Last Monday some of us went to Baltimore to attend Brigitte Gabriel's conference. There were approximately 500 to 600 people. The conference started with an overview of the story of ACT for America and how it's organization and effort are affecting so much of the whole country. How members of a local chapters help influence the US Congress. The ACT presentation also included several little videos about big chapters and how they worked, and an extensive report about all legislative victories that without ACT wouldn't have taken place.
People were in silent, expectant, and taking notes.
After the video showing the ACT machine in full operation, Brigitte spoke of Lebanon, an example of prosperity and generosity, one of the most advanced civilizations, the Paris combined with the Swiss Banking Center of the Middle East with its mythological Mediterranean beaches and woods of cedars mentioned in the Bible, that were destroyed by tanks, bombs, and fedayines, attacks every night until it was left to smoking shambles and destruction.
Hospitality and the pride of accepting all races religions and cultures returned blood and death instead.
Soon it became clear that this was not going to be just a common conference as sparks started to illuminate the spirits. The public started to applaud frantically standing thrilled with admiration and enthusiasm.
Brigitte had the ability to make us all feel her vibration and her spiritual strength as if it was our own. The only thing that crossed my mind was to thank God to have sent such a talented communicator. I intend to bring Brigitte to the Union League in Philadelphia.
So, if you don't want to start seeing burkas in our neighborhoods, if you don't want no-go zone's around us, if you don't want to be surrounded by terrorist training camps, if you don't want to have honor killings and shariah law in our midst, please RSVP and let me know that you will support bringing Brigette to our area.

1. Short Memories And Republican Successes
Back on March 15th, I wrote a post pointing out what happens when Republicans get milquetoast - their polling goes down.
If you will go back to March 15th, there was a poll out that said the GOP hadn't been compromising enough. In fact, the poll said that "71% say the GOP is not willing enough to compromise with Obama on the deficit."
I noted at the time that the GOP had been muddying the waters with Barack Obama and the Democrats. I said that "House Republicans have been muddying the water so much since November and painting their policy positions in pale pastels. The public voted in November with bright colors - mostly in red."
I also said, perhaps counterintuitively, that the GOP needed to stop being so compromising, even though the poll suggested otherwise, and start leading. "As long as the Republicans are being milquetoast on spending and the budget, the Democrats will see the polling benefits," I wrote.
In the debt ceiling fight, it appears I was right. As the GOP has held a firm and consistent line insisting on massive spending cuts and entitlement reform, their poll numbers have gone up - exactly opposite what the chattering class of compromising good government types insisted would happen.
2. The Infamous, Updated, Romer-Bernstein Chart.
Via James Pethokoukis comes an updated version of the graph (originally created by Obama's economic advisers Christina Romer and Jared Bernstein) that has been succinctly countering (for years) any and all attempts to argue that the misnamed 'stimulus' worked.
For those without access to the picture: it's a modified version of this graph, which was used to sell the idea that with a stimulus, unemployment would not rise above 8%; and that without a stimulus, unemployment might rise all the way to... 9%!!!!!! That last sentence is what usually gets emphasized in these discussions, and for good reason (it was a nitwit prediction). But I'd [like] to note that according to the original chart we were forecast to be having about 6.5% or so unemployment at this point, with that number dropping rapidly.
3. Voter ID and Voter Contempt.
Wow! Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations. Democrats across America have risen en masse to fight Voter ID laws. Their talking points all read in a depressingly similar fashion. The quote-zombies vary in location, gender and complexion, but if you just read their words, they all look the same to me. The Democratic Party's argument against Voter ID is based upon voter contempt.
4. Jim Tucker's Fight to Keep Workers on the Government Dole in Louisiana
It appears that Louisiana Speaker of the House Jim Tucker has won at least a temporary victory in his battle to prevent Bobby Jindal from selling and privatizing three state prisons, a move which would have infused almost $100M in cash to the State's strapped budget as well as saving the state almost $300M over the next 20 years (more on that fight here). The bill failed to pass out of committee today on a razor-thin 13-12 vote, which means the standalone bill is dead - it is at least possible that the sale can be added as an amendment to a bill on the House floor (to which it is germane), but its prospects there look doubtful with Tucker leading the charge.
5. The Pretense of Obama's 'Other' Labor Board's Investigation of Delta
Let's cut to the chase, shall we? Within the next several months (perhaps sooner), the odds are President Obama's National Mediation Board will find that Delta Air committed unforgivable sins during multiple union election campaigns last fall, causing the unions to lose the elections. As a result, employees at Delta will be subjected to more union elections until they-in the minds of union bosses-vote the right way (to unionize). It doesn't matter what the facts are-Delta's conduct could have been as pure as virgin snow-the NMB will rule that (at least several) of the elections must be rerun.

While CNN continues to tank under the leadership of Fareed Zakaria, its loss of profits and viewership don't seem to bother the organization. Instead of profits and viewership, the one-time mainstream CNN's mission seems to have become ideological, perhaps in anticipation of a day when it receives its money from the Islamo-friendly socialized state it is trying to create.
That's a pretty strong allegation, but hear me out. From a previous broadcast (GO HERE), you've already seen Zakaria brag about his regular face-to-face policy discussions with President Obama -- our Constitutional Scholar in Chief. Now comes the scary new stuff: Check out what Fareed Zakaria said during an interview on May 31, 2011.
America Is GM Circa 1975: Obama Buddy Fareed Zakaria Bemoans Parochial Americans' Love of the Founders & Constitution as the Reason We Can't Learn to Be Better Like Other Countries

This is a sales-pitch, not a reasoned argument, and Zakaria's goal is to weaken the attachment Americans feel for the U.S. Constitution. See how the sales pitch works:
· Zakaria starts by inventing a fiction about Americans and the Constitution, and then ridicules both with the aid of the fiction. Consider: The U.S. Constitution has been amended 27 times, which means that, while Americans have great respect for the Constitution, they have long recognized the need to improve it and have done so. Also, anyone with more than a passing knowledge of our Founding Fathers knows that they were not "demi-gods." Instead, Americans know that our founders were imperfect men of their times who embarked on a long and painstaking deliberative process that had the remarkable result of creating a Constitution that brought 13 independent colonies voluntarily into a union, gave citizens a degree of freedom never witnessed before in the history of mankind, and expanded the enfranchisement of its people with unprecedented stability over more than two centuries.
· He implies that we are being arrogant in thinking that "our political system is the best in the world" and that "the Senate is the marvel of the world." Again, this is pure fiction. A far more accurate assessment was the lament pronounced by Winston Churchill, who said, "Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." But accuracy is not Zakaria's goal; the goal is to subtly accuse Americans of a new crime: "Arrogance." "Arrogance" is what the Islamic world accuses the West of, for having the audacity to live by the laws of men rather than the divine laws of Allah -- Shariah.
· When Zakaria tries to point out how the Constitution is flawed, he talks about the role of money in politics and our tax code, but the Constitution doesn't deal with these issues. In other words, he criticizes the Constitution for problems that it doesn't address and CANNOT address. There is no Constitution on the planet that can eliminate the influence of money on politics, and it would be inappropriate for a Constitution to define exactly how taxes are collected because that's a law specialty unto itself.
· The most galling part of this sales-pitch is when Zakaria talks about looking to other nations for "best practices" with regard to the Constitution. What countries did he have in mind? Pakistan? Indonesia? India? Syria? China? Russia? He doesn't say. He doesn't provide a single example of "Best Practices" that we can learn from, but he still accuses America of refusing to learn from others. This omission doesn't matter to him, though, because his real goal is simply to make Americans feel guilty for their arrogance, and for not being inclusive toward the world's other legal traditions.
Zakaria is trying to invent a problem for Americans to solve: Our guilt of parochial arrogance, which will lead us to a crash because we are not receptive to the legal traditions of other parts of the world.
In the light of Shariah law, the significance of Zakaria's words are clear. It's also clear that when Constitutional Scholar Obama consults with Muslim Zacharia about American policy, the potential for Constitutional mischief is alarming.

VIDEO: A Muslim View of Peace and Tolerance
Let's pretend, for a moment, that academic freedom really did reign on America's college campuses. I know, it's difficult to envision, but just for the sake of argument let's pretend it exists.
So into our little fantasy, let's introduce a character. Let's make him one of the most influential young conservative Christians in America, who is also a teaching assistant and Ph.D. candidate at Yale. (Ha ha ha! A well-known conservative Christian teaching at Yale! This is one crazy fantasy!)
And let's say that in a lecture one day, he says the following things:
1. The Bible teaches that Islam is evil. Evil, repugnant, futile and useless.
2. Muslims, therefore, are evil.
3. God says that Muslims are spiritually filthy.
4. The life and property of Muslims hold no value when we are battling them. Here in America, this is not the place and time where we can take their lives and property, but in other places, we can, and at another time, we may do it here, as well. But not here now. Not yet.
Let's further pretend that we have audio of this teaching, widely available on the internet.
Care to speculate on the reaction from the Left? The mainstream media? Obama?
Well, their heads would probably implode.
However, last I looked, their heads are all still intact. Which means that we have one serious double standard working here. Because leaving behind our pretend scenario and turning to cold hard reality, our young influential conservative cleric at Yale is not a Christian (of course) but a Muslim. And here's what he has to say:
1. The Koran teaches that Christianity is evil. Evil, repugnant, futile and useless. (He calls it "shirk" or polytheism, because he misunderstands the nature of the Trinity)
2. Christians are evil. It's important to study their teachings to understand evil.
3. Allah calls Christians filthy. People who practice "shirk" (known as "mushrikoun") are "nejjis" - filthy.
4. The life and property of Christians (mushrikoun) hold no value in the state of jihad. Not here right now, in this country. This is not the time or place. This will be the case when we are in a state of jihad, in an Islamic state, when there is a caliphate.
The teacher in question, one Yasir Qadhi, emphasizes that he doesn't mean in America - at least not now. Qadhi is described by the New York Times as:

Report: Egypt Legalizes Muslim Brotherhood

Egypt's long-banned Muslim Brotherhood has been legally recognized as the Freedom and Justice Party, Egypt's official news agency reported on Tuesday.
The announcement would allow the group to run in parliamentary elections set for September.
The Brotherhood is considered one of Egypt's best organized blocs following the fall of longtime President Hosni Mubarak in February. It was founded in 1928 but outlawed since 1954.

A once-sleepy movement that would upend the Electoral College, reverse two centuries of constitutional practice and elect presidents by direct popular vote has quietly picked up momentum in recent days, with Republican Party leaders scrambling to stanch a steady stream of defections by GOP state lawmakers to the plan. Shawn Steel, a former chairman of the California Republican Party, is so worried by the support building for the so-called "National Popular Vote Compact" that he is organizing an effort to put the Republican National Committee on record against the idea at its August meeting in Tampa, Fla. "This is a very clever idea that bypasses the orderly process of amending the Constitution," said Mr. Steel, who is now an RNC member from California. According to sources who watch the inner workings of the federal government, a smackdown of Barack Obama by the U.S. Supreme Court may be inevitable.
Ever since Obama assumed the office of President, critics have hammered him on a number of Constitutional issues.
Critics have complained that much, if not all of Obama's major initiatives run headlong into Constitutional roadblocks on the power of the federal government.
Obama certainly did not help himself in the eyes of the Court when he used the venue of the State of the Union address early in the year to publicly flog the Court over its ruling that the First Amendment grants the right to various organizations to run political ads during the time of an election.
The tongue-lashing clearly did not sit well with the Court, as demonstrated by Justice Sam Alito, who publicly shook his head and stated under his breath, 'That's not true,'when Obama told a flat-out lie concerning the Court's ruling.
As it has turned out, this was a watershed moment in the relationship between the executive and the judicial branches of the federal government. Obama publicly declared war on the court, even as he blatantly continued to propose legislation that flies in the face of every known Constitutional principle upon which this nation has stood for over 200 years. Obama has even identified Chief Justice John Roberts as his number one enemy, that is, apart from Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, and so on. And it is no accident that the one swing-vote on the court, Justice Anthony Kennedy, stated recently that he has no intention of retiring until 'Obama is gone.'
Apparently, the Court has had enough.

Last year's Dodd-Frank financial takeover act contained thousands of pages of regulations that are projected to raise costs on American consumers. But today, we have a chance to stop one regulation before it makes your debit card significantly more expensive.
At the behest of liberal Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), price controls on debit card transaction fees were inserted into the Dodd-Frank bill that will shift the cost of carrying a debit card onto consumers like you. The regulation likely spells the end of free checking accounts or debit card rewards.
But Senators Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) are coming to the rescue and proposing a measure known as the "Tester-Corker Amendment." It would stop these price controls before they take effect in July, and further study their impact. The last thing we need in a fragile economy is more burdensome regulations and price controls that make merely using a debit card more expensive for Americans.

Three in ten employers will abandon offering health coverage to their employees when President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act takes effect in 2014, according to a survey published by McKinsey Quarterly.While only 7 percent of employees will be forced to switch to subsidized-exchange programs, 30 percent of companies say they will "definitely or probably" stop offering employer-sponsored coverage, according to the study published by McKinsey Quarterly.

Dear Liberty Activist,
"Don't mess with Texas!" - a phrase symbolic of the independent nature of a republic that was born fighting for independence.
Unfortunately for Texans, their state leaders forgot this history and caved like the Buffalo Bills in a Super Bowl to threats from the Department of Justice.
You see, Texas State Rep. David Simpson sponsored a commonsense bill to prohibit officials from groping people's privates as a condition for them to travel or enter a public building.
But the bureaucrats working at the TSA and DOJ didn't like this restriction.
They threatened to create what amounts to a no-fly zone over Texas after the bill sailed unanimously through the Texas State House.
After a brief fight in the Senate, the bill was pulled without a vote because the necessary two thirds of Senators were not present to vote on the bill.
Everyday Americans like those in Texas Campaign for Liberty refused to let their state fold, however, and they have turned up the heat to such a high level that the bill is close to returning from the dead.
To ensure Texas takes its stand, these activists need nationwide backup.
It's time to take action in support of not just Texas, but all states that seek to safeguard Americans' Fourth Amendment rights from the rubber-gloved goons, whose touchy-feely tactics are supposedly protected by their government agent status.
The Texas Legislature was called into a special session recently, which grants them a unique opportunity to once again push this bill through and onto Gov. Rick Perry's desk.
What's the one obstacle in the way of breathing new life into this bill?

Only the Governor can add issues to be considered during a special session of the Texas State Legislature.
Even though State Representative Simpson and State Senator Patrick have reintroduced their bills (HB 41 & SB 29), the Governor is the only one who can allow the legislature to restore each Texan's dignity.
Governor Perry has repeatedly taken to the national scene, including venues like CPAC 2011, to talk about "standing up to Washington" and defending states' rights.
Now it's time for him to show his hand.
When he has the ability to prove that all that tough talk was more than just heated rhetoric, will he stop at only words?
Please take a moment today to call Governor Perry at (512) 463-1782. Demand he back up his speeches and stand up for states' rights by bringing up HB 41 & SB 29 during the special session of the Texas state legislature.
Make sure he knows the whole nation is watching what happens in Texas. If he allows the feds to walk all over him and Texas with some empty threats and misinterpretation of the "supremacy clause," then the TSA will have won a major victory.
Virtually all leading Texas liberty supporters - including in the House, Senate, and the Lieutenant Governor - agree that Governor Perry should stand up to the feds, and so far he refuses to do so.
Something has got to give. If it's the states, then we're likely to be groped and scanned in airports without end. But if it's the Feds, then we'll finally be taking a step in the right direction by refusing to surrender our dignity and human rights in the name of so-called "security."
Tell Governor Perry that it's time to remind the Feds - "Don't mess with Texas!" There's no better issue to pick a fight over than the TSA's molestation of law-abiding citizens in our nations' airports.

MORE KILLINGS LINKED TO "PROJECT GUNRUNNER!"
The downing of a Mexican military helicopter and a shoot-out in the Mexican state of Jalisco that left 11 people dead and dozens of weapons seized could be linked to the controversial Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious, according to anonymous congressional sources.
An "insider" said the weapons seizure is "causing a panic" at the headquarters of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The Jalisco gun battle resulted in the slayings of 11 members of the La Familia drug cartel last week. Thirty-six more people were reportedly arrested. CBS reports that more than 80 rifles and handguns were seized along with an estimated 20,000 rounds of ammunition. Two officers aboard the downed military helicopter were wounded, according to published reports. Congress absolutely must get to the bottom of this ongoing tragedy!
Sources say Mexican authorities have been reluctant to talk about the case with U.S. authorities, apparently because of the helicopter downing. Mexican authorities have been insisting that the helicopter was not downed by gunfire, but came down because of "mechanical" problems.

The strong possibility that these guns are linked to Fast and Furious is apparently causing concerns at ATF headquarters, where both former Phoenix, AZ Special Agent in Charge William Newell and Assistant Special Agent in Charge George Gillett - the latter who has been cooperating with the Gunrunner investigations and has retained legal counsel - have been reassigned. The Phoenix field office has gone through a major shuffle with new personnel taking charge.
Sources say Congressman Darrell Issa's House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will likely hold a hearing on the Gunrunner controversy in mid-June, but that the list of invited witnesses has not yet been finalized.
More and more, the fingers of guilt point to officials high up in the Obama administration. Across-the-board stonewalling by government agencies is hindering the final investigation, including the Attorney General. Of course this does not surprise me, as the Obama administration is the most anti-gun and anti-Second Amendment administration in recent memory!
What started out as an "innocent" program run by the ATF to allow guns purchased in the United States to be smuggled into Mexico for the purpose of TRACKING THEM to high-ranking members of Mexican drug cartels. Has turned into a genuine cover-up, involved many hundreds of weapons unaccounted for by the ATF.

2012 Update
- Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty delivered a bold economic address today at the University of Chicago. It was bold in that Pawlenty calls for radical tax reform and major spending cuts with the goal of generating consistent 5% economic growth.
Specifically, Pawlenty wants to cut the corporate tax rate from 35% to 15%, and simplify the income tax to just two rates of 10% and 25%. He would also eliminate the capital gains tax and the estate tax. You can read a summary of his economic plan here. - Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has reportedly hired veteran campaign operative Ed Rollins to run her presidential campaign. Rollins was the campaign manager of Ronald Reagan's 1984 reelection effort and ran Mike Huckabee's 2008 campaign.
Rollins began his new job by promptly attacking whom? Obama? No. Pelosi? No. Reid? No. He began by attacking Sarah Palin, proving once again that GOP operatives are often most skilled at forming circular firing squads and firing at fellow conservatives.
"Obama Loses Bin Laden Bounce"
The "mainstream" media continues to sound alarm bells over Barack Obama's reelection chances. Last week it was the New York Times warning that no president since FDR has been reelected when the unemployment rate exceeded 7.2%. Today, it is the Washington Post, which is out with a new poll noting that Obama has lost his "bin Laden bounce."
According to the latest Washington Post/ABC News poll, 49% of Americans now disapprove of Obama's overall job performance, while 47% approve. After the death of Osama bin Laden, the Post found Obama's approval rating grew to 56%. The "bin Laden" bounce is gone, and the American people are once again focused on the president's handling of the economy.
And when it comes to the nation's economy and the deficit, the Post reports that Obama's disapproval rating "has reached new highs." Fifty-nine percent of Americans now disapprove of Obama's handling of the economy and 61% disapprove of his handling of the deficit. Moreover, 57% of Americans do not believe the economy is in recovery, meaning they likely believe that Obama's policies have thus far failed.
Not surprisingly, there is a growing consensus that Obama is politically much weaker than previously thought. In fact, looking ahead to 2012, the Post poll found Obama tied with Mitt Romney among "adults," many of whom may not be voters. When the Post polled only registered voters, Obama lost to Mitt Romney by three points (49% to 46%).
Polls are just snap shots in time. The most important poll takes place at the voting booth. That's why it is so important that we keep engaging friends and family members, making sure all of our like-minded friends are registered to vote and that they do vote on Election Day.
The bottom line is this: Obama can be beaten! I know there is a lot of consternation about the state of the GOP presidential primary. But as I said on my Sirius/XM radio show this weekend, if my mailman got the GOP nomination, I would vote for him against Obama.
A lot of you are sending me ideas for various projects, legislation or constitutional amendments to help turn our country around. Some of these ideas have merit. But in my view, our biggest problem is Barack Hussein Obama. We cannot govern Washington until we take back the White House and win a majority in the Senate. Anything that distracts us from defeating Obama in November 2012, is just that - a distraction.
On Jobs Obama Says: "We Don't Know"
During an interview yesterday with a Cleveland, Ohio, TV station, President Obama was asked explain last week's disturbing jobs report. Obama said, "We don't know yet what happened in terms of this particular blip..." (Note to our friends at the RNC - Obama just gave you a great ad: "We don't know...")
And the people who might know are bailing out. The latest socialist to jump ship is Austan Goolsbee, chairman of Obama's Council of Economic Advisers. With Goolsbee's departure, Obama will have lost four top economic advisors in less than three years, following Peter Orzag, Christina Romer and Larry Summers. Moreover, as the New York Times notes, Goolsbee is "the only economist left on [Obama's] core economic team."
The Hill also reported late yesterday afternoon that President Obama has "stopped receiving the daily economic briefing that he requested when he took office." With the unemployment rate above 9%, President Obama should consider putting his golf clubs down for a while to make some time for those economic briefings.
Are We Headed For Civil Unrest?
James Carville, a top Democrat strategist and key political operative in the Clinton White House, raised eyebrows when he said this week, "if it continues [high unemployment], we're going to start to see civil unrest in this country."
I don't know where Carville was during the "Battle of Wisconsin," but we had plenty of civil unrest when a conservative governor and state legislators tried to tackle out-of-control budgets and government spending. Just like the socialists in Greece, the American left rioted when it came time to put the taxpayers first. But this wasn't spontaneous unrest. It was stoked and supported by Carville's friends in Big Labor and the Democrat Party.
Signals From The Court?
The federal government has largely ignored the problems of illegal immigration. But legal precedents declaring that only the federal government can enforce immigration laws have stymied the efforts of states and localities such as Arizona and Hazelton, Pennsylvania, to deal with the fallout. That may be changing.
Two weeks ago, in a 5-to-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the state of Arizona could require businesses to use an electronic system to verify the legal status of new employees. Yesterday, the court vacated a previous ruling against Hazelton, Pennsylvania, and ordered a new hearing based on its opinion in the Arizona case.
It is always risky to try to predict the outcome of future cases, but these rulings suggest that there now may be a majority on the high court that is sympathetic to state and local efforts to crack down on illegal immigration.
By the way, that five-vote majority in the Arizona case does not include either of Obama's Supreme Court appointees. Justice Sotomayor was one of the three dissenting justices, and Justice Kagan recused herself given the administration's formal opposition to the Arizona law and her previous role as Obama's top government lawyer.
If Obama is reelected, he will have the opportunity to pack the court with more left-wing activists, radically changing its balance of power. Beyond redefining marriage and promoting abortion-on-demand, an emboldened liberal majority would not hesitate to eviscerate cherished values, including free speech, religious liberty and Second Amendment rights.

There is a very important lesson to be learned from the special election that was held last week in New York's 26th District. And no, it has NOTHING to do with Paul Ryan and his proposal to protect our seniors' access to the Medicare benefits they were guaranteed. An increasingly informed citizenry is fully aware of the meaningless scare tactics being propagated by the Party currently in power in order to insure that a severely broken and bankrupt entitlement program continues its journey to complete insolvency. We all know that the choice is not between what we have now and nothing; rather, it is between an improved, sustainable and more fiscally responsible system and nothing.
The lesson we MUST take away from this recent special election is that THERE IS NO FORMAL TEA PARTY ORGANIZATION. We MUST internalize this fact, or it will be used against us at every turn by those currently in power. They see the resolve of the majority of us citizens; how we are rising up to rescue our beloved nation. They realize that the only strategy they can employ to retain power is to split our vote by duping us into believing that constitutional conservative candidates would run on a fictitious Tea Party line.
We MUST remember and hold true to our philosophy. The Tea Party is a movement, not a political entity. It is a grassroots, bottom up, leaderless association of concerned patriots. It is NOT a top down organization, and it was neither founded nor is it led by ANY political official. We seek to work within the established party system, but WE ARE NOT PART OF ANY ONE POLITICAL PARTY. And TRUE TEA PARTY PATRIOTS RECOGNIZE THE DANGER IN ESTABLISHING A THIRD PARTY, WHICH WILL ALWAYS SPLIT THE VOTE AND RETURN TO POWER THE VERY SYSTEM THAT IS DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY.
Lesson learned from NY-26, folks: RUN, DON'T WALK away from ANY candidate who purports to be a Tea Party candidate running on a Tea Party line in an election. Instead, fight for changes within our current two party system to ensure that our choice of candidates are able to run within that system. It all starts with the Committeeman process. A Tea Party Foreign Policy?
The Tea Party has had an extraordinary effect on our domestic policy for the last few years. They can take credit for both unifying public opinion, and giving it a voice on various spending and constitutional issues. On foreign policy, though, the Tea Party has been silent. With the United States currently involved in three wars on foreign soil, the Tea Party needs to think about foreign policy.
The Tea Party's silence on foreign policy issues has allowed isolationist voices to claim to speak on its behalf, and therefore to discredit the movement's relevance to American diplomacy. For instance, Ron Paul advocates non-interventionism, which he claims to be the Founders' foreign policy. (Non-interventionism means that America would not be politically or militarily involved with other countries' internal affairs.)
Non-interventionism, however, is a bad idea. Not only is it potentially detrimental to America's security, it is at odds with the principles of America's founding, from which the Tea Party rightly gains much inspiration. While a policy of non-interventionism is sometimes appropriate, the doctrine of non-interventionism is an isolationist policy that limits the options available to America, weakening its ability to defend freedom. It is a limitation the Founders did not adopt, and neither should today's lawmakers. The Tea Party has the opportunity to reject non-interventionism and recognize America's indispensable role in the world.
Because America stands for the principles of liberty, independence, and self-government, its interests are defined and shaped by those principles. The Founders did not believe that America had a duty to spread the ideas of liberty by waging wars that might be detrimental to America's interests and security, but they welcomed opportunities to prudently support the principles and practice of liberty around the world, even at times through military force. George Washington recommended choosing "peace or war, as our interest, guided by justice, shall counsel."
As they did in domestic policy, the Tea Party should look to the Founders in foreign policy. To do so, however, they must avoid the tendency to oversimplify America's early foreign policy. The true consistency of American foreign policy is to be found not in its policies, which can prudently change and adapt, but in its guiding principles, which are unchanging and permanent. From the Founders' perspective, then, a prudent foreign policy means never excluding the possibility of strong military action at a moment's notice and, therefore, requires maintaining a strong military.
Embracing the Founders' understanding of statecraft also means promoting America's political principles whenever possible through the conduct of foreign policy. The ideas of liberty and self-government were not just true for Americans but for all people. America's early diplomats considered the defense and spread of America's principles fundamental to their task of representing the people of the United States abroad. At times, the American military was engaged to support those seeking liberty. It rescued refugees and leveraged American support to tip the balance in favor of economic, civil, and religious freedom around the globe.
There are no easy answers to the hard questions of foreign policy. As George Washington recognized, policy based only on material interests would harm America's ideals, while a policy based only on ideals would ignore the realities of the world. Prudence allowed the Founders to navigate the complex circumstances of international affairs while protecting America's interests and promoting America's principles. This approach, balancing interests and justice, remains essential to securing the blessings of liberty for the American people and enabling America to stand resolutely for the cause of freedom around the world in the 21st century. Non-Interventionism ignores justice and misunderstands America's interests.
In arguing for individual liberty and constitutional government, the Tea Party has shifted the paradigm of domestic politics. Such a shift is needed in foreign policy, and the Tea Party can and should help reshape America's role in the world. By adopting a correct understanding of the Founders' foreign policy the Tea Party can successfully advocate an approach that is compatible with America's founding principles.

Pawlenty's tax plan
Republican Tim Pawlenty was set to propose an economic policy Tuesday that would simplify individual tax rates to just three options and cut taxes on business by more than half as he offered himself as a replacement to Barack Obama in the Democratic president's hometown.
The former Minnesota governor also was to propose that any services available privately, such as the postal services or mortgages, should not be something government handles. He said he would require a vote in Congress to extend any regulation or he would cancel it. And he said he would eliminate taxes on investments and inheritances.

Obama's rating on economy hits new low: poll

Americans' disapproval of how President Barack Obama is handling the economy and its growing budget deficit has reached new highs amid broad frustration over the slow pace of economic recovery, according to a Washington Post-ABC New poll released on Tuesday.
The ratings boost Obama received after the killing of Osama bin Laden has dissipated with his job approval rating back to 47 percent. Forty-nine percent disapprove of his performance.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) apparently doesn't want to be reminded of the people who will feel the sting of his budget cuts.

Supreme Court allows California to grant in-state tuition to illegal immigrants
State Supreme Court rules in favor of illegals
The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a challenge to California's policy of granting reduced, in-state tuition at its colleges and universities to graduates of its high schools who are illegal immigrants.
The justices turned down an appeal from lawyers for a conservative immigration-law group that contended "preferential treatment" for illegal immigrants violated federal immigration law. They cited a little-known provision in a 1986 law that barred states from giving "any postsecondary benefit" to an "alien who is not lawfully present in the United States on the basis of residence within a state."

True Cost of Fannie, Freddie bailouts: $317 Billion, CBO says

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) says the real cost of the federal government guaranteeing the business of failed mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is $317 billion -- not the $130 billion normally claimed by the Obama administration.
In a report delivered to the House Budget Committee on June 2, the CBO said a "fair value" accounting of guaranteeing the two defunct mortgage companies - known as Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) - was more than twice as high as the Office of Management and Budget had accounted for.

Their calls came shortly after the married Weiner's profuse public apology for "inappropriate" online exchanges with six women.

GM Chief pushing for higher gas taxes

General Motors Co. CEO Dan Akerson wants the federal gas tax boosted as much as $1 a gallon to nudge consumers toward more fuel-efficient cars, and he's confident the government will soon shed its remaining 26 percent stake in the once-bankrupt automaker.
"I actually think the government will be out this year - within the next 12 months, hopefully within the next six months," Akerson said in a two-hour interview with The Detroit News last week.

President Obama's visit to a Chrysler plant in Toledo, Ohio, on Friday was the culmination of a campaign to portray the auto bailouts as a brilliant success with no unpleasant side effects. "The industry is back on its feet," the president said, "repaying its debt, gaining ground."
If the government hadn't stepped in and dictated the terms of the restructuring, the story goes, General Motors and Chrysler would have collapsed, and at least a million jobs would have been lost. The bailouts averted disaster, and they did so at remarkably little cost.

With some of the economic indicators looking a bit dicey, President Obama traveled to Ohio last week to tout what the administration considers a good-news story: the rescue of the domestic automobile industry. In fact, he also made it the subject of his weekly radio address.
We take no view on whether the administration's efforts on behalf of the automobile industry were a good or bad thing; that's a matter for the editorial pages and eventually the historians. But we are interested in the facts the president cited to make his case.

A Pennsylvania city will get another chance to defend its never-enforced illegal immigration law after the Supreme Court ordered a federal appeals court to reconsider the case yesterday.
Citing their recent decision upholding an Arizona employer-sanctions law, the justices threw out a ruling by the Third US Circuit Court of Appeals that prevented the city of Hazleton from enforcing regulations that would deny permits to businesses that hire illegal immigrants and fine landlords who rent to them.
Hazleton's Illegal Immigration Relief Act inspired similar laws around the country, including the one in Arizona.
Both measures were authored by the same scholar, Kris Kobach, currently Kansas's secretary of state.
"This is a great day for all of those cities and states, and for the people of Hazleton who had to endure criticism from those who opposed what we were trying to do because the federal government did not want to do its job,'' said Representative Lou Barletta, Hazleton's former mayor, who pushed through the measures in 2006.  | House freshman lawmakers who attended the late day bicameral closed-door meeting said that Geithner's refusal to present a "scorable" plan that would reduce the deficit in exchange for a must-pass debt limit increase, left many feeling frustrated.
Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Ohio), who sat through most of the hour-long meeting, told The Hill that Geithner said "absolutely nothing" to convince him of the urgent need to increase the current $14.3 trillion limit by the August 2 deadline.
If Congress does not raise the borrowing authority for the Treasury secretary by August, Chabot predicted that "we'll have to reduce the level of spending, which I'm in favor of."

Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is on the verge of announcing her intentions, and former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is contemplating a bid. If either runs, it would be the first time since Elizabeth Dole's bid in 1999 that a viable female candidate has sought the Republican nomination for president.

 | Veteran political strategist Ed Rollins has been tapped to help U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann assemble her presidential campaign, according to numerous sources.
"If she runs, I'll help her," Rollins told CNN.
Rollins, the chief architect of President Reagan's reelection landslide in 1984, most recently worked as the national campaign director for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee in 2008, propelling the little-known ex-governor to a first-place finish in the Iowa caucuses that year.
"We'll try and duplicate what Huckabee did in Iowa. It's a good act to follow," said Rollins.

Left hilariously defends Weiner
Joy Behar, Media Matters, Daily Kos, Jon Stewart, Chris Matthews (who suggested Weiner did this because of his wife) and a host of others were either defending Weiner or taking it easy on him. Would they have done that to someone on the other side of the aisle? Barbara Walters in particular went way out of her way to conjure up a possible theory that would actually make Weiner's wife happy he sent those pictures of his private parts. Yeah, she really did that - Glenn has the audio on radio today.
Did Weiner lie during his apology?
Congressman Anthony Weiner yesterday afternoon issued a tearful apology for his actions - or did he? Glenn replayed the press conference from Weiner yesterday and there were a couple of curious descriptions by Weiner. The most interesting was, as he was apologizing, he claimed he sent pics of his private parts as part of a 'joke' between him and a female friend. A joke?
