George Washington Farewell Address
Date: September 19, 1796

Citizens by birth or choice of a common country, that country has a right to concentrate your affections. The name of American, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations.

Muslim Approach to Marriage Therapy

You'll no doubt be relieved to know the proper etiquette for wife beating in Islam.

We should expect no less from "the religion of peace."

Islam - Wife Beating Etiquette
Islam - Wife Beating Etiquette

Fellow patriots,

Remember the voter intimidation that took place in Philadelphia during the 2008 presidential election, perpetrated by Islamist front-group the New Black Panthers?  Remember how the case was at the point of conviction after being proven by videos of the intimidation, but Eric Holder dropped the case with NO explanation?  For a quick refresher, check out this Wall Street Journal article --> http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203550604574361071968458430.html

Well, now we know why.  The article below reveals that Barack Obama was literally standing shoulder to shoulder with the New Black Panthers.  This is yet another case of Obama and his administration supporting an Islamist front group.

While we may give credit to President Obama for going after Islamic terrorists, I have always believed that the terrorists are a kind of bad cop in a good cop/bad cop ploy.  The bad cop terrorists are meant to frighten us into the arms of the good cop "peaceful" Muslims who then tell us how we have to conform with an ever-increasing set of Islamic directives in order to avoid provoking the terrorists.

One of the results is this: While the Obama Administration has been taking out high profile terrorists, it has also been quietly giving high appointments to numerous Muslims with connections to "peaceful" Islamist front groups, such as:

There are many others; the links above are just what I was able to find with a half-hour search.  The bottom line is that, while Obama has been grabbing headlines with high profile assassinations of terrorists, Islamists have been steadily infiltrating the very heart of our government.  And the fact that we can't even prosecute the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation demonstrates the severity of the problem.

Photos: Obama marched with New Black Panthers

Appeared with notorious racist group while campaigning in Selma, Alabama

Posted: October 03, 2011 By Aaron Klein © 2011 WND

Newly resurfaced photographs show President Obama appearing and marching with members of the New Black Panther Party as he campaigned for president in Selma, Ala., in March 2007.

BigGovernment.com posted the photographs, reporting the images were captured from a Flickr photo-sharing account before they were scrubbed.

The photos are reportedly featured in a book set to be released tomorrow by J. Christian Adams, the Department of Justice whistleblower in the New Black Panther Party, or NBPP, voter intimidation case.

The book is titled "Injustice: Exposing the Racial Agenda of the Obama Justice Department."

Among the people visible in the pictures with Obama is NBPP Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz, a defendant in the voter intimidation case that Attorney General Eric Holder dismissed in 2009.

David Horowitz Freedom Center

David Horowitz  Luncheon & Book Signing

The Philadelphia Freedom Center is pleased to welcome our mentor and leader, David Horowitz to Philadelphia to speak about his new book, A Point in Time:The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next.

David shocked the political left when he abandoned 1960s radicalism to become a conservative.  Founder and current  president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, David is also founder and editor of FrontPage Magazine.  He also founded Students for Academic Freedom, Newsrealblog.com, Discoverthenetworks.com, and is the author of over 20  books.

A Point in Time:

The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next

Part memoir and part philosophical reflection, A Point in Time focuses on man's inevitable search for meaning - and how for those without religious belief, that search often leads to a faith in historical progress, one that is bound to disappoint. Horowitz agrees with Arcus Aurelius, whose stoic philosophy provides a focal point for the book, "He who has seen present things has seen all, both everything that has taken place from all eternity and everything that will be for time without end..."

Horowitz remembers his father; a political radical who put his faith in just such a redemptive future. He examines this hope through the other great figure who organizes these reflections, the Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky, whose writings foreshadowed the great tragedies of the social revolutions to come. Horowitz draws on eternal themes: the need we have to make sense out of the lives we have been given, our desire to repair the injustices we encounter, and the consequences of our mortality.

Interweaving episodes of his own life with the writings of the philosopher and the novelist, Horowitz explores how we provide meaning to an apparently senseless existence and the dire consequences that follow from seeking to redeem it by attempting to make a perfect world out of the imperfect one in which we find ourselves.

Training for members of Phoenixville and King of Prussia branches

If you're not already aware of it, the "Social Media" have become a routine way of communicating and exchanging ideas. Social media is now widely used - probably every elected representative in the state capitals and in Washington have their own Facebook and use Twitter.

Political action groups make extensive use of them, As do private individuals, companies and non-profit groups.

It's time for our own Tea Party to learn these tools and make use of them. For that reason, we've made arrangements for Daria DiGiovanni to conduct a hands on, how to session.

Daria has worked with a number of Tea Parties, teaching them social media as well as creating their web sites.

Training will be conducted in the King of Prussia area, and will consist of a single, three-hour session. Day and time to be announced. There will be a small cost - we're working out the details, but it's likely to be $10 or less, and will be held within the next 30 days. We don't know if this training will be offered again in the foreseeable future.

Please respond to this email immediately so we can plan and schedule the training.

Davis will address.  He is the author of the popular Don't Know Much About... book series as well as America's Hidden History: Untold Tales of the First Pilgrims, Fighting Women, and Forgotten Founders Who Shaped a Nation and  A Nation Rising: Untold Tales of Flawed Founders, Fallen Heroes, and Forgotten Fighters from America's Hidden History.

Property Tax Reform and the Cost of Education - An Outstanding Round Table Discussion

THE BIG PICTURE ON PROPERTY TAX REFORM AND THE COST OF EDUCATING OUR CHILDREN!!

Our round table of three outstanding speakers: Nathan Benfield, David Baldinger and Dr. Richard Brake

THE COST OF EDUCATION GOES UP, UP, UP AND OUR PROPERTY TAXES KEEP GOING UP, UP, UP!  WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CHANGE THIS?

No discussion on property tax reform is complete without talking about what it is costing to educate our children and whether or not they are getting the education they deserve, according to Nathan Benfield, Director of Policy Analysis for the Commonwealth Foundation.  Nate has researched and written on public policy issues including taxation, government spending, education reform and transportation funding. He has frequently provided testimony to Pennsylvania House and Senate committees on various issues including education.

David Baldinger a full-time volunteer for the Pennsylvania Coalition of Taxpayer Associations (PCTA) will be with us to explain the School Property Tax Elimination Plan that permanently eliminates all school district property taxes as well as eliminating local school district earned income taxes (EIT). PCTA says Statewide, current school district budgets increase, on average, at twice the rate of inflation! And, "no tax should have the power to leave you homeless". David started this work in 2004 and since has become one of PA's leading experts on the subject.

Dr. Richard Brake is the Director of Educational Programs at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI), a non-profit educational foundation with a mission to "Educate for Liberty"- by inspiring college students to discover and embrace principles that make America prosperous, moral, and free. Dr. Brake lives in Berwyn with his family and is currently an elective member of the TE school board. Dr. Brake has documented the failure of America's top universities to teach students the founding history, texts, and institutions of our constitutional republic. His commentary on this disturbing trend has appeared in media outlets nationwide.

Thomas Jefferson: "Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers....a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."

But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it's been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

Judical Watch is Demanding Answers  Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:

"The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2

But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.

True the Vote

We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action?   True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step.  For more information email  info@truethevote.org or go  HERE  to sign up now!

Agenda 21 In One Easy Lesson

Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked.

So here it is. A one page, quick description of Agenda 21 that fits on one page. I've also included for the back side of your hand out a list of quotes for the perpetrators of Agenda 21 that should back up my brief descriptions.

A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. Research, know your details; discover the NGO players in your community; identify who is victimized by the policies and recruit them to your fight; and then kill Agenda 21. That's how it must be done. The information below is only your first step. Happy hunting.

What is Sustainable Development?

Agenda 21 and have any updates that may have come from the U.N. or local sustainable development  . . . don't forget hay is now deemed a pollutant by the EPA . . . no hay, no crops, no animals, no food.   We will also be showing a movie on U.N. Agenda 21: The Death Knell of Liberty

 By Jim O'Neill  Monday, October 12, 2009

Agenda 21: The Death Knell of LibertyFirst published October 12, 2009
Rewritten and re-published October 17, 2009

"The common enemy of humanity is man.  In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill.  ...The real enemy then is humanity itself.
Democracy is no longer well suited for the tasks ahead." -From the Club of Rome's "The First Global Revolution" p. 71,75 1993

"Therefore, send not to know for whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee."-John Donne (1572-1631)

The death knell for freedom has been tolling for some time, and only now are people starting to hear it.  It started tolling faintly, decades back, and has slowly progressed in volume, until today its tolling is impossible to ignore.

Pre-Order Atlas Shrugged Now!

Earlier this year, I urged you to go to theaters to see Atlas Shrugged: Part One and share its message of limited government, free markets and individual liberty with family, friends and neighbors. Based on Ayn Rand's classic novel written in 1957, Atlas Shrugged: Part One was immediately celebrated as a "made for Tea Party film."

The film is now finally set for its much-anticipated release on DVD. As a FreedomWorks member, you can pre-order a limited edition version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One featuring special bonus features from FreedomWorks. Pre-order It Now!

Atlas Shrugged: Part One is set in a not-so-distant future in which government has taken control of businesses, bureaucrats have impose burdensome regulations on the economy and entrepreneurs are rapidly disappearing from society. Their disappearances are all linked to a man named John Galt, a mysterious figure who leaves this desperate world wondering: "Who is John Galt?"

I know many of our members were disappointed that Atlas Shrugged: Part One, a film that had been attempted and scrapped numerous times since the novel debuted over 50 years ago, didn't play in a theater in their area. The release of this limited edition FreedomWorks version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One DVD is a great opportunity to own a part of film history. Get It Now.

As I've said before, Atlas Shrugged: Part One has the opportunity to introduce millions more around the world to the philosophy of freedom. This DVD is a great gift for family and friends who care about the principles of limited government, free markets and individual liberty. Give A Gift.

While activists have many reasons for getting involved in this grassroots movement-TARP, the stimulus, ObamaCare-I know that for me I wasn't initially motivated by a piece of legislation or a midterm election. My conversion happened many years ago when I picked up a dog-eared copy of the 1,000 page tome we know as Ayn Rand's masterpiece, Atlas Shrugged.

That's the power of this book and this film. Pre-order It Now.

In Liberty,

RedState Morning Briefing

For October 5, 2011

1. The Occupy Wall Street Fools

Fools and their money are soon parted. We are witnessing many of these fools go to Wall Street to blame Wall Street for their money leaving them unwilling or unable to recognize themselves for fools.

If you want to see how foolish these people are, consider their demands, which range from nuts to pure insanity.

One of the demands that sums it up negative taxation - the government actually paying people who do not work. It's like a bunch of white kids from the suburbs shot themselves full of gardasil or something. Yeah, that joke is not getting old. You get what I mean.

Well, these people apparently forgot that life is not fair and are demanding the government intervene to legislate that life suddenly become fair. They are claiming to be the "99%" against the evil 1% of rich people who work on Wall Street. They are posting pictures to a website holding up their sob stories. Some are terribly tragic, but most? Boo-freakin'-hoo. Life is not, never has been, and never will be fair.

I would like to point out to these people that I work three jobs, can't sell my house in this economy, still am paying massive student loans, and somehow or another do not blame Wall Street for my situation. In fact, I'm one of the 53% - the 54% of Americans subsidizing these people so they can go hang out on Wall Street to complain.

Get a job hippies!

2. This Is Why America Is Not Creating New Jobs

George Stephanoupolos asked Barack Obama about banks and their new fees. Of course, Obama could not accept any responsibility for that at all. And along the way he said something pretty damn amazing.

This:

"You don't have some inherent right just to- you know, get a certain amount of profit."

Actually, in the free market, on the supply and demand curve, you do have an inherent right to get a certain amount of profit - that certain amount of profit that you derive from your business practices that draw in the maximum amount of profit possible before customers decide you are charging too much or they are not getting value enough to justify their continued business with you.

3. Confirmed: We have a three way race for now

First it was one national poll, and we could wait and see. Then it was a pair of state polls, and we could hold on for one more national poll.

But after the new ABC News/Washington Post poll, there's no denying it. For now we have a three way Republican Presidential race between Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, and Herman Cain.

4. David Brooks Likes The Crease of Mitt Romney's Pants

I could hardly sum up more pithily the problem with Mitt Romney's candidacy in four words than "David Brooks loves him." Brooks' column today is revealingly out of step with the party and the nation Romney is seeking to lead.

Let's start with what's missing from Brooks' description of the job Romney is applying for.

5. Attrition Through Enforcement Immigration Policy Works in Alabama

Proponents of illegal immigration and open borders are constantly propagating a straw-man argument for amnesty that offers false policy choices. They contend that "we cannot possibly send back the illegals without physically deporting every one of them, and therefore, we are forced to grant them amnesty, in addition to a 'pathway to citizenship.' Those with some sense of sanity have always realized that the source of the problem is our incentivizing of illegal behavior, and that a concerted effort to enforce the laws would drain the illegal population through "attrition by enforcement."

Now Alabama is showing the rest of the country how we can solve the problem simply by enforcing the laws on the books, or, more accurately, performing the job that the federal government refuses to do.

6. Regaining Control When Your Congressman is Out of Control

Starting last week and each week from here on, I've decided to focus on a Republican in the House or Senate the Tea Party should consider primarying. I think we are too distracted by Presidential politics and cannot afford to keep on keeping on in the House and Senate.

Last week I started with Martha Roby. This week, another one. Each week, based on finding pitiful scores in the Heritage Action for America rankings and considering the districts at stake, I'll highlight a new one. This should be fun.

INTERVIEW: J. Christian Adams, author of "Injustice: Exposing the Racial Agenda of the Obama Justice Department"

On Election Day in 2008, armed members of the New Black Panther Party, King Samir Shabazz and Jerry Jackson adopted a menacing and intimidating stance as they stood at the entrance to a polling center in Philadelphia shouting that America would be ruled by a black man. The event was captured on camera and posted on the internet. After the election, J.Christian Adams, then attorney for the Voting Rights Section of the Department of Justice and other DOJ lawyers brought a voter intimidation case against them.

The New Black Panther Party ignored the suit and in May of 2009 the lawyers were ordered to dismiss the case in spite of clear evidence that an outrageous violation of federal law had occurred. After continual stonewalling by the Justice Department, on May 14th, 2010 J.Christian Adams sent a letter of resignation to become effective on June 4th, 2010.

The ACLU now the Islamists' B#T%H,: attacks Christianity, sues to force Muslim prayer in schools

Oct 04, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

The bully is now the bullied. The ACLU has traded one master (liberalism) for another - Islam. They are far more frightened of their new masters' swords than Christians' pens.   The ACLU has tipped its hand giving us positive proof of what we always thought they were: feckless twerps and enemies of our freedoms.

Since their pinup girl Madelyn Murray O'Hare forced God out of our government schools, the ACLU has been on a relentless crusade to "cleanse" our public and private lives of anything THEY deem violations of their idea of the relationship between Church and State.

If a high school football team in Texas wants to pray before a game, the ACLU is right there threatening a costly lawsuit against the school, the school district and the coach as an individual defendant. They seem never to miss an opportunity to destroy the influence of God and promote atheism using intimidation as their ... Will forced Obamacare abortions finally wake Catholics up about the Fraud in the Straw Hat?

Oct 03, 2011 02:17 pm | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

For discerning Catholics watching other Catholic voters support Barack Obama 54 /45 in 2008 set up an inevitable "I told you so", but no joy in being right.

While we knew very very little about who Obama was at that time, since his election what has become known about him can best be elicited by bringing to mind the picture of a young dope smoking Barack Obama wearing a straw and a Cheshire Cat grin. The picture of the 22 year old Obama foretold his "I'm gonna stick it to you America" attitude we now live with everyday. That picture should be titled "The Fraud in the Straw Hat."

Now the Fraud in the Straw Hat IS sticking it to us, and it's the Catholics' turn in the barrel.  Because people like Cardinal George of Chicago who, as both the Bishop of Chicago (where Obama is reportedly from), and as head ... Fellow patriots,

This article is an important teaching moment for anyone who is still struggling to understand why Islam is fundamentally incompatible with the American freedoms embodied in the U.S. Constitution.  PLEASE FORWARD IT TO OTHERS!

The reason Islam is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution is because Islam's definition of "religion" is different from ours.  For us, and for every practitioner of a major religion other than Islam as well as our Constitution, religion represents a combination of beliefs and practices that can be separated from governance.  Even in the case of Judaism, Talmudic law does not attempt to impose harsh penalties for violations in defiance of the U.S. Constitution, and it does not try to impose itself on non-Jews.

Islam is unique because Muslims practice their religion by following Islamic law, imposing it on Muslims and non-Muslims alike.  Shariah also has severe penalties and grants permission to vigilantes to impose it on others at-will, as Salman Rushdie can attest.

In the article below, terrorism supporter Amina Farah Ali has defied the American court that's trying her for from the outset.  However, this does not mean that she's crazy.  It means that she is simply doing what the tenets of Islam tell her to do.  She is refusing to bow down to the power of the infidel American justice system.

I respect her courage, and suggest that we take her suggestion seriously when she says (through a translator because she still doesn't know English, even though she became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2004), "When I came to this country, I was told I'd have freedom of religion.  If I am not allowed to do so, you can kick me out of this country."

My answer to her is this:

In America, you have freedom of religion according to the way WE define religion, not according to YOUR definition.  You cannot have freedom of religion as you define it because your "freedom of religion" is actually "freedom of law," where you get to live by your own laws instead of the laws of our nation.  This is a recipe for recreating the very chaos you sought to escape when you left Somalia and came to the United States.  Now that you've made clear that you'd prefer to live under your own law, we will gladly send you back to the country that defines religion the same way you do: Somalia.

And that goes for anyone else who wants to live under Shariah law in the United States.

Dave

U.S. woman facing Somalia terror case arrested

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A woman on trial for allegedly funneling money to a terrorist group in Somalia was found in contempt of court Monday when she refused to stand for the judge and jury, citing religious grounds.

Chief U.S. District Judge Michael Davis found Amina Farah Ali in contempt for failing to stand as court convened and recessed several times during the day, and later sentenced her to 50 days in jail.

He also ordered Ali to be detained for the duration of the trial because of her "behavior in this courtroom." She had been released pending trial as long as she did not violate any laws, but in a written order on Monday, Davis said Ali violated the law when she failed to rise and he revoked her release.

Ali, 35, and her co-defendant, Hawo Mohamed Hassan, 64, are accused of being part of what prosecutors called a "deadly pipeline" that sent more than $8,600 and fighters from the U.S. to Somalia.

Egyptian Copts Running for Their Lives

[ISN'T THE ARAB SPRING LOVELY]
by Raymond Ibrahim, Jihad Watch

Historically, non-Muslims whose lands were seized by the jihad had three choices: conversion, dhimmitude, or death. Today, however, they have a fourth option largely unavailable to their forbears: quit their lands of origin-emigrate-the latest testimony to the nature of Islam.

A recent report indicates that unprecedented numbers of Copts, Egypt's indigenous Christian population, are emigrating from their homeland in response to the so-called "Arab spring":

The Egyptian Union of Human Rights Organizations (EUHRO) published a report today on emigration of Christians from Egypt, saying that nearly 100,000 Christians have emigrated since March 2011. The report, which was sent to the Egyptian cabinet and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), warned that this emigration has been prompted by the escalating intimidation and attacks on Christians by Islamists. "Copts are not...

I just received this from the Middle East. WARNING - IT IS A GRAPHIC - VERY GRAPHIC- SLIDE SHOW, depicting actual photos from the time of the Armenian Genocide as well as a few from northern Cyprus. Yet the world is largely silent. NO TURKISH government, be it the Ottoman government, the secular government and now the crypto-Islamist government of Erdogan has admitted to perpetrating this slaughter.

America keeps pushing

by Isi Leibler
October 3, 2011

The serious impact of the US administration's fierce condemnation of a routine municipal approval for construction of 1100 homes in the Jerusalem suburb of Gilo must not be underestimated.

It is crucial that Americans and the global community are made aware that Gilo is not a settlement outpost. For 40 years nobody ever challenged the fact that Gilo belongs to Jewish Jerusalem. It is a 100% Jewish populated suburb of south western Jerusalem located minutes from the heart of the city. During the second intifada it was under sniper fire from terrorists located in the adjoining Arab suburb of Bet Jala. It is as much part of Jerusalem as the suburbs of Rehavia or Katamon. To deny that Gilo is part of Israel is akin to denying that Tel Aviv is part of Israel.

To even hint that Obama's formulation of 1967 borders means that we are obliged to "negotiate with the Palestinians" over Gilo, would simply be inconceivable. It would...

German Multiculturalists Declare War on Critics of Islam

by Soeren Kern, HUDSON NY

The German government is debating whether to increase surveillance of German citizens who are trying to prevent the spread of radical Islam in Germany.

The move comes in reaction to a three-week-long smear campaign by members of the German mainstream media, who have been relentless in their efforts to discredit the so-called counter-jihad movement in Germany.

Opinion polls show that growing numbers of Germans are worried about the consequences of decades of multicultural policies that have encouraged mass immigration from Muslim countries.

Germans are especially concerned about the refusal of millions of Muslim immigrants to integrate into German society, and about the emergence of a parallel legal system in Germany based on Islamic Sharia law.

In an effort to reverse this tide of public opinion, the guardians of German multiculturalism have been working overtime to regain the initiative, mostly by trying to intimidate the critics of Islam into...

A creative way to disrespect Israel

September 06, 2011

You know what hurts as much as America's new mood of twitchy anxiety? We're losing our habit of "good."

The difference between America and a Cuba that jails an ill-and-innocent Alan Gross and an Iran that imprisons three obviously innocent hikers who strayed across their unmarked border has been narrowed by an official American act of such brutishness that I wish I could run full-page ads in the major newspapers of Haiti and Israel disassociating myself from this foul deed.

The drama begins with the earthquake in Haiti early last year that took 200,000 lives. Haiti's salsa dance champion, Gheorghes Exantus, was pinned down for three whole days beneath the rubble of his apartment building. Friends found him and dug him out.

The world may have forgotten and the World Brotherhood of Jew-Haters is not likely to remind us, but little Israel had the best medical team in Haiti. The Israeli doctors and paramedics and the equipment they brought along made Haiti temporarily the most modern medical center south of the USA. That's where they took Gheorghes.

Bolton on Awlaki: "the struggle against jihadism is not over"

Any candidate who doesn't confer with Ambassador Bolton and name him to his/her cabinet will not and should not get the GOP nod.

Anwar al-Awlaki and the US's long war on al-Qaida By John Bolton The Guardian October 3, 2011

What George Bush started, Barack Obama has completed: he should take credit. But the struggle against jihadism is not over

The well-deserved death of Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen continues a string of recent battlefield losses for al-Qaida, the most notable being Osama bin Laden at the hands of Seal Team Six. Decapitating the enemy's leadership is an ancient tactic of warfare, and US intelligence and strike technology has brought it to new heights.

But despite our well-deserved jubilation when another terrorist rightfully meets his maker, the global war against Awlaki's ilk is far from over. Understanding what his death does and doesn't mean has consequences extending far beyond one enemy combatant's demise.

Al-Qaida calls on Ahmadinejad to end 9/11 conspiracy theories Guardian September 28, 2011 (hat tip FrontPage)

In its English language magazine Al-Qaida has reportedly called on Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to stop citing conspiracy theories that the US was to blame behind 9/11.

Al-Qaida has sent a message to the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, asking him to stop spreading conspiracy theories about the 9/11 attacks.

Iranian media on Wednesday reported quotes from what appears to be an article published in the latest issue of the al-Qaida English language magazine, Inspire, which described Ahmadinejad's remarks over the 11 September attacks as "ridiculous".

Starbucks says 100 percent of the donations will go toward loans for firms and organizations that can add jobs or stem job losses.

Nice Bank You Have Here...

Posted: 04 Oct 2011 03:12 PM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

...a shame if anything should happen to it! The Democrats took gangster government to a new level today with attacks on Bank of America by Dick Durbin and President Obama. The attacks arise out of the Durbin Amendment to Dodd-Frank, which, as we wrote here, directed the Fed to fix the fees which banks can charge for debit card transactions. The rate set by the Fed is inadequate and will take something like $14 billion out of the pockets of major banks. So a number of banks, including Bank of America, have announced that they will replace the lost revenue by charging a monthly fee for debit cards; in BoA's case, $5. Even though this was entirely predictable (and was in fact predicted), it has enraged the Democrats.

Speaking in the Senate, Durbin encouraged customers to desert BoA and go somewhere else:

Bank of America customers, vote with your feet, get the heck out of that bank. Find yourself a bank or credit union that won't gouge you for $5 a month and still will give you a debit card that you can use every single day. What Bank of America has done is an outrage.

Here is video of Durbin's speech:

Reporters: How Reasonable Can They Get?

Posted: 04 Oct 2011 02:45 PM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

This almost made me laugh out loud: via Mark Hemingway at the Weekly Standard, reporter Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News, who is covering the Fast and Furious scandal, is being screamed at by the White House because she isn't helping to cover it up. Attkisson was interviewed on Laura Ingraham's radio show:

Ingraham: So they were literally screaming at you?

Attkisson: Yes. Well the DOJ woman was just yelling at me. The guy from the White House on Friday night literally screamed at me and cussed at me. [Laura: Who was the person? Who was the person at Justice screaming?] Eric Schultz. Oh, the person screaming was [DOJ spokeswoman] Tracy Schmaler, she was yelling not screaming. And the person who screamed at me was Eric Schultz at the White House. ...

[The White House and Justice Department] will tell you that I'm the only reporter-as they told me-that is not reasonable. They say the Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, the New York Times is reasonable, I'm the only one who thinks this is a story, and they think I'm unfair and biased by pursuing it.

It is a terrible thing when a reporter violates the conspiracy of reasonableness. Audio at the link.

Justice Stevens: Good Riddance

Posted: 04 Oct 2011 10:32 AM PDT

(Steven Hayward)

I think it was George Will who noted back in the 1980s that Republican presidents have been especially incompetent at appointing Supreme Court justices, such as William Brennan, Earl Warren, Harry Blackmun, and David Souter, but John Paul Stevens (appointed by Gerald Ford) is clearly in the running for the bottom rung of the ladder. His retirement was a thing much to be welcomed, even if it meant being replaced by a standard-label liberal by Obama.

There was a segment on Stevens this morning on NPR's "Morning Edition" (yes, I was slumming it again) which shows why he was so clueless in his jurisprudence.  He rejected the idea that the "original intent" of the framers of the Constitution could be any guide to the Supreme Court today. But in doing so he displayed his abysmal ignorance of the very original intent he so breezily dismissed.  Let's go to the tape, as they say:

Why We Love Hillsdale

Posted: 04 Oct 2011 08:46 AM PDT

(Steven Hayward)

I'm at Hillsdale College today, lecturing on "The Education of Ronald Reagan" as part of Hillsdale's fall conference of their Center for Constructive Alternatives," which is quite naturally observing Reagan's centennial.

There are lots of reasons to love Hillsdale, of course, but there's one more on the program for the conference today: an afternoon segment on "Shooting Instruction at Hillsdale College," with Hillsdale's NRA-certified shooting instructor Bartley Spieth.

How many colleges in America proudly showcase shooting instruction?  For that matter, if, say, Brown University's student council hears about this, how quickly can they pass a resolution deploring it?

Meeting Young Obama

By John Drew
My first meeting with young Barack Obama raised strong feelings and left me with a positive first impression.  At the time, I felt I'd persuaded a young man anticipating a Marxist-Leninist revolution to appreciate the more practical alternative of conventional politics as a channel for his socialist views.

I met Obama in December of 1980, a couple of days after Christmas, in Portola Valley -- a small town near Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.  I was a 23 year old second-year graduate student in Cornell's Government Department, and had flown to California to visit a 21 year old girlfriend, Caroline Boss. Boss was a senior at Occidental College, where she had taken a class in the fall of 1980 with political theorist Roger Boesche.  She met and befriended Obama in that class.

I had been an angry Marxist revolutionary during my undergraduate career at Occidental College.  During my hyperactive sophomore year, in the fall of 1976, I founded the Marxist-Socialist group on campus and named it the Political Awareness Fellowship.  As I recall, I developed this innocuous sounding name because there were so few students on campus as radical as I, and I was fearful of turning off moderate students who might be willing to learn more about Marxist theory.

Time to Reboot America

 By Jim O'Neill  Sunday, July 17, 2011

image"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."

"We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men."

-George Orwell, author of "1984" (1903-1950)

I originally titled this article as a query, "Time To Reboot America?," but after a little thought realized that there is no question-it is past time to reboot America. By "reboot" I mean that it is time for "we the people" to avail ourselves of the instructions left to us by the Founders:

Gramsci's Grand Plan   by

Father Thornton has done us all a service with his analysis of the communist threat. Force has been replaced by treachery and infiltration. NB The comments are worth reading too.

Gramsci's Grand Plan   The New American ^| July 5, 1999 | Fr. James Thornton

Posted on 16 January 2003 by Tailgunner Joe
One of the most interesting aspects of the study of history is that very often men born in the most humble of circumstances nevertheless rise up to affect the course of human history dramatically. They may be men of action or men of thought, yet in either case their activities can father tremendous changes across the years. Antonio Gramsci was both a man of action and thought and, whatever the outcome of the events of the next several decades, he will almost certainly be reckoned by future historians to have been a remarkable figure.

Born in obscurity on the island of Sardinia in 1891, Gramsci would not have been considered a prime candidate to impact significantly the 20th century. Gramsci studied philosophy and history at the University of Turin, and soon became a dedicated Marxist, joining the Italian Socialist Party. Immediately after the First World War, he established his own radical newspaper, The New Order, and shortly afterwards helped in the founding of the Italian Communist Party.

Anonymous Threatens to 'Erase NYSE from the Internet'

October 3, 2011

Anonymous declared "war" on the New York Stock Exchange this weekend and vowed to "erase" the NYSE from the Internet on Oct. 10 as the Occupy Wall Street protest entered its third week in New York City after a weekend that saw hundreds of protesters arrested during a planned march across the Brooklyn Bridge.

"On Oct. 10, NYSE shall be erased from the Internet. On Oct. 10, expect a day that will never, ever be forgotten," intoned a computer-generated male voice common to many Anonymous videos, in a warning posted on TheAnonMessage YouTube channel (video below).

The AnonMessage channel has been used to post several Occupy Wall Street-related video messages since the protest against lax regulation of the financial sector and growing economic inequality began on Sept. 17. Those messages include Anonymous' initial "official" video regarding Occupy Wall Street and a warning sent last week to the New York Police Department that threatened retaliation if "the brutality does not stop" against Occupy Wall Street protestors

The Return of Van Jones and Marxist Street Protests

Posted: 03 Oct 2011 07:51 PM PDT

By: Cliff Kincaid
Accuracy in Media

A "Take Back the American Dream" three-day conference in Washington begins on Monday that features Van Jones, the disgraced former Obama Administration "Green Jobs Czar," a Russian TV star, and a veteran of the Venceremos Brigades to Cuba who works for the AFL-CIO. Such is the nature of the modern progressive movement.

"I think everybody should hold onto your seats," said Jones on Thursday's MSNBC program "The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell."

"October is going to be the turning point when it comes to the progressive fight back," he went on. "We are a part of something called the American Dream Movement. We`re having a huge summit on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Come-you can go to rebuildthedream.com and find out more about it. We are going to build a progressive counterbalance to the Tea Party."

Once a top figure in a Marxist group called Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), Jones predicts "an American fall, an American autumn, just like we saw the Arab spring. You can see it right now with these young people on Wall Street. Hold onto your hats. We`re going to have an October offensive to take back the American Dream and to rescue America`s middle class."

The Campaign for America's Future, sponsor of the conference, depicts the conservative Tea Party as a puppet of corporate interests and protests Wall Street but remains silent about the millions of dollars that Van Jones and other progressive activists have received from hedge fund operator George Soros. Number seven on the Forbes list of the richest people in America, with $22 billion, Soros runs an "alternative investment vehicle" available only to the super-rich which is based off-shore and taps into mysterious sources of cash beyond the supervision of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Back to the Future! - 60's Radicalism Re-visited

Two fascinating docos on '60s radicalism. If you can stand the arrogance and self importance of some of those interviewed, you will gain a lot of insight into what is happening to America today.

These people tried and failed to destroy America in the 1960s.

While America went to sleep in the Reagan and Bush years, these people rose to leadership positions in education, academia, the media, labor unions, etc.

Now they are trying to finish the job they started in their youth.

Some great speeches by a youthful looking Ronald Reagan in the first video. Also some excellent protest songs. I loved the music, if not the movement.

The Power of Weakness

Weakness is one of the greatest forms of power imaginable in the modern West. Weakness grants irresponsibility for personal actions and more importantly in a collectivist society, it provides freedom from for the collective burdens of society and civilization.

The weak are not responsible for their actions. They can rob, kill and rape, and still be excused for it . They can blow up buildings, behead prisoners and get sympathetic nods. Because they had no choice.

Weakness is helplessness, it implies irresponsibility because the weak are not capable of making their own choices. Their choices have been made for them by the "Man", the "Patriarchy", the "Privileged" and the "Military-Industrial Complex"-- all different names for the defined power structure and the people who are responsible for it.

Since the choices have been made for them, they have no choice but to lash out. When they kill, it is not an action, but a reaction.

To the people being raped or murdered by them, the ones jumping from buildings and coming to claim the pieces of their children at the morgue afterward, they do not appear to be helpless at all. But that is only because the people being raped and murdered, and waiting to identify a small can of their child's remains are privileged. So privileged that they don't know how responsible they are for the state of affairs which caused them to be raped or murdered. Which caused their children to end up in coffee cans.

House passes spending stopgap, sends to Obama
By Pete Kasperowicz

The House on Tuesday afternoon easily approved a stopgap bill funding the federal government through November 18, and sent it to President Obama for his signature.

The measure enjoyed broad bipartisan support, a result that was expected after both parties last week found a way around a fight over how much to fund the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The continuing resolution was approved in a 352-66 vote in which all but about a dozen Democrats voted "yes," a far cry from the six Democrats who supported an earlier version of the bill last month.

Heritage Action for America Why We Fight

A-PLUS Education Reform

We hear a lot these days about government over-regulation in the business community, but not enough focus is given to government over-regulation in education. Programs like No Child Left Behind (NCLB), which is just one of 150 government-run education programs, impose a top-down bureaucracy that restricts real education.

Because state and local governments know best, Congress should pass a proposal called the Academic Partnerships Lead Us to Success Act, or A-PLUS. It allows states to opt out of NCLB's bureaucracy, putting the power of education back into the hands of the states, local governments and parents.

>> Learn more: See how A-PLUS can benefit children across the country.

As Rep. John Kline (R-MN) said in April:

"If we are going to move forward in education, Washington has to move in a new direction, States and schools should be able to set their own innovative priorities and receive maximum flexibility to advance those priorities."

We're calling on Members of Congress to co-sponsor A-PLUS. It's time for Washington to get out of the way and let those closest to the students decide how best to educate them.

Sincerely,

Michael A. Needham

Who Needs Elections?

North Carolina's Governor Bev Perdue suggested suspending elections to allow lawmakers to solve America's problems without considering Americans' opinions. Peter Orszag, former head of the Office of Management and Budget, could not agree more. In his recent piece in The New Republic, Orszag also bemoaned political accountability: "We might be a healthier democracy if we were a slightly less democratic one." Orszag's remedy for political gridlock about weighty policy issues? Let the experts decide. President Obama has taken this advice to heart, relying on unaccountable bureaucrats to implement the provisions of Obamacare and employing executive waivers to bypass Congress on education reform.

The Left's distaste for democracy is hardly new. Since the early 20th century, Progressives have transformed the purpose of government and transferred the functions of government from the elected political branches to unelected experts in the largely unaccountable administrative state. The administrative state is premised on the idea that unelected experts would make better policies than the people's elected representatives would. As a result, countless experts in the fourth branch of government are empowered to make rules and regulations governing every aspect of American life: from light bulbs to financial services.

To justify suspending elections and transferring the powers of government into the hands of unelected bureaucrats, today's progressives claim to carry the mantle of the Founders: Orszag invokes John Adams's comment that "there never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide." But, Orszag's appeal to Adams is misplaced. The Founders did not oppose government accountability; they opposed pure democracy as unstable, susceptible to demagoguery, and inconsistent with self-government.

Consent is the basis of the Framers' system of government. To guard against hasty legislation unduly influenced by momentary passions, the Framers empowered a bicameral legislature to make laws: the more dynamic House represents the interests of local communities; the more stable Senate represents the interests of the states. The unitary executive enforces the laws with efficiency and energy. The Electoral College ensures that the President is a national figure, elected by the people through their state electors. The judiciary hears controversies arising from the application of federal law. The President, with the advice and consent of the Senate, appoints members of this branch.

The Founders established a federal republic with a separation of powers designed to ensure both proper deliberation and effective accountability. The Constitution sets forth the process by which elected officials deliberate and settle even polarizing policy disputes. The solution for policy disputes is not suspending elections or decreasing political accountability by empowering more bureaucrats-it's rethinking the wisdom of the policies.

2012 Update

  • New Jersey Governor Chris Christie finally ended all the speculation. At a press conference this afternoon in Trenton, Christie declared that now is not his time. Christie's decision is no doubt a huge relief to Mitt Romney, who many analysts assumed would lose the most from another moderate Northeastern governor jumping into the race.
  • Speaking of Mitt Romney, a new round of polling puts him back in the lead for the GOP nomination. Polls by Fox News, ABC and Quinnipiac University show Romney holding steady with approximately a quarter of the primary vote, while Perry is below 20% and essentially tied with Herman Cain for second place. (The Quinnipiac poll found Cain leading Perry 17% to 14%.)

RealClearPolitics.com (RCP) calculates the average support for each candidate from all the major polls since last November. While the RCP averages for Romney (23.3%) and Perry (21.2%) are statistically insignificant, what is significant is the trajectory of the current top tier contenders.

Romney's support has remained static -- 22.6% in November 2010 and 23% today. Perry has lost 10 points since September 12th. And as Perry has slipped in the polls, Herman Cain has surged to become the only other candidate in double digits. Three weeks ago, Cain's RCP average was just 4.2%. Today it is 13%.

Can Perry regroup and recover? Can Cain sustain his momentum? Will any of the other candidates catch fire? Is "RomneyCare" less toxic to conservatives than Perry's position on immigration? What will Sarah Palin do? Stay tuned...

Scandals Growing

Amid new evidence that Attorney General Eric Holder misled Congress about his knowledge of Operation Fast and Furious, House Judiciary Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) renewed calls for the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate what Holder knew and when.

Holder initially told Congress that he only learned about the program this year. But CBS News revealed yesterday that Holder was briefed about Fast and Furious more than a year ago.

In addition, there are new reports that the White House was well aware of the financial train wreck it was facing with the now-bankrupt solar company Solyndra. Something definitely stinks here.

The Bush Administration refused to lend money to Solyndra. Obama not only gave the company taxpayer money, he doubled down on that bad bet. Unbelievably, Energy Secretary Steven Chu approved more money for Solyndra even after it had technically defaulted!

Wait a minute... this sounds familiar. That's right -- Obama is demanding another massive stimulus bill even though the unemployment rate is higher now after his last spending binge! Socialists never learn.

Democrats Demand Tax Hikes

As the bi-cameral, bi-partisan "super committee" on deficit reduction begins its work, Reuters reported this weekend that Democrats have started making demands. I'm sure you will be shocked to learn that Democrats on the super committee "want tax hikes to be the first item negotiated."

Of course this should surprise no one. We've been down this road before and it's always the same dead-end: The Big Government crowd always demands more tax revenue in exchange for promised spending cuts that never materialize.

Let me repeat: The problem is not revenue, it's spending. Last year a Tax Foundation study found that tax rates would have to almost triple across-the-board in order to balance the budget with tax increases alone. The bottom tax rate would go from 10% to 24%. The 25% tax rate would jump to 61% and the top rate would skyrocket from 35% to 85%!

Unfortunately, liberals always start with the position that all money belongs to Big Government, which is why they want to talk about raising your taxes first. This is just one more example of what is at stake in the 2012 elections!

Is The Left Coming Alive?

Keep an eye on the "Occupy Wall Street" protests, my friends. They are now spreading to other major cities across the United States. Today's Washington Post reports that "similar protests are springing up in Boston, Los Angeles and Chicago." A march is scheduled Thursday here in Washington, D.C.

It is tempting to dismiss them at first glance. As I noted yesterday, the movement is divided and incoherent. With George W. Bush gone, the left didn't have a clue what do with itself. And it wasn't prepared for the Tea Party movement that sprang up to push back against Obama's agenda.

But the radical left is slowly unifying under a common theme of class warfare and anti-capitalism. (Some protestors even dressed up like zombies, suggesting that capitalism and the American Dream are dead.) Now the protests are earning praise from George Soros and attracting the interest of some in Big Labor.

It's hard to imagine that there is much appetite for this in America today. But all indications suggest that Obama's reelection strategy is to wage a bitter campaign based on division and class warfare, hoping to fire up the left-wing base of the Democrat Party, including disaffected socialists and radicals like those now taking to the streets.

The Post noted that one 21-year-old quit his job so he could join the mob in New York protesting against joblessness. (I'm not joking!) These folks are still waiting for the "fundamental transformation" of America that Obama promised. They overwhelmingly backed Obama in 2008, and he needs them to turn out in massive numbers if he hopes to win again in 2012. Progressives like Van Jones see these protests as an opportunity to galvanize the left for the upcoming elections.

My friends, I know there are some encouraging poll numbers out today regarding Obama's chances next year. But you're not going to read about them here. Why? Because we can't take anything for granted! No matter what the polls say today, it is impossible to predict what the political landscape will look like one year from now. If the left truly is coming alive, complacency could be our worst enemy.

I don't want Barack Obama to narrowly win reelection because conservatives took the race for granted. I want Obama to lose in a landslide because all conservatives worked their hearts out!

Idiotic Demands of the Wall Street Protestors:

Occupy Wall Street

Proposed List Of Demands For Occupy Wall St Movement!

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

Dear Concerned Patriot,

Late last week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
took what is being called "the final step" towards implementing
their illegal Net Neutrality regulations.

You may recall, that back on December 21, the FCC bypassed
government regulations and seized control of the Internet --
delivering what many believe is a knockout blow to one of
the last, great free-market frontiers our nation and the
world has ever seen.

According to the organization Less Government, regardless
of a multiple lawsuits, a move by the House of Representatives
and a D.C. Circuit Court unanimously ruling that the FCC
had no authority to take control, the fed is still
arrogantly pushing forward toward full implementation of
their Net Neutrality regulations on November 20!

The FCC's Net Neutrality regulations would be job-killers --
likely stifling the $30 billion annually that investors
pour into Internet development and advancement and hundreds
of thousands of jobs.

And that's not the worst of it... As we warned several months
ago, these regulations will lead to the FCC's control Web
content!

Should we expect anything less?

Considering government growth and control is surging while
private sector job opportunities continue shrinking! Now
Americans are in danger of losing their free speech rights
through this latest FCC Net Neutrality power-grab!

+ + A Grassroots Call to Action!

The only way to stop this runaway train is for grassroots
Americans to appeal to the Senate to move quickly to pass
a Congressional Review Act (CRA) Resolution that would
effectively kill the illegal, job-killing Net Neutrality
order.

Is Congress Refusing to Stop the Obama Syndicate Crimes?
By Sher Zieve
CanadaFreePress.com

With all of its pretense of sending open letters to Obama pleading with him to stop his illegal and Congressional bypassing behaviors, Congress patently refuses to stop Dictator-in-Chief Obama from destroying the United States of America and enslaving its people. The latest "plea" that prompted this column is the 26 September 2011 Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) begging letter to the US "dear leader."

The Big Labor Stranglehold: Killing Jobs and Hurting America
By Carl F. Horowitz
HumanEvents.com

Union membership as a share of the labor force is at its lowest level in decades. Only 11.9% of all U.S. employees in 2010 belonged to a labor organization. Yet as the unfolding drama in Wisconsin this year has revealed, unions are far from irrelevant. Indeed, public-sector employees have emerged as one of the most powerful forces in the nation's economic and political life, driving many states and localities to severe fiscal distress. Their close alliance with the Democratic Party has accelerated this trend.

SAVING MEDICARE

Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.

It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]

Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]

The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]

This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.

Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.

If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].

This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.

The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.

The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell

Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]

On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.

The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]

The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points

It is important that we

Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later

The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.

Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.

By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will

  • maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
  • provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.

It is important that we...

Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older

This bears repeating:

  • Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
  • If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
  • And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.

It is important that we...

Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees

Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.

It is important that we...

Maintain affordability

Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.

It is important that we...

Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare

Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.

It is important that we...

Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels

The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.
