Federal Reserve to Monitor Billions of Online Convos for 'Fed'
The Federal Reserve plans to monitor when the word "Fed" is used online, determine the mood of the conversation, and identify "key bloggers" and "influencers." Computerworld | By Darlene Storm | Sep 27, 2011 5:21 pm
How often do you mention the word 'Fed' online? There is about to be a new breed of Big Brother "watchers" and electronic surveillance on billions of online conversations before eavesdropping on the emotion behind how the 'Fed' was used. The monitoring will include identifying and reaching out to "key bloggers" and "influencers."
ZeroHedge reported the Federal Reserve Bank will soon monitor billions of conversations on social networking sites to know who mentions "Fed" as well as the sentiment in which it was used. The Federal Reserve is looking for a "Communication Group" to monitor social media platforms. The Fed expects the Watchers to be "timely and proactively aware of the reactions and opinions expressed by the general public as it relates to the Federal Reserve and its actions on a variety of subjects."
The Philadelphia Freedom Center is pleased to welcome our mentor and leader, David Horowitz to Philadelphia to speak about his new book, A Point in Time:The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next.
David shocked the political left when he abandoned 1960s radicalism to become a conservative. Founder and current president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, David is also founder and editor of FrontPage Magazine. He also founded Students for Academic Freedom, Newsrealblog.com, Discoverthenetworks.com, and is the author of over 20 books.
A Point in Time:
The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next
Part memoir and part philosophical reflection, A Point in Time focuses on man's inevitable search for meaning - and how for those without religious belief, that search often leads to a faith in historical progress, one that is bound to disappoint. Horowitz agrees with Arcus Aurelius, whose stoic philosophy provides a focal point for the book, "He who has seen present things has seen all, both everything that has taken place from all eternity and everything that will be for time without end..."
Horowitz remembers his father; a political radical who put his faith in just such a redemptive future. He examines this hope through the other great figure who organizes these reflections, the Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky, whose writings foreshadowed the great tragedies of the social revolutions to come. Horowitz draws on eternal themes: the need we have to make sense out of the lives we have been given, our desire to repair the injustices we encounter, and the consequences of our mortality.
Interweaving episodes of his own life with the writings of the philosopher and the novelist, Horowitz explores how we provide meaning to an apparently senseless existence and the dire consequences that follow from seeking to redeem it by attempting to make a perfect world out of the imperfect one in which we find ourselves.

This event should give us the tools to organize effectively and make a real difference in our state and our county. Politics belongs to those who show up.

Training for members of Phoenixville and King of Prussia branches
If you're not already aware of it, the "Social Media" have become a routine way of communicating and exchanging ideas. Social media is now widely used - probably every elected representative in the state capitals and in Washington have their own Facebook and use Twitter.
Political action groups make extensive use of them, As do private individuals, companies and non-profit groups.
It's time for our own Tea Party to learn these tools and make use of them. For that reason, we've made arrangements for Daria DiGiovanni to conduct a hands on, how to session.
Daria has worked with a number of Tea Parties, teaching them social media as well as creating their web sites.
Training will be conducted in the King of Prussia area, and will consist of a single, three-hour session. Day and time to be announced. There will be a small cost - we're working out the details, but it's likely to be $10 or less, and will be held within the next 30 days. We don't know if this training will be offered again in the foreseeable future.
Please respond to this email immediately so we can plan and schedule the training.

What would the Framers think of the modern American Presidency? These are some of the questions that author Kenneth C. Davis will address. He is the author of the popular Don't Know Much About... book series as well as America's Hidden History: Untold Tales of the First Pilgrims, Fighting Women, and Forgotten Founders Who Shaped a Nation and A Nation Rising: Untold Tales of Flawed Founders, Fallen Heroes, and Forgotten Fighters from America's Hidden History.
Thursday, November 3rd at 7:30PM: John Fea, "Was American Founded as a Christian Nation? How Did the Founders Understand the Relationship Between Church and State?" Property Tax Reform and the Cost of Education - An Outstanding Round Table Discussion
When: Friday, October 14, 2011 at 6:00 PM

THE BIG PICTURE ON PROPERTY TAX REFORM AND THE COST OF EDUCATING OUR CHILDREN!!
Our round table of three outstanding speakers: Nathan Benfield, David Baldinger and Dr. Richard Brake
THE COST OF EDUCATION GOES UP, UP, UP AND OUR PROPERTY TAXES KEEP GOING UP, UP, UP! WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CHANGE THIS?
No discussion on property tax reform is complete without talking about what it is costing to educate our children and whether or not they are getting the education they deserve, according to Nathan Benfield, Director of Policy Analysis for the Commonwealth Foundation. Nate has researched and written on public policy issues including taxation, government spending, education reform and transportation funding. He has frequently provided testimony to Pennsylvania House and Senate committees on various issues including education.
David Baldinger a full-time volunteer for the Pennsylvania Coalition of Taxpayer Associations (PCTA) will be with us to explain the School Property Tax Elimination Plan that permanently eliminates all school district property taxes as well as eliminating local school district earned income taxes (EIT). PCTA says Statewide, current school district budgets increase, on average, at twice the rate of inflation! And, "no tax should have the power to leave you homeless". David started this work in 2004 and since has become one of PA's leading experts on the subject.
Dr. Richard Brake is the Director of Educational Programs at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI), a non-profit educational foundation with a mission to "Educate for Liberty"- by inspiring college students to discover and embrace principles that make America prosperous, moral, and free. Dr. Brake lives in Berwyn with his family and is currently an elective member of the TE school board. Dr. Brake has documented the failure of America's top universities to teach students the founding history, texts, and institutions of our constitutional republic. His commentary on this disturbing trend has appeared in media outlets nationwide.
PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO YOUR GROUPS.See attached flyer for details. Jaime
A friend of mine asked that I pass this on too like minded people.... I ask the same of you... Thanks, Glenn
Dear Glenn,
I hope this memo finds you and your daughter doing well.
Please share this flyer with your like-minded friends and neighbors. I'm scheduled to give a presentation entitled "Citizen's Request for Reconsideration of a Work" - how to remove objectionable material from the curriculum. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover how to remove objectionable teachers from the school district.
Judical Watch is Demanding Answers Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:
"The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2
But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.
We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action? True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step. For more information email info@truethevote.org or go HERE to sign up now!

Thursday 3-4pm "America's Black Shield" - Ted Hayes and Terrance Lang
Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked.
So here it is. A one page, quick description of Agenda 21 that fits on one page. I've also included for the back side of your hand out a list of quotes for the perpetrators of Agenda 21 that should back up my brief descriptions.
A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. Research, know your details; discover the NGO players in your community; identify who is victimized by the policies and recruit them to your fight; and then kill Agenda 21. That's how it must be done. The information below is only your first step. Happy hunting.
New Meeting Schedule for the Concerned Citizen's Group. The Concerned Citizen's Group will no longer meet weekly on Wednesdays and instead we will be having our "weekly" meeting at various government meetings around the Delaware Valley area: town councils, school boards, county commissioners, zoning boards, water boards, etc.
We will still have monthly meetings on Saturday's. The next monthly meeting will be on Saturday, October 8th at P J Ryan's, 231 Bridge Street, Phoenixville - 6pm. Radio Talk Show Host Maggie Roddin will do a presentation on U.N. Agenda 21 and have any updates that may have come from the U.N. or local sustainable development . . . don't forget hay is now deemed a pollutant by the EPA . . . no hay, no crops, no animals, no food. We will also be showing a movie on U.N. Agenda 21 at the October 8th meeting.
Please join Americans for Prosperity Foundation and thousands of grassroots activists for the 5th annual Defending the American Dream Summiton Friday and Saturday, November 4-5 at the Washington Convention Center in downtown Washington, DC.
Last year, more than 2,600 of our best activists descended on Washington for the Summit to demonstrate to elected officials, government bureaucrats, and the national media that the grassroots movement is alive and well. We focused on reining in out-of-control spending and taxation, advancing sound free market public policy, and in a very real way, defending the American Dream.
Special bus packages are running from PA and for only this week you can register for an additional $70 off those all-inclusive bus packages. Sign up now to take advantage of this great opportunity! Use the code "Bus70" when registering.
Bus packages from PA include round trip transportation and hotel accommodations on top of all the other benefits of the Defending the American Dream Summit.
Earlier this year we announced a major event for this fall, "The Doctrine of Abrogation: Open the Koran Day."
We have scheduled this event for the weekend of October 28 - 30, 2011, which is close to the two year anniversary of the Ft. Hood jihadist massacre perpetrated by Major Nidal Hasan (pictured at right).
If you would like to learn more about this national event, or would like to host a local venue, please click here.
Please read the description of the event and the sign-up instructions carefully, and then access the sign-up form at the bottom of the page.
Also, if you would like to study the Koran, we have a resource to recommend. The Qur'an Dilemma is an accurate, readable English translation that contains commentaries and analysis, including commentaries on the doctrine of abrogation, the history of the codification of the Koran, chronological sequence of the Koran, and the status of women in the Koran. 2012 Presidential Candidate Selector or Obama, His Allies & Critics Matching Quiz
Politicians have already indicated their 2012 presidential aspirations. This matching quiz includes President Obama, top members of his administration, Obama's most vocal critics (Boehner, Cantor, etc.) and likely White House prospects (Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal, etc.). You may select a position for every issue, or just select issues important to you. The political figures' positions are based upon their voting records, special interest group ratings and their statements in the public record. In cases where there is no known public record or statement, these politicos are not given a score on that issue. We add candidates, revise their views and include new issues as they become known or change. Check back often for updates.
Earlier this year, I urged you to go to theaters to see Atlas Shrugged: Part One and share its message of limited government, free markets and individual liberty with family, friends and neighbors. Based on Ayn Rand's classic novel written in 1957, Atlas Shrugged: Part One was immediately celebrated as a "made for Tea Party film."
The film is now finally set for its much-anticipated release on DVD. As a FreedomWorks member, you can pre-order a limited edition version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One featuring special bonus features from FreedomWorks. Pre-order It Now!
Atlas Shrugged: Part One is set in a not-so-distant future in which government has taken control of businesses, bureaucrats have impose burdensome regulations on the economy and entrepreneurs are rapidly disappearing from society. Their disappearances are all linked to a man named John Galt, a mysterious figure who leaves this desperate world wondering: "Who is John Galt?"
I know many of our members were disappointed that Atlas Shrugged: Part One, a film that had been attempted and scrapped numerous times since the novel debuted over 50 years ago, didn't play in a theater in their area. The release of this limited edition FreedomWorks version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One DVD is a great opportunity to own a part of film history. Get It Now.
As I've said before, Atlas Shrugged: Part One has the opportunity to introduce millions more around the world to the philosophy of freedom. This DVD is a great gift for family and friends who care about the principles of limited government, free markets and individual liberty. Give A Gift.
While activists have many reasons for getting involved in this grassroots movement-TARP, the stimulus, ObamaCare-I know that for me I wasn't initially motivated by a piece of legislation or a midterm election. My conversion happened many years ago when I picked up a dog-eared copy of the 1,000 page tome we know as Ayn Rand's masterpiece, Atlas Shrugged.
By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN Published on DickMorris.com on September 27, 2011
For twenty years - long before 9/11 - the danger of terrorists armed with surface to air missiles shooting at passenger planes has been the secret fear of many top political leaders. In the late 90s, a terrorist network was nabbed trying to bring them into Newark Airport, but the airline industry and the government have done nothing to equip passenger airplanes with any defense against these always deadly missiles.
Now Barack Obama has committed the ultimate sin: He has let 20,000 surface-to-air missiles escape from military depots in Libya. According to ABC News "U.S. officials had once thought there was little chance that terrorists could get their hands on many of the portable surface-to-air missiles that can bring down a commercial jet liner. But now that calculation is out the window, with officials at a recent secret White House meeting reporting that thousands of them have gone missing in Libya." An estimated 20,000 of these "portable, heat-seeking missiles have gone missing from unguarded Army weapons warehouses."
Senator Barbara Boxer, of the Senate's Commerce, Energy, and Transportation Committee said that "matching up a terrorist with a shoulder-fired missile, that's our worst nightmare.
And now, thanks to Obama's carelessness and his unnecessary decision to intervene in Libya, it may be our future reality.
ABC News describes the missing missiles as "four to six-feet long and Russian-made, [they] can weight just 55 pounds with launcher." They are accurate within a range of more than two miles. That a terrorist could sit on a boat off JFK airport and shoot down a passenger plane as it ascends could now be a real possibility.
In the Iraq War, during the run-up to the 2004 election, there were reports of unguarded US military depots from which insurgents allegedly stole thousands of explosives. The story broke in the week before the election and Kerry took down all his other ads and focused on this issue, first reported in the New York Times. By Election Day, it was proven that the report was bogus, adding to Kerry's woes. Now, faced with this massive blunder and security threat, we hear nothing but the sounds of silence from any of the mainstream media except, to its immense credit, ABC News.
We need to assign a top priority to hunting down these missiles. In Afghanistan, our troops jumped through hoops to corral all the Stinger Missiles left over from the Russian War. This potential leak of these dangerous weapons is vastly more threatening. Obama needs to face this issue squarely and publicly. And we all need to learn the cost we may pay from having elected a rank amateur as president.
I said yesterday that Herman Cain is now the center of gravity for the GOP's 2012 candidates. Today, Fox News shows a meteoric rise for Herman Cain. And it is pretty much all at Rick Perry's expense.
Perry is down 10 points to 19%. Herman Cain has skyrocketed to 17%. They are in statistical tie with Mitt Romney who is at 23%. Last month, Romney was at 22%.
This is telling in a number of ways.
First, Perry really has had as bad a week as many of us have been saying and he could not apologize fast enough for that "heartless" remark. He finally did today.
Second, on the national scene these debates seem to matter.
Third, Herman's message is really resonating.
But most significantly for me is just how stagnant Mitt Romney is. Even more so, when asked who the voters have most in common with, Rick Perry leads the rest of the field with 17% and Herman is in second place at 14%. Mitt Romney? Only 12% of the voters think they have something in common with him.
This again suggests that primary voters are trying desperately to find an alternative to Mitt Romney and Perry's performance over the past few weeks, culminating in that debate, has given folks cold feet.
Perry needs to get out now with his jobs plan and get back on the jobs message.
Cain? He needs to translate this into some serious fundraising. The quarterly deadline is September 30th, so if you are a Cain fan, you better pony up. Because the message next week is not going to be his polling, but his money. Same goes for Perry.
Today's been the single biggest polling day in my estimation since the 2010 elections. Three major releases all containing interesting data. The third and most surprising of those comes from Fox News, which shows Herman Cain not just in third place, but taking a top-tier position usually held in recent weeks by Michele Bachmann or Ron Paul.
Recently, Congresswoman Shiela Jackson-Lee went on the air with Tavis Smiley of PBS. During her appearance she was kind enough to explain something to all those crazy conservative bloggers. "Shut up!" And while we're all zipping the soup-coolers, we're also supposed to lay off the racial politics.
For those of us hoping for greater detail, we are still unsure as to whether we should "Go to Hell" first, and then shut the yaps, or whether that works the other way around. However, she is handy with a totally non-racial and uncontroversial piece of advice for anyone who expects to do business with the Federal Government once Barack Obama's new jobs bill has been passed.
Quinnipiac put out a pair of new polls, focusing on the Republican primary race in Pennsylvania and in Ohio. They have some problems that limit their utility, but I believe they will get much attention today because of their top line results, so it's time to take a look anyway.
Why the attention? Romney bucks the national trend again to lead in both states.
The facts: These are university polls of registered Republican voters, mobile and land line handling. 423 Republicans in Ohio for an MoE of 4.8, 541 Republicans in Pennsylvania for an MoE of 4.2.
Explain to a liberal how James Brown's "It's a Man's World" is the definitive take down of Mary Wollstonecraft, Simone de Beauvoir, Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, and Germaine Greer.
Researchers at the Argonne National Laboratory this week showed how an electronic voting machine model that's expected to be widely used to tally votes in the 2012 elections can be easily hacked using inexpensive, widely-available electronic components.
Roger Johnston, head of the Vulnerability Assessment Team at the U.S. Department of Energy's science and engineering reseaech lab, said the hack, which requires about $25 and very little technical expertise, would let cybercriminals "flip" votes gathered on Diebold Accuvote TS machines and change election results without raising any suspicion.
September 28, 2011 Reading the Tea Leaves by Guy Rodgers, Executive Director ACT! for America
Consider the following news items.
1)
A recent nationwide poll, jointly conducted by two veteran pollsters, a Democrat and a Republican, found that over 76% of respondents DISAPPROVE of U.S. courts applying sharia law. The poll also found that 68% oppose the Ground Zero Mosque.
2)
Ten Muslim students were found guilty of disrupting the speech of the Israeli ambassador to the United States. The ambassador had been invited to speak at the University of California-Irvine last year, when these Muslim students, in a pre-planned, orchestrated effort, attempted to shout him down. ACT! for America chapter leaders and members in California bombarded the university with phone calls and emails demanding action be taken against the students and the Muslim Student Union, which organized the disruption.
The jury rejected arguments for the students that this obnoxious effort to shut down free speech was free speech protected by our Constitution.
The leader of CAIR-Los Angeles called the Muslim students "true American heroes" and falsely alleged in a press release that the students were "a target of heavy-handed prosecution." On his blog site he defends sharia law in a video. CAIR's true agenda shines through again.
3)
In an article in the August 29th edition of The Washington Times Weekly Edition, Saeed Khan attacked legislation proposed in Michigan titled "American Laws for American Courts." This is the legislation ACT! for America has successfully gotten passed in Tennessee and Arizona that prohibits courts from using foreign law, and by extension sharia law, in certain areas of law.
Khan, a lecturer at Wayne State University in Detroit, claimed that Muslim-Americans have become an "easy target" by Americans who "fear" minorities. In doing so he made this astonishing statement: "To call someone the 'M-word' [Muslim] has replaced the old 'N-word.'"
This is in the same vein as the Muslim state representative in Michigan who made the outrageous and dishonest claim that support of "American Laws for American Courts" is "racism at its core."
This in spite of the fact that a moderate Muslim coalition has come out in support of "American Laws for American Courts" and the law protects Muslim women from the discriminatory nature of sharia law.
4)
At a recent CAIR conference in Chicago, one of CAIR's leaders told the participants that CAIR is raising money to fight "American Laws for American Courts" wherever it is introduced.
What does all of this mean? What do the "tea leaves" tell us?
I first discussed this in an email three few weeks ago. These recent developments tell us that we are witnessing a measureable shifting of the tide. The American people are gradually awakening, becoming aware of threats associated with radical Islam, notably sharia law. What's more, they are increasingly ignoring the bogus allegations of "racism," "Islamophobia," and "intolerance."
Our opposition sees what is happening. But since they can't rebut the factual information we and others are putting out about sharia and radical Islam, they are left to play the only card they have been playing-name calling. This is why they have ramped up their invective and are ranting and raving even more hysterically than they have in the past.
We are in the middle of a slow but sure seismic change, a seismic shift compared to where our nation was four years ago, when I joined ACT as Executive Director. This is the shift we have been working so hard to bring about. And while it doesn't mean we've "won," it DOES mean we have seized the momentum.
Our efforts going into the 2012 state legislative sessions have never been more important or more timely. The issue is simple.
Will we be able to fully capitalize on this seismic shift in public opinion, or will the savage propaganda attacks leveled at us by CAIR, its allies and enablers, blunt our momentum?
We are nearing the end of our fall Patriot Partner campaign, and we still have a ways to go to reach our goal of 400 new Patriot Partners. If you are not already a Patriot Partner, and you are able to support us with a $19 gift each month, please click here and select the $19 Patriot Partner level.
When you do, we'll ship you our new resource, "Unmasking the Enemy Among Us: Information Warfare and the Muslim Brotherhood." (Click the image below to see a two minute clip from the DVD.)
Please help us reach our goal so that we can fully execute our state legislative plan for 2012 and aggressively combat the avalanche of misinformation, disinformation, and propaganda that is going to be hurled at us by our opponents who are desperate to stop our plan in its tracks.

The Obama Administration is quickly trying to contain the damage in another potential foreign policy debacle, this time with nuclear-armed Pakistan. Last week, Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, dropped a bombshell that rocked U.S.-Pakistani relations.
In testimony before Congress, Mullen declared that the military intelligence service of this supposed U.S. partner is directing the Haqqani network, a militant group responsible for attacks on Americans, including the 20-hour assault on the U.S. embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, that left 27 dead.
The revelation causes immediate concern for the United States, and The Heritage Foundation believes it must result in punitive policy toward Pakistan if Islamabad continues its pattern of defiance. Yet Administration officials, quoted anonymously in a front-page Washington Post story this morning, hit out at the messenger, Admiral Mullen. One told the paper that Admiral Mullen "overstates the case." This Pentagon official admitted that, yes, the Pakistanis have been "guiding Haqqani and using them for their purposes," but somehow this does not involve killing Americans.
Employers' health-care premiums increased 9 percent this year, according to a new survey. The cost of family coverage topped $15,000 for the first time.
Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas) has called on the White House to appoint an independent investigator to look into the Obama Administration's decision to approve a $535 million loan guarantee for Solyndra, the solar company that went bankrupt this month.
At last week's presidential debate in Florida, Rick Perry said something that made the audience gasp in disbelief. He said critics of in-state college tuition for illegal aliens "have no heart." Welcome to Compassionate Conservatism 2.0.
The Perry tactic of debate by slander was an eye-opener for many conservatives, and it probably contributed to his poor showing in the Florida straw poll that followed the debate. Republicans are in no mood for a replay of the Bush amnesty plans.
Or Perry's poor showing in the Florida straw poll might have something to do with a recent report about the highly touted "Texas jobs created by Perry's pro-growth policies." The Center for Immigration Studies has discovered that 81% of the 279,000 jobs created in Texas from 2007 to 2011 went to non-citizens, a high number of them illegal aliens.
What is not yet as widely known about Perry is that he extends his taxpayer-funded compassion not only to illegal aliens but also to Muslim groups seeking to whitewash the violent history of that religion. Perry endorsed and facilitated the adoption in Texas public schools of a pro-Muslim curriculum unit developed by Muslim clerics in Pakistan.
Iranian naval vessels to be deployed near U.S. sea borders: commander
TEHRAN - The Navy commander says Iran plans to deploy naval vessels in the Atlantic Ocean near maritime borders of the United States.
"As the global arrogance (forces of imperialism) have a (military) presence near our sea borders, we also plan to have a strong presence near the U.S. sea borders with the help of the soldiers who are loyal to the vali-e faqih (supreme jurisprudent)," Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Tuesday.
The top commander added the presence of Iranian naval units in the Bab el-Mandeb, the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Suez Canal is a great honor for the Iranian nation and other Islamic countries.
However Iran's naval operations will not be limited to these bodies of water and "we should have a strong presence in all open seas," he insisted.
Also on Monday the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy signaled a possible presence of Iran's naval vessels near the U.S. waters.
Commenting on the proposal for the establishment of a direct military hotline between the U.S. and Iran, Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said, "When we go to the Gulf of Mexico, we will establish direct communication with them. In the view of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the illegitimate presence of the U.S. in the Persian Gulf makes no sense."

Fatah Central Committee Member Abbas Zaki Calls Netanyahu and Obama "Scumbags" and Says: "The Greater Goal Cannot Be Accomplished in One Go"
If there is only one video you watch today, please make it this one. A top Palestinian-Arab leader explains that their goal is not to get a state but to destroy Israel, and their claims of peace are lies. Watch and share. Thanks. Steve
To all of our Jewish friends and supporters on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year -- L'Shanah Tovah!
2012: A Titanic Struggle
Yesterday, Obama's top advisor, David Axelrod, said the 2012 campaign was going to be a "titanic struggle." That may be the only thing Axelrod and I agree on! As you will read below, the 2012 elections will be a titanic struggle for the heart and soul of America.
Right now your support will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Your $5.00 donation will become $10. Your $25 gift will become $50. Your $100 gift will become $200 and so on.
The housing authority in Jerusalem just took another step forward in the approval process to build new housing units. No big deal, right? Wrong! Obama's State Department bureaucrats immediately issued a statement condemning Israel for this provocation, calling it a threat to the peace process.
Why? Because the Palestinians want East Jerusalem as their new capital, and they intend to have it as a "Jew-free" zone. Thus new homes for Israeli Jews become a threat to peace.
Here's an idea: Instead of Obama and the State Department's "ethnic cleansing crowd" focusing on whether Israel should build homes, they should examine the agenda of the likely leaders of a new Palestinian state. That agenda isn't about a "Jew-free" East Jerusalem. It is about a Jew-free Middle East!
Just a few days ago, Abbas Zaki, a member of the Fatah Central Committee, told Al-Jazeera this about the preferred strategy to accomplish their ultimate goal:
"The settlement [with Israel] should be based upon the borders of June 4, 1967. When we say that the settlement should be based upon these borders, President [Abbas] understands, we understand, and everybody knows that the greater goal cannot be accomplished in one go. If Israel withdraws from Jerusalem, evacuates the 650,000 settlers, and dismantles the wall -- what will become of Israel? It will come to an end. If we say that we want to wipe Israel out....C'mon, it's too difficult. It's not [acceptable] policy to say so. Don't say these things to the world. Keep it to yourself."
(Many thanks to the great research group MEMRI for this quote.)
I am still waiting for someone in the Obama Administration to condemn Zaki's call for a second Holocaust.
Christie: Obama Dividing America
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie addressed a sold-out audience at the Reagan Library last night. While reiterating previous statements that he would not run for president, Christie fired a withering broadside against Obama's campaign of division. Consider this exceprt:
"President Obama prepares to divide our nation to achieve re-election. This is not a leadership style, this is a re-election strategy. Telling those who are scared and struggling that the only way their lives can get better is to diminish the success of others. Trying to cynically convince those who are suffering that the American economic pie is no longer a growing one that can provide more prosperity for all who work hard. Insisting that we must tax and take and demonize those who have already achieved the American Dream. That may turn out to be a good re-election strategy for President Obama, but is a demoralizing message for America."
Gov. Christie is right. The Washington Post wrote this week that Obama's campaign strategy will focus on "ethnic minorities and core liberals." To get out a massive vote from the left, Obama has to demonize YOU and anyone who questions him.
Here's one example. Leftists at MSNBC are blasting the Associated Press for being "inherently racist." What was AP's sin? It accurately transcribed Obama's speech before the Congressional Black Caucus. That makes about as much sense as Morgan Freeman's recent remarks about Tea Party members. But as you can see, they are not trying to defend Obama's failed policies; they are trying to draw attention away from them.
We have written repeatedly that Obama's only shot at reelection is to scare enough Americans into voting for him. How do you do that? You tell homeowners that they are losing their homes because millionaires and billionaires aren't paying their fair share in taxes. You tell seniors that in spite of the Democrats' record spending and deficits, it's Republicans who want to kill Medicare and Social Security. And you tell blacks, as a liberal representative recently did, that conservatives want to see them "hanging from trees."
As Governor Christie noted, this is a far cry from Obama's rousing rhetoric of unity and transcending partisanship. But 2012 will not be 2008. Hope and change have given way to fear and smear.
This is what we are fighting against, friends. Please stand with us today! Click here to support CWF right now!
Democrat Solution: Suspend Elections
Democrats are reading the same polls we are, and they are getting desperate. So much so, in fact, that Governor Beverly Perdue (D-NC) thinks we ought to just cancel the next election! Here's what Gov. Perdue told a Rotary Club meeting yesterday:
"I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that."
Perdue's staff immediately went into damage control mode and suggested that her remarks were a joke, "obvious hyperbole." I don't think so. Listen for yourself.
If there is any more talk from the left about suspending elections, I think we should try a more rational solution: Rather than abandoning our commitment to freedom and democracy, let's move the election forward -- and VOTE NOW!
Investigating Planned Parenthood
Kudos to Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL). The chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee has launched an investigation of Planned Parenthood's finances and its use of your tax dollars. It's about time!
For years Planned Parenthood has thrived as liberal politicians made it a priority to fund the nation's largest abortion provider with your tax dollars. Now the group is reeling as one state after another reprioritizes its spending in these tough times. Not surprisingly, cutting off Planned Parenthood is frequently at the top of the list.
Also not surprisingly, Democrats and Planned Parenthood are on the attack, accusing Stearns of being an extremist with an "ideological vendetta." On the contrary, Rep. Stearns is merely looking out for the taxpayers' best interests. The extremists are those on the left, including Barack Obama, who place such a high priority on funding the destruction of innocent life with taxpayer dollars.
My friends, let me remind you once again that this investigation would not be happening in Nancy Pelosi's House. This is the difference a conservative majority can make for our values!

Man arrested in 'step-by-step' plot to blow up Capitol, Pentagon
By Jordy Yager - 09/28/11
The FBI arrested and charged a man Wednesday for allegedly plotting to blow up the Capitol and the Pentagon.
The 26-year-old Massachusetts man, Rezwan Ferdaus, was arrested as part of an FBI sting operation in which he was made to believe he was working with members of al Qaeda, who were actually undercover agents.
Two years ago the Egyptian city of Cairo, the largest city in the Arab world and the "timeless city" of Obama's Cairo speech, the heart of the Arab Spring, was suffering from a garbage crisis. The crisis had a very simple cause, the pigs that used to eat the garbage were killed to prevent the spread of Swine Flu.
The pigs living in "Garbage City" had served as both organic garbage disposals and food sources for the Zabaleen, families of marginalized Christian Copts who made a living by collecting the garbage, reselling the inorganic garbage and feeding the organic garbage to pigs. The system worked fine so long as there were pigs, but without the pigs, Cairo's streets are filled with giant mounds of rotting garbage.
It might be shocking for most people to realize that the trash collection system for the largest city in the Arab world, the capital of what passes for Arab Muslim civilization, depended on a class of "untouchable" garbage collectors as young as eight years old, and their pigs to keep the city from drowning in its own garbage.
A system that is not simply medieval, but pre-medieval, that seems positively Bronze Age. But that is only because the Arab Muslim nations are not actually civilizations in the modern sense, they are post-colonized tribal clumpings with bits and pieces of borrowed governmental structures and technology that never quite work right. And underneath them is something far darker and more primitive, a miserably brutal and ruthless Levantine existence defined not by moral laws, but by tribal ones. And underneath them all are the pigs. Kill the pigs, and the system collapses.
Ted Belman. I beg to differ. Yes Israel has turned right/conservative but so has America. The liberal left got slaughtered in Nov '10. The last poll records that Americans are 3% more likely to identify as conservatives than three years ago.The Tea Party has shifted the balance and Republicans are totally in sync with the new Israel. The problem is that Jewish American and the Democratic Party that they embrace are the ones out of sync like the Left in Israel. It has been acknowledged that US/Israel strategic and military cooperation is at an all time high. The only thing out of sync was Obama's decision to undermine Mubarak, attack Libya and embrace the Brotherhood and al Qaeda.
Further more, after saying Meirsheimer and Walt were flawed, he embraces them. He quotes Gates and could similarly quote Pres Clinton, both of whom attacked Israel. Not only were they both wrong but they both represent Obama's attempt to undermine Israel. The three of them aren't in...
"We are in the world of doublethink and doublespeak, where words are emptied of their normal meanings and turned into their opposites...in a world where language depends on politics and on majorities of the General Assembly."
So wrote the late and deeply lamented Jeane Kirkpatrick 22 years ago, July 1989, in her brilliant and prescient essay in Commentary, "How the PLO Was Legitimized." For those who find themselves shocked by this week's diseased antics at the UN, Kirkpatrick examines their insidious origins. There is nothing new in bedlam.
It was December 1988. A special session of the UN General Assembly was convened in Geneva for a single purpose: To hear Yasir Arafat plead the cause of the PLO. "Arafat exulted on that occasion," Kirkpatrick writes.
And why not? One hundred fifty-four members of the UN had voted for this special session. Now his appearance was being treated as the diplomatic event of the year. The UN...
Israel should legally annex West Bank settlements in response to the Palestinians' recent bid for recognition in the United Nations, the leaders of several right-wing Knesset factions said in a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday.
The letter was signed by Likud chairman Ze'ev Elkin, Shas chairman Avraham Michaeli, Habayit Hayehudi chairman Uri Orbach, and the leader of the National Union faction Yaakov Katz.
In the missive, the right-wing MKs urged the prime minister to sanction the Palestinian Authority for what they called a "unilateral" move in the UN, saying that Israel had to make it clear that it would not agree serve as the Palestinians' "punching bag."
Among the steps mentioned in the letter to Netanyahu, the right-wing leaders mentioned the gradual annexation of all West Bank settlements; cutting Palestinian aid money; accelerated settlement building; cancellation of PA...
In the Washington Post's "On Faith" section, a story asks; 'Judaism without God? Yes, say American atheists'. You can have Judaism without G-d, much as you can have an "On Faith" section without anything to have faith in.
It's all a matter of definition. If you define Judaism by its covenantal document as a binding agreement between a people and the Creator of the universe, then an atheistic Judaism is a contradiction in terms. But if you define it as a cultural experience that calls us to social work and spirited debate, then it makes no real difference what you believe, so long as you volunteer at the Tikkun Olam soup kitchen.
What goes for Judaism, also goes for Christianity. The issue is not atheism, it's the nature of religion and what it is and what it isn't. Either religion is a specific belief in a deity accompanied by textual revelations, or it's the Democratic party with its own pulpit. ...
And the good news is, Bibi said in a JPOST interview he wouldn't renew the freeze.
Netanyahu said he had no intention of intervening with the Interior Ministry's District Planning Committee that is scheduled to meet Tuesday to discuss the construction of more than 700 housing units in Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood, located over the Green Line, even though the Quartet - in its statement Friday - called on "the parties to refrain from provocative actions if negotiations are to be effective," a veiled reference to construction beyond the pre-1967 lines.
"I don't think there is anything new," Netanyahu said of the plan.
"We plan in Jerusalem. We build in Jerusalem. Period. The same way Israeli governments have been doing for years - since the end of the 1967 war.
"We build in Jewish neighborhoods, the Arabs build in Arab neighborhoods - that is the way the life of this city goes on and develops for its Jewish and non- Jewish...
Fear not, New Yorkers. A mosque will not soar over Ground Zero.
Hooray?
The news should have reverberated all over the city -- The Ground Zero Mosque Blinked!
But if you shut your eyes for a millisecond, you likely missed it.
Last month, in an amazing feat of contrition mixed with public-relations savvy, the man who controls 51 Park Place, the spot where developers threatened to build a 15-story, $100 million mega-mosque and Islamic center in the shadow of Ground Zero -- said such a project will not be built.
Originally, Park51 (formerly Cordoba House) was envisioned as a monster complex, complete with sex-segregated swimming pool and religiously segregated prayer spaces. But buried deep inside the mosque-supportive New York Times, on a Saturday, was an amazing mea culpa by Sharif El-Gamal, lead developer of the boneheaded project, which, polls demonstrate, is opposed by 70 percent of New Yorkers.
FILE - In this June 15, 2011 file photo, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa Jackson testifies on Capitol Hill in Washington. President Barack Obama is sacking a controversial proposed regulation tightening health-based standards for smog, bowing to the demands of congressional Republicans and some business leaders. In a statement Friday, Obama said he had ordered Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lisa Jackson to withdraw the proposal, in part because of the importance of reducing regulatory burdens and uncertainty for businesses at a time of rampant uncertainty about an unsteady economy. (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak, File)
The Environmental Protection Agency has said new greenhouse gas regulations, as proposed, may be "absurd" in application and "impossible to administer" by its self-imposed 2016 deadline. But the agency is still asking for taxpayers to shoulder the burden of up to 230,000 new bureaucrats - at a cost of $21 billion - to attempt to implement the rules.
The EPA aims to regulate greenhouse gas emissions through the Clean Air Act, even though the law doesn't give the EPA explicit power to do so. The agency's authority to move forward is being challenged in court by petitioners who argue that such a decision should be left for Congress to make.
"[W]hen the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man, who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually." --George Mason
Editorial Exegesis
"New documents reveal the Department of Justice lied to Congress and show how U.S. officials bought guns with tax dollars and then made sure no one stopped their transfer to Mexican drug cartels. The funneling of thousands of American guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels in the operation known as Fast and Furious was not a botched sting operation or the result of bureaucratic incompetence. It was not designed to interdict gun trafficking, but to facilitate it. We now know that it involved not just the use of straw buyers, but also agents of the federal government purchasing weapons with taxpayer money, ordering the licensed dealers to conduct the sales off the books, then calling off surveillance of the gun traffickers and refusing to interdict the transfer of the weapon or arrest the people involved. ... A two-year-old C-SPAN video shows Deputy Attorney General David Ogden, who would resign nine months later after less than a year's service, telling reporters at a Justice Department briefing of major policy initiatives to fight the Mexican drug cartels. 'The president has directed us to take action to fight these cartels,' Ogden began, 'and Attorney General Holder and I are taking several new and aggressive steps as part of the administration's comprehensive plan.' Ogden said the administration's plan, at the president's direction, included the ATF's 'increasing its efforts by adding 37 new employees in three new offices, using $10 million in Recovery Act funds and redeploying 100 personnel to the Southwest border in the next 45 days to fortify its Project Gunrunner,' of which Operation Fast and Furious would be a part. ... Fast and Furious should spark our pursuit of the truth, even if the trail leads to the Oval Office." --Investor's Business Daily
"The entire [Fast & Furious] operation ended with only 20 indictments of straw purchasers -- indictments that could have happened immediately upon transfer of the weapons, stopping the flow. In fact, the straw purchasers, at issue, were known to be straw purchasers from the get-go. The indictments only took place at all because U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered using the weapons authorized for free flow by ATF and DOJ. ... So what was the real goal of the DOJ and ATF? It certainly wasn't to shut down access to arms for the cartels -- the ATF was agreeing to such access. It wasn't to stop straw purchasers -- the ATF was signing off on the straw purchasers. It wasn't to track the movements of the cartel -- there was no way to do that. It was, very simply, to establish for political reasons that American guns were being used in crimes by foreign cartels." --columnist Ben Shapiro
"Last week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency was telling everyone who would listen that they needed billions to replenish their disaster relief fund right now, or else they would run out of money today. ... Then, suddenly, FEMA told Senate Democrats that all of their previous warnings were overblown. The agency was able to recover $40 billion from ongoing long-term projects, and instead of being broke, they actually had $114 million in the bank, just enough to get them into the next fiscal year. Which is convenient, because that allows them access to all of next year's budgeted disaster relief spending. Since there is now no need for unbudgeted disaster relief spending this year, there is now no need for spending offsets. ... If anybody ever wants to know why conservatives never believed Secretary Tim Geithner when he said the government was going to run out of money this August, this $114 million FEMA find is a great example why." --Washington Examiner columnist Conn Carroll
"The night before the Florida straw poll, Morgan Freeman appeared on CNN. He is maybe the country's most beloved actor. He declared the Tea Party racist, and the Republicans at large racist. He said our attitude is, 'Screw the country. We're going to do whatever we [can] to get this black man out of here.' Apparently, Tea Party activists want to replace 'this black man' with Herman Cain. But does the Left regard Cain as black? He was raised by his janitor father and housemaid mother in Georgia. President Obama was raised by his white grandparents in Hawaii. But he's a left-winger, you see. So he wins -- he's blacker than thou, or blacker than Cain." --National Review's Jay Nordlinger
Essential Liberty
"If European governments and the U.S. Congress ceased the practice of giving people what they have not earned, budgets would be more than balanced. For government to guarantee a person a right to goods and services he has not earned, it must diminish someone else's right to what he has earned, simply because governments have no resources of their very own. ... It turns out that if Congress taxed away our entire $14 trillion 2011 GDP and put it in the bank, it would just barely cover Social Security and Medicare liabilities. That observation suggests that we can't tax our way out of our fiscal mess. In order to avoid permanent stagnation or total economic collapse, governments must start the process of reducing welfare spending. I wouldn't recommend cold turkey for a heroin addict, neither would I recommend cold turkey for all those people who have been addicted and made dependent upon government handouts. We must find a compassionate way to wean people off government." --economist Walter E. Williams

Energy Department approves $737 million solar loan guarantee By Andrew Restuccia
The Energy Department will announce later Wednesday that is has finalized a $737 million loan guarantee for a Nevada solar project.
The decision comes several weeks after Solyndra, a California-based solar manufacturer that received a $535 million loan guarantee from the Obama administration in 2009, filed for bankruptcy and laid off 1,100 workers, setting off a firestorm in Washington.
McCaughey: Obama Had to Send Health Law to High Court
Wednesday, 28 Sep 2011
By Martin Gould
The Obama administration had no choice but to refer challenges to its signature healthcare law direct to the Supreme Court. Without that decision, uncertainty could have lasted for years, expert and former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey tells Newsmax.
"I was thrilled when I heard," she said. "The country would have been outraged if the administration had prolonged this litigation and allowed the nation to remain in legal limbo.
"States and businesses are spending in total billions of dollars preparing for a law that may never go into effect."
Opposition to the law has remained constant, not just because of what it says but because of government actions, such as granting waivers and uncertainty over whether it would be overturned, McCaughey said in the exclusive interview.
If you've never been able to sit in on a Supreme Court hearing, let me be the first to tell you: they are generally pretty boring. Between the legal rhetoric and cramped quarters, the hearings aren't the most invigorating things to watch. Nonetheless, I highly encourage people to visit the high court-especially this fall, when there is potential for a blockbuster lineup of cases.
The justices are meeting today to decide on the select few cases, out of hundreds of appeals, they will rule on before June. Of particular note: the first of several legal challenges to Obamacare. While the court has not stated whether it will take the case, there is at least one petition for certiorari pending, with several more expected to follow in the next few months.
While the court is unlikely to rule on Obamacare until sometime next year, the cases the Supreme Court has already placed on its fall and winter docket promise some legal fireworks.
Congress Should Halt FAA Plan to Destroy the Privacy of Noncommercial Flights
By David Addington September 22, 2011
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation needs to collect substantial information about aircraft flying in U.S. airspace in order to ensure safety in air travel. The FAA also must share flight data with the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and law enforcement authorities to assist them in protecting the nation from hostile or unlawful use of airspace or aircraft.
More than a decade ago, the FAA began to feed to private-sector entities a constant flow of FAA-collected flight data on aircraft operating under instrument flight rules, including aircraft tail number, flight origin, current location, and flight destination. But the FAA was careful to allow noncommercial aircraft owners and operators to protect their privacy. Upon the request of such an owner or operator, the FAA ceased to make public the information about a private flight. Such FAA respect for flight privacy helped protect personal safety, personal privacy, and sensitive commercial information.
North Carolina Governor Suggests Suspending Elections to Spur Economic Solutions

June 12: North Carolina governor Bev Perdue speaks after vetoing the GOP-authored $19.7 billion budget in Raleigh, N.C.
The solution to the nation's jobs crisis: suspend congressional elections?
That was the proposal put forward by North Carolina's governor, who was trying to make a point at a Rotary Club event that political considerations are hindering efforts in Washington to tackle unemployment and economic stagnation.
"I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover," Gov. Bev Perdue, a Democrat, said, according to a report by the Raleigh News & Observer. "You want people who don't worry about the next election."
You have probably been hearing a lot about the sweeping new and proposed regulations the Obama Administration and various federal agencies are handing down. Because of the sheer volume of these regulations, keeping up with them has, no doubt, been very difficult. AFP wants to make it easier, and our sister organization, AFP Foundation, has been tracking key regulations.
We sincerely hope this helps you to better understand the scope and impact of the various federal regulations you have been hearing about. Please be sure to forward this information on to your friends and family. We must continue to spread the word about regulatory over-reaching.
Sincerely,
Americans for Prosperity

Longshoremen Assault Police During Protest
Stephen Gutowski September 28, 2011
Remember a few weeks ago when 500 or more longshoremen stormed a port in Washington state? They were angry not that the port didn't hire union labor but that it didn't hire the right union labor. So they took 6 security guards hostage and trashed the place.
Well that thuggery was apparently not enough for these union members. After taking out their anger on the media they have moved back to violence. While blocking train tracks to the port they stormed previously at least two of the longshoremen attacked police officers. The attack was caught on camera:
This column by ACRU General Counsel and Senior Fellow for the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) Peter Ferrara was published September 28, 2011 on The American Spectator website.
Barack Obama is on a far worse political trajectory than Jimmy Carter was. First, the Democrats lost Sen. Ted Kennedy's seat to a Republican in ultraliberal Massachusetts who campaigned against Kennedy's signature issue of national health insurance. Nothing that dramatic happened while Carter was President.
Then Democrats suffered historic, grievous losses in the 2010 midterm elections, with a New Deal size loss in the House of 63 seats, and a loss of 6 seats in the Senate. In Jimmy Carter's 1978 midterms, Democrats lost only 15 seats in the House and 3 seats in the Senate.
Now in the recent special election in New York City, Democrats have begun to lose seats they haven't lost since before the New Deal.
That is so fitting, because President Obama is not an anomaly in today's Democrat party. Quite to the contrary, he represents the party's heart and soul today, which is well to the Left now even of George McGovern in 1972. Witness the reelection of Far Left San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi as House Democrat leader even after the historic voter repudiation of the Pelosi Democrat House majority in 2010. Witness the choice of Far Left screamer Debbie Wasserman Schultz as leader of the Democratic National Committee. Witness Obama EPA Chief Lisa Jackson, Obama Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, and the numerous similar, utterly clueless, ideologically rigid, far left appointees throughout the Obama Administration.
This column by Susan A. Carleson, CEO of the American Civil Rights Union (ACRU) and Chairman of the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP), was published September 26, 2011 on Townhall.com.
Confusion is the politician's favorite device; clarity, the statesman's most potent weapon.
Supporters of limited government too often lose Washington policy debates because we don't challenge our opponents on their use of weasel words. Here are some needed clarifications that will help conservatives win more debates.
Revenues vs. Taxes
How many times a day do we hear about "increased revenues" and "government investments" from an unquestioning media who either don't understand or are complicit in their use of clever euphemisms for "tax increases" and "higher government spending?" Increased revenues and investments in the private sector are a good thing -- they signify economic growth. But when the left applies these terms to government activity, watch out -- they mean higher taxes and higher spending. We know from experience (i.e. real numbers) that you actually increase tax revenues (receipts) when you decrease (lower) tax rates. (If you're a woman, like me, it works like something going "on sale." I'm "saving" by spending more!)
When tax rates are increased, tax revenues tend to decrease because people change their behavior to avoid paying the taxes. Similarly, when tax rates are cut, government revenues tend to increase again because taxpayers change their behavior toward greater productivity, increased economic activity and more hours of work, or simply more faithful tax-law compliance.
This column by ACRU Senior Fellow Robert Knight was published September 26, 2011 in The Washington Times. Rodney King showed up at the United Nations on Wednesday and instructed everyone there to, well, get along.
Actually, it was Barack Obama, but his message was the same as the one from the man whose beating by police (after a 117-mph car chase) triggered the Los Angeles riots of 1992 when the cops were acquitted.
During the riot, Mr. King came out and famously said, "People, I just want to say, you know, can we all just get along?"
The topic at the U.N. was Mr. Obama's wish for the Palestinians and Israelis to be at peace in two nations, side by side. Meanwhile, the Security Council was considering recognizing an independent Palestinian state.
But the real message seemed to be Mr. Obama's taking the dais as king of the world. He touched on every theme imaginable to make "our children" happy, wealthy and wise. He talked about curing various diseases; stopping war and climate change; advancing science, prosperity and, yes, even homosexual rights, throwing in a line suited to a fundraiser in San Francisco.
Of course, with his converting the U.S. military into the largest homosexual-sensitivity training unit in history this week, why should we be surprised?
Mr. Obama spoke as if the interests of the world were the same as those of the United States. He stroked the attendees repeatedly, reminding them of the U.N.'s importance and noting that "the United Nations helped avert a third world war."Read the Entire Column

State Legislatures Create New Corporate Form to Advance Economic Fascism in US . By Stephen Poole RightSideNews.comAlthough the legislation appears to have died in committee, it is important that activists across the country become fully aware of the "benefit corporations" strategy because the sponsoring nonprofit B Labs Corporation is introducing the same boilerplate legislation in all 50 states. Indeed, such legislation has already been passed in Maryland, Vermont, New Jersey (home of "conservative" and global-warming believer Chris Christie), Virginia, and Hawaii. And the same tactics that were used successfully in those states will be employed elsewhere, beginning with glowing news stories about how these new corporations will be all about creating societal benefits rather than raking in cash -- which the following articles will prove is an outright lie. Dr. Williams what are some of your thoughts quickly looking over the past 50 years in America?
Well in terms of manufacturing, employment is way down but manufacturing output is way up... in the last couple of decades... what it means is If you just added up the dollar amount of our manufacturing as a separate nation our manufacturing would be the 4th richest nation on the face of this earth. [But then there's] the massive moral problems associated with the decline of our nation and I think that the biggest problem among the American people is an overall disrespect of the United States constitution. The politicians are doing precisely what the American people what them to do-to use the power of their office to take the property of one American and bring it back to them whether it´s social security, Medicare, prescription drugs, highway construction funds, aid to higher education. You've got to hand it to Barack Obama. Not only is he taxing Americans into oblivion, he's taxing our credulity as well. He has once again added to his prolific list of gaffes which thanks to World Net Daily National Review and Talk radio has gotten at least some limited exposure (but not surprisingly hardly a word in the mainstream media) -he has confused Jews with Janitors.
Or did he confuse Jews with billionaires? It doesn't take a Freud to recognize this slip. Those pesky Jews are weighing heavily on the mind of our Dear Leader.
Maybe Jews have been on his mind since he was forced last week to feign support for Israel at the UN. Only four months ago in another Freudian departure from his TelePrompTer, he advocated Israel's return to indefensible 1967 borders which would lead to the end of the Jewish State.
From Herman Cain's mouth has come a message that is now on the lips of many Republicans: "Yes, We Cain!"
Having turned in impressive performances in several debates, the former head of Godfather's Pizza won a surprise victory Saturday in a straw poll of Florida GOP activists. The Sunshine State tally is only a straw poll, but it has predicted the Republican nominee correctly in the past three presidential elections.
One original sin was the separation of the corporate and personal tax, giving lawyers, accountants and the wealthy a chance to game the system.
By JOHN STEELE GORDON
Whether the "millionaires and billionaires" are actually paying their fair share of taxes is a matter for the electorate to decide. After all, fairness is hardly an objective standard.
Before the modern era, however, the federal tax system was manifestly unfair by any reasonable standard, grossly biased in favor of the well off. Ironically, attempting to fix that unfairness is what has brought us to the present moment, with a federal tax system that is grotesquely complex, often arbitrary, and corrupted by mutual back-scratching between members of Congress and influential lobbyists.
Presidents Wilson (left) and Taft, fathers of the modern income tax
After the Civil War, nearly all the wartime taxes-including the nation's first income tax-were repealed and the federal government relied mostly on the tariff for revenues. It provided the government with more than ample peacetime income. In 1882, the government had revenues of $403 million, but expenses were only $257 million, a staggering budget surplus of nearly 36%. The reason the tariff was so high was, ostensibly, to protect America's burgeoning industries from foreign competition.
Ford's success stirs UAW resentment in labor talks
Now they want the same deal that GM gave them
Ford's turnaround over the last five years has resulted in big profits and won its CEO a reputation for brilliant management.
But those same achievements are stirring resentment among many of its factory workers. And that is complicating contract talks between the company and its union employees.
Health-benefit costs increase the most in six years, surpassing $15,000
Thanks to Obamacare
The cost for businesses to buy health coverage for workers rose the most this year since 2005 and may reach $32,175 for a family in 2021, according to a survey of private and public employers.
The average cost of a family policy climbed 9 percent in 2011 to $15,073, according to a poll of 2,088 private companies and state and local government agencies by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation in Menlo Park, California, and the Chicago- based American Hospital Association's Health Research and Educational Trust.
Between now and Election Day, President Obama will have to create 8 million jobs just to tie for last place with the previous worst recovery since the Great Depression. Meanwhile, Americans are rightly demanding dramatic overhauls to get this country back on its feet. What does the president do? He doubles down on his philosophy of continuing the beatings until morale improves.
My fellow presidential candidates, to varying degrees, have been tinkering around the edges. With all due respect, you don't prune weeds - you pull them out at the roots.
President Barack Obama topped up his re-election war chest with a string of successful West Coast fundraisers that ended on Monday and showed soft poll numbers had not dented his ability to raise big money.
Despite tough economic times, supporters shelled out for events from Seattle to San Diego that likely raised upward of $5 million in two days, paying up to the legal limit of $35,800 to hear Obama speak.

Company aims to create renewable electricity...from poop
Great idea
Believe in the power of poop. It's an initiative being pushed by one South Florida energy company, which is now on the edge of being approved in Fort Lauderdale to help generate home electricity.
Power Green Energy, a Pompano Beach start-up hoping to turn sludge from waste-water treatment plants into renewable electricity for the state, is awaiting word today from the Fort Lauderdale City Commission to approve a rezoning request that would implement the system by the middle of next year. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the company has received the City Commission's tentative approval to initiate operations that would feed into Florida Power & Light Co.'s power-lines by mid-2012.
Peter Orszag has just about had it with American democracy. It's sloppy. It's inconvenient. And it rarely sides with the advice that "virtually all responsible economists" agree upon. In a new article for The New Republic, the former Obama director of Management and Budget presents the argument, "Why we need less democracy." His prescriptions for de-democratizing the country are far less exciting than Obama critics might imagine: no death panels, detainment camps or Five-Year Plans. He would, however, like to diminish the role of Congress and heighten the role of independent commissions. Orszag writes:
To solve the serious problems facing our country, we need to minimize the harm from legislative inertia by relying more on automatic policies and depoliticized commissions for certain policy decisions. In other words, radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic.
Perdue jokes about suspending Congressional elections for two years
Didn't sound like a joke
File this in the random-things-politicians-say file. Speaking to a Cary Rotary Club today, N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue suggested suspending Congressional elections for two years so that Congress can focus on economic recovery and not the next election.
"I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that," Perdue said. "You want people who don't worry about the next election."
In his recent speech to a joint session of Congress, President Obama announced the details of a new jobs bill that calls for $447 billion in government spending to create about 1.3 million jobs.
Do the math - that's a whopping $344,000 per job!
Even more startling than the price tag is the fact that the new bill utterly neglects to address the devastating impact of illegal immigration on America's job market.
At present, there are millions of unemployed Americans who want, need, and deserve a job. Yet we have some seven million illegal aliens working in construction, factory work, agriculture, hospitality and food services.
Do the math - since the Department of Homeland Security says it costs $23,000 to deport one illegal alien, we could create 5.3 million jobs by deporting illegal aliens who have jobs for about $161 billion.
Whether you consider this bitterly ironic, insulting, or just plain intolerable, please support FAIR by contributing $20 today to our vital efforts to publicize the real costs of this administration's immigration policies to Americans.
Do the math - with unemployment rising above nine per cent and a record number of Americans living below the poverty line, it's absolutely essential that the White House start to put the needs of American citizens first.
This is not selfish. This is not greedy. This is FAIR.
Donate $20 today and register your opposition to the administrative amnesty that is usurping Congress' authority over American immigration law, hurting American families, and burdening future generations with a staggering debt.

Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.
