Founding Fathers

Quote:

"And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever."

~ Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, Query 18, 1781

Header

Due to several occurrences beyond our control, I have decided to postpone our Citizen's Action Day event on June 6.

One of the reasons for the event was to communicate a grassroots message to the legislature. Unfortunately, we learned this week that the legislators are in mandatory ethics training the exact day and time.

Due in part to this scheduling conflict, we are POSTPONING this event. Also, your time to travel to the Capitol is valuable and we feel a sense of duty out of respect for your time.

As a result, we will reschedule this event for the Fall. And during the summer months we will take the AFP-PA "My Voice-My Choice" Freedom tour across the state.

Over the next few months, we'll be hosting events in Pittsburgh, Scranton, Philadelphia and other towns across our great Commonwealth.

Stay tuned as we press forward on the issues that matter the most to you.

For Prosperity,

Sam Rohrer, State Director
Jennifer Stefano, Director of Communications
Katy Abram, Director of Policy
Vonne Andring, Director of Field Operations

"We have gone to the capitals of our states and to the capitals of our government.  We have talked to all the power brokers.  The only power broker, the only seat of government that can and will solve this problem with or without us is God.  It is time to return inside the walls that surround Jerusalem and stand with people of all faiths, all around the world," Glenn said in his initial announcement.

"In August, whether I'm there with seven people or 10 people or there alone, I will stand.  I ask you to join me.  I also ask you to take this message globally, to take this to every corner of the earth.  If you have family living overseas, this is not an America solution.  This is a people of faith solution.  This is a people all over the world solution.  I ask you to help get this word out."

The Dreyfuss Initiative: An Evening With Richard Dreyfuss

ncc The Dreyfuss Initiative: An Evening With Richard Dreyfuss

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 7-9 PM at The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia

A FREE EXCLUSIVE  ONE-NIGHT ONLY EVENT FOR LISTENERS OF THE NEW TALK RADIO 1210, WPHT

Academy Award winning actor Richard Dreyfuss is best known for starring in film, television, and theater roles since the late 1960s, including the films American Graffiti, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Goodbye Girl, Stakeout, Always, What About Bob? and Mr. Holland's Opus.  He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1977 for The Goodbye Girl, and was nominated in 1995 for Mr. Holland's Opus.

Now,  Richard Dreyfuss is taking on a new role. The Oscar-winning actor is Founder and President of The Dreyfuss Initiative, which calls for a cross-curricular study of civics in our public schools that incorporates...

- HISTORY      - LOGIC      - REASON      - CRITICAL THINKING

The Dreyfuss Initiative, a nonprofitorganization committed to revitalizing America's civic culture.   Richard also serves on the American Bar Association's Education Committee, the Board of the National Constitution Center, and was Senior Research Advisory Member of St. Antony's College, Oxford University.

THIS WILL BE AN ENTERTAINING EVENING FOR PARENTS, FOR STUDENTS, FOR EVERYONE!

Richard will share why he believes that too many of us don't realize the power we hold in a democracy. The solution, he says, is to change the way students learn about civics, the study of the rights and duties of citizenship.  Learn why we need a national standard that calls for teaching reason, logic and critical thinking skills before teaching government as a way of providing perspective and context in civics classes.

ARE AMERICAN STUDENTS PREPARED TO INHERIT THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR GREAT NATION?

Richard Dreyfuss joins 1210s Dom Giordano for this unique 2-hour LIVE event and will lay out the critically important issues, and discuss why he believes we must be preparing our nation's next generation to be effective and engaged citizens.

The event is free.  Seating is limited.  You must register to attend.

Last Monday some of us went to Baltimore to attend Brigitte Gabriel's conference. There were approximately 500 to 600 people.  The conference started with an overview of the story of ACT for America and how it's organization and effort are affecting so much of the whole country. How members of a local chapters help influence the US Congress.  The ACT presentation also included several little videos about big chapters and how they worked, and an extensive report about all legislative victories that without ACT wouldn't have taken place.

People were in silent, expectant, and taking notes.

After the video showing the ACT machine in full operation, Brigitte spoke of Lebanon, an example of prosperity and generosity, one of the most advanced civilizations, the Paris combined with the Swiss Banking Center of the Middle East with its mythological Mediterranean beaches and woods of cedars mentioned in the Bible, that were destroyed by tanks, bombs, and fedayines, attacks every night until it was left to smoking shambles and destruction.

Hospitality and the pride of accepting all races religions and cultures returned blood and death instead.

Soon it became clear that this was not going to be just a common conference as sparks started to illuminate the spirits. The public started to applaud frantically standing thrilled with admiration and enthusiasm.

Brigitte had the ability to make us all feel her vibration and her spiritual strength as if it was our own.  The only thing that crossed my mind was to thank God to have sent such a talented communicator.  I intend to bring Brigitte to the Union League in Philadelphia.

So, if you don't want to start seeing burkas in our neighborhoods, if you don't want no-go zone's around us, if you don't want to be surrounded by terrorist training camps, if you don't want to have honor killings and shariah law in our midst, please RSVP and let me know that you will support bringing Brigette to our area.

So please let me know your thoughts and wishes. Will you help? Will you fight with us?

RSVP:  YES?

ACT of Baltimore made it for real!

NYC Rally for Airport Sanity & Security

Friday, June 10, 2011 4:30 PM

Union Square Park 14th Street New York, NY

Who's hosting? Rebecca

How to find us: Park's South Side

This message is from NYC residents trying to nullify the TSA's security and restore Fourth Amendment and due process rights.  Please give it your attention. Thank you.

----

As a NYC resident who lived through the attacks on 9/11, I am tired of politicians exploiting it for government power grabs and excess.  And I am not alone.

Join New York City residents as they speak out against the TSA's extremism and support the nullification movement afoot in Texas and Utah to criminalize the TSA's pat-downs and invasive security measures.  (They violate the Fourth Amendment and have an ineffectiveness rate of 70%!)

A coalition of Republicans, Democrats and independents have united to support legislation banning whole image body scanners and invasive pat-downs throughout NYC.

In November 2010, NYC Councilman David Greenfield and 10 other Councilmembers proposed legislation to do just that.  Unfortunately, the City Council never introduced it.  (Hence, the public pressure.)

While there is no need to check the underpants of our grandmothers, mothers or children there is a need for sound, common sense security at public portals.  The TSA has failed in this regard and if Senator Schumer has his way, whole image body scanners will make their way into our railways and subways.

This event is nonpartisan and includes sponsors:

We Wont Fly, Electronic Privacy Information Center, Manhattan Libertarian Party  and NY Campaign for Liberty

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Susie Castillo, Former Miss. USA
  • NYC Councilman Dan Halloran
  • Michael Boldin, Founder, Tenth Amendment Center
  • Jim Babb, Founder, We Wont Fly
  • Amie Stepanovich, National Security Fellow, Electronic Privacy Information Center
  • Michael Roberts, Pilot & Founder, Fed Up Flyers
  • Julian Heicklen, Activist, Fully Informed Jury Association

If you do not live in NYC, please donate just $5 to help.

You can make a secure donation through PAYPAL

RedState

RedState Morning Briefing

For June 3, 2011

1. What You Won't Be Hearing

In all of the discussions about our current economic state, a possible regression or double dip recession, out-of-control debts, and continued high unemployment there is one conversation those who frame the media, generate the news, and pass around their opinions as "objective" pontiffs and prognosticators of politics will never engage in.

I am of course talking about the failure of Keynesian economic policies.

Now, if Ronald Reagan were president or George Bush were president or any other Republican were president, or if the Republicans were able to get their legislative initiatives out of Congress, the headlines in the same economic climate would be "death of supply side economics." In fact, we can see that in history.

After Republican losses in 1982, the television and newspaper pundits immediately following the election suggested that Reagan's economic vision and voodoo economic policies had been rejected by the voters. In 1992, voters were still rejecting Republican economic policies. In 2006, suddenly voters were no longer conservative. 2008 confirmed for many in the media and Democrats that the nation had drifted to the left.

This does not happen when Democrats are defeated at the polls.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

2. Roger Ailes and Mao: Basically the Same Guy

Those bastions of objectivity over at Rolling Stone magazine have taken a break from publishing off the record comments and covering the exploits of Lady GaGa to defend America against non-liberal news bias. Their target, of course, is Roger Ailes, President of the Fox News Channel.

As Brent Bozell at NewsBusters points out, the alleged "writer" used anonymous sources to make the obvious connection that being celebrated for success at a party is almost indistinguishable from a communist dictator with 70 million deaths on his record.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. A Republic, if you can keep it

When queried about the type of government the Constitutional Convention had just created, Benjamin Franklin famously replied, "A Republic, if you can keep it."

Each generation of Americans must fight to retain that delicate balance between tyranny and anarchy that we like to call a Constitutional Republic.

The National Popular Vote Initiative, should it pass, would destroy our Republic.

It really is that simple.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. Jim Tucker Resorts to Desperation in Opposition to Pension Reform

Louisiana Speaker of the House Jim Tucker is attempting to defeat needed pension reform in Louisiana by falsely claiming that requiring Louisiana state employees to contribute additional money to their pension is a payroll tax, which he opposes (because of course he is a fiscal conservative and all fiscal conservatives oppose taxes). Tucker has confirmed that he intends to treat the pension reform as a tax in a letter to the bill's sponsor, which has been provided to RedState. You can read the full text of the letter here (warning, .pdf).

Tucker hinges his argument on the absolutely incorrect claim that the additional revenue the State will collect if the employees' pension contribution is increased by 40% will be deposited in the State's general fund.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

5. Reform on the Ropes - Prison Reform

Currently, the Louisiana prison system is served by 11 state prisons. Some years ago, the State of Louisiana built three essentially identical prisons - the Allen, Avoyelles, and Winn correctional centers - which served as something of an experiment. The Avoyelles correctional center was run and staffed by State employees. The Allen and Winn correctional centers were run by private companies under 10-year contracts - the GEO Group and Corrections Corporation of America - both of whom are experienced companies that run prisons all over the country.

Consistent with what you might expect as a conservative, the prisons run by the private corporations proved to be run just as efficiently and effectively as the Avoyelles prison, only much cheaper. Currently, the Louisiana Department of Corrections is paying $42.30 per inmate per day to house prisoners at Avoyelles. The private companies are housing prisoners at the Allen and Winn facilities at an average of $31.50 per day, providing another data point in support of the conservative belief that there is almost nothing a private company cannot do better and more efficiently than the government.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

6. "Official Time" or Unofficial Scam? Your tax dollars are being used for union business.

One would think that, when union members pay union dues, the money would pay for the time their union representatives spend representing them on the job. Well, that's not always the case. Both, in the private sector and the public sector, it is not unheard of for an employer to agree to pay for the union representatives' time spent in talking with members to drum up investigate grievances and meet with management.

In the private sector, an employer who chooses to pay union representatives to do union business does so at his (or his shareholders') own expense. In the public-sector, however, when management agrees to pay union representatives to do union business, that comes straight from taxpayers' pockets.

Gloatingly recall all the international Marxists from Jean Paul Sartre to Pablo Picasso who opposed their execution. Then point out that President Eisenhower was entirely vindicated in his decision to make the traitors Julius and Ethel fry: as the Soviet VENONA cables revealed, they had indeed sold America's atomic secrets to the world's most evil regime.

Ridicule the claim-made by the leftist think tank The New Economics Foundation in their Happy Planet Index-that Cubans are the 7th happiest people in the world.

Yeah, that's why so many of them risk being drowned or eaten by tiger sharks trying to get to the United States (whose people are apparently only the world's 114th happiest).

Video: Recruiting a jihadist martyr

A chilling 2:50 video demonstrates the relationship between jihadist ideology and terrorism that the Obama administration so obsessively denies.

In the video you will see how a suicide bomber is recruited through the call to jihad.

RECRUITING AND BRAINWASHING OF A TERRORIST - SCOOP

Sun Tzu, in his classic work The Art of War, states that you must know your enemy in order to defeat your enemy.

It is jihad that motivates our enemies. It is jihad that motivated the Ft. Hood shooter, Christmas Day bomber, and the Times Square bomber. It is jihad that motivates the Muslim Brotherhood.

Will Jewish Voters Abandon Obama in 2012?

Alan I. Abramowitz, Senior Columnist

June 2nd, 2011

President Obama's recent speech calling on the Israeli government to accept Israel's 1967 borders as a starting point for negotiations toward a peace agreement with the Palestinians has led to widespread speculation that large numbers of Jewish voters may turn against Obama in 2012. Republican presidential candidates and congressional leaders have criticized the president's speech even though his support for the 1967 borders as a starting point for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations has been the official policy of the U.S. government for some time.

But regardless of whether the president was breaking new ground in his speech, how realistic is the belief that a substantial number of Jewish voters would abandon their traditional loyalty to the Democratic Party out of concern over Obama's support for the state of Israel? Based on an analysis of Jewish public opinion and voting behavior over the past two decades, the answer to this question appears to be that such a scenario is not very realistic for at least three reasons.

Labor market worries rise on weak private sector job growth

'Planned' layoffs on the rise

U.S. private-sector payroll growth slowed sharply in May, falling to the lowest level in eight months and prompting some economists to lower forecasts for job growth in Friday's U.S. government report.

The ADP Employment Services report is the latest in a string of data suggesting economic growth remained sluggish early in the second quarter after hitting a soft patch in the first months of the year. The economy grew at a tepid 1.8 percent annual rate in the first three months of the year, softer than analysts originally anticipated.

The Obama administration said Wednesday that the government will lose about $14 billion in taxpayer funds from the bailout of the U.S. auto industry.

In a report from the president's National Economic Council, officials said that figure is down from the 60 percent the Treasury Department originally estimated the government would lose following its $80 billion bailout of Chrysler and General Motors in 2009.

Time For Thoughtful Moves in Libya

American military action in foreign wars shouldn't be taken cavalierly. But President Obama took it that way when he thrust American troops aimlessly into an undefined war in Libya.

Not only did the President fail to address Congress for approval; he gave the American people little information about his goals for the endeavor. After three months of conflict, Congress is carefully assessing the situation in Libya and forcing the President to confront the issue head on.

WASHINGTON TIMES - The United Nations' population experts recently rocked the world by projecting the planet will be home to a larger-than-expected 10.1 billion people by 2100. To some, the august body used statistical "magic" to arrive at this number. To others, the 10.1 billion figure is too low - a calamitous 15 billion people, they argue, is closer to the truth... PATRICK GARRY, RA ANALYST - Republicans seem to be on the defensive in the debate over Medicare and the federal budget deficit. Fed Official: Jobless Rate May Need 5 Years to Heal

Thursday, 02 Jun 2011

The high unemployment rate means the Fed's ultra-easy money policies remain the right course of action, top Federal Reserve officials said on Wednesday.

High unemployment is not a "quickly resolvable problem," but April's job gains show that the economic recovery is on a firmer footing, Cleveland Fed President Sandra Pianalto said.

"We've got a long way to go before labor markets can be described as healthy again," Pianalto told the Columbus Metropolitan Club.

Democrats Worry New Laws Threaten their Illiterate, Illegal, Dead Voting Base
By Danny Tyree, FloydReports.com

According to Newsmax, Republican-controlled state legislatures nationwide are stiffening voting laws with changes that include requiring valid photo identification, restricting early voting and imposing stricter rules on those who can register to vote.

Republicans assert that the changes are to ensure voters are qualified. Democrats counter that the changes are politically motivated and aimed at discouraging young and minority voters - many of whom comprise the party's base.

Reading between the lines, the Democratic argument boils down to "Many of the people with whom our message resonates most strongly are too lazy, uninformed, or muddle-headed to get out and vote. NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT."

Courage, Sacrifice, and the Anti-American in the White House
By Don Feder, FloydReports.com

Speaking at the dedication of a cemetery at Gettysburg, just months after the climatic battle of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln called on the Americans of his day to "highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain."

That's the challenge Americans confront - not just on Memorial Day, but every day. Will all of the sacrifice, the suffering and the heroism be for naught?

But it's good to have an occasion like Memorial Day to focus our attention - to think of the Americans who gave so much, in some cases everything, so that an ideal elegant in its simplicity (government of the people, by the people and for the people) would endure down through the ages.

On Sunday, I thought of the Continental soldiers, their feet wrapped in rags, who left bloody footprints in the snow during....

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka sat down for an interview with Bloomberg News this week, and expressed some dissatisfaction with how well President Obama has been serving union interests.  Among other things, he decried the "wasted energy" spent on "hysteria about the federal deficit," Obama's support for various free-trade agreements, and insufficiently vigorous persecution of companies the labor bosses don't like, such as Boeing.

Trumka is being awfully tough on Obama, who has been one of America's greatest producers of a resource Big Labor depends upon for its profits: anti-competition.
Obama may well be able to take a place in history beside the anti-competition grandmasters who brought us the Great Depression.  Massive stimulus spending is a way to override the judgment of the markets, providing "magical" advantages to well-connected beneficiaries.  Huge bailouts eliminate competition by erasing the consequences of failure.  Carefully targeted regulations, designed to help selected "winners" chosen by the government, replace competition with ideology.
Anti-competition is the fuel for Obama's dismal economic model.  It's sad that America is drowning in the toxic waste produced by those messy and inefficient engines.  It doesn't have to be this way.  Information Age technology provides a route to a highly elevated state of vibrant competition, where highly informed consumers have easy access to a vast array of goods and services.

Of course those who rely upon anti-competition think there should be more of it, no matter how impoverished the rest of us become.  Their hunger is, understandably, insatiable.  Everyone else should understand that the end of competition is the dissolution of both freedom and general prosperity, for wealth is a function of choice, and competition is the atomic fire created by the explosion of choice.  You will know you are free when you hear the thunder of capitalists engaged in fair battle to win the

10-Year-Old Sensation Delivers Rousing Rendition of National Anthem at NBA Finals

President Obama is holding three free trade agreements hostage for more failed TAA spending.

Action Alert: Support Free Trade and Reject TAA

President Obama and the left are currently holding three free trade agreements hostage in order to force conservatives to accept more welfare spending. At stake are trade agreements with South Korea, Columbia and Panama that will create jobs right here in America.

>> Take action: demand votes on three free trade agreements.

President Obama wants a continuation of Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) before voting on the free trade agreements. TAA gives extravagant benefits to a very select few unemployed: two years of job training, allowances, money for job search and relocation, a health care tax credit and two-year wage insurance to supplement lower earnings if they accept a job that pays less than their previous job.

This expensive program isn't even effective! There is no evidence TAA results in high quality jobs. It duplicates other benefits and is a waste of taxpayer dollars.

>> Take action: urge your Representative to reject TAA.

Rep. Dennis Ross is circulating a letter calling for the elimination of TAA and the passage of these trade agreements on their own merit. If Congress and this administration are truly dedicated to creating jobs and eliminating waste, this is the perfect start.

TAA needs to expire, and these free trade agreements need to be ratified. Take action now to help us achieve this goal: urge your Representative to support Rep. Ross's letter, demand votes that will help create jobs, and reject more welfare spending.

Thank you for joining us and standing up for conservative principles.

Sincerely,

National Right To Work Committee

"We will hunt you down . . . slit your throats . . . drink your blood. I will have your decapitated head on a pike in the Madison town square."

Those are the words of a union militant aimed directly at a Wisconsin state legislator for daring to vote to restrict Big Labor's forced dues control over Wisconsin state workers.

There were literally dozens of similar recorded death threats along with acts of vandalism leveled against Wisconsin state legislators and Governor Scott Walker for not towing the union boss line.

Even more ominous, the Wisconsin State Journal reported police found "dozens of rounds of live ammunition outside the Capitol" during the height of the Wisconsin protests.

Thankfully union militants did not use that ammunition to make good on their threats . . . at least not yet.

Unfortunately, just last month the New York Daily News reported that a small group of union whistle blowers and members of the Communications Workers of America were not so lucky.

After reporting a timesheet-padding scheme by their local union bosses, one of the whistle blowers was beaten so severely by a union thug he suffered two herniated discs and had to undergo knee surgery.

Another whistle blower found a dead rat in his locker along with a note he would be "taken care of." And another stated he was told: "If I continue to complain about their finances, they would have me killed."

The fact is nearly every day ordinary working men and women face death threats, harassment, vandalism and bodily harm if they dare defy the dictates of union officials.

Union bosses consider themselves above the law because -- they are -- thanks to the notorious Supreme Court Enmons decision.

Today you and I have an opportunity to put an end to all this.

.

The fact is, for decades union bosses and their underlings have committed thousands of reported incidents of violence, extortion, vandalism and even murder.

And in most of these cases these vicious acts of violence and intimidation have not even been investigated, much less prosecuted and punished.

Ever since the Supreme Court's infamous 1973 Enmons decision, union bosses have been granted immunity from prosecution for acts of violence and vandalism they orchestrate in the so-called "pursuit of legitimate union objectives."

This outrageous loophole in federal law has effectively tied the hands of federal law enforcement officers and has permitted union bosses and their handpicked "enforcers" to achieve their union goals - by any means necessary.

And, it's no secret union bosses are all too happy to use violence and terror to achieve their number one goal: force more and more working men and women into paying union dues.

You and I need to make sure union bosses and their henchmen are subject to the same laws as every other lowlife and criminal.

That's why the Freedom From Union Violence Act must be a top priority in Congress.

But to make this happen I'm going to need your help.

First, will you sign the petition to your Congressman and Senators urging them to co-sponsor and vote for the Freedom From Union Violence Act?That's why it's vital you sign the petition urging your Congressman and Senators to cosponsor and vote for the Freedom From Union Violence Act IMMEDIATELY

Next, can I also count on you to chip in with a contribution of $10 or more to help the Committee pay for and, just as importantly, expand this critical program?

If we are going to force the politicians in Washington to stand up to the union bosses and end this legalized union terrorism once and for all, it will take an army of concerned and committed Americans just like you.

You see, unless the politicians in Washington are forced to pay attention, they will continue to turn a blind eye to the violence committed by their union boss patrons.

With your help, we hope to contact up to 1.5 million Americans in the next few weeks who are outraged union bosses have the green light to act like they're above the law.

Your generous contribution will also help pay for costly radio, T.V., and newspaper advertising, which, if funds allow, we hope to run in swing states and districts calling on politicians by name to support the Freedom From Union Violence Act.

Your generous contribution today can also enable us to personally brief hundreds of influential nationally syndicated columnists, editorial writers and talk radio hosts in order to build momentum in the media for the Freedom From Union Violence Act.

So, please, sign the petition and, if at all possible, chip in with a contribution of $10 or more to the National Right to Work Committee so we can mobilize the grassroots army needed to finally plug this Big Labor loophole of violence.

With your help we will put an end to Big Labor's terror tactics once and for all.

Sincerely,

Mark Mix

P.S. Today we have an historic opportunity to finally close the loophole that exempts union bosses and their handpicked "enforcers" from federal prosecution for violent acts which would send any other brutal thug or criminal to jail.

So please, sign the petition demanding your Congressman and Senators cosponsor and vote for the Freedom From Union Violence Act.

Let's make the politicians in Washington explain to their constituents why violent union officials should be allowed to get away with murder.

 Campaign for Working Families

2012 Update

  • A report this morning hints that Rudy Giuliani may be serious about running for president. According to Politico, Giuliani requested a meeting with "Joe McQuaid, the influential publisher of the Union Leader newspaper, during a trip to New Hampshire this week." A CNN poll released late last week found Giuliani leading the GOP race with 16%.

You may recall that during the 2008 campaign, Giuliani ignored Iowa and New Hampshire, and literally bet everything on winning the Florida primary. But without the media attention and momentum of competing in those early states, his campaign faltered. When he finished third in Florida, his campaign was finished.

  • Herman Cain's campaign released a new web video that is getting some attention. Not only does the video seek to establish Cain as the Tea Party candidate, but he directly takes on the issue of race. One black woman in the video says, "When people ask me about the Tea Party, they ask me if it's about color, and I say 'Yes it is. It's about red, white and blue.'" A new poll of Iowa Republican voters finds Cain tied for second place, with Sarah Palin, at 15%. Both Palin and Cain were trailing Mitt Romney at 21%.
  • Could South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint be persuaded to run? The Hill reports today on a move to draft DeMint into the race. The senator doesn't sound like a candidate for president, but he told reporters, "It's humbling and out of respect, my wife and I have talked about it. ...I don't want to imply that I'm changing in mind, but I want to consider what all these folks are doing."
  • Here's some encouraging news: The latest Rasmussen poll of 3,500 likely voters finds President Obama narrowly trailing a generic Republican presidential candidate by a vote of 43% for Obama to 45% for the Republican. Of course, Big Media and the Obama campaign cannot smear a generic Republican candidate, but this poll is further evidence that many voters do not want to give Barack Hussein Obama a second term!

Urban Chaos

I didn't comment on this yesterday because I wanted to gather more information, but I was stunned by many of the headlines I read in the past 24 to 48 hours. On the day of remembrance set aside to commemorate the sacrifice of so many U.S. veterans throughout our history, many American cities were the scenes of mob violence.

Riots broke out on the beaches of Long Island, New York, Carson Beach in South Boston, Massachusetts, Miami, Florida, and Charlotte, North Carolina, among other places. In each case, large urban crowds, drunken mobs and gangs engaged in random violence.

The riots come after months of "flash mobs" trashing businesses and terrorizing shoppers and pedestrians in Washington, D.C., New York and other big cities.

Many of these mobs have been comprised of minority youth and their victims have been women, children and the elderly of all races. Big Media have ignored this disturbing trend, as has the Washington political establishment.

The president of hope and change has turned a blind eye to this urban chaos. I urge President Obama to speak up. He needs to remind urban youth that while other young Americans are risking their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is unacceptable for thugs here to spread terror in our cities.

Summer Of Recovery Part II?

You may recall that last summer President Obama and Vice President Biden hit the road to promote the successes of Obama's stimulus plan. It's a summer of sequels at the box office, and judging from the latest economic news, I'm eagerly awaiting the second installment of the Obama/Biden Summer of Recovery tour.

The ADP employment report is not the most widely accepted measurement of employment in America, but it is one economists watch closely. Many had expected the report to show a gain of roughly 175,000 jobs last month. Instead, the ADP payroll report this morning showed that fewer than 40,000 jobs were created in May. In addition, a key manufacturing index fell to its lowest level since September 2009.

Yesterday, a double-dip in housing prices was confirmed by the latest Case-Shiller index. Housing prices are down 5% compared to last year, and down 30% from the peak of the housing bubble. Nationally, home values are back to 2002 levels. But some areas of the country, such as Florida and Nevada, are dramatically worse off.

This is the economic reality facing many Americans, but the disconnect in Washington could not be greater. While many American families are tightening their belts, thanks to the Obama Administration, Washington bureaucrats are riding in luxury. According to a recently released report, the number of limousines in the federal fleet increased 73% during the first two years of the Obama Administration!

How Will You Celebrate LGBT Month?

President Obama once again declared June to be "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month." How will you celebrate? You'll have some options - the president also declared June to be "National Caribbean-American Heritage Month," "African-American Music Appreciation Month" and "Great Outdoors Month."

It was clear which constituency is most important to the president. He devoted only 354 words to his proclamation declaring June "National Caribbean-American Heritage Month." But Obama lavished the homosexual rights movement with 826 words of praise in his presidential proclamation.

Last week, Gallup released a survey which found that Americans, on average, believe that 25% of the population is gay. This is a media-driven delusion. The best estimate of the homosexual population based on demographic research is somewhere between 2% and 4%. Yet such a small number of radical activists seems to have Obama's undivided attention when it comes to "fundamentally transforming" society's most cherished values.

It's viewers like you and your friends who encourage us to keep finding leaders who provide hope, inspiration and information to our audience at the Daily Caller.

Last week, Andy Puzder, CEO of Hardees and Carlâ's Jr. explained how government policies inhibit the growth of private sector job creation. I know that seems obvious to you, but to Washington, it was a foreign language as this place largely thinks government spending creates the most important economic stimulus.

This week, we highlight a man who came from humble beginnings and who ran for office on the momentum of the tea party movement, fighting Republicans and Democrats alike. Now the Governor of Florida, he is making tough decisions to restore jobs, but he faces a tough road. Hear him talk about:

§  Saying no to the Federal Government's expensive high speed rail offer,

§  His suspicions that Washington is picking winners and losers based on politics to the detriment of his Medicaid recipients, and

Coach Is Right

We need who they hate

Jun 02, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins

 By Ron Reale, staff writer

Sarah Palin took to the American highways in a part bus tour, part motorcycle ride, to remind people of the greatness of America, and Americans, this Memorial Day weekend.

She's bringing her message into Washington DC., New England and New Hampshire, areas already proven to be virulently opposed to her and her brand of Conservative American idealism.

Over the past two years, the left's repeated attacks have shown us who they fear the most. They reserve their most outrageous, disgustingly biased and immoral attacks for this woman and her family. ESPECIALLY her family!

Every time she holds her child, she is a threat to the racist Planned Parenthood's attempts to wipe out the black population in this country

The outright hatred for Sarah Palin, which springs mostly from her not having killed the child they hate and denigrate on a daily basis, is telling. They may claim they hate her because she is ignorant. That lie is no longer ... Continue Reading:We need who they hate

Unfortunately donating to help tornado victims requires watching where your money is going

Jun 01, 2011 02:36 pm | Coach Collins

By Suzanne Eovaldi, staff writer

Before you whip out your credit card, pay pal, and "I helped the tornado victims" angst, take a deep breath, step back, and consider giving to charities that will ensure your hard earned money goes to the desperate victims, and not into some nebulous administrative fund for distant relief organizations.

For instance, the Salvation Army's Commissioner Todd Bassett only draws a yearly salary of $13,000 (plus housing) for managing the $2 billion dollar organization, with 96% of donated dollars going directly to the victims, according to one email report I just received, albeit non attributable.

I have found the Army to be very responsible and sent my donation to Salvation Army, 1130 Hampton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63139-3147.  In the memo line, write "Joplin Tornado Relief."

You, also, can contact Joplin Mayor Mike Woolston's direct source, Mark Morris at  417-624-0820 x 247.  Email is MMorris@joplinmo.org .  Other city contact numbers are 417-625-3543;   417-625-3542; 314-623-9991. ... Weiner can't hide

Weinergate is just exploding, thanks in large part to the fact that Congressman Weiner thought it was a good idea to go on a media tour to talk about Weiner pics that were tweeted from his Twitter account to a young girl who is not his wife. The interviews did not go well, as Weiner backtracked and said yeah, the Weiner pic might be mine. See Weiner self destruct HERE.

Glenn's newest book - 50% off today only!

How strong are you on the founding documents? Could you effectively argue what our Founders argued? If you are less than confident, you need to brush up ASAP. Glenn understands reading old English is painful - that's why he's published The Original Argument - the Federalist Papers written in a way anyone can understand. TODAY ONLY -- BN.com is offering the book for just $8, a 50% discount. Our deepest thanks to them for helping to make such an important part of our history accessible to everyone. Pre-order your copy NOW!

Egyptian cleric: sell these people like groceries

Old evils are once again rearing their ugly head, and people are once again choosing to bury their heads in the sand and ignore it. An Egyptian cleric was recently on tape suggesting that it was 'a real pleasure' to wage jihad, and that people should ease financial pain through the capture and sale of human beings. Glenn talks about the rise of hatred in the world that's being ignored (just like it was ignored in Germany during the 1930's) and why we cannot fail again - get the details at GlennBeck.com.

Catchy new pro-Palestinian tune

A catchy new song was posted on YouTube and since has been spread around in churches -- but really picked up a boost when it was posted by the popular band Coldplay on their Facebook page. The song calls for the West Bank security barrier to be toppled, for Human Rights, and of course 'justice' for all. But does their definition of 'all' include Israel? Glenn has the shocking audio and reaction on radio today.

Hollywood libs admit: yeah, we're a propaganda tool (audio)

Ben Shapiro, friend of the program and author of Primetime Propaganda: The True Hollywood Story of How the Left Took Over Your TV, joined Glenn on radio today. His new book has incredible admissions from influential media figures that admit TV is what you think: propaganda for the left. Using simple left stereotypes against them, he simply wore his Harvard Law cap and told them his name and they assumed he was a liberal and it was safe, friendly territory. Hear the conversation and clips from lib Hollywood execs HERE.

Do you Like Glenn? Of course you do! So head on over to Glenn's Facebook page and click LIKE. Every time a person clicks LIKE on Glenn's page, someone at a Soros think tank gets fired. Or so we hear. When Glenn reaches 2 million (he's closing in!) he'll answer questions directly from his Facebook wall in an exclusive video! Get all the details HERE.

Obama's CNN buddy hates the Constitution, too

Fareed Zakaria is at it again, bashing America again. This time he took to the air and slammed the Constitution as 'antiquated' and said we should look towards other countries for advice on how to make a better system. This is a man, remember, who advises the President of the United States. What does one of Obama's buddies think of America? Check out the audio at The Blaze.
