"We should never despair, our situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new exertions and proportion our efforts to the exigency of the times."

NY-09 Goes Republican For the First Time Since 1922

NY-09 last saw Republicans hold it in 1922. The seat, last held by Anthony Weiner, flipped back to the GOP tonight in a stunning rebuke to Barack Obama.
In every special election in New York for the past few years, even in 2009/2010, the Democrats pointed their finger at each one and declare it spelled disaster for the GOP. Today, the Democrats will declare NY-09 has no bearing on anything under the sun.
Except, in NY-09 the Democrats attacked the Republican, Congressman-Elect Turner, on the Paul Ryan plan. They attacked him on social security and medicare. All things the Democrats did in the last New York congressional special election they did again this time. And they lost. They lost a district that went for Obama, Kerry, and Gore. They lost a district that has had a Democrat representing it for almost 90 years.
Obama lost New York Jewish voters. He lost them because of three things.

November 6th is National Remembrance Day for those killed by illegal aliens
Dave Gibson
,
With the holiday season fast approaching, Americans will be making plans to spend time with family and friends. Unfortunately, for many of us, this holiday season will simply serve as a painful reminder of those who are no longer with us.
These Americans did not perish in a foreign war, though they did die violently. You see, they were killed by illegal aliens. You might say...they died in a different kind of war.
For far too long, we have sat by and watched as our fellow citizens die every year at the hands of illegal aliens, while our elected officials simply ignore the ever-growing crisis.
The federal government does not keep comprehensive statistics on the number of crimes committed in this country by illegal aliens. Taking a look at the results of a few independent studies, it is not surprising that they don't.
In 2006, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) released the results of a study which found that 4,380 Americans are murdered every year by illegal aliens. The study also concluded that 4,745 Americans are killed every year by illegal aliens driving drunk.

Help us man our table at the Gun Show, Valley Forge Convention Center
September 16, 17 and 18
Next weekend,we need two hours or so of your time. Our table at the gun show will display literature about our Tea Party. Best of all, it gives us the rare opportunity to have face-to-face chats with members of the public. We expect that gun show attendees are a promising audience for our message, and hopefully we can recruit new members.
You need not know anything about guns to help man our table, although a few of us can give you some instruction if you desire.
Please respond to this email now, with your willingness to help, and include which day (or days) are OK for you. We'll announce the times in a couple of days. Let me know now so we can make up our manning roster for the table.

Friends,
Thanks to my NYC buddies for this information. The radical, Jew/America/Freedom hating groups listed below will be marching for tyranny on September 15th, in NYC for Palestinian rights. If you check out the list, you'll note the inclusion of three that stand out:
CODE PINK,
INTERNATIONAL SOCIALIST ORGANIZATION AND PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA.
You are aware that CODE PINK's founder and leader, Jodie Evans, is a close friend and financial supporter of President Obama and a well known White House visitor and insider. Her partner, Medea Benjamin is also linked to the White House.
THE PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA, another anti-Israel marching group, according to their website, contains such members in good standing as House members: Donna Edwards, Raul Grijalva, Maxine Waters, Lynn Woolsey, Jim McGovern, Dennis Kucinich, John Conyers and Barbara Lee. All of whom are Democrat House members. Do you think Cong. Debbie Schultz will walk with them in support of Palestine?
THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIALIST ORGANIZATION also has links on its site to such groups as:Planned Parenthood, Greepeace, AFL/CIO, Center for Constitutional Rights, Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), NOW, NARAL and MichaelMoore.com. What a conglomeration of groups!!
So, the marchers for Palestinian rights and the destruction of Israel get the support of the above named individuals and the listed groups. If you research the other organizations involved, you'll dig up more slime among them. Do not forget who they are!

New Yorkers in solidarity with Palestinians worldwide
Palestinians Tell the World: Sovereignty Means Securing
ALL Our Rights!
Palestinians and their supporters everywhere are mobilizing to remind the world of their right to self-determination. In New York we are marching to the United Nations because the world's attention is focused on the vote on Palestine scheduled to take place there.
For over six decades, the U.N. has approved numerous resolutions promising Palestinians their basic rights, none of which has been implemented. We come to the U.N. to demand:
Sovereignty, Equality, and the Right of Return for Palestinians NOW!

An amendment clarifying the intent of the general welfare phrase in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution of the United States is both the simplest amendment and the amendment with the greatest potential for bringing sanity back to federal government while restoring the Republic.

Subject: ATTENTION ALL PENNSYLVANIA VOTERS: Oppose Strong Arm GOP Tactics
STATE GOP MEETING, HARRISBURG, SATURDAY, SEPT. 17, 9:30 am
Pennsylvanians need to communicate to the PA State Republican Party, aka State
Committee, that nothing less than a return to Republican Party principles will be
tolerated by the PA Republican electorate.
The PA GOP leadership continues with their establishment politics of endorsing
candidates in primaries to protect their status quo and will continue to deny the
Republican voters of Pennsylvania their RIGHT to choose the leaders that they
want to represent them.
It is time to show PA GOP leadership that the voting Republicans CAN
UNDERSTAND, DO UNDERSTAND, and WILL NOT STAND for
leadership making the voting decisions in the State of Pennsylvania and
taking away the voice of the voters.
We are asking constituents from every county in Pennsylvania to attend the General
Republican Meeting on*** Saturday September 17th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at
the Harrisburg Hilton, 1 North Second Street, Harrisburg, PA, and personally
experience the disdain that PA GOP leadership has for their fellow Republicans.
Please understand, the"leadership" is not elected.
Please join with fellow Republican voters in unity to make a stand against the strong-arm tactics of the Pennsylvania GOP leadership.

Judical Watch is Demanding Answers Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:
 | "The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2 |
But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.
We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action? True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step. For more information email info@truethevote.org or go HERE to sign up now! |

DAY OF RAGE PLANNED FOR D.C., STATE CAPITOLS and WALL STREET SEPT 17, 2011
This information came out of Idaho, but this is being staged across the entire 50 states! We need to be aware and let others know, especially those that live in the capitals, or have businesses there. If you've seen the riots taking place in Greece, or those in the Middle East, you see a sample of what it looks like they are planning. Let's hope that either few show up, that they stay peaceful, or that the law enforcement agencies are able to thwart it before it occurs....

Please come to our Constitution Day event entitled "Everything you wanted to know about ObamaCare, but didn't know who to ask."
They said we had to pass it to know what's in it, but over a year later, people STILL don't fully understand how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) - aka "ObamaCare" - will affect them and their health.
That's why a coalition of citizens and health care professionals will present "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About ObamaCare But Didn't Know Who to Ask" on the campus of DeSales University in Center Valley, PA from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 - which, ironically, happens to be Constitution Day. DeSalesUniversity is located in the Lehigh Valley of PA, within easy driving distance of the major population centers of central, northeast, and southeast PA.
Policy professionals, physicians, business and legislative leaders, and representatives from groups most affected by the PPACA will share their insights and expertise through presentations, breakout sessions, exhibits, and panel discussions.
They'll explain how ObamaCare affects personal liberty and the Constitution, families and seniors, taxpayers, Medicare and the deficit, insurance premiums and the uninsured, businesses, employees and the economy, doctors, patients, and access to care, American innovation in medicine, and more.
Also included will be detailed updates on state and national efforts to defund, repeal, replace, and nullify ObamaCare from some of the legislative leaders spearheading those efforts.
Participants will leave the three hour event far more informed about what's in the PPACA than most of the legislators who voted for it, and will be energized to get involved in the fight to save America's health care. Participants, both live and online, will be empowered by their new understanding of how the PPACA will not accomplish any of the things its name implies, and will be able to effectively communicate that new understanding to others, providing important education about why this ill-conceived piece of legislation needs to be defeated by any means possible.
Already, according to Rasmussen's most recent poll, 54% of Americans want to see ObamaCare repealed, while only 39% oppose repeal - but the people who passed it clearly have not heard the voices of the American people yet. The more Americans know about the PPACA, the more they dislike it, and this conference will help to provide the tools citizen advocates and health care professionals need to effectively participate in the process to defund, repeal, and replace ObamaCare.
The event will be free to the public on site in a venue which will seat 500, and a live streaming video, and a professionally produced program will promote information about our coalition's sponsoring groups, as well as providing important information about the PPACA.
Please consider joining with the Lehigh Valley Coalition for Health Care Reform to help educate the public about ObamaCare through your sponsorship of this important event. If you'd like to be involved, please contact me ASAP and I'll reserve your space in our program and on the promotional materials. We are currently working on creating a web page and Facebook page for the event.
For additional information about this event and opportunities to get involved, please contact Donna Baver Rovito at ROVSPA@aol.com.

Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked.
So here it is. A one page, quick description of Agenda 21 that fits on one page. I've also included for the back side of your hand out a list of quotes for the perpetrators of Agenda 21 that should back up my brief descriptions.
A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. Research, know your details; discover the NGO players in your community; identify who is victimized by the policies and recruit them to your fight; and then kill Agenda 21. That's how it must be done. The information below is only your first step. Happy hunting.
What is Sustainable Development?

2012 Presidential Candidate Selector or Obama, His Allies & Critics Matching Quiz
Politicians have already indicated their 2012 presidential aspirations. This matching quiz includes President Obama, top members of his administration, Obama's most vocal critics (Boehner, Cantor, etc.) and likely White House prospects (Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal, etc.). You may select a position for every issue, or just select issues important to you. The political figures' positions are based upon their voting records, special interest group ratings and their statements in the public record. In cases where there is no known public record or statement, these politicos are not given a score on that issue. We add candidates, revise their views and include new issues as they become known or change. Check back often for updates.

RedState Morning Briefing
For September 14, 2011
1. Solyndra, Barack Obama, and Crony Capitalism: Picking a Loser to be a Winner
The Operation Gun Walker scandal has not yet percolated in the mainstream media outside CBS News, though it is only a matter of time that it catches on, given the cirminal enterprise the U.S. Government seems complicit in aiding and abetting.
There is, however, a scandal taking off like a rocket and directly relevant to Stimulus II. Via Doug Ross comes word that ABC News has uncovered the makings of a very real and potentially damaging scandal for Barack Obama.
2. Bachmann Stayed Quiet on Mandatory Vaccinations While Serving Minnesota
What's worse than a mandatory vaccination that never actually came to law and, even if it had, contained an opt-out? According to Michele Bachmann, nothing. In fact, if you listen to Michele Bachmann these days, you'd think Governor Perry was strapping 12 year old children to tables to inject them when he takes breaks from using the other needle on inmates.
Bachmann is making the case that opposing vaccinations required by the state is fundamentally a conservative issue, which is news to many conservatives given that mandatory vaccinations have been around as long as they have, and, to my knowledge, we haven't made it a big part of the Republican platform to oppose them. But if you listened to Bachmann last night, it's clear that she believes this is the type of issue on which a presidential candidate must stand, must do the right thing, and cannot waver in putting this forth as a conservative principle lest we risk infecting millions of children with mental retardation.
Has this always been an enormous part of this warrior's soul? Apparently not.
Please click here for the rest of the post.
3. No Girls Were Harmed During the Production of This Executive Order
From Ben Domenech's most excellent Transom comes this, backing up what I think ends this as an issue for Perry:
"The attacks on Perry's HPV vaccine actions five years ago have now taken up roughly 15 minutes in both the MSNBC debate and the CNN debate. Perry's message on this has been straightforward: that he made a mistake on the way he did the approach, that he'd approach it differently if he could do it over again, and that he listened to opponents and took his chiding from the legislature. He's defensive about the fact that he did add a parental opt-out (Santorum's assertion that all vaccines should be opt-in indicates that he has zero understanding of herd immunity), but that's the rule for all of Texas.
"But here's the real reason this is a silly debate: the policy never went into effect. Not one girl was vaccinated under the policy. Not one shot was given. Demanding apologies from Perry for a policy that never went into effect gets tiresome after a while - particularly when Mitt Romney has never apologized for his namesake health care reforms, in effect in Massachusetts still today."
Now, you can still say that Perry shouldn't have done it, but the attacks diminish when, in fact, no one was affected by a policy then undone - compare that to Romneycare.
4. House Republicans Ram Highway Bill Through Without a Roll Call Vote
House Republican Leaders seem absolutely hell bent on violating their own budget. First they announce that the legislation or the "continuing resolution" to extend discretionary funding for the next fiscal year will exceed the House-passed, Paul Ryan budget resolution by $24 billion and line up instead with the sacred debt limit agreement.
Then we find out that a separate bill (H.R. 2887) to extend the federal highway and aviation programs for six months was rushed through the House this afternoon without even a recorded vote. The problem with this legislation was that it extends a broad set of transportation programs that the nation can no longer afford and which are in dire need of reform. It was a missed opportunity, and at the very least, the bill should have extended the programs at the level provided for in the Paul Ryan budget. Ryan's budget-which almost every Republican Member voted for-included $27 billion for highways programs, about $15 billion less than was provided in FY 2011. In addition, H.R. 2887 lacked a formal cost estimate from the Congressional Budget Office, so its impossible to nail down the numbers for sure. Bills without cost estimates shouldn't see the light of day in committee, let alone the floor of the House of Representatives.
5. Pennsylvania considering Electoral College split
Governor Tom Corbett and Pennsylvania Republicans are considering legislation to change the allocation of Pennsylvania's Presidential electors. Instead of awarding all 20 on a winner take all basis, the plan by Senate leader Dominic Pileggi would switch to the Congressional district model currently in use by Nebraska and Maine.
In Nebraska and Maine, the statewide popular vote for President only determines two Presidential electors, the two representing the states' Senators. The remaining votes are allocated according to the popular vote in each House district. Nebraska's second district breaking for Obama in 2008 did not shape the election, but if Pennsylvania follows this model, then the 2012 Electoral College scenarios change significantly. Here's how.
6. Why Are Obama & Union Bosses Working to Destroy Companies & Jobs?
The question needs to be asked: Is it ignorance or malice? There was a time after the subprime mortgage meltdown when, if sound decisions on policy and financial initiatives had occurred, the American economy may not have been hobbled as badly, its credit rating might not have been downgraded, the recession might have been curtailed and so many Americans might not have been so negatively affected. However, rather than helping a recovery by letting the quasi-free market adjust, contract and expand again, at almost every turn, Barack Obama and the union appointees and crony capitalists within his administration are, whether out of malice or ignorance, seemingly doing everything they can to destroy an already fragile economy. It's really no longer a question of "if," but "why."

Videos: Obama Lied About Troops on the Ground in Libya By Ben Johnson, The White House Watch
|
This author observed, "If the media wanted to conserve resources, they could simply fuse the words 'The Obama administration lied' to the opening line of each day's edition and fill in the blank appropriately." Today proved no exception. Despite President Barack Obama's assurances that no ground troops would ever be sent to Libya, the Pentagon confirmed Monday that U.S. soldiers are on the ground. Four servicemen landed in Tripoli over the weekend. The newly elected commander of the....

Obama's selection of Alan Krueger to head the Council of Economic Advisers might be an upgrade from Austan Goolsbee, but not by much. Obama's Solar Power at Yosemite Natl Park Will Pay for Itself -- in 2088 By Kevin "Coach" Collins, FloydReports.com
|
Yosemite National Park has installed the largest solar energy system in the whole United States National Park System. The system will provide 672 kilowatts, which is 12 percent of the park's yearly electric power requirements. The system installed by Suntek (doesn't that name make you just want to hug a tree?) consists of 2,800 solar panels "tastefully" integrated into the existing architecture of Yosmite's administrative and maintenance compound. A 500 kilowatt solar canopy covers the parking lot. A 100 kW rooftop section serves as a collection system on top of the warehouse, and an additional 72 kWs wrap the building's outer walls. Before you jump up and shout "Holy renewable energy!" consider the dark side of this "money and energy saving green policy"....

Why the Rush to "Pass This Bill"? By Susan Stamper Brown, FloydReports.com
|
As the Democratic National Committee (DNC) launches an ad campaign in battleground states to promote rapid passage of President Barack Obama's "American Jobs Act," I cannot help but to ask, "Why the rush, Mr. President?" While proposed payroll tax cuts would be useful to hard-working coupon-clipping Americans, common sense suggests that something is wrong if, during a Joint Session of Congress, the president demands 14 different times to "pass this bill now." My father taught me well; high-pressure sales pitches never end well for the consumer. Another wise father, Lord Chesterfield, also taught his child well in 1749, when he said, "Whoever is in a hurry shows that the thing he is about to do is too big for him." Considering the abject failure of the administration's previous mammoth-sized stimulus "jobs" bill....

Congress Should Inquire into Obama's Impeachment By Tom Tancredo, WND.com

Barack Obama is indeed succeeding in his plans to "transform America," but not in the way voters expected on Election Day in 2008. The number of the president's actions that arguably qualify as impeachable offenses is staggering. The question before the country is what to do about it. True, Obama faces the voters in 14 months, and that will be seen by many as a reason to avoid the turmoil of an impeachment proceeding. But one process has nothing to do with the other. Elections proceed on an established calendar, but if he has committed acts that warrant removal by way of impeachment, that process should proceed independent of the election calendar. While impeachment must never be used to override an election victory, neither should the prospects of electoral defeat be used as an argument to avoid impeachment....

The Death of Great Men
Historians have long debated the role that any one individual can play in changing the course of history. Some support the "great man theory" - the idea that one man of great vision and talent can pull his nation out of its natural orbit and set it on a new and very different course. Others argue that culture is destiny. Yes, a leader can step forward and make a bold gesture. But unless he brings his people along with him, the culture will ultimately wipe out that leader's initiatives as certainly as the ocean envelopes and erases a sand castle.
Tragically, news from the Middle East this month has done much to debunk the great man theory. We are witnessing the death of the legacies of two great men. And in the process, Israel finds itself thrust backwards in time to a more dangerous era. For Israel, September has been a most cruel month. And it's not even half-way over.
Egypt's former President, Anwar Sadat, is often cited as an example of the great man theory in action. Back in 1977, Sadat decided to end Egypt's state of war with Israel. In a gesture of history-changing proportions, he boarded a plane, flew to Jerusalem, and proposed peace directly to Israel's Parliament. When Egypt and Israel signed the Camp David Accords in 1979, Egypt went from Israel's most threatening enemy to its first Arab friend. And while the peace that emerged was far colder than the Israelis had hoped, it was still peace. Until recent weeks, Israel's border with Egypt had been a perfectly quiet one.
But while Sadat and his successor, Hosni Mubarak, changed history, they never changed Egypt's underlying culture. While they made and maintained the cold peace, they allowed their media and schools to continue to teach hatred of Israel and Jews. And now this culture is devouring their legacy. The culture - in the form of a Jihadist assassin -- killed Sadat. And now the culture - in the form of a violent mob -- has destroyed the greatest physical manifestation of Sadat's peace: Israel's Embassy in Cairo. America's universities are the frontline in the ideological war on Israel and the right of the Jewish people to a home of their own. Our future presidents, members of Congress, pastors, and opinion leaders are sitting in college classrooms across the country right now. To ensure that our next generation of leaders stands with Israel we need to act now. We need to reach these students with the facts before the anti-Israel camp fills their minds with hate. If you haven't spent time on a college campus recently, you would be shocked by how bad the situation has become. On campuses across the country, anti-Israel students hold "Israel Apartheid Week" in which they claim that Israel is an outlaw state much like apartheid South Africa. Students even set up mock checkpoints to share with their fellow students the "horrors" of living under Israeli occupation.
But this year, thousands of Christian students have raised their voices with a different message, and have begun the daunting task of adding a pro-Israel voice to the conversation about Israel on their campuses.
Watch this powerful video detailing anti-Israel activities on campuses and CUFI on Campus students standing up and speaking up for Israel.
You can impact our future leaders. You can take action today that will make a positive difference tomorrow. Your investment today will produce a priceless return! We ask you to prayerfully consider a donation to CUFI on Campus to help us raise up the next generation of pro-Israel leaders.

A Muslim speaks out against the deceptive accusations of "Islamophobia" One week ago we emailed you to report that the American Islamic Leadership Coalition had announced its support for legislation in Michigan similar to bills we've gotten passed in Tennessee and Arizona. Today we share with you the commentary below that ran in FrontPageMagazine (highlights added), by a Muslim, who is critical of the constant drumbeat of "Islamophobia" coming from people like John Esposito. Slowly but surely, an increasing number of Muslims are speaking out against sharia law, jihad, and the unification of mosque and state. It is not just non-Muslims who are ringing the alarm bells about this threat to America. The tide is indeed turning.

John Esposito's Deceptions on 'Islamophobia'
Posted by Hasan Mahmud on Aug 22nd, 2011
In most cases, a patient won't even realize, let alone resist, when a doctor betrays him.
I am a Muslim. I believe that accepting our (Muslims') share in creating "Islamophobia" in the West will help eliminate it. Dr. John Esposito's recent article in the Huffington Post, "Islamophobia: A threat to American Values?" puts the entire blame on Western "media commentators, hard-line Christian Zionists and politicians." He even neglects to mention the huge contribution Muslim societies have had on the issue. Esposito ignores that in our global village the West is regularly flooded by violence coming from Muslim societies; violence which is perpetrated in the name of Islam while citing Quranic verses and the Prophet's examples. The list is long. Here are some examples:

Congressman Promotes Fear Inc. 'Islamophobia' Event
Posted by Ryan Mauro on Sep 12th, 2011
Rep. Ellison and the authors of "Fear Inc." are outraged that anyone would suggest that Islamic terrorists are motivated by an ideology with a theological basis. Osama Bin Laden's own teachings confirm that he was ideologically-motivated. In "The Al-Qaeda Reader" by Raymond Ibrahim, Bin Laden says:
In fact, Muslims are obligated to raid the lands of the infidels, occupy them, and exchange their systems of governance for an Islamic system, barring any practice that contradicts the Sharia from being publicly voiced among the people, as was the case at the dawn of Islam...They say that our Sharia does not impose our particular beliefs upon others; this is a false assertion. For it is, in fact, part of our religion to impose our particular beliefs upon others.
The Muslim Brotherhood, likewise, says its "work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."

New al Qaeda leader releases message to mark 9/11
By the CNN Wire Staff
September 13, 2011
An image grab of Ayman al-Zawahiri taken from a video broadcast on Al Jazeera television in 2006.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
- Ayman al-Zawahiri, the new al Qaeda leader, praises the Arab Spring in an audio address
- A video message from Osama bin Laden, recorded before his death, is also included
- The video is apparently one that was released by U.S. officials without audio in May
- It was seized from bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan
(CNN) -- Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has apparently released a new message to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, in which he praises the Arab Spring as a "devastating blow" to the United States.
The hour-long video, posted Monday on websites run by supporters of the terror network, includes an audio broadcast purportedly from al-Zawahiri and a video message from Osama bin Laden, recorded before his death in May.
Al-Zawahiri's speech lauds the Arab Spring as having "liberated thousands of the members of the Islamic movement's prisoners, who were imprisoned by direct orders from America."
The uprising in a number of Arab nations, including Egypt, Tunisia and Libya, has also "liberated the Arab people from handcuffs of fear and terror," the message says.

When Obama set off to visit the victims of Hurricane Irene, instead of visiting the American victims who had lost their homes and possessions-- he headed off to Paterson, New Jersey. Paterson is known as 'Paterstine' for a reason, it's home to the second largest Arab community after Dearborn, and while most of its residents are not yet Muslims, concentrating his visit there sends a message. And it's the same message that has been sent over and over again. Muslims come first. Obama's decision to shut down the space program by terminating the shuttle and its replacement vehicle, combined with the loss of the Russian space freighter, means that the International Space Station may have to be abandoned. But as Obama's new NASA administrator Charles Bolden said, the new priority is Muslim outreach. We may not have a space program anymore, but NASA has partnered with Saudi Arabia on "lunar and asteroid science research". The good news is that the Saudis can afford to buy us a new shuttle, so long as we don't let any women drive it. And did you know that the National Park Service has an Office of International Affairs? Why does it need an office of international affairs? So it can fund mosques globally through UNESCO. The Obama Administration has eliminated the Park Service's 'Save America's Treasures" program, but there's always money for Islam. While the old outdated jingoistic NPS was concerned with the United States, the new NPS gives money to the Medina of Tunis, an adjacent Islamic school and a Muslim pilgrimage site in Turkmenistan. It doesn't matter anymore if it's flood victims, outer space or national parks-- it's all about Muslims.

Dems' fate in NY special sparks '12 fears
Bellwether?
A looming Democratic loss in New York's special election Tuesday would be seen as a sign of big political and policy problems for President Obama and his party heading into next year's election.
Democrats have held former Rep. Anthony Weiner's (D-N.Y.) district since it was created, but two polls conducted in the past week show Republican candidate Bob Turner has a strong chance of capturing the seat.

White House already spinning feared New York loss
Bellwether?
The White House is girding for a political loss in the heart of New York on Tuesday. They're also spinning up an explanation that won't entirely result in the blame landing on the low popularity of the president. As in Massachusetts, where Democratic Senate candidate Martha Coakley was faulted by the White House and many others for tone-deaf campaigning, Democratic candidate Dave Weprin may see the undercarriage of that new White House campaign bus.
Democratic officials and President Obama's advisers expect Weprin to lose the election to upstart Republican Bob Turner in the contest to fill the 9th District seat vacated by Democrat Anthony Weiner.

Labor Dept.: Only 1.75 full-time private sector workers per Social Security recipients
Ponzi scheme?
There were only 1.75 full-time private-sector workers in the United States last year for each person receiving benefits from Social Security, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Social Security board of trustees.
That means that for each husband and wife who worked full-time in the private sector last year there was a Social Security recipient somewhere in the country taking benefits from the federal government.

Obama plans to end tax breaks to pay for jobs program
$200K a year makes you "rich" now
President Barack Obama on Monday proposed paying for his jobs plan by eliminating $467 billion in tax breaks for wealthier Americans and corporations, meeting immediate resistance from Republicans in Congress.
The White House objective is to put lawmakers in a tight spot: Support Obama's jobs package or risk being portrayed as doing nothing to improve the economy heading into presidential and congressional elections in November 2012.

GOP balks at taxes to finance jobs plan
No way on tax hike
The prospects for President Barack Obama's $447 billion jobs plan grew dimmer Monday as he unveiled the fine print of how it would be paid for-primarily through tax increases that Republicans said would destroy jobs, not create them.
Mr. Obama proposed limiting itemized deductions for families with taxable income of $250,000 or more a year, ending tax breaks for oil companies and corporate jet owners, and cutting out a tax break for investment-fund managers. The White House says the tax changes would take effect in 2013 and estimates they would raise $467 billion in additional revenue over 10 years.

Census: US poverty rate swells to nearly 1 in 6
Hope & change?
The ranks of America's poor swelled to almost 1 in 6 people last year, reaching a new high as long-term unemployment left millions of Americans struggling and out of work. The number of uninsured edged up to 49.9 million, the biggest in more than two decades.
The Census Bureau's annual report released Tuesday offers a snapshot of the economic well-being of U.S. households for 2010, when joblessness hovered above 9 percent for a second year. It comes at a politically sensitive time for President Barack Obama, who has acknowledged in the midst of a re-election fight that the unemployment rate could persist at high levels through next year.

House bill would block case against Boeing
Congress pulls back the bit on Boeing
House Republicans, angry over the government's labor dispute with Boeing Co., are taking up a bill that would prohibit the National Labor Relations Board from ordering any company to close plants or relocate workers, even if a company flouts labor laws.
The measure would undercut a high-profile lawsuit filed in April that accuses Boeing of violating labor laws by opening a new production line for its 787 airplane in right-to-work South Carolina. The board says Boeing is punishing unionized Washington state workers for past strikes.

Dear Pennsylvania TEA Party Organization,
The attached petition is an entreaty to the State Legislature and the Governor to pass and sign into law, the PA Freedom of Choice in Healthcare Act. This is House Bill 42, and it is from legislation already passed in six other states to nullify the individual mandate of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka, ObamaCare. It is accompanied by a supporting memorandum that t have drafted, in which I explain the importance of enacting this legislation and providing its constitutional justification.
Our plan is to submit this to every Pennsylvania Grassroots group and ask that they present it to their groups for a vote of their membership. It is up to each Grassroots
group/organization as to how they want to conduct the vote on approving the Petition. Upon approval. we would ask each Grassroots group to send the signed petitions to Stroudsburg's Founders T.E.A. Party Patriots. Once we receive a sufficient number of signed petitions_ we would like to send a team of people directly to Harrisburg to lobby individual members of
the General Assembly and the Governor to get this passed into law. This is a grassroots initiative.
We would invite all of you to join us in Harrisburg for this lobbying visit. It is time to convert our electoral victory from last November into meaningful legislative results, in defense of the Constitution. i consider it crucial that we speak with one voice in support of this legislation.
Once the petition is approved by your group, one of the coordinators from your group will sign the group name to the petition.
Make a copy of the Petition for your records and mail the original to: Founders T.E.A. Party Patriots
P.O. Box 366
Analomink, PA. 18320
If you prefer to email the petition after it is signed, thereby keeping your original, please scan and email the document to:

Obama Team Stood by Solyndra's U.S. Loan as Troubles Mounted
Solyndra LLC's workers making solar-power panels in a California factory subsidized by U.S. taxpayers showed "the promise of clean energy isn't just an article of faith," President Barack Obama said on a visit to the company in May 2010.
Two months before Obama's visit, accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP warned that Solyndra, the recipient of $535 million in federal loan guarantees, had financial troubles deep enough to "raise substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern."
The Obama administration stood by Solyndra through the auditor's warning, the abandonment of a planned initial public offering and a last-ditch refinancing where taxpayers took a back seat to new investors. That unwavering commitment has come under increasing scrutiny since the company's travails culminated in its filing for bankruptcy protection on Sept. 6 and a raid on its headquarters by the Federal Bureau of Investigation two days later.

Congressmen nowhere to be found: House passes extension of bloated spending programs on a voice vote.
HR 2887 extended transportation construction programs at funding levels above the House-passed budget. This six-month spending bill didn't even have a cost estimate from the Congressional Budget Office.
And they passed it without a recorded vote.
>> Call your Representatives and ask: "why didn't you object to this bill?"
The transportation package has long been the poster child of irresponsible Washington spending. When the House passed a budget in the Spring, they lowered transportation funding, representing a curb on Washington's spending binge. And today, the House of Representatives turned its back on this spending discipline. Any Representative could have asked for a recorded vote on this bill, but none did.
>> Call your Representative, ask why they didn't object, and send us a call report now.
Congressmen need to hear from conservatives on this issue. Call your Representative and send us a call report now.
Thanks for your help on this important issue,

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer Obama Wants To Save A Job -- His! President Obama is hitting the campaign trail, going to the critical swing state of Ohio to sell his American Jobs Act. But a truth in labeling law would require the Administration to call the bill "Obama's Job Act." It has nothing to do with creating new jobs and everything to do with helping Obama save his job! After claiming for days that the nearly $500 billion proposal is fully paid for, we've learned that Obama is demanding more tax hikes that not even a Democrat Congress would agree to. Just 10 months ago (not exactly ancient history) the Democrat-controlled Congress voted to renew the Bush tax cuts and not to raise taxes on anyone. Why does Obama think the Republican-controlled House would raise taxes when his own party would not? Do you recall during the debt limit debate when the House GOP passed "Cut, Cap and Balance"? The media were incredulous. Every commentator panned the effort as a "waste of time," because the bill stood no chance in Harry Reid's Senate. What did Obama just do? He sent a bill to Capitol Hill that stands no chance of passing. Yet today we're told that "politics is standing in the way" of Obama's brilliant plan. Here's what you need to understand: Obama doesn't want the bill to pass. This is not about creating new jobs for Americans -- it's a campaign strategy to save his job! That is why Obama is on the campaign trail today. Obama wants to convince voters that he is for teachers, while Republicans are for "millionaires and billionaires." He is for new schools, but the GOP is for "corporate jet owners." Obama is for the middle class, and Republicans are for hedge fund managers. It's class warfare again, and these themes will be the centerpiece of his reelection campaign. Here are two more points to consider. First, I know everyone likes getting a break on their Social Security payroll taxes. But right now Republicans generally, and Gov. Perry specifically, are getting crucified for suggesting that the program is in need of reform. (See here.) Yet for the second year in a row, Obama and his Democrat allies are taking billions out of the Social Security system in order to buy votes. Obama is telling audiences that he has given them the largest tax cut in history -- an absurd claim that earned Obama "four Pinocchios" from the Washington Post. Who really has the best interests of Social Security at heart? Second, liberal pundits are doing their best in these presidential debates to pigeonhole Republicans as extremists for refusing to raises taxes to reduce the deficit. Again, what did Obama just do? Will his half trillion dollars in new tax hikes go to reduce the deficit? No. It's for another round of stimulus spending. And we're having this debate today because Obama's previous $800 billion stimulus bill failed so miserably. Perhaps this one will only fail half as badly. The editors of USA Today were not impressed -- calling it "Jobs plan déjà vu." Your liberal friends will attempt to turn the tables on you, asking rhetorically, "If you don't support Obama's plan, what is yours?" Here is the answer: Economic growth has stopped because there is a crisis of confidence among consumers and employers. This is caused by America's growing debt and the fear of higher taxes. It is being stoked by images on the TV of riots in Greece and England (the results of failed socialist states) and by a president who continually gets on TV to demand higher taxes. Our jobs plan is to get Obama out of office, so we can cut spending, cut regulations and lower taxes! To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, a recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose yours. Recovery begins when Obama loses his! The Tea Party Debate The endorsements were coming fast and furious ahead of last night's Tea Party debate. Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty endorsed Mitt Romney and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal endorsed Rick Perry. I have not yet endorsed any candidate for president. We are reaching out and giving advice to all of them. From a purely analytical view, Governor Rick Perry was once again the piñata at the party -- taking hits for his comments about Social Security, his actions on the HPV vaccine and his position on illegal immigration. While Perry held his ground, he didn't necessarily gain any. It will be interesting to see whether he sustains his big lead in the polls after this latest debate. Kudos to former Senator Rick Santorum for once again exposing Ron Paul's bizarre beliefs. Last night, Santorum nailed Paul for a post on Paul's website that blamed American foreign policy for 9/11. During the exchange, Paul tried to defend his isolationism by quoting Osama bin Laden, suggesting we were attacked because America was occupying Muslim lands. It had to be one of Paul's worst moments, and the audience expressed its displeasure with a chorus of loud "boos." But shame on the front-runners for remaining silent and refusing to take on Paul. Rick Santorum should not be the only one standing up for America and pushing back against the nonsense that we are responsible for 9/11. If these candidates want to lead the country, they should start showing some leadership by denouncing Paul's dangerously deluded ideas. Pray For Dr. Dobson My good friend Dr. James Dobson is in the hospital recovering from multiple bone fractures after falling off a horse while on vacation. His daughter, Danae, says he's doing well and, thankfully, suffered no serious complications. Please remember Dr. Dobson, and his wife, Shirley, in your prayers in the days ahead.

GOP: Say NO to Endorsements
Many in the conservative grass roots and Tea Party movement have been frustrated over many years by the primary endorsement process of the Republican Party committee apparatus. We have seen the PA State Committee effectively determine the outcome of elections before the primary through a flawed endorsement process that rewards those candidates that tend to "toe the line" and punish the "radical" limited government candidates that they view as "uncontrollable". The primary endorsement process has given us a long list of forgettable candidates that neither understood nor supported true limited government. The purpose of the primary is to allow the voters to decide which candidate is worthy of running in the general election, not be dictated to by the party. Pennsylvania is one of only three states (NY and NJ the others) to endorse candidates before the primary. The unendorsed candidates are blacklisted and are not permitted to attend party functions and events. Without the party endorsement it is nearly impossible to win a primary.
The Republican PA State Committee will vote on September 16th on a motion to either endorse before the primary or not endorse.
The Washington County, PA 9.12 Project has launched a statewide effort to convince PA Republican Committee persons to vote against endorsement of candidates before the primary.
We are asking ALL limited government supporters to contact their Republican Committee persons and ask them to vote to NOT endorse before the primary. You can find a list of all PA Republican Committee persons at http://thepacoalition.com/?p=2194
A sample letter to your Committeeman is available at http://thepacoalition.com/?p=2211 Please contact your county's Republican Committee persons and ask them to vote to NOT endorse candidates before the primary.

Fellow Patriots,
On Thursday, Sept. 15, Mark Alexander will announce plans for a class action lawsuit. If you believe our national government is in violation of its constitutionally mandated limits, you will most assuredly want to learn about this action and join the ranks of those seeking to restore the integrity of our Constitution.
If you are a United States citizen and subject to federal taxes, you are eligible to join this action, and we encourage you, and everyone you know, to do just that. The success of this legal action depends on a large number of members signing on.
Look for the announcement on Thursday in Alexander's Essay, and be prepared to participate in the most significant legal action regarding "taxation and representation" since our nation's founding.
On behalf of your Patriot Team,

Morning Bell: Surprising Facts about America's Poor
Mike Brownfield | September 13, 2011
In his address to the joint session of Congress last week, President Barack Obama called for $477 billion in new federal spending, which he said would give hundreds of thousands of disadvantaged young people hope and dignity while giving their low-income parents "ladders out of poverty." And today, the U.S. Census released its annual poverty report, which declared that 46.2 million persons, or roughly one in seven Americans, were poor in 2010. What President Obama didn't tell America as he was pleading for more spending-and what the Census Bureau didn't report-is what it really means to be poor in America.
In a new report, Heritage's Robert Rector and Rachel Sheffield lay out what the U.S. government's own facts and figures really say about poverty in the United States. The results might surprise you, especially if your view of poverty is the conventional one, perpetuated by the media-namely, destitute conditions of homelessness and hunger. In reality, though, the living conditions of those defined as poor by the government are much different than that popular image. The following are facts about persons defined as "poor" by the Census Bureau:

Party Like It's 1787
On September 17, 1787, delegates from each state signed the Constitution. At 224 years old, the Constitution is now the longest lasting, most imitated national constitution in the world. It unified the country during a time of tremendous instability by providing a stable national government over the 13 separate states. Hearkening back to the first principles of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution creates the processes through which we consider and evaluate the policy questions of today. Therefore, every September 17th we celebrate this fundamental document-our United States Constitution. And here's how you can join us. In Washington D.C., The Heritage Foundation continues to Preserve the Constitution with this week's lecture featuring John Yoo (you can still watch last week's panel on Reagan on the Constitution). Hillsdale College commemorates the Constitution with an all-star line-up including Representative Paul Ryan and Charles Krauthammer (watch it online). The Tocqueville Forum revives the Federalist vs. Anti-federalist debate with a discussion of the Ratification of the Constitution. And of course, while in the nation's capital, don't forget to pay homage to the document itself with a trip to the National Archives. Not in DC? Not a problem! Attend one of the many Constitution Day festivals from sea to shining sea, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity. Find one near you. Or, host your own Constitution party. We Read the Constitution has a list of Constitution parties in 16 states. Add your state to the list and sign up to host your own party. Looking for educational activities for your family or school? Check out some of the great online resources that other organizations have made available. Many of them, such as the National Constitution Center and the Bill of Rights Institute, produce teachers' lessons that help bring the Constitution into the classroom. Teaching American History has the most comprehensive and user-friendly resource on the Constitutional Convention debates available on the Web. Heritage has several excellent lectures on the importance of the Constitution: For instance, Harvey Mansfield argues that the future of conservatism rests on its ability to defend the Constitution, and Judge Janice Rogers Brown calls on the current generation to reinvigorate the American regime of liberty by returning to first principles. Finally, because the viability of our country depends on our fidelity to, and the faithful exposition and interpretation of, the Constitution, crack open your Heritage Guide to the Constitution. Find out the original meaning of the Borrowing Clause, or learn how many states needed to ratify the Constitution for it to go into effect. Impress your friends with your extensive knowledge of little-known clauses, like the Sinecure Clause (plus, stay tuned for the forthcoming curriculum to the Heritage Guide to the Constitution). The challenge of the Constitutional Convention was to create the institutional arrangements necessary for limiting power and securing the rights promised in the Declaration of Independence while preserving a republican form of government that reflected the consent of the governed. Their solution: a strong government of adequate but limited powers, all carefully enumerated in a written constitution. In addition to an energetic executive, a bicameral legislature, and an independent judiciary, the Constitution relies on structural arrangements of separated powers and federalism. That the delegates could agree on such a system was, according to George Washington, "little short of a miracle." 224 years later we still celebrate the miracle of the Constitution. Won't you join us?

Health 'reform' has sent costs soaring
By BETSY MCCAUGHEY
September 13, 2011
Overall job growth hit zero in August, but jobs in health care are growing steadily. That would be good news, except that growth in this industry is increasingly paid for by taxpayers or new federal borrowing. And despite the sales pitch to the contrary, the Obama health law is making things worse.
The actuaries at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services now forecast health-care spending to reach 19.8 percent of GDP by 2020, up from 16.6 percent when President Obama took office. And half this spending (49 percent) will be by government.
The actuaries' predictions suggest that, in the long run, the largest threat to the nation's solvency isn't Medicare; it's the Obama health law's vast expansion of Medicaid, which will cost more than Medicare once baby-boom demand peaks.
Simply put, the president's "reform" is converting Medicaid from a temporary safety net to a permanent, taxpayer-paid health entitlement, replacing private insurance.

Woman Who Killed Infant Freed by Canada's Pro-Abortion Law
by Steven Ertelt
Edmonton, Alberta
9/13/11
A woman who strangled and killed her newborn baby has been released and will face no jail time thanks to a judge who cited support for legalized abortion in Canada, where abortions are legal and paid for at taxpayer expense.
Katrina Effert of Wetaskiwin, Alberta gave birth secretly in the downstairs level of her parents' home and then killed her baby son by throwing his body over the fence of their yard. Effert, 19 at the time of the infanticide, told the court she worried about what her parents would think of having to listen to the cries of a newborn baby in the house. Effert's parents were not aware of the pregnancy and she initially told police she had not had sexual intercourse.
The boy was named Rodney and Effert reportedly used a pair of her own underwear to strangle him and take his life before tossing his body into her parents' neighbor's yard.

The recent Texaswildfires have consumed nearly 4600 square miles of vegetation destroyed over 1000 homes and taken several lives. If only Texas´ (not to mentionArizona,Californiaand New Mexico´s) forests could have been systematically harvested to help our economy! Unfortunately, this isn't the case as Obama´s Director of the Bureau of Land Management, Bob Abbey, has opposed recent legislation proposed under H.R. 1581 (The Wilderness and Roadless Area Release Act of 2011) sponsored by Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.). Abbey, it appears, is going for the jugular to rouse a nation impervious to 9% plus unemployment and defend the environment by comparing this GOP initiative to: "...shooting a small rabbit with a large gun, leaving almost no meat on the bone." At stake is lifting Forest Service protections to nearly 36 million acres of inventoried road-less lands as well as compelling the Bureau ... Got this from a friend who went to the Springfield Townhall meeting.
We all should hold their feet to the fire, SAVE OUR REPUBLIC NOW !!!
Hi Mark,
When I asked Representative Meehan (Rep, 7th District, PA) at the Springfield Townhall last week about the resurrection of subprime mortgages by the Obama administration, he indicated that he was unaware of this. I think this SHOULD be a matter of great concern, particularly in these fragile economic times.
I compiled a list of articles (albeit Opinion articles) indicating that the resurrection of subprime mortgages is indeed occurring. Of particular interest is a statement from Bank of America's web site that says: "The down payment assistance programs (DAPs) provide funds to low- and moderate-income families and first time homebuyers for home purchase. The programs generally provide down payment and closing cost assistance, and repayment is often with favorable terms or, in some cases, fully forgiven." What is THAT all about??? Any ideas?
Anyway, I am attaching the letter and the documentation articles that I hand-delivered to Meehan's office today. I hope he listens. I have to say that I was impressed with him at the meeting last week and also the way in which he questioned the EPA representative about fish and jobs. I thought you might be interested in the articles and also in the video in which he was questioning Ms. Jackson of the EPA. (See the link below.)

Bank of America's WEb site Information
Note: This was taken from Bank of America's web site. It would be interesting to know why loans are, in some cases, fully forgiven! Joanne Yurchak

"Down Payment Assistance, Bonds and Other Affordable Housing Programs
Bank of America participates in over 2,500 affordable housing programs. The most common are down payment assistance and bond programs. The down payment assistance programs (DAPs) provide funds to low- and moderate-income families and first time homebuyers for home purchase. The programs generally provide down payment and closing cost assistance, and repayment is often with favorable terms or, in some cases, fully forgiven.Other types of affordable housing programs include mortgage credit certificates, also known as MCC's, grants from nonprofits or government agencies, inclusionary zoning, employer assisted housing and others. Bank of America also participates in state and local mortgage revenue bond programs that generally provide below market interest rates to first-time homebuyers and sometimes offer a grant or second mortgage assistance. Bond loans are first mortgages that are underwritten to Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA and/or VA guidelines that result in significant community lending production. Approved affordable housing programs can be provided by a city, county or state agency. Call them directly to get information on their first-time homebuyer or affordable housing loan programs. Or contact us and we will align you with the appropriate mortgage professional."

Holder Launches WItchhunt Against Biased Banks
Holder Launches Witch Hunt Against Biased Banks
By PAUL SPERRY, INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY Posted 07/08/2011 06:51 PM ET
In what could be a repeat of the easy-lending cycle that led to the housing crisis, the Justice Department has asked several banks to relax their mortgage underwriting standards and approve loans for minorities with poor credit as part of a new crackdown on alleged discrimination, according to court documents reviewed by IBD.
Prosecutions have already generated more than $20 million in loan set-asides and other subsidies from banks that have settled out of court rather than battle the federal government and risk being branded racist. An additional 60 banks are under investigation, a DOJ spokeswoman says.
No Job, No Problem
Settlements include setting aside prime-rate mortgages for low-income blacks and Hispanics with blemished credit and even counting "public assistance" as valid income in mortgage applications.
In several cases, the government has ordered bank defendants to post in all their branches and marketing materials a notice informing minority customers that they cannot be turned down for credit because they receive public aid, such as unemployment benefits, welfare payments or food stamps.
Among other remedies: favorable interest rates and down-payment assistance for minority borrowers with weak credit.
For example, the government has ordered Midwest BankCentre to set aside almost $1 million in "special financing" for residents living in predominantly black areas of St. Louis. The program includes originating conventional home loans at fixed prime rates for African-American borrowers "who would ordinarily not qualify for such rates for reasons including the lack of required credit quality, income or down payment."
The same federal order, signed last month, praises Midwest for adopting "less stringent underwriting criteria" while under investigation.
In the case against Citizens Bank of Detroit, settled in May, the U.S. decrees that "the bank may choose to apply more flexible underwriting standards in connection with the programs under this order."
Such efforts risk recreating the government-imposed lax underwriting that led to the housing boom and bust, critics fear.
"It's absolutely outrageous after what we've just gone through," said former Rep. Ernest Istook, a Heritage Foundation fellow. "How can someone both be financially stable enough to merit a mortgage at the same time they're on public assistance? By definition, you don't have the kind of employment that can support such a loan."
Justice March
Justice spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa said the anti-discrimination notice "does not compel the banks to make loans to people who do not qualify." She said such measures are "essential to remedy the harmful effects of the banks' conduct."
But industry analysts fear Attorney General Eric Holder is rekindling an anti-bank witch hunt launched by Attorney General Janet Reno in the 1990s, when Holder served as her deputy.
Some blame that in part for the subprime boom, because banks were ordered to throw open their lending windows to credit-poor minorities. That crackdown spurred the American Bankers Association to distribute to its thousands of members "fair-lend ing tool kits" advising the adoption of more permissive underwriting criteria to help inoculate them from prosecution.
In the new prosecutions, Justice acknowledges in every case it did not prove charges of intentional discrimination, while banks have denied any wrongdoing. Many, in fact, earned outstanding ratings from anti-redlining regulators enforcing the Community Reinvestment Act.
Istook calls Holder's crusade an "egregious overreach by the government." He says many of the targets are smaller banks without the resources to fight a protracted legal battle.
The House Judiciary Committee plans to investigate.
"This is an expansion of the law," said a congressional investigator. "They're pushing the envelope as far as they can go in the enforcement of civil rights."
DOJ Demands 'Nondisclosure'
As part of settlement deals, prosecutors have required banks to sign "nondisclosure agreements" barring them from talking about the methods used to allege discrimination. Bank lawyers contend the prosecutors are trying to hide the shaky legal grounds on which the cases are built. "It's horrible what they're doing at the civil rights division," said Reginald Brown, a partner at Wilmer Hale in Washington, who has represented banks in connection to recent race-bias investigations. "They don't have any proof, just theories."
He added, "They want you to sign something saying you agree, under the condition of any settlement with them, that you won't disclose what their theories were. That's because their theories are loopy and wouldn't stand the light of day."
One such theory - "disparate impact" - holds that merely a difference in loan application outcomes is enough to prove racial discrimination - even if no intent exists on the part of loan officers to contrast based on the color of applicants, and even legitimate business factors - such as credit scores and down payments - help explain disparities in loan outcomes between white and black applicants.
Under this broad theory, banks have been accused of racism simply for failing to open branches or aggressively market mortgages in black neighborhoods - regardless of the demand for, or viability of, such loans in those areas.
Following this theory, the government has ordered several banks to advertise in black media and open branches in black neighborhoods, despite the weak economy.
Justice confirmed it has asked banks to keep its methodologies, which include computer-based statistical analysis, secret.
"In certain circumstances, when a bank has requested details of our analysis, the department has requested that a defendant agree to a confidentiality agreement," Hinojosa told IBD.
Critics say Holder's interpretation of civil-rights law is even more radical than Reno's.
For the first time, prosecutors are judging banks for the secondary impact their policies have on entire minority communities, not just households. And they're ordering reparations accordingly.
In announcing a recent $2 million settlement with Dallas-based PrimeLending, Civil Rights Division chief Tom Perez said, "We will require lenders to invest in the community that they've harmed."
Another Reno protege, Perez has compared bankers to Klansmen. Only difference is, he said, bankers discriminate "with a smile" and "fine print." He said this kind of racism, though more subtle, is "every bit as destructive as the cross burned in a neighborhood."
Perez has put in place an infrastructure to enforce "fair lending" - including a first-of-its-kind Fair Lending Unit staffed with more than 20 lawyers, economists and statisticians.
He's appointed a special lending cop to run it - Special Counsel for Fair Lending Eric Halperin, who also worked for Reno. Before returning to Justice, Halperin was chief Washington lobbyist for the Center for Responsible Lending, an anti-redlining group that urged banks to relax lending standards for low-income urban borrowers before the crisis.
Perez has required bank defendants to earmark potentially millions in funding for inner-city community organizers - who must be approved by Justice. Critics say lenders are being forced to bankroll Acorn clones that often exist just to shake them down for risky loans.
Hinojosa declined to provide a list of these "qualified organizations."
Perez is also prosecuting banks for "reverse redlining through the targeting of minority communities for predatory loans."
Istook finds it odd that the government is condemning lenders for doing too well what it pressured them to do in the name of diversity before the crisis. "Banks are damned if they do, damned if they don't," he said.
Also, critics say Justice is acting as a bank regulator by enforcing its own quota system for multicultural loans. The civil rights division has set "benchmarks" for minority lending, and will monitor bank lending volume and activity in that area among the banks it's suing.
In effect, Justice is using private banks to carry out affirmative-action lending, Istook says, a campaign he describes as "legal plunder."

Justice's New War Against Lenders
The Obama administration repeats mistakes of the past by intimidating banks into lending to minority borrowers at below-market rates in the name of combating discrimination.
By MARY KISSEL
Talk about not learning from past mistakes: A government department is again intimidating banks into lending to minority borrowers at below-market rates, all in the name of combating "discrimination." Welcome to the next housing mess. The 1990s may have brought us supercharged politicized lending, but Eric Holder's Department of Justice is taking the game to an entirely new level, and then some. The weapon is a "fair lending" unit created in early 2010, led by special counsel Eric Halperin and overseen by Civil Rights Division head Thomas Perez.

Letter to Meehan -- Townhall-August 31, 2011-Subprime Mortgages
1397 Springton Lane
West Chester, PA 19380
September 7, 2011
Representative Patrick Meehan
940 Sproul Road
Springfield, PA 19064
Dear Representative Meehan:
I attended your Townhall Meeting at the Springfield Township Building on Wednesday, August 31 and want to thank you for taking the time to listen to the concerns of so many of your constituents. You must have been exhausted after having three Townhalls in one day! I have to say that I do not believe that the obvious left-wing orientation of most of the rowdy crowd in attendance was in any way representative of the viewpoints of the vast majority of your constituents in the 7th District.
Your explanation on the need to consider the effect of crushing EPA regulations on our fragile economy was excellent. I had not been aware of the situation that you discussed in which one of our local refineries is being asked to put in a cooling tower at a cost of $350 million so that water can be returned back to the Delaware River two degrees cooler than it had been. You explained that the cost of complying with this environmental regulation could put this refinery and thousands of local jobs at risk, and opined that it is essential to consider both environmental and economic impacts when formulating EPA mandates. I actually went to your web site and found a link to a video during which you very aptly questioned EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson: "How Does the EPA Decide Whether the Loss or Creation of Jobs, as a Result of a Regulation, Should be Part of a Thorough Economic Analysis?"
Your prosecutorial skills were apparent and impressive. I particularly liked your question: "At what point in time does the welfare of fish start to take precedence over the creation of jobs?" I hope you continue to be a watchdog, curbing unrealistic EPA regulations of this sort.
I was fortunate enough to be recognized to ask a question. My comment was:
"Someone previously stated that a primary cause of the housing collapse was due to speculation. My understanding is that the primary cause was governmental regulations mandating banks to lend money for sub prime mortgages. Too many people were lent money who could not pay. Thus, the collapse! Several recent articles have indicated that the Obama administration is beginning to resurrect these fiscally irresponsible mandates. Do you know if this is the case, and if so, are you willing to stop these fiscally irresponsible regulations?"
In your response to my question, you indicated that you were not aware that these fiscally irresponsible mandates were being resurrected. I am attaching some opinion articles (for your information) that indicate that they are. I strongly urge you to investigate, and if necessary, endeavor to stop this administration from imposing mandates similar to those that were a primary catalyst in the collapse of our housing market and subsequently in our economy.
I have been involved with the Tea Party Movement since its inception in early 2009 and am genuinely concerned with the economically and morally destructive direction in which the current administration is taking America. I know that you are continually subjected to pressures from all sides of the political spectrum but hope that you will endeavor to restore fiscal responsibility, governmental integrity, adherence to the Constitution, and a true free market system to our beloved United States of America. Thank you.
Very truly yours,
Joanne Yurchak

Reckless Redux for Subprime Loans
Editorial: Reckless Redux For Subprime Loans
Posted 07/14/2011 06:54 PM ET
http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article/578384/201107141854/Subprime-Loans-Reckless-Redux.aspx
Racial Politics: With homeownership plunging among minorities, Democrats and community organizers are pushing banks to revert to the easy-credit requirements that got us into the crisis.
In the latest move, the NAACP announced Wednesday it was forming a partnership with Bank of America to "advance fair-lending practices" that will help provide credit to "disenfranchised communities that were ravaged by the economic crisis."
Among other things, BofA has agreed to monitor lending policies for their "racial impact" and allow borrowers "the option of selecting a loan that is appropriate for his circumstances."
BofA, which just shelled out $8.5 billion to settle subprime claims, also pledged to "eliminate policies or practices that encourage biased and exploitive behaviors toward borrowers" and to "work with borrowers to prevent foreclosures."
Sure, if FHA can do it, why can't big banks? The Obama administration last week announced the agency will let delinquent mortgage-holders slide a full year on payments before starting foreclosure proceedings.
The Justice Department, meanwhile, has been pressuring lenders to lower their credit standards in order to secure more mortgages for minorities.
As we reported last week, Attorney General Eric Holder has sued several banks based on groundless charges of discrimination. They're now under court order to change their lending policies to qualify more credit-poor borrowers.
They've even been ordered to scrub clean the bad credit histories of minority borrowers who've defaulted on mortgages, thereby allowing them to requalify for loans.
When these politically mandated loans go into default, which they likely will, the housing market will take another blow. Home values will drop further still. And taxpayers will get struck with the tab when banks buckle from carrying even more bad debt.
As punishment for alleged racism, Holder's also making lenders fork over millions to inner-city groups that exist to shake down banks for easy loans.
One of the "qualified organizations" selected by Holder is the National Urban League, which has been aggressively campaigning against stricter down payments and credit standards. It argues that requiring 20% down "stifles homeownership for communities of color."
The administration isn't just resocializing mortgages. The newly created Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which opens its doors July 21, plans to crack down on banks that deny business loans to minorities. Under the Dodd-Frank Act, banks for the first time must report data on minority business lending to the government.
The effort to ease credit appears orchestrated.
During Wednesday's Fed hearings, Democrats squawked that banks need to "qualify more people" for loans so they can buy the surplus of empty homes hanging over the market. They also griped that postcrisis qualifying standards have become "too strict" among lenders - including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
So here we go again ... creating conditions for another easy credit catastrophe in the financial sector. Have we learned nothing from the last crisis, which isn't even fully behind us?
In fact, we've learned the wrong lessons. And that's because Democrats and their accomplices in the media have rewritten history to make it seem as if "fat cat" Wall Street bankers and "predatory lenders" caused the crisis.
If the public knew the truth - that reckless federal housing policies designed to close the racial mortgage gap led to government generating more than two-thirds of the subprime and otherwise risky loans that crashed the system by 2008 - then banks like BofA wouldn't be on the defensive, and wouldn't be rolling over again for the affordable-housing zealots.
The biggest predatory lenders were in Washington - at HUD, Treasury and Justice - where they mandated that Fannie and Freddie and private lenders actually "target" low-income minorities for subprime loans.
That's really how we got into this mess. But all that was bleached out of the official report by the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, which was set up by the same Democrat politicians who helped push Fannie and Freddie over the subprime cliff.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was ready to investigate their crooked investigation Wednesday. But Democrats, led by ranking member Rep. Elijah Cummings, sabotaged the hearing. It's now postponed indefinitely.
If Democrats get away with their cover-up, they'll get away with their new assault on underwriting standards. And that could be the final blow to the recovery.

Susan's Paul Ryan Medicare Pamphlet - please print this and give it to your contacts
SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
- maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
- provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
- Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
- If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
- And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

The Truth on Islamic Extremism
Glenn promised that GBTV would live up to the slogan "The Truth Lives Here" and last night he delivered the truth on Islamic Extremism. What are the facts on this threat to America - and why are politicians ignoring it even when Muslim families in America are crying out against the radicals? Glenn asks the tough questions and delivers the (non-PC) truth on GBTV! WATCH

Wasted Ron Paul Supporter
Glenn played a hilarious video of a Ron Paul supporter, wasted and pulled over for a DUI, lecturing the police officers on the Constitution. Only problem? Unfortunately, his argument doesn't make a whole lot of sense and triggers a discussion in how hands off the government should be and the issues that arise from extreme libertarianism. WATCH the hilarious video and the ensuing debate from radio.
Romney vs Perry
