Remember Always:

It is not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.

It is not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.

It is not the politicians that ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

To futures lost . . . and futures wonIt is the American Soldier . . .

who salutes the flag, who respects the flag, who serves beneath the flag,

and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

To all the men and women who have worn the uniform of our military services:

Washington's Crossing observance of Memorial Day, starts at  10 am Monday

If your children or grandchildren are not taught about what it took to establish and preserve our country, then tomorrow you can begin to

fill in the blanks in their education. If you don't, then who will?

The annual Memorial Day event is held today at Washington's Crossing (north end across from the wild flower preserve).  This is where the war graves are of those who died in camp just prior to the crossing.  They have period re-enactors, existing US military and a number of speakers.  If you have not attended before, it's one of the better Memorial Day events.

Remembering, We Forget

The Patriot Post | By Paul Greenberg | Monday, May 30, 2011

Today we remember not just heroes but the cannoneers who didn't have time to learn their guns before they died in the mud, the troops whom disease took before the enemy could, the nurses blown apart while administering to the wounded and dying, the young conscripts -- ill-trained, ill-clothed and ill-prepared -- sacrificed in America's forgotten war in Korea. No, let no one think on this Memorial Day that war is all derring-do. It is disaster and chaos and death multiplied.

You who read this in freedom, and I who write it in the safety and comfort of a clean, well-lighted office, can do so only because, in a thousand places at a thousand times, grimy, terrified, unsure young soldiers in the fullness of life were willing to give theirs.

That is the price of our forgetful freedom.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE CALL YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE TODAY AND NEXT WEEK!!!!!

Dear Patriots,

A Voter ID bill is to be voted on next week in the Pennsylvania House.  It was supposed to be this week but didn't make it onto the schedule. This bill would require voters to show a photo ID before voting. 23 other states already have this in place.  Georgia has the most stringent Voter ID law and at the last election more people voted than ever before.

With elections coming up, it will be very important to make sure that our votes count and that groups such as ACORN do not have the opportunity to negatively influence voters in our towns and cities.

Please call, write, email your representatives, more than once if you can. We were told that calling works best since they log the call and caller's position.  At a meeting with Warren Kampf yesterday, we learned that he is getting 100 calls AGAINST the bill to 1 vote in favor.  I don't know what is happening to other Representatives but the opposition is well organized. So, please call.

If the link below does not work, highlight, copy and paste the link below into your browser if you want to read the bill. Please see attached for list of legislators. If your Rep. is not on this list, Google: PA General Assembly and click on the tab that says "Representatives" and find your Rep. there.

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 7-9 PM at The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia

A FREE EXCLUSIVE  ONE-NIGHT ONLY EVENT FOR LISTENERS OF THE NEW TALK RADIO 1210, WPHT

Academy Award winning actor Richard Dreyfuss is best known for starring in film, television, and theater roles since the late 1960s, including the films American Graffiti, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Goodbye Girl, Stakeout, Always, What About Bob? and Mr. Holland's Opus.  He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1977 for The Goodbye Girl, and was nominated in 1995 for Mr. Holland's Opus.

Now,  Richard Dreyfuss is taking on a new role. The Oscar-winning actor is Founder and President of The Dreyfuss Initiative, which calls for a cross-curricular study of civics in our public schools that incorporates...

- HISTORY      - LOGIC      - REASON      - CRITICAL THINKING

The Dreyfuss Initiative, a nonprofitorganization committed to revitalizing America's civic culture.   Richard also serves on the American Bar Association's Education Committee, the Board of the National Constitution Center, and was Senior Research Advisory Member of St. Antony's College, Oxford University.

THIS WILL BE AN ENTERTAINING EVENING FOR PARENTS, FOR STUDENTS, FOR EVERYONE!

Richard will share why he believes that too many of us don't realize the power we hold in a democracy. The solution, he says, is to change the way students learn about civics, the study of the rights and duties of citizenship.  Learn why we need a national standard that calls for teaching reason, logic and critical thinking skills before teaching government as a way of providing perspective and context in civics classes.

ARE AMERICAN STUDENTS PREPARED TO INHERIT THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR GREAT NATION?

Richard Dreyfuss joins 1210s Dom Giordano for this unique 2-hour LIVE event and will lay out the critically important issues, and discuss why he believes we must be preparing our nation's next generation to be effective and engaged citizens.

The event is free.  Seating is limited.  You must register to attend.

They Gave Their Fortunes and Lives for Our Liberty

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." --John 15:12-14

Memorial Day was first observed as Decoration Day to commemorate those who died in the War Between the States. It is a day set aside in deference to American Patriots who pledged and delivered their lives to Support and Defend the Rule of Law enshrined in our Constitution.

Since our nation's founding, more than one million American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen have paid the ultimate price in defense of our nation, and it is their final sacrifice that we honor with solemn reverence.

Our Founders clearly understood that the burden of sustaining Liberty would be calculated in human sacrifice. As John Adams noted, "I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure that it will cost to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States." So, on this last Monday in May, millions of American Patriots will honor the service and sacrifice of these uniformed Patriots by participating in respectful commemorations across the nation.

Who were these brave souls?

On 12 May 1962, Gen. Douglas MacArthur addressed the cadets at the U.S. Military Academy, offering this description: "Their story is known to all of you. It is the story of the American man at arms. My estimate of him was formed on the battlefields many, many years ago and has never changed. I regarded him then, as I regard him now, as one of the world's noblest figures -- not only as one of the finest military characters, but also as one of the most stainless. His name and fame are the birthright of every American citizen. In his youth and strength, his love and loyalty, he gave all that mortality can give. He needs no eulogy from me, or from any other man. He has written his own history and written it in red on his enemy's breast."

Gen. MacArthur continued: "In twenty campaigns, on a hundred battlefields, around a thousand campfires, I have witnessed that enduring fortitude, that patriotic self-abnegation and that invincible determination which have carved his statue in the hearts of his people. From one end of the world to the other, he has drained deep the chalice of courage. As I listened to those songs in memory's eye, I could see those staggering columns of the First World War, bending under soggy packs on many a weary march, from dripping dusk to drizzling dawn, slogging ankle deep through mire of shell-pocked roads; to form grimly for the attack, blue-lipped, covered with sludge and mud, chilled by the wind and rain, driving home to their objective, and for many, to the judgment seat of God. I do not know the dignity of their birth, but I do know the glory of their death. They died unquestioning, uncomplaining, with faith in their hearts, and on their lips the hope that we would go on to victory. Always for them: duty, honor, country. Always their blood, and sweat, and tears, as they saw the way and the light."

In the current era, too many of our countrymen have no understanding of, or appreciation for duty, honor, and country. They are swooned by media outlets luring them to Memorial Day "sales" that glorify the commercial exploitation now attendant to every national day of recognition. Indeed, while divisions of America's Armed Forces around the world are standing in harm's way against formidable Jihadi adversaries, many Americans will be too preoccupied with beer, barbecue and baseball to pause and recognize the priceless burden borne by generations of uniformed Patriots, that they may be so preoccupied.

To a great extent, Memorial Day has been sold out, and no more so than by politicians who use the occasion to feign Patriotism for a day (or a moment) while in reality, they are in constant violation of their sacred oaths to our Constitution.

In the last few weeks, I have observed the current commander in chief of our Armed Forces as he has converted Osama's Termination into political fodder for his 2012 campaign. For a man who has shown so much contempt for our uniformed Patriots, he has wasted no time taking credit for their successes.

Is he fit for command?

Unlike political advancement, which in most cases is attained by duplicity and deception, moving up the ranks in our Armed Services is based largely on performance evaluations. Each service branch has its own assessment forms for officers and NCOs. The Army has Officer Evaluation Reports, the Air Force has Officer Performance Reports, and the Navy and Marine Corps have Fitness Reports (FITREPs), all in order to evaluate proficiency and character as prerequisites for advancement.

The Army evaluates loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. Let there be no doubt that if the current CINC were subject to the same appraisal as an Army or Marine Corps E-5 (sergeant), he would be judged severely under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Indeed, he would likely be court-martialed for dereliction of duty and dishonorably discharged. No CINC in our nation's history has been less fit to serve in that capacity than Barack Hussein Obama.

Obama's malfeasance notwithstanding, there is still great promise for Liberty and the security of that promise resides, first and foremost, within the ranks of our uniformed Patriots, our countrymen who have volunteered years of their young lives and have publicly declared their dedication to the ideals of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. It is fitting therefore that we honor their service accordingly.

On Memorial Day of 1982, President Ronald Reagan offered these words in honor of Patriots interred at Arlington National Cemetery: "I have no illusions about what little I can add now to the silent testimony of those who gave their lives willingly for their country. Words are even more feeble on this Memorial Day, for the sight before us is that of a strong and good nation that stands in silence and remembers those who were loved and who, in return, loved their countrymen enough to die for them. Yet, we must try to honor them not for their sakes alone, but for our own. And if words cannot repay the debt we owe these men, surely with our actions we must strive to keep faith with them and with the vision that led them to battle and to final sacrifice."

He continued, "Our first obligation to them and ourselves is plain enough: The United States and the freedom for which it stands, the freedom for which they died, must endure and prosper. Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply. It has a cost; it imposes a burden. And just as they whom we commemorate were willing to sacrifice, so too must we -- in a less final, less heroic way -- be willing to give of ourselves. It is this, beyond the controversy and the congressional debate, beyond the blizzard of budget numbers and the complexity of modern weapons systems, that motivates us in our search for security and peace. ... The willingness of some to give their lives so that others might live never fails to evoke in us a sense of wonder and mystery. One gets that feeling here on this hallowed ground, and I have known that same poignant feeling as I looked out across the rows of white crosses and Stars of David in Europe, in the Philippines, and the military cemeteries here in our own land. Each one marks the resting place of an American hero and, in my lifetime, the heroes of World War I, the Doughboys, the GI's of World War II or Korea or Vietnam. They span several generations of young Americans, all different and yet all alike, like the markers above their resting places, all alike in a truly meaningful way."

President Reagan concluded, "As we honor their memory today, let us pledge that their lives, their sacrifices, their valor shall be justified and remembered for as long as God gives life to this nation. ... I can't claim to know the words of all the national anthems in the world, but I don't know of any other that ends with a question and a challenge as ours does: 'O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?' That is what we must all ask."

Indeed we must.

For the fallen, we are certain of that which is noted on all Marine Corps Honorable Discharge orders: "Fideli Certa Merces" -- to the faithful there is certain reward.

To the beneficiaries of the legacy of Liberty that they defended with their lives, I humbly ask that each of you observe Memorial Day with reverence.

You can help to prepare for Memorial Day by placing flags at headstones in your local military cemetery (generally the Saturday prior to Memorial Day). Take a moment and read about the Tomb of the Unknowns. In honor of American Patriots who have died in defense of our great nation, lower your flag to half-staff from sunrise to 1200 on Monday. (Read more about proper etiquette and protocol.) Join us by setting aside a time of silence for remembrance and prayer. Offer a personal word of gratitude and comfort to surviving family members you know who are grieving for a beloved warrior fallen in battle.

On this and every day, please pray for our Patriot Armed Forces now standing in harm's way around the world in defense of our Liberty, and for the families awaiting their safe return.

Please view our Patriot Memorial Day Tributes.

Scoff at the urban myth that the Muslims invented the zero.

Sure, mathematician Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi was hugely influential in spreading the word, but the principles upon which he worked were discovered years before Muhammad. What we call Arabic numerals actually come from pre-Islamic India. Tell your liberal friend that what the Muslims actually invented was not the zero, but in fact zero-except for a few cultural traditions (like harems) that are quite nice for the oppressive male patriarchy.

Introducing "Fuel Choice"-The New Way of Empowering You!

By Kelly Cook, National Field Director

Our National Conference and Legislative Briefing is Now 95% Full. This Event will be Sold Out Very Shortly! Don't Miss Out. Click Here for Details.

Face it. We've been played.

OPEC
(Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) is playing a deadly game with America. Their oil price fixing mechanism is legendary in the unjust world of anti-trust schemes.

The fact is that oil prices in the $15 to $20 a barrel range provide plenty of fair and reasonable profits for any oil exporting nation. Then why are oil prices today over $100 per barrel? OPEC is laughing all the way to the bank.

Here's the game: OPEC, through willingness to price fix among its 12 nation partners, gradually ratchets up the price of oil through secretly agreed-to reductions in supply.
They don't care if they're not producing as much oil. The skyrocketing prices on the oil they do produce are more than enough to provide for their lavish lifestyles and........their generous donations to worldwide Islamic jihadist operations.

As soon as the American public starts to really feel the pain at the pump and begin to lobby their members of Congress to do something about it, oil supplies "magically" increase and the price of gas settles down just enough to prevent the outrage that was about to boil over. And so the cycle goes-by design!

We at ACT! for America are tired of being played in this deadly game of supplying the enemy with the resources to attack us. This is why we are fully supporting the Open Fuel Standard ACT of 2011. We are calling for Members of Congress to enthusiastically co-sponsor this vital legislation.

Why the Open Fuel Standard Act?
Imagine you've got a flex fuel car-a car that has been retro-fitted to accept at least 2 different kinds of fuel. You notice the price of regular gas just hit $4.10 per gallon. Because you can also run on methanol (or electricity, natural gas, etc), you check the current price for methanol which is approximately $1.65! Now that you've got "Fuel Choice," you fill up with methanol! Methanol can be produced from natural gas and biomass (common trash, plant wastes, landfill materials, etc). Therefore, it's a potential environmental winner as well.

What happens when tens of millions of consumers start taking advantage of fuel choice and switch to other fuels? OPEC is forced to bring down its prices in order to compete. Game over. The price of oil per barrel would plummet down to its natural market trading range of $10 to $25 per barrel.

How can we be so sure of this? Brazil has already done it-back in the 80's and it's still working for them! Do you know that two of the major car suppliers to Brazil's flex fuel market are GM and Ford? Brazil's proven success demonstrates that a single nation can employ this strategy successfully as a solitary nation against the forces of worldwide markets.

Why shouldn't the U.S. and other major oil consuming countries follow suit? The transition costs are minimal when compared to the tremendous savings and security we all will enjoy through fuel choice!

I know some of you are asking: "What about Drill Baby Drill"? We are enthusiastically in favor of developing all strategies to disarm OPEC and their deadly allies. We need to develop all forms of energy, especially our unfathomable supplies of oil, natural gas, coal and nuclear energy technologies. Encouraging fuel choice through the Open Fuel Standard ACT of 2011 will only enhance these and other needed developments.

Nine NATO service members were killed Thursday in Afghanistan, including seven U.S. troops among eight who died when a powerful bomb exploded in a field where they were patrolling on foot, officials said.

Two Afghan policemen also died and two others were wounded in the explosion in the mountainous Shorabak district of Kandahar province, 12 miles from the Pakistan border, said Gen. Abdul Raziq, chief of the Afghan border police in the province.

"Two months ago, we cleared this area of terrorists, but still they are active there," Raziq said.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast.

National Right To Work Legal Defense

President Barack Obama's self-avowed commitment to transparency clearly doesn't apply to Big Labor.

With free legal aid from National Right to Work Foundation attorneys, Chris Mosquera, a United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union member, filed a federal lawsuit against Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis for gutting union boss financial disclosure requirements.

During the George W. Bush presidency, Foundation attorneys worked hard to strengthen the existing weak requirements, so employees could learn how union officials are spending their forced-dues money.

In 2009, one of the first actions taken by Solis was to STOP these reforms.

On Monday, I appeared with Mosquera on "Your World With Neil Cavuto" on Fox News to discuss the lawsuit.

Right to Work Criticizes Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis for Gutting Union Transparency Rules
Right to Work Criticizes Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis for Gutting Union Transparency Rules

Mosquera's battle for transparency echoes the results of the Foundation's scientific poll last year, finding that 72 percent of union members think union bosses should be held more accountable to workers and 63 percent think union bosses are overpaid.

The Big Labor bosses, of course, will do anything to keep their expensive trips, fancy hotels, fat restaurant tabs, and personal luxuries hidden from rank-and-file workers who are forced to foot the bill.

Worse, the Obama Administration has helped keep workers in the dark.

Sincerely,

Mark Mix

P.S. The Foundation relies completely on voluntary contributions from its supporters to provide free legal aid.

If you can, please chip in with a tax-deductible contribution of $10 or more today to support the Foundation's programs.

POLITICO Headline: GOP members drop like flies off Pickens bill

Conservatives Fight Bipartisan Energy Subsidy Bill

Old habits die hard in Washington. In fact, many observers expected the "NAT GAS Act," a package of energy subsidies, to fly through Congress. Washington should not be picking winners and losers in energy, the free market should.

Thankfully, because of pressure from Heritage Action, other conservative groups, and conservatives like you from across the country, momentum has shifted against the proposed energy subsidies.

Subsidies for natural gas vehicles are a key piece of billionaire T. Boone Pickens' government-centric energy plan. After introduction of HR 1380, more than 100 Democrats and 80 Republicans co-sponsored the bill.

Then, conservatives turned up the pressure.

No energy subsidies: Subsidies distort the marketplace, transferring the cost of technological innovation from private companies to taxpayers. $5 billion in subsidies may seem inconsequential given the scope of our challenge -- $14 trillion in debt -- but this is a test of our principles.

Our "powerhouse" formula: We asked you to fight back, and as you made calls, our government relations team reached out to Members of Congress. Together, we explained why the bill violates conservative principles. As our efforts intensified, politicians and the press began to take note. The Daily Caller called us a "conservative powerhouse."

Coalition builds: Heritage Action led a coalition of 20 conservative organizations, jointly sending a letter to Congress. The National Journal reported the unified letter "dealt a blow" to the subsidy bill.

Momentum shift: The bill stopped gaining co-sponsors, and several Representatives dropped off. Just yesterday, as more insidious elements of the bill were exposed, two additional Members reversed course, pulling themselves off the bill (video on our site).

This prompted the Politico to write that "GOP members drop like flies off Pickens bill."

We still have work to do. Just because momentum has shifted doesn't mean the Washington Establishment has given up. Mr. Pickens, the investor who stands to gain much from HR 1380's subsidies, penned an op-ed questioning the patriotism of those who opposed this legislation. We need to keep up the public pressure against new subsidies. That's why we mobilized two new actions on our activist website just this morning.

Keep the pressure on! Take action:

With your help, we can keep this issue in the news and push back against the Washington Establishment.

Thanks for standing with us. Have a safe, and happy, Memorial Day weekend.

Sincerely,

Tim Chapman

Mislabeling kids as ADHD? Investigate federal rules

May 29, 2011
GOOD INTENTIONS have gone awry in the federal program that gives cash benefits to families of disabled children, and a comprehensive assessment of the program's weaknesses is the first step toward fixing it. Given the strong possibility that children are being misclassified as disabled to make their families eligible for checks of up to $700 a month, Congress should happily pay the $10 million or so needed to fund a study of the program by the well-regarded Institute of Medicine. And then it should quickly implement any changes based on the institute's findings before more children are misclassified.

Obama's malignant obsession with Jews and Israel

Arizona doing the job the feds won't do graphic
In their 5-3 decision Thursday, the justices made clear that states can play a role in what is generally a federal system of immigration regulation. The court upheld a 2007 Arizona law that revokes the business license of companies that hire unauthorized workers, saying it met an exception to the usual federal prohibition on states setting civil or criminal penalties in this area.
The court "gives the green light to state use of licensing laws as a tool of immigration enforcement," says Temple University law professor Peter Spiro, predicting that advocates for restrictions will likely push other states to adopt measures similar to Arizona. "But that doesn't mean they will get their way," added Spiro, who specializes in immigration law. "Business interests are very powerful in state capitals."
Jay Sekulow, chief counsel at the American Center for Law and Justice, among the groups that backed Arizona at the court, said, "I think you're going to see this become a catalyst for state action, in licensing and other areas." He termed the ruling "a road map" for states that want "to protect their borders and citizens." [USA Today, May 27]      Click here for the source story

Trump?

Photo of Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin's announcement that she will begin a slick, campaign-style bus tour this weekend set off a frenzy of media and political speculation about her intentions for the 2012 presidential race.
The political flurry foreshadowed the kind of adrenaline shot to the heart that Ms. Palin's candidacy could be for a presidential campaign that had recently looked like it was coalescing around a pretty traditional set of contenders. Traditional she is not.
But Mr. Trump's was a brief dalliance with presidential politics that almost appeared to have been done on a whim. Ms. Palin, by contrast, has been moving slowly and methodically for several years. Aides have said for months that she wanted to be in a position to run for president if that's what she decided to do.
Ms. Palin and her aides revealed few clues on Thursday, which leaves a lot of people in Washington and around the country guessing.

Obama's Economy Worse than the 1970s
By Floyd and Mary Beth Brown, FloydReports.com

The worst economic conditions in recent memory were during the Jimmy Carter era of stagflation. Stagflation was a term coined in the 1970s to describe high unemployment with high inflation. Stagflation is back. Translation: America's middle class is getting poorer; a record number of middle class workers are out of work. If you are lucky enough to have a job, your wages aren't going up, but you are facing higher prices for everything.

"Recent data suggests that the current economic recovery is both sluggish and slowing with unemployment stubbornly high," this from a page one story in Investor's Business Daily.

The Obama/Bernanke partnership has been a bust....

Canada stands on guard for Israel

Canada takes firm pro-Israel line at G8 summit

JPOST

DEAUVILLE, France - Group of Eight leaders had to soften a statement urging Israel and the Palestinians to return to negotiations because Canada objected to a specific mention of 1967 borders, diplomats said on Friday.

Canada's right-leaning Conservative government has adopted a staunchly pro-Israel position in international negotiations since coming to power in 2006, with Prime Minister Stephen Harper saying Canada will back Israel whatever the cost.

Diplomats involved in Middle East discussions at the G8 summit said Ottawa had insisted that no mention of Israel's pre-1967 borders be made in the leaders' final communique, even though most of the other leaders wanted a mention.

"The Canadians were really very adamant, even though Obama expressly referred to 1967 borders in his speech last week," one European diplomat said.

A spokesman for Harper would not comment on the line Canada had...

Poor Obama, he had it coming

Walter Russell Mead let's him have it in The Dreamer Goes Down For The Count

But the last few weeks have cast him as the least competent manager of America's Middle East diplomatic portfolio in a very long time. He has infuriated and frustrated long term friends, but made no headway in reconciling enemies. He has strained our ties with the established regimes without winning new friends on the Arab Street. He has committed our forces in the strategically irrelevant backwater of Libya not, as he originally told us, for "days, not weeks" but for months not days.

Where he has failed so dramatically is in the arena he himself has so frequently identified as vital: the search for peace between Palestinians and Israelis. His record of grotesque, humiliating and total diplomatic failure in his dealings with Prime Minister Netanyahu has few parallels in American history. Three times he has gone up against Netanyahu; three times he has ingloriously failed. This...

What Obama did to Israel (screwed her)

By Charles Krauthammer, WASHINGTON POST

Every Arab-Israeli negotiation contains a fundamental asymmetry: Israel gives up land, which is tangible; the Arabs make promises, which are ephemeral. The long-standing American solution has been to nonetheless urge Israel to take risks for peace while America balances things by giving assurances of U.S. support for Israel's security and diplomatic needs.

It's on the basis of such solemn assurances that Israel undertook, for example, the Gaza withdrawal. In order to mitigate this risk, President George W. Bush gave a written commitment that America supported Israel absorbing major settlement blocs in any peace agreement, opposed any return to the 1967 lines and stood firm against the so-called Palestinian right of return to Israel.

For 2 1/2 years, the Obama administration has refused to recognize and reaffirm these assurances. Then last week in his State Department speech, President Obama definitively trashed them. He...

Belman's realism trumps Kay's pragmatism

By Ted Belman

Jonathan Kay is the Senior Editor of the National Post. He just wrote I want to support Israel, but Netanyahu is making it difficult. I was surprised because I know him and though I knew he was to the left of me, I never realized how far left.

He starts it by writing

The Middle East conflict is a fight about land. But it's also a fight about time - about which exact historical moment we should use as our benchmark in assessing what real estate belongs to whom.

He goes on to say he thinks the right time is 1949.

Why do I pick 1949 and not, say, 1900 (no Israel) or July, 1967 (Greater Israel)? Because historical benchmarks are meaningful only when they offer some realistic guide to shaping the present. And so in choosing between divergent, irreconcilable geographical visions cherry-picked from history, pragmatism should be our guide. The Jews and their state are not going anywhere. But neither are Palestinians suddenly going to give up their...

The MSM misrepresents Jewish support for Israel

CAMERA

A poll of more than 1000 American Jews conducted by Frank Luntz, PhD of Luntz Global on behalf of CAMERA on May 16-17 finds continuing, deep support for Israel.

News media accounts often amplify a vocal fringe in the American Jewish community that espouses extreme views and policies far out of the mainstream. Often, for example, J Street, a group whose views represent a tiny percentage of American Jews, is reported as an equal counterpart to AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, whose various positions, according to the poll, express majority, mainstream views.

Similarly, some news reports have claimed American Jews are increasingly alienated from Israel due to perceived failures of the Israeli government and people to move expeditiously to achieve peace.

In fact, the poll results show strong belief in Israel's commitment to peace efforts and apprehension about its existential situation and its Palestinian adversaries with their "culture of...

The Arab Spring from a Counter-Terrorism Perspective

By Boaz Ganor, JCPA

World War III is occurring right now. It is not only a war of ideas, it is a religious war - not between Islam and the rest of the world, but first and foremost a war within the religion of Islam. It is a war of the culture of Islamic radicalism against the rest of the world, which includes the majority of Muslims worldwide.

A few months ago, White House Counter-Terrorism Advisor John Brennan said, "Islamists and Jihadists are not our enemy." In response, I wrote an op-ed in the Jerusalem Post which explains that moderate Arab leaders know that Jihadists and Islamists are the enemy. By saying that Islamists and Jihadists are not the enemy, the United States - the spearhead of Western society and the protector of liberal values in the world - is sending a confusing message to its allies worldwide.

In the competition between the Iranian axis and the pragmatic axis, the Iranian axis is winning. Hizbullah is growing...

Israeli People and Experts: We Support Netanyahu and Don't Want to Return to 1967 Borders. U.S. Media: Israelis Don't Like Netanyahu and Israeli Experts Say 1967 Borders are OK

Israeli People and Experts: We Support Netanyahu and Don't Want to Return to 1967 Borders. U.S. Media: Israelis Don't Like Netanyahu and Israeli Experts Say 1967 Borders are OK

Here's the evidence:

New York Times headline:" Israelis See Netanyahu Trip as Diplomatic Failure."

Compliments of Anglo Saxon Ra'anana Real Estate

Quote for the Week

Real peace between nations is accomplished by people in the field like us.

Dr Ahmed Said of the Ramalla Central Hospital on a visit to the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa. (Is everybody listening out there?! )

As those who read GN regularly will have noticed, we avoid politics of any kind so what follows is merely a report on what happened: Our Prime Minister addressed a joint sitting of Congress and the Senate in Washington D C yesterday. He received twenty-six standing ovations - we counted 27 but what's one standing ovation between friends - in a 45 minute speech. This morning , his detractors detracted and his admirers admired but our guess is that there were a lot more of the latter and a lot fewer of the former than there were before his appearance. The reason? Simple. Nobody, but nobody does it as well as our PM. And, with the greatest respect, that includes most...

The Obama Doctrine

by Dr. Jonathan Rhynhold, INN

By effectively ignoring most of Obama's speech on the Middle East, the media has missed its most significant element: the enunciation of a new US foreign policy doctrine for the area - the Obama doctrine. It has serious implications for Israel.

First and foremost, the Obama doctrine for the Middle East prioritizes the engagement of the public in the Middle East, rather than the engagement of the states in the region. America's strategic credibility is based, then, on being seen to support populist calls for reform, rather than on supporting its long-time strategic allies.

Thus, when choosing between supporting regimes that have been strategic allies or supporting the people demonstrating against those regimes, the Obama administration has taken the side of the demonstrators, arguing that in any case the status quo cannot hold.

It is in this context that Obama's approach to the Arab-Israeli conflict needs to be understood. One...

Attorneys to Ban: Halt unilateral Palestinian statehood

A few weeks ago I posted that a letter was sent to Ban Ki Moon by Yesha Council. I am trying to confirm whether these letters are the same. Go back and read the letter carefully. Also read the comment by Howard Grief. Ted Belman

By TOVAH LAZAROFF, JPOST

Int'l group of some 60 lawyers say UN resolution on statehood would be a violation of all past agreements between Israel, the Palestinians.

An international group of some 60 attorneys, including former Foreign Ministry legal adviser Alan Baker, has appealed to United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to prevent a General Assembly resolution on unilateral Palestinian statehood, based on the pre-1967 lines.

In a letter dated Wednesday, the attorneys noted that such a resolution would be a violation of all past agreements between Israel and the Palestinians. They added that it would also contravene UN resolutions 242 and 338.

According to the attorneys, the legal basis for the establishment of the state by the League of...

Lessons of Netanyahu's triumph

By Caroline Glick, JPOST

So, just as he was about to board his plane, Netanyahu realized that his mission in the US capital had changed. His job wasn't to go along to get along. His job was to stop Obama from driving Israel's relations with the US off a cliff.

Netanyahu was no longer going to Washington to explain where Israel will stand aside. He was going to Washington to explain what Israel stands for. Obama threw down the gauntlet. Netanyahu needed to pick it up by rallying both the Israeli people to his side and rallying the American people to Israel's side. Both goals, he realized, could only be accomplished by presenting his vision of what Israel is and what it stands for.

And Netanyahu did his job. He did his job brilliantly.

ISRAEL TODAY is the target of an ever escalating campaign to demonize and delegitimize it. Just this week we learned that a dozen towns in Scotland have decided to ban Israeli books from their public libraries. One Scottish town has...

The NYT again distorts, misleads and misrepresents.

By Ted Belman

The NY Times continues to misrepresent reality in this article but the title The Mideast Peace Process: No Plan for Talkswas OK.

This is the time for bold ideas to salvage Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel did not seize it. In his address to Congress, he showed - once again - that he has no serious appetite for the kind of compromises that are the only way to forge a two-state solution and guarantee both Palestinians their long-denied state and Israel's long-term security.

Notice how they put the sole onus on Netanyahju and assume that capitulation will bring "long-term security." No one has denied the palestinians their state save for their leaders.

President Obama showed more rhetorical initiative when he spoke, but he doesn't appear to have a strategy for reviving negotiations. Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority, is refusing to come back to the table and is...

For those of you who live on Mars, last week was a big week for Sarah Palin. The following announcements were made:

1. Stephen Bannon has made a two hour documentary film on Palins record and VP run. It aims to set the record straight. Sort of like a Mr Smith goes to Washington type story. He says it will go off like "an atomic bomb".

2. Starting this weekend Gov Palin is taking a month long bus tour of historic places on the eastert seaboard. Sort of like a whistle stop tour. She has decorated the bus in red, white a blue emblazonned on it with the slogons "One Nation" and "We the People".

3. Before the tour starts she is participating in the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally in Washington involving 250,000 bikers including sarah and Todd on one of the bikes. The event is to honour veterans, a cause close to her heart.

In her most recent Facebook post below she attacks Obama's Egypt policy.

Obama's Cop-Killing Justice Department

Eric Holder's BATFE encouraged sale of gun used to murder Border Patrol agent Brian Terry
by Bill Levinson

Q: What is the difference between Emily Gross and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives?
A: Gross got prison time for
buying the gun her boyfriend used to kill a State Trooper, BATFE suffered no consequences for encouraging gun dealers to sell the gun that criminals used to kill a Border Patrol agent.

The Left, especially the Brady Campaign, often accuses gun dealers of selling guns without performing background checks, or selling them to suspicious people. New York's dishonest Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, ran a rogue sting operation in which he sent investigators to have themselves videotaped buying guns while saying, "I probably wouldn't pass a background check." The truth is however that responsible gun dealers balked at selling weapons, including AK-47s and 50 caliber sniper rifles, to suspicious people but were told by the...

Lack of media coverage and indiference of the Obama Administration to the flooding in the Midwest

ATT00008

This is pretty hard hitting stuff but seems spot on to me... This is Iowa

(Kind of makes you wonder, hmmm?)

After Katrina, the media blamed the lack of response on the Bush administration's dislike of black people.

Can we then conclude from the lack of media coverage and response by the Obama administration that Obama doesn't like white people?

See  Below:
Where are the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and North Dakota and helping the folks affected by the floods? Where is good old Michael Moore?

Why is the media NOT asking the tough questions about   why the federal government hasn't solved this problem?

...Asking where the FEMA trucks and trailers and food services are?

ATT00011

Why isn't the Federal government moving Iowa people into free hotels in Chicago and Minneapolis?

When will Spike Lee say that the Federal government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?

Where are Sean Penn, Bono, and the Dixie Chicks?

ATT00020

Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes, cases of beer and television sets?

ATT00023

When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a 'vanilla' Iowa... because that's what God wants?

ATT00026

Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of shootings at rescuers, of rapes and murder?

ATT00029

Where are all the people screaming that Barack Obama hates white, rural people?

My God, where are Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt,  Oprah, and Ray Coniff Jr.?

ATT00032

How come you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?

Where are the gov't. bail out vouchers? The government debit cards?

More people died in these floods then from Katrina...how come the media doesn't report that?! There must be one hell of a big difference between the value of the people of Iowa and value of the people of Louisiana.

HERE'S THE REAL TRUTH:

THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF GOVERNMENT CONTROL OF THE MEDIA, AND SOON TO BE GOV'T. CONTROL OF INTERNET, CELL PHONES, RADIO AND ALL COMMUNICATION AS WELL AS THE PRESENT NETWORK NEWS ON TV.

WAKE UP, AMERICANS...

WHOMEVER CONTROLS THE MEDIA CONTROLS THE COUNTRY!

THIS IS ONLY ONE OF THE "ARMS" THAT IS NOW IN PLACE TO ACCOMPLISH THE TAKE OVER OF YOUR COUNTRY!

President Ignores War Powers Act. Congress does nothing

May 28, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins

By Jim Emerson, staff writer

In another blatant act of chutzpah President Obama declared that his direction of military action against Libya is so limited it does not have to comply with the War Powers Act. The fact that the operation was lead by the United States in establishing a UN approved No-Fly- Zone, air and missile strikes disappeared down George Orwell's famous Memory Hole. The passing of the mission to NATO was nothing more than window dressing.

May 20th marked the 60th day of military action against Libya and the Administration can only declare the usual rules of war don't apply to them. Sad to say the Democrats created the war powers act and it looks like the Democratic Administration's contempt for the rule of law will render it useless.  Their main argument: the mission is now NATO lead so the act no longer applies doesn't hold water.

The Schechter brothers: plucked by Roosevelt, but loved him anyway

May 27, 2011 11:11 am | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

Immediately after his coronation, King Franklin Roosevelt established The National Recovery Administration (NRA) and vested it with dictatorial powers. King Franklin had seized upon the fear and anxiety the average American felt in the Great Depression and he thought people would roll over and become his surfs to save them. The Schechter brothers, four Orthodox Jewish immigrants working as kosher butchers in Brooklyn, had other ideas. They fought King Franklin all the way to the United States Supreme Court and their winning decision came down 76 years ago today.

The brothers with the thick Eastern European accents and odd looking grab had placed their faith in the courts of their adopted country and won.

 Selling "dirty" chickens

The Roosevelt Administration was built on a deadly and corrosive theory: getting out of the Great Depression could only be achieved by forcing prices ever higher. His "oh so smart" advisors foolishly believed  scarcity and high consumer prices ... Continue Reading:The Schechter brothers: plucked by Roosevelt, but loved him anyway

Our Health in Globalists' hands?

May 29, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins

 By Suzanne Eovaldi, staff writer

Is the American Medical System's passion for slash, burn, and poison treatment methods really a part of a global conspiracy to give a chosen few control over America's economy?  A brilliant new book titled "The Trillion Dollar Conspiracy,

How The New World Order, Man-Made Diseases and Zombie Banks Are Destroying America" by gifted author Jim Marrs posits just that theme.

On pg. 135, Dr. Michael WIlkes of U. of CA. says, "Most pharmaceutical companies devote huge amounts of money to prevent control and cure of diseases."    Marrs points out that "ten drug companies (make) more than all profits combined of the other 490 Fortune 500 companies."  So are we just being exploited by this massive combine to turn us into legal drug user zombies?   "Fluoride is the 94% component of Prozac," (pg. 100) says Marrs.

Aldous Huxley's famous 1961 quote (pg. 132-3) about using a "pharmacological method of making people love their servitude" to produce a no ... Continue Reading:Our Health in Globalists' hands?

Palin 2012 just got more likely

Most have written off Sarah Palin as a possible 2012 contender after the relentless spanking she's received from the lib media. Just when they thought she was down and out - Sarah Barracuda once again catches them off guard. First it was revealed Palin was able to produce an entire movie about her record without anyone catching wind of it. Then she launches a massive bus tour that screams 2012 Presidential run. Will she run? Should she run? More at GlennBeck.com.

Bachmann 2012 all but official

Another prominent female conservative tossing her hat into the ring is Michele Bachmann who apparently has revealed she will be announcing soon. There are all kinds of political games that go into these announcements, but Bachmann is said to be all but officially a go for 2012 -- which is sure to up the excitement for the GOP field. The equality obsessed left loves women, unless they are conservative, so it should be fun to watch the gender attacks ramp up from the loving left. The Blaze has more on Bachmann's bid and chances...

Ahhh, Government: $$ spent on shrimp treadmills and Jell-O wrestling...in Antarctica (seriously) DETAILS.

The most maddening compensation package ever? "Public Servant" in New Jersey makes $185,000 as Executive Director of a local 'improvement authority' --- but that's just the beginning. Grab the duct tape and try not to let your head explode...WATCH.

Congress irrelevant

Glenn has said for quite some time that Congress will become irrelevant because progressives believe Congress just gets in the way of progress. So they find ways to circumvent the system - Elizabeth Warren has not been approved by Congress and was grilled about it during a very testy hearing in D.C. yesterday. The questions got tough enough that Warren actually tried to escape with the old 'I have another appointment' excuse. Listen to the confrontation HERE.

Arab Spring paid by -- YOU?

There are more planned spontaneous uprisings happening this weekend. While it's all glorious and everything, it's costing these countries a ton of money. Who's going to pay for it all? Leaders from Egypt and Tunisia met Friday with President Obama and appealed for help after the violence scared away tourists and investors. Who wouldn't want to chip in on an effort that's seeing a rise in radical extremist Islam? Glenn has a few words for the President on radio today. WATCH
