The Pa legislature is going to have its first hearing ever on a Right to Work package of legislation (House Bills 50-53). It will be held on Tuesday, August 16 from 1-4 p.m. in room 205 of the Ryan Office Building. There is no doubt that the unions will be out in force to try to intimidate members of the Labor committee. If you can get out to the hearing that would be great, please let as many people know about it as possible so members know that the grassroots support Right to Work.

NEW YORK, July 6: The human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) will be hosting its second annual 9/11 Freedom Rally on September 11 at 3pm at Park Place and West Broadway.

Free citizens are coming from all over the U.S. to attend the rally. "It is crucial to stand for freedom on this tenth anniversary of the heinous 9/11 jihad attacks," said AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller. "We must show the jihadists we are unbowed in the defense of freedom."

1. Hold Fast In the Face of Fear

I've gotten lots of calls about compromise this weekend. Senators have called. Congressmen have called. Staffers have called.

I try not to be too committal on these calls because I like to have a bit of time to think.

Here's my response: don't compromise. I've thought about it. I don't think you can get any compromise worth supporting because like an alcohol refusing to admit he has a drinking problem, Washington politicians are refusing to admit they have a spending problem. When they cut spending, they do it dishonestly - through accounting tricks and cuts to growth rates, not actual cuts. We can't send Congress to rehab. We cannot allow yet another Washington deal.

We sent you there to end Obamacare and cut Washington spending. Don't fail on both fronts, please.

2. God and Oslo

Friday, I filled in for Neal Boortz on his syndicated show and was live on air as the news was breaking from the horror in Oslo, Norway.

With Al Jazeera, international news networks, and domestic networks all raising the link to an Islamic radical Norway was deporting, I put on twitter that the odds were it wasn't an angry Lutheran doing the bombing and shooting and noted on the radio the possible links to Islamic radicals.

Turns out, the now captured shooter, who I think we can probably say is connected to the bombing, lists himself as a conservative Christian on a Facebook page.

I was wrong. But the reaction to me and others being wrong and to how the news is handling this event is quite instructive.

In the Arkansas army shootings and the Ft. Hood shooting and a host of others, the media and the left have sought to downplay any possible connection to Islam the attackers or would be attackers have had. And when those of us on the right have pointed it out, we've been accused of racism and those on the left have demanded to know why it even mattered.

Contrast that with the coverage of the Oslo shooter and already the New York Times is making sure in its first few paragraphs everyone knows the guy described himself on Facebook as a "conservative Christian."

It reminds me of the left-wingers who always point out that Eric Rudolph and Timothy McVeigh were Christians. They ignore the fact that McVeigh himself described himself as at best an agnostic, though more clearly an atheist, and Rudolph's FBI file showed he belonged to an extremist cult more Aryan than Christian.

But why all the angst from the left on this.

3. House Republican Leaders Cave in Less Than 24 Hours

This is embarrassing.

On Fox News Sunday, John Boehner began the day saying that he wanted a deal that kept to the principles of "Cut, Cap, and Balance."

He concluded Sunday by telling House Republicans that Cut, Cap, and Balance was off the table due to Senate opposition.

Twice the House GOP has staked out a position. Twice they have been shot up and beat to hell by the Democrats for daring to do so. Twice their leaders then threw in the towel on their plans. First on Paul Ryan's plan and now this.

No wonder so many House Republicans are privately expressing so much anger at their leadership.

To make it worse, Republican Leaders on Capitol Hill are offering up what is being called a "Super Congress". In this plan, 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans would get together, come up with an agreement to make spending cuts and raise taxes. Then neither house in Congress would be able to stop those reforms - no filibuster could be used.

We've seen these sorts of commissions throughout American history. We always wind up with the tax increases. We never get the spending cuts.

In the last thirty years there have been 17 deficit commissions. The deficit has gone up $13 trillion. The cuts are always accounting gimmicks.

House Republicans should hold the freaking line. They should say "Cut, Cap, and Balance" or no deal. They should not succumb to fear. They should not be in such a race to avoid August 2nd that they get a bad deal.

History shows us how this will end up: taxes will go up and spending will go up.

It's time to stop pouring alcohol for the alcoholic. It is time to stop raising the credit limit so the spendthrifts can spend some more. It is time to hold the freaking line.

Cut, Cap, and Balance is the only plan that can be passed by August 2nd. It needs just four more votes in the Senate where it is tabled, not dead.

4. The Unanswered Questions for GOP Leaders from Freshmen

Forget the tax issue or the timetable for a moment; any proposed "spending cut" deal that fails to slash funding for discretionary spending and welfare programs to pre-Obama levels, as proposed in Paul Ryan's budget, is worthless. As Congressman Dennis Ross (R-FL) tweeted earlier today, "debt "deals" that count on 10 years worth of spending cuts are the Mr Snuffleupagus of budget tricks. No one sees them except pols."

If House leaders fail to stand by their own budget, freshmen members like Ross might pose the following question: was the entire Republican majority of the 112th Congress a waste of time?

5. Dear Kelly Ayotte, Ron Johnson, Mike Lee, Rob Portman, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio

Welcome to the Senate.

It ain't easy, is it?

Here's the thing you need to know. Right now, you are probably telling yourself you need to be reasonable. You are probably telling yourself you need to cut a deal.

I'm willing to bet you are telling yourself you should do something short term and in six more months or whenever, after everything has calmed back down, revisit the issue.

Senators, you are fooling yourselves. And I bet you know it.

6. Putting Saxby Chambliss, Mike Crapo, and Tom Coburn in Perspective

This is really sad and pathetic. I can only guess they have struck such a bad deal because they negotiated from a position of fear. You never get a good deal when you are negotiating because you are scared.

The Senate Budget Committee is sending around an email pointing out some of the horrors of the Gang of Six's gangrene plan.

Consider this: Saxby Chambliss, Mike Crapo, and Tom Coburn agreed to raise capital gains taxes from 15% to 28%.

Likewise, employers would no longer get a wage credit for keeping activated military reservists on the job.

7. House Republicans Should Not Rely on Democrats For Votes on the Debt Ceiling

I think conservatives need to draw one more line in the sand on the debt ceiling.

There is a growing worry that John Boehner and Eric Cantor will come up with a deal with the White House that will require Democrat votes to get through the House of Representatives. This would be a replay of the continuing resolution fiasco that cut little and cost much.

If Republican leaders come up with a debt ceiling deal that requires Democrats to vote for it in order to get to 218, the Republicans who put those leaders in power should boot them out of power. It's that simple.

 debkafile's intelligence sources report that the Stuxnet malworm which played havoc with Iran's nuclear program for eleven months was not purged after all. Tehran never did overcome the disruptions caused by Stuxnet or restore its centrifuges to smooth and normal operation as was claimed. Indeed, Iran finally resorted to the only sure-fire cure, scrapping all the tainted machines and replacing them with new ones.

Iran provided confirmation of this Tuesday, July 19 in an announcement that improved and faster centrifuge models were being installed.

Iran would clearly not have undertaken the major and costly project of replacing all its 5,000-6,000 centrifuges with new ones if they were indeed functioning smoothly. The announcement was made by the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman at a press briefing although no one present had raised the nuclear issue. He said: "The installation of new centrifuges with better quality and speed is ongoing... this is another confirmation of the Islamic republic's successful strides in its nuclear activities."

There is ample evidence that CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, has solicited and received funding from foreign entities. Note that the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America has issued fatwas sanctioning polygamy, in keeping with sharia law. One ruling declares American law prohibiting polygamy "against Islamic law."

Don't worry, Beck could care less if a single Jew became a Mormon or even Christian.

Most Christians and Jews are natural allies now, regardless of what transpired decades ago - both have grown up and are now more enlightened. The biggest Christian sects like the Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans - Episcopalians, Presbyterains and Methodists, don't even emphasize conversions any more - letting a person decide for themselves and openly asserting that any good person will go to heaven regardless of whether they have even heard of Christ..

The ones you have to keep an eye on are the Franklin Graham fraternity. He is one of the biggest bigots out there - under cover of Christian charitable works. I would also keep an eye on Hagee but he seems to be under control.

Why does Obama retain so much support?

I was referred to an article titled, What Explains Fashionable Hostility Toward Israel? by a reader, but I found myself more interested in another article by William Galston, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, Why a New Poll in Ohio Spells Trouble for Obama in 2012 

After making the case that Ohio is a bell-weather state, he continues,

Now for the Quinnipiac survey, released in two tranches on Wednesday and Thursday. To begin, it finds that the 2010 Republican tide has ebbed considerably. Newly elected governor John Kasich enjoys a woeful 35 percent approval rating, in part because his agenda is out of sync with that of the electorate. Although Ohioans think it's fair to ask public employees to pay more for health insurance and pensions, only 34 percent support Kasich's push to limit their collective bargaining rights. Fifty-eight percent think public employee unions should be able to bargain over health insurance, 56 percent oppose banning...

Healing Norway

The tragic events in Norway should be a wake up call to the authorities, not to the dangers of so-called "Right-Wing Extremism", but to the very real dangers of marginalizing a political opposition and a point of view to the extent that they have nowhere to go but underground.

 

The response to the attacks by the Norwegian press and the incitement against the right of center dooms the repetition of this same cycle of violence in which views are driven underground, where they simmer into real extremism and then explode. The easy and simple way to diffuse this cycle of violence is to reach out and create safe spaces for freedom of speech even for the most disagreeable views.

European liberals often boast of keeping a tighter lid on extremism than America, with tighter curbs on free speech, but the current tragedy is yet another reminder that this lid is counterproductive. Suppressing a legitimate opposition only leads to the rise of an illegitimate opposition. Shutting down ideas you don't like brings back those same ideas, only heavily armed.

When the Norway bombing was first reported I said I believed it was very likely a Muslim act of terror.  The man now in custody, a Norwegian (though a second man is being sought, so far), has confessed and the public is being told this man had "right-wing" interests.  (Gabby Gifford's assailant was into "left-wing" interests but that was soon ignored).

The reports of "Oklahoma-type" bomb materials and the Timothy McVeigh/ Okalahoma bombing rings strongly with me.  I had had a correspondence with Jayna Davis, the reporter in the Oklahoma case.  She testified in front of a Senate committee, one of the questioners was Arlen Specter. 

She testified that there was almost an immediate shut down of many aspects of the case.  Many leads which were identified, and witnesses who were available,  were not even interviewed.  The FBI did not pursue several connections that were identified to them. It appears that the public was not to be given the full story. Timothy McVeigh's words (if ever spoken) were never made public.

From memory, I recall the following:

 The name of the building bombed in Oklahoma was the Alfred E. Murrah Building. In Saudi Arabia there is an area deep in the interior, only for Muslim warriors.   It is called the Al Murrah . 

Timothy McVeigh had stayed at a motel one or two nights before the bombing.  On a morning radio program I heard a discussion about two Middle Eastern looking men who had been staying in the same motel, at the same time as McVeigh. Those leads were never followed by the FBI, according to the witness.

No, I am not a detective, but I did learn that when you follow a case closely, and something "Here" or There" appears, threads get connected.  Others take the story " as is, " and standing alone. 

If I am wrong about an Islamic connection to the bombing, then I am wrong, and I apologize.  I will still pay strict attention to the 'little threads" that may appear.  Time will tell.

BREAKING NEWS: There was a massive car bomb explosion in Oslo, Norway, this morning. It was followed by a second attack at a youth summer camp. Dozens are reported dead. A jihadist group is claiming that the attacks are in retaliation for, among other things, the publication of cartoons that allegedly mocked the Prophet Muhammad.

There are many who hope and suggest that the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq and Afghanistan will bring an end to Islamic terrorism. It will not. We will simply see more attacks in places like Oslo, London, Paris, Berlin and anywhere else that radical Islam comes into contact with Western Civilization.

Who Are The Extremists?

For weeks Big Media has been bashing congressional Republicans as "extremists" for being unwilling to compromise in the debt limit debate because the GOP doesn't want to raise taxes. Republicans won a sweeping victory last year on the platform of keeping taxes low and cutting spending. If anyone should be compromising now, it should be Obama and congressional Democrats, who went on a massive spending binge for the last two years, producing unsustainable annual deficits of $1.5 trillion.

Today the headlines are filled with news of bitter Democrats who are furious that Obama might cut his own deal with Speaker John Boehner. According to various reports, Obama's budget director was summoned to Capitol Hill yesterday by Senate Democrats. The meeting was "volcanic" and "explosive." Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) said, "I haven't seen a meeting like this in my 35 years in Congress." The issue: Democrats were rejecting any spending cuts and demanding that tax increases on investors, small businesses and entrepreneurs be part of the deal.

So, which party is refusing to compromise? Oh, that's right - the one most responsible for the explosive growth of government and the worst record of fiscal responsibility since FDR!

As families are cutting their budgets and tightening their belts, Democrats are demanding more of your hard-earned money. Are they so extreme that they are willing to risk a default in order to raise your taxes? Don't hold your breath waiting for the media to report that little fact.

Another Business Leader Speaks Up

Let's hope Steve Wynn has started something. Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus gave an interview with Investor Business Daily this week taking President Obama to task for his performance on the economy and job creation. Here are some excerpts:

IBD: What's the single biggest impediment to job growth today?

Marcus: The U.S. government. Having built a small business into a big one, I can tell you that today the impediments that the government imposes are impossible to deal with. Home Depot would never have succeeded if we'd tried to start it today. ...

IBD: If you could sit down with Obama and talk to him about job creation, what would you say?

Marcus: I'm not sure Obama would understand anything that I'd say, because he's never really worked a day outside the political or legal area. He doesn't know how to make a payroll, he doesn't understand the problems businesses face. ...

IBD: Why don't more businesses speak out?

Marcus: They are frightened to death - frightened that they will have the IRS or SEC on them. In my 50 years in business, I have never seen executives of major companies who were more intimidated by an administration.

IBD: What's your message to the business community?

Marcus: It's time to stand up and fight. These people in Washington are out there making your life difficult, and many of you won't survive. Why aren't you doing something about it? The free enterprise system made this country what it is today, and we've got to keep it alive. We are on the edge of the abyss. ..."

Patriotism Produces Republicans (And Vice Versa)

A recent Harvard study made headlines for its conclusion that children who attended July 4th parades were more likely to become Republicans later in life. Another study from researchers at the University of Chicago, Cornell University and Hebrew University finds that images of the American flag also influence voting behavior toward the GOP.

According to the study, "A single exposure to a small American flag during deliberation about voting intentions prior to a general election led to significant and robust changes in participants' voting intentions, voting behavior, and political attitudes, all in the politically conservative direction." [Note to GOP candidates: Include the American flag in every ad!]

While it would be easy to dismiss these studies as insignificant, I think they speak volumes about the political left today. For decades the left has associated itself with anti-Americanism. Our college campuses are filled with professors who preach that America is an evil, colonial power that does more harm than good. Hollywood elites swoon over the likes of Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and other brutal, left-wing dictators.

For decades leftists have burned the flag. Obama began his presidency with a worldwide apology tour. Is it really surprising that voters think of Republicans when they see the U.S. flag?

CUFI AND ISRAEL: JEWS ARE NOT ALONE IN DEFENDING ISRAEL

On the return trip from Washington, D.C., aboard the chartered bus carrying mostly Jews from Cherry Hill, NJ, who had attended the Night to Honor Israel Banquet organized by Christians United for Israel (CUFI) at the Washington DC Convention Center, the conversations were charged with excitement, pride, and renewed determination.  For Arlene, a first time attendee, it was an "unbelievable experience."  She was in awe of the fact that there are genuine "Jew loving Christians," who are also fierce supporters of Israel.

It is easy to understand Arlene's relief at her discovery of "other kind of Christians." Many among the group are sons and daughters or grandchildren of eastern European Jews who remember hearing stories of the hatred and hostility their family members had faced from gentile neighbors. To Arlene's surprise, she learned the origins of such Christian enthusiasm from one of the speakers, Israel's Ambassador Michael Oren, who spoke of Christian Restorationism wherein Bible believing Christians, who believe that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob did not break his covenant with his People, and that restoring the Jewish People in their Promised Land is a moral obligation for a Christian.

The Restoration of the Jews to the Holy Land was a nineteenth-century, Christian movement with both political and religious motivations. The movement flourished primarily in English speaking lands, and especially in the U.S.  John Adams (second president of the U.S.), in a letter to Thomas Jefferson, wrote: "I will insist that the Hebrews have done more to civilize man than any other nation." And in a1819 letter to Mordecai Manuel Noah, Adams wrote:  "I could find it in my heart to wish that you had been at the head of a hundred thousand Israelites...and marching with them into Judea and making a conquest of that country and restoring your nation to the dominion of it.  For I really wish the Jews again in Judea as an independent nation."

Pastor John Hagee, founder of CUFI, could be considered a philosophical and theological descendant of this corps of restorationists - among whom were many of the founding fathers of this American nation - a classical restorationist, who does not seek to convert the Jews to Christianity but to restore their glory.

Thirty years ago during a trip to Israel Pastor John Hagee was in Jerusalem visiting the Western Wall and, while watching those at prayer, realized how little he knew or understood about Judaism. Upon Hagee's return to the Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, the mega-church where he pastors to 19,000 active members, he reached out to area rabbis to work with them regarding Israel advocacy.  Rabbi Aryeh Scheinberg of Congregation Rodfei Sholom, San Antonio, Texas, was the only rabbi to answer the call.  As Pastor Hagee puts it, Rabbi Scheinberg had the "courage" to work with CUFI and that helped to usher in the 1^st Night to Honor Israel.

As one of the principle keynoters at CUFI's Sixth Annual Washington Summit -The Night to Honor Israel Banquet, on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, and to the cheers of more than 5000 attendees including hundreds of Jews, over 500 students, and CUFI members from overseas and, all 50 states of the Union, Hagee's rumbling voice welcomed the vast audience.  He set the tone with the theme of Truth.  Truth Hagee said "is what the Bible says it is," and added, that "Truth comes before friendship, and that truth comes before success."  Hagee continued, "there must be truth before all else."  He noted "that there are two ways to live your life - the Torah way and the wrong way."  Hagee exhorted the audience to carry the torch of truth.

And, he added, "The truth is that President Obama is not a friend of Israel." He pointed out that only God's boundaries are valid and not Obama's demand that Israel return to its 1967 boundaries.  "The boundaries of Israel," Hagee said, "are recorded 17 times in the Bible - even the liberal media can't get that wrong!"

"The Jewish people are home," Hagee thundered, they are not trespassers on somebody else's land." "Christians and Jews are spiritual brothers, Hagee said, and he proudly added, that "This is the first time in 2000 years that Israel is uniting Jews and Christians."  Hagee also noted with pride that CUFI is the largest pro-Israel organization in America.

Addressing the Obama administration Hagee remarked that, "America's problem is not finding the truth - America's problem is facing the truth.  He charged that President Obama is trying to separate America from Israel. "America," Hagee said, "should not pressure Israel to give up land for peace - not to anyone - not ever.  Land for peace doesn't work."  The truth, he added, is that "Barack Obama has no authority to tell the Jewish people what they and cannot do in their capital.  King David claimed Jerusalem as its capital long before Barack Obama was a community organizer."  In a reference to Obama's mistreatment of Israel Hagee declared, "Israel is not a vassal state of the U.S., let's start treating Israel as the friend that it is."

Hagee asserted that President Obama is waiting for Iran to extend its hand of friendship to America while imposing "toothless sanctions" against the Islamic republic.  Israel, he said, has two choices: "Either to live with the daily threat of a nuclear armed enemy that vows to wipe it off the map, or deliver a first strike."  He emphasized the admonition by Pastor Martin Neimoller, "First they (Nazis) came for the Communists and I was not a communist..." adding that if Iran succeeds against Israel, Europe and America will be its next and more lucrative targets.

Turning to the scourge of terrorism Hagee said, "Terrorists are not coming to America, they are already here."

In conclusion Hagee quoted Winston Churchill, "Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities... because it is the quality which guarantees all others." He then challenged the people in the audience to have the courage to act upon their convictions.

Seated in section E of the giant banquet hall and watching thousands of people waving the flags of the United States and Israel, Arlene was engulfed in the enthusiasm of the audience and her Cherry Hill, NJ Jewish friends.  On the ride back home, she reflected on how comforting it was to know that that Jews were not alone in defending the justness of Israel's cause.  Fifty million Bible believing Christians are actively lending their voices of support at home and in DC meetings with their elected officials, to protect the Jewish State, and CUFI is the instrument of support that is mobilizing them.

It was only a week ago that I broadcasted an article (attached) on Fundamentalist Mormons acting as proxies for Islamists to assimilate polygamy into mainstream American society via TLC channel's "Sister Wives," as well as its predecessor, "Big Love."  With polygamy's new-found support from the show's fans, the "Sister Wives" family is now challenging Utah's anti-polygamy laws.

Well, the new news is out: TLC is now about to start airing another reality series, "All-American Muslim."  Could the promotion of an Islamist agenda by TLC be any more explicit, as it presents sympathetic Islamic families grappling with questions of Shariah law in the face of a misunderstanding and distrusting Western society?

Unhappy Anniversaries, President Obama

The Obama Administration has seen its fair share of milestones this month. Yesterday marked the first anniversary of the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Protection Act, Obamacare is just over one year old, it has been more than 800 days since the Democrat-controlled Senate passed a budget, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau opened its doors on Thursday--the first new federal agency in nearly a decade. You'll notice that no one is celebrating any of them.

Perhaps it's because those milestones have led to an even more ignominious one that the White House achieved in June. As of last month, 30 percent of the 14.1 million unemployed Americans have been out of work for more than a year. The average length of unemployment is now 39.7 weeks, the longest since the Department of Labor began tracking it.

Rumors are swirling in Washington over a potential GOP-White House deal on the debt ceiling that would reduce the national debt but include no immediate provisions to raise taxes. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and the White House deny that an agreement has been reached.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is employing a rarely used procedural tactic to cut off debate on the House's Cut, Cap, and Balance plan, saying that he would no longer "waste" the Senate's time on the measure.

The ban on gays and lesbians serving in the military is likely to end in September, a Defense Department official says. The Pentagon is expected to announce today that the ban can be lifted without harming military readiness.

Why should Americans pay higher taxes? Well, they shouldn't, but the left has developed a unique set of poetic terminology explaining the "neighborly" duty of "contributing your fair share." Jonah Goldberg explains.

President Barack Obama told the nation on Saturday that solving the nation's debt crisis would "take a balanced approach, shared sacrifice, and a willingness to make unpopular choices."

Those are weasel words.

On Tuesday, the president applauded a proposal from the "Gang of Six" - six U.S. senators who unveiled a a scheme to reduce the nation's debt. He called it "balanced" because it combines spending reductions ($500 billion immediately, most later and few specifics offered) with changes in the tax code that would bring in $1 trillion more money from taxpayers over the next decade than current law.

The president must think the public is too stupid to remember that just 16 months ago, the Obama health law raised taxes by a whopping $503 billion dollars (10 year estimate from the Joint Committee on Taxation). You haven't felt those tax hikes yet, because they don't go into effect until 2013 or later, but they are already the law.

If you and your spouse make $250,000 a year, your Medicare payroll tax is going up from 2.9 percent to 3.8 percent. If you own stocks or bonds or a home, and you sell at a profit, your "unearned income' on that transaction will be hit with a new 0.9 percent tax.

New limits on how you can use flexible spending accounts and new taxes on medical devices and health plans will eventually take money out of your pocket. And in 2018 a 40 percent excise tax on the most generous health plans goes into effect.

In other words, the tax increase side of the balanced approach was done last year. It's time for the spendaholics in Washington to cut spending, period.

Now let's examine President Obama's other call to action, "shared sacrifice".

 Why waste time asking "what did you know and when did you know it" questions reminiscent of the Watergate investigation when Obama Regime targets of the Grassley/Issa congressional committees might already face felony charges?

That's the question Attorney David Hardy and others are asking those investigating the role of Regime members in the deadly gun walking fiasco,  Fast and Furious.

Since whistle blowers brought this scheme to the attention of Congress early this year,  Senator Charles Grassley and Congressman Darrell Issa have been frustrated by Department of Justice stonewalling,  subterfuge and misrepresentation.

As Grassley wrote to Attorney General Eric Holder in a July 18th correspondence,  "If the attorneys working on the [Justice]  Department's  response to the Committee spent less time redacting documents and more time producing them,  we would be much closer to understanding the failures in leadership surrounding Operation Fast and Furious."

U.S. Senate Stands with NRA

in Strongly Opposing U.N. Gun Control Efforts

For nearly 20 years, the NRA has worked tirelessly to oppose any United Nations effort to undermine the constitutional rights of law-abiding American gun owners.  The latest attempt by the U.N. and global gun banners to eliminate our Second Amendment freedoms is to include civilian arms in the current Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), which will be finalized next year.

In order for any treaty to take effect, however, it must be ratified by two-thirds of the U.S. Senate.   To ensure that any ATT that includes civilian arms is dead on arrival in the Senate, the NRA has been working to get as many U.S. Senators as possible to publicly oppose any ATT that includes restrictions on civilian arms.

As of this morning, 50 members of the U.S. Senate have signed letters to President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton saying they will oppose any ATT that includes civilian firearms ownership.  These strongly worded letters caution the President and Secretary of State to uphold the Constitution of the United States.  As Senator Jerry Moran's letter warns, "(A)s the treaty process continues, we strongly encourage your administration to uphold our constitutional protections of civilian firearms ownership.  These freedoms are non-negotiable, and we will oppose ratification of an Arms Trade Treaty presented to the Senate that in any way restricts the rights of law-abiding U.S. citizens to manufacture, assemble, possess, transfer or purchase firearms, ammunition and related items."

Thanking the NRA for our long-standing work on this issue, Senator Moran remarked, "I appreciate the NRA's partnership on this important effort to defend the rights of American gun owners. I want to thank them for their active support in sending a strong message to the Obama Administration that our firearm freedoms are not negotiable."

As we have for nearly two decades, the NRA will continue to fight against any U.N. treaty that undermines the constitutional rights of American gun owners.  These letters send a clear message to the international bureaucrats who want to eliminate our fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms.   Clearly, a U.N. ATT that includes civilian arms within its scope is not supported by the American people or their elected U.S. Senators.  We are grateful to Senator Moran, Senator Jon Tester, and all members of the Senate who have chosen to stand on the side of America's 80 million gun owners in opposition to those who want to eliminate our freedoms.  And thank you as well to those NRA members who contacted their Senators and encouraged them to support this critical effort.

White House: Economy has 'vastly improved' under Obama
 

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney came out with quite a claim yesterday when he boldly declared, "Well, two things remain uncontestably true. The economy is vastly improved from what it was when Barack Obama was sworn into office as president..." If by vastly improved he means increase unemployment by well over 1% and make energy prices skyrocket -  then he's 100% correct. Yeah, he actually said that - WATCH.

Senator Harry Reid can't be serious - he's come out now and said 'cut, cap and balance' is the 'worst legislation' in history. Balancing the budget = worst in history? Marcus Bachmann office bombarded by crazy activists
