Quote:
"To the efficacy and permanency of your Union, a government for the whole is indispensable. No alliance, however strict, between the parts can be an adequate substitute; they must inevitably experience the infractions and interruptions which all alliances in all times have experienced. Sensible of this momentous truth, you have improved upon your first essay, by the adoption of a constitution of government better calculated than your former for an intimate union, and for the efficacious management of your common concerns. This government, the offspring of our own choice, uninfluenced and unawed, adopted upon full investigation and mature deliberation, completely free in its principles, in the distribution of its powers, uniting security with energy, and containing within itself a provision for its own amendment, has a just claim to your confidence and your support. Respect for its authority, compliance with its laws, acquiescence in its measures, are duties enjoined by the fundamental maxims of true liberty. The basis of our political systems is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government. But the Constitution which at any time exists, till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole people, is sacredly obligatory upon all. The very idea of the power and the right of the people to establish government presupposes the duty of every individual to obey the established government."
- George Washington (1732 - 1799), first President of the United States (1789 - 1797), in his Farewell Address, delivered in 1796.

Fitzpatrick may face tea party challenge
phillyBurbs.com | By Gary Weckselblatt | Posted: Tuesday, September 27, 2011
A tea party leader is "listening" to people who want her to challenge Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick in a Republican primary next year.
Jennifer Stefano, of the conservative Americans For Prosperity, said Monday that Fitzpatrick's recent vote against a GOP bill to ban the National Labor Relations Board from ordering any employer to shut down plants or relocate work, has her "listening to people who would like me to be" a candidate.
The director of policy for labor and energy for AFP said she initially "dismissed" overtures from individuals she would not name to seek the 8th District Republican nomination in 2012. But after Fitzpatrick's Sept. 15 vote she told her courters "I will listen to you now."
"They are a rogue federal agency and Fitzpatrick voted against reining them in," Stefano said of the vote, which passed the House 238 to 186 but did not make it out of the Senate. "Any Republican who stands for the principles of the party would not have voted that way. It was a bad vote. It's going to make union bosses richer and put union and nonunion workers out of work.

Training for members of Phoenixville and King of Prussia branches
If you're not already aware of it, the "Social Media" have become a routine way of communicating and exchanging ideas. Social media is now widely used - probably every elected representative in the state capitals and in Washington have their own Facebook and use Twitter.
Political action groups make extensive use of them, As do private individuals, companies and non-profit groups.
It's time for our own Tea Party to learn these tools and make use of them. For that reason, we've made arrangements for Daria DiGiovanni to conduct a hands on, how to session.
Daria has worked with a number of Tea Parties, teaching them social media as well as creating their web sites.
Training will be conducted in the King of Prussia area, and will consist of a single, three-hour session. Day and time to be announced. There will be a small cost - we're working out the details, but it's likely to be $10 or less, and will be held within the next 30 days. We don't know if this training will be offered again in the foreseeable future.
Please respond to this email immediately so we can plan and schedule the training.

David Horowitz Luncheon & Book Signing
The Philadelphia Freedom Center is pleased to welcome our mentor and leader, David Horowitz to Philadelphia to speak about his new book, A Point in Time:The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next.
David shocked the political left when he abandoned 1960s radicalism to become a conservative. Founder and current president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, David is also founder and editor of FrontPage Magazine. He also founded Students for Academic Freedom, Newsrealblog.com, Discoverthenetworks.com, and is the author of over 20 books.
A Point in Time:
The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next
Part memoir and part philosophical reflection, A Point in Time focuses on man's inevitable search for meaning - and how for those without religious belief, that search often leads to a faith in historical progress, one that is bound to disappoint. Horowitz agrees with Arcus Aurelius, whose stoic philosophy provides a focal point for the book, "He who has seen present things has seen all, both everything that has taken place from all eternity and everything that will be for time without end..."
Horowitz remembers his father; a political radical who put his faith in just such a redemptive future. He examines this hope through the other great figure who organizes these reflections, the Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky, whose writings foreshadowed the great tragedies of the social revolutions to come. Horowitz draws on eternal themes: the need we have to make sense out of the lives we have been given, our desire to repair the injustices we encounter, and the consequences of our mortality.
Interweaving episodes of his own life with the writings of the philosopher and the novelist, Horowitz explores how we provide meaning to an apparently senseless existence and the dire consequences that follow from seeking to redeem it by attempting to make a perfect world out of the imperfect one in which we find ourselves.

What would the Framers think of the modern American Presidency? These are some of the questions that author Kenneth C. Davis will address. He is the author of the popular Don't Know Much About... book series as well as America's Hidden History: Untold Tales of the First Pilgrims, Fighting Women, and Forgotten Founders Who Shaped a Nation and A Nation Rising: Untold Tales of Flawed Founders, Fallen Heroes, and Forgotten Fighters from America's Hidden History.

Property Tax Reform and the Cost of Education - An Outstanding Round Table Discussion
When: Friday, October 14, 2011 at 6:00 PM
Where: Phoenixville Country Club, Phoenixville, PA 19460 (610) 933-3727
Food and beverage service is available. New menu!
THE BIG PICTURE ON PROPERTY TAX REFORM AND THE COST OF EDUCATING OUR CHILDREN!!
Our round table of three outstanding speakers: Nathan Benfield, David Baldinger and Dr. Richard Brake
THE COST OF EDUCATION GOES UP, UP, UP AND OUR PROPERTY TAXES KEEP GOING UP, UP, UP! WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CHANGE THIS?
No discussion on property tax reform is complete without talking about what it is costing to educate our children and whether or not they are getting the education they deserve, according to Nathan Benfield, Director of Policy Analysis for the Commonwealth Foundation. Nate has researched and written on public policy issues including taxation, government spending, education reform and transportation funding. He has frequently provided testimony to Pennsylvania House and Senate committees on various issues including education.
David Baldinger a full-time volunteer for the Pennsylvania Coalition of Taxpayer Associations (PCTA) will be with us to explain the School Property Tax Elimination Plan that permanently eliminates all school district property taxes as well as eliminating local school district earned income taxes (EIT). PCTA says Statewide, current school district budgets increase, on average, at twice the rate of inflation! And, "no tax should have the power to leave you homeless". David started this work in 2004 and since has become one of PA's leading experts on the subject.
Dr. Richard Brake is the Director of Educational Programs at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI), a non-profit educational foundation with a mission to "Educate for Liberty"- by inspiring college students to discover and embrace principles that make America prosperous, moral, and free. Dr. Brake lives in Berwyn with his family and is currently an elective member of the TE school board. Dr. Brake has documented the failure of America's top universities to teach students the founding history, texts, and institutions of our constitutional republic. His commentary on this disturbing trend has appeared in media outlets nationwide. |

Judical Watch is Demanding Answers Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:
 | "The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2 |
But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.
We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action? True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step. For more information email info@truethevote.org or go HERE to sign up now!

Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked.
So here it is. A one page, quick description of Agenda 21 that fits on one page. I've also included for the back side of your hand out a list of quotes for the perpetrators of Agenda 21 that should back up my brief descriptions.
A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. Research, know your details; discover the NGO players in your community; identify who is victimized by the policies and recruit them to your fight; and then kill Agenda 21. That's how it must be done. The information below is only your first step. Happy hunting.
What is Sustainable Development?

Agenda 21 and have any updates that may have come from the U.N. or local sustainable development . . . don't forget hay is now deemed a pollutant by the EPA . . . no hay, no crops, no animals, no food. We will also be showing a movie on U.N. Agenda 21 at the October 8th meeting.

2012 Presidential Candidate Selector or Obama, His Allies & Critics Matching Quiz
Politicians have already indicated their 2012 presidential aspirations. This matching quiz includes President Obama, top members of his administration, Obama's most vocal critics (Boehner, Cantor, etc.) and likely White House prospects (Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal, etc.). You may select a position for every issue, or just select issues important to you. The political figures' positions are based upon their voting records, special interest group ratings and their statements in the public record. In cases where there is no known public record or statement, these politicos are not given a score on that issue. We add candidates, revise their views and include new issues as they become known or change. Check back often for updates.

Pre-Order Atlas Shrugged Now!
Earlier this year, I urged you to go to theaters to see Atlas Shrugged: Part One and share its message of limited government, free markets and individual liberty with family, friends and neighbors. Based on Ayn Rand's classic novel written in 1957, Atlas Shrugged: Part One was immediately celebrated as a "made for Tea Party film." The film is now finally set for its much-anticipated release on DVD. As a FreedomWorks member, you can pre-order a limited edition version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One featuring special bonus features from FreedomWorks. Pre-order It Now! Atlas Shrugged: Part One is set in a not-so-distant future in which government has taken control of businesses, bureaucrats have impose burdensome regulations on the economy and entrepreneurs are rapidly disappearing from society. Their disappearances are all linked to a man named John Galt, a mysterious figure who leaves this desperate world wondering: "Who is John Galt?" I know many of our members were disappointed that Atlas Shrugged: Part One, a film that had been attempted and scrapped numerous times since the novel debuted over 50 years ago, didn't play in a theater in their area. The release of this limited edition FreedomWorks version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One DVD is a great opportunity to own a part of film history. Get It Now. As I've said before, Atlas Shrugged: Part One has the opportunity to introduce millions more around the world to the philosophy of freedom. This DVD is a great gift for family and friends who care about the principles of limited government, free markets and individual liberty. Give A Gift. While activists have many reasons for getting involved in this grassroots movement-TARP, the stimulus, ObamaCare-I know that for me I wasn't initially motivated by a piece of legislation or a midterm election. My conversion happened many years ago when I picked up a dog-eared copy of the 1,000 page tome we know as Ayn Rand's masterpiece, Atlas Shrugged. That's the power of this book and this film. Pre-order It Now. In Liberty, Matt Kibbe President and CEO, FreedomWorks

Morning Bell: How Harry Reid Manufactured a Crisis Over Disaster Aid
Rob Bluey
September 27, 2011
Listening to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) or reading The New York Times yesterday gave the impression that disaster relief victims were suffering from a lack of government aid.
"Without additional funding," Reidwarned, "thousands of people who have lost literally everything they owned will be forced to go without food and shelter."
The New York Times, reporting from Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, noted, "Uprooted and desolate, hard-working people in this part of the country expect a bit more from their government."
Yesterday, with Reidonthebrinkofforcingagovernmentshutdown, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced thatthingsaren'tsodire. The agency has $114 million on hand for the remainder of the week, enough to get through the end of the fiscal year on September 30. Read more:

RedState Morning Briefing
For September 27, 2011
1. Because Herman Cain Runs For SomeTHING, Not Against SomeONE
I've gotten to know Paul Begala sitting with him in the greenroom at CNN and he has some of the most consistently awesome political anecdotes in modern America. Feel free to disagree with him on politics and policy as I usually do, but in any encounter with Begala you'll come away knowing more about American politics than you entered the room knowing.
One of the anecdotes he shared with me once has stuck with me as perhaps the most insightful commentary on winning elections in America. Anne Richards was quite a popular governor in Texas and George W. Bush still managed to beat her rather handily. After Richards' defeat, she called President Clinton and told him the lesson she'd learned from her defeat.
Governor Richards told President Clinton that it was not enough to run on what you did as a leader, but rather to run on what you were going to do as a leader. This connects in with one of the most consistent themes in American politics - people want to vote for something, not vote against someone.
In 2008, people voted against the Republicans, but if you asked most people they didn't see themselves voting against Bush and the GOP so much as they were voting for something new and shiny - a new way, a new face, a new hope, and some change.
This is why Herman Cain won the straw poll.
2. Job Creation and the Rich: The Facebook Story
President Obama is on the prowl for new targets for (1) raising more tax revenue and/or (2) demonizing "the rich" for campaign purposes. Among Obama's proposals, besides raising taxes on high-income individuals generally, is to more than double the tax rate paid by many private equity and venture capital investors from 15% to 35%, by reclassifying sales of their businesses (or shares in their businesses) as ordinary income rather than capital gains (more detail here and, drawn from prior versions of the proposal here and here). A common trope being retailed in some form or another by Obama and his allies is that taxing the wealthy and private equity and venture capital has no impact on job creation. As is common to liberal arguments, rather than argue that they are proposing a worthwhile tradeoff, liberals deny even the possibility that their policies involve any tradeoffs whatsoever. As well they might: the voters are hardly going to accept anything right now that impedes the growth of private sector businesses and jobs.
Now, there are a lot of economic angles to this argument, which have been ventilated in more detail elsewhere. But a concrete example may be useful in illustrating how wealthy individuals, private equity and venture capital contribute to the growth of businesses and jobs: the story of Facebook.
3. Have You People All Taken Gardasil Shots Recently?
I'm being inundated with angry emails that I have not linked to or championed the Zogby poll that OMG shows Herman Cain winning in a landslide!!!!!! OMG!!!!!
It is as if millions of Republicans took the Gardasil shot and suddenly developed rapid onset of the mental retardation Michele Bachmann's been warning about.
The reason I have not cited and you should not cite the Zogby poll is because it is a Zogby Interactive poll which means it was done online.
4. Governor Bev Perdue of North Carolina Wants to Cancel Elections
Would it be a violation of Godwin's Law to point out that even the Nazis kept having elections even when we were bombing them? Heck, the United States continued having elections in the Civil War, World War I, and World War II. We didn't put democracy on hold just because we felt like it. There is this thing called the constitution.
But the constitution seems beside the point to one of America's least popular governors, Bev Perdue of North Carolina. Maybe brains and constitutional fidelity go together.
Perdue has declared that we should just suspend elections in 2012 for Congress until congressmen solve our economic problems. Given her lack of popularity and the fact that her unpopularity coupled with Obama's unpopularity will probably swing North Carolina to the GOP in 2012, I'm sure she was privately thinking we might as well suspend all elections next year.
After all, elections may matter, but they cost money.
5. Rick Perry's Immigration Problem vs. Mitt Romney's Healthcare Problem
I don't speak for all conservatives, but most every single conservative I know will gladly settle for Mitt Romney and support him over Barack Obama. Even the conservatives I know who right now are saying they could never support Mitt Romney will . . . when push comes to shove . . . support Mitt Romney.
The issue is that most conservatives, myself included, don't want to settle for Mitt Romney. I don't have a problem with him personally. He, his wife, and family are super nice people. But I think he is just wrong for this election and his positioning this year as a centrist when he positioned himself four years ago as a conservative is disturbing.
But at the top of the race we are confronted with two men who have two problems. Both are 10th Amendment issues and both are states right issues. And I think whether we like it or not, we should, as conservatives who believe the states should be engines of experiment, respect their right to solve problems in their states as they and their legislatures see fit.
You and I may not like Romneycare, but it was Mitt Romney and Massachusetts' decision.
You and I may not like Texas giving illegal aliens in-state tuition rates, but it was Rick Perry and Texas' decision.
Digging deeper though, there is a real and serious problem that distinguishes the two issues and gives me greater concern about Romneycare. And I'm afraid with so much pile on over the Texas immigration decision, it has distracted us from a core issue of Romneycare about which we should be more focused.
6. Mitt Romney's Health Care Problem
The big news yesterday on the health care policy front is that the 11th Circuit case against the individual mandate is headed to the Supreme Court before the 2012 election, not after. This means a decision about the constitutionality of the individual mandate is likely to come in mid-2012, after the Republicans have chosen a nominee but well before the election ramp up. This is good political news for nearly everyone in the race on the Republican side, with one obvious exception: Mitt Romney.
Let's back up a moment to explain why. There's one line that Romney used in Florida during the most recent debate which is still sticking in my craw today, and I'm having a hard time shaking it. Excerpt - in response to a question from Chris Wallace about Perry referring to Romney's Massachusetts' reforms as "socialized medicine".
7. GOP Plans to Cave on Transportation Spending
We've seen this show before. Republicans propose grand ideas to cut spending and implement free-market reforms; they speak ebulliently about their new ideas, and ...they summarily scuttle them and cave to the Democrats.
Earlier this year, Republicans proposed a commendable plan to end the bipartisan pork fest of surface transportation spending. Instead of continuing the inexorable expansion of transportation spending, House Transportation Committee Chairman John Mica proposed a six-year highway bill that actually cut spending from $286 billion to $235 billion. The bill was supposed to cap spending to the levels of its funding source; the 18.4-cent gasoline tax and the 24.4-cent tax on diesel fuel. Additionally, this bill would have eliminated 70 duplicative projects and cut spending on mass transit.
Two weeks ago, Republicans agreed to pass an eighth stop-gap highway bill, which will lock in the excess levels of spending until next April. They also passed the 22nd stop-gap FAA reauthorization bill, which will continue to fund the wasteful rural pork programs until next February.
Now CQ is reporting that Republicans plan to cave on the long-term bill altogether.

Ask how come, if liberals are so keen on equality and fairness, they're so much more money-grubbing than conservatives.
According to both the World Values Survey and the General Social Survey, left wingers are more likely to rate "high income" as an important factor in choosing a job, more likely to say "after good health, money is the most important thing," and agree with the statement "there are no right or wrong ways to make money." This was confirmed by Doug Urbanski, former business manager of libtard documentary-maker Michael Moore, who said: "He is more money obsessed than anyone I have known-and that's saying a lot."

From Howard:
It is a FACT that the Arab countries have permitted the "Arabs who lived in Palestine before 1948" to fester in "refugee camps" (more like small towns) supported by UNRWA and have either given these folks no rights or minimal rights in these countries..They are "kept" in a perpetual state of Welfare afforded to them by the UN...Israel, in the meantime, in the 1950's absorbed, supported, and settled an equivalent number of (over 750,000) Jewish refugees expelled, simply because they were Jews, with barely the shirts on their backs from countries like Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, etc. from 1948 to the early 1950's.......and these Jews left (and lost) all their property in those countries......and they have been and are productive participants in the development (and proud citizens) of Israel..... Shame on Lebanon and Hezbollah for discriminating and oppressing these Muslims who lived in Israel, and shame on all the other Arab countries who oppress these fellow Arabs....You will hardly ever see any of these FACTS reported in ANY Western media sources....but it is important to recognize how these Arab regimes have mistreated their fellow Muslims.....Is it any wonder that the Arab population in Israel does NOT wish to join in any new Entity outside of Israel ? The quality of their lives is better than it would be in any Arab Nation.....but our fellow Americans do not know the FACTS.......Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, (Yes) even Jordan treats the Muslim "refugees" worse than Israel would ever dream of treating them,........and we in the U.S. provide a large percentage of UN funds to support these folks ...It is about time that the Arab Gulf Nations like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Emirates, as well as Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, etc. ante up for the 60 years they have neglected and discriminated against their fellow Muslims.........Anyone out there really think this will happen ??????
Khaled Abu Toameh: The Palestinian victims no one talks about
National Post Jul 24, 2010
By Khaled Abu Toameh
When was the last time the United Nations Security Council met to condemn an Arab government for its mistreatment of Palestinians?
How come groups and individuals on university campuses in the United States and Canada that call themselves "pro-Palestinian" remain silent when Jordan revokes the citizenship of thousands of Palestinians?
The plight of Palestinians living in Arab countries in general, and Lebanon in particular, is one that is often ignored by the mainstream media in West.
How come they turn a blind eye to the fact that Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and many more Arab countries continue to impose severe travel restrictions on Palestinians?
And where do these groups and individuals stand regarding the current debate in Lebanon about whether to grant Palestinians long-denied basic rights, including employment, social security and medical care?

You will recall that the Law Forum run by Nitsana Darshan Leitner sent a " lawyer's letter" to Pres Bollinger of Columbia U advising him that Columbia U would be sued if the University hosted Ahymedinajad to a dinner.
The Law Forum advises,
Columbia University quickly backed away from the planned event and claimed that the University was not involved and it had been organized by a "private" Columbia student group. Whatever that is. In the wake of the public furor it was finally reported that the banquet had been canceled and that the Columbia students did not participate in meeting with the Iranian terrorist leader. Grover Norquist's New Muslim Protégé
Posted by Kenneth R. Timmerman on Sep 26th, 2011
"To illustrate the danger of the first approach of evil habit, the Arabs have a proverb, 'Beware of the camel's nose,'" wrote 19th century British author, Lydia Sigourney.
Why? Because once the camel gets its nose inside the tent, his body will soon follow. And once the camel gets inside the tent, the former occupants face a choice: leave the tent, or lie down in the camel's bed.
The Republican primary victory of Imad Afif "David" Ramadan in the 87th legislative district in Virginia on Aug. 23 reminds me of this Arab proverb - not because Ramadan is the camel's nose. If anything, he is the camel's tail.
Imad Ramadan is just the latest of a series of Muslim protégés discovered and promoted by Republican activist Grover Norquist, the man whose vicious personal attacks on conservative Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma over ethanol subsidies earlier this year (Norquist favored the corporate hand-outs; Coburn opposed them) prompted Coburn's chief of staff to respond that Norquist has become the "chief cleric of sharia tax law."
What's wrong with Muslims running for public office or assuming prominent positions in the conservative movement? Nothing at all - as long as they are clear about the primacy of the U.S. Constitution over Koranic (or Sharia) law.
Where does Imad Afif "David" Ramadan stand on this crucial question? The answer is - well, unclear. And that's when the camel begins to spit.

Education Georgia Middle School Assignment Depicts 'Positive' Aspects of Shariah Law
September 26, 2011 A Georgia middle school adjusted its lessons after a father complained that his daughter's homework assignment promoted Shariah law.
According to the Marietta Daily Journal, the assignment was supposed to teach students at Campbell Middle School about the pros and cons of school uniforms. It featured a letter from a woman who said she is "proud and happy" to be Muslim and to completely cover herself in public - and also that her husband could take another wife rather than divorce her if their marriage gets rocky:

Vanderbilt University Threatens to SHUT DOWN Four Christian Groups
Vanderbilt threatens to shut down Christian student groups
Email Vanderbilt University Chancellor Nicholas Zeppos and urge him to stop the university's religious discrimination against Christian groups on his campus.September 27, 2011
Vanderbilt University has placed four Christian student groups on "provisional status" after a university review found them to be in non-compliance with the school's nondiscrimination policy. If they remain in non-compliance, the student Christian groups risk being shut down. Vanderbilt says the student organizations cannot require that leaders share the Christian groups' beliefs, goals and values. Carried to its full extent, it means an atheist could lead a Christian group, a man a woman's group, a Jew a Muslim group or vice versa. Last year, an openly gay undergrad at Vanderbilt complained he was kicked out of a Christian fraternity. As a result, the school took action against five religious groups and said they violated Vanderbilt's nondiscrimination policy. All were placed on provisional status. Among the groups threatened with shut down is the Christian Legal Society because "Each officer is expected to lead Bible studies, prayer and worship at chapter meetings." CLS President Justin Gunter said, "We come together to do things that Christians do together. Pray, and have Bible studies." The school says, however, that if the Christian club requires leaders to be a Christian and espouse Christianity, it can be shut down. TAKE ACTION Send an email to Vanderbilt Chancellor Nicholas Zeppos. Urge him to stop the university's religious discrimination against Christian groups on his campus.

The Libs would NOT tell an Atheist group you have to have a Biblical-Christian Leader who will promote Creationism/Intelligent design!
The Libs wouldn't tell a Homosexual Group you have to have Anita Bryant or another Moral Conservative be your LEADER!
BUT these same Libs DO TELL a Christian person, family, church, group time and time again "YOU can NOT speak, meet, worship, march or protest! YOU Christians and Conservatives are 'intolerant'...and we just wont' tolerate intolerance!!'

In the Washington Post's "On Faith" section, a story asks; 'Judaism without God? Yes, say American atheists'. You can have Judaism without G-d, much as you can have an "On Faith" section without anything to have faith in. It's all a matter of definition. If you define Judaism by its covenantal document as a binding agreement between a people and the Creator of the universe, then an atheistic Judaism is a contradiction in terms. But if you define it as a cultural experience that calls us to social work and spirited debate, then it makes no real difference what you believe, so long as you volunteer at the Tikkun Olam soup kitchen. What goes for Judaism, also goes for Christianity. The issue is not atheism, it's the nature of religion and what it is and what it isn't. Either religion is a specific belief in a deity accompanied by textual revelations, or it's the Democratic party with its own pulpit. The issue comes up every time the left tries to insist that its version of Christianity and Judaism, where the worst sin imaginable is not driving a hybrid is the right one, because it's compassionate and spiritual. A spirituality that consists wholly of compassion and a compassion that consists wholly of following a left of center ideology while claiming that their grab bag of the welfare state, anti-war activism and environmentalism is highly spiritual. Take Rabbi Arthur Ocean Waskow, please. Waskow, a left-wing activist and a member of a non-theistic movement, and his disciples, are usually found wherever Israel is demonized and the mass murder of Jews by Islamic fanatics is promoted with the beatific smile of the hazed out humanistic fanatic. The paradox of a paragon of a humanistic un-religion making common cause with men who believe that their specific revelation entitles them to commit genocide is baffling. Or it would be if Waskow really was a humanist. In reality Waskow is a socialist with a pulpit. Even if it's only an imaginary one.

I wanted to confirm you heard the big news from last week -- that our new grassroots "Super PAC," FreedomWorks for America, is officially launched and ready for action.
The announcement has already sparked some heavy-duty news coverage, including:
- The Hill: "The group will fill a niche previously unfulfilled on the conservative side."
- The Washington Times: "[FreedomWorks for America] will showcase true grassroots, door-to-door voter outreach rather than flashy, expensive TV ads."
- The Daily Caller: "FWFA will also feature a website with an interactive platform that facilitates mobilization among activists."
- The New York Times: "But in a twist, the new group will raise its money in small-dollar increments from grassroots donors."
I would like to invite you to be a part of this new and very different arm of FreedomWorks. Here are a couple ways you can get involved today.
- Click here to pledge your time to defeating Barack Obama as a part of our unique grassroots efforts on the ground. As our efforts ramp up, we will reach out to involve you in our phone banking, sign-blitzing and door-to-door campaigns.
- Click here to chip in a donation to help launch FreedomWorks for America. As you can see, this organization is grassroots-based, meaning the majority of our donors are hardworking everyday Americans like you. Please donate, if you can.
There's no denying that the Left is taking notice, too. In fact, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) sent out a frantic fundraising email raving about FreedomWorks for America and the "major threat this poses to [their] 2012 plans."
They're right. We DO intend to ruin their plans to maintain a liberal majority in the Senate. And we also intend to increase the conservative margin in the House, and defeat Barack Obama in the Presidential race.
But we can't do any of it without the support of FreedomWorks allies like you.
Please, consider a contribution of $10, $25, $50 or even $100 or more today. Already left-wing groups are using FreedomWorks for America to scare up dollars from their special interest donors and union boss pals.
Your generous support is the only way we can fight back.
And once you've donated (if you are able) please click here to pledge your time to "fire" Barack Obama. After all, if anyone should be losing their job because of his policies, it's him!
Thanks very much for all your past support. I'm hopeful that you will continue to be so committed in you support as we continue with this exciting new venture.
Sincerely,
Matt Kibbe President and CEO, FreedomWorks

Reasonable people may ask when the United States will follow suit after today's revelations that taxpayers funded the transfer and ATF agents personally handed the guns over to murderous gang members. During the last Republican presidential debate, Herman Cain argued that, as a survivor of colon and liver cancer, he would have died if "Obamacare" had been in place when he sought critical treatment. It was a stunning statement, and it certainly underscores the real concern that people have with bureaucratic control of their health care. Critics of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA)-intended to make health care access universal-claim that it would not do enough to control costs, particularly costs of government healthcare entitlements. This criticism is not entirely justified. The Affordable Care Act includes several provisions for controlling healthcare costs. Those provisions to....

HHS Knew ObamaCare Program Was Unsustainable And Withheld Info from Congress By Judicial Watch

This week's Obamacare scandal du jour comes from a congressional panel that concludes the administration lied to push a costly long-term care program known as Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS). Internal documents obtained by lawmakers from a committee of House and Senate Republicans reveal officials in Obama's Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) were acutely aware that the program was unsustainable and suppressed the information from Congress and the public. Americans should get furious, and fast, about the abuses.
Start rattling the chains. Start ratcheting up the hue and cry. Fire up the masses. It's long past time to force mass resignations at, and possible prosecutions of members of, the Obama Justice Department -- and, more broadly, of the West Wing itself.
Forgive all the links, but the scope of the corruption is so large as to defy adequate descriptions, in a single column, of each abomination. The reality is that these Obama/Holder minions at DoJ are dangerous to the very heart of constitutional, republican (small 'r') government. Last fall in the Spectator's print edition I did a broad overview of the problems. In the September issue of The New Criterion, Andy McCarthy does a wonderful job outlining the problems with the Holder department and with other examples of Obamite executive overreach. Of course the Black Panther case, the dismissal of which I (on the Washington Times editorial page) and the Times' ace reporter Jerry Seper on the news side were the first to report in print (I later discovered that the fabulous Michelle Malkin wrote on it online a day or two earlier), still hasn't been adequately handled. And the outrageous DoJ blocking of non-partisan elections in Kinston, N.C., solely to benefit the Democratic Party , is now being examined in the courts, with the administration having lost, big, in the latest round.
More recently, the burgeoning scandal of the "Fast and Furious" gun-running blow-up, already a huge embarrassment for the Justice Department, keeps moving closer to the White House. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, for her part, denied direct knowledge of this dangerous idiocy but as Dexter Duggan reports at the Wanderer (sign-in required), the U.S. Attorney who ran the moronic program, Dennis Burke, has been sponsored throughout his entire career by Napolitano. First he worked for her when she was a prosecutor; then (quoting Duggan), "After Napolitano ascended to the governorship in 2003, her chief of staff was none other than Dennis Burke, who went on to be a senior adviser to Napolitano when Obama made her his secretary of Homeland Security in 2009. Obama, however, soon put Burke into Napolitano's old U.S. attorney job in Phoenix. Like Napolitano, Burke got the post as a political plum. It was expected the plum would ripen into bigger fruit, as it had for Napolitano." Read more: |

Where is the righteous indignation among black Americans at being portrayed as helpless children?
September 22, 2011 by La Shawn Barber
Only Democrats can get away with implying that blacks are too lazy, ignorant, or stupid to go down to the local DMV and obtain a driver's license or non-driver photo ID card.
Voter ID laws, designed to protect the integrity of the voting process, have been a hot topic in recent years. Politico reports that so-called civil rights groups have accused Texas Governor Rick Perry of signing a "strict" voter ID law that discriminates against blacks and Hispanics. Under the previous law, voters were allowed to show documents like utilities bills, bank statements, and paycheck stubs if they didn't have photo ID. The new law takes effect on January 1.
Is the Texas law discriminatory because it applies only to blacks and Hispanics? Or does the local DMV bar these groups from applying for driver's licenses or non-driver photo ID cards? Is their application fee higher than everyone else's? Perhaps blacks and Hispanics are disproportionately averse to posing for bad photos that add 20 pounds.

New York asks for waiver for military voter protections, Part 2
The Department of Justice granted a conference call with New York regarding their application to be exempt from military voting protections passed in 2009 for the 2012 election. Namely, New York has not changed laws to ensure that military voters serving overseas get their ballots in time to be counted. This is deeply unfortunate and military families from New York should be urging the Department of Justice and Defense to reject the waiver, now, without further delay.

U.S. citizenship should not be for sale
September 26, 2011
Outsourcing is not the only way we are losing American jobs to Communist China. The Chinese have figured out how to capture jobs inside the U.S. by using our EB-5 visas (employment-based, fifth priority).
Most Americans have never heard of this visa, but the Chinese are now planning to use it to build and run a casino labeled Maryland Live! near the Baltimore airport. Boasting 3,750 slot machines, this $440 million casino will be one of the largest in the country.
Failing to attract enough U.S. investors for this big-time gambling center, the promoters went to Shanghai in September and made a sales pitch to 50 rich Chinese to invest $500,000 each in this Maryland casino, which seems to offer a profitable return. The sweetest part of the deal, however, is that the investor's entire family will be rewarded with a set of U.S. green cards valid for life, a system called "investment immigration."
EB-5 visas were created to promote investment in depressed areas, but the area isn't depressed and Maryland's unemployment rate is about 2 percentage points lower than the nation's. Skillful gerrymandering produced a map to label a parking lot in the huge Arundel Mills Mall a "targeted unemployment area."
Don't count on the Maryland casino to produce good jobs for Americans. If the Chinese follow the pattern they used in building the San-Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, low-paid Chinese workers will be imported to build and staff the casino.

Things I Don't Care About This Week
Posted: 27 Sep 2011 11:21 AM PDT
(Steven Hayward)
The trial of Michael Jackson's doctor for involuntary manslaughter. The new network TV season. (Why is it that Hollywood always resembles the birds on the telephone line, who all take off in the same direction when the first crow squawks "Mad Men"?) Doonesbury. New York Times op-ed columns; all of them. The latest Everton soccer match. (Oops. Better take that one back.)
The NBA strike. The Real Housewives of Anyplace. (Though if someone brings us "The Real Housewives of Riyadh" I might tune in. And perhaps "Keeping Up With the Pelosis," a perfect study in hypocrisy.) The latest press release from CAIR. Brett Favre's latest comeback plans. Anything by or about Lady Gaga. Nancy Grace's "wardrobe malfunction" on "Dancing with the Doofuses." (Doofi?) The latest low-carb diet. Deepak Chopra. Michelle Obama. Joe McGinness. The latest news out of Argentina. The League of Women Voters. Who shot J.R.
But one thing I do care about, a little: Facebook's confusing new format. Can't Obama do something about that?
Solyndra Update
Posted: 27 Sep 2011 06:25 AM PDT
(Steven Hayward)
One of the points I make in my "President Solyndra" story in the Weekly Standard is that the loan guarantee program turned Solyndra from a $300 million mistake confined solely to stupid private investors into a $1 billion dollar mistake that took taxpayers for more than a half-billion, and that this is merely the largest (so far) emblem of the Obama administration's economic philosophy that is wiping out lots of capital that could be productive if it was invested elsewhere, by the private sector, of course, in, say, fossil fuel production, which has delivered a housing boom and 3.4 percent unemployment to North Dakota.
And keep in mind, too, the story that has been going around for almost two years now in Washington and lately ratified in the new Ron Suskind book, Confidence Men, that Obama and his senior political team essentially don't listen at all to their economic team.
The Los Angeles Times reports this morning that Obama's economic advisers tried to warn him that Solyndra was a bad idea, and that the loan guarantee program was poorly designed and likely to lead to bad results. As the story reports, "'It was completely predictable that there would be a colossal failure among the bets,' said one person familiar with the internal debate."
Read more: This Week's Climate Follies, Barack Obama Edition Posted: 27 Sep 2011 06:01 AM PDT (Steven Hayward) President Obama must be fairly rattled already about the prospect of losing to Rick Perry. A couple days ago Obama took a shot at Perry as "a governor whose state is on fire, denying climate change." Getting nervous, Mr. President? It's another perfect example of the non-falsifiability and complete flexibility of climate alarmism, which works like this: whenever there's a local weather pattern-winter snowstorms (after being told 10 years ago that England would never see them again, for example), or cool summers-that runs against the global warming narrative, it is dismissed as "weather," while any extreme local events such as tornadoes, hot weather, or drought are always called incontrovertible evidence that Global Warming Climate Change Is Happening! Watch DurbanWatch Posted: 27 Sep 2011 05:13 AM PDT (Scott Johnson) PJTV explains: On September 22 foreign ministers and heads of state attended the Durban III Conference at the United Nation's headquarters in New York City. It was the third in a series of international events sponsored by the UN whose stated purpose is to combat racism. However, history has shown that the Durban events promote, rather than combat, racism. The Hudson Institute and Touro College organized an event across the street from the UN at the Millennium Hotel in Manhattan. Their counter conference focused on the perils of racism associated with past and current Durban Conferences. Called "Durban Watch" for short, this event showcases a who's who of speakers from academia, public policy, journalism, human rights, politics and entertainment. PJTV has posted videos of most of the counter conference speakers. Roger Simon writes that the counter conference "featured a number of magnificent speakers from Jon Voight to the Sudan's Simon Deng.... And when I say 'magnificent' I am not in this instance being hyperbolic. I am not one who normally enjoys speeches at conferences. I guess I have too much of my own kind of ADD. But these speeches were riveting." The videos are posted here. I have watched several of them, starting with Mike Huckabee (who is excellent), and moving down the line. They are as Roger describes them. Please take a look. |

Tuesday, September 27, 2011 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer BREAKING NEWS: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie WILL NOT be a candidate for president in 2012. According to Fox News, Christie has made a "definitive, once and for all decision" against running for the White House next year. WE NEED YOU! In the items below you will read why it is so critical that we defeat Barack Obama and his socialist allies in Congress next year. (I hope we are making that clear in these reports every day.) But we can't do it without your help! I am disappointed that the response to our morning appeal has not been enough to counter Obama and his left-wing allies. Please take a few seconds right now to go to cwfpac.com and make your best donation to help us defeat Barack Obama. We need you, my friends. Thank you! (P.S. If you are a large donor and would be willing to "match" the gifts of others, please call me at 703-671-8800.) "Our Worst Nightmare" Months ago, Barack Obama relied on NATO to liberate Libya from Col. Qadhafi. It was a confused effort that resulted in various NATO members dropping out of the Libyan campaign. Then Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said, "This command-and-control business is complicated, and we haven't done something like this kind of 'on-the-fly' before." Now we're learning what Obama's "on-the-fly" foreign policy has gotten us. We all knew that Qadhafi's Libya was not an oasis of liberty. But conservatives and others warned that while we had no idea who would replace him, we did know that many of the Libyan rebels were sympathetic to Al Qaeda. Now ABC News reports that as many as 20,000 Stinger anti-aircraft missiles are missing in Libya -- a scenario even left-coast liberal Barbara Boxer (D-CA) described as "Our worst nightmare." Have these missiles fallen into the hands of Al Qaeda terrorists? We don't know. ABC reports that coalition forces are desperately trying to secure Libya's borders as the White House scrambles to get a handle on the situation. The CIA and State Department are blaming each other for failing to secure these weapons. Meanwhile, Sen. Boxer is introducing legislation to equip 500 American passenger jets with anti-missile devices. So how did that Libyan operation turn out? ObamaCare Headed To High Court Sinking in the polls, Obama is desperate to rally his base. He may have found a way. According to Politico, Obama has opted to skip an appeal to the full 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, sending the key anti-ObamaCare case directly to the Supreme Court. That means it is very likely that the high court will take up the case and issue a decision in the weeks before the 2012 election. It may be a win-win for Obama. It is likely to be a 5-to-4 ruling either way. If the court strikes down ObamaCare, it may rally liberals against the five "conservative" justices who denied them the holy grail of Big Government. If the court upholds ObamaCare, then Obama has been vindicated and liberals will be fighting to defend the largest expansion of government since the Great Society. This news underscores why conservatives MUST win this next election. Whatever the Supreme Court decides, this battle won't be over. If the court strikes ObamaCare down, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid won't give up their dream of socialized medicine. If the court upholds ObamaCare, a conservative Congress and a conservative president can repeal it in 2013. EPA Demands More Bureaucrats Here's one more reason why conservatives MUST win in November 2012: Obama's EPA is demanding $21 billion and 230,000 more bureaucrats to enforce its planned regulatory regime. The EPA is currently fighting a legal challenge to its authority to regulate the greenhouse gases of 14,000 businesses. If the EPA wins its case, more than six million businesses could be forced to comply with burdensome new rules and regulations. But in court filings, the EPA makes this astonishing claim:
"Hiring the 230,000 full-time employees necessary to produce the 1.4 billion work hours required to address the actual increase in permitting functions would result in an increase in Title V administration costs of $21 billion per year."
Unemployed Millionaire Begs For Tax Hike It started with Warren Buffett. Now affluent people all over America are begging Obama to raise their taxes. At least that's what the liberal media would have you believe. At a town hall meeting in California yesterday, Doug Edwards, one of Google's many millionaires, told Obama that he was "unemployed by choice" because he was "lucky enough to live in Silicon Valley for a while and work for a small startup down the street here, that did quite well." After that smug self-introduction, Mr. Edwards asked Obama, "Would you please raise my taxes?" The media love it! "Another patriotic millionaire for higher taxes." Don't be fooled, my friends. Edwards is a liberal who has donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democrat politicians. If he wants to pay more, there is nothing stopping him from writing a big check to the IRS. But I suspect Mr. Edwards took full advantage of every deduction and tax credit he was entitled to. That's fine with me, but don't ask that everyone else be forced to pay higher taxes just because you have some misplaced guilt about it. In fact, some Republicans are asking Warren Buffett to release his tax returns so we can see what kind of "tax avoidance" practices he is using to keep his tax rate low. Personally, I would rather wealthy individuals like Edwards and Buffett donate their money to charity than have Big Government take more of their income and redistribute it to bankrupt green energy companies. I'd also prefer to see small business owners be allowed to keep more of their income to invest in growing their businesses. But if these limousine liberals keep complaining, perhaps Republicans should make an exception on their "no tax hike" pledge and raise taxes just on left-wing millionaires!

Obama's "Hate the Rich" Campaign
In his so-called jobs speeches, Obama exploits class envy shrouded in fairness. President Obama continues to escalate his divisive and evil assault on achievers, purposely pitting Americans against each other.
Obama's "Hate the Rich" campaign appeals to our lower nature and encourages the sin of covetousness. If Obama's despicable campaign proves successful, it will be a sad commentary about who we have become as a people and how far we have fallen as Americans.

Obama Healthcare Law Cleared for US Supreme Court
WASHINGTON - The Obama administration Monday cleared the way for the Supreme Court to decide in its 2011-12 term the president's signature healthcare law that requires Americans to buy insurance or face a penalty.
A Justice Department spokeswoman said it decided against asking the full U.S. Appeals Court for the 11th Circuit to review the August ruling by a three-judge panel of the court that found the requirement unconstitutional.
The decision not to seek review by the full appeals court will likely speed up consideration of the matter by the high court in its 2011-12 term that begins next week. A ruling could come by late June, in the middle of the presidential campaign.

Former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey's name is being floated as the Republican nominee to run against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in 2012.
McCaughey, a Newsmax blogger, served as lieutenant governor in the Empire State under Gov. George Pataki from 1995 to 1998. She is a patient advocate and founder of the Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths.
She came to national attention in 1993 for her attack on the Clinton healthcare plan and was considered a major factor in the defeat of the bill. In 2009, her criticism of Obamacare inspired the expression "death panels."
McCaughey is also president of Defend Your Healthcare, a constitutional scholar, and author of two histories of the U.S. Constitution.

Armed citizens descend on gun banning, New Mexico Mayor
Sep 27, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins
By Doug Book, staff writer
When Ruidoso, New Mexico Mayor Ray Alborn issued an order banning the carrying of firearms in city owned buildings last month, he couldn't have imagined he would be faced with nearly 100 armed, irate gun owners at the next meeting of the city council.
But 2nd Amendment supporters from all over the nation came to the little town to express their outrage at Mayor Alborn's ham-handed affront to law abiding American citizens.
And express themselves they did as speakers went one by one to the microphone, "...most of them with their guns holstered by their sides."
"You are just as much a tyrant for requiring someone to surrender their civil rights to carry a firearm in order to participate in their government as you are in asking them to surrender their right to vote or anything else," said one of the meeting attendees.
Executive Director of Gun Owners of America, Larry ... Continue Reading:Armed citizens descend on gun banning, New Mexico Mayor

Compulsory Auto Insurance and its discontents Sep 26, 2011 05:26 pm | Coach Collins By Bruce Karlson, staff writer Youth unemployment is above 20% in most of the country. Our jails and prisons hold too many persons for child support, alimony, or other "failure to pay" problems. Most of them are young or youngish and would work and pay if they could. They simply cannot afford to pay several hundred dollars a month for insurance so they cannot legally drive to a job. Given the statistics that follow, I ask Libertarian and Conservative readers to take a step back. Eschew the knee jerk reaction and acceptance of the status quo regarding the requirement that all vehicles and/or drivers are insured. Suppose it were a mandate to buy health insurance, for instance. Aside from the laws in 49 states, why do we have automobile insurance? Why should it be required? As to the first, we have it to protect assets in the event of a wreck. It must follow then that those ... Grassfire Nation Update
Grassfire Nation has learned that Gibson Guitars, a Nashville, TN based company has been raided twice by federal marshals over the last number of weeks over the type of wood used in their guitars.
Despite the fact that no charges have been filed, the government did confiscate product and shutdown Gibson production, putting hundreds of real jobs in jeopardy!
A review of the law in question also makes illegal the purchase, ownership and resale of Gibson guitars.
This gross abuse of power is already being confronted as a number of Tea Party organizations, are planning a rally for Gibson on October 8, in Nashville, TN. Grassfire Nation officials will be on the ground to hand-deliver at least 25,000 "I Stand with Gibson" petitions during that rally!
Take a moment today to sign this petition giving us permission to represent you at this upcoming rally supporting Gibson guitars.

Obama Waives Congress Away
"Congress hasn't been able to do it, so I will." With this bold statement, President Obama announced last Friday that he would unilaterally replace the provisions of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) with conditions-based waivers. Obama's waiver strategy is an alarming misuse of executive power that undermines the separation of powers. In and of itself, the use of waivers is not unconstitutional. Congress has the authority to create laws with provisions that allow the President to grant exceptions in certain circumstances. NCLB does, for instance, authorize the Secretary of Education to grant waivers to applicants that meet certain criteria. However, waivers are not written as blank checks of authority for the President to bypass Congress and enact new policy. In this case, the President is using waivers to rewrite the law. The Obama waivers go far beyond the measures allowed by NCLB. To receive a waiver, states must agree to implement a new set of goals and programs determined not by Congress, but by the White House. For months, President Obama and Congressional Republicans have disagreed on how to reform NCLB. There are major problems with the law's intrusive regulations. But the Obama administration decided that the "do-nothing Congress" could not be trusted to act and so the President is acting without them. But co-opting the waiver power to craft a new laws designed in and implemented by the White House is a departure from the constitutional separation of powers. Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution grants Congress the power to craft the nation's laws and to reform those laws when they do not work as planned. The executive is authorized to carry out the laws passed by Congress. But this can be quite bothersome for a President if Congress doesn't see things his way. The President does have a proper constitutional role to play in the legislative process. The President has the power to veto or sign a bill. Furthermore, as permitted by the recommendation clause of Article 1, Section 3, the President may recommend legislation to Congress. This is does not mean that the President can unilaterally create law as if by royal edict. To become law, legislation (even when recommended by the President) must first pass both houses of Congress and be signed by the President. This process ensures that any law will be subject to deliberation by both the nationally elected President and the Congressmen who are more attuned to the particular interests and concerns of the local communities they represent. Both congressional Republicans and president Obama acknowledge that NCLB is a flawed law. While it may be tempting to seek a quick fix to this sprawling and unpopular program that avoids a partisan battle, misusing waivers to enact new policy without the consent of the elected representatives in Congress is not the way to address the issue.
Keep Reading about waiving goodbye to No Child Left Behind

NumbersUSA Forces Immigration to Front of the National Political Stage E-Verify Gains Momentum As It Clears the Judiciary Committee; Endorsed During Presidential Debate It feels good investing in a winner, doesn't it? NumbersUSA is winning on E-Verify in Congress! And we're beginning to break through nationally on several parts of the immigration issue. You've heard by now, I'm sure, that the House Judiciary Committee voted to pass H.R. 2885, the 50-state, mandatory E-Verify bill, last Wednesday. Fortunately, they did not add amendments that would have killed the bill before it even reached the House floor. The unique coalition between NumbersUSA, lawmakers, and most business lobbies like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Restaurant Association remains in place. E-Verify laws passed by Arizona, Georgia, and several other pioneering states convinced business lobbies that E-Verify is inevitable and, for most businesses, highly desirable. This rare moment of agreement means E-Verify can become the law of the land this year, but only if we push harder than we've ever pushed before on anything. Then, last Thursday, our agenda moved forward some more when the Republican candidates for president discussed immigration issues at the Florida debate sponsored by Fox New Channel and Google. In a breakthrough, one candidate (Mitt Romney) endorsed the E-Verify program by name. This is a first for a major presidential candidate. Other candidates called more vaguely for worker verification. We are hoping more candidates will soon endorse E-Verify. (More on the candidates' immigration positions below.) Did you see our NumbersUSA TV ad that ran on Fox News Channel during the debate? Here's the ad; It was the second ad run during the debate, which was seen by 6 million viewers. Our ad pointed out that immigration must be reduced during this time of sky-high unemployment. As you can see, suddenly our issue is everywhere, and it's all moving in our direction. Yes, it feels good to back a winner! NumbersUSA is winning. Today we need your financial support more than we ever have in our history. Our opportunities to change national policy have never been greater. Unsurprisingly, our expenses have never been higher. And our opponents enjoy a huge financial advantage over us. Many members make their first contribution to us each month. We rely on these first-time gifts to help us reach our financial goals each month. If you are able to, please make your first contribution to us today. Every amount helps, even $5, $10, or $25. Our most important agenda item this year is to get E-Verify passed by the entire House of Representatives, then inside a larger bill in the U.S. Senate, and then receive Pres. Obama's signature. Sound tough? Sure it is. But we believe we can do it, but we'll need lots of help. Here's what we're doing to push this: - We've already sent half a million faxes to Congress on behalf of our members on E-Verify. We need at least half a million more! (Very expensive--please help!)
- For the first timeever NumbersUSA is providing toll-free numbers so that people are encouraged to make more of the all-important phone calls to Congress. (High priced, but it's worth it!)
- Webcasts that bring our NumbersUSA team right into your home and office as the action happens. Sometime email just doesn't say enough.
- Of course, Rosemary Jenks and her crack team of Capitol Hill strategists work with Members of Congress everyday. They made sure this national, mandatory E-Verify bill is tough and effective. (Please help us pay for this!)
- Our Capitol Hill team has identified Members of Congress who are potential roadblocks to this bill. We are going into their districts to advertise. (SUPER expensive! We need your help to win!)
Did you know that we have prepared a Presidential Candidate Immigration Gradecard? This is a new NumbersUSA tool that everyone interested in immigration and the upcoming election must look at. You may be shocked at what you find! The candidates mostly score very, very low. "Mouse over" the page and we'll show you why. No one else in the country, by the way, does anything like this. The press use this tool constantly. Please help us pay for it! NumbersUSA isn't about helping one candidate or another win. ( As always, NumbersUSA is non-partisan and we do not endorse candidates.)
There are four ways to give:
1) On-line credit card (we take all major cards).
2) Give by PayPal.
3) Check -- see the instructions and a form to print out and send with your check.
4) Call (877) 885-7733 to arrange a wire transfer, stock donation, or to make a credit card donation over the phone. If our office is closed, please leave the time and your phone number and we will call back.
Time to get excited; things are going our way! Jim Robb |

Taxpayer Funding of Chevy Volt to Create Jobs - In China
It seems the promise of job creation for taxpayer funded green initiatives, such as the Chevy Volt development, is partially being kept. The only problem is that many of those jobs are going to China. General Motors confirmed last week that it would develop an electric vehicle platform in China. USA Today reports that GM Vice Chairman, Steve Girsky, stated that GM and Chinese auto company, SAIC, will develop a new electric vehicle that would draw upon the Chevy Volt's technology.
Girsky also hinted that future Chevy Volts will be built in China in order to qualify for Chinese subsidies of about $19,000 per car. Girsky claims that neither China nor SAIC are demanding that GM share Volt technology. Whether they are demanding it or not, it is obvious that they will get it.

Tea Party News Tuesday, September 27th (You can reply to this e-mail)
There Is No Perfect TeaParty Candidate And There Never Will Be. "Agree with me on 9 of 12 issues, vote for me. Agree with me on 12 of 12 issues, see a psychiatrist." Edward I. Koch, former mayor of New York City. "Public Opinion" makes heroes out of new entries to a primary race and then attacks the hero until we find his/her shortcomings and then throw the new found hero aside to start the search again for the 'perfect candidate'. If we write off these past hero castaways we could miss out on some of our best potential candidates. Instead of letting 'Public Opinion' determine who is in and who is out, let's use our own personal elimination process - and and give the rest of the field a chance to win our support. If your priority is immigration, eliminate Rick Perry; if military strength is key to you, drop Ron Paul from our list; if it is 'establishment politics', then Mitt Romney is out . . . etc. But if Michele Bachmann is going to drop to the bottom of the list, let it be because of a 'key issue' - and not just she has been around a long time and Rick Perry, a fresh face, is promoted by the party and the press. Each of the candidates in the race have some great strengths that meet TeaParty standards. Let's look at each candidate in his/her totality and not be swayed by "Public Opinion" created by our press and 'leaders' - or look for perfection on every issue. Send us your comments - when appropriate we will include them in the editorial section. Thanks -John-

Wealthy, Influential, Leaning Republicans Pushing Christie for President A small but influential group of Republican-leaning donors share a desire to see Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey run for president. They include Kenneth G. Langone, billionaire Home Depot founder; Paul E. Singer, hedge fund magnate; David H. Koch, the richest man in New York; Charles R. Schwab, personal investment guru; financier Stanley F. Druckenmiller; hedge fund manager David Tepper; and Daniel S. Loeb, a onetime supporter of President Obama. In recent months, Christie enthusiasts have lighted up the phone lines between Manhattan and Trenton trying to persuade the governor to enter the Republican field amid growing concern about the current contenders. In my opinion, Christie should continue to say "no" and finish the job he started in NJ. He has great potential is he doesn't rush things. |

Rand Paul vs. Fed regulations
A senator who opposes federal regulation on philosophical grounds is single-handedly blocking legislation that would strengthen safety rules for oil and gas pipelines, a bill that even the pipeline industry and companies in his own state support.
Republican Sen. Rand Paul's opposition to the bill hasn't wavered even after a gas pipeline rupture last week shook people awake in three counties in his home state of Kentucky.

Doctors and AMA split over contentious issue of Obamacare
Only 13% if Doctors agree with it
For more than 160 years, the American Medical Association has served as the self-appointed chief lobbying group for doctors. But the AMA's lofty status has been under threat over the last several years - and is under attack today. In fact, the AMA now only counts about 17% of doctors as members.
According to a new survey, the majority of doctors do not believe that the AMA represents their views and interests. Much of that dissatisfaction stems from the organization's support for President Obama's contentious health care reform package.

$200K per job? Timothy Geithner says White House jobs plan is still a bargain
Only $200K per job??
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner didn't dispute a Harvard economist's estimate that each job in the White House's jobs plan would cost $200,000, but said the pricetag is the wrong way to measure the bill's worth.
And he also pointed out, in an interview today with ABC News' David Muir, that there is no other option on the table for getting the economy moving and putting more people back to work.

EPA: Regulations would require 230,000 new employees, $21 Billion
More industry killing desk jockeys
The Environmental Protection Agency has said new greenhouse gas regulations, as proposed, may be "absurd" in application and "impossible to administer" by its self-imposed 2016 deadline. But the agency is still asking for taxpayers to shoulder the burden of up to 230,000 new bureaucrats - at a cost of $21 billion - to attempt to implement the rules.
The EPA aims to regulate greenhouse gas emissions through the Clean Air Act, even though the law doesn't give the EPA explicit power to do so. The agency's authority to move forward is being challenged in court by petitioners who argue that such a decision should be left for Congress to make.

MSNBC is close to falling to third place in cable news ratings
Good luck firing Al Sharpton
How badly has MSNBC been hurt by the loss of Keith Olbermann? Enough, apparently, to be on the verge of falling back into third place among the cable news networks.
The ratings results for the month of September show that CNN, long relegated to third place in the prime-time cable news competition, is edging its way back up, while MSNBC is moving in the other direction.

Obama at the bank
Barack Obama walks into the bank to cash a check. "Good morning, Ma'am," he greets the cashier, "could you please cash this check for me?"
"It would be my pleasure, sir. Could you please show me your ID?"
"Truthfully, I did not bring my ID with me as I didn't think there was any need to. I am President Barack Obama, the president of the United States of America!"
"Yes, sir, I know who you are, but with all the regulations, monitoring of the banks because of impostors and forgers, etc, I must insist on seeing ID."
"Just ask anyone here at the bank who I am and they will tell you. Everybody knows who I am."
"I am sorry Mr. President but these are the bank rules and I must follow them."
"I am urging you please to cash this check."
"Ok, this is what we can do Mr. President: One day Tiger Woods came into the bank without ID. To prove he was Tiger Woods he pulled out his putting iron and made a beautiful shot across the bank into a cup. With that shot we knew him to be Tiger Woods and cashed his check. Another time, Andre Agassi came in without ID. He pulled out his tennis racquet and made a fabulous shot, making the tennis ball land in my cup. With that spectacular shot we cashed his check. So, Mr. President, what can you do to prove that it is you, and only you, as the president of the United States?"
Obama stands there thinking and finally says, "Honestly, there is nothing that comes to my mind. I can't think of a single thing I'm good at."
"Will that be large or small bills, Mr. President?"

Hitler discovers ATTACKWATCH is a jokeAfter receiving several complaints from readers about the Hitler video we ran last week (which we did not create), we thought it only fitting that those complaints be forwarded to AttackWatch. In case you missed the offending video, here it is again with a suitably revised caption:
This hilarious video unnecessary mockery capitalizes on a popular meme Godwin's law to great effect a sickening degree, mercilessly deriding Obama's new AttackWatch website comparing Hitler to Obama: Watch Video » Editor's Note: Occasionally, an Obama ad plays before the video, which only takes money away from his campaign. Personally, we mute these and create our own humorous voice-overs weep silently. Oh my, that is bad. What were we thinking?

Susan's Paul Ryan Medicare Pamphlet - please print this and give it to your contacts
SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
- maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
- provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
- Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
- If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
- And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

The best progressive fail you've ever seen (video)
The iconic protester of the Days of Rage protests so far has clearly been the dopey kid who got on his knees in the middle of the street and screamed at the bank for 'taking' his parents' home. Only one problem - they aren't taking his home. And his parents both hold Master's degrees. And the $500,000 home has only $60,000 left on it. And the kid is in an exclusive law school. Where is the oppression exactly? Watch the performance - the LIE that this idiot puts out there. A lie his own mom refuted. WATCH.

Here come the plants!
Since Obama can't actually find a real person who likes any of the ideas and policies he promotes, he has to create them. The latest example of this is from a town hall style meeting this week when Obama, completely at random, just happened to call on a retired Google exec who would beg the President to raise his taxes. That happens all the time, right? Get all the details HERE.
Michael Moore visits Occupy Wall Street; luckily no earthquakes
Michael Moore stomped his way into New York City today and visited the Marxist dopes camping out protesting Wall Street. They didn't seem to care that Moore was only using them to keep his fat face in the news so he could sell copies of his latest memoir, make even more money off the system he says he hates, and go back to one of his mansions. Check out the story HERE.
