The Dreyfuss Initiative: An Evening With Richard Dreyfuss

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 7-9 PM at The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia
A FREE EXCLUSIVE ONE-NIGHT ONLY EVENT FOR LISTENERS OF THE NEW TALK RADIO 1210, WPHT
Academy Award winning actor Richard Dreyfuss is best known for starring in film, television, and theater roles since the late 1960s, including the films American Graffiti, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Goodbye Girl, Stakeout, Always, What About Bob? and Mr. Holland's Opus. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1977 for The Goodbye Girl, and was nominated in 1995 for Mr. Holland's Opus.
Now, Richard Dreyfuss is taking on a new role. The Oscar-winning actor is Founder and President of The Dreyfuss Initiative, which calls for a cross-curricular study of civics in our public schools that incorporates...
- HISTORY - LOGIC - REASON - CRITICAL THINKING
The Dreyfuss Initiative, a nonprofitorganization committed to revitalizing America's civic culture. Richard also serves on the American Bar Association's Education Committee, the Board of the National Constitution Center, and was Senior Research Advisory Member of St. Antony's College, Oxford University.
THIS WILL BE AN ENTERTAINING EVENING FOR PARENTS, FOR STUDENTS, FOR EVERYONE!
Richard will share why he believes that too many of us don't realize the power we hold in a democracy. The solution, he says, is to change the way students learn about civics, the study of the rights and duties of citizenship. Learn why we need a national standard that calls for teaching reason, logic and critical thinking skills before teaching government as a way of providing perspective and context in civics classes.
ARE AMERICAN STUDENTS PREPARED TO INHERIT THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR GREAT NATION?
Richard Dreyfuss joins 1210s Dom Giordano for this unique 2-hour LIVE event and will lay out the critically important issues, and discuss why he believes we must be preparing our nation's next generation to be effective and engaged citizens.
The event is free. Seating is limited. You must register to attend.

Michael J. Totten
Why Lebanon Matters
As revolutions and uprisings overtake the Middle East-with Western forces in Libya, Basher Assad crushing Syrian rebels, and Egypt under tension-does little Lebanon matter?
Very much so, argues Michael J. Totten, a foreign correspondent noted for his behind-the scenes conversations with many key players in the region-including Hezbollah.
His new and insightful book, The Road to Fatima Gate, offers Totten's first hand experiences of the 2005 Cedar Revolution, the devastating 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, and the latter's progressive assault on Lebanon's elected government.
A noted journalist-his work has appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Jerusalem Post and many other publications-Totten will offer a sobering assessment of Lebanon and its overlooked significance in Middle East politics.

RedState Morning Briefing
For May 23, 2011
1. Off to the races with the horses we have
On Saturday, several thousand people showed up in the humid heat of Atlanta to hear Herman Cain announce his bid for the Presidency.
Today, in Iowa, Tim Pawlenty will announce his bid. If you have not seen it already, go watch Pawlenty's preview. I am actually floored it is so well done.
Newt Gingrich is already in.
Mitt Romney will make a big splash soon and for all intents and purposes is fully and already in.
Then were are Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, and a few others with Sarah Palin as a late entrant possibility.
I hope like heck that this is it. I hear rumblings of a few wild cards, but let's take the field as officially announced: Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and Tim Pawlenty. Add Mitt Romney in there because it is abundantly obvious he has been in this since at lease December of 2008 and you actually have a solid, relatively conservative field to pick from.
Republican angst over a bad slate mirrors the Democrat angst in 1991. But in 1991, the slate that was there went on in 1992 to pick the next President of the United States.
We have our nominee in this field. I can live with the field and I hope you can too.
Republicans, not just conservatives, are at risk of a self-fulfilling, self-defeating prophecy that the field sucks and cannot beat Obama. It's the economy, stupid. It always has been. It always will be. And America can do better than Barack Obama with any of the candidates we now have.
2. Mitch Daniels as Mario Cuomo
The parallels to 1991 continue unabated.
In 1991, Democrats and the media waited with ever increasing intensity for Mario Cuomo to get into the Presidential race. Eventually, Cuomo decided he was more comfortable being Governor of New York than facing an incumbent Republican President with a 90% approval rating.
Democrats and the media lamented the lack of a stellar, high profile Democratic candidate.
The Democrats went on to win without Mario Cuomo. The Republicans still have a strong shot without Mitch Daniels.
So who does this help now? Well, obviously it helps Mitt Romney. There will now be only one high profile gubernatorial wonk in the race. It also helps Newt Gingrich for the same reason, for people looking for someone perceived to be to the right of Romney.
But I think the guy it helps the most is Tim Pawlenty. He now has a clear shot at being the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney.
3. The Perils of the Pre-1967 Proposal
There seems to be some confusion over why the Israelis should be so hostile to President Obama's suggestion that the two-state solution be achieved by returning the Jewish state to its 1967 borders. The President's supporters argue that since these borders were previously acceptable to Israel, they should be acceptable now. After all, pre-1967 Israel fought to defend those borders and they were on the table in the 2000 peace talks. Can 45 years make that much of a difference?
It is true that 45 years is not so very long in terms of the territorial integrity of the United States. We might even prefer to return to the 1967 context in which our borders were much less challenging than they are today. But what Mr. Obama seems to fail to understand is that 45 years is a very long time for Israel. While the history of the Israeli people stretches back millennia, lsrael itself has only existed for 63 years. What the President is asking is that more than 70% of that history be erased, beginning with the reasons it was deemed necessary to annex the territories in 1967, and continuing on through the failed diplomatic initiatives, UN humiliations and relentless, deadly terrorist attacks of the past decades (including the last one, as Jeff Emanuel discussed yesterday). While some have considered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's terse response to this proposal disrespectful of the President, Mr. Netanyahu might have some very real concerns that once three-quarters of Israel's past has been eradicated, would it be all that outlandish to go all the way to pre-1948? Especially under the leadership of an American president who is asking the Israelis to make this concession on the dubious grounds that hope will overcome hate?
4. Israel, Palestine, and Obama: Is the President Already Walking Back his Demands on Israel?
As may have been expected, President Obama's decision yesterday to become the first American president to directly and overtly declare that Israel must withdraw to its 1949 borders was met with negative reactions both at home and abroad - particularly within the state of Israel, over 300,000 of whose residents currently live in the territories Obama demanded that the Jewish state cede to a future "state of Palestine."
The problem here, as I noted yesterday, is greater than the "simple" issue of creating 300,000 refugees in a new state that will not take kindly to their presence (to say the very least); it is one of Israel's overall security and ability to protect its people and defend itself against future attacks, which are currently mitigated by the presence of buffer zones and IDF personnel outside the lines within which Obama has declared Israel must recede.
5. Nation's First Unionized Pot Farm Goes Bust, Oakland Loses Bid to Be Cannabis Capital
Last year, prior to the defeat of California's Proposition 19, it appeared as though unions had a budding new industry in which they could grow their memberships.
First, the United Food & Commercial Workers jumped onto the cannabis bandwagon. Then, the Teamsters waded into the weed growing business when Jimmy Hoffa's union unionized 40 pot growers in Oakland, California.
6. The AFL-CIO's Richard Trumka Pledges a Constant Campaign of Class Warfare
The Leninist leader of today's labor movement, the AFL-CIO's Richard Trumka, is not happy with the progress of progressivism that the hundreds of millions of dollars his union members have forked over to buy the Democratic Party should have produced. So, he says, unions' aren't going to be in the business of party building anymore.

Ask which part of this simple statement by Thomas Jefferson the Obama administration finds so hard to understand: |
"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave the mother wise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government." |
Quote the wisdom of Al "I have a dream" Gore: |

NO. 9. He's unconstitutional. The bunch of crypto-Marxists, eco-Nazis, 9/11 Truthers, socialists, and radical agitators he has appointed as his "czars" are in clear violation of the Founding Fathers' principles. The czars have been granted the power of "principal officers" and ought therefore be subject to a confirmation vote by the Senate; or, if they are inferior officers, they should be answerable to Congress. The appointment of so many democratically unaccountable stooges represents a power grab that demonstrates Obama's utter contempt for the checks and balances that have preserved America from tyranny. |

Dear Patriots,
Some of you know a few groups from around PA went to Harrisburg two weeks ago and met with some of our State Representatives. One of the issues we heard is that they hear from the left and not enough from the conservative movement. Please take time to call your state reps regarding the issues below. They are voting on these this week, so we need everyone to make phone calls on Monday.
We need everyone to make 2 phone calls Monday, May 23rd, on 2 important votes this week. First to House Majority Leader Mike Turzi (717-772-9943)and second to your own State Representative. We need to support the representatives in Harrisburg and let them know we are paying attention to these important issues!!!
Representative William Adolf (R-Delaware) says the budget bill, HB 1485, will be scheduled for vote the week of May 23rd in the House. We are encouraging everyone in our organizations to call their state representatives and the House Majority leader and tell them to pass Corbett's budget of 27.3 billion and reject any amendments that would increase spending.
Representative Daryl Metcalfe's HB 934: the Pennsylvania Voter Identification Protection Act has been advanced by the House State Government Committee to the House floor for consideration. This bill would amend the state election code to require all voters to present valid photo ID before voting. This bill will prevent voter fraud such as: impersonation at the polls; fictitious registrations; double-voting; and voting by illegal aliens. Take note this bill is scheduled to be voted on Tuesday, May 24th.

Netanyahu tells Obama: Israel cannot go back to the 1967 borders
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington on Friday, holding a closed door session in the Oval Office after which each delivered statements to the press.
The two leaders' comments come a day after the U.S. president's Mideast policy speech called for negotiations for two-state solution based on 1967 lines.
Netanyahu reiterated his rejection of what he called 'indefensible borders', saying that in light of today's security and demographic reality, returning to 1967 borders is not feasible
This is a really good article. Read the rest of Netanyahu's comments:

Aljazeera Editorial: Obama's speech: Stuttering into the future?
The US president tried to explain the disconnect between vision and reality.
President Obama is known as an eloquent and even gifted orator. Yet in the two years since his Cairo speech the difference between rhetoric and vision on the one hand, and reality and "strategic interests" on the other, has become all to clear. So it's not surprising that few people had high hopes for his speech to the State Department today about US policy towards the Middle East and North Africa in the wake of the uprisings across the region. The tone and cadences of the President's speech left no doubt about the different world we inhabit today versus two years ago. If you watch the speech, his voice was louder and more melodic then, his language a bit more folksy and confident. Today it was much more reserved and humble; more of a commentator on events rather than a shaper of them. This despite the fact that the purpose of the speech was precisely to outline a new vision for America's role in the region's transitions. The President grounded his talk in recent history, recounting the story of the Tunisian fruit vendor Mohammad Bouazzizi who lit himself on fire to protest his humiliation and lack of chance to earn a decent living. This was clearly both to educate Americans who are coming late to the Arab revolutionary winter and spring and tell the Muslim world that he understands the "sparks" that reflect the frustration, humiliation and lack of dignity of the majority of the region's peoples. But recognising sparks and helping fuel the fire of real freedom are two very different things.

Good morning! Thank you, Rosy, for your very kind introduction. But even more, thank you for your many years friendship. Back in Chicago, when I was just getting started in national politics, I reached out to a lot of people for advice and counsel, and Rosy was one of the very first. When I made my first visit to Israel, after entering the Senate, Rosy - you were at my side every step of that very meaningful journey through the Holy Land. And I want to thank you for your enduring friendship, your leadership and for your warm welcome today.

In 1492, two events of great historical significance occurred.

I was out sick yesterday so I was unable to write today's column for the Jerusalem Post. I did manage to watch President Obama's speech on the Middle East yesterday evening. And I didn't want to wait until next week to discuss it. After all, who knows what he'll do by Tuesday?
Before we get into what the speech means for Israel, it is important to consider what it means for America.
Quite simply, Obama's speech represents the effective renunciation of the US's right to have and to pursue national interests. Consequently, his speech imperils the real interests that the US has in the region - first and foremost, the US's interest in securing its national security. Obama's renunciation of the US national interests unfolded as follows:
First, Obama mentioned a number of core US interests in the region. In his view these are: "Countering terrorism and stopping the spread of nuclear weapons; securing...

Dershowitz argues that Obama made a mistake when he failed to demand the abandonment of the so called right of return. Or was it that he called for borders similar to the '67 lines subject only to land swaps, whereas as he notes, it undercuts Resolution 242. Dershowitz advises that "It also contemplated that Israel would hold onto the Western Wall, the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem and the access roads to Hebrew University, without the need for any land swaps". What? No where in 242 does it say anything remotely close to that. It is silent on Jerusalem and silent on the need for swaps. It does call for a "just settlement of the refugee issue" and the set up of "demilitarized zones". An unbelieveable error on his part. It also called for "termination of all claims and states of belligerency". On this both Obama and Dershowitz were silent. Furthermore it is understood that by "refugees" the resolution was referring to both...

ZOA Condemns Obama Call For A Hamas/Fatah Terror State Based On Indefensible '67 Lines
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), the oldest pro-Israel organization in the United States, strongly condemned President Obama's Mideast speech given today promoting and supporting the establishment of a Hamas/Fatah/Iran terrorist state on the Auschwitz 1967 indefensible armistice lines. This state would almost surely become a Hamas/Iran terror state threatening Israel and further destabilizing the Mideast. President Obama has dealt Israel a severe diplomatic blow, which harms all those who care about peace and fighting terrorism.
President Obama is either extraordinarily naďve or extraordinarily hostile to the Jewish state of Israel, despite his claims of commitment to Israel's security. One cannot claim to care about a neighbor's young children while renting out rooms to child predators.

This was the sort of split-the-difference address that the president is now famous for - long on Icarus-like soaring phraseology, very short on down-to-earth realities.
The first third of the president's speech was a good summary of prior (dare we say it?) neoconservative analyses: Middle East autocracies blame Israel and the U.S., and often manipulate terrorism as a way to divert attention from their own failures to provide freedom and economic security to their people. Evidently, they are unwilling to address their societies' endemic cultural, economic, and social problems: tribalism, religious intolerance, gender apartheid, statism, authoritarian government, and on and on. Yesterday, that was a neocon fantasy of Wolfowitz, Perle, and Bush; today, it is apparently part of a landmark new diplomacy. And yet, in this comprehensive speech on the Middle East, the word "Islam" was never mentioned.
Then, in the second third of his speech, Obama...

What Does Obama Gain by Snubbing Israel?
Friday, 20 May 2011 09:28 AM
By Lowell Ponte
American politics underwent a tectonic shift this week, a change that apparently reflects a huge shift in political money and global power.
Breaking with more than half a century of bipartisan U.S. policy on the Middle East, President Barack Obama appeared to turn against our longtime ally Israel.
He called for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to be based on Israel retreating to its pre-1967 borders, a boundary to be altered only by "a few swaps" of land between the parties.
To those of us who have stood near the old Syrian cannon emplacements on the Golan Heights looking down on the Galilee and Tiberius, or who have landed at Israel's international airport within 3 miles of the pre-1967 border, or who understand that this would produce an indefensible Israel only 8 miles wide at its narrowest point, Obama's proposal seems bizarre.

BREAKING NEWS!
After a White House meeting that ran nearly two hours longer than planned, President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made joint statements just a few hours ago from the Oval Office. Obama went first, looking uncomfortable and sounding as if he was in "damage control" mode. Prime Minister Netanyahu responded and, quite frankly, looked and sounded presidential. He directly rejected Obama's demands.
He reminded Obama that a peace based on an illusion would crash on the rocks of Middle Eastern reality. He directly rejected Obama's call for Israel to return to the 1967 lines. "Israel cannot go back...because the lines are indefensible," Netanyahu said. He told Obama that Israel will not negotiate with a Palestinian government headed by Hamas and reminded Obama that Hamas condemned the killing of Osama bin Laden.
On the question of Palestinian refugees, Netanyahu pointedly told Obama that the refugee issue will not be settled within the land of Israel. In other words, Israel will not agree to demographic suicide. "That's not going to happen," he told Obama.
In closing, Prime Minister Netanyahu reminded Obama of the history of Israel and the Jewish people. (He was wise to do so since the president's knowledge of history sometimes appears to go no further than the day of his own election.) He told Obama that through all the dark times, including the Holocaust, the Jewish people never lost "our dream" of reestablishing a state in their ancient homeland.
He told Obama, "We don't have a margin of error." Translation: You won't push us into concessions with our enemies that could jeopardize our very existence.
This was an amazing moment. Of the two men sitting next to each other in the Oval Office today, only one understands the dangerous world we live in, and knows that weakness emboldens evil and makes war and defeat more likely. That man is not the president of the United States.
Obama Speech Generates Growing Backlash
The outrage is growing as analysts in Washington, D.C., and Jerusalem continue to pour over every word of Obama's speech on the Middle East. Obama reneged on a key pledge made by the United States to Israel in 2004. As a result, he has undermined the value of our word in international relations with potentially terrible consequences for the future. He has demoralized the Israeli people and emboldened our mutual enemies.
In a 2004 letter, President George Bush outlined the U.S. position. Noting that large Israeli communities exist beyond the 1967 boundaries, Bush wrote, "...it is unrealistic to expect that the outcome" of peace talks would be a complete return to previous armistice lines. His letter was an attempt to reassure Israel that we would not pressure it to return to borders that are virtually impossible to defend.
Bush's letter was endorsed by a bi-partisan resolution in the House of Representatives by a vote of 407-9. (Only one Republican voted "No" on this reasonable position -- Rep. Ron Paul.)
One day later the resolution passed the Senate 95-3. One of those 95 "Yes" votes was then-Senator Hillary Clinton. Because of this presidential commitment, then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was willing to take the risk of forcing 9,000 Israelis living in Gaza to leave their homes. Gaza promptly fell under the control of Hamas.
Obama's speech essentially ripped up the commitment made by Bush and Congress. It puts in jeopardy over 350,000 Israelis who live in well-established communities on the "wrong" side of the border to which Obama now demands Israel retreat.
The "Obama border" would shrink Israel to a width of 8 miles in some areas. In Israel such a border is referred to as the "Auschwitz" border because it would increase the chances that the country would be overrun by its enemies, resulting in a second Holocaust.
After Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu heard the speech yesterday, he was described as livid. He should be. His office issued a statement saying that in his meeting with Obama today, the prime minister expected "to hear a reaffirmation from President Obama of U.S. commitments made to Israel in 2004." But at this point what is a commitment from Obama worth? Next to nothing!
Last week thousands of Palestinian extremists threw themselves against the borders of Israel from all sides attempting to drown the tiny nation with a tidal wave of people dedicated to its destruction. Yesterday, Obama joined that mob attempting to erase the legitimate borders of our staunch ally.
If Obama succeeds, the most holy sites of Judaism and Christianity would be in the blood-soaked hands of Hamas, Hezbollah and the allies of Syria and Iran. Every pastor and rabbi should speak up and rally their congregations against this betrayal. Congress should immediately reaffirm the 2004 resolutions.
Working Now To Defeat Obama
I spent all day yesterday in a meeting with top conservative leaders. I can't divulge the details because the meeting was confidential. But I do want to share an opinion voiced by a number of analysts. 2012 is going to be what they refer to as a base election.
Obama's reelection strategy will depend on turning out massive numbers of liberal voters, just as he did in 2008. Who are they? College students, minorities, low-income single women and union members. Obama's campaign knows it has a problem with independent voters. So the best shot he has at winning is to recreate the formula that elected him last time.
What does this mean for conservatives? While we must win more independent voters, we must also make sure we are doing everything possible to get every last like-minded person we have influence over registered to vote. If Obama is working to turnout liberal voters, we must be working hard to identify, register and turnout conservative voters.
Now, let me give you some good news. There are growing signs of "Obama fatigue" among his core liberal constituencies. For example, a survey of 500 recent college graduates found that 83% of them voted for Obama in 2008. But only 27% "are committed to voting for Obama again, and 80% said they would consider voting for a Republican."
They got swept up in the hype about hope and change, but now many of them are unemployed. The stimulus bill was a colossal waste of money that saved government jobs, but cost hundreds of thousands of private sector jobs. Gas prices are soaring, and all Obama and his allies are promising to do about it is raise taxes.
I want to encourage you again, as I did earlier in the week, to find just one voter who you can persuade to support the Republican candidate in 2012. For many of you, it is very likely a child or grandchild in college or a recent graduate, who is probably very frustrated with the job market right now. Don't give up on them!
GOP Senators Filibuster Obama Radical
Yesterday Senate Republicans (minus Alaska's Lisa Murkowski) successfully filibustered the nomination of Professor Goodwin Liu, President Obama's appointee to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. I'm glad Senate Republicans stopped him.
Liu was perhaps the most radical nominee for the federal bench I have seen in many years. Given Liu's support of racial quotas, homosexual "marriage," reparations for slavery, constitutional welfare rights and the use of international law to undermine the Constitution, he is on the fringes of the extreme left. You can learn more about his record here.
To give you some idea of just how radical Liu is, consider this: Five members of the "Gang of 14," including one Democrat, voted to filibuster Liu! You may recall that the "Gang of 14" was the group of senators who negotiated a deal to break the stalemate on judicial filibusters in 2005.
Obama's Lawless Administration
Barack Obama's disastrous foreign policy is increasingly running afoul of U.S. law. As we recently reported, current U.S. law prohibits American foreign aid from going to the Palestinian Authority if Hamas or other terrorist groups are part of the government there.
President Obama admitted in his speech yesterday that Hamas and the Palestinian Authority have now merged. But there is no indication yet that the Administration is going to comply with the law and stop sending your tax dollars to the newly-formed Palestinian/Hamas coalition.
Here's another example. During the 2008 campaign, Obama repeatedly promised to end Bush's "war of choice," referring to Iraq. But now, he's launched his own "war of choice" in Libya. And unlike George W. Bush, Obama does not have congressional approval for his "kinetic military action." Today, Obama hits the 60-day limit under the War Powers Act that allows the president to conduct military operations without Congress' support.
Five Republican senators sent Obama a letter asking if he intends to "comply with the requirements of the War Powers Resolution." Surely the White House knew this day was coming, but evidently Obama has not yet asked Congress for a vote! Perhaps that is because Obama fears he might lose the vote. One member of the House said that Obama is trying to "bring democracy to Libya while shredding the Constitution of the United States." And that was California Democrat Brad Sherman!
My friends, I've said it before and I will say again: The GOP nominee, whoever it is, won't be perfect. But our most important goal is getting Obama and his socialist gang out of the White House!

Hi folks,
For anyone who might have slept through the evening news last night, President Obama gave a speech yesterday on the Middle East which was a foreign relations disaster. In it, he had the audacity to effectively put the leaders of Israel in the same bin as Muammar Gaddafi and Bashir Assad.
In addition, he announced that the United States will give $2 billion in economic stimulus money to North African nations and hand Egypt a billion-dollar gift in the form of debt forgiveness, which is likely to become controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood in the wake of upcoming elections. As if we didn't have overwhelming debt problems already! Sheer lunacy.
And now the chips begin to fall...

Obama, Netanyahu face turning point
Mistrustful of each other, U.S. and Israeli leaders meet amid a deadlocked Mideast peace process
Jason Reed / Reuters file
President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, seen here at the White House on Sept. 1, 2010, have had their share of differences.
By HELENE COOPER
The New York Times
updated 5/19/2011
WASHINGTON - As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel heads to the White House on Friday for the seventh meeting since President Obama took office, the two men are facing a turning point in a relationship that has never been warm.
By all accounts, they do not trust each other. President Obamahas told aides and allies that he does not believe that Mr. Netanyahu will ever be willing to make the kind of big concessions that will lead to a peace deal.
For his part, Mr. Netanyahu has complained that Mr. Obama has pushed Israel too far - a point driven home during a furious phone call with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Thursday morning, just hours before Mr. Obama's speech, during which the prime minister reacted angrily to the president's plan to endorse Israel's pre-1967 borders for a future Palestinian state.
Mr. Obama did not back down. But the last-minute furor highlights the discord as they head into what one Israeli official described as a "train wreck" coming their way: a United Nations General Assembly vote on Palestinian statehood in September.

***Action Alert*** The Tennessean Newspaper Is "Feeling the Heat" By Kelly Cook, National Field Director
Apparently, the thousands of calls our members from across America have made this week (regarding the recent release of the documentary video produced by Americans for Peace and Tolerance) to the Tennessean Newspaper have struck a raw nerve.
Click Here for the paper's editorial released yesterday in an effort that can only be described as a bizarre attempt to "double down" in order to assert they are right regardless of the facts involved.
For example, in the paper's editorial they make the following statement regarding Awadh Binhazim, (Vanderbilt University's Adjunct Muslim Chaplain),"For Binhazim to explain to his listeners that many Muslims worldwide are draw (sic) to Shariah law is not to say he endorses Shariah law."
It's clear they're giving Binhazim a major pass here. Such a statement insults the intelligence of not only Tennesseans, but all Americans who are learning more and more about the dangers of Sharia Law and many who follow it.
Now compare the Tennessean's position to Binhazim's actual dialog with a questioner at Vanderbilt University as captured in the documentary video:
Question: "Under Islamic Law, is it punishable by death if you're a homosexual?"
Binhazim: "Yes. It is punishable by death."
Question: "As a practicing Muslim, do you accept or reject this particular teaching of Islam?"
Binhazim: "Well, the question of accepting and rejecting teachings of Islam really I don't have a choice as a Muslim to accept or reject teachings. I go with what Islam teaches."
Only in America! Any other group openly espousing the death of homosexuals would be summarily run out on a rail at Vanderbilt University! And yet Binhazim is still there spreading his hatred while Vanderbilt and the Tennessean faithfully stand by his side. This is clearly not acceptable.
We have a very simple request for the local paper in Nashville: Post the link to the documentary video!!
Or do they fear that by doing so, the public will be able to cut through the Tennessean's rhetoric and make up their own minds? So far, the answer has been yes.
Click Here to view this fully documented video for yourself.
Why would the Tennessean go to such great lengths to demonize the facts in this documentary video?
Could it be that it simply doesn't "fit their narrative"?
***ACTION ITEM***
The Tennessean seems to be on the verge of desperation. The level of vitriol and misinformation in their editorial yesterday reached significant heights even by the Tennessean's standards. They have been exposed spreading falsehoods and instead of coming clean, they are doubling down.
ACT! for America intends to hold the Tennessean newspaper accountable. Will you help us?
Please call and email the Publisher's office of the Tennessean:
Carol Hudler, Publisher
Email: chudler@tennessean.com
Phone: 615-259-8303
Politely ask her to simply post the link for the documentary video in question and let the public decide for themselves where the truth lies.
Tell her the public really can handle the truth, if they see all of the evidence!
Let the Tennessean know you intend to carefully watch their actions on this important debate. Your call and email will make a difference. Newspapers rarely get this kind of scrutiny, so their reactions can sometimes be beyond interesting. Please be respectful.

New Study Reveals Significant
Levels of Support for Sharia
Law in U.S. Courts!
Political and media elites keep telling us there's no threat of sharia here in the U.S. This study proves they're wrong.
As the release below shows, it's Muslims-usually women and children-being victimized by sharia law!!
So here's the ultimate irony. Organizations like ACT for America are frequently the target of dishonest name-calling such as "Islamophobic."
But while the so-called "champions" of tolerance look the other way as sharia is foisted on these unwilling Muslim women and children, we are fighting to protect non-Muslim and Muslim alike from the tyranny of sharia law.

New Study Finds Shariah Law Involved in Court Cases in 23 States
Washington, DC, May 17, 2011 - The Center for Security Policy today released an in-depth study-- Shariah Law and American State Courts: An Assessment of State Appellate Court Cases. The study evaluates 50 appellate court cases from 23 states that involve conflicts between Shariah (Islamic law) and American state law. The analysis finds that Shariah has been applied or formally recognized in state court decisions, in conflict with the Constitution and state public policy.
Some commentators have tried to minimize this problem, claiming, as an editorial in yesterday's Los Angeles Times put it that, "...There is scant evidence that American judges are resolving cases on the basis of shariah." To the contrary, our study identified 50 significant cases just from the small sample of appellate court published cases.
Others have asserted with certainty that state court judges will always reject any foreign law, including Shariah law, when it conflicts with the Constitution or state public policy. The Center's analysis, however, found 15 trial court cases, and 12 appellate court cases, where Shariah was found to be applicable in these particular cases.
The facts are the facts: some judges are making decisions deferring to Shariah law even when those decisions conflict with constitutional protections.
On the releasing the study, the Center for Security Policy's President, Frank J. Gaffney, Jr., observed:
"These cases are the stories of Muslim American families, mostly Muslim women and children, who were asking American courts to preserve their rights to equal protection and due process. These families came to America for freedom from the discriminatory and cruel laws of Shariah. When our courts then apply Shariah law in the lives of these families, and deny them equal protection, they are betraying the principles on which America was founded."
Key Findings:
- At the trial court level, 22 decisions were found that refused to apply Shariah; 15 were found to have utilized or recognized Shariah; 9 were indeterminate; and in 4 cases Shariah was not applicable to the decision at this level, but was applicable at the appellate level.
- At the appellate Court level: 23 decisions were found that refused to apply Shariah; 12 were found to have utilized or recognized Shariah; 8 were indeterminate; and in 7 cases Shariah was not applicable to the decision, but had been applicable at the trial court level.
- The 50 cases were classified into seven distinct "Categories" of dispute: 21 cases dealt with "Shariah Marriage Law"; 17 cases involved "Child Custody"; 5 dealt with "Shariah Contract Law"; 3 dealt with general "Shariah Doctrine"; 2 were concerned with "Shariah Property Law"; 1 dealt with "Due Process/Equal Protection" and 1 dealt with the combined "Shariah Marriage Law/Child Custody."
- The 50 cases were based in 23 different states: 6 cases were found in New Jersey; 5 in California; 4 each in Florida, Massachusetts and Washington; 3 each in Maryland, Texas and Virginia; 2 each in Louisiana and Nebraska; and 1 each in Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio and South Carolina.
|
Shariah Law and American State Courts: An Assessment of State Appellate Court Cases includes summaries of a sample of twenty cases, as well as the full published texts for all fifty cases.
Mr. Gaffney added:
"This study represents a timely contribution to the debate developing around the country: To what extent is the Islamic politico-military-legal doctrine of Shariah being insinuated into the United States? The analysis complements and powerfully reinforces the warnings contained in the Center's bestselling 2010 "Team B II" Report, Shariah: The Threat to America. It confirms that Shariah's adherents are making a concerted effort to bring their anti-constitutional code to this country.
"Together with follow-on analyses now in preparation, we hope to equip those who share the Center's commitment to the Constitution of the United States, to the liberties it guarantees and to the democratic government it mandates to thwart those like the Muslim Brotherhood who would supplant freedom with Shariah law. Clearly, we must work to keep America Shariah-free, or risk inexorably losing the country we love."
The full text of the study, including text from the court cases and tables displaying the findings, can be found at www.ShariahInAmericanCourts.com

To The Hilt: How Deep Will Obama's Knife Go In Israel's Back?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's heart to heart with President Obama was not able to chip away at a man with ice in his veins. Netanyahu made it vividly clear that Israel's existence can not come at the expense of a Palestinian state. In 2008 Obama gave a speech at AIPAC (The American Israel Public Affairs Committee) where he said, "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided."
But President Obama's radical policy suggestion that "Israel return to 1967 borders" makes Jerusalem a nine mile city. Right now Jerusalem is a forty eight mile city. It also takes away key strategic territories from Israel and makes it much easier for the enemies that surround them on all sides to breach their borders. Obama may not be a radical Islamist on paper but he is making a grave mistake choosing the interests of states that are sponsored by terrorism over the interests of Israel. That being said, he might as well be a radical Islamist.
And to make things worse for Israel:

More on REWARDING GOOD FOR EVIL: 16 Important Facts About Jews, Arabs and Israel ...
- Israel became a state circa 1030 B.C., more than two millennia before Islam.
- Arabs from Israel first began to be called "Palestinians" in 1967 by Yasser Arafat and other Arab leaders, two decades after modern Israeli statehood.
- After conquering the land in about 1250 B.C., Jews ruled it for more than 1,300 years and have maintained a continuous presence there for 3,300 years.
- For over 3,000 years, Jerusalem was the Jewish capital. It was never the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even under Jordanian rule, (East) Jerusalem was not made the capital, and no Arab leader came to visit it.
- Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in the Bible, but not once is it mentioned in the Qur'an.
- King David founded Jerusalem; Mohammed never set foot in it.
- Jews pray facing Jerusalem; Muslims face Mecca. If they are between the two cities, Muslims pray facing Mecca, with their backs to Jerusalem.
- In 1948, Arab leaders urged their people to leave, promising to cleanse the land of Jewish presence-some 70% of them fled without ever being ordered by Israel to leave, most of those without ever having seen an Israeli soldier.
- Virtually the entire Jewish population of Muslim countries had to flee as the result of violence and pogroms.
- Some 650,000 Arabs left Israel in 1948, while about 850,000 Jews were forced to leave Muslim countries.
- In spite of the vast territories at their disposal, Arab refugees from Palestine were deliberately prevented from assimilating into their host countries. Of 100 million refugees following World War II, they are the only group to have never integrated with their coreligionists. Most of the Jewish refugees from Europe and Arab lands were settled in Israel, a country no larger than New Jersey.
- There are 22 Arab countries (with 800 times the land mass of Israel), not counting the Palestinian territories. There is only one Jewish state. Arabs started all five wars against Israel, and lost every one of them.
- The Fatah and Hamas constitutions still call for the destruction of Israel. Israel has agreed under several proposals to cede most of the West Bank and all of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority, and even supported the arming of its police force after the Oslo Accords in 1993.
- During the Jordanian occupation, Jewish holy sites were vandalized and were off limits to Jews. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian holy sites are accessible to all faiths and maintained in good order at Israel's expense.
- Out of 175 United Nations Security Council resolutions up to 1990, 97 were against Israel; out of 690 General Assembly resolutions, 429 were against Israel;
- The U.N. was silent when the Jordanians destroyed 58 synagogues in the old city of Jerusalem. It remained silent while Jordan systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives, and it remained silent when Jordan enforced apartheid laws preventing Jews from accessing the Temple Mount and Western Wall (Kotel).

Standing Strong with Israel
When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits President Barack Obama at the White House today for three hours of meetings, he will likely ask the President a very important question: Do you stand by the long-standing U.S. commitments to Israel's future as a Jewish state?
He's right to ask the question. In a speech yesterday on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East following the "Arab Spring" uprisings, President Obama broached the subject of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Notably, he stated that, as part of finding peace between Israel and Palestine, the two parties should return to their 1967 borders. The Heritage Foundation's James Phillips explains that the President's proposal is a "misreading of the past" and an "underestimation of the terrorist threat" that Israel faces:

Grassfire Nation Update Patriot,
President Obama removed all doubt where he stands on Israel following a State Department speech in which he called for Israel to retreat to its 1967 borders as the starting point for peace negotiations with Palestine.
Such a reckless statement would leave Israel indefensible, and as presidential hopeful Mitt Romney says, "will undermine its ability to negotiate peace."
Obama's betrayal of Israel puts the tiny nation at an even more precarious position, and cannot be tolerated by the American people.
That's why Grassfire Nation has launched our "I Stand With Israel" petition -- giving grassroots Americans a platform with which to demand the President reaffirm America's clear and unquestioned support of Israel.

"Israel is Facing its 'Most Dangerous and Critical Period' EverNewsmax:
Democratic senior statesman Ed Koch says Israel is facing its "most dangerous and critical period" and he is ready to break with his party in the next presidential election over President Obama's policies on the Middle East. In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, the former New York City mayor said, "Mitt Romney correctly summed it up when he said that President Obama has once again thrown Israel under the bus. "I believe this is the most dangerous and critical period that Israel has ever faced and regrettably it does not have the support of the President of the United States, which in past difficult situations it could count on." Koch, who crossed party lines to support President George W. Bush against John Kerry in 2004 due to his foreign policy stance, said he would do it again. All it would take is the right candidate. "I'm a Democrat. I support the Democratic domestic philosophy and policies and will always be supportive of them," said Koch, mayor of America's largest city from 1978-89. "But I have no hesitation in crossing party lines when I think America's interests demand that I cross party lines. "I supported President Obama, believing he would be good on foreign policy, particularly with respect to the support of Israel. It turned out badly."

Hi folks,
Our nation's Constitutional Scholar is has just violated the War Powers Act of 1973, as the article below describes. This is a flagrant violation of a law enacted to limit the powers of the President in the wake of the Vietnam War disaster. Please contact your Representative and Senator to tell them your opposition to President Obama's disregard for the will of the people regarding the war he helped launch against Libya. This is not a matter of being in favor or opposed to the war in Libya; this is about respecting American law and gaining the consent of those elected to represent the will of the People.
Below is the letter I wrote, which you may want to modify because the authorization date has now expired.
President Obama is about to violate the War Powers act regarding U.S. action in Libya. Please stand up for the preservation of Congress's power to authorize or not authorize U.S. foreign military action by demanding that the President either gets Congress's approval for warfare against Libya or ends U.S. military action in Libya within 30 days of today (Friday, May 21, 2011).
Thank you!

Is Obama about to break the law?
By Dana Bash, Senior Congressional Correspondent
May 20, 2011
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
ˇ According to the War Powers Act, Congress must approve military action within 60 days
ˇ President Obama launched the latest Libya action two months ago
ˇ The administration is considering options while few in Congress make it a big deal
Washington (CNN) -- President Obama may be on the brink of breaking the law.
At issue: The 1973 War Powers Act, which says if the president does not get congressional authorization 60 days after military action, the mission must stop within 30 days.
The president formally notified Congress about the mission in Libya with a letter on March 21, which makes Friday the 60-day deadline.
Inaction is angering lawmakers from both the left and the right who rarely agree on anything.
Rep. Brad Sherman, D-California, tells CNN he believes Obama is trying to "bring democracy to Libya while shredding the Constitution of the United States."

On 17 May while patrolling near the Afghanistan/Pakistan border two NATO helicopters were fired upon by Pakistani troops. The border post assumed the helicopters were Americans violating Pakistan airspace. The NATO helicopters returned fire injuring two Pakistani soldiers. With allies like this who needs enemies?
The resulting engagement has further angered the Pakistanis adding to their anger from the killing of bin Laden on Pakistani soil. Most likely the anger resulting from the embarrassment of having the world's most dangerous terrorist hanging out in their country without their knowledge, if indeed that was the case.

Holder Files Murder Charges to Provide Cover for Obama Regime

By Doug Book, staff writer
In December of last year, Border Agent Brian Terry was killed by Mexican gang members in an Arizona border shootout. Two of the weapons recovered from the scene had been part of the ATF's "Project Gunrunner", a plot whereby thousands of firearms were deliberately sold to known straw purchasers for Mexican drug cartels, then assisted across the border by the U.S. Justice Department's ATF itself.
On May 4th, Obama Regime Attorney General Eric Holder sat before the House Judiciary Committee, evading California Representative Darrell Issa's questions about the Justice Department's involvement in ATF's ultimately deadly Gunrunner scheme.
ISSA: "How about the head of the Criminal Division, Lanny Breuer, Did he authorize it?"
HOLDER: "I'm not sure whether Mr. Breuer authorized it. You have to understand the way in which the Department operates. Although there are operations, this one has become-has gotten a great deal of publicity."

Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act request for costs of her use of our USAF as her personal taxi, and the results of their investigation just boggle our minds and rape our pocketbooks! "According to the documents, the Speaker's military travel cost the United States Air Force $2,100,744.59 over a two-year period-$101,429.14 of which was for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol." One CODEL (Congressional Delegation) started out in D.C., stopped down in Tel Aviv, Israel, and then flew on to Baghdad, Iraq on 5-15-2008, for a five day mission "to discuss matters of mutual concern with government leaders and their spouses and cost $17, 931 per hour in aircraft alone." Note: The FOIA reveals that on a 2007 stop in Israel, "CODEL could only bring ... Ron Paul's amnesty with an asterisk
(World Net Daily 5/14/2011) By Tom Tancredo
On Thursday, Ron Paul announced he would form an exploratory committee for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. This is about as unexpected as spring snow melt.
I served with Ron Paul in Congress for 10 years. He was a member of my Immigration Reform Caucus, and I consider him a friend. We didn't see eye to eye on every issue, but he was generally an ally in the fight against illegal immigration. Unfortunately, it appears that Paul's views on immigration have now shifted into the pro-amnesty camp. Link to Full Article
Amnesty is good for the economy?
(World Net Daily 5/7/2011) By Tom Tancredo
A week or so ago, President Obama held a highly publicized White House "dialogue" about immigration. Its real purpose was to find a new strategy for amnesty legislation, which is to say, it was about his 2012 election campaign.
The "new strategy" is in truth a repackaging of the old strategy, but you would not know that from the news commentaries following the event. The participants in the White House meeting were the usual suspects - businesses that employ illegal aliens, sanctuary-city mayors from San Antonio and Atlanta, open-borders activists from the National Council of La Raza, a sprinkling of academics, Hollywood stars and a token number of Republicans. WikiLeaks doc: 'North American Initiative' no 'theory' |
A document posted online by WikiLeaks reveals that there were strategy discussions regarding the adoption of a "North American Union" - called the North American Initiative in this case - at the ambassadorial level in the United States government. |

Muslims to Christians: 'We're coming for you' |
That's the message Christians in the Ivory Coast got from Muslims during a long-fought dispute over the nation's presidency, an election late last year apparently won by a Christian candidate when the government found voter fraud in Muslim regions. But that result was overturned following intervention by the United Nations and the United States, who insisted that the Muslim candidate be given the office.
Which puts Muslims now in "control."

Richard Trumka to put Democrats on notice

The AFL-CIO president will speak at the National Press Club on Friday. | John Shinkle/POLITICO
AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka will use a lunchtime speech at the National Press Club on Friday to push back against the "destructive" austerity narrative driving Washington and urge lawmakers to create jobs, protect pensions and provide health care for everyone.
"We'll only win investments in our future if we again embrace the idea that we are one national community," Trumka will say, according to advance excerpts of the speech provided to POLITICO. "That our very identity is bound up with the promise that all of us have a voice-in the workplace, at the ballot box-and that we are responsible in a deep sense for each other. The fabric of our government, our democratic republic, is about making that responsibility for each other real."

Education College Students Sign Petition to 'Ban' Rush, Beck From Radio - But Love Free Speech

Oliver Darcy is doing his part to expose liberal ideas and hypocrisy on college campuses. Last month he produced two videos showing students willing to redistribute wealth but not grades and also refusing to pay their share of the national debt. Now he (along with his colleagues Michael Fincher and Maurice Lewis) is back, and this time he's showing how college students who say they support free speech are willing to sign a petition to "ban" Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and other conservatives from the airwaves.
In the video, the students are not only willing to sign the petition, but some even offer their thoughts on Beck and those like him.

Earlier this week, I spoke with members of the media in Charleston, South Carolina, where the Obama National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) wants to shut down Boeing's Dreamliner production line.
The NLRB issued a complaint against Boeing for creating over 1000 jobs in Right to Work South Carolina rather than Washington, where International Association of Machinists union bosses can force workers into dues-paying ranks.
WSCS Live 5 News highlighted the Foundation's free legal aid program and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request against the NLRB:
| Right to Work Offers Free Legal Assistance to South Carolina Boeing Employees |
A hearing before an administrative law judge is scheduled for June 14 in Seattle.
We'll keep you updated on all the latest developments in this critical battle to protect American jobs and our free enterprise system.
Sincerely,
 Mark Mix
P.S. The Foundation relies completely on voluntary contributions from its supporters to provide free legal aid.
Please chip in with a tax-deductible contribution of $10 or more today to enable the Foundation to support the Foundation's programs.

Dear Patriot,
On Thursday, Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell collaborated with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in a backroom pact to extend the so-called "Patriot" Act - with as little debate as possible - for 4 years before some of the most liberty-savaging components expire on Friday, May 27.
The surveillance state's ability to snoop through your business records, pry into your library book checkouts, monitor so-called "lone wolfs," and spy on your personal communications through roving wiretaps will be extended until 2015, which "coincidentally" is not an election year.
So much for all that lofty rhetoric last fall about adhering to the Constitution.
By taking a chainsaw to the Fourth Amendment, they have pledged their allegiance to the Surveillance State.
Even more galling, a cloture vote is scheduled for 5PM Monday, because they believed Senator Rand Paul would be out of town, and they would have a free hand to slip extending the government's domestic spying capabilities through without anyone noticing.
And that has always been the plan from the get-go.
Going back to the original passage of the Patriot Act in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy, leaders in both parties have always schemed to squash debate and muffle dissent.
You and I cannot permit that to happen this time.
Click here to contact your representative and senators by phone and email to give them an earful and jam up their inboxes about how they must not sacrifice our liberty for the illusion of security.
After you contact your representative and senators, please also call or email Speaker Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
Inform them that you elected a Republican majority to protect the Constitution, and not to use it as a doormat so the jackboots at the national security state can wipe their feet all over it.
The speed with which the vote to extend the so-called "Patriot" Act was scheduled is a sign that the statists are worried that the longer this skunk sits out in the open, the more people are going to realize it stinks to high heaven.
They want this over and done with before fence sitters in both houses can be bombarded by phone calls and emails from liberty-minded Americans demanding they respect the Constitution and rollback the so-called "PATRIOT" Act.
So please, contact your representative and senators to show them that the American people are not willing to bargain away their essential liberty for the "comfort" of imagined security.
In Liberty,
 John Tate President

Gov. Rick Perry Frightens the GOP Establishment By Floyd and Mary Beth Brown, FloydReports.com
|
Rush Limbaugh is starting a movement, a movement to draft Texas Governor Rick Perry for President. Here's what Rush said this week on this radio program:
There's no way you're gonna hear Rick Perry supporting amnesty in any way, shape, manner, or form. He's solid on that, plus pro-life. Rick Perry stands in opposition to inside the Beltway Washington elites, I don't care what party they are.
Since Mike Huckabee bowed out of the presidential race this week, conservatives are now in a mad search to find a non-Washington establishment candidate to lead the campaign against politics-as-usual in D.C. The pickings are slim.... |

A very large proportion of recent university graduates have soured on President Barack Obama, and many will vote GOP or stay at home in the 2012 election, according to two new surveys of younger voters.
"These rock-solid Obama constituents are free-agents," said Kellyanne Conway, president of The Polling Company, based in Washington, D.C. She recently completed a large survey of college grads, and "they're shopping around, considering their options, [and] a fair number will stay at home and sit it out," she said.
The scope of this disengagement from Obama is suggested by an informal survey of 500 post-grads by Joe Maddalone, founder of Maddalone Global Strategies. Of his sample, 93 percent are aged between 22 and 28, 67 percent are male and 83 percent voted for Obama in 2008. But only 27 percent are committed to voting for Obama again, and 80 percent said they would consider voting for a Republican, said New York-based Maddalone.
That's a drop of almost 60 points in support for Obama among this influential class of younger post-grad voters, who Maddalone recruited at conferences held at New York University and Thomson-Reuters' New York headquarters. http://dailycaller.com/2011/05/20/recent-college-grads-sour-on-obama-surveys-say/#ixzz1N2sPsj3d

 | When we launched YouCut over a year ago, we could never have imagined the extent of the public's enthusiasm for the effort - millions of votes have been cast, from all over the country, to drive support for the House's efforts to cut spending.
The YouCut program aims to do more than communicate what the House is doing; it is our goal to modernize the way the House operates, by finding new ways to substantively include you in the legislative process.
Towards that goal, we are now beginning YouCut: Phase II - each week, you will still vote on three spending cuts, but the program has been expanded to include the entire legislative process. You will now be able to track and participate, as your legislation is introduced, moves through committees, and is brought to the House floor.
Over the upcoming weeks, several new features will be launched on the website, so be sure to stay tuned for updates and further announcements.
For now, the next three items have been posted on the YouCut website, click here to cast your vote on which legislation we should include in the YouCut program.
Regards,
Rep. Eric Cantor Majority Leader |

Glenn emotionally reveals specific Restoring Courage site, date
Three powerful events have been scheduled inside the walls of Old Jerusalem. With the world turning up the heat once again on Israel, there is no more important time to stand with our longtime friends. Glenn emotionally announces and describes the three big events scheduled in Jerusalem beginning August 21st and culminating with the August 24th Restoring Courage event. The location will be at the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount at the excavation site - see pictures of the site and get ticket information HERE. Watch Glenn's announcement from radio HERE.
Obama slaps Israel in the face
During his big Middle East speech yesterday, Barack Obama dropped a bombshell that took even the government of Israel by surprise. He announced not only a two-state solution, but that the borders must revert to the 1967 lines - something Israel will certainly never, ever do. Glenn plays a little from yesterday's speech and gives more analysis on why Obama is choosing to take this stance against Israel - especially with the Israeli Prime Minister scheduled to visit. WATCH.
Obama's 2008 empty promise to Israel: Jerusalem will never be divided. Oops, looks like he kinda spaced that one yesterday. WATCH.
Spying or Divine Providence?
Glenn has been talking about the set up of Israel for months. He created and scheduled an event to support Israel weeks ago -- all of this before Israel was even in the news cycle. Now, just days after Glenn announced the event in Israel the United States sides with the Palestinians, all but inviting anti-Israeli sentiment to build even more in the Middle East. So the question remains - is Glenn spying on the President to get future intel? Or is it something else -- like Divine Providence? Watch the segment HERE.
Can't make it to Israel but want to support the cause? Here's one easy way to do that...the Stand with Courage T-shirt. Net proceeds of this T-Shirt will go towards the cost of this event.
More college campus liberal hypocrisy (video)
You may remember a great video from a few weeks ago that exposed liberal hypocrisy - students who wanted to redistribute wealth were not willing to redistribute their grades. The creator of that video has made a sequel - and it's an instant classic. He goes around asking the students if they believe in free speech, while also asking them to sign a petition banning Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh from speaking on radio or TV. Hilarious hypocrisy ensues. WATCH.

Countdown to Rapture
As many of you have heard, several apparently well-funded idiots are claiming that the world will end on judgment Saturday precisely at 6pm. Many of you are also aware that the Bible explicitly says no man will know the day nor hour the Son of Man returns. But that's not stopping these clowns from pretending they have the answer. According to some reports, leaders of this movement have stopped paying their bills they are so sure it's the end. Get the full, sad story HERE. Get Glenn's reaction HERE.
Another countdown: War Powers Act on Libya is up TODAY
Here's a countdown the press will ignore while they are mocking pretend Christians: The War Powers Act - the mandate that a President must get approval of a military action within 60 days of commencement. That deadline approaches today and Obama has shown no signs of paying any attention to it. Will the anti-war media who complained about George W. Bush for 8 years complain about this one too? Will Congress do anything about it? Don't answer that...full story HERE.
