When "trillions" just don't make sense - here's the simple way to look at it.
"If the US Government was a family, they would be making $58,000 a year, they spend $75,000 a year, & are $327,000 in credit card debt. They are currently proposing BIG spending cuts to reduce their spending to $72,000 a year. These are the actual proportions of the federal budget & debt, reduced to a level that we can understand." - Dave Ramsey

KUHNER: President's socialist takeover must be stoppedBy Jeffrey T. Kuhner | The Washington Times | Thursday, July 22, 2010

President Obama has engaged in numerous high crimes and misdemeanors. The Democratic majority in Congress is in peril as Americans reject his agenda. Yet more must be done: Mr. Obama should be impeached.
He is slowly - piece by painful piece - erecting a socialist dictatorship. We are not there - yet. But he is putting America on that dangerous path. He is undermining our constitutional system of checks and balances; subverting democratic procedures and the rule of law; presiding over a corrupt, gangster regime; and assaulting the very pillars of traditional capitalism. Like Venezuela's leftist strongman, Hugo Chavez, Mr. Obama is bent on imposing a revolution from above - one that is polarizing America along racial, political and ideological lines. Mr. Obama is the most divisive president since Richard Nixon. His policies are Balkanizing the country. It's time for him to go. Read more:

THESE PHOTOS JUST BECAME DECLASSIFIED - FROM 9/11
The anniversary of 9/11 is coming up. We must never forget what happened and who was responsible. The threat is still with us of more destruction to come. Those radical islamist tell us so all the time. We all seem to dismiss it. We must press our Congress to look into all those who may be amongst us now training and getting ready to launch another attack. We must never allow a mosque to built any where near that sacred ground. Please be at the rally on 9/11 as the Mayor has given approval for the mosque to be built.
We the people must rise up and say NO!

Press Release:
AFDI/SIOA 9/11 Freedom Rally:
Stand Against Ground Zero Mosque, and Durban III, Stand for America
NEW YORK, July 6: The human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) will be hosting its second annual 9/11 Freedom Rally on September 11 at 3pm at Park Place and West Broadway.
Free citizens are coming from all over the U.S. to attend the rally. "It is crucial to stand for freedom on this tenth anniversary of the heinous 9/11 jihad attacks," said AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller. "We must show the jihadists we are unbowed in the defense of freedom."
AFDI and its Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) program are encouraging all Americans to stand against the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero and the anti-Semitic Durban III conference that will be held in New York City at the same time, and for American values on the tenth anniversary of the worst attack ever on American soil.
The confirmed list of speakers includes 9/11 family members Alexander and Maureen Santora, who lost their firefighter son Christopher; Sally Regenhard, whose son Christian was killed on 9/11; Nelly Braginsky, who lost her son Alexander; and others.
Other speakers include former U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton (video message); the courageous ex-Muslim human rights activist Wafa Sultan; war hero and North Carolina Congressional candidate Ilario Pantano; former prosecutor and bestselling author Andrew C. McCarthy; popular radio host Joyce Kaufman; Darla Dawald, National Director of the Patriot Action Network; James Lafferty of the Virginia Anti-Sharia Taskforce (VAST); Coptic Christian activist Joseph Nassralla; Iraqi ex-Muslim Paul Gaynos.
Hosting the rally are Pamela Geller, publisher of the acclaimed AtlasShrugs.com blog, executive director of AFDI and SIOA, and author of Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance (WND Books); and AFDI/SIOA associate director Robert Spencer, the bestselling author and director of Jihad Watch.
Building the Ground Zero mosque is not an issue of religious freedom, but of resisting an effort to insult the victims of 9/11 and to establish a beachhead for political Islam and Islamic supremacism in New York. Cordoba Initiative board member imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is an open proponent of Sharia, Islamic law, a system that denies the freedom of speech, the freedom of conscience, and the equality of rights of all people before the law. Given the thousands of triumphal mosques that have been built on the cherished sites of conquered peoples throughout Islamic history, the mosque leaders' claim that this mosque would be understood differently by Muslims worldwide lack foundation.
The Durban III conference follows upon two previous conferences that scapegoated and demonized the state of Israel in service of Islamic jihad and Islamic supremacist interests. The rally will defend Israel against the defamation to which it will be subjected at this conference. It will also call upon the city to remove roadblocks to the reconstruction of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which was destroyed on 9/11 and since then mired in bureaucratic red tape that has prevented its rebuilding - in stark contrast to the help Mayor Bloomberg and other city officials have given to the Ground Zero Mosque project.
AFDI/SIOA is one of America's foremost organizations defending human rights, religious liberty, and the freedom of speech against Islamic supremacist intimidation and attempts to bring elements of Sharia to the United States.

"We have gone to the capitals of our states and to the capitals of our government. We have talked to all the power brokers. The only power broker, the only seat of government that can and will solve this problem with or without us is God. It is time to return inside the walls that surround Jerusalem and stand with people of all faiths, all around the world," Glenn said in his initial announcement.
"In August, whether I'm there with seven people or 10 people or there alone, I will stand. I ask you to join me. I also ask you to take this message globally, to take this to every corner of the earth. If you have family living overseas, this is not an America solution. This is a people of faith solution. This is a people all over the world solution. I ask you to help get this word out."

Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,
One month from today - Thursday, Sept 8 - Philadelphia ZOA will hold its first Tribute Gala in more than a decade and we invite you to be there for this evening to celebrate Israel, express the community's gratitude to two key figures and have an enjoyable evening out.
- We hope you will be there two help us thank two very special men: Dom Giordano, a journalist cut from the cloth of a time when the truth mattered and who thus has become an ardent activist for Israel, and Rabbi Fred Kazan, a man who for generations has encouraged a love for Israel among his congregants and has been outspoken in his devotion to the Jewish State.
- We hope you will attend not only to hear the wisdom and candor of our honorees but also the insights of keynote speaker Jonathan Tobin and ZOA National President Mort Klein, and the enjoyable and thoughtful running commentary of Gary Erlbaum, our master-of-ceremonies.
- We hope you will attend to support the work of Philadelphia ZOA. Frankly there is no group in our area that matches our dedication to a secure and vibrant Jewish State of Israel and that has the level of activities that we do. As we face the present threats to Israel and look to prepare for the future, we need to do more now and increase our outreach to the younger Jewish community and potential allies, and such ambitions take resources.
- Finally, we hope you will attend to partake in an evening of stirring and heartfelt speeches, good kosher food and dessert, and warm Zionist camaraderie all for a good cause.
The event will take place at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue, 4200 City Avenue, Philadelphia. The VIP reception will include a glatt-kosher buffet and open bar and begins at 6 p.m. The award ceremony takes place at 7:45 and will be followed by a dessert reception.
We have set up a special ticket hotline you can reach by calling 215-333-1729. You must have a ticket to attend and we do expect a sellout. Please spread the word about this event to your email lists, friends, colleagues and family. Post it to Facebook and other social-networking sites.
We look forward to seeing you on September 8.

Patriots,
The Pa legislature is going to have its first hearing ever on a Right to Work package of legislation (House Bills 50-53). It will be held on Tuesday, August 16 from 1-4 p.m. in room 205 of the Ryan Office Building. There is no doubt that the unions will be out in force to try to intimidate members of the Labor committee. If you can get out to the hearing that would be great, please let as many people know about it as possible so members know that the grassroots support Right to Work.
|
Some of us would like to sit in on this hearing because - ·Warren Kampf serves on the House Labor Cmte and ·our presence might counter the expected labor union presence! Sean Dempsey, Warren's district office manager, listed the individual bills: HB 50 - Establishes a Right to Work law. HB 51 - Establishes that Union Dues can not be automatically deducted from payroll HB 52 - very similar to HB 51 in spirit HB 53 - very similar again to HB 51 He said that "Generally Warren is for leveling the playing field for job creators and that is what these bills aim to do". He cautioned this is a hearing and no vote is expected. I think PA needs to be a RIGHT TO WORK state! www.nrtw.org Warren's serving on this Labor & Industry Cmte adds another reason to attend.

We've already had one Islamo-pandering Texas Republican Governor as President. We don't need another, in Texas Governor Rick Perry. The first version of him, Gov. George W. Bush, beat Al Gore in getting the Islamic endorsement, then squandered the next eight years in the White House giving Muslims special treatment and increasing their immigration numbers to America.
And so it's in that vein that I can't understand the fascination by some normally good people with Rick Perry. My friend, Michael Reagan-who normally gets it on the Islamic threat-endorsed Perry for President. And, when he announces his candidacy for the White House, thousands of Christians who get the Islamic threat to America will support his bid. That's despite the fact that Perry is close with open Islamic terrorism supporter, Palestinian extremist Farouk Shami, who bragged that his father killed many innocent Jews in Israel. And it's despite the fact that the HAMAS financier and unindicated HAMAS co-conspirator in Islamic terrorism, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Action Network is having allahgasms over Perry. If they support him, it's a good reason to oppose this Republi-dhimmi.

Pick a fight with a liberal on:
EQUALITY. Tell that them that, like all meritocrats, you're fine with people making the most of their opportunities, but you're adamantly opposed to "equality of outcome," and you know that "equality of opportunity" has become a liberal bait and switch justifying all sorts of affirmative action-type schemes. Equality under the law is good, equality under the eyes of God is a fact, but any other artificial imposition of "equality" is another word for tyranny. Such egalitarianism was tried and failed miserably and bloodily in Stalin's Soviet Union and Mao's China, so why is Obama so keen to introduce it here?
Tutor a liberal's kids in the ways of conservative righteousness-Lesson 3.
Make them watch The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Afterwards, over burgers and fries, invite them to identify the modern parallels. They're probably too young to appreciate-as National Review Online correctly identified in its Best Conservative Movies series-that Wormtongue was clearly modeled on Keith Olbermann. But with a bit of prodding they should recognize the Orcs versus the Shire confrontation as the Clash of Civilizations between militant Islam and the West. Or, alternatively, between the evil Obama administration and the forces of conservative decency, wisdom, and justice.

Susan's Paul Ryan Medicare Pamphlet - please print this and give it to your contacts
SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points
It is important that we
Plan now for changes, to avoid chaos later
The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.
Pretending we can continue as we are is not an option, it is a recipe for disaster. The longer we wait to make changes, the greater the disruption to current and future retires, the more abruptly the changes will have to be implemented, and the fewer options we will have.
By implementing the Ryan Plan now, we will
- maintain the existing system for current retirees and for individuals 55 and over
- provide a sustainable, quality system for future retirees.
It is important that we...
Preserve the existing system, unchanged, for current retirees and workers 55 and older
This bears repeating:
- Under the Ryan Plan, if you are retired, your Medicare coverage will not change.
- If you are over 55, Medicare as it exists today will be there for you when you retire.
- And the Ryan Plan provides for quality health insurance coverage upon retirement for those currently under 55.
It is important that we...
Maintain availability of insurance coverage for future retirees
Since individuals generally require more medical care as they age, it tends to be difficult for older individuals to find private health insurance that will cover them. That is one reason our existing Medicare system is considered so important for many. The Ryan Plan creates risk pools which encourage multiple insurance companies to offer health coverage to those of retirement age.
It is important that we...
Maintain affordability
Individuals have paid into the Medicare system with the promise that coverage will be there for them when they retire. Unfortunately, we are facing an economic crisis in this country and Medicare is a significant part of the problem. To save the system for everyone and to avert broader economic calamity, in the future wealthier Americans will have to bear a greater portion of their healthcare burden.
It is important that we...
Make it feasible for doctors to participate in Medicare
Currently in many areas of the country physicans are reimbursed for Medicare patients at a rate that does not cover their expenses. Recent changes put forth by the Democrats further reduce reimbursement. [cite] This is not sustainable for any business and as a result increasing numbers of physicians are discontinuing their participation in the Medcare program. Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. [cite]. The Ryan plan fixes the reimbursement problem, making it feasible for physicians to continue participating in Medicare.
It is important that we...
Keep medical decisions between patients and doctors, not remote government panels
The Ryan plan harnesses the free market and puts choice in the hands of the patient. Retirees will be able to pick the insurance plan that best meets their needs, applying government vouchers toward premium costs. Medical decisions would be made in consultation with their personal physician, based on the individual's situation and preferences.

Remember TiZA? Charter school files for bankruptcy
In early 2008, in one of the first grassroots activism efforts launched by ACT! for America, we helped bring nationwide exposure to a taxpayer-funded charter school that was clearly engaging in unlawful Islamic proselytizing in the school. ACT! for America members contacted the Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota elected officials, even the ACLU, demanding action. Guy Rodgers, ACT! for America Executive Director, talked to a top official at the Minnesota Department of Education, who assured him they would investigate-and they did. Their investigation resulted in two citations against the school. In 2009 the ACLU did get involved, filing suit against the school alleging improper promotion of religion in a taxpayer-funded facility. So much for those claiming this was a right-wing vendetta against the school. The report below provides the latest on this issue-TiZA has filed for bankruptcy. The lesson here? Grassroots activism works.

TiZA school's future falls to bankruptcy court By Mila Koumpilova Updated: 07/25/2011 11:23:31 PM CDT Weeks after it ceased to exist in the eyes of the state, a metro-area charter school is making a case for its survival in bankruptcy court. The Inver Grove Heights-based Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy filed for bankruptcy June 30, a day before it found itself lacking the state-approved overseer it needs to continue operation. The school since has asked the bankruptcy judge for permission to continue paying employees' salaries and benefits, stressing the value of saving its successful academic program. Meanwhile, the American Civil Liberties Union asked the court to allow its 2-year-old federal lawsuit against the academy to move toward a resolution. The ACLU accused TiZA of promoting religion. The school has denied those charges, arguing it merely accommodated its primarily Muslim students. These developments leave TiZA attorneys with a delicate balance to strike: They are championing the school's survival as they argue that its likely demise makes the ACLU lawsuit moot. "How can TiZA adjust its religious accommodation policies if it doesn't exist anymore?" asked Shamus O'Meara, the school's lead counsel. "It's pretty nonsensical to try to push those claims forward." At the start of this month, TiZA's overseer - the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit Islamic Relief USA - became ineligible to continue its role because of a new charter school law that bans out-of-state overseers. Islamic Relief and the state were co-defendants in the ACLU lawsuit before settling out of court. The state Education Department turned down an application by Twin Cities nonprofit Novation to take over as TiZA's overseer. TiZA filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which allows an organization to restructure and continue to exist. In court filings, the academy touts the high test scores and other achievements of its overwhelmingly low-income minority students. "The continued operation of TiZA saves a successful program for the development of students," records say. And to continue to operate, the school said, it needs to hang onto its staff of about 60. The school, which lists a monthly payroll of about $143,000, is asking the judge to allow it to continue paying its teachers and other employees over the summer. An attorney for U.S. Trustee Habbo Fokkena argued against granting that request. The ability of the school to reopen in the fall is "clearly in dispute," wrote the attorney, Michael Fadlovich. He especially objects to a severance clause in employment offers made in the weeks and months before the school filed for bankruptcy: If the school is forced to close, the offers said, employees would receive four months' salary - a liability of about $438,500 by his estimate. Mark Kalla, TiZA's bankruptcy attorney, did not return a call seeking comment. TiZA's Executive Director Asad Zaman said the school hasn't worked out a survival plan. Its leaders and legal team still are weighing a court appeal of the Education Department's rejection of Novation's application. Zaman said he does not plan to re-invent TiZA as a private school, which would require lining up significant private resources. O'Meara, the school's counsel, is more pessimistic. He said many TiZA employees scattered over the summer, and many students have requested their academic records so they can transfer to other schools. "The reality is there isn't anyone to fill that school any more," O'Meara said. Meanwhile, the ACLU, the state and Islamic Relief have asked the bankruptcy court to lift a freeze on all legal actions that went into effect automatically when TiZA filed for bankruptcy. For one thing, the state and Islamic Relief want to pursue repayment of more than $1.7 million in legal expenses that the federal court ruled TiZA should cover. The ACLU is seeking closure in the long-running case, which still is scheduled for trial in November. Peter Lancaster, lead counsel for the ACLU, said the trial is unlikely with TiZA closed. Lancaster said the ACLU realizes it might not be able to get TiZA to repay millions in state aid or cover the group's own legal fees even as he questioned why TiZA had not yet filed information on its assets. But Lancaster said the ACLU still hopes the court will approve the ACLU's settlement with the state and thus unseal records marked confidential during the lawsuit's investigative phase. "The single most important thing we still hope to accomplish is the release of that information to the public," Lancaster said. Lancaster and his team have argued the documents release would be "highly useful" to the bankruptcy court as well, throwing light on TiZA's financial dealings. TiZA and its attorneys have called the issue of the settlement documents a misleading publicity stunt by the ACLU. Judge Robert Kressel, who presided over the bankruptcy case of former auto mogul Denny Hecker, will rule on the various motions in coming weeks. |

It's fascinating to see not only the Middle East going backward but Western analysts and officials cheering on a return to even more war and terrorism. A good example is "In Tumult, New Hope for Palestinian Cause" by Anthony Shadid and David D. Kirkpatrick in the New York Times.
Let's take one paragraph and see what it tells us:
In all the tumult of the Arab revolts, one of the most striking manifestations of change is a rejuvenated embrace of the Palestinian cause. The burst in activism in Egypt, Lebanon and even Tunisia has offered a rebuttal to an old bromide of Arab politics, that authoritarian leaders cynically inflamed sentiments over Israel and Palestine to divert attention from their own shortcomings. But the embrace of the issue also helped confirm its status as a barometer of justice and freedom for many Arabs and Muslims. And now, the demands of an empowered public raise the possibility of a...

So now the chickens have well and truly come home terrifyingly to roost. The violent anarchy that has taken hold of British cities is the all-too-predictable outcome of a three-decade liberal experiment which tore up virtually every basic social value.

The married two-parent family, educational meritocracy, punishment of criminals, national identity, enforcement of the drugs laws and many more fundamental conventions were all smashed by a liberal intelligentsia hell-bent on a revolutionary transformation of society. Those of us who warned over the years that they were playing with fire were sneered at and smeared as Right-wing nutters who wanted to turn the clock back to some mythical golden age.
The riots have been fuelled by moral collapse says Melanie Phillips
Now we can see what they have brought about in the unprecedented and horrific scenes of mob violence, with homes and businesses going up in flames, and...

Jeremy Ben-Ami, founder and president of J Street, has written a highly misleading book titled "A New Voice for Israel" portraying himself as a passionate supporter of Israel and a dedicated Zionist and extolling the virtues of his purportedly "pro Israel pro-peace" organization
The opening section is sourced from the autobiography of his father Yitzhak Ben-Ami, whose antecedents settled in Palestine.
Yitzchak became a devoted follower of Zev Jabotinsky and was sent to the United States on behalf of the underground Irgun Zvai Leumi, initially to recruit volunteers for a Jewish army and then to support the campaign by the Peter Bergson group to alert Americans to the plight of the European Jewry. The civilizational war that Jean Raspail once envisioned in his brilliant, dystopian novel The Camp of the Saints is now fully underway. What Raspail once only imagined has come to pass. People of color from many formerly colonized countries have created "no go" zones all across Europe; ambulances and the police enter there at their own risk.
The "youth," the opportunistic criminal elements, the proto-jihadists (all of whom survive on the European dole), are torching cars, looting stores, battling the police. Even as I write, black Brits are killing Muslim Brits and rioting against the police. Muslim Brits are threatening to kill whatever and whoever.
Have Europeans traditionally been racists? Yes, of course they have. Remember the Holocaust against the Jews. They learned no lessons.
More recently, did European governments allow immigrants to stay because they were willing to do work Europeans refused to do? Yes they did.
Are Europe's...

Here Is a Real Star. In case you don't know it, this is the person that is referred to as "The Fat Lady" in the trite verbalization of "It's not over till the fat lady sings".
Kate Smith was born and grew up in Columbia, Missouri . In early 1940, Kate Smith, a fiercely patriotic American, and the biggest star on radio, was deeply worried about her country.
She asked Irving Berlin if he could give her a song that would re-ignite the spirit of American patriotism and faith. He said he had a song that he had written in 1917, but never used it.
He said she could have it. She sat at the piano & played it and realized how good it was. She called Mr. Berlin and told him that she couldn't take this from him for nothing.
So, they agreed that any money that would be made off the song would be...

Warning to GOPers and their presidential aspirants: There are more than two foreign policy options
By Caroline B. Glick, WJR
It would be a real tragedy if at the end of the primary season, due to neoconservative intellectual bullying the Republican nominee was forced to choose between neoconservativism and isolationism
Over the past several months, a certain intolerance has crept into the rhetoric of leading neoconservative publications and writers. This intolerance has become particularly noticeable since February's neoconservative-supported overthrow of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, and US President Barack Obama's neoconservative-supported decision to commit US forces to battle against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in March. The basic concept being propounded by leading neoconservative writers and publications is that anyone who disagrees with neoconservative policies is an isolationist. A notable recent example of this tendency was a blog post published...

Abraham Foxman and NJDC tell us not to worry about creeping Sharia by Bill Levinson
ADL's Foxman Calls for an End to "Pernicious" anti-Sharia "Conspiracy Theories" from the National Jewish Democratic Council links to Shout down the Sharia myth makers by Abraham Foxman. First, a little history:
(1) Foxman and NJDC both whitewashed anti-Semitic hate speech from MoveOn.org. (2) Foxman legitimized the vicious racist and anti-Semite Al Sharpton by issuing a joint statement with him. (3) Foxman attacked a Congressional resolution to recognize the genocide of Armenians in 1915, and fired an ADL director (Tarsy) for having the integrity to go against him. Two other ADL directors resigned in disgust. (4) Now for the latest...

Jonathan S. Tobin, Commentary/Contentions
The Obama administration renewed its attack on Jewish Jerusalem today by formally condemning the construction of apartments in part of the city. The approval last week of a housing project in the Har Homa neighborhood of the city was blasted by the State Department as being contrary to the peace process and an impediment to the renewal of negotiations with the Palestinians.
But like previous statements from the administration, the complaint about apartments in Har Homa has little to do with the moribund peace process and everything to do with an Obama policy decision to treat the hundreds of thousands of existing Jews living in parts of Israel's capital as being no different from the most remote hilltop settlements in the West Bank. Despite the rhetoric from Washington, Har Homa isn't up for grabs in a theoretical peace deal, and housing there won't stop a two-state solution if the Palestinians ever decide they want one. What it is an...

ISLAM (as practiced in at least some parts of the world) = I Sodomize Little Androgynous Males by Bill Levinson
We have already discussed the use of female peace activists, including possibly Rachel Corrie, as "comfort women" by Palestinian activists. Much of the Islamic world is into, and we mean "into" literally, comfort boys as well. Per Western Complicity in the Rape of Boys in the Islamic World.
We have known about the rape of boys in Afghanistan (north, south, east) for a long time - "Afghanistan must do more to end an age-old practice of young boys being kept as sex slaves by wealthy and powerful patrons," claimed the U.N. special representative for children and armed conflict, Radhika Coomaraswamy. She went on to note that the practice, called "bacha bazi" - literally "boy play" - is the secret everyone knows with comments that it's been around for 1000 years so why do we want to raise it now..... The economy is in the doldrums. The Republican field is still open. Obama is milking the death of the SEALS for everything he can, and it's another bright and sunny day in Malaisetown.
The last of the magic is gone. If liberals hoped for a savior, what they got was a celebrity with a law degree and an outsized ego, who excels at looking out for his own interests, but can't even meet the most minimal standards of competence.
There are striking similarities between the administrations of Obama and Schwarzenegger. Egotists who rose to power on their celebrity clout, rammed through their agenda, when that agenda was countered fell back on a torrent of personal appearances, and then finally dissolved into a puddle on the floor.

JINSA Reports August 12, 2011 Political betting in Washington is that President Obama is preparing to demand that Syrian strongman Bashar Assad step down. After the Saudis, Kuwaitis, Bahrainis and Omanis - those bastions of human rights and civil liberties - withdrew their ambassadors from Damascus. After five months of brutal repression of the Syrian people; tanks and artillery used in cities; refugees cut off from refuge over the border in Turkey; more than 2,000 deaths, including women and children and including victims tortured; and more than 10,000 arrests, including more than 1,000 people who have disappeared, President Obama seems prepared to accept that Assad is not the "reformer" he was supposed to be. And he appears to be ready to demand that Junior quit.
But will Assad leave and under what circumstances? The "Arab Spring" has given us a series of models for Arab leaders who have come to the end of their ability to rape, torture,... Read the whole entry »

FBI wants businesses watching for customers paying with cash
Government calls buying 'night flashlights,' making 'extreme religious statements' indicators of terrorismPosted: August 12, 2011 11:00 pm Eastern
By Bob Unruh © 2011 WND
Just days after the White House announced a community-based approach to combating terrorism in the United States, the FBI and other agencies are asking managers of surplus stores to spy on their customers, watching whether they pay in cash, make "extreme" religious statements or purchase products such as waterproof matches.
And the request from the government also is going to gun shops, fertilizer suppliers, motels and hotels, authorities say.
Earlier this month, the Obama administration announced a new plan titled "Empowering local partners to prevent violent extremism in the United States." In it, Obama wrote, "Communities - especially Muslim American communities whose children, families and neighbors are being targeted for recruitment by al-Qaida - are often best positioned to take the lead because they know their communities best." Quran? Torah? Churches 'will have to choose'
Congregations on six continents taking part in 'greatest commandment'Posted: August 12, 2011 10:55 pm Eastern

It barely qualifies as news in the U.S. when Islam and Islamic causes get prominent support from outside the Muslim community. At this week's White House dinner celebrating the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, President Obama used the occasion to reiterate his endorsement of a proposed mosque at Ground Zero, site of the 9/11 attacks in Lower Manhattan.
And just weeks ago, in a "Shared Faith" project, 66 U.S. churches in 32 states read from the Muslim Quran during Sunday services.
But a grassroots Christian movement is going in another direction. This weekend churches on six continents will join Jewish congregations reading certain passages from the Torah. The "Shema heard around the world," which will consist of reading the "greatest commandment" found in Deuteronomy 6:4-9, is being organized by El Shaddai Ministries of Tacoma, Wash. Read more: Quran? THE PRESIDENT: Thank you. Thank you so much. (Applause.) Everyone, please have a seat, have a seat. Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the White House. Tonight is part of a rich tradition here at the White House of celebrating the holy days of many faiths and the diversity that define us as a nation. So these are quintessentially American celebrations - people of different faiths coming together, with humility before our maker, to reaffirm our obligations to one another, because no matter who we are, or how we pray, we're all children of a loving God. ... To the millions of Muslim Americans across the United States and more - the more than.... ...one billion Muslims around the world, Ramadan is a time of reflection and a time of devotion. It's an occasion to join with family and friends in celebration of a faith known for its diversity and a commitment to justice and the dignity of all human beings. So to you and your families, Ramadan Kareem.

Obama at White House Ramadan dinner: "these are quintessentially American celebrations" My question: What was Obama doing for Easter? What you might note is that the only time Obama seems to speak highly of America is when he is speaking to and referring to Muslims in America. Why he chose to this Ramadan (month of jihad) dinner to preempt 9/11 by focusing on Muslims as victims is not clear. What is clear is that not once did Obama mention that those who perpetrated the horrific, intentional, mass killing of Americans on 9/11 were Muslims - who also celebrated Ramadan and were acting on behalf of the Muslim world. Be sure he won't dare mention that if he addresses Americans on 9/11. Also, check out the event's guest list...sure looks like an All-American event...NOT!!! Why Obama Doesn't Think Much of Easter
Tuesday, 26 Apr 2011
By L.D. Breen
The media and the blogosphere are abuzz with dumbfounded reactions to the White House's snub of Christians during the weekend. No presidential proclamation celebrating Christianity's highest holy day of Easter was issued, compounded by the White House chief spokesman's scoffing response to reporters' questions about the omission. | President Barack Obama welcomes the Easter Bunny to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. As Fox News noted on Monday, "By comparison, the White House has released statements recognizing the observance of major Muslim holidays and released statements in 2010 on Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Hajj, and Eid-ul-Adha." On top of neglecting Easter, the president "also failed to release a statement marking Good Friday." The White House did, however, "release an eight-paragraph statement heralding Earth Day," which fell on Good Friday.

In online forums, Islamic militants urge rioters in Britain to topple government
CAIRO - Militant online forums are abuzz with calls to Muslims in Britain to launch Internet campaigns in support of the British rioters and to urge them to topple the government.
Dozens of contributors on Wednesday suggested Muslims in Britain should flood social media websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, with slogans and writings inciting the British youth to continue rioting.
One contributor says the rioters should adopt slogans similar to those used by Arab protesters during the uprisings in the Middle East this year.
"The people want the killer of Mark Duggan punished" is suggested - a reference to the British man whose death sparked the riots.
Another contributor says an Internet media attack is very important and that "chaos is useful to militants in London."

Ron Paul: Let Iran Have the Bomb
Thursday, 11 Aug 2011

Iran should be allowed to have a nuclear bomb, Republican candidate Ron Paul suggested during Thursday's presidential debate.
The maverick Texas Congressman also said it was time to stop the half-century old embargo on Cuba and all troops should be brought home.
His comments brought scorn from rival candidates. Michele Bachmann said she would do everything in her power to prevent Iran becoming nuclear.
Rick Santorum said "Iran is not Iceland, Ron. "It's been at war with us since 1979.

Obama's seditious Ramadan dinner is the consummate achievement of the stealth jihad. Allahu FUBAR!
First, I blogged that Obama honored the sacrifices that Muslim Americans made on 911 and "the sacrifices that Muslim Americans have made for the country," while not pointing out their true contribution to America.
If that wasn't subversive enough, we discover that the Obama White House is covering up the Muslim Brotherhood proxies and stealth jihadists at the Ramadan celebration bombathon.
Why are they hiding? Because they know. And they know that we know.

Morning Bell: President Obama Sticks to Stimulus Script
In the 1993 comedy Dave, a small-town presidential impersonator is called on to pretend to be the actual President of the United States when the commander in chief takes ill. Dave steps into the White House, takes his new role too far, and with wide-eyed innocence promises America, "I'm initiating a program to try to find a decent job for every American who wants one." Yesterday in Holland, Michigan, President Barack Obama made a strikingly similar pledge:
Over the coming weeks, I'm going to be putting out more proposals, week by week, that will help businesses hire and put people back to work. And I'm going to keep at it until every single American who wants a job can find one.
It's anyone's guess if President Obama was taking a page from Dave's playbook, hoping that the magic of Hollywood or the power of a populist message would resonate with Americans, helping to turn around his plummeting poll numbers. But a few things were clear in the President's speech: Despite all evidence to the contrary, he is still clinging to the notion that the federal government can create jobs, he remains utterly disconnected from the reality that the American people are fundamentally dissatisfied with the direction he is taking the country, and he is doggedly sticking to his favorite script-the story of more federal spending coming to America's rescue. Future Newsweek Covers
Newsweek Magazine sold for less than the face value of a single issue and it was still too expensive at the price. Now it's using the same marketing strategy as crazy people who ask for change on the street and Michael Moore. Offensive photoshopped covers. Five years ago if you told someone that Newsweek would be desperately trying to sell copies with photoshopped smear covers of Republican candidates, he wouldn't believe it. If you told someone about it five years from now, he wouldn't remember what Newsweek is anymore. But for now it's not hard to imagine where Newsweek is heading next. And to save its editors the trouble of figuring out which Republican presidential candidate they want to feature with vampire fangs, here are the future Newsweek covers. Newsweek political analyst Meghan McCain travels to Iowa, to file a story via her Twitter account for the most 140 characters that absolutely no one except spambots will read. Santorum: Blood-Sucking Fiend by Meghan McCain
"I hate Rick Santorum so much!!! He makes the Republican party seem like a bunch of stuffy old guys who hate gays which is totally not true! My dad is very pro-gay and he said that he even hopes I get married to one." Newsweek editors want to assure us that they're not actually claiming that Rick Santorum puts on a cape and drinks human blood after midnight. What they're trying to do is open a dialogue and discussion on whether Rick Santorum is actually the great-great-grandson of Dracula. And drive traffic to the Daily Beast site. Herman Cain. He's really black isn't he? Daily Beast and Newsweek editor Tina Brown goes for lunch with her friends and discusses with them whether Cain is too black to be president. Their consensus: Americans have no manners, New York used to be more interesting in the eighties and they're too drunk to drive home.

"We should all pay them a visit at their house and let them know we are always [there]," one striking union militant wrote on Facebook this week.
Communications Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union bosses have ordered tens of thousands of Verizon employees to abandon their jobs and report to a union picket line.
The early reports of rampant intimidation and militancy are disturbing but sadly unsurprising.
Verizon already reports over 70 acts of sabotage and damage to phone and Internet lines -- exposing customers to the possibility that they will be unable to call for help or reach family during an emergency.
One union militant ordered his young daughter to stand in front a Verizon truck while he verbally berated the independent technicians. Check out the video -- with explicit language -- by clicking here.
And on Facebook, union strikers compiled a so-called "scab" list -- that disgusting name union thugs use to demean, harass, and even threaten workers who defy union-boss orders and continue working to provide for their families.
That Facebook page has since been deleted, but not until union militants broadcast the names and phone numbers of independent-minded workers for all to see, along with menacing messages like the one above.
But with more days, weeks, or even months of striking ahead, I'm afraid we may have only seen the tip of the iceberg.
That's why your continued support of the National Right to Work organizations is so crucial.
The Committee's sister organization, the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, has issued special legal notices to CWA and IBEW union members to inform them of their right to resign from the union and return to work.
Foundation attorneys have provided free legal aid to victims of union violence, illegal strike fines, and other forms of strike-related union-boss intimidation.
Meanwhile, one of the Committee's top legislative priorities is to force Congress to eliminate one of Big Labor's most appalling special privileges.
The fact is, for decades union bosses and their underlings have committed thousands of reported incidents of violence, extortion, vandalism and even murder.
And in most of these cases these vicious acts of violence and intimidation have not even been investigated, much less prosecuted and punished.
Ever since the Supreme Court's infamous 1973 Enmons decision, union bosses have been granted immunity from federal prosecution for acts of violence and vandalism they orchestrate in the so-called "pursuit of legitimate union objectives."
This outrageous loophole in federal law has effectively tied the hands of federal law enforcement officers and has permitted union bosses and their handpicked "enforcers" to pursue their union goals - in any way they see fit.
Passage of the Freedom from Union Violence Act would close the loophole in federal law and finally allow authorities to prosecute union officials for inciting violence.
If you haven't already, please sign the petition urging your U.S. Congressman and Senators to cosponsor the Freedom from Union Violence Act.
And if you possibly can, please chip in with a contribution of $10 or more today to help fund the Committee's programs.
We're seeing once again this week just how dangerous union militancy can be.
Ugly union strikes affect Americans from all walks of life.
Unfortunately, federal labor law encourages forced unionism -- and the union violence loophole encourage union militancy during strikes.
Thank you once again for helping us fight back.
Sincerely,
Mark Mix
P.S. The National Right to Work Committee relies on your voluntary support. Please consider chipping in with a contribution of $10 or more today.

Friday, August 12, 2011 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer BREAKING NEWS: This afternoon, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, Georgia, declared ObamaCare's individual mandate unconstitutional. The majority wrote that the mandate was "a wholly novel and potentially unbounded assertion of congressional authority: the ability to compel Americans to purchase an expensive ... product they have elected not to buy, and to make them re-purchase that ... product every month for their entire lives." Several weeks ago, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the constitutionality of the individual mandate. These cases are headed to the Supreme Court, which may weigh in before next year's election. It is not at all clear how the narrowly divided court will rule. The voters will have the final say. If conservatives retake the United States Senate and send Barack Obama back to Chicago in November 2012, then ObamaCare can be repealed and relegated to the ash heap of history. Debate Roundup Last night's GOP debate in Ames, Iowa, was certainly more contentious, with more rhetorical elbows, than the previous candidate encounters. Consider these headlines: "Iowa Debate Turns Minnesota Nasty," "Bachmann And Pawlenty Duke It Out." The candidates were generally respectful and they saved their most barbed attacks for Obama, while engaging with one another. Some of the questions seemed odd. Newt Gingrich was clearly agitated by the "gotcha questions." Some commentators expressed the view that the Fox News and other right-leaning moderators felt pressured to ask tough questions of the GOP candidates. Some suggested it was a good vetting process that forced them to confront obvious negatives that will come up later in the campaign. Fair enough. If the left and Obama's Chicago machine know how to do anything it is to slice and dice political opponents. But one series of exchanges really caught my attention. Reasonable people can believe that after ten years it is time for a responsible draw down of troops from Afghanistan. But the foreign policy views expressed by Ron Paul put him well outside of the Republican mainstream and, I believe, even the general population. Amazingly, Paul went to great lengths last night to portray Iran as a victim of American bullying. Hats off to former Senator Rick Santorum for taking him on and pointing out that Iran is actively fighting us, killing U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan right now. That no one else was willing to speak up and defend the nation they seek to lead against Paul's slander was disappointing. From strictly a matter of score-keeping, many commentators believe former Speaker Newt Gingrich won the debate in terms of rhetorical points. His line about the deficit super committee being a dumb idea that would force us to choose between getting shot in the head or having a leg cut off was a home run. On the other hand, Mitt Romney entered the debate as the front-runner and left the debate without taking a serious blow. Others suggest that last night's winner wasn't even there. With no one really standing out, a vacuum remains for someone like Rick Perry to fill. I will close with this point. A lot of ink has been spilled in column after column this year about how disappointed conservatives have been with the field of candidates. Perhaps some of you still harbor this view. Let me remind you that the field is likely to get bigger very soon. But most importantly, it was clear to me last night that virtually every candidate on that stage would provide better leadership than what we have right now. They all know that Big Government is the problem, not the solution. The media may be convinced that Barack Obama is the smartest man to ever occupy the Oval Office. But the results for the past two and a half years strongly suggest otherwise. In that time, hope has given way to fear. Consumer confidence is now at its lowest level since the "malaise days" of Jimmy Carter. Obama has had his chance. It's time for a change. Can Washington Learn From The Post Office? I realize that may seem like an odd headline, but stay with me. The Post Office desperately wants to modernize. Internal reorganization memos obtained by the Washington Post paint a bleak picture. "The Postal Service is facing dire economic challenges that threaten its very existence." The same could be said of the entire country. In view of its financial imbalance, the Post Office has realized that it needs to -- GASP! -- downsize. In the past four years, this bloated bureaucracy has lost $20 billion. It now wants to close 3,700 post offices and hundreds of mail processing facilities. It wants to reform its pension and healthcare benefits. And it needs to cut 120,000 workers. But it can't. Why not? Because of Big Labor and collective bargaining rights. The Postal Service is now begging Congress to step in. In its conclusion, the memo states:
"If the Postal Service was a private sector business, it would have filed for bankruptcy and utilized the reorganization process to restructure its labor agreements to reflect the new financial reality. Because this option is not available to the Postal Service, we believe that this extraordinary request is a key to securing our future..."
One of the biggest problems confronting the Postal Service is technology. Mail volume is down as more people use e-mail and pay bills online. Big Government bureaucracies do not adapt well. They generally stifle innovation and resist change. Liberals will argue that the Post Office is fine -- it just has a little revenue problem and should raise rates. (Maybe Obama will give it another bailout.) But raising rates will only drive more people away, resulting in less revenue, just like raising taxes also changes personal behavior. The Post Office's predicament is an example of what is confronting the country -- the need to cut spending and reform entitlements. And like Governor Walker in Wisconsin and other governors across the country, Democrats and Republicans alike, the Post Office sees reining in Big Labor as a key to future economic success.

Betsy McCaughey: Court Ruling 'Slams the Brakes' on Obamacare
Friday, 12 Aug 2011
By David A. Patten
Opponents of Obamacare rejoiced Friday after a federal appeals court in Atlanta ruled the individual mandate at the heart of President Barack Obama's healthcare reform legislation is unconstitutional. The 2-to-1 verdict in the 11th Circuit court in Atlanta sets up a dramatic, seemingly inevitable election-year showdown in the U.S. Supreme Court over the legality of President Obama's signature legislative initiative. Former New York lieutenant governor and healthcare expert Betsy McCaughey said the ruling effectively puts the brakes on cash-strapped states' implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The evidence continues to mount that President Barack Obama's re-election bid is in trouble. The latest news: a Quinnipiac University poll showing that 49 percent of New York State voters disapprove of his job performance, compared to 45 percent who approve. That's the first time Obama has registered a negative differential between his approval and disapproval ratings in the heavily Democratic state. And the result represents a sharp drop from late June, when the president had a 57 percent approval rating and a 38 percent disapproval rating in the state.

IMPORTANT! DOJ WEBSITE CHANGE- COMPLETE WITH SOCIALIST QUOTE FROM C WILFRED JENKS!!
Patriot Action Network | Posted by Sharon Sutton on March 21, 2011
Always important to watch what is going on behind the scenes!!!
U.S. Department of Justice W E B S I T E C H A N G E - I M P O R T A N T!
Little by little, the subtle changes come until one day we will wake up and be the United Socialist States of America.
2012 is just around the corner so get, and stay, engaged as if our nation depended on it because it does!!!!!
U.S. Department of Justice ditches Red, White, and Blue Stars and Stripes. Well, how interesting! It seems the U.S. Department of Justice has changed its web site. Gone are the colorful red, white, and blue U.S. Flag decorations on the page,
Replaced by stark black and white.
And at the top of the page, is a rather interesting quote: "The common law is the will of mankind, issuing from the life of the people." Catchy, huh? Just one tiny little (too small to be relevant obviously) point --the quote is from C. Wilfred Jenks who, in the 1930s, was a leading proponent of the "international law" movement, which had as its goal the imposition of a global common law and which backed 'global workers' rights.' Call it Marxism, call it Progressivism, call it Socialism -- under any of those names, it definitely makes the DOJ look corrupt in their new website with Marxist accessories to match.
See for yourself
How very interesting that 'they' couldn't find a nice quote from one of the Founders of our country, but a socialist instead. People, we have lost our Republic. This is an example of the slow, methodical misuse of power our current government is doing as they lead us to socialism, and destroying our Republic as we have known it.
Get ready for 2012 -

FT: SEC Investigating S&P Employees for Insider Trading Over Downgrade of US Debt
Friday, 12 Aug 2011
By Forrest Jones
The Securities and Exchange Commission has asked Standard and Poor's to hand over a list of people who knew the agency was going to downgrade U.S. ratings before it was announced to see if possible insider trading took place.
Sources familiar with the issue tell the Financial Times that the SEC's enforcement division isn't after the S&P nor do they have evidence of specific trading activity that would suggest a leak.
An examination department, which oversees ratings agencies, asked for names.
Should a formal investigation evolve, a bigger issue could arise - Standard and Poor's license.

Debt Ceiling Up, S&P Rating Down | by Phyllis Schlafly | August 12, 2011 |
 Phyllis Schlafly |
Remember how we were threatened that if the Republican House of Representatives didn't raise the U.S. debt ceiling, the stock market would crash and Standard & Poor's would punish us by downgrading our credit rating? So, the Republicans did what Wall Street, President Obama and the media demanded, the stock market nose-dived anyway and S & P reduced our financial rating for the first time in history from Triple-A to second-place AA-plus.
One of the vocal predictors of financial disaster if the House failed to obey Obama's wishes was Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner. That's just the latest indication of his incompetence for his job.
The problem isn't the debt ceiling but out-of-control spending. The bipartisan compromise increased the government's borrowing limit by nearly a trillion dollars but cut less than $2 trillion in spending over the next ten years, which hardly makes a dent in the problem.

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick told business leaders Thursday the nation's debt crisis is "monumental" and couldn't be solved with spending cuts and tax increases without a growing economy.
"We could eliminate entire federal departments and confiscate every dollar of taxable income from every millionaire and billionaire in this country and we still would not be able to close the budget deficit and begin paying off our debt," Fitzpatrick said to nearly 200 Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce members at Philadelphia Biblical University in Langhorne Manor.
"The only real and lasting solution is to grow the economy and create jobs. Doing so expands the tax base and increases revenues to the government without raising anyone's rates."

All Eyes on Iowa, Except for Those on Perry
The focus of the GOP presidential race turned to the corn fields of Iowa this week, as the candidates debated Thursday night and will face off in the Ames Straw Poll Saturday. That's when, as political analyst Michael Barone sarcastically observed, "[S]ome 15,000 to 25,000 Iowans in a state of 3 million will travel to Ames and pay a $30 fee that may determine who will be president of a nation of 311 million." Actually, the poll is by no means the final determinant in the race, and the caucus isn't until Feb. 6, 2012, but a poor showing in the poll might eliminate a candidate or two.
Competing with the festivities in Iowa, Texas Gov. Rick Perry will announce his presidential bid Saturday in Charleston, and that will surely rock the boat. His entrance is timed to coincide with the attention in Ames, but also to avoid the poll and the debate, which many watchers say he "won" by virtue of not being there.
Back in July, we said the race really boiled down to three or four candidates -- Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty and Rick Perry. Unless Pawlenty wins or finishes a close second in Ames, however, we will likely strike him from that list -- especially given his rather lackluster performance in last night's debate. He and Bachmann spent most of their energy attacking each other. Pawlenty hasn't gained the kind of traction we expected for an experienced governor who offers a pretty solid conservative choice. Newsweek had some fun with its cover photo of Bachmann this week (more on that below), but she continues to enjoy strong Tea Party support. As for Romney, still the frontrunner, Obama's campaign has already signaled that they think he will be the nominee with their leaked intention to "kill Romney" -- figuratively, of course, but what is it with this intemperate rhetoric from the Left?
The elephant not in the room last night, Rick Perry, is running well in most polls. His entrance is more likely to hurt Bachmann and the rest of the field than to dent Romney's support -- for now, anyway. Perry was elected governor to succeed George W. Bush in 2000, and he is serving his third term. He was a Democrat until 1989, and he even campaigned for Al Gore in his 1988 presidential bid, back when a Texas Democrat was a far different animal. In fact, he jokes, "I was 25 years old before I think I ever met a person who would admit being a Republican."
Perry has a long way to go to convince conservatives that he's the "real deal," however. Some conservatives find a few things on Perry's record to be disqualifying -- whether his push for the Trans Texas Corridor, a $150 billion transportation network through the state, his 2007 executive order requiring teenage girls to be vaccinated against cervical cancer, or Texas' possible $27 billion budget deficit this year. The state receives sizable chunks of federal money, but Perry also rejected $555 million in "stimulus" cash in 2009. His record on energy is good -- being from Texas helps -- and he's been a frequent and vocal critic of the EPA's policies. And according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Lone Star State added 732,000 private sector jobs in the last decade, while no other state cracked 100,000.
Socially, Perry is very conservative, though he seems to be having a tough time reconciling that with his 10th Amendment support. In July, he said that New York had the right to legalize same-sex marriage, but that he would support a constitutional amendment preserving traditional marriage. He hopes the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade, returning the issue to the states, but that he "would support amending the U.S. Constitution ... to protect innocent life." His statements are not complete contradictions, but he should clarify where he stands. (Erring on the side of the 10th Amendment is a good start.) He hosted a prayer rally at Houston's Reliant Stadium last week, too -- an event attended by 32,000 people.
The bottom line is that Perry's entrance will shake things up in the GOP field. In fact, it may be a few candidates smaller come next week as a result. The question is whether he's the genuine article, and, at this point, that's open for debate.
What do you think of Rick Perry?

On the Campaign Trail: Newsweek's Bachmann Cover
Childish, mean-spirited ridicule from the Left is often a rite of passage for popular conservative figures in the country, and this week Michele Bachmann came of age. Newsweek published a cover photo of the Minnesota congresswoman and presidential candidate that unflatteringly portrays as her as a wild-eyed "Queen of Rage." It's just the latest in a series of attempted slams at the increasingly popular Bachmann, who has gained a strong following among conservatives. That's why reports have poured out of the media about migraines, slanderous speculation about her husband's sexuality, and of course her strong ties to the Tea Party, which leftists now deride as economic "terrorists."
Bachmann had no comment about the matter, but, surprisingly, even the National Organization for Women spoke out on her behalf. NOW has long been nothing more than a tool of the Left -- siding with Hillary Clinton during her media grilling, but not Sarah Palin; remaining silent about Bill Clinton's skirt-chasing antics in Arkansas and the White House, but pouncing on every irresponsible Republican they could find. This week, though, NOW President Terry O'Neill broke that double standard, stating that Bachmann "is a serious viable candidate for the United States presidency and there is no male viable candidate who has ever been treated this way." O'Neill's statement may have been anti-Newsweek, but it was not pro-Bachmann -- she noted more than once that she wants to defeat Bachmann.
As for Newsweek, its readership has shrunk to insignificance, and the magazine is now little more than PC coffee table reading of a paltry few. Its fawning coverage of Obama before and during his campaign and through much of his presidency earned it the nickname "Obamaweek" from The Weekly Standard. Newsweek's coverage of Michele Bachmann is meant to be digested by leftists only, and there's no reason for clearer minds to bother with it.
News From the Swamp: The Debt 'Super Committee'
Capitol Hill Democrats and Republicans have announced their 12 picks for the so-called Congressional Super Committee that is charged with finding a way to reduce the debt by $1.5 trillion over 10 years. The evenly split bipartisan committee will have until Thanksgiving to agree on a plan, and speculation is rampant about what that plan will look like, or if it will even materialize. Based on the picks, the latter is most likely.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) chose Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) to co-chair the committee while also managing her duties as chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. It's a sure bet that any debt decision she makes will be geared toward holding on to the Democrats' majority in 2012, regardless of the cost. The other Democrats are Sen. John Kerry (MA), fresh from his labeling of the Standard & Poor's credit move a "Tea Party downgrade," and Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (MT), who is somewhat more reasonable than either of his colleagues. From the Republican side of the Senate, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) appointed Sens. Jon Kyl (AZ), Rob Portman (OH), and Pat Toomey (PA), the only member of the committee who voted against the debt-ceiling hike.
On the House side, Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) named House Republican Conference Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) as co-chair with Murray. House Ways and Means Committee Chairman David Camp (R-MI) and House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) were also named to the committee. Upton is probably the only one of the three with a spotty record. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the Budget Committee, would have been an obvious choice, but, though he approved of the selections, he requested that Boehner not appoint him so he could focus on the budget process. House Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) chose three defenders of the entitlement status quo in Minority Whip Rep. James Clyburn (SC), Chris Van Hollen (MD) and Xavier Becerra (CA).
The Republican picks demonstrate a wide degree of fiscal experience in the congressional, executive and private sectors. The GOP's goal is to reform entitlements -- the biggest drivers of the debt. They also want to tackle tax reforms that will aid our bleak economy, not punish the wealthy. Democrats have signaled with their picks that they are entrenched in calling for higher taxes and resisting entitlement reform. No surprise at all.

Recess? What Recess?
A few House Republicans are holding the fort against Barack Obama's recess appointments this month while the rest of their colleagues are on August recess. According to the Constitution, the president may make unilateral temporary appointments to various agencies when Congress is not in session. However, neither the House nor the Senate may adjourn without the consent of the other chamber. The nine GOP representatives are holding pro-forma sessions every three days, thereby blocking the Senate from adjourning and preventing any Obama appointments. They are freshmen Jeff Landry (LA), Andy Harris (MD), Jeff Duncan (SC), Mick Mulvaney (SC), Jeff Denham (CA), Trey Gowdy (SC), Steve Stivers (OH), Allen West (FL), as well as three-term Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH).
The most recent benefit of this maneuver has been the House's blocking of Richard Cordray's appointment as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. These Republicans are living up to a promise made by 77 freshmen in June to do whatever was necessary to prevent Obama's ability to make another recess appointment. This procedure isn't new; Obama's two most recent predecessors were also stumped by it. Yet it still didn't stop Bill Clinton from making 139 recess appointments, or George W. Bush from making 171. Obama has made 21 in two-and-a-half years, due in part to the actions of Republicans like the group currently meeting in the House.
Unions Stumble in Wisconsin Recall ElectionsEarlier this year, Wisconsin's Republican legislature and GOP Gov. Scott Walker made a series of reforms that took a bite out of public unions' lavish benefits. Predictably, the unions threw a tantrum. First, they spent millions to defeat a conservative justice on the state supreme court to help them win legal challenges. That didn't work, but they also forced several GOP lawmakers into recall elections. Those were held Tuesday, and, for the most part, that didn't work either. Republicans won four out of six elections -- a major blow to the unions and their allies, who once again spent millions to try to buy victory. One of the losing Republicans represented a heavily Democrat district, and the other was plagued by scandal and lost only narrowly. The four victors, however, also represented districts Barack Obama won in 2008. Round three will be recall elections next Tuesday for two Democrats who fled the state earlier this year in a vain attempt to obstruct Republicans in passing budget legislation. Delusional Democrats are trying to cast Tuesday's outcome as a win, but it's possible that the unions could go 0-for-3 if Democrats lose next week. Who would have thought it possible in Wisconsin, the home of "progressivism"? National SecurityWarfront With Jihadistan: SEALs Suffer Tremendous LossThe Long War continues, and, sadly, more of America's best and bravest gave their last full measure this week. While every battle casualty, regardless of circumstances, is a tragedy, this most recent loss is notable for both the size of the loss, as well as who was lost. Last weekend, jihadis shot down a CH-47 Chinook in eastern Afghanistan, killing 38 people. Among the dead were 30 Americans, most of whom belonged to the Navy SEAL unit that killed Osama bin Laden. Seven Afghan commandos were also killed. It was the deadliest single loss for American forces in the decade-old Afghan war. The loss of so many members of SEAL Team 6 just months after terminating bin Laden is a heavy blow. Although none of the 22 SEALs killed was part of the bin Laden hit team, they belonged to the same unit. Thankfully, it appears that the jihadis who downed the helicopter joined bin Laden on Monday. Marine Corps General John R. Allen, senior Afghan commander, said the U.S. military tracked the terrorists after the helicopter was downed, and a strike by an F-16 sent the group of 10 or so jihadis to their awaiting virgins. In regard to the OBL mission, an interesting development: Hollywood is planning to release a movie about the SEAL team and its mission next October, obviously timed to remind voters of Obama's "very gutsy call" and give him a boost heading into Election Day. Though we caution you consider the source, New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd writes, "The moviemakers are getting top-level access to the most classified mission in history from an administration that has tried to throw more people in jail for leaking classified information than the Bush administration." The Defense Department denies the charge. On the Iraqi front, Obama's famed "phased withdrawal," which he said would "change the political dynamic in Iraq" is nearing its end and the "political dynamic" in Iraq is far from changed. Recognizing this, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said that all of Iraq's political factions, with the exception of Moqtada al-Sadr's cohorts, want a sizable number of U.S. troops to stay and train Iraqi forces, no doubt hoping a sizable U.S. presence will help stabilize the still-fragile democracy there. Here's hoping Obama will recognize that reality, but he has yet to recognize any reality, anywhere. Profiles of ValorKimberly Vaughn, wife of SEAL Aaron Vaughn, who was among 30 American Patriots and seven Afghan allies killed on Aug. 6, offered these words to CNN: "There was no way -- even if you could tell him that this would have happened he would have done it anyway. All those men are like that. They're selfless. I want to tell the world that he was an amazing man, that he was a wonderful husband and a fabulous father to two wonderful children. He was a warrior for Christ and he was a warrior for our country and he wouldn't want to leave this Earth any other way than how he did." When CNN aired her comments in subsequent stories, however, "He was a warrior for Christ" was, despicably, edited out. Voice your support for our military The Syrian ProblemFinally, after nearly five months of escalating violence by the Syrian regime against its own people, the Obama administration appears ready to call for Bashar al-Assad to step down from power. Casual followers of international news might have expected the White House to call for Assad to step down after he turned tanks against civilians, or after he orchestrated a mob attack against the U.S. Embassy in Damascus, but they would have been mistaken. Neither of those events, nor the estimated 2,000 or more civilian deaths that Assad is responsible for, were enough to sway the administration to call for his resignation, or even to withdraw the U.S. Ambassador from Syria. No, the administration was too busy praising Assad as "a reformer." But now, when even regional Arab nations such as Saudi Arabia have begun recalling their diplomats, it appears Barack Obama is finally ready to lead from behind. The usual suspects appear equally determined to prevent calling Assad to account. The Russians opposed even a proposal for the UN's human rights section to brief the full General Assembly on events in Syria, as if reviewing what everyone already knows would be too upsetting. "We believe that the crucial thing for the international community is to make sure that the dialogue starts," said Vitaly Churkin, Russia's UN envoy. Assad and the protesters have been exchanging dialogue since March -- a decidedly one-sided dialogue expressed mostly with brute force and bullets. Serious people have asked the serious question of why NATO has bombed Libya for five months due to that regime's murderous rampage against protesters, but Syria is somehow off limits even to diplomatic coercion. A resolute call for Assad to step down should have taken place months and many lives ago. Communities Against TerrorismThe FBI in Denver recently released a flyer listing "potential indicators of terrorist activities related to military surplus stores." On the one hand, DHS/FEMA has an entire preparedness division and many of these items used to be standard on household lists during the Cold War. On the other hand, anybody who follows the Boy Scouts motto -- "Be Prepared" -- could find themselves on the terrorist watch list. Specifically, anyone who pays with cash to make bulk purchases of Meals Read to Eat (MREs), high-capacity magazines or bi-pods for rifles could be suspicious. The point is that the FBI warning goes a lot farther than terrorists. In fact, our nation's Founders might have been on FBI watch lists. Business & EconomyIncome Redistribution: More Money to FannieIn a typical example of the economic failure of Barack Obama's big government policies, the S&P downgraded not just the credit rating of the nation but also those of government mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and other agencies linked to long-term U.S. debt. While Democrats continue to blame the refereeing of the S&P in addition to scapegoating the Tea Party (which, by the way, didn't incur $15 trillion in national debt) or the inability of voters to understand the genius of Mr. Obama, we think what leftists aren't saying is the true reason. It's also the very reason cited by the S&P for downgrading these government mortgage entities: too much debt. Since Fannie Mae was seized by the U.S. government in 2008, it has been given about $104 billion in taxpayer funds to stay afloat. Together with Freddie Mac, the two entities' bad debt has consumed $169 billion of taxpayer money. As if wasting that isn't enough, a 2010 report by the Federal Housing Finance Agency estimated Freddie and Fannie might end up costing taxpayers as much as $363 billion through 2013. The only reservation is that the report assumes the U.S. housing market recovers and the country doesn't experience a double-dip recession. Never content with bungling everything, the federal government reportedly is considering turning repossessed Freddie and Fannie homes into cheap rentals with burdensome and complicated rules. What could possibly go wrong?
Regulatory Commissars: Tentative Steps in Alaska
The Obama administration finally allowed Shell Oil to begin the process of obtaining the necessary permits and authorizations to drill in Alaska as soon as next year. It's a hopeful sign after the virtual shutdown of drilling over the last 15 months. Predictably, there are a few caveats, as Interior Secretary Ken Salazar still stressed the need for additional government oversight and study of drilling in Arctic conditions. While the waters off Alaska are far shallower than those found under a number of Gulf wells, the climatic conditions and lack of infrastructure in the far reaches of the region could make spill response difficult. Also embedded in the memory of many Alaskans is the damage caused by the massive Exxon Valdez spill in 1989. Until Deepwater Horizon, that was regarded as our nation's worst oil-related accident.
Alaska Republican Gov. Sean Parnell has established a goal of one million barrels per day through the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline by the end of this decade, yet he needs the cooperation of the federal government, which owns nearly 70 percent of Alaska's land mass. That mass includes the hotly disputed Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, or ANWR, where millions of barrels of oil have remained untapped as the debate over drilling on that frigid wasteland has raged for more than a decade.
While the bickering between envirofascists, the oil industry, and the federal government continues in a number of venues, we still need energy. We hope this latest development is the start of a thawing for energy exploration up north.
Opening Up the Trade Door
They have been several years in the making, but passage of free trade agreements with Columbia, Panama and South Korea may finally be on the horizon. These agreements were stalled by union and Obama administration opposition, which led to the inclusion of a $1.5 billion trade adjustment assistance package within the South Korean pact. That made it a non-starter among fiscally conservative House Republicans, but the administration wouldn't turn over any trade agreement to Congress without that proviso included.
Finally, in the wake of persistent high unemployment, Obama caved. He may have also seen the rest of the world taking advantage of America's lack of urgency in passing these deals. South Korea recently inked a $10 billion pact with the European Union, allowing those markets to take advantage of each other's strengths. Meanwhile, Canada and Columbia forged their own trade alliance that will take effect later this month. It's a deal certain to reduce America's market share in that rapidly growing South American republic, a nation that's one of our staunchest allies on the continent and serves as a counterweight to Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.
The trade adjustment assistance package may still pass as a separate bill, but the unions that loudly denounced some of these agreements will no longer hold them hostage. "Let them complain," said one Democrat staffer. Opening up key markets to American goods could be a big job creator, and whether they're union jobs or not should be irrelevant.

Village Academic Curriculum: NCLB Waivers
The Obama administration is once again making use of the waiver to circumvent Congress, this time offering a pass to states that don't want to be held to the educational standards set by No Child Left Behind (NCLB). As justification for this move, Education Secretary Arne Duncan stated simply, "Congress is dysfunctional." On that note, at least, he'll get no argument from us. But true to form, Obama and his henchmen are playing on public perception, in this case, of Congress' performance -- or lack thereof -- to mask the real issue. This is, of course, the administration's utter contempt for the American form of government.
NCLB, the late Ted Kennedy's brainchild, was signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2002 and mandated that students be "proficient" in math and reading by 2014. Under the current guidelines, however, 82 percent of American public schools will be deemed failing by next year under a virtually impossible one-size-fits-all standard. No one is arguing that the law doesn't need to be reworked, and, in fact, Republican lawmakers have come up with three separate bills to address NCLB's shortcomings. These measures would limit the federal role in education and give more flexibility to the states, including allowing them to opt out altogether. They were to be voted on this fall, but apparently that wasn't fast enough for Obama and company.
Not surprisingly, Secretary Duncan has neglected to release the details of the waivers, but this much is known: They are not unconditional. States applying for the waivers must submit to certain federal demands, including national standards. "The standards will be high. The bar will be high," said Melody Barnes, director of the White House's Domestic Policy Council. "Accountability will remain one of the bellwethers for our system as it has in the past." Except when it comes to holding the administration accountable, anyway.
'Flash Mobs' Have Racial Element Both Here and in UK
If you're unaware of the epidemic of black-against-white violence that's plaguing cities in the U.S. and beyond, you're not alone. In the past few years, black "flash mobs" have attacked innocent white victims apparently based solely on race -- often inflicting serious or even deadly injury. Yet, instead of reporting the stories fully, most in the Leftmedia have raced to cover up the perpetrators' race. As John Bennett writes in the American Thinker, "The hateful murders of Matthew Shepard, who was gay, and James Byrd, Jr., who was black, were memorialized with national legislation. When similar crimes are committed by blacks against whites, they are greeted with ignominious silence." For those brave enough to say something, the accusation of "race-baiting" awaits. "Presumably, it would not be considered race-baiting if the races were reversed," Bennett writes of this double standard.
Just last week in Wisconsin, black-against-white flash-mob violence at the state fair led to 11 injuries and 31 arrests. In Philadelphia, mob violence led Mayor Michael Nutter -- himself black -- to tell black youths, "You've damaged yourself, you've damaged another person, you've damaged your peers and, quite honestly, you've damaged your own race. Parents who neglect their children, who don't know where they are, who don't know what they're doing, who don't know who they're hanging out with, you're going to find yourself spending some quality time with your kids in jail." Good for the mayor. And over in London, a few brave souls have stated the obvious: that the majority of the rioters are black.
We don't think it's coincidence that many of the cities where flash-mob violence has occurred -- Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York -- have for decades been run by leftists. Given the non-consequences faced by perpetrators in the now-famous Black Panther voter intimidation case (thank you, Obama Justice Department), flash mobs probably know there will be no repercussions for acts of violence. What there will be, though, is protection for the perpetrators behind a media too steeped in politically correct hogwash to report the truth.

Algore got a bit hot under the collar the other day as he was complaining about opposition to his big-government climate agenda. During remarks at an Aspen Institute forum, he had an ox to gore. He assailed climate-change skeptics as those who "pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists, to put out the message: 'This climate thing, it's nonsense. Man-made CO2 doesn't trap heat. It may be volcanoes.'"
"Bulls--t!" thundered Gore. "'It may be sun spots.' Bulls--t! 'It's not getting warmer.' Bulls--t!" Hey, if anybody knows anything about the subject of barnyard excrement, it's Gore.
He wasn't finished, either. "There are about 10 other memes that are out there, and when you go and talk to any audience about climate, you hear them washing back at you. The same crap, over and over and over again," he whined. "There is no longer a shared reality on an issue like climate even though the very existence of our civilization is threatened. People have no idea!" he cried. "It's no longer acceptable in mixed company, meaning bipartisan company, to use the g--d--n word 'climate.'"
We understand why the Nobel-, Oscar-, and Grammy-winner is all worked up. After all, he's made nearly a billion dollars doling out this global warming alarmism while denying the inconvenient truth that the science is far from "settled." Still, it sounds like somebody needs to take a serious chill pill.

Truth and public safety be damned, rioters are first and foremost Democrat voters!

By Doug Book, staff writer
On August 4th, around closing time at the Wisconsin State Fair, "...dozens of black youths attacked white people as they left the fair, punching and kicking people and shaking and pounding on vehicles."
"...These black kids were running in between all the cars...pounding on my doors...and they didn't do one thing to this black couple that was in this car next to us," recalled an Iraq veteran who said the attacks "...reminded him of war."
"They were looking in everybody's windshield...seeing who was white and who was black."
But on Friday, though fair attendance suffered a bit, there were no fights, no beatings and no race riot. For that, credit Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Milwaukee police chief Ed Flynn, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and fair CEO Rick Frenette.
Walker sent State Police to patrol and secure the Fair, Flynn and Barrett increased police presence at ... Continue Reading:Truth and public safety be damned, rioters are first and foremost Democrat voters!

The Second American Revolution is just around the corner!
Aug 14, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins
By Doug Book, staff writer
Prior to the 2010 elections, pollster Pat Caddell warned members of the political ruling class that the nation "...may be at a pre-revolutionary moment," calling the November vote "...more of a national referendum than any [midterm] since Watergate."
A longtime Democrat, Caddell's warning was not directed exclusively to his party, for though it would bear the brunt of voter scorn, Republicans were also widely mistrusted and arguably enjoyed a record victory principally because they were NOT Democrats.
As a measure of voter distemper, consider that John McCain, a presidential candidate just 2 years earlier, might have suffered a primary defeat had he been challenged by a more formidable opponent.
Indeed, finally called to account for his frequent betrayal of conservatives, the McCain campaign was forced to craft a right-wing political caricature which left him barely recognizable as the aisle crossing capitulator he had been...a role which cost other Republicans their ... NRA-ILA GRASSROOTS ALERT Vol. 18, No. 33 08/12/11
By now you have seen the headlines and images of destruction: the rioting, looting, violent assaults, and arson. London and other UK cities look like war zones and their citizens are afraid to venture out, because the danger is very real. It's a view of the temporary breakdown of society. It is gut check time; a time when the concept of being able to defend oneself gives way to the stark reality that few viable options to do so exist.
Gun laws in the UK are among the most restrictive in the world. In March of 1996, a deranged man walked into a school in Dunblane, Scotland and killed 16 children and one teacher. In the aftermath of this tragedy, British politicians sought to reduce violent crime by enacting a ban on all handguns. Handgun owners were given a February 1998 deadline to turn in their firearms--and they did. The UK was supposed to become a much safer place--but dramatic increases in crime following the gun ban proved it didn't.
A July 3, 2009, Daily Mail article reported that "Britain's violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European Union, it has been revealed. Official crime figures show the U.K. also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa."
Students For Concealed Carry On Campus Hold National Conference: Students for Concealed Carry on Campus is a national, non-partisan, grassroots organization comprising over 42,000 college students, professors, college employees, parents of college students, and concerned citizens who believe that holders of state-issued concealed handgun licenses should be allowed the same measure of personal protection on college campuses that they enjoy virtually everywhere else.

Immigration/Jobless Questions Break into Iowa Debate
|
Eight of the 2012 GOP Presidential Hopefuls squared off last night in a nationally televised debate from Ames, Iowa. Five candidates were asked about their position on a variety of immigration issues.
We expect that candidates, especially in the GOP, get asked about their views on illegal immigration, but what made last night's debate important was the question that the Washington Examiner's Susan Ferrechio asked of frontrunner Mitt Romney.
With the unemployment rate at 9.1%, do you still think we need to import more foreign labor?
You can read Mitt Romney's response in my blog highlighting the candidates' responses to the immigration questions posed last night. But the fact that a question connecting unemployment to legal immigration was finally asked in a national debate -- to the frontrunner, no less -- is a huge victory!
TWITTER OVERLOAD: It's actually because of you that Mitt Romney was asked a question about legal immigration. Earlier this week, the debate's moderator, Bret Baier of FoxNews, solicited questions to ask the candidates during the debate.
Our LEAP Team Coordinator, Andrew Good, asked you to send up to four possible questions, and within a few hours, Baier's Twitter account was flooded with immigration-related questions!
Moderators also asked Ron Paul about his position on E-Verify (another Twitter supplied question), Herman Cain about his position on a border fence, Newt Gingrich on his plan to create citizen groups that would award amnesty to illegal aliens, and Jon Huntsman on his opposition to mass deportations.
Again, you can read all their responses in my blog, but more importantly, their responses will have an impact on our Presidential comparison grid. We'll be making those changes over the next few days.
Thanks, Chris Chmielenski Director, Content & Activism

Top Environmentalist Sees Little Future for U.S. Wildlife Without Deep Cuts in Immigration
| | |
By Leon Kolankiewicz, Tuesday, August 9, 2011
|
Our call for replacement-level immigration (a reduction in annual numbers by perhaps 80%) has just received a huge boost of validity in a new book -- Man Swarm and the Killing of Wildlife -- by Dave Foreman. Over the last four decades, few people have been more true and highly-publicized in their championing of the U.S. environment than Foreman. Essentially, he concludes that wildlife in the U.S. face a dismal future without deep cuts in immigration. Read Full Entry

Arizona Appeals Lower Courts' Ruling on SB1070 to the Supreme Court

Thursday, August 11, 2011

The state of Arizona, led by Gov. Jan Brewer, has filed an appeal with the United States Supreme Court, asking the court to consider the lower federal court rulings regarding its 2010 immigration-enforcement law. An Arizona federal district court and the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that certain provisions of Arizona's law usurp federal immigration enforcement efforts. Read Full Entry

Postville Raid Delayed Because of Politics

Retired federal agent Estela Biesemeyer said that the federal government was ready to deal with illegal hirings at the Agriprocessors meatpacking plant in Postville, Iowa in 2000 before the operation was delayed for fear that it might impact the 2000 presidential elections. The raid eventually took place in 2008 and resulted in the arrest of more than 400 illegal workers. Read Full Entry

16 Countries Side with Justice Department in Lawsuit Against Alabama
| | |
Friday, August 5, 2011
|
Sixteen countries, including Mexico, have filed briefs supporting the Department of Justice's lawsuit against Alabama's recently passed immigration enforcement law. In June, the Alabama legislature passed a bill that many believe is tougher than Arizona's SB1070 bill that also drew a lawsuit from federal prosecutors last year. According to the attorney who filed the briefs, the 16 countries "want one immigration law and not 50." Read Full Entry

Proposed rule on farms called 'absurd'
|

|
Written by Sonny Riddle | 12:00 am 08/12/11 |
images/stories/2011/08August/081211tractor.jpg
A new rule being proposed by the federal Department of Transportation would require farmers to get commercial drivers licenses.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which is a part of DOT, wants to adopt standards that would reclassify all farm vehicles and implements as Commercial Motor Vehicles, officials said. Likewise, the proposal, if adopted, would require all farmers and everyone on the farm who operates any of the equipment to obtain a CDL, they added.
The proposed rule change would mean that anyone who drives a tractor or operates any piece of motorized farming equipment would be required to pass the same tests and complete the same detailed forms and logs required of semi-tractor trailer drivers.

Friend --
At a time when our country is in serious trouble, two black personalities -- PBS host Tavis Smiley and left wing Princeton University professor Cornel West -- have launched a 15-city "poverty" tour to exploit the opportunity for their "minority" agenda.
In the words of West, "...we're going to hit the brown barrios, the Asian poor communities, white poor communities, the Black hoods." What's their message? The gap in wealth in America between blacks and whites is "...tied to greed and power among our oligarchs and plutocrats." Translation: the poor are poor because the rich are rich. What's their solution? "...massive job creation programs and massive investment in public housing, education, transportation and health." Maybe you wonder "Why is Star always asking for more support?" This should make it clear. I am the ONLY voice fighting this - and I need your help. These two black personalities - Smiley and West - command respect in low-income communities. They will be listened to. They will tell low-income Americans that the system is rigged, to not believe in America and that the country only works for the rich. Black Democrats in Congress will echo these views and mobilize support to push against everything we need to do to save our nation and get it back on track. Millions of low-income Americans, many out of work, will hear that they've been abandoned. They will hear that massive government spending is their only hope and it's not there because powerful rich people are not paying taxes. This will be exploited by our president whose spokesman the other day called the downgrade in our nation's debt a "tea party downgrade." Our president and his bureaucrats do not give up. They are pushing even harder now for their left wing, socialist program! It's a dangerous message. We must get the truth to low-income Americans. They must know that all Americans have the same interests. There will only be jobs when America starts to grow again, and America will not start growing with big government, high taxes, and a culture of dependence. My network of black pastors, whose congregations total several hundred thousand members, hear from me every week. I need to expand this list to 5000 conservative black pastors nationwide who will receive my weekly newsletter about freedom and faith. In September I will tape the pilot for my TV show. It will reach low income Americans and all Americans, to help them understand how we got in this mess and what we need to do to get out -- how to cut back the bloated government that has been gobbling up trillions of dollars for useless "programs", how less government and more freedom will improve our education, our health care, our housing and get business and job growth going again. Here's part of a letter I got from a black pastor the other day:
Thank you for the article, "Why do Blacks let Obama off the Hook". It's so refreshing to see a Black sister (or brother) be honest. I am a retired, Baptist pastor (38 years) and could never understand how I was so out of step with the two congregations that I served who were so fundamental and conservative in their faith yet so liberal in their political philosophy. I really appreciate you.
Friend, I need your help at this critical time. Will you support me once again by donating $50, $100, $250 or even $2,500 by clicking on this link right now? I am sure you are as worried about our nation as I am. Reaching low income Americans with the truth is vital to getting the grass roots support necessary for turning our economy around. Please help me with your immediate donation so this fall the Star Parker Freedom Tour can reach just as many people as Smiley and West's campaign for liberalism. Your foot soldier for freedom,
Star Parker

Supercommittee member Rep. Becerra to be feted by lobbyist at DC fundraiser
"Super Congress" has it's perks
Mere hours after House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) named Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) to the debt-reduction supercommittee, lobbyists were gearing up to fete him at a fundraiser later this month. The Investment Company Institute, which according to public records has already spent $2.4 million lobbying Congress this year, on Thursday touted a fundraiser for Becerra scheduled for Aug. 31.

Any member of President Obama's reelection campaign who works to slime former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) as a general election candidate risks being fired, senior campaign adviser David Axelrod said Friday.
Amid reports that the president's campaign was preparing a plan to "kill Romney" as a general election candidate, Axelrod stressed that they had no such plan in waiting.

What you missed while watching the Iowa GOP debate
Minute by minute
-1 minutes. As everyone awaits the third Republican presidential debate of the season, Bill O'Reilly is wrapping up his show on Fox News. When he threatens to call Professor Cornel West a "pinhead," America knows. It's go time.
0 minutes. "Thanks Bill," says Bret Baier, the blockishly handsome anchorman with a hard-boiled name. He welcomes everybody, but it's hard to hear him. Apparently thousands of people in the massive Iowa State University auditorium are screaming at the top of their lungs. Has something gone wrong? The camera pans back to show a swirling light show dancing over the crowd. Fox News knows how to get the party started. Hit them with the lights.

Romney: "Corporations are people my friend."
Democrats getting talking points from hecklers
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, clearly irritated by a handful of hecklers amid supporters at the Iowa State Fair, insisted Thursday that "corporations are people," a comment Democrats gleefully predicted would be a defining moment of his campaign.
Hours before he was to face most of his primary opponents in an Iowa debate, the former Massachusetts governor was outlining options for reining in the federal deficit and overhauling entitlement programs. He acknowledged that raising taxes on individuals was an option, but he said he opposed it.

On Friday's Program
GOP hopefuls debate, Bachmann/Pawlenty duke it out
Romney played the role of frontrunner fairly well, Rick Santorum had a few good moments, Herman Cain and Jon Huntsman Jr. had so-so performances while Michele Bachmann had a few highlights of her own including a dust up with Tim Pawlenty. Another interesting moment was when Byron York asked Bachmann if she'd be 'submissive' to her husband while President. Glenn has a recap of the GOP debate from last night - WATCH.
Santorum v. Ron Paul on foreign policy
One of the more heated exchanges in the debate came when Rick Santorum and Ron Paul clashed over foreign policy, specifically Iran. Paul seemed to suggest that the icy relationship between America and Iran is America's fault and that Iran doesn't really pose a threat. Not exactly a mainstream position -- and Santorum schooled him on it. Glenn reacts to this exchange and more on radio today. WATCH

Romney goes off on heckler A fantastic video making the rounds on the internet features Mitt Romney squaring off against a group of clearly organized leftist idiots who started peppering him with ridiculous leftist talking points. England riots: nothing to see here! Move along!
The press continues to ignore the threat of violence coming to America, even though they said the same thing about England where they are rioting. Three young people trying to defend their family's business were killed trying to do so, and now there is a massive backlash against the looters in England. A group of Muslim vigilantes are vowing to 'hunt down' these 'black men' and 'cut off their heads and feed them to our dogs'. But don't worry about a thing! Everything is fine and dandy over there - just a little Arab Spring in England. Glenn has more on the story HERE.
Unemployment checks creates jobs? WH thinks so...
Press Secretary Jay Carney mocks and ridicules a reporter who dared to question the logic behind how unemployment 'creates' jobs. This administration is so blatantly redefining everything - to try and argue that somehow handing out paychecks to people is a job creating machine is simply preposterous. Not only is he wrong, he's condescending as well. Get the full story HERE.
