David Horowitz Luncheon & Book Signing
The Philadelphia Freedom Center is pleased to welcome our mentor and leader, David Horowitz to Philadelphia to speak about his new book, A Point in Time:The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next.
David shocked the political left when he abandoned 1960s radicalism to become a conservative. Founder and current president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, David is also founder and editor of FrontPage Magazine. He also founded Students for Academic Freedom, Newsrealblog.com, Discoverthenetworks.com, and is the author of over 20 books.
A Point in Time:
The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next
Part memoir and part philosophical reflection, A Point in Time focuses on man's inevitable search for meaning - and how for those without religious belief, that search often leads to a faith in historical progress, one that is bound to disappoint. Horowitz agrees with Arcus Aurelius, whose stoic philosophy provides a focal point for the book, "He who has seen present things has seen all, both everything that has taken place from all eternity and everything that will be for time without end..."
Horowitz remembers his father; a political radical who put his faith in just such a redemptive future. He examines this hope through the other great figure who organizes these reflections, the Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky, whose writings foreshadowed the great tragedies of the social revolutions to come. Horowitz draws on eternal themes: the need we have to make sense out of the lives we have been given, our desire to repair the injustices we encounter, and the consequences of our mortality.
Interweaving episodes of his own life with the writings of the philosopher and the novelist, Horowitz explores how we provide meaning to an apparently senseless existence and the dire consequences that follow from seeking to redeem it by attempting to make a perfect world out of the imperfect one in which we find ourselves.

From Valley Forge Patriots: If you're not already aware of it, the "Social Media" have become a routine way of communicating and exchanging ideas. Social media is now widely used - probably every elected representative in the state capitals and in Washington have their own Facebook and use Twitter. Political action groups make extensive use of them, as do private individuals, companies and non-profit groups. It's time for our own Tea Party to learn these tools and make use of them. For that reason, we've made arrangements for Daria DiGiovanni to conduct a hands on, how to session. Daria has worked with a number of Tea Parties, teaching them social media as well as creating their web sites. Training will be conducted in the King of Prussia area, and will consist of a single, three-hour session. Day and time to be announced. There will be a small cost - we're working out the details, but it's likely to be $10 or less, and will be held within the next 30 days. We don't know if this training will be offered again in the foreseeable future. Even if you expressed interest before, please re-email Louis@APO146.com immediately so we can plan and schedule the training. Name, phone and what days of the week you can NOT make the Social Media training class. Send your response to: Louis@APO146.com 11) The National Center for Constitutional Studies "Making of America" seminar. Saturday Nov 12, 8:30am - 4:30pm, location TBA. Property Tax Reform and the Cost of Education - An Outstanding Round Table Discussion
When: Friday, October 14, 2011 at 6:00 PM
Where: Phoenixville Country Club, Phoenixville, PA 19460 (610) 933-3727
Food and beverage service is available. New menu!
THE BIG PICTURE ON PROPERTY TAX REFORM AND THE COST OF EDUCATING OUR CHILDREN!!
Our round table of three outstanding speakers: Nathan Benfield, David Baldinger and Dr. Richard Brake
THE COST OF EDUCATION GOES UP, UP, UP AND OUR PROPERTY TAXES KEEP GOING UP, UP, UP! WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CHANGE THIS?
No discussion on property tax reform is complete without talking about what it is costing to educate our children and whether or not they are getting the education they deserve, according to Nathan Benfield, Director of Policy Analysis for the Commonwealth Foundation. Nate has researched and written on public policy issues including taxation, government spending, education reform and transportation funding. He has frequently provided testimony to Pennsylvania House and Senate committees on various issues including education.
David Baldinger a full-time volunteer for the Pennsylvania Coalition of Taxpayer Associations (PCTA) will be with us to explain the School Property Tax Elimination Plan that permanently eliminates all school district property taxes as well as eliminating local school district earned income taxes (EIT). PCTA says Statewide, current school district budgets increase, on average, at twice the rate of inflation! And, "no tax should have the power to leave you homeless". David started this work in 2004 and since has become one of PA's leading experts on the subject.
Dr. Richard Brake is the Director of Educational Programs at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI), a non-profit educational foundation with a mission to "Educate for Liberty"- by inspiring college students to discover and embrace principles that make America prosperous, moral, and free. Dr. Brake lives in Berwyn with his family and is currently an elective member of the TE school board. Dr. Brake has documented the failure of America's top universities to teach students the founding history, texts, and institutions of our constitutional republic. His commentary on this disturbing trend has appeared in media outlets nationwide. |

A friend of mine asked that I pass this on too like minded people.... I ask the same of you... Thanks, Glenn
Dear Glenn,
I hope this memo finds you and your daughter doing well.
Please share this flyer with your like-minded friends and neighbors. I'm scheduled to give a presentation entitled "Citizen's Request for Reconsideration of a Work" - how to remove objectionable material from the curriculum. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover how to remove objectionable teachers from the school district.
Take care,
Eric

Judical Watch is Demanding Answers Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:
 | "The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2 |
But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.
We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action? True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step. For more information email info@truethevote.org or go HERE to sign up now!

Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked.
So here it is. A one page, quick description of Agenda 21 that fits on one page. I've also included for the back side of your hand out a list of quotes for the perpetrators of Agenda 21 that should back up my brief descriptions.
A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. Research, know your details; discover the NGO players in your community; identify who is victimized by the policies and recruit them to your fight; and then kill Agenda 21. That's how it must be done. The information below is only your first step. Happy hunting.
What is Sustainable Development?

New Meeting Schedule for the Concerned Citizen's Group. The next monthly meeting will be on Saturday, October 8th at P J Ryan's, 231 Bridge Street, Phoenixville - 6pm. Radio Talk Show Host Maggie Roddin will do a presentation on U.N. Agenda 21 and have any updates that may have come from the U.N. or local sustainable development . . . don't forget hay is now deemed a pollutant by the EPA . . . no hay, no crops, no animals, no food. We will also be showing a movie on U.N. Agenda 21 at the October 8th meeting.
If you would like to join the Green Team or volunteer for a sub-committee, please email us CONTACT Diane about this email at : uncanney2@verizon.net |

2012 Presidential Candidate Selector or Obama, His Allies & Critics Matching Quiz
Politicians have already indicated their 2012 presidential aspirations. This matching quiz includes President Obama, top members of his administration, Obama's most vocal critics (Boehner, Cantor, etc.) and likely White House prospects (Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal, etc.). You may select a position for every issue, or just select issues important to you. The political figures' positions are based upon their voting records, special interest group ratings and their statements in the public record. In cases where there is no known public record or statement, these politicos are not given a score on that issue. We add candidates, revise their views and include new issues as they become known or change. Check back often for updates.

Pre-Order Atlas Shrugged Now!
Earlier this year, I urged you to go to theaters to see Atlas Shrugged: Part One and share its message of limited government, free markets and individual liberty with family, friends and neighbors. Based on Ayn Rand's classic novel written in 1957, Atlas Shrugged: Part One was immediately celebrated as a "made for Tea Party film." The film is now finally set for its much-anticipated release on DVD. As a FreedomWorks member, you can pre-order a limited edition version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One featuring special bonus features from FreedomWorks. Pre-order It Now! Atlas Shrugged: Part One is set in a not-so-distant future in which government has taken control of businesses, bureaucrats have impose burdensome regulations on the economy and entrepreneurs are rapidly disappearing from society. Their disappearances are all linked to a man named John Galt, a mysterious figure who leaves this desperate world wondering: "Who is John Galt?" I know many of our members were disappointed that Atlas Shrugged: Part One, a film that had been attempted and scrapped numerous times since the novel debuted over 50 years ago, didn't play in a theater in their area. The release of this limited edition FreedomWorks version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One DVD is a great opportunity to own a part of film history. Get It Now. As I've said before, Atlas Shrugged: Part One has the opportunity to introduce millions more around the world to the philosophy of freedom. This DVD is a great gift for family and friends who care about the principles of limited government, free markets and individual liberty. Give A Gift. While activists have many reasons for getting involved in this grassroots movement-TARP, the stimulus, ObamaCare-I know that for me I wasn't initially motivated by a piece of legislation or a midterm election. My conversion happened many years ago when I picked up a dog-eared copy of the 1,000 page tome we know as Ayn Rand's masterpiece, Atlas Shrugged. That's the power of this book and this film. Pre-order It Now. In Liberty, Matt Kibbe President and CEO, FreedomWorks

RedState Morning Briefing
For September 30, 2011
1. Does Barack Obama Think America Needs Viagra? His "Malaise' Moment Arrives
It's not Barack Obama's policies. It is not the economic uncertainty over regulations and taxes. It is not the National Labor Relations Board and Department of Labor pushing aggressively pro-union agendas that hamper competition.
No, according to Barack Obama, our nation has grown soft. That's our problem. Jimmy Carter said America was in a "malaise." This is Barack Obama's "malaise" moment.
It can't be about him. It cannot be about his polices. On the same day Joe Biden declares the economy belongs to Barack Obama, Obama passes the buck. This time it is directly to the American people and American businesses.
It's not him, you see. It's us.
"This is a great great country that had gotten a little soft and we didn't have that same competitive edge that we needed over the last couple of decades," Mr. Obama said in response to a question about the country's economic future. "We need to get back on track."
We don't have the competitive edge we once had because we have a President who spent two years deciding the government would grow the economy and the government would take over the auto industry and the government would take over the healthcare industry and the government would pick the winners and losers in the economy.
The American people and American business has not gone soft. They've gone out of business.
2. Today is P-Day: Sarah Palin's Self-Imposed 'Drop Dead Date' To Declare Her Candidacy
Today is P-Day, the date Sarah Palin herself imposed as the deadline for her announcement to run for the Presidency. From U.S. For Palin:
Sarah Palin however has said she will make an announcement before the deadline to declare by the end of September. It is now September 8th, 2011 and all the media and her supporters have to do is wait till September 30th, 2011.
Never mind that last night she declared on Fox that, despite her own words, she probably won't make up her mind today. Still, she said it. She set today's deadline. Not the media. Not me. She did it.
To quote Leon Wolf, "Consider that of all the candidates, Sarah Palin has the least excuse for her dithering. Unlike Perry, Bachmann, and Paul, Palin hasn't had a job with official duties for the last two-plus years. All the other quasi-retired or term-limited candidates have long ago declared. Even Jon Huntsman was serving as ambassador to China as recently as April; and by the way, Huntsman has a larger family than Palin does. I get that deciding whether to run for President is a difficult decision; however, the Presidency is a job of difficult decisions, and if it has legitimately taken Sarah Palin over two years to decide whether to even start the process of becoming President, then she is unfit for the job."
So today, by her own admission since July, this is the date Sarah Palin should announce. Throughout the day we will monitor whether or not there is an announcement.
3. Obama Administration Continued to Throw Money at Solyndra After Loan Default
"Exactly what did the White House know and when did they know it?"
It's a pretty simple question and one that you would think is on the lips of every reporter that has the opportunity to ask a question of the Press Secretary or President Obama would be asking about the failed Solar company Solydnra which received over $500 million in loans from the U.S. Government.
4. House Committee Takes an Axe to Job-Killing Union Measures
This morning, the House Committee on Appropriations issued a press release regarding its Draft Fiscal Year 2012 Labor, Health and Human Services Funding Bill.
Within the text of the release, there are some specific union-payback items that the Committee knows are harmful to the creation of jobs and are, as a result, taking an ax to.

Pick a fight with a liberal on:
PC PC costs American lives. In 2000 when the USS Cole refueled in Yemen's port of Aden, Navy brass were so concerned about appearing to be "sensitive guests" that sailors patrolling the deck were not permitted to carry loaded weapons. Nor did the destroyer deploy "picket boats" and establish a defensive perimeter-even though Yemen had only recently been taken off the State Department's list of countries that sponsored terrorism. All this pandering to imaginary foreign sensitivities made it pitifully easy for an al Qaeda motorized skiff packed with explosives to approach the destroyer and blow a hole in its side, killing seventeen sailors. Two hours after this entirely avoidable terrorist attack, another motorized skiff approached the stricken vessel. A sentry raised his rifle, only to be told by his superior: "Let me tell you something about the rules of engagement. You can't point a loaded weapon at these people. That's an act of aggression." And you wonder why our enemies no longer take U.S. military power seriously?

Thursday, September 29, 2011 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer Obama Gets A Hallmark Card He's been on the cover of every major magazine, so it seems only natural that Obama would have his own Hallmark card. Sadly, this is no joking matter. Thanks to the "Obama recession" Hallmark has introduced a new line of cards -- sympathy cards for the millions of Americans suffering from layoffs and job losses. This is the reality of Obama's failed policies. I think every card should have a picture of Obama on the front and come with a voter registration form on the inside! But rather than spending $5 on a card, I have a better idea, one that will actually make a difference. Please click here to make a donation to CWF so we can defeat Barack Obama and get America back on the right track! Remember, your gift will be matched, and it will help us boot Obama out of the Oval Office! 2012 Update
- Texas Governor Rick Perry was on CNBC this morning discussing the economy, jobs and other issues. He handled Social Security and immigration much more skillfully than he has in the debates. In an interview with Newsmax yesterday, Perry apologized for suggesting that conservatives opposed to giving in-state tuition benefits to the children of illegal aliens are heartless.
Watching Perry handle several tough questions was a good reminder that, even as the days fly by, the path to the GOP nomination is a long and unpredictable road. I have no doubt that Gov. Perry should have the resources to stay in the campaign for the long haul. If he can improve his debate performances, he'll be back in the saddle again! - The Neville Chamberlain Award For Naiveté goes to Texas Congressman Ron Paul. Paul was on Washington's WMAL this morning, and made some profoundly disturbing remarks.
Paul began by advocating that America retreat from Iraq and Afghanistan. Not a strategic drawdown or phased withdrawal as the generals recommend, but "get out now." Doing so would only convince the jihadists that they have won and America has been defeated. Rep. Paul said there was no evidence that Iran was attempting to build nuclear weapons. He denied that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ever threatened Israel's existence, and suggested that if we could deal with the Soviets then we can deal with the mullahs. Clearly, he has no understanding of the radical Shiite beliefs that drive their thinking. Whatever one may think of his limited government philosophy, parts of which I admire, Paul's views on national defense and foreign policy are dangerous and disqualifying. - As Fox News reports that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is out of the race, the New York Post reports today that he just might get in. According to the Post, Christie was moved by the reception he received at the Reagan Library. In addition, he has reportedly been urged to reconsider by Nancy Reagan, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and former President George W. Bush. Stay tuned!
- For weeks now left-wing pundits have taken great delight in suggesting that all the talk about Chris Christie shows how discouraged Republican voters are and how likely it is that Barack Obama will be reelected. I'll concede that there is a degree of frustration among grassroots activists that an articulate and viable conservative (the next Ronald Reagan) has yet to emerge. But don't let the media's spin get you down.
The latest Gallup poll finds that it is Democrats who are struggling with demoralization. According to Gallup, only 45% of Democrats are enthusiastic about voting in 2012, while 58% of Republicans can't wait for the chance to vote Obama out! So while Republicans may be frustrated that they don't yet have a nominee, the party that knows who its nominee will be is the most demoralized! I feel their pain! In case you are wondering why, Gallup can answer that too. Just 11% of Americans are satisfied with the direction of the country -- "among the worst [results] on record in a trend that dates to 1979." Yes, even during the "malaise days" of Jimmy Carter, satisfaction with the direction of the country bottomed out at only 12%.
Plot Foiled To Bomb Pentagon, Capitol By now, you have probably heard about the guy who tried to bomb the Pentagon and the Capitol Building by flying drones or remote controlled model airplanes into the buildings. Today's Washington Post dutifully reports the foiled plot on page A3. You'll recall that the Post did not hesitate to portray the mass murderer who attacked a youth camp in Norway as a right-wing, Christian conservative even though he wasn't a church goer and didn't believe in prayer. Now let's consider the reporting on this latest plot against the Pentagon and Capitol. In the Post headline, we learn the suspect is a "man." In the subtitle, we are told this "man" is a "physics graduate." In the first paragraph, we learn he is 26. In paragraph two, we learn his name, Rezwan Ferdaus, and that he is a U.S.-born citizen. The first time the word "Muslim" appears is in reporting that some FBI tactics offend "Muslims who accuse the government" of entrapment. In the seventh and eighth paragraphs we learn that Ferdaus graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, and that he lived in his parents' basement. Here we also learn that he had been planning "violent jihad against the United States in early 2010," described Americans as "enemies of Allah," and wanted to "decapitate" our "military center." Yet never once does the Washington Post refer to Ferdaus as a "Muslim extremist." Religious "Tolerance" In Iran Yousef Nadarkhani is under a death sentence in Iran and awaiting execution. His crime: professing his Christian faith. Nadarkhani has refused to renounce his faith and embrace Islam, and for that the mullahs have sentenced him to death. Yesterday, Speaker John Boehner issued a statement condemning Iran's tyrannical regime. Here is an excerpt:
"Religious freedom is a universal human right. ... While Iran's government claims to promote tolerance, it continues to imprison many of its people because of their faith. This goes beyond the law to an issue of fundamental respect for human dignity. I urge Iran's leaders to abandon this dark path, spare Yousef Nadarkhani's life, and grant him a full and unconditional release."
Kudos to Speaker Boehner. But where is the statement from Secretary of State Clinton or President Obama? Oh, that's right -- they are too busy condemning the construction of homes for Jews in Jerusalem. Taxing Your Retirement Last week, with little notice, Senate Democrats held a hearing in the Finance Committee on ways to tax retirement savings. Just as we are beginning to have a national discussion about reforming entitlements and saving Social Security, Senate Democrats are trying to make it more difficult for hard-working Americans to save more. Here's the thrust of the proposal: Contributions to 401(k) accounts would be subject to taxation, as would contributions to IRAs. Employer contributions would also be treated as taxable income. But you would be eligible for a refundable tax credit that would be deposited into some account. And when you retire, guess what? "[W]ithdrawals from the accounts would continue to be taxed as income." Under current plans, you are taxed only once -- either now or later. But this new liberal proposal "shockingly" suggests that savers may be double-taxed. This bizarre idea is going nowhere, thankfully, because conservatives control the House of Representatives. But it is a good reminder of the differences between the two parties. Democrats' first instinct is always to raise taxes and find more revenue for Big Government, while Republicans want to let you keep more of your hard-earned money! Sharia Law: is it coming here?
That is the question many want to know - to find the answer look no further than GBTV this Thursday at 5pm. The program is dedicated entirely to Sharia Law - what it looks like, who's pushing it, and how much progress has been made in establishing Sharia here in America. Can it happen? Tune in to GBTV Thursday to find out!
Dave
Also, just received this email about the same program:
Beck has film of the Hibz ut Tahir Conference in Chicago that is all about this subject - your eyes will open wide as you watch them talk about the takeover of America.
This program on Thursday night reveals the status of and plans for the takeover of America and that's from Muslim organizations right here in America that are already in place, ready to act, well funded, are likely to have bought off your elected officials regardless of party affiliation and more. The same situation exists in every one of the world's nations. The Muslims are marching forward with their worldwide domination goals - Beck is going to show you the proof.
Beck is telling viewers to sign up for one month's membership at www.gbtv.com and watch/record the program tomorrow night - especially if you are Jewish and can't watch it due to Rosh Hashanah. If you decide after watching the program that you don't want to be a member he said fine, just write in and you will get your $6.00 back, no questions asked. You have nothing to lose & everything to gain. You can't fight an enemy if you don't even know where they are.
Today's news on Fox early this morning: Iran is sending its warships to be stationed right at the edge of our international waters boundaries. They will station their warships along the east coast (probably near NYC), possibly in the Gulf of Mexico or both. The ship stationed in the Gulf may pay a visit to Chavez in Venezuela.
What is America doing about this obvious threat: We're going to be watching them! Isn't that special!
Iran has nuclear weapons that can be launched from a ship and exploded mid air. Exploding 1 to 3 of them will destroy America - first anything with a computer chip in it will not run. You would lose far more than you cell phone. The means to bring energy, food & water supplies will halt, banking will stop, and it won't take long for people to turn out into the streets to fight for food and water - creating chaos is part of the goal. This is what will happen if those nuclear weapons are detonated. This is not a scary movie theme. The prediction is that within the first year, over a million Americans will be dead.
And what are we doing: We're going to watch them.
Today the Brotherhood in Egypt issued a fatwa to kill any/all Jews who are in Egypt regardless of the reason they are in the country. You know the Copts will be next. My understanding is that since March, 2011 - the beginning of the Arab Spring, 93,000 Copts have left Egypt - it's a good start but certainly not enough have been able to leave.
Sit up and take notice - send this to your family and friends. The one thing that's different from the Nazi's reign and this disaster coming our way is that we know in advance exactly what is going to happen, what the enemy's goals are and who are our enemies among us. In other words, we can't say to the next generation that we didn't know - we must keep informed, determine how best to be part of the solution and to insure that those government officials - most especially the Tea Party congressional members, are aware of this and are working to keep America safe from harm.
Information is power and none of us know just how far, wide and deep the Muslims have penetrated virtually every facet of American life.
Please, forward this to everyone possible.

ZOA Expresses Concern About Credible Allegation
of Extortion of Israel By White House
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has expressed its concern about an allegation made publicly by the greatly respected Member of Knesset Dr. Arieh Eldad. Specifically, Dr. Eldad reports that the White House has demanded that the Israeli government proclaim its support for the continued funding by the international community of the Palestinian Authority and enlist its American Jewish supporters, including AIPAC, to lobby Congress against cutting funding to the PA. According to Dr. Eldad, the White House threatened to withhold its veto in the United States Security Council of the resolution accepting the admission into the UN of a Palestinian state unless the Israeli government complies with its demands.
The ZOA has consistently condemned the PA for its unrelenting incitement of hatred and violence against Israel and the Jewish people in the Palestinian media, mosques and schools. Among other things, the PA continues to honor murderers of Israelis by naming schools and public squares after them. Several months ago the PA signed a reconciliation agreement with Hamas, whose charter calls for the liquidation of Israel and the murder of Jews worldwide. The PA's latest tactic of seeking recognition of a Palestinian state in the United Nations is simply one in a long series of tactics designed to delegitimize the Jewish State, not to mention the PA's UN action is illegal under the Oslo II provisions that the PA signed.
The ZOA supports the bill being promoted by Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fl) and others to cut off funding to the PA if it persists in making its move in the UN.
Steven M. Goldberg, Esq., National Vice Chairman of the ZOA, has made the following statement:
"We are troubled by the allegation that the White House has threatened to withhold its veto in the UN unless Israel expresses support for continued funding of the PA. Although MK Eldad's accusation has not been confirmed by the parties and will probably be denied, Dr. Eldad's accusation is believable. Over the years he has proved himself to be a highly credible Member of Knesset with unimpeachable integrity.
"Second, the behavior of both the Israeli government and the Obama administration is consistent with the truthfulness of the allegation. The Israeli government has issued several public statements supporting the continued financing of the PA. There would be no reason for such pronouncements in the absence of pressure from the Obama Administration; at most the Israeli government would make no public statements whatsoever about a US bill concerning financial aid to the Palestinian Authority pending in Congress. Further, the White House has been vigorous in its efforts to avoid having to cast the veto promised by President Obama. It clearly pains the White House to be faced with the prospect of breaking its pattern of coddling Mahmoud Abbas and the PA.
"We agree with those members of Congress who support the pending bill to halt all funding to the PA if it proceeds with trying to obtain recognition of a Palestinian state in the UN.

Cain: Most Blacks 'Brainwashed' By Liberal Views
Thursday, 29 Sep 2011
By Henry J. Reske
GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain said that while African Americans have been brainwashed to oppose conservative views, many are rethinking their position and may not necessarily vote for President Barack Obama's reelection. Cain, the former head of Godfather's Pizza, made his comments on CNN's "The Situation Room" in response to a questioned posed by host Wolf Blitzer, He asked, "Why is the Republican Party basically poison for so many African Americans?" "Because many African-Americans have been brainwashed into not being open minded, not even considering a conservative point of view," Cain said. "I have received some of that same vitriol simply because I am running for the Republican nomination as a conservative. So it's just brainwashing and people not being open minded, pure and simple." Blitzer responded, "That's a strong word to talk about your fellow African Americans, brainwashed?"

Rush: GOP Establishment Doesn't Want a Conservative Candidate
Rush Limbaugh contends that the Republican establishment is grasping to find a presidential candidate outside the current pool because it doesn't want a conservative to run. And the media are propelling the idea that Republicans don't like their candidate, he said.
Limbaugh said on his show Wednesday: "I know this is going to shock many of you, and maybe disappoint a lot of you. But when you talk about the Republican establishment - and you've read their pieces today -you know what I'm talking about: The columnists, the magazine directors, editors, publishers, whatever, they are reaching and searching for a counter to the conservatives."
That's why the search goes on beyond businessman Herman Cain, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, and Rep. Michele Bachmann, Limbaugh said.
"They don't want Herman Cain getting the nomination; they don't want Perry getting the nomination; they don't want Bachmann getting the nomination. The Republican establishment does not want a conservative getting the nomination," he said.

An interesting thing happened since I last wrote you about our presidential survey program. At the Republican presidential debate on Thursday night, a South Carolina resident on YouTube posed a question to the candidates: Do you support the National Right to Work Act? The moderator indicated that the question was one of the most popular of all the questions submitted. No surprise there. Nearly 80% of Americans support the Right to Work principle that no worker should be compelled to join or pay dues to a union to get or keep a job.
 | National Right to Work Act at the Sept 22 GOP Presidential Debate |
Only one candidate (former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum) even got the chance to answer the Right to Work question and, typical politician, he dodged. In Rick Santorum's case this comes as no surprise since as a Senator he voted to uphold the web of federal laws which authorize union officials to force workers to pay dues to keep their jobs when he voted against the National Right to Work Act. Which just proves our point. It's vital that the candidates go on the record in writing to show the voters where they stand on the National Right to Work Act and eight other critical questions relating to forced unionism. And we must have the resources we need to report the results to our members, the media, and primary voters. That's why, two weeks ago, the National Right to Work Committee announced an ambitious fundraising campaign to launch hard-hitting TV ads in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. I'm so grateful to all the Right to Work supporters who chipped in to help. Some could only afford $5 or $10. Others gave much more. Over $110,000 poured in online, and my staff is still processing all the contributions we received in the mail. With the matching grant from generous Right to Work supporters, I'm confident we'll be able to launch our program to full effect. Thank you for making it all possible. We'll keep you informed as this critical program develops. Sincerely, Mark Mix P.S. The National Right to Work Committee relies on your voluntary support. Please consider chipping in with a contribution of $10 or more today.

The Trouble With Crony Capitalism
Posted: 29 Sep 2011 11:39 AM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
Yesterday the Department of Energy approved $1 billion in new loan guarantees to "green energy" companies. Drudge is headlining the fact that, as reported by Mark Hemingway in the Weekly Standard, most of that amount-$737 million-is going to SolarReserve LLC for a solar-thermal project in Nevada. SolarReserve's "investment partners"-I take it that means owners-include the Pacific Corporate Group's Clean Energy and Technology Fund. One of Pacific Corporate Group's principals is Nancy Pelosi's brother-in-law, Ronald Pelosi. Another of SolarReserve's owners is Argonaut Private Equity, whose managing director, Steve Mitchell, is on Solyndra's board of directors.
My guess is that government underwriting of SolarReserve's project is a horrible idea. But suppose it isn't: who is going to believe that the Obama administration wasn't influenced by Pelosi's brother-in-law's involvement in the project? Likewise, who will believe that Democratic donor George Kaiser's involvement in Solyndra was irrelevant to the government's misbegotten support for that company? Hemingway writes that "[i]t's increasingly hard to tell the government's green jobs subsidies apart from the Democrats' friends and family rewards program." That's true, and whether "green energy" corruption is real or only perceived, it breeds cynicism and erodes trust in government-which, not coincidentally, is at an all-time low.
But the problem goes deeper still. When the federal government gets into the business of picking winners and losers among private businesses, it is easy to identify the winners-they are companies like Solyndra and SolarReserve that get government money or loan guaranties. But what about the losers? A much larger number of companies who don't get federal money are in that category, and how will we ever know who they are, let alone know whether they were losers because someone involved in them is a Republican donor?
There is no such thing as "good" crony capitalism. Once the government gets into the business of favoring some private businesses over others, the results can only be bad, and not only, or even primarily, because of the loans that wind up costing the taxpayers.
Major UN Climate Program "Basically a Farce"
Posted: 29 Sep 2011 10:52 AM PDT
(Steven Hayward)
Today's climate campaign embarrassment comes to us courtesy of Nature magazine once again, which has a story in the current issue about how the UN's "Clean Development Mechanism" (CDM), which was essentially a fig leaf for wealth transfers from industrialized nations to poor developing nations, isn't working according to plan. The CDM is a prototype for a global cap and trade system, whereby industrial sources of greenhouse gas emissions would pay to "offset" their emissions by paying for projects that would reduce the growth of emissions in developing nations like China and India.
There has been rampant fraud in this program since the beginning, which is a feature rather than a bug for the UN of course. Naturally the UN wants to expand this program and increase the amount of money rich nations send to poor nations, since, as one leading German climate diplomat, Ottmar Edenhoffer, put it indelicately last fall: "But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy. Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore."
The most fun aspect of this story is that the damaging information comes courtesy of the Wikileaks folks. Obviously they didn't get the memo that they're only supposed to serve leftist causes. The Nature article may be behind a subscriber firewall, so here are the relevant passages:
[The CDM] allows rich countries to offset some of their carbon emissions by investing in climate-friendly projects, such as hydroelectric power and wind farms, in developing countries. Verified projects earn certified emission reductions (CERs) - carbon credits that can be bought and sold, and count towards meeting rich nations' carbon-reduction targets. But a diplomatic cable published last month by the WikiLeaks website reveals that most of the CDM projects in India should not have been certified because they did not reduce emissions beyond those that would have been achieved without foreign investment. Indian officials have apparently known about the problem for at least two years. "What has leaked just confirms our view that in its present form the CDM is basically a farce," says Eva Filzmoser, programme director of CDM Watch, a Brussels-based watchdog organization. The revelations imply that millions of tonnes of claimed reductions in greenhouse-gas emissions are mere phantoms, she says, and potentially cast doubt over the principle of carbon trading. "In the face of these comments it is no wonder that the United States has backed away from emission trading," Filzmoser says.

The Fact Checker Gets One Right Posted: 28 Sep 2011 06:11 PM PDT (John Hinderaker) Last week I criticized Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post reporter who writes a regular feature called "The Fact Checker," for wrongly claiming that certain comments by Rick Perry on the Middle East were false. My last post on the subject is here. Yesterday, Kessler went after Perry-who seems to be a favorite target-once more, but this time, Kessler was right. He analyzed Perry's claim in the last GOP presidential debate that Mitt Romney had written one thing about Romneycare in the original version of his book, and then surreptitiously changed it in the paperback edition. Perry's attack was carefully planned, as he followed it up with an ad. I will turn the floor over to The Fact Checker: The Rick Perry campaign on Monday released an advertisement that reiterates the Texas governor's charge, made during last week's debate, that former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney altered the text of his book "No Apology" between the publication of the hardcover edition in 2010 and the paperback version in 2011. Specifically, Perry claims that Romney deleted a sentence suggesting that the health-care plan he passed in Massachusetts was a model for the rest of the nation. Romney forcefully denied that claim during the debate - a clip the Perry campaign uses in this ad. ... The key sentence that Perry focuses on in his ad is this one, which is in a chapter on Romney's successful drive to bring universal health care to his state: "We can accomplish the same thing for everyone in the country, and it can be done without letting government take over health care." (Page 177.) In the paperback, the sentence is simply this: "And it was done without the government taking over health care."(Page 192.) Now readers should always be suspicious when a politician clips little snippets of a quote and blows them up into an ad. For instance, what is in the paragraph just above this sentence, unchanged in both editions of the book? You will find these two sentences (which can actually be spotted in the Perry ad, if you look quickly enough): "My own preference would be to let each state fashion its own program to meet the distinct needs of its citizens. States could follow the Massachusetts model if they choose, or they could develop plans of their own." In other words, Perry is simply making up the claim that Romney advocated his health-care plan as a model for the rest of the country - and that he deleted words praising it. Perry's claim is directly contradicted on the very page from which he draws his gotcha quote. (You can see this clearly if you click on this PDF of Pages 176-177, courtesy of our friends at PolitiFact.) ... We closely compared the chapter on health care in the two editions so you don't have to. Essentially, it is clear that the hardcover edition was written when Obama's health-care plan was still a work in progress. For instance, Romney spends some time denouncing the idea of a public option as "government-supplied insurance." The paperback was published after the health-care law was passed, so the paragraphs on the public option - which had been abandoned by Obama - are dropped. Romney also must have sensed that GOP anger at Obama's health-care law might make his own signature legislative achievement less attractive to Republican voters, so he added a few paragraphs emphasizing how the Democratic governor who followed him made changes in the law that he did not approve of. But otherwise the changes are minimal - the standard updating that takes place in paperback nonfiction books. ... Romney has long said he did not view his plan as a model for the nation, and he has not wavered on that stance. I give The Fact Checker a "Gepetto checkmark," Kessler's own symbol of truth-telling. Unfortunately, Perry's misfire is not an isolated event. Every day, his campaign sends out emails attacking Mitt Romney, often, in my view, unfairly. I think Perry misapprehends what Republican voters are looking for this year. We want to defeat Barack Obama and elect a Republican Congress. Candidates for the presidential nomination are competitors, not enemies, and needlessly harsh attacks, let alone false ones, should be out of bounds. Which highlights, I think, one of Mitt Romney's real strengths. We live in a time of bitter political division, but Romney, whatever you think of his policy positions, completely lacks a mean streak. In this respect, he matches up very well against the divisive Barack Obama, who only knows how to campaign by stirring up hate against his opponents. In my view, Romney's unwillingness to launch false or unfair attacks is a significant asset.

Leaders Don't Avoid Worthwhile Fights
|
Earlier this week, a Republican strategist told the New York Times, "If the voters wanted politicians with courage, they'd reward them. Voters punish people who behave like that." That mindset, so prevalent among the Washington Establishment, is why our country is on the verge of a fiscal crisis.
Heritage Action is standing side-by-side with conservative leaders who have the courage to stand up and fight for conservative principles. Unfortunately, taking this principled stand is unpopular with many in Washington. They are content with preserving status quo in order to avoid politically damaging battles.
>> Learn more: See why backing down is not an option.
Liberals and the Washington Establishment will never do what it takes to save the American dream. We can either keep the politics that have driven us to the brink of bankruptcy, or we can cut spending, shrink government and restore prosperity.
>> Read the column where we push this message to Washington.
Heritage Action will continue to stand with courageous conservatives, pushing Washington to put leadership and country before re-election. These leaders will save the American dream; they need to be heard.
Sincerely,
Michael A. Needham Chief Executive Officer Heritage Action for America

Tax "Blues" are Making Obama's Voters See Red By Janice Lacy, California Political Review
|
Is another state turning curiously "red" as the economy tanks? Call it a case of the tax and spend "blues." In "blue"-leaning California, it may be that even liberal voters have had enough-even the voters who reside in the most notorious bastion of liberal thinking on earth, the San Francisco Bay area. And it may be that independent voters, a voting bloc President Obama must woo to squeak by next November, have also had enough. As a majority of California voters voice their support of a long-standing tax reduction measure here, are they saying they have had it with Obama and have the tax "blues"? At issue is....

Guys, Grow Up or Risk Re-Electing Obama By Michael Reagan, FloydReports.com

There's an old curse that begs, "O that mine enemy would write a book." That's a desire getting a big play in the debates between Mitt Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who are both trashing my Dad Ronald Reagan's so-called "11th Commandment," that Republicans must refrain from attacking each other in public. Like just about everybody else I'm being wearied by both Mitt Romney and Rick Perry citing passages from each other's books to prove a point. All they do is prove that they can read and write. Envy: The Democrats' Deadly Sin By Dr. Paul G. Kengor, FloydReports.com
|
Envy is sadness or discontent at another's good fortune or excellence. Dante defined it as a perversion of one's own good; a "wish to deprive" others of their own good. Augustine deemed it "the diabolical sin." Conservative columnist George Will quips that envy is the most miserable of the deadly sins because it brings not even fleeting pleasure. No, envy simply makes you downright miserable and angry, at best providing perverse pleasure only when your prosperous neighbor suddenly suffers misfortune-or, in current application, when the federal government forcibly takes an even larger chunk of that neighbor's money. But what happens when a political party crafts its appeal around envy? Of course, the Democratic Party has been doing just that for a long time....

Tax-and-Spend Programs are Not "Compassionate" By Susan Stamper Brown, FloydReports.com

Some of my fondest childhood memories include times when my father and I served meals to those in need at our town's local Rescue Mission. Coming from humble beginnings as the daughter of a hard-working blue-collar worker, helping the homeless, sick, hungry, abused, and addicted taught me there would always be someone a little less fortunate than I out there who was in need of a helping hand. I came to understand were it not for my father's self-determination and sense of personal responsibility, given his personal circumstances, Dad could have been on the other end of that kitchen counter, and I'd probably be a registered Democrat today. These lessons are the reason why I have knee-jerk reactions when I hear statements suggesting that government should do for us what we should be doing for ourselves. Progressive Democrats' sacrosanct belief that the government was created to control how wealth is spread around is nothing more than a modern-day attempt to re-invent Robin Hood, only without all the chivalry and green tights. Those supporting the president's new plan to "ask" (Progressive-speak for mandate) the wealthiest Americans to "pay their fair share" romantically....

The Truly American Policies we ought to adopt
Sep 29, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins
By Ron Reale, staff writer
CONCERNING THE FOUNDING DOCUMENTS
"WE THE PEOPLE," in our founding documents means "CITIZENS of the United States." American CITIZENS decided all, like-minded American citizens are equal. No foreign subject is equal to an AMERICAN CITIZEN, nor deserving of, nor entitled too, under any circumstances, the benefits or protections of our FOUNDING DOCUMENTS, unless and until they renounce their allegiance to all other countries, jurisdictions and belief systems, and become American CITIZENS. At that point, they are EQUAL CITIZENS, and afforded all the protections of the founding documents.
The mere presence on American soil does not an American Citizen make, nor does presence in the United States automatically transfer any rights or privileges of American CITIZENSHIP onto anyone.
CONCERNING FOREIGN POLICY
American foreign policy should be easy. One run-on sentence should cover it all:
The United States will do no business with, nor trade with, nor accept any immigrants from, nor give foreign aid ... Continue Reading:The Truly American Policies we ought to adopt

Obama's Jobs Plan: Permanent Tax Hikes on Job Creators
By Curtis Dubay September 15, 2011
When President Obama unveiled his much-hyped American Jobs Act to a joint session of Congress last week, he promised that the increased spending and temporary tax cuts the plan entails would be fully "paid for." He did not specify in that speech the details of how he would offset the costs of his plan other than he would charge the "super committee" with this responsibility.
This week, he released his own proposals to pay for the plan. To no one's surprise, the plan would offset the costs of its jobs policies solely with tax hikes and not one penny of spending reductions.
The tax increases the President proposes are the same old hodgepodge of tax hikes he has proposed often since taking office, and they have been rejected by Democratic and Republican Congresses alike each time he's pushed for them. In the end, the tax hikes would be permanent while the jobs policies temporary; thus, the proposal is really a tax hike plan rather than a jobs plan.

September 29, 2011 President Obama Pressured to Restrict Religious Hiring The freedom of faith-based groups to hire employees that share their organization's beliefs was challenged last week in a letter sent to President Obama by the Coalition Against Religious Discrimination (CARD). CARD's letter takes issue with an executive order issued in 2002 by President George W. Bush that allows faith-based organizations to contract with the federal government while maintaining religious hiring policies consistent with religious mission.
The letter claims the executive order allows faith-based groups to discriminate against potential employees on the basis of religion and urges the administration to replace the policy with one that could force religious organizations contracting with the government to disregard their convictions when hiring.
Faith-based organizations make profound contributions to the health of civil society by providing social services in personalized, community-based ways that a distant federal government is incapable of achieving. The freedom to employ staff with similar beliefs allows faith-based groups to maintain the very character that makes them so important to a robust civil society in the first place.
As Jennifer Marshall and Joseph Loconte pointed out in a Heritage Foundation paper:
"There is no more vital protection for organizations with a religiously-rooted approach to social assistance than the freedom to hire according to their convictions. The leadership and staff of an organization determine its destiny. They alone will carry out its mission, uphold its priorities, and embody its deepest values. If the First Amendment guarantee of religious liberty does not protect the employment decisions of faith-based organizations - their right to free association - then it has become a meaningless abstraction."
This isn't the first time CARD has pressured President Obama to renounce his stand on religious hiring freedoms. The group sent a similar letter to the Oval Office this past summer, requesting a reversal of the faith-based executive order.
In response to that request, a group of faith-based organizations sent their own letter to President Obama, encouraging him to uphold the rights of religious organizations to hire individuals of the same faith. The letter asked that the administration maintain the current policy, arguing that the idea behind religious hiring practices is not entirely different from the employment principles of other nonprofit organizations that receive government funding.
The letter explained: "Even groups like the Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood and a host of other groups across the ideological and political spectrum routinely select employees based on their political, ideological or social convictions. Religious groups employ a similar, but much more fundamentally important, practice when they insist on shared religious viewpoints."
Faith-based groups' right to preserve the identity, character, and effectiveness of their organizations by hiring people of similar beliefs deserves a continued defense in the public square.

Health Insurance Continues Unaffordable Trend After Obamacare
Kathryn Nix
September 28, 2011
This week, the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust released a major survey on employer-sponsored health benefits in the United States. Among the many important findings in the report, one fact stood out: Americans are paying more and more for their health insurance every year, a concerning trend that is only getting worse under Obamacare. The report explains that:
- The cost of insurance is increasingly unaffordable to American families. The cost of health insurance in the United States has grown significantly over the last decade. The Kaiser survey shows that the average annual premium for a family in 2011 is 31 percent higher than it was in 2006, and 113 percent higher than in 2001. This year marks the first year that the cost of family coverage will exceed $15,000, reports The Wall Street Journal's Anna Wilde Matthews.
Small businesses especially struggle to offer health benefits to their employees because of cost. According to Kaiser, 55 percent of small firms surveyed that did not offer coverage cited the high cost of insurance as the primary reason.

Obamacare's Soaring Price Tag
On January 21, 2009, Barack Obama stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and, in his inaugural address, pledged to America that he would "wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost." What he did wield, of course, was a 2,000-page bill known as Obamacare. More than a year on, we now know that health care costs are soaring, and the President's signature legislation is to blame.
Most Americans know that medicine is getting more expensive, but a new survey puts a shocking sticker price on the rapid increase. The Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust report that between 2010 and 2011, family premiums increased by 9 percent and for individual premiums by 8 percent. According to the survey, "The average premium for single coverage in 2011 is $452 per month or $5,429 per year ... The average premium for family coverage is $1,256 per month or $15,073 per year."

Supreme Court Might Kill ObamaCare Before Election -- If Obama's Lucky
Why did the Obama administration, after dragging out the various court challenges to ObamaCare, suddenly step on the gas?
The administration surprised court watchers by passing up a chance to slow down ObamaCare's long march to an eventual Supreme Court ruling. In failing to request a hearing by all the appeals court judges of the 11th Circuit -- to overturn an anti-ObamaCare decision by three of its members -- the administration now puts the matter on a faster track to the Supreme Court.
The court will likely agree to hear the case because two appellate circuit courts, the 11th and 6th, have issued contradictory rulings -- one striking down the individual mandate as unconstitutional, and the other upholding it. This confusion practically guarantees a hearing by the top court, probably months before next year's election.
What provoked the administration's change of heart?
Obama supposedly did not want a Supreme Court decision so soon because, pro or con, the ruling figures to play large as a re-election issue. On the other hand, ObamaCare already is an issue, with the President's opponent undoubtedly planning to hammer him with it.
But if the court strikes down ObamaCare -- especially with a 5-4 split -- Obama can argue that with his re-election, the next opening gets filled with another Sotomayor/Kagan-like liberal who would have supported ObamaCare. If the vacancy comes from the conservative side, Obama can fulfill a liberal dream of switching the court's majority from center-right -- four conservatives and the Anthony Kennedy "swing" vote -- to a left-wing majority.
Obama's new faster-track tactic might also turn on this: Obama expects the Supreme Court to side with him. If the President wins in court, his Republican opponent will still argue against the merits of ObamaCare. But he or she could no longer flatly call it "unconstitutional," since the court would have just ruled otherwise.
So how would a Supreme Court defeat make Obama lucky in his bid for a second term?
ObamaCare remains unpopular, with a plurality of Americans wanting it repealed. Unlike major historic safety-net legislation like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, ObamaCare received no opposition party Senate votes -- none. A majority of state attorneys general either filed or joined lawsuits to overturn the mandate that requires practically all Americans to purchase health insurance.
Romneycare, used as a model for ObamaCare, at best fails to live up to its promises. True, most residents of Massachusetts support Romneycare, and Gov. Mitt Romney's successor praises it. An AP "fact-check" on Romneycare, relying on an MIT economist who helped design Romneycare, pretty much pronounced it a success. But the free-market think tank National Center for Policy Analysis sees the Massachusetts health plan differently. Among its findings:
"There has been no apparent change in self-reported unmet needs. Remarkably, one-third of adults within 300 percent of the federal poverty level report that they were unable to meet a health care need within the past 12 months for 'any reason.' ...
"But (there has been) a statistically significant increase in ER traffic among those within 300 percent of the federal poverty level! This is consistent with a survey of 11 Massachusetts-area hospitals that found ER use rose 4 percent. ...
"New patients must wait from a month to six weeks to see a family doctor or an internist. Make that two months in Boston for a family practitioner. ... About half of all family doctors and internists won't see new patients or accept the insurance provided in the Commonwealth Connector (Massachusetts state authority's broker for private insurance). This was up sharply from 2006."
The Economist, a British center-left magazine, calls Romneycare "a legacy (Romney) can be proud of." But, the Economist points out: "He contrasts (Romneycare) with ObamaCare by claiming that (Romneycare) introduced no new taxes. This is pretty clearly a fib. The law wasn't implemented until after he was gone, and the fact that he didn't raise taxes to pay for it simply meant he refused to deal with the funding issue. His successor ... had to hike business fees by $100 million and to raise the cigarette tax by $1 a pack in 2008 to pay for the program's subsidies. In any case, Commonwealth Care is funded partly through matching funds from the federal Medicaid funding ... ." A legacy to be proud of?
Two-thirds of doctors, according to Investors Business Daily polls, "oppose" ObamaCare and predict lower-quality health care. A poll by the consulting firm McKinsey & Co. finds that nearly one-third of businesses plan to drop heath insurance for their employees after 2014, when much of ObamaCare goes into effect.
True, the American Medical Association supports ObamaCare. But only 17 percent of doctors belong to the organization, and many dropped their membership because of AMA's support of ObamaCare. Americans consistently rank physicians among the most respected of professionals. Yet the President, a man with virtually no private-sector experience, arrogantly ignores doctors' objections.
Obama, as with his fight to end Bush-era tax rates for the "rich," will also lose this battle -- if he is lucky. A Supreme Court rejection of the ObamaCare mandate would immediately boost the economy and, by extension, Obama's prospect for re-election.
How ironic.

McCaughey: Surge in Costs Start Of Obamacare Disaster
A new report claims that Obamacare is only negligibly responsible for the surge in health insurance premiums this year, but former New York Lt. Gov. and healthcare expert Betsy McCaughey says its provisions do come with a steep price and there is "no tooth fairy."
The survey of private and public employers conducted by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation disclosed that the average cost of a family policy climbed 9 percent to $15,073 in 2011, the largest increase since 2005. Premiums for single coverage rose 8 percent.
The group's findings also showed that health insurance is consuming a bigger share of employer costs, forcing many companies to eliminate pay raises and pass on more medical costs to workers.

News from The Hill:
Draft spending bill would defund Obama healthcare law By Sam Baker
House Republicans released a draft spending bill Thursday that would cut off funding for many parts of healthcare reform, though the bill remains deadlocked in the Appropriations Committee. The draft legislation would attempt to cut off almost all funding for implementation of the healthcare reform law. It would specifically block any money from going to the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight - the office handling the bulk of the implementation effort - as well as the recently disbanded office in charge of setting up the controversial CLASS program. All told, the bill would rescind $6.8 billion in implementation funds, according to the Appropriations Committee. It would block funding for the Affordable Care Act until legal challenges over the law's individual coverage mandate have been settled. Read the complete story here.

(Please note, due to the Rosh Hashana holiday and the Sabbath this blog will not be updated until Sat night.)Three years after energy independence and alternative energy measures had bipartisan support under the Bush Administration, the Obama Administration has not only succeeded in politicizing alternative energy until it became a divisive issue, but with the Solyndra scandal, it may have also tarred the entire alternative energy field with another Enron. The problem was always one of goals. For environmentalists alternative energy was never really about independence, it was about austerity and rationing for the good of the earth. The last thing that people who believe that there are already too many people on the planet driving cars, buying consumer goods and otherwise despoiling the virgin paradise of what was once a lovely desert or wetlands, want is cheap energy. If there was a car that ran on water, they would be the first to outlaw it. If solar panels provided cheap and plentiful energy, there would be protests against them every day. Environmentalists know that austerity and rationing are not popular words, even if you dress them up as carbon footprints and cap and trade. And they will use any conceivable argument to ram their agenda through, but they are not loyal to anything but their core austerity rationing manifesto. Their goal is expensive sustainable energy. If it isn't sustainable, than it had damn well better be expensive.

Tea Party News Thursday, September 29th
Chris Christie's Dilemma
The NY Post says Nancy Reagan, Henry Kissinger, George W. Bush are all encouraging Chris Christie to enter the primary race. Bill Kristol says "It's Not About You" - telling Christie he must run for "the good of the country". So the pressure is on. To me this says that the Republican party "establishment" is scared that an independent thinking TeaParty type candidate is likely to win the nomination if they do not step in with their own candidate. I think Christie was sincere every time he said that he is not ready and had no intention to run. So if he does run, he is doing it against his better judgement. He enters the race contradicting himself and being labeled as either inconsistent or insincere. I believe that the "establishment" and BIG money/power ( Do I sound like a conspiracy theorist? ) have told him that if he does not run, he can forget about any future in politics outside of New Jersey. Christie's dilemma is choosing between a stand that would show he is strong and independent or compromising to appease the "establishment". My advice: Have faith that the TeaParty movement is strong and will be a more powerful force four or eight years from now than the party establishment. We should know his decision by early next week learn what kind of person he is.

Newt Gingrich releases '21st Century Contract with America'

The document is a new take on the "Contract with America," which Gingrich became famous for in his heyday as U.S. House speaker. The new proposals are different from those in the original, but match the themes of smaller government, lower taxes and greater citizen control.
REPEAL "OBAMACARE" AND REPLACE IT: The federal health care law is unconstitutional. Americans would get the choice of a tax credit or the ability to deduct the value of their health insurance up to a certain amount.
OPTIONAL FLAT TAX AND OTHER REFORMS: All tax filers would have a choice on income tax: Use the current provisions, or pay under a lower single rate with limited deductions - a single-page tax return. Reduce the corporate tax rate to 12.5 percent. Abolish the capital gains tax. Abolish inheritance tax. Allow companies to write off 100 percent of the expense of new equipment in one year.
ENERGY PRODUCTION IN AMERICA: Replace the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with a Environmental Solutions Agency.
MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY: Seniors could choose to remain in the existing Medicare program. Or they could select their own health insurance provider and get government help covering the premiums.
BALANCE THE BUDGET: Gain federal revenue through development of federally owned land, "including the 69 percent of Alaska and the 85 percent of Nevada that we the people own through our government." Don't raise taxes. Pass a balanced-budget amendment.
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION: Control the border with Mexico by January 2014. Reform the legal visa system to make it much easier to deport criminals and gang members while making it easier for law-abiding visitors to come to the U.S. go to college and do business.
NATIONAL SECURITY: The country needs to restructure and adequately fund our security agencies.
JUDGES: Use "the clearly delineated powers available to the president and Congress to correct, limit or replace judges who violate the Constitution."
STATES' POWERS: There are 184 means-tested entitlement programs that states could handle on their own with block grants from the federal government. "One program alone - Medicaid - could save the federal government over $700 billion in the next decade. [DesMoines Register, Sept. 28] Click here for the complete source story
Editor's Note: Herman Cain was the first GOP primary candidate to give specifics of what he would do economically. Newt Gingrich has gone further with specifics on more than a dozen issues. While the 'politicians' in the group are quibbling about what each other said in the past - with each trying to make sure they do not offend anyone - the TeaParty choices are coming out with specifics about what they will do and what they believe.

According to a Christian Post article, Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AC) "is calling on the Internal Revenue Service to look into allegations that Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tenn., is violating restrictions for posting a link to a pro-family organization on its website." What restrictions? The First Amendment does not prohibit [...]

In a previous article on GodfatherPolitics, I pointed out that leftist groups are attacking churches that address social issues that are near and dear to liberals. These groups monitor broadcasts, websites, and sermons of Christian leaders that address any topic that is critical of a leftist agenda. We've seen these types of tactics in Europe, [...]

Wednesday morning, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain appeared on the CBS Early Show. He was interviewed by Chris Wragge and Erica Hill concerning his victory in the Florida straw poll. Almost immediately after congratulating Cain on his victory, Wragge and Hill turned on Cain and concentrated more on the negatives than the positives. It was obvious by [...]

Socialists have a number of methods to take over a nation. One of the first things they do is infiltrate the schools and start teaching socialist ideas and philosophies to kids. At the same time, they quietly infiltrate public office where they can subtly sway legislation. Then they have to undermine the religious heart of [...]

Susan's Paul Ryan Medicare Pamphlet - please print this and give it to your contacts
SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
- maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
- provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
- Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
- If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
- And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

Iranian crackdown on Christians: Christian about to be executed in Iran for apostasy
An Iranian pastor is set to be executed for apostasy if he doesn't renounce his Christian faith - and while the latest updates provide hope for an acquittal the case is a strong warning against the spread of Islamic law in the Middle East. Where is the outcry from the left over this man being executed for his faith? After all, the liberals cry over the slightest hint of "inequality" here in America, but when a man is about to be executed for simply believing in Jesus you hear nothing! Where is the media? Where is the President? Get more HERE.
An end to elections?
Yeah, because any politician calling for a suspension to elections probably deserves to be in office. After all, it worked out so well in Rome, WWII Germany, and Star Wars (yeah, we went there). If YOU don't want to end up stranded on Tatooine hiding out from your thought-to-be-dead-dad who is really the right hand of the evil emperor, you should hear what your REAL (nonfictional) leaders are saying. Hate crime? Arab attacked for supporting Israel
An Iraqi immigrant who is a poet and writer was brutally assaulted last month in an apparent hate crime. What made it apparent was the giant Star of David the attackers carved into his back. He had recently published a poem expressing sorrow over the 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust -- for that he was attacked by Arabs who weren't happy with the support. But will it be labeled a hate crime? STORY.
Glenn Beck a credible source?
Word of advice for any college students wanting to use Glenn Beck as a source for any kind of paper or project...DON'T! Last night on GBTV one student told how his teacher scolded him for using "Arguing with Idiots" as a source for a project, but when he listed the indexed sources and hid Beck's name for the same points he suddenly got praised. Is the Constitution a piece of political advertising?
From the St. Petersburg Times: Last month, the Nature Coast 912 Project donated thousands of U.S. Constitution booklets to the Hernando and Citrus school. The goal was to get a pocket-sized booklet into the hands of every eighth-grader. The donation, however, prompted officials in both districts to consider: When does a copy of the Constitution and other historic documents become political material or advertising? Unbelievable when a school will not hand out a copy of the Constitution that has been doanted - incredible. Get the full story from radio today.
