It's gotten hard to explain. Fearful of waiting too long for government to lead the struggle, and it is one, for education excellence, American business is taking a hand.

In Remembrance of D Day's Anniversary

It is hard to conceive the epic scope of this decisive battle that foreshadowed the end of Hitlers dream of Nazi domination. Overlord was the largest air, land, and sea operation undertaken before or since June 6, 1944. The landing included over 5,000 ships, 11,000 airplanes, and over 150,000 service men. After years of meticulous planning and seemingly endless training, for the Allied Forces, it all came down to this: The boat ramp goes down, then jump, swim, run, and crawl to the cliffs. Many of the first young men (most not yet 20 years old) entered the surf carrying eighty pounds of equipment. They faced over 200 yards of beach before reaching the first natural feature offering any protection. Blanketed by small-arms fire and bracketed by artillery, they found themselves in hell. When it was over, the Allied Forces had suffered nearly 10,000 casualties; more than 4,000 were dead. Yet somehow, due to planning and preparation, and due to the valor, fidelity, and sacrifice of the Allied Forces, Fortress Europe had been breached.

1. The Triumph of Politics
I am sure you will read a lot about Congressman Weiner and his scandal and morality and failed politicians and us versus them and David Vitter, Larry Craig and Ted Kennedy and what have you. I am sure you will. I am not sure you will read anything similar to my take on this, which is admittedly not as partisan as some other takes may be. But, I think it is the right take.
In a different age, Anthony Weiner would have packed up shop and left Congress with a bag over his head in disgrace. Certainly Congressman Lee left in disgrace, but that had as much to do with his family demands and the demands of his constituency as anything else. In noting that Congressman Weiner staying in office is a failure of morality in the present age, left-wing partisans were quick to bring up the names of Sen. David Vitter, Sen. Larry Craig, Sen. John Ensign, and others.
Instead of saying yes the congressman should leave, the partisans say, "What about this guy?" I believe this is largely because politics has triumphed over morality and we are a lesser people because of it.

2. A dumping ground for pork projects
The Senate is going to take up a bill today that fiscal conservatives need to be aware of.
It's S. 782, the "Economic Development Revitalization Act of 2011? We've issued a Key Vote Alert calling for a "NO" vote on S. 782.
This bill reauthorizes the US Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA), which costs $500 million a year, and has proven to be nothing more than a dumping ground for pork projects. Here's just some of the wasteful projects that the EDA has spent our tax dollars on.

3. No, Mr. Diamond, the Fed Doesn't Need Your Expertise
Peter A. Diamond, a professor of economics at MIT, has just published a hissy fit in the NY Times titled "When a Nobel Prize isn't enough." I won't link the piece because of the Times's paywall, so I'll just tell you what he says.
Diamond wants to be a governor of the Federal Reserve. Barack Obama wants the same thing, having nominated Diamond three times now. He had only a small amount of support from Senate Republicans, mostly from Michael Bennett and Judd Gregg. After being dissed by Richard Shelby, Diamond is now withdrawing is candidacy. (There are currently two open Fed governorships.)

4. Supreme Court Voids Ruling Against Hazleton's Immigration Law
It appears that last month's Supreme Court ruling upholding Arizona's E-Verify law will precipitate a potent counteroffensive against the illegal immigration judicial defense industry.
In light of the Court's 5-3 decision validating the right of state and local governments to impose penalties on employers who hire illegal aliens, the high court vitiated a ruling against a similar ordinance passed by government officials in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.

5. Big News From Camp Bachmann
Michele Bachmann is bring Ed Rollins on board to run her Presidential campaign.
This is big and significant news.
Rollins was Ronald Reagan's campaign manager in 1984, a fact downplayed by a lot of people who think Reagan's landslide in 1984 had nothing to do with Rollins.
Whether you are impressed by that or not, pay attention to the next one: Rollins took Mike Huckabee's 2008 upstart campaign into overdrive and gave Romney, McCain, and the rest a run for their money.

6. Huntsman Not Ready for the Big Dance
Over the years I have heard presidential candidates state reasons for skipping the Iowa caucuses. It always leaves me wondering if those are the real reasons for not coming to Iowa. The most recent example of this is Jon Huntsman's announcement that he won't compete in Iowa. Apparently, Huntsman believes that he will not get a fair shake in Iowa because he opposes ethanol subsidies. In my opinion, this excuse seems to have as much credibility as "the dog ate my homework."

7. The Cost of Political Pseudo-Science Shown In Two Examples.
Richard Glover and Dr. Donald Brown are two very different men, in different nations, who work towards a common goal. Each man believes that human pollution has driven a series of chemical and physical changes in the Earth's atmosphere. Each man believes this will damage the world around us and must be fought. Neither man has any ability to objectively prove their belief. Neither man will let that lack of knowledge stand in the way of enforcing their views upon others. Both men indulge in unethical behavior that demonstrates yet another cost that pseudo-science imposes on modern society.
Richard Glover writes opinion pieces for The National Times, a newspaper published in Australia. Climate change has been a major agenda item with the Australian Left which has been in power in The Australian Parliament for the last few years. Current Prime Minister Julia Gillard is attempting to impose a carbon tax to restrict CO2 emissions. Glover apparently supports "Lady Galadriel's" approach to the issue. Thus we can treated to disingenuous passages such as the one presented below.

UN Security Council Resolution 242 adopted on November 22, 1967, is the cornerstone for what it calls "a just and lasting peace" that recognizes Israel's need for "secure and recognized boundaries." The resolution became the foundation for future peace negotiations.
No other nation in the world, acting rationally, has relinquished territories acquired from an aggressor in an act of self-defense.

Washington DC, June 5, 2011. The Reform Party of Syria has learned today, from intelligence sources close to the Assad regime in Lebanon, that Syrians storming through the Golan Height next to the Quneitra crossing are Syrian farmers who have migrated in recent years from the drought-stricken northeast Syria to the south. Estimates put the number at 250,000 impoverished migrants.
Information received cite the regime has paid hundreds of these farmers $1,000 each to show-up and $10,000 to their families should any of them succumb to Israeli fire. In Syria, an average salary is about $200 a month and to these impoverished farmers, such a one-time sum can keep them economically afloat for six months.
Such tactic was used in the past by another defunct Ba'ath Party in Iraq, under Saddam Hussein, to pay Intifada-driven Palestinians the sum of $25,000 to their next-of-kin should they die throwing stones. That measure had a worldwide impact and it seems the Assad regime is using the same play from a twin playbook.

Mosques as centers for jihad
In Brigitte Gabriel's first best-selling book, Because They Hate, she cited a study of materials obtained from dozens of leading mosques across America. The materials were vitriolic, anti-Semitic, anti-democracy, and filled with hate and calls for jihad.
As Andrew Bostom reveals in his recent column below (highlights added), the situation today is far worse than it was just five years ago.
We strongly urge you to read the entire column and forward this to everyone you know. People need to know that eight years ago 81% of Muslims surveyed in the Detroit area agreed with the statement that sharia law should be imposed in Muslim countries-including 59% who STRONGLY agreed.

He and his pious forbears have now completed dismantling Turkey's secular experiment, and achieved the full-throated re-Islamization of Turkish society, an insidious process begun already within the decade after Ataturk's death, in 1938. When currying favor with gullible Western audiences, Erdogan burbles disingenuous ecumenical platitudes about the "Alliance of Civilizations." But in reality, this is an Islamization campaign promoted by the Organization of the Islamic Conference, notably Saudi Arabia, which rewardedErdogan, for his role in the Alliance, specifically, as "services to Islam," with the "King Faisal International Prize," considered the "Nobel prize" of the Arab world. Regardless, Erdogan has always aroused his Muslim constituencies by brazenly appealing to their deep-seated jihadist sentiments as he did while mayor of Istanbul, in 1997, delivering a fiery speech that reminded the masses of these words from the poem "The Soldier's Prayer," written (in 1912) by Turkish nationalist poet Ziya Gokalp:

5 American Soldiers Killed in Iraq Rocket Attack

BAGHDAD -- Five American soldiers died Monday when a barrage of rockets slammed into a base in a Shiite neighborhood of Baghdad -- the largest, single-day loss of life for U.S. forces in Iraq in two years.
The attack follows warnings from Shiite militants backed by Iran and anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr that they would violently resist any effort to keep American troops in Iraq past their year-end deadline to go home.
Although American casualties have dropped considerably in the two years since U.S. troops pulled back from Iraq cities, Shiite militias have begun hammering U.S. bases and vehicles with rockets, rocket-propelled grenades and roadside bombs over the past three months. Time for America to Get Cyber-Serious
In the 1995 movie The Net, Sandra Bullock fights computer hackers attempting to cyber-sabotage her life. The hackers successfully change her identity, manipulate U.S. markets, and access the private personal data of U.S. officials. While the clunky looking computers, cell phones, and storyline in the movie are joked about today, cyber terrorism is a real-and much bigger-threat 16 years later.

Union wants to decide where Boeing builds planes
Boeing's 787 Dreamliner assembly line in South Carolina will cost up to 1,800 jobs in Everett, according to a top union official.
Tom Wroblewski, president of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District Lodge 751, pointed in the union's latest newsletter (pdf) to the 787 'surge' line planned to boost airplane production in Everett by three a month while Charleston works up to that rate.

Ahead of a tough 2012 election, former Virginia Sen. George Allen offered a personal apology Friday for the incident that led to his ouster from Congress in 2006.
Allen, who is running to reclaim his seat in the Senate, spoke at Friday's Faith and Freedom Coalition Conference in Washington, D.C. about the 2006 incident in which he referred to a campaign tracker as "macaca"-- a word that can be used as a racial slur.

3 ways your Social Security payments are already being cut
Still think Social Security is wonderful?
Policy experts have focused on alternative ways of eliminating Social Security's 75-year financing gap, but lost in the debate is the fact that even under current law Social Security will provide less retirement income relative to previous earnings than it does today. Combine the already legislated reductions with potential cuts to close the financing gap, and Social Security may no longer be the mainstay of the retirement system for many people.
In 2002, the frequently quoted replacement rate for the "medium earner" who earned about $42,000 in today's dollars and retired at age 65 was 41%; that is, Social Security benefits were equal to 41% of the individual's previous earnings. Under current law, three factors will reduce this replacement rate: 1) the extension of the full retirement age; 2) the increase in Medicare premiums; and 3) the taxation of Social Security benefits.

(CNSNews.com) - Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has told a conference of international bankers that the rest of the world, notably countries in Asia and Europe, should join the United States in increasing regulations on their financial markets in the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis.
If such countries did not follow the U.S. government's lead, Geithner indicated, then U.S. firms could move their business abroad or take advantage of different regulatory regimes in order to make a profit.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Iran has sent submarines to the Red Sea in the first such deployment by the country's navy in distant waters, a semi-official news agency reported on Tuesday.
The deployment reflects Iran's efforts to show off its naval power. Iran has long sought to upgrade its air defense systems and navy to portray itself as a regional military superpower, as well as prepare for any possible future attacks against the country, saying they would most likely be air and sea-based.

- Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum formally launched his presidential campaign today with a tough and combative speech. Santorum said that Obama was devaluing the dollar with his failed economic policies. He also accused Obama of devaluing our culture by refusing to defend normal marriage between a man and a woman and by promoting abortion at every opportunity. He accused Democrats of pushing ObamaCare to "hook" the American people on Big Government.
Recalling his grandfather, who left Mussolini's Italy to build a new life in America, and the brave passengers on Flight 93 who perished on 9/11 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, when they battled jihadist hijackers, Santorum defended American exceptionalism and promised to lead the country back to its founding principles. - Coming off her bus tour, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin appeared on Fox News Sunday and hit the ball out of the park! Following the interview, host Chris Wallace said, "I thought she was a boffo performance today. It was the first time that I ever saw her and thought 'this woman is a serious - if she decides to run - candidate for president. And a serious possibility to be president.'" House Rebukes Obama
The House of Representatives delivered a stinging rebuke to President Obama's foreign policy Friday. The House passed a resolution authored by Speaker John Boehner stating that the president "has failed to provide Congress with a compelling rationale" for the mission in Libya. The resolution demands that Obama submit a report to Congress within two weeks outlining the goals, costs and justification for continued military intervention there.
While Boehner's resolution was non-binding, Obama should take it seriously as 45 Democrats backed it. Moreover, a second resolution cutting off all funding for the Libya mission received 148 votes. It is worth noting that nearly 80% of House members voted to either end the mission or demand a more thorough explanation for why we are engaged in this "kinetic military action."
Is America Becoming France?
Last week, Gallup released the results of a poll that essentially asked Americans whether they embraced socialism. When asked whether the government "should or should not redistribute wealth by heavy taxes on the rich," 49% of Americans said no, while 47% said yes. While it is encouraging to know that more Americans than not reject Obama's notion that government has a duty to take your hard-earned money in order to "spread the wealth around," this poll shows just how narrowly divided the country is.
But socialism is not the solution to our country's economic troubles. Socialism is the root of the economic rot that plagues much of Europe today. As Margaret Thatcher once said, "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." As this video explains well, there simply are not enough "rich" people and they are not rich enough to fund the government we have now. Free enterprise and robust economic growth that creates more wealth is the solution!
Perry Asks For Prayer
Texas Governor Rick Perry has invited the nation's governors to join him and thousands of citizens at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, August 6th for a day of prayer and fasting for our nation. In an online statement, Perry writes that America is "besieged by financial debt, terrorism, and a multitude of natural disasters." D-Day Remembered
Today is the 67th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. The Allied invasion of Nazi-occupied France was a massive undertaking involving 160,000 troops, 13,000 aircraft and 5,000 ships. It is difficult to imagine the United States engaging in such an operation today. Nine thousand men were killed or wounded in the initial invasion - and that was just the beginning of the campaign to liberate France and defeat Nazi Germany.
On the eve of that liberation, President Franklin Roosevelt did not hesitate to pray - and not just silently by himself. In a radio address, Roosevelt led the nation in prayer. Here are a few excerpts:
"Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity. Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith. ... "For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and goodwill among all Thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home. ... "With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogances. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace - a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil. Thy will be done, Almighty God. Amen."
Something has fundamentally changed in America. Last week, a federal judge threatened to send high school kids to jail for the "crime" of praying at their graduation ceremony. Thankfully, the decision was overturned on appeal. That it had to be overturned is evidence of how far we have drifted from our Judeo-Christian roots.
Mitch Daniels, Culture Warrior?
It is perhaps ironic that Mitch Daniels has been swept up in a political controversy involving abortion. The Indiana governor has spent the last two years calling for a "truce" between liberals and conservatives on social issues. But, as I explain in my Human Events column today, Daniels now finds himself assuming an unlikely role: as one of the principal combatants in the newest front of the abortion battle. |
Liberal vs Conservative: A Spiritual Battle.
Without beating around the bush, I believe the battle being fought in America today goes beyond politics; right vs left. It is a spiritual battle; good vs evil.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

The mindset of the American left is a spirit of Antichrist which is man making himself God.
Before writing me off as a Bible nut, please hear me out. Understanding this reality will explain much of the left's behavior. Because they believe man is God, in their insane arrogance, the left think they can fix everything; legislate equal outcomes and even save or destroy the planet.
Make no mistake about it folks, we are in a spiritual battle. Ask yourself. Specifically, what about Sarah Palin inspires such visceral hatred from the left? The word is "wholesome".
For the most part, Palin promotes love for God, family and country. She is passionately determined to thwart Obama's plan to "fundamentally transform America".
While realizing Palin is human and does not walk on water, Palin epitomizes heartland principles and values embraced by most Americans. Thus, we are Palin and Palin is us.
The large number of Christians in the tea party believe in right and wrong. The left has a huge problem with the concept of right and wrong. Their religion of Liberalism embraces Moral Relativism.
For these reasons, Palin and tea party are as repulsive to liberals as showing Dracula the cross.
There is definitely an anti-wholesome, anti-goodness vibe coming out of Hollywood. Hollywood leftists are vehemently anti death penalty. They rally around convicted murderers. They think anyone harming a puppy should be beaten within any inch of their life. These Hollywood libs pride themselves as being Lords of Compassion and Tolerance.
And yet, these same libs have a cow whenever someone merely suggests to a woman that she think twice before aborting her baby. Tell me there "ain't" something spiritually wrong with such a mindset.
Because liberal elitists think man is God, they assume moral authority to confiscate as much control over our lives we simple minded god fearing peons will allow, including procreation.
I picked up a government funded brochure at my local library which basically said birthing babies is an irresponsible abuse of the planet.
Folks, this is leftist control freak hogwash! The seven billion people who live on the planet could fit in Texas enjoying about the same amount of living space as residents of New York.
God said be fruitful and multiply. But then, what the heck does God know?
In her book, "Godless", Ann Coulter said, "If a Martian landed in America and set out to determine the nation's official state religion, he would have to conclude it is Liberalism, while Christianity and Judaism are prohibited by law".
I concur with Ms Coulter. The mainstream media is controlled by zealots of Liberalism who I believe are driven by a spirit of Antichrist; man is God. Thus, only man can and will fix everything.
Why does the left aggressively demand that we show utmost respect for every religion under the sun except Christianity? Remember when libs Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar stormed off the set of The View TV program when they concluded Bill O'Reilly dissed Muslims?
And yet, Rosie O'Donnell outrageously stated "Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America". Not one peep of disagreement or disapproval from the left.
Islam suppresses women. And yet, liberal self proclaimed feminists Goldberg, Behar and O'Donnell illogically defend Islam. These three feminists despise the extraordinarily successful Christian liberated woman, Sarah Palin. Rosie O'Donnell even lamented that Osama bin Laden did not get a fair trial.
Unquestionably, these women have issues with America and Christians; a spirit of Antichrist. At the center of Christianity is a divine Jesus. If Jesus is God, the left is not.
Even our most liberal president ever, Obama, dissed heartland Americans for "bitterly clinging to their god and guns". Would a true Christian berate folks for finding security in trusting God?
Like an episode of Star Trek, the left believes universal peace can be achieved via America apologizing and admitting to the world that "we suck", surrendering our power, signing treaties and singing a few verses of "Kumbaya".
They believe the greatest source of evil in the world is warmongering Christian white guys like George Bush. If only Bush had, "Given peace a chance".
Liberals always cater to man's lowest base instincts. They hate standards for behavior, labeling all rebuke of bad behavior as being intolerant and judgmental. And yet, they believe without divine influence, man is capable of someday achieving universal peace. Totally absurd.
Christians believe that though we strive to do the right thing, the heart of man is critically flawed which is why we were in need of a savior, Jesus Christ.
Obama's promise to "fundamentally transform America" is a spiritual attack on our freedom, liberty and culture.
Despite the left's relentless attempts to ban God from America's public square, the emergence and power of the tea party tells me God is still on our side.
Mr. Obama, though your liberal zealots perceive you to be "the messiah", God is still on the throne. Come November 2012, you're fired!

America clocked up a record last week. The latest drop in house prices meant that the cost of real estate has fallen by 33% since the peak - even bigger than the 31% slide seen when John Steinbeck was writing The Grapes of Wrath.
Unemployment has not returned to Great Depression levels but at 9.1% of the workforce it is still at levels that will have nerves jangling in the White House. The last president to be re-elected with unemployment above 7.2% was Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

In mid 2007 rumors started to circulate about Huma Abedin a stunningly beautiful staffer working for Hillary Clinton. The wagging tongues of Washington asked logical questions about Huma. "If Hillary is bisexual (as had long been thought and occasionally uttered in public), what is the nature of her relationship with the dark eyed enchanting Abedin, a young lady from a strict Muslim family?"

This week, National Right to Work Foundation staff attorneys filed a motion to intervene for three South Carolina Boeing workers in the National Labor Relations Board's outrageous complaint against the airline manufacturer.
As you know, the union tyrants and their allies in the Obama Administration would rather shut down a plant than allow Boeing employees to work where they can't be forced to pay dues or "fees" to Big Labor.
Now, thanks to the dedication of Foundation supporters, real Boeing workers who could be forced out of their jobs are demanding their voices be heard.
You can bet Big Labor and Obama appointees will do everything they can to prevent the independent-minded workers from testifying.
Generous contributions from Right to Work supporters helped the Foundation run advertisements in South Carolina newspapers offering free legal aid to Boeing employees.
Newspapers including Charleston's The Post and Courier, Columbia's The State, and the Charleston Regional Business Journal and local television news programs on WCSC and WBTW picked up the story.
Our extensive media outreach paid off, and the three Boeing workers contacted the Foundation for free legal aid.

Alabama Passes Toughest Immigration Law in the U.S.
On Thursday, June 2, the Alabama Legislature passed arguably the toughest state immigration bill in the United States. House Bill 56, much like Arizona's SB 1070, covers a wide array of immigration matters including employment, voting, education, and enforcement. HB 56 requires that all employers in the state use E-Verify (Sections 9 & 15). It also requires law enforcement officers to verify the immigration status of a person lawfully stopped for a violation of state or local law when the officer has reasonable suspicion the person is unlawfully present in the U.S.

New York, California Revolt against Secure Communities
In the latest effort by amnesty advocates to thwart immigration enforcement, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced last week he was suspending the State's cooperation with Secure Communities because of its impact on families, immigrant communities and law enforcement. (CNN, June 1, 2011) In a letter to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Counsel to Governor Cuomo, Mylan L. Denerstein wrote "The heart of concern is that the program, conceived of as a method of targeting those who pose the greatest threat in our communities, is in fact having the opposite effect and compromising public safety by deterring witnesses to crime and others from working with law enforcement."

House Homeland Security Subcommittee Passes Key Border Security Bills
The House Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security passed three border security bills last week, sending them to the full Homeland Security Committee for consideration. (Subcommittee Markup, June 2, 2011) The House panel also stood firm and rejected three amendments offered by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) which would have stated every border town is not dangerous; required protection of all rights of persons (including illegal aliens) encountered along the U.S. border; and required safety provisions given to all persons (including illegal aliens) found to be enduring treacherous weather conditions and terrain along the border.

House Adds Immigration Amendments to FY 2012 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill
The House on Thursday passed with 231 votes a Homeland Security appropriations bill, H.R. 2017, that would provide the agency with $40.6 billion for fiscal year 2012. Key programs funded by the bill include E-Verify at $132 million, 287(g) at $5.4 million, and over $5 billion for border security fencing, infrastructure, and technology.

Maryland Residents Fight Back Against Tuition Breaks for Illegal Aliens
Last Tuesday, Maryland true immigration reform activists turned in 62,496 signatures in a first step to preventing in-state tuition rates for illegal aliens. The group needs just over 55,000 signatures to force a vote on the measure providing tuition breaks to aliens in Maryland illegally. In order to continue the fight against illegal immigration, one-third of the total number of needed signatures had to be submitted by May 31 at midnight. Maryland's Governor, Martin O'Malley, signed a bill into law earlier this legislative session that allowed illegal alien students who have attended Maryland high schools for three years to receive in-state tuition at Maryland colleges.

Incoming DNC Chair: Republicans Believe Illegal Immigration Should be a Crime
At a recent Christian Science Monitor breakfast, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Shultz (D-FL) denounced Republicans for thinking that illegal immigration should "in fact be a crime." The incoming chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee told listeners that Democrats want "comprehensive immigration reform" and that the 12 million illegal aliens currently in the U.S. are "a necessity" for the economy. She then said that the general "Republican solution ... in the last three years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries and that in fact it should be a crime and we should arrest them all." That, she said, is what Rep. Sensenbrenner's 2005 legislation proposed.

The new finding by the Census Bureau reflects the most profound change in the nature of American society ever to have occurred, yet practically no one talks about it. Only 48 percent of American households are made up of married couples. ... The study found that even relatively privileged children suffered when their parents divorced. ... In the end, it's the children who pay for the devastating effects of divorce. So, after nearly two years of 'experts' telling us that the typical tea party member is two holes in a white sheet shy of being a Klansman, guess who is arguably the most popular tea party candidate for president? Herman Cain, a black businessman. Perhaps the most telling sign of the changing racial landscape comes with voting patterns, though not at the ballot box. Blacks -- particularly among the young and educated -- are voting with their feet by leaving cities like New York, Chicago and Detroit in huge numbers and moving to places like Atlanta, Charlotte and Dallas. Clement Price, a Rutgers history professor, told the New York Times, 'The black urban experience has essentially lost its appeal with blacks in America.' ... For years, liberals have glibly smeared the GOP as racist because it is disproportionately Southern. Obviously there are historical reasons behind the charge, but in 2011? To fix public schools, you have to control public schools.
And there's little control when teachers unions, with their self-serving agendas, question every cost-cutting proposal and reform on the table.
That's why so many state governments have taken swift action to limit the power of organized labor in public schools. Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Idaho and Michigan were the first, and Tennessee added itself to the list on Wednesday.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam affixed his signature on House Bill 130 and Senate Bill 113, ending collective bargaining and giving local school boards the full authority to operate their districts in the manner they choose.

You might have seen the vicious Mediscare video by now entitled "America the Beautiful." If you haven't, you should. It's from folks who just the other day were chanting the mantra of "civility." It's a taste of what the left will be serving up as 2012 approaches.
As the song "America the Beautiful" plays, a man in a dark suit with a likeness to Republican Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin pushes an elderly woman in a wheelchair down a sidewalk. The message on the screen informs us that the Republican Medicare reform proposal will "privatize" Medicare. The man diverts to a steep path as the woman's smile turns to terror. She fights as he pushes her faster. He then dumps her headfirst off a cliff, which we see clearly from the front. The only thing missing is a vampire giving her a hickey on the way down.

First Amendment Protects Prayer, Not Obscene Violence

James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and the rest of the framers of the Constitution would be astounded to hear a federal judge order a valedictorian's prayer is not protected by the First Amendment, but marketing sickening video games to children is protected by the First Amendment.
On June 3, I debated Barry Lynn, president of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, on Fox News Channel. Lynn's group represents in court an agnostic family suing a Texas school district.
Like most high schools, Medina Valley Independent School District allows the class valedictorian to deliver a graduation address. This year's valedictorian, Angela Hildenbrand, is a Bible-believing Christian.

The Two Alternatives for Health Care Policy

National health care costs have been growing faster than the economy for close to 100 years. But that cost growth accelerated over the past 50 years, soaring from 5% of GDP in 1960, to 10% in 1985, to 17% in 2009. That is the highest proportion of output devoted to health care of any country in the world, by far. Second place France comes in at 11.2% of GDP, followed by Switzerland (10.7%), Germany (10.4%), and the United Kingdom (8.7%). The OECD average is 9%.
Since we still have the largest economy in the world by far, that means we spend far more on health care than any other country in the world. U.S. health costs totaled $2.5 trillion in 2009, more than the entire economies of every other country in the world except China, Japan, Germany, and France.

The Democrats' Big Government Breakout

At stake is whether the prosperity of the American Dream that has drawn millions to these shores over the years will endure. The latest Social Security Trustees Report tells us that the program will be insolvent by the year 2037. The combined unfunded liability of Social Security and Medicare has reached nearly $107 trillion in today's dollars. That is about seven times the size of the U.S. economy and 10 times the size of the national debt. Those entitlement programs, along with others, account for nearly 60 percent of federal spending. They are what Congress calls non-discretionary spending. About half of discretionary spending is for national defense. Each year, non-discretionary spending consumes a higher and higher percentage of the federal budget.

USDA to Spend $10 Million to Help Fund Michelle Obama's 'Food Deserts'

First, it was the creation of a new "plate" graphic that instructs Americans about what they should be eating. Now, the Agriculture Department is infusing more financial resources into a grant program that will promote farmer's markets in rural and urban areas across America.
This year, the USDA will provide $10 million in grants, thus doubling what was allocated during Fiscal Year 2010, to help create roadside stands and healthy food outlets. These new venues will be strategically placed in "food deserts." In the past, Michelle Obama has described these areas as places where "...families wind up buying their groceries at the local gas station or convenience store, places that offer few, if any, healthy options."

Caller describes inspirational visit to Joplin
Glenn took a call today from a woman who says she just knew she had to go to Joplin to help out. Disabled and not exactly sure what she could do to help, she didn't let that serve as an excuse and went ahead with the trip. Not only was she able to help out, she herself was inspired by what she saw. Individuals from the surrounding area coming together and helping people who have lost everything - it's the kind of example America needs to see and hear about because it's the evidence American can survive dreaded 'cuts'.
