"It should be your care, therefore, and mine, to elevate the minds of our children and exalt their courage; to accelerate and animate their industry and activity; to excite in them an habitual contempt of meanness, abhorrence of injustice and inhumanity, and an ambition to excel in every capacity, faculty, and virtue. If we suffer their minds to grovel and creep in infancy, they will grovel all their lives."

Allen West on Obama Backing Palestinian Demand: 'Could Be the Beginning of the End' for Israel
The Blaze | by Jonathon M. Seidl | Posted on May 19, 2011
Tea Party Rep. Allen West has just issued a response to Obama's announcement that he backs the Palestinians' demand that Israel redraw its borders to where they were in 1967. Not only did he call the move the "most egregious foreign policy decision" the administration has made, but he also feared this "could be the beginning of the end as we know it for the Jewish state."
"The pre-1967 borders endorsed by President Obama would deny millions of the world's Jews access to their holiest site and force Israel to return the strategically important Golan Heights to Syria, a known state-sponsor of terrorism," West said in an e-mail.

The Dreyfuss Initiative: An Evening With Richard Dreyfuss

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 7-9 PM at The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia
A FREE EXCLUSIVE ONE-NIGHT ONLY EVENT FOR LISTENERS OF THE NEW TALK RADIO 1210, WPHT
Academy Award winning actor Richard Dreyfuss is best known for starring in film, television, and theater roles since the late 1960s, including the films American Graffiti, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Goodbye Girl, Stakeout, Always, What About Bob? and Mr. Holland's Opus. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1977 for The Goodbye Girl, and was nominated in 1995 for Mr. Holland's Opus.
Now, Richard Dreyfuss is taking on a new role. The Oscar-winning actor is Founder and President of The Dreyfuss Initiative, which calls for a cross-curricular study of civics in our public schools that incorporates...
- HISTORY - LOGIC - REASON - CRITICAL THINKING
The Dreyfuss Initiative, a nonprofitorganization committed to revitalizing America's civic culture. Richard also serves on the American Bar Association's Education Committee, the Board of the National Constitution Center, and was Senior Research Advisory Member of St. Antony's College, Oxford University.
THIS WILL BE AN ENTERTAINING EVENING FOR PARENTS, FOR STUDENTS, FOR EVERYONE!
Richard will share why he believes that too many of us don't realize the power we hold in a democracy. The solution, he says, is to change the way students learn about civics, the study of the rights and duties of citizenship. Learn why we need a national standard that calls for teaching reason, logic and critical thinking skills before teaching government as a way of providing perspective and context in civics classes.
ARE AMERICAN STUDENTS PREPARED TO INHERIT THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR GREAT NATION?
Richard Dreyfuss joins 1210s Dom Giordano for this unique 2-hour LIVE event and will lay out the critically important issues, and discuss why he believes we must be preparing our nation's next generation to be effective and engaged citizens.
The event is free. Seating is limited. You must register to attend.

Michael J. Totten
Why Lebanon Matters
As revolutions and uprisings overtake the Middle East-with Western forces in Libya, Basher Assad crushing Syrian rebels, and Egypt under tension-does little Lebanon matter?
Very much so, argues Michael J. Totten, a foreign correspondent noted for his behind-the scenes conversations with many key players in the region-including Hezbollah.
His new and insightful book, The Road to Fatima Gate, offers Totten's first hand experiences of the 2005 Cedar Revolution, the devastating 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, and the latter's progressive assault on Lebanon's elected government.
A noted journalist-his work has appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Jerusalem Post and many other publications-Totten will offer a sobering assessment of Lebanon and its overlooked significance in Middle East politics.

Memorial Day 2011.
Memorial Day is soon to be here. A time to honor our War dead, to be thankful for our Liberties and Rights, and to be generally thankful to God for all His attendant Blessings on America.
But this year, 2011, is unlike most recent years.
America has been in a slow, almost unnoticeable state of decline for 98 years. This decline has met with some, often very little, resistance. Examples of times America tried to return back to God and Constitutional Governance are seen in Calvin Coolidge, to a lesser extent under Eisenhower; and again America awoke and tried to reverse their course under Ronald Reagan, the 1994 Congress, to a lesser extent with George W. Bush and America's most recent attempt was the 2010 elections.

RedState Morning Briefing
For May 20, 2011
1. President Obama Again Demonstrates his Utter Ignorance of the Israel-Palestine Situation
In June of 2006 a tunnel from the Strip to an outpost on the border was completed (a three-year project), which allowed Hamas terrorists to infiltrate IDF defenses and to kidnap Cpl. Gilad Shalit. Nearly four years later, Shalit is still being held captive - yet the president of the United States demands that Israel concede land and defense in good faith with the party which is still holding one of its soldiers, kidnapped from within Israel's borders, captive. . . .
A return to the pre-1967 borders would have major implications for Israel's people and its security, and would be a major step toward the oft-repeated Palestinian goal of pushing the Jewish state entirely into the sea. This would require the abandonment of Judea and Samaria, the Golan Heights, the Sinai Peninsula, and East Jerusalem (including, most likely, the Temple Mount itself). This would immediately make the over 300,000 Israeli settlers living in the Territories into refugees. Yes, most Palestinians are refugees, in large part because of the unpublicized blockades on their other borders, with states like Jordan and Egypt which refuse to allow them admission. However, the fate of the new Jewish refugees, who would be stranded in Palestinian territory, would be far less positive (and far more gruesome) than that of the inhabitants of Gaza and the West Bank who receive massive aid shipments from Israel itself - let alone than that of the 1.2 million Arabs who live peacefully and prosperously inside Jewish Israel (with some even serving in the Knesset).
Even more importantly, such a reduction of Israeli territory would eliminate the security buffer currently created by the Territories, thereby deeply threatening the Jewish state's security. In an era when Arab fighters are employing rockets (both homemade and imported) and other standoff weaponry, moving the border of an unregulated Palestinian state up to the border of Israel would not only endanger Israeli citizens living in those border areas, but would also put major coastal cities like Tel Aviv, which is a mere eleven miles (18 km) from what would be Palestinian land, well within range of Katyusha rockets.
In other words, pulling back altogether to the pre-1967 borders would leave Israel's ability to protect and defend itself crippled. Unfortunately, Obama has chosen to ignore the lessons of the last 63 years (and, in particular, of 1948, 1967, and 2006), instead relying on his own narrow, uninformed worldview in which nations and nonstate actors do as he wishes, simply because he deigns to speak it aloud.
2. Today Barack Obama Meets His Inner Richard Nixon in Libya
I half expect Benjamin Netanyahu to come to the United States today and demand the U.S. cede all territory gained from the 1848 Mexican cession back to Mexico. It, like Obama's Middle East speech of yesterday, would be a key distraction from a date and duty Barack Obama has had 60 days to get ready for.
Under the War Powers Act, today is the day Barack Obama must either get congressional support for the Libyan operation or begin a full withdrawal from Libya.
3. The Horse Race for This Week
I think I'll start doing this every week. The feedback, both from you guys and from others who are trying to keep up with the pulse within the conservative grassroots has been very positive. Feel free to disagree. I'm just giving you my honest take on where I see the 2012 horse race right now.
Last week I took a bit of heat from Dan Riehl and a few others for failing to list Bachmann. With a dozen or so candidates in the race it is getting hard to keep up with them all and it was simply a matter of forgetting, not disliking her.
So, to make the conspiracy theorists happy, I'll start doing these in alphabetical order.
4. American Spring: Time to Stop Funding Terror Around the World
Barack Obama has many sinister friends who are egregiously subsidized by taxpayers, but at least they aren't terrorists. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his foreign patrons. At a time when Congress is searching for any morsel to cut from our domestic budget, Obama wants to expand foreign aid..to terrorists and terror filled nations. His push for expanded foreign aid comes as part of a broader endorsement of the "Arab Spring" uprisings in his latest foreign policy speech. Bin Laden is also endorsing them from the grave. Republicans need to call for an American Spring and categorically oppose all aid to enemy nations and entities in the 2012 budget.
5. Dominique Strauss-Kahn: Unlikely Macho Man
Like many, when I heard that IMF managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn had been arrested in New York for a variety of sexually related crimes my first thought was: who?
Since then I've found that Strauss-Kahn ("DSK" to his Euro pals and "sweet thing" to his Rikers Island cohabitants is, in fact, the single indispensable man to the economic system of the entire planet.
I was amused that his seduction technique - spring from the bathroom buck naked, chase your prey down the hallway, subdue her, drag her back to your room and sodomize her - was such a faithful metaphor for the way the IMF treats Third World countries but I suppose you can't work in any organization and not be affected by it in some way.
I have, however, been more surprised by another aspect of the story: the claim that France is home of a "macho" culture.
6. Socialist Senator Sanders Hawks His Book Like an Evil Capitalist
Vermont's Sen. Bernie Sanders is a different kind of socialist: the kind who will partake in the capitalist venture of freely exchanging money for products... at least when it comes to selling his own book.
The self-described socialist is out promoting his straight-to-paperback The Speech: A Historic Filibuster on Corporate Greed and the Decline of Our Middle Class, and was eager to sign and sell copies at corporate entities like Barnes & Noble in Washington, D.C.
That's where HUMAN EVENTS caught up with Sanders to ask him how exactly an avowed socialist squares his collectivist worldview with the fact that he's taking a bite of the forbidden fruit of capitalism? Is he giving away his "profits" to the federal government?
Watch.
7. Will the Arab Spring Lead to a War Against Israel? On today's edition of Coffee and Markets, Brad Jackson and Ben Domenech are joined by Chuck DeVore to talk about the uprisings in the Middle East and how it could lead to a war against Israel.

World Bin Laden Roots for Arab Revolution in Just-Released Final Audio Recording
WASHINGTON (AP) - Shortly before his death, Osama bin Laden recorded a message praising the Middle East protest movements and predicting that revolutions would spread across the region.
"I think that the winds of change will blow over the entire Muslim world, with permission from Allah," bin Laden said in the 12-minute message released online Wednesday.
The message was released as a video, but it contains only an audio track and a photo of the terrorist leader. Though both bin Laden and the West have generally supported protest movements in Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere, their goals are very different. The West hopes the protests will lead to democratic reforms. Bin Laden and his followers saw many Middle East governments as corrupt and hoped their collapse would lead to government based on their interpretation of Islamic law. In the recording, Bin Laden accused rulers of building themselves into idols and manipulating the media to stay in power. "So, what are you waiting for?" he implored listeners. "Save yourselves and your children, because the opportunity is here." Bin Laden was killed by Navy SEALs in a daring May 2 raid. U.S. intelligence officials were aware that the recording was in the pipeline. The video was released to jihadist websites by al-Qaida's media arm and was obtained and translated by SITE Intelligence Group. Bin Laden was known to record many of his thoughts, and intelligence officials are poring over the recordings discovered in his Pakistani compound. But it's unclear whether he released any other recordings prior to his death or whether this is the final sermon from the terrorist mastermind. | Al Qaeda release Osama recording |
Education Tucson Superintendent Backs Down From Plan to Change Radical Curriculum
Superintendent John Pendicote.
The Tucson Unified School District superintendent in the middle of a push to have a radical Mexican-American studies class changed to an elective, has now backed down from his position, even going as far as to issue an apology. The change follows two wild demonstrations at consecutive school board meetings, one in which students chained themselves to desks, and another in which the riot police were called in.

Politics Senate Blocks GOP Bid to Speed Offshore Drilling
WASHINGTON (AP) - A GOP bid to expand and hasten offshore oil drilling in the face of $4-a-gallon gasoline prices suffered an overwhelming defeat in the Senate on Wednesday, four days after President Barack Obama directed his administration to ramp up U.S. oil production.
Five Republicans joined 52 Democrats or independents in rejecting a bill written by Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell to speed up decision-making on drilling permits and force previously scheduled lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and off the Alaska and Virginia coasts. The Obama administration suspended several lease sales after last year's massive BP oil spill.

"Obama Shocker: Backs Palestinians, Tells Israel To Pull Back"
That was the headline on the Fox News website following President Obama's address today on Middle East policy.
A couple of days ago, I reported to you how mobs of Palestinian extremists threw themselves against the physical barriers marking the borders of Israel, threatening to overwhelm the tiny nation by sending waves of people against its borders. It was terrifying to watch from the comfort of our homes here thousands of miles away. But imagine if you were an Israeli knowing that your country is surrounded by Islamofascists who are just mere miles away.
Unbelievably, the president of the United States threw his influence against Israel today by demanding it shrink behind weak and exposed borders. In his speech at the State Department, President Obama said that negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians should begin with the 1967 borders -- with some swaps. Prior to the 1967 Six Day war, Jerusalem was a divided city.
This puts tremendous pressure on Israel now to give in to a key Palestinian demand: The division of Jerusalem. The Palestinians are making this demand in order to undermine and deny the Jewish heritage of Jerusalem and any claim to the land of Israel.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said that Jerusalem would remain the undivided capital of the Jewish state. During Jerusalem Day celebrations in 2009, Netanyahu declared, "Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish people, a city reunified so as never again to be divided." Responding to Obama's speech today, Netanyahu rejected the president's demands, calling the 1967 borders "indefensible."
Depending on what these "swaps" mean, thanks to Obama you may well see Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah and other Iranian allies dancing in the streets of the Holy City. And there is one thing we know for certain: Instead of satisfying the Palestinians, the Iranians and other jihadists, the division of Jerusalem will only stimulate their appetite for the other half of the Holy City.
The people storming Israel's borders last weekend were not calling for a return to the 1967 borders or Israel's 1948 borders. They were commemorating the Nakba or "the day of catastrophe," when the modern state of Israel came into existence in 1948. Their goal is not to coexist with the "catastrophe." They want to end it. They want to completely destroy Israel.
It is audacious for President Obama to make such a radical demand on our ally in the very same speech that he acknowledges the merger of the Palestinian National Authority with the terrorist group Hamas. Obama flippantly suggested that "Palestinian leaders will have to provide a credible answer" for this merger. Just imagine our reaction if any nation demanded we negotiate with Al Qaeda!
Obama's statement today seems certain to complicate his relationship with the American Jewish community. Today's Wall Street Journal indicates that his campaign was in damage control mode even before his speech. It is also certain to galvanize America's evangelical supporters of Israel.
ACTION ITEM: In the weeks and months to come, I will be providing you with action items in response to Obama's policy disasters. In times such as these, it is more important than ever for Christians to stand united with Israel.
So, in response to Obama's deeply misguided approach, I strongly encourage you to register today for the Christians United for Israel Washington Summit, July 18th -- 20th.
One of the Summit's most important events is a "lobbying day," when we send thousands of pro-Israel Christians to Capitol Hill to meet with their elected representatives. It is hard to overstate the tremendous impact on members of Congress when they hear from their constituents -- face-to-face -- about the importance of maintaining our alliance with Israel, founded upon the values of Western Civilization. If you can make it to Washington this July, please register today.
Daniels Doesn't Get It
An article in yesterday's Politico carried the following headline: "GOP Elite See Mitch Daniels As 2012 Savior." If Daniels runs for the nomination, he will run the risk of alienating a major constituency of the conservative coalition -- values voters.
The conservative movement is not monolithic. While moderates like to talk about a "big tent," Ronald Reagan often talked about the "three-legged stool" that made up the Republican Party -- economic conservatives, national defense conservatives and social conservatives. Knock out one of those legs and the stool falls -- the conservative coalition collapses.
Mitch Daniels may be a competent chief executive who excites economic conservatives, but he has gone out of his way on several occasions to distance himself from social conservatives. He raised eyebrows last summer when he told The Weekly Standard that the next president "would have to call a truce on the so-called social issues. We're going to just have to agree to get along for a little while."
Daniels has stubbornly defended his "truce" comments. But now we are learning that this is not a new position for him. The Washington Post's Jennifer Rubin reports that during a speech to the Ripon Society in 2009, Daniels embraced the conventional wisdom at the dawning of the Age of Obama that conservatives needed to drop "wedge issues" and find a way to become more agreeable.
To his credit, Daniels recently signed legislation cutting off Indiana taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood in spite of demands by the left that he abide by his "truce." But what Daniels doesn't seem to understand is that he doesn't get to decide if there is a truce or if wedge issues will come up.
It wasn't conservatives who made abortion a political issue. Conservatives are not trying to redefine marriage. Conservatives are not demanding that our immigration laws and borders be ignored. As I noted yesterday, our biggest problem in 2012 will be the Obama campaign and its left-wing allies. While Daniels may want to avoid wedge issues, he will not have the luxury of running the campaign on his terms. I guarantee you the left will keep fighting on all fronts.
These issues are not going to go away. They are tremendously important to millions of Americans. And a conservative candidate must be willing to defend the values of conservative voters. Just as importantly, our candidate, if he or she is going to defeat Obama, must be willing to draw sharp contrasts and bright distinctions between his or her policies and Obama's radical positions.
Where Is The Transparency?
Earlier this week, we reported that a seemingly disproportionate number of ObamaCare waivers have been granted to Nancy Pelosi's constituents. A Pelosi aide called the controversy "pathetic" and added, "These waivers are reviewed and granted solely by the Administration in an open and transparent process..." Really?
Today's Daily Caller reports that the Department of Health and Human Services "has not made public which companies and other entities have been denied waivers and why they were denied. ...nor will they publicly release the identities of those still waiting for a decision. HHS won't even say how many applications are in the queue."
The Daily Caller notes that Mark Lisheron, a veteran investigative journalist with a nonpartisan watchdog group, found that "his 30-plus years of government reporting wasn't enough to break through the Obama Administration's HHS maze to find the waiver information."
This episode adds to Obama's many broken promises to change the way Washington works and to make his administration a model of transparency.

RJC Concerned about Obama's Call for Israel to Return to 1967 borders
Washington, D.C. (May 19, 2011) --The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) reacted with concern to some of the key points President Obama made in today's major speech about the Middle East.
RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said:
Today the President called for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based "on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps." Those borders, actually the 1949 armistice lines, are physically indefensible, as numerous military experts have plainly stated. Asking Israel to return to those borders is unacceptable and places Israel in a vulnerable and dangerous position.
President Bush, in his 2004 letter to then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon memorializing the position of the United States, made it clear that, "In light of new realities on the ground, including already existing major Israeli populations centers, it is unrealistic to expect that the outcome of final status negotiations will be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949, and all previous efforts to negotiate a two-state solution have reached the same conclusion. It is realistic to expect that any final status agreement will only be achieved on the basis of mutually agreed changes that reflect these realities."
President Bush spoke often about Israel's need for secure and defensible borders and recognized Israel's legitimate claim to certain high-population Jewish areas, such as the immediate suburbs of Jerusalem, which are beyond the 1949 armistice line. In contrast, President Obama has consistently condemned even the building of housing in municipal Jerusalem itself. It is, in fact, President Obama's insistence on a settlement freeze as a pre-condition to negotiations, more than anything else, that doomed his administration's peace-making efforts. That stand emboldened Palestinian extremists, damaged the PA's ability to negotiate, and forced Israelis to question the sincerity of the administration's friendship.
With that immediate history in mind, we are concerned that when President Obama speaks of "the 1967 borders," he means borders for Israel that are much less secure and defensible and that put Israel at risk.

Obama Shocker...Backing Palestinians Obama tells Israel to pull back to 1967 borders

Obama: Palestinian State Must Be Based on 1967 Borders
Published May 19, 2011
| FoxNews.com
President Obama, in a sweeping address tackling the uprisings in the Middle East and the stalled peace process, on Thursday endorsed Palestinians' demand for their own state based on the borders that existed before the 1967 Middle East war.
The break with longstanding U.S. policy is likely to aggravate the Israelis, who want the borders of any future Palestinian state determined through negotiations. The declaration comes ahead of a meeting in Washington between Obama and visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"The status quo is unsustainable," Obama said. "A lasting peace will involve two states for two peoples." Complete Story Here> http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/05/19/obamas-mideast-speech-of...
Transcript of Obama Speech May 19th, 2011 The following is the prepared text of President Obama's speech "A Moment of Opportunity" delivered Thursday at the State Department:
Go HERE:
Israel Rejects U.S. Meddling
Three cheers to Prime Minister Netanyahu for rejecting President Obama's call for Israel to pull back to its 1967 borders. The nation of Israel is constantly on alert because it is surrounded by those who wish death upon its inhabitants. Israelis want nothing more than to live in peace amongst their Arab neighbors, so I find it particularly offensive that the President wants to dictate terms to Israel while refusing to hold Hamas or Hezbollah accountable for their actions. The Muslim Brotherhood is poised to take power in Egypt, increasing the threat to Israeli security.
Americans need to stand with Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East; an oasis of peace in a barren desert of violence and uncertainty. In the state of Israel, Muslims co-exist peacefully with Jews and Christians; in Muslim countries, minority religions are constantly persecuted because they aren't considered to be equals to the majority.
President Obama was elected to office in part on the promise of renewing America's image abroad; he even went on a "World Apology Tour" to decry America's arrogance and past meddling in other countries' internal affairs. Yet here he is now, attempting to dictate terms to the Israelis. Worse yet, this comes on the heels of violating the sovereignty of Pakistan during the Osama bin Laden raid.
While it doesn't bother me that the sovereignty of Pakistan was violated- due to their inability to partner with the U.S. on fighting Al Qaeda-I am concerned that the Obama administration is abandoning a long-standing ally just to appease the Muslim "street" and the internationalists of the U.N.
Israel has a right to exist and to ask them to pull back to their 1967 borders is akin to Spain, France, Russia, and Great Britain asking the U.S. to pull back to its 1791 borders. Then again, the Liberals are already trying to erase our borders in pursuit of George Soros' "Open Society". |
Allen West: Obama's Recognition of Pre-1967 Borders 'Beginning of the End' for Jewish State
Conservatives led by Florida Republican Allen West Thursday were quick to blast President Barack Obama's game-changing recognition of a Palestinian state existing along Israel's pre-1967 borders - a decision that many described as an existential threat for the Jewish state.
"Today's endorsement by President Barack Obama of the creation of a Hamas-led Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, signals the most egregious foreign policy decision his administration has made to date, and could be the beginning of the end as we know it for the Jewish state," said West, R-Fla., one of the leading Tea Party thinkers in the House Republican freshman class," West said in a prepared statement.

Obama Wants to Repartition Jerusalem
Thursday, 19 May 2011
By Frank Gaffney
President Obama's latest paean to what he calls "the Muslim world," delivered at the State Department today, was an exercise in whistling past the graveyard of real and growing dangers and a litany of misleading statements that borders on official malpractice. Its most important upshot is this: The United States is now prepared to do business with the Muslim Brotherhood.

NLRB Comes to Big Labor's Defense
It's hard to imagine Uncle Sam telling Walt Disney where to make movies or McDonald's how many hamburgers to make, but if you take a look at the case of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) versus Boeing, you'll see that the federal government is trying to do just that: dictate where and how private industry may do business. And it's doing so to bolster one of President Barack Obama's favorite special interests-labor unions.

An illegitimate child, an illegitimate president Pamela Geller, WND Talk about your proverbial can of worms. It is now clear that Barack Hussein Obama Sr.'s immigration file was the impetus for President Obama to release his "long form" last week. If he thought that release would put the matter to rest, it has had the opposite effect. It has all raised more questions than it answered, as does the release of shocking revelations in his father's immigration file. The release of Barack Hussein Obama I's immigration file is stunning in what it reveals and the questions it poses. BHO I's visa expired Aug. 8, 1961 (Barack Junior was born Aug. 4, 1961) - is that why he married Obama's mother? Stanley Ann Dunham was a white girl in a family way with a mixed-race child, desperate for legitimacy in a culture that condemned such behavior as abject immorality, and Barack Obama Sr. was a con man from Kenya desperate to stay in the USA. Was the marriage merely a business arrangement (she was 17 when she got pregnant)? Is that why it was so important to place the ads in the Hawaiian papers announcing the birth of the future president - because his father was about to be deported?

The idea that Israel must take the gas pipe, be reduced to tiny size by this tiny man, while the Muslims have given nothing, negotiated nothing, but instead, waged war and consolidated power between Fatah and Hamas (whose charter calls for the annihilation of Israel), is Obama's final solution. Hi folks,
If you need more evidence of insanity in the Islamic world, here it is. In response to the United States' killing of Osama bin Laden, without the knowledge or support of Pakistan, militant supporters of bin Laden have gone on multiple rampages against Pakistan. So far, they have killed nearly 100 Muslims. In response, Pakistan has railed against the United States, denouncing the bin Laden hit as an infringement on its sovereignty and threatening to cut off American supply lines to Afghanistan.
Think about it: If Pakistani forces were to have chased bin Laden into the United States and killed him here, would we have cried out against Pakistan's infringement on our sovereignty? Of course not! Also, the comparison just made is legitimate because bin Laden's allies, al Qaeda and the Pakistani Taliban, have been killing Pakistanis for many years and at one point threatened to take over a major part of the country (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1178937/Eliminate-Taliban-orders-Pakistan-PM-1-million-refugees-flee-Swat-Valley-fighting.html ). In other words, bin Laden and his allies have been a greater existential threat to Pakistan than to the United States.
One of our challenges as Westerners is to make any sense of what appears to be widespread madness in the Islamic world. To decipher these events, keep in mind the following characteristics of Islamic culture:
ˇ The commands of the Koran are deemed perfect. It is only permissible to debate over how to interpret them.
ˇ Those who do not believe that the Koran is perfect (Infidels, Polytheists, Atheists, Apostates, Hypocrites, and Heretics) are automatically the enemy, and suspect.
ˇ Any Muslims who collaborate with Infidels, Polytheists, and Atheists are susceptible to the accusation of being Apostates, Hypocrites, or Heretics.
ˇ Therefore, Muslims who collaborate with Infidels, Polytheists, and Atheists (example: the Pakistani government's cooperation with the United States) have to prove their bona fides as Muslims, and the collaboration will always be under pressure by those seeking to undermine the Muslim collaborators and their relationships with the non-Muslims.
ˇ Because of the constant political pressure to end such relationships, and permanent suspicion of the non-Muslim, cooperation can be bought temporarily but never permanently. Effectively, the "aid" we send Pakistan is actually tribute -- an effort to buy off hostility. To appreciate this, consider the over $200 million we sent in aid and personnel to Pakistan after its devastating 2005 earthquake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_response_to_the_2005_Kashmir_earthquake). Our aid to Pakistan has only grown each year since then (http://blogs.cgdev.org/mca-monitor/2011/05/nailing-down-the-slippery-numbers-on-u-s-aid-to-pakistan.php). These billions of dollars do not include the many billions of dollars "reimbursed" to Pakistan for its military expenses to fight its internal enemy, the Taliban. And yet Pakistan behaves today as if we've never done anything for them.
ˇ While Muhammad's examples of conflict resolution showed occasional leniency and magnanimity, he also frequently resolved conflict through warfare, murder, torture, terrorism, and deception. Muslims tend to follow the latter examples of Muhammad all too easily.
ˇ Muslim groups such as the Taliban feel perfectly justified and holy -- following the example of "the Prophet" -- when they deceive, murder, and terrorize those Muslims they conveniently label Apostates, Hypocrites, or Heretics, and the Pakistani government is in a very weak theological position to refute them because of its relationship with the United States. Therefore it cannot afford to reveal any genuine friendship or alliance with the United States.
Many liberals have tried to bring Islam into the ecumenical "big tent" of Western society, focusing on our common beliefs in one God and a Day of Judgment, respect for Jesus, and a common philosophical heritage that draws on ancient Greece. Unfortunately, it is not our commonalities that make problems. And unless we are willing to look critically into our differences with Islam that we've tried to ignore or minimize, we will never understand the Islamic world.

Over 70 militants attack Pakistani security post, 17 dead
By Izaz Mohmand
Reuters
PESHAWAR, Pakistan - More than 70 militants armed with rockets and mortars attacked a security post on the outskirts of Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar on Wednesday, the latest in an upsurge of violence since Osama bin Laden was killed in the country this month.
Two members of the security forces and at least 15 insurgents were killed in a four-hour gunbattle that erupted following two successive attacks on the security post set up to defend Peshawar, the gateway to the troubled northwest region.

Hi folks,
During this year's State of the Union Address, President Obama told one of the whoppers of all time (http://www.npr.org/2011/01/26/133224933/transcript-obamas-state-of-union-address):
Within 25 years, our goal is to give 80 percent of Americans access to high-speed rail. (Applause.) This could allow you to go places in half the time it takes to travel by car. For some trips, it will be faster than flying - without the pat-down. (Laughter and applause.)
On hearing the President's words, I was shocked at how blatantly and obviously wrong he could be and get away with it. In the days and weeks to follow, no one in the mainstream media seemed to notice that rail transportation has all of the security problems of air transportation and none of the benefits. Train stations are no different from airports in terms of vulnerability, as the people of Spain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Madrid_train_bombings) and Russia (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8592190.stm) know all too well. In addition, trains are vulnerable to external attacks along the entire length of their routes because they are at ground level -- unlike planes, which are safely out of reach in the sky. In other words, it is far more difficult and costly to provide high security to a train than an airplane. During wartime, rails have long been a favorite target of belligerents, as anyone who has seen The Great Locomotive Chase or even My Little Chickadee would know instinctively.
Fortunately, someone in a position of authority has finally noticed this fact and spoken publicly about it. President Obama's high speed rail plans are a security disaster and should be strongly opposed.

Amtrak chief says trains more vulnerable to terrorism than planes, wants to step up patrols
WASHINGTON - Amtrak President Joseph Boardman says he wants to step up security patrols of the passenger rail network and explore new technologies able to provide advance warning of track tampering following revelations that al Qaida considered attacking U.S. trains.
Boardman told a Senate panel Tuesday that the agency has expanded its use of explosive-sniffing dogs and is in close contact with U.S. and international security agencies.
He said promising ultrasonic and laser technologies may enable detection of track problems far ahead of trains. But he cautioned that trains are more vulnerable to attack than planes because terrorists have more ability to access trains and track.
He said more patrols of tracks are needed to identify specific points of vulnerability.

Obama puts immigration in Congress' court By ALICIA A. CALDWELL Associated Press |
WASHINGTON (AP) -- With a re-election campaign looming, President Barack Obama is pushing Congress to overhaul the immigration system, but lawmakers seems to have little appetite to take on the issue. In recent speeches at the Mexican border in El Paso, Texas, and the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, Obama said his administration has followed through on demands to secure the border, and now it's time for Congress to put revamping immigration back on the agenda and make something happen. "Comprehensive immigration reform is not only an economic imperative or a security imperative, it is also a moral imperative," Obama told the prayer breakfast. But Republicans say any effort to allow illegal immigrants to stay in the country or any effort that doesn't address the inadequacies they see in border security is doomed to fail. |

Alexander's Essay - May 19, 2011
The Directorate of Indoctrination
Leftist Academic Apparatchiks
"Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle." --George Washington from his Farewell Address, 1796

It's the end of the school year, so Barack Hussein Obama is including commencement speech whistle stops on his 2012 campaign itinerary.
In Memphis, where Obama delivered one such speech to budding sycophants at Booker T. Washington high school, he asserted, "My administration has been working hard to make sure that we ... encourage the kind of change that's led not by Washington, DC, but by teachers and principals and parents..." (Notice the order in which he lists the agents of change: "teachers and principals and parents.")
Of course, "the kind of change" led by socialist unions in government schools across the nation is already in lock step with what "Washington, DC" dictates. They're both bent upon churning out legions of useful idiots necessary to ensure incremental implementation of Democratic Socialism. Of incremental implementation, Soviet dictator Nikita Khrushchev once said, "We can't expect the American people to jump from capitalism to communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have communism."
I must note here that there are thousands of outstanding teachers who do not subscribe to Leftist efforts to "fundamentally transform the United States of America" via student indoctrination, partisan and sectarian curricula, and a liberal worldview. However, I must also note that, unfortunately, these brave souls are the rare exception to what was once the rule.
Prior to latter-20th century, outstanding teachers dominated public schools.
Historically, establishment of most private and public academic institutions for the young was, first and foremost, for the purpose of reading the Bible. Indeed, most Christian denominations established schools, colleges and universities to train clergy.
The nation's oldest academic institution, Harvard University, was established in 1636 and named for Puritan minister John Harvard. A 1643 college brochure identified Harvard's purpose: "To advance Learning and perpetuate it to Posterity; dreading to leave an illiterate Ministry to the Churches." Harvard alumnus John Adams (class of 1755) wrote in 1776, "It is the duty of all men in society, publicly, and at stated seasons, to worship the SUPREME BEING, the great Creator and Preserver of the universe." In his Dissertation on Canon and Feudal Law, Adams wrote, "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right, from the frame of their nature, to knowledge, as their great creator, who does nothing in vain, has given them understandings, and a desire to know; but besides this, they have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge; I mean, of the characters and conduct of their rulers."
Yale, the nation's third oldest academic institution, was established in 1701 by royal charter "wherein Youth may be instructed in the Arts and Sciences [and] through the blessing of Almighty God may be fitted for Publick employment both in Church and Civil State." Yale alumnus Noah Webster (class of 1778), wrote in the forward of his 1828 Webster's American Dictionary, "In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed. ... No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."
Princeton was founded by "New Light" Presbyterians of the Great Awakening for the purpose of training their ministers. Jonathan Dickinson, a Presbyterian minister and leader of the Great Awakening of the 1730s, was the school's co-founder and first president. Princeton alumnus James Madison (class of 1771) observed, "The belief in a God All Powerful wise and good, is so essential to the moral order of the world and to the happiness of man, that arguments which enforce it cannot be drawn from too many sources nor adapted with too much solicitude to the different characters and capacities impressed with it."
Virginia's College of William and Mary, founded in 1693, was Anglican. Baptists founded Rhode Island College, now Brown University, in 1764. Congregationalists established Dartmouth College in 1769 to extend Christianity to native populations.
Founder Benjamin Rush wrote, "[T]he only foundation for a useful education in a republic is to be laid in religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments."
But teaching reliance upon Essential Liberty as "endowed by our Creator," in support of Rule of Law as affirmed by "the Law of Nature and nature's God" and as outlined in our Declaration of Independence, is in direct opposition to those who would advocate for tyrannical rule of men.
Benjamin Franklin asserted, "A nation of well informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins."
The importance of government education as a tool for denying Rule of Law has been advocated by generations of tyrants. In order to achieve totalitarianism, they must undertake to expel God from the academy.
Karl Marx wrote, "The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother's care, shall be in state institutions at state expense." His student Vladimir Ilyich Lenin concurred, "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted." As Josef Stalin understood, "Education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed."
Leftists also understand that the earlier socialist indoctrination is applied, the greater its force, and the greater the likelihood it will stick.
Obama promised in his inaugural speech that he would "transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age." It was a promise that he'd previously fleshed out in "The Audacity of Hope," the second of his self-congratulatory autobiographies: "It's time to redesign our schools -- not just for the sake of working parents, but also to help prepare our children for a more competitive world. Countless studies confirm the educational benefits of strong preschool programs, which is why even families which have a parent at home often seek them out."
Likewise, its sunrise-to-sunset year-round application could provide further assurance of successful indoctrination. "The same goes for longer school days, summer school, and after school programs," writes Obama.
To that end, according to the Communist Party Education Workers Congress, "We must create out of the younger generation a generation of Communists. We must turn children, who can be shaped like wax, into real, good Communists. ... We must remove the children from the crude influence of their families. We must take them over and, to speak frankly, nationalize them. From the first days of their lives they will be under the healthy influence of Communist children's nurseries and schools. There they will grow up to be real Communists."
Of course, the Left's indoctrination agenda has been subject to exposure since its inception.
Benjamin Disraeli, the conservative 19th-century British prime minister, noted, "Wherever is found what is called a paternal government, there is found state education. It has been discovered that the best way to insure implicit obedience is to commence tyranny in the nursery." His contemporary, John Stuart Mill, warned, "A general State education is a mere contrivance for molding people to be exactly like one another; and as the mold in which it casts them is that which pleases the dominant power in the government, whether this be a monarch, an aristocracy, or a majority of the existing generation; in proportion as it is efficient and successful, it establishes a despotism over the mind, leading by a natural tendency to one over the body."
The great 18th-century philosopher Edmund Burke observed, "The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion." Indeed, that delusion is dependent on erasing the knowledge of the past, as 20th-century philosopher George Santayana concluded, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
In the words of Thomas Jefferson, "If a nation expects to be ignorant -- and free -- in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."
Caveat emptor, my fellow Patriots! The ultimate objective of Leftist Apparatchiks in the Democrats' dumbed-down Directorate of Indoctrination is to disenfranchise Liberty.

Why is the Senate stalling on the debt debate?
By Tom Coburn

|
Our country is facing the greatest threat to our freedom and future since 1941. Any honest view of our debt, deficits, size of government and demographic challenges shows we must make major changes if we are going to pass on the American way of life to our children. For the past several months I have been meeting with a small group of senators from both parties, informally known as the Gang of Six, that was designed to force the idle - not gridlocked - Senate, and then the House and the president, to enact a long-term deficit-reduction package. Our talks reached an impasse this week when, in my view, it became clear we would not be able to produce a balanced, specific and comprehensive deal . . . . I understand the disappointment, and real danger, associated with our impasse. The question, though, is not how we tried and failed but why the Senate has not even tried. Getting there will require the Senate to put forward specific solutions and win public support for serious entitlement reform and tax reform. In the coming weeks I'll be putting forward my own proposal that puts everything on the table and cuts $9 trillion in spending over the next decade. I hope my colleagues present their ideas as well. I'm confident that in a free and open debate, the best solutions for America will prevail, but only if we have the debate. [Washington Post, May 18] Click here for the full story |

Retired Lt. Col. Allen West spent more than 20 years in the Army, including several tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Gulf, before deciding to enter politics. West was one of 32 black Republicans to run for federal office last fall, and one of two who made it into the House.
In November, West handily beat incumbent Ron Klein in a South Florida district that includes West Palm Beach and Boca Raton. His eloquence, unyielding conservatism and habit of speaking from principle quickly made him a hero to conservatives. In February, West gave the keynote address at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington. [Daily Caller, May 18]

Newt Gingrich Is Not a Conservative

|
When Newt Gingrich criticized Congressman Paul Ryan's Medicare voucher plan and repeated his support for individual healthcare mandates this week, many conservatives expressed outrage and shock. Conservatives were right to be outraged. But they shouldn't have been . . . Newt Gingrich has never been a conservative. The reason Newt Gingrich is considered a conservative is because enough people have always said he's a conservative. But simply being partisan does not a conservative make. Gingrich has rarely, if ever, been for smaller government. He simply believes Republicans can preside over big government more effectively. Gingrich was a good Bush Republican in supporting TARP, the Medicare Plan D entitlement expansion and has even stated that he thinks No Child Left Behind isn't big enough-despite the fact that virtually all conservatives now reject these big government schemes. Lucky for Gingrich, perception is still reality, and amazingly the perception still remains that Newt is a conservative. Perhaps this most recent episode of blatant evidence to the contrary might finally awaken some conservatives from this chronic and troublesome delusion. [Am. Conservative Magazine, May 18]

The news this week is dominated by two cases of sexual impropriety involving famous and powerful men. There are many differences between Arnold Schwarzenegger and ex-IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, not least of which is the difference between the former's consensual affair, and the charges of sexual assault filed against the latter. One notable similarity is that both are married, and each has four children with his wife.
The French press has been mocking Americans for caring about that sort of thing, all the way back to the Bill Clinton impeachment saga. Why make such a big deal about minor complications like marriage?
It is often suggested that modern science and economic power have erased the original rationales for monogamous relationships. They're not strictly necessary for procreation any more. Men and women no longer find themselves huddled in frontier cabins, sharing the arduous chores required to maintain a decent life.
And yet... men and women still need each other, and for most of us, the enduring emotional needs of a loyal relationship cannot be replaced by the momentary fulfillment of random desire. When we learn of someone who doesn't feel that way, but still pretends to observe the traditions of marriage, we recoil in disgust.
We need marriage because a society of free men and women depends on trust, and marriage is the essence of fidelity. It does not degrade the value of other relationships, or people who choose to remain single, to note that something special occurs when a man and woman promise their eternal devotion to each other. That union kindles the flame of commitment, which spreads from marriage, to family, and onward to illuminate communities and nations. There really is no substitute, no matter how hard various ideologies work to manufacture one.

CDC warns public to prepare for 'zombie apocalypse'
The feral zombie looters are coming
Are you prepared for the impending zombie invasion?
That's the question posed by the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention in a Monday blog posting gruesomely titled, "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse." And while it's no joke, CDC officials say it's all about emergency preparation.
"There are all kinds of emergencies out there that we can prepare for," the posting reads. "Take a zombie apocalypse for example. That's right, I said z-o-m-b-i-e a-p-o-c-a-l-y-p-s-e. You may laugh now, but when it happens you'll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you'll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency."

End-of-life care differs between U.S., Canada, study finds
Just wait till Obamacare kicks in
End-of-life care for older people with advanced lung cancer differs in the United States and in the Canadian province of Ontario, a new study says.
U.S. patients receive far more chemotherapy, while patients in Ontario make much more use of hospital and emergency room services, according to the analysis of data from the U.S. government and the Ontario Cancer Registry. The information was collected from people 65 and older who died from non-small-cell lung cancer between 1999 and 2003.

White House shuts out Herald scribe
We are persona non grata at the White House
The White House Press Office has refused to give the Boston Herald full access to President Obama's Boston fund-raiser today, in e-mails objecting to the newspaper's front page placement of a Mitt Romney op-ed, saying pool reporters are chosen based on whether they cover the news "fairly."
"I tend to consider the degree to which papers have demonstrated to covering the White House regularly and fairly in determining local pool reporters," White House spokesman Matt Lehrich wrote in response to a Herald request for full access to the presidential visit.

Buying some friends
President Barack Obama will announce this week a new aid plan for the Middle East and North Africa that U.S. officials say will be far bolder than previous American economic assistance to the region.
Mr. Obama will outline the plan, which could include debt cancellation and a reprogramming of financial aid the U.S. already provides to countries like Egypt, in a speech he is scheduled to deliver Thursday at the State Department.

On Thursday's Program
Osama comments on Arab Spring
Osama bin Laden's final recorded message (awww) was released by Al Qaeda and reveals the dead terror leader was a big fan of the Arab Spring. He reportedly praised the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia and encouraged people to join in, which is weird because that sounds exactly like what a lot of other people have been advocating. Osama said there is no time to waste, the opportunity is here now -- hear bin Laden and Glenn's reaction on radio today.
Obama comments on Arab Spring
On the heels of Osama bin Laden's comments heaping praise on the Arab Spring, President Obama gave a major policy speech on the exact same topic today. The President in the past has voiced support for a two-state solution but rumors swirling before this speech said he would not support a two-state solution. Oh, the suspense! Will he or won't he support Israel!? Get the answer at The Blaze and you can read the President's prepared remarks for the speech HERE.
US News & World Report: Will Beck event hurt U.S. policy?
This is a very interesting headline coming from the mainstream media, especially considering Glenn's mission for Restoring Courage is to stand in support of our longtime friends in Israel. If standing with Israel while radicals are calling for their destruction is detrimental to U.S. foreign policy -- what's that say about America's foreign policy? Watch Glenn's response HERE.
Why Restoring Courage? Clearly US News & World Report doesn't get it -- but The Jerusalem Post does. Check out the fantastic article the rest of the media should read. Get it HERE.
MAJOR RESTORING COURAGE EVENT DETAILS ANNOUNCED TOMORROW! Glenn has NOT endorsed any travel packages for the Restoring Courage event and is not selling any tour packages at this time as the venue and the date of the event have not been released. More info will be announced tomorrow - stay tuned to GlennBeck.com, this email newsletter, Glenn's Facebook page and radio for the latest Restoring Courage information. If you have questions about the event please contact Israel@glennbeck.com.
Head of employees union: we have intercepted their emails
The left went ballistic over George W. Bush's warrantless wiretaps, and those were only in conversations with known terrorists. Now the AFL-CIO chief was caught on tape admitting to 'intercepting' emails from political opponents and explaining how they, more or less, go through the trash to get information. Where is the media on this? He is admitting a crime on tape! Is this any different than Watergate? Hear the disturbing audio HERE.
Adult Baby? The left is happy to make fun of Glenn for being a grown man who cries too much, but where's the outrage over a guy who chooses to spend his life as an 'adult baby' using tax dollars to support the lifestyle? Glenn has the story on radio today.
New tone: Dems portray GOP killing old people
For years Democrats complained that Republicans were being outrageous when they coined the phrase 'death panels' in reference to the inevitable rationing under Obamacare. Now, they don't seem to have a problem portraying the GOP as enemy #1 to Gran & Gramps. Watch the ad HERE.
San Francisco voting on circumcision: Not only is this a personal decision, but it seems like this is a very anti-Semitic bill. Where are the people standing against this? A religious ceremony could be a criminal offense? Glenn reacts on radio today.
Cave: Tucson superintendent caves to special interest groups in anti-American curriculum controversy -- changed his stance and even apologized. The Blaze has the spineless story HERE.
