Bering Strait Tunnel to Connect U.S. and Russia
The Blaze | by Tiffany Gabbay | Posted on September 13, 2011 at 12:08am
The U.S. and Russia have cooperated in space, and now the two countries are adding high seas to the mix, having set their minds on connecting the Eurasian and American continents via an underwater tunnel in the Bering Strait.
Originally conceived in 1906, during the rule of the last Russian Czar, Nicholas II, the project had been deemed unrealistic by many, and put on hold by world wars and revolutions, but now seems to have recaptured the hearts of businessmen on three continents. The tunnel is expected to be twice the size of the Channel Tunnel connecting Britain and France. The 65 mile giant would be the key component of a 3,700 mile railroad reaching from Yakutsk, Russia to Canada's British Columbia.

Morning Bell: Preserve the Constitution, Now More Than Ever
Ed Meese | September 12, 2011
The Constitution of the United States of America has endured over two centuries. It remains the object of reverence for nearly all Americans and an object of admiration by peoples around the world. Unfortunately, the assault by 20th century liberal theorists and activist judges has seriously undermined respect for America's core principles, denigrating some constitutional rights they disagree with and making up others.
Fortunately, there has been a renewed interest in the Constitution in recent years, as Americans seek to understand the founding principles and enduring truths that form the bedrock of our chosen form of self-government. Clearly, the future of liberty depends on America reclaiming its constitutional first principles.
In that spirit, The Heritage Foundation is hosting an extraordinary series of events as we do our part to Preserve the Constitution. Heritage's Preserve the Constitution Series will feature the nation's most respected judges, legal scholars, and policy analysts as they discuss how to combat these attacks on the rule of law and the Constitution.

Bring your questions so you can speak with an informed voice to your Senators and Congressman about their vote on the debt ceiling. We must make our voice heard. Help us man our table at the Gun Show, Valley Forge Convention Center
September 16, 17 and 18
Next weekend,we need two hours or so of your time. Our table at the gun show will display literature about our Tea Party. Best of all, it gives us the rare opportunity to have face-to-face chats with members of the public. We expect that gun show attendees are a promising audience for our message, and hopefully we can recruit new members.
You need not know anything about guns to help man our table, although a few of us can give you some instruction if you desire.
Please respond to this email now, with your willingness to help, and include which day (or days) are OK for you. We'll announce the times in a couple of days. Let me know now so we can make up our manning roster for the table.

Friends,
Thanks to my NYC buddies for this information. The radical, Jew/America/Freedom hating groups listed below will be marching for tyranny on September 15th, in NYC for Palestinian rights. If you check out the list, you'll note the inclusion of three that stand out:
CODE PINK,
INTERNATIONAL SOCIALIST ORGANIZATION AND PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA.
You are aware that CODE PINK's founder and leader, Jodie Evans, is a close friend and financial supporter of President Obama and a well known White House visitor and insider. Her partner, Medea Benjamin is also linked to the White House.
THE PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA, another anti-Israel marching group, according to their website, contains such members in good standing as House members: Donna Edwards, Raul Grijalva, Maxine Waters, Lynn Woolsey, Jim McGovern, Dennis Kucinich, John Conyers and Barbara Lee. All of whom are Democrat House members. Do you think Cong. Debbie Schultz will walk with them in support of Palestine?
THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIALIST ORGANIZATION also has links on its site to such groups as:Planned Parenthood, Greepeace, AFL/CIO, Center for Constitutional Rights, Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), NOW, NARAL and MichaelMoore.com. What a conglomeration of groups!!
So, the marchers for Palestinian rights and the destruction of Israel get the support of the above named individuals and the listed groups. If you research the other organizations involved, you'll dig up more slime among them. Do not forget who they are!

Palestinians Tell the World: Sovereignty Means Securing
ALL Our Rights!
Palestinians and their supporters everywhere are mobilizing to remind the world of their right to self-determination. In New York we are marching to the United Nations because the world's attention is focused on the vote on Palestine scheduled to take place there.
For over six decades, the U.N. has approved numerous resolutions promising Palestinians their basic rights, none of which has been implemented. We come to the U.N. to demand:
Sovereignty, Equality, and the Right of Return for Palestinians NOW!

Subject: ATTENTION ALL PENNSYLVANIA VOTERS: Oppose Strong Arm GOP Tactics
STATE GOP MEETING, HARRISBURG, SATURDAY, SEPT. 17, 9:30 am
Pennsylvanians need to communicate to the PA State Republican Party, aka State
Committee, that nothing less than a return to Republican Party principles will be
tolerated by the PA Republican electorate.
The PA GOP leadership continues with their establishment politics of endorsing
candidates in primaries to protect their status quo and will continue to deny the
Republican voters of Pennsylvania their RIGHT to choose the leaders that they
want to represent them.
It is time to show PA GOP leadership that the voting Republicans CAN
UNDERSTAND, DO UNDERSTAND, and WILL NOT STAND for
leadership making the voting decisions in the State of Pennsylvania and
taking away the voice of the voters.
We are asking constituents from every county in Pennsylvania to attend the General
Republican Meeting on*** Saturday September 17th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at
the Harrisburg Hilton, 1 North Second Street, Harrisburg, PA, and personally
experience the disdain that PA GOP leadership has for their fellow Republicans.
Please understand, the"leadership" is not elected.
Please join with fellow Republican voters in unity to make a stand against the strong-arm tactics of the Pennsylvania GOP leadership.

Judical Watch is Demanding Answers Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:
 | "The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2 |
But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.
We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action? True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step. For more information email info@truethevote.org or go HERE to sign up now! |

DAY OF RAGE PLANNED FOR D.C., STATE CAPITOLS and WALL STREET SEPT 17, 2011
This information came out of Idaho, but this is being staged across the entire 50 states! We need to be aware and let others know, especially those that live in the capitals, or have businesses there. If you've seen the riots taking place in Greece, or those in the Middle East, you see a sample of what it looks like they are planning. Let's hope that either few show up, that they stay peaceful, or that the law enforcement agencies are able to thwart it before it occurs....

Please come to our Constitution Day event entitled "Everything you wanted to know about ObamaCare, but didn't know who to ask."
They said we had to pass it to know what's in it, but over a year later, people STILL don't fully understand how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) - aka "ObamaCare" - will affect them and their health.
That's why a coalition of citizens and health care professionals will present "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About ObamaCare But Didn't Know Who to Ask" on the campus of DeSales University in Center Valley, PA from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 - which, ironically, happens to be Constitution Day. DeSalesUniversity is located in the Lehigh Valley of PA, within easy driving distance of the major population centers of central, northeast, and southeast PA.
Policy professionals, physicians, business and legislative leaders, and representatives from groups most affected by the PPACA will share their insights and expertise through presentations, breakout sessions, exhibits, and panel discussions.
They'll explain how ObamaCare affects personal liberty and the Constitution, families and seniors, taxpayers, Medicare and the deficit, insurance premiums and the uninsured, businesses, employees and the economy, doctors, patients, and access to care, American innovation in medicine, and more.
Also included will be detailed updates on state and national efforts to defund, repeal, replace, and nullify ObamaCare from some of the legislative leaders spearheading those efforts.
Participants will leave the three hour event far more informed about what's in the PPACA than most of the legislators who voted for it, and will be energized to get involved in the fight to save America's health care. Participants, both live and online, will be empowered by their new understanding of how the PPACA will not accomplish any of the things its name implies, and will be able to effectively communicate that new understanding to others, providing important education about why this ill-conceived piece of legislation needs to be defeated by any means possible.
Already, according to Rasmussen's most recent poll, 54% of Americans want to see ObamaCare repealed, while only 39% oppose repeal - but the people who passed it clearly have not heard the voices of the American people yet. The more Americans know about the PPACA, the more they dislike it, and this conference will help to provide the tools citizen advocates and health care professionals need to effectively participate in the process to defund, repeal, and replace ObamaCare.
The event will be free to the public on site in a venue which will seat 500, and a live streaming video, and a professionally produced program will promote information about our coalition's sponsoring groups, as well as providing important information about the PPACA.
Please consider joining with the Lehigh Valley Coalition for Health Care Reform to help educate the public about ObamaCare through your sponsorship of this important event. If you'd like to be involved, please contact me ASAP and I'll reserve your space in our program and on the promotional materials. We are currently working on creating a web page and Facebook page for the event.
For additional information about this event and opportunities to get involved, please contact Donna Baver Rovito at ROVSPA@aol.com.

Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked.
So here it is. A one page, quick description of Agenda 21 that fits on one page. I've also included for the back side of your hand out a list of quotes for the perpetrators of Agenda 21 that should back up my brief descriptions.
A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. Research, know your details; discover the NGO players in your community; identify who is victimized by the policies and recruit them to your fight; and then kill Agenda 21. That's how it must be done. The information below is only your first step. Happy hunting.
What is Sustainable Development?

Politicians have already indicated their 2012 presidential aspirations. This matching quiz includes President Obama, top members of his administration, Obama's most vocal critics (Boehner, Cantor, etc.) and likely White House prospects (Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal, etc.). You may select a position for every issue, or just select issues important to you. RedState Morning Briefing
For September 13, 2011
1. The Headline Goes Here
No, that title is not a placeholder or an error. "What's your headline," so many people came up to me and asked last night after the CNN Tea Party Debate.
There are so many headlines about the debate. You all, I'm sure, want the quick and dirty scoop.
The short answer is Rick Perry won, but only be default. He had a stellar one hour and fifteen minutes until the full on conservative assault against his HPV decision and immigration decision began. Everyone took bites out of him, Huntsman choked on his bite, but Perry won because no one else did. This is the first debate this election cycle where Mitt Romney did not win.
But Perry's win was a win by default in the end because he has a potentially fatal problem. I'm not sure if it is the candidate or the staff. But I could have told you a month ago Perry was going to get attacked on the HPV issue and the immigration issue and he flubbed both responses. When the crowd went from cheering Perry to booing him, he lost his calm, even paced conversational tone. He stammered, talked fast, and had a funny disposition on his face.
He locked in his lead, I think. Neither the HPV or immigration issue are fatal when Mitt Romney is up there sounding like a Democrat in a tea party debate. Romney really hurt himself badly with those answers on social security, etc.
The other headline is Michele Bachmann, who largely sat out the first hour attacking Perry, went after Perry with reckless, wonderful, passionate relish during the second half of the debate. She played outraged mom and played it well. She proved she still has what it takes. The downside for Bachmann is that she proved it on an issue that is not consequential right now. Perry's HPV decision may disgust me and many of you - it was a horrible decision - but it's still an election about jobs, the economy, and who can beat Obama. Right now, 42% of Republicans think that's Rick Perry, not Mitt Romney and not Michele Bachmann. On top of that, the GOP critics can't find anyone who was a "victim" of the law because the law was so quickly undone.
That begs another headline: "GOP candidate give Perry more hell for an undone executive order than Romney got for still supporting Romneycare."
2. Congress Should Support Israel's Right to All Land Ahead of UN Vote
The video shows the jubilant celebrations taking place in Gaza, while we were attacked on September 11. No, it wasn't just a few "extremists" who were celebrating; it was the average Joe Palestinian. Unfortunately, not only have we declined to treat them as an enemy, we have refused to cut off any foreign aid. Instead, the Bush and Obama administrations have diverted our diplomatic resources towards the insane 'peace process' and the inexorable goal of a Palestinian state.
Over the past few years, we have given over $600 million a year to this terrorist entity, which receives more per capita aid than any other people or nation. This includes, direct assistance, weapons, security training, infrastructure, and funds transferred through UNRWA. In July, Congressman Joe Walsh (R-IL) introduced the Palestinian Accountability Act (H.R. 2457), which seeks to cut off aid to the PA. Last week, he introduced a resolution expressing the support of Congress for Israel to annex Judea and Samaria, if the PA unilaterally declares statehood.
3. Crickets Chirp As White House Spams & Sends Out Union Press Releases
Last week, many Americans watched President Obama stand in front of of his teleprompters and Congress and sell-no, demand-a still unwritten bill dubbed the American Jobs Act. While the President certainly gives an entertaining teleprompted speech, his demands were reminiscent of a third-world barter between a goat herder and a villager: In exchange for two goats (temporary tax cuts), you can give your daughter and her dowry (nearly another half a trillion dollars) to the goat herder so he can give them both to his union boss friends.
The very next day, Obama hit the campaign trail to demand that the House pass the unwritten bill even as employers and Wall Street shrugged at the unwritten plan.

Brief · September 12, 2011
The Foundation
"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman." --Thomas Paine
Opinion in Brief
"[W]e join America in honoring the anniversary of September 11, 2001, when terrorists killed nearly 3,000 of our fellow citizens. In the days after 9/11, Americans stood together as one, setting aside partisan fervor and recognized a common enemy in Islamist terrorist groups, particularly al-Qaeda. National security was rightfully restored as our nation's highest priority. Ten years later, Osama bin Laden is dead, delivering to victims' families and the rest of America a bit of justice for the heinous acts we all witnessed. But one terrorist's death does not justify returning to the national security mindset that existed prior to that day. As Thomas Paine said, 'Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.' That notion is ever true. Thanks to important policies put into place after 9/11, America has been able to thwart at least 41 publicly known terrorist attacks. Such vigilance saved lives and will continue to do so moving forth. ... The global war on terror that began as a result of 9/11 continues, and brave men and women risk their lives daily to protect America and prevent future acts of terrorism. As soldiers return from Afghanistan and Iraq after third or fourth tours of duty, we're reminded that a clear and present danger remains. ... On this, the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, it's important to honor the victims and the heroes of that day by not only remaining on guard, but promising we will never quit this important fight until the threat no longer exists. We ask Americans to join us in a display of unity once again. Today, we hope that every neighborhood across the nation is flooded with American flags celebrating the lives of those we lost in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania and the heroism we witnessed, while also reminding each other that the fight to prevent another attack is not over." --Heritage Foundation's Ericka Andersen
What do you remember about 9/11?
Reader Comments
"Mark Alexander asked, Are we safer today? I would say yes -- for now. However, it will take constant vigilance and preemption to stay that way. I fear for the country that Obama and the democrats in Washington have allowed our security to become lax instead of increasing our security. To say that the southern border is secure is a great overstatement or if you prefer a lie. Where is the allegiance to the oath they took when assuming office? I think that was just a formality to too many." --Floyd
"We are absolutely NOT safer today than we have ever been. Mark Alexander is spot on with his current assessment. How can we be safe when we have an administration more concerned with homosexual advancement in the military, cutting needed military budgets, weakening the US economy, dividing any unity we did have, and fulfilling his own selfish vacation/golfing needs? Many of these people anguishing over 9/11 are those who have forgotten most, as they scream for tolerance to the very group who declared war on us ten years ago. There are many of these people who voted, on purpose, for the very man who is in office now, the man who supports these terrorist agendas by his statements and actions. America, you have forgotten already, as a nation, look at the direction we have gone. We had the power to 'change' course, and we didn't. We chose to put a traitor in office. We deserve what we have." --Marcy
"Despite Barack Obama's repeated calls in his latest propaganda statement to 'pass this bill,' there is no bill. He submitted nothing. I think Congress should schedule a vote on a blank piece of paper with only 'Obama's American Jobs Act of 2011' on it and give the president exactly what he asked for. There's little danger that folks would be unable to read the entire bill before the vote on it!" --Peter
Government
"If President Obama's economic policies have had a signature flaw, it is the conceit that by pulling this or that policy lever, by spending more on this program or cutting that tax for a year, Washington can manipulate the $15 trillion U.S. economy to grow. With his speech last [week] to Congress, the President is giving that strategy one more government try. This is not to say that Mr. Obama hasn't made any intellectual progress across his 32 months in office. He now admits the damage that overregulation can do, though he can't do much to stop it without repealing his own legislative achievements. He now acts as if he believes that taxes matter to investment and hiring, at least for the next year. And he now sees the wisdom of fiscal discipline, albeit starting only in 2013. Yet the underlying theory and practice of the familiar ideas that the President proposed last night are those of the government conjurer. More targeted, temporary tax cuts; more spending now with promises of restraint later; the fifth (or is it sixth?) plan to reduce housing foreclosures; and more public works spending, though this time we're told the projects really will be shovel-ready. We'd like to support a plan to spur the economy, which is certainly struggling. Had Mr. Obama proposed a permanent cut in tax rates, or a major tax reform, or a moratorium on all new regulations for three years, he'd have our support. But you have to really, really believe in hope and change to think that another $300-$400 billion in new deficit spending and temporary tax cuts will do any better than the $4 trillion in debt that the Obama years have already piled up." --The Wall Street Journal

Essential Liberty
"Those who have grown used to having others provide their food, shelter and other basics as 'rights' are by no means grateful. On the contrary, they are more angry, lawless and violent than in years past, whether they are lower-class whites rioting in Britain or black 'flash mobs' in America. Their histories are very different, but what they have in common is being supplied with a steady drumbeat of resentments against those who are better off. ... Henry Ford benefited millions of other people by creating mass production methods that cut the cost of automobiles to a fraction of what they had been before -- bringing cars for the first time within the budgets of people who were not rich. But the Ford Foundation has become a plaything of social experimenters who pay no price for creating programs that have been counterproductive or even socially disastrous. Nor was this the only foundation created by business philanthropy with a similar history and similar social results. Let business pioneers do what they do best. And let the rest of us exercise more judgment as to how much charity is beneficial and how much more simply perpetuates dependency, grievances and the polarization of society." --economist Thomas Sowell

Re: The Left
"A dispassionate look at the NBC Republican debate moderators' questions reveals that they were not themselves dispassionate, which they have a professional duty to be. NBC's Brian Williams and Politico's John Harris put on a clinic in liberal bias and journalistic unprofessionalism as they fired loaded, sanctimonious questions at the debate participants. Debate moderators have no business injecting themselves into the debate or editorializing on the fly as these two did, to their disgrace. They have a duty not to take sides, which these two did, either with particular Republicans against the others or in favor of their political dreamboat, Barack Obama. It wasn't just one or two inappropriately framed questions; it was a continuous barrage, punctuated with patronizing commentary revealing the inquisitors' unconcealed contempt for all things conservative. One can only imagine the opposition research -- er, conscientious preparation -- their staff must have done for them." --columnist David Limbaugh
For the Record"[L]ike millions of seniors then and now, [my] Grandma was convinced that her Social Security benefits were an entitlement she had bought with her own payroll taxes years earlier. She blessed FDR for creating the Social Security trust fund in which she had faithfully invested for most of her working life, and couldn't understand why her grandson had any objection to it. In reality there is no money in Social Security's trust fund and never has been. It is merely an accounting fiction, like the individual Social Security accounts to which workers' payroll taxes are credited. But Grandma could hardly be blamed for believing otherwise. Right from the start, Social Security was promoted to Americans as a straightforward pension fund. ... It wasn't true. In a [1937] decision ... upholding the Social Security Act, the Supreme Court confirmed what anyone who read the law would already have discovered: Payroll taxes weren't held by the government solely for the benefit for retirees. On the contrary: Social Security taxes 'are to be paid into the Treasury like internal revenue taxes generally, and are not earmarked in any way.' Likewise, for all the talk of Social Security as an 'entitlement,' retirees have no ironclad right to that monthly check. 'Congress can change the rules' whenever it wants to, the Social Security Administration's website acknowledges. 'Benefits which are granted at one time can be withdrawn.' That too was explicit in the law FDR signed in 1935. ... [T]he trust fund's assets are an illusion. Social Security doesn't own $2.6 trillion in gold bars or real estate or shares of Google. All it has are Treasury IOUs. Those IOUs represent $2.6 trillion that the government has already spent and promises to spend again. But to spend it again -- to redeem those IOUs -- Congress will have to raise taxes, cut spending, or go deeper into debt. Which is exactly what Congress would have to do if the Social Security trust fund didn't exist. ... FDR's signature program is on a collision course with itself. My grandmother, may she rest in peace, may have believed it would last forever. My generation doesn't have that luxury." --columnist Jeff Jacoby Culture"After the mass shooting in Tucson, Ariz. ... President Obama gave one of those unite-the-divide speeches that give journalists leg thrills. We need to 'sharpen our instincts for empathy,' he said. He lamented political finger-pointing: 'It's important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds.' ... On Labor Day, Teamsters President James Hoffa Jr. was in Detroit addressing a rally starring the president. Hoffa told Obama there was a 'war on workers,' and the unions were Obama's 'army.' He said: 'We are ready to march. Let's take these sons of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong.' ... On Aug. 22, at a Congressional Black Caucus event in Miami, Congressman Andre Carson, D-Ind., said, 'Some of these folks in Congress right now would love to see us as second-class citizens... Some of them in Congress right now of this Tea Party would love to see you and me ... hanging on a tree.' Carson clearly didn't think about talking 'in a way that heals, not a way that wounds.' But ABC, CBS and NBC all skipped that one, too, as did the Post. ... So what's worse, the hypocrisy of Obama and Co.? Or the aid and comfort provided by the 'news' media when they ignore that hypocrisy?" --columnist L. Brent Bozell
The Last Word"Ten years after Osama bin Laden's henchmen murdered thousands of innocents on American soil, too many children have been spoon-fed the thin gruel of progressive political correctness over the stiff antidote of truth. 'Know your enemy, name your enemy' is a 9/11 message that has gone unheeded. Our immigration and homeland security policies refuse to profile jihadi adherents at foreign consular offices and at our borders. Our military leaders refuse to expunge them from uniformed ranks until it's too late (see: Fort Hood massacre). The j-word is discouraged in Obama intelligence circles, and the term 'Islamic extremism' was removed from the U.S. national security strategy document last year. Similarly, too many teachers refuse to show and tell who the perpetrators of 9/11 were and who their heirs are today. ... To make matters worse, we have an appeaser-in-chief who wrote shortly after the jihadist attacks a decade ago that the 'essence of this tragedy' derives 'from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others.' ... 9/11 was a deliberate, carefully planned evil act of the long-waged war on the West by Koran-inspired soldiers of Allah around the world. ... The post-9/11 problem isn't whether we'll forget. The problem is: Will we ever learn?" --columnist Michelle Malkin Semper Vigilo, Fortis, Paratus et Fidelis! Smart diplomacy alert
12 Sep 2011
(Scott Johnson)
Based on a Times (UK) report that I can't find online, the news this morning is that the United States has approved a plan to let the Taliban open a "political headquarters" in Qatar. The Daily Mail story reports: "The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is likely to open a base in Qatar before Christmas, The Times said." Further: "The Gulf state is believed to have agreed to let the group have a base after Washington decided that it should be located away from the influence of Pakistan."
I hesitate to say more until some reliable report confirms that the Obama administration actually supports this scheme. At this point I will only say that, if true, I suppose we have to be happy that the administration hasn't invited the Taliban to set up shop in the United States.

Pro-sharia lobby shifts into high gear
The commentary by Alyssa Lappen which recently appeared in Family Security Matters (see below, highlights added), provides more insight into how the enablers and apologists for sharia law are pulling out the stops to slow down our momentum.
The Tennessee bills Ms. Lappen refers to below were passed, with bipartisan support, in large part thanks to the efforts of ACT! for America's grassroots leadership and network in Tennessee.
Our opponents are firing back because they see us succeeding. No wonder they are desperate and running scared.

Sharia Lobby Shifts into Fifth Gear
Slow down, moving too fast, got to make the U.S. last...
Alyssa A. Lappen
Sharia advocates desperately want to convince legislators and the public that Islamic law is plain vanilla --- and totally nonthreatening to existing U.S. legal codes. Notwithstanding a nationwide Muslim Brotherhood-backed pro-sharia push, nothing could be further from the truth.
"There are many unpleasant doctrines within Islam," including its "repugnant" criminal code, honor killings, female genital cutting, and a Quranic verse Muslim clerics often cite, proclaiming "wives as a tilth unto you" (2:223), to deny the existence of marital rape. [1] Read more:

Fellow Patriots, Back in the early 70s, Mad Magazine used to run a comic series called "You can't win with a bigot." Today, we're witnessing an Islamic version of the same concept, where we infidel Americans are damned no matter what we do. During the Clinton administration, America's response to al Qaeda's attacks were tepid and ineffectual, leading to an escalation of attacks that culminated in the destruction of the Twin Towers and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. In response, President Bush decided to take the war to the enemy and attacked al Qaeda and its protector, the Taliban. Now, as the article below reveals, Pakistanis interpreted Bush's response as a "War on Islam," and blame the U.S. for all of the turmoil roiling the Islamic world today. Note that Pakistan's problems stem from U.S. action in Afghanistan and do not involve Iraq. In other words, if America responds ineffectually to al Qaeda's attacks, our behavior is interpreted as weakness, inviting further attacks, and If America responds effectively to the al Qaeda attacks, we're accused of declaring a war on Islam. I guess it would never occur to these people that the true source of the conflict is Muslims declaring war on the United States in the name of Islam. Sure glad we spend all those billions of dollars on aid to Pakistan, in the name of building goodwill... Meanwhile, MSNBC News bends over backwards to make the "You can't win with a Muslim" narrative appear valid. Here we see Ann Curry do public relations work for Iran on the day after 9/11, as she joins President Ahmadinejad to follow "A day in the life of Iran's President" --> http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/44483606#44483606 , as Iran reports that it's bringing it's nuclear power plant on-line --> http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44486414/ns/business-oil_and_energy/ And to convince us that infidel Americans really ARE the source of all the world's ills, you can also see MSNBC News the American response to the 9/11 attacks for all of the unrest we now see in the Middle East --> http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/44449735#44449735 and http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/44451790#44451790 -- on September 12. How 9/11 changed Pakistan

Veteran journalist Fakhar Rehman reports from Pakistan's tribal areas. He believes many people in his homeland saw the U.S. reaction to 9/11 as an attack on Islam.
By Fakhar Rehman, NBC News
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - When I turned on my television at home on September 11, 2001, I was stunned to see passenger planes hitting symbols of America's financial and military strength.
My journalistic instincts kicked in and I contacted Sohail Shaheen, the Taliban Embassy spokesman in
Islamabad. "Are you watching TV?" I asked him. His reply was, "No." I explained the breaking news that was unfolding on-air. He denied the Taliban were involved. I told him to get ready - the whole world would soon be focusing on Afghanistan. At the time, I did not realize that the focus would eventually turn to my own country of Pakistan.
Thousands pay respects to 9/11 victims
Covering the "War on Terror" as a Pakistani journalist over the last decade, I've found myself in many unexpected situations. One week after the U.S. invaded Afghanistan, I received a call from the Taliban to pick up my visa from their Embassy in Islamabad. Once there, I was told they were taking me to Jalalabad - immediately. I called my family, got on the bus with the Taliban and spent the next three days wearing the same clothes while interviewing Taliban members and reporting from Afghanistan. Thank God, I returned home safely.

Rumsfeld Ends NYT Subscription Over 9/11 Column
Monday, 12 Sep 2011
By Marti Lotman
New York Times columnist Paul Krugman's most recent piece calling 9/11 "an occasion for shame," has elicited the ire of former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to the point that he has canceled his office's subscription to the publication, reports the Daily Caller. "After reading Krugman's repugnant piece on 9/11, I canceled my subscription to the New York Times this AM," Rumsfeld's office tweeted earlier this morning. Rumsfeld's chief of staff Keith Urbahn clarified that although the former Secretary of Defense had cancelled his personal subscription years ago, his office still held a subscription, that is until he read Krugman's column.

The Years of Shame by Paul Krugman
Is it just me, or are the 9/11 commemorations oddly subdued?
Actually, I don't think it's me, and it's not really that odd.
What happened after 9/11 - and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not - was deeply shameful. The atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons.
A lot of other people behaved badly. How many of our professional pundits - people who should have understood very well what was happening - took the easy way out, turning a blind eye to the corruption and lending their support to the hijacking of the atrocity?
The memory of 9/11 has been irrevocably poisoned; it has become an occasion for shame. And in its heart, the nation knows it.
I'm not going to allow comments on this post, for obvious reasons.

It was my privilege to participate in the outpouring of pain, memory, and truth at the profoundly moving Freedom Rally, organized by AFDI leader Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch. As we recalled the agony of that horrific day, Sept. 11, 2001, we stressed that it is important not to forgive or forget and to outspokenly name the enemy - radical Islam - which declared war on America and the world on that fateful day. The following report is from Fern Sidman, NY correspondent for ARUTZ SHEVA.

Over 500 at Defiant Freedom Rally Near Ground Zero
Helen Freedman: "Obama world is promoting engagement of Islam as a peaceful religion, while war is being waged under our noses."
Fern Sidman
On Sunday afternoon, September 11th, over 500 people gathered at Park Place and West Broadway in lower Manhattan to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon that left close to 3000 Americans dead.
Organized by the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), a human rights organization headed by author and activist Pamela Geller, (who achieved notoriety for spearheading the campaign against the construction of a mosque at Ground Zero), the 9/11 Freedom Rally featured members of the clergy, New York City firefighters and police, 9/11 first responders, and 9/11 family members who were barred and/or not invited to the official ceremonies that took place earlier in the day.The decision to exclude religious leaders, rescue workers, police officers and other key first responders as program participants was defended by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg who said,:"We just don't have room for them", claiming space and security are the issues.
In a tone of defiance AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller declared, "While White House guidelines forbid official 9/11 ceremonies from mentioning who attacked the U.S. on that day or why, our 9/11 Freedom Rally features more honest speakers. We are here today to honor our war dead and stand for freedom and against the deception and lies being used to subdue us. We must show the jihadists we are unbowed in the defense of freedom."
Joined by Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch, Ms. Geller introduced such speakers as George Demos, New York Congressional candidate, Anders Gravers of Stop Islamisation of Europe (SIOE); Sudanese ex-slave and freedom fighter Simon Deng; war hero and North Carolina Congressional candidate Ilario Pantano; popular radio host Joyce Kaufman; and Helen Freedman, Executive Director of Americans For a Safe Israel (AFSI), among many others.Speaking on behalf of the 9/11 family members were Rosaleen Tallon, sister of hero firefighter and reservist in the United States Marine Corps, Sean Tallon, who was killed in the 9/11 attacks; Nelly Braginskaya, who lost her son Alex; Sally Regenhard, mother of hero firefighter Christian Regenhard, killed in the 9/11 attacks (Regenhard is an American activist who has become one of the leading voices for the families of the victims of September 11); Maureen and Al Santora, who lost their hero fightfighter son 9/11 and Alan DeVona, 911 first responder.
Reflecting on political realities that have been engendered over the last 10 years and taking aim at the current adminstration in Washington for its directives to whitewash the true motives of the 9/11 attackers, Helen Freedman of Americans For a Safe Israel said, "The Obama leadership today would still like us to be asleep. We are lulled with the myths of mindless multi-culturalism. Interfaith dialogues are encouraged to promote inter-denominational understanding. In today's modern world, there has been no lack of understanding amongst Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, and so forth. What the Obama world is promoting is engagement and understanding of Islam as a peaceful religion, deserving of having its mosques built throughout the United States; its chaplains preaching in our prisons, everyone respecting the sanctity of the Koran, while all along the war is being waged under our noses." |

Another Day
Father's Day, Mother's Day, Veteran's Day, President's Day, Grandparent's Day (which also happens to be on the eleventh of this month) and finally September 11. A day when we discharge our obligation to remember and honor something very important and move on. Grief, tragedy, loss-- those are the words drifting like pale ashes in the cold autumn air. Tears, sorrow and downward glances. Like mourners at an annual funeral we troop down to the holes in the earth, gaze down into the missing coffin though the bodies have long since been dumped, and we weep or stare straight ahead looking for something that we lost. September 11 is the day we lost. Lost our self-assurance, our sense of invulnerability, our loved ones, our towers and our optimism. And we gained surprisingly little. Like Londoners in the Blitz, it was in our grasp for a moment. That sense of camaraderie that comes from being a nation under fire. A city filled with ethnic rivalries ever since the Dutch and the English taunted one another on streetcorners where everyone values their personal space, suddenly became one. We had all lost, but we also had a common enemy. We were at war.

Headless In America On 10th Anniversary of 9/11 GrassTopsUSA Exclusive Commentary By Don Feder 09/12/2011
On the 10th anniversary of a date which will live in something or other (according to our president), it is well to recall what we learned from the bloodiest terrorist attack on American soil.
We'll never forget! Forget what? I don't remember. No, wait a minute, now I've got it. The lessons of 9/11 are:
1. Islam is the religion of peace, love and extreme groovyness.
With almost a sick desperation, we mindlessly intone the mantra, "Islam is a religion of peace."

Cal Thomas Reasons to Remember 9-11
The show business publication "Variety" reports "40-plus programs expected to commemorate 10th anniversary of (9-11) attacks." And those are just the specials. They don't include reports within news programs, or overseas TV memorials, which began last month.
How we love our anniversaries. Whether it's "the Maine," "Pearl Harbor" or "9-11" we choose to remember, the question is "Why?" Why remember? To honor the dead? Yes, that is a good reason. How about to remember loved ones and survivors? That, too, is commendable.
All of this, though, is about looking back, not forward. It is only by looking forward that we can avoid, or at least limit, the possibility of another major terrorist attack, which many believe is coming.

RJC: NY-9 Illustrates Obama's Problem in Jewish Community
Special election is a bellwether of Jewish discontent with his policies.
NY-9 is most Jewish district in U.S.
Washington, D.C. (September 12, 2011) -- Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) Executive Director Matt Brooks issued the following comments today:
"No matter who wins in the special election in New York's 9th congressional district on Tuesday," Brooks said, "this race highlights the serious problems that President Obama has in the Jewish community because of his policies regarding Israel. Without question, Obama's policies are causing significant numbers of Jewish voters to re-examine their loyalty to the Democratic Party.
"Given recent polling and the DNC's own emphasis on Jewish messaging, putting Jewish outreach on a par with jobs and healthcare as one of Democratic leaders' top concerns, it is clear that Democratic leaders are panicked about the erosion of support in the Jewish community. The fact that they have to spend time and resources shoring up what is normally a solid Democratic core constituency underscores the challenges they are facing."
"Regardless of who wins on Tuesday," Brooks concluded, "Jewish voters in NY-9 will send a clear message to President Obama and the Democratic Party on that day. We expect it be the first in a series of powerful messages about the outrage and concern in the Jewish community over this administration's troubling Israel policies."
Background:
- The Democrats hold a 3:1 registration advantage over Republicans there.
- The Democrat running for that seat, David Weprin, has publicly distanced himself from the President's failed Israel policies.
- The Republican, Bob Turner, has campaigned heavily on his strong pro-Israel position and currently leads in the polls.
- Former NY Mayor Ed Koch made this race a referendum on Pres. Obama's policies when he endorsed the Republican candidate and called on voters to send a message to the President with their vote in this race.
- NY State Assembly member Dov Hikind, another prominent New York Democrat, also crossed party lines to endorse Bob Turner.
Recent developments:
- The RJC has reached out to Jewish voters in the 9th district with a massive effort, mailing every Jewish household in the district two postcards. One features Ed Koch's statement:
"If Jewish New Yorkers and others who support Israel were to turn away from the Democratic Party and elect the Republican candidate to Congress in 2011, it might very well cause President Obama to change his hostile position on the State of Israel and to re-establish the special relationship presidents before him had supported." (NY Post, July 12, 2011)
- The second quotes Golda Koppelman, a lifelong Democrat who will be voting for Bob Turner to send a message to President Obama:
"I have never voted for a Republican in my life" she says. But in this election, "I don't even care who the Democrat is; I am voting Republican to show Obama I am upset with his policy on Israel." (Jerusalem Post, August 30, 2011)

Zero's zero speech can't stop our passive-aggressive economic boycott
Sep 12, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins
By Basil Irwin, staff writer
A good friend asked me the morning of Obama's dog and pony show before the joint session of Congress last Thursday if I thought his speech would have any impact on the investment markets.
I laughed a bit at the naivety of the question, but responded that the markets would have zero reaction to Zero's zero speech. Everyone already knew it would just be more political posturing because there would be nothing new, and certainly nothing that would have any impact, positive or negative. There would be just more calls for more Klueless Kenyan Keynesian deficit government spending on crony capitalism and other boondoggles which fortunately wouldn't pass the current Congress anyway.
Anybody with any sense already knows the problem with the economy is Obama himself and his fascist economic policies, and nothing will get any better until he's gone. Everybody with any skin in the game has already left ... Continue Reading:Zero's zero speech can't stop our passive-aggressive economic boycott

I have a great plan for "saving" Social Security.
Today's average U.S. life expectancy is 78 years. Let's make the retirement age to collect Social Security 79.
Presto. The "system" is saved (or until life expectancy increases, at which point we can raise the retirement age again).
Pretty dumb? Sure. But if the goal is "saving" the system, nothing would work better.
Wait a minute you say. It's not about the "system" but about saving me, my children, my grandchildren, my neighbors. It's about making individuals better off.
But if the point is making individuals better off, why do we only hear assurances from most politicians that they will "save the system?"
The "solution" that I have proposed here is one extreme example how Social Security, if we insist on keeping it as it is today, can be "saved."

Obama's Stimulus II-What's the Point?
Today the Obama administration announced that its Stimulus II bill, as yet unseen but introduced to Congress and the voters last week, will be paid for entirely by tax increases-approximately $450 billion worth. This illustrates the disarray in which the administration finds itself. In Obama's speech to Congress last week, he indicated that it would be up to the Congressional committee that is charged with finding $1.5 trillion in future cuts to find another $450 billion to fund the current stimulus proposal. That idea is apparently no longer operative.
Which leaves one wondering: what is the point? Read more: September 12, 2011 by John Hinderaker Obama: Trapped in the Keynesian Twilight Zone

September 12, 2011 by John Hinderaker Romney Takes On Union Thuggery
Unions have traditionally been relatively popular with Americans, but that is changing rapidly. And virtually no one approves of the bullying tactics that are generally associated with unions. So Mitt Romney is doing a smart thing, I think-not to mention a good thing-in taking on the unions, and tying them to President Obama. His campaign released this video yesterday, as part of its Obama Isn't Working theme:
Romney tends toward blandness and needs to find ways to give his campaign a harder edge; this strikes me as a good one.

Monday, September 12, 2011 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer Pass This Bill Now - NOT! From Day One of his presidency, Barack Obama has expressed one consistent theme - he wants his proposals passed -- NOW!! He demanded Congress act immediately on his stimulus bill. He insisted Obamacare be made law even before members of Congress could read it. And now with his new "jobs bill" he is demanding immediate action by Republicans because "America can't wait." Oh, yes, we can wait. And, yes, Congress should wait. There is nothing new in Obama's legislative proposal that is likely to work any better than his other "job creation" ideas. The legislation is a hodge-podge of temporary tax cuts, bail outs for state and local governments and public service unions and infrastructure spending. It totals, by White House estimates, $450 billion in new spending. Economists friendly to the White House are suggesting that if it is passed it could create two million new jobs. I doubt it. But let's assume that is true. That works out to roughly $223,000 per job. It would be cheaper just to send everyone a check! Where is the money coming from, Mr. President? Obama told Congress that his proposal is paid for and that it won't add one extra dollar to the deficit. But he has yet to send a budget to Capitol Hill that explains where he will pick up the extra half-trillion in spending. Rhetorically, he's pointing to new taxes on "billionaires and millionaires and oil companies," his three favorite targets. There are dozens of things Obama could do that would make it more likely that investors, entrepreneurs and business will start making the hiring and investment decisions that result in economic growth. He could push for tax cuts and repeal the thousands of pages of job-killing regulations his appointees have imposed on the free market. He could stop his class warfare rhetoric and lay off his demonizing of major American industries. None of these things are in his proposed legislation because they don't fit in his Big Government/socialist worldview. Republicans in Congress should hold hearings and cherry-pick any good ideas that accidentally made it into the bill. But there is no reason for them to panic and pass another budget-busting, Big Government mess dreamed up by the Leftwing ideologues that run the Obama administration. New York Upset? New York's 9th Congressional District has long been a liberal stronghold. Both Al Gore and John Kerry comfortably won the district, which includes parts of Queens and Brooklyn, in their respective presidential elections. Barack Obama won it by 11 percentage points in 2008. Its last two congressmen were Chuck Schumer and Anthony Weiner, two of liberalism's biggest blowhards. As you probably remember, Weiner resigned in disgrace in June after lying about posting lewd photos of himself on the internet. The special election to replace him takes place tomorrow. The Republican nominee is leading in the polls, and Democrats concede that President Obama is the main reason why. Republican Bob Turner is narrowly leading Democrat David Weprin according to the most recent polls. The Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling shows Turner ahead 47% to 41%. This even though Weprin, a New York State assemblyman, has received more money from his national party and outraised his Republican opponent. If Turner wins, it will be seen as a Scott Brown-like indictment of the Obama administration's record and agenda. Despite having won the district three years ago, Obama maintains the support of only 31 percent of the district's residents. Much of Obama's deteriorating support in the district can be attributed to his handling of Israel. The district has a significant Orthodox Jewish population. And the election is being seen by some as a referendum on Obama's Israel policy. Ashan Sheinkopf, a Democratic consultant in New York, told the Washington Post, "Obama wins no popularity contests here." Some local Democrats have even endorsed Turner because of Obama's failures. "The whole national debate has moved away from what the Republicans have done with Medicare to the national dialogue that the president hasn't been able to talk about the economy effectively and that hurts congressional Democrats," a top Democratic strategist told The Hill newspaper. In August, Weprin even suggested he might not support Obama's presidential re-election bid. Also on Tuesday, a special election will be held to fill Nevada's 2nd Congressional District seat. Polls show Republican Mark Amodei leading Democrat Kate Marshall by 13 points, 50% to 37%. Amodei has linked Marshall to Obama as a congresswoman who would "rubber stamp" his policies. In 2008, Democrats across the country rode Obama's coattails to victory. Now, after three years of failed policies, they can't seem to distance themselves from him fast enough. The Mourning After In his will, Osama bin Laden predicted that the 9/11 attacks "will mark the beginning of the wiping out of America and the infidel West after the passing of tens of years, God willing." It's been 10 years, and America is, in some important ways, weaker than we were a decade ago. But, as I write in my Human Events column today, whether, tens of years from now, we will have been wiped out depends as much on the strength of our spirit as on the strength of our economy and military. You can read my column at Human Events.

Rohrer Looking to Get in vs. Casey
By Keegan Gibson, Managing Editor
Rohrer speaks at the PA Leadership Conference in April
Sam Rohrer is looking to get in the race against U.S. Senator Bob Casey, the former State Rep. and gubernatorial candidate told PoliticsPA Friday afternoon.
"My effort to get the pieces I need to have in order to do this, I am pursuing 100 percent," he confirmed.
He stopped short of saying his candidacy was a certainty, citing a few outstanding issues.
"There are a couple of factors that must come together for me to make the final decision to enter, and those are in process."
Chief among them, he said, is the fundraising outlook - a key question in a Senate campaign that many analysts expect will require upwards of $20 million.

Urge President Obama to Support Unemployed Pennsylvania Workers Over Illegal Aliens
Recently, various officials within the Obama Administration have announced a plan to suspend the deportation orders of 300,000 illegal aliens (many residing in Pennsylvania) that have already been issued by a U.S. court of law. In addition to being allowed to stay in the country, each of these 300,000 illegal aliens may also be eligible for work visas, allowing them to live and work legally in states like Pennsylvania, taking away employment opportunities from Pennsylvania residents who are unable to find a full-time job.
Once again, President Obama has put the desires of the pro-amnesty movement above the Pennsylvania citizens he has taken an oath to protect. Such a policy cannot be allowed to stand. More must be done to limit the presence of illegal aliens in Pennsylvania's workforce. Please don't delay. Send this critical message to President Obama today, urging him to do more to protect vulnerable Pennsylvania workers from illegal aliens. This is a completely free service. There is no cost to you.
Send free fax here: Dear President Obama, I was outraged to learn you are offering an amnesty to illegal aliens through Executive Actions! If you have any respect for the American people, you will not follow through on this plan. According to Cecilia Munoz, your Director of Intergovernmental Relations: Authorities "will be applying common sense guidelines to make [deportation] decisions, like a person's ties and contributions to the community, their family relationships and military service record.... In the end, this means more immigration enforcement pressure where it counts the most, and less where it doesn't -- that's the smartest way to follow the law while we stay focused on working with the Congress to fix it." How will keeping illegal aliens in the country, whatever the reason, help jobless Americans find work? Clearly it will not. Indeed, it will make the plight of unemployed Americans even worse and put even more Americans out of work. You need to get with the program and realize that Americans do not want an amnesty for illegal aliens! Please start enforcing the law and make sure illegal aliens do not receive amnesties and are not allowed to take U.S. jobs. There are 22 million Americans unable to find a full-time job. Please do not let them down. Sincerely, (Your Name Will Appear Here)

Liberal polling group- 'Tuner poised for big upset ' in NY-9 race
Article by our friend Kerry Picket
The Democratic leaning Public Policy Polling group released numbers on Sunday night on New York's 9th Congressional District special election between Republican businessman Bob Turner and Democratic Assemblyman David Weprin.
According to their polling, Turner is "poised to pull a huge upset" for the seat that former Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner held until recently. Like the Siena College poll PPP puts Turner ahead of Weprin by six points. Turner also has a higher favorable rating than Weprin does by by that same same percentage.

Democrats fret aloud over Obama's chances
Dems not so sure he's going for two-terms
Democrats are expressing growing alarm about President Obama's re-election prospects and, in interviews, are openly acknowledging anxiety about the White House's ability to strengthen the president's standing over the next 14 months.
Elected officials and party leaders at all levels said their worries have intensified as the economy has displayed new signs of weakness. They said the likelihood of a highly competitive 2012 race is increasing as the Republican field, once dismissed by many Democrats as too inexperienced and conservative to pose a serious threat, has started narrowing to two leading candidates, Mitt Romney and Rick Perry, who have executive experience and messages built around job creation

Employers won't take the bait
The dismal state of the economy is the main reason many companies are reluctant to hire workers, and few executives are saying that President Obama's jobs plan - while welcomed - will change their minds any time soon.
That sentiment was echoed across numerous industries by executives in companies big and small on Friday, underscoring the challenge for the Obama administration as it tries to encourage hiring and perk up the moribund economy.

Heritage Action Releases Legislative Scorecard
Conservative Scorecard Doesn't Grade on a Curve
Washington - On Thursday, Heritage Action for America unveiled its legislative scorecard, a comprehensive and revealing barometer of a lawmaker's willingness to fight for conservative policies in Congress.
"With each vote cast in Congress, freedom either advances or recedes," Heritage Action's CEO Michael A. Needham said. "Heritage Action's scorecard will empower Americans to hold their Members of Congress accountable to conservative principles."
"I am so thrilled that Heritage Action for America is doing a legislative scorecard," South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said. "It is time now that we look at the spending habits of our legislators. It's time that we look at what they're doing with debt. It's time that we look at how they're spending taxpayer money."
"We are tough graders and we don't apologize for it," Needham continued. "After all, we are conservatives, not tenured university professors."
Heritage Action's legislative scorecard currently encompasses 30 votes and 5 co-sponsorship scores in the House and 19 votes and 4 co-sponsorship scores in the Senate. The votes cover the full spectrum of conservatism, and include legislative action on issues both large and small. 13 Senators and 27 Representatives received scores above 85%.
"Americans are lucky to have a strong core of rock-solid conservative Congressmen and Senators, but if we are to save the American dream for our children and grandchildren, more lawmakers must be willing to fight for conservative policies with every single vote," Needham concluded.
As Congress votes, Heritage Action will continue to update the scorecard in near real time, providing people with information, show them why it matters and enable easy sharing to spread the word. Along with Heritage Action's other tools, it will allow Americans to hold their Members of Congress accountable and ensure they are fighting for freedom, opportunity, prosperity, and civil society.

Susan's Paul Ryan Medicare Pamphlet - please print this and give it to your contacts
SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
- maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
- provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
- Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
- If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
- And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

Al Jazeera wasn't the only news outlet criticizing the way we remembered the biggest tragedy in our nation's recent history - The New York Times chose to dedicate some space to bash George W. Bush, Rudy Giuliani, and others who stepped up to lead on that tragic day. For some reason, Krugman decided that it was appropriate to use his column to play partisan politics and divide us as a nation rather than as an opportunity to promote remembrance and unity - that's a real occasion for shame. Glenn gave his thoughts on Krugman's column on radio - WATCH.
2009 or 2011: Which Stimulus is it? The new game show on the Glenn Beck program asks listeners to guess whether Obama is talking his 2009 stimulus or the 2011 "job's plan". This might be the toughest game out there because they are pretty much the same thing. Watch the guys play on radio HERE!
What did the Beck's do to remember 9/11?
Glenn gave an intimate look into how he and his family remembered the tragedy and sacrifice of 9/11. Here's a hint - it did NOT involve calling anything a "shame" or saying it was time to move on. It DID involve thanking some of the real heroes. Glenn gives an intimate look at what he did - WATCH.
WSJ: GBTV outpaces Oprah (and the new show hasn't even started!): The Blaze reported: Many people thought Glenn Beck might have been a little bit crazy (little bit?) to leave the safety and support of traditional cable television to launch his internet-based GBTV enterprise. But the news from the Wall Street Journal today may cause even the critics some pause. Get the full story HERE.
Making of B.S. of A.: Brian Sack's "B.S. of A." debuts tonight as part of the new "Glenn Beck" two hour show, and he decided to give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at his own creative process. Sadly, Brian found out his new producer, Jack, isn't quite the comedic genius he said he was on his resume. What went wrong? WATCH.
