigative arm of Congress. There, he conducted oversight of government agencies, programs, and policies to identify and eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement anywhere that federal taxpayer dollars are spent. After leaving GAO, Al ran for City Controller and earned a reputation as an outspoken advocate for good government.
Al Schmidt has the skills and commitment to clean up the City Commissioner's Office and give us honest elections in Philadelphia. This can be decisive in how Pennsylvania will go in the important 2012 elections, and maybe even how the U.S. will go.
I urge you to vote on Tuesday, November 8 for Al Schmidt for City Commissioner - and vote ONLY for Al Schmidt for City Commissioner. Press #119. This could be more important than any vote you cast next year.
Faithfully,
Phyllis Schlafly
P.S. Please tell ten of your friends to be sure to vote ONLY for Al Schmidt (Press #119) on Tuesday, November 8. This is a crucial election for Philadelphia, for Pennsylvania, and for America. |

I am reaching out to you in hopes of gaining your support. I have taken the liberty of attaching a PDF recounting a compelling story which I contributed to with the team at the Chester County Hero Fund (501c3).
For the last year, I have been training for the Marine Corps Marathon, which I will run on October the 30th (just shy of my 68th--birthday) in D.C.
I'm running to raise money to build an accessible home for Jay Raffetto a wounded Marine. Jay graduated from Conestoga H.S. with my daughter Jennifer in 2000. I always gave him positive encouragement through his parents about the virtues of military service. Jay became a medic with special operations (Force Recon, USMC) and unfortunately, last August he became a triple amputee-while on patrol in Afghanistan.
I'm asking for a donation to support his cause and I'm asking consideration for a Corporate Sponsorship as well---if possible. I think this is a compelling cause.
Please see attached PDF with instructions on the bottom of the sheet.
100% of your donation will go Jay and his wife Emily, Thanks in advance for your support of Jay, his family and our men and women in the Military.
Also please feel free to use this email and PDF to send to others you Feel might want to support this effort.
P.S. I know I can count on your help!

Welcome to Washington's Headquarters at the Moland House
1641 Old York Road, Hartsville, PA 18974
In the early evening of 10 August 1777, eleven thousand Continental and militia soldiers are marching up York Road towards the Cross Roads with Bristol Road [Hartsville, PA] on their way to Coryell's Ferry [New Hope, PA] to camp four miles across the Delaware River. General George Washington receives a dispatch from John Hancock, President of the Second Continental Congress, placing the 260-vessel British fleet, hauling 17,000 troops under General William Howe, fifty miles south of the Delaware Capes [May & Henelopen] on 7 August. Unsure and wary of Howe's intentions, Washington immediately halts his force to encamp around the bridge over the Little Neshaminy Creek in Warwick Township, Bucks County. Knowing the area and having ridden through only ten days earlier, he selects the substantial stone dwelling of Widow Moland as his Head Quarters on the farm north of the bridge.

Thomas Jefferson: "Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers....a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."
But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it's been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

Help Prevent Voter Fraud ! !
Judical Watch is Demanding Answers Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:
 | "The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2 |
But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.
We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action? True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step. For more information email info@truethevote.org or go HERE to sign up now! |

2012 Presidential Candidate Selector or Obama, His Allies & Critics Matching Quiz
Politicians have already indicated their 2012 presidential aspirations. This matching quiz includes President Obama, top members of his administration, Obama's most vocal critics (Boehner, Cantor, etc.) and likely White House prospects (Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal, etc.). You may select a position for every issue, or just select issues important to you. The political figures' positions are based upon their voting records, special interest group ratings and their statements in the public record. In cases where there is no known public record or statement, these politicos are not given a score on that issue. We add candidates, revise their views and include new issues as they become known or change. Check back often for updates.

RedState Morning Briefing
For October 26, 2011
1. The Washington Post Puts a Romney Blogger on the Payroll to Attack Romney's Opponents
The Washington Post has been subsidizing the left's bloggers for a while now. Greg Sargent is a veritable mouthpiece of the Democratic National Committee. Ezra Klein repackages left-wing talking points as an "economics" blogger or some such despite the fact that his only credential as an economist is a college degree in political science.
Now the Washington Post has put a Mitt Romney blogger on the payroll and everybody is pretty open about that connection.
Jenn Rubin, when not pushing out Romney talking points is in favor of freeing traitors, claims to be a conservative covering the conservative movement, though she has nothing in common with conservatives other than hating terrorists. A conservative friend says she's best understood as 'Likud' rather than Republican or conservative. There's nothing wrong with being Likud, but one ought to be honest about it.
In any event, in a profile in the Politico, we get two rather stunning admissions for a supposedly objective blogger covering the conservative side of the aisle for the Washington Post.
Couple these two together and one must objectively wonder how the Washington Post can keep her on the payroll without fundamentally changing the description of who she is and what she does.
2. Rick Perry's Birtherism
On a day when he should be focused on his 20/20 plan, the press wants Rick Perry to focus on Barack Obama's 'birth certificate." Why? Because a Parade interviewer asked Perry about it and Perry did not flat out say "Obama is an American citizen."
So now the press is after him. John Harwood of the New York Times asked Perry three times about the subject in one interview.
It is clear from the interviews that (A) Perry does not much care; (B) Perry thinks it is fun to tease Barack Obama about it and (C) the press wants a definitive answer.
Because Perry admits it is a distraction and it is clear the press will not let go of it, Rick Perry just needs to get it over with and say the man is an American. But I suspect he won't do that even though he should, though in South Carolina late yesterday he pretty adamantly moved on telling a local reporter the question was "a distraction" and he was talking about jobs.
Rick Perry likes picking on Barack Obama. Watching the video below, it seems to me that Perry is not a birther, but sure isn't afraid to use the issue to needle the President, whether I or anyone else likes it or not.
3. "An Incredible Moment in Politics." Mitt Romney Won't Go There.
Hey Rick Perry, if you weren't trying to have fun with birtherism, this would probably be a much bigger media story today. Peter Hamby over at CNN referred to it as "an incredible moment in politics."
Mitt Romney refused to endorse John Kasich's reforms in Ohio. This is a huge freaking deal.
Playing it too safe is finally biting Romney in the rear end. He's refused to call social security a ponzi scheme. He's refused to offer bold economic reform plans. He's refused to address significant changes in entitlement reforms. His whole campaign has centered around tapioca.
And yesterday, while at a call center where volunteers were calling people to support Governor Kasich's reforms, Mitt Romney . . . well . . . he wouldn't commit.
4. A Conservative Look at Perry's Economic Plan
When Herman Cain proposed his 9-9-9 plan, many conservatives became energized, despite their misgivings with the fine print of the plan. It wasn't so much the details of the proposal that excited the base, as most conservatives intuitively recoiled from a consumption tax; it was the boldness of the plan that resonated with them. Cain's 9-9-9 brought some excitement to a race that was defined by a frontrunner who offered 160 pages of banal fluff. Nevertheless, his plan was too flawed to be utilized as a viable rallying cry in the general election. Perry appears to have proposed both a viable and bold economic plan, albeit with some inevitable flaws.
Here is a synopsis of all of the major components.
5. Elizabeth Warren on Occupy Wall Street: 'I Created the Intellectual Foundation for What They Do. I Support What They Do.'
"I created much of the intellectual foundation for what they do. I support what they do." This quote, from Massachusetts Democratic senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren, can be found in this otherwise unremarkable (and poorly written) article by Daily Beast writer Samuel Jacobs. It's nice, in a way, that the true creator of the Occupy Wall Street movement has stepped forward to announce herself; after all, now we know who to credit for their motivation, goals, and actions.
Speaking of what the participants in Liz Warren's brainchild are doing, let's take a quick look at Occupy Wall Streeters around the country.
6. Joe Biden wants the scary, scary Human Events reporter to go away.
First, let's refresh people's memory of what happened.
For those without video: basically, what happened was that after Joe Biden Opened His Mouth and announced that voting against the President's job bill would result in more rapes in Flint, Michigan, Jason Mattera of Human Events confronted the Vice President on Biden's statement. If you watch the video, you'll see that Mattera 'ambushed' VP Biden by cruelly saying the magic word 'picture:' this of course caused Biden to go into full Pavlovian politician mode... thus freezing him for just long enough for Mattera to ask Biden on the record whether that language was appropriate for a sitting Vice President. Biden then attempted to push out a cloud of link by standing by his statement that rapes were up three times in Flint - which, by the way, Factcheck.org calls a 'whopper;' i.e., a lie - and then made a hasty retreat.
So. Point to Human Events. But now it gets better.
You see, now there has to be an investigation.
7. BLS September Mass Layoff Report: It's unpleasant and inconvenient
It's become something of a legend among unions and the nation's labor relations community but, for those old enough to remember the mid-90s, when Whole Foods was under constant attack by the United Food & Commercial Workers, John Mackey, Whole Foods' CEO once shared his opinion of unions with a reporter, as follows:
"The union is like having herpes. It doesn't kill you, but it's unpleasant and inconvenient, and it stops a lot of people from becoming your lover."
Of course, the UFCW and other unions went ballistic. They protested and picketed and boycotted. [I mean, really, who wants to be told they're like a case of herpes?] But, that was more than 15 years ago and times have changed for unions-although, with more than 93% of the private-sector now union-free, not for the better. Yet, unions are still having their unpleasant and inconvenient consequences.
8. Indiana GOP goes after election fraud; 65 indictments in southern Indiana
Two weeks ago, we noted a Chicago Tribune story about fraud by either the Indiana Democratic Party or the Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns in the 2008 Democratic Primary in Indiana. Now Indiana Republican Party Chairman Eric Holcomb is doing what I urge GOP chairman to do: document all the fraud that actually happens on the ground and the convictions that occur. I always like to point to the 32 convictions from the 2003 East Chicago Democratic Mayoral primary because the election was overturned, and we have testimony under oath of how the various sides try to cheat each other. One example was sort of boring. In 2010, a Muncie city councilman who had been on the city council since 1987 was convicted of mishandling absentee ballots. But the tastiest was a new one.

Blame the BP oil spill on the green movement.
Because BP spent all those millions re-branding itself as "Beyond Petroleum" and trying to "greenwash" its image by buying into renewable energy, it forgot how to run its core business-drilling for the sticky black stuff the world needs far more than it needs solar power or bird-chomping wind farms.
Teach a liberal a little science: the sea is full of microorganisms that eat petroleum (which is leaking from the seabed all the time).
The BP oil spill in the Gulf, which was supposed to have despoiled the region for decades, will likely have little long-term effect on the fishing industry or the ecological health of the region. Yes, the oil spill was a "disaster," but the idea that we would never again be eating Gulf shrimp or oysters or be able to enjoy the region's beaches was pure eco-hysteria and fear-mongering. Liberals, like little bratty children, are very good at screaming and pointing fingers and passing blame ("It's his fault!") or issuing threats (like Obama's joke of an Interior Secretary Ken Salazar saying he was going to keep his boot on the neck of BP-that really helped)-or Obama haplessly asking whose ass he should kick-(ditto); but it's conservatives who generally keep their heads and get on with the job of fixing the problem. All the liberal hypocrites did was cripple the tourist industry along the Gulf Coast-in typical liberal fashion making a "disaster" worse.

The left's worst crime in the Middle East has been its support for the region's Arab-Muslim majority at the expense of its minorities. It has supported the majority's terrorism, atrocities, ethnic cleansing and repression of the region's minorities. Very rarely has it raised a voice in their support, and when it has done so, it was in muted tones completely different from their vigorous defenses of the nationalism of the Arab Muslim majority. The left is obsessed with the Arab Spring, which rewards the ambitions of Arabist and Islamist activists at the expense of Coptic, African and other minorities. It is dementedly fixated on statehood for the Arab Muslims of Israel, (better known by their local Palestinian brand), but has little to say about the Kurds in Turkey or the Azeri in Iran. The million Jewish refugees and the vanishing Christians of the region never come up in conversation. They certainly don't get their own protest rallies or flotillas. The Africans of Sudan could have used a flotilla, or an entire UN organization dedicated to their welfare, which the Arab Muslims who had failed to wipe out the region's Jewish minority are the beneficiaries of. But they had to make do with third tier aid. Unlike the Arab nationalists and Islamists of Libya, the French, English and American air force did not come to their rescue. It came to the rescue of the Libyans who showed their gratitude in the time honored way of the Arab majority by massacring the African minority. All under the beaming smiles of the selective humanitarians of the left. But what's a little genocide between friends? The left embraced Pan-Arabism, a race based nationalism, in line with the Soviet Union's expansionist foreign policy. Pan-Arabism's socialism made it easy for the left to ignore its overt racism along with the admiration of many of its leading lights for Nazi Germany. The same left which refused to see the Gulags and the ethnic cleansing under the red flag, turned an equally blind eye to the contradiction of condemning Zionism for its ethnic basis, while supporting Pan-Arabism, which was ethnically based.

Gaffney: Rise of Sharia Law Will Bring War to the Middle East
Monday, 24 Oct 2011
By Martin Gould and Kathleen Walter
War is on its way in the Middle East as Muslim countries are determined to force a showdown over the future of Israel, Ronald Reagan's assistant defense secretary Frank Gaffney warned in an exclusive Newsmax.TV interview.
"I'm afraid there's a war coming, a very serious, perhaps cataclysmic regional war," he said. "It will be presumably over, at least in part, the future existence of the state of Israel. It may involve all of its neighbors, as they have in the past, attacking Israel to try, as they say, to drive the Jews into the sea.
"It may involve the use of nuclear weapons," Gaffney predicted. "But whatever form it takes and whenever it occurs, it is unlikely to be contained to that region, and we must do everything we can to prevent freedom's enemies from thinking they have an opportunity to engage in that kind of warfare."
That means standing "absolutely, unmistakably" as one with Israel and doing everything to prevent Iran getting its hands on nuclear weapons.

LA TIMES Islamist parties are a legitimate political force, whether we like it or not. "A lot of aren't democrats at heart," he said. "But you cannot get rid of these people. You have to deal with them."
And that, in a nutshell, is the dilemma facing the U.S. and anyone else who worries that the Arab world's Islamists could turn out to be like the Muslim revolutionaries who seized control in Iran 32 years ago - authoritarian, hostile and democratic only in name.
Many of the Islamists aren't liberal pluralists at heart. They want Islam to be their countries' official religion. They want some form of Sharia to be the basis of civil law. They don't like Israel, and they don't like U.S. policy on Israel. All that has made many Americans identify the Islamists as an outcome to the revolutions that we can't live with. Explain, Mr President: Obama Pulls References to Islam from Terror Training Materials, But Orders Killing of Awlaki

"The Obama administration was pulling back all training materials used for the law enforcement and national security communities, in order to eliminate all references to Islam that some Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups have claimed are offensive."
How can Obama impose, enforce the blasphemy laws of the sharia (do not criticize, offend of speak truthfully about Islam) and order the killing of Imam Awlaki? Think about that. Awlaki did not kill anyone. Awlaki was a devout imam who preached the word of the quran.
Banning religious motivation, Islam and jihad has been a cornerstone of this national security policy (i.e. Obama Bans Islam, Jihad From National Security Strategy Document, April 2010) ?but Obama orders the executions of those proselytizing and advancing pure Islam, authentic Islam.

As readers of Israpundit know full well, I have been very critical of the West for its attack on Libya. I went so far as to suggest all the people and groups who are incessant in their attacks on Israel, are complicit or asleep when it comes to the war on Libya.

Actually, there are reasons to doubt Libyan responsibility for both the Berlin disco bombing and the Lockerbie bombing.
Re. the Berlin disco bombing, I think most Americans don't realize that the bomber was in fact German. She was tried and convicted. She had been married to a Palestinian guy who is alleged to have had contacts with Libyan intelligence - though she was no longer even married to him at the time that she planted the bomb. Re Lockerbie, the evidence for Megrahi's - and by extension, Libyan - involvement is extremely circumstantial. One of...

God Help Britain
Tuesday, 25 October 2011 00:00 FresnoZionism.org
I've written more than once about the relationship between anti-Zionism and antisemitism. But a recent piece in the UK Guardian (circulation 279,000 in January 2011) surprised even me.
A creature named Deborah Orr writes a weekly column in that newspaper, which refers to her as "one of Britain's leading social and political commentators." God help Britain, then.
Orr rarely if ever writes about Israel - indeed, going back to January of this year I can find no other mention of the subject. So she is not one of the multitude of professional Israel-bashers, which makes it worse.
Here is the whole ugly thing:
It's quite something, the prisoner swap between Hamas and the Israeli government that returns Gilad Shalit to his family, and more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners to theirs. The deal is widely viewed as a victory for Hamas, the radical Islamist group that gained power in Gaza after years of frustration at the intractability of the "peace process". Conversely, it is being seen by some as a sign of weakness in Israel's rightwing prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu. All this, I fear, is simply an indication of how inured the world has become to the obscene idea that Israeli lives are more important than Palestinian lives. Netanyahu argues that he acted because he values Shalit's life so greatly.

Fjordman Lives On Despite Media Censorship
Today's edition of the Norwegian newspaper VG published an essay by Fjordman. The text, however, had been significantly redacted by the editors of VG without the author's consent. To set the record straight, the complete article is reproduced below in English, followed by the original Norwegian.
Just as we did several weeks ago, we aim to overcome the stifling censorship imposed by the Norwegian media by spreading this essay as widely as possible. To help the cause of free speech, please mirror it on your blog or website.
We intend to demonstrate once again to the Norwegian newspapers that we can reach a wider readership than they can.
Introductory note from Fjordman:
This is my most recent Norwegian article as it should have appeared in print. Today VG, the largest national newspaper in Norway, published this article in the paper edition, but they also cut out a couple of vital paragraphs without my knowledge or approval. My essay was not over-long, and I stayed within their normal limits.
The missing paragraphs referred to the fact that Mohammed had sex with a nine-year-old child (Aisha) and that modern Islamic theologians such as Yusuf al-Qaradawi support this policy today because it is a part of Mohammed's Sunna, his personal example. Journalist Elisabeth Skarsbø Moen and others deleted this, accidentally-on-purpose. They also deleted my suggestion that NRK TV dare not show a drooling Yusuf al-Qaradawi in a wheelchair telling Muslims that pedophilia is OK, in contrast to the parody of me they have been broadcasting.
Why did they cut this out? Fear, plain and simple.

Hotel cancels anti-sharia event Please contact the hotel to express your disapproval!
| | |
The Hutton Hotel in Nashville has abruptly canceled an event scheduled for November 11th hosted by the Sharia Awareness Action Network and the Tennessee Freedom Coalition. One of the scheduled speakers for the event is an ACT! for America chapter leader who will be addressing issues such as grassroots organizing. According to a news article:
|
A Nashville hotel has canceled its contract with an anti-Shariah conference out of fear the event could attract protests and disrupt business.
|
This is the second hotel to take such outrageous action in the past week. It's clear they are knuckling under to complaints and threats from organizations such as CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations. What's more, the hotels are in effect capitulating to sharia law provisions that suppress free speech. We cannot allow this unacceptable and outrageous action to go unchallenged. We urge you to contact the hotel, and respectfully but firmly, voice your disapproval. Let the hotel know you will never stay there unless it reverses this decision, and that you will pass the word to friends and family encouraging them to do the same. We recommend you contact the hotel by phone. The reason is that it's easier for them to ignore you if you email. A deluge of phone calls will make it abundantly clear to them that the decision they made will be costly to them. Please phone the hotel at 615.340.9333 and ask to speak to Steven Andre, the hotel manager or, if that person is unavailable, ask to speak to someone who handles public relations. If the phone is busy, try again later. If you absolutely can't place a call, send a firm, but respectful, email Mr. Andre at sandre@huttonhotel.com. And if you haven't yet signed the pledge of support to protect your state from sharia law, please add your name today!

The hate in Zuccotti
By ANDREA PEYSER
October 24, 2011
Pete Sutherland traveled to Zuccotti Park all the way from Georgia Friday, shivering as he wielded a handmade sign that read, "The Reason the Arabs Hate Us."
"Jews are the smartest people in the world," said Sutherland, 79. Not in a good way.
"They control the media."
But no one tells the truth about the Hebrew people, as he sees it, because "the media doesn't want to commit suicide by losing the Jewish advertisers.''
"I'm not anti-Semitic," he finished.
He's not alone.
From the teacher who vowed to run "Zionists Jews who run these big banks" out of the country to the dude who mocked and danced in the face of a yarmulke-topped "bum," Occupy Wall Street must no longer deny it.
The movement has a serious Jewish problem.

Mosques, evidently, are excluded from the law requiring all people to be treated equally.

THE INTERFAITH TASKFORCE FOR AMERICA AND ISRAEL (ITAI)

Dear ITAI Members and Donors:
ITAI ON THE MOVE...Joseph Pudermet on Sunday, October 16, 2011, in Millburn, NJ, with the leaders of the American (Egyptian) Coptic Associationto discuss how the U.S. should respond to the persecution of Christian-Copts in Egypt...ITAI welcomes Arik Levy of Langhorne, PA as its newest member.
The ITAI WEEKLY MIDDLE EAST REPORT titled The Shalit Exchange ponders the ramifications of the Shalit prisoners exchange deal. Clearly, a better outcome would have been a daring rescue operation. The freeing of 1027 Palestinian terrorists with blood on their hands opens the way for additional kidnapping and murder of Israeli soldiers and civilians, and undermines Israel's credibility and deterrence. Still, for the nation as a whole, seeing young Gilad Shalit returned back to his family and country united the people of Israel and reemphasized its steadfast ethos of "never leaving a soldier behind enemy lines."
THE SHALIT EXCHANGE
By: Joseph Puder
Like so many others in Israel, I watched the special telecast of the return home of Gilad Shalit, 25 on Mabat/Channel One TV, and along with most Israelis I was moved by the warm embrace between father (Noam) and his son following the long struggle to bring him home after five years and four months of agonizing captivity. The Shalit family deserved a happy ending considering the tragedy the family already endured in losing Noam's twin brother in the Yom Kippur war. But is this prisoner exchange with Hamas strategically good for Israel as a nation?
In the short term, the left-leaning Israeli media that campaigned vigorously on behalf of a prisoner exchange, and emotionally engaged the entire nation in seeking Gilad's return, will give Prime Minister Netanyahu full credit for his release. Soon enough however, the 1027 Palestinian terrorists, most with blood on their hands, will return to their murderous activities, something the Hamas leadership assured us they will be encouraged to do. The Israeli media will then point an accusing finger at the Likud government, and Netanyahu's tactical and temporary triumph will disappear in what pundits will see as his strategic mistake.
Ironically, it was Benjamin Netanyahu who wrote in his 1995 book, Fighting Terrorism: How the West Can Defeat Domestic and International terrorism that "Refusing to release terrorists from prison was among the most important policies that must be adopted in the face of terrorism." Netanyahu added, "By leading terrorists to believe that their demands will be met, they encourage precisely the terrorist blackmail they are supposed to defuse." As the opposition leader in 2008, Netanyahu opposed Prime Minister Olmert's deal to free terrorists, arguing that "this would weaken Israel and strengthen the terror elements."
The deal made with Hamas to exchange the prisoners has to be considered one of Israel's most dramatic intelligence failures. It is, first and foremost, a blow to Israel's credibility as an uncompromising combatant of terrorism. For decades Israel preached to the western world the mantra of "terrorism must be fought not negotiated with," a lesson the U.S. and Russia learned well but apparently not Israel.
The exchange sends a clear message to Hamas and other enemies of Israel that the Jewish State's resolve has weakened, and that the will to find ingenious ways to free its captives has now withered away. People still remember how the Israelis in July 1976, crossed continents to rescue hundreds of Israelis and Jewish hostages in Entebbe, Uganda, killing the Arab and German terrorists and safely bringing the hostages home.
The world, which admired Israel's courage and ingenuity in rescuing hundreds of hostages, cannot understand why a nation with one of the best intelligence services, and with one of the most advanced technological capabilities, along with an experienced military, was unable to discover where Shalit was kept (he was known to be in Gaza, only a few miles away from the border with Israel) and find a way to rescue him during the past five years. Moreover, Israel failed to mobilize compelling pressure on Hamas, and in the end had to give in and deal with Hamas.
The ethos of the IDF, an army of the people in which everyone serves as opposed to an army of professional soldiers, is that everything will be done to bring a soldier home. In contrast to the U.S. and armies of NATO nations where service is voluntary, and thus the government is not obliged to trade terrorists for his life or his freedom.
Appeals made to Israeli High Court of Justice by the families of victims who attempted to prevent the release of the killers who murdered their loved ones, were turned down. MK Dr. Arieh Eldad (National Unity Party), in an interview with Israel's Channel One TV Mabat, warned that the government should not take down the Shalit Protest Tent since it will be needed by future families whose sons will be kidnapped and used as bargaining chips to compel Israel to release even more terrorist murderers from prison.
In the meantime, an Israeli TV broadcast aired showing Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas' "Prime Minister," giving a speech during the victory celebrations held in Gaza's main square, in which he declared "Palestinian's will not be satisfied with 22% of Palestine, we want the 1948 territories (Israel) as well." This was an intentional jab at Mahmoud Abbas for having talked to the Israelis and having achieved nothing, while Hamas was able to deliver terrorists who will fight Israelis again.
Haniyeh gave an especially warm welcome to Yehya Al-Sinwar, a top Hamas security strategist who spent 23 years in an Israeli prison. Al-Sinwar called on the Hamas military wing to "kidnap more Israeli soldiers in order to free the remaining prisoners in Israeli jails."
While Israelis felt good about Gilad Shalit's return home and most were willing to pay the price, Israelis are also realistic about the increased vulnerability to their safety. A Mabat/Israeli Channel One TV survey revealed that 63% believe "Israel paid too high a price for the Shalit deal."
The survey also found that 70% believe that Israel must limit the release of terrorists and 82% believe that more soldiers will be kidnapped. Yet, 80% believed that Netanyahu acted the right way. A surprising 64% believed that the media has put too much pressure on the government to go through with the Shalit deal. Finally, 67% believe that more terror will result from the prisoners' exchange.
The long-term prognosis for Israel's security following this prisoner exchange is negative. Had there been greater resolve and less defeatism by Defense Minister Ehud Barak, the outcome could have been much more positive for Israel. During the Cast Lead Israeli operation against Hamas in Gaza, PM Olmert wanted Hamas to think that Israel intended to capture the Hamas leadership. For Haniyeh Jabari and the others, saving their skins was of paramount importance. Had Barak not spoken publically of a "humanitarian corridor," which enabled the top leadership to flee, the Hamas leaders would have been captured and exchanged for Shalit.
According to the intelligence reports at the time, Shalit was kept in the Rafah area and Olmert proposed to dispatch a full Brigade to Rafah, but was opposed by Barak and others. Cast Lead was a tactical victory for Israel but a strategic defeat. Gilad Shalit, the most valuable asset Hamas ever had remained in their hands while Israel continued to remove red-lines until it finally surrendered this week.
Today the Israeli nation is proud and elated at the return of Gilad Shalit. As Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu declared, "Today, Gilad is everyone's son who has returned home." Tomorrow however, is another story...

Judge Mary Scriven's ruling is in response to a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union that claims the law is unconstitutional. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a 35-year-old Navy veteran and single father who sought the benefits while finishing his college degree, but refused to take the test.

FBI saw dark side of Rep. John Murtha
Amazing how corrupt this man was
Last week's release of FBI documents finally put in writing what nobody had ever said on the record: The FBI suspected that former Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and lobbyists close to him were running a scheme to funnel earmarks to sham companies and nonprofits to benefit the lawmaker's friends and former staffers.
Bits and pieces of this story were kicked around for years before Murtha died in February 2010. The Los Angeles Times, Roll Call, the Washington Post and others had documented the odd appearance of earmarks for tiny defense contractors that just happened to open an office in western Pennsylvania and just happened to hire one of the lobbying firms close to Murtha and just happened to begin making campaign donations to Murtha and other Members of Congress close to him.

Rick Perry: My tax and spending reform plan
Having an actual plan is starting to sound good
The folks in Washington might not like to hear it, but the plain truth is the U.S. government spends too much. Taxes are too high, too complex, and too riddled with special interest loopholes. And our expensive entitlement system is unsustainable in the long run.
Without significant change quickly, our nation will go the way of some in Europe: mired in debt and unable to pay our bills. President Obama and many in Washington seem unable or unwilling to tackle these issues, either out of fear of alienating the left or because they want Americans to be dependent on big government.

For Obama, a campaign money swing with star power
Hollywood money rollin' in
Some glitz, some glamor and plenty of campaign cash. President Barack Obama is hitting a reliable fundraising trail in California, tapping star donors and trading quips with Jay Leno in what is for him a well-worn path.
The president will tape an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Tuesday, his second as sitting president and fourth appearance overall. Monday evening he joined actor Will Smith and basketball legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson at a dinner at the home of producer James Lassiter. Then he mingled with Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas over canapés at the movie star couple's home just a few blocks away.

Obama tests go-it-alone steps for U.S. economy
Where is that in Article II?
President Barack Obama launched the first in a series of executive actions on Monday aimed at bypassing Republicans in Congress to show American voters he is serious about tackling a jobs and housing crisis that endangers his re-election.
Trying to seize the initiative and demonstrate he will take steps on his own if lawmakers do not act, Obama began a campaign-style swing through Western states seen as crucial to his chances of winning a second term in the November 2012 election.

Tuesday, October 25, 2011 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer Obama On The Attack In today's daily Rasmussen tracking poll, the number of voters who "strongly support" President Obama fell to a new low of 18%. His overall rating is in the low 40s. But the fact that only 18% strongly approve is a huge problem for an incumbent seeking reelection. Faced with falling approval ratings, Obama is going on the attack. In Las Vegas yesterday we got a preview of what the 2012 campaign is going to look like: Slash and burn conservatives and the GOP. Obama repeated the dubious claim that his so-called jobs bill would create two million new jobs. I've addressed Obama's false claim before, so I won't rehash it. But what struck me about the president's various speeches yesterday was how petty he was. Instead of making the case for his new housing proposal, Obama spent much of his time attacking congressional Republicans. He even attacked Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell by name. At another venue Obama said this:
"I'm here to say that we can't wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job. Where they won't act, I will. ...There is no excuse for the games and gridlock we've seen in Washington. ... Where we don't have to wait for Congress, we're just going to go ahead and act on our own."
Let me remind you of something. We are nearly three years into Obama's term. When Obama was inaugurated the unemployment rate was 7.2%. For his first two years, Democrats dominated Washington. With huge liberal majorities in the House and Senate, Obama got virtually everything he wanted, including a massive $800 billion stimulus bill and his socialized medicine scheme. And today the unemployment rate is 9.1%. My friends, congressional Republicans and conservatives are not responsible for Obama's dysfunctional economy. But he is trying to pin the blame on them. As I have said before, hope and change is gone. Fear and smear is all the Democrats have left. Hoping to exploit the growing anxiety felt across the country, Obama has morphed "Yes we can" into "We can't wait." Obama and his left-wing allies will spend hundreds of millions of dollars, perhaps even a billion dollars, trying to convince you, your friends at work and church, your kids and grandchildren, that conservatives and the Tea Party are responsible for his mess. Don't let your friends and family members fall for the left's spin. Use the information we present in this daily report, such as our debunking of Obama's jobs plan. Tell them that House Republicans have passed 15 bills that will help spur job creation but that the Democrat-controlled Senate won't act. Fight back! We can't afford four more years of Obama's failed policies. A Taxing Debate: Flat Versus Sales Tax reform is again taking center stage in the GOP presidential contest. Texas Governor Rick Perry announced his economic plan today, which he calls "Cut, Balance and Grow" -- cut federal spending, balance the budget by 2020 and grow the economy. The centerpiece of Perry's plan is a new voluntary 20% flat tax on personal and corporate income. The plan preserves the most popular deductions for mortgage interest, charitable contributions and state and local taxes for families with incomes under $500,000. It also eliminates the capital gains tax and the death tax. Perry is also proposing serious entitlement reform, including personal retirement accounts for younger workers. You can read more about Perry's economic plan here. Yesterday, Newt Gingrich previewed his economic agenda in an op-ed in Iowa's Quad-City Times. Like Perry, Gingrich is calling for a voluntary flat tax, but with lower rates of 15% for individuals and 12.5% for corporations. The leading Republican contenders have all laid out broad economic plans. Mitt Romney's plan largely favors reforming and flattening of the existing code, while Gingrich and Perry are backing a flat tax. Herman Cain has proposed a combination of low flat taxes and a low national sales tax, with the ultimate goal of transitioning entirely to a national sales tax. I'm not taking a position on the flat tax versus the national sales tax. But this is a crucial issue that deserves serious debate. Consumer confidence is down yet again. Housing prices are down. Wages are down. Unemployment is up. Inflation is up. The GOP contenders are offering bold economic reforms intended to dramatically spur growth so the economy can create millions of new jobs. What is Obama offering? Another stimulus bill. It's the same liberal prescription of higher taxes, more spending and bigger government. But as we can see from Europe, that is a dead-end road. We can't wait for Obama to get it right. We need a change to restore America's hope! OWS And Its Extreme Supporters The ads by the Emergency Committee for Israel (ECI) exposing the blatant anti-Semitism within the Occupy Wall Street movement have struck a nerve. J Street, a Soros-funded leftist group that claims to be pro-Israel and yet always takes the pro-Palestinian position, launched a vicious attack on one of ECI's board members. Liberal Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen wrote a column attacking ECI for exposing the anti-Semitism within the OWS movement, claiming he couldn't find any. (Did you see the ad, Richard?) Disgraced politician Eliot Spitzer is also upset. Perhaps that's because we exposed him in the ad too. Sadly reinforcing our point, Klansman and bigot David Duke released a web video endorsing Occupy Wall Street while also engaging in some of the worst Jew-baiting since Joseph Goebbels. Praised by Barack Obama and leading Democrats, the Occupy Wall Street movement continues to rack up a long list of extremist supporters -- from the American Nazi Party and the Communist Party USA (here) to pro-OWS demonstrators in Tehran and North Korea. But, according to big media, this menagerie of communists, socialists, anti-Semites, anarchists and drug legalizers represents middle America!

Occupy Wall Street Is No Tea Party
On September 17, 2011, while Tea Parties and the rest of America celebrated the Constitution's 224th birthday, Occupy Wall Street began its bivouac. The past few years have witnessed the rise and fall of several left-leaning political fads, each touted as a response to the rise of the Tea Party Movement: the Coffee Party, One Nation, and Jon Stewart's and Stephen Colbert' s Rally to Restore Sanity. A month after the Wall Street occupation began, the protesters say they are just getting started. But, a month is more than enough time to see that Occupy Wall Street is no Tea Party. Wall Street occupiers call themselves the 99%. They are united against the 1%, defined as the top income earners, who don't pay enough taxes but still get government bailouts for their corporations and banks. As a corrective, the occupiers demand that the 1% pay more taxes and the 99% receive more benefits, in the form of student loan forgiveness, free health care, and jobs through New Deal-esque programs. Beyond their general demands for redistributive policies, Wall Street occupiers have radically different plans for America's governmental structure. "Since we can no longer trust our elected representatives to represent us rather than their large donors," the Zuccotti Park occupiers explain, "we are creating a microcosm of what democracy really looks like." Zuccotti Park is meant to be a model of the governmental structure that should replace America's constitutional system. On July 4, 2012, some Wall Street occupiers plan to hold a new Philadelphia Convention to recreate American democracy. Their birthday gift to America will be eliminating the constitutional system. But what about the Tea Party Movement? They, too, were outraged by the bailouts, but not for lack of access to the government's coffers. The Tea Party argued that government did not have constitutional authority to bailout anyone on Wall Street or Main Street. Far from the 99% waging class warfare against the 1%, the Tea Party wanted the same rules for 100% of Americans. As William Voegeli notes, the Tea Party concluded that "the general government has, over the last several decades, stepped further and further outside of the bounds of the Constitution." Therefore, reviving limited, constitutional government became the Tea Party's task. Unlike those early patriots who "had to establish their independence and to start anew," Matthew Spalding explains in Reclaiming America: Why We Honor the Tea Party Movement the twenty-first century Tea Party's task is "not to overthrow; it is not revolution; it is renewal and restoration of those self-evident truths of constitutional government at the heart of America." The Tea Party embraces the system of government outlined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and they demand their elected representatives do the same. Though both sets of protesters are frustrated with America's direction, Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party have very different goals. Occupy Wall Street seeks to loosen American democracy from its constitutional roots. The Tea Party recognizes that it does not need to throw away America's system of government, and-unlike the Wall Street occupiers-it's not trying to do so.

Morning Bell: We Can't Wait Either, Mr. President
Take a stroll through your neighborhood Occupy Wall Street protest-whether it's in New York or Chicago, Detroit or San Francisco-and you're likely to see a recurring theme emblazoned across cardboard signs: redistribute wealth from the 1 percent to the 99 percent, all in the name of fairness, whether or not it makes good policy. Or if you want to hear that message without fighting the crowds, you could save yourself some time, turn on the TV, and tune in to President Barack Obama's latest campaign swing across America, this time titled "We Can't Wait."
"I'm here to say that we can't wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job. Where they won't act, I will," President Obama proclaimed in Las Vegas, Nevada. "There is no excuse for the games and gridlock we've seen in Washington. Where we don't have to wait for Congress, we're just going to go ahead and act on our own." The actions the President is proposing? More money for "underwater" mortgages and a yet-to-be-announced student loan initiative.
There is no hiding the ball in the President's populist pitch-and that ball is Obama's desire to circumvent Congress and enact policies that appeal to his far-left, big-government base, regardless of the will of the people or their representatives in the House and Senate. Obama's problem is that he failed to convince the American people-and his own party-to pass his latest stimulus plan (a.k.a., "the American Jobs Act"), and now he's headed into an election season with 14 million jobless Americans, a 9.1 percent unemployment rate, stagnant economic growth as far as the eye can see, and nothing to show for it.

October has been very good to Herman Cain as poll updates show
Oct 25, 2011 06:28 am | Coach Collins
By Kevin "Coach" Collins
In early October various polls showed a steady stream of good news for Herman Cain.
A Gallup poll showed Cain swamping Perry in positive intensity of support. It had Cain at 30 (his highest level) and Perry at 15. Willard was not mentioned.
A straw poll of the National Federation of Republican Women showed: Cain 48%, Perry 14% and Willard 13%.
At an Illinois TEA party event Cain took 77% of the vote.
Public Policy Polling found these results in these states: North Carolina- Cain jumped from 8% to 27%, 10 points ahead of Willard. In Nebraska it was Cain 30 Willard 13 and in West Virginia Cain topped Willard 24/16. What is more significant is that Cain is pulling well with self identified "very conservative" likely voters - 35% in North Carolina 36% in Nebraska and 25% in West Virginia. This is very big because of the "Primary ... Continue Reading:October has been very good to Herman Cain as poll updates show

An about-face by an opponent of voter ID laws
October 24, 2011, by Kyle Wingfield
There is a constant refrain from the opponents of voter ID laws: that it is an attempt by white Republicans to suppress the votes of black Democrats. I've never understood why these opponents are allowed to get away with making what strikes me as a bigoted statement on its face: that African Americans are somehow less capable or motivated when it comes to obtaining a state-issued photo ID. But they do get away with it.
That's why I thought it noteworthy that someone who admits to making such an argument in the past has turned the argument on its head and explained why election fraud is the real suppression measure - and testified that such fraud does happen.
Here's Artur Davis, a former Democratic congressman from Alabama, writing in the Montgomery Advertiser:

Mr. Romney regrets
Posted: 25 Oct 2011 02:43 PM PDT
(Scott Johnson)
Over at Ricochet, Troy Senik draws attention to a Politico story on Mitt Romney's visit to Ohio today. Polico reports that during the visit Romney declined to state his position on a high-profile referendum there on the new state law that curtails the bargaining rights of public employee unions. Earlier this year, however, according to Politico, Romney indicated support for the reforms signed by Governor Kasich.
Senik cruelly quotes Romney's "typically milquetoast" statement: "I am not speaking about the particular ballot issues. Those are up to the people of Ohio."
"What makes this whole situation even more bizarre," Senik comments, is that at the time "Romney was at a GOP phone bank where volunteers were making calls about the collective bargaining measures when he refused his support."
In the 2008 campaign Govenor Romney made himself a caricature of one kind of presidential candidate. This time around, he's trying something new. He's becoming a caricature of an entirely different kind of presidential candidate.
"Occupy" Police Blotter Continues to Grow Posted: 25 Oct 2011 01:11 PM PDT (John Hinderaker) Drudge is highlighting the continuing criminal problems of various "occupy" groups: in Boston, a heroin bust, in Dallas, a sexual assault. Zombie visited Occupy Oakland and came away disgusted-no wonder, since the City has "issued an eviction notice the day before the rally, citing sanitation issues, garbage, rats and other hygiene problems at the encampment." (Yes, I know, it's just like the Tea Party.) Zombie found widespread evidence of criminal conduct, including drug dealing. I think I knew this guy, photographed taking a hit on what looks like a hash pipe, in the 1960s: Here in Minnesota, you might expect the Occupation to be relatively crime-free. But no: the local Sheriff's office reports finding a box of bricks and rocks at the occupation site next to the Hennepin County Government Center: A box containing bricks and rocks was removed from the downtown Minneapolis site of the OccupyMN protest along with a note that described items as supplies for a riot, authorities said. ... The discovery of the bricks and rocks Monday are "a concern for the safety" of law enforcement personnel and those who visit or work at the Government Center, the Sheriff's Office said in a statement revealing the discovery. The article also notes that while there were several hundred demonstrators present when the occupation again, a "much smaller number" is now "pressing on." Yeah, it's starting to get cold. My guess is that by now, you could count them on your fingers and toes. As the weather continues to cool, the nationwide crime wave can be expected to die down.
Anatomy of Romneycare
Posted: 25 Oct 2011 05:49 AM PDT
(Scott Johnson)
Last time around, in the race for the GOP nomination in 2008, Mitt Romney sought to present himself as the the conservative candidate. That should have been the right space to occupy in the field of contenders on the Republican side, but Romney turned out to be a tough sell as a conservative. He's still a tough sell on that score, but he has adjusted his marketing accordingly. This time around, however, he has the weight of Romneycare tied to his ankles. Even though he may otherwise be the strongest candidate in a weak Republican field, Romneycare is a menace to his candidacy.
Obamacare is the single greatest threat to our freedom raised so far by the Obama administration. Millions, probably billions, of dollars are being spent right now by the state and federal governments to implement it, and by business to comply with it. Someone who does this kind of work for a living really ought to write a story about it.
Republicans understand the threat of Obamacare and Americans want it repealed. Democrats framed the statute to take full effect only in 2014, after the next election. Republicans seek a standard bearer who can stand as an effective opponent of the monstrous law before it is too late to undo it.
As the man who presided over the adoption of the Massachusetts health reform plan, Governor Romney is not well positioned to be such a standard bearer, or so it seems to me. Our friend Hugh Hewitt briefly addressed Governor Romney's health care program at pages 150-153 of his highly complimentary 2007 book A Mormon in the White House? Hugh quoted Romney describing the program as one in which "we can get everybody else insured without spending any more money...Now that was the kind of rigorous analysis that you follow and that I followed in consulting. It's data. It's analysis."
Grace-Marie Turner is the president of the Galen Institute. In the Wall Street Journal video below, dating from last week, Turner discusses Romneycare and Obamacare. Romney could take a Nixon goes to China approach to the repeal of Obamacare, but that isn't quite what he promises to do. Turner's anatomy seems to me to add some clarity to the issues confronting us.
We don't hear much about Obamacare nowadays from the Obama administration. It is the administration's signal "achievement," yet the administration isn't bragging much about it. Why is that? In an important article in the September issue of the American Spectator, Turner inferred the method to the Obama administration's silence. "We haven't intercepted their memo to the Oval Office," she writes, but she extrapolates from recent White House tactics what Obama's advisers have recommended to Obama.

Rhode Island: Athens of America?
Walter Russell Mead
Rhode Island is looking more and more like Greece, and not in a good way. That is one message of this important piece by Mary Williams Walsh in the New York Times. Years of blue social policy have wrecked local and state government finance in the country's smallest state, and now the bills are coming due. Services are being cut to the bone and elderly retirees are losing money they thought was secure.
In Rhode Island, it is Democrats, not nasty union-hating Republicans, who are doing the dirty work. Democratic mayors are telling their unions that there isn't any money - not because they are vicious corporate stooges who hate working people and want to see them suffer, but because There. Isn't. Any. Money.
Because Rhode Island listened to timeserving blue politicians too long, and union leaders and public sector workers lost their grip on any mathematical realities beyond the numbers at the ballot box, the pension system grew more and more out of control. State and local governments lurched into a crisis. Vote yourself a raise, vote yourself a pension: why not?
But there is financial math as well as political math and in any war with financial arithmetic, the money numbers win. If there isn't any money, the checks won't clear. Ultimately, you will have to fire existing workers, stop paying pensions or a mix of both. That is where Rhode Island is now: its economy can't generate the revenue to support its existing governance system and to pay its pension obligations.
The Ostrich Party has long ruled Rhode Island; their heads planted firmly in the sand - if not in even darker and damper regions - Rhode Island politicians, government and union officials have done everything possible to conceal the true state of affairs from the voters, the bondholders, retirees and even themselves. Unrealistic assumptions about rates of return helped hide the ugly truth about the looming pension meltdown - and anybody who tried to raise the alarm about the coming crisis was hooted down as an enemy of the workers. Even now the true blue firing squads are assembling to shoot the messenger; Mary Williams Walsh can expect angry push back from a whole sector of American political life that thinks this whole problem will go away if we tax the rich, clap our hands and all say together, "I believe in government".

We have been working toward this moment ever since President Obama signed his ill-conceived, pro-abortion, government-run health care bill into law. ObamaCare is heading to the Supreme Court, and the ACLJ is preparing to file a critical amicus brief with the high court later this week to defeat this unconstitutional law once and for all.
Florida, joined by a majority of states, has asked the Supreme Court to take up ObamaCare and declare it unconstitutional. We always knew that the Supreme Court would eventually rule on this law, and now that time has come.
Please add your name to the amicus brief we are filing with the Supreme Court this week in support of a majority of states - and a majority of the American people - urging the Court to take this case and rule ObamaCare unconstitutional. Sign on to the Supreme Court Committee to Declare ObamaCare Unconstitutional.
ObamaCare represents not only the largest expansion of government power in U.S. history - the ability to force the American people to buy a particular product or service - but also the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade. Now, we have the opportunity to defeat this unconstitutional law at the Supreme Court - once and for all.
In addition to filing an amicus brief with the high court later this week in support of Florida's challenge to ObamaCare, we are also preparing to file an amicus brief in support of Virginia's challenge to the pro-abortion law. In fact, we are awaiting a ruling of a federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., in our own lawsuit challenging ObamaCare - a case that I believe will also end up at the Supreme Court.
Each of these cases at the Supreme Court represent an important opportunity to defeat this bill, stop the massive expansion of taxpayer funding for abortion, end the government's ability to force you and I to buy a particular good or service - in this case, health insurance - and uphold the Constitution.
You know that we have been hard at work from the very beginning to defeat ObamaCare, and I appreciate your support along the way. However, it is crucial that you take a stand again.
By joining this committee, you are actually signing your name to our brief to the Supreme Court to urge the high court to hear this case and declare ObamaCare unconstitutional.
Please take action today by signing on to the Supreme Court Committee to Declare ObamaCare Unconstitutional.
Thank you for taking a stand for life, for liberty, and for the Constitution, as we fight to have the Supreme Court declare this law unconstitutional.
Jay Sekulow ACLJ Chief Counsel

SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
- maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
- provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
- Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
- If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
- And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

OWS organizer: Glenn Beck has best analysis of OWS
Video cameras were rolling at an Occupy Wall Street meeting about a week ago where they discussed various leftist topics. One of the panelists talked about how the movement could lead to dragging bankers out into the streets and credited Glenn as the only one who has accurately described the threat of violence. When the clip was posted at BigGovernment.com as evidence that Glenn was right - the media refuted that claim. Glenn played the audio on radio this morning - get the truth in their own words HERE.

David Duke fires up the common sense machine Ok, ok - so the David Duke common sense machine is not firing on all cylinders. Ok, ok so the David Duke common sense machine doesn't exist. But he does speak out from time to time, and unfortunately digital devices occasionally record what this racist has said and it's inflicted on America. Duke goes on a tirade bashing NYC and the 'Zionist globalism' and actually had the nerve to say "these Zionist spawned wars cost 100 times the American lives lost in 911" among other hate. This gem of a human being also wanted to let Occupy Wall Street know that he stands firmly in their corner. Glenn has more on radio today. Occupy Your Life T-shirt: Steve Jobs. Albert Einstein. Thomas Edison. Benjamin Franklin. All people who poured all their creative and scientific energy into changing the world, not protesting it. Don't waste time Occupying Wall Street. Occupy Your Life. Change the world. Check out the new t-shirt HERE.
Glenn slams anti-Semitic bigot caller On the heels of the David Duke segment Glenn received a truly disturbing call from a calculating and hate-filled individual. After stating that David Duke was one of his heroes, he went on several incoherent and bigoted rants while remaining eerily calm. Glenn pushed the caller to just come out and directly say he didn't want Jews around anymore -- and he actually did it. Listen to the shocking caller from radio today HERE. IT'S COMING: Glenn predicts things will continue to rapidly downgrade: BE PREPARED! Check out Glenn's list of the things you can do to be ready for anything HERE. Is Glenn coming to your city?
