Help spread this important message:

This story is incredible. Send this touching two-minute video about World War II veterans to FIVE friends and family to remind them that every day alive in this great, free country is truly a bonus.

Let's get 1,500,000 views for the video by Memorial Day (May 30th) to show these living heroes, one last time, just how grateful we are for their unbelievable sacrifice.

The video is a trailer to a documentary that will come out in November. The more we can show interest in the trailer (i.e. views), the more Americans will get to see the film. Time is running out: 1,000 WWII vets die every day.

We are free today because of these men and women. The least we can do is watch a web video and send it to five people. Let's get this mission done!

Action Alert

Senate Democrats introduced legislation this week that would repeal existing tax deductions for U.S. oil and gas companies - deductions which help spur domestic energy supply and help support millions of energy sector and related jobs.  Sen. Reid is planning a vote for Wednesday, May 18 on this legislation. The Democratic plan for affordable energy continues to be taxing our U.S. energy producers, rather than policies that support increasing supply and production. Please call Senator Toomey at (202) 224-4254, and ask him to OPPOSE new taxes on America's oil and gas companies. Businesses are a "tax collector." Imposing new energy taxes will undoubtedly be passed along to our families and businesses via higher prices at a time we can least afford it.

Michael J. Totten

Why Lebanon Matters

As revolutions and uprisings overtake the Middle East-with Western forces in Libya, Basher Assad crushing Syrian rebels, and Egypt under tension-does little Lebanon matter?

Very much so, argues Michael J. Totten, a foreign correspondent noted for his behind-the scenes conversations with many key players in the region-including Hezbollah.

His new and insightful book, The Road to Fatima Gate, offers Totten's first hand experiences of the 2005 Cedar Revolution, the devastating 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, and the latter's progressive assault on Lebanon's elected government.

A noted journalist-his work has appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Jerusalem Post and many other publications-Totten will offer a sobering assessment of Lebanon and its overlooked significance in Middle East politics.

RedState Morning Briefing

For May 12, 2011

1. Erickson & Trump. One on One.

Yes, it is true. On Tuesday, I will be going one on one with Donald Trump in his office in New York.

He has agreed to sit down and have an unfiltered conversation with no topic off limits. Thus I will ask him those questions many of you have wanted to ask him and flesh out why he thinks he is a conservative, why he might run, etc.

You can watch the interview live and for free. But you must register by going here.

2. Mitch McConnell Yet Again Tells Fiscal Conservatives to Go to Hell

So let's get this straight.

There's vacancy on the Senate Finance Committee. Tom Coburn is the only significant fiscal conservative on the committee.

Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) had the seniority to get the job, but for more than a month has consistently said he did not want the committee spot.

Who was next in line? Jim DeMint.

Guess whose mind Mitch McConnell worked aggressively behind the scenes to change?

3. Hypocrite Harry Reid's High Horse Must've Kicked Him in the Head

With one hand firmly planted in union bosses' pockets, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid got on his high horse in the Senate on Wednesday afternoon to hypocritically castigate Republicans for calling out the union fanatics at the National Labor Relations Board and their latest attack on free enterprise.

4. More Residual Effects of Obama's Anti-Oil Policies

Obama's oil free utopia is precipitating yet more mayhem on our economy. Today, two major news stories concerning our lack of oil production highlight just how profoundly oil affects our economy.

The first story concerns the Trans Alaska Pipeline. The pipeline employs 2,000 workers and delivers 11% of our domestically produced oil to the other states. During its early years, when we weren't impounding the oil in Alaska, the pipeline transported 2 million barrels of oil per day. Now, less than a third of that volume flows through the pipeline, with the trajectory spiraling sharply downward. The Wall Street Journal reported today that there is growing concern about the adverse effects of decreasing oil flow on the pipeline itself.

5. General Electric's Jeff Immelt-A Uniter, Not a Divider

There's been a lot written over the last couple of years about the Obama administration's crony capitalism. Other than 'spooky dude' George Soros, there is, perhaps, no better embodiment of an Obama crony in capitalist's clothing than General Electric's Jeff Immelt.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

6. The 60-Day Mark In Libya - A Serious Deadline For A Serious Anti-War Movement

As of 17 May 2011, armed forces from the United States will have been involved in military combat operations in Libya for 60 days. By that date, President Obama is required by statute to withdraw US Forces from Libya and cease all unpleasantness. Or, he could ask Congress to give him a resolution authorizing the use of force. This would seemingly make for a rather tough day at the links for President Obama.

7. Stop the Natural Gas Streaker!

There are a lot of bad policy ideas dreamed up on a daily basis on Capitol Hill, and many get turned into bills by Congressmen. Thankfully, most of these bills go nowhere. But occasionally, a policy streaker comes out of left field and makes a heady gambit for prime-time exposure and a floor vote in either the House or the Senate.

A bill often becomes "a streaker" when the number of its co-sponsors start ramping up rapidly, either because of a political interest back home in various districts, a well-heeled coalition of lobbyists, or the simple fact that members and their staff are not paying sufficient attention to a bill's merits.

Rep. John Sullivan's H.R. 1380, the New Alternative Transportation to Give America Solutions Act is a streaker, and it needs to be stopped. It has 179 cosponsors, nearly half of which are Republican. And when a bill begins to get this much bipartisan support, it makes it difficult for House Leadership to keep the bill off the floor.

Nothing personal, Mr. bin Laden. Just politics, you understand

May 10, 2011 02:39 pm | Coach Collins

By Doug Book, staff writer

The Regime of Change has outdone itself, for since the May 2nd death of Osama bin Laden; nothing has changed more consistently than the story of the al Qaeda master's demise.

We have been told that bin Laden was armed and fired at his attackers, that he despicably used a struggling woman as a shield and that a 40 minute firefight preceded his death.

Then we learned that only bin Laden's personal courier had a weapon, a woman was wounded only because she flung herself in front of her vile hero and the SEAL force faced little or no resistance after entering the walled compound.

So why is there such confusion in what should be a straightforward story of objective, mission and result?

Because as always in Obama's world, this was first and foremost a POLITICAL exercise.

Clearly defined ends are a good idea in most endeavors. But in politics they are dangerous, for political objectives are as many and varied ... Continue Reading:Nothing personal, Mr. bin Laden. Just politics, you understand

Columbia Rewards al-jazeera

Laura: I find it revolting that Columbia University is awarding a journalism prize to pro-terror, pro-jihad propaganda outlet al-jazeera. Every American should. Yet it isn't the least bit surprising considering America's colleges and universities frequently give aid and comfort to our enemies. Columbia itself invited Iran's genocidal dictator to speak.

Obama's Abominable 'Respect' for Bin Laden Burial Rites

By Robert Spencer, JIHAD WATCH

After approving the Navy SEALs' mission to kill Osama bin Laden (or allowing Leon Panetta to approve it, as some reports indicate), Barack Obama has been in full retreat mode, doing everything he can to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Most notoriously, he ordered a full Muslim burial for Osama bin Laden, contradicting his own claim that bin Laden was "not a Muslim leader."

Even worse, when Islamic groups started to complain about the fact that bin Laden was buried at sea, rather than on land in accordance with Islamic law, Obama took pains to assure the world that the American troops involved in the burial were "respectful of the body" of bin Laden.

The word "respectful" is all-important, because the sea burial had once again plunged those ever-fragile Islamic supremacists into a crisis of self-esteem. Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, a former resident of the United Kingdom who-until he left on a jaunt to Lebanon and wasn't...

The UN and bin Laden's Human Rights

by Anne Bayefsky appears today on Fox News.

The response to the death of Usama bin Laden by the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, and two "experts" appointed by the U.N. Human Rights Council ought to be ringing a lot of alarm bells right now.

Just last month, Susan Rice, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations told Congress that "when we meet our financial obligations to the U.N., we make Americans safer."

On the contrary, U.N. reaction to Bin Laden's death indicates that the Obama administration's warm embrace of the organization is endangering American lives.

The U.N.'s top human rights official took time this past week to concern herself about the treatment Bin Laden received as he was killed. She demanded to know "the precise facts surrounding his killing" for the purpose of determining its legality. According to Pillay, "counter-terrorism activity...in compliance with international law" means "you're not allowed...to commit...

Pakistan's ISI fights lawsuit linking it to Mumbai attacks

US lawyers seek dismissal of allegations against embattled intelligence agency

EPA file

Smoke pours out of the Taj hotel in Mumbai on Nov. 27, 2008, during a three-day siege in which Indian security forces battled terrorists holed up in the landmark building.

By Michael Isikoff National investigative correspondent

NBC News NBC News

Pakistan's embattled ISI intelligence service has retained U.S. lawyers to block a lawsuit alleging that its current and former directors helped one of the world's most dangerous terrorist groups conduct the Nov. 2008 attack in Mumbai, India, killing 164 people, including six Americans.

The lawsuit, filed late last year in U.S. federal court in New York by American family members of the victims and one survivor of  Mumbai, is based in large part on  evidence developed by the FBI  linking the ISI to the operatives of the Lashkar e Taiba terror group who are charged with conducting the operation.

You have to see the level of denial to believe it.

The question this raises is, "How can we work with a government and a people who distrust us so completely that they refuse to believe their own eyes, if the evidence has anything to do with us?  Or is it this simply an example of adamant lying in the face of incontrovertible evidence to the contrary?"

Campaign for Working Families

To: Friends & Supporters

From: Gary L. Bauer

A Day In Obama's America

I have to hand it to him -- Barack Obama is one busy man. When I worked in the Reagan Administration, we prioritized our objectives, picked one issue and cleared the decks to get it done. Call it multitasking if you like, but Obama is launching assaults on a wide range of issues. Just consider what the Obama Administration has pushed in the last 24 hours.

  • The economy and restoring sanity to the budget process are the most pressing issues in America right now. But Obama went to Texas yesterday to promote what the left and big media call "comprehensive" immigration reform, which translated means amnesty. Obama declared that his administration had gone "above and beyond" to secure the border. (Has he seen the headlines lately?)

Now, he argued, it's time for amnesty, and he accused congressional conservatives of "moving the goal posts." Then he went on to mock the overwhelming majority of Americans who don't believe the border is secure, saying, "Maybe they'll need a moat. Maybe they'll want alligators in the moat." It is amazing what Obama thinks is funny.
  • We learned that Barack and Michelle Obama would be hosting a poetry reading event at the White House tonight. Among the invited guests is the rapper Common, who has sung about a burning Bush. That's not a biblical reference. He was referring to setting former President George W. Bush on fire. Remember, this is a guy invited by a White House that is lecturing the rest of us on the need to be more civil in our public discourse.

Common is also a racist. In a 2005 interview, Common said he opposed mixed-race relationships, saying, "I disagree with them. ...It's a problem." In one of his songs, he says he wants to be "known like El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz" -- Malcolm X. But wait...there's more.

He has sung about threatening to shoot police officers, and has written songs that support cop-killers Mumia Abu-Jamal and Assata Shakur, who escaped from jail and now lives in exile in Cuba. The FBI has labeled Shakur a "domestic terrorist" and offered a $1 million bounty for information leading to her arrest. Unbelievably, Common even named his daughter after Assata Shakur. It's worth noting that as Common is feted at the White House, police officers from all the over the country will be gathering in Washington this week to honor officers killed in the line of duty. They should march on the White House.

The White House is not backing down or withdrawing Common's invitation. A Fox News report suggests that it may be due to an old friendship with the Obamas. Evidently, Common grew up in Jeremiah Wright's church, which Obama attended for 20 years.
  • Following the lead of the Obama Administration, the Navy announced that it would begin performing same-sex "marriages" at naval bases located in states where such unions are legal. But the Navy is not a state-based institution. It is a federal institution, bound by federal law. And the federal Defense of Marriage Act states that marriage is the union of one man and one woman. The Obama Administration may not be defending the law, but the Navy is still obligated to respect it.

I'm pleased to report that the Navy has abruptly reversed course after 63 House Republicans sent a letter to the Secretary of the Navy protesting this violation of federal law.

Hold On To Your Wallet!

Today's Washington Post reports that Senate Democrats are upping the ante in the budget debate. While House Republicans have produced plans to balance the budget through spending cuts, Senate Democrats are doing what Democrats do best -- proposing tax hikes.

According to the Post, "Senate Democrats are trying to draft their own budget blueprint, which could be put to a committee vote as soon as next week. The latest version ... includes as much as $2 trillion in fresh revenue..."

My friends, you need to understand what Obama's Senate allies are up to. If you believe that tax increases generate new revenue, repealing the Bush tax cuts on the "rich" will raise only about $700 billion. Where is the other $1.3 trillion coming from? That's right -- the Middle Class.

There is a big difference between the two parties. One believes the government is too big and needs to be downsized. The other believes it is not big enough and that you need to pay more to support it. This is the stark choice that will face the American people in 2012.

Will we embrace the conservative vision of lower taxes, smaller government, traditional values and more personal freedom? Or will Obama "fundamentally transform" America into a European-style welfare state? I promise you we will be doing everything we can to stop Obama's socialism!

AP's Bogus Poll

The Associated Press released a new poll that has gotten a lot of attention today. The left-wing media is hyping results giving Obama a huge "bin Laden bounce" with an approval rating at -- are you sitting down? -- 60%. Horse...feathers!

Don't despair, friends. No other poll has the president's "Osama bounce" anywhere near that. You'd think the folks at the AP might question the results and/or the poll's methodology before releasing it. But no. The headlines were too good to pass up.

As it turns out, the poll isn't worth the paper it is printed on. To get Obama to 60%, the poll had to oversample Democrats by 17 points! Its partisan breakdown was 46% Democrat, 29% Republican and 4% Independent. Where did they conduct this survey? San Francisco? Kudos to Hotair's Ed Morrissey for looking into the numbers. This poll did not measure public opinion -- it is trying to shape public opinion.

"No Third Party!"

Yesterday I asked for your feedback about forming a conservative third party after a Gallup poll found that, for the first time ever, a majority of Republicans were open to the idea. I think it is a terrible idea that would only guarantee Obama's reelection, just like Ross Perot helped to elect and reelect Bill Clinton.

I'm pleased to say that the overwhelming majority of you who responded -- and I mean OVERWHELMING -- agreed with me. Just 6% thought we need a new party. Many of you said such an effort would be "suicidal for conservatives." Quite a few folks mentioned Ross Perot.

Obviously, if you're reading this daily report, you care deeply about politics and current events. When it comes to the practical impact of a third party, you get it. But the Gallup poll clearly suggests we have a lot of explaining to do with our friends and family members.

So get busy! Not only do we need to explain to folks why Obama should not get a second term, it seems too many conservatives are confused about how best to accomplish that urgent goal.

"It took nine years, seven months and 21 days to pinpoint the man who plotted, paid for and perpetrated the terror attacks of 9-11-01. When a U.S. Navy SEAL team finally found Osama bin Laden in the third-floor bedroom of a comfortable house in a suburb of Islamabad, Pakistan, they killed him. Last Sunday's complex and highly successful operation validates Ronald Reagan's maxim for terrorists after U.S. Navy SEALs captured the murderous hijackers of the Achille Lauro in October 1985: 'You can run, but you can't hide.' Afterward, one of the participants penned a corollary: 'Don't bother to run -- you will only die tired.'" --columnist Oliver North

"Whence came the intelligence that led to Abbottabad? Many places, including from secret prisons in Romania and Poland; from terrorists seized and kidnapped, then subjected to interrogations, sometimes 'harsh' or 'enhanced'; from Gitmo detainees; from a huge bureaucratic apparatus of surveillance and eavesdropping. In other words, from a Global War on Terror infrastructure that critics, including Barack Obama himself, deplored as a tragic detour from American rectitude." --columnist Charles Krauthammer

"If you think I'm being unfair to liberals, let me remind you that when Obama's predecessor was in office, not a day went by when the MSM didn't let us know how many American soldiers were dying in Bush's wars. Garry Trudeau even devoted Sunday editions of Doonesbury to listing the names of the fallen. Anyone find it odd that now that Obama is in charge, you don't get a daily, weekly or even monthly, update of numbers and names? Well, just for the record, nearly 1,500 American warriors have died in Afghanistan over the past 10 years, with two-thirds of the fatalities occurring since it became Obama's war in 2009!" --columnist Burt Prelutsky

"[W]hen the federal deficit is mentioned, so many people suggest we pay for it by raising taxes on the working rich. How perverse is that? Look at how we got the huge deficit in the first place -- entitlements like Social Security and Medicare. Were these instituted for the benefit of the working rich? Of course not, so why should the people who already benefited this country by producing jobs and our awesome consumer goods have to pay for it? In what bizarro, bearded-Spock universe is that fair?" --columnist Frank J. Fleming

The Demo-gogues

Even thought I opposed it the entire time... "The reason that I concluded [that the mission to kill Osama bin Laden] was worth it was that we have devoted enormous blood and treasure in fighting back against al-Qa'ida ever since 2001. I said to myself that if we have a good chance of not completely defeating but badly disabling al-Qa'ida, then it was worth both the political risks, as well as the risks to our men." --Barack Obama

Security theater: "Anyone, even a member of al-Qa'ida, could purchase a train ticket and board an Amtrak train without so much as a question asked. So that's why I'm calling for the creation of an Amtrak no-ride list. That would take the secure flight program and apply it to Amtrak trains." --Sen. Nothing to worry about: "Some in our country see China's progress as a threat to the United States; some in China worry that America seeks to constrain China's growth. We reject both those views. We both have much more to gain from cooperation than from conflict." --Hillary Clinton

Victimitis: "Republicans voted unanimously on an extremist anti-choice bill that would deny millions of women access to reproductive health care. For the first time ever, restrictions would be placed on how women with private insurance choose to spend their private dollars on health insurance. Editorial Exegesis

"President Obama either doesn't realize a debt crisis is looming, or he just doesn't care. [On Sunday], he dispatched his transportation chief, Ray LaHood, to herald the expenditure of another $2 billion on 'high-speed' rail. This reckless profligacy has the country on a one-way track to the poorhouse. On Friday, the Congressional Budget Office reported that the federal budget deficit is up 9 percent for the year. Despite impressive rhetoric about 'tough choices' and 'deep cuts,' the administration has, so far, spent $181 billion more -- not less -- this year than it did last year. The government is spending more now than it ever has. ... As evidence of the demand, Mr. LaHood said he received more than $10 billion in requests from cities and states looking to get their hands on a big slice of the $2 billion in federal largesse. So the demand isn't actually from the public; it's coming from politicians. Sen. Charles E. Schumer, for example, put out a pair of press releases Monday triumphantly announcing the millions headed to his state. With Mr. LaHood standing behind him, the New York Democrat also insisted that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) boost its involvement in train security with a 'no ride' list that would, in theory, keep terrorists off the tracks. Although this idea was presented as a response to evidence of a potential locomotive plot found on Osama bin Laden's captured computer, TSA has long been looking to expand its role. ... Such schemes won't make anyone safer. Nor does it make sense to create transportation 'alternatives' that encourage Americans to abandon their automobiles so they can be packed into the confined space of a vulnerable train or trolley. Spiking the president's railroad boondoggle is the right thing to do not just for the country's fiscal health, but for homeland security as well." --The Washington Times

Dezinformatsia

Nothing like ignoring the real reasons: "Why haven't the media reported as many plots and terror alerts under the Obama administration? It can't be that we're suddenly that much safer. ... But is it also possible that the Bush administration, for political reasons, chose to play up the war on terror in a way that the Obama administration has chosen not to?" --CNN's Howard Kurtz

Drool on the chin: "Meanwhile along comes Barack Obama. No military experience. Never even pretended to be a duck hunter. And yet he shows the kind of quiet strength that doesn't need to prove itself, except in the act of doing what needs to be done. No gloating or boasting (think of that silent visit to Ground Zero). Just taking responsibility, while giving the credit to those who risked the most. In other words, the cowboy way. Funny how truly modern that turned out to be." --Business Insider's Spencer Critchley (Remember when the Leftmedia mocked Bush as a "cowboy"?)

Dire predictions: "The one thing that conservatives cannot rant and rave about is what has been their most predictable refrain since the Cold War: national security. Of all the things President Obama has done to conservatives in America, this may be the cruelest. He has taken away their national security argument. ... So imagine the predicament for Republicans. Their best strategists are already telling them it's time to back away from the wedge issues that defined the party for decades. Opposing abortion doesn't get you to 51 percent -- and may cost you that prize. Neither does opposing gay rights. Gays in the military is history. Even immigration has a politically dangerous downside. And now you're taking away 'weak on terrorism.' What is an independent group loaded with dough to do? Ask people to trust that the Republicans will be better on Social Security? I don't think so." --Fox News commentator Susan Estrich

Alpha Jackass: "I don't know if you could, had a monitor there, you could see who actually appeared at the National Press Club today in Washington, but it is a new low. He appeared in costume as a pretend Founding Father outraged at the notion of raising the debt ceiling which of course the Founding Fathers would have understood would be imperative to maintain the credit rating of the United States of America." --MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell (The Founding Fathers would not have understood how we dug ourselves into so much debt in the first place...)

Facebook Founder Hosts Obama - Gives Unprecedented Access to 500,000,000 Facebook Members Worldwide

But Now You Can Demand They Give Us Equal Time!

Dear Freedom-Loving American,

In a long-standing and obviously wise tradition, American media companies give "equal time" to both major political parties. The practice of giving equal time makes sure those who control our public airwaves don't abuse their monopoly.

Sadly, it looks like Barack Obama has found a temporary way around that tradition by co-opting another virtual monopoly, Facebook, into giving him top - and exclusive - billing.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in an appalling and dangerous abuse of Facebook's dominance of the Internet, the powerful liberal icon Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, very publicly threw his weight behind the President. He hosted A COZY TOWN HALL AVAILABLE TO AMERICA'S 150 MILLION FACEBOOK MEMBERS, including millions of the young voters who helped Obama raise $750 million online vs. McCain's $370 million in 2008. (And remember, Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes helped lead that campaign.)

But we can fight back now, insisting that Facebook provide equal access to the eventual Republican nominee. And you can help...

The editors of HUMAN EVENTS and RedState have created a petition demanding that Zuckerberg pledge to host our eventual Republican nominee in a Town Hall Meeting identical to Obama's.

Please sign it RIGHT NOW - then send this email to every freedom-loving conservative you know. It's truly urgent.

Rep Allen West & Rep Duncan D. Hunter slam the

Military Leadership Diversity Commission Report

Sharpen your pencils gentlemen, fire up your computers,

and contact your Congressman.

Read this indictment ..... PLEASE !!

Obama and the Democrats at work behind closed doors. They won't rest until the degradation of our country/military is completed. In case you weren't aware of the Military Leadership Diversity Commission Report.... interesting reading.

A 31-member Military Leadership Diversity Commission, set up by Pelosi's Lame Duck Congress a year ago, requested that the Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, execute a "social experiment on diversity"; the goal of the recommendations is to change the make-up of the leadership of the US Armed Forces. The Commission contains a sizable number of civilian equal-opportunity professionals, as well as some retired and active military personnel.

Because ethnic minorities are less likely to meet eligibility requirements for entrance into the US Armed Forces, the Commission is urging the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force to either lower or eliminate the standards that have always been used for acceptance of recruits into the military. The Commission proposal states education, entry test level scores, criminal records, and drug use that up to this time have been used to disqualify a large numbers of applicants, including some minorities and all felons, unfair and should be eliminated.

The Commission completed a 162-page report and strongly recommended that the Secretary of Defense and the Congress endorse the proposals, that they act to execute the Commission's "social experiment on diversity."

(out of the full slate of 27 endorsed candidates who won their primary elections), have already gone public on their view of the proposed "social experiment on diversity"; they feel the proposal is intrusive and inappropriate.

"This is the last thing the military should be thinking about," said Congressman Duncan D. Hunter, a member of the Armed Services Committee who saw combat in Iraq and Afghanistan as a US Marine Corps Officer. "Our military is engaged in a shooting war," the California Republican stated. "This is just another distraction that can't interfere with what's most important - - winning in Afghanistan. Congressman Duncan added, "some people seem to think the military is a staging ground for social testing, and that attitude only puts lives at risk."

Congressman Allen West, a Florida Representative, who as a Senior Army officer completed a 1 year combat tour of duty in Iraq, and a 2 year combat tour of duty in Afghanistan said, "The US Military is a merit based organization where anybody can succeed." Congressman West said the report "is a slap in the face to those minorities who have achieved seniority." In an interview with The Daily Caller, Congressman West, who is black, was not pleased with the report, and said that the military is not a social experiment for outside groups to impose their theories.

The US Naval Academy Admissions Office now openly practices the "social experiment of diversity." The Naval Academy Admissions Board now admits student with SAT scores in math as low as 410 and verbal scores as low as 370; the SAT score cut off for Midshipmen had normally been around 600 out of a possible 800 score.

A former Admission Board Member agreed to make the following statement on conditions of anonymity; he said " The unfairness is absolutely real." The "social experiment on diversity" has been driven by the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff's and the CNO since their appointments, and has resulted in the admittance of marginal students, mostly athletes and minorities, while by-passing fully qualified white students in the pool of 15,000 applicants annually. The results of the admittance of marginal students has been an increase in serious violations of regulations such as drug use (resulting in multiple dismissals), excessive use of liquor and inebriation on weekend liberty, increased violations of the Honor Code requiring retraining to retain minority students (as a former member of the Honor Committee there was no such thing as honor retraining; Midshipmen do not lie, cheat, or steal) and recently, one Midshipman lied to a law enforcement officer when in custody for a federal offense.

The Brigade of Midshipmen have been negatively affected by the "social experiment of diversity," and now the US Armed forces will be subjected to that same experiment during a wartime environment. The Supreme Court has ruled that admission procedures at institutions of higher education that consider percentages of race and gender as a consideration for selecting and making up an entering freshman class is discriminatory and those actions by a college Admissions Board are a violation of federal law.

The "social experiment on diversity" imposed on the Brigade at the US Naval Academy, pushing an openly homosexual environment on the US Armed Forces, and now the proposal by the Military Leadership Diversity Committee have all put the US Military under unreasonable destabilizing pressure. The proposal by the Commission to select future flag officers of the US Armed Forces using some type of litmus test on diversity will not improve the "Combat Effectiveness" of the US Military.

By recommending that senior military officers only be selected for flag if they pass a test on diversity, and considering their race and gender by some percentages, will not result in the promotion of the most qualified senior officers who would improve the "Combat Effectiveness" of the US Armed Force (there will be no more Admiral Bull Halseys, General Pattons, General Chesty Pullers, General Jimmy Doolittles, etc., because they would not be "politically correct" selectees).

The American people are unaware of the aforementioned coordinated assaults on the most effective and professional military force in the world, they are not aware that the agenda that is being driven by socialists and liberals who oppose the US Armed Forces high standards of duty, honor, country, and its support for the Judeo-Christian religions is hurting the stability of the force. Those coordinated assaults by progressives, pushing a "social experiment on diversity", will weaken the US Military over the long term.

The actions of outside forces supported by the Obama Administration are continuing to push the above listed changes that are marginalizing the "Combat Effectiveness" of the US Armed Forces. The US Military has protected and defended the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Republic for 234 years, experimenting with the structure and make-up of the US Military organization and assaulting its leadership structure will destabilize the US Armed Forces. We must rely on the judgment of the 12 elected Combat Veterans For Congress and other Congressmen to coordinate their efforts to halt the above listed dangerous experiments with the US Armed Forces.

The Commission wants Secretary Gates to appoint a "Diversity Czar" who will bypass the Congress on all future matters concerning their proposed "social experiment on diversity" and that in the future the Diversity Czar be permitted to by-pass Congress and report directly to the Defense Secretary.

Another of the many recommendations is that at confirmation, all future flag officer selectees be required to demonstrate to the Senate Armed Services Committee that they have a rich background in promoting the "social experiment on diversity"; future promotions to flag would no longer be based upon which senior officers are best qualified to lead military personnel into combat and/or would be most effective at improving their command's "Combat Effectiveness."

While the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is driving the current aggressive indoctrination of the US Armed Forces, in order to turn the US Military into an openly homosexual organization, the Military Leadership Diversity Commission is pressing the Pentagon to make additional destabilizing changes to the US Armed Forces in the midst of three theatres of armed conflict. Among the many initiatives in its study, is a recommendation to open infantry and armor units to women; the study said that women should be allowed into male-only units to "create a level playing field" in promotions "for all service members who meet the qualifications."

Hardened Combat Veterans say that "direct ground combat" is not like an MP being subjected to exchange of small-arms gunfire with insurgents, or of military personnel being wounded by an IED when transiting in a convoy, or a service member being abducted by terrorists while on a patrol or on guard duty. There is a true lack of understanding of exactly what direct ground combat entails, what closing with and destroying an enemy combatant by the most violent means available is; often it is a direct eye-to-eye confrontation, then being required to employ upper-body physical strength that physically fit US Marines, US Army Rangers, or US Navy SEALs train for. Direct ground combat is defined as an action when opposing forces engage in violent, intense, close-in, hand to hand combat. According to former Commandant of the US Marine Corps, General Carl Mundy, units which are trained repeatedly into fine-tuned teams to engage and defeat the enemy directly, exist and operate on the basis of masculine cohesion. "I believe that female service members bring tremendous skills and talents to many sectors of our armed forces, but I believe equally strongly that they are not best suited for the unique demands associated with direct combat units."

Congressman Allen West as well as Congressman Duncan D. Hunter, 2 of the 12 endorsed Combat Veteran For Congress who were elected in the 2010 mid-term election

FAIR

Dear FAIR Supporter,

In a speech yesterday in El Paso, Texas, the president laid out his immigration vision for America, and unsurprisingly it includes amnesty for the estimated 13 million illegal aliens in the United States today. He tried to build his case by declaring that our southern border with Mexico is now safe and secure and that immigrants are key to our economic recovery. But we know otherwise.

First we know the U.S.-Mexico border is not secure. Only two days ago 13 people were killed in a drug cartel shootout on Falcon Lake-a lake that straddles the Texas-Mexico border. Last week, the Department of Homeland Security expanded its travel warning to Americans traveling to Mexico and this week's issue of FAIR's Legislative Update covers a story that reveals that smuggling along the southern border is so pervasive that federal prosecutors decline to prosecute many cases. That's not what I call a secure border.

El Paso Border

The truth is, we have an enormous amount of work to do to secure the border and restore legitimacy to our immigration system. Unfortunately, what we witnessed yesterday was a parade of recycled proposals that the American people have repeatedly rejected, done solely for political gain. Instead of pandering to special interest groups with temporary fixes, President Obama should be investing in the time, resources, and hard work necessary to make our immigration system work for Americans -- not for illegal aliens.

Here is what you can do today:

  • The White House is encouraging people to give their thoughts on the immigration issue. Give them your feedback, be courteous but firmly note that the border is not secure and Americans need leadership, not politicking.
  • Make sure to phone or email your Congressmen and state legislators and urge them to push for more border security, mandatory employment verification, and respect for our immigration laws.
  • Donate to FAIR today. Help us continue bringing you the latest information and news about this vital debate and push for sensible immigration enforcement at the federal, state and local levels.

We need your help now more than ever! The opposition is motivated and organized and, with nothing to lose, they will continue to push for amnesty legislation that will endanger this country's security and damage our future prospects. Thanks for your support and we hope that you will continue to visit our website for the very latest about our national immigration debate.

Dan Stein, FAIR President

Fishermen Say Regulations Destroying Industry

Federal Team Reviews Effects Of Regulations

POSTED: 5:39 pm EDT May 10, 2011

Fishermen on New Hampshire's Seacoast are warning that new fishing regulations could destroy their industry and have already caused them severe emotional stress. The U.S. Department of Commerce has sent a team to Seabrook to look at the effects of the new regulations."If they don't do something to modify the fishing regulations, we won't have a fishing industry on the Seacoast, is what it boils down to," said Hampton Town Manager Fred Welch. Many in the fishing industry said they want the federal team to do more than its stated task of creating an economic development assessment report. The team is spending three days in Seabrook and visiting five other New England fishing towns.

Accusing someone of lying is a serious matter. Especially when that someone is the President of the United States. Charges of that nature should be leveled based only on absolute proof of a deliberate statement, intentionally made, whose sole purpose is to deceive. Based on this criteria, President Obama is a liar. Demonstrably so. And a disturbing pattern is emerging that allows for the possibility that our president is a serial liar. Consider:

South Carolina Taking Light Bulb Ban into Its Own Hands

Posted May 9th, 2011

Light bulb glowing in hand

Fed up with the federal government's ban of the traditional incandescent light bulb, state representatives in South Carolina are pushing for the state to produce and use incandescents solely for its state.

The Incandescent Light Bulb Freedom Act, which unanimously passed South Carolina's Senate panel, would allow South Carolina manufacturers to continue to sell incandescent bulbs so long as they have "Made in South Carolina" on them and are sold only within the state. Other states have floated the idea, and last year Arizona passed a bill that would have done the same thing, but Governor Jan Brewer (R) vetoed the legislation.

Budget Plan

A group of nine Senate Republicans that includes some tea-party-backed lawmakers unveiled a proposal to balance the budget by fiscal 2020 by reducing spending to 18.5 percent of the gross domestic product from the current 24 percent of GDP and turn Medicaid into a block grant program.
"Deficits are not inevitable," said Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., at a press conference on Tuesday. "They can be stopped if we in Congress have the will to stop them."
The Toomey plan is co-sponsored by freshman Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Mike Lee, R-Utah, as well as tea-party favorite Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C. It comes as Senate Budget Chairman Kent Conrad, D-N.D., is planning to unveil his fiscal 2012 budget resolution, which is expected to cut $4 trillion from the deficit over 10 years.

Newt
Gingrich's
route:
Leave

behind

Photo of Newt Gingrich

For Newt Gingrich, who will announce his candidacy Wednesday, the road to the Republican nomination runs through Iowa . . . . . . and New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada and Florida.
Unlike some of his likely rivals, who are looking to downplay or even flat out skip some states on the primary calendar, Gingrich is headed down a different path, a more traditional route in which he competes aggressively all across the early-state map and among all blocs within the party.
In Iowa, Gingrich has almost precisely the opposite problem as Tim Pawlenty, who is also working hard there. Both are lagging in early-state polls, but the former Minnesota governor's status can be mostly chalked up to his lack of name identification among GOP activists. Gingrich, however, faces what may ultimately be a more daunting task. He enjoys almost universal recognition among primary voters but must convince them that he's not just the '90s-era-leader-turned-Fox-News-commentator but also a potential president in 2012.         Herman Cain is probably the most interesting candidate so far for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
He's a charismatic Tea Party and Obama-bashing African American who won (according to polls by Fox, which hosted the debate) the first GOP presidential debate.
He also spent 10 years as the CEO of Godfather's Pizza, which he returned to profitability shortly after he took charge. Before that, he achieved tremendous success with a chain of Burger King stores in the Philadelphia region.
On Obama, Cain said his administration is "the worst in current history."
On his own business experience, he said he is a problem solver -- he defines the right problem, assigns the right priority, and surrounds himself with the right people.
On the fact he's never held a public office before, he said most Washington, D.C. politicians have held public office before and they're doing a terrible job. [International Business Times, May 10]

Yesterday Obama Flew to El Paso to Mock and Belittle Those Who Favor Tighter Borders

Again! Pres. Obama Promises New Push For Amnesty for Illegal Aliens

Yesterday, in El Paso, Texas, the president made a speech about border security and the need to liberalize our immigration system.

According to Obama, America needs even higher immigration!

(Note to the White House: Before the next immigration speech, please ask some of the 22 million Americans who can't find full time work if we need more immigrant labor!)

The El Paso speech was reported in practically every newspaper as being an obvious attempt to court Hispanic voters for his reelection.

According to his speech, border security has now been effectively achieved.

Well, that's news to the GAO, which says that illegal aliens can only be stopped along 129 miles of our nearly 2,000 mile long border with Mexico and along only 2 miles of our nearly 4,000 mile long border with Canada!

Obama didn't stop at misleading and exaggerated statements about progress on the border. NO -- the president felt it necessary to MOCK and BELITTLE people like you and me who demand more steps be taken to secure that border.

Here's a quote from the Associated Press article published yesterday about the speech:

"Maybe they need a moat," Obama said mockingly to laughter from the crowd. "Maybe they'll want alligators in the moat"

Since enough progress has been made on the border -- says Obama -- Congress should proceed to, what else, pass a mass amnesty for 11 to 18 million illegal aliens already here. Unbelievable!

Then, Obama went on to give a new argument for amnesty: It will help America's middle class! What do you think about that? Will it help you and your family?

In tight coordination with the White House, yesterday Sen. Dick Durbin (D, IL) said he would re-introduce the detested and dangerous DREAM Act, which would amnesty just about every illegal alien under age 30 and allow them to amnesty their adult relatives -- with no enforcement provisions whatsoever!!

So, as Ronald Reagan used to say, "There you go again!" Always back to amnesty. Always back to the DREAM Act. Always the misleading claims about the border.

Please, read this carefully -- Don't Let Him Win!!

We need millions of faxes and thousands of phone calls going up to Congress and to the White House to pop this balloon. This costs money. A lot of money!

Did you know that only 7% of our members EVER make a financial contribution. Those few have to pay for everyone else

.

If you have not yet made a donation to help send our faxes, please hit that red button now.

We're so close to getting full floor votes on several positive immigration-related bills -- from Rep. Goodlatte's bill to end the visa lottery to Rep. Carter's bill to mandate the use of E-Verify -- that we cannot afford to let the pro-amnesty forces in Congress make up any ground. We need to keep sending faxes and we need to keep knocking on Congressman's doors and we can't do this without your help.

There are four ways to give:

1) On-line credit card (we take all major cards);

2) Give byPayPal;

3) Check -- see the instructions and a form to print out and send with your check;

4) Call (877) 885-7733 to arrange a wire transfer, stock donation, or to make a credit card donation over the phone. If our office is closed, please leave the time and your phone number and we will call back.

Ask State Senators to Oppose Anti-REAL ID Legislation

This is a special message for NumbersUSA members in Pennsylvania.

Dear Pennsylvania activist;

On Wednesday, May 11th the Penn. Senate Communications and Technology Committee will hold a hearing on SB 354, a bill to prohibit the state's involvement in the federal REAL ID program. The Coalition for a Secure Driver’s License tells us that the real purpose of the bill is to allow illegal aliens who have Pennsylvania driver's licenses to continue to renew them under the state's loose procedures.

Please call and email the committee members noted below with the message:

"Please vote no on SB 354, the anti-REAL ID Act bill. Repealing requirements for proof of identity and proof that applicants are lawfully present threatens Pennsylvania residents and the nation."

Additional Talking Points

Let's face it, giving drivers licenses to all comers is a dangerous security risk. Eighteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers obtained state-issued IDs that enabled them to embed in the U.S. and more easily board planes.

Driver's licenses remain a tool sought by terrorists. Earlier this year, the FBI revealed that a foreign national, ostensibly a student, had entered the U.S. for the purpose of committing major terrorist acts. His targets included former President Bush's home and key infrastructure sites. The foreign national intended to use multiple state-issued driver's licenses to facilitate his plans.

Proponents of SB 354 are spreading false information about REAL ID in order to gain support for the bill. For example, contrary to what proponents say, REAL ID doe not require biometric and RFID chips. Also, contrary to their claims, REAL ID is not a pre-cursor to a national ID card. In fact, it's the best defense against government forcing a national ID card on citizens.

REAL ID does not create a centralized federal database containing personal information about all Americans from which information can be shared without any controls. Each state's DMV would maintain driver information, just as they do now.

REAL ID licenses do not contain personal economic data. §202(b)5 (page 5273 Federal Register, 1-29-08) of the REAL ID Act directs that REAL ID compliant cards contain only the following information: applicant's full legal name, date of birth, and gender; driver's license or identification card number; a digital photograph of the applicant; the applicant's address of principal residence; and the applicant's signature.

SB 354 is a Trojan horse designed to give illegal aliens access to Pennsylvania driver's licenses. Please oppose the bill.

It's Time for Congress to Vote on The Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011

For weeks now, Congress has debated President Obama's big government energy agenda and specifically, his continued efforts to implement a backdoor cap and trade scheme through the massive EPA bureaucracy that he controls.

Energy prices, including ever-skyrocketing gasoline prices at the pump, continue to climb in the wake of Obama's irresponsible actions and it is clear that NOW is the time for Congress to act.

TAKE ACTION!

The Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011 (S. 482 in the Senate & H.R. 910 in the House), authored by Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) and Representative Fred Upton (R, MI-6), would stop Obama's cap and trade scheme by completely stripping the EPA of its ability to use the 'Clean Air Act' to regulate greenhouse gases. This is important legislation that would take serious steps towards addressing high energy cost s and ensuring America's energy security.

The U.S. House of Representatives took the first step and passed H.R. 910. Thanks to grassroots pressure from limited-government activists like you, this legislation passed by an overwhelming margin...but now the battle moves to the U.S. Senate.

It's time to demand that the Senate hold a vote on The Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011.

Use FreedomWorks online action center: CLICK HERE to send an urgent message to your Senators on this important issue and CLICK HERE to use our online phone system to call their offices toll free. Tell them that the Inhofe-Upton Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011 is critical to stopping the threat of spiraling energy costs and urge them to vote on -- and vote for -- this bill!

Momentum is building towards ending Obam a's backdoor cap and trade scheme once and for all, but your help is needed to see this fight through to the end.

Sincerely,

Armey Signature
Dick Armey
Chairman, FreedomWorks

P.S. The EPA is just one of many examples of Obama Administration overreach, and FreedomWorks has to maintain the fight on every front. As you can imagine, that comes at a price. Please won't you consider a contribution -- large or small -- to support our work in defense of freedom?

Obama approval hits 60 percent

Bullstein

President Barack Obama's approval rating has hit its highest point in two years - 60 percent - and more than half of Americans now say he deserves to be re-elected, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll taken after U.S. forces killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

In worrisome signs for Republicans, the president's standing improved not just on foreign policy but also on the economy, and independent Americans - a key voting bloc in the November 2012 presidential election - caused the overall uptick in support by sliding back to Obama after fleeing for much of the past two years.

Report: Up to 44m uninsured under GOP budget

Time to scare people with the budget

The House Republican budget would leave up to 44 million more low-income people uninsured as the federal government cuts states' Medicaid funding by about one-third over the next 10 years, nonpartisan groups said in a report issued Tuesday.

The analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Urban Institute concluded that Medicaid's role as the nation's safety net health care program would be "significantly compromised ... with no obvious alternative to take its place," if the GOP budget is adopted.

SF to install 80 electric car charging stations

Only $500K taxpayer dollars

San Francisco will install more than 80 free charging stations for electric vehicles by the end of the year, as part of City Hall's eco-friendly resolve to reduce air pollution.

Monday's announcement by Mayor Ed Lee came as the average price for a gallon of gas in San Francisco hit the $4.32 mark - $1.09 higher than a year ago, according to data tracked by the AAA auto club. That's a dramatic price escalation expected to drive the public's appetite for more fuel-efficient cars.

Vets oppose bill that would raise health care fees

Vets to pay for for TriCare

Health care fees for working-age military retirees would increase slightly under a defense bill unveiled Monday that drew fierce opposition from the 2.1 million-strong Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Pentagon is reeling from health care costs that have jumped from $19 billion in 2001 to $53 billion in the latest budget request. Determined to slash expenses, President Barack Obama is seeking a boost in fees that have remained unchanged for 11 years.

Obama mocks Republicans position on immigration

Hilarious

In search of Hispanic votes and a long-shot immigration overhaul, President Barack Obama on Tuesday stood at the U.S.-Mexico border for the first time since winning the White House and declared it more secure than ever. He mocked Republican lawmakers for blocking immigration over border security alone, saying they won't be happy until they get a moat with alligators along the border.  "They'll never be satisfied," he said.

Stymied by both chambers of Congress, the president ditched lawmakers in favor of voters who might pressure them, making an appeal to the public on a hot and dusty day far outside Washington. He told a friendly El Paso crowd that it's up to them to tell Congress to pass legislation providing a pathway to citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants.

The Postal Service is continuing to hemorrhage money, reporting a loss Tuesday of more than $2 billion over the first three months of the year and warning it could be forced to default on federal payments.

Such a default would not interrupt mail service to millions of Americans, but it could further hobble an agency struggling with a sharp decline in mail because of the Internet and a tough economy.

Pakistan hints China wants a peek at secret helicopter

Pakistani officials said today they're interested in studying the remains of the U.S.'s secret stealth-modified helicopter abandoned during the Navy SEAL raid of Osama bin Laden's compound, and suggested the Chinese are as well.

The U.S. has already asked the Pakistanis for the helicopter wreckage back, but one Pakistani official told ABC News the Chinese were also "very interested" in seeing the remains. Another official said, "We might let them [the Chinese] take a look."

Illegal Immigration Is No Laughing Matter

The White House correspondents' dinner might have been two weeks ago, but President Barack Obama continued his comedy routine yesterday in El Paso, Texas, only this time Donald Trump wasn't the butt of the jokes. Instead, during a speech on immigration, the president mocked Republicans at large, the rule of law, and any American who takes the defense of our nation seriously.

Respectfully, Mr. President, illegal immigration and border security are no laughing matter.

Glenn: Jerusalem 'beginning of the end' for man's freedom

There is so much going on in the world right now - oil crisis, high unemployment, out of control government. So why is Glenn spending time focusing on Israel? Because, he explains, Jerusalem is the 'beginning of the end' for man's freedom around the globe. The world is uniting to force Israel into a 'two-state solution' which Glenn believes would spell the end of Israel -- but Israel is only one of the two that Satan's radicals want to destroy. Who is the other? Glenn explains that and more on radio today

Why is it ok to assassinate, but not waterboard?

Chris Wallace has a fantastic exchange with an Obama administration official who gets tripped up in the folly of their policies. Wallace pins him down when asking why it's okay to shoot bin Laden, but not okay to waterboard? The official tries to stick to his stock answers, but it's clearly not enough for Wallace as he continues to hammer him on this point. Glenn plays the clip and reacts on radio today. WATCH

Osama's son might sue USA

One of Osama bin Laden's sons has quite the nerve, complaining publicly that the way the U.S. disposed of the terrorist dirtbag 'demeans' the bin Laden family. He even suggested that the family might sue the United States. If that's the case he better hope the jury is Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky, & Rosie O'Donnell -- that's not officially 12 but probably close enough. Read more on what Obama's son said HERE.

Change: anti-cop rapper welcomed at White House

The White House caused quite a bit of controversy when they invited a rapper to attend a poetry event whose rhymes sometimes talk about killing cops. The NJ State police are not happy about the invite - why? Glenn has the lyrics and history of the controversial rapper who is loved by the White House - check it out at GlennBeck.com.
