Moody's Blues: Major Agency Threatens to Downgrade U.S. Credit Rating

Moody's Investors Service, one of the world's most respected and widely utilized sources for credit ratings, threatened to lower the United States' credit rating, citing the likelihood that the government will default on its debt.

The credit rating agency said it will have to adjust the government's triple-A bond rating, the highest rating awarded by Moody, because the White House and Congress are running out of time to raise the nation's borrowing limit and avoid a default.

Obama Allegedly Storms Out of Budget Negotiations with Republican Lawmakers

President Obama, in a move that strengthens his reputation as a petulant man-child, abruptly left debt negotiations with congressional leaders Wednesday.

According to The Los Angeles Times, the meeting began to go awry when House Majority Leader Eric Cantor told the president that, "Congress should instead consider a series of debt ceiling votes based on spending cuts that already have been identified. Talks could then continue to identify additional cuts for subsequent votes."

3. Dear Mr. Speaker

Last night the President engaged in off Broadway theatrics trying to scare the Republicans into folding on debt ceiling negotiations. Playing the role of Hollywood President, not the real President, the President said he didn't care if this brought down his Presidency and he would not yield. He then dared Eric Cantor to call his bluff.

Mr. Speaker, this is a man giving away the game. This is the poker player smiling and shifting in his seat trying to fake you into thinking he has an awesome hand. The dramatics are a Hollywood production - a facade hiding a bitter reality for Barack Obama.

Mr. Speaker, this is the strongest sign yet that you should hold the line.

David Gergen and I had a conversation last night with Nichole Wallace and Anderson Cooper. Mr. Gergen said something interesting, Mr. Speaker. It got me thinking. He said President Obama had to raise the debt ceiling. He said President Obama just had to do whatever it took to raise the debt ceiling and deal with everything else later.

Mr. Speaker, Mr. Gergen is right.

See, in history, we remember James Buchanan causing the Civil War. Not Congress.

We remember Abraham Lincoln winning the war. Not Congress.

We remember Andrew Johnson failing to finish reconciliation the way Lincoln wanted. Not Congress.

We remember Woodrow Wilson failing to establish the League of Nations. Not Congress.

We remember Herbert Hoover causing the Great Depression. Not Congress.

We remember Franklin Roosevelt for saving us from the Depression and war. Not Congress.

We credit John F. Kennedy for inspiring a nation of youth and leading us to the moon. Not Congress.

We credit Lyndon Johnson with passing the Great Society. Not Congress.

We blame Jimmy Carter for out of control inflation in the 70?s. Not Congress.

We credit Ronald Reagan with cutting taxes. Not Congress.

We blame George H. W. Bush for raising taxes. Not Congress.

We praise Bill Clinton for balancing a budget. Not Congress.

We credit George W. Bush with No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part D, Immigration Reform attempts, TARP, and the GM bailout. Not Congress.

Hell, when people hear Osama Bin Laden is dead, Barack Obama gets the credit, not the SEALs. And we credit him for passing Obamacare, for better or worse, even when Congressional Democrats did all the heavy lifting.

You see Mr. Speaker, we know Barack Obama is thin skinned and we know he is mindful of his legacy. This is why Barack Obama stormed out of a meeting with Republicans last night when they confronted him with the fact that his supposed spending cuts are accounting gimmicks.

Barack Obama, for the sake of his legacy, cannot afford to be the President under whom America's credit tanks and under whom America defaults on its debts.

History will not blame Congress. History will blame Barack Obama for not doing what it takes to lead and for failing to do what it takes, no matter the cost, to keep the U.S. solvent.

4. Our Petulant Child President

"US President Barack Obama stormed out of tense debt-limit talks Wednesday with his top Republican foes after declaring he was ready to stake his reelection on the outcome, a Republican aide said."

This isn't a surprise to anyone who has been playing attention to our child president over the past three years. The Obama administration has been a veritable Mecca for narcissism and incompetence from the time Obama took the oath of office.

Now, for the first time since taking office, Obama is forced to make a decision that entailed personal risk. It isn't a pretty sight.

5. Moody's Rejects McConnell's 'Pontius Pilate Act'

Moody's Investor Services is sending out a pretty clear rejection of Mitch McConnell's "Pontius Pilate Pass the Buck Act of 2011."

Republicans and Democrats who are spinning it in favor of folding like a cheap suit and just raising the debt ceiling should pay attention.

As Debt Deadline Nears, Our Demagogue-In-Chief Says Americans Can't Understand The Debate

 
 President Obama thinks you are too simpleminded. Or perhaps you are just too busy worrying about your job and your family to really understand the debt ceiling debate that is headed for a monumental showdown in the next three weeks.

Cut through all the posturing and presidential puffery from President Obama's press conference Monday on the debt ceiling debate and this one fact stands out: Obama believes ordinary Americans can't really understand the issue!

When asked by a reporter how he would convince the 69% of Americans who do not want the debt ceiling increased, Obama demeaned American rank and file citizens by saying...

"The public is not paying close attention to the ins and outs of how a Treasury auction goes."
(Translation: These things are very difficult to understand.)

"[The public] shouldn't. They're worrying about their family, they're worrying about their jobs... neighborhood."
(Translation: The Little People have enough to worry about.)

"We're paid to worry about it."
(Translation: This is the work of Professional Politicians, not ordinary people who are worrying about their jobs.)

In other words, let the paid politicians handle it because we are too ill-informed to understand it!

GO HERE TO SEE OBAMA'S ATTACK ON ORDINARY AMERICANS

Then, Obama added insult to injury by saying that if he could frame the debate in terms of an economic catastrophe ("another recession...millions more people out of work"), the public would agree with him! If this pattern of elitist analysis and manipulative "doomsday" fearmongering sounds familiar, it should.

• STIMULUS-- In 2009, Obama called on Congress to "pass this [stimulus] bill immediately" to "avoid a deepening disaster." Now we know that it was the Stimulus that was the disaster and each job allegedly "created" cost taxpayers on average $278,000.
• OBAMACARE-- The entire ObamaCare debate was cast by Obama and the Left as the only way to avert economic disaster while they told us not to worry about the complex details. Now that the details are emerging, it is clear that ObamaCare will create its own economic disaster.

Now, the Demagogue-In-Chief is creating another artificial "disaster" while telling Americans not to even try to understand the complexity of the debt issue.

Countdown Underway To Debt Ceiling Showdown Obama also heightened the debt ceiling "crisis" by rejecting any short-term solutions and demanding that a "compromise" be struck by the August 2 deadline. So the setup is complete...

Obama now has his "crisis" ("another recession")

He has a deadline (August 2)...

And he has an issue too difficult for US to understand!

ACTION: IF YOU AGREE WITH OBAMA, DO NOTHING! If you want your voice heard on the central issue facing our nation today -- runaway government spending and debt -- then let Congress know where you stand. Sign the "Cut, Cap and Balance" Petition that demands real spending cuts, a real cap on spending and a Balanced Budget Amendment. Tell Congress that WE are smart enough to understand budgets and fiscal sanity. Let the Big Spenders know in no uncertain terms that you are finished with the political posturing, the gamesmanship and the dishonesty. Tell them you want real substantive action on the budget!   An analysis of "yellow journalism"
  How biased reporting aids radical Islam: What we can learn from The Tennessean article
 

As we emailed you Monday, on Sunday The Tennessean newspaper ran a story by Bob Smietana that was so laced with lies, fabrications and distortions we determined we had no choice but to respond to it here.

The bigger picture than Smietana's story is the lengths some in the media will go to in order to advance an agenda or a particular bias. Smietana's story, the latest in a string of such stories he has written, is an excellent lesson for all of us in how "yellow journalism" operates with respect to the threat of radical Islam.

Two online dictionaries define "yellow journalism" as journalism that "exploits, distorts or exaggerates" or uses "unscrupulous methods."

It is journalism driven by an agenda, that expresses itself by what it says, what it doesn't say, how it says it, and the overall tone it attempts to create. It is journalism, not intended to report, but to SHAPE and INFLUENCE public opinion.

Here is what we can learn about the agenda driving Bob Smietana's piece of yellow journalism and how it aided the advance of radical Islam.

  Perhaps this kind of yellow journalism helps explain why The Nashville Scene posted on June 30^th that The Tennessean had begun laying off staff. It would appear The Tennessean is struggling financially to stay afloat because it continues to lose subscribers.

If you are a subscriber to the paper, now would be an ideal time to contact the circulation department and cancel your subscription-and let them know you've had enough of the newspaper's yellow journalism.

In the wake of the widespread push to legalize homosexual marriage, the definition of marriage as a union of one man and one woman has been loosened and opened for change.  It's natural for polygamists to see this as an opening to redefine marriage even further.  If they succeed, watch out when heart-tugging television shows about pedophile romance and marriage start appearing.  The effort to normalize Muhammad's marriage to 9-year-old Aisha will have begun.

Deals might be reached to keep major cities operating under Israeli law. There would be no borders in the binational state, but international forces under UN supervision would provide security between Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Israel.

Yesterday Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell took to the Senate floor and fired a broadside against Barack Obama. Here is a brief excerpt:

"An ideological commitment to big government has outweighed the White House's commitment to find a meaningful compromise that does not damage our fragile economy in the process. ...after years of discussions and months of negotiations, I have little question that as long as this President is in the Oval Office, a real solution is unattainable." [Emphasis added.]

Exactly! That is what every conservative and every voter has to understand. Senator McConnell has put the situation confronting congressional Republicans in very stark terms. Obama is not negotiating in good faith.

Obama claimed that he offered Republicans a $4 trillion deal with significant reductions to entitlement spending. But he refused to put anything in writing, and many of the cuts seemed fake.

In addition, House Democrats were opposed to it, and Senate Democrats were threatening to filibuster it. Why? Pure politics.

As a Washington Post blogger reported, Democrats were unwilling to give up their "MediScare" demagoguery. Obama didn't even have his own party on board. He knew this was never a serious offer.

That is why Senator McConnell is saying that a real solution is unattainable so long as Barack Obama is in the White House. In his speech, Senator McConnell set the stage for the 2012 campaign. This is what the next election will be about - the future course of America.

Do we embrace Obama's big government socialism and go down the path that has Europe on the brink today? Or do we return to our roots of free enterprise, lower taxes and smaller government? That is the choice that will confront us next November.

Plan B

Unfortunately, we still have the debt limit issue to deal with. And Barack Obama has once again taken "hostages" to threaten GOP congressmen.

When Republicans wanted to cut funding for Planned Parenthood, Obama threatened to shut down the government and cut off paychecks to our soldiers. Now he is threatening to stop sending Social Security checks to our seniors if Republicans don't raise the debt ceiling and your taxes. (Remember how liberals kept saying that your Social Security money was in a "lock box" and was "safe"? Obviously, they were lying about that too.)

It is very difficult to predict how this will play out. Having worked inside the White House, I know the power of the bully pulpit. I also know that virtually every media outlet will be on Obama's side in any showdown, just as they have been on his side from the day he first ran for president.

The reality is that most Americans aren't watching Fox News or reading this daily report. Come August 3rd, the markets could be in meltdown. Americans will pick up their morning paper and turn on the news to learn that Social Security checks, veterans' benefits and disability payments won't be going out. And almost every reporter and editorial will be telling them that House Republicans, under the control of right-wing extremists, are to blame for this catastrophe.

To avoid what appears to be an increasingly likely scenario, Senator McConnell proposed a Plan B. Here is the condensed version:

Give Obama the authority to request three debt limit increases from now through 2012. Congress will be given the chance to vote on a resolution of disapproval. If it passes, Obama can veto it. If 34 Senate Democrats sustain his veto, the debt limit is increased and Obama gets his additional spending.

The downside is obvious: Obama gets his spending; no cuts are made. The upside is that taxes are not increased, and the burden for raising the debt limit each time rests with Obama. Many people believe this will help us reach the most important goal - defeating Obama in November 2012 so that we can stop his destruction of our economy and values.

The reaction to McConnell's plan has been largely negative, particularly on conservative talk radio. The Wall Street Journal, however, is defending McConnell's plan. The editors of National Review are suggesting that House Republicans pass their own plan and put the ball in Harry Reid's court.

I am open to all these options. What we can't do is attack each other and give the Obama socialists four more years to pursue his destructive policies. What's your preference?

Jackals Circling Fox

Left-wing jackals are sensing a chance to take down Rupert Murdoch and Fox News. At issue is the growing phone hacking scandal in England, which the left may exploit to try to shut down Fox News.

You can learn more about the scandal here. The connection between a British paper and Fox News is that they are owned by the same company, Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.

Various left-wing groups are demanding action by Congress or the Federal Communications Commission. Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, issued a statement demanding an investigation to find out if any U.S. laws were violated or if there are any American victims in the phone hacking scandal.

Obama and his henchmen have wanted to shut down Fox News for years. You may recall that Obama initially blacklisted Fox News, refusing to grant interviews to Fox reporters, and members of his administration repeatedly suggested that it was not a legitimate news organization.

Never ones to let a crisis go to waste, they are now trying to exploit the outrageous actions of a British tabloid in the hopes of finally silencing the one cable news outlet in America that does not toe the liberal line.

As the Obama administration threatens to cut off the meager checks Social Security recipients must live on if Republican leaders do not agree to raise the debt ceiling, one House Republican is exploring the massive campaign checks Democrats may have illegally solicited inside the White House. Congressman Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, sent a scathing  10-page letter to Obama counsel Kathryn Ruemmler on Monday demanding materials that help him determine whether Obama has violated campaign finance laws multiple times.

In the years since housing prices peaked in the second quarter of 2007, the value of household real estate has fallen by about $6.6 trillion[1]-30 percent-and it continues to fall. Real recovery is not likely until both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are replaced by a new housing finance system that does not include government distortions of the market.

Mayor Ed Foster Comments On The State Of Emergency In Quartzsite, AZ

QUARTZSITE, AZ - The far western Arizona town of Quartzsite was in disarray Monday after the town council ousted the mayor from power and declared a state of emergency, all over an online video that shows a woman being arrested.

Mayor Ed Foster said the town council held a last-minute meeting that was closed to the public Sunday night, declaring a state of emergency in the 3,600-person town just east of the California city of Blythe.

The council's declaration put police Chief Jeff Gilbert in charge, making Foster the "deputy chief executive of nothing right now," he said. It also allows the five-member council to meet without public notice and suspend all public comment at the meetings until they declare the state of emergency over.

However, Vice Mayor Barbara Cowell denies the city is under any type of emergency order and told ABC15 "it's business as usual."

Cowell did admit city council members, on advice from the city attorney, had an emergency meeting Sunday night after all six council members received threatening e-mails, even death threats, over a video posted online .

"It scares the hell out of me, I'm sorry to say," said Cowell.

The video shows a woman identified as Jennifer Jones being arrested and hauled away from a council meeting after she said the council was violating open-meetings laws. Jones was speaking during a public comment period, and Foster is heard on the video telling other council members who ordered her removed that "the lady has the floor."

"It was emergency measures pertaining to the emails we've gotten, what we can do to protect our people," said Cowell.

On Monday, Foster filed paperwork with the Arizona Attorney General's Office complaining Sunday's emergency meeting violated the state's open meetings law.
