What Have We Learned in 2,065 Years?
"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." -

"We have gone to the capitals of our states and to the capitals of our government. We have talked to all the power brokers. The only power broker, the only seat of government that can and will solve this problem with or without us is God. It is time to return inside the walls that surround Jerusalem and stand with people of all faiths, all around the world," Glenn said in his initial announcement.
"In August, whether I'm there with seven people or 10 people or there alone, I will stand. I ask you to join me. I also ask you to take this message globally, to take this to every corner of the earth. If you have family living overseas, this is not an America solution. This is a people of faith solution. This is a people all over the world solution. I ask you to help get this word out."

SEIU Officials Throw Out Member Questioning Union's Ballot-Counting Practices
The Blaze | by Jonathon M. Seidl | Posted on June 15, 2011 at 3:56pm
It's been a longstanding mantra of Glenn Beck's: he doesn't have a problem with union members, but rather thinks it's the union leaders who are warping the unions. And he's also been encouraging people to stand with courage. This video may provide proof of both.

RedState Morning Briefing
For June 16, 2011
1. The Fordham Foundation Yet Again Pretends to Lean Right to Attack Rick Perry From the Left
Yesterday on National Review Online, Checker Finn took one pot shot after another at the state of Texas and publicly displayed his hand-wringing over Texas Governor Rick Perry's potential influence on national education policy. You see, Mr. Finn tries - quite unsuccessfully in my view - to target Texas "bravado" as the threat to a sound education policy. On the one hand, he attempts to criticize Governor Perry by lumping him in with George W. Bush's efforts to push No Child Left Behind, despite Perry's resistance to embrace it. Then he turns around and says now we will somehow suffer because Perry's national policy prefers to leave education to the states (heaven forbid).
Now before I go too far, my purpose of responding to Mr. Finn is not to defend or promote the Governor as much as it is to point out the absurdity of what Mr. Finn purports to say on an objective basis and the curious placement of such a piece in National Review given the leftist connections of the Fordham Foundation, which tries assiduously to portray itself as center-right despite those connections.
2. Of ATMs, Mousetraps and Watches
"If you build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door." Judging from his comments regarding ATMs and unemployment, President Obama blames the better mousetrap for 400,000 out-of-work cats. Cats who are starving for the lack of mice.
Creative destruction is a necessary and vital feature of a healthy and free capitalist economy. Business people intuitively know and embrace it (or at least they should). Smart workers anticipate it.
Creative destruction is the mechanism by which labor and capital are redeployed to more efficient uses. It's how a healthy capitalist economy reinvents itself, rewarding the flexible and efficient while penalizing those who say "But this is how it's always been done".
My Dad was a worker who experienced three separate cycles of innovation and creative destruction in his career of almost 40 years. His story is below.
3. Judd "Goldman Sachs" Gregg Paid to Fight BBA
It didn't take long for former Senator Judd Gregg to use his influence to try to push the bidding of Wall Street at the expense of middle America.
Yesterday, Gregg wrote an Op Ed for The Hill where he thrashed the Balanced Budget Amendment "to dodge debt-ceiling action." Gregg tries to redefine conservatism.
4. Operation Fast and Furious' fast and furious unraveling.
So. Somebody in the Obama administration is telling lies to the House Oversight/Government Reform Committee. That's not smart. When people tell lies to House committees, people go to jail.
Background on this: this is all about the BATF/Justice Department Operations Gunrunner and Fast & Furious, which were originally purported to be methods by which [illegal purchases of] guns could be detected and arrested*. However, they instead turned into methods by which Mexican drug cartels were able to get their hands on [illegally-purchased semi-automatic] weapons. You see, the problem was that while selling the guns to middlemen ('straw purchasers') [who intend to sell the guns illegally] is in itself a standard 'sting' operation, somehow the guns continued on down the supply chain until they resurfaced in Mexico. The end result was inevitable: somebody used a BATF-supplied gun to kill Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.
5. Agriculture Appropriations Bill Update
Yesterday, the House is debating the annual Agriculture Appropriations bill, which appropriates funds for the Department of Agriculture and similar agencies. The committee-passed bill provides a spending level of $17.25 billion, which is $2.7 billion less than FY 2011 appropriations.
While $2.7 billion is a good start -enough to invoke the most vile class warfare from Democrats - there is still more to cut. This is part of a growing pattern with all of the appropriations bills. The Republican-led committees have offered some solid cuts around the edges, but fail to strike deeper, more consequential cuts. Keep in mind that while these cuts might appear significant, when compared against the profligate baseline of recent budgeting, they will not reverse the tide of the debt insolvency that awaits us. That's one job that Obama's ATM will not execute successfully. To that end, the RSC is offering an amendment today which would cut an additional $1.8 billion from the USDA.
6. The California Amazon Tax violates Props 25 and 26
Don't our elected officials have access to Ballotpedia? If the California Democrats did, they'd know that the Amazon Tax being taken up this afternoon in the legislature is unconstitutional under the state Constitution. And it's not some old, obscure provision that's violated either. It's the brand-new Proposition 26, a constitutional amendment passed in November, that the tax violates.
Put simply, Proposition 26 doesn't let the state raise new revenue without a 2/3 requirement, so the Amazon tax cannot be passed with a simple majority. And no, Proposition 25, another constitutional amendment also passed in November, doesn't change that fact.
7. NLRB Judge on Length of Boeing Fight: 'I'll be retired or dead...'
It appears the National Labor Relations Board does not like being the subject of the intense scrutiny its pro-union extremism has brought on. If it did, it wouldn't be trying really, really hard to get the Boeing Company to reach some sort of settlement with the Machinists' union.
In fact, on Tuesday, the first day of the NLRB's hearing to destroy South Carolina jobs, Administrative Law Judge, Clifford Anderson, urged (unsuccessfully so far) the parties to reach a settlement, even bringing up his own mortality.

Boycott Harry Potter.
Explain your reasoning to a liberal: author J.K. Rowling has been a big donor to Britain's terrible socialistic Labor Party that has ruined Great Britain's economy (more than once) and massively curtailed individual freedom in the land of Magna Carta. Thus, putting money in Rowling's pockets is as bad as buying South African oranges at the height of Apartheid. Pakistan Arrests C.I.A. Informants in Bin Laden Raid
June 15, 2011
Muhammed Muheisen/Associated Press
Weeks after the raid that killed Osama bin Laden at this compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan arrested C.I.A. informants who had assisted in the operation.
Published: June 14, 2011
WASHINGTON - Pakistan's top military spy agency has arrested some of the Pakistani informants who fed information to the Central Intelligence Agency in the months leading up to the raid that led to the death of Osama bin Laden, according to American officials.
A casualty of the recent tension between the countries is an ambitious Pentagon program to train Pakistani paramilitary troops to fight Al Qaeda and the Taliban in the northwestern tribal areas.
Pakistan's detention of five C.I.A. informants, including a Pakistani Army major who officials said copied the license plates of cars visiting Bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in the weeks before the raid, is the latest evidence of the fractured relationship between the United States and Pakistan. It comes at a time when the Obama administration is seeking Pakistan's support in brokering an endgame in the war in neighboring Afghanistan.
At a closed briefing last week, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee asked Michael J. Morell, the deputy C.I.A. director, to rate Pakistan's cooperation with the United States on counterterrorism operations, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Report: Grand jury probing possible CIA war crimes in Iraq

An expanded probe includes cases of alleged abuse of terror suspects in U.S. custody. | Reuters Close
A federal prosecutor has launched a secret grand jury to investigate possible CIA war crimes at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, Time magazine reported.
Federal prosecutor John Durham, who was first appointed to probe the destruction of CIA interrogation videotapes by Attorney General Michael Mukasey in 2008, is now working on an expanded probe authorized by the Obama Justice Department that includes cases of alleged abuse of terror suspects in U.S. custody.
Time reported on Monday that one Durham-issued subpoena said the federal grand jury "is conducting an investigation of possible violations of federal criminal laws involving War Crimes (18 USC/2441), Torture (18 USC 243OA) and related federal offenses." Please feel free to copy and circulate. This item is designed to be crude and coarse, and to appeal to the man in the beer hall and the man in the street (like the original on which we modeled it). It and others can be used, for example, by JDL Canada to fight the Sea Hitler ship to Gaza.
Note incidentally that we say Islamization and not Islam. It is important to not give the enemy propaganda that can be turned against us, or used by the enemy to appeal to Muslims who are not involved in trying to turn Euro-American countries into Sharia-governed hellholes. Also, if this poster is to be distributed to an African-American audience, the woman should be re-done to make her Black; if to Asian audiences, she should be Asian.

The author supports a robust interventionist policy. I don't, certainly with respect to "humanitarian interventions" like in Kosova and Libya. But when American interests are at stake I am for it. That is not to say that there are not times that the American people as represented By Congress, will be in favour of humanitarian intervention. The decision should be Congresses to make and not the President's. Why is America giving money to the Palestinians, to UNWRA, to Egypt, to Libya while the oil rich states are giving small amounts at best. Why isn't the Senate debating this. Why didn't America charge Iraq for its liberation. Ted Belman

Politically Incorrect
The Swiss Tagesanzeiger newspaper cited the Dutch Islam critic Geert Wilders that we're "at the beginning of something really great." Such was the statement of the PVV leader at an informal press discussion with the SVP politician Oskar Freysinger last Thursday in The Hague (PI reported). It appears hear to be not only an intense friendship but also the formation of a powerful European pact between Islam-critical parties that is above any possible suspicion of being close to "rightwing extremism."
The Tagesanzeiger writes:
Wilders wants to be inspired by Switzerland. "We want to multiply our initiatives. We are the beginning of something really great," the Dutch politician said. The minaret initiative especially has affected him. Both politicians not only made shots at Islam this time, but also the debt states of Greece and Portugal receive their digs as well. At the...

John R. Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., says a vote would only diminish the world body.
An aversion to reality can be a powerfully destructive force. Its most visible manifestation in international affairs lies in trying to create political "facts on the ground" through the United Nations. Accordingly, it is no surprise that the Middle East, one of our most intractable problems, provokes so much U.N. activity, even though the real-world consequences are so limited.
The next episode of reality avoidance is the near certainty that, this fall, the General Assembly will vote to recognize a Palestinian state, possibly also declaring that state's borders with Israel to be the 1967 lines (actually, just the Green Line marking the 1949 cease-fire positions). Absent dramatic action by Washington, perhaps 150 or more of the U.N.'s 192 members, including many nominal U.S. allies, will vote in favor.
Will such a resolution actually make any...

Stanley Zir and Susan North (Authors) Tabitha Korol (Editor) We are witness to an event in America that defies comparison in American history. The world is hunting Jews again, and our president, President Obama, has joined the expedition. Is this the legacy we wish to inherit and pass down to our children? We can no longer make rearguard demands when the Lamp of Liberty is about to be extinguished by the leader in the White House.
When I last e-mailed you, I asked, "Where do we go from here, now that Prime Minister Netanyahu seems to be in the cat bird's seat?" I warned, "Don't be fooled, the perch is fragile, especially with our current administration. If we merely look away, we'll find ourselves back in Obama's cage." It is obvious by his recent Israel G8 declaration that Obama has joined forces with Abbas, Hamas and 150 nations worldwide to assail the Israeli Jews until they are driven into the sea. He has now crossed the line from which there is no return. Petitions, sanctions, and withholding appropriations from Congress have proven worthless. We demand action. It is now our time to turn up the heat.

Weiner's In-Laws and the Secret Muslim Brotherhood Connections Revealed By Walid Shoebat and Ben Barrack, FloydReports.com

Was Huma Abedin, the wife of Anthony Weiner and the Deputy Chief of Staff to Hillary Clinton, unaware that her mother was reported as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood? Is it possible she does not know that her brother is tied to the Brotherhood's radical leadership? Did Western media miss what has been revealed in several Arab newspapers, which has remained secret in American government circles?
Al-Liwa Al-Arabi (translated here) claims to have leaked an extensive list of members of the Brotherhood's secret women's division, which is known alternately as the Muslim Sisterhood or the International Women's Organization (IWO). This detailed list was partially published by Al Jazeera and several other major Arab newspapers. And it included Huma's mother, Saleha Abedin.

Four ATF Agents Contradict Justice Department Account on "Fast and Furious" By Jonathan Strong, The Daily Caller

Four Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agents in transcribed interviews with top GOP oversight official Darrell Issa's office are contradicting the Justice Department's account of "Operation Fast and Furious," saying hundreds of weapons -- including assault rifles and military-grade sniper weapons -- were allowed to escape into the clutches of Mexican drug cartels in an apparently reckless investigative strategy.
Their testimony raises the question of whether Ronald Weich, a deputy to Attorney General Eric Holder, lied to congressional investigators in a Feb. 4 letter denying the allegations. Weich is testifying before Issa's committee.... |

King hearing today on radicalization in prisons
Today U.S. Rep. Peter King is conducting his second hearing on Islamic radicalization, this one focused on a very serious problem, radicalization in our prison system.
On June 13th our friends at the Center for Security Policy issued the press release below, drawing attention to the recent study showing how prevalent jihadist materials are in a representative sample of American mosques.
This raises a very important question: How frequently are these same kinds of materials being used in our prison system? Which begs the next question: Why should materials calling for jihad be allowed in our prison system at all?
Violence-Positive Texts Incubate Jihad in
Mosques; Congress Needs to Ensure They Do Not
Do the Same in Federal Prisons
Washington, DC, June 13, 2011 - Chairman Peter King has just announced the witnesses who will appear on June 15th before the House Homeland Security Committee as part of a series of hearings on radicalization of the Muslim-American community. The Center for Security Policy respectfully suggests that one of the lines of questioning for the past and present law enforcement officials* called to testify about "The Threat of Muslim-American Radicalization in U.S. Prisons" must be an inquiry into permitted print and video materials that may contribute to jihadist recruitment and indoctrination inside federal penal institutions.
Such materials were used in a new peer-reviewed study published last week in the highly respected journal Middle East Quarterly (MEQ) as indicators of jihadist sentiment and proselytization in a random sample of 100 American mosques. This study, which is entitled Shari'a and Violence in American Mosques, involved the collection of empirical data through repeated on-site investigations over several years. It established that 81% of U.S. mosques had the cited materials on the premises. The study also found that in over 84% of the mosques surveyed, the imam recommended texts advocating violent jihad.
The seven texts featured in the MEQ analysis are illustrative of the body of hate-mongering, supremacist literature and films used by shariah-adherent Muslims to inculcate in targeted populations their call to violent jihad:
1. Al-Nawawi's Riyad-us Saliheen (Gardens of the Righteous)
2. Maududi's Jihad in Islam
3. al-Misri's Umdat al-Salik (The Reliance of the Traveller)
4. Maududi's Tafhim al-Qur'an (The Meaning of the Qur'an)
5. Saabiq's Fiqh-us-Sunnah (The Book on Acts of Worship)
6. Tafsir Ibn Kathir
7. Qutb's Ma'alim fi'l-Tariq (Milestones)
[Click the links above to read more about each book, including PDFs of the full text, notes on each texts' availability, and more.]
Frank J. Gaffney, Jr., President of the Center for Security Policy, said today:
The materials advocating violent jihad found in the vast majority of American mosques surveyed in the Middle East Quarterly study have reportedly also been made available in American prisons nationwide. If so, there is every reason to believe they will contribute significantly to the radicalization of inmates.
The House Homeland Security Committee's hearing on Wednesday is an opportunity to amplify and inform the public debate over the national security implications of jihadist texts that are found in both America's mosques and prisons - and to set the stage for addressing the seditious actions they are designed to foment.
Illustrative quotes from these materials include:
From Maududi's Jihad in Islam: "Islam wishes to destroy all States and Governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and programme of Islam regardless of the country or the Nation which rules it. The purpose of Islam is to set up a State on the basis of its own ideology and programme, regardless of which Nation assumes the role of the standard bearer of Islam or the rule of which nation is undermined in the process of the establishment of an ideological Islamic State."
From Qutb's Milestones: "If someone does this [prevents others from accepting Islam], then it is the duty of Islam to fight him until either he is killed or until he declares his submission." (Chapter 4).
From Qutb's Milestones: "But any place where the Islamic Shari'ah is not enforced and where Islam is not dominant becomes the home of Hostility (Dar-ul-Harb) for both the Muslim and the Dhimmi. A Muslim will remain prepared to fight against it, whether it be his birthplace or a place where his relatives reside or where his property or any other material interests are located." (Chapter 9)
The full text of the Middle East Quarterly article can be found at http://www.meforum.org/2931/american-mosques. Additional resources may be found at www.mappingsharia.com.
* Witnesses at the second of the Homeland Security Committee's Radicalization hearings will be: Patrick Dunleavy, Retired Deputy Inspector, Criminal Intelligence Unit, New York Department of Correctional Services; Kevin Smith, a former Assistant United States Attorney for the Central District of California; and Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Michael Downing, Commanding Officer, Counter-Terrorism and Special Operations Bureau.

Will this be the BIGGEST SCANDAL in DC History?
Issa Report: ATF Agents In 'State Of Panic' Over Gunrunner Program
The Obama administration handed over documents on a controversial anti-gunrunning program run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) just ahead of a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing Wednesday chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA).
Some of the documents showed that agents working on Project Gunrunner didn't intend for weapons that were supposed to be tracked in an effort to prosecute larger kingpins of gun trafficking operations to actually cross the border.
"We have no plans of letting any firearms (with or without a tracker) cross from the U.S. into Mexico," ATF Agent David Voth wrote in an email on April 23, 2010.
Last night, Issa and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) issued a scathing joint report on Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious that included testimony from ATF agents who said they voiced their concerns about the tactics to their superiors but were ignored. Issa's spokesman said that the committee was receiving more information from whistleblowers inside the agency.

Supreme Court reinstates collective bargaining law
June 15, 2011
Chuck Tennessen, a 35-year veteran teacher from Mineral Point, stands silent holding a shame sign moments after the Wisconsin Supreme Court came down with its ruling.
June 14, 2011
Madison - Acting with unusual speed, the state Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the reinstatement of Gov. Scott Walker's controversial plan to end most collective bargaining for tens of thousands of public workers.
The court found that a committee of lawmakers was not subject to the state's open meetings law, and so did not violate that law when it hastily approved the collective bargaining measure in March and made it possible for the Senate to take it up. In doing so, the Supreme Court overruled a Dane County judge who had halted the legislation, ending one challenge to the law even as new challenges are likely to emerge.
The changes on collective bargaining will take effect once Secretary of State Doug La Follette arranges for official publication of the stalled bill, and the high court said there was now nothing to preclude him from doing that. La Follette did not return a call Tuesday to say when the law would be published.
The ruling came on lines that have become familiar in recent years for the often divided court.

Obama's job council has experience in one thing -- handing out pink slips
"[P]resident Obama says he's 100% focused these days on creating jobs. So why is he taking advice from a bunch of CEOs whose companies have been shedding jobs for years? In February, Obama chartered the Jobs and Competitiveness Council with a mission of leaving 'no stone unturned' in the search of ways to boost the country's anemic job growth. But you could tell from the start that this council would have trouble even finding those stones, let alone turning them over. After all, Obama stuffed the group full of Fortune 500 CEOs -- General Electric, American Express, DuPont, Time Warner, Eastman Kodak and Xerox, among them. While these may be good companies, they've hardly been roaring engines of job growth. In most cases, in fact, the opposite is true. ... [T]he board is made up of the heads of two big unions, an energy company, a railroad, an airline, a couple investment firms, and the like. Just one business represented on the board -- Facebook -- is a genuine growth company. And the council is all but devoid of the kind of small- and midsize firms responsible for two-thirds of the nation's new jobs. It's little wonder, then, that the list of immediate must-do, job-creating ideas the council came up with -- and outlined in a Monday op-ed signed by GE's Jeff Immelt and AmEx's Ken Chenault -- is so uninspiring. More money to retrain workers? More tax dollars retrofitting commercial buildings to boost energy efficiency? More government loans passed out by the Small Business Administration? That's the best the council could come up with after almost four months' work? ... How about an immediate cut in corporate and capital gains taxes?" --Investor's Business Daily

"We are in the midst of a once-in-a-generation debate about the nature of the welfare state (entitlement versus safety net) and, indeed, of the social contract between citizen and state (e.g., whether Congress can mandate -- compel -- you to purchase whatever it wills). Let's finish that debate. Start with Obama's abysmal stewardship, root it in his out-of-touch social-democratic ideology, and win. That would create the strongest mandate for conservative governance since the Reagan era." --columnist Charles Krauthammer
"Though the cost of gasoline and diesel eased a few cents with the opening of TransCanada's Keystone pipeline, the price of crude oil jumped again [last] week when the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries -- chaired by Iran's oil minister, Mohammad Aliabadi -- rejected any increase in production. And of course, the U.S. still has no strategic energy policy. Little of this news garnered much interest from America's political princes and media elites [last] week." --columnist Oliver North
"Because we are so out of practice at condemning even utterly shameful conduct, we look for security in law. 'Remember,' a constituent cautioned, '[Anthony Weiner] has broken no laws. He has not used campaign funds...' Ah, well, that's all right then. Weiner himself, explaining his decision not to resign, said, 'I don't believe that I (did) anything that violates any law or any rule.' Is legality the only relevant standard? The question is not whether Weiner deserves to go to jail, but whether he merits the honor of holding elective office. And actually, Weiner is mistaken on the matter of rules. According to the rules of the House of Representatives, members are required to conduct themselves at all times in 'a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.' Anyone think this is a close call?" --columnist Mona Charen
"The problem is that Weinergate goes to the heart of the Democrats' cultural liberalism. Try as they might to disown him, he embodies the party's moral rot. Mr. Weiner is a progressive crusader. He has championed almost every secular leftist cause. ... The result has been a coarsening of our culture, the breakdown of the family and the disintegration of a moral consensus. Mr. Weiner is simply a product of modern liberalism -- self-absorbed narcissism combined with an obsession for sexual gratification." --columnist Jeffrey T. Kuhner

The Demo-gogues
The BIG Exaggeration: "Today the single most serious economic problem we face is getting people back to work. We stabilized the economy, we prevented a financial meltdown, an economy that was shrinking is now growing. We've added more than 2 million private sector jobs over the last 15 months alone. But -- I'm still not satisfied. I will not be satisfied until everyone who wants a good job that offers some security has a good job that offers security. I won't be satisfied until the empty store fronts in town are open for business again. I won't be satisfied until working families feel like they're moving forward again, that they're progressing again. That's what drives me every day when I walk down to the oval office." --Barack Obama
"We were able to, under President Obama's leadership, turn this economy around." --congresswoman and DNC head Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL)
Patting himself on the back: "Targeting waste and making government more efficient have been a priority for my administration since day one. But as we work to tackle the budget deficit, we need to step up our game. ... No amount of waste is acceptable. Not when it's your money; not at a time when so many families are already cutting back." --Barack Obama
Not a laughing matter: "Shovel-ready was not as, uh, shovel-ready as we expected." --Barack Obama in North Carolina making light of his shovel-ready lie

Dezinformatsia
Upside down "logic": "[A]t the moment there's a pretty good case that there is a kind of Laffer curve in which more is less and less is more. Namely, there's a good case that fiscal stimulus right now would actually improve the long-run fiscal situation, while fiscal austerity makes it worse." --New York Times columnist Paul Krugman
Saying Americans just don't get it: "A recent poll shows that a majority of voters -- a majority of whom don't really know anything about the economy -- don't believe that the economy is recovering and blame President Obama for the struggling economy." --MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell
Race bait: "There's also an economist at the University of Michigan who has studied diversity and decision making and has found that in every business decision diversity leads to better decisions. In other words, a group of all white men are not going to reach the best decisions." --ABC's Claire Shipman
Straw man: "I'm not going to show up at the polls pretending to be Michelle Obama or Oprah Winfrey. That does not happen and that is what this Voter ID law purports happens, but it doesn't happen." --Atlanta Journal-Constitution editor Cynthia Tucker
Sympathy for the devil: "Excuse me for asking, but why exactly should Anthony Weiner resign? He flirted with women in a crude, dorky and easily traceable way. And he lied about it, which is what married men usually do in such circumstances. Who cares? As far as we know, he violated no law or congressional ethics rule. There's been no allegation of sexual harassment. It's entirely possible that his constituents would reelect him if given the chance. So why is he being hounded from office?" --The Daily Beast's Peter Beinart
Circling the wagons: "You won't meet any smarter people in politics than those two guys. Just won't." --Time Magazine's Mark Halperin on Eliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner

He's just so smart: "I see the sadness and worry that's creasing his face. He reads every word, every memo, so he is better prepared than the people briefing him. This man doesn't take a day off." --Michelle Obama
Nothing to see here: "The president feels, we feel at the White House this is a distraction. As Congressman Weiner has said himself, his behavior was inappropriate, dishonesty was inappropriate. But the president is focused on his job which is getting this economy continuing to grow, creating jobs and ensuring the safety and security of the American people. ... We think it's a distraction from the important business that this president needs to conduct and Congress needs to conduct." --White House Press Secretary Jay Carney
Hollywood excuses: "My thought on Weiner is that he is a very busy man. Like most, although not all, politicians, he probably spends a great deal of time going to meetings, raising campaign funds and seizing upon every opportunity to remind people of how great he is as a public servant and a human being. It's exhausting. ... Like other politicians, he needs something to take the edge off. ... Weiner is the modern, high functioning man. ... Appointment sex with your spouse doesn't always arrive when you need it most." --actor Alec Baldwin
Gun grabber lies: "Your grandfather's shotgun has no place in today's civilian gun market. The gun industry has created a unique American civilian firearms bazaar which arms thousands of criminals, dangerous extremists, and drug traffickers throughout the world. If Congress wants to find the real causes of the gun traffic to Mexico, it needs to look upstream to the gun industry's callous transformation of the American gun market into one more suited to warfare than sport. The world's bad guys come here for their guns because they are cheap and plentiful." --Tom Diaz, Senior Policy Analyst at the Violence Policy Center
Short Cuts
"What America needs desperately today is massive economic growth. That's what will pay off our debt, sustain our entitlements and continue to improve the environment. Almost as important, it will annoy all the right people." --columnist Jonah Goldberg
"Obama was in Toledo to 'celebrate' the sale of the government's remaining stake in Chrysler to Fiat. That's 'Fiat' as in the Italian car manufacturer rather than 'an authoritative or arbitrary decree (from the Latin "let it be done"),' which would be almost too perfect a name for an Obamafied automobile. ... This is Main Street, Obamaville: All bumps, no road. But shimmering on the distant horizon, beyond the shuttered diner and the foreclosed homes, is a state-of-the-art electric car, the new Fiat Mirage, that should be wheeling into town in a half-decade or so provided it can find somewhere to charge." --columnist Mark Steyn
"The N.Y. Supreme Court ruled to allow a Times Square street vendor to sell condoms with the president's image on the packet. Everyone's buying them. Half the country wants to be protected by President Obama while the other half wants to be protected from President Obama." --comedian Argus Hamilton
"President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner have agreed to play a round of golf together. Imagine the two of them at the end of that golf game? Boehner will be crying over his score and Obama will be giving three explanations as to why his score is actually better than it appears." --comedian Jay Leno

Tea Party News Wednesday, June 15th
The Supreme Court of Wisconsin reinstates the collective bargaining law | Dane County Circuit Court Judge Maryann Sumi exceeded her authority when she issued a May 26 order invalidating the legislation, the high court ruled yesterday. The judge had ruled the measure was created in apparent violation of the state's open meetings law. The Supreme Court's justices invoked "original jurisdiction" over the dispute because "one of the courts that we are charged with supervising has usurped the legislative power." A first-term Republican, Walker signed the legislation on March 11. It requires annual recertification votes for public employees' union representation and makes their payment of membership dues voluntary. Firefighters and police officers are exempt. Under the new law, state workers would contribute 5.8 percent of their salaries toward pensions and pay 12.6 percent of their health-insurance costs. Democrats and organized labor opposed the legislation as an attack on worker rights. Opponents protested inside and outside the state capitol for almost four weeks. ** VIDEO ** of Greta Van Susteren's interview
Marco Rubio's Maiden Speech before the Senate
| ** VIDEO ** of On The Record interview - "Our people are as great as they've ever been. Americans haven't forgotten how to create jobs or run out of ideas. But we do have a broken government. Our tax code is complicated and burdensome and difficult to predict so people are scared to invest. Our regulations are strangling job creators. The hoops of trying to start a business in America are significant. "Our constitution also gave us a republic. This Republic was designed to limit government's ability to do things. The framers and founders didn't want us to have a very active government. They thought the government's job was to protect our rights. What happened in our country would be what our people did. You get disappointed because you know it is the opportunity cost of it. We have a chance. The world is coming in our direction. We have a chance for the 21st century to be better than the 20th. There are more people around the world than ever before that can afford to buy the things that Americans can invent, build and sell. We have to have an economy that can do that, that the government is not impeding the American people. I'm frustrated they are missing an opportunity to craft the new American century. Ron Paul shows he's only real GOP choice | If the debate in New Hampshire proved anything, it proved this: Texas Rep. Ron Paul is the only person worth the party's embrace. A consistent, principled conservative, Paul's answers to questions were erudite and well-informed. Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann got some applause when she declared "President Obama will be a one-term president." But since it's unlikely -- depending of course on the economy, unemployment and geopolitical events -- that any of the people on the stage Monday can beat Obama, why shouldn't Republicans nominate their most stalwart champion? While other candidates discussed Rep. Paul Ryan's plans to reform Medicare, Paul drew a harder line. "It can't be made solvent. It has to change." While most candidates said they'd wait to find out what "combatant commanders" thought about war before deciding whether to withdraw troops -- Paul said: "I wouldn't wait for my generals. I'm the commander-in-chief." Is there even a debate here? Paul has not only embraced the classic Republican stance on issues, he's been consistent about it. Boehner warns Obama that Libya will violate war powers
Could impeachment be on the table?
House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, sent President Obama a letter Tuesday afternoon warning him that the operation in Libya will be violating the War Powers Resolution by this Sunday, which marks the 90th day of U.S. military involvement in the country.
Boehner wants "a clear explanation of the legal standing under the War Powers Resolution," that Obama is using to justify continuing the operations behind Sunday.

Bernanke warns of crisis if debt limit not raised
Fed Chair says crisis if we don't go deeper in debt
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke warned on Tuesday that a failure to lift the government's $14.3 trillion debt ceiling risks a potentially disastrous loss of confidence in America's creditworthiness.
In comments that could give fresh impetus to talks on raising the legal limit on the nation's debt, Bernanke said the United States could lose its prized AAA credit rating and the U.S. dollar's special status as a reserve currency might be damaged if Congress fails to act soon.

Obama on congresswoman: You want her in your foxhole because she's charming, has a cute smile
Charming like a hemroid
President Barack Obama said yesterday that you would want Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D.-Fla.) "on your side" because "she's got a cute smile," and you would want her "in your foxhole" because "not only is she charming" but she has a "dazzling smile," and is "tough as nails."
Obama spoke of Wasserman Schultz, who also chairs the Democratic National Committee, at two separate fundraising events in Miami on Monday. Wasserman Schultz's congressional district includes parts of Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

Court allows Wisconsin union law to take effect
State Supreme Court rules in-favor 4-3
The Wisconsin Supreme Court handed Republican Gov. Scott Walker a major victory on Tuesday, ruling that a polarizing union law could take effect that strips most public employees of their collective bargaining rights.
In a 4-3 decision, the court ruled that Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi overstepped her authority when she said Republican lawmakers violated the state's open meetings statutes in the run-up to passage of the legislation and declared the law void.

A Showdown over the War in Libya
F
or the past three months, the United States has been engaged in a war in Libya, and during that time Congress has remained largely in the dark and on the sidelines about central questions in the conflict, all while U.S. forces remain committed without congressional authorization. Yesterday, Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) sent a letter to President Barack Obama warning that the commander in chief may be in violation of the law if he refuses to ask Congress for that authorization.

On Wednesday's Program
Obamanomics: no jobs because of ATMs?
President Obama was asked in an interview why 'he' hasn't been able to 'convince' more companies to hire more employees. The obvious answer is that his plea for companies to 'step up and start hiring' rings hollow when he simultaneously raises taxes on companies, making hiring harder to do. But Obama's biggest excuse? All that damn technology - like ATMs - they are making companies too efficient! Yes, that is an actual argument from the President of the United States. Get out the duct tape and listen to Glenn play the interview and react HERE.
The story behind the making of Original Argument
Glenn told the incredible story today behind how his newest book The Original Argument ended up coming to fruition. It's the classic American success story, and believe it or not begins with a bunch of fraternity dudes. A fraternity obsessed with the Federalist Papers? Yup, that actually happened. And the events that unfolded from there - which believe it or not include Wilmington, Ohio - were nothing short of miraculous. Hear Glenn tell the story HERE. Want to know more about Glenn's latest book? Hear award winning acting on radio today by Pat & Stu for an explainer. WATCH.
Can't make it to Israel? How you can watch Restoring Courage...
Glenn would love to see as many people as humanly possible with him in Israel this August, but realizes this is just not in the cards for many people. It's wildly expensive to get over there - but there's another, wildly inexpensive way to be there: GBTV! Visit GBTV.com and subscribe today and you will have a front row seat to Restoring Courage in Jerusalem this August. Get on board and then spread the word to your church, local Tea Party or 9.12 group - and host a viewing party. Israel needs all the support it can get - not only for their sake, but for ours (remember, they are the 'little' Satan, we are the 'great' Satan). If your group is interested in hosting a viewing party - we want to hear from you! Email us at restoringcourage@glennbeck.com.
Surprise cameo on Glenn Beck last night by...Glenn doesn't have many guests on TV or radio for that matter, so it was a bit of a jolt when Glenn came back from break on TV last night and had a brief interaction with a mystery guest whose picture he drew on the chalkboard next to the other GOP Presidential candidates. Who was it? Find out HERE.
GOP gives Obama Libya ultimatum
Finally someone is calling attention to President Obama's war in Libya. The President initially said it was just a 'kinetic military action' that was only going to last a few days - that was months ago. Now, John Boehner has called out President Obama and said he's got to justify the action. Will it matter? Or will this get ignored like a U.N. resolution? Get the details HERE.
Looking for the best steak you'll ever have? Glenn may be on that weird, hippie, vegan diet - but that just means that there's more meat for you! While he's chewing on sticks, you can cook up a great steak on the Platinum Professional grill pan, bundled with a set of four top-quality, stainless steel Messerstahl steak knives. This package would retail for at least $250, but is available today for just $129.95-including all shipping charges. Check out Markdown.com to get this great value now!
Media shocked to learn Palin can read, write
After spending thousands and thousands of man-hours sorting through the much anticipated (only by the media) Sarah Palin emails -- nothing 'juicy' has been found. Not even close. The media fell flat on their face. Now the only thing they can do is apologize. Well, that's what any decent human being would do. What about the media? They've gone the 3rd grade route, expressing shock Palin knows how to read, write. DETAILS
