Update On The Fight to Stop Agenda 21
Message from APC President, Tom DeWeese: Hello Linda, The eighth community, Plantation, Florida has just voted to not renew its ICLEI contract. That's eight communities in eight months, and many more are working to be next. Plantation is added to the growing list that includes Carroll County, MD; Montgomery County, PA; Amador County, CA; Edmond, OK; Las Cruces, NM; Spartanburg, SC; and Albemarle, VA. This is wonderful, positive news, indicating that more and more elected officials are starting to listen to our arguments. However, as we move forward in more and more communities, I am getting messages from local activists who are alarmed with actions in their communities after they have removed ICLEI. Apparently many have misunderstood the battle, thinking that ousting ICLEI is the FINAL victory to defeat Agenda 21 in their community. It isn't - it is only the first blow. Now, you must begin to dismantle the policies ICLEI helped to create. Another detail I want to make clear. We targeted ICLEI because it has a clear UN connection, making it much easier to expose it. But ICLEI is only one group promoting the agenda. And it might not even be the most powerful. We are learning that the American Planning Association (APA) may be a much more dangerous foe, in that it is not recognized to have UN connections, rather it is accepted as a legitimate planning group with ties to literally every local and state government. Finally, so many activists are running to their elected officials, accusing them of enforcing UN policy. While certainly technically true, it is a sure fire way to be ignored and laughed at. I suggest the following approach instead: Before making any overt efforts, do your research on the policies being suggested in City Council and determining what the result of such policy will be - who are the victims of it and how will them be affected? Those victims are prime candidates to be new recruits for your campaign. After you have taken those steps to understand exactly who and what you are dealing with, then take it to City Council. Argue your position from one of strength as opposition to the policy, rather than open yourself up to ridicule over the UN issues. Of course it is UN policy and we can prove it, but what matters at this point is to stop it. Get the people of the town on your side and put the elected officials on the defensive instead of you. From that point you can add to your position by exposing the special interest groups behind the policy. I will have a detailed report on this and other issues in the September issue of my newsletter, The DeWeese Report. I will also have two articles that are my rebuttals to personal attacks against me -- one from a college president challenging my recent speech in Lincoln, Nebraska on Agenda 21. WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon got nearly everything it asked for during a decade of two wars shadowed by the Sept. 11 terror attacks and the rise of Al Qaeda. No more.
It's a reality that new Defense Secretary Leon Panetta acknowledged Thursday, saying he "recognizes the Department of Defense has to do its part" to meet the public clamor for spending cuts.
Reflecting the widespread demand for fiscal austerity, the compromise debt deal struck by President Obama and congressional leaders this week will slice $350 billion from projected military spending over the next 10 years, and it leaves open the possibility of up to $500 billion in additional reductions.
The prospect of nearly $1 trillion in cuts unnerves military leaders, troubles members of Congress protective of the Pentagon and has touched off a scramble in the defense industry as contractors look to spare their multibillion-dollar weapons programs.

Residents and parents protest, yet the School Board approves the new position without a single dissenting vote.
The U46 School District in Elgin, Illinois is the second largest school system in the state and U46 has dealt with the same financial strain facing many districts around the country. Budgets have been cut to the bone, programs like physical education and art have been eliminated, but that did not prevent the school board from hiring Ushma Shah as "Chief of Equity & Social Justice," at a cost of $120,000 a year (plus another $12,450 in benefits).

As many of you know, one of our hometown heroes, U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Kenneth Elwell of Northampton, died in Afghanistan recently and his funeral is will be held this Sunday in Newtown, Bucks County.
The notorious Westboro Baptist Church, which makes a practice of disrupting the funerals of our Nation's fallen warriors, may be staging a protest.
Many are planning to attend the funeral to raise the American Flag in honor of our fallen warrior and to shield the family from the extremists should they arrive. Our own Audrey Strein has volunteered to organize the assembly, she may be reached at audreys110@yahoo.com.
I am actually in Boston this weekend with my Army Reserve unit otherwise I would be there.

NEW YORK, July 6: The human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) will be hosting its second annual 9/11 Freedom Rally on September 11 at 3pm at Park Place and West Broadway.
Free citizens are coming from all over the U.S. to attend the rally. "It is crucial to stand for freedom on this tenth anniversary of the heinous 9/11 jihad attacks," said AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller. "We must show the jihadists we are unbowed in the defense of freedom."
AFDI and its Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) program are encouraging all Americans to stand against the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero and the anti-Semitic Durban III conference that will be held in New York City at the same time, and for American values on the tenth anniversary of the worst attack ever on American soil.

Many of us went to the Restoring Honor event last year and we were deeply moved by the day's events. Being with others we know made this even more special. Although we are not going to travel to Israel, we are hoping that we can recreate that atmosphere here in Bucks County. The Pa legislature is going to have its first hearing ever on a Right to Work package of legislation (House Bills 50-53). It will be held on Tuesday, August 16 from 1-4 p.m. in room 205 of the Ryan Office Building. There is no doubt that the unions will be out in force to try to intimidate members of the Labor committee. If you can get out to the hearing that would be great, please let as many people know about it as possible so members know that the grassroots support Right to Work.

Some of us would like to sit in on this hearing because - ·Warren Kampf serves on the House Labor Cmte and ·our presence might counter the expected labor union presence!
Sean Dempsey, Warren's district office manager, listed the individual bills: HB 50 - Establishes a Right to Work law. HB 51 - Establishes that Union Dues can not be automatically deducted from payroll HB 52 - very similar to HB 51 in spirit HB 53 - very similar again to HB 51 He said that "Generally Warren is for leveling the playing field for job creators and that is what these bills aim to do". CONSTITUTION GROUP BRINGING "LIBERTY BREAKFAST" TO CHESTER COUNTY
(Lebanon, PA) - The Constitutional Organization Of Liberty (COOL), a conservative, non-partisan educational organization, has announced it will be hosting a "Liberty Breakfast" in Downingtown on Saturday, August 6.
Mark Thomas of Cornwall, Chairman of COOL, said that the five-year old organization has arranged for the morning function at the Old Country Buffet, beginning at 8:30 AM.
"We're very excited about bringing our breakfast to Chester County," Thomas said. "We have hosted courses and functions throughout central Pennsylvania but this is the first one we have held in Chester County."
Thomas said that the Liberty Breakfasts are new for 2011 as they found a number of individuals were interested in gaining additional knowledge about the Constitution but were not able to commit to long term coursework.
"After the successful classes we had last year, COOL's Board went ahead and approved the use of the breakfast model in order to broaden our access and appeal to the different locations we think would be receptive to our courses and educational approach," he said.
Carris Kocher, of the Bill of Rights Bicentennial Committee, which, along with Chester County ACTION, is hosting the breakfast, said she personally made arrangements for the breakfast in Downingtown and is looking for a strong turnout.
"This area has a large number of deeply convicted individuals when it comes to the Constitution and how the law should be applied," Kocher said. "I really felt the time had come to start combining COOL's strong educational expertise with the conservative activists in the area."
Kocher also noted that since 2011 is the 275th anniversary of Patrick Henry's birth, the breakfast will include a musical tribute to Patrick Henry by Charlie Zahm of Philadelphia,
"Charlie is an outstanding musician with a wealth of musical talent and historical knowledge," Kocher said. "He is popular at Maritime, Early American and Celtic festivals, and his rich voice is matched only by his masterful guitar playing."
"Having this tribute to Patrick Henry at this event seemed fitting," Kocher said, "as, without Patrick Henry, there would be no Bill of Rights and no First Amendment."
State Senator Mike Folmer (R-48th), who serves as a Board member for COOL, attended the first Liberty Breakfast in Palmyra and said he was very pleased with the function.
"I enjoyed the fact that the breakfast allows participants to gain additional knowledge about the Constitution and our Founding documents without feeling pressured to stick to a long term schedule," Folmer said. "And for an elected official like myself it is a great time to just catch up with local constituents without having to worry about being the center of attention."
"Anyone who attends these breakfasts comes out learning something," he said.
The topic for the Liberty Breakfast scheduled for August 6 will be "The First Amendment" and will feature both a review of the Amendment as well as an open discussion of the critical aspects of it.
The meeting room at the Old Country Buffet has been reserved and breakfast will be served ala carte whereby participants will order and pay for their own meals. After the meal, the forum will begin, and there is no charge to participate, although donations will be solicited.

Despite being dispirited by the one-sided nature of the debt ceiling deal, most of us were looking forward to reaping the rewards from its only ancillary benefit; the impending stock market rally. Much to our chagrin, the Dow dropped precipitously, losing over 800 points since the opening bell on Monday. After the initial euphoria from the debt ceiling hangover began to subside, people have been forced to confront an inconvenient reality. The problem with the economy is not the debt ceiling; it is the debt - and all that it represents; overbearing and job-killing government.
Late Sunday night, Republican leaders forged a bipartisan deal with the president to raise the debt ceiling another $2.4 trillion without any preconditions for the second tranche. Despite pretentious claims that we were entering a new era of austerity, the debt deal has charted us on a trajectory to incur $7.8 trillion more in debt, even considering the unrealistic baseline projections of economic growth and revenue.
Well, the Treasury wasted no time utilizing its new credit card and devouring the spoils like the starved beast that it has been for the past few months. On Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner issued $239 billion in new debt, almost 60% of the entire $400 billion increase in borrowing authority that Congress granted for the first round of the debt limit hike. To put that in perspective with the "austerity side of the debt deal," it will take 4.5 years to achieve a commensurate degree of savings from the discretionary caps imposed in the bill. I guess that is one way of measuring dollar-for-dollar cuts.
Our total cumulative debt (including the intragovernmental share) now stands at $14.58 trillion, approaching 100% of out GDP for the first time. We have joined the failed socialist experiments of Europe in this ominous distinction.

I reported recently on EPA rules that ran the risk of causing shut downs of plants in Texas and elsewhere. But that was before the massive heatwave began putting the real strain on them. So much so that they are almost at full capacity. And unfortunately, the EPA is only tightening it's grip.
3. Uh Oh! The Progressives Have Figured Out How The Tea Parties Took Over the GOP...
Wow! It's really flattering that radio talk-show host Thom Hartmann is attributing the Concord Project with the Tea Party taking over the GOP. The fact is, though, the GOP is still filled with those who would compromise the Constitution and bankrupt our country. Taking over the GOP has barely begun and, more importantly, the Tea Party (and other conservative activists) taking over the GOP involves many more people, groups, and organizations than the Concord Project.
Nevertheless, if Thom Hartmann wants to give some credit to the Concord Project for the strategy to take over the GOP, as long as it gets you to really know how important precinct activism is, so be it. More importantly, if progressives understanding the strategy and doing it themselves, get you motivated to get involved, even better.
4. Chevy Volt's Loss is GM's Gain?
I've written about General Motor's CEO Dan Akerson before, but for those who don't remember, he was appointed to the board of directors by President Obama to represent the administration. He's also been a big proponent of the gas tax which he believes will increase the cost of car ownership just enough to get America off of foreign oil by forcing us to choose crappy cars that use less fuel.
As though the fates are trying to prove to Akerson that a gas tax is the only way Americans will ever buy into their green dreams, the Chevy Volt has crossed over into the realm of abysmal failure (one step above abject failure).

Those currently retired and those close to retirement (55 and over) will see no change from the existing Medicare system. Existing physician reimbursement flaws will be corrected to encourage physicians to continue participating in the system.[cite]
On retirement, those currently under 55 will be provided vouchers from the government to help pay for health insurance. Voucher amounts will be based in part on income, with wealthier individuals receiving less assistance. WASHINGTON - The Obama administration's new strategy to fight the threat of al-Qaida and other violent radicals in the U.S. is short on details and fails to name a single point of coordination for all of the various initiatives at the federal and local levels, said lawmakers who have asked the government for years to develop a plan for the homegrown terror threat.
After more than two years of high-level meetings, the White House released an eight-page document Wednesday that broadly describes a strategy, mostly of initiatives already under way to prevent violent ideologically inspired attacks like the deadly 2009 shootings at an Arkansas military recruiting center and at the Holocaust museum in Washington.

US debt shot up $238 billion to reach 100 percent of gross domestic project after the government's debt ceiling was lifted, Treasury figures showed Wednesday.

The Next American Revolution
What is the Authority for Rebellion?

(PUBLISHER'S WARNING: The following essay may cause heartburn and knee-jerk reactions, especially in those who are predisposed to "give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety." But as Benjamin Franklin concluded, they "deserve neither liberty nor safety." For such feeble souls, Samuel Adams advised, "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!" For those who are not cast among that faint-hearted lot, please read on.)
I receive hundreds of messages every day from Patriots across the nation. For the last three years, one thematic question has emerged with ever-increasing frequency. To paraphrase that question: "What is the authority to rebel against the central government?"
That question is most often asked by those who have taken their oath of allegiance to our Constitution, particularly active duty, reserve and veteran military personnel. Typical is this note from a disabled combat Patriot this week: "Please clarify for me when my solemn oath to 'support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign AND [his emphasis] domestic,' kicks in."
Such questions were once considered too radical and discordant for consideration in civil discourse. However, as Rule of Law enshrined in our Constitution has been all but completely usurped by the rule of men through the Left's so-called living constitution, the frequency and tenor of questions about the future of Essential Liberty for our once-great Republic is propelling them into mainstream debate.
The unfortunate ascension of Barack Hussein Obama and his socialist cadres had a silver lining: It revitalized the spirit of American Patriotism in dozens of millions of our countrymen. The imminent threat to Liberty posed by Democratic Socialism is the catalyst driving this great awakening and it is spreading.
To the question of the authority to rebel against government, we turn to the Constitution's guiding document, our Declaration of Independence. It clearly affirms the "unalienable rights" upon which our Constitution was instituted, and those rights supersede the authority of the Constitution itself as they are the inherent rights of man.
This authorizing language reads as follows: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government..."
So, is it time for another American Revolution?

The answer to that question depends upon the answer to a more fundamental question: Is it too late to restore authority of our Constitution? Moreover, will the current dire circumstances result in a sunset or sunrise on Liberty?
In my enthusiastic analysis, the degraded state of the union presents a great opportunity for restoration of Rule of Law, and this sunrise on Liberty is already in progress under the broad heading of the Tea Party movement. Further, having been in close proximity to revolutions on foreign soil, I am intimately aware that restoration (or revolution without shots fired) is a far more desirable path than the violent one -- not that the latter must ever be excluded as an option.
But behind every sunrise is a sunset. As Ronald Reagan warned thirty years ago, when the "Reagan Revolution" temporarily restored our nation's course toward Liberty, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States when men were free."
Make no mistake; there are formidable obstacles to the restoration of Liberty. The most daunting of these impediments is complacency, the result of either a false sense of comfort, institutionalized ignorance or both. Nonetheless, I still believe that the ballot box is a viable alternative to the bullet box at this juncture. Every effort to work within what remains of our Constitution's framework to restore its Rule of Law, as outlined in The Patriot Declaration must be exhausted.
If the 2012 election cycle does not provide sufficient momentum toward the goal of restored Liberty, there are substantial measures of civil disobedience that can ratchet up the pressure -- measures which will find support among true conservatives in both the House and Senate.

Either way, we face a long, uphill battle. It has taken many years to degrade Rule of Law, and it will take many years to fully restore it.
As for timing, Obama has already dropped a debt bomb on our economy, the goal of which is to "fundamentally transform the United States of America." The greatest systemic risk to Liberty that this act of economic violence poses is the destruction of free enterprise by way of taxation, regulation and insurmountable debt. U.S. debt has now surpassed 100 percent of our annual gross domestic product (economic output).
It should, of course, be the highest aspiration of every Patriot to restore our Constitution's Rule of Law, a fundamental principle of which is the separation of economy and state. But is there still time, and are we sufficiently resolute?
Leading the forces arrayed against us are the statist extremists, the "useful idiots" on the Left who now vilify as "terrorists" those seeking to restore Rule of Law.
In a closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting this week hosted by Veep Joe Biden, Demo Rep. Mike Doyle said of the recent budget negotiations, "We have negotiated with terrorists. This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money." Biden, to his everlasting shame, concurred: "They have acted like terrorists."
Biden, Doyle, and the Kool-Aid-drinking legions of the Left are formidable. But history shows that Barack Obama's model for prosperity, is a blueprint for economic collapse, a model that is antithetical to prosperity and ultimately at odds with Liberty.
Patriots, we have an obligation to secure Liberty for our posterity, and in the words of John Adams, "Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives."
Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter to James Madison dated January 30, 1787: "I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. ... An observation of this truth should render honest republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions, as not to discourage them too much. It is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government."
Today, Tea Party "terrorists" should expect no such accommodation, as "honest republican governors" are few and far between.
That same year, Jefferson famously wrote more pointedly to John Adams's son-in-law, William Smith, "What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must from time to time be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants. ... And what country can preserve its liberties, if the rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms."
Short of the bullet box, it is my fervent prayer that on 6 November 2012, an unprecedented army of American Patriots will use the ballot box to further alter the course of our nation toward Liberty and Rule of Law.

That notwithstanding, American Patriots remain well aware of both the authority for rebellion and more importantly the obligation to overcome tyranny, as enumerated in the Declaration of Independence. There may come a time to fight, and our Founders wisely extended to us the means for rebellion. We also fully understand the cost outlined in its closing: "For the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor."

Blame the Washington Bureaucracy for High Gas Prices
Americans are paying more for gasoline today than they were six weeks ago when President Obama released 30 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. In the Gulf of Mexico, meanwhile, 10 drilling rigs -- more than one-third of the fleet -- have left on Obama's watch.
This incomprehensible energy policy is not only costing Americans more money at the pump. Bureaucratic delays in Washington are also stunting job growth and adding to the budget deficit.
As the Obama Administration pivots to a new jobs agenda -- at least its seventh attempt to do so -- it would be wise to review the policies that are slowing energy production. Thirty-four years to the day President Jimmy Carter created the Energy Department, it's time for America to embrace a pro-energy agenda that boosts the economy, increases federal revenue and creates jobs.

What the Debt Deal Means for Medicare
The congressional enactment of the Budget Control Act to increase the national debt limit was mostly a triumph of process, not substance. But substance cannot be avoided. The looming question is how this process will deal with the biggest entitlement challenge: Medicare.
On Medicare, Congress has only two options: (1) serious but careful structural reform, or (2) blunt across-the-board cuts that will make matters even worse. After almost 30 years of tiresome debate on this issue, studiously ignoring the findings of independent analysts and presidential commissions alike, Congress has yet another chance to do the hard work on the details of Medicare reform.

We came close to starting to solve our problem, but certain Republicans have got to be removed to make further progress. As soon as we can, Tom Coburn must be removed. As some of you may know, this is not my first contact with Hillsdale College. I vividly remember my visit to Hillsdale more than ten years ago, in March 2000. The winter temperatures the evening I arrived, the sudden spring the next morning, and the summer the following day can't be forgotten, at least for a Central European who lives-together with Antonio Vivaldi-in le quattro stagioni. My more important and long-lasting connection with Hillsdale is my regular and careful reading of Imprimis. I have always considered the texts published there very stimulating and persuasive.
The title of my previous speech at Hillsdale was "The Problems of Liberty in a Newly-Born Democracy and Market Economy." At that time, we were only ten years after the fall of communism, and the topic was relevant. It is different now. Not only is communism over, our radical transition from communism to a free society is over, too. We face different challenges and see new dangers on the horizon. 2012 Update
- A new poll from Quinnipiac University finds President Obama in serious trouble in the key battleground state of Florida. According to the poll, Obama's approval rating in the Sunshine State stands at 44%. Only 33% of independent voters approve. Just 42% of all registered voters surveyed believe the president deserves to be reelected.
- Last night Barack Obama told liberal activists that the 2012 election will "in some ways be more important than the last one. The future is going to be determined by this election." On that point, Barack Obama and I agree.
Nearly half a century ago, Ronald Reagan delivered one of his most famous speeches in which he argued that the 1964 election was a time for Americans to choose the kind of government, and how much government, they wanted. The choice in that election gave us the misnamed Great Society and set us down the disastrous fiscal path we are on today.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) took to the Senate floor this week and delivered a modern version of Reagan's famous speech. Rubio remarked that this week's debt limit deal was so difficult to achieve because there are two competing visions of government in America today. The 2012 election will be a time for choosing.
Will we choose Obama's European-style socialism and continue down the road to default? Or will we hit the brakes and change course, turning back to free enterprise and limited government? You can watch Sen. Rubio's speech here.
- The conventional wisdom in Washington is that President Obama is a shoo-in for a second term. While it's true that presidents usually get reelected, it is also true that Obama is starting to resemble Jimmy Carter. (Actually, he is beginning to make Carter look good!)
There is a surprisingly candid and lengthy column in Politico today detailing the difficulties confronting Obama's campaign. We can win next year, my friends, and we must!
Why Obama Must Be Defeated
We are learning more about how the debt limit deal got done. One thing is clear - presidential leadership did not prevent a default. In fact, a report yesterday suggests that Obama's arrogance nearly caused one.
According to The Hill, Speaker John Boehner asked the networks to broadcast his response to Obama's address to the nation on July 25th. The request reportedly "infuriated the White House" - translated - it infuriated Obama. Apparently Obama thinks he should be allowed to go on national television and say whatever he wants and no one should be able to respond.
In retaliation, the White House instructed Nancy Pelosi not to participate in a scheduled conference call with Boehner and Senate leaders Reid and McConnell. Without Pelosi's participation, Reid backed out and the call was eventually canceled. Thus, at the same time Obama was demanding action, his petulance blew up the negotiations.
Congressional leaders evidently got tired of being played by the White House. Consider this excerpt: "Later that day, the four leaders met with Obama at the White House. At one point ... the Democratic and Republican leaders asked Obama and his aides to leave the room to let them negotiate. A tentative deal was subsequently struck, but Obama privately threatened to veto it..." Incredible!
As I have previously noted, Obama seemingly wanted a default. He was negotiating without details, offering deals he could not deliver and moving the goal posts at every opportunity. Speaker Boehner twice walked out of the negotiations because he felt dealing with Obama was like trying to nail Jell-O to the wall.
For example, on the morning of Monday, July 25th, Obama endorsed a plan by Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid that did not have any tax increases. But in his address to the nation later that night, Obama demanded that tax hikes be part of any deal. That led one liberal pundit at CNN to comment, "nobody today is talking about tax increases, except Barack Obama."
America can't afford four more years of this kind of feckless and petty leadership in the White House.
Obama's Job-Killing Regulations
Kudos to Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), who is leading the fight in Congress to roll back Obama's job-killing regulations. This week, the senator released a report noting that the federal bureaucracy had issued more than 600 new rules and regulations with an estimated cost of nearly $10 billion - in the past month alone!
Let me give you one example. Dendreon is a Seattle-based pharmaceutical company that spent 15 years developing a promising treatment for prostate cancer. So promising, in fact, that JP Morgan labeled the company "our top pick for 2011." But after years of clinical trials and years of jumping FDA hoops, the company is "on the ropes."
Like many cancer treatments, Dendreon's drug must be administered at a doctor's office and it is expensive. So expensive that the doctor's office essentially has to take out a short-term loan to purchase the drug up front. But because of the Medicare bureaucracy, many doctors are not prescribing Dendreon's drug because they are afraid they won't get reimbursed or that it will take forever.
As a result, Dendreon dramatically scaled back its sales projections. Yesterday, the company's stock lost 62% of its value. Investors lost more than $3 billion. Dendreon announced that layoffs were coming. That translates into lost revenue for the government because the investors won't be selling the stock and reporting capital gains. Not to mention the loss of revenue from the soon-to-be unemployed workers.
This company was built on innovation and risk taking. It is being driven into the ground by Obama's bureaucrats. This is life in Obama's America. Producers are being destroyed by the parasite of Big Government.
The Gay Agenda
The outsized influence of a small minority was on full display recently. Listening to the liberal media, you might think I'm referring to the Tea Party forcing President Obama to accept a debt limit deal with no tax hikes.
But the media collectively yawned when radical extremists hijacked California's educational policy and mandated the teaching of "gay history" to public school students. To learn more, read my op-ed in today's Washington Times.

Obama parties like it's 1999 Happy Birthday, Mr. President. We'd toast to your 50 years, but we already have a vicious hangover from the latest 500 point drop in the S&P. As you enjoyed another big ticket birthday fundraiser in Chicago, regular folks were seeing their 401(k)s evaporate, their real estate values plunge, and their business prospects wane. Any decent CEO with your track record would know that it's time to change course, reexamine strategies, and fire top advisers. But you, who have never worked in business a day in your life, think it's time to double down on the same moronic policies that hurt economic growth and lead to more instability in American markets. Did you learn that practical thinking at Harvard Law? At Columbia? If so, those "educational" institutions should lose their accreditation immediately. President Obama is reportedly urging his Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner to stay on through the election. (!!) Geithner has been an unmitigated disaster, as has Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. Both should be fired immediately. But not by Obama's thinking--actually cites both men as key to his administration's economic "accomplishments." What accomplishments are those? Obscenely high unemployment? Oppressively steep gas prices? America's weakened global stature? Lord save us. Oh, and if the President had any sense of optics and, frankly, propriety, he would have cancelled this week's birthday fetes. Or are we the only ones who are supposed to sacrifice, Mr. President?

Standard Speaker: Federal appeals court vacates ruling on Hazleton case

The U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a mandate that declares Hazleton's immigration ordinance unconstitutional, the mayor confirmed Tuesday.
The development comes after the U.S. Supreme Court in June ordered the federal appeals court in Philadelphia to take another look at Hazleton's case.
Hazleton Mayor Joseph Yannuzzi called the development "good news" for the city and puts the city's controversial immigration law back in the hands of the Third Circuit court.
"The initial decision was in favor of the plaintiff - they said it was unconstitutional," Yannuzzi said of the original appeals court ruling last year. "Now they had to vacate that decision and review it again. What it means is that it's going to be some other decision than what it was."
Attorney Kris Kobach, who wrote the law, said the development amounts to the Third Circuit court formally vacating, or erasing, its prior decision.
With the Third Circuit ruling "gone," Kobach said the American Civil Liberties Union and Mexican American Legal Defense & Education Fund will not be able to cite the Third Circuit ruling in Hazleton's case while opposing similar illegal immigration laws that have surfaced in other parts of the country.

August 4, 2011 New Health Guidelines from HHS Trample on Conscience The Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) new preventive services guidelines, released this week, are a disaster for freedom of conscience. Forcing private insurance plans to pay for morally controversial offerings such as contraception, sterilization, and abortifacients raises obvious questions regarding freedom of conscience.
The Obamacare legislation adopted in March 2010 included an amendment proposed by Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) that required private insurance coverage of women's "preventive services" on a mandatory and preferential basis-without deductibles, coinsurance, or patient co-pays. The Department of Health and Human Services enlisted the Institute of Medicine (IOM) to help define exactly what such services would include. The IOM recommendations encompassed not only diabetes and HIV prevention but drugs, devices, and procedures that can prevent conception and terminate pregnancy. Treating organ- and tissue-destroying diseases as equivalent to the natural processes involved in begetting and bearing a child is a gross distortion of reality. In addition to the morally debatable aspects of these services, there are social questions concerning them that continue to divide the public, including the provision of these drugs and devices to minor children and issues of conscience for providers, insurers, and the insured alike. But these concerns did not trouble HHS; the new guidelines make first-dollar coverage of these items mandatory for all health insurance policies to be issued in the United States after August 1, 2012.
The new HHS guidelines contain a conscience protection, but it is offensively narrow. Only "certain religious employers" qualify for the protection, and the guidelines make clear that a religious employer is only one that: has the inculcation of religious values as its purpose; primarily employs persons who share its religious tenets; primarily serves persons who share its religious tenets; and Is a non-profit organization under particular provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. These guidelines likely exclude many charities and organizations that, for practical reasons, fail to meet these stringent requirements. Many religious and pro-life nonprofits may be forced to make an impossible choice: stop serving people without regard to creed or abandon employee health insurance plans.
Federal conscience protections have sometimes recognized both religious and moral objections to certain controversial procedures, as shown by the text of the 1973 Church Amendment, which protects the conscience rights of individuals and entities that receive certain federal funds. The HHS guidelines should have met this same standard.
For these reasons and more, the HHS guidelines released on August 1 deserve intense scrutiny inside Congress and out. Social conservatives should make a stand for conscience protections for all people and institutions-religious and non-religious alike.

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? John Boehner. He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.
If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they wantthem in Iraq and Afghanistan ...
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees...
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

In one of the more shocking interviews to hit their crappy network, Martin Bashir brought on an addiction expert -- yes, an addiction expert -- to describe the Tea Party. Previously, Bashir set up the segment by saying Tea Partiers are dangerous 'cannibals' who are addicted because they keep getting everything they want and will end up like the Norway shooter.
