Illinois Man Faces 75 Years in Jail for Filming Police

In many states, you can record police in public spaces without their consent, but one Illinois man is facing 75 years in prison for doing just that.
What exactly did he do? The man, Michael Allison, recorded police officers on duty in his front yard inspecting vehicles he was repairing.
Allison was fined for failing to register the vehicles, and so he requested an ordinance hearing, and once again he brought his camera into the court and hit record.
For those simple acts, Allison is facing five felony charges calling for 15 years in prison per each count- a possible total of 75 years. If found guilty, he could easily spend the rest of his life behind bars for "eavesdropping."

Tsunami Warning Issued After 7.1 Quake Recorded Off of Alaskan Coast

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A tsunami warning is in effect for parts of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the ocean.
The USGS says the earthquake struck in the waters at about 6:55 a.m. Eastern, and there are no initial reports of injuries or damage.
The tsunami warning is in effect for coastal areas of Alaska from Unimak Pass to Amchitka Pass. The areas are very remote and not heavily populated, according to Jessica Sigala, geophysicist with the USGS in Golden, Colo.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds
So, here's what we need you to do .

NEW YORK, July 6: The human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) will be hosting its second annual 9/11 Freedom Rally on September 11 at 3pm at Park Place and West Broadway.
Free citizens are coming from all over the U.S. to attend the rally. "It is crucial to stand for freedom on this tenth anniversary of the heinous 9/11 jihad attacks," said AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller. "We must show the jihadists we are unbowed in the defense of freedom."
AFDI and its Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) program are encouraging all Americans to stand against the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero and the anti-Semitic Durban III conference that will be held in New York City at the same time, and for American values on the tenth anniversary of the worst attack ever on American soil.
The confirmed list of speakers includes 9/11 family members Alexander and Maureen Santora, who lost their firefighter son Christopher; Sally Regenhard, whose son Christian was killed on 9/11; Nelly Braginsky, who lost her son Alexander; and others.

On its own, TUSIF, for Wednesday, September 7th, has arranged for a great singer Elizabeth Salvatico and her impressive band to play a range of songs including both Salsa and of course patriotic songs to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of 9/11. At the same event, TUSIF is hosting Mr. Bivona to speak; he was a first-responder on September 11.

There is no one else in local media who matches Dom when it comes to standing up for Israel, patriotism and integrity. Dom has taken on guests and callers on 1210 AM WPHT Radio who distort the facts about Israel, and he goes out of his way to speak truthfully about the Arab war against the Jews because it is the right thing to do.
Rabbi Kazan has been a fervent champion of Israel and has inspired generations of local Jews to have a place in their heart for the Jewish State. Please come to our Constitution Day event entitled "Everything you wanted to know about ObamaCare, but didn't know who to ask."
They said we had to pass it to know what's in it, but over a year later, people STILL don't fully understand how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) - aka "ObamaCare" - will affect them and their health.
That's why a coalition of citizens and health care professionals will present "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About ObamaCare But Didn't Know Who to Ask" on the campus of DeSales University in Center Valley, PA from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 - which, ironically, happens to be Constitution Day. DeSalesUniversity is located in the Lehigh Valley of PA, within easy driving distance of the major population centers of central, northeast, and southeast PA.
Policy professionals, physicians, business and legislative leaders, and representatives from groups most affected by the PPACA will share their insights and expertise through presentations, breakout sessions, exhibits, and panel discussions.
They'll explain how ObamaCare affects personal liberty and the Constitution, families and seniors, taxpayers, Medicare and the deficit, insurance premiums and the uninsured, businesses, employees and the economy, doctors, patients, and access to care, American innovation in medicine, and more.
Also included will be detailed updates on state and national efforts to defund, repeal, replace, and nullify ObamaCare from some of the legislative leaders spearheading those efforts.
Participants will leave the three hour event far more informed about what's in the PPACA than most of the legislators who voted for it, and will be energized to get involved in the fight to save America's health care. Participants, both live and online, will be empowered by their new understanding of how the PPACA will not accomplish any of the things its name implies, and will be able to effectively communicate that new understanding to others, providing important education about why this ill-conceived piece of legislation needs to be defeated by any means possible.
Already, according to Rasmussen's most recent poll, 54% of Americans want to see ObamaCare repealed, while only 39% oppose repeal - but the people who passed it clearly have not heard the voices of the American people yet. The more Americans know about the PPACA, the more they dislike it, and this conference will help to provide the tools citizen advocates and health care professionals need to effectively participate in the process to defund, repeal, and replace ObamaCare.

Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. 1. The Ad Campaign
I have in my head an ad campaign I think the GOP should get ready to roll out for the general election, regardless of the nominee.
In Idaho, a man saw a female grizzly bear enter his backyard while his kids were playing in the back yard. He did the only reasonable thing he could. He got a gun and killed the bear. Then he immediately called the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. The federal government is now prosecuting him for killing the grizzly instead of letting it kill and eat his kids.
In Virginia, an 11 year old rescued a protected woodpecker species from the jaws of a cat and kept it in a cage to make sure it would survive. A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services official showed up on the family's front door step with a state trooper and ordered the girl's mother to appear in federal court on charges that could send her to jail for a year. Only an ensuing media backlash got the government to stand down.
Then there is the Gibson guitar case where the government, assuming the facts are as presented, wanted Gibson Guitar to create jobs, not in the United States, but in Madagascar and India.
There are the independent oil and gas companies in Louisiana shut down by Barack Obama taking advantage of the BP oil spill crisis to rid himself of Gulf of Mexico oil drillers.
The list goes on and on. So the ad would be very simple.
2. Solar Power Business Model Unsustainable
The Obama administration has been trying to foist green industry on uninterested Americans since he first stepped in to office three years ago. So far, the efforts have been less than successful. The Chevy Volt has miserable sales, wind-power has proven to be something less than a viable alternative, and now it appears that reality is catching up with solar power as well.
Solyndra is a solar panel maker that was propped up by the administration having been awarded over half a billion dollars in loan guarantees. Now, the company is going under and taking all that money and 1,100 employees jobs with it.
3. Shock National Journal Poll: Romney Staffers Think Romney Should be GOP Nominee
Earlier today National Journal released its latest poll of the opinions of Beltway insiders. According to the National Journal news story about the new poll, entitled "Insiders: GOP Would Be Better Off With Romney for 2012," many GOP insiders think Romney is a much better candidate than Rick Perry. What National Journal failed to inform its readers is that at least 30 of the 141 GOP operatives polled - nearly 25 percent of the GOP sample - currently work for Romney or worked for his 2008 presidential campaign. Only one insider was readily identified in a Google search as being a member of Team Perry.
4. The Euphocrats
Ever notice how adept the Democrats are at the use of euphemisms to try to hide their agenda? We've seen it a number of times recently: "revenue enhancements" instead of "tax increases" during the debt limit debate, or "balanced approach", which again hid the Obama agenda of jacking up taxes. How about the efforts of Debbie Wasserman-Schulz ("competitive option") and Nancy Pelosi ("consumer option") to hide the real Democrat agenda of governmental intrusion in private health insurance (the semi-euphemistic "public option"). Even the Harry Reid Democrats' use of "compromise" is a veiled attempt at hiding their agenda of "my way or the highway".
5. Nebraska Gov. Heineman to the Left of Obama Administration on Keystone Pipeline
After three years of cumbersome red tape, environmental impact studies, and endless litigation, the Canadian Keystone KL Pipeline extension project is close to obtaining final approval from the State Department. This $7 billion pipeline project, when completed, would transport over 700,000 barrels of oil per day from the Canadian tar sands in northeast Alberta to the hungry oil refineries on the Texas Gulf coast. This project, along with current imports, would deliver 10% of our energy needs from our most friendly ally, by using the safest, most efficient means of transportation; a pipeline.
Due to the international scope of this project, the State Department was required to sign off on its final approval. Despite the issuance of two favorable impact studies from the State Department, the EPA had refused to issue the requisite permits for this 1,800-mile pipeline - an endeavor that would create close to 120,000 primary and secondary jobs and generate $5.2 billion in property tax revenue for Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.

CAIR Caught in Gaddafi $ Web

A letter from the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, to Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi has added fuel to criticisms of the controversial group and what its critics say are some dubious fundraising tactics.
In the letter, obtained by Fox News and dated Sept. 23, 2009, CAIR executive director Nihad Awad asks Qaddafi for funding for a project called the Muslim Peace Foundation. Qaddafi was in New York attending the United Nations General Assembly.
Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., cited the letter Wednesday at a House Appropriations sub-committee hearing, during which Wolf asked FBI Director Robert Mueller about the FBI's relationship with CAIR. Mueller replied there "is no formal relationship with CAIR."
A translation of the letter, written originally in Arabic, says in part, "I am pleased to send to Your Excellency in my name most solemn assurances of thanks and appreciation for the efforts you exert in the service of Islam, Muslims and all mankind through your initiative to teach Islam, spread the culture of Islam, and solve disputes, for which you are known internationally."
This was long before the uprising in Libya this year, with international calls for Qaddafi to step down after a brutal crackdown on dissent that has escalated into a civil war with rebel forces.
But Wolf said the CAIR director's 2009 letter still was written with the full knowledge of the regime's brutal treatment of its opponents and its deplorable human rights record, as well as its long history of acts of international terrorism. And the congressman said the letter showed that Awad was in the process of setting up the Muslim Peace Foundation and seeking to raise $15 million.

The bill by Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the Republican chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, would demand that the UN let countries decide how much to pay and which programs they will support, rather than assessing payments based on a formula. Syria is burning, not because of the Arab Spring or Tyranny or Twitter, or any of the other popular explanations. The fire in Syria is the same firestorm burning in Iraq, in Turkey, in Lebanon and throughout much of the Muslim world. It has nothing to do with human rights or democracy. There is no revolution here. Only the eternal civil war. Most people accept countries with ancient names like Egypt, Jordan and Syria as a given. If they think about it at all they assume that they were always around, or were restored after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. But actually the countries of the Middle East are mostly artificial creations borrowing a history that is not their own. When Mohammed unleashed a fanatical round of conquests and crusades, he began by wrecking the cultures and religions of his native region. And his followers went on to do the same throughout the region and across the world. Entire peoples lost their history, their past, their religion and their way of life. This cultural genocide was worst in Africa, Asia and parts of Europe. But the Middle Eastern peoples lost much of their heritage as well.

They want democracy, but also envision an Islamic state ruled by Shariah, which they believe is Allah's just law meant for all mankind.
This, in a nutshell, defines the crisis of Islam: Muslims want two things that are inherently incompatible, but are so deeply indoctrinated in Islam that they cannot conceive of wanting to be ruled by man-made laws, which are the natural product of a democracy's legislative processes. They want the prosperity of democracy, but cannot accept the idea that just laws could come from any place other than Allah -- or rather, the Islamic Scholars who interpret the Koran and Hadiths for them and necessarily define the laws of an Islamic state.

September 1, 2011 Religious Freedom Threatened at Veterans' Burials The rifle salute, the solemn playing of Taps, and the presentation of the folded flag to family members are important, iconic rituals of a military funeral. During many veterans' burials, volunteers from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will also include recitation of a prayer and express condolences to the families of the deceased. At the Houston National Cemetery, however, mere mention of such unauthorized religious sentiment is being met with increasing official hostility and censorship.
The VFW District 4 performs the core elements of a traditional military burial during dozens of veterans' funerals at the Houston National Cemetery each month. Recently, however, the cemetery's administrators have balked at the VFW's recitation of a prayer that has been part of the Burial Ritual for almost 100 years. Only family members, according to new cemetery policy, may request that a prayer be said at a burial and, even then, the recitation must be approved by the cemetery's director.
Likewise, the cemetery's administrators prohibit volunteers from the National Memorial Ladies (NML) from handing out condolence cards to families that include the phrase "God bless you." The NML is a recently formed nonprofit whose members attend burials to, in their own words, "honor veterans and console their families." Antagonism by cemetery administrators to religious sentiment forced at least one woman to move her husband's funeral to a private chapel so that the VFW could perform the full burial rites.
Attempts by government administrators to whitewash any religious sentiment from the funeral services of veterans, especially when family members expect the full Burial Ritual, distort the design of American religious freedom and misconstrue the First Amendment's protection of freedom of-not from-religion.
As Heritage's Jennifer Marshall explains about the American model of religious freedom:
Far from privatizing religion, it assumes that religious believers and institutions will take active roles in society.... In fact, the American Founders considered religious engagement in shaping the public morality essential to ordered liberty and the success of their experiment in self-government.
Local chapters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion Post, and the National Memorial Ladies have filed suit against the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, requesting that the cemetery allow groups to honor the sacrifice of fallen soldiers with prayers for them and their loved ones.

WASHINGTON - The Muslim Students Association, or MSA, is one of the largest Islamic organizations in America, with chapters on hundreds of college campuses. It's alumni include doctors, lawyers and engineers.
But the group has another track record that it doesn't advertise: several of its leaders have been convicted of terrorism, prompting some terror experts to call the MSA a recruiting tool for jihad.
Although many Muslim and liberal groups complained about recent congressional hearings on homegrown Islamic radicalism, American-born Muslims are behind a growing number of terror plots -- a trend that Attorney General Eric Holder has said keeps him "up at night."

The Grand Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Rajab Mubajje, had a request last month for Rabbi Jon Cutler: Next time you make it to Kampala, bring a Chumash. During the same trip, the chief Islamic judge of Ethiopia, Sheikh Abdul Chello, made a similar appeal: Next visit, stay longer and teach me about Judaism.
Though educating East African Muslim leaders about Jews isn't at the top of Cutler's agenda, the senior chaplain for the United States Navy in the Horn of Africa thinks it's an added bonus of his work to promote religious tolerance in a potentially volatile corner of the globe.
The Flourtown resident, who three years ago was deployed as a military chaplain to Iraq where he tended to the spiritual needs of the wounded, is now tasked with a mission of a very different sort. Since January, the 26-year veteran of the Naval Reserves has been building relationships with key Christian and Muslim leaders in Djibouti, Ethopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and his recent swing through some of these countries, during the month of Ramadan, was part of that effort. Policy makers struggling to understand the barrage of financial panics, protests and other ills afflicting the world would do well to study the works of a long-dead economist: Karl Marx. The sooner they recognize we're facing a once-in-a-lifetime crisis of capitalism, the better equipped they will be to manage a way out of it.
The spirit of Marx, who is buried in a cemetery close to where I live in north London, has risen from the grave amid the financial crisis and subsequent economic slump. The wily philosopher's analysis of capitalism had a lot of flaws, but today's global economy bears some uncanny resemblances to the conditions he foresaw.

Judge blocks NM governor on immigrant driver licenses
Judge steps on NM state laws
A New Mexico judge on Wednesday blocked a move by the state's Republican governor to make it harder for illegal immigrants to keep driver's licenses in the state.
Governor Susana Martinez's administration last month ordered the state to reverify the physical residency of foreign nationals who hold New Mexico driver's licenses in order to get or keep their licenses.

Legislator in California set to pass a Dream Act
Only CA is allowed to have their own immigration laws?
The California Legislature is poised to pass a law that would allow illegal immigrants to receive state-financed aid for college. Known as the California Dream Act, the bill underscores the ways states are navigating their own way through controversial immigration issues, as the Obama administration has been unable to make headway on plans for an overhaul of immigration laws.
While the state law would do nothing to provide a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, it would provide them with more education benefits than they have in any other state. Advocates of the legislation say it would also send a powerful message to President Obama and Congress, forcing them to reconcile a patchwork of state laws that contradict one another.

As members of the Congressional Black Caucus converged in Los Angeles for its final national job fair series, one of its ranking members responded to his own previous inflammatory comments in Miami about the tea party, comparing their movement to Jim Crow laws that segregated and marginalized African Americans in society.

Solyndra, a major manufacturer of solar technology in Fremont, has shut its doors, according to employees at the campus.
"I was told by a security guard to get my [stuff] and leave," one employee said. The company employs a little more than 1,000 employees worldwide, according to its website.

Law professor Liu confirmed for California high court
Blocked from Fed bench, goes to CA
Goodwin Liu, a University of California law professor whose confirmation to a federal appeals court was blocked in the U.S. Senate, was confirmed on Wednesday to serve as a justice on California's top court.
A judicial appointments panel unanimously confirmed Liu, who had been nominated by Governor Jerry Brown to serve as a state Supreme Court justice in late July.

The Essential Question in Any Political Debate
The most important inquiry conservatives must posit in every policy debate: "What does our Constitution authorize and mandate?"
"The Constitution which at any time exists, 'till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole People is sacredly obligatory upon all." --George Washington
The most vital debate of the 2012 political cycle, indeed the essential question in any political debate, is one that you will not hear much about unless you are represented by one of the authentic conservatives who have carried the banner of the Reagan Revolution into the 21st century, or you are represented by one of those much-maligned Tea Party "radicals."
One unifying characteristic of the old guard and the new breed of senators and representatives is that they insist upon establishing the Essential Liberty and Rule of Law precedents as prerequisites for any political policy debate.
Our Constitution, as written and ratified, stipulates in its preface that it is "ordained and established" by the People in order to "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity." To that end, it established a representative republic, not a popular democracy, which is to say it affirmed the primacy of Rule of Law over rule of men.
Our Founders understood that the Rule of Law enshrined in our Constitution was the fundamental guarantee to protecting and sustaining Liberty for their, and our, posterity. Consequently, they prescribed that all elected officials be bound by Sacred Oath to "support and defend" our Constitution.
For presidents, Article II, Section 1, specifies: "Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation: 'I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.'"
Likewise Article VI, Clause 3 specifies: "The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution."
However, in the current political era, the vast majority of those elected to national office have abandoned their oaths in deference to political expediency and constituency. For this they should be duly prosecuted, one and all, for breach of oath and trust.

So archaic do they believe such queries to be that when asked, they insist, in the words of Patrick Leahy, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, "Nobody questions that."
But if Liberty is to be sustained by ballots rather than bullets, every conservative candidate must base his or her campaign platform upon restoration of our authentic Constitution and wholly reject the so-called "living constitution upon which Democrats have constructed their socialist empire.
For much of our nation's history, election cycles have been filled with rancorous political debates. Like today, many of those debates were focused on personalities and motivated by power seekers. The consequence has been an incremental erosion of constitutional authority, particularly by the Judicial Branch, which has amended our Constitution by judicial diktat rather than by the legitimate method prescribed in Article V.
James Madison wrote, "I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." However, the "gradual and silent" erosion has been punctuated with periodic landslides. Today, tyranny is hovering on the immediate horizon.
In the decades following our nation's founding, many of the great debates were centered on Liberty. The notions of containing the power of the central government and promoting individual freedom were fervently tested. But four major events in the years after 1850 altered the political debate and, tragically, increased the power of the central government far beyond its constitutional limits.
The first of those events was the War Between the States which cost 600,000 American lives and annulled the authority of our Constitution's mandate for Federalism. Unfortunately, today's "Republicans" tie their lineage to Abraham Lincoln, the man who engineered that frontal assault on states' rights.
The second major insult to Liberty came during the Great Depression, when Franklin Roosevelt and his "useful idiots" used the fear generated by economic crisis to implement his "New Deal," an explosive expansion of central government power that came at enormous offense to the authority of our Constitution.
The third colossal affront to our Constitution occurred under another Democrat, Lyndon Johnson, who implemented his "Great Society" programs in response to fears about social and economic inequality.
The fourth and final nail in the coffin of American Liberty is being hammered in by Barack Hussein Obama and his Leftist cadres. They are determined to replace our republican government with European-style Democratic Socialism, and they have made significant strides toward that terrible goal.
The only way to re-establish the primacy of Rule of Law over rule of men and reinstate limits upon our government and its controllers is to restore the authority of our Constitution. Only then will we ensure that Liberty prevails over tyranny.

That authority was, and remains, clearly defined by our Founders who, though they might have differed modestly on the question of constitutional interpretation, universally agreed with George Washington: "The basis of our political systems is the right of the people to make and to alter their Constitutions of Government. But the Constitution which at any time exists, 'till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole People is sacredly obligatory upon all."
Washington also wrote, "Should, hereafter, those incited by the lust of power and prompted by the supineness or venality of their constituents, overleap the known barriers of this Constitution and violate the unalienable rights of humanity: it will only serve to show, that no compact among men (however provident in its construction and sacred in its ratification) can be pronounced everlasting and inviolable, and if I may so express myself, that no Wall of words, that no mound of parchment can be so formed as to stand against the sweeping torrent of boundless ambition on the side, aided by the sapping current of corrupted morals on the other."
What did other Founders write about Rule of Law and the authority of our Constitution?
James Madison: "I entirely concur in the propriety of resorting to the sense in which the Constitution was accepted and ratified by the nation. In that sense alone it is the legitimate Constitution. And if that is not the guide in expounding it, there may be no security for a consistent and stable, more than for a faithful exercise of its powers. ... If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions." Thomas Jefferson: "Our peculiar security is in the possession of a written Constitution. Let us not make it a blank paper by construction. ... To consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional questions [is] a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy. ... The Constitution has erected no such single tribunal, knowing that to whatever hands confided, with the corruptions of time and party, its members would become despots. ... The opinion which gives to the judges the right to decide what laws are constitutional and what not, not only for themselves in their own sphere of action but for the Legislature and Executive also in their spheres, would make the Judiciary a despotic branch. ... On every question of construction carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed. ... [C]onfidence is every where the parent of despotism; free government is founded in jealousy and not in confidence; it is jealousy & not confidence which prescribes limited constitutions to bind down those whom we are obliged to trust with power ... in questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the constitution." Alexander Hamilton: "[T]here is not a syllable in the [Constitution] which directly empowers the national courts to construe the laws according to the spirit of the Constitution, or which gives them any greater latitude in this respect than may be claimed by the courts of every State. ... The Judiciary ... has no influence over either the sword or the purse; no direction either of the strength or of the wealth of the society, and can take no active resolution whatever. It may truly be said to have neither force nor will. ... If it be asked, 'What is the most sacred duty and the greatest source of our security in a Republic?' The answer would be, an inviolable respect for the Constitution and Laws -- the first growing out of the last. ... A sacred respect for the constitutional law is the vital principle, the sustaining energy of a free government. ... [T]he present Constitution is the standard to which we are to cling. Under its banners, bona fide must we combat our political foes -- rejecting all changes but through the channel itself provides for amendments." John Adams: "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. ... The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People. ... [T]hey may change their Rulers, and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty. ... A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever." Article VI of our Constitution proclaims: "This Constitution ... shall be the supreme Law of the Land." The definitive reflection on constitutional authority comes from Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, a Madison appointee, in his "Commentaries on the Constitution" (1833): "The constitution of the United States is to receive a reasonable interpretation of its language, and its powers, keeping in view the objects and purposes for which those powers were conferred. By a reasonable interpretation, we mean, that in case the words are susceptible of two different senses, the one strict, the other more enlarged, that should be adopted which is most consonant with the apparent objects and intent of the Constitution. ... Temporary delusions, prejudices, excitements, and objects have irresistible influence in mere questions of policy. And the policy of one age may ill suit the wishes or the policy of another. The constitution is not subject to such fluctuations. It is to have a fixed, uniform, permanent construction. It should be, so far at least as human infirmity will allow, not dependent upon the passions or parties of particular times, but the same yesterday, to-day, and forever." The last best hope for the restoration of our Constitution's original intent is upon us. Accordingly, a revival of its prescribed limits on the central government rests on the shoulders of those wise enough to educate themselves to the principles of Essential Liberty and bold enough to make constitutional authority the centerpiece of any political debate. At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, a citizen asked Benjamin Franklin what form of government the Founders had created. He responded, "A republic, if you can keep it." Indiana Congressman Andre Carson accused the Tea Party of being racist in a recent town hall meeting in Miami, Florida. His comments have ignited a national debate.
Rep. Carson was speaking at a town hall meeting conducted by the Congressional Black Caucus when he said that some other members of Congress want to go back 50 or 60 years with regard to race relations. The Carson remarks were made 9 days ago but just popped up on YouTube. He's off camera for most of them. "This is the effort we're seeing of Jim Crow," he says in the video. "Some of these folks in Congress right now would love to see us as second class citizens and some of them in Congress right now with the Tea Party movement would love to see you and me hanging on a tree."

Republican Congressman Allen West, who Wednesday morning indicated he was considering quitting the Congressional Black Caucus over the remarks, is now formally calling on the caucus to condemn the remarks.
Appearing on "Fox & Friends" Wednesday morning, Rep. West, who is also a member of the Tea Party Caucus, said he might drop out of the CBC. He cited Rep. Carson's remarks about "lynching," and also the statement by Rep. Maxine Waters that "Tea Party can go straight to hell."

Blacks Call for Democrat Carson to Resign Over Tea Party 'Hanging' Slam

A wide spectrum of black conservatives expressed outrage Wednesday at Rep. Andre Carson's remark that tea party members would like to see black people "hanging on a tree" - and some even called on Carson to resign.
GOP Rep. Allen West, the only Republican member of the caucus, blasted Carson's remarks as "reprehensible" during an interview on "Fox and Friends."
Timothy F. Johnson, founder of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, decried Carson's comments as "outrageous, hateful, and desperate," adding in a statement: "When some Democrats can't win a political disagreement, they normally resort to race-baiting, which is in itself racist."
Deneen Borelli, an African-American tea party speaker and a fellow with Project 21, a network of black conservatives under the auspices The National Center for Public Policy Research, called for Carson to resign.
"This is absolutely outrageous for him to say these kinds of comments, especially considering what position he holds in the Congressional Black Caucus," she told Newsmax. "This is someone who is supposed to be showing a leadership role, and instead he is inciting racial tension in our country.

Will Clarence and Virginia Thomas succeed in killing Obama's health-care plan?

As the Justice has assumed an influential role on the Roberts Court, his wife has helped lead the public war against the Administration.
It has been, in certain respects, a difficult year for Clarence Thomas. In January, he was compelled to amend several years of the financial-disclosure forms that Supreme Court Justices must file each year. The document requires the Justices to disclose the source of all income earned by their spouses, and Thomas had failed to note that his wife, Virginia, who is known as Ginni, worked as a representative for a Michigan college and at the Heritage Foundation. The following month, seventy-four members of Congress called on Thomas to recuse himself from any legal challenges to President Obama's health-care reform, because his wife has been an outspoken opponent of the law. At around the same time, Court observers noted the fifth anniversary of the last time that Thomas had asked a question during an oral argument. The confluence of these events produced the kind of public criticism, and even mockery, that Thomas had largely managed to avoid since his tumultuous arrival on the Court, twenty years ago this fall.

First Lady Michelle Obama's obsession with "childhood obesity" has bothered many since it began two years ago, especially those who think that White House nagging of parents should be reserved for more pressing issues. Now it is getting more serious, with food regulators starting to infringe on the free speech rights of advertisers.
In the latest upset, four federal agencies known as the Interagency Working Group (IWG) have delivered a plan to drastically censor food advertisers with products deemed to be "too high" in sodium, sugar, or fat that cater to any viewing audience between the ages of two and 11. These advertisers would lose key slots during some of America's most popular shows, like American Idol, America's Got Talent, and Glee-simply because the nanny state is "uncomfortable" with what they are selling.

CBO Report's Good News Built on Shifting Economic Sands

Contrary to tradition, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) today released its mid-year assessment of the budget and economic situation.
Traditionally, CBO releases its mid-year assessment after the White House's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) releases its statutorily required Mid-Session Review (MSR). The law requires the MSR to be produced by July 15 of each year. For example, last year the Administration almost hit the target, releasing the MSR on July 23. However, the Administration has not yet complied with the law for this year, and with August waning the CBO apparently concluded it could wait no longer to perform its duty.
Being late to publication, however, is the least of the Administration's problems-or the nation's-according to the CBO report. For example, CBO has lowered its projected 2011 inflation-adjusted economic growth rate from 3.1 percent in CBO's January report to only 2.3 percent. (The projection is for growth in real gross domestic product from the fourth quarter of 2010 to the fourth quarter of 2011.) This is well below the growth rate needed to reduce the unemployment rate.

In Obamacare, the President's Disregard for Consent of the Governed
Congress and the President have low approval ratings because Congress and the President continue to ignore the will of the American people. One reason for this disapproval is ObamaCare - the President's signature health care "reform" law.
According to Real Clear Politics (RCP), the average approval rating for the President is 43.0% approval and 53.2% disapproval. RCP has Congressional job approval at a dismal 12.3% approval and 84.0% disapproval. These numbers indicate anger and rage toward federally elected politicians.

As recently stated by German Chancellor Merkle, French President Sarkozy and British Prime Minister Cameron, "multiculturalism," is an abject failure.
Unless a country is allowed to maintain its own identity, history and culture while allowing people to integrate, it leads to ethnic strife and death. Insisting that those joining their community share the same language and accept the culture of their new homes, does not mean the emigrants may not maintain their own culture in their personal dealings. It does not, in any way, denigrate the emigrants culture.
It does, however, mean the blatantly obvious:

The National Labor Relations Board just destroyed thousands of ballots. I wish this was unexpected, but with the out-of-control Obama Labor Board, it's exactly as we've feared and predicted. As you know, the NLRB is bulldozing its way through workers' rights and the Board's own precedents to hand Big Labor as many new special privileges as it can before the 2012 elections.
-- Plotting to eliminate thousands of Boeing jobs in Right to Work South Carolina.
-- Proposing a scheme to ambush workers with union certification elections.
-- Forcing its way into every workplace in the country with biased notices that serve as a roadmap to coerced unionization.
The Obama Labor Board is on a war path against worker freedom. And the hits just keep on coming. Last week, three former union lawyers on the National Labor Relations Board voted to overturn the Board's pivotal 2007 ruling in Dana Corp. The Foundation-won Dana case was one of the most important victories for workers' rights at the Board in recent years, securing for employees the right to challenge union card check organizing campaigns with a secret ballot vote. Workers often sign so-called "union authorization cards" due to union organizers' intimidating tactics or even outright lies about what signing a card means.

In fact, many workers across the country -- like the Dana Corp. workers from Albion, Indiana in this video -- have used Dana elections to kick out unwanted unions, demonstrating the unreliability of card check instant organizing. But now thousands of workers who cast secret ballots in similar elections won't even have their votes counted. The NLRB is actually destroying the votes! Big Labor's Card Check Forced Unionism Bill stalled in Congress due to widespread opposition from the American public to eliminating the secret ballot -- and incumbents who supported card check faced the wrath of the voters in the 2010 midterm elections. So instead the union bosses turned to the NLRB -- where Barack Obama conveniently installed former union lawyers. Most notably, Obama installed former SEIU and AFL-CIO union lawyer Craig Becker as a recess appointee to the Board. Becker infamously called the secret ballot "profoundly undemocratic" and in his time on the Board has repeatedly demonstrated his blatant pro-forced unionism bias and disregard for ethics. In fact, Becker refused to recuse himself from the decision to overturn Dana even though he co-authored a brief for the AFL-CIO in the original case! Overturning Dana on its own would be bad enough, but what makes it even more troubling is how it goes hand-in-hand with the Board's other recent power grabs. Take the proposed ambush elections rules, for instance. If the rules are implemented, union operatives will be able to ambush workers with quick-snap elections just days after union organizers turn in "union authorization cards" from a mere 30 percent of the workforce. And to make it even easier for union operatives to steamroll their way into workplaces, the Board would also force companies to hand over to union organizers the name, address, phone number, email address, and shift schedule of each employee, exposing workers to "home visits" and other intimidation tactics. But if union bosses get wind of the possibility that they could lose the election by secret ballot, the new rules would allow them to withdraw their petition but save the personal contact information of each worker for a full-scale card check campaign at a later date. By overturning Dana, the Obama Labor Board just eliminated the one protection remaining for workers against abusive card check campaigns. In fact, the NLRB is making card check an even more powerful weapon against workers and job providers alike. That's why the National Right to Work Foundation will continue fighting back. We've already blasted the decision to overturn Dana in the press, and Foundation attorneys are working on new legal challenges to card check forced unionism. In the past few weeks, President Obama has repeatedly told the press and the public that the American economy is still strong and that there is no reason for concern or danger of another recession.
Yet, that is not the perception of the general public. The Conference Board Consumer Research Center's recent report said that the Consumer Confidence Index fell from 59.2 to 44.5 in the month of August. This is the lowest consumer confidence level since April 2009.
Americans are growing more and more pessimistic about the over all economy. With the weak job market, stock market bouncing all over the place, the continued record number of home foreclosures, rising prices on food and clothing and the congressional fiasco that took place on the debt ceiling and budget, people are afraid to spend what little money they have. Nearly 70% of the US economy is dependent on consumer spending, so when people are afraid to spend, it affects everything else.

Steve Forbes to Newsmax: Obama, Bernanke Must Go

Former presidential candidate and Forbes magazine editor Steve Forbes tells Newsmax that President Obama's planned economic reforms are "the definition of insanity" - repeating failed policies in the hopes that somehow they will become successful.
In a wide-ranging exclusive interview, Forbes also declares that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke should have resigned a long time ago, says Obama will be a one-term president, and looks for significant and positive reforms in Washington after the 2012 elections.
He also predicts the United States will make an "astonishing" move and return to a gold standard in the next five years, and says he's "very impressed" with Gov. Rick Perry and is leaning toward supporting him for the GOP presidential nomination.

As the 2012 presidential race gears up, leftist Christophobes are showing some signs of hysteria - or political opportunism; it's sometimes difficult to tell.
The New York Times' executive editor, Bill Keller, in a piece in The New York Times Magazine, argues that presidential candidates should be asked tough questions about their faith.
Keller wants to know whether a candidate will place "fealty to the Bible, the Book of Mormon . . . or some other authority higher than the Constitution and laws of this country" and "whether a president respects serious science and verifiable history."

"I think the American public is pretty upset right now at the Congress," Solis, a former five-term House member from California, replied to HUMAN EVENTS, "because of their inability to get together on issues and really focus on jobs. Tea party groups split over Romney speech

FreedomWorks is pulling out of a nationwide bus tour led by Tea Party Express over the inclusion of Mitt Romney as a speaker. The split signifies a growing divide between two groups.
FreedomWorks was founded by Dick Armey and is a more conventional political action committee which has positioned itself as a member-driven organization that will not lend its clout to candidates considered moderate.
Tea Party Express, launched by Sal Russo, is co-sponsoring a debate with CNN. "Our attitude has always been to keep our rallies open to everyone, we even let opponents to our endorsed candidates speak." A divide first opened up between FreedomWorks and the Tea Party Express over Hatch, who is expected to face a tough conservative challenge. FreedomWorks considers Hatch one of their top 2012 targets, and it is working closely with activists in the state to defeat him. Some activists see both groups as outsiders to the movement. "They just hijacked the name," said Jane Aitken of the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers, adding that "FreedomWorks isn't one of us either." Palin Primary Posturing Signals Last Call for Republicans

For Republicans still in search of the perfect someone to defeat President Barack Obama, it's almost last call and all eyes are on Sarah Palin. The first nomination balloting is five months away and organization is needed for fundraising, planning and execution. Three debates are also set for September.
That narrows potential latecomers to people with a big name, lots of money, or both. Palin is about the only remaining undecided, major party figure who fits that criteria.
Regardless of what the public may think of Obama now, he created a new candidate: "the charismatic rock star." Palin was the only Republican to reach that height, other candidates in the race today don't quite have the star power. Texas Governor Rick Perry at the moment, comes closest, while Mitt Romney is mixed on being a star.
Palin is keeping her options open and her supporters -- and detractors -- guessing. Asked if she would announce her intentions before the end of September, Palin said "Yes, definitely," Palin will appear at Labor Day weekend events in Iowa and New Hampshire, the two states that will start the nomination process early next year.
Palin would face a large bloc of voters already opposed to her. A poll by the Pew Research Center found 41 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters say there is no chance they would vote for Palin. [Bloomberg Business Week, Aug. 31] Click here for the complete source story

Rep. West threatens in letter to leave Congressional Black Caucus over tea party bashing

In response to comments made by Rep. Andre Carson and Rep. Maxine Waters that denigrate the tea party movement, Allen West - a member of both the Congressional Black Caucus and the Tea Party Caucus - sent a letter to CBC Chairman Emanuel Cleaver:
"As Chairman of the CBC, I believe it is incumbent on you to condemn these types of hate-filled comments. Otherwise, I will have to reconsider my membership within the organization. It is unconscionable for a fellow CBC Member to claim that some in the Tea Party would love to see black Americans 'hanging on a tree.' It is appalling to hear another CBC colleague say 'The Tea Party can go straight to hell.'"
"As a member of the CBC, I look forward to working with you to help end this practice. All of us, especially Carson, Waters and others who have engaged in racially-motivated rhetoric, should follow the example of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., not the example of Reverend Jeremiah Wright." SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]

The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.

- maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
- provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.

Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

Congressman: Tea Party wants to kill black people
Representative Andre Carson engaged in some serious rhetoric at a Congressional Black Caucus event, specifically targeting the Tea Party and Tea Party favorites in Congress. He said "[Tea Partiers would] love to see us as second-class citizens...some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me...hanging on a tree."
