Justice's New War Against Lenders
The Obama administration repeats mistakes of the past by intimidating banks into lending to minority borrowers at below-market rates in the name of combatting discrimination. The Wall Street Journal | By MARY KISSEL | AUGUST 31, 2011
Talk about not learning from past mistakes: A government department is again intimidating banks into lending to minority borrowers at below-market rates, all in the name of combating "discrimination." Welcome to the next housing mess.
The 1990s may have brought us supercharged politicized lending, but Eric Holder's Department of Justice is taking the game to an entirely new level, and then some. The weapon is a "fair lending" unit created in early 2010, led by special counsel Eric Halperin and overseen by Civil Rights Division head Thomas Perez.
A sampling of Mr. Perez's thinking, from April 2010 congressional testimony: "The foreclosure crisis has touched virtually every community in this country, but it disproportionately touches communities of color, in particular African-Americans and Latinos." And: "[C]ross burnings are the most overt form of discrimination and bigotry. Lending discrimination is some of the most subtle. It's what I call discrimination with a smile."

Labor Dept. Will Enforce Federal Wage Laws on Behalf of Illegal Workers
The Blaze | by Tiffany Gabbay | Posted on September 1, 2011 at 2:56am
In a written statement to CNSNews.com Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Labor confirmed that it will enforce federal wage laws on behalf of anyone working in the U.S. "regardless of their immigration status."
According to the report, the department's written statement corroborated an earlier comment made by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis. Responding to a question by CNS Monday, Solis spoke of "partnership" agreements she had allegedly signed with several Latin American countries - Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador - to protect the rights of "documented and undocumented" migrant workers in the United States.

Judical Watch is Demanding Answers Earlier this month, Judicial Watch, a government/judicial watchdog group based out of Washington, DC, hosted a Voter Fraud panel discussion featuring John Fund, Christian Adams, and King Street/True the Vote leader Catherine Engelbrecht. Here's video from a portion of the event:
 | "The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections" - Part 2 |
But wait, there's more! The really exciting thing Judicial Watch is doing happened just last week when they filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ to obtain records of communications between the Department of Justice and Project Vote Official/former ACORN attorney Estelle Rogers. You can read more about it here. Bottom line..."Judicial Watch is convinced that Project Vote's activities remain a threat to the integrity of our elections. The fact that Project Vote is bullying states to attack election security reforms in order to register Obama's 'Food Stamp Army' comes as no surprise. But it appears that the Obama Justice Department is using the same playbook as Project Vote - to the detriment of clean elections. The American people deserve to know if the nation's highest law enforcement agency has become nothing more than a political tool to help this scandalous ACORN-front group re-elect Barack Obama. Again, this Justice Department can't seem to be bothered to comply with basic open records FOIA law," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Be assured, we will be closely watching for any new developments in this case....but in the meantime, if you haven't already volunteered to help uphold free and fair elections by working at the polls WE NEED YOU! There is a critical shortage of polling place workers. We wonder why Project Vote and ACORN get away with their flagrant abuses of our system...it's because we as citizens are allowing it to happen. WE MUST ENGAGE IN THE PROCESS OF OUR ELECTIONS. One way you can engage is by volunteering to work as a poll watcher on Election Day. Please, it is going to take all of us to uphold the integrity of our elections in the days ahead. Get involved now.
We need TTV volunteers for poll watching - Free and fair elections do not happen without citizen involvement. Want to stand up and take action? True the Vote will provide training and support - you just need to take the first step. For more information email info@truethevote.org or go HERE to sign up now! |

We have a little less than one month and counting to get the word out all across this great land and into every community in the United States of America . If you forward this email to least 11 people and each of those people do the same ... you get the idea.
THE PROGRAM:
On Sunday, September 11th, 2011, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States . Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this tenth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.
In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds
So, here's what we need you to do .
(1) Forward this email. (Please don't be the one to break this chain. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.
(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.
Thank you for your participation. God Bless You and God Bless America !

DAY OF RAGE PLANNED FOR D.C., STATE CAPITOLS and WALL STREET SEPT 17, 2011
This information came out of Idaho, but this is being staged across the entire 50 states! We need to be aware and let others know, especially those that live in the capitals, or have businesses there. If you've seen the riots taking place in Greece, or those in the Middle East, you see a sample of what it looks like they are planning. Let's hope that either few show up, that they stay peaceful, or that the law enforcement agencies are able to thwart it before it occurs....

 | 9 11 Ten Years On: Family Security Matters |
THESE PHOTOS JUST BECAME DECLASSIFIED - FROM 9/11
The anniversary of 9/11 is coming up. We must never forget what happened and who was responsible. The threat is still with us of more destruction to come. Those radical islamist tell us so all the time. We all seem to dismiss it. We must press our Congress to look into all those who may be amongst us now training and getting ready to launch another attack. We must never allow a mosque to built any where near that sacred ground. Please be at the rally on 9/11 as the Mayor has given approval for the mosque to be built.
We the people must rise up and say NO!
See the Pic's Here . . .

Press Release:
AFDI/SIOA 9/11 Freedom Rally:
Stand Against Ground Zero Mosque, and Durban III, Stand for America
NEW YORK, July 6: The human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) will be hosting its second annual 9/11 Freedom Rally on September 11 at 3pm at Park Place and West Broadway.
Free citizens are coming from all over the U.S. to attend the rally. "It is crucial to stand for freedom on this tenth anniversary of the heinous 9/11 jihad attacks," said AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller. "We must show the jihadists we are unbowed in the defense of freedom."
AFDI and its Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) program are encouraging all Americans to stand against the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero and the anti-Semitic Durban III conference that will be held in New York City at the same time, and for American values on the tenth anniversary of the worst attack ever on American soil.
The confirmed list of speakers includes 9/11 family members Alexander and Maureen Santora, who lost their firefighter son Christopher; Sally Regenhard, whose son Christian was killed on 9/11; Nelly Braginsky, who lost her son Alexander; and others.
Other speakers include former U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton (video message); the courageous ex-Muslim human rights activist Wafa Sultan; war hero and North Carolina Congressional candidate Ilario Pantano; former prosecutor and bestselling author Andrew C. McCarthy; popular radio host Joyce Kaufman; Darla Dawald, National Director of the Patriot Action Network; James Lafferty of the Virginia Anti-Sharia Taskforce (VAST); Coptic Christian activist Joseph Nassralla; Iraqi ex-Muslim Paul Gaynos.
Hosting the rally are Pamela Geller, publisher of the acclaimed AtlasShrugs.com blog, executive director of AFDI and SIOA, and author of Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance (WND Books); and AFDI/SIOA associate director Robert Spencer, the bestselling author and director of Jihad Watch.
Building the Ground Zero mosque is not an issue of religious freedom, but of resisting an effort to insult the victims of 9/11 and to establish a beachhead for political Islam and Islamic supremacism in New York. Cordoba Initiative board member imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is an open proponent of Sharia, Islamic law, a system that denies the freedom of speech, the freedom of conscience, and the equality of rights of all people before the law. Given the thousands of triumphal mosques that have been built on the cherished sites of conquered peoples throughout Islamic history, the mosque leaders' claim that this mosque would be understood differently by Muslims worldwide lack foundation.
The Durban III conference follows upon two previous conferences that scapegoated and demonized the state of Israel in service of Islamic jihad and Islamic supremacist interests. The rally will defend Israel against the defamation to which it will be subjected at this conference. It will also call upon the city to remove roadblocks to the reconstruction of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which was destroyed on 9/11 and since then mired in bureaucratic red tape that has prevented its rebuilding - in stark contrast to the help Mayor Bloomberg and other city officials have given to the Ground Zero Mosque project.
AFDI/SIOA is one of America's foremost organizations defending human rights, religious liberty, and the freedom of speech against Islamic supremacist intimidation and attempts to bring elements of Sharia to the United States.

WHERE: U.S.Congress -Room B-339 of the Rayburn Office Building, Washington D.C.
When: September 7, 2011 - 11PM - 1:30PM
Who: Congressman Allen West
Rep. Allen West (R-FL) will be hosting 9/11 family members along with a screening in Congress a documentary film called, Sacrificed Survivors: The Untold Story of the Ground Zero Mosque, on September 7, 2011. As you know, West has a national following as a rising star in Congress, as he fearlessly takes on Islamists.
Because of his position to host the film, he has of course received a lot of controversy and we anticipate further debate. Here is a short report on his position: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DtqxseRzvI
On FOX News Channel's "The Five," the panelists were discussing the controversy over Rep. Allen West's hosting of Sacrificed Survivors in Congress. Outrageously, one panelist, Bob Beckel, said that New Yorkers had to "get over" 9/11 because "it's affecting the rest of us."
http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201108030037#.TkMBIQwR3eE.facebook
This September 11th is not only the 10th anniversary of 9/11 but a decade of reflection.
Will you come to DC on September 7th to meet with Congressman West?
Congressman West is hosting a private meeting just before the screening with family members. If you are a family member, we may be able to help with your expenses. Many great organizations have come onboard so there will be national media attention about this event. Let's get the attention this important anniversary deserves.
PLEASE PASS THIS EMAIL AROUND TO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS!

Talk-Radio's Dom Giordano To Receive ZOA's Ben Hecht Award
Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,
Tickets are now available for Philadelphia ZOA's First Tribute Gala on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at the Hilton Philadelphia on City Avenue, as we honor talk-radio giant Dom Giordano and beloved Rabbi Fred Kazan.
Do not miss what will be a memorable event locally for the pro-Israel community in our area.
Jewish community pillar Gary Erlbaum will be master of ceremonies as we honor Dom with the Ben Hecht Award for Outstanding Journalism for his honest and forthright support of Israel, and Rabbi Kazan for his lifelong devotion to the Jewish State of Israel with our Guardian of Israel Award. Jonathan Tobin of Commentary and former executive editor of the Jewish Exponent will be guest speaker, and there will be remarks from our own great ZOA National President Morton Klein.
Of course, there will also be delicious glatt-kosher food, a festive and warm evening and the opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate Israel.
Philadelphia ZOA has set up a special ticket hotline so that you can be a part of this evening. Call 215-333-1729 to order tickets, or contact us by email at a special email address: zoadom@yahoo.com . Or if you would like, a copy of the invitation and response card is attached to this email. Simply print it out and return it to: ZOA-GPD, P.O. Box 45604, Phila., PA 19149.
There is no one else in local media who matches Dom when it comes to standing up for Israel, patriotism and integrity. Dom has taken on guests and callers on 1210 AM WPHT Radio who distort the facts about Israel, and he goes out of his way to speak truthfully about the Arab war against the Jews because it is the right thing to do.
Rabbi Kazan has been a fervent champion of Israel and has inspired generations of local Jews to have a place in their heart for the Jewish State. Whether it be currently at Historic Congregation Kesher Israel where he is religious leader, or Temple Adath Israel where he is Rabbi Emeritus, or at Beth Sholom where he served, or during his tours of Jewish Philadelphia he leads, he has been a proponent for Israel.
It is the duty of all who care about Israel to thank and show appreciation for stalwarts of Israel as we lest not take such support for granted. In our area, we must come out to publicly thank Dom Giordano and Rabbi Kazan.
We look forward to seeing you the evening of Sept. 8.

Please come to our Constitution Day event entitled "Everything you wanted to know about ObamaCare, but didn't know who to ask."
They said we had to pass it to know what's in it, but over a year later, people STILL don't fully understand how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) - aka "ObamaCare" - will affect them and their health.
That's why a coalition of citizens and health care professionals will present "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About ObamaCare But Didn't Know Who to Ask" on the campus of DeSales University in Center Valley, PA from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 - which, ironically, happens to be Constitution Day. DeSalesUniversity is located in the Lehigh Valley of PA, within easy driving distance of the major population centers of central, northeast, and southeast PA.
Policy professionals, physicians, business and legislative leaders, and representatives from groups most affected by the PPACA will share their insights and expertise through presentations, breakout sessions, exhibits, and panel discussions.
They'll explain how ObamaCare affects personal liberty and the Constitution, families and seniors, taxpayers, Medicare and the deficit, insurance premiums and the uninsured, businesses, employees and the economy, doctors, patients, and access to care, American innovation in medicine, and more.
Also included will be detailed updates on state and national efforts to defund, repeal, replace, and nullify ObamaCare from some of the legislative leaders spearheading those efforts.
Participants will leave the three hour event far more informed about what's in the PPACA than most of the legislators who voted for it, and will be energized to get involved in the fight to save America's health care. Participants, both live and online, will be empowered by their new understanding of how the PPACA will not accomplish any of the things its name implies, and will be able to effectively communicate that new understanding to others, providing important education about why this ill-conceived piece of legislation needs to be defeated by any means possible.
Already, according to Rasmussen's most recent poll, 54% of Americans want to see ObamaCare repealed, while only 39% oppose repeal - but the people who passed it clearly have not heard the voices of the American people yet. The more Americans know about the PPACA, the more they dislike it, and this conference will help to provide the tools citizen advocates and health care professionals need to effectively participate in the process to defund, repeal, and replace ObamaCare.
The event will be free to the public on site in a venue which will seat 500, and a live streaming video, and a professionally produced program will promote information about our coalition's sponsoring groups, as well as providing important information about the PPACA.
Please consider joining with the Lehigh Valley Coalition for Health Care Reform to help educate the public about ObamaCare through your sponsorship of this important event. If you'd like to be involved, please contact me ASAP and I'll reserve your space in our program and on the promotional materials. We are currently working on creating a web page and Facebook page for the event.

Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked.
So here it is. A one page, quick description of Agenda 21 that fits on one page. I've also included for the back side of your hand out a list of quotes for the perpetrators of Agenda 21 that should back up my brief descriptions.
A word of caution, use this as a starter kit, but do not allow it to be your only knowledge of this very complex subject. To kill it you have to know the facts. Research, know your details; discover the NGO players in your community; identify who is victimized by the policies and recruit them to your fight; and then kill Agenda 21. That's how it must be done. The information below is only your first step. Happy hunting.
What is Sustainable Development?
Read more: There will be weekly meetings every Wednesday at P J Ryan's, 231 Bridge Street, Phoenixville - 6pm - downstairs We will be discussing UN Agenda 21 & Sustainable Development, as well as other topics relevant with today's problems like the NWO, Congress, debt, how to be prepared for the future disasters, etc.... 2012 Presidential Candidate Selector or Obama, His Allies & Critics Matching Quiz
Politicians have already indicated their 2012 presidential aspirations. This matching quiz includes President Obama, top members of his administration, Obama's most vocal critics (Boehner, Cantor, etc.) and likely White House prospects (Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal, etc.). You may select a position for every issue, or just select issues important to you. The political figures' positions are based upon their voting records, special interest group ratings and their statements in the public record. In cases where there is no known public record or statement, these politicos are not given a score on that issue. We add candidates, revise their views and include new issues as they become known or change. Check back often for updates.

RedState Morning Briefing
For September 1, 2011
1. We Don't Need a Speech. We Need Jobs.
President Obama and Speaker Boehner have agreed that the President will address a joint session of the Congress next Thursday. The President wanted Wednesday during the GOP debate, but John Boehner said no. Folks at the White House said the Speaker had been consulted before they put it in writing and did not object. Speaker Boehner's staff say he was not consulted prior to receiving the President's request. It doesn't really matter. People are beyond tired of speeches from Washington.
As the President addresses the nation, Arizona will face off against Oklahoma for a college football game and the NFL regular season will start.
The President had two years with his party controlling the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate. They managed to pass a stimulus bill that, by 2010, was such a dismal disaster the President would not even use the word "stimulus." Remember that press conference?
The Democrats then pivoted to health care claiming it was about entitlement reform and related to jobs.
Every time the President has pivoted to jobs a funny thing has happened - we've wound up losing more jobs.
How many mulligans will we give our golfer-in-chief?
2. DOJ Advises Gibson Guitar to Export Labor to Madagascar
The Gibson Guitar saga has taken a sinister turn.
It seems that the Department of Justice wasn't satisfied with merely raiding the law abiding factories of Gibson Guitar with armed agents, shutting down their operation costing them millions, and leaving the American company in the dark as to how to proceed without shutting down.
Now, according to CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, agents of the United States government are bluntly informing them that they'd be better off shipping their manufacturing labor overseas.
3. Ezra Klein vs. the Dictionary
Ezra Klein is the twenty something leftwing hack who has never had a real job in the private sector beyond the lefty think tank and pundit shops in DC. Somehow or another he got a cushy gig pretending to be objective at the Washington Post where he continues to mouth off on economic policy from a decidedly left-wing bent.
It's gotten so bad that Ezra Klein is forced to play word games and lie to win an argument on social security. Klein wants to win an argument against the Republicans on social security. So what does he do? He has to reinvent a new definition of ponzi scheme.
Klein relies on liberal blogger/polisci guy Jonathan Bernstein to give him his definition, which is to define a ponzi scheme as "a fraud that relies on new investors being unaware of the program's financing mechanism." And OH MY GOSH!!!!! social security is fully transparent therefore it cannot be a Ponzi scheme.
EZRA IS BETTER THAN WELL WHO CARES. HE WINS!!!!!
Except he only wins by willfully changing the definition of a ponzi scheme. I say willfully because he can't be that stupid can he?
4. Dana Milbank: Perry Is Not A Libertarian
A few years ago NRO's Jonah Goldberg coined the term Conservatives in the Mist to describe what happens when liberals set out to explain conservatives to liberals. Recently, we've seen The New Yorker's Ryan Lizza engage in egregious and hopefully painful self-beclowning while attempting to explain garden variety Christianity to his neo-pagan readership.
Now the Washington Post's one-man Fifth Column, the absurd Dana Milbank, undertakes the task of using the Conservatives in the Mist methodology to explain to Republicans why Texas Governor Rick Perry is on the fringe. His killer argument:
"Yes, Perry is passionately anti-government, or at least anti-this-government. But the man who suddenly tops the Republican presidential polls is no libertarian. Rick Perry is a theocrat."
I didn't realize that Rick Perry had ever claimed to be a libertarian.
5. The Arrogant Left Hates Rural, Conservative America.
"It seems unjust to me that someone would be charged when they were protecting their family," state Sen. Shawn Keough, R-Sandpoint, said after the hearing. "I'm at a loss to understand why the U.S. government is pursuing this in the manner they are."
(HT: The Spokesman Review)
Let me break this down for Representative Keough. I'll be blunt here, but without any disrespect intended. Jeremy M. Hill, a US Citizen, from Northern Idaho, shot and killed a female grizzly bear which had entered his backyard while two of his children were playing. This forced the US Government to choose whether it valued the grizzly bear more or two children of a US citizen, who happened to live in a Conservative, rural county.
6. DoJ targets AT&T: The story behind the story
Yesterday it was announced that the Department of Justice will attempt to block AT&T's acquisition of T-Mobile. The deal is needed for technical and regulatory reasons to allow AT&T to compete in the 4G wireless market with Verizon, Sprint/Clearwire, and with the upcoming competitor LightSquared. So why is the Department of Justice calling it bad for competition?
Enter R. Gerard Salemme. It's not a well-known name, but it's been an important one in the Obama administration. It's also a name that often comes up in the ventures of one Craig McCaw. Craig McCaw is an equal opportunity donor who gives to anyone who looks likely to win, including Gore 2000, Bush 2004, and both sides in 2008.
That $2,300 donation to Obama sure is paying off.
7. Obama Makes the Case for State Control of Surface Transportation
Yesterday, Barack Obama decried the gridlock that has prevented Congress from passing a long-term surface transportation bill (highway bill) as unacceptable and inexcusable. He also asserted that we must formulate a policy in which funding would be directed to those districts that need it the most, instead of politically motivated pork, such as the bridge to nowhere (which he supported in the Senate). Well, unknowingly, Obama has made a strong case for transferring surface transportation funding, and its accompanying revenue source; the gasoline tax, back to the states.
8. Is Ryan Lizza An Idiot or Willfully Distorting Christian Theology?
From Ben Domenech's excellent Transom, I found out some news I did not have when I wrote yesterday about Ryan Lizza's The New Yorker article where he got major, substantive facts wrong.
One of the things Lizza did was tie Michele Bachmann to Francis Schaeffer and Nancy Pearcey, who Lizza opined are "dominionists." Well, Schaeffer may be dead, but Nancy Pearcey is very much alive and has her own website. She has responded to Lizza's piece.
9. 'Jihad Joe' and the Radicalization of American Muslims
AT A TIME when so many books on politics, religion, and world events are little more than puffed-up pamphlets which are simultaneously high on hyper-partisanship and low on facts, J. M. Berger's Jihad Joe, a treatment of the radicalization and actions of American Muslims who have dedicated themselves to "violent jihad" (the author's chosen term), is a breath of fresh - and troubling - air. Painstakingly researched and heavily footnoted (the author, an investigative journalist, consulted thousands of pages of court records and documents obtained through FOIA request, as well as source material from the making of multiple documentaries on jihadi activities in Bosnia and in the U.S.), Jihad Joe does not couch opinion as fact, but instead makes use of often disparate stories and information sources to weave together a factual account of radicalized American Muslims, from their diverse motivations and processed of radicalization to their actions.

Israel Deploying Warships in Red Sea - Iran Following Suit
The IDF has deployed two warships to the Red Sea near the Egyptian border as Sinai terror alerts pour in; Iran plans to follow suit.
by Gavriel Queenann
8/30/2011
The IDF on Monday deployed two warships in the Red Sea near the border with Egypt following warnings terrorists are planning another attack on southern Israel from Egyptian soil.
Also on Monday, IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz ordered increased deployments across the entire southern command, especially near the Israel-Egypt border, increased.
The move, ostensibly due to increased terror warnings, comes concurrent to Israel's agreement to allow Egypt to deploy 1,500 more troops in areas B and C of the Sinai in order to conduct counter-terror operations on the Peninsula. Area A is the sector adjoining the Israeli-Egyptian border.

FBI on Heightened Alert for 9/11 Anniversary
Sunday, 28 Aug 2011
By Ronald Kessler
The FBI will be on heightened alert around Sept. 11 because of the possibility of attacks timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
"In the past, al-Qaida has not been fixated on anniversaries," says an FBI official. "But from the material seized from Osama bin Laden's compound, we see references to the 10th anniversary indicating it had significance to him."
As a result, "Every office will be on heightened alert," the official says. No agents will be given leave during that period, meaning that all of the bureau's nearly 14,000 agents will be on duty.

Cheney to Rush: Interrogations 'Absolutely Essential'
Tuesday, 30 Aug 2011
By Amy Woods
Former Vice President Dick Cheney told Rush Limbaugh the most important moment during his eight years in office occurred when terrorist-surveillance programs and enhanced interrogation techniques were developed in response to 9/11.
"A lot of that stuff was very controversial, but it was absolutely essential in order for us to prevent mass casualty attacks," Cheney said Tuesday on the radio program.

NU chairman has no doubt as to how a lone terrorist could have injured 8 security men and emerged alive: court policy is to blame. by Gil Ronen, INN
The terrorist who went on a rampage in Tel Aviv Sunday night managed to injure eight security men, some seriously, but is still alive and has only light injuries. How did this happen? National Union Chairman MK Yaakov Katz says soldiers and police are simply afraid that the courts will persecute them if they use force against the enemy.
"The fear of Supreme Court President Beinisch has fallen upon the soldiers and policemen of Israel," MK Katz said.
"The behavior of the State Attorney's Office and the legal system lately against security guards, policemen, soldiers and officers who staunchly defended the Nation of Israel - and were rewarded by being sent to jail - weakens the security forces," he explained.
"Fear and trembling seize them and in any confrontation between an Arab terrorist...

Poll finds Israeli teens identify with the right, want Lieberman to be prime minister and don't want Israel to concede territories. by Elad Benari, INN
A new poll whose results were released on Monday has found that most youth in Israel tend to identify with the right side of the political map.
According to the results reported on Channel 10 News, 17% of high school students believe that Israel's next Prime Minister should be outspoken rightist Avigdor Lieberman (Yisrael Beiteinu). Lieberman is followed by well-known leftist journalist and television personality, Yair Lapid (who has not officially announced he is running for politics but who has openly expressed his desire to rebuild his late father's, Tommy Lapid's militantly secular and anti-hareidi Shinui party), who got 13%. Current Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu received only 8%.

Al Gore Likens Global Warming Doubters to Racists
Former vice president Al Gore recently compared climate change doubters to racists.

Muslims, police scuffle at Rye Playland over amusement park's head scarf ban; 15 arrests made
CORINNE LESTCH AND BILL HUTCHINSON, DAILY NEWS WRITERS
Rye Playland was shut down Tuesday after cops scuffled with Muslims upset that women wearing head scarves were barred from the rides, witnesses said.
Fifteen people, including three women, were charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the chaos, authorities said.
The Westchester County park was packed with Muslims celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr - the holiday marking the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
One woman, Entisai Ali, began arguing with cops over the amusement park's head scarf, or hijab, rule, said Dena Meawad, 18, of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
The ban, which is not Muslim specific, was imposed about 3 years ago mostly to prevent hats from falling onto the tracks of roller coasters and other rides, park officials said.

Special Report On Ground-Zero Mosque: Will Mosque Be Federally Funded?
Reports are circulating once again that the developers of the Ground Zero Mosque have applied for a federally-funded grant to help build the mosque within sight of Ground Zero.
Is it true that our tax dollars could help build the Ground Zero Mosque?
In short, the answer is yes, but this is not "new" news. Last year, news broke that the developers had applied for a grant of $5 million from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) as part of LMDC's "Community and Cultural Enhancement Program."
Many news sources reported this story (see links below).
Is the LMDC funded with federal tax dollars? Yes. LMDC received a $2 billion grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This grant makes possible programs such as the "Community and Cultural Enhancement Program."
What's more, religious organizations are invited to apply for Program funds.
Our sources indicate that the status of the Ground Zero Mosque's application is unknown (LMDC has made no determination on the application or that determination has not been made public.)
But the fact that Ground Zero Mosque developers are openly courting a federally-funded grant and are now using the 9/11 10th anniversary to promote their fundraising goals emphasizes that they are very serious about establishing a new mosque at Ground Zero.
+ + Petitions will be presented to City Officials.
Grassfire Nation and the Patriot Action Network are taking part in a major rally in New York City on 9/11 to honor those who have fallen and oppose this new version of the Ground Zero Mosque.
During these events, we will be delivering petitions and presenting our 9/11 Remembrance lapel pin to first responders and family members of victims as a special gift from fellow Americans.
Patriots, if you want to be included in this petition presentation to honor those who have fallen and oppose this new version of the Ground Zero Mosque, please go here:
http://www.grassfire.com/136/petition.asp?ref_id=500064
We are finalizing preparations for next week's delivery and need to hear from you as soon as possible.
Once again, organizers of the Ground Zero Mosque are openly seeking $5 million in grants from a federally funded program. They are using the 9/11 event to raise millions more for their cause.
If you want your voice to be heard, please sign the petition and notify your friends.

Hearings start on immigrant crackdown package
Posted: 08/31/2011

By Michael Matza Inquirer Staff Writer Pennsylvania State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R., Butler), a leading critic of the Obama administration's efforts to change immigration laws, opened hearings Tuesday on a package of 15 bills designed to crack down on what he called illegal "invaders." Metcalfe's proposed laws would require Pennsylvania employers to use the voluntary federal database E-Verify to authenticate employees' Social Security numbers; raise penalties on companies that hire illegal workers; add state penalties for the federal crime of human smuggling; and require a different type of birth certificate for the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants, among other restrictions. Metcalfe, chairman of the state Government Committee, said he sponsored the package of bills, under the rubric "National Security Begins at Home," to "combat Pennsylvania's estimated 140,000 illegal alien invaders" who, according to his calculations, cost the state about $1.5 billion a year in educational costs, medical services, and other benefits. The Harrisburg hearing included testimony by groups supporting tougher restrictions, including the Tea Party Immigration Coalition and the Federation for American Immigration Reform. Their representatives said illegal immigration is not only costly, but it jeopardizes national security. Local police from Berks County and Beaver Meadow also testified in support.

Morning Bell: The Fast and Furious Scandal Continues
Mike Brownfield | August 31, 2011
A U.S. government gun-trafficking investigation gone horribly wrong has resulted in the death of a U.S. Border Patrol officer, some 2,000 firearms in the hands of criminals, and the dismissal of a 24-year veteran law enforcement official. This is the story of Fast and Furious, and yesterday the latest chapter unfolded when two top officials associated with the operation were removed from their positions, while a third individual resigned.
The story begins in the fall of 2009, when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) office in Phoenix, Arizona, began selling weapons to small-time gun buyers in the hopes of tracing them to major weapons traffickers along the southwestern border and into Mexico. Their efforts failed, the number of arms unaccounted for numbers around 1,500 as of late July, and about two-thirds of those guns ended up in Mexico, according to congressional testimony.

"[T]he problem to be solved is, not what form of Government is perfect, but which of the forms is least imperfect." --James Madison
Editorial Exegesis
"Ben Bernanke's annual Jackson Hole policy speech on Friday ... contained little news about monetary policy. But such is the Federal Reserve Chairman's influence among the Wall Street-media establishment that his speech is being celebrated as a rebuke of Congress for its fiscal drama. ... Mr. Bernanke is shrewd enough not to take overt partisan sides, but his words were quickly interpreted as a rebuke to Republicans for their recent debt-limit showdown with President Obama. ... Mr. Bernanke also lectured that 'U.S. fiscal policy must be placed on a sustainable path,' though not by cutting spending in the short-term. So the Fed chief joins the Keynesian queue of spending St. Augustines -- Lord, make us fiscally chaste, but not yet. The Fed chief must not understand Congress if he thinks you can encourage it to spend more now and somehow expect it to discover discipline later. The natural instinct of any legislature is to spend, so whenever a Congress is willing to cut domestic outlays you have to grab the offer. Mr. Bernanke's riff undercuts the few reformers who really do want to put spending 'on a sustainable path.' ... The remarks also sound like an alibi for the Fed's own inability to midwife a faster recovery. Republicans have run the House for fewer than eight months. Mr. Bernanke has been Fed Chairman since February 2006 and has presided over 32 months of historically easy monetary policy in the name of spurring faster growth and avoiding deflation. What we have instead is a mild stagflation -- 1% GDP growth, 9.1% unemployment, and a commodity price bubble that has robbed middle-class real incomes. Is this John Boehner's fault? We certainly hope Republicans in Congress and on the Presidential trail are paying attention, though not in the way Mr. Bernanke intends. The Chairman's speech continues his habit of taking the Fed into political territory far beyond its mandate, and Republicans should be thinking carefully about ways to rein it back in." --The Wall Street Journal

"The debt stood at $10.6 trillion when Barack Obama took office in January 2009. Now, it's about $14.4 trillion. ... By the time Obama finishes his first term, he will have increased the national debt by somewhere in the $5 trillion-to-$6 trillion range -- more than Bush did in two terms. None of this is to say that George W. Bush had a good record on spending. He didn't, and he's fair game for criticism. But is it honest to condemn reckless spending in 'eight years of Republican rule' when Democrats controlled the Senate for four of those years and the House for two? Is it honest to talk about the 'cost' of the Bush tax cuts when federal revenues increased significantly while they were in effect? And is it honest to refer to Bush's ballooning deficits when deficits actually trended down for much of his presidency -- at least before Democrats won control of Congress? Of course Obama partisans would like to pin the president's troubles on Bush. But they should get their facts straight first." --columnist Byron York
"Obama doesn't meditate, cogitate, contemplate or deliberate about job creation, because he thinks he's already got it figured out. The only thing he's doing is strategizing how best to convince the people, against all their reason and instincts, that his failed policies will work if he keeps trying. Meanwhile, he continues to wreak havoc on the market with his onerous tax, regulatory and administrative policies. We know better than to fall for his promise to cut $10 billion through regulatory relaxation. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said the proposal was 'underwhelming,' and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said the changes 'will not have a material impact on the economy.' Just more smoke and mirrors." --columnist David Limbaugh
"The vast uncertainties created by ObamaCare create a special problem. If employers knew that ObamaCare would add $1,000 to their costs of hiring an employee, then they could simply reduce the salaries they offer by $1,000 and start hiring. But, since it will take years to create all the regulations required to carry out ObamaCare, employers today don't know whether the ObamaCare costs that will hit them down the road will be $500 per employee or $5,000 per employee. Many businesses work their existing employees overtime or hire temporary workers, rather than get stuck with unknown and unknowable costs for expanding their permanent work force." --economist Thomas Sowell
"[T]here are interesting stories that you have to catch up with when you can, like a moving train. The Justice Department's raid on four Gibson guitar factories [over supposedly illegal wood] is in that category. The raid took place last Wednesday. ... [CEO Henry] Juszkiewicz says that the government of the country where [their] rosewood comes from certified it for export, and Gibson jumps through rather elaborate hoops before it buys the wood after it is imported to the U.S. ... One of the ironies, as you might expect, is that America is a trivial importer of rosewood from Madagascar and India. ... If nothing else, this incident illustrates the misguided priorities of the Obama administration. Harassing American businesses on frivolous grounds is not exactly what our economy needs at the moment. But the anti-business Obama administration just can't help itself." --blogger John Hinderaker

This is a situation where the economy essentially had a heart attack, and the patient lived, and the patient is getting better, but it's getting better very slowly." --Barack Obama Blame Game: "All these ideas [for jobs] are ones that have been presented to Congress. We'll be putting out several other additional ideas. We've got to do it, unfortunately, at a time when money is tight. George Bush left us [a] $1 trillion deficit." --Barack Obama, blaming Bush Blame Game II: "My attitude is that my job is to present the best plans possible. Congress needs to act. If Congress does not act, then I'm going to be going on the road and talking to folks, and this next election very well may end up being a referendum on whose vision of America is better." --Barack Obama, blaming Congress Blame Game III: "The Tea-Party driven Republicans -- it's made it very difficult to get progressive things done for this Congress." --Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), blaming the Tea Party Government is the answer: "Government and politics are two different things. ... VFW Snub is Part of Obama's War on Veterans By Ben Johnson, The White House Watch
|
Although Muammar Qaddafi is still on the loose and no one knows who will replace him in Tripoli, multiple left-wing and "mainstream" media sources lament that President Obama is not getting enough credit for his "success" in Libya. But Obama is by far the worst offender in not giving credit where it is due. The president has refused to address the Veterans of Foreign Wars' annual convention, or to send a top-tier speaker in his place, for the first time since the organization's founding. This contemptuous low represents another regretful historic first of the Obama administration. But it is merely one front of Obama's hostility toward the military - a lifelong obsession that includes everything from threatening to withhold veterans' pensions, to launching pointless and unconstitutional wars, to denying them the wherewithal to succeed in their mission, to not assuring they have the opportunity to participate at the ballot box....

Obama Manipulated Google Searches to Promote ObamaCare By Doug Book, FloydReports.com

Barack Hussein Obama's 2008 presidential campaign understood the value of an aggressive internet presence, and the Regime's web exploitation tactics have not changed since the election. On March 23, Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Health and Human Services. The public interest organization received more than 2,300 pages of documents, including internal HHS correspondence and "communications with representatives of the Ogilvy Group, the public relations firm hired by the Obama administration to manage the ObamaCare campaign." Months of review show internet search engines such as Google and Yahoo were paid millions of taxpayer dollars to secretly direct web-based inquiries about health care to....

Who Can Defeat Obama? Anybody By Brett M. Decker, The Washington Times

According to Gallup daily polling results released Monday, 55 percent now disapprove of the job President Obama is doing. The liberal media, which is in the tank for the first black president, don't want voters to come to the conclusion that his defeat is inevitable so they're cooking up mythical roadblocks in the way of a GOP victory. After a scheduling tussle, Obama will address Congress on Thursday By Sam Youngman In a likely foreshadowing of a contentious work session to come, President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) agreed on when the president could present his jobs plan only after a heated back and forth over scheduling. A contentious and public disagreement over when the president would give his jobs speech to a joint session of Congress erupted Wednesday and ended when the White House accepted the Speaker's proposed date. Press secretary Jay Carney said in a statement Wednesday night that Obama had agreed to speak on Thursday Sept. 8 instead of Sept. 7, the day which the president originally requested. "The president is focused on the urgent need to create jobs and grow our economy, so he welcomes the opportunity to address a Joint Session of Congress on Thursday, Sept. 8th and challenge our nation's leaders to start focusing 100 percent of their attention on doing whatever they can to help the American people," Carney said. Don't Miss Your Chance to Comment on NLRB's Proposed Rule ChangeThe National Labor Relations Board is proposing to change the rules for holding union representation elections. While the NLRB claims the new rules will improve the election process, these changes will actually force "ambush" elections on employers in as little as 10 days, without giving employers an opportunity to educate workers on the implications of forming a union. This rule change threatens jobs and workplace harmony. Members of the SEIU in their comments said: "any step to improve the election process for working people trying to form a union is welcome," and members of the AFL-CIO similarly said they "welcome your rule to improve the process for working people trying to form unions." But ambushing companies and workers with elections before they understand the stakes is not an improvement to an already well-functioning process. The NLRB is accepting reply comments through Tuesday, September 6th. Americans for Prosperity Foundation wants to make it as easy as possible for you to place reply comments on the record to answer the unions demand for these "quickie union elections" intended to increase a union's likelihood of success and force workers into unions without the benefit of understanding the high stakes in a representation election. Please click here to file a reply comment with the NLRB. Thank you for your attention to this issue, Phil Kerpen Vice President, Policy Americans for Prosperity Foundation

Yosemite National Park spending 3.8 million tax dollars to save $50,000; might break even in 2088
Aug 31, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins
By Kevin "Coach" Collins
Yosemite National Park has installed the largest solar energy system in the whole United States National Park System. The system will provide 672 kilowatts which is 12% of the park's yearly electric power requirements. The system installed by Suntek (doesn't that name make you just want to hug a tree?) consists of 2,800 solar panels "tastefully" integrated into the existing architecture of Yosmite's administrative and maintenance compound.
A 500 kilowatt solar canopy covers the parking lot, a 100 kW rooftop section serves as a collection system on top of the warehouse and an additional 72 kWs wrap the building's outer walls. Nevertheless, before you jump up and shout "Holy renewable energy!" consider the dark side of this "money and energy saving green policy."
New meaning to the term "Lifetime guarantee"
The system cost $4.5 million and over the next five years the Park will receive $700,000 in energy rebates to ... Continue Reading:Yosemite National Park spending 3.8 million tax dollars to save $50,000; might break even in 2088

Sen. Toomey Commends Administration's Proposal To Eliminate Deadlines For Street Sign Mandate
Tuesday, Aug 30
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) commended Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood for the Department of Transportation's recent decision to eliminate a federal mandate for replacing street signs that did not comply with federal reflectivity standards.
Department of Transportation Sec. LaHood stated, "A specific deadline for replacing street signs makes no sense and would have cost communities across America millions of dollars in unnecessary expenses. After speaking with local and state officials across the country, we are proposing to eliminate these burdensome regulations. It's just plain common sense."

The Diet Dictators' Attack on Consumer Choice and Free Speech
By Diane Katz
Federal regulators recently unleashed plans intended to radically restrict food choices for American children. Nutritional staples such as Cheerios, peanut butter, and yogurt are verboten under the proposed standards, which effectively constitute a government-regulated grocery list. Proponents contend they have only the best interests of overweight children in mind. Whether pursuing weight loss or some other high-minded goal, however, the action is unproductive and likely unconstitutional.
Nanny-State Nutritionists
The focus of this latest caloric crackdown is government censorship of food advertising, disguised as "guidelines" crafted by the four federal agencies that wield extensive regulatory powers over the nation's foodstuffs.[1] This so-called "Independent Working Group" (IWG) believes that suppressing advertising and promotion about dietary choices will eliminate obesity among the playground set-despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

They say that everyone talks about the weather, and no one ever does anything about it-- but since the mid-1980's we've been expected to do things about it. Two generations of children have grown up with the mantra that putting the empty soda in the right trash can is all that stands between them and the destruction of the planet, not to mention all the dead dolphins, paddling polar bears and crying indians. There are just too many people, we're told, and too many of them are buying things and eating things and living too long. And all that is killing the planet. Sure you can guzzle Fair Trade coffee until your face turns green, bike to work until you're sterile and smugly lecture everyone else on the importance of saving the planet-- but no matter what you do, you're coughing up carbon into the air like a defective air conditioner. To get some perspective on this, let's visit Tokyo, one of the major centers of the global economy, (not literally of course, because that's just too expensive) home of the Japanese royal family and the largest metropolitan area on the planet. When Hollywood writers imagine what the world will look like in 2282 or 5692 or some other random collection of numbers that leads to a world where everyone wears silver spandex and is rebelling against a totalitarian government, they usually use Tokyo as a model of the terrible future of flying cars, soulless skyscrapers and genetic scans that we're bound for. GOP: Say NO to Endorsements
Many in the conservative grass roots and Tea Party movement have been frustrated over many years by the primary endorsement process of the Republican Party committee apparatus. We have seen the PA State Committee effectively determine the outcome of elections before the primary through a flawed endorsement process that rewards those candidates that tend to "toe the line" and punish the "radical" limited government candidates that they view as "uncontrollable". The primary endorsement process has given us a long list of forgettable candidates that neither understood nor supported true limited government. The purpose of the primary is to allow the voters to decide which candidate is worthy of running in the general election, not be dictated to by the party. Pennsylvania is one of only three states (NY and NJ the others) to endorse candidates before the primary. The unendorsed candidates are blacklisted and are not permitted to attend party functions and events. Without the party endorsement it is nearly impossible to win a primary.
The Republican PA State Committee will vote on September 16th on a motion to either endorse before the primary or not endorse.
The Washington County, PA 9.12 Project has launched a statewide effort to convince PA Republican Committee persons to vote against endorsement of candidates before the primary.
We are asking ALL limited government supporters to contact their Republican Committee persons and ask them to vote to NOT endorse before the primary. You can find a list of all PA Republican Committee persons at http://thepacoalition.com/?p=2194

Porker of the Month: Sec. Tom Vilsack
|
Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has named Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack Porker of the Month for asserting in a television interview on August 16 that the Department of Agriculture's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, qualifies as "an economic stimulus," explaining that "every dollar of SNAP benefits generates $1.84 in the economy in terms of economic activity." Sec. Vilsack's claims ignited outrage from many members of the political news media and blogosphere, several of whom compared the remarks to Senate Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) July, 2010 claim that unemployment insurance "creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative" and to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney's August 10, 2011 statement that extending unemployment benefits will create "up to a million" jobs. "We are entering a brave new world for economics," said CAGW President Tom Schatz. "If one takes the ludicrous analyses of prominent Democrats seriously, it is a shame that millions more Americans do not qualify for SNAP benefits. Indeed, the best course of action going forward would be to extend SNAP to all Americans, even affluent ones with huge salaries. That seems to be the administration's pro-growth strategy." For attempting to convince taxpayers that the road to prosperity is paved with food stamps, Secretary of Agriculture Vilsack is CAGW's August, 2011 Porker of the Month. CAGW & Partners Launch SlashSpendingNow.org
|
CAGW and other top fiscally conservative organizations have joined forces to create a new website that will provide taxpayers, the media, and Congress with the most up-to-date and comprehensive recommendations to cut federal spending. SlashSpendingNow.org, a project of CAGW, Americans for Tax Reform, the National Taxpayers Union, and the 60 Plus Association, will serve as an information clearinghouse to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction ("Super Committee"), which has been tasked with finding $1.5 trillion in savings by November 23, 2011. The website is intended as a one-stop shopping site for anyone interested in the best recommendations from experts on government waste, taxes, and entitlement reform. Slashspendingnow.org includes links to substantive resources and reports on deficit reduction, as well as provides a forum for an ongoing discussion focused on how best to cut spending without raising taxes. "I am pleased to spearhead the website and we are proud to partner with our fiscally conservative allies, all of whom have substantive and specific waste-cutting proposals, as well as sound ideas for entitlement reform. While the initial purpose of the website is to be a resource for the Super Committee, it will also serve as an ongoing fount of information for Congress and the executive branch as details of deficit reduction are required over the next decade," declared CAGW President Tom Schatz. CCAGW Lauds Fiscal Conservative "Super Committee" Selections
|
The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) applauded House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) this month for their selections to the 12-member congressional "Super Committee." Speaker Boehner tapped Reps. Dave Camp (R-Mich.), Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), and Fred Upton (R-Mich.), while Sen. McConnell chose Sens. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), and Pat Toomey (R-Penn.). Each selection is likely to serve the interests of taxpayers well. The four Republican selections who served in Congress in 2010 - Sen. Kyl and Reps. Upton, Camp, and Hensarling - earned a combined 94 percent rating from CCAGW that year for their voting records on fiscal issues. Sens. Portman and Toomey were not in Congress in 2010, but both have accrued exemplary records of support for pro-taxpayer policies. Conversely, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) appointed six representatives from their party with voting records that should give taxpayers pause. The Democratic committee selections received just a 9 percent overall average rating from CCAGW last year. On the Republican selections, CCAGW President Tom Schatz commented, "These are members who, based on their voting records, recognize that the United States has arrived at the precipice of this crisis because of runaway spending, rather than a lack of revenue, and who are prepared to act accordingly in determining the best course for reducing the deficit." Interior and Commerce Appropriations Still Laden with Pork
|
CAGW has released its preliminary analyses of the House versions of the fiscal year (FY) 2012 Interior Appropriations Act and the Commerce Appropriations Act. The Interior bill contains $321.6 million for four earmarks, including $290,037,000 for Wildland Fire Management. This lump sum appears to have replaced the multiple specific and more transparent earmarks previously lavished on this program. Moreover, the cost of the earmarks in this year's bill has risen 247 percent from $92.6 million in FY 2011. The Commerce bill contains 12 earmarks, costing $368.4 million, including $237.8 million for the Space Exploration Crew Vehicle and Launch System, both part of NASA's Constellation Program, a wasteful boondoggle that CAGW has targeted for elimination. The number of earmarks dropped 98 percent from the 643 pork-barrel projects in FY 2011; however, their cost rose a disappointing 60 percent from the FY 2011 amount of $229.8 million. They hate government - until they need it
Written by Jesse Jackson
Irene has hit, leaving destruction in its wake. We could track Irene and prepare for it; we could not stop it. And now, states and localities, despite the secessionist mumblings of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, cannot pay to repair the damage. Representatives from North Carolina to Virginia to New Jersey, even those most vocal about slashing government spending, now call on Washington for help. Conservatives scorn government until they need it.
The economic disaster is a manmade, not a natural, disaster. Some economists, mostly ignored, warned about it, but could not stop it. And now, it will take federal action to repair the damage.

Manufacturing a recovery
GE executive thinks more tax dollars should go to invest in GE
The United States became the world's largest economy because we invented products and then made them with new processes. With design and fabrication side by side, insights from the factory floor flowed back to the drawing board. Today, our most important task is to restart this virtuous cycle of invention and manufacturing.
Rebuilding our manufacturing capacity requires the demolition of the idea that the United States can thrive on its service sector alone. We need to create at least 20 million jobs in the next decade to offset the effects of the recession and to address our $500 billion trade deficit in manufactured goods. These problems are related, given that the service sector accounts for only 20 percent of world trade.

We have changed the debate in this country. Two years ago, Washington was focused on new ways to spend trillions in new programs - today, the debate has finally turned towards ways our government can get its fiscal house in order.
You elected the new House Republican majority with orders to stop Washington from spending money it doesn't have, and we listened. The jobs and savings of too many Americans are at stake for Washington to continue ducking the toughest choices.
This spring, the House passed a budget that would cut spending by trillions of dollars and encourage private-sector job creation - without raising taxes. Among its key components are tax reforms that close unfair tax loopholes, while lowering the tax rates for everyone.
Unfortunately, the Democrats who still control the Senate and the White House rejected both our budget and a House-passed "Cut, Cap, and Balance" plan that would save trillions.
The Budget Control Act, which has now been signed into law, represents a step toward fiscal sanity in Washington, but only a step. It includes roughly a trillion dollars in up front deficit reduction including real caps to restrain future spending, and no new tax increases.
Bottom line, Washington can't keep spending money it does not have. By participating in the YouCut program over the past year and a half, you were among the first Americans to take action in this cause. Together, we have made a lot of progress, but much more remains to be done.
In the weeks and months ahead, be sure to stay tuned, as there will be several unique opportunities for you to participate in the legislative process. Working together, we will change Washington's culture of spending into a culture of savings.
Regards,
Rep. Eric Cantor Majority Leader

SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
- maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
- provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
- Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
- If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
- And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

Huffpo stoops to new lows in Beck attack
The laziness is nothing new in the latest Beck smear coming from the Huffington Post - once again they've simply read a phony alert from a Soros paid for blog and reposted it. But this one is beneath even their usual crappy standards. The claim: Listen to that racist Glenn Beck wonder why it's bad to call African Americans 'colored' people. Sounds horrible, right? Not so much when listening to the unedited, unmolested actual conversation. Get out the duct tape and check out Glenn's response HERE.
White House commemorates 9/11 by deleting Al Qaeda mentions
The White House is planning ahead for the 10th anniversary of the worst terror attack in U.S. History -- the September 11, 2001 attacks in NYC, PA, and Washington, DC. Those attacks, of course, happened in the United States and were perpetrated by radical Muslim terrorists - but that's not stopping the WH from urging officials to "minimize references to Al Qaeda" and calling for remembrance of all those killed across the globe. Huh? Get the full story from The Blaze.

Obama: Whose vision of America is better?
Obama tries to lay the groundwork that the Tea Party is completely responsible for all of the problems in Washington DC through comments that completely ignore his own abysmal approval ratings. Obama must really be counting on the dummies who aren't paying attention to turn out and vote because about 6 in 10 think Obama is doing a horrible job. Glenn has the audio and reaction on radio today. WATCH.
Actress Daryl Hannah, idiot, gets arrested @ White House
Star of the super super classic 'Splash' Daryl Hannah was busted in front of the White House in what could be described as one of the dumbest protests of all time. She and other enviro-freaks were sitting out in front of the White House protesting oil energy. A great time to take a stand as millions are sitting at home without power, but Daryl is only one small aspect in the world of environmental nut jobs. Glenn's reaction on radio today can be seen HERE.
