Fitzpatrick: Was downgrade orchestrated by Treasury?

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick is questioning whether the U.S. Department of the Treasury manipulated capital markets by pressuring Standard & Poor's into a decision that has cost retirement investors billions of dollars.
"I want to know what the Treasury Department knew and when they knew it," Fitzpatrick said Tuesday. "Both retirement investors and individual investors have lost significant amounts of money, and the net result is that President Obama can now borrow more money at cheaper rates. The American people need to know that was not orchestrated."

Laffer: Obama Must Use Reaganomics to Save Economy

It's the buzz of Hollywood.
But the buzz in Washington appears to be an "alleged collaboration," as Homeland chief Peter King put it, between the filmmakers and the Pentagon, White House, and CIA-and it's generating some odd plot twists.

Arizona Sends Immigration Case to Supreme Court

PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer filed an appeal Wednesday with the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a ruling that put on hold key parts of the state's immigration enforcement law.
The appeal comes as Brewer faced a deadline for contesting a district court's decision that, among other things, barred a requirement that police - while enforcing other laws - question the immigration status of those they suspected of being in the country illegally.
Brewer lost her first appeal in April when a three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected her request to overturn the decision. The nation's highest court has discretion on whether to hear her appeal. It will likely be three months before the Supreme Court decides whether to hear arguments in the case.

Volatile Dow Plunges 520 Points as Freefall Continues
Back to reality for the stock market -- and back down. Wall Street focused Wednesday on the bleak landscape ahead for the economy and sold off, wiping out the big gains from a day earlier and then some. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 519.83 points.
The selling was intensified by worries about debt problems in Europe.
On Tuesday, the Federal Reserve said it planned to keep interest rates ultra-low for two more years. After some initial confusion, the stock market staged a huge comeback and had one of its best days.

Obama to Vacation on Wealthy Island Retreat
WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama will vacation with his family in Martha's Vineyard, an island off the coast of the eastern state of Massachusetts, at the end of this month as he has done in years past, the White House said Wednesday, despite the weak economy and negotiations on the U.S. debt problem.
Press secretary Jay Carney defended Obama's plans to take a break even as he has pledged urgent action on those issues.
"I don't think Americans out there would begrudge that notion that the president would spend some time with his family," Carney said

The Pa legislature is going to have its first hearing ever on a Right to Work package of legislation (House Bills 50-53). It will be held on Tuesday, August 16 from 1-4 p.m. in room 205 of the Ryan Office Building. There is no doubt that the unions will be out in force to try to intimidate members of the Labor committee. If you can get out to the hearing that would be great, please let as many people know about it as possible so members know that the grassroots support Right to Work.

Some of us would like to sit in on this hearing because - ·Warren Kampf serves on the House Labor Cmte and ·our presence might counter the expected labor union presence! Sean Dempsey, Warren's district office manager, listed the individual bills: HB 50 - Establishes a Right to Work law. HB 51 - Establishes that Union Dues can not be automatically deducted from payroll HB 52 - very similar to HB 51 in spirit HB 53 - very similar again to HB 51 He said that "Generally Warren is for leveling the playing field for job creators and that is what these bills aim to do". 1. The RedState Gathering 2011, Charleston, SC
Please find below the final agenda for the RedState Gathering. Please note that Governor Perry's address has been moved back to 1:00 p.m. from 1:30 p.m.
We will have 397 registered attendees from just about every state in the union and a total of approximately 550 attendees present for Governor Rick Perry's speech.
To conclude the RedState Gathering, we will have a special presentation of Stephen K. Bannon's The Undefeated.
For those of you unfamiliar with the format of the RedState Gathering, all speakers pay their own way and make their own travel arrangements. In other words, if they are speaking, it is because they want to be there. We do not pay honoraria to speakers. This keeps the cost low to attendees and guarantees that those participating want to be there.
With the exception of each year's keynote speaker, those who address the event are expected to also take questions from the registered attendees. Panel participants will likewise take questions.
This is our third RedState Gathering and it will be the largest crowd so far. At the end of the event, we will announce where next year's Gathering will take place.
2. GOP Picks for Super Duper Committee Won't Make a Difference
Well, the much anticipated picks for the debt deal Super Committee have been announced. There will be much ink spilled over who was chosen and who was rejected. However, the salient point is not the orientation of the committee, but the entire premise behind the committee itself.
Many conservatives will laud the choice of Pat Toomey for the committee; others will decry the pick of light bulb ban man, Fred Upton. The reality is that none of this matters.
The Democrats have picked three radical leftists in the Senate, and are expected to follow suit with their House picks. There is no way that Democrats on the committee will ever support meaningful spending cuts, repeal of Obamacare, or entitlement reform. Harry Reid made sure to keep the likes of Kent Conrad and Mark Warner - senators, who have expressed some support for minor entitlement reforms - off the committee.
3. Obama's Problem According To Maureen Dowd: No Villains
There's been much ink spilled by leftists trying to explain President Obama's failure as leader. Maureen Dowd concludes her latest attempt to explain Obama.
4. Government Motors Spends Your Money
Yes, General Motors. A great example of Obama's efforts to revitalize our economy. He bravely handed a failing industry billions of dollars of other people's money and then planted political friends in high positions while paying off the unions with shares of the company.
As recently as May of this year, people like Jen Psaki, White House Deputy Communications Director, and Vice President Joe Biden, can be found praising the auto bailouts as the crown jewel of this administrations efforts.
5. Keystone XL Pipeline: Bureaucratic Hacky-Sack
The Obama Administration continues to play bureaucratic hacky-sack with what could be a key element of our nation's secure energy future: the Keystone XL pipeline project. The new line would increase the export capacity of the Keystone Pipeline (placed in service 2008) by 700,000 barrels of Canadian oil-sands oil per day. The expansion would also facilitate the domestic movement of crude from the key storage hub at Cushing, OK to the large refinery complexes on the Gulf Coast.
Keystone owner TransCanada is willing to take on this massive construction project on its own dime (or rather, its own $7 billion). It needs permission from the U.S. EPA and the State Department, which has jurisdiction due to the international scope of the project. The pipeline should have been under construction by now, were it not for Administration foot-dragging.

SAVING MEDICARE
Since 1964, our nation's senior citizens have relied on Medicare to ensure access to healthcare. Now the program is going broke -- and it is going broke fast.
It began spending its reserves in 2008 when payouts exceeded dollars collected for the program. [cite]
Predictions for exhaustion of the reserve vary, with 2024 identified by the Social Security Administration in the Trustees 2011 report. [cite]
The Democrat response is to reduce the amount Medicare reimburses physicians for their services. [cite]
This will result in fewer participating physicians and the physicians continuing in the program seeing fewer Medicare patients.
Patients will wait longer and have fewer choices in seeing a doctor.
If this makes access to care sufficiently untenable, or if Medicare does not get on viable financial footing, it will be administered through ObamaCare[cite].
This would include cost controls by a 15-member board of bureaucrats deciding wich treatments, drugs, and surgeries patients can receive.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, has a plan which saves Medicare with no disruption to today's seniors and reasonable changes for future retirees.
The Ryan Plan is widely misunderstood and misrepresented. The future of our seniors' healthcare is too important to be decided on misinformation. Here are the facts about Medicare and the Ryan Plan.
The Ryan Plan in a Nutshell
Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. Risk pools [cite] will be created to ensure that insurance companies will provide coverage to seniors, despite their generally higher use of medical care.
The result is retirees will have a system that gives them options, similar to that which members of Congress use and which will include options similar to Medicare Advantage, the popular plan eliminated by Obamacare. [cite]
The Ryan Plan Incorporates These Important Points

The medicare system is running out of money. Change is coming, one way or another.

Patients are finding that their physician is no longer a Medicare provider and when they look for another physician it is increasingly difficult for them to find a Medicare provider who is accepting new patients and can see them in a reasonable time. Al-Sadr warns US forces to leave Iraq

BAGHDAD - A powerful anti-American Shiite cleric called Tuesday on U.S. troops in Iraq to leave the country and go back to their families or risk more attacks.
Muqtada al-Sadr's comments came in a rare statement translated into English and directed at U.S. troops in Iraq. The statement was posted on his website.
In it, the Shiite cleric appealed directly to the roughly 46,000 U.S. troops still in the country and said Iraq does not need their help.
"So, go forth from our holy land and go back to your families who are waiting for you impatiently," al-Sadr said. The comment appeared to be a nod to the unpopularity of the Iraq war in the U.S. where many people are frustrated with the length of the war and the heavy burden it has put on American troops.
Iraqi officials are mulling whether to keep some U.S. troops past their December departure date. But they're worried about a potential backlash if the U.S. military remains in the country.

Homeland Security: The White House seems to think the best way to get Muslims to help root out terrorists in their communities is with more "social services."
That's the long and short of the administration's new strategy to counter "radicalization" outlined in an eight-page paper recently released by the White House.
Signed by President Obama, the document presumes that Muslims living in America are mostly downtrodden and may be driven to terror out of a "sense of disenfranchisement."
Therefore, the government must work harder to "provide social services" for them - including "jobs, education, health care and civil rights" - to "prevent radicalization that leads to violence."

I have been wondering about this for quite a while. Every time I look up something negative on Obama it says it is not true. Some of the simple stuff comes out 50/50, but not on the "O". I always try to not get taken in by the written word, but it is hard to do. Seems if someone writes it we think it is true.

Investors and markets -- not any single company's rating -- are the ultimate judge of a nation's creditworthiness. And after their performance in fanning the credit and mortgage-security mania of the last decade, S&P, Moody's and Fitch should hardly be seen as peerless oracles. Their views are best understood as financial opinions, like newspaper editorials, and they're only considered more important because U.S. government agencies have required purchasers of securities to use their ratings. ... Yet is there anything that S&P said on Friday that everyone else doesn't already know? S&P essentially declared that on present trend the U.S. debt burden is unsustainable, and that the American political system seems unable to reverse that trend. This is not news. ... Despite S&P's opinion, there is no chance that America will default on its debts. The real importance of the downgrade will depend on the political reaction it inspires. It was probably the cottage cheese protests that gave the left an idea about how to regain a fraction of relevance. The notion was simple enough, shift away from the pro-terrorist protests and union strikes to a cost of living protest movement. The Israeli left still commands international funding and attention, but it lacks domestic political representation. The Labor party is on its deathbed and the radical left has no hope of gaining anything beyond the usual handful of mandates. That leaves Kadima, the non-party created by corruptocrats, Sharon and Olmert. Unsurprisingly for a party that only existed to ratify the personal power of its leaders, it has no real ideology.

Six Republican state senators who had backed Governor Scott Walker's controversial legislation to limit collective bargaining rights were on the ballot fighting recall elections instigated by Big Labor. The unions poured millions of dollars into these races. Thousands of volunteers were mobilized. The media, local and national, were beating the drums of war. This was to be the moment when the left drove a stake through the heart of the Tea Party movement. Democrats needed to pick up three seats to retake control of the state Senate. They chose their targets carefully, and they were fighting on friendly ground. Obama carried Wisconsin by 14 points in 2008. On MSNBC's "Hardball" show last night, Ed Schultz, reporting live from Madison, declared:
"It's Ground Zero, Chris, for labor unions in this country. ...I mean if they can't do it here, where are they going to do it? It's almost as if the unions have come in here from all over the country, saying, 'If we can't win Wisconsin, how influential are we going to be?' ...It's also a referendum on just how important the issues are to the middle class of this country."
Like many liberal activists, Schultz went to bed last night sorely disappointed. Democrats won only two races, one of which was a very narrow 51%-to-49% victory. Meanwhile, the four Republican state senators who survived won with an average of 56% of the vote. Next week two Democrat state senators who fled the state to prevent the Senate from voting will face recall elections for their dereliction of duty. This was a surprising victory for conservatives, the Tea Party and Governor Walker. It shows that middle-class voters care deeply about the issues. They have, as they did in 2010, rejected the left's Big Government, high taxes, more spending arguments. Many liberals have suggested, as Chris Matthews did last night, that these recall elections were the first battles of 2012. I think he's right. And I think Wisconsin, a state Obama easily won in 2008, is likely to be in play next year. Super Committee Takes Shape Republican congressional leaders this morning announced their appointments to the deficit reduction "super committee." Speaker John Boehner appointed Representatives Dave Camp (R-MI), Fred Upton (R-MI) and Jeb Hensarling (R-TX). Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell named Senators Jon Kyl (R-AZ), Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Rob Portman (R-OH). Kyl and Hensarling are members of the GOP leadership teams in their respective chambers. Camp is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, which writes the nation's tax laws. Upton is chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Of the six GOP appointments, Toomey is most closely associated with the Tea Party movement. Prior to his election last year, he served as president of the fiscally conservative group Club for Growth. Portman served as President Bush's budget director. Yesterday evening, Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid announced his appointments: Senators Max Baucus (D-MT), John Kerry (D-MA) and Patty Murray (D-WA). Baucus is chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, the Senate counterpart to Rep. Dave Camp. The appointments of Baucus and Camp suggest that congressional leaders may be looking to the super committee to produce a tax reform plan. It was also Baucus' Finance Committee that gave us ObamaCare, the Democrats' socialized medicine scheme. Baucus has shown little interest in reforming entitlement spending, and was dismissive of Rep. Paul Ryan's budget, saying "Not on my watch." John Kerry made headlines this weekend for labeling S&P's decision to downgrade U.S. bonds a "Tea Party downgrade." No one expects the senior senator from Massachusetts and the 2004 Democrat presidential nominee to do anything but toe the liberal line. Even the Washington Post acknowledged that Kerry's "selection could help appease liberals." It would be foolish to assume that members of the super committee won't be thinking politically. But there is little doubt that politics is all Murray will be thinking about. Murray is chairwoman of the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee. It is her responsibility to help elect Democrats to the United States Senate. One liberal blogger recently reported that Murray was outraged when Obama initially suggested Medicare should be on the table in the deficit reduction talks. Murray was unwilling to give up the Democrats' "Mediscare" advantage. As of this writing, House Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi has not announced her selections to the super committee. But I wouldn't be surprised if she chose Barney Frank, Maxine Waters and Dennis Kucinich. The Consequences Of Class Warfare To say the images coming out of England are disturbing would be an understatement. Burning buildings, rioting kids and innocent bystanders being forced to strip in the streets are all evidence of a "sick society," as Prime Minister David Cameron rightly stated. Reading the news and commentary, two factors immediately emerge: race and rhetoric. Not all, but much of the rioting is being done by ethnic minorities. Like many European nations, England has had a very liberal immigration policy. Thanks to political correctness, which is more rampant there than it is here, many recent immigrants are not assimilating. Many are in Britain to enjoy the benefits of the liberal welfare state, but take no pride in being British. The left's rhetoric is driving the rioters and looters. Two young women who took part in the mayhem told the BBC that they were excited by the rioting and hoped it would continue because they were showing "the rich, people with businesses" and the police that "We can do what we want." I can almost hear the chants of "Yes We Can!" Liberal commentators are always quick to warn conservatives that "words have consequences." With no evidence at all, Bill Clinton blamed Rush Limbaugh and "hate radio" for the Oklahoma City bombing. Dr. James Dobson was blamed for the death of Matthew Shephard. The Tea Party was blamed for the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. But left-wing class warfare rhetoric has consequences too. As we are seeing in England, a generation that has been raised to believe that society owes it everything will quickly turn on that society when it fails to meet expectations. It can happen here in America too. In fact, it appears to be happening more and more frequently with these so-called "flash mobs" -- youths running into businesses and stealing merchandise or simply attacking people at random. It has gotten so bad in Philadelphia that Mayor Michael Nutter has imposed a 9:00 PM curfew on the weekends for teenagers. To his credit, Mayor Nutter chastised young blacks, saying, "You've damaged yourself, you've damaged another person, you've damaged your peers and, quite honestly, you've damaged your own race." Parents weren't spared either. "Parents who neglect their children, who don't know where they are, who don't know what they're doing, who don't know who they're hanging out with, you're going to find yourself spending some quality time with your kids in jail." The mayor is right. There is no government program, no amount of taxpayer money, that can make up for the breakdown of the family. But as these flash mobs become more common and more violent, one has to wonder why President Obama has remained silent for so long and whether he will reconsider his own rhetoric.

The liberal political machine was in full throttle. Millions of dollars in campaign ads streamed on TV. An army of union workers descended on the state in a massive grassroots voter mobilization effort. But when the dust settled, the smoke cleared, and the votes were counted, the conservative majority that swept into Wisconsin last November remained intact last night despite an unprecedented recall effort designed to bring an end to Governor Scott Walker's reforms.
Yesterday in Wisconsin, Democrats tried to recall six GOP senators in an attempt to gain a foothold in the state's legislature-they lost in four of the races, failing to regain a majority in the state senate. Those losses came despite a $14 million effort waged by unions and liberal groups from across the country, including the AFL-CIO, UAW, AFSCME, MoveOn.org, Teamsters, UFCW, NEA, SEIU, and People for the American Way. Optometrists and ophthalmologists aren't seeing eye to eye these days on the proper role of government. So contentious is the issue that divides them, in fact, that West Virginia legislator Don Perdue says he spent 16 hours locked in his office "trying to keep (them) from clawing each others' eyeballs out."
The focus of their ire is H.R. 451, the so-called Healthcare Truth and Transparency Act of 2011-the title of which, like a great deal of federal legislation, masks malignant intentions as benign. Introduced in January by Representative John Sullivan (R-OK) on behalf of ophthalmologists, the bill would force "health care services" (by which Sullivan means "optometrists") to disclose in all advertising their licensing status and empower the Federal Trade Commission to police them.

What the GOP Victory in Wisconsin Means
With six Republican state Senators facing recall elections in Wisconsin, the Democrats needed only three to take control of the state's Senate. That control would not have been sufficient to overturn Gov. Walker's government union benefit reforms, but would have become become a symbol of resurgent union power. Union/Democrat victory in Wisconsin would have become a basis for mounting recalls against Republicans in Ohio, Indiana and perhaps elsewhere. The perpetual campaign would have become truly perpetual, with recalls popping everywhere the unions thought they had any chance of winning.
But the Democrats failed. Of the six seats up for grabs, they only captured two, and despite the massive money backing the Democrats, the GOP holds the state Senate. And one of those two recall races that the Democrats won involved a GOP incumbent who had become mired in personal scandal, so the Democratic victory there doesn't say much at all about the reforms that are at the center of the recall effort. The four GOP victories speak volumes.

New Obamacare violations of personal liberty

Who can forget that rare moment of honesty during the campaign to pass Obamacare when Nancy Pelosi said "We have to pass the bill in order for you to find out what's in it"?
Now we have it and almost daily there are new revelations about the staggering extent to which our private lives and individual freedoms have been stomped on.
We learn now that free birth control in the form of contraceptives, morning after pills, and sterilization is part of the grand Obamacare socialist dream-come-true.
The health insurance that Obamacare mandates that all employers provide and that all citizens acquire must pay 100 percent for these birth control products and services, with no deductible or co-pays. Birth control gets more preferential treatment than cancer or heart disease.
Liberals say government should be kept out of your bedroom. What they mean by this is that it shouldn't interfere with what you do there, not that it shouldn't force taxpayers to pay for it.

The "Tea Party Downgrade" slander cannot stand.

I apparently don't understand the superior "logic" of leftists and Democrats.
Let's set up what transpired during and immediately after the debt-ceiling dramatics of the past few weeks.
There have been six primary players:
1. President Barack Obama.
2. Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
3. Unhinged leftists, whose primary goal is headlong expansion of the welfare state and stifling the dissent of anyone who opposes it.
4. Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner.
5. Tea Party activists, whose primary goals are constitutional adherence, fiscal sanity, and a better world for current and future generations.
6. The ratings agency people at Standard & Poor's (S&P), who entered the fray after the legislative dust had settled.
President Obama's role consisted of utterly failing to present a plan, pretending that the unsustainable wreckage he presented in February was still a viable plan (even though the U.S. Senate voted it down by a shocking 97-0), and insisting on a "balanced approach." Translated into harsh experience, a "balanced approach" is defined as: "I get new taxes now for promised cuts later which never materialize," or in short form: "Business as usual."

Those of you following the barbaric rioting in Britain will not have failed to notice that a sizable proportion of the thugs are white, something not often seen in this country.
Not only that, but in a triumph of feminism, a lot of them are girls. Even the "disabled" (according to the British benefits system) seem to have miraculously overcome their infirmities to dash out and steal a few TVs.
Congratulations, Britain! You've barbarized your citizenry, without regard to race, gender or physical handicap!
With a welfare system far more advanced than the United States, the British have achieved the remarkable result of turning entire communities of ancestral British people into tattooed, drunken brutes.
I guess we now have the proof of what conservatives have been saying since forever: Looting is a result of liberal welfare policies...

A few weeks after the U.S. city of Detroit was ravaged by 1967 race riots in which 43 people died, I was shown around the wrecked areas by a black reporter named Joe Strickland.
He said: 'Don't you believe all that stuff people here are giving media folk about how sorry they are about what happened. When they talk to each other, they say "It was a great fire, man!"'
I am sure that is what many of the young rioters, black and white, who have burned and looted in England through the past few shocking nights think today.

London on Fire: Thousands of Police Deployed to Stop British Riots
Britain will not allow a culture of fear to take over the streets, Prime Minister David Cameron insisted Wednesday after a night of relative calm in London, saying police have drawn up contingency plans to use water cannons if necessary.
"We will do whatever is necessary to restore law and order onto our streets," Cameron said in a somber televised statement. "Nothing is off the table."
Cameron has already recalled Parliament from its summer recess for an emergency debate on the riots Thursday.
Thousands of extra police officers on the streets kept a nervous London quiet Tuesday night after three nights of rioting, but looting flared in Manchester and Birmingham, where a murder probe was opened when three men were killed after being hit by a car.

Democrats Murray, Baucus, Kerry on super committee
Reid sends the hardcore libs to the panel
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., will appoint Democratic Sens. Patty Murray of Washington, Max Baucus of Montana and John Kerry of Massachusetts to the new "super committee" tasked with finding $1.2 trillion in additional deficit reduction by Nov. 23, Reid announced Tuesday.
Additionally, Murray is expected to co-chair the committee, officially named the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, along with a still unnamed House Republican. A spokesman for Reid did not respond to a request for comment.

London is reeling from three nights of rioting that's poured hundreds of people into the streets, leaving several local neighborhoods in shambles. One man is dead, dozens injured and arrested.
The protests have now spread to other cities, with violence reported in parts of Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol.

President Obama's campaign plan: Destroy Romney
"Destroy"
President Obama's camp has leaked its campaign strategy, and it appears the president will launch "a ferocious personal assault on Mitt Romney's character and business background, a strategy grounded in the early stage expectation that the former Massachusetts governor is the likely GOP nominee," according to a piece by Politico's Ben Smith and Jonathan Martin posted online Tuesday.
The Obama campaign has even looked to George Bush's campaign against Sen. John Kerry for tips on how incumbents with mediocre polling numbers can get re-elected, the piece said.

Boehner, McConnell announce picks for 'supercommittee'  | The GOP has announced its picks for the powerful "supercommittee" established to find $1.5 trillion in deficit cuts. John Boehner has appointed Dave Camp (Mich.), Fred Upton (Mich.) and Jeb Hensarling (Texas). Hensarling will serve as the co-chairman of the supercomittee. Mitch McConnell appointed his deputy, Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Rob Portman (Ohio), and Pat Toomey (Penn.). The two leaders took different approaches to their selections. McConnell appointed two freshman senators, Portman and Toomey. Boehner selected all veteran lawmakers. The six picked for the supercommittee have all vowed to oppose tax increases. The supercommittee must be appointed by Aug. 16 and must vote on a plan by Nov. 23. That plan will receive an up-or-down vote by Christmas in both chambers. Don't Blame the Tea Party  | The Obama administration is attempting to blame the Tea Party for Standard & Poor's downgrade of the government's credit rating. The accusation is false. S&P said "the fiscal consolidation plan that Congress and the administration agreed to falls short of the amount that we believe is necessary to stabilize the general government debt burden by the middle of the decade." In other words - the debt ceiling compromise didn't go far enough. The Tea Party has argued all along that now is the time to rein in out-of-control spending and get the government on a path toward long-term fiscal responsibility. GOP keeps control of Wisconsin Senate  | Republicans held onto control of the Wisconsin Senate, beating four Democratic challengers in a recall election. The attempt to remove GOP incumbents is a referendum on Walker's conservative revolution and demonstrates the public mood . The stakes in Wisconsin were clearly much larger than control of the Senate. Both parties were testing messages for the 2012 presidential race, in which Wisconsin is an important swing state. The Legislature that had been approving Republican-backed bills in rapid succession would likely have ground to a halt if Democrats had won back the Senate. Tea Party 'Hobbits' ask 'Are You Going to Apologize?'  | Whether you are quoting someone else or not, there are probably some things you should not say on the Senate floor, especially if they are about constituents who have supported you in the past. Sen. McCain said he is not going to give an apology for something he describes as "the facts." Things didn't get any easier for Sen. McCain when he tried to move the conversation away from the recent debt negotiations. McCain showed he didn't have all the answers and blamed the democrats for the problems the country is facing. Al Gore was caught on tape in a profanity laced tirade claiming anti-warming scientists are 'paid for' and not real. And disturbing audio coming from a United States Congresswoman who seems to indicate it's their goal to get people protesting in the streets.
