Doc blanks Astros as Phils clinch playoff berth

HOUSTON -- Two things resulted from Philadelphia's 1-0 win over Houston on Wednesday afternoon at Minute Maid Park. First, the Phils clinched at least a National League Wild Card spot. And second, the Astros lost their 98th game, which set a club mark for most losses in a season.

Judiciary Committee To Debate E-Verify Thursday

Posted by Bill Thomas on September 14, 2011 at 2:12pm in General, Town Hall

This is the committee that writes the rules which make-up the law known as E-Verify.  This week Linda Jordan, a homemaker from Seattle, ran President Obama's fraudulent Social Security number through E-Verify.    President Obama's Social Security number - it's from Connecticut - IT DID NOT PASS E-Verify.   As a result, he could not qualify to pick tomatoes in this country.   We need to bring this to the attention of this committee IMMEDIATELY.

Republican Congressman Serving on the Judiciary Committee

Lamar Smith, TX, Chairman                                James Sensenbrenner, Jr., WI

Howard Coble, NC                                             Elton Gallegly, CA

Bob Goodlatte, VA                                            Daniel Lungren, CA

Steven Chabot, OH                                           Darrell Issa, CA

Mike Pence, IN                                                  James Forbes, VA

Steven King, IA                                                 Trent Franks, AZ

Louie Gohmert, TX                                            James Jordan, OH

Ted Poe, TX                                                      Jason Chaffetz, UT

Tim Griffin, AK                                                  Thomas Marino, PA

Trey Gowdy, SC                                                Dennis Ross, FL

Sandra Adams, FL                                            Ben Quayle, AZ

(I did not include any of the Democrat Congressman because it's doubtful Waters or any of her ilk would ever take any action against their beloved president.)

Go here to send your message to the Congressman serving on the Judiciary Committee:

http://www.congressweb.com/cweb2/index.cfm/siteid/resourcecenter/ac...

Here is what I sent to them.

Dear Congressman            :

Before you begin debating any changes to E-Verify you need to address a more urgent matter directly related  to  E-Verify.

Barack Obama's Social Security number does not pass the requirements of E-Verify.

The Connecticut Social Security number he is using does not belong to him.

This is FRAUD, which is a crime.

According to E-Verify, the president of the United States cannot qualify for picking tomatoes in this country, yet he is the Commander in Chief and has access to all of our country's secrets.

Additionally, since he was elected president, he has appointed Marxist czars and convicted criminals to his staff, and has violated The Constitution of the U.S. countless times.

He is a criminal according to E-Verify, and is not qualified to hold a job in the United States.   He cannot be president!!!    Before you do anything with E-Verify, you must take action on this issue.

Help us man our table at the Gun Show, Valley Forge Convention Center

September 16, 17 and 18

Next weekend,we need two hours or so of your time. Our table at the gun show will display literature about our Tea Party. Best of all, it gives us the rare opportunity to have face-to-face chats with members of the public. We expect that gun show attendees are a promising audience for our message, and hopefully we can recruit new members.

You need not know anything about guns to help man our table, although a few of us can give you some instruction if you desire.

Please respond to this email now, with your willingness to help, and include which day (or days) are OK for you. We'll announce the times in a couple of days. Let me know now so we can make up our manning roster for the table.

Friends,

Thanks to my NYC buddies for this information. The radical, Jew/America/Freedom hating groups listed below will be marching for tyranny on September 15th, in NYC for Palestinian rights. If you check out the list, you'll note the inclusion of three that stand out:

CODE PINK,

INTERNATIONAL SOCIALIST ORGANIZATION AND PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA.

You are aware that CODE PINK's founder and leader, Jodie Evans, is a close friend and financial supporter of President Obama and a well known White House visitor and insider. Her partner, Medea Benjamin is also linked to the White House.

THE PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA, another anti-Israel marching group, according to their website, contains such members in good standing as House members: Donna Edwards, Raul Grijalva, Maxine Waters, Lynn Woolsey, Jim McGovern, Dennis Kucinich, John Conyers and Barbara Lee. All of whom are Democrat House members. Do you think Cong. Debbie Schultz will walk with them in support of Palestine?

THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIALIST ORGANIZATION also has links on its site to such groups as:Planned Parenthood, Greepeace, AFL/CIO, Center for Constitutional Rights, Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), NOW, NARAL and MichaelMoore.com. What a conglomeration of groups!!

So, the marchers for Palestinian rights and the destruction of Israel get the support of the above named individuals and the listed groups. If you research the other organizations involved, you'll dig up more slime among them. Do not forget who they are!

New Yorkers in solidarity with Palestinians worldwide

September 15 - Rally for Palestine

Palestinians Tell the World:   Sovereignty Means Securing

ALL Our Rights!

Palestinians and their supporters everywhere are mobilizing to remind the world of their right to self-determination. In New York we are marching to the United Nations because the world's attention is focused on the vote on Palestine scheduled to take place there.

For over six decades, the U.N. has approved numerous resolutions promising Palestinians their basic rights, none of which has been implemented. We come to the U.N. to demand:

Sovereignty, Equality, and the
Right of Return for Palestinians NOW!

Subject: ATTENTION ALL PENNSYLVANIA VOTERS: Oppose Strong Arm GOP Tactics

STATE GOP MEETING, HARRISBURG, SATURDAY, SEPT. 17, 9:30 am

Pennsylvanians need to communicate to the PA State Republican Party, aka State

Committee, that nothing less than a return to Republican Party principles will be

tolerated by the PA Republican electorate.

The PA GOP leadership continues with their establishment politics of endorsing

candidates in primaries to protect their status quo and will continue to deny the

Republican voters of Pennsylvania their RIGHT to choose the leaders that they

want to represent them.

It is time to show PA GOP leadership that the voting Republicans CAN

UNDERSTAND, DO UNDERSTAND, and WILL NOT STAND for

leadership making the voting decisions in the State of Pennsylvania and

taking away the voice of the voters.

We are asking constituents from every county in Pennsylvania to attend the General

Republican Meeting on*** Saturday September 17th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at

the Harrisburg Hilton, 1 North Second Street, Harrisburg, PA, and personally

experience the disdain that PA GOP leadership has for their fellow Republicans.

Please understand, the"leadership" is not elected.

Please join with fellow Republican voters in unity to make a stand against the strong-arm tactics of the Pennsylvania GOP leadership.

Judical Watch is Demanding Answers  Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:

"The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2

But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.

True the Vote

We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action?   True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step.  For more information email  info@truethevote.org or go  HERE  to sign up now!

DAY OF RAGE PLANNED FOR D.C., STATE CAPITOLS and WALL STREET SEPT 17, 2011

This information came out of Idaho, but this is being staged across the entire 50 states!  We need to be aware and let others know, especially those that live in the capitals, or have businesses there.  If you've seen the riots taking place in Greece, or those in the Middle East, you see a sample of what it looks like they are planning.  Let's hope that either few show up, that they stay peaceful, or that the law enforcement agencies are able to thwart it before it occurs....

Day of rage

September 17th, 2011 is set to be a Day of Rage. The leftists call this a non-violent event, yet their website, Craigslist ads and Facebook postings include information on how to resist arrest, protest in jail and fight the legal system. The anarchists, Marxists and communists have put together a plan, from start to finish, to takeover America. There will be trouble. The only real question, at this point, is what are the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, the NSA and others going to do to stop this? So far, no one in the media is talking about this insurrection, aside from Glenn Beck who told of it months ago. What will you and your family do to do be safe and save our way of life? It is obvious that the commander in chief has no intention of stopping this coming event, these are, after all, his political base.

Thursday 3-4pm "America's Black Shield" - Ted Hayes and Terrance Lang

Please come to our Constitution Day event entitled "Everything you wanted to know about ObamaCare, but didn't know who to ask."

They said we had to pass it to know what's in it, but over a year later, people STILL don't fully understand how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) - aka "ObamaCare" - will affect them and their health.

That's why a coalition of citizens and health care professionals will present "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About ObamaCare But Didn't Know Who to Ask" on the campus of DeSales University in Center Valley, PA from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 - which, ironically, happens to be Constitution Day.  DeSalesUniversity is located in the Lehigh Valley of PA, within easy driving distance of the major population centers of central, northeast, and southeast PA.

Policy professionals, physicians, business and legislative leaders, and representatives from groups most affected by the PPACA will share their insights and expertise through presentations, breakout sessions, exhibits, and panel discussions.

They'll explain how ObamaCare affects personal liberty and the Constitution, families and seniors, taxpayers, Medicare and the deficit, insurance premiums and the uninsured, businesses, employees and the economy, doctors, patients, and access to care, American innovation in medicine, and more.

Also included will be detailed updates on state and national efforts to defund, repeal, replace, and nullify ObamaCare from some of the legislative leaders spearheading those efforts.

Participants will leave the three hour event far more informed about what's in the PPACA than most of the legislators who voted for it, and will be energized to get involved in the fight to save America's health care.  Participants, both live and online, will be empowered by their new understanding of how the PPACA will not accomplish any of the things its name implies, and will be able to effectively communicate that new understanding to others, providing important education about why this ill-conceived piece of legislation needs to be defeated by any means possible.

Already, according to Rasmussen's most recent poll, 54% of Americans want to see ObamaCare repealed, while only 39% oppose repeal - but the people who passed it clearly have not heard the voices of the American people yet.  The more Americans know about the PPACA, the more they dislike it, and this conference will help to provide the tools citizen advocates and health care professionals need to effectively participate in the process to defund, repeal, and replace ObamaCare.

The event will be free to the public on site in a venue which will seat 500, and a live streaming video, and a professionally produced program will promote information about our coalition's sponsoring groups, as well as providing important information about the PPACA.

Please consider joining with the Lehigh Valley Coalition for Health Care Reform to help educate the public about ObamaCare through your sponsorship of this important event.  If you'd like to be involved, please contact me ASAP and I'll reserve your space in our program and on the promotional materials.  We are currently working on creating a web page and Facebook page for the event.

Agenda 21 In One Easy Lesson

Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked.

So here it is. A one page, quick description of Agenda 21 that fits on one page. I've also included for the back side of your hand out a list of quotes for the perpetrators of Agenda 21 that should back up my brief descriptions.

A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. Research, know your details; discover the NGO players in your community; identify who is victimized by the policies and recruit them to your fight; and then kill Agenda 21. That's how it must be done. The information below is only your first step. Happy hunting.

What is Sustainable Development?

RedState

RedState Morning Briefing

For September 15, 2011

1. BREAKING: White House Pressured OMB to Approve Solyndra Loan Before Due Diligence Complete

Things are going from bad to worse for the White House on the Solyndra collapse. It is embarrassing enough for the President that his highly touted "green jobs" stimulus success story folded like a cheap suit leaving 1100 people out of jobs and leaving the tax payers with a bill upwards of half a billion dollars. Now, the Washington Post is reporting that political officials in the White House pressured the OMB to approve the massive federal loan to Solyndra before the OMB's due diligence was complete.

2. More Solyndra: DoE Let Taxpayers Take Backseat to Obama's Buddy Investors in Bankruptcy

The news is coming in fast and furious on the Solyndra scandal, which is now looking like it may become one of the prime campaign issues in 2012. In addition to the revelation that the Obama administration pressured the OMB to approve the loan guarantees to Solyndra in order to preserve Vice President Biden's photo op, more details are coming out about the Solyndra's collapse, and it looks increasingly like this was one of the most crooked government boondoggles ever. The details are so bad, the mainstream media is now giving them extensive coverage. I'll give you the conclusion up front: when it was obvious in February 2011 that Solyndra was going to go under and someone was going to take a financial bath, the Obama administration ensured that friends and donors of Barack Obama were protected while the American taxpayers were left out to dry.

For example, ABC news is reporting that DoE officials warned before the loan was even approved (in 2009) that Solyndra would go bankrupt in September 2011, a prediction which turned out to be 100% accurate. The Obama administration ignored this warning and pressured the OMB to approve a loan to a company founded by one of President Obama's biggest bundlers, George Kaiser, who visited the White House 16 times in the last two years on behalf of Solyndra. In the wake of Congressional hearings today, it was revealed that it was obvious that Solyndra was going to go under and that someone was going to take a bath on the entire project. In order to delay the PR debacle, the DoE secured bridge financing in the amount of $75M. In exchange for this financing, the DoE allowed the taxpayers' interest to be subordinated to the interests of the private investors in bankruptcy.

3. GOP Must Use Political Victories to Oppose Obama's Stimulus in its Entirety

The Democrats have provided Republicans with a historic opportunity to go on offense against Keynesian stimulus, and apply jujitsu against the Democrat 2012 playbook - Mediscare tactics. They shouldn't blow it.

The other night, Democrats got wiped out in two special elections; losing by 22% in Nevada CD-2 and by 8% in a New York district that hasn't voted Republican since 1922. These victories were buoyed by Obama's record disapproval ratings across every demographic, most notably, whites and independents.

While there have been copious pages of commentary published in an attempt to analyze the source of the GOP's success, it is clear which tactic was unsuccessful: Mediscare (are you watching, Mitt Romney?). Both Democrat candidates attacked their opponents incessantly as proverbial killers of Medicare and Social Security. Although this pathetic line of attack is 50 years old, it was slated to serve as the impetus for Democrats' 2012 campaign strategy. Well, their only plan to win in 2012 failed miserably, providing Republicans with a chance to launch a counterattack.

4. Obama: "If you love me, pass this bill!"

Yes, he is trying to revive the Cult of Personality and make it all about himself.

Seriously. He went there. The President tells a crowd he loves them and if they love him they will help him pass his bill.

51% of Americans do not think the President's jobs plan will create jobs. The voters of New York just rejected Obama in NY-09. Let's not even talk about the Nevada Special Election.

This may sound like a cheer and a pep rally. In fact, it could more accurately be described as a desperate cry for help.

Whatever happened to Bo, the dog Barack Obama named after himself? I suspect we'll start to see more pictures of the President spending more time with his dog. Few others want him.

5. Oh Sheets! Union Tries To Distance Itself From Racial Noose, Monkey & Rat Incident

There is a labor dispute going on in the Midwest that has taken an ugly turn as the union involved has allegedly resorted to racial attacks against security personnel and replacement workers.

In Iowa, Minnesota and North Dakota, American Crystal, a cooperative that accounts for 38 percent of the nation's sugar from beets and 15 percent of overall sugar production, locked out 1300 unionized workers over a month ago as their negotiations for a new contract fell apart.

6. Darrell Issa and the Ongoing Fight Against Postal Bailouts

Most Americans by now have heard via numerous press accounts that the United States Postal Service (USPS) is on the brink of default in the absence of Congressional action. Now this does not mean that the mail system is going to shut down all of a sudden. It means that the Postal Service will violate the law by not making its $5.5 billion debt payment to taxpayers for the unfunded liability of providing federal healthcare benefits to its workers. Accordingly, USPS is asking Congress to both relieve them of this payment (a bad idea and something conservatives have fought for years) and untie their hands to cut some of their costs (a good thing). Fortunately, Darrell Issa, the Chairman of the Government Reform and Oversight Committee with jurisdiction, is fully engaged with trying to prevent the former and pursue the latter.

Issa deserves tons of credit. It is a thankless task to try and reform the Postal Service when its threatening to shut its doors and every local postmaster is whining to their local congressman to forestall the doom. Furthermore, nobody comes to Congress with a burning passion to take on postal reform, and very few committee chairmen are willing to spend their political capital to reform programs within their jurisdiction in a manner that ultimately lessens their power. In fact, former chairmen like Tom Davis repeatedly put forward "reform" bills that were bailouts by another name, designed to placate the labor unions and corporations that benefit from artificially cheap mail.

Thankfully, Issa has said enough. He told his colleagues there would be no more bailouts and proposed reforms to allow USPS to shed costs and compete without federal assistance. But this promises to be a major fight, and it will be interesting to see how a Republican Congress handles this difficult political football.

7. Majority Think Jobs Plan is Crap: Weak and Indecisive and Now Even More Dead on Arrival

Mark Hemingway points out just how fast the White House caves these days.

Tuesday morning, David Axelrod went on television and declared the GOP must pass the President's jobs plan totally. All or nothing or something like that.

By early mid-day, the White House began signaling it'd cut a deal with the GOP.

By Tuesday night David Weprin got annihilated in NY-09.

Now, Bloomberg reports Americans think the plan is crap. 53% of Independents dislike the President's jobs performance and a majority of Americans think the President's jobs plan will not create jobs.

It is time for the GOP to pitch a clear alternative of deregulation, tax reform, capital gains cuts, and corporate tax cuts.

8. Time to Fire Up the Ed Rollins Strategy

It is time for the Democrats to fire up the Ed Rollins strategy. Back in 1990, Ed Rollins, who earlier this year had served as Michele Bachmann's campaign manager, ran the National Republican Congressional Committee. This was "read my lips" time and the country really felt betrayed by President George H. W. Bush.

Rollins took a gamble. He wrote a memo to GOP candidates in which he dared put in writing the famous sentence, "Do not hesitate to distance yourself from the President." He'd already gone to war with Bush over reading a lie on Bush's lips in the budget deal. This escalated things.

George Bush demanded House leaders fire Rollins until it leaked out that they had asked Ed Rollins to write the memo. The GOP went on to lose only 9 seats after many of them campaigned aggressively against Bush's betrayal.

Force them to sit down with a beer and watch Starship Troopers (1997).

This is perhaps the greatest 'Nam movie ever made because it's one of the few (John Wayne's Green Berets and the Mel Gibson flick We Were Soldiers get honorable mention here) that doesn't say America is bad or ask you to feel guilty. On the contrary, it invites you to rejoice in the death of America's enemies, and to cheer their annihilation in any number of gruesome and satisfying ways. That's because in this 'Nam parable, the VC and NVA are played by evil, insectoid-alien hell creatures.

 ZOA

Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,

Please take a few minutes and take the appropriate action on behalf of Israel:

Action Alert:

The Palestinian Authority plans to ask the United Nations to recognize and unilaterally declare a state of "Palestine" in September. The request will be considered by both the U.N. Security Council and the U.N. General Assembly. While it is the Security Council decision that is binding, a General Assembly vote in favor of the Palestinian-Arabs will change the dynamic of the peace process - abandoning the principle of a negotiated settlement and scrapping the heart of the Oslo Accords. This will be a threat to Israel's security. The vote is scheduled to take place on or about Sept. 20. Meanwhile, Philadelphia City Councilman Brian O'Neill has introduced a resolution expected to be passed by the Council tomorrow (Sept. 15). endorsing Senate and House legislation opposing the Palestinian Authority's unilateral declaration.

ACTIONS:

Please contact the American Embassies of North, Central and South American nations, European nations, African nations and Asia/Pacific nations as well as India and ask them to urge their respective countries to please vote "No" on the issue of a Palestinian state. A Palestinian state declared unilaterally will subvert peace and threaten Israel.

The Web site http://www.embassy.org/embassies/ offers a list with contact information for each of the Embassies.

Please be courteous with whomever you speak with or email. You can also send a fax.

Meanwhile, please thank Councilman Brian O'Neill for introducing the pro-Israel resolution in City Council (see resolution at bottom). Councilman O'Neill can be reached at 215-686-3422

BACKGROUND:

  • The root of this initiative by the Palestinian Authority is to avoid a negotiated settlement with Israel. A unilateral declaration by the Palestinian Authority  demonstrates they are not interested in a negotiated peace with Israel.
  • The Palestinian Authority refuses to recognize Israel as the Jewish State and does not accept  the formula of "two states for two peoples."
  • The Palestinian Authority entered into a unity agreement with Hamas, recognized by the State Department as a terrorist organization that openly calls for genocide against Jews.
  • PA President Mahmoud Abbas and other leading PA officials have  declared that no Jews will be allowed to live in a "state of Palestine."
  • The Palestinian Authority does not meet the widely accepted criteria for statehood.
  • A broad spectrum of Jewish organizations, from the ADL to the ZOA, have  opposed this UN vote and see it as a danger to Israel.
  • Many U.N.-member nations have announced they plan to support the Palestinian-Arab initiative. Others have not announced their plans.

Resolution

Supporting United States Senate Resolution 185 - Reaffirming the Commitment of the United States to a Negotiated Settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

WHEREAS,  The Council of the City of Philadelphia expresses its strong support of United States Senate Resolution 185, which reaffirms the commitment of the United States to a negotiated settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.  It also reaffirms opposition to the inclusion of Hamas in a united government unless it is willing to accept peace with Israel and renounce violence and, further, it declares that Palestinian efforts to gain recognition as a state outside direct negotiations demonstrates absence of a good faith commitment to peace negotiations, and will have implications for continued United States aid; and

WHEREAS,  The policy of the United States since 2002 has been to support a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; and

WHEREAS,  A true and lasting peace between the people of Israel and the Palestinians can only be achieved through direct negotiations between the parties.  This was the feeling of Palestine Liberation Organization Chair Yassir Arafat, who wrote to Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin on September 9, 1993, stating that all outstanding issues relating to permanent status will be resolved through negotiations; and

WHEREAS,  The reconciliation agreement signed by Fatah and Hamas on May 4, 2011 was reached without Hamas being required to renounce violence, accept Israel's right to exist, and accept prior agreements made by the Palestinians (the Quartet conditions).  Hamas, an organization responsible for the death of more than 500 innocent civilians, including two dozen United States citizens, has been designated by the United States Government as a foreign terrorist organization and a specially designated terrorist organization.  It has violated international norms since 2006, when it kidnapped and held captive Israeli sergeant Gilad Shalit, and it continues to forcefully reject the possibility of negotiations or peace with Israel.  By contrast, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; and

WHEREAS,  Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has stated, "We will not deal with nor in any way fund a Palestinian government that includes Hamas unless and until Hamas has renounced violence, recognized Israel and agreed to follow the previous obligations of the Palestinian Authority."  The United States has also vetoed, under two Presidents, 11 United Nations Security Council resolutions related to this conflict and our Permanent Representative to that organization has stated that it is "unwise" for the United Nations to attempt to resolve key issues between the Israelis and Palestinians.  The United States Congress has also resolved that any attempt to establish Palestinian statehood outside the negotiating process will "invoke the strongest possible congressional opposition."  The United States provides more than $550,000,000 annually and more than $3,500,000,000 cumulatively in direct bilateral assistance to the Palestinians, who are among the world's largest recipients of foreign aid per capita; and

WHEREAS, The resolution reaffirms the Senate's strong support for a negotiated solution, resulting in two states: a democratic Jewish state of Israel and a viable, democratic Palestinian state, living side-by-side in peace, security and mutual recognition.  It states its firm belief that any Palestinian unity government must publicly and formally forswear terrorism, accept Israel's right to exist, and reaffirm previous agreements made with the state of Israel.  It also reiterates its strong opposition to any attempt to establish or seek recognition of a Palestinian state outside of an agreement negotiated between leaders in Israel and the Palestinians.  The resolution supports the President's opposition to a unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state and calls on other elements of the United States Government to continue the strong statements expressed in the past; now therefore be it,

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby express the strong support of this legislative body for United States Senate Resolution 185.  We acknowledge the bipartisan co-sponsorship of this resolution by 88 members of the United States Senate, including both Senators Casey and Toomey of Pennsylvania, and its subsequent passage by unanimous consent.  It is our hope that this strong message by the United States Senate and other legislative bodies around the nation will help bring about the peace so desperately needed in this region.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Ambassador Susan E. Rice, United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations, for inclusion in the official record.

Introduced by Councilman Brian J. O'Neill

Morning Bell: Confronting Terror The Best Way We Can

As John Yoo, a former official in the U.S. Department of Justice between 2001-2003, said yesterday at The Heritage Foundation, "The most important thing to happen in the U.S. in the last 10 years was nothing... the most important question to ask is why and whether it was worth it."

Now a legal scholar, Yoo bared his thoughts in a new, multi-authored book of essays on the 9/11 tragedy and its aftermath, Confronting Terror. The book includes reflections from a variety of notable figures on issues like presidential authority during a time of war, enforced interrogation, and other controversial issues

Our Canine Heroes and Islamic Dogophobia
Kalb, or dog, is one of the worst possible insults in the Muslim world. Call a man Kalb or Kalb ibn Kalb, if you want the knives to come out. In Afghanistan, those who fled the Taliban and returned to help the Coalition rebuild the country are called "Sag shouey" or "Dog washers" since Americans are infidel dogs and the Afghans who cooperate with Americans are menial servants of the dogs.

Mohammed, in addition to his affinity for pre-teen girls also had a compulsive hatred of dogs. Some Hadiths quote him ordering the killing of all dogs, others show him to be moderate ordering that only "'black dogs" be killed. Which gives a special edge to the not uncommon description in the Muslim world of Obama as a "black dog".

After Osama bin Laden's execution, an imam of the Al-Aqsa mosque castigated the "Western dogs" who had done it. And as it turned out a dog actually did accompany the SEAL team that took down Osama. Unlike the billions spent on trying to win over Pakistanis and Afghans, who went on aiding terrorists anyway-- the dogs remained true and loyal friends.

On September 11th, among the first responders were our four footed friends who risked their lives clambering around the smoking rubble in search of survivors. Muslims believe that an angel cannot enter a home when a dog is inside. But after the Muslims had killed thousands of Americans, it was the dogs who acted as the angels finding the bodies where they could and helping give the families of the dead something to bury.

When Muslims plot terrorist attacks, it is the bomb sniffing dogs who serve as the front line of defense against them. Military dogs walk the front lines searching out Taliban explosives and have become primary targets of enemy snipers. At airports, we would do much better to fire the TSA's gropers and luggage thieves, and dump the naked scanners, and replace them with dogs. The enemy may fool our politicians, our clergy and our law enforcement-- but they will never fool a dog.

Back in Israel, my parents found a puppy that had fallen into the hands of Muslim youths who tortured and abused it. That puppy grew into a wise and intelligent animal that went into a rage at the sight of one of its tormentors. No matter how they dressed or how well they spoke, people could be fooled, but she could never be fooled.

Koch asks US to declare an attack on Israel will be deemed an attack on US

Earlier today, I said what Koch is saying. The Arabs think they can take us just as in all previous wars. Hope burns eternal. Much of the blame for the current mindset is Obama's foreign policy decisions. He is to blame. Ted Belman

Will the President and the Congress Send a Message to Turkey and Egypt That An Attack Upon Israel Will Be Viewed As An Attack Upon the U.S.?

By Ed Koch, JWR, Sept. 13, 2011

Israel is now surrounded by Arab and other Muslim nations who believe this is the moment when they can finally destroy the Jewish state. They tried and failed to conquer Israel in five different wars since 1948. They are still trying.

Since the "Arab Spring" revolts in the Arab heartland of Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen and Syria, opinion-makers in the Western world have sought to glamorize those revolutions by comparing them to those by which eastern European countries freed themselves from Communist regimes imposed on them by the Soviet Union.

Militant Islamic Awareness Week Continues: Turkey Resumes Rogue State Status

The Return of the Evil (Ottoman) Empire: Erdogan Brandishes Weapons, Menaces Regional Peace
by Bill Levinson

Israel calls Turkey's threat to send warships 'grave and serious' demonstrates that Turkey has made an armed threat against a fellow Westernized nation, and opens to question whether Turkey is a responsible and civilized nation that should possess any weapons at all.

Murder Conducted by a State: the Turk at his Work

As reported by the reference,

Speaking to Al Jazeera television in Turkish, Erdogan said Ankara would dispatch warships to protect any Turkish aid ships seeking to reach Gaza in defiance of the Israeli blockade.

"Turkish warships will be tasked with protecting the Turkish boats bringing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip," he said in remarks which were translated into Arabic.

"From now on, we will no longer allow these boats to be the targets of attacks by Israel, like the one on the Freedom Flotilla, because then Israel will have to...

Israel's Predicament

By BRET STEPHENS, WSJ

What is Israel's predicament? It is this: It is surrounded on nearly all sides by enemies who are aggressively committed to its destruction. And too many people who call themselves its friends are only ambivalently committed to its security.

Consider the month that Israel has just had:

· On Aug. 18, eight Israelis were killed in a sophisticated cross-border ambush near the frontier with Egypt.

· From Aug. 18-24, some 200 large-caliber, factory-made rockets and mortars were fired at Israel from Gaza.

· On Sept. 1, the head of Iran's atomic energy agency announced that it was moving the bulk of its enrichment facilities to a heavily fortified site near the city of Qom.

· On Sept. 2, the United Nations released a report on the May 2010 Turkish flotilla incident, which defended Israel's right to enforce a naval blockade on Gaza and noted that Israeli commandos faced "organized and violent resistance." The Turkish...

Feckless Jewish Federation in Britain

Brian of London writes

Those luminaries from the Board of Deputies of British Jews decided that after 9/11s demonstration of strength by Muslim fanatics on the streets of London, they would issue the following statement:

Board Statement: Board Speaks Out Against EDL and Extremism

As we have done so consistently in the past, the Board of Deputies of British Jews condemns unreservedly the EDL, their ideology and their actions. It is clear for all to see that the EDL are solely intent on causing divisions and mistrust between different groups in British society. When they wave Israeli flags at a rally or demonstration, they do so only to goad the Muslim community and to stir communal tensions. This, and everything that the EDL stands for, is utterly abhorrent. Equally sickening were the scenes of demonstrators attacking America and celebrating 9/11.  All right thinking people should be repulsed by extremism from any quarter.

Turkey is rattling her frigates

Turkish frigates to confront Israeli vessels, disable their weapons

DEBKAfile Special Report September 12, 2011,

The Erdogan government sharply ratcheted up its threat of war on Israel Monday, Sept. 12 with a report that three Turkish Navy frigates are to sail for the eastern Mediterranean "to ensure freedom of navigation and confront Israeli warships if necessary."

As Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan was set to start a visit to Egypt, Turkish naval sources reported: "If Turkish warships encounter an Israeli military ship outside Israel's 12-mile territorial waters, they will advance up to 100 meters from the ship and disable its weapon system."

The threat bluntly applied to Israel's naval enforcement of its UN-approved blockade of the Gaza Strip.

debkafile's military sources report that this is more than a threat of belligerence against Israeli naval shipping; it is also an attempt to dictate the terms of its threatened military...

Turkey's belligerency is costing her

No US drones for Turkey until armed threat on Israel lifted
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report September 13, 2011,

The Obama administration has turned down a Turkish request for drones or for the deployment of US Predators at Turkish bases until Ankara stops threatening Israel with armed attack, debkafile's military and Washington sources report. Turkey has no functioning unmanned aerial vehicles at present. The "technical problems" grounding the Herons Israel sold Ankara have crippled the Turkish army's campaign against the Kurdish PKK rebels - both in northern Iraq and in southeast Turkey.

In recent days, therefore, the rebels have stepped up their raids on Turkish territory, killing nine people including army and police personnel.

Israeli officialdom and military chiefs are doing their utmost to keep the lid on the spiraling Turkish-Israel confrontation, claiming that a military clash is not imminent because the US, NATO and Europe won't let it...

Let's Roll Over

By Mark Steyn, NRO

We retreat to equivocation, cultural self-loathing, and utterly fraudulent misrepresentation of 9/11.

Waiting to be interviewed on the radio the other day, I found myself on hold listening to a public-service message exhorting listeners to go to 911day.org and tell their fellow citizens how they would be observing the tenth anniversary of the, ah, "tragic events." There followed a sound bite of a lady explaining that she would be paying tribute by going and cleaning up an area of the beach.

Great! Who could object to that? Anything else? Well, another lady pledged that she "will continue to discuss anti-bullying tactics with my grandson."

Marvelous. Because studies show that many middle-school bullies graduate to hijacking passenger jets and flying them into tall buildings?

Whoa, ease up on the old judgmentalism there, pal. In New Jersey, many of whose residents were among the dead, middle-schoolers will mark the anniversary with a...

National Jewish Democratic Council Silent on Obama's Omission of Israel from Terror Victim List

by Bill Levinson

NJDC asked to call out Obama Administration's glaring omission of Israel from list of terrorism victims concluded on September 2,

If the National Jewish Democratic Council wishes to stand behind its promotion of Mr. Obama as a supporter of Israel (or even as somebody who opposes terrorism in general with more than lip service), it needs to get him to clarify his position on whether Israel is a victim of terrorism.

As of today, we have not received a response nor has the National Jewish Democratic Council posted anything on its Web site. This reinforces our belief that NJDC's support for Israel, and indeed for common decency, ends where the left wing of the Democratic Party begins.

Yesterday, Jeffrey Goldberg got everyone's attention by reporting that former Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates considers Israel to be an "ungrateful ally." Ron Kampeas of the JTA linked to a followup piece in Foreign Policyby Dan Drezner "explaining" (rather tendentiously) what Netanyahu's thinking is.

I have no inside information about the Netanyahu regime's internal thinking, but I'd wager that it sounds something like this:
1) All else equal, we prefer an administration that's ideologically sympatico with us - which, in the current moment, means neocon-friendly Republicans;
2) The likelihood that Obama will be re-elected in 2012 is diminishing by the day;
3) Through our strategy of bitching to the media about Obama, we have succeeded in getting every viable GOP contender for president to complain that Obama is "
throwing Israel under the bus."

Cheney: Israel Will Attack a 'Nuclear' Iran

By Ronald Kessler, NEWSMAX

Israel will attack Iran's nuclear facilities if necessary to prevent it from developing a nuclear weapon, former Vice President Dick Cheney tells Newsmax TV in an exclusive interview.

"I think they would," Cheney said when asked about the possibility. "I think Iran represents an existential threat, and they'll do whatever they have to do to guarantee their survival and their security."

When asked if his opinion was based on discussions with Israeli leaders, Cheney responded, "I can't attribute it to any one particular Israeli leader. I wouldn't want to do that." But he said, "I've had a number of conversations with a lot of Israeli officials, and I think they correctly perceive Iran as a basic threat."

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has accused Cheney of taking "cheap shots" by saying in his book that he learned that Powell was opposed to the war in Iraq yet "never once in any meeting did I hear him voice...

Despite FBI warnings, Christians extend helping hand to terrorist magnet

Christian houses of worship are lending their parking lots to a radical Washington-area mosque that aided some of the hijackers who attacked the Pentagon on Sept. 11, despite warnings from FBI agents and local anti-jihad watch groups that such brotherly outreach is only helping the Islamic center expand and potentially attract future terrorists.

Every Single One: The Politicized Hiring of Eric Holder's Voting Section

All sixteen new hires to the Voting Section have far-left resumes - which were only released following a PJM lawsuit. (This is the first in a series of articles about the Civil Rights Division's hiring practices since President Obama took office.)
August 8, 2011 by Hans A. von Spakovsky

For nearly a year, the Civil Rights Division rebuffed Pajamas Media's Freedom of Information Act request for the resumes of attorneys hired into the Division during the tenure of Eric Holder. PJM was finally forced to file a federal lawsuit earlier this year. Only then did Justice relent and turn over the documents. The result leaves little wonder why PJM's request was met with such intense resistance.

The Department's political leadership clearly recognized that the resumes of these new attorneys would expose the hypocrisy of the Obama administration's polemical attacks on the Bush administration for supposedly engaging in "politicized hiring" - and that everyone would see just how militantly partisan the Obama Civil Rights Division truly is. Holder's year-long delay before producing these documents - particularly when compared to the almost-instantaneous turnaround by the Bush administration of a virtually identical request by the Boston Globe back in 2006 - also shows how deep politics now runs in the Department.

 The Patriot Post

Chronicle · September 14, 2011

The Foundation

"An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy; because there is a limit beyond which no institution and no property can bear taxation." --John Marshall

Editorial Exegesis

"President Obama unveiled part two of his American Jobs Act on Monday, and it turns out to be another permanent increase in taxes to pay for more spending and another temporary tax cut. No surprise there. What might surprise Americans, however, is how the President is setting up the U.S. economy for one of the biggest tax increases in history in 2013. Mr. Obama said last week that he wants $240 billion in new tax incentives for workers and small business, but the catch is that all of these tax breaks would expire at the end of next year. To pay for all this, White House budget director Jack Lew also proposed $467 billion in new taxes that would begin a mere 16 months from now. The tax list includes limiting deductions for those earning more than $200,000 ($250,000 for couples), limiting tax breaks for oil and gas companies, and a tax increase on carried interest earned by private equity firms. These tax increases would not be temporary. What this means is that millions of small-business owners had better enjoy the next 16 months, because come January 2013 they are going to get hit with a giant tax bill. ... For the White House, the policy calendar is dictated above all by the political necessities of the 2012 election. Mr. Obama will take his chances on 2013 if he can cajole the private economy to create enough new jobs over the next year to win re-election, even if those jobs and growth are temporary. Business owners and workers who would prefer to prosper beyond Election Day aren't likely to share Mr. Obama's enthusiasm once they see the great tax cliff approaching. Look out below." --The Wall Street Journal

What do you think of Obama's proposed tax hikes?

Upright

"When President Obama outlined his $450 billion jobs plan in a speech before Congress last week, he promised it would all be 'paid for,' and assured us he would present another plan outlining how he planned to do so. ... So much for the 'balanced approach' Obama was so fond of during the debt ceiling debate. The administration will cover the cost of the spending in its new jobs proposal solely by increasing taxes. ... Sound familiar? Recall this line from Obama's speech last week: 'This isn't political grandstanding. This isn't class warfare. This is simple math.' Republicans chuckled when he said that. And now the administration has shown why their laughter was warranted." --National Review's Andrew Stiles

"President Obama's jobs program calls for cuts in both sides of the payroll tax. That tax finances Social Security and Medicare. Social Security and Medicare are already taking in less money than they need to pay retirees. So they will have to cash in more of the Treasury IOUs left behind when previous surpluses were used to finance general expenditures. But the Treasury is also already running a deficit, a trillion dollars-plus. So it will have to borrow more in the capital markets in order to pay back the Social Security and Medicare funds. Unless Obama makes up the lost revenue by changing the tax code. But then money will be withdrawn from the economy in the form of higher taxes so it can be put back into the economy through the payroll-tax cut. Somehow that's supposed to stimulate the economy." --Freeman editor Sheldon Richman

"The White House's proposed means of paying for the 'jobs bill' the president called on Congress to adopt last week really sheds light on the cynicism and confusion at the heart of the president's new campaign theme. In order to be able to insist that he is proposing ideas but Republicans are unwilling to act, the president will apparently propose exactly the same set of massive tax increases that even Democrats in a Democratically-controlled Congress were unwilling to consider in the midst of the Obamacare debate in 2009. ... If telling voters you're unable to do your job were a wise re-election strategy, this might be a clever way to do it. But it isn't." --Yuval Levin of the Ethics and Public Policy Center

"The fact that a mere seven years after being attacked by Muslims, we elected a guy who spent his early years in Islamic schools in Indonesia; his most formative years being raised in Hawaii by white socialists and tutored by a black communist; and his adulthood, attending a black racist church in Chicago, while hanging around with unrepentant radical terrorists, strongly suggests that America should have had its head examined." --columnist Burt Prelutsky

Essential Liberty

Point: "Many people think that when the government takes payroll tax from their paychecks, it goes to something like a savings account. Seniors who collect Social Security think they're just getting back money that they put into their 'account.' Or they think it's like an insurance policy -- you win if you live long enough to get more than you paid in. Neither is true. Nothing is invested. Counterpoint: "Americans might listen to someone who calls Social Security a 'Ponzi scheme,' if he goes on to explain that what he means is that it cannot deliver the benefits it promises without significant reforms. But someone who seems eager to get the federal government out of the business of ensuring retirement security altogether will find a less receptive audience." --National Review's Ramesh Ponnuru

False choices: "I urge reasonable Republicans to resist the voices of the Tea Party and others who would oppose this legislation and [instead] root for our economy. We must not continue to bow to the Tea Party Republicans willing to do anything to hurt the president. [We] cannot allow their radical agenda to crowd out America's jobs agenda." --Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) urging Congress to resist the Tea Party and pass Obama's jobs plan

Civility: "What I saw [Monday night] in that debate, Andrea, was Republican candidates for president worshiping at the altar of the Tea Party." --DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Dezinformatsia

Blind partisanship: "What happened after 9/11 -- and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not -- was deeply shameful. The atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. ... The memory of 9/11 has been irrevocably poisoned; it has become an occasion for shame. And in its heart, the nation knows it." --New York Times columnist Paul Krugman

Misunderstanding sacrifice: "But this is a war -- if you use the Bush terminology, the war against terrorism -- that has been very costly to this country and continues to be costly. ... And when the president goes before the Congress and has to beg for money to modernize schools and build science labs, that's just one small example of the cost we've paid with the obsessive focus on terrorism this last decade." --Newsweek's Eleanor Clift

Sycophants: "Occurs to me we are sitting 30 feet from Harry Truman's official White House portrait. Members of your base are asking: 'When are you going to get your Harry Truman on?'" --NBC's Brian Williams to Obama

Conservatives are dangerous: "This is what [the Tea Party] wanted to hear from these candidates [in Monday night's GOP debate]. There are a lot of people around the country who are just like the folks in this room. And yet there are a huge number of people, an equal number of people, who I think were horrified by what they heard in this room. I was getting notes about they ought to keep these people locked up and not let them out. Don't let them do anything to the country." --CNN political analyst David Gergen

Twisted "logic": "I have to say that I think the president's team has been rather brilliant putting this [jobs bill] together. If the American Jobs Act -- that's a terrific name for it -- and he's paying for it by doing something that 70 percent of Americans believe would be the right thing to do, which is to raise taxes on the people who got us into this mess in the first place. All or nothing: "We want [Congress] to act now on this [Obama jobs] package. We're not in a negotiation to break up the package. And it's not an a la carte menu. It is a strategy to get this country moving." --former Obama senior adviser David Axelrod

Gun grabbers: "[T]he underlying activity of possessing or transporting an accessible and loaded weapon is itself dangerous and undesirable, regardless of the intent of the bearer since it may lead to the endangerment of public safety. Access to a loaded weapon on a public street creates a volatile situation vulnerable to spontaneous lethal aggression in the event of road rage or any other disagreement or dispute.... [I] hold that the state has an important government interest in promoting public safety and preventing crime. ... As crafted, the statute seeks to limit the use of handguns to self-defensive purposes -- a use which, although in this context existing outside the home, is nonetheless a hallmark of Heller -- rather than for some other use that has not been recognized as falling within the protections of the Second Amendment." --Southern District Judge Cathy Seibel of New York claiming that gun carry permits are not a constitutional right

Stunning numbers want Congress to probe Obama's eligibility

Analyst says 'birthers' can't be marginalized, as 28% of Democrats agree

By Bob Unruh
© 2011 WND

Half of Americans would like to see Congress investigate Barack Obama's eligibility for the presidency and nearly that many believe the definition of the constitutional term "natural born citizen" means both parents must be U.S. citizens, according to a new scientific poll.

"There's no marginalizing those who want this matter investigated by Congress," said Fritz Wenzel of Wenzel Strategies, who conducted the WND/Wenzel Poll telephone survey June 16-19. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.85 points.

"Even among Democrats, more than one in four - 28 percent - said they now want an inquiry, as do 43 percent of independents and 77 percent of Republicans. Interestingly, men are much more skeptical than are women about the question of eligibility - only 42 percent of men said they think Obama proved his eligibility by releasing the electronic birth certificate, compared to 59 percent of women."

The poll indicated 43.5 percent of Americans believe that a Hawaii birth would make no difference in Obama's eligibility, as the Constitution requires both parents of a U.S. president to have been U.S. citizens - and Obama's father was not a citizen.

The figure included 56.9 percent of the GOP, 40.2 percent of independents and 32.9 percent of Democrats

Braindead on Arrival

This column by ACRU General Counsel and Senior Fellow for the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) Peter Ferrara was published September 14, 2011 on The American Spectator website.

If President Obama's jobs plan is such a good idea, then why did he wait until the third year of his presidency to propose it?

Oh wait, he didn't actually. The so-called jobs plan Obama is trying to con the nation with now is the same plan of government spending, tax credits, and temporary measures he passed in his trillion dollar stimulus bill in his first month in office in February 2009, only half as large. And one half the effect of zero is still zero.

But not to worry, because President Obama's jobs plan is not about your job, or the jobs of your friends and neighbors, or the jobs of your sons and daughters. It is about his job, and pinning the blame on the Republicans for the economy if they don't pass his silly "jobs" plan. Obama's American Jobs Act is not an economic plan, but a political plan for his reelection.

Too Much Higher Education

This column by ACRU Policy Board Member and Professor of Economics Dr. Walter E. Williams was published September 14, 2011 on Townhall.com.

Too much of anything is just as much a misallocation of resources as it is too little, and that applies to higher education just as it applies to everything else. A recent study from The Center for College Affordability and Productivity titled "From Wall Street to Wal-Mart," by Richard Vedder, Christopher Denhart, Matthew Denhart, Christopher Matgouranis and Jonathan Robe, explains that college education for many is a waste of time and money. More than one-third of currently working college graduates are in jobs that do not require a degree. An essay by Vedder that complements the CCAP study reports that there are "one-third of a million waiters and waitresses with college degrees." The study says Vedder -- distinguished professor of economics at Ohio University, an adjunct scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and director of CCAP -- "was startled a year ago when the person he hired to cut down a tree had a master's degree in history, the fellow who fixed his furnace was a mathematics graduate, and, more recently, a TSA airport inspector (whose job it was to ensure that we took our shoes off while going through security) was a recent college graduate."

Snuffing Out Children's Innocence

This column by ACRU Senior Fellow Robert Knight was published September 9, 2011 on The Washington Times website.

If you were the devil, what would be your most important mission, other than inventing false religions? It would be to corrupt innocent children.

I'd start by kicking God out of the public schools and excising from textbooks the truth about America's deeply Christian heritage. I'd get rid of glaringly obvious ties between Christianity and the Founders' vision of unalienable rights and limited government. Children would be indoctrinated to think of themselves as cosmic accidents of random mutation and survival of the fittest, not precious beings with eternal souls created in the image of God. The result would be an effectively atheistic system of moral relativism.

Next, I'd cloak sexual promiscuity in terms of self-fulfillment, mix it up with junk science and lobby the teachers unions to openly promote the Kinsey sex education model of children as "sexual beings" whose "orientation" has no moral relevance.

Finally, I'd expose the kids to outright propaganda through clever websites designed to promote deviance and to brand anyone with any qualms, such as parents, as hate-filled bigots and bullies.

Capital Prayer Alert

As you know, my wife, Carol, prepares a prayer alert about once a month. I hope you will share Carol's thoughts with your friends and fellow worshippers. Thank you for taking an interest in her monthly devotion. -- Gary

The end of summer is upon us. A new school year begins. The nation marks the 10th Anniversary of the attack on our country and our beliefs. The calendar turns to fall, and there is a sense of getting down to the business at hand.

Maybe you are like me -- an observer of people. When you are in line at a public place or waiting to meet someone, you read people. You read the faces of people and try to figure out their circumstances from their demeanor, dress and attitude. It is an incomplete picture to know the unemployment figures or numbers of home foreclosures without understanding the human side of the equation. It is out there for any of us to find.

You can see the stress on the face of a mother unable to buy everything on her child's back to school supply list. You can feel the loss of self-esteem as you watch a middle-aged professional man take on the job of a cashier in a grocery store chain or fast food restaurant. You can hear the anxiety in the voices of young parents who question the nation's future path and worry about the worth of their biggest investment... their home. And then you talk to recent college graduates. Many of them have taken jobs just to have an income and don't see a long-term career path with opportunities for advancement in their future.

Into the mix you can throw those who are dependent on Social Security and their worries about the impact of changes in the current system. Even if you are not drawn to read the human side of an unsettled nation, the statistics tell the same story.

The nation's headlines do not paint a pretty picture:

  • August unemployment rate -- 9.1%. Flat job growth for five months. Fourteen million unemployed. 8.4 Million working part-time but able and willing to work full time.
  • A 33% drop in housing values since 2006. More than one million foreclosures since the end of 2008. More than one in four households owe more on their home than the property is worth.
  • Recent polling shows nearly nine in ten adults say they are about the same or worse off than they were just a few years ago. The vast majority feels the country is headed in the wrong direction. Parents no longer feel their children will be better off than they are.

The mix of a gloomy economy, high stakes political dynamics and a long list of natural phenomena -- from Hurricane Irene to the East Coast earthquake to severe flooding and evacuations to the devastating Texas wildfires -- it can all be daunting, anxiety producing and stressful to even the most optimistic.

Imagine the helplessness felt by those among us who do not have a strong faith on which to lean. If you are reading this Prayer Alert you most likely are a man or woman of faith who also happens to be politically savvy. Your well-honed faith is complemented by a desire to stay abreast of conservative politics. These attributes make you someone others look to for insights at the intersection of faith and politics.

With our country at a crossroads, a major election just a little over a year away and more than enough economic and political concerns, we are called on to pray. May I ask you to pray for our beloved country, its leaders and those who are seeking to lead it in the days ahead? And, pray for the individuals in our midst who need to feel that better days are ahead.

Ask God to make Himself a very present help to those who feel they are just barely hanging on. Pray that they would feel the presence and the comfort of our Heavenly Father who has promised never to leave us or forsake us. Ask God to provide reasons for them to be hopeful in the days ahead as they see His hand at work in their lives.

May we as a people humble ourselves and pray to a loving God who has been present with us throughout our history. Give us the words to acknowledge without embarrassment our dependence on Him. May we seek His guidance in both our personal lives and in the decisions ahead in the life of our country.

As we look to the future, pray that His hand would not be lifted from this nation as we as individuals and a society are reminded over and over again of our individual shortcomings but corporate desire to be a force for good in the world. Pray that we who are stronger in our faith would look for ways to live out that faith in word and deed as we seek to make a difference in the lives of those around us.

Finally, pray that our leaders would have the wisdom to make the best decisions for our country both in the short term and long term so that our children and grandchildren can grow up in a country still blessed with opportunities to make a difference.

Get Out of Jail Free

Photo: Flickr/Mark Strozier

You would think a "Get Out of Jail Free" card comes only from board games. Not so.

When the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Program was started in the 1960s, it was a pretrial release service for a relatively few amount of indigents who truly did not have the means to post bail.

However, the program has gone beyond helping indigent defendants. Today, defendants are released on their own recognizance without offering anything of value to ensure that they return to their court dates. For fiscal year 2012, the House Appropriations Committee recommended taxpayers spend $357 million on this program.

In a new analysis, The Heritage Foundation's David Muhlhausen explains that

The Democrats' "chickens have come home to roost"

Sep 14, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins

 By Kevin "Coach" Collins

Let us all salute Bob Turner an American patriot who stood up to all the Democrats could throw at him and won!

Last night the national Democrats got a look at the 'ghost of Election Night future' as their noses were rubbed in the dirt Barack Obama has dropped all over their party. Their "chickens came home to roost."

No matter how their stooges in the media try to spin it, Republican Bob Turner's stunning upset victory over Democrat David Weprin in a 75/25 Democrat district is an ominous sign of major trouble for Barack Obama and the hundreds if not thousands of down ballot victims he will drag to defeat next year.

The edge softening language in last week's reports trying to explain away Weprin's bad polls numbers means nothing now. The fact is the Democrats just lost a seat they had held since 1923. Turner's victory is in "Scott Brown" proportions. ... Continue Reading:The Democrats' "chickens have come home to roost"

 National Association For Gun Rights

I've been dealing with politicians at all levels of government for more than two decades, and let me tell you, the gun-grabbers always tend to "flock together."

Just this morning I heard that former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is now backing the former gun-grabbing Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney.

By "former," I mean Governor, not a "former" gun-grabber.

I'll list Governor Romney's record down below.

But really, this isn't a surprise to me.

Before he dropped out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, Tim Pawlenty stonewalled gun owners in Iowa, and nationally, by refusing to return his National Association for Gun Rights' Presidential Survey.

You may remember NAGR's Director of Operations, Luke O'Dell, approaching Governor Pawlenty in Iowa demanding to know why he was stonewalling gun owners on issues like:

*** The UN "Small Arms Treaty";

*** The unconstitutional Brady gun owner registration scheme;

*** Banning of certain types of firearms;

*** Greatly curtailing or even eliminating the ATF.

Is that too much to ask for? I don't think so.

Gun owners deserve to know.

And I won't be intimidated by "Establishment" Republican-types scoffing at the Second Amendment, telling grassroots gun rights activists like you and me to sit on the sidelines this election.

Mitt Romney's record on the Second Amendment is more than concerning to me.

It's dangerous.

Banning firearms. Supporting the unconstitutional Brady gun owner registration scheme. Refusing to return NAGR's Presidential Survey.

Gun rights activists like you and me don't have to put up with Republican nominees who can't even say where they stand on important Second Amendment issues.

Please get in touch with the Romney campaign. I have provided you with a link down below.

Let Governor Romney know that you are aware of his horrible Second Amendment record, and you will not stand for it.

Take action at once.

   For Freedom,

   Dudley Brown
   Executive Director

P.S. Please consider chipping in $15 or $20 to help the National Association for Gun Rights hold accountable the Republican presidential candidates.

The assault on our gun rights has never been this intense. You are needed in this fight.

Get in touch with the Romney campaign. Make sure they know that you are not happy with his stance on the Second Amendment. Send your email right now.

GOP wins in race to replace Weiner

Wasserman-Schultz claims NY-9 is a tough district

Democrats suffered a setback Tuesday in a congressional election in New York City, where a district they have held for nearly a century elected a Republican who framed his candidacy as a rebuke to President Barack Obama.

The GOP candidate, Bob Turner, was declared the winner Tuesday night over Democrat David Weprin in an out-of-season contest to succeed Rep. Anthony Weiner, who resigned following a scandal over sexually charged messages he sent to women he met online.

Obama -- the most happy fella

JOAN SWIRSKY, RA ANALYST - Over the past almost-three years, I've had to laugh -- in contempt -- when the so-called intelligentsia have shaken their collective heads in bewilderment and seeming incomprehension as they've watched Obama and his essentially Communist regime plunge our nation into: (1) A disastrous economy... Pennsylvania judge strikes Obamacare insurance mandate

BLOOMBERG NEWS - The insurance-buying mandate in President Barack Obama's health-care reform legislation is unconstitutional, a federal judge in Pennsylvania ruled. U.S. District Judge Christopher C. Conner in Harrisburg today said Congress exceeded its powers under the federal constitution when it included in the act Obama signed into law last year a provision requiring almost all Americans to have medical insurance starting in 2014... You can't tax the rich

THOMAS SOWELL - Ninety years ago -- in 1921 -- federal income-tax policies reached an absurdity that many people today seem to want to repeat. Those who believe in high taxes on "the rich" got their way. The tax rate on people in the top income bracket was 73 percent in 1921. On the other hand, the rich also got their way: They didn't actually pay those taxes... (more)

SAVING MEDICARE

Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.

It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]

Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]

The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]

This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.

Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.

If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].

This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.

The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.

The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell

Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]

On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.

The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]

The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points

It is important that we

Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later

The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.

Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.

By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will

  • maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
  • provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.

It is important that we...

Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older

This bears repeating:

  • Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
  • If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
  • And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.

It is important that we...

Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees

Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.

It is important that we...

Maintain affordability

Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.

It is important that we...

Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare

Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.

It is important that we...

Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels

The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

White House under investigation?

Politically connected solar energy company Solyndra recently went bankrupt - even though it received over half a million in taxpayer dollars! Now, the White House is facing calls for an investigation into why they would bet big on the company when even their own advisors were warning it may not be the best move. At least they can't say they inherited it from the Bush Administration, who REJECTED it because it was a risky investment and the company would be out of cash in September 2011. Hey...what month is it? Get more HERE!

#AttackWatch

Glenn has been listed as one of the primary targets of President Obama's "AttackWatch" - a new website fighting "misinformation" and "smears". Apparently, the "irrelevant" Mr. Beck poses a big threat as do GOP frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney and they must be stopped! Unfortunately, the website has already become a mockery on the internet as people are fighting against the 1984-ish efforts to get people to spy on each other. Want to report a "smear" on Twitter? Use the #AttackWatch hashtag. For example: "Hey #attackwatch, I saw 6 ATM's in an alley, killing a Job. It looked like a hate crime!" Get the WHOLE story HERE!

Progressivism or Protection?

The new AttackWatch program sparked a debate on radio today when Pat compared it to Bush's efforts to report suspicious activity after 9/11. Is there a difference between reporting suspected terrorism and political opponents? Stu and Glenn fell on very different sides on this issue and it led to a spirited disagreement over individual rights, terrorism, and vaccinations. Watch the discussion HERE!
