This is your chance to tell the Governor and the Pennsylvania General Assembly that we want to be able to live and work in our homes and businesses free of unnecessary government interference and taxation. This is achievable if the government does not allow unfunded mandates or government entities to collect union dues, eliminates school property taxes, in addition to refusing to implement Obamacare in PA and implementing broader school choice (click here for AFP-PA's statement on SB1 and School Choice). We must raise our voices together so we can advance these issues that are so crucial to our liberty.

"We have gone to the capitals of our states and to the capitals of our government.  We have talked to all the power brokers.  The only power broker, the only seat of government that can and will solve this problem with or without us is God.  It is time to return inside the walls that surround Jerusalem and stand with people of all faiths, all around the world," Glenn said in his initial announcement.

The Dreyfuss Initiative: An Evening With Richard Dreyfuss

ncc The Dreyfuss Initiative: An Evening With Richard Dreyfuss

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 7-9 PM at The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia

A FREE EXCLUSIVE  ONE-NIGHT ONLY EVENT FOR LISTENERS OF THE NEW TALK RADIO 1210, WPHT

Academy Award winning actor Richard Dreyfuss is best known for starring in film, television, and theater roles since the late 1960s, including the films American Graffiti, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Goodbye Girl, Stakeout, Always, What About Bob? and Mr. Holland's Opus.  He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1977 for The Goodbye Girl, and was nominated in 1995 for Mr. Holland's Opus.

Now,  Richard Dreyfuss is taking on a new role. The Oscar-winning actor is Founder and President of The Dreyfuss Initiative, which calls for a cross-curricular study of civics in our public schools that incorporates...

- HISTORY      - LOGIC      - REASON      - CRITICAL THINKING

The Dreyfuss Initiative, a nonprofitorganization committed to revitalizing America's civic culture.   Richard also serves on the American Bar Association's Education Committee, the Board of the National Constitution Center, and was Senior Research Advisory Member of St. Antony's College, Oxford University.

THIS WILL BE AN ENTERTAINING EVENING FOR PARENTS, FOR STUDENTS, FOR EVERYONE!

Richard will share why he believes that too many of us don't realize the power we hold in a democracy. The solution, he says, is to change the way students learn about civics, the study of the rights and duties of citizenship.  Learn why we need a national standard that calls for teaching reason, logic and critical thinking skills before teaching government as a way of providing perspective and context in civics classes.

ARE AMERICAN STUDENTS PREPARED TO INHERIT THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR GREAT NATION?

Richard Dreyfuss joins 1210s Dom Giordano for this unique 2-hour LIVE event and will lay out the critically important issues, and discuss why he believes we must be preparing our nation's next generation to be effective and engaged citizens.

The event is free.  Seating is limited.  You must register to attend.

Last Monday some of us went to Baltimore to attend Brigitte Gabriel's conference. There were approximately 500 to 600 people.  The conference started with an overview of the story of ACT for America and how it's organization and effort are affecting so much of the whole country. How members of a local chapters help influence the US Congress.  The ACT presentation also included several little videos about big chapters and how they worked, and an extensive report about all legislative victories that without ACT wouldn't have taken place.

People were in silent, expectant, and taking notes.

After the video showing the ACT machine in full operation, Brigitte spoke of Lebanon, an example of prosperity and generosity, one of the most advanced civilizations, the Paris combined with the Swiss Banking Center of the Middle East with its mythological Mediterranean beaches and woods of cedars mentioned in the Bible, that were destroyed by tanks, bombs, and fedayines, attacks every night until it was left to smoking shambles and destruction.

Hospitality and the pride of accepting all races religions and cultures returned blood and death instead.

Soon it became clear that this was not going to be just a common conference as sparks started to illuminate the spirits. The public started to applaud frantically standing thrilled with admiration and enthusiasm.

Brigitte had the ability to make us all feel her vibration and her spiritual strength as if it was our own.  The only thing that crossed my mind was to thank God to have sent such a talented communicator.  I intend to bring Brigitte to the Union League in Philadelphia.

So, if you don't want to start seeing burkas in our neighborhoods, if you don't want no-go zone's around us, if you don't want to be surrounded by terrorist training camps, if you don't want to have honor killings and shariah law in our midst, please RSVP and let me know that you will support bringing Brigette to our area.

So please let me know your thoughts and wishes. Will you help? Will you fight with us?

RSVP:  YES?

ACT of Baltimore made it for real!

RedState Morning Briefing

For June 2, 2011

1. If the Republican Presidential Candidates Won't Lead on This, What Will They Lead On?

It would be unfair to say that the Republican Presidential candidates have not weighed in on the debt ceiling. Most, if not all, have in passing mentioned the issue.

But the time for mentioning the issue in passing is over. The Dow Industrials have fallen. The Fed wants to print more money. Obama is gutting NASA's space mission to socialize healthcare and fund global warming nonsense. And Republicans on Capitol Hill are hinting loudly that they will raise the debt ceiling, but they want a big show of something first.

Obama is prepared to wait them out and blame them. No one seems to have their back. And the congressional Republicans will, as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, go wobbly. They just will. It is what they do.

So it is time for the Republican Presidential candidates to start forcefully and constantly demanding bold change in exchange for the debt ceiling increase.

2. How Many Male Semi-Pornographic Pictures Does Anthony Weiner Have on His Blackberry?

Anthony Weiner is now offering up this to CNN.

"'It certainly doesn't look familiar to me, but I don't want to say with certitude to you something that I don't know to be the certain truth,' Weiner told CNN in an interview."

If Anthony Weiner cannot "say with certitude" that it was a picture of him on twitter, how many other men's lower waists with erect appendages does Anthony Weiner have on his blackberry? After the last 48 hours, it is a bridge too far to say the picture did not come from Anthony Weiner.

He says he won't talk further about the case to protect his wife. They've only been married about a year.

It is increasingly clear that Anthony Weiner is a pervert and if he is protecting his wife, it is to protect her from the truth that she is married to a cad.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. Case Closed? Leftblog Claims Definitive Proof Weiner Was Framed.

Case closed? Not so much. There is a post up at a the blog Cannonfire today titled: CASE CLOSED! CONGRESSMAN WEINER WAS FRAMED! Tweets of this article are blowing up on the #p2 hashtag on Twitter, and many blogs in the leftosphere are beginning to cite it, including Little Green Footballs and DailyKos diaries section.

The post claims to definitively prove that Rep. Weiner could not have sent the now infamous underwear photo that is causing him so much trouble this week.

"It had to have been sent by someone else."

Had. To.

4. Reform on the Ropes in Louisiana

Although he has not kept a national profile as high as that of some other Republican governors like Chris Christie or Scott Walker, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has been quietly and competently reforming state government in Louisiana since his election. Jindal has successfully reduced bottom-line spending in Louisiana by 26% since he took office, an impressive accomplishment in its own right. However, Governor Jindal recognizes that merely cutting spending is not enough; in order to make a lasting change on the size of Government's footprint, spending cuts must be accompanied by reforms that change both the manner and extent to which the government provides services. Many of these reforms, which have been carefully planned out and in the works for years, are coming to a head right now during the current Louisiana legislative session. Given that Republicans in Louisiana have finally taken control of both chambers of Louisiana's legislature, one would hope that Jindal's reforms - which read like a lengthy wish list for long-time conservative activists - stand a good chance of passing.

However, due to some reticent Republicans in the Louisiana House, substantially all of Jindal's reform agenda is now in danger. Sadly, it appears that Republicans may be preparing to shoot themselves in the foot in Louisiana and blow yet another golden opportunity to reform the way government works, choosing short-sighted temporary cuts over meaningful, long-term reform.

5. The Sprint/George Soros argument on AT&T/T-Mobile makes no sense

Regular readers of my Tech at Night series have seen me make the case for the proposed merger of AT&T and T-Mobile USA by pointing out how it would improve competition because the two companies combined could compete better with 4G networks like Verizon and the combined Sprint/Clearwire.

But there's a more basic reason than that to oppose any government meddling in the deal, as proposed by Sprint Nextel itself, as well as George Soros/OSI-funded front groups like Public Knowledge or Free Press. Both a Constitutional and a common sense approach would be not to intervene unless we have good reason. And the reason for intervention given by the radical left, as well as by competitors like Sprint, just doesn't make sense.

Put simply, the AT&T/T-Mobile deal cannot simultaneously hurt Sprint and give AT&T price setting power, especially not when the Sprint/Nextel deal had the opposite effect on prices.

6. Mike Haridopolos Needs To Put Whatever He Uses On His Hair Into His Spine

This is embarrasing.

Yesterday morning, Haridopolos got thrown off a Florida radio show for going wobbly on the Paul Ryan Medicare plan, including not wanting to say yes or no on whether he supports it.

Then, his campaign issued a press release, which you can read below the fold. The key nugget of which is this line, "I absolutely support the goals of the Ryan Plan to cut federal government deficit spending and applaud Rep. Ryan's bold leadership in putting forth an intelligent and serious plan to tackle the largest issue confronting our nation." That line is subsequently repeated in the 222 words.

In between the repetition is this: "While I support almost every provision of the Ryan Plan, I believe that it must be amended to provided greater protections for Seniors."

After all that, Haridopolos is now a solid "no" on the Ryan plan, claiming he'd vote against it.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

7. This Week's Horse Race

It's been a few weeks since I've done one of these. A lot has happened since then.

Let's get started and, again, we'll go in alphabetical order.

Just note that I'm putting Sarah Palin and Rick Perry outside the list, since they are just speculation right now and I want to deal with them first, above the fold.

  • Hezbollah - created by Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards in 1982 to export the Islamic revolution to the Arab world - receives financial, ideological and armed support from Iran and from the Islamic republic's Alawite allies in Syria, who share Tehran's interest in pressuring Israel.
  • The organization was particularly useful in the days of the civil war when Lebanon was overrun with warring militias and crawling with U.S., Israeli and French security forces along with Palestinian Liberation Organization fighters
  • Though Iran highly values Hezbollah's physical threat to Israel Tehran's big question as it charges forward with its nuclear campaign is whether the Israeli government will consider Hezbollah a serious factor when it comes time for Israel to decide between rocket attacks from Lebanon and the larger threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.

Where Obama is leading Israel

By CAROLINE B. GLICK , JPOST

Our World: Since his policy speech, president has taken a series of steps that only reinforce sense that he is most hostile US leader Jewish state has ever faced.

In the aftermath of US President Barack Obama's May 19 speech on the Middle East, his supporters argued that the policy toward Israel and the Palestinians that Obama outlined in that speech was not anti-Israel. As they presented it, Obama's assertion that peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians must be based on the 1967 lines with agreed swaps does not mark a substantive departure from the positions adopted by his predecessors in the Oval Office.

But this claim is exposed as a lie by previous administration statements. On November 25, 2009, in response to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's acceptance of Obama's demand for a 10-month moratorium on Jewish property rights in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, the State Department issued the following statement:

Muslims Stone 19 Year Old Ukrainian Girl to Death

Should Ukraine Regulate the Practice of Islam?
by Bill Levinson

Beauty queen Katya Koren stoned to death by Muslims for being in pageant

A would-be teen beauty queen was stoned to death after her participation in a Ukranian pageant reportedly infuriated local Muslim youths.

Katya Koren, 19, was targeted by three fellow teens who said her seventh-place finish in the beauty contest was a violation of Muslim laws, according to British newspaper reports.

This is a strong argument for the regulation of the practice of Islam in Ukraine or elsewhere. Freedom of religion does not mean freedom to commit murder under color of religion. Even in the United States, a strong argument could be made that advocacy of replacement of the Constitution by Sharia law, violence, misogyny, and so on are no longer a religion but purely secular activities that can be banned or regulated, and certainly not deserving of 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.

We are coming to the point where we believe that the...

Syria to Become Iranian Vassal or Saudi Ally

By Ted Belman

While Robert Fisk writes that Israel prefers the devil it knows in Syria,
Robert Rabil and Walid Phares writing in
American Thinker, are silent on the matter. It seems to me that Israel should be backing the rebels in a de facto alliance with Saudi Arabia to thwart Iran.

But, most ominously for the protest movement in the time being is the emergence of Damascus as the battle grounds for Iran to re-assert its regional authority and policy. Tehran can ill afford the loss of the Syrian regime as a regional ally and a nodal point for its projection of power and deterrence strategy against Israel. Hezb'allah, Iran's proxy militia, can also ill afford a regime change that may put the Islamist party far out on a limb by severing the overland weapons supply from Tehran and denying the party Syria's strategic depth. In his recent speech, Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Hezb'allah, asserted that "the downfall of the Asad regime is an...

Who cares in the Middle East what Obama says?

Yes I know Fisk is extremely anti-Israel and distorts everything about Israel. But he is a student of the ME and in this article he seems to know a few things. He thiks the Arabs are "demonstrating and fighting and dying for freedoms" and should be supported. He faults Obama for not doing so. True to form, he calls settlements, "internationally illegal Jewish colonies built on land stolen from Arabs in one of the biggest property heists in the history of "Palestine"" and faults Obama for accepting demographic changes. Ted Belman

By Robert Fisk, The Independent

President Obama has shown himself to be weak in his dealings with the Middle East, says Robert Fisk, and the Arab world is turning its back with contempt. Its future will be shaped without American influence

This month, in the Middle East, has seen the unmaking of the President of the United States. More than that, it has witnessed the lowest prestige of America in the region since Roosevelt met...

BBC and Guardian's Agenda of Denying Jewish Rights to All of Jerusalem

Laura: The despicable scoundrels of the BBC and Guardian once again are all too eager to give voice to the lies and historical revisionism as told by the fakestinians. It is now no longer enough to erase Jewish history and deny the Jewish people their right to the eastern part of Jerusalem, but now the denial of Jewish rights to the entirety of Jerusalem is being advanced. The British media along with most of the rest of the left-wing western media has made its choice to back those who wish to obliterate the Jewish homeland and perpetrate another Jewish genocide.

Only yesterday I blogged the BBC's video report on the Arab village of Lifta, located at the western entrance to Jerusalem and abandoned since 1948. Within 48 hours of the BBC's report, the Guardian has also published its own story and video.

Stop Radical Islam

A women's rights activist, Manal al-Sharif, spent the past week in jail, until being freed Monday, for posting a video on YouTube of herself driving in Saudi Arabia. The video was part of an online campaign encouraging Saudi women to take to the diver's seat in defiance of a restriction on female drivers in the country.

The edict banning women from driving is just one of numerous constraints placed on women in Saudi Arabia and in the Muslim world at large.

For the past several months, we have watched citizens of the Arab World struggle for fundamental rights and freedoms in revolutions that have brought about immense change. But what about change for Muslim women? When will rights and freedoms be granted to them as well?

Islam's Apartheid

By Amil Imani

"Islamic countries, such as Egypt, Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia are signatories to the declaration condemning the barbaric practices of apartheid. Yet, these same countries...are the most blatant violators of the declaration."

The dictionary defines apartheid as: An official policy of racial segregation promulgated in the Republic of South Africa with a view to promoting and maintaining white ascendancy.

In 1973, the General Assembly of the United Nations opened for signature and ratification the International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid (ICSPCA). It defined the crime of apartheid as:

"Inhuman acts committed for the purpose of establishing and maintaining domination by one racial [religious] group of persons over any other racial [religious] group of persons and systematically oppressing them."

Saudi Arabia's Coming Revolution

By IPT News

"Injustices include repression of women's rights and freedom and poor treatment of Shiites and immigrants"

A Saudi-born, liberal intellectual claims that while the Saudi regime has bought off and suppressed current dissatisfaction, revolution still is coming. In excerpts of an article translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Mansour al-Hadj argues that disenfranchisement of weak sectors of the society will lead to an inevitable backlash.

Shiites, women, children of immigrants, political prisoners, and liberals are all volatile elements in Saudi society, al-Hadj argues in his article at the liberal Arabic-language website Aafaq.org.

The two were admitted to the country as refugees in 2009 and have been living most recently in Bowling Green, Ky., hoping to become citizens and obtain U.S. passports, though there's no allegation that they plotted any terrorist attacks in the United States.

Sarah Palin vs. the media

Media doesn't like Palin evading them

Mama Grizzly is playing a "cat-and-mouse game" with the press, ducking them at every turn and leaving reporters "confused and scrambling." Is she damaging her 2012 hopes?

Unconventional. Unorthodox. A rule-breaker. Sarah Palin is once again proving she's all those things with her "One Nation" bus tour of historic sites along the East Coast. The unusual trip has "left reporters confused and scrambling," says Chris Cillizza in The Washington Post. "Which is, of course, exactly how Palin likes it." She even "pulled a clever bait and switch on reporters in Gettyburg" Tuesday, sneaking out of her hotel early while leaving her bus in the parking lot to give reporters chasing her the impression she was still inside. The possible GOP presidential candidate told Fox News' Greta van Susteren that she wants the mainstream media to "have to do a little bit of work," and "that would include not necessarily telling them beforehand where every stop's going to be." Does Palin's "cat-and-mouse game" help her political ambitions, or hurt them?

The Obama administration hopes Chrysler Group LLC will qualify for government loans to help make more fuel-efficient vehicles, but it still has hurdles to clear with banks and investors.

He then goes on to confirm that the dealerships purchasing Chevy Volts and reselling them as used vehicles are entitled to the $7,500 tax credit. Clearly, it is GM that is confused, considering that this was the main point of my report.

GM's North America profit disappoints investors amid surging U.S. sales

GM sucks

General Motors Co. (GM)'s first-quarter North American profit disappointed investors as higher spending on sales incentives, marketing and engineering costs reduced the benefit of soaring revenue.

Excluding some items, profit was 95 cents a share, beating the 91-cent average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Net income more than tripled to $3.37 billion, or $1.77 a share, from $1.07 billion, or 55 cents, a year earlier, Detroit-based GM said yesterday in a statement.

The Huffington Post Gets Punk'd
By Ben Johnson, The White House Watch

Despite a newfound reputation as a source of unbiased news, an influx of hundreds of millions of dollars, and the new ownership of a massive media conglomerate, The Huffington Post is apparently incapable of fact-checking the articles that appear on its website. An entry posted late this morning on the website attributes an apparently erroneous quotation to Sen. John McCain.

The line comes in a Huffington Post article written by legal scholar Bruce Fein entitled, "McCain Dethrones the Rule of Law."

This author reported last month that Fein, who wrote the first article of impeachment against Bill Clinton, has drafted articles of impeachment against Barack Obama over the president's unwise, unauthorized, and unconstitutional military action against Libya. This author is fully supportive of Fein's goals and actions on this matter.

Unfortunately, it appears an online prank got past him - and The Huffington Post....

The Leadership Lie
By Michael Oberndorf, FloydReports.com

The liars in the Ministry of Propaganda, aka, the "mainstream" media, have long been aware that if you tell a lie often enough, people will come to believe it. Concomitantly, a working premise for them is that a lie is as good as the truth, if you can get people to believe it.

A word these congenital liars constantly use that should immediately raise huge red flags in voters' minds, when applied to politicians, is "leader."

For years, the leftist propagandists have pushed the false notion that those elected to government are our leaders, instead of the public servants the Constitution intended....

Federal Employees Say Inept Obama Officials Politicize Their Agencies
By Ben Johnson, The White House Watch

Barack Obama's political appointees are inept, incapable, and needlessly politicize the basic functions of whole segments of the federal government. That is not the assessment of firebrand conservatives but the result of a recent survey of high-placed career federal employees.

The survey, conducted by the Government Business Council, polled 148 Senior Executive Service members. These federal managers ranked Obama's political appointees at only 2.0, down from the 2.3 rating enjoyed by the Clinton and Bush administrations. At least 10 percent more managers gave Obama's appointees a D or F than failed Bush or Clinton's teams. National Journal reports 20 percent gave such low marks to Clinton/Bush, as opposed to "more than 30 percent" for Obama.

More damning than the dry statistical data are the descriptions of federal employees of Obama's team. According to one manager the political appointees are far more involved in day-to-day affairs, but "the effectiveness, skill and knowledge has dramatically decreased" since January 2009. Some said Obama's appointees attempt to "break organizations." One said the administration's overseers....

Here Comes Inflation, Round Three (with Video)
By Jonathon M. Seidl, The Blaze

QE1, QE2, and now, QE3? No, those aren't British monarchs. Rather, they're the numbers and letters that have become synonymous with the Federal Reserves practice of printing money and flooding the market with cash through the use of the bond market. By buying up bonds, the Fed has to "print money" to cover the sale. And when more money hits the market, so too does inflation.

Call Your Representatives Today and Tell them to Co-Sponsor H.R. 1932 to Keep Criminal Aliens Off Our Streets!

Everyday Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is forced to release dangerous criminal aliens onto American streets because either the alien refuses to cooperate with deportation proceedings or because their country of origin refuses to take them back. Under current law, ICE must release these criminals six months after a 90-day removal period has expired if a court determines that removal of the alien is not reasonably foreseeable. This month, however, Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) of the House Judiciary Committee introduced a bill that would stop this injustice and keep criminal aliens behind bars and out of your neighborhood.

Rep. Smith's bill, H.R. 1932, the "Keep Our Communities Safe Act," grants the Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) the authority to detain dangerous aliens who have been ordered deported, but cannot be removed. More specifically, the Act would allow the DHS Secretary to renew the detention period of certain criminal aliens every six months to keep Americans safe from lawbreakers who are set free in their communities.

The House Judiciary Committee already held a hearing on the bill and plans to mark-up it up tomorrow. (See FAIR Legislative Update, May 31, 2011) At the hearing, witnesses, such as the Fort Myers, Florida Chief of Police Douglas Baker, praised Chairman Smith's efforts. (Id.) "I applaud House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith for ... the steps he is taking to correct this injustice ... We have a responsibility to our citizens, legal residents, visitors, and law enforcement personnel to ensure that these dangerous criminal aliens are not allowed to reenter into communities within the United States of America." (Id.)

According to recent data provided by ICE, nearly 4,000 criminal aliens have been released each year since 2008. And, according to a 2007 audit conducted by the Inspector General of the U.S. Justice Department, 73 out of 100 criminal aliens had an average of six arrests after being released! Call your Representatives today and tell them to become a co-sponsor of H.R. 1932 and to stop releasing criminal aliens back onto the streets! You can contact your Representatives here.

Workplace Fairness Institute

Dear WFI Members,

Welcome to the WFI Monthly Update! Each month, we'll highlight important developments surrounding workplace issues and show how your efforts make a difference as Big Labor continues its assault on American businesses.

As we shine a spotlight on the Big Labor Bailouts going on in Washington, here are some of the ways you've made an impact on key workplace developments:

President Obama names Boeing Board Member to Cabinet

Weeks after the National Labor Relations Board issued a complaint against Boeing for building a facility in South Carolina, President Obama has decided to name a member of the company's board as a nominee to his cabinet. This comes on the heels of disclosures showing Bill Daley, the White House chief of staff was also working with Boeing when the company decided to set up shop in a right-to-work state in order to meet demand for their 787 Dreamliner aircraft. President Obama has a choice to make, either stop hiring individuals from a company his regulatory agency believes violated Federal labor law or tell Lafe Solomon to cease action against Boeing. Either way, President Obama must choose one as he can't have it both ways.

The NLRB Declares War on Job Creators: The Boeing Decision

In one of the more blatant displays of its pro-union agenda, the NLRB filed a complaint over Boeing's plans to open a plant in South Carolina, a Right-to-Work state, instead of expanding its operations in its unionized facility in Washington. This attempt to undermine South Carolina's Right-to-Work law represents a threat to every Right-to-Work state in the nation. WFI members sent an onslaught of letters to their legislators expressing their vehement disapproval of the NLRB using taxpayers' money to stand in the way of job creation and economic growth.

Introduction of Legislation to Preserve Right-to-Work Laws

Due in large part to the immense public outcry of WFI members against the Boeing Decision, Senators Alexander, Graham, and DeMint introduced S. 964, the Job Protection Act, which would protect workers and businesses in Right-to-Work states. Read more.

State-Level EFCA Clears the California General Assembly

This job-killing legislation has already been debated in Congress and Big Labor lost. Now, legislation that would effectively strip California farm workers of their right to vote by secret ballot in workplace elections has cleared the California General Assembly and is headed to the desk of Governor Jerry Brown. Big Labor won't give up-and neither will we. Read more on California's move to force unionization on workers.

Remember, fairness and balance in the workplace is something we have to work together to preserve.

florida gop governor signs bill, requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test.

Frothing at the mouth liberals in 3..2..1..

TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) - Expect challenges to a bill signed by Governor Rick Scott which will require welfare applicants to undergo drug testing.

The bill also requires that those who apply for welfare must pay for the drug testing out of their own pockets. However, the cost would be reimbursed if the person passes the drug test.

Republicans said the measure was needed because if taxpayers are screened at their place of employment, so should welfare recipients. The drug testing bill was a priority for Scott.

"While there are certainly legitimate needs for public assistance, it is unfair for Florida taxpayers to subsidize drug addiction," Governor Scott said. "This new law will encourage personal accountability and will help to prevent the misuse of tax dollars."

YouCut Winner -- UNFPA

Friends,

One of the options for the most recent YouCut online vote was to defund UNFPA, and thanks to your help in spreading the word, it won!  Rep. Ellmers will be introducing legislation soon, which I'll send to you once it's introduced.  You can track the status of the legislation here as it goes through the House process.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: SAVES $400 MILLION
In the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan withheld all U.S. contributions to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) after determining that UNFPA participated in the support and co-management of China's population control program. Under the Bush administration, the U.S. withheld funds for the UNFPA from America's annual contributions to the United Nations due to UNFPA's complicity in China's one-child policy enforced through coercive abortion and involuntary sterilization, but the Obama administration and the 111th Congress resumed contributions to UNFPA. HR 1 sought to terminate UNFPA funding, which stood at $55 million in FY 2010. UNFPA funding was cut by $15 million, to $40 million in the final agreement over FY 2011 spending. The President's 2012 Budget requests $47 million for the program.

Rep. Ellmers introduced the bill to defund UNFPA yesterday, HR 2059.

Please contact your Representative and voice your support for the defunding of this: Congressional Switchboard - (202)- 224 - 3121

Anti-War Group Code Pink Counts Ron Paul in Their Camp on Israel Aid Opposition

Politics makes for strange bedfellows. Add Code Pink and Republican Rep. Ron Paul to that list.

The vehemently anti-war group is organizing a slew of events this weekend in opposition to the United States' Israel policy, to coincide with the annual conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. "The Ron Paul people are closer and closer to our talking points with each election," Code Pink activist Liz Hourican told FoxNews.com.

Code Pink crashes tea party, looking for converts

At this afternoon's Tea Party Express rally, on the left of the stage, a small woman in a bright pink shirt milled around conducting friendly interviews. The interviewer was Medea Benjamin of Code Pink, a left-wing activist who excels at showing up at conservative events, congressional hearings and military recruiting stations, and getting herself arrested. She listened to tea party activists, patiently marking down their answers to questions like, "Israel, a wealthy country, gets $3 billion a year from Uncle Sam with no strings attached and no accountability. The second largest recipient is the autocratic government of Egypt. Should Congress cut the foreign aid budget by cutting funds to Israel and Egypt?"

"I find more hawks here than Ron Paul supporters," Benjamin told me, right after an interview with a tea party activist (who didn't want to give her name) who blamed "Walter Cronkite and Bob McNamara" for America's defeat in Vietnam. "I think it's fascinating! There's a lot of myths about 'the other,' on both sides. Like, somebody came up to me and said 'You're a Castro lover!' I said, you don't know, I was actually put in jail and deported from Cuba. Let's talk, let's inform each other."

DEMOCRAT MARSEGLIA SNARRED
IN PAY-TO-PLAY INSURANCE SCHEME

By Rogelio Jose de la Piedra
The Bugle News Correspondent

Bucks County Commissioner Diane Marseglia pushed and voted to move the lucrative Middletown Township Insurance from a Municipal Insurance Trust to a politically connected privately owned Insurance Broker even though it cost taxpayers $43,500 more per year for less Insurance coverage and then got $15,000 in campaign contributions from the new broker.

Marseglia rushed through a proposal to drop Insurance by the Delaware Valley Insurance trust and replace it with the more expensive, North American Insurance Management Corporation owned by Marsglia cronies. Marsegliai told the newspaper at the time that the new broker would "save $200,000" which is false. "It won't cost us anything if they dont save us money" she said. The new broker has not saved the Township money, in fact it's coverage costs $43,500 more.

Marseglia jammed it throught the Town Board by a 3-2 vote without prior notice it would be on the agenda. " What's the rush ? This should be an agenda item at another meeting. Why are they trying to jam this through?" asked Town Board memeber John J. Kelly III. ( Intelligencer 08/14/2006)

Marseglia quickly got two checks for $7500 apiece from Insurance Brokers Douglas Schroer and John McManus in return, a felony under Pennsylvania law. Both could be charged with Marseglia for bribery in the kick-back scheme.

Visit Your Senators' District Offices This Week!

Last week Senate Democrats rejected four budget proposals, three introduced by the Republicans, and one sponsored by President Obama which was defeated by a shocking 0-97 vote. Why? Because Democrats would rather not vote for a budget and spend away America's future then stand for anything at all. In fact, it's now been over 760 days since the Democrats passed any budget.

Democrats plan to do nothing, blame the Tea Party and somehow win the next election to keep Obama in power. Their plan:

  • Do nothing to rein in our national debt.
  • Do nothing to stop the EPA from killing American jobs.
  • Do nothing to save our Medicare system from bankruptcy.

But now is our chance. The Senate is home this week on recess and I need you to go to your Senators' district offices and demand they do something! Use our exclusive "Recess Action Center" and organize office visits now on our new online activism tool, FreedomConnector.

There are already over 100,000 grassroots activists organizing on FreedomConnector to take action. Visit our "Recess Action Center" now to find important information about current issues before Congress and begin organizing district office visits this week. Click here now to get started!

P lease use this recess week to visit your Senator's district office and make your voice heard. Remember, government goes to those that show up. If thousands of freedom-loving activists like you show up this week in district Senate offices across America, we can put the pressure on our Senators necessary to rein in our national debt, stop the EPA and save our broken Medicare system.

Please, take action now.

 The Patriot Post

The Foundation

"Our conflict is not likely to cease so soon as every good man would wish. The measure of iniquity is not yet filled; and unless we can return a little more to first principles, and act a little more upon patriotic ground, I do not know when it will." --George Washington

Editorial Exegesis

"During the summer of 2009, in the early stages of the health care debate, a frustrated Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., lamented that he wasn't getting any cooperation from Republicans. ... This 'Party of No' rhetoric was parroted by nearly every liberal writer. It is less common today, now that the tables have turned. The new Republican House majority has passed a serious proposal to reform the broken entitlement system and avert national insolvency. Not only has Reid refused to work with the GOP on a budget, but he said it would be 'foolish' for Democrats to release one of their own. And last Wednesday, Senate Democrats gave new meaning to the label the 'Party of No' when they held a series of four budget votes. Not a single Democrat voted for any budget proposal, including Obama's own plan, which was rejected by a unanimous 97-to-0 vote. Democrats have settled on a political strategy of isolating and attacking the Ryan plan instead of offering constructive solutions that could leave them open to attack. If history is any guide, this is a winning election strategy. But it is not necessarily responsible governance. The nation faces an unprecedented debt crisis that makes the problems in the health care system pale in comparison. ... As tempting as it is for Republicans to blast Democrats' inaction, they would do much better to go on offense and attack the bad ideas Democrats have already embraced." --The Washington Examiner

"Senate Democrats haven't passed their own budget plan in more than two years, despite having strong control of that body. Meanwhile, the nation is teetering on bankruptcy. I don't make that statement lightly. Our national debt is $14.3 trillion, and our federal deficit is $1.65 trillion. ... Republicans will make a mistake if they continue to be in counterattack mode, waiting for the latest Democratic broadside to respond. They should be on the airwaves every morning and every night presenting the nightmarish facts and their proposal to end the nightmare and exposing the Democrats for the reckless rogues they are. Time's running out." --columnist David Limbaugh

"Obama and his policymakers told the country that we would recover from the deep recession by vastly increasing government spending and borrowing. ... Employers aren't creating any more new jobs than they were during the darkest days of the recession; unemployment has dropped slowly because they just aren't laying off as many employees as they did then. In the meantime many potential job seekers have left the labor market. If they re-enter and look for jobs, the unemployment rate will stay steady or ebb only slowly. We tend to hire presidents who we think can foresee the future effect of their policies. No one does so perfectly. But if the best sympathetic observers can say about the results is that they are 'unexpected,' voters may decide someone else can do better." --political analyst Michael Barone

"The U.S. intervention in Libya's civil war ... is now taking a toll on the rule of law. In a bipartisan cascade of hypocrisies, a liberal president, with the collaborative silence of most congressional conservatives, is traducing the War Powers Resolution. Enacted in 1973 over President Nixon's veto, the WPR may or may not be wise. It is, however, unquestionably a law, and Barack Obama certainly is violating it. ... 'No president,' says Sen. John McCain, 'has ever recognized the constitutionality of the War Powers Act, and neither do I. So I don't feel bound by any deadline.' Oh? No law is actually a law if presidents and senators do not 'recognize' it? Now, there is an interesting alternative to judicial review, and an indicator of how executive aggrandizement and legislative dereliction of duty degrade the rule of law." --columnist George Will

"Congressman Barney Frank, former Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, helped his then-lover Herb Moses land a nice, lucrative 'government job' working at Fannie Mae back in the 1990's. Even though it happened several years ago, this 'news' raises some very legitimate questions about a 'conflict of interest,' because in his position as an elected member of Congress, Mr. Frank had direct governmental oversight of Fannie Mae. ... This type of 'political favoritism' has become flagrant, and is out in the open in many parts of the country. What is not so out in the open is the way taxpayer dollars get spent by government agencies and bureaucracies 'behind the scenes.'" --columnist Austin Hill

The Demo-gogues

On the legality of illegal immigration: "I think the president was clearly articulating that his position -- the Democrats' position -- is that we need comprehensive immigration reform. We have 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country that are part of the backbone of our economy. And that is not only a reality but a necessity. And that it would be harmful if -- the Republican solution that I've seen in the last three years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries, and that in fact it should be a crime and we should arrest them all." --Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), who is also DNC chairwoman

Bad solution: "All I know is, whenever you have any type of a problem and the problem is one that you spend more than you are actually bringing in then you have to bring in more and spend less. It just makes so much sense ... it's all we have to do." --Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) on raising taxes

Opposing the very debt increase they wanted: "Well, when [Democrats] were in charge, when the president of the United States wouldn't let you do some of the things you wanted to do, Bill Clinton was there to veto things, we had a surplus for four years in a row and we didn't increase the debt [limit] once. Under George [W.] Bush we increased it seven times. I yield back the balance of my time and urge a no vote on this irresponsible piece of legislation that should have been handled in bipartisan way." --House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD)

Race bait: "You know, I'm 70 years old. And I can tell you; people don't like to deal with it, but the fact of the matter is, the president's problems are in large measure because of the color of his skin." --Assistant Minority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC), who later insisted that his comments were about racism

Dezinformatsia

The BIG Delusional Lie: "I'd say the relationship is pretty good, very -- better than it was with Bush because the military hated the fact that he wasn't really doing the job in Iraq." --Time Magazine's Joe Klein on the military's supposed love for Obama

Always with the tax hikes: "What about raising taxes? ... At some point, do you have to look at raising taxes, and do people have to pay more for what's needed in this country?" --NBC's Erica Hill to GOP presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty

More tax hikes: "Paul Ryan has shown considerable guts, but [Democrat Congressman Chris Van Hollen is] correct that nobody on the Republican side is showing any courage on the tax front. And unless taxes are part of the mix, every grown-up knows it can't reach a solution." --NBC's Andrea Mitchell

Schadenfreude: "My favorite detail though of the whole Gingrich-Paul Ryan kerfluffle was not even two days had gone by before a White House aide sat up and said, 'Well this just proves that destroying Medicare is the new litmus test for the Republican Party primary.' So they see an opportunity here to just drive that whole debate further and further to the right toward the Tea Party, away from the center, and that's why they were happy about what happened." --Time Washington Bureau Chief Michael Duffy

The Debt Is Not a Game, Mr. President

Well, President Obama asked for it. And last night he got it in grand fashion-a "clean vote" on raising the nation's debt limit, free of any of the desperately needed spending cuts that Americans are demanding, conservatives support, but liberals abhor. And by a 318-97 margin, the House of Representatives shot down the President's effort to authorize $2.4 trillion in additional borrowing by the federal government without condition.

Tenth Amendment CenterHey All,

The debate continues with regard to solutions challenging ObamaCare, including the battleground at the State Level.   As per prior emails, there are bills being promoted in Harrisburg.

http://pennsylvania.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2011/05/pa-tenth-amendment-legislation-status-may-14/

In addition, there are efforts to promote the Health Care Compact (HCC) concept.  Attached is an analysis of the HCC from a 10th Amendment perspective.

http://pennsylvania.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2011/05/state-remedies-for-addressing-obamacare/

The marketplace of ideas is at work.  If you concur with the analysis above, send letters to Gov. Corbett, Lt. Gov. Cawley, your Senator and Representative, and the sponsors of the four health care legislation in the Capitol ( Rep. Matt Baker, Senator D. White, Senator Scarnati, Senator Folmer, Senator Leach).

Addresses can be found at the attached link. http://www.legis.state.pa.us/

Attached is a letter we have sent already on the topic.   Now is the time to be heard on Consitutional, limited government solutions.  Do pass on to your groups.

If any questions, don't hesitate to email or call.

Governor Corbett,

It was a pleasure meeting with Todd Shamash in March about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and 10th Amendment Solutions for Pennsylvania.  Since those discussions, other solutions have come forward on how address the Federal Government's unconstitutional over-reach into Health Care with the PPACA or ObamaCare.  One such idea is the Interstate Health Care Compact.

Please read the attached article from the Pennsylvania Tenth Amendment Center that assesses the Compact Concept.  We trust that you will consider this position, and also existing 10th Amendment Solutions, including bills that are currently in the Pennsylvania Legislature.  This legislation is tracked and can be found on our website:

We look forward to additional dialogue around ObamaCare and how the 10th Amendment applies to today's issues in Pennsylvania.

Sincerely,

State Remedies for Addressing ObamaCare

There are several solutions in the marketplace of ideas on how to address the Federal Government's unconstitutional over-reach into Health Care with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (PPACA) or ObamaCare.  One such idea is the Health Care Compact .  Under the proposal, any groups of States would seek Congressional Consent to regulate Health Care in their States.  If approved by Congress, member states would have the right to Federal monies up to a preset amount listed in the table of Member State Base Funding Levels.  States would then use those Federal monies to implement health care in accordance with Federal laws and any State laws approved under the Compact.

The Health Care Compact is a well-intended effort to return health care decisions to the States.   However, is it the most effective method in keeping with the principles of limited government and Federalism?  Consider the following.

Congressional Consent

Why implement a structure that requires Consent of Congress and the Federal Government in this instance?  Aren't these the very entities that gave us ObamaCare and are the root of the larger problem in America?   How likely are they to just give up their entrenched power?  If history is a judge, not likely.

Even if there is a friendly majority in the Federal House and Senate, Congressional composition will certainly change over time as it has in the past.  Thus there is no assurance that this mechanism will be available consistently going forward.  Further, there are no protections against withdrawal of Consent by Congress in the proposed Contract language.

More fundamentally, consent should not be necessary as the Federal Government has no Constitutional Authority over Health Care.  There is no specific power in Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution giving Congress the power to dictate on health care.  Period.  The Compact in essence recognizes the Federal Government's unconstitutional overreach in Health Care and asks for permission to administer it at the State level.  Are we willing to, in essence, surrender on this matter and become administrative vassals like States are in Europe?  There is no reason to surrender our sovereign rights to manage our health care decisions to the Federal Government.  We don't need consent from Washington D.C. !

Compact Structure

Why do the States need to create an interstate Compact of two or more states in this situation?  Under the Constitution, the individual States have rights already under the 10th Amendment to manage their affairs, and don't need a Compact to exercise their rights.  Creating a new multi-state compact structure is new hurdle that moves away from the intent of the 10th Amendment, and effectively weakens the 10th Amendment.  Further, under the proposed language any one state that withdraws from an existing Compact will result in dissolution of the entire Compact that would leave the other States high and dry.  Can States afford to put their future at risk based upon how the political environment may change in the future with another State in the Compact?  This is hardly a sustainable solution.  Finally, implementing the Compact will likely create a new level of administrative bureaucracy, which runs counter to the goal of reducing the size of government.

Federal Dependency

The Health Care Compact further entrenches the States into dependency on the Federal government by seeking guaranteed federal monies.  This will result in the same "addiction" to Federal monies as Federal highway funds.  How often have legislators and citizens lamented their dependence on those monies and their inability to stand up against Washington on issues because of the ever-standing threat that highway funds will be withdrawn?  Why would we seek a solution for health care that repeats this mistake and makes the States even more dependent upon funding from Washington?  This funding mechanism would be forging more chains of bondage to all-to-willing masters in Washington.

The 10th Amendment Solution

The States, individually and in groups, already have the power to take back health care under the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution.  Lest we forget:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people"

Health Care is not one of the limited enumerated powers under Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution.  It is simply a matter of having the courage, will and fortitude to stand tall and say "NO" to the Federal Government.  State Legislatures, Governors and the People should use their existing Constitutional Authority under the US Constitution to redress the unconstitutional overreach by the Federal Government, including Obamacare, thru all the existing remedies available:

·   Passing legislation that nullifies ObamaCare and sets up an individual state framework for health care consistent with the Constitution, values and will of the People in each state.

·   State Interposition between the Federal Government and the People of their State to halt implementation of ObamaCare within their State boundaries.

·   Heightened grassroots and citizen activism in their home States and Washington D.C.

·   Continued support for the Attorneys General lawsuit.

Many states have already taken these Constitutional steps on behalf of themselves and their citizens to reassert sovereignty, and with regard to Health Care in particular.  North Dakota recently passed strong legislation up through their Governor.  This legislation can be reviewed at the 10th Amendment Center website.

Again, the Health Care Compact proposal is a well-intentioned effort, and those supporting it are our friends and allies in the greater cause.  We should not let differences in approach create divides but rather use this as an opportunity to have thoughtful dialogue and debate, and develop consensus around a Constitutional limited government solution that can be broadly embraced and truly take back power from the Federal Government in keeping with the intent of the Founders and the spirit of the Grassroots movement that brought us together in 2009.

If you ask Muslim cleric Fetullah Gülen, as well as some former president Clinton, the form of Islam the religious leader is preaching is moderate. It's completely compatible with the West and especially the U.S. In other words, it's not radical. But if you ask those who have studied him, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Then you watch some of the videos of him before coming to the U.S. and you're heart drops. And then you realize that he's targeting children - and that taxpayers are paying for some of his endeavors.

Weinergate: alleged Weiner pics hit the web

Congressman Anthony Weiner's Twitter page sent out a lewd Weiner photo on Friday, prompting Congressman Weiner to hastily delete the tweet and proclaim he'd been hacked. He then made the mistake of giving a press conference - which wouldn't have been a mistake if he was innocent of spreading Weiner pics around the internet. But his defense only looked weaker as a CNN reporter pounded away at the newly married Congressman Weiner, asking him point blank: did you send the picture or not? Weiner's answer is one of the worst of all time - possibly even worse than 'wide stance' Larry Craig. Glenn has the incredible audio and goes through the Weinergate timeline on radio today

House avoids raising the debt ceiling

The proposal to raise our national debt ceiling by $2.4 trillion failed badly, going down by the oh so slim margin of 318-97. Even 82 Democrats voted against raising the ceiling. This vote was largely symbolic - so will they be able to avoid raising the ceiling and piling on even more debt? Or will they be eventually forced to cave? Get the details HERE.

Chuck Schumer? Really?

Chuck Schumer recently told a Jewish audience this: "The reason there is no peace in the Middle East is very simple. It's because the majority of Palestinians and the majority of Arabs don't believe there should be an Israel. It's that simple. Anyone who tries to figure out a way to solve this conflict without realizing that truth will never get anywhere." Strong words from someone whose party routinely sides with the Palestinians.
