"It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth -- and listen to the song of that syren, till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those, who having eyes, see not, and having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it might cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it"

USS Michael Murphy: Navy Warship Christened in Name of Hero Navy SEAL Killed in Afghanistan
The Blaze | by Scott Baker | Posted on May 8, 2011
BATH, Maine (AP) - The mother of a Navy SEAL killed in a firefight in Afghanistan christened a warship bearing her son's name on Saturday as the leader of the nation's special forces said those who died that day would be comforted to know that the al-Qaida leader who caused the war in Afghanistan was killed by the U.S. military.
Maureen Murphy, mother of Lt. Michael Murphy, said "Happy birthday, baby" during remarks from the podium minutes before smashing a bottle of Champagne against the bow of the Navy destroyer on what would've been her son's 35th birthday.

Tea Party PAC Endorses John Featherman In Mayoral Primary;
Calls Karen Brown's Candidacy Questionable At Best
Philadelphia, PA (May 4, 2011) -- The Independence Hall Tea Party PAC Board of Directors voted overwhelmingly, last night, to endorse John Featherman in the May 17, 2011 Republican Mayoral Primary.
This marks only the second time the PAC has endorsed a candidate in a non-federal election.
"First and foremost, this endorsement speaks to the intelligence and credibility that John Featherman brings to the table," said PAC President, Don Adams.
"We agree with much of his platform, especially his commitment to enacting School Choice and his pledge to cut the city sales tax, as well as the real estate transfer tax.
"Obviously, we are sending a message to the Philadelphia Republican City Committee that we disapprove of their support for Karen Brown, an unknown, inexperienced candidate who was a registered Democrat through January of this year," said Mr. Adams.
"Why would the Committee support a candidate from the opposing party--especially one with such a limited grasp of the issues--over an elected Republican Committeeman with Mr. Featherman's business background and political acumen?"
Mr. Featherman, an award winning real estate agent with Prudential Fox & Roach, holds an MBA from Columbia University.
"John Featherman would like to eliminate the gross receipts tax to bring more business into the city, thereby creating jobs," said PAC Board Member and Philadelphia resident, Lin DeCesare.
"He also intends to bid out all legally permissible city services, which would save the city millions of dollars.
"John is man of ideas and principles. We are proud to endorse his candidacy and will be working on his behalf now through election day," said Ms. DeCesare.
(In March of this year, the PAC voted unanimously to endorse Patti Weaver, a founder of the Pittsburgh Tea Movement, for Allegheny County Executive. Ms. Weaver has since withdrawn her candidacy and her name will not appear on the ballot. Her endorsement was the first non-federal PAC endorsement.)

Michael J. Totten
Why Lebanon Matters
As revolutions and uprisings overtake the Middle East-with Western forces in Libya, Basher Assad crushing Syrian rebels, and Egypt under tension-does little Lebanon matter?
Very much so, argues Michael J. Totten, a foreign correspondent noted for his behind-the scenes conversations with many key players in the region-including Hezbollah.
His new and insightful book, The Road to Fatima Gate, offers Totten's first hand experiences of the 2005 Cedar Revolution, the devastating 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, and the latter's progressive assault on Lebanon's elected government.
A noted journalist-his work has appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Jerusalem Post and many other publications-Totten will offer a sobering assessment of Lebanon and its overlooked significance in Middle East politics.

Police Find IED Near Amtrak rail in Chester, Pa
A new chapter of terror begins in America:
Police: IED Found Near Chester Train Tracks CBS Philly hat tip Armaros CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) - Chester police are urging vigilance after they found an improvised explosive device, this afternoon, near Amtrak and Septa railroad tracks and the Commodore Barry Bridge. Police say the device consisted of two bottles with a yellow liquid inside. They say one had a timer and wires attached by duct tape. Police were not sure if the device was really explosive but evacuated the area as a precaution. The Delaware County bomb squad determined that it was and disarmed it. The device was found about 2 p.m., near third and Reaney Streets. That's underneath the bridge and not far from the tracks Septa's Wilmington-Newark line uses. An investigation is underway.

RedState Morning Briefing
For May 9, 2011
1. Wasserman Schultz: 'We've really concentrated' on oil production
There was an undeniable uptick in U.S. oil production in 2009 and 2010.
But new DNC chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) tried to take credit for it:
"Like I said, domestic oil production is at its highest point in recent years. So we've actually really concentrated on that."
Democrats patting themselves on the back for oil production increases?
Ba. Lo. Ney.
With all due respect.
2. Obama Winds Down the War on Terror
The killing of Osama bin Laden has created a series of dilemmas for the left. My colleagues have detailed the debt owed the Bush Administration which the current administration juvenilely and churlishly refuses to acknowledge ( here | here). And many on my side are willing "to give the president credit" for doing his duty. According to reports bin Laden's location has been known to the administration since March with the same degree of certainty that existed on May 1, so I fail to see what credit is really due unless we are saying that indecisiveness is a virtue.
Bin Laden's death will eventually be seen as the unofficial end of the US assault on al Qaeda. We will leave a war not won and forsake a victory that would make the world a safer place simply because Barack Obama doesn't have the guts to prevail. What is worse, he wants to give the impression of being serious.
3. It's Not Just Amateur Hour at the White House
There are two stories out today that suggest it is not just amateur hour at the White House where five days after Osama Bin Laden went to sleep with Davy Jones there are still more questions than answers.
No, it is also amateur hour in the House of Representatives. Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI) is declaring the fight to repeal Obamacare over. That's right. He's giving up. They won't pick a fight.
If that were not stupid enough, Camp said that "Instead ... the GOP would turn its focus to overturning the most controversial portion of that legislation: the mandate requiring individuals to buy insurance."
If the House GOP is successful in repealing the individual mandate, the case from Florida that threw out the entire legislation would die before getting to the Supreme Court. The GOP would yet again have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
4. Craig Becker is a Natural Fit in a Socialist Administration
The other night in the Luntz panel after the Fox debate, Luntz seemed taken aback that his panel of voters largely viewed the Obama Administration as socialist.
Only effete intellectuals keen on nuancing socialism could disagree at this point. As socialism is commonly understood, i.e. spreading the wealth around through government intervention, Barack Obama is a socialist and his administration is a socialist administration.
So it is no surprise that we are learning Craig Becker, a Presidential appointee to the National Labor Relations Board and a key player in screwing Boeing for moving the 787 assembly line to South Carolina, has a paper trail of socialist views going all the way back to college.
5. An Interesting Coincidence?
A week ago, the Wall Street Journal ran a big story about major hedge fund managers jumping to the GOP from Barack Obama. One of the big jumpers is Steve Cohen.
The Wall Street Journal is now reporting federal prosecutors have suddenly decided to examine "trades made in an account overseen by hedge-fund titan Steven Cohen that were suggested by two of his former fund managers who have pleaded guilty to insider trading."
I'm sure it is just a coincidence in timing.
6. ThinkProgress pig-ignorant about military.
Legal Insurrection tipped me to this one: apparently, ThinkProgress (link available via Legal Insurrection) got itself in a bit of a tizzy over a story in the Mexican press that one of the Navy SEALs that killed Osama bin Laden was the son of Mexican immigrants, which apparently means (according to TP) that we need to pass the DREAM Act* and that the military is by the way keeping Latinos down. Now, let's establish something right off of the bat; I don't know who was on that SEAL team, and it would not surprise me in the slightest to hear that one or more of them were of Latino ancestry. Or any other ancestry, frankly. That's not the point: the point is that when you're a hardcore partisan ideologue using a story for agitprop, you should probably check the story first to make sure that you don't get burned.
ThinkProgress did not check the story first.
7. Permit me to correct the New York Times.
A few days ago, the New York Times made the following (somewhat bitter) comment, in the process of trying to pretend that we're all racists over here on the Right:
"[Obama's] administration took too long to find its footing on Egypt's transition and in Libya, but it was not because, as the popular conservative blog RedState said, he is a 'trainee president.'"
A point of order, here: if you were to click on the link (post written by reader cmndr45*) then you will find that this was a diary, not a front page piece. This is a common error made by Old Media types, particularly ones who have difficulty adapting to New Media paradigms; the concept that there can be controllable tiers of of information dissemination privileges can be surprisingly hard to understand by those with insufficient mental flexibility. I note all of this because Old Media entities already are notoriously bad at telling writers on group websites and blogs apart: it's best that we not allow them to start failing to distinguish between various levels of permitted access.
Still, perish the thought that we should have to wait several decades for the Old Grey Lady to get around to a correction, so here goes: President Barack Obama is in point of fact a trainee President with virtually no practical life skills, woefully inadequate inexperience, precious little in the way of a proper aptitude for governance, and - most annoying - an inherent unwillingness to change any of the above, or in fact partake in any sort of internal program of either self-discovery, or self-improvement.
8. Obama has Green Dreams of Car Taxes
There seems to be no shortage of ways that this administration and the Democrat party can think of to tax away every bit of our nation's prosperity. But the "car tax" simply defies logic and begs the question, "What are they thinking?" Aside from their apparent love of taxation, what is the underlying reason this administration would want to levy more taxes on America's driving? Environmentalism? Money for infrastructure investment? Justify more hires at the IRS?

Quote the wisdom of Al "unpopular" Gore: |
"The presidency is more than just a popularity contest." |
Explain to a liberal the real reason why Democrats are so keen to reintroduce the Fairness Doctrine. |
Because liberals make such uninspiring radio broadcasters, the only way they'll ever get commercial airtime is by government diktat. Almost every popular broadcaster is a conservative: Rush Limbaugh, G. Gordon Liddy, Michael Savage, Bill O'Reilly, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin... The long and undistinguished list of liberals who have had their radio shows cancelled due to lack of listener interest includes ex-New York mayor Ed Koch, ex-California governor Jerry Brown, Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, actress Janeane Garofalo, ex-presidential candidate Gary Hart... |

UPDATE: NavySEAL Adam Brown & the US Military
The heroic story of Adam Brown was first released Friday, April 29, 2011. He was a Navy SEAL that gave his life so that we could be free. On May 1, 2011, after almost a decade of hunting down the enemy, the Navy SEALS successfully took down the man that caused the loss of Adam Brown & so many others. Adam Brown's friends & family cannot help but think about how Adam is smiling down from heaven because of this victory. It could not have happened at a more perfect time... than the same weekend that we all paid tribute to a fallen Navy SEAL. Thank you so much to all of our military... you all are the REAL HEROS!!! PLEASE NOTE: Pay close attention to the part where the speaker begins talking about heros. I love the "subliminal message" used during the statement about those who run to the cameras when victory has been done. You & I both know they are directing that comment to Obama! I LOVE IT!!!

Time to Thank "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques"
Posted by Alan W. Dowd on May 6th, 2011 and filed under Daily Mailer, FrontPage. Alan W. Dowd writes on defense and security issues.

The successes of the CIA and other intelligence agencies, the old saying goes, are never known and the failures are never forgotten. The takedown of Osama bin Laden by Navy SEALs, who were guided onto their target by the work of hundreds of intelligence officers around the world, is a welcome exception to this rule. In a similar way, the successful strike on bin Laden forces us to take a fresh look at the notion that enhanced interrogation techniques (EITs) are not useful or effective. If recent comments from high-level officials are any indication, EITs played an important part in the hunt for and elimination of the terror mastermind.

Feds Issue Train Alert Based on bin Laden Lair Info
Federal officials sent law enforcement officials a warning that al-Qaida may be targeting trains in the United States, based on information gleaned from documents at Osama bin Laden's compound after the world's top terrorist was killed.
The Homeland Security advisory tells law enforcement officials to be vigilant about train security. The missive is general and precautionary in nature because the information dates back more than a year, and no recent intelligence indicates that such a plot is active, officials said.
Federal officials say they have not found reference to specific plots, NBC News reported. But they discovered what they described as "aspirational" items - events al-Qaida operatives were interested in trying to make happen.
As that of February 2010, the terror organization was considering tampering with an unspecified U.S. rail track so that a train would fall off the track at a valley or a bridge, the Homeland Security advisory said.
This information appears to be the first widely circulated intelligence pulled from the May 1 raid on bin Laden's lair in Pakistan. After killing bin Laden, Navy SEALs took computers, DVDs, and documents from his house.

White House Wants to Track and Tax Your Mileage
Thursday, 05 May 2011 05:43 PM
By David A. Patten
Conservative economists, commentators, and politicians are blasting a draft Obama administration plan that envisions using Big Brother-like tracking devices on private cars to tax drivers on how many miles they travel. The new tax scheme, designed to help fund transportation spending, would determine your mileage by installing electronic equipment on your car. This would involve monitoring your location and how far you've traveled. Fox host Lou Dobbs offered this reaction to the trial balloon on his radio show Thursday: "We've got an effective unemployment rate of nearly 17 percent in this country, and these idiots want to tax car mileage. It's nuts, what they want to do," he said. READ MORE:
Bush Attorney General Slams Obama Terror Policies
Friday, May 6, 2011
By: Andra Varin
The killing of Osama bin Laden was a great victory for the U.S. intelligence community, but it may well be the last one because of the Obama administration's refusal to use tough tactics such as waterboarding on terror suspects, former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey warns.
The information that led U.S. agents to bin Laden could not have been obtained without stringent interrogation methods, Mukasey writes in The Wall Street Journal.

Intelligence Officials: More Warnings of al-Qaida Terror Plots Coming
Sunday, 08 May 2011 08:42 PM
By Ronald Kessler
The FBI Laboratory has custody of the more than 100 items seized in the raid of Osama bin Laden's compound, and clues from this material will likely lead to warnings of more al-Qaida plots, intelligence officials tell Newsmax.
The bureau played a key role in helping to train U.S. Navy SEALs for their mission, focusing on the commandos' task of gathering evidence about al-Qaida in the compound. After 9/11, the FBI took on the role of safeguarding any material seized in U.S. counterterrorism actions around the globe. It helped to preserve the chain of custody should the material be presented as evidence in a prosecution by the U.S. or by other countries. In addition, the FBI is in the best position to analyze fingerprints, DNA traces, and handwriting.

Listen to what the former Israeli spy and Son of Hamas author says when he speaks Arabic: it's clear he's more double agent than turncoat.
by Walid Shoebat, PAJAMAS MEDIA
While a prisoner of Israel in 1996, Mosab Hassan Yousef - the son of Sheik Hassan Yousef, a founding member of Hamas - was approached by Shin Bet agents who looked to recruit him to spy within Hamas. He agreed. Mosab's information soon had Shin Bet calling him "the most reliable source in the Hamas leadership," and Israeli lives were undoubtedly saved as a result of Mosab's collaboration.
Despite this success, Yousef has since revealed himself to be more double agent than turncoat.
During the initial contact within Israel's Maskubia (Jerusalem's central prison), Mosab agreed to collaborate in exchange for Israel not targeting his father. After years of providing valuable intelligence, in 2007 Mosab declared his conversion to Christianity, moved to California, and went public with his story....

Good News And Bad News
There is good news and bad news in today's jobs report. The good news is that 244,000 net new jobs were created last month. This exceeded economists' expectations of 180,000 new jobs and suggests that economic conditions are improving, albeit slowly.
The bad news is that the economy needs to create at least 250,000 jobs per month to lower the unemployment rate. And the unemployment rate did in fact rise to 9%, while the "real" unemployment rate, which also includes part-time workers seeking full-time employment, increased to 15.9%. By the way, a year ago Joe Biden predicted that Obama's stimulus spending would by now be creating 500,000 jobs a month! How's that working out for you, Joe?
The economy may be improving, but it is a fragile recovery that could easily reverse itself. How long can consumers sustain current spending levels if gas prices exceed $4.00 a gallon nationally?
This news underscores the deep concern about the economy as I noted in yesterday's report. The euphoria of Osama bin Laden's death will soon fade as the reality of high gas prices, falling home values and long-term unemployment continues to ravage families across the country.
White House Bungled Post-Mission Messaging
Big media, which was quick to hail President Obama as a tough, decisive commander-in-chief after news of bin Laden's death broke, is starting to vent its frustration with the White House over its handling of information after the SEAL raid. In the days following Sunday night's surprise announcement, there have been multiple explanations and revisions of exactly what took place at the Abbottabad compound. Consider these remarks from the National Journal's Major Garrett:
"I believe the administration should be justifiably criticized for the ham-handed nature of telling this story. This is the most serious military operation this country has engaged in in a decade. It should be told once with precision and clarity for everyone. And they didn't do that and it's their fault.
"That's not a partisan statement at all. This is a responsibility of the government to explain what happened and if it takes time to make that explanation, and if takes time to build a -- and not a narrative, I'm sorry. I resent that phrase, entirely. These are facts. Governments dispense facts or should, not narratives. And the time should have been taken to put the facts together and explain them once."
Garrett makes a valid point. The courage of our SEALs in executing the mission, and the competence of our military in planning the mission, starkly contrasted with the "ham-handed" way in which the White House rushed to disseminate what turned out to be inaccurate information.
In addition, some are critical of the White House's eagerness to expose the mission. For example, Oliver North suggested that President Obama should not have been so quick to announce bin Laden's death. We were also informed that the SEALs captured a "treasure trove" of intelligence from bin Laden's compound. That fact did not need to be reported so soon either.
With another day or two of secrecy, it is possible that we might have tracked down bin Laden's top lieutenants, such as Ayman al-Zawahri, too. I am confident we will get him eventually.
Yes, bin Laden's death would have leaked out of Pakistan at some point. But Al Qaeda is just now getting around to admitting he is dead. And the Pakistani government, as embarrassed as it is, would be in no rush to admit he had been hiding in their backyard all this time.
A simple statement from the president saying, "I can neither confirm nor deny those reports" would have sufficed until we were confident that the intelligence had been thoroughly exploited. But having surrendered the element of surprise, who knows what else Obama surrendered in his rush to take credit for bin Laden's demise.
Burlingame vs. Obama
President Obama met with 9/11 families yesterday at Ground Zero. While there, Debra Burlingame, sister of Charles "Chic" Burlingame, who was the pilot murdered by the jihadists on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon, confronted the president about the possible prosecution of CIA officers who participated in the "enhanced interrogations" of terrorist suspects. Here is excerpt of Burlingame's exchange with Obama:
BURLINGAME: "As a former attorney I know you can't tell the Attorney General what to do."
OBAMA: "No, I can't."
BURLINGAME: "But that shouldn't stop you from giving your opinion. We wouldn't be here today if they [the CIA officers] hadn't done their jobs. Can't you at least give them [the Justice Department] your opinion?"
OBAMA: "No I won't."
At that point, according to Burlingame, Obama turned his back on her and walked away.
It is unconscionable that the Obama Administration is still threatening to prosecute some of the brave men and women whose interrogation of alleged jihadist prisoners helped to take out Osama bin Laden. I'm proud of Ms. Burlingame for having the courage to confront the president.
By the way, Obama can tell his Attorney General to stop the prosecutions. As we know, Obama told Eric Holder not to defend the law defining marriage in America as the union of one man and one woman, and Holder willingly complied.
That this administration would neglect a common sense law while harassing our brave intelligence personnel who are trying to defend this country is an obvious example of its confused and misplaced priorities.

May Christians Preach Outside a Philadelphia Mosque?
By David J. Rusin
Law enforcement scrutiny, detainment by police, and a court date to answer trumped-up charges: these are the consequences of preaching Christianity to Muslims not only throughout much of the Islamic world, but sometimes even in America as well. The most infamous example occurred last June, when four missionaries from Acts 17 Apologetics were arrested and charged with breach of peace while they calmly discussed their faith with Muslims at the Arab International Festival in Dearborn, Michigan. Armed with self-recorded video showing that they had acted in a civil fashion, the Christians were vindicated by a jury several months later. An important but virtually unnoticed Philadelphia case from 2010 bears striking similarities to the one in Dearborn, including police shutting down religious speech directed toward Muslims and a prosecutor filing charges patently at odds with video evidence. Islamist Watch attended the trial, which offered a unique window into the battle to protect First Amendment rights in an era of hypersensitivity.

SEIU drops mask, goes full commie
May 6, 2011 - 11:10 am - by Zombie
A May Day rally in Los Angeles, co-sponsored by the SEIU and various communist groups, as well as other unions, reflected yet another step in the normalization of self-identified communist and socialist ideologies in the Obama era. Not only did the SEIU help to organize the rally in conjunction with communists, they marched side-by-side with communists, while union members carried communist flags, communists carried union signs, and altogether there was no real way to tell the two apart.
Southern California citizen journalist and photographer "Ringo" was on hand to record the day's events, and posted a full-length photo essay on his site Ringo's Pictures. To bring this important photo essay to a wider audience, I present here a small selection of Ringo's May Day pictures; visit his site to see dozens more photos from the rally.

When I tell people that public political rallies are more and more being led by communists and socialists, most folks simply don't believe me. Aw, come on, you're just giving decent protesters an extreme label, they say. No, actually, I'm not: The communists freely and proudly declare their affiliation.
And the SEIU has no problem marching arm-in-arm with them.
"Smash Capitalism" is a slogan the SEIU apparently endorses - or at least doesn't mind marching behind.

Sunday Open Thread: Motherhood Is Political
Big Journalism | Posted by Dana Loesch | May 8th, 2011
I've discussed this topic a lot all across the country, the wave of women, of mothers in political activism.
Why have so many mothers become so active?
Because motherhood is political.
I have two sons. One day they may hear the call of duty and enlist to fight for our liberty. One day they may be called upon to defend America's shores. They may decide to enter business or take up a trade. They may decide to have families of their own someday. I want them to have every opportunity available to them and I will stand against that which impedes on their rights. It's instinctual: my job as a mother is to raise up, nurture, and protect my children, to protect their interests, to protect the interests of my family. In a society where my first line of defense, my husband, has been compromised by the self-victimization of the female sex, I've volunteered to go to the front lines of this ideological battle and I do it for my children. I'm not the only one.

What Nancy Pelosi didn't want us to know until after the healthcare bill was passed.
Remember she said, "pass it and then read it!!." Here it is!
Subject:HB3200 - YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LIKE THIS....
At age 76 when you most need it, you are not eligible for cancer treatment
Judge Kithil of Marble Falls, TX - highlighted the most egregious pages of HB3200
Please read this........especially the reference to pages 58 & 59
JUDGE KITHIL wrote: ** Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.
** Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.
** Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).
** Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?)
** Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees.
** Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age.
** Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.
** Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years. (Death counseling..)
** Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order.
HAD ENOUGH???? Judge Kithil then goes on to identify:
"Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress. Members of Congress are already exempt from the Social Security system, and have a well-funded private plan that covers their retirement needs. If they were on our Social Security plan, I believe they would find a very quick 'fix' to make the plan financially sound for their future." - Honorable David Kithil of Marble Falls, Texas
All ofthe above should give you the point blank ammo you need to support your opposition to Obamacare. Please send this information on to all of your email contacts.

Tea Party Racists Love Cain
Posted by Max Tollens Jr on May 6, 2011
I just love listening to the Liberal talking heads and their media lapdogs who refuse to challenge them. If you listen to blabbermouths like Chris Matthews and others of his ilk, you would think that we Tea Party members have all been fitted for white robes and hoods. You would think we're all collecting fuel for the next cross burning and are preparing to start a race war.
I am of Hispanic heritage (and Catholic) so I would be as welcome at the next Klan or Neo-Nazi rally as would a Black Panther. In fact, I'm sure the Black Panthers wouldn't want my help in attempting to intimidate White voters either. Thank goodness the Tea Party will accept me amongst their "racist" ranks.
So why is it that so many Tea Party members were impressed with Herman Cain after last night's debate in South Carolina? I was under the impression that the Tea Party was racist because of their opposition to President Obama. If the Tea Party is opposed to Obama, why would they want to replace him with another Black President?
You already know the answer-why did the Tea Party support Allen West and Marco Rubio in Florida? Substance over style. These gentlemen clearly represent the America we know and love despite their differences from "White" America. Herman Cain is very much in the vein of West and Rubio, and I believe he would make a better President than the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
America is the land of opportunity, regardless of your skin color. We've elected our first Black President who has also turned out to be our most Socialist and polarizing President. We've broken the color barrier-now let's expand our horizons and vote for a President based on character instead of skin color.
FANNIE MAE LOSSES BIG IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2011-8.687 BILLION!
The Press Release:
WASHINGTON, DC - Fannie Mae (FNMA/OTC) today reported a net loss of $6.5 billion in the first quarter of 2011, compared to net income of $73 million in the fourth quarter of 2010 (which reflected a $1.2 billion reduction to credit-related expenses resulting from the successful resolution of certain outstanding repurchase requests), and a net loss of $11.5 billion in the first quarter of 2010. The change to a net loss in the first quarter of 2011 from net income in the fourth quarter was due to an increase in credit-related expenses, primarily driven by a decline in home prices during the quarter. The company estimates that, although home prices have improved in some geographic regions, home prices on a national basis declined by 1.8 percent in the first quarter of 2011, which had a direct and negative impact on its credit-related expenses. Substantially all of the company's credit-related expenses in the first quarter were related to the company's legacy (pre-2009) book of business. While the company continues to work through losses on its legacy book, it expects that the single-family loans it has acquired since January 2009 will be profitable over their lifetime.

Obama's 'Gangster Politics'
The president is about to order companies that do business with the federal government to disclose their political donations
By KIMBERLEY A. STRASSEL
President Obama has officially kicked off his 2012 re-election campaign, and don't Republicans know it. The president is expected any day now to sign an executive order that routs 70 years of efforts to get politics out of official federal business.
Under the order, all companies (and their officers) would be required to list their political donations as a condition to bidding for government contracts. Companies can bid and lose out for the sin of donating to Republicans. Or they can protect their livelihoods by halting donations to the GOP altogether-which is the White House's real aim. Think of it as "not-pay to play."

News You Can Use |
April Revenue Collections Ahead of Projection As budget discussions continue in Harrisburg and across the Commonwealth, there was much-needed good fiscal news released this week from the Department of Revenue. April 2011 General Fund revenue collections showed a gain of $273 million over what had been projected, bringing fiscal year-to-date collections to $506 million ahead of projection.
Most of the Commonwealth's major revenue collection categories came in ahead of projections except non-tax revenue, which fell short by $28.6 million.
The House budget bill is expected to be introduced next week. This proposal will spur increased communications between the two legislative chambers and Gov. Tom Corbett. As always, I will keep you informed as budget negotiations continue.
To see the April Economic Brief in its entirety, please visit my website at RepQuinn.net and click on "Pennsylvania Economic Brief."
Welfare Reform Bills Pass House The Legislature is making substantial progress in its efforts to reform the way government operates and spends taxpayer monies. Included in this is a comprehensive welfare program reform package developed in response to Auditor General Jack Wagner's last annual audit report in which he identified various areas of recurring welfare error, fraud and abuse amounting to hundreds of millions of public dollars being misdirected each year. The bills described below are designed to ensure that taxpayer dollars are directed to only those who are qualified and most in need.
Eight bills are included in the welfare reform package:
· House Bill 1297, which would require random drug testing for welfare recipients who have previous felony drug convictions. · House Bill 1251, which updates Welfare Code penalties in Pennsylvania. · House Bill 1261, which deals with welfare benefits oversight, would ensure that eligible welfare applicants receive assistance based on levels authorized in their county of permanent legal residence. This will help eliminate "county shopping" by recipients. · House Bill 960, which creates an Income Eligibility Verification System in the Department of Public Welfare. This would provide a 19-point check on applicants' eligibility to ensure only those eligible for benefits receive them. · House Bill 1312, which would protect our "special allowance program" from ongoing fraud and abuse by creating a loan-based initiative geared toward helping welfare recipients become self-sufficient. · House Bill 1301, which would implement new guidelines and restrictions on the existing Medical Assistance Transportation Program to ensure services are not being abused and thus, tax dollars being wasted. · House Bill 392, which would require photo identification to ensure benefits are not misused. · House Bill 1254, which would prohibit the use of welfare-issued electronic benefit transfer cards (EBT) for the purchase of tobacco or tobacco-related products.
The public welfare program was designed to assist the Commonwealth's most vulnerable citizens and families in times of need. Through commonsense reforms, we can reduce welfare fraud, waste and abuse and strengthen the operation of this program going forward. These bills passed the House in late April, and currently await Senate action. For more information on the welfare system reform endeavor, visit PaHouseGOP.com.
Department of State Changes Passport Application Requirements The U.S. Department of State has made it mandatory for the full names of an applicant's parent or parents to be listed on ALL certified birth certificates for passport applicants, regardless of age. This is commonly referred to as the long-form birth certificate.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health is offering a grace period for free reissuance of long-form birth certificates from April 1 through June 30 for anyone who was issued a certificate after Jan. 14 that does not reflect the new requirements. After June 30, those requesting a reissued certificate must pay a $10 per copy fee in the form of check, money order, or veteran's information. The certified short-form birth certificate is still an acceptable and legitimate document for other issues including, school, Social Security, housing, employment, etc. The long-form birth certificate is ONLY needed for passports/travel.
Please feel free to contact my district office if you need assistance in obtaining birth certificates; or visit my website for instructions at RepQuinn.net.
Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) is a quasi-public agency, operating as a self-funded entity, without any tax revenues from either of its two jurisdictional states or the federal government. Funding for the operation, maintenance and upkeep of its bridges and other structures is solely derived from revenues collected at its' toll bridges. The commission is comprised of a board of 10 commissioners; five from each state. The New Jersey members are nominated by the governor and confirmed by the state Senate for three-year terms. The Pennsylvania members are appointed by the governor. As a member of Pennsylvania's House, I do not have a vote on any commission operations or decisions, including the price of tolls.
Commission-tolled bridges:
Milford-Montague Delaware Water Gap Portland-Columbia Toll Easton-Phillipsburg Toll I-78 Toll New Hope-Lambertville 202 Toll Morrisville Trenton US Rt. 1 Toll
Commission non-tolled bridges:
Portland-Columbia (Pedestrian) Easton-Phillipsburg (Northampton St.) Riegelsville Upper Black Eddy-Milford Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Lumberville-Raven Rock (Pedestrian) Centre Bridge-Stockton New Hope-Lambertville (Bridge St.) Washington Crossing Scudder Falls Calhoun Street Lower Trenton
The Board of Commissioners of the DRJTBC has approved an increase in tolls, effective July 1, 2011. Tolls will increase for passenger vehicles from 75 cents to $1, from $2.50 to $3.25 per axle for commercial two-axle vehicles, and to $4 from $3.25 per axle for trucks with three or more axles. The commission however, will still provide a discontinued toll rate for customers who use EZ-Pass - a 40% reduction resulting in a 60 cent toll. Also, the commission will maintain the off-peak discount for trucks with EZ-Pass. This 10 percent reduction results in a $2 savings for a five-axle truck (an 18-wheeler). For more information on the commission or its operations, please contact the Commission Customer Service line at 1-800-363-0049 or visit http://www.drjtbc.org/.
As always, I welcome your continued communications about issues that are important to you. Herman Cain wins 1st debate
WND columnist wows focus group on Fox
Herman Cain, who barely ranked in public-opinion polls among the Republican presidential challengers before tonight's televised debate in South Carolina, wowed a focus group of likely GOP voters assembled by pollster Frank Luntz.
Even Luntz said the reaction of the group was unprecedented in its unanimity - Cain won.
"In all the years I have been doing this, I have never seen a reaction like this to a debate," said Luntz. |

Obama adviser: American freedom, equality are just 'myths'
Muslim activist declared affinity for radicalism of Bill Ayers' Weather Underground movement
Posted: May 04, 2011
By Aaron Klein © 2011 WorldNetDaily
President Obama's faith adviser, Eboo Patel, blasted what he called the "myths" of America describing them as beliefs that the country is "a land of freedom and equality and justice."
Patel explained how he used the "faith-based movement" to channel his rage at America "in a direction far more compassionate and far more merciful."
Patel, a Muslim activist from Chicago, further implied that had he grown up in the 1960s, he may have joined the Weather Underground terrorist group led by William Ayers.
Like Obama, Patel is deeply tied to Ayers, WND has learned.

GOP clarifies: We're on same page By: Jake Sherman May 6, 2011 05:43 PM EDT |
House Republicans sought to clarify a week of disparate messaging on Medicare in a Friday evening press release, announcing they are on the same page and committed to reworking entitlement programs as part of the bill to raise the debt ceiling.
Top lawmakers in the House said in the statement that "everything must be on the table except increasing taxes."
The unified statement is in sharp contrast to the conflicting Republican statements that emerged this week on whether reforming Medicare will be part of debt ceiling talks, or a long-term goal.
"We are committed to our budget and to making the reforms necessary to grow our economy and create jobs, preserve and strengthen Medicare, and put our nation on a path to pay down the debt," the statement reads, adding that "this has been and remains the Republican position."
This week House Republicans lost their grip on messaging. The slipping started when a Washington Post story reported Majority Leader Eric Cantor planned to take Medicare off the table. The Post corrected a headline that Cantor's team said was misleading. |

10 Leftists Who Need Condolences on the Death of their Hero Osama bin Laden
Megan Fox is a stay-at-home mom, blogger, radio-talk show host and conservative folk-singer. Visit her at www.intolerantfox.com.

Inevitably, following the general pleasure at the news the Osama bin Laden is finally residing in Hell, it will come to light that certain members of the Left are quietly miserable over his passing. They are the ones for whom evil is not really definable, terror is in the eye of the beholder and America is always wrong. In other words, most of the hard Left and virtually the entire media elite. That's a pretty big list, so I thought I should narrow it down to the ones who will be the most despondent over this delightful news for America.
In accordance with the new tone of civility, NRB suggests you send a personal sympathy card to each grieving individual on the list. You can click here and email this highly appropriate condolencewith just the right touch of maudlin snark. (Contact information will be provided.)

The Waterboarding Trail to bin Laden
Former CIA Director Michael Hayden said that as late as 2006 fully half of the government's knowledge about the structure and activities of al Qaeda came from harsh interrogations..
The Wall Street Journal | By MICHAEL B. MUKASEY | MAY 6, 2011
| Khalid Sheikh Mohammed |
Osama bin Laden was killed by Americans, based on intelligence developed by Americans. That should bring great satisfaction to our citizens and elicit praise for our intelligence community. Seized along with bin Laden's corpse was a trove of documents and electronic devices that should yield intelligence that could help us capture or kill other terrorists and further degrade the capabilities of those who remain at large.
But policies put in place by the very administration that presided over this splendid success promise fewer such successes in the future. Those policies make it unlikely that we'll be able to get information from those whose identities are disclosed by the material seized from bin Laden. The administration also hounds our intelligence gatherers in ways that can only demoralize them.

On Friday's Program
GOP Debate = uninspiring
Last night's GOP debate was accurately described by Stu on radio this morning as having a spring training type vibe to it. The candidates seemed to be searching for the right presentation, and in the process probably made Obama feel quite comfortable about his chances in 2012. Glenn has the highlights from last night on radio today.
The Top 5 clips from the debate: WATCH
Next Reagan? Try Coolidge
Glenn notes how all the GOP Presidential hopefuls aspire in some way, shape, or form to be the next Ronald Reagan. Glenn contends on radio today that while Reagan was amazing, it's going to take a lot more than a Ronald Reagan wannabe to get us out of this mess. Glenn explains what qualities our next candidate should possess on radio today.
Unemployment hits 9.0%: There were 244,000 jobs added last month but the jobless rate climbed to 9%. Gas prices are still skyrocketing - will the media ever bother to notice? Get the report HERE.
