FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 20, 2011 The Tea Party Immigration Coalition Responds to the Obama Administration Amnesty of Illegal Aliens Thursday, August 18th the Obama Administration announced on the White House Blog that "Under the President's direction..." The Department of Homeland Security would suspend deportation proceedings against illegal aliens and, "There are more than 10 million people who are in the U.S. illegally; it's clear that we can't deport such a large number." Arizona Governor Jan Brewer called the plan, "A backdoor amnesty." Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), chairman of the Homeland Security Committee issue a press release declaring, "This new non-enforcement policy announced by the Obama Administration Thursday is a blatant attempt to grant amnesty to potentially millions of illegal aliens in this country." "This is an amnesty for illegal aliens," concurred John Stahl, Chairman of the Tea Party Immigration Coalition. "It is an amnesty and a surrender of sovereignty, as they have made it clear they don't intend to deport illegal aliens." A Rassmussen Telephone poll of 1,000 likely voters conducted two days before the White House announcement reports that voters put border control ahead of amnesty by a 2-1 margin, 61% to 31%. "With so many Americans opposing amnesty," Stahl said, "One wonders if this isn't an attempt to manufacture illegal alien voters for next year's election. Or, could this amnesty be a payoff to the Mexican government who is understandably furious about the Department of Justice shipping thousands of weapons to drug cartel killers in Mexico? "This non-enforcement policy should be investigated by Congress who should make this their first priority when they return in September. Because, if this is allowed to stand, King Obama will be able to rule, not by law, but by decree. We are asking constitutional experts to determine if this is an impeachable offense. We are also calling on Tea Party members and all patriotic Americans to flood the offices of congress with phone calls denouncing this amnesty that will gravely harm America and Americans." Stand Against Ground Zero Mosque, and Durban III, Stand for America
NEW YORK, July 6: The human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) will be hosting its second annual 9/11 Freedom Rally on September 11 at 3pm at Park Place and West Broadway.
Free citizens are coming from all over the U.S. to attend the rally. "It is crucial to stand for freedom on this tenth anniversary of the heinous 9/11 jihad attacks," said AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller. "We must show the jihadists we are unbowed in the defense of freedom."
AFDI and its Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) program are encouraging all Americans to stand against the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero and the anti-Semitic Durban III conference that will be held in New York City at the same time, and for American values on the tenth anniversary of the worst attack ever on American soil.
The confirmed list of speakers includes 9/11 family members Alexander and Maureen Santora, who lost their firefighter son Christopher; Sally Regenhard, whose son Christian was killed on 9/11; Nelly Braginsky, who lost her son Alexander; and others.
Other speakers include former U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton (video message); the courageous ex-Muslim human rights activist Wafa Sultan; war hero and North Carolina Congressional candidate Ilario Pantano; former prosecutor and bestselling author Andrew C. Building the Ground Zero mosque is not an issue of religious freedom, but of resisting an effort to insult the victims of 9/11 and to establish a beachhead for political Islam and Islamic supremacism in New York. We are seeking the support of the President of the University to sponsor a flag memorial. On its own, TUSIF, for Wednesday, September 7th, has arranged for a great singer Elizabeth Salvatico and her impressive band to play a range of songs including both Salsa and of course patriotic songs to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of 9/11. At the same event, TUSIF is hosting Mr. Bivona to speak; he was a first-responder on September 11.

There is no one else in local media who matches Dom when it comes to standing up for Israel, patriotism and integrity. Dom has taken on guests and callers on 1210 AM WPHT Radio who distort the facts about Israel, and he goes out of his way to speak truthfully about the Arab war against the Jews because it is the right thing to do.
Rabbi Kazan has been a fervent champion of Israel and has inspired generations of local Jews to have a place in their heart for the Jewish State. Whether it be currently at Historic Congregation Kesher Israel where he is religious leader, or Temple Adath Israel where he is Rabbi Emeritus, or at Beth Sholom where he served, or during his tours of Jewish Philadelphia he leads, he has been a proponent for Israel.

1. The Goldwater Talking Point
The media typically begins any Presidential campaign with comparisons to Harry Truman. The Reagan re-election in 1984 had the comparison. The Bush re-election in 1992 had the comparison. The Clinton re-election in 1996 had the comparison. Humorously, the off year election of 2002 used the Truman comparison too, as did 2004.
The media does this not only because a lot of them are lazy and not only because a lot of them talk with each other at beltway soirees where they infect each other with their various often contrived narratives and talking points, but also because they really do want to help put the election in some historic context.
Whenever a President is embattled, the media falls back to Truman.
But there is something else the media does - and typically does because of a leftward bias, a reliance on both establishment Republicans in Washington as their chief GOP sources and their Democratic friends as Democratic sources- they compare the Republican Primary to 1964.
Every conservative candidate must withstand the "Is he Barry Goldwater" question. Never mind that Barry Goldwater has been tried repeatedly by the Democrats and the only person it ever worked against was Barry Goldwater.
The Democrats have made clear, and the media is seizing on, President Obama's campaign statements that if Rick Perry is the nominee, they'll go with Goldwater 1964 and if Mitt Romney is the nominee, they'll go with John Kerry 2004 as the flip flopping opportunist. Neither of these will work this year and all you have to do is follow along as I step in the way back machine and take you back to the news as it existed on the campaign trail of 1979 and 1980.
"Is defeat probable for GOP if Reagan wins nomination?" blared the headline of the Christian Science Monitor on March 5, 1980. That was just the start of it.
2. Obama to farmer: 'Call the USDA.'
So, Wednesday - while campaigning in Illinois, although I understand that we're supposed to pretend that Obama isn't actually campaigning, for some bizarre reason - the President of the United States faced with a technical question (the effects of new EPA's soil and dust regulations on Illinois farmers) by a technical expert (an Illinois farmer). Um. These scientists you trust, some of them at least, are accused of data manipulation and standing the peer-review process on its head. Call me crazy, but I don't trust them.

The referenced scientists are a meteorologist and a geographer from Penn State and another researcher from NASA's Planetary Science Division.

In light of recent events and long standing policies, I could forgive someone for thinking the above comment came from the lips of some perspective 2012 Tea Party Candidate. Of course this isn't one of the many 2012 hopefuls, this is Sir Edmund Burke in his Speech on Conciliation with America. This speech was given in 1775 in the House of Commons, prior to our Declaration of Independence.
Having witnessed the many changes in sentiment and conduct of Parliament, the ever changing ground put beneath America's feet, and the continued failure to produce results, it is no wonder that Burke concluded that 'under them the state of America has been kept in continual agitation.'
5. On the Nature of the Perry Attacks
Rick Perry once tried to get out of a speeding ticket.
Rick Perry once owned stock in a chain of video stores competing against Blockbuster, some of which also rented adult movies.
Rick Perry once was a Democrat.
The attacks have come fast and furious against him. But most of the attacks take on a peculiar and very telling strain.
A reporter on television or in print will utter a sentence like this, "Privately many Republican consultants suggest Rick Perry may be too Texas or shoot from the hip too much and might turn off necessary independent voters and women."
It sounds so serious. As Alex Castellanos said on CNN the other night on John King USA, some fear Rick Perry might have "Mad Cowboy Disease."
Let me sum this all up for you into what Rick Perry's biggest problem is.
Whether you are talking about Alex (Team Carole Strayhorn 2006) or Karl Rove (Team Kay Bailey Hutchison 2010) or a host of other national Republican consultants, Rick Perry and his Texas team have beaten a significant portion of them.
But they did not just beat them. In many cases, Team Perry then shut the consultants who opposed him out of future business with him.
So there are scores and scores of Republican consultants who have scores to settle with Rick Perry and his team. And for guys like Karl Rove, if Perry were to win the White House, Karl and a few others would see themselves shut out of White House business for at least four years.
Rick Perry may be the only guy in America to have beaten both Karl Rove and also Obama's own consultant, David Axelrod.
6. Verizon Strikers Head Back to Work Without New Agreement
After two weeks of striking, it appears that the red shirts at the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) are heading back to work without a contract in hand. . . .
This back to work agreement comes just before the CWA would begin paying up to $300 per week in strike benefits to its striking members, saving the union up to $10 million per week out of its union treasury.

Over a year ago, the president of the United Auto Workers, Bob King, announced a campaign to 'shame' foreign automakers with plants here in the U.S. into allowing his union to unionize them-the details of which would be released at a later point in time.
Earlier this year, when King finally released his new manifesto on what he expected the automakers to agree to, it was met with well-deserved derision.

London's mayhem might spread beyond her borders
A visitor arriving from outer space would discover a world filled with chaos and anger and, parenthetically, a world that is leaderless and rudderless. The world order that was so familiar to most of the world just a few years ago has deteriorated, leaving many of its inhabitants scared, confused and concerned for the future of the globe. Ironically, people are less concerned about a nuclear exchange or an intercontinental world war - though, no doubt, these issues are at the periphery of their thoughts. Most are concerned with such basic issues as personal safety, jobs and, law and order in their respective urban centers as, for example what we have seen of late in London, Philadelphia, or Cairo. And, there are those who are preoccupied with the collapse of the global economic structure, its consequences on global markets and the prospects of a worldwide depression.
Pictures shown on TV show images that are hard to believe, they defy realities we have known for decades. The burning streets of London when juxtaposed with the recent royal wedding; Egypt's dictator Hosni Mubarak, humiliated and helpless in a cage on trial in Cairo, when only a year ago a confident Mubarak set out to anoint his son Jamal as his successor. And in Libya and Syria, Gaddafi and Assad are killing their own citizens literally "in front of a watching world". All this seems perhaps unreal, let say a bit surreal, but in the brave new world of Obama and Cameron it has become a reality.
CBS News reported on August 13, 2011 on "Stubborn poverty and high unemployment, services slashed due to recessionary budget cuts, a breakdown of social values, social media that bring people together for good or bad at the speed of the Internet, and finally a handful of actual attacks, isolated and hard to explain, by bands of youths in U.S. cities." The report pointed out that "Racial friction is an uncertain element. In Britain, TV images have shown mixed-race crowds creating mayhem. In recent mob violence in Philadelphia and Milwaukee, attackers were black and victims white. Even though it's unclear how much race motivates today's mob violence, many see it as one of a combination of factors, which together make the grip of American law and order feel less secure."
Peggy Noonan in her Wall Street Journal column of Friday August 12, 2011 wrote "What we're seeing on the streets in Britain right now is something we may be starting to see here [in the U.S.]"
While London and other British cities were burning, the United Kingdom's police force appeared helpless in facing off against gangs of hoodlums undeterred by figures of law and order. The "tough" words of Prime Minister David Cameron did not put fear in the hearts of British gang members who are, in large measure, the sons and daughters of immigrants, and whose arrogance is a bi-product of the British multi-cultural legacy. In America, the ruinous economic policies of an amateurish president, Barak Obama, have caused the S&P to downgrade the U.S. credit rating and plunge the U.S. into a social and economic mess.
The pro-western Arab regimes of Egypt and Tunisia have collapsed, and the prospect ofincreased Islamization - of the Sunni variety - appears likely throughout the Arab Middle East. In the meantime, the Arab world faces increased economic hardships, instability and chaos.
The countries of the European Union are also falling apart, mired with mounting debt along its southern tier. European, over the years have become increasingly self absorbed, Godless, and hedonistic. European elites who have allowed a wave of immigrants from the Third World - mostly from North Africa's Muslim states - while the birthrates of native Europeans which have been well below replacement levels, are now reaping what they have sowed. Europeans live for today with little thought of tomorrow - a lifestyle some psychologists might describe as clinical depression.
The collapse of U.S. and global economies that began the slide towards depression in 2008, revealed the critical absence of global leadership. There are no leaders with the stature such as Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, or even Bill Clinton. The tragedy for the U.S. is that this one time super-power is being led by an former community organizer with no executive experience who is incapable of effectively handling the crisis ofconfidence he has created.
The people in charge, whether in Britain or the U.S. have no idea how to solve the economic and social crisis engulfing large swaths of the world. Laws upheld for centuries in the West are not being enforced or are being simply overlooked and criminal gangs in London and Philadelphia, and gangster leaders like Assad, Gaddafi, and Ahmadinejad are not being held accountable and punished by the U.N. or brought down by a super-power like Obama's U.S.A. The criminal gangsters and the incompetent western "leaders" have broken the rules of civilized behavior and there is no one to set them straight.
The upheaval being experienced throughout the West world and beyond is bound to spread to China through the Internet and the social media. In India we have seen anger over the culture of corruption gaining steam, which bodes ill for the current government. And, as repression has its limits. Putin's Russia may soon experience the people's frustration via their social networks as well.
In this crazy new fearful world, the lines between right and wrong have been deeply blurred, and there is no longer any pretence of decency and morality. Israel, an open and pluralistic democracy is seen by the U.N. as the constant villain, and regarded by the Europeans press as "the most dangerous state in the world." An EU poll ranked Israel above Iran and North Korea as a threat to world peace. And, the UN Human Rights Council, which President Bush declined to join, but whose membership President Obama eagerly accepted, boasts a membership that includes Libya and Saudi Arabia - both such strong "models of human rights and religious freedom observance." To make matters even stranger, U.S. President Obama panders to the Muslim world and only under duress relented on his appeasement of Iran and Syria while pressuring the Jewish state to make suicidal concessions.
Not too long ago, America's voice was heard wide and strong, and there were consequences for those states and groups that harmed U.S. interests or broke the international moral code. Nature, it is said, abhors a vacuum and in the absence of leadership and a moral compass world chaos and mayhem have become the norm.

Tip from Afghanistan

I received a tip from a soldier stationed with an aviation brigade out of Jalalabad overnight.
"Almost immediately, after news of the crash began to spread, we were placed in an internet and phone blackout. This means communication with family, friends and "others" back home, in real time, is prevented until further notice.
However, there are also chinook pilots, crews and mechanics assigned here who were privy to the details of the crash almost immediately. One of confirmed details they have been discussing is that the chinook shot down belonged to a National Guard unit. Which is causing people to whisper in astonishment, "why were some of the most elite of America's military, in such large numbers, tooling around on a National Guard aircraft?"
Also, those around me are wondering why such a large number(extremely unconventional for Seals, Green Berets, etc) of them riding in a single aircraft instead of being spread out into numerous aircraft.
Without question, I mean no disrespect to the pilots and crew of the National Guard aircraft, but the fact is that it's very "strange" that Seals would be conducting an actual mission, with such large numbers, in such a basic aircraft. Especially, given the fact, that there were special operation chinooks easily available, and sitting idle, when this tragedy took place."
I am not a journalist. I have no means of checking this. But SOMEONE needs to investigate if in fact the SEALS were on a National Guard helo, if there were SPECOPS Chinooks available and idle, and what the difference in armament is between Guard Chinooks and SPECOPS Chinooks. This potential difference in armament is HUGE and could account for the possibility of the Chinook being shot down by an RPG, if that is what happened.
Hello? Journalists? Anyone out there?
UPDATE: The SPECOPS Chinook is a very different beast that is heavily upgraded with enhanced survivability features. It is the Boeing MH-47E/G. Boeing's Homepage for the SPECOPS chinook here. The soldier quoted above contends that the SEALS were NOT in one of these units, but rather in a standard Chinook while these SPECOPS Chinooks were available and sitting idle. Again, a JOURNALIST needs to confirm this.

Ann, I'm sure you're getting a lot of notes on the Chinook debacle. I'm retired USAF familiar with how the system works when it comes to the questions asked by your Jalalabad contact. First, look to the Command Authority. Dispersion protocols are almost never broken except on direct order up the chain high enough that nobody could question or refuse the order without jeopardizing their career. Second, 'who benefits'? Follow the trail of beneficiaries to the incident. Tactically, intell had to be passed to the shooters as to the timetable. I'm willing to bet that there were several RPG's (if not Stinger's - remember, we provided quite a few and never kept a record during the Soviet incursion into Afghanistan) involved. Then, once fired, the shooters had to egress unseen to fight another day. Many people I know, including some recently back from that area say this stinks to high Heaven, as you do.

No, the Chinook could not have been shot down with a 1980s-era Stinger supplied by the U.S. when the Soviets were in Afghanistan. It turns out that U.S. Stingers were designed to have an "expiration date" after which they became useless and inert. The seeker head of the U.S. Stinger contained a coolant that degraded over time. All U.S. Stingers in Afghanistan are long since inert. The risk today in Afghanistan are the Russian "Grail" and French "Mistral" MANPADS (Man Portable Air Defense Systems)
Following up on the RPG question, we have lost only one (that I can find) SPECOPS Chinook to RPG fire, and that incident saw the RPG shot go inside the cabin of the SPECOPS Chinook through an open hatch. It was a Golden BB shot. That tells us that the SPECOPS Chinooks are extremely resilient and have high combat survivability. The SPECOPS Chinooks are like a heavily armored Brinks truck. A standard National Guard Chinook would be analogous to a FedEx truck by comparison. You never pack 25 SEALs into one helo as a point of dispersion protocol, as stated by a reader below. I have been told that a MINIMUM of three helos would normally be used for a group of that size. And IF they were indeed in a standard National Guard Chinook and not a SPECOPS Chinook, that would be like rolling out in a FedEx truck with your extremely precious cargo.
(Every human being is infinitely precious, but we can all agree that from a battlefield standpoint, SEALs are "tactically precious.")

In response to a Congressional request the Department of Defense Inspector General "determined that ballistic testing and quality assurance for Interceptor Body Armor inserts did not have proper controls to ensure that the ballistic inserts met contract requirements." According to this report the Army cannot assure our troops that the issued body armor will protect them in combat. In times of austere budgets the military must ensure that all equipment meets specifications.
Testing, Incomplete and Inconsistent
The Army Program Manager did not ensure consistent testing of the armor vests as delivered from seven different contractors. Two contract provided vests lots were not tested to confirm their compliance with standards. For a $2.5 billion contract over two years, this is gambling with the lives of soldiers. Worse still, the armor was not tested in all environments, altitudes and combat situations; a firefight in the mountains in Afghanistan is not the ... US makes criminals priority deportation
Obama tells illegals, "hang out, vote."
Many illegal immigrants who were facing deportation despite having no criminal record will be allowed to stay in the country and apply for a work permit under new rules from the Homeland Security Department. Republicans are balking at the change.

Retailers raise prices to offset U.S. labor costs
Simple economics
Retailers and restaurants are raising consumer prices to help compensate for higher labor costs, which increased the most in almost three years during the second quarter.
Fifty-three percent of these companies with annual sales of $10 million to $500 million have lifted prices during the last 12 months, up from 32 percent a year ago, according to a quarterly survey by Barlow Research Associates. This comes as U.S. inflation excluding food and energy costs accelerated at an annual pace of 1.8 percent in July, the biggest such gain in more than a year, according to Labor Department data released yesterday.

China Threatening U.S. Space Superiority
Yesterday in New York City, NASA's last space shuttle astronauts visited a World War II aircraft carrier-turned-museum docked on the west side of Manhattan. The carrier is one of four museums where retired NASA shuttles will go to rest now that the historic shuttle program has ended.

JUDICIAL WATCH HISTORIC VICTORY! Court Slaps Down Obama Administration Secrecy, Rules White House Visitor Logs Subject to FOIA
In a historic victory for Judicial Watch and an embarrassing defeat for the Obama administration, a federal court ruled on Wednesday that Secret Service White House visitor logs are agency records that are subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act! (U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell issued the decision in Judicial Watch v. Secret Service, (No. 09-2312)).
Here's the bottom line: The Obama administration will now have to release all records of all visitors to the White House - or explain why White House visits should be kept secret under law.
In our lawsuit we asked the court to order the release of Secret Service logs of White House visitors from January 20, 2009, to August 10, 2009. The Obama administration's principal argument had been that the logs were not "agency" records subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). And just in case that argument didn't hold water, Obama administration lawyers took a kitchen sink approach in attempting to stop our lawsuit, asserting a number of other arguments regarding why these records should not be released. The court struck them all down, one by one.

- The Obama administration argued the visitor logs are not "agency" records subject to FOIA. The court applied a standard "two-part" test, and ultimately concluded, "...the Secret Service argues that it is unable to dispose of the records freely because they are ultimately White House records and not agency records. This argument is circular. The claimed restrictions on disposal stem from the defendant's assumption that the documents are under Presidential control-the exact point that the defendant seeks to prove to establish that the documents are not subject to FOIA."
Judicial Watch noted in its complaint filed on December 7, 2009, the Obama administration's claim "has been litigated and rejected repeatedly." The court noted precedent in its ruling: "This Court agrees with the conclusions of the other judges in this District that have considered this question and finds that the records are subject to FOIA."
- The Obama administration argued that Judicial Watch's request is too massive and broad and cannot be processed. Judge Howell was unconvinced. "While the Court is sensitive to the burdens raised by the plaintiff's broad brush request for 'all' records of a certain type over a nine-month period, including the need to review such records for applicable exemptions, the Court is not persuaded that the plaintiff's request requires a blanket rejection."
- The Obama administration argued that Judicial Watch's request would raise Constitutional, "separation of power" issues. Judge Howell ruled, "...The Court is skeptical of the underlying premise that the inclusion of [visitor logs] under FOIA raises any serious Constitutional problems....since the statutory language is unambiguous in relation to this issue, and the FOIA has built-in exemptions that mitigate the risk of the precise separation of powers concerns the defendant raises, the Court rejects defendant's interpretive argument."
- The Obama administration argued that Judicial Watch's request raises national security concerns. The court noted, "At no point does the Secret Service assert, however, that there are not at least some records implicated by plaintiff's FOIA request that could be easily searched for, separated out, and disclosed without raising national security concerns."
Ultimately, Judge Howell concluded that "the proper course of action by the Secret Service is duly to process [Judicial Watch's] FOIA request, disclose all segregable, nonexempt records, and then assert specific FOIA exemptions for all records it seeks to withhold."
In other words, release or explain.
Back in September 2009, the Obama administration made a big deal out of its new policy to release the visitor logs voluntarily. But here's the reality of the situation. The White House insisted that it could release visitor information at its own discretion, the timing and specifics of which was not subject to court review. And despite White House misinformation to the contrary, tens of thousands of visitor logs are being withheld from disclosure by the Obama administration. These records are now subject to disclosure under FOIA.
CORRUPTION CHRONICLES
We've come a long way since our October 27, 2009, meeting at the Obama White House. As you may recall, Judicial Watch staff visited with senior White House officials led by Norm Eisen, then-Special Counsel to the President for Ethics and Government, to discuss Judicial Watch's pursuit of the visitor logs.
During the meeting, White House officials offered to make some accommodations to Judicial Watch on the visitor logs, and encouraged Judicial Watch to publicly praise the Obama administration's commitment to transparency. However, the White House refused to abandon its legally indefensible contention that the visitor logs are not subject to FOIA law. So we went another way. We sued the Obama administration on December 7, 2009, and ultimately earned a landmark court decision affirming the rule of law. Once again, our legal team deserves congratulations for its persistence. This is a tremendous victory.
This decision, by an appointee of the President Obama himself (!), is a refreshing example of a court reminding the Obama administration that it is indeed subject to the rule of law.
Judicial Watch Sues National Labor Relations Board for Documents Concerning Boeing Lawsuit
It probably would not surprise you to learn that the Obama administration is apparently using the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) as a battering ram to aid powerful (and financially supportive) unions. The target is the Boeing Corporation. And Judicial Watch has launched a full investigation into the matter.
On Monday, August 15, we filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the NLRB to obtain records concerning the agency's decision to file its lawsuit against Seattle-based Boeing for opening a $750 million non-union assembly plant in North Charleston, South Carolina to manufacture its Dreamliner plane (Judicial Watch v. National Labor Relations Board (No. 11-1470)).
Now why would the NLRB insert itself into the private business decisions of Boeing? Because powerful unions are up in arms over the fact that Boeing would choose South Carolina, which is a "right to work" state, for its manufacturing plant. (In a "right to work" state, workers cannot be forced to join a union or pay union dues as a condition of employment.)
We want access to the records so that we can see, among other concerns, just how involved the unions and the Obama White House were in this extraordinary assertion of federal government powers.
Specifically, we want access to the internal communications between officials, officers, and employees of the NLRB related to the Boeing Corporation in general and the agency's decision to file its lawsuit. We want records of communication between the NLRB and the Obama White House, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, the AFL-CIO, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and any other third party trade union, among others. And we want any NLRB records related to the impact of the new Boeing plant on employment in South Carolina. (The time frame for these requests is January 20, 2009, to July 14, 2011.)
The response from the Obama administration has been the typical stonewall. By letter of July 28, 2011, the NLRB acknowledged that the agency received Judicial Watch's complaint on July 14, 2011. However, the NLRB has failed to respond within the statutory allotted twenty business days. In fact, to date, the NLRB has failed to produce any documents or indicate when responsive documents will be released.
In addition to refusing to respond to Judicial Watch's FOIA request, the NLRB has also reportedly failed to respond to a subpoena issued by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee seeking information related to the lawsuit. "This refusal by NLRB to abide by the law further heightens concerns that this is a rogue agency acting improperly," Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa said. "The integrity of NLRB and its leadership is clearly in question."
The NLRB, for its part, is saying it filed the lawsuit in April 2011 because Boeing's decision to open the Dreamliner production line in South Carolina was in retaliation against the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for a series of union strikes that reportedly slowed production of the plane in 2008 in Washington State.
Boeing issued a forceful response: The NLRB's "claim is legally frivolous and represents a radical departure from both NLRB and Supreme Court precedent. Boeing has every right under both federal law and its collective bargaining agreement to build additional U.S. production capacity outside of the Puget Sound region."
As I've said a number of times in this space, personnel is policy. And when you consider who's running the NLRB, it is clear why the agency has behaved in this out-of-control manner.
Last year, President Obama bypassed the U.S. Senate and recess-appointed Craig Becker to head the NLRB's five-member board. The Becker appointment was made after the U.S. Senate refused to move forward on his confirmation. An ally of ACORN, Becker had previously worked for the SEIU and the AFL-CIO, major financial backers of Obama and the Democratic Party. Controversially, Becker has refused to recuse himself from certain NLRB decisions affecting his former union clients.
So we have a union hack at the top of the NLRB. Even more reason for absolute transparency. The American people have a right to know the facts surrounding the extraordinary decision by the NLRB to sue Boeing in order to effectively shut down an entire factory in South Carolina. There are serious questions about the NLRB's apparent abuse of power. There is simply no good reason for the NLRB to keep these records secret - unless it has something to hide. Yet again we see that President Obama, through his appointees, is contemptuous of an open and accountable federal government.
South Carolina obviously has an economic interest in putting an end to this ridiculous lawsuit. But the state is not alone in its opposition to this overreaching on the part of the NLRB. According to the South Carolina Attorney General's office, 16 states have now joined a coalition opposing the NLRB lawsuit. The attorneys general from both "right to work" and unionized states have jointly filed an amicus curiae brief in the lawsuit on the side of South Carolina. But in the meantime, we are going to do all we can to shed light on how and why this decision was made.
No More Secrecy in Debt Fight
One of the main components of the legislative "solution" to the debt ceiling "crisis" that occurred a few weeks ago is the formation of a new bipartisan Super Committee that is charged with cutting $1.2 trillion out of the budget over the next ten years by November 23, 2011. (Technically, it's called the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction.)
Well, the Super Committee members have now been selected, and here they are: Senators Pat Toomey (R-PA), Jon Kyl (R-AZ), Rob Portman (R-OH), Patty Murray (D-WA), John Kerry (D-MA), and Max Baucus (D-MT) and Representatives Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Fred Upton (R-MI), Dave Camp (R-MI), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Xavier Becerra (D-CA), and Jim Clyburn (D-SC).
Of course, when you're dealing with these kinds of numbers ($1.2 trillion), lobbyists and special interests immediately come crawling out of the woodwork to do anything they can to avoid being placed on the chopping block. The press is already putting the campaign donors of these committee members under the microscope.
The 12 Super Committee members have received $64.5 million in campaign contributions from political action committees (PACS) and employees over the last decade (numbers courtesy of Maplight). At the top of the list are PACS funded by the legal profession, Wall Street firms (such as Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and JP Morgan Chase), and Democratic/Liberal groups, who contributed $9.6 million to committee members.
(Interestingly, these Democratic/Liberal groups contributed more campaign funds than healthcare interests and professionals. Democrats on the committee received more than double the amount of donations from these special interest groups than their fellow Republican committee members.)
Rep. Xavier Becerra (or, more exactly, his lobbyist cut-outs) is already using his Super Committee membership to began to raise campaign money. As I tweeted at the time:

And it doesn't help that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) appointed Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) to the debt panel. Sen. Murray is the head of the Democratic Senatorial Congressional Committee, the chief campaign fundraising arm for her fellow Senate Democrats. And you can bet the Republican members will see, as if by magic, major dollar increases to their political war chests.
All of this is further reason why transparency in the Super Committee's proceedings is so critical. And thankfully, this is something upon which members of both political parties agree. So a cheer for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who issued a strong statement:
The American people are watching to see if the bipartisan Joint Committee will develop a plan to responsibly reduce the deficit in a balanced way while promoting economic growth and creating jobs.
The work of this Committee will affect all Americans, and its deliberations should be open the press, to the public and webcast.
Any acceptance of the Committee proposal will be dependent on the ability of the American people to fully view its proceedings.
I don't buy the "balance," but I'm buying the transparency.
Meanwhile, six Senate Republicans have written a joint letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) expressing their concern about the tremendous power wielded by the Super Committee and asking for absolute transparency in its proceedings:
[W]e are united in our concern about the authority granted to this committee....We ask you, as two of the appointers of the Committee, to ensure that all meetings and hearings are done in a transparent manner through advanced public notification, public attendance and live television broadcasts....All Americans should have the ability to see how the committee crafts a concrete plan for our fiscal future.
It will be interesting to see how things develop with Republican and Democratic leaders seemingly united on the issue of transparency. Of course, the devil will be in the details and in the follow through. We've been promised transparency before - remember Obama's broken promise on health care reform meetings? - only to see politicians return to their secretive ways.
By the way, it is important to remember, we're not just talking about spending cuts. Despite the grandstanding and backslapping by Republican leaders after the debt ceiling deal was struck, tax increases (called "revenue hikes" when politicians want to avoid the "t" word) are still on the table. As reported by Fox Business Channel: "Gridlock resulting in zero cuts would automatically trigger $1.2 trillion in across-the-board cuts or hikes in revenue, meaning possibly tax increases."
The power of this Super Committee is extraordinary and seemingly at odds with how our nation's Founding Fathers intended Congress to operate. This is all the more reason that the American people should demand absolute transparency. The good news is the manufacture of the buses created jobs-in Canada. It's the company's top of the line VIP model normally used by Rock Bands. Would we expect any less for our own self-proclaimed rock star?

Government Report: Obama Admin Funded Obamacare Internet Propaganda Campaign
In a bombshell accusation, the government watchdog group Judicial Watch announced today that the Obama administration used taxpayer money to help orchestrate an internet search engine manipulation campaign specifically promoting Obamacare. 
Judicial Watch obtained 2,328 pages of records pursuant to a March 23, 2011, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit. The FOIA information included correspondence between the Department of Health and Human Services and the Ogilvy Group, the public relations fire hired by the White House to push Obamacare on the American people.

Judicial Watch earned a victory in court on August 4 in its pursuit of documents related to the Obama administration's Black Panther scandal. (This gets a bit technical, so hang with me.)
In short, a federal court rejected a claim of the "attorney work-product doctrine" by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for documents prepared after the government dismissed its case against the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense on May 15, 2009. (The work-product doctrine shields materials prepared in anticipation of litigation from release. The Obama administration was using it to try to protect documents sought by JW through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and a related lawsuit.)

A former "Teacher of the Year" in Mount Dora, Fla. has been suspended and could lose his job after he voiced his objection to gay marriage on his personal Facebook page.
Jerry Buell, a veteran American history teacher at Mount Dora High School, was removed from his teaching duties this week as school officials in Lake County investigate allegations that what he posted was biased towards homosexuals.
"We took the allegations seriously," said Chris Patton, a communication officer with Lake County Schools. "All teachers are bound by a code of special ethics (and) this is a code ethics violation investigation."

Exxon sues government over lucrative canceled Gulf leases

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp sued the government to reverse a decision by the Department of the Interior to cancel offshore oil and gas leases estimated to yield tens of billions of dollars of oil.
The lawsuit, filed on August 12 in the federal court in Lake Charles, Louisiana, said the decision arbitrarily deprived it of rights under three of five leases for what is called the Julia field. It said this took away Exxon's ability to produce a reservoir believed to hold billions of barrels of oil.
Two other leases have yet to expire. The complaint was reported earlier by The Wall Street Journal.

(Immigration and Customs Enforcement) directs federal agents to use "prosecutorial discretion" with regard to enforcing immigration laws. Clarifying what that means, Morton writes: "When ICE favorably exercises prosecutorial discretion, it essentially decides not to assert the full scope of the enforcement authority available to the agency."
What illegal aliens has Barack Obama exempted from U.S. immigration law?
According to news reports, "federal immigration officials do not have to deport illegal aliens if they are enrolled in any type of education program, if their family members have volunteered for U.S. military service, or if they are pregnant or nursing."
This begs the question, what illegal aliens HASN'T Barack Obama exempted from U.S. immigration law?

The Beijing Brawl
The front page of today's Washington Post is dominated by a picture of two basketball teams engaged in a massive brawl. What makes this scene front page news is that it happened in Beijing, China, in a "friendship match" between the Georgetown Hoyas and the Bayi Military Rockets.
In sports, tempers will flare. Fights will happen. Boys will be boys. But sometimes a game is more than just a game. Periodically, there is symbolism that tells a bigger story.
Consider the historic symbolism of the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Adolf Hitler wanted to use the Olympics to prove the superiority of his "master race," yet Jesse Owens won four gold medals. There was a long war ahead, but that moment undermined everything Hitler believed in.
And who can forget the "Miracle on Ice" -- the U.S. hockey team's tremendous victory over the Soviets during the 1980 Olympics? I remember turning to my wife, Carol, and saying "Jimmy Carter just lost the election!" There was an explosion of pride across the country. Four days later, Ronald Reagan won the New Hampshire primary. And the rest is history.
The basketball game in Beijing is not on the same level with either of those events. But the symbolism was striking nonetheless as the U.S. and China are increasingly in conflict. Moreover, the fight took place in a heavily regulated society. The gym was full of police. And, yet, as water bottles were being thrown at the American players, no one intervened. The communist police allowed the crowd to take out its frustrations on our players. Eventually the American team retreated off the floor to the safety of the locker room and the game was cancelled. China is trying to push the U.S. off the global stage.
With each passing day, as Obama spends more and as we cut our defense budget and grow weaker, China grows stronger. This is a dangerous time for America and the world. Obama is kowtowing to the Chinese. On the right, there is growing isolationism, led by Ron Paul, who suggests that if only America would just leave everyone else alone there would be fewer problems around the world. That's exactly what every thug and dictator is hoping for.
I have missed Ronald Reagan every day since he walked out of the Oval Office for the last time. Days like today, I miss him even more.
Government Gone Wild
There are several stories making headlines today that defy logic and turn common sense on its head. The common theme: Government gone wild.
- In previous reports we told you that the director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency had instructed prosecutors to use wide discretion in deportation cases. In other words -- ignore the law and be lenient. Yesterday the Obama Administration formalized that policy with new rules issued from the Department of Homeland Security essentially halting deportation cases. Democrats and other advocates of illegal immigration cheered the decision.
This action guts our immigration laws and sends the message that the United States is not serious about controlling its borders. And it comes just as news breaks of mass arrests in southern California involving an Iraqi drug-trafficking gang. It is certain to encourage more illegal immigration and should be a major issue in the campaign. - At a town hall event this week, Barack Obama took a question from a concerned farmer who was worried about the impact of new government regulations on dust. (Yes, dust.) Obama dismissed his concerns, saying, "Don't always believe what you hear," and told the farmer to call the Department of Agriculture. A reporter for Politico did just that. Two days and 10 phone calls later to a variety of different agencies, still no answer.
- With a 9.1% unemployment rate many Americans are wondering where all the high-paying "green jobs" are that Obama promised us. After all, billions of dollars in stimulus money was spent to create these jobs. The New York Times went looking for them and, shockingly, concluded that the "green economy" Obama promised was a "pipe dream."
- The Obama Administration announced recently with much fanfare that it was dramatically increasing fuel efficiency standards. With rising gasoline prices, most folks might think that is a good idea. But, as always, there is a price for government mandates. In fact, a new study finds that these higher efficiency mandates will increase the price of a new car by as much as $11,000! Even at today's prices, $11,000 buys you a lot of gas.
How's Your Vacation?
Barack Obama left Washington yesterday for his ten-day vacation on Martha's Vineyard. Today, he'll hit the golf course -- again. Meanwhile, in Atlanta, thousands of people, mostly black, started their day very differently. They lined up for hours waiting for a chance to apply for one of 2,000 available positions at a job fair hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.
Whatever pride many blacks must have felt in the election of Barack Obama back in 2008 must surely be waning today as unemployment and poverty in the black community has skyrocketed during Obama's tenure. It is clear that Obama and the left will attempt to blame the Tea Party movement and Republicans for the bad economy, but it doesn't pass the straight face test. Obama and the Democrats had total control of Congress for two years, and the results speak for themselves.

Obama's EPA is Killing More Jobs than the Economy Can Create

Obama says he will get focused on the jobs problem just as soon as he returns from his August vacation in Martha's Vineyard. Like the more famous Hamptons, the Vineyard is a playground of the rich and famous out to find some summer enjoyment on the Atlantic shore. Just before leaving, Obama articulated his number one goal is to grow the economy.
But while Obama is playing jet-setter, back in Washington a crucial regulatory agency, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has been captured by a group of extremists who actually believe the USA would be better off with a smaller economy.
In some of the economy's most hopeful corners, these bureaucrats are wielding all of the levers of regulatory authority in their arsenal to kill growth. Just as the "green shoots" of recovery sprout, they come along with a can of herbicidal regulations and kill the sprout. As long as Obama leaves these extremists in charge of the agency, the economy is unlikely to recover and will suffer.
Having a reliable national electrical infrastructure is vital to new job creation.

Watch NEW Video: Response to Houston VA Ban on "God" at Funerals
For more than 20 years, VFW District 4 Honor Guard has performed the VFW burial ritual at the Houston National Cemetery. It was written and approved by the VFW National Council of Administration nearly 100 years ago.
The Houston National Cemetery Director has banned prayer and the word "God" from veterans' burials unless specifically requested by a grieving family.
Incredibly, she has also prohibited the VFW or the funeral homes from telling the families about the burial ritual or sharing the text of the ritual with them. It's an outrage!
The Liberty Institute, VFW and other veterans' service organizations have filed suit against the VA on the grounds of religious hostility and unlawful censorship. Your action is urgently needed to get the word out before the next court appearance, Monday, August 22, at 9:00 a.m.

It's probably a good thing that coverage of the Iowa Straw Poll and Rick Perry's announcement of candidacy upstaged the discussion about the televised GOP debate two days before. That two hour encounter highlighted profound problems with the Republican field and increased the widespread yearning for some additional Republican choices. In fact, Rick Perry emerged as the clear winner of the debate because he displayed the good sense not to show up.
The losers? All of the eight candidates who stood on the stage, sniping at each other and looking unserious and unpresidential. The Republican Party lost as well: with Americans increasingly sour on Barack Obama, the Ames debate offered an obvious chance to show that the GOP offered constructive, refreshing, hopeful alternatives.

Why Americans Hate Economics
In university classrooms-and especially the Obama White House-fancy theories of macroeconomics defy basic common sense.

Christina Romer, the University of California at Berkeley economics professor and President Obama's first chief economist, once relayed the old joke that "there are two kinds of students: those who hate economics and those who really hate economics." She doesn't believe that, but it's true. I'm surprised how many students tell me economics is their least favorite subject. Why? Because too often economic theories defy common sense. Alas, the policies of this administration haven't boosted the profession's reputation.
Consider what happened last week when Laura Meckler of this newspaper dared to ask White House Press Secretary Jay Carney how increasing unemployment insurance "creates jobs." She received this slap down: "I would expect a reporter from The Wall Street Journal would know this as part of the entrance exam just to get on the paper."

Don't Dial ACLU-Heavy DOJ for Voter Fraud Protection

If you thought the U.S. Justice Department under Attorney General Eric Holder was already shockingly biased toward far-left causes, get ready for a more permanent problem.
As Hans A. von Spakovsky has outlined in the first of five articles for Pajamas Media about DOJ's Civil Rights Division, Holder has hired 16 civil service employees -- not political appointees -- in the Voting Rights Section. This means they will be part of the permanent bureaucracy.
It's part of an overall trend of loading the Civil Rights Division with card-carrying leftists despite Holder's promise to hire qualified people regardless of ideology.
All of the new hires have radical backgrounds, including several with the ACLU displayed prominently on their resumes. Some specifically oppose measures to curb voter fraud, such as requiring photo I.D.s. Since no conservatives have been hired, Mr. von Spakovsky aptly titled his article "Every Single One: The Politicized Hiring of Eric Holder's Voting Section."

Warren Buffett's Public Disservice On Taxation

Warren Buffet is performing a gross public disservice in creating urban myths about the nature of the tax system in America. Those myths will mislead millions of Americans about the fundamentals of their own country.
Buffett began his media offensive with an op-ed in the New York Times on Sunday, "Stop Coddling the Super Rich," where he complained that taxes need to be raised on "the rich" so they can pay their fair share. He reported that he paid 17.4% of his income in federal taxes, and claimed "If you make money with money, as some of my super-rich friends do, your percentage may be a bit lower than mine. But if you earn money from a job, your percentage will surely exceed mine -- most likely by a lot." That is inaccurate.
Official IRS data shows that for 2007, before President Obama was even elected, the top 1% of income earners paid more in federal income taxes than the bottom 95% combined. That top 1% paid 40.4% of all federal income taxes, almost twice their share of income. When Ronald Reagan entered office, the top 1% paid 17.6% of all federal income taxes. That is why Jack Kemp always used to say if you want to soak the rich, cut tax rates.

The man in the coffee shop had the look of a no-nonsense Westerner. A retired architect, he told me he had lived in the mountains for the past few years and, like most Americans, was appalled at what was going on in Washington.
Cheerfully admitting to being a political liberal, he nonetheless agreed that America's financial woes were caused by government profligacy, not a lack of tax revenue. He acknowledged that the nation's credit rating was downgraded because Congress had not enacted serious spending cuts.
There's plenty of common ground here, I thought. That is, until he shook his head and said, "But I worry about those Tea Party types. The right wing scares me. Some of them are so far out."
I heard similar remarks from others as we traveled the southwest portion of the Rocky Mountain state. Common-sense statements were followed by nervous fears about - the Tea Party.

Obama's Administrative Amnesty: From Rumor to Reality

Last year, we were the first to break the news that the Obama Administration was considering options that would grant an administrative amnesty to illegal aliens living in the United States.
Yesterday, that possibility became a reality when White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Cecilia Munoz announced a change to the Department of Homeland Security's deportation policy. Going forward, DHS will review deportation cases on a case-by-case basis and focus future deportations only on criminal illegal aliens, allowing non-criminal illegal aliens to stay in the country.
Making matters worse, the Wall Street Journal has confirmed that illegal aliens who receive deferred action or parole from deportation can apply for work permits allowing them to compete with 22 million Americans looking for full-time work. That's 300,000 illegal aliens who could potentially receive work permits!
So, while Pres. Obama spent much of the week on a bus tour promoting a future plan to get unemployed Americans back to work, his Administration was working behind the scenes to help illegal aliens become eligible for jobs in the United States!
We've posted a new fax for Pres. Obama on your Action Board criticizing him for his new policy. With millions of Americans looking for work, and 7 million illegal aliens already holding non-agricultural jobs, Pres. Obama needs to find ways to get unemployed Americans back to work, and not find ways to add more competition to the labor market.

In his August 14 column, "The Texas Unmiracle," Nobel-Prize-winning economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman arrives at similar conclusions about immigration and employment as NumbersUSA. First, Krugman acknowledges that immigration, in part, drove Texas job growth (more people = bigger economy) during the recession. Second, Krugman notes that job growth hasn't kept up with population growth in Texas (more jobs, but high unemployment). The left has run out of all other options-- so now they're banking on an alien invasion. First Paul Krugman suggested that if we faked an alien invasion, the government would have the go ahead to spend the crazy amounts of money he wanted it to spend in the first place. Playing Orson Welles and imagining how much we could spend if only the flying saucers landed outside of Princeton. Second, Obama's post-space exploration NASA suggests that if we don't comply with global warming dictates, space aliens will invade and destroy us. This is what NASA has been reduced to. Parroting idiotic Global Warming propaganda. Without the Space Shuttle, we're hitchhiking on the Russian Soyuz while the agency itself has been retasked to promoting the Global Warming fraud and Muslim self-esteem. We no longer have a space agency. Instead we have some bastardized equivalent of the ESA which is trying to intimidate us into biking to work or the aliens will attack.

Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance.
