"We have gone to the capitals of our states and to the capitals of our government.  We have talked to all the power brokers.  The only power broker, the only seat of government that can and will solve this problem with or without us is God.  It is time to return inside the walls that surround Jerusalem and stand with people of all faiths, all around the world," Glenn said in his initial announcement.

"In August, whether I'm there with seven people or 10 people or there alone, I will stand.  I ask you to join me.  I also ask you to take this message globally, to take this to every corner of the earth.  If you have family living overseas, this is not an America solution.  This is a people of faith solution.  This is a people all over the world solution.  I ask you to help get this word out."

RedState

RedState Morning Briefing

For June 9, 2011

1. Debt Limit Surrender

Members of the Tea Party and the conservative movement need to be prepared for some serious disappointment if news reports are correct. News reports have emerged indicating that that "dollar for dollar" cuts to spending promised as part of a grand bargain to increase the debt ceiling may be pro-rated over 10, 20 or even 25 years. It is easy for politicians to promise future cuts to spending when many of these politicians cutting the deal will be long gone from Washington, DC.

Politically this deal is very attractive for incumbents of both parties. A $2.4 trillion debt limit increase would negate the need for a further increase in the debt limit until after the next Congressional and Presidential election. This level of a debt limit increase would protect House and Senate incumbent Republicans and Democrats from any further politically difficult votes before they have to face the voters in November of 2012.

2. Gov. Rick Perry calls for prayer to help our "nation in crisis"

In the Holy Bible, calls for prayer and fasting are frequent responses to dire situations. Yesterday, Texas Governor Rick Perry emulated those Biblical prophets such as Joel in calling for prayer to help address our national crisis. Perry's call for prayer is being directed to a specific event, "The Response," which is to be held in Houston on August 6th.

The web site for The Response explains why this event is needed.

3. Unbelievable! NLRB's Acting General Counsel Opposes Boeing Employees' Legal Involvement

Last week, three Boeing employees, whose jobs are at stake due to the National Labor Relations Board's prosecution of their employer, filed to intervene in the case.

Now, just a few days later, Lafe Solomon has declared that he is opposed to their intervention in the case-even though they stand a good chance of losing their jobs due to the union and the NLRB's actions.

4. Register for the RedState Gathering

The Third Annual RedState Gathering is coming up very soon - and we'd like to invite you to attend.

With the race for the GOP presidential nomination shifting into high gear, this much-anticipated annual gathering promises to be the best one yet.

It will be held on August 12-14 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina - and will feature as its keynote speaker South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

5. The Horserace for Thursday, June 9, 2011

Pay attention on this one folks: the link to this post will not work until noon today. But you are definitely going to want to come back and check it out.

With this weekend's Horserace, I'm adding in Giuliani, who Bill Kristol says is days or a couple of weeks from getting into the race. I'm not putting in Rick Perry or Sarah Palin this week, though the implications of them possibly getting in are mentioned.

As always, I put the candidates in alphabetical order. This is, again, my objective take on the candidates based on the news of the week and how I see things shaping up based on conversations with various operatives, activists on the ground, donors, etc.

Which major candidate's campaign is disintegrating? Which candidate could be setting himself up not to win, but to hurt Romney? Click the link at noon eastern time today to find out.

In a teary voice, tell the story of how it was General Douglas MacArthur who turned the Japanese on to whale meat.

The Japs never used to touch the stuff until the American Occupation after the war when food was scarce and MacArthur decreed that all Japanese children should eat whale meat as a cheap source of protein. Pause for effect, dab your eyes with a handkerchief, then say: "Damn! Doesn't it just make you SO proud to be American? It's thanks to our noble example that the seven seas are now nearly 100 percent free of the Deadly Whale Menace."

Soldiers' $2,800 in bag fees spark outrage

One of the men featured in the YouTube video said he was "not happy at all" about the experience.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • NEW: Delta boosts checked bag allowances for military after uproar
  • Incident sparks outrage after soldiers speak out in a video posted on YouTube
  • The men say they had to pay out of pocket for fourth piece of luggage
  • The men say it happened on a flight a day after they returned from Afghanistan

(CNN) -- Stung by online comments calling it "disgusting" and "un-American," Delta Air Lines on Wednesday announced it will allow U.S. military personnel traveling on orders to check more bags for free.

The policy change, which is effective immediately, came a day after U.S. Army soldiers returning from Afghanistan complained that they were charged almost $3,000 in bag fees by the carrier.

"We regret that this experience caused these soldiers to feel anything but welcome on their return home," wrote Rachael Rensink, manager of Delta Social Media, in an updated post on the carrier's blog.

Debunking the Democrats' Israel Counter-Offensive

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency is reporting today that the Democratic Party is in the process of launching a major counter-offensive designed to quash the general perception that President Obama is not a stalwart friend of Israel. According to the Democrats, the whole idea of a conflict between Obama and Israel is a myth propagated by the Republicans as part of their perennial futile chase for Jewish votes.

But unlike previous elections when the Democrats were able to mock GOP efforts to portray themselves as better friends to Israel than their opponents, the evidence for a split between Jerusalem and Washington is more than an assertion by the Republican Jewish Coalition. It was the plain fact that three times in the last three years, President Obama has picked a public fight with the government of Israel. That doesn't mean Republicans are saying that all Democrats are anti-Israel, as the Democrats have claimed they did in the past. The bi-partisan standing ovations given Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his address to Congress illustrated gives the lie to any such charge.

Yale's latest gift to anti-semitism

June 6, 2011

Yale University last week killed the Yale Initiative for the Interdisciplin ary Study of Antisemitism -- the only program of its kind in the country, an academically stellar one-stop anti-Semitism research shop. Worse, it almost certainly did so because YIISA refused to ignore the most virulent, genocidal and common form of Jew-hatred today: Muslim anti-Semitism.

Act! for America

News Report: Chapter Leader challenges inaccurate textbook!!

Yesterday, CBN News aired a two minute story about ACT! for America chapter leader Michael Hayutin's challenge to a public school textbook and its treatment of Islam. Well done Michael!!

When you view the segment here note what the Muslim woman says about a peaceful verse coming after a verse about war.

Does she really know what the Qur'an teaches? Is she practicing taqiyya (deception)? Does she understand the doctrine of abrogation?

Islamic scholars are generally agreed that over 120 peaceful verses in the Qur'an were abrogated, or annulled, and replaced by later verses that call for jihad, war and violence against "infidels." The peaceful verses relate predominately to the Meccan period of Mohammend's life, while the warlike verses relate to the Medinan period, which occurred after Mohammed migrated from Mecca to Medina.

This is why our planned event this fall, "The Doctrine of Abrogation: Open the Qur'an Day," is so important. (Note: We will be posting a sign-up page to host this event in your community on our website later this summer.)

This also illustrates why a year-long project being conducted by our "sister" organization, ACT! for America Education (formerly known as American Congress for Truth), is so timely.

This fall we will mail a report to every one of the nearly 50,000 school board members in America, a report analyzing the errors in the way Islam is presented in 38 public school textbooks.

Once we have done that, we will post the report on our website and urge our chapter leaders and members to turn out to their school board meetings and demand that action be taken to correct the numerous and egregious errors we have uncovered.

So stay tuned!

Muslim Woman Seeks to Revitalize the Institution of Sex-Slavery

Posted by Raymond Ibrahim on Jun 6th, 2011

Raymond Ibrahim is associate director of the Middle East Forum and author of The Al Qaeda Reader. He is also the editor of The Muslim Persecution of Christians blog featured at FrontPageMag.com

Last week witnessed popular Muslim preacher Abu Ishaq al-Huwaini boast about how Islam allows Muslims to buy and sell conquered infidel women, so that "When I want a sex-slave, I go to the market and pick whichever female I desire and buy her."

This week's depraved anachronism comes from a Muslim woman-political activist and former parliamentary candidate for Kuwait's government, Salwa al-Mutairi: She, too, seeks to "revitalize the institution of sex-slavery."

A brief English summary appeared in the Kuwait Times (nothing, of course, in the MSM):

Tea Party News

Piers Morgan

Ann Coulter
if
Tea Party

Modern Version
of
Hitler and Mussolini's

Photo of Ann Coulter

Picture of Piers Morgan
COULTER: No, they're much closer to the original Tea Party, which, and actually not as, not as much of a rabble as the original Tea Party, which as I point out, the Founding Fathers weren't wild about the original Tea Party curiously enough because they were so against mobs.
Having equated the Tea Party to Hitler and Mussolini's "mob," Morgan moved in another predictable liberal media direction - Tea Partiers are idiots.
But the best was still to come, as now that Morgan had failed at besmirching the Tea Party, it was on to desparaging one of their most famous supporters:
MORGAN: The way you talk as your publisher does here, "Liberals use mobs to seize power and impose their theories on the populace for the good of humanity." I think Sarah Palin would have written that, who whether you like it or not is irrelevant, is a brilliant rouser of the populous, like nothing else in politics right now. After Obama himself and his last election, she is doing an incredible job marshaling her base. But she also comes out with some pretty inflammatory stuff and that surely arouses a mob mentality. You wouldn't dispute that.
COULTER: I don't think she's inflammatory. I think she's a great speaker. What do you think she said that is inflammatory? [NewsBusters, June 8]      Click here for the source story

Pawlenty's economic plan
seeks
5 pct
annual
growth

Photo of Tim Pawlenty

The former Minnesota governor's plan aims for a bullish 5 percent annual growth that would balance the federal budget while forgoing trillions of dollars in tax revenue.
"Growing at 5 percent a year rather than the current level of 1.8 percent would net us millions of new jobs, trillions of dollars in new wealth, put us on a path to saving our entitlement programs."
Pawlenty's plan also would simplify individual tax rates to just three options and cut taxes on business by more than half. His cuts go further than House Republicans' recent proposal, which the Tax Policy Center said would cost about $2.9 trillion over the next decade.
He said he wants to cut business taxes from the current rate from 35 percent to 15 percent, and he called for dismantling vast pieces of the government. [GOPUSA, June 8]      Click here for the source story

Bus Tour

Iowa Tea Party Revolution graphic
Five Republican contenders -- Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Gary Johnson, and Rick Santorum -- have signed on to participate in a Tea Party bus tour through Iowa,
"The purpose of the tour is to train grassroots activists in the state of Iowa to get them as prepared as they're going on and best advocate for the candidate of their choice," Ryan Rhodes, the tour's organizer, told ABC News.
The main focus of the tour will involve training on precinct organization, distributing a mock caucus video explaining the process, and educating people on the Tea Party principles and the gold standard. Organizers hope to train 500 to 1,000 individuals over the course of three weeks.

Ginni Thomas: Tea Party
Must Mesh
With GOP
for 2012 Clout

Picture of Ginni Thomas
"I think it's important that both the tea party movement and grass-roots activists come together with the establishment and we see as little division as possible," said Thomas, a special correspondent for The Daily Caller. "In order to have the most success, we need to build bridges between the establishment conservative community and the Republican community and the grass-roots community. I hope together we can have an effective force in 2012."
I think there needs to be greater effort by I would say Sen. [Mitch] McConnell and Speaker [John] Boehner and their teams," she said. "They need to reach out more effectively to the tea party movement and be comfortable with new people coming to the movement as opposed to seeing them as some alien force that's hostile or offensive in any way. I think this should be one big happy family, and there's some growing pains around the edges right now that I hope can be fixed."
Regarding the crop of GOP presidential hopefuls, Thomas said Herman Cain "has gotten the attention of the grass roots."
"I think they're watching for Michele Bachmann, whether Jim DeMint would get it, that would be exciting. I don't have a dog in the fight, and I really want the most conservative candidate to prevail in the end. And I want to see as little friction between all the players of our team so we can success." Washington Times Columnist Raises Impeachment Over Libya
By Ben Johnson, The White House Watch

Once again, the conservative movement is trying to play catch-up to this website. First, this author discovered that Barack Obama hauled Arizona before the United Nations over its immigration law. Some big media outlets eventually caught up -- albeit without giving a shred of credit. Then they took notice of our expose that Obama considers Card Check an inalienable human right. The conservative media began to pick up on Obama's decision to end-run the Constitution months after this author wrote multiple articles revealing Obama's plan to rule by executive fiat in 2011.

Now, conservatives are getting a glimmer that perhaps there is something a wee bit unacceptable about Obama's war-by-decree on Libya....

Documents Prove Obama's Parents' Marriage a Sham
By Jerome R. Corsi, WND.com

NEW YORK - The recently released immigration file for Barack Obama Sr. indicates the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service had doubts he and Obama's mother were married.

While Ann Dunham may have sought Obama Sr. as her husband and the father of her child, the record suggests the two never lived together as a married couple.

As WND reported, there's no record of Ann Dunham's whereabouts during the last six months of her pregnancy.

It's the seedy underbelly of Washington, D.C. The hallways of Congress are often dark alleys of wasteful spending and pork-laden deal-making. Down these lanes, shadowy special interests and empire-building bureaucracies lie in wait to relieve innocent taxpayers of their hard-earned money. They spend billions on wasteful programs, pet projects, and the accumulation of personal power. They threaten to bankrupt our country as our national debt soars out of control.

The victims often don't even know it's happening. Many don't realize how bad it is. Do you?

Take the following test to see if you can detect five of the dirty spending secrets Washington doesn't want you to know . . .

Daily Events

Fish, fowl and politicians, they're all in cahoots to kill jobs, say congressional Republicans, who are circling the wagons out West to protect their way of life.

First there's the dune sagebrush lizard that is ganging up with the prairie chickens to halt oil and gas development. It seems that the lizard doesn't like walking across the ground if it has been disturbed by a tractor, or mating near the thump-thump of an oil rig.

Then there's the Delta smelt out in California, it needs billions of gallons of water to survive, causing a man-made drought that is turning farmlands into dust bowls.

And in the Gulf region where oil production is but a trickle of its former self to avoid another blowout that could destroy that environment, job losses are running in the tens of thousands.

"If Salazar's job is to kill jobs, then he gets an A plus," said Rep. Devin Nunes (R. -Calif.). "His department has killed more jobs in the U.S. than any other federal agency."

Nunes and other Republicans say the Interior Department is waging a war against jobs using radical environmental policies as its weapon of choice.

And in some cases, even eco-friendly energy development is getting the cold shoulder.

HUMAN EVENTS takes an in-depth look this week at how the Interior Department, which manages tens of millions of acres of public land, for the public, is instead closing it off to development, damaging the country's already fragile economy.

"You can't make this stuff up," Nunes says.

WSJ: Pawlenty's ambitious plan to return to growth

June 8, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

Tim Pawlenty delivered a major policy speech yesterday on the economy, and both the Wall Street Journal and Larry Kudlow declared themselves impressed. Pawlenty's theme is guaranteed to resonate among the base and with libertarian-minded independents: "Markets work, and Barack Obama's central planning doesn't." Speaking at the University of Chicago, where Pawlenty noted that some of the best minds in free-market economics work, Pawlenty called for government policies that get out of the way of markets and supply, and allow the American economic engine of growth and wealth creation work:

GM CEO: Hey's who's up for a one-dollar hike in federal gas tax?

June 8, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

They don't call it Government Motors for nothing, you know:

General Motors Co. CEO Dan Akerson wants the federal gas tax boosted as much as $1 a gallon to nudge consumers toward more fuel-efficient cars, and he's confident the government will soon shed its remaining 26 percent stake in the once-bankrupt automaker. ...

And while he is eager to say goodbye to the government as a part owner of GM, Akerson would like to see it step up to the challenge of setting a higher gas tax, as part of a comprehensive energy policy.

A government-imposed tax hike, Akerson believes, will prompt more people to buy small cars and do more good for the environment than forcing automakers to comply with higher gas-mileage standards.

"There ought to be a discussion on the cost versus the benefits," he said. "What we are going to do is tax production here, and that will cost us jobs."

By taxing production, Akerson refers to the effort to raise the CAFE standards for average fuel efficiency.  The Obama administration wants to push US automakers to stop producing so-called gas guzzlers, pushing the average efficiency to as high as 62 MPG by 2025.  Akerson says that will add $3500 to the average price of cars, which will put US automakers in poor competitive position against their imported competition.

FCC chairman agrees to strike Fairness Doctrine from rule books

By Gautham Nagesh - 06/08/11

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski said his agency will remove the Fairness Doctrine from the rule books in response to a recent request from House Republicans.

"I fully support deleting the Fairness Doctrine and related provisions from the Code of Federal Regulations, so that there can be no mistake that what has been a dead letter is truly dead," Genachowski wrote in a letter Monday to House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.).

"I look forward to effectuating this change when acting on the staff's recommendations and anticipate that the process can be completed in the near future."

Former DNC Chair Kaine Says Weiner Should Resign

08 Jun 2011

By Martin Gould

Top Democrats have lost patience with scandal-ridden Congressman Anthony Weiner and now are openly demanding that the New York Democrat step down to prevent further embarrassment.

Former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine led the charge. "Lying is unforgivable," he said. "Lying publicly about something like this is unforgivable, and he should resign."

Rush: Weiner Face of Democratic Family Values

07 Jun 2011

By Hiram Reisner

Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh says he hopes Rep. Anthony Weiner never resigns as he is the "poster boy" of what Democrats stand for. Limbaugh also said Tuesday the New York Democrat represents Democrat family values.

"I don't want this guy to go away. Here you have the classic dictionary definition of a nerd, the classic dictionary definition of a pencil-necked geek, and they are telling us that this guy would walk into a bar and women would fall all over themselves to be near the guy," Limbaugh said. "This guy was playboy Numero Uno. He was a womanizer par excellence. This guy, he's such a ladies' man that he had to do all of this womanizing anonymously, sexting.

"Weiner is the face of Democrat family values - he is the epitome of the Democrat culture of corruption, the Democrat culture of erection," Limbaugh said. "He is wrong on policy. He is an admitted liar. He used his office in Congress to conduct his lurid e-perversions. The guy's got it all, and I wholeheartedly endorse the fact that he's not going to resign."

Editorial Exegesis

The Obama recovery

"You've got to hand it to President Obama and his White House economic team. Faced with [Friday's] dreary May jobs report, they did their best and rolled out the old 'bump in the road' analogy for comfort. As chief White House economist Austan Goolsbee put it, 'there are always bumps on the road to recovery, but the overall trajectory of the economy has improved dramatically over the past two years.' Nice try, but there's no way to spin news that the economy in May created only 54,000 new jobs, which is about one-third the number necessary to keep up with the growth in the labor force. The jobless rate rose for the second straight month to 9.1%, which is especially depressing nearly two years after the end of a very deep recession. At this stage in the Reagan expansion, after a comparably deep 1981-82 recession, the economy was growing by 7% a year and the jobless rate was plunging. This time the economy is growing by less than 2%, and we still have 6.8 million fewer jobs than when the recession began in late 2007. ... The same economists and pundits who promoted the economic policies of the last four years are now lamenting the jobs bust and demanding that Washington double down: More stimulus spending, more Federal Reserve easing, more temporary tax rebates. They can't explain why these policies have failed to date, but we are supposed to rinse and repeat. ... The economy doesn't need more of this. It needs a return to the growth agenda that created the long post-1982 boom." --The Wall Street Journal

Upright

"You can only expect a robust economic recovery for so long before you figure out, as Herbert Hoover eventually did, that it is not around the corner. Exogenous factors explain some part of the current economic stagnation. The earthquake and tsunami in Japan caused a slowdown in manufacturing. Horrendous tornados did not help. Nor did bad weather, though only a few still bitterly cling to the theory that it's caused by manmade global warming. But poor public policy is surely one reason why the American economy has not rebounded from recession as it has in the past. And political posturing has also played a major role." --political analyst Michael Barone

"Many in the GOP of today are fatally underestimating the power of today's mainstream media and how effective they can be in helping Team Obama win a second term. A myth has taken hold in the GOP: that because of the Internet, the explosion of conservative bloggers and the still-substantial power of talk radio, that the mainstream media have been marginalized. Bull-feathers. That's just ridiculous and is believed by those who don't have a clue about what real Americans have to deal with every day in their real lives." --columnist Douglas MacKinnon

"Healing is a term that has been co-opted from the emotive, liberal, psychobabble crowd and misapplied by politicians to serious situations so often that it has lost any semblance of meaning. ... It is impossible to heal a community suffering from the devastation of a tornado or any other disaster. ... Politicians do not have the power to remove the experience or the suffering. They only have the power to direct resources that alleviate the problem, but do not erase the problem. To think otherwise is pure hubris." --columnist Tom Roberson

"Liberals always cater to man's lowest base instincts. They hate standards for behavior, labeling all rebuke of bad behavior as being intolerant and judgmental. And yet, they believe without divine influence, man is capable of someday achieving universal peace. Totally absurd." --singer, songwriter and columnist Lloyd Marcus

The Demo-gogues

Pride and hubris: "Now, my administration has a job to do as well, and that job is to get this economy back on its feet. That's my job, and it's a job I gladly accept. I love these folks who helped get us in this mess and then suddenly say, well, this is Obama's economy. That's fine. Give it to me." --Barack Obama

If at first you don't succeed... "The unemployment numbers are obviously disturbing. Are they an anomaly as some people suggest because of the disasters in the South and the Midwest and the rest, or is this something systemic that we have to accommodate in a different way?" --House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)

The BIG Lie: "What the president has done has improved the situation from where it may have been." --Nancy Pelosi

Let's don't: "Let's allow our unions and their organizers to lift up this country's middle class again. We can do that." --Barack Obama

Class warfare: "What we are fighting for -- and I'm a member of the Budget Committee -- is the concept of shared sacrifice. No, you don't balance the budget on the backs of the sick and the elderly and the poor and the vulnerable. You do ask the wealthiest people in this country and the large corporations -- many of whom are making huge profits and paying nothing in taxes -- that they've got to contribute to deficit reduction as well." --Sen. Bernie Sanders (S-VT), the only admitted socialist in Congress

Over the top: "[I]f you go back to the year 2000, when we had an obvious disaster and saw that our voting process needed refinement, and we did that in the America Votes Act and made sure that we could iron out those kinks, now you have the Republicans, who want to literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws and literally -- and very transparently -- block access to the polls to voters who are more likely to vote Democratic candidates than Republican candidates. And it's nothing short of that blatant." --Rep. and DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), who needs to look up the definition of "literally"

Sticking it out: "I am deeply regretting what I have done, and I am not resigning. I am deeply sorry for the pain this has caused Huma, my wife, and my family." --Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) on the Twitter photo scandal that has plagued him for the last two weeks

Dezinformatsia

Delusional spin: "You know better than anybody what it was like particularly in the south of this country in 1965. But I think what it shows is what the Republicans mean when they say they want to take back America. Yeah, they want to take America back to 1965, if not to 1950 before Brown v. Board of Education." --radio talk-show host Bill Press to Al Sharpton (Conservative policy has nothing to do with racism, other than eliminating it. It has to do with restoring liberty and Rule of Law.)

"[Monday's press conference] was a masterful performance. I thought [Anthony Weiner] was very contrite; he was very direct; he let people ask him a lot of very tough, personal questions. ... It's going to be used by crisis management trainers for businessmen who have done something wrong." --MSNBC's Chrystia Freeland on the Weiner Twitter scandal

False choice: "Obviously the momentum has been with the debt reduction crowd, so to speak. Is that at the expense of real huge effort on job creation? In other words, what's more toxic, billions of dollars of stimulus, or these kind of unemployment numbers?" --ABC's Christiane Amanpour

Sympathy for the devil: "This looks like one of those things you read about in third-world countries or in India or somewhere or Pakistan, where they get someone who's been out of office a couple of years, get them while they're down, hit them with some incredible charge with campaign funding that nobody's ever heard of before and put them away for a while. It just looks like revenge against the party -- against somebody that lost an election." --MSNBC's Chris Matthews on John Edwards

Village Idiots

The spin machine: "It is not a 'jobless recovery.' That is an incorrect phrase. After the last recession, in this comparable period post-recession, we had lost 100,000 jobs. We have added more than 200,000 jobs. There's a major difference between a jobless recovery and a very deep hole that were climbing out of. ... We've come a million miles from the moment that the president took office." --outgoing White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee

No surprise from Hollywood: "Overall, I think [Barack Obama has] done an extraordinary job. I think he's going to go down probably as one of our great presidents. He's been able to juggle -- let's think of all of the problems that he's had in his presidency. You know, natural disasters, or international issues, domestic. He has found a way to change and flow to learn from every situation. ... He engages on a personal level almost every day. We're coming out of this terrible economic crisis. We're turning the corner on terrorist situations. I think his engagement with the Chinese is starting to flower now, the strength within him is starting to emerge. I think he's doing a terrific job." --actor Richard Gere

The tolerant Left: "Surely it's time for climate-change deniers to have their opinions forcibly tattooed on their bodies. ... On second thoughts, maybe the tattooing along the arm is a bit Nazi-creepy. ... OK, maybe the desire to see the painful, thrashing death of one's opponents is not ideal. But, my God, these people are frustrating." --columnist Richard Glover

Short Cuts

"Unless America gets back to buying military ships, planes and vehicles soon, the industries that provide these goods will dry up and blow away. Then, when the next war comes, we'll be back to 1917: anxious to spend billions, but no place to spend them. Well, maybe the Chinese will sell us something." --Heritage Foundation's James Jay Carafano

"The House of Representatives voted not to raise the debt ceiling. But as the debt ceiling subsides -- or, at any rate, stays put -- we see the dreary steeple of Anthony Weiner emerging from his Twitpic crotch shot. ... Confronted by his Twitpic, one is tempted to channel Mae West: Is that a debt-ceiling increase in your Fruit of the Looms or are you just pleased to see me? Alas for America, it's both." --columnist Mark Steyn

"The White House says that the unemployment rate is good news because it means more people are looking for jobs. More good news like that, and everyone at the White House will be looking for jobs." --comedian Jay Leno

"U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz accused the Republicans of trying to make it a crime to be an illegal immigrant. She sees a conspiracy. First Republicans want to say that illegal aliens are illegal, then next they're going to want to take away their voting rights." --comedian Argus Hamilton

Democrat Leader Operated Abortion Clinic

Tuesday, June 07, 2011

If there were any question what type of blood runs through the veins of the Democrat party, this piece should answer that question. Abortion money is the life-blood of the Democrat party.

Not only were the Democrats willing to shut down the entire federal government to keep taxpayer money flowing to Planned Parenthood; not only is the Obama administration willing to cut off Medicaid funding for millions of poor people in Indiana to keep the money flowing to Planned Parenthood; but now in a shocking development, we find that the Congresswoman selected by the Democrat party to recruit candidates for Congress founded, owned, and operated an abortion clinic.

My co-blogger Matthew Archbold has a report at Creative Minority Report that details how Rep. Allyson Schwartz of Pennsylvania, who has been tapped to run candidate services for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, owned and operated a business that butchered babies and women.

Americans Rising Up Against Agenda 21

There are now six communities across the nation that have taken action against Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development. The following have revoked their contracts with the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI): Starting in February, 2011, Carroll County, Maryland, where all five newly elected county commissioners, led by Richard Rothschild, voted to become the first county in the nation to end the ICLEI contract; then came Amador County, California, where the successful effort to remove ICLEI was led by the Mother Lode Tea Party; followed by a successful effort in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, led by activists Ruth Miller and Maggie Roddin; then came Edmond, Oklahoma, where activist Molly Jenkins was able to stir things up, generating 200 people to flood the city council meeting to demand action against ICLEI; Then came action by civic leaders in Las Cruces, New Mexico, as that community's city council ended its ICLEI contract; finally, in May, in an effort led by City Councilman Roger Nutt, Spartanburg, South Carolina became the 6th community to kick out ICLEI in a vote of 6-0 by City Council (with one abstention). Meanwhile, anti-ICLEI battles are taking place in Titusville, Florida, Cleveland, Tennessee, and Charlottesville, VA (where only one more vote on the Board of Supervisors is needed to end ICLEI's contract); and many more battles are raging across the nation. These efforts are causing shock waves across the country and we are starting to see hear nervous looks and attempts at ridicule against our efforts by ICLEI and EPA leaders. "Extremist" is their favorite attack word. Remember what Gandhi said, "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then we win!" Let 'em laugh. The anti-Sustainable Development revolution has begun.

Attack of the NGOs

One rarely hears of it. Few elected officials raise an eyebrow. The media makes no mention of it. But power is slowly slipping away from our elected representatives. In much the same way Mao Tse-tung had his Red Guards, so the UN has its NGOs They may well be your masters of tomorrow, and you don't even know who or what they are.

There are, in fact, two parallel, complimentary forces operating in the world, working together to advance the global Sustainable Development agenda, ultimately heading toward UN global governance. Those two forces are the UN itself and non-governmental organizations (NGOs.)

Beginning with the United Nations, the infrastructure pushing the Sustainable Development agenda is a vast, international matrix. At the top of the heap is the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP). Created in 1973 by the UN General Assembly, the UNEP is the catalyst through which the global environmental agenda is implemented. Virtually all of the international environmental programs and policy changes that have occurred globally in the past three decades are the result of UNEP efforts... [Click here to read on]

NIMBYS, BANANAS and GREENS

Prices at gas pumps are at some of the highest levels ever and rising. Americans want answers. In particular they want the names and numbers of those to blame. To answer that question perhaps they should simply consult the phone book or look in the mirror. Because the main culprits in the rising gas prices aren't necessarily members of OPEC, but the American people who support policies that block new drilling and the building of new refineries on American soil. It's that simple.

The real political parties in America are the NIMBYs (Not In My Back Yard) and the BANANAs (Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything). These two political forces are driving the future of the nation by dictating the policy agendas of the Republicans and Democrats. Soon, the national bird will no longer be the noble eagle, but the ostrich.

Americans are becoming adolescent children who want towns to remain small, yet they themselves have children who must have schools, jobs and homes of their own. They want to build their homes in rural areas with beautiful vistas, yet complain when someone else wants to do the same thing. They argue that a neighbor's new home has blocked their "view shed," never considering that their home used to be someone else's view shed or open space. Americans support programs to lock away land to keep wilderness pristine, free of human development, power lines and cell towers. Yet they want to use their cell phones and computers wherever they go. They want three car garages to house the family van, the daughter's little bug and the husband's sports car; but don't blight the landscape with filling stations, refineries or power plants... Citizens to Protect PA Jobs

Help Us Bring cost-control and equity to the Unemployment Compensation System!

Last week, we emailed you about vital legislation (H.B. 916) that would help shore up an unemployment compensation system that is flat broke.

Now, we're asking you to email your state senator and representative in support of Senate Bill 1030 - as amended by a state House committee to include some of H.B. 916's provisions - which would bring fairness and cost-control to a UC system that has expanded beyond its established purpose and borrowed nearly $4 billion from the federal government to date to stay afloat.

The insolvency mess threatens taxpayers, as well as business growth and job creation.  That's why we are urging you to join us today in asking your state lawmakers to vote YES on S.B. 1030.

This crisis also threatens a system that is vital for those Pennsylvanians who truly are in need - all while some try to "game" a system designed to be a safety net.  Senate Bill would result in savings of about $137 million by ensuring that the system works as intended.

Just take a look at the lack of accountability in the current UC system:

  • Pennsylvania is the only state in the nation that doesn't require recipients to prove they are actually looking for work.
  • Individuals can collect severance pay and UC benefits at the same time, effectively being able to earn 150 percent of the pay they received while employed.
  • Individuals that are out of work due to their own actions can collect UC benefits because of the lack of a clear definition of willful misconduct.  The entire premise of the UC Law is that benefits should only be paid to individuals who are unemployed through no fault of their own.
  • And, under current law, recipients can feasibly turn down legitimate work in certain circumstances and still collect UC benefits.

S.B. 1030 would restore accountability by, among other commonsense measures, requiring recipients to look for work and reforming the existing severance pay policy.  It would also clearly define detrimental actions by employees that would disqualify them from receiving benefits designed to help those unemployed through no fault of their own.

And, it would give employers options - such as work share programs - to avoid layoffs, keeping more Pennsylvanians employed!

The forces of opposition against commonsense reform bill are strong.  They're fighting hard to preserve the unsustainable status quo.  That's why your grassroots action is so vital today.

Please contact your state senator and representative today and ask them to protect Pa's UC safety net by voting "YES" on S.B. 1030.

Sincerely,

Citizens to Protect PA Jobs

NPR's 2 FALSEHOODS ON E-VERIFY ERROR RATES THAT YOU CAN CORRECT WHEREVER YOU HEAR THEM IN THE FUTURE

We have a blog on our website that deals with huge whoppers
of falsehoods that National Public Radio recently promulgated against E-Verify.

With two Supreme Court rulings in three weeks backing the expansion of E-Verify to drive illegal aliens out of U.S. jobs, the multi-milion-dollar pro-illegal-worker propaganda industry is in full force.

We need you to challenge falsehoods about E-Verify wherever you find them -- with comments on blogs and on-line news items, with phone-ins to radio shows, with letters to the editor in newspapers and with in-person corrections with friends and colleagues.

And please forward this email widely via email, Facebook and Twitter.

We're picking on NPR because it has been getting worse and worse in its coverage of immigration issues. The story in question was about the Supreme Court ruling in favor of Arizona's law requiring all employers to use E-Verify.

Falsehood #1

The correspondent inexplicably said, "Now, E-verify is a sort of a pilot computer-data-check system that Congress specifically made voluntary because about one out of five workers is erroneously reported as illegal because of mistaken name spellings, similar names, things like that."

Congress did not make E-Verify voluntary because of an error rate. E-Verify was originally made voluntary because it was a pilot program. It has remained mostly voluntary against the wishes of American voters because the cheap labor lobby had been incredibly successful at keeping it that way until several states stepped up to the plate. But this is a small mistake compared to the "one out of five" whopper.

Falsehood #2

See quote above about the one-in-five error rate.

The NPR correspondent's approximation of an error rate for E-Verify of 20% isn't even close to the truth.

The percentage of authorized workers run through E-Verify who receive tentative non-confirmations is 0.3 percent (three-tenths of one percent), and has been for at least two and a half years.

Statistics from Fiscal Year 2010, however, indicate that of the 15,640,167 E-Verify cases submitted:

  • 98.3% were automatically confirmed as work authorized,
  • 0.3% were confirmed as work authorized after contesting and resolving an initial nonconfirmationan avenue available to all workers
  • 1.43% were not found work authorized (these would be illegal aliens or legal foreign visitors without a work permit -- the very people E-Verify is designed to keep out of U.S. jobs)

So, to make sure you understand, the so-called error rate is 0.3% which means that less than half of one percent of the people run through the system get a notice that they are not yet approved to work even though it turns out they do have the right to work.

Next, be clear that this 0.3% don't lose their job. Rather, they continue on their job while checking with federal authorities to find out why they are not being confirmed and getting their records straight. The fact that 0.3% of the queries produce an "error" doesn't mean that anybody who has the legal right to a job doesn't get to keep the job.

NPR did not have to read the Court's decision to get their facts straight. All they had to do was go to the USCIS website, where the most recent statistics are presented in a colorful pie chart. We don't know which source led NPR so astray, but somewhere, someone is getting high fives for pulling one over on the news team of "All Things Considered."

We hope to see a national mandatory E-Verify bill start moving through the House any week now.

The supporters of illegal immigration are nearly hysterical about this and are unleashing an incredible misinformation effort. And their main trick seems to be to lie about error rates in E-Verify.

They have been so successful in their lies about error rates that we've even seen some people and organizations that generally have been opposed to illegal immigration repeating the falsehoods.

Campaign for Working Families

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

To: Friends & Supporters

From: Gary L. Bauer

2012 Update

  • Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is earning strong reviews for his economic speech in Chicago yesterday. Taking a page out of Ronald Reagan's book, Pawlenty called for across-the-board tax cuts to generate an economic boom. Club for Growth and the Wall Street Journal praised the speech for its substance. Pawlenty also took a few shots at President Obama. Here's one excerpt that should be a key talking point for every GOP candidate in 2012:

"Regrettably, President Obama is a champion practitioner of class warfare. Elected with a call for unity and hope, he's spent three years dividing our nation and fanning the flames of class envy and resentment to deflect attention from his own failures and the economic hardship they have visited on America."

  • While the economy has taken center stage lately, social conservatives will make their voices heard in this campaign. Several GOP contenders addressed social issues at Ralph Reed's Faith and Freedom Conference last weekend, where I also spoke just before Donald Trump! You can read more about the event here.

Later in the year the leading candidates will speak to the Values Voter Summit, which American Values, my public policy group, is sponsoring, along with Family Research Council, the American Family Association, the Heritage Foundation and Liberty University. They're coming in part because there is a heavy concentration of pro-family, pro-life voters in key early primary states.

  • Herman Cain delivered the keynote address to the Faith and Freedom Conference's gala dinner. You can watch his speech here.
  • Politico has a story today on the brewing Bachmann/Palin feud, which is odd given that Palin is not even a candidate yet.
  • A new Quinnipiac poll finds that the GOP primary, as of this early date, is a two-way contest. Only two candidates received double-digit support - Mitt Romney (25%) and Sarah Palin (15%). Herman Cain received 9%, followed by Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul at 8%, Michele Bachmann at 6%, Tim Pawlenty at 5%, Rick Santorum at 4% and Jon Huntsman at 1%.

A new Reuters poll confirms the overall state of the GOP race, but finds Palin leading Romney 22% to 20%. Herman Cain and Ron Paul are tied with 7% each.

A Plethora Of Polls

Summer is a time when many Americans take a break and head out on vacation. But judging from the press releases and news reports, pollsters are working overtime right now. Four leading firms have released data, and much of it will have White House aides reaching for the Maalox (no doubt purchased with "stimulus" money).

  • When it comes to economic anxieties, a new CNN poll confirms the results of this week's Washington Post/ABC News poll. According to CNN, Obama's approval rating is down from 54% last month to 48% today. Among independent voters, just 42% approve.

More ominous for Obama: 48% of the country believes we are headed for another Great Depression in the next year. That figure previously peaked at 41% in 2009 as the nation was struggling with the financial crisis and the Wall Street collapse. Yet after nearly three years of Obama's hope and change, more Americans are losing hope and want a change!

  • According to the latest Gallup poll, 60% of Americans disapprove of President Obama's handling of the economy and 63% disapprove of his handling of the federal budget deficit.
  • A Quinnipiac University poll finds that 46% of registered voters believe Barack Obama deserves to be reelected, while 48% do not. Key demographic data suggest the president is in trouble: Just 48% of 18 to 34 year-old voters support a second term for Obama, and independent voters are equally divided. Obama won both groups by huge margins in 2008.
  • Rasmussen yesterday released the results of survey asking a similar question of 3,500 likely voters. If the election were held today, just 42% of likely voters would reelect Barack Obama; 45% would support a generic Republican candidate.

A second Rasmussen poll released this morning finds that only 24% of voters believe "their political views are about the same as the president's," while 54% of likely voters say Obama is more liberal than they are. This has to be a major theme for the GOP in 2012. Obama is a far-left ideologue who is outside of the mainstream. We should label him "extreme" every chance we get.

Obama's Broken Promises

During the legislative battle to pass ObamaCare, the president repeatedly reassured the American people that under his plan they could keep their current health plan if they liked it.

Conservatives warned that such promises defied common sense because the legislation provided perverse incentives for businesses to drop healthcare coverage, which would force more and more Americans to be dependent on big government. Of course, Obama knows this. Indeed, the whole purpose was to make more Americans dependent on big government.

A new study by a management consulting firm suggests that ObamaCare's conservative critics were right. A survey of 1,300 businesses this year found that "at least 30% of employers" believe they would be better off if they dropped insurance coverage.

That number is likely to grow fast. The survey found that, "Among employers with a high awareness of [ObamaCare], this proportion increases to more than 50 percent, and upward of 60 percent will pursue some alternative..."

Here's why: AT&T estimated that it could save nearly $2 billion a year by shifting its health insurance obligations to ObamaCare. Once one company takes the step of freeing itself from the costs of health insurance, other companies will have to follow in order to remain financially competitive. Investors will likely insist on it, leading to an avalanche of businesses dumping their health insurance.

Additionally, the report finds that it "will be economically rational not only for many [businesses] but also for their lower-income employees, given the law's incentives." In other words, as America faces record budget deficits, Obama and his socialist allies have created a massive new entitlement program!

Washington Post Slams Obama's "Phony Accounting"

As you may know, Obama went to an Ohio auto factory last week to try to boost his image on job creation. He also made the auto bailout the centerpiece of his weekly radio address. But Obama's claims were too much even for his allies in the liberal media.

This week the Washington Post published a "fact checker" column taking the president to task for his "phony accounting on the auto bailout." Here is the key excerpt of the Post's analysis:

"What we found is one of the most misleading collections of assertions we have seen in a short presidential speech. Virtually every claim by the president regarding the auto industry needs an asterisk, just like the fine print in that too-good-to-be-true car loan."

I would apply that to his entire presidency!

Expert: Obama doc is 'proof' of fraud

The online image of a Hawaiian "Certificate of Live Birth" was trumpeted by the White House when it was released on April 27 as "proof positive" that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.

Now an expert in typefaces and typography says it sure was "proof," but not of what the White House would have wanted.

Ten Questions for Leon Panetta

The war in Afghanistan rages on, as does the conflict in Libya. U.S. troops are still deployed in Iraq. Unrest continues in the Middle East's Arab Spring. Meanwhile, Iran's nuclear efforts are accelerating, and the global war against terrorists remains. And yet despite an aging military, President Barack Obama has called for $400 billion in cuts to national security spending over the next 12 years, in addition to the $400 billion in cuts he has already made.

U.N. agreement should have all gun owners up in arms

UN doesn't like civilians having guns

It may not come as surprising news to many of you that the United Nations doesn't approve of our Second Amendment. Not one bit. And they very much hope to do something about it with help from some powerful American friends.

Under the guise of a proposed global "Small Arms Treaty" premised to fight "terrorism", "insurgency" and "international crime syndicates" you can be quite certain that an even more insidious threat is being targeted - our Constitutional right for law-abiding citizens to own and bear arms.

Don't doom GOP's chances to win in 2012

Here comes the lecture from a RINO

The numbers only summarize the anxiety and misery of millions of hard-pressed Americans. Politically, the desperate and angry mood of the country opens a huge vulnerability for President Barack Obama.

Presidents who inherit economic crises get re-elected when they deliver positive results.

Unemployment dropped by 2 percentage points in the third year of Ronald Reagan's first term, and then by another 1 1/2 points in the fourth year. Result: a 49- state landslide.

Rep. Anthony Weiner explained himself and apologized for his conduct to Bill Clinton, who officiated his wedding to wife Huma Abedin, sources familiar with the call said.

Weiner made the call within the past 48 hours. It took place following his emotional press conference Monday in New York City, where he admitted that he had posted a lewd photo of himself to Twitter 10 days earlier, the sources said.

Obama presses Europe, pledges help for Greek crisis

America to bailout Greece?

President Barack Obama on Tuesday urged European countries and bondholders to prevent a "disastrous" default by Greece and pledged U.S. support to help tackle the country's debt crisis.

Obama, whose political prospects have suffered from persistently high unemployment and ballooning U.S. debt, has pinpointed the euro zone crisis as one foreign "headwind" hitting the U.S. economy.

Obama: Hope, Change, and The Occasional Sex Dream

by Ann Coulter | June 8 , 2011

Ann CoulterIn Part One of my new book -- released this week! -- "Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America," I demonstrate that liberals have all the earmarks of mob psychology.

Their myths, slogans, demands for immediate action, messianic goals, demonization of opponents, creation of political idols and occasional resorts to violence -- all this is classic herd behavior.
Because mobs are irrational, immature, subject to wild passions and infatuations, they cannot be reasoned with. And they are always dangerous.

The mob attributes of liberals we will review this week are a crowd's inability to perceive contradictions and its tendency to form an infatuation for an individual.

Consider just one blinding contradiction recently embraced by liberals.

Immediately after Jared Loughner's shooting spree in Tucson, Americans were lectured on civility by the likes of Keith "the leading terrorist group in this country right now is the Republican Party" Olbermann.

Two days after the shooting, The New York Times ran an op-ed by former Democratic congressman Paul Kanjorski (Pa.) calling for "an atmosphere of civility" to eliminate a "fear of violent confrontation." Only months earlier, Kanjorski had said of the Republican candidate for governor in Florida (now governor), Rick Scott: "They ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him."

Weiner sexted about...Glenn Beck? (Eww)

The sext messages between Congressman Weiner and his women are beginning to come out in greater volume, including chats that are date-stamped just one month after his wedding. But the most disturbing chat by far is the one in which Weiner and his gal pal chat about Glenn Beck. Yes, it's true. And yes it's disturbing. Those weak of stomach should NOT READ this sexting transcript.

Former Hollywood Leftist flips

Best known as a playwright, David Mamet has also won a Pulitzer Prize and been nominated for an Oscar. Glenn spoke with David on radio today about his journey from left to right, and assured him that he'll probably never win another award ever again. Also an author, his latest being The Secret Knowledge - David talks about how his evolving political views have affected his career. Check out the conversation HERE.

Jon Stewart feels the heat, mocks Weiner

Former Weiner roommate Jon Stewart was hammered in the press for taking it easy on his buddy - but he came back strong last night and mocked Weiner's press conference. Stewart kept mixing increasingly strong drinks as the conference progressed and even accidentally cut himself on the margarita glass. A pretty solid job - but would he have gone farther if it were someone on the right? Watch and decide.

Obama set to bail out... Greece?

America's economy may be on fire, but that's not stopping President Obama from taking action. Of course, he's taking action in Greece. It's not exactly clear why Greece would want Obama's help, given his horrific economic track record here at home. Nevertheless, Obama is leading the charge to bailout Greece - but he's got a few demands, like making Greece 'make structural reforms' to its economy. Oh, that's it? DETAILS.
