That's what Gawker is calling Ashley McDowell, the woman who bought a block of wood with an Apple logo on it, thinking it was an iPad.
Two men approached McDowell in a South Carolina McDonald's parking lot and told her they had a special deal on new iPads. They wanted $300 for their specially-painted block of wood, but when McDowell only had $180, they decided to make the deal anyway. It wasn't until McDowell got home that she realized her super cool new gadget was really a wooden block.

According to Fox News, a new poll reveals that 27 percent of Democrats would like to see a candidate other than President Obama run for office in 2012. Some are even hinting that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton could be that candidate.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds
So, here's what we need you to do .

The leftists call this a non-violent event, yet their website, Craigslist ads and Facebook postings include information on how to resist arrest, protest in jail and fight the legal system. The anarchists, Marxists and communists have put together a plan, from start to finish, to takeover America. There will be trouble. The only real question, at this point, is what are the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, the NSA and others going to do to stop this? So far, no one in the media is talking about this insurrection, aside from Glenn Beck who told of it months ago. What will you and your family do to do be safe and save our way of life? It is obvious that the commander in chief has no intention of stopping this coming event, these are, after all, his political base.

NEW YORK, July 6: The human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) will be hosting its second annual 9/11 Freedom Rally on September 11 at 3pm at Park Place and West Broadway.
Free citizens are coming from all over the U.S. to attend the rally. "It is crucial to stand for freedom on this tenth anniversary of the heinous 9/11 jihad attacks," said AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller. "We must show the jihadists we are unbowed in the defense of freedom."
AFDI and its Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) program are encouraging all Americans to stand against the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero and the anti-Semitic Durban III conference that will be held in New York City at the same time, and for American values on the tenth anniversary of the worst attack ever on American soil.
The confirmed list of speakers includes 9/11 family members Alexander and Maureen Santora, who lost their firefighter son Christopher; Sally Regenhard, whose son Christian was killed on 9/11; Nelly Braginsky, who lost her son Alexander; and others.
Other speakers include former U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton (video message); the courageous ex-Muslim human rights activist Wafa Sultan; war hero and North Carolina Congressional candidate Ilario Pantano; former prosecutor and bestselling author Andrew C. McCarthy; popular radio host Joyce Kaufman; Darla Dawald, National Director of the Patriot Action Network; James Lafferty of the Virginia Anti-Sharia Taskforce (VAST); Coptic Christian activist Joseph Nassralla; Iraqi ex-Muslim Paul Gaynos.

AFDI/SIOA is one of America's foremost organizations defending human rights, religious liberty, and the freedom of speech against Islamic supremacist intimidation and attempts to bring elements of Sharia to the United States.

There is no one else in local media who matches Dom when it comes to standing up for Israel, patriotism and integrity. Dom has taken on guests and callers on 1210 AM WPHT Radio who distort the facts about Israel, and he goes out of his way to speak truthfully about the Arab war against the Jews because it is the right thing to do.

That's why a coalition of citizens and health care professionals will present "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About ObamaCare But Didn't Know Who to Ask"on the campus of DeSales University in Center Valley, PAfrom 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 - which, ironically, happens to be Constitution Day. DeSalesUniversity is located in the Lehigh Valley of PA, within easy driving distance of the major population centers of central, northeast, and southeast PA.
Policy professionals, physicians, business and legislative leaders, and representatives from groups most affected by the PPACA will share their insights and expertise through presentations, breakout sessions, exhibits, and panel discussions.
They'll explain how ObamaCare affects personal liberty and the Constitution, families and seniors, taxpayers, Medicare and the deficit, insurance premiums and the uninsured, businesses, employees and the economy, doctors, patients, and access to care, American innovation in medicine, and more.
Also included will be detailed updates on state and national efforts to defund, repeal, replace, and nullify ObamaCare from some of the legislative leaders spearheading those efforts.
Participants will leave the three hour event far more informed about what's in the PPACA than most of the legislators who voted for it, and will be energized to get involved in the fight to save America's health care. The shrieking is highly amusing, not least for the reason that most of the poor schmucks doing it are fairly transparently trying to avoid thinking about the fact that the current administration is more or less doing a Cargo Cult imitation of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice's foreign policy. Which is to say, if you look at it from a distance and squint then it kind of looks like the previous administration's foreign policy... but get up close and you realize that it's all bamboo and palm fronds where steel should be. Not to mention all the people standing around and scratching their heads over why the magic spells weren't working.
Then again, that's an improvement over our 2008 expectations with regard to this administration.
There are few spectacles more sad than to see a man burn down his own integrity. Watching someone who has lived their life according to a certain ethos, in this case I will be referring to "Duty. Honor. Country.", and callously cast that lodestar aside for no discernable reason other than to settle a score shames those who witness the act nearly as much as it shames the perpetrator. Nearly.
Some very few times we are given the opportunity to appropriately redress a wrong. I say appropriately because a wrong needs to be righted in the same manner in which it was inflicted. A private apology never atones for a public insult. When that opportunity presents itself and is declined one is left with no other possible conclusion than one is dealing with a person devoid of honor and integrity.
This past weekend retired general and former Secretary of State Colin Powell was presented with the golden opportunity to right a grave injustice he inflicted upon colleagues, upon the man to whom he owed his loyalty, and upon his nation.
He not only declined to do so, he dismissed the notion that he had anything to do with the wrong.

FBI: Penetration by radical agents worse than thought

As I sit here in the sunken ruins of New York City, breathing oxygen through a two mile straw, and shopping by dispatching orders through a helpful school of fish-- I can't help but think that I should have listened to the media when they told me to panic, run to the stores and pay 40 dollars for batteries, and then listen to every weather update while waiting for the end to come.
But of course none of that actually happened. There are places where hurricanes are dangerous, but the city I live in is not one of them. Aside from a few downed trees, some power loss and a little flooding near the river, the same things that happen every few years, there was nothing to speak of. Nothing except a vast media driven overreaction.
Hurricane Irene is just another entry in the non-stop shriek of media driven panic. The news cycle is fed by three main types of stories, salacious gossip, horrible tragedies and panic stories. All three are culturally destructive, but the third is the most insidious because it contains a germ of truth that is inflated to spread panic. Hurricanes are dangerous, so are child molesters and the swine flu-- but they are also elements in a news cycle that is intended to induce a state of permanent panic.

Government watchdogs are blasting the Obama campaign's decision to name its 2012 voter-registration initiative "Project Vote" - the same name as a group closely linked to the discredited ACORN organization.
Members of ACORN were caught on undercover video giving two supposed clients detailed instructions on how to commit fraud, and ACORN faced a number of voter-registration fraud cases following the 2008 election.
Use of the Project Vote name by the Obama campaign is "truly astonishing," Tom Fitton, president of the conservative Judicial Watch good-government group, tells Newsmax. "We knew President Obama was the president from ACORN. And if this isn't an indication of it, we don't know what is."

A Wisconsin labor council that sponsors the Labor Day parade in Wausau is giving Republican lawmakers their walking papers - in the form of banning them from walking in the parade this year - saying they are unfriendly to union workers.
The action is the latest salvo in the political fallout from Republican Gov. Scott Walker's reining in collective-bargaining rights for public employees to cut the state budget. Republicans supported the measure, while Democrats were so opposed that several senators fled the state to avoid voting on it.

In addition to his being Jewish, Dyatlov "hates" Lieberman, he wrote, because he is "liberal," doesn't like two of Dyatlov's musical idols (both of whom are ultra-liberal), and because he finds it to be a threat that Lieberman is on the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
What else does Dyatlov put up to the peephole of the Internet? On "Competitive Collaboration" his blog (which was still online as of this writing), he wrote that Adolf Hitler was really just an artist who used blood instead of paint, and anyway he did that because "some stupid Jews" stifled his ambition.

Under a new Florida law, people applying for welfare have to take a drug test at their own expense. If they pass, they are eligible for benefits and the state reimburses them for the test. If they fail, they are denied welfare for a year, until they take another test.
Mandatory drug testing for welfare applicants is becoming a popular idea across the U.S. Many states - including Alabama, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Louisiana - are considering adopting laws like Florida's. At the federal level, Senator David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, has introduced the Drug Free Families Act of 2011, which would require all 50 states to drug-test welfare applicants.
NYT's Krugman gets angry over fake quote, but his real ones are just as bad

A fake quote from New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, allegedly from the columnist's account at Google Plus, made the rounds Tuesday: "People on Twitter might be joking, but in all seriousness, we would see a bigger boost in spending and hence economic growth if the earthquake had done more damage."
Carlos Graterol, a Florida State University graduate, later admitted to impersonating Krugman at Google Plus to mock the economist-turned-columnist's Keynesian embrace of the "broken-window" fallacy - the idea that acts of destruction actually stimulate the economy by forcing spending on things like rebuilding. Of course, money that is spent on rebuilding can no longer be spent on other, more productive things.

Consider the massive earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan earlier this year - a catastrophe that killed more than 22,000 people, caused the worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl, and pitched the already sagging Japanese economy into recession. Three days after disaster struck, the Huffington Post published Nathan Gardels's essay celebrating "The Silver Lining of Japan's Quake.'' Urging his readers to "look past the devastation,'' he rejoiced that "Mother Nature has accomplished what fiscal policy and the central bank could not.'' Now the Japanese would have lots of bridges to build, "entire cities and regions'' to reconstruct, and information networks to revamp.
Republican presidential contender and Texas Gov. Rick Perry continued his criticisms of Social Security, calling the program a "monstrous lie" the Houston Chronicle reported.
"It is a Ponzi scheme for these young people," Perry said Saturday at a campaign stop in Ottumwa, Iowa. "The idea that they're working and paying into Social Security today, that the current program is going to be there for them, is a lie. It is a monstrous lie on this generation, and we can't do that to them."

As the United States continues on its downward trajectory, thanks to the policies of the Obama administration, the debate rages about whether he's doing it all on purpose or is just incompetent. When talk radio giant Rush Limbaugh discusses this, he concludes that "it doesn't matter" because the result is the same either way.
Limbaugh misses a very critical line of distinction when he says that. If Obama is incompetent, it means he must be voted out of office. If he is intentionally destroying the country as it was founded, it means he has malicious intent and must be removed through impeachment and a Senate trial. It would also mean that he is a domestic enemy.
It wouldn't matter if Al Capone were president of the United States, impeachment and a Senate trial is the only way to remove a sitting president from office....
On August 18, President Obama's Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano sent a letter to members of Congress announcing the administration's new immigration policy. The U.S. government will exercise "prosecutorial discretion" to end deportation proceedings against illegal immigrants who do not pose a threat to public safety or national security, which describes the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants.
According to the Wall Street Journal, "Administration officials said low-priority cases likely to be shelved include individuals brought to the U.S. as children by their parents, undocumented spouses of U.S. military personnel, and immigrants who have no criminal record." Thus, the administration conflates the two most sympathetic subsets of illegals with the vast majority of illegal immigrants who have not been convicted of any serious crime.
The administration has made clear that minor criminal convictions, such as for motor vehicle violations, won't trigger deportation. The government will not initiate proceedings against illegal aliens....
Former Department of Justice officials are calling for an investigation into current hiring practices, which they say have become politicized under Attorney General Eric Holder and the Obama administration.

The Freedom "Brain Trust" That Sparked an Agenda 21 Revolt

Just one year ago I sponsored the Freedom Action National Conference at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. It turned out to be an historic gathering, because this was the event that essentially parked the current national firestorm against the UN's Agenda 21. Here activists from around the nation heard from the foremost Agenda 21 experts about why this United Nations' policy is such a threat to American society. And from this event, those activists returned home, inspired to take on the battle to oust such policy from their local communities.
Those experts bringing the message to the conference included Michael Shaw, founder of Freedom Advocates; Mike Coffman of Sovereignty International and myself. The three of us have been a team for more than 15 years, detailing every aspect of the Agenda 21 threat. At the Freedom Action National Conference we again teamed up to bring the very latest Agenda 21 information, including how it is being spread in community after community; the wide variety of names it hides behind; who are the perpetrators, who is ICLEI, and how Agenda 21 can be defeated.
In addition to these direct presentations on Agenda 21, the conference featured an incredible line up of leaders in the growing movement for Constitutional liberty. One attendee told me I had assembled the "brain trust" of the freedom movement. These experts connected the dots to Agenda 21 from such seemingly unrelated issues including Health care; illegal immigration; the growing international surveillance system, and the threat of fusion centers; the IRS and how to legally stand up to it; and the reasons why the push for a Constitutional Convention is a very bad idea.
The Freedom Action National Conference was also a gathering place for several influential state legislators, including Rep. Charles Key, of Oklahoma; Rep. Matt Shea, of Washington State; Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, of Pennsylvania; and Rep. Sam Rohrer, of Pennsylvania. These legislators met together during the conference and began working on legislation to take back to their states, and to recruit more legislators to the cause. The conference allowed them the opportunity to learn, compare notes and network with activists.
Best selling author, Tom Woods discussed the issue of Nullification and how it can be used to turn back bad policy like Agenda 21. Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America connected the dots from gun control to Agenda 21. And Marc Morano, the nation's leading expert on the Global Warming hoax, kept the crowd in constant laughter as he related the panic global warming scare mongers are experiencing as they see their issue collapsing around the world. Former presidential candidate and Constitution expert, Michael Badnarik gave the conference key note address, calling on the attendees to dedicate themselves to the principles of the Constitution. And Sheriff Richard Mack taught the gathering how county sheriffs can and should be the most powerful locally elected officials, fully able to keep intrusive federal officials under control.
From these dynamic presentations, the Freedom Action participants went into workshops to learn how to fight back against these policies. Education expert Beverly Eakman presented a workshop detailing how to disrupt pre-planned consensus meetings - the tactic most often used to enforce Agenda 21 policy on the local level. Dan Byfield of the American Stewards of Liberty delivered a powerful workshop on a valuable new tool for the fight on the local level - called "Coordination." This was the major tool used to stop the Trans-Texas Corridor and is now being used in communities across the nation against Agenda 21 and intrusive federal policies. Campaign expert Barry Sheets taught attendees how to run an effective local campaign on very limited funds. And finally, media experts Sam Bushman, Gary Franchi, and George Sheperd united to teach how to use the media and social net works to get the message out and bypass a biased mainstream media. Each workshop was an invaluable lesson in effective activism.
As a result of the Freedom Action National Conference, activists started what has become a revolution in the fight to stop Agenda 21. Firestorms against Agenda 21 have erupted in communities across the nation, in city council and county commissioner meetings; in state legislatures and, most recently, in the current presidential race. Major Tea Party leaders have voted Agenda 21 to be one of their top two issues and many candidates for local and state office are making it a major issue in their campaigns. As a direct result, nine communities have now voted to end Agenda 21 policies and hundreds more are working toward that goal.
This major push against Agenda 21 started last August, 2010 with the Freedom Action National Conference on the same hallowed ground where George Washington revitalized his starving and defeated troops to go on to win American freedom. And it looks like history may be repeating itself. The Freedom Action National Conference was an amazing, unique event that created a starting point where Americans can begin the process to diminish the growing tyranny of government.

Rubio's and Reagan's America
Recently, Americans rated Ronald Reagan as the nation's greatest president. Reagan merits such praise, because his ideas were successful: they ended the domestic economic recession and the international threat of communism. But Reagan's ideas were successful, because they were anchored in certain timeless principles. And now these principles have a new face: Marco Rubio. Like Ronald Reagan before him, Marco Rubio is the first to deny that he is great communicator; he is just communicating great ideas. In his speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library last week, Rubio evokes the Gipper as he invokes the same principles:
Limited Government: "Defining the proper role of government is as important as it has ever been." Our current domestic and international problems do not require us to reject limited, constitutional government in favor of an ever-expanding bureaucratic one. Since Reagan left office, both Republicans and Democrats have strengthened the government instead of strengthening America. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have delegated legislative powers to administrative agencies, allowing unelected, unaccountable "experts" to make the rules by which we live.
Inalienable Rights: "Government's job is to protect rights, not grant them." The Declaration of Independence proclaimed the self evident truth that we are endowed with inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The government does not have the power to guarantee happiness. And we ought not to forget that the government that gives us rights can also take them away.
A Compassionate America: "Poverty does not create social problems. Our social problems create our poverty." Americans want a free, prosperous, and also compassionate America. Yet, replacing families, neighborhoods, and communities with government programs is not compassion. Welfare has a legitimate purpose: to provide temporary assistance to those in dire need so they can get back on their feet. But welfare programs today are not acting as safety nets-they are becoming hammocks.
Free Enterprise: "The free enterprise system creates prosperity." The goal of economic policy in a free enterprise system is not redistribution or "sharing responsibility"-it's growth. Government's job is to create a system of fair taxes and regulations that enables and encourages Americans to be productive. The role of government is to create a fair playing ground, not arbitrarily pick winners and losers. As the son of a poor immigrant, Rubio understands that poverty occurs when people do not have the opportunity to access free enterprise system.
Opportunity: "We have a golden opportunity." Reagan said that conservative principles would bring a "new morning in America," and Rubio sees the same opportunity today. We are at the beginning of a new era. Yes, a recession is not an ideal place to begin. But as Reagan proved years ago, a recession is not insurmountable.
When Marco Rubio was in grade school, the American economy was suffering a severe recession and the Soviet Union seemed to be the future global power. By the time he went to college, the economy was strong and the Soviet Union had been consigned to the ash heap of history. The principles that guided the Reagan revolution are sound. We don't need leaders to reinvent our principles; we need leaders to apply them.
I'm a fan of both politics and sports. They're of interest because they have so many similarities. The competition angle is obvious, of course, but the skills, personal qualities and uniqueness of the players in both arenas of combat are what really catch the fans' attention.
But I've been focusing on the careers of politicians very closely, simply because the sport of politics is the bread and butter to every one of us. Two members especially catch my eye, for at first glance they seem to have a bit in common. Congressman Allen West and President Barack Obama, when brought up in discussions, are considered "black men." That's where their similarities end. West is the proud descendant of slaves, while Obama is a first-generation American, a descendant of West African Muslim slave traders. Big difference.
Imagine if MSNBC gave a TV show to a violent racist who led angry mobs against Jewish and Asian communities and businesses. Mobs that gathered outside a Jewish synagogue chanting "Heil Hitler" and "Death to the Jews."
Unimaginable, right? Wrong. After years of accusing FOX News of racism, MSNBC gave a violent racist his own show. Of course MSNBC would never give a white racist like David Duke his own show. But they have no problem giving one to Al Sharpton.
Sharpton is many things-a cunning gutter clown, a hate-filled agitator and a savvy trader in political favors. Those qualities have taken him from street riots to a kingmaker role in the Democratic Party to the White House, where he has become its link to the black community.

House GOP revs up a repeal, reduce and rein-in agenda for the fall

House Republicans are planning votes for almost every week this fall in an effort to repeal environmental and labor requirements on business that they say have hampered job growth.
With everyone from President Obama to his Republican challengers in the 2012 campaign focusing on ways to spur economic growth, House Republicans will roll out plans Monday to fight regulations from the National Labor Relations Board, pollution rules handed down by the Environmental Protection Agency and regulations that affect health plans for small businesses. In addition, the lawmakers plan to urge a 20 percent tax deduction for small businesses.
Sometime next week-we don't quite know when-President Barack Obama is due to announce his latest jobs plan designed to lift America out of its unemployment doldrums. And though we also don't know the exact details of the plan, there's a pretty good chance it will include several key components we've heard before, one of which is the extension of unemployment benefits.
Much like the President's other likely initiatives, this idea isn't a new one, and the White House has made the argument before that unemployment benefits are the best thing since sliced bread when it comes to stimulating the economy. In a White House briefing earlier this month, press secretary Jay Carney explained the rationale:
[Extending unemployment benefits] is one of the most direct ways to infuse money into the economy because people who are unemployed and obviously aren't earning a paycheck are going to spend the money that they get. They're not going to save it; they're going to spend it. And unemployment insurance, that money goes directly back into the economy dollar for dollar virtually.

Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
