"Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual -- or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country."
~ Samuel Adams, in the Boston Gazette, 1781
David HorowitzLuncheon & Book Signing
The Philadelphia Freedom Center is pleased to welcome our mentor and leader, David Horowitz to Philadelphia to speak about his new book, A Point in Time:The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next.
David shocked the political left when he abandoned 1960s radicalism to become a conservative. Founder and current president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, David is also founder and editor of FrontPage Magazine. He also founded Students for Academic Freedom, Newsrealblog.com, Discoverthenetworks.com, and is the author of over 20 books.
A Point in Time:
The Search for Redemption in this Life & the Next
Part memoir and part philosophical reflection, A Point in Time focuses on man's inevitable search for meaning - and how for those without religious belief, that search often leads to a faith in historical progress, one that is bound to disappoint. Horowitz agrees with Arcus Aurelius, whose stoic philosophy provides a focal point for the book, "He who has seen present things has seen all, both everything that has taken place from all eternity and everything that will be for time without end..."
Horowitz remembers his father; a political radical who put his faith in just such a redemptive future. He examines this hope through the other great figure who organizes these reflections, the Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky, whose writings foreshadowed the great tragedies of the social revolutions to come. Horowitz draws on eternal themes: the need we have to make sense out of the lives we have been given, our desire to repair the injustices we encounter, and the consequences of our mortality.
Interweaving episodes of his own life with the writings of the philosopher and the novelist, Horowitz explores how we provide meaning to an apparently senseless existence and the dire consequences that follow from seeking to redeem it by attempting to make a perfect world out of the imperfect one in which we find ourselves.

As part of our ongoing project of making candidates for various offices available for direct encounters, The Kitchen Table Patriots is proud to host a meet-and-greet with Speaker Newt Gingrich on Tuesday afternoon. Speaker Gingrich will be giving some prepared remarks and this will be followed by a question and answer period and an opportunity to interact with him directly in the intimate setting of The Moose Lodge.
September 27th is the 17th anniversary of the "Contract with America" that transformed American politics during the Clinton administration. On Thursday the 29th, Newt will be unveiling an outline of a new "Contract" in Iowa. We're sure he will be dropping some hints as to what will be in the new Contract.
This event is free, but naturally, if there are supporters of Newt, he will welcome donations to help him with his campaign.
The Kitchen Table Patriots, like most conservative Republican voters, has not endorsed Speaker Gingrich or any of the current candidates, but we are enthusiastic about having an opportunity to have him meet supporters and patriots from Bucks County and beyond.
For those who cannot make it, we will be streaming and recording the event on ourWKTP.TVUStream.TV channel.

Thursday, October 20th at 7:30PM: Kenneth C. Davis, "Why A President?" At the Philadelphia Convention, the nature of the Presidency was a subject of hot debate. What did the framers of the Constitution want the "chief magistrate" to be? What changes have been made to the Constitution that directly relate to Presidential powers and elections? What would the Framers think of the modern American Presidency? These are some of the questions that author Kenneth C. Davis will address. He is the author of the popular Don't Know Much About... book series as well as America's Hidden History: Untold Tales of the First Pilgrims, Fighting Women, and Forgotten Founders Who Shaped a Nation and A Nation Rising: Untold Tales of Flawed Founders, Fallen Heroes, and Forgotten Fighters from America's Hidden History.

Thursday, December 1st at 7:30PM: Paul Finkelman, "America's Covenant With Death: Slavery and the Founding." Paul Finkelman is the President William McKinley Distinguished Professor of Law and Public Policy, and Senior Fellow in the Government Law Center at Albany Law School. His lecture will explore the relationship of slavery to the American founding, and will examine how slavery was written into the original Constitution, and protected by it.
Thursday, December 8th at 7:30PM: George W. Boudreau, "'A Republic, If You Can Keep It': Benjamin Franklin and the Crafting of the Constitution." The series closes with a talk by an audience favorite, George W. Boudreau, Associate Professor of Humanities and History at the University of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg. Professor Boudreau is Project Director of the "Teaching Franklin" website (http://harrisburg.psu.edu/teachingfranklin/). His lecture will explore Franklin's role in the creation of the Constitution.

Property Tax Reform and the Cost of Education - An Outstanding Round Table Discussion
When: Friday, October 14, 2011 at 6:00 PM
Where: Phoenixville Country Club, Phoenixville, PA 19460 (610) 933-3727
Food and beverage service is available. New menu!
THE BIG PICTURE ON PROPERTY TAX REFORM AND THE COST OF EDUCATING OUR CHILDREN!!
Our round table of three outstanding speakers: Nathan Benfield, David Baldinger and Dr. Richard Brake
THE COST OF EDUCATION GOES UP, UP, UP AND OUR PROPERTY TAXES KEEP GOING UP, UP, UP! WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CHANGE THIS?
No discussion on property tax reform is complete without talking about what it is costing to educate our children and whether or not they are getting the education they deserve, according to Nathan Benfield, Director of Policy Analysis for the Commonwealth Foundation. Nate has researched and written on public policy issues including taxation, government spending, education reform and transportation funding. He has frequently provided testimony to Pennsylvania House and Senate committees on various issues including education.
David Baldinger a full-time volunteer for the Pennsylvania Coalition of Taxpayer Associations (PCTA) will be with us to explain the School Property Tax Elimination Plan that permanently eliminates all school district property taxes as well as eliminating local school district earned income taxes (EIT). PCTA says Statewide, current school district budgets increase, on average, at twice the rate of inflation! And, "no tax should have the power to leave you homeless". David started this work in 2004 and since has become one of PA's leading experts on the subject.
Dr. Richard Brake is the Director of Educational Programs at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI), a non-profit educational foundation with a mission to "Educate for Liberty"- by inspiring college students to discover and embrace principles that make America prosperous, moral, and free. Dr. Brake lives in Berwyn with his family and is currently an elective member of the TE school board. Dr. Brake has documented the failure of America's top universities to teach students the founding history, texts, and institutions of our constitutional republic. His commentary on this disturbing trend has appeared in media outlets nationwide.
Judical Watch is Demanding Answers Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:
"The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2
But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.
We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action? True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step. For more information email info@truethevote.org or go HERE to sign up now!

Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked.
So here it is. A one page, quick description of Agenda 21 that fits on one page. I've also included for the back side of your hand out a list of quotes for the perpetrators of Agenda 21 that should back up my brief descriptions.
A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. Research, know your details; discover the NGO players in your community; identify who is victimized by the policies and recruit them to your fight; and then kill Agenda 21. That's how it must be done. The information below is only your first step. Happy hunting.
New Meeting Schedule for the Concerned Citizen's Group. The Concerned Citizen's Group will no longer meet weekly on Wednesdays and instead we will be having our "weekly" meeting at various government meetings around the Delaware Valley area: town councils, school boards, county commissioners, zoning boards, water boards, etc.
We will still have monthly meetings on Saturday's. The next monthly meeting will be on Saturday, October 8th at P J Ryan's, 231 Bridge Street, Phoenixville - 6pm. Radio Talk Show Host Maggie Roddin will do a presentation on U.N. Agenda 21 and have any updates that may have come from the U.N. or local sustainable development . . . don't forget hay is now deemed a pollutant by the EPA . . . no hay, no crops, no animals, no food. We will also be showing a movie on U.N. Agenda 21 at the October 8th meeting.
Please join Americans for Prosperity Foundation and thousands of grassroots activists for the 5th annual Defending the American Dream Summiton Friday and Saturday, November 4-5 at the Washington Convention Center in downtown Washington, DC.
Last year, more than 2,600 of our best activists descended on Washington for the Summit to demonstrate to elected officials, government bureaucrats, and the national media that the grassroots movement is alive and well. We focused on reining in out-of-control spending and taxation, advancing sound free market public policy, and in a very real way, defending the American Dream.
Special bus packages are running from PA and for only this week you can register for an additional $70 off those all-inclusive bus packages. Sign up now to take advantage of this great opportunity! Use the code "Bus70" when registering.

Earlier this year we announced a major event for this fall, "The Doctrine of Abrogation: Open the Koran Day."
We have scheduled this event for the weekend of October 28 - 30, 2011, which is close to the two year anniversary of the Ft. Hood jihadist massacre perpetrated by Major Nidal Hasan (pictured at right).
If you would like to learn more about this national event, or would like to host a local venue, please click here.
Please read the description of the event and the sign-up instructions carefully, and then access the sign-up form at the bottom of the page.
Also, if you would like to study the Koran, we have a resource to recommend. The Qur'an Dilemma is an accurate, readable English translation that contains commentaries and analysis, including commentaries on the doctrine of abrogation, the history of the codification of the Koran, chronological sequence of the Koran, and the status of women in the Koran. 2012 Presidential Candidate Selector or Obama, His Allies & Critics Matching Quiz
Politicians have already indicated their 2012 presidential aspirations. This matching quiz includes President Obama, top members of his administration, Obama's most vocal critics (Boehner, Cantor, etc.) and likely White House prospects (Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal, etc.). You may select a position for every issue, or just select issues important to you. The political figures' positions are based upon their voting records, special interest group ratings and their statements in the public record. In cases where there is no known public record or statement, these politicos are not given a score on that issue. We add candidates, revise their views and include new issues as they become known or change. Check back often for updates.
Earlier this year, I urged you to go to theaters to see Atlas Shrugged: Part One and share its message of limited government, free markets and individual liberty with family, friends and neighbors. Based on Ayn Rand's classic novel written in 1957, Atlas Shrugged: Part One was immediately celebrated as a "made for Tea Party film."
The film is now finally set for its much-anticipated release on DVD. As a FreedomWorks member, you can pre-order a limited edition version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One featuring special bonus features from FreedomWorks. Pre-order It Now!
Atlas Shrugged: Part One is set in a not-so-distant future in which government has taken control of businesses, bureaucrats have impose burdensome regulations on the economy and entrepreneurs are rapidly disappearing from society. Their disappearances are all linked to a man named John Galt, a mysterious figure who leaves this desperate world wondering: "Who is John Galt?"
I know many of our members were disappointed that Atlas Shrugged: Part One, a film that had been attempted and scrapped numerous times since the novel debuted over 50 years ago, didn't play in a theater in their area. The release of this limited edition FreedomWorks version of Atlas Shrugged: Part One DVD is a great opportunity to own a part of film history. Get It Now.
As I've said before, Atlas Shrugged: Part One has the opportunity to introduce millions more around the world to the philosophy of freedom. This DVD is a great gift for family and friends who care about the principles of limited government, free markets and individual liberty. Give A Gift.
While activists have many reasons for getting involved in this grassroots movement-TARP, the stimulus, ObamaCare-I know that for me I wasn't initially motivated by a piece of legislation or a midterm election. My conversion happened many years ago when I picked up a dog-eared copy of the 1,000 page tome we know as Ayn Rand's masterpiece, Atlas Shrugged.
It was partpolitical spectacle, part American Idol, part YouTube extravaganza, a pure Roger Ailes production-and the latest sign that the Fox News chairman is quietly repositioning America's dominant cable-news channel.
Hours before last week's presidential debate in Orlando, Ailes's anchors sat in a cavernous back room, hunched over laptops, and plotted how to trap the candidates. Chris Wallace said he would aim squarely at Rick Perry's weakness: "How do you feel about being criticized by some of your rivals as being too soft on illegal immigration? Then I go to Rick Santorum: is Perry too soft?"
"That's going to get some fireworks going," said managing editor Bill Sammon, grinning.
Spending two days drilling our potential presidential candidates with national security questions and living amongst the media elite inside their posh exclusive Google/Fox "spin room" (the irony was not lost by any), I lost something. I had succumbed to the hype and was choosing between one of two candidates, two candidates of which I had little commonality. GoogleFox had successfully taken my personal individualistic choice of candidate away from me. I, the great Indy reporter, had become a lemming.
Herman Cain at Republican debate pledges to aggressively prosecute CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), ISNA (Islamic Society of North America), and NAIT (North American Islamic Trust) along with pledging to list the Muslim Brotherhood as a Designated Terrorist Organization.
I realize I'm biased, but with the exception of the Tampa, FL CNN-Tea Party debate, I've been rather unimpressed with the debates. There are too many of you on the stage. There is not enough time to get into the substance of your answers. And you are all making it about each other instead of about Barack Obama.
I happen to have a radio show on the largest talk radio station in the country, which is also connected to a large media group with television and radio outlets in lots of swing states - not to mention running this site, etc.
So if any of you want to come down to Atlanta, I'm sure I can find us a stage, some TV cameras, get a web stream going, invite C-SPAN, and have an actual conversation. Let's plan on an hour chat. We'll not debate, but have a conversation. We'll talk not just about your future plans and past record, but also your background.
If you're interested, let me know. We can get it done and provide Republican voters something more than "tell us specifically what your economic plan will be in one minute or less or you get the damn Google Chat beep."
A couple of debates ago we looked at where the Republican Presidential primary stood nationally. Since then we've seen Mitt Romney surge, presumably as the anti-Rick Perry candidate.
But will Perry himself tumble after widely criticized debate efforts? Let's check the new CNN poll.
The facts: 447 Republican registered voters, MoE 4.5. Mobile and landline telephone polling.
Fox News has the basic story, which goes as follows: an agent of the BATFE was ordered to go and buy six Draco semi-automatic pistols from gun shops. Those guns were then resold to "known illegal buyers:" i.e., people known to resell guns illegally. So far, this is not actually bad, because this would be how standard sting operations go... except that they didn't arrest the buyers immediately. Which makes... sense, right, because Dracos are legal-to-own guns in the USA; so the BATFE would just have to keep a constant watch on the guns to make sure that they didn't miss it when the bad guys tried to smuggle the guns out of the country - no, wait, it's reported that ATF group supervisor David Voth ordered that there be no 24 hour surveillance. Well. Good thing that Agent John Dodson ignored that order and did a personal stakeout of the bad guys for six days, huh? Because he was there when they moved out with the guns! He was able to call in a request for an interdiction team!
You may have read my recent post reporting that the EPA will be responsible for over 1.4 million job losses over the next 7 years. In that environment, I suppose bureaucratic hires is the closest one can get to good jobs news when it comes to that big government dream agency known as the Environmental Protection Agency.
"DailyCaller: The EPA is asking taxpayers to fund up to 230,000 new government workers to process all the extra paperwork, at an estimated cost of $21 billion. That cost does not include the economic impact of the regulations themselves.
"'Hiring the 230,000 full-time employees necessary to produce the 1.4 billion work hours required to address the actual increase in permitting functions would result in an increase in Title V administration costs of $21 billion per year,' the EPA wrote in the court brief."
So while the Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) as well as Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR) rules are going to wreak havoc on places like Texas, destroy the coal industry, and ultimately force power bills to increase almost as quickly as energy sector jobs are shed, the United States government will be embarking on its own jobs initiative: 230,000 freshly minted pencil-pushing bureaucrats!
As stated above, these new jobs would serve the purpose of enforcing all of the new regulations under the Clean Air Act which was created by the EPA in 2009. So why are courts involved? Because the EPA is deliberately violating the very Clean Air Act they are intending to enforce.
The great green culprit is back, and this time it's setting Texas on fire! At least that's what President Obama wants you to believe.
At a fundraiser in California Sunday (from which he apparently excluded the press), he seized the opportunity of one of the worst catastrophes in Texas history to score some political points. If George Bush didn't care about black people, Barack Obama certainly seems to have his issues with Texans.
TV Star Chuck Woolery Returns With Another Tax Spoof Video on...the Amish
The Blaze | by Jonathon M. Seidl | Posted on September 26, 2011 at 3:38pm
A couple weeks ago, we re-introduced you to Chuck Woolery, the legendary TV host who has now taken to comical PSA-style videos mocking liberal tax ideas. Back then, he hilariously palled the rich who want to pay more taxes. Today, he's calling for more taxes on...the Amish.
Yes, that's right, the Amish. See, the Amish are able to get out of paying some taxes by citing their religious beliefs. That just won't do for Woolery, who calls for a 153% increase in taxes on the Amish with proposals such as the "My name is Jebediah tax" and the "Moustacheless beard tax." He even lets us all know how he feels about the "stealthy little bearded bast***s."
You can watch his new proposals - delivered in classic Woolery style - below:
Chuck Woolery - Let's Tax The Amish
Of course, it's all done in jest in order to point out liberal tax philosophy. But the Amish subject matter probably has something to do with the sect being targeted by the law lately. You may remember that eight Amish men were recently jailed for refusing to post safety signs on their buggies.
Jane Fonda visited Hanoi in 1972 at the instigation of her secret lover Richard Nixon. (Roger Vadim had given her a taste for tall, dark, strange men.) Her mission was to pose as a dumb, treacherous, liberal, anti-Vietnam protestor, lull the Commies into a false sense of security with her breasts and coquettish manner, and sneak homing beacons onto NVA anti-aircraft gun emplacements-all of which were subsequently destroyed on B-52 bombing raids ordered by her secret lover. She also smuggled back messages from downed U.S. pilots, concealing them in a body cavity not likely to be searched by the North Vietnamese. Unfortunately, the letters gave her a painful infection, as did her affair with Nixon, which is the source of Hanoi Jane's lifelong resentment of American prisoners of war. This explains her infamous statement that returning POWs who claimed to have been tortured and brain washed were "hypocrites and liars." That wasn't the real, kind, generous Jane talking; it was the poxy jilted lover.
Introduction to the Constitution
Lecture Series featuring Dr. Larry Arnn, Hillsdale College President
Week One: The Declaration and the Constitution
In this first lecture of the "Introduction to the Constitution" series, Dr. Larry Arnn, Hillsdale College President, argues that the American republic's meaning and proper method of operation is found in two documents, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. He introduces the two main principles of the Declaration-Nature and Equality-and explains how they are key to understanding the arrangements of government found in the Constitution.
Introduction to the Constitution - Part 1
Week Two: The Constitution:Representative Government
In this second lecture of the "Introduction to the Constitution" series, Dr. Larry Arnn, Hillsdale College President, begins to outline the key arrangements of the Constitution. The topic of this lecture is the principle of Representative Government, which he argues is the most fundamental principle of the Constitution.

Rep. Todd Platts denies trying to bully tea party, says group called him 'a useful idiot'
The Patriot-News | By ROBERT J. VICKERS | Published: Sunday, September 25, 2011, 7:36 AM
U.S. Rep. Todd Platts, R-York, expected a typical constituent meeting when he dropped in on this month's York 912 Patriots gathering.
But by the end of the meeting, Platts says he was branded a communist, a "useful idiot," and saw "Replace Platts 2012" bumper stickers being distributed.
And when he tried to warn group leaders that they might not be adhering to federal election laws, Platts said he was accused of trying to intimidate the tea party-affiliated group with sanctions from the Federal Elections Commission.
The public dig at Platts by some of York's most conservative voters is further evidence of a small but vocal element that are deeply dissatisfied with him.
The conflict started tamely enough.
On his way back from Washington, a trip he makes nightly, Platts stopped by the Sept. 15 meeting of the York 912 Patriots at the Holiday Inn Holidome in West Manchester Twp.
About 100 people watched the film, "Agenda: Grinding America Down," which asserts that a communist and socialist agenda is eroding American cultural values. Afterward, attendees watched a presentation critical of Platts' voting record.
If you doubt that a Palestinian state would be a major step toward the Islamist dream of wiping Israel off the face of the earth please read no further as you are hopelessly lost in a liberal Fantasy World.
The facts say otherwise. The facts say a sizable number of the world's 1.2 billion Muslims harbor deeply held intentions to give their lives if necessary to kill Jews Christians and anyone else who refuses to convert to Islam or live as a pious Muslim if born into Islam.
In a sane and honest United Nations the question of recognizing Palestine as a member state would be rejected without further consideration. But such is not the case. The UN is a circus of lowlifes who couldn't get a real job without the political connections that bring them to the brothel on 1st Avenue.

Bill Federer is a tireless and meticulous researcher whose daily history lessons reflect the relationship between God and our nation. The body of his work demolishes the notion that our founders were colorless and soulless men who were proponents of a slavish separation of church and state.

I grew up in a Jewish anti-Jewish household dominated by my father who never once attended synagogue and refused to associate with any of the Jewish inhabitants of the town we lived in. My father hated Jews with a passion - although I should mention that he hated just about everybody with a passion. Jews, however, for reasons I could never fathom, received an extra share of his animadversion. Perhaps this was because, despite his overweening selfishness and high self-esteem, he also detested himself and simply acted out the venerable cliché, going through the motions of classic psychological projection. He was not a lovable man. But whatever the deep interior motive at work in his lava-spewing psyche, I was taught to regard my fellow Jews with unwavering suspicion. My father was not a leftist, so there was nothing "red diaperish" about my early education. I learned only that Jews of any stripe - left or...
There are those who embrace conspiracy theories of a government plan behind major attacks like 9-11 and Pearl Harbor, to lead us into war. As outlandish such theories appear to some, many embrace them because they believe that the government always manipulates public opinion to accept intended actions which the people would otherwise reject.
When a government intends a war of aggression, it must first inculcate hatred of the indented victim. This is done through propaganda which follows the following principles;
1) Select a target to be hated. Personalize it. Focus attention on it.
2) Keep messages on target. Avoid conflicting messages.
3) Attach labels and employ narratives causing the object of the hatred to be ridiculed, scorned and feared.

Israel has nothing to lose, everything to gain from going on the offensive. Our friends in US Congress have shown us a path that lays open to us to follow.
Rather than wash its hands of this loser's game and move its policies to a diplomatic battlefield where it has a chance of actually winning, the Netanyahu government is playing out its losing hand as if what Israel does makes a difference. Even worse, the government is refusing to consider crafting a strategy for victory that it can advance outside the hostile confines of the UN.
This is not simply a failure of imagination. It is a failure of cognition. It is a failure to notice the significance of what is already happening.
Israel's friends in the US Congress have put forward two measures that pave the way for just such a strategy for victory. By failing to recognize the opportunity...
If this is what they do to Jesus' followers, what would they do to JESUS? by Bill Levinson
We have seen at least two Arab cartoons that depict Jews as "Christ killers." The phrase "Christ killing Islamic fundamentalists" is merely payback: truth for falsehood and with compound interest. We are at WAR with the militant Islamic world (as declared by the latter with the phrase "Dar el Harb") and war not only entitles but requires us to foment informed and rational contempt and loathing of the enemy during wartime. This video speaks for itself.
Language like "Christ killer" and "Christ killing" is inflammatory, and it is intended to be inflammatory. Our side's problem is that we are too polite or, as Ann Barnhardt puts it, too nice. War is not a nice business and it is not a time to be polite. As stated by General Patton,
Men cannot be excited to kill by soft words spoken in an uncertain voice. When General...
On Monday, Jeff Daube, Director of Israel Affairs for ZOA, approached me and told me about an LA Jewish Journal article about the gun Obama reputedly put to Netanyahu's head. Knesset visitor blasts Obama and Netanyahu advises that MK Eldad accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of buckling under intense pressure from President Barack Obama, who wants to prevent any Israeli retaliation against the Palestinian Authority in its bid to win recognition as a state from the United Nations.
He (Eldad) charged that Obama was holding Netanyahu "at gunpoint" - the gun being the U.S. threat to go back on its promise to veto the Palestinian statehood bid in the UN Security Council. Specifically, Obama has demanded that Netanyahu and Israel's supporters in the United States pressure Congress to abort two pending resolutions to penalize the Palestinian Authority (PA) if it pursues its bid, Eldad claimed. One would shut off U.S. aid funds to the Palestinians and a second would support Israel's right to annex the West Bank. The legal justification for such actions, cited by many Israeli officials, would be that the unilateral statehood request would be a direct violation of the 1993 Oslo Accords.Eldad said he was certain of the accuracy of his information, but declined to name his sources.
Obviously, Obama wanted to avoid the annexation bid at all costs as he wanted to keep alive his plan for negotiations. In his speech which has been liberally praised as pro-Israel he said,
I put forward a new basis for negotiations in May of this year. That basis is clear. It's well known to all of us here. Israelis must know that any agreement provides assurances for their security. Palestinians deserve to know the territorial basis of their state.
In effect Obama prevented the PA from being penalized for breaching Oslo yet again. He wants to keep Israel shacked by Oslo so it is not free to act.No doubt part of this deal is Netanyahu's agreement to maintain a defacto freeze throughout J&S and Jerusalem.
After Abbas' UN theatrics, Israeli premier Netanyahu said, "The truth is that Israel wants peace with a Palestinian state, but the Palestinians want a state without peace." So what is the truth?

Raising Cain
Two developments this weekend have Washington insiders buzzing today. First is the poor showing of the GOP front-runners in Florida's big straw poll. They are also buzzing about Herman Cain's convincing first place showing in the straw poll. (Cain won 37% to Perry's 15% and Romney's 14%.)
The reason Cain's win isn't bigger news is because many analysts believe his victory was mostly a "protest vote." But the fact remains that there is considerable dissatisfaction among conservative grassroots activists with the current field of candidates.
Just a few weeks ago that dissatisfaction manifested itself in Michele Bachmann's victory in the Ames, Iowa, straw poll. Then Rick Perry jumped into the race and Bachmann lost her momentum, seemingly in a matter of hours. But after Perry stumbled over Social Security and immigration, conservative activists signaled their dissatisfaction (so the argument goes) by raising Cain's profile.
I think both Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain would make great presidents. But it is difficult to imagine a scenario in which either of them could put together the organizational machinery and the finances necessary to run a national campaign to win the Republican nomination. Bachmann recently lost her campaign manager, and Cain almost dropped out of the race -- twice.
Now let's go back to the presumed front-runners. Mitt Romney did not seriously compete for votes in the Florida straw poll, so his team is dismissing the results. Nevertheless, his 3rd place finish is a real warning sign for a candidate who has been running since 2007!
Perry did compete in the straw poll, however, and the collapse of his support was extraordinary -- and was no doubt due to his debate performance, which got horrible reviews. Fox News commentator Brit Hume, no Washington liberal, said: "Perry really did throw up all over himself in the debate at a time when he needed to raise his game. ...Perry is about one-half a step away from almost total collapse as a candidate." Bill Kristol said Perry's performance was "close to disqualifying."
Here's the bottom line: Perry needs to improve quickly. If he doesn't, then Romney will regain his former status as the GOP front-runner, and it is an open question as to who would emerge to challenge him.
CNN released a poll this morning that was conducted after the Orlando debate. In it, Perry still leads Romney by seven points, but there was a 5-point swing in Romney's favor since the last debate. Interestingly, the candidate who gained the most was Newt Gingrich, whose support doubled from 5% to 10%, while Herman Cain went from 5% to 7%.
For what it's worth, this time four years ago, Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson were leading the GOP field, and Hillary Clinton was leading Barack Obama by 16 points. In short, all the polls need to be kept in perspective as mere "snap shots" of the situation today -- not as predictors.
Is Christie The Answer?
My good friend and astute political analyst Bill Kristol thinks New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is the answer to the GOP's dilemma. Again, there is a lot to like about Christie. I particularly appreciate his direct style. He is quick on his feet and unapologetic about his positions. Having said that, he too would start out with significant problems.
Let's take two issues as examples. From what I know, there is no evidence that Christie is any more conservative on immigration than Perry. Perhaps he would avoid calling conservatives heartless; but, substantively, I believe his views are similar. Christie also went out of his way last year to support the construction of a mosque near Ground Zero. That will go over like a lead balloon in Republican primaries.
I'm not suggesting Christie should not run; only that we need to temper our expectations. There is no perfect conservative candidate, and America cannot afford four more years of Obama -- the damage would be irreversible. But someone has to convince us that he or she can rally the base and attract enough independent voters to beat Obama.
Obama's Stimulus Plan -- An Economic Drag
The Associated Press reported this weekend that Obama's latest $500 billion stimulus plan -- even if enacted immediately -- would do little to lower the unemployment rate. Under the most optimistic scenarios, the plan creates fewer than 160,000 jobs a month. To significantly lower the unemployment rate, the economy needs to create at least twice that many jobs each month for at least three to five years.
But Mark Zandi, the Moody's economist who modeled the economic forecasts of the plan, says his prediction was good only for one year -- 2012. And after that? According to Zandi, "Beginning in 2013, and certainly into 2014, the plan is a drag on the economy because the stimulus starts fading away," while Obama's tax increases remain in place.
Let me repeat: Obama's stimulus plan isn't a real jobs plan -- it is a reelection strategy built on class warfare. In three years, Barack Obama has morphed from the Herald of Hope to the Envoy of Envy. You can read more about that in my weekly column at humanevents.com.
Student Suspended For Faith
Last week I commented on Archbishop Timothy Dolan's letter to President Obama warning of the immediate threat to religious liberty stemming from the militant homosexual rights movement's radical demand to redefine marriage. This is not hyperbole.
Individuals have lost their jobs. Conservative organizations are facing "economic terrorism" from left-wing activists. Now students are facing suspension in the public schools if they speak up for their faith.
According to Fox News, a 14 year-old Christian honors student in Ft. Worth, Texas, was suspended for expressing his belief to a fellow student that homosexuality is wrong.
The teacher, who sent the boy to the principal's office, reportedly has a history of pushing the homosexual agenda in his class. An attorney involved in the case told Fox that the teacher had posted a picture of men kissing and told the students that "homosexuality is just part of our culture now."
Last time I checked, men and women of faith were still part of this culture too. While our friends at Liberty Counsel were able to get the school to back down this time, many on the left want to force faith into the closet while pushing homosexual indoctrination into the classroom.
Conservatives have warned for years that the left has no interest in tolerance, and that acceptance of same-sex "marriage" would lead to homosexuality being taught in the schools and the legalization of polygamy. We were dismissed as cranks. Now it's happening.
Only one side can prevail in the culture war over the values we will teach to our children and grandchildren. I strongly believe the next election may well be the decisive battle in America's culture war.
President Obama is becoming a regular gaffe machine. Speaking to the Congressional Black Caucus over the weekend, he defended his proposal to raise taxes on the already over-taxed. For a moment, however, he became horribly confused:
If asking a billionaire to pay the same tax rate as a Jew, uh, as a janitor makes me a warrior for the working class, I wear that with a badge of honor. I have no problem with that.
Here is the clip:
Did he really mean to say "Jew?" I've tried to think what appropriate word might have begun with that syllable, but I can't come up with one. It's just a slip of the tongue, of course, but-even though the observation couldn't be more commonplace-one wonders what would happen if a Republican presidential contender used the words "billionaire" and "Jew" in the same sentence, even through a verbal flub. The world might come to an end.
This video has been around for a while, but I just ran across it this morning. It is part of the very funny Hitler series of which we have posted one or two in the past. In this one, Hitler gets the bad news that that the administration's AttackWatch.com site has become a standing joke on the internet:
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas turned up last week at the United Nations. He was there to petition for statehood on behalf of the PA or the PLO. There's something almost funny about Abbas's gambit. Fred Siegel reminds us that Abbas is currently in the 81st month of his 48-month term and that he is the leader of the West Bank component of the Palestinian Authority, supposedly including the Gaza Strip. Over on the Gaza Strip, however, the powers-that-be operate under the auspices of Hamas, an organization frankly devoted to the elimination of Israel, and are led by Ismail Haniya. Hamas opposes Abbas's bid for statehood. In the UN, it all makes perfect sense.
Abbas makes an avuncular appearance, but the appearance is deceiving. Some people learn everything they need to know in kindergarten. Not Abbas. Abbas probably learned everything he needed to know pursuing his graduate studies at Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow. Abbas devoted his doctoral dissertation to writing The Other Side: The Secret Relationship Between Nazism and Zionism in which he attempted to prove that the Holocaust never happened.
A long-time reader writes about Rick Perry's position on college tuition for illegal immigrants and his claim that those who disagree with him are heartless:
Rick Perry took some serious hits in Thursday's presidential debate for his defense of the view that children brought to Texas illegally by their parents should receive the same discount on their college tuition at Texas' public universities as children who reside in Texas legally. On Friday, however, several conservatives at NRO's Corner defended Perry's position to one degree or another.
By the time an undocumented child makes it from first grade to graduating high school, taxpayers have already sunk over $100,000 into that child's education. To pull the plug on those children because of the actions of their parents would be unfair, and would nullify the investment taxpayers have already made in the kid.
But I see nothing unfair about refusing to sink a second $100,000 or so into the education of people who have no right to be in the United States. And the $100,000 already invested will not be "nullified" unless one assumes these students will forget how to read, write, and cipher. A K-12 education is a huge asset in itself; it is not valuable only as a prelude to higher education.
[Damn. John beat me to this story. As soon as I banged out a draft and went to post I saw that John had already worked it over. Another failure of editorial coordination here at Power Line. Should I pile on? Yeah, why not. There's one little item in this story I can add to.]
Are New York Times editorial writers complete innumerate nincompoops? Okay, silly question. The answer is a self-evident truth. This sentence finally made me spit my coffee: "Recent studies suggest that, globally, renewable energy will grow faster than any other energy source in the coming decades."
This is simple-minded drivel that wouldn't make a sub-moron's mouth twitch if he'd sat through the first day of a statistics class. All of these studies are based on pure percentage growth rates-not absolute amounts of energy produced by source. It is the same kind of logic as someone who wonders how a swimmer can drown in a Minnesota lake that averages only two feet deep. Example: if you go from one unit of something to two, look! Wow! A 100 percent growth rate! While if you go from 100 to 105 units of something, we'll that's only a five percent growth rate, even though it five times the amount of end product as the source with the 100 percent growth rate.
All of the renewable energy studies and forecasts play that game because the renewable output is starting from such a low base, and never compare the actual amount of energy growth with other sources. So, for example, Germany since 1990 has increased it solar power by 22,689 percent (according to data from BP's latest Statistical Review of World Energy), but after all that growth only accounts for 1.1 percent of Germany's electricity supply. According to the BP data, guess which energy source over the last 10 years produced the largest total amount of new energy in the world? Coal. A somewhat inconvenient truth. A student who tried to pass off the Times claim in Statistics 101 would get an F on the exam. (And this leaves aside the point John makes, namely, that nearly all "renewable" energy sources require huge government subsidies. Isn't the social welfare state unsustainable enough? How does the Times think that scaling up renewable energy won't also end in bankruptcy?
The numbers for China are even more embarrassing. When measured in percentage terms, China's growth in renewable energy from 2000 through 2010 certainly sounds impressive-up 1,545 percent!! Yes, China built a lot of new coal plants, too, but its coal-generated energy only increased 132 percent. Looks like renewables are the story, no? Guess what: China built 85 times as much new coal capacity as solar and wind capacity in the last decade, when measured by energy output rather than percentage growth off the base. All of the projections from IEA and EIA for the next 25 years have more new energy coming from fossil fuels than from renewables. (For more on this, see here and here. Nifty charts and graphs.)
The Times editorial board really should stop drinking those Times Square banana nut smoothies on their coffee breaks. Although it may not help, as it appears their brain freeze is permanent by this point.
The lesson here is obvious: Nothing gets by Power Line.
JOHN adds: Hey, man: when we double up on the Times editorial board, it isn't a failure of editorial coordination, it's a concentration of forces on low-hanging, high-value targets!

A friend wrote this really beautiful poem, so I decided to share.
Squashing Columbia's "Haman" Banquet for Iranian terror leader
,
When we recently learned that the Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was attending the UN's opening activities in New York, had been invited to dinner by a group of Columbia University students we knew we had to act. The Columbia International Relations Council and Association (CIRCA), which had planned the Haman banquet, bills itself as one of Columbia's largest undergraduate organizations, is funded by the University and has its offices right on the campus. We recalled that in 2007, Columbia had also shamefully invited the Iranian leader to speak, providing him with a platform to present his perverted ideas to an international audience while clothed in the vestments of the University's legitimacy. We were determined not to allow it to happen again.
Along with our newly launched American office in New York, we quickly dispatched a warning letter to Columbia University's President Lee Bollinger advising him that Columbia's plan to host a banquet for Ahmadinejad runs afoul of U.S. anti-terror laws and will subject the university and its officials to both criminal prosecution and civil liability to victims of Iranian-sponsored terrorism in Israel or elsewhere. The letter explains that Iran has been designated as a state sponsor of terrorism by the United States (22 U.S.C 2656f) and that the provision of any support by U.S. persons, including the planned banquet for Ahmadinejad, is considered unlawful provision of aid to the outlawed regime. We also wrote that victims of Iranian terrorism will file civil actions and hold Columbia liable for their injuries.
The warning letter, signed by New York attorney Robert Tolchin and myself, noted that we represent individuals and families who have been victims of Iranian-sponsored terror groups such as Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas in legal actions around the world. We accused Ahmadinejad of personally directing Iran's terrorist and nuclear proliferation activities and human rights abuse as well as calling for genocide against the Jewish people. We also reminded the Columbia officials of Iran's massive support for Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, al-Qaeda and Hamas, which have killed thousands of American citizens.
The letter to President Bollinger stated:
"Hosting Ahmadinejad at a banquet is not merely morally repulsive: it is illegal and likely to render Columbia University and its officers both criminally and civilly liable. Iran is official designated under U.S. law as a state sponsor of terrorism, as a proliferator of weapons of mass destruction and as a perpetrator of human rights abuses. Ahmadinejad is Iran's chief executive and personally directs Iran's terrorist and nuclear proliferation activities and human rights abuse . . .
While for Columbia University and certain of its officers hosting Ahmadinejad at a banquet might appear to be nothing more than a harmless Radical Chic parlor game such conduct is in fact very serious business that can and will have severe, real-world criminal and civil consequences for Columbia and its officers."
Columbia University quickly backed away from the planned event and claimed that the University was not involved and it had been organized by a "private" Columbia student group. Whatever that is. In the wake of the public furor it was finally reported that the banquet had been canceled and that the Columbia students did not participate in meeting with the Iranian terrorist leader. Strike up another legal victory for the good guys.
May all such Hamans have their plans nullified in the coming year!

Fellow patriots,
It's sad to see that, even in an article like the one below, the Mainstream Media continues to cover up Muslim atrocities. In this case, the article's declaration that "Indonesia is a secular nation with a long history of religious tolerance" should have gotten the Muslim author fired if there was any interest in truthful reporting. A more accurate statement would have been "Indonesia is a Muslim-dominated nation with a long history of Islamic terrorism and oppression," as anyone who can remember the following tragedies can attest:
Fortunately, the Christian Post also wrote an article on the attack that was a little more honest (see bottom), listing 2 other murderous attacks on groups of Indonesian Christians in the past month. This is an ONSLAUGHT!

"We are now waiting for DNA test results to confirm his identity," Pradopo said. "We hope to reveal it soon."
A woman working at an Internet cafe near the church in the Central Java town of Solo said the man had visited her shop an hour before the explosion and browsed websites about al-Qaida and a local Islamist group.

This is the fifth video of a special six segment series of me interviewing GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain. In this video, Herman Cain - the surprise winner of the Florida Straw Poll - talks foreign policy with me and reveals his exciting new ideas to tame Iran.
I am not planning to back any of the GOP contenders but want to help them all get their message out and then back the nominee in 2012.
Dem strategist says it's time to take Cain seriously
Last week I made a mistake - one for which I often chide others. My examination of the Republican presidential field was poli-centric, focusing on those candidates with a background in politics at the expense of someone who is clearly doing the right thing and doing things right, despite having never held public office - Herman Cain.
Having never held office, Cain is too easily dismissed by the commentariat and by Washington operatives mesmerized by political résumés. Is Cain for real?
President Barack Obama charged Sunday that the GOP vision of government would "fundamentally cripple America," as he tried out his newly combative message on the liberal West Coast.
Aiming to renew the ardor of Democratic loyalists who have grown increasingly disenchanted with him, the president mixed frontal attacks on Republicans with words of encouragement intended to buck up the faithful as the 2012 campaign revs up.
'Shameless!' OnStar tracks users' driving habits even after they quit service; it must stop: Schumer
Included in every Gov't Motors vehicle
Turn it off, OnStar! That's Sen. Chuck Schumer's message to the automotive GPS service, which announced it's automatically tracking where ex-customers go, how fast they drive and even if they and their passengers wear seat belts.
Schumer is calling on OnStar honcho Linda Marshall to end the new practice, which the company announced last week, of keeping watch on former customers unless they explicitly opt out.
Solyndra loan constroversy casts pall on national transportation bank proposal
Wanna see how the "infrastructure bank" would work?
An escalating controversy over government loans to Solyndra could sap whatever momentum a proposed national bank for transportation projects may have gained from being included in President Obama's "American Jobs Act."
The bright lights from the inquiries into the grants to the failed California solar energy company come at time when a long-proposed national infrastructure bank was moving to the forefront of the country's political debate.
Robert Reich thinks everybody should have a "good" job
Rick Perry and Mitt Romney can duke it out over who created the most jobs, but governors have as much influence over job growth in their states as roosters do over sunrises.
States don't have their own monetary policies, so they can't lower interest rates to spur job growth. They can't spur demand through fiscal policies because state budgets are small, and 49 out of 50 are barred by their constitutions from running deficits.
In a fiery summons to an important voting bloc, President Barack Obama told blacks on Saturday to quit crying and complaining and "put on your marching shoes" to follow him into battle for jobs and opportunity. And though he didn't say it directly, for a second term, too.
Obama's speech to the annual awards dinner of the Congressional Black Caucus was his answer to increasingly vocal griping from black leaders that he's been giving away too much in talks with Republicans -- and not doing enough to fight black unemployment, which is nearly double the national average at 16.7 percent.
OTC inhalers to be phased out to protect ozone layer
Now you'll need a prescription
Asthma patients who rely on over-the-counter inhalers will need to switch to prescription-only alternatives as part of the federal government's latest attempt to protect the Earth's atmosphere.
The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday patients who use the epinephrine inhalers to treat mild asthma will need to switch by Dec. 31 to other types that do not contain chlorofluorocarbons, an aerosol substance once found in a variety of spray products.

Government
"Most socialists are not about economic prosperity. Oh, they'll use Keynesian theory that deficit spending stimulates economic growth to justify their demand for more government expenditures. But in the end, Obama's 'stimulus' package wasn't even fair to John Maynard Keynes. Don't get me wrong; the obscene forced federal expenditures wouldn't have succeeded in stimulating the economy even if Obama had used them for that purpose. But he didn't, and it is pretty hard to deny in hindsight that he never intended to. Before he commandeered the $868 billion, he assured us it would go to shovel-ready jobs and get people back to work again. It was only after the fact that he cynically laughed in our faces about the unavailability of such jobs. (He's doing the same thing all over again with his latest jobs bill.) Despite his promise that he would strictly account for this money and watchdog against its waste, he threw gobs of it away to locations with phantom ZIP codes, to ACORN-like political allies, to unions and to corrupt environmental wastelands, such as Solyndra. There was no private-sector economic multiplier effect for any of Obama's stimulus expenditures. The only multiplier effect in this and his other spending bills was in the public sector. Obama furtively tucked into these bills many perpetually sustaining federal programs that would remain with us, continue to grow and further choke the private sector. Thus, if you measure Obama's promise of hope and change against his true intention, he might well be succeeding. As one who believes that America's free market is unfair, he has gone a long way toward shaking up that structure -- and he's not even close to being finished." --columnist David Limbaugh
"Another part of this ['jobs'] bill provides for yet another year of unemployment insurance. That gets us close to three years of federal benefits one can collect before being required to look for a job. Again, progressives somehow imagine that most people will spend every week of those three years determinedly beating the bushes for employment. Spare me. The overwhelming majority of people will spend virtually the entire three years living off the fat of the taxpayer-underwritten land, and only start looking for a job when the government gravy train gets perilously close to the last stop. In addition, does anyone but a progressive believe that three years of not working will have no effect on someone's job skills? Ergo, progressives, whose economic policies have turned people into long-term wards of the state, want those same people to be able to sue someone else if they 'feel' they were discriminated against during a job interview. And according to the president, this is the kind of thinking that will produce another 2.6 million jobs. Good luck with that, my re-distributionist comrades." --columnist Arnold Ahlert

For the Record
"Not only conservatives, but even some liberals, have been calling Social Security a Ponzi scheme for decades. Moreover, neither the media nor the politicians who are carrying on over the use of the words 'Ponzi scheme' show the slightest interest in any hard facts that would tell us whether Social Security is or is not a Ponzi scheme. It is a 'gotcha' moment, and that is apparently what some people live for. ... Social Security worked fine when the small generation from the 1930s received pensions from the money being paid in by the larger and more prosperous 'baby boom' generation that followed. It worked fine when the average life expectancy of the first generation was not long enough for most of them to collect Social Security checks for more than a few years -- if at all. Declining birth rates and greatly increasing lifespans have created havoc with Social Security's finances, which are based on having the first generation's pensions paid with money collected from the second generation -- and the second generation's pensions paid by the next generation, etc. Any private financial scheme set up in a similar way would be illegal. That is why Charles Ponzi went to prison." --economist Thomas Sowell
Essential Liberty
"While ignoring laws that he is obligated to enforce, Mr. Obama has added other duties that would leave America's Founders scratching their heads. ... [An example] is Mr. Obama's heavy-handed seizure of the nation's health care system and Obamacare's unconstitutional mandate for everyone to purchase health insurance. Nowhere, not even in the much-abused commerce clause, does the Constitution give the government the right to force citizens to engage in commerce. If Obamacare is upheld, government bureaucrats can pretty much order us to do anything they want. ... The Constitution's enumerated powers and limitations ensure maximum liberty in a free republic. When the chief enforcer shows such profound contempt for the Constitution, he needs to be reminded that no one is above the law. Not even The One." --columnist Robert Knight
Insight
"Every collectivist revolution rides in on a Trojan horse of 'emergency.' It was the tactic of Lenin, Hitler, and Mussolini. In the collectivist sweep over a dozen minor countries of Europe, it was the cry of men striving to get on horseback. And 'emergency' became the justification of the subsequent steps. This technique of creating emergency is the greatest achievement that demagoguery attains." --President Herbert Hoover (1874-1964)
Political Futures
"There's one sure way for Republicans and conservatives to lose the 2012 presidential election -- split over who their presidential nominee will be, and fail to go all-out to support the winner. ... If Obama is not to be re-elected in 2012, Republicans need to get their act together, decide on a nominee, and back him or her to the hilt. ... It's important to recall that Ronald Reagan outraged some Republicans when as California's governor he raised taxes and signed an abortion bill and became the first California governor to sign a no-fault divorce law. Despite all this, he still went on to become the greatest U.S. president of our lifetime. If he were alive today and we were to nominate him in 2012, I wonder which wing of the GOP his opponents would come from. Regardless of the outcome of such a confrontation, Republicans will have to either hang together or hang alone. ... Put it this way: Who do you hope will be the president when 2013 dawns: Barack Obama or a Republican?" --columnist Michael Reagan
"Essentially, state governments distribute welfare payments via a credit card (EBT). Most major food outlets take EBT as a form of cash. ... Just who is Mr. EBT, though? He's a self-titled rapper who just came out with a new YouTube sensation titled 'My EBT.' Yes, he wears the traditional rapper get-up of a straight-brimmed hat and baggy pants. But look beyond the clothing and see something deeper -- the sort of leech who is bankrupting our society. In a three minute, 51-second song, Mr. EBT champions his eponymous card -- or rather, his sister's EBT card. (Yes, that's fraud.) Because, as we all know, government dependency is a family value. ... Welcome to Obama's America, where shame is no longer allowed. ... This culture of entitlement doesn't start at the bottom; it starts at the top. It doesn't have to do with race, or with class. It has to do with a basic human tendency to accept what we are given and assume that we deserve it. There is a reason that the heads of Solyndra still do not see what they did wrong in blowing nearly half-a-billion dollars. After all, they were entitled to it. For the same reason, those who receive EBT cards and 'swipe! swipe!' away do not see a problem. ... It's time to end the EBT mentality and restore the mentality of individualism and liberty. Otherwise, we'll all end up on the EBT in the near term, and the country will end up bankrupt in the long term." --columnist Ben Shapiro
Opinion in Brief
"Last week, to kick off its campaign seeking UN recognition as a state, the Palestinian Authority staged a highly publicized march to the UN offices in Ramallah, where a letter was delivered for Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. Officials named Latifa Abu Hmeid to lead the procession and hand over the letter. 'She was chosen,' reported the Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam, 'because she is a symbol of Palestinian suffering as a result of the occupation.' What the paper did not mention is that Abu Hmeid is the mother of four murderers, whose sons are serving a total of 18 life sentences for their involvement in multiple terrorist attacks. According to Palestinian Media Watch, this is not the first time Abu Hmeid has been honored. Last year, the Palestinian Authority awarded her 'the Plaque of Resoluteness and Giving,' and a government minister publicly extolled her virtues: 'It is she who gave birth to the fighters, and she deserves that we bow to her in salute and in honor.' It is this grotesque and bloody culture that Palestinian leaders want the UN to affirm as worthy of statehood. The wonder is not they make the request, but that anyone thinks it should be granted." --columnist Jeff Jacoby

"The intellectual class and the left still believe that secularism is an unalloyed blessing. They are wrong. Secularism is good for government. But it is terrible for society (though still preferable to bad religion) and for the individual. One key reason is what secularism does to moral standards. If moral standards are not rooted in God, they do not objectively exist. Good and evil are no more real than 'yummy' and 'yucky.' They are simply a matter of personal preference. One of the foremost liberal philosophers, Richard Rorty, an atheist, acknowledged that for the secular liberal, 'There is no answer to the question, "Why not be cruel?"' With the death of Judeo-Christian-God-based standards, people have simply substituted feelings for those standards. Millions of American young people have been raised by parents and schools with 'How do you feel about it?' as the only guide to what they ought to do. The heart has replaced God and the Bible as a moral guide. ... A vast number of American young people do not even ask whether an action is right or wrong. The question would strike them as foreign. Why? Because the question suggests that there is a right and wrong outside of themselves. And just as there is no God higher than them, there is no morality higher than them, either." --radio talk-show host Dennis Prager
Reader Comments
"In answer to the question posed in Mark Alexander's essay, Taking Down Socialist Tax Fairness Rhetoric, the biggest single threat to American Liberty is the U.S. government. I don't really know how long it has taken, but the citizens of this country have been indoctrinated into the belief that we need the government to take care of us and correct all the ills we face -- all the while the government is the one causing most of the ills." --Dianne
"The greatest threat to American Liberty is apathy. There are a dangerous amount of people who do not care about or care to learn about the bigger picture and how decisions we make know affect the future of our country. Most Americans, unfortunately, believe what they see on television and are not diligent in researching facts and learning history on their own. What we do and think and how we vote DOES matter!" --Amanda
"On Friday you asked what can be done about the thugs in Washington. One thing we can do that costs little is for each of us contact our elected officials multiple times asking for action on each of the crimes by this administration. Keep the heat on until action is taken. My congressman hears from me quite often but one voice crying in the wilderness is not given much attention. A multitude of screaming voices can not be ignored." --Gary
The Last Word
"As its own contribution to the end of the world as we know it, the Obama administration has just released a document called 'Living Within Our Means And Investing In The Future: The President's Plan For Economic Growth And Deficit Reduction.' If you're curious about the first part of the title -- 'Living Within Our Means' -- Veronique de Rugy pointed out at National Review that under this plan debt held by the public will grow from just over $10 trillion to $17.7 trillion by 2021. In other words, the president's definition of 'Living Within Our Means' is to burn through the equivalent of the entire German, French and British economies in new debt between now and the end of the decade. You can try this yourself next time your bank manager politely suggests you should try 'living within your means': tell him you've got an ingenious plan to get your spending under control by near doubling your present debt in the course of a mere decade. He's sure to be impressed." --columnist Mark Steyn

Presidential Debates Are Not Serious
By Star Parker
9/26/2011
The presidential debates are looking more and more like symptoms of the problems we've got than part of the process of solving them.
Maximum style, minimum substance. Focus on sizzle, forget about the steak.
These events are supposed to be about quality information, raising the bar, and producing a thoughtful, informed electorate. But they are being produced to provide entertainment, and we are barely getting that.
Technology doesn't take the place of substance. Youtube and real time polling are not substitutes for thoughtful, provocative questioning.
Can it really be that Rick Perry, in this third debate in which he has appeared, was not pushed, after all the heat being thrown out on Social Security, on how specifically how he would reform it?
Can it be, as health care expert after health care expert has laid out the long list of failures of Romneycare in Massachusetts, and its unquestionable similarities to Obamacare, that Mitt Romney was not grilled thoroughly on this and called on his sidestepping and denials?
Can it be that, on a day where the stock market in our country dropped 3 ½ percent and in China 5 percent, that candidates were not asked what they think is wrong with the global economy?
Late last week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) took what is being called "the final step" towards implementing their illegal Net Neutrality regulations.
You may recall, that back on December 21, the FCC bypassed government regulations and seized control of the Internet -- delivering what many believe is a knockout blow to one of the last, great free-market frontiers our nation and the world has ever seen.
According to the organization Less Government, regardless of a multiple lawsuits, a move by the House of Representatives and a D.C. Circuit Court unanimously ruling that the FCC had no authority to take control, the fed is still arrogantly pushing forward toward full implementation of their Net Neutrality regulations on November 20!
The FCC's Net Neutrality regulations would be job-killers -- likely stifling the $30 billion annually that investors pour into Internet development and advancement and hundreds of thousands of jobs.
And that's not the worst of it... As we warned several months ago, these regulations will lead to the FCC's control Web content!
Should we expect anything less?
Considering government growth and control is surging while private sector job opportunities continue shrinking! Now Americans are in danger of losing their free speech rights through this latest FCC Net Neutrality power-grab!
+ + A Grassroots Call to Action!
The only way to stop this runaway train is for grassroots Americans to appeal to the Senate to move quickly to pass a Congressional Review Act (CRA) Resolution that would effectively kill the illegal, job-killing Net Neutrality order.
With more than 100,000 petitions already in hand, Grassfire Nation is asking key members of our team -- like you, who haven't yet added their name to our petition, to do so right now by clicking here:
With your help, we anticipate delivering 150,000 petitions or more in the week ahead as we work together to stop the federal takeover of the Internet!
After signing, please alert your friends and family members.
Since this has not been publicized by the liberal media, many Internet users are likely unaware of the huge threat looming overhead. You can help change that by sending this message to them and encouraging them to take action with you by clicking below.

A pattern of providing White House support to favored companies - at taxpayer risk - is emerging.
September 15, 2011 - by Richard Pollock
There's a White House scandal involving favoritism towards a specific company high on President Obama's political agenda - and it's not Solyndra.
In this case, the company owner happens to be a big Democratic Party donor. And in the pursuit of giving preference to a specific company, the White House undercut a legendary four-star general and potentially undermined U.S. national security. Adding fuel to the explosive story: at one time President Obama was a personal investor, with $50,000 of his own money.
The company? It's called LightSquared. And you're likely to hear more about it in the future. The scandal involves the White House overruling the Pentagon, endangering the American GPS commercial marketplace, and playing favorites to a single company - all to please a well-positioned Democratic donor and advance an Obama pet project.
A disturbing report yesterday by Eli Lake at the Daily Beast charges that the White House pressured U.S. Air Force General William Shelton, commander of the U.S. Space Command, to change his testimony about his opposition to a $14 billion LightSquared wireless internet project. The Space Command and Gen. Shelton warned that LightSquared could cripple the Pentagon's Global Positioning System (GPS). Lake writes that the White House took sides in favor of LightSquared and against the Pentagon:
Shelton's prepared testimony was leaked in advance to the company. And the White House asked the general to alter the testimony.
For the past few decades, the federal government has continuously increased its power over local schools, through funding with strings attached, with depressing results. Since the 1970's federal spending on education has nearly tripled, yet student achievement has remained flat and graduation rates have not improved. However, that increased spending has had a major impact on the amount of red tape, paperwork and administrative costs imposed on local schools and teachers, taking valuable time away from their core mission - educating children.
While federal policymakers are busy spending billions to make matters worse for public schools, they're also busy preventing students from having better choices, at the behest of powerful teachers unions. While charter, parochial and private schools offer better results and graduation results, President Obama and his allies are trying to prevent children from enrolling in them through cost-effective aid for school choice that measurably puts them on a path of success.
If nothing else, Elizabeth Warren's campaign for Commissar of Massachusetts deserves to be credited for getting at the heart of the issue. And the issue is private property.
Is there such a thing as private property? According to the Warrens, private property is a false construct. Property is generated, maintained and protected through the state. The individual is a sharecropper whom the state generously allows to retain the majority of his wealth and land. But when the individual begins getting uppity and asking why he has to give the state so much, then it's time to remind him that everything he has really belongs to the state.
Elizabeth Warren is unsurprisingly a lawyer, even less surprisingly, a Harvard Law professor, still less surprisingly, she had a string of government appointments on influential committees. Her resume is representative of how unrepresentative Harvard lawyers with government connections are to the people on whose behalf they claim to have abolished private property.
After overseeing the TARP boondoggle, Warren insists with a straight face that the government has the right to demand more money from the people for the benefit of everyone around them.
"You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for," Warren says. But the flip side of that equation is that it's the need for markets and goods that helped get the roads built in the first place. It's that need which makes cities and towns, more than public servants do.
Facebook forming own PAC to back candidates By Gautham Nagesh
Facebook confirmed it filed paperwork on Monday to start its own political action committee.
"FB PAC will give our employees a way to make their voice heard in the political process by supporting candidates who share our goals of promoting the value of innovation to our economy while giving people the power to share and make the world more open and connected," said a spokesman via email.
The firm acknowledged the formation of the PAC after reports emerged of Facebook registering the domain names FBPAC.org and FBPAC.us. Creating a PAC is just the latest step in Facebook's continued expansion of its presence in Washington, but this is the first time the firm will back candidates.
Do college kids know who Hitler is? Watch 180 the movie and find out!
Interviews with college-age people in California (about various topics) are throughout this new movie. I just watched this movie and found it to be very thought-provoking. I was amazed at what the college kids did NOT know. It is graphic in parts, has some rough people in it who may offend you, and is very hard-hitting. It is filled with films from the past, the gospel, lots of history, and interviews with YOUNG people. By the end of the discussion, because an adult talked with them, they changed their minds.
RJC: AJC Poll Shows Obama's Serious Decline Among Jewish Voters
Washington, D.C. (September 26, 2011) - The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) made the following response to the American Jewish Committee survey of American Jewish opinion released today:
"The AJC poll reinforces what we saw in the special election in New York's 9th congressional district two weeks ago - that President Obama is losing Jewish support," said RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks. "In fact, the approval numbers that President Obama got in this poll put him at near-Jimmy Carter levels of disapproval among American Jews. For the first time, a plurality or majority of respondents disapproved of the President's handling of key issues such as the economy and the U.S.-Israel relationship. These numbers show why Democrats are scrambling to shore up their support in the Jewish community."
Brooks concluded, "These results demonstrate on a national scale what the vote in NY-9 showed us on a local scale. Despite the Democrats' spin to the contrary, there can be no dispute now that President Obama has a serious problem among Jewish voters."
Background:
The AJC poll showed President Obama's job approval rating among Jewish respondents at 48% disapproval to 45% approval. Last year those numbers were 44% disapproval and 51% approval.
Jews disapprove of how Obama has handled the economy by a wide margin, 60% to 37%.
With regard to the President's handling of the U.S.-Israel relationship, the majority disapproved 53% to 40%. In last year's AJC poll, those numbers were 45% disapproval to 49% approval, showing a significant drop-off in support for the President on Israel.
Silly Puddy. Slime. Marcia Brady. The Jackson 5. Apple Sticks. Bush Balls. Wonderama! Yep, I'm feeling like a kid again. A scrawny, gap-toothed, slanted Afro wearing kid. No, I'm not going through a nostalgia thing. No, it's not that at all. I just got finished listening to President Obama all but tell me and every other Black person within earshot to all but take a 'time out' and go to my room. At the Congressional Black Caucus' Annual Legislative Dinner, our dear President (an invited speaker) told us Black folks to stop whining, moaning, groaning, criticizing and lazily sitting in front of our TV sets and get with the Program (ie. getting his butt re-elected). And just like the little children he seems to see us as, members of the audience jumped to their feet, hooting and hollering. "Yes, Big Daddy, this ain't about us, it's about YOU! We ain't got no right sticking out our lips! We gotcha, Big Daddy. We gonna fight for you!"
House Judiciary Committee Passes Mandatory E-Verify
In a 22-13 party-line vote, the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday passed legislation by Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) that would require all employers to use the E-Verify employment eligibility verification program. In addition to requiring all employers to use E-Verify, the legislation, entitled the "Legal Workforce Act" (H.R. 2885), makes several important changes including limiting the number of documents employers may accept to verify employment eligibility and increasing the penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens or fail to use E-Verify.
House Homeland Security Committee Moves Border Bills
The House Homeland Security Committee last week marked up several pieces of legislation intended to help protect America's borders. The committee, chaired by Rep. Peter King (R-NY), passed a total of six bills which evidenced "bipartisan agreement and highlights our shared goal of improving security while enhancing coordination and facilitation between [Department of Homeland Security (DHS)], other agencies, and the public," King said.

'Every Single One' Fallout: Justice Dept. in Turmoil From PJMedia Series
What's happened up until now, and what internal leaks say about what's coming. Hint: jobs may now be at stake. (This is the twelfth of a series of articles about the Justice Department's hiring practices since President Obama took office. Read parts one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, and eleven.)
September 26, 2011 by David Steinberg
113 and Oh.
Following the Justice Department's long-delayed compliance with a Freedom of Information Act request, PJMedia recently published content from the resumes of each career attorney hired to the DOJ's Civil Rights Division under Attorney General Eric Holder. The articles were written by two former Civil Rights Division attorneys - J. Christian Adams and Hans von Spakovsky - and PJMedia Editor Richard Pollock.
The Justice Department is forbidden by federal law from hiring employees based on political affiliation. Yet the resumes revealed the following ideological breakdown among the new hires:
Leftist lawyers: 113
Moderate, non-ideological, or conservative lawyers: 0.
That represents the basest headline for the series, the matter-of-fact evidence that should lead any reasonable observer to believe the DOJ has employed an illegal political litmus test during the interview process. But the "Every Single One" series has provided additional benefits: the results present the inherent flaw in leftism's perversion of the term "civil rights," while providing a real world example of the flawed belief actualized. Additionally, the "Every Single One" series presents ramifications that reach far beyond the individuals most directly affected by DOJ activity.
The Jobs Bill is not about creating jobs, but surrendering States' Sovereignty.
Under Sec.376, States receiving any Federal funding whether Medicaid, Medicare, Tuition, FEMA, etc. will now surrender its Sovereignty under this new Jobs Bill.
Surrendering Sovereign Immunity allows states to be sued by anyone recognized by the Federal Government.
Interesting that Hilda Solis has been advocating the rights of illegals and now this Jobs plan forces states to yield its sovereignty to be sued. It is also likely Labor Unions could invoke this requirement to supersede Right to Work and force unionization of state agencies and businesses.
Is this a Jobs Bill or a bill to expand Federal power via DOJ, DOL, and others members of the Federal Family?
SEC. 376. FEDERAL AND STATE IMMUNITY.
(a) Abrogation of State Immunity- A State shall not be immune under the 11th Amendment to the Constitution from a suit brought in a Federal court of competent jurisdiction for a violation of this Act.
(b) Waiver of State Immunity-
(1) IN GENERAL-
(A) WAIVER- A State's receipt or use of Federal financial assistance for any program or activity of a State shall constitute a waiver of sovereign immunity, under the11th Amendment to the Constitution or otherwise, to a suit brought by (123) an employee or applicant for employment of that program or activity under this Act for a remedy authorized under Section 375(c) of this Act.

Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

AP correctly transcribes Obama; MSNBC cries racism
During a speech President Obama gave to the Black Caucus he spoke in such a way that none of the 'g' letters were pronounced. The AP reporter writing the report on the speech transcribed the words just as President Obama said them and MSNBC took exception to this calling out the AP for its obvious racism. Wait, does MSNBC have a problem with the way President Obama speaks? Sounds...racist! Audio & Glenn's reaction HERE.
Churches to lose tax free status?
Glenn talked about the issue today regarding churches and their tax status - which may be in jeopardy if they engage in any political talk whatsoever. What was Netanyahu thinking?
For some reason, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu thought it would be a productive use of his time to appear on 'Meet the Press' this weekend. Not surprisingly, the entire interview was boiled down to the host trying to get Netanyahu to say something negative about President Obama. He would have been justified, but he didn't take the bait. What happened when he wouldn't engage? Get the answer HERE.
