Osama bin Laden is dead

 A triumph in the war against Islamic terrorism!

On 9/11, I sat on my sofa, in shock, as my mind raced back to the day my home was bombed in Lebanon. Words cannot describe what I felt. I could not believe the Islamic jihadist terror I thought I had left behind in my home country had followed me to my country of adoption.

That day of infamy was the catalyst for me founding ACT! for America.

Last night, nearly ten years later, I watched the news in my hotel room that our brave Navy Seals and CIA paramilitary forces had killed bin Laden in a firefight in Pakistan. Once again, I felt at a loss for words, but this time overcome with pride for my adopted country.

I also rejoiced in the justice that has finally been delivered for the families of all the victims of 9/11.

The killing of Osama bin Laden has shown the world, and especially the world of Islamic jihad, that America has the will and the tenacity to fight this evil no matter how long it takes. As a native of the Middle East, I can tell you, the symbolism of bin Laden being taken out by American forces is a stunning blow of epic proportions to those who believe that jihad will triumph over America.

Last night, at a fundraising event for ACT! for America in Florida, I was asked, "how do we know when we win?"

The answer is not when our enemy signs a surrender document on an aircraft carrier, because this is a different war and a different enemy. The answer is, we win one step at a time, and the killing of bin Laden was an ENORMOUS step in that struggle to defeat the forces of jihad.

But there are other steps, many unnoticed, that tell me the tide is turning. For instance, just a few days ago we at ACT! for America received the following email from one of our members:

 America did not read this veteran's story in the news. But his story, and the stories we hear every week from our chapter leaders and members, inspire me and assure me that we do have the will to resist and defeat both violent jihad and stealth jihad. That we will not give in to terrorism or fear and that we will not, ever, ever, surrender to sharia law.

Every person who signs up for our email alerts...who makes a contribution...who becomes a chapter leader...is a victorious step toward an ultimate victory. Because every action each of us takes, combined with the actions others are taking, is powerful evidence that the jihadists are wrong, that America will fight jihad in whatever form it takes.

The Osama File: Case Closed

Osama bin Laden

Osama bin Laden was killed in Pakistan by Navy SEALs on Sunday and his remains were discarded at sea. The raid was conducted with little input from Pakistan.

Osama's death marks a long-awaited triumph for the United States, but it came much too late and at a very high price. Michael Scheuer, former CIA chief of the team hunting Osama bin Laden, confirmed with great disdain that SpecOps had not one but two opportunities to kill Osama before 9/11, however with Osama in their sights, Bill Clinton pulled the plug on both those operations. Consequently, the 9/11 jihadis settled into U.S. suburbs under Clinton's watch.

The success of this mission elevates the danger of terrorist attack on the continental U.S. because al-Qa'ida must now assert its relevance in the absence of its leader.

Announcing Osama's death, Barack Obama claimed that in the aftermath of 9/11, "no matter what God we prayed to ... we were united as one American family." Horse pucky. There were many instances of Muslims within the U.S. expressing elation over Osama's attack. Even Obama's "pastor" Jeremiah "GD America" Wright claimed, "White America got a wake-up call after 9/11. White America ... came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just disappeared as the great white West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns."

Obama took full credit for the kill, saying, "Shortly after taking office, I [made] the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority." Apparently Obama is under the false impression that killing Osama was a low priority for the Bush administration. Killing Osama has been a top priority since Sept. 12, 2001. Perhaps he will now take full credit for everything else happening on his watch, and stop blaming Bush!

Osama's death is a key victory in the world war against Islamists, albeit a small victory in the Long War against Muslim hatred. Next up, native son of New Mexico Anwar al-Awlaki, Osama's chief lieutenant, also hiding out in Pakistan.

To our Patriot brothers and sisters, on Thursday, I posted a note about not making our publishing deadline for the first time in 15 years due to severe weather. It took a couple of days before I was able to get online and see the hundreds of responses, which I did not expect for a note about our interrupted publishing schedule.

Early in my career, I spent six years as a first responder, both law enforcement and medical, and during those years and those since, I have witnessed, repeatedly, communities coming together after tragedy and pooling resources and talent for the benefit of others they have never met. Editor's Reply: We knew that a handful of our readers who also subscribe to sensationalist websites, would take strong exception to our criticism of those sites. The problem with sensationalist websites like WorldNetDaily, Patriot Update and others, is that they build some of their most controversial stories on 10 percent substance and 90 percent fragrance. The result of the hype is that it tends to divert attention from core threats to liberty and focus it on topical threats, which often have only marginal merit in fact. These diversions are a disservice to grassroots conservatives and the legacy of Liberty. The birth certificate hype is a textbook case in point. Yes, Obama is the consummate narcissistic Socialist, and yes, he should have release this information, and other records related to his background, on the first request. But the diversion he created via all the sensationalist hype was a masterful political ploy.

As for advertising, actually we do NOT advertise for any third party or share our subscriber lists under any circumstances -- and the products we sell from our own Patriot Shop support our mission. On the other hand, the sensationalist advertising models built on hype, such as the WorldNetDaily's Y2K scare are, at best, unethical. For example, in the year before Y2K, WND ran an endless loop about the world coming to an end -- and those stories were peppered with sources for your survival gear, bulk food, gold and silver, etc. If you were one of their true believers, you got suckered. A Great Day For The USA!

Nearly 10 years ago Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda struck a deadly blow against the United States. In New York, Washington, D.C., and a field in Pennsylvania, thousands of Americans died as a result of a brutal, unprovoked attack on our country. In the decade that followed, the U.S. military has methodically tracked down an taken out many of the people responsible for that act of war. Yesterday, Osama bin Laden received justice. I am certain that today he is beginning his eternal suffering without the virgins he anticipated would be his reward, and is discovering that, no matter how many times he and his jihadists shouted "Allah Akbar," his god is not "the greatest."

As the news spread last night the American spirit could be seen again. Spontaneous crowds gathered to celebrate at Ground Zero, outside the White House and on college campuses all over America. Students at West Point and the Naval Academy, our future military officers, roared their approval. Americans chanted "USA! USA!" and sang the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America.

Nothing can bring back the thousands lost on 9/11, or the thousands more who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the elimination of bin Laden will bring some measure of comfort to all who have experienced great sorrows and loss in combating the death-worshipping jihadists who have declared war on Judeo-Christian civilization.

In the days that follow, the long-term military, political and strategic implications of this momentous event will become clearer, and I will comment at length on what the future may hold. But for now, let us thank the brave men and women in uniform who protect us and our intelligence community for tracking bin Laden down. And let us rededicate ourselves to defeating an enemy that even now wants to bring to us and our allies sorrows greater than the sorrows

 

FATAH-HAMAS RECONCILIATION WILL END THE PEACE PROCESS

The chance for a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority evaporated as representatives of Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement signed a reconciliation deal last Wednesday in Cairo with its bitter rival - Islamist group Hamas.  "We have agreed to form a government composed of independent figures that would start preparing for presidential and parliamentary elections," said Azzam al-Ahmad, head of Fatah's negotiating team in Cairo. "Elections would be held about eight months from now," he added.

In the meantime, Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Elaraby told Al-Jazeera in a Thursday April 29 interview, that the "Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza will be open on a permanent basis within seven to ten days." The minister said Egypt would no longer accept that the Rafah border, Gaza's only crossing that bypasses Israel, remain blocked, describing the decision to seal it off as "shameful."  Al-Jazeera quoted an Israeli official saying that "We are troubled by the developments in Egypt, by the voices calling to annul the peace treaty, by the rapprochement between Egypt and Iran, and by the upgrading of relations between Egypt and Hamas."

The deteriorating relations between Egypt and Israel, and the recent revelation of a Fatah-Hamas deal, are additional signs of President Obama's failed Middle East policies. 

Obama's calling on former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak "to go," helped to replace him with the current military council that has empowered the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and is now aiding its Gaza based affiliate - Hamas.  The U.S., Israel, and former President Mubarak considered Hamas to be a terrorist organization. The Mubarak regime, along with Israel, had closed all crossings to and from Gaza to prevent Hamas - an Iranian client - from bringing in arms.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that reconciliation between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas could spell the end of the peace process. "You can not have peace with both Israel and Hamas," Netanyahu said.

Reacting to the reconciliation deal Israel 's Defense Minister, Ehud Barak, told members of the media that Israel will not negotiate with the Palestinians if Hamas is part of their leadership. Barak added, "Hamas is a murderous terrorist organization that fires rockets on civilians and has recently fired at a school bus with children in it.  This is an organization that we have nothing to negotiate with."  Barak charged that Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas), Chairman of the Palestinian Authority, is responsible for what just happened. He added that " Israel will request from its friends in the world not to negotiate with such a government."

Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council, declared in the only public responsefrom the Obama administration thus far, that "As we have said before, the United States supports Palestinian reconciliation on terms which promote the cause of peace, Hamas, however, is a terrorist organization which targets civilians."

Mahmoud Abbas has his own reasons for turning away from the Obama administration.  In an interview with Newsweek he said: "It was Obama who suggested a full settlement freeze. I said OK, I accept. We both went up the tree. After that, he came down with a ladder and he removed the ladder and said to me, jump." According to Asia Times "Mahmoud Abbas made a very specific choice of his path to Palestinian independence ...forsaking his relationship with the U.S. "

Mahmoud Zahar, a senior Hamas official stated that "Our program does not include negotiations with Israel or recognizing it. He added, "It will not be possible for the interim national government to participate or bet on or work on the peace process with Israel ."

While there is no substantive difference between the Fatah Charter and that of the Hamas, with both calling for the disappearance of the Jewish State, the Hamas Charter does not mince words: " Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."

"The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf, consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgment Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. "

"There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad.  Initiatives, proposals, and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."  

"After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion," and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying."

Although theFatah charter is more moderate in tenor than that of Hamas, it seeks the same end - armed struggle or Jihad against the "Zionists" i.e. the Jews. Article 8 exemplifies this:  The phase in their history, through which the Palestinian people are now living, is that of national (watani) struggle for the liberation of Palestine. Thus the conflicts among the Palestinian national forces are secondary, and should be ended for the sake of the basic conflict that exists between the forces of Zionism and of imperialism on the one hand, and the Palestinian Arab people on the other. On this basis the Palestinian masses, regardless of whether they are residing in the national homeland or in diaspora (mahajir) constitute - both their organizations and the individuals - one national front working for the retrieval of Palestine and its liberation through armed struggle.

If Israeli or American officials entertained any illusions about peaceful Palestinian intentions, the inclusion of Hamas in any future Palestinian decision-making would render the peace-process null and void.  It is time the Israeli government told the truth about the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority - they have long been as intransigent as Hamas and never intended to compromise on recognition of Israel as a State of the Jews or on the Right of Return of Palestinian refugees into Israel.

Sidelining Salam Fayyad in the wake of a newly constructed Palestinian interim government, along with the decision to end negotiations with Israel by the Fatah leadership and to seek unilateral recognition from the U.N., can mean only one thing: a Third Intifada is highly likely and with this one we'll see rockets flying.  The peace process will have effectively ended and the total failure of Obama's Middle East policies will be fully exposed. ###

1. On Bin Laden's Death

I've no wish to be churlish at this moment and I will give a hat tip to the president over having the resolve to actually take action when presented with the opportunity. We arrived at 9/11 because President Clinton refused to do as much. Even so, one can't help but notice that Obama's statement on the death of bin Laden completely ignores the debt owed to the Bush Administration while at the same time taking a couple of oblique swipes. However, the wildcard in this are the actions the administration will take now that bin Laden is dead.

It is pretty well established that the current president doesn't have the stomach for the successful war he inherited in Iraq and the unsuccessful war he has managed to create in Afghanistan. The death of bin Laden is more likely to give impetus to Obama's ambivalence about the concept of "victory" and his deep-seated hostility to the success of American military power and thereby give him the political cover he feels he needs to speed up troop withdrawals from those countries.

I fear the death of bin Laden will give Obama the impetus to do what he has long wanted but lacked the guts to do: wind down the war against al Qaeda, close Guantanamo, and release most of the prisoners we hold a Guantanamo under the guise of "releasing prisoners of war."

If the killing of bin Laden results in the administration declaring our job is done then bin Laden will have done more for al Qaeda in death than he ever accomplished in life.

2. Obama and Staff Claim For Credit Everything

Good job, Obama. You got bin Laden.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

The most unseemly thing about the entire killing of bin Laden is the pathetic scrabbling about for credit that we're seeing on behalf of both Obama and his staff.

3. Osama is Dead; Obama's Foreign Policy is Still Dangerous and Perverse

The big news of the day is that Osama is dead as a result of the brave work of our Special Forces and intelligence teams, as well as the Bush administration policies of terrorists interrogations and targeted assassinations. Yes, the very policies that Obama so vociferously opposed for political benefit. President Obama is to be congratulated for disavowing his campaign pledge and continuing those George Bush policies that he had previously repudiated.

The other big news of the day is that the Palestinian terrorists were the first to condemn the assassination, even before Al-Qaeda itself. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh denounced the murder of the "Arab holy warrior."

As the left goes agog with excitement over Obama's victory in the war on terror, they might want to ponder about his broader foreign policy, which is not only insouciant to Islamic terror, but actively supportive of it.

 Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld tells Newsmax the information that led to the killing of Osama bin Laden was obtained through "normal interrogation approaches" and says the notion that terrorist suspects were waterboarded at Guantanamo Bay is a "myth."

Rumsfeld also claims that elements of Pakistani intelligence could have been complicit in hiding the terrorist mastermind, asserts that his killing exonerates George W. Bush's approach to fighting terrorism, and warns that terrorists will likely try to avenge bin Laden's death with new attacks against America or its allies.

Thoughts on the Killing of Osama bin Laden

Bin Laden was just a part of Al-Qaeda which is just a part of the Islamic terrorist effort which is just a part of the Islamist movement, so the announcement of his death today by the U.S. government makes little operational difference. The war on terror has not fundamentally changed, much less been won.

But because bin Laden symbolized Islamic terror, his taunting presence via video and audio recordings for nearly ten years after 9/11 energized his allies and frustrated his enemies. Conversely, his execution by U.S. forces in Abbottabad, Pakistan gives Americans pride in their country, encourages the security and intelligence organizations, and is a body blow to Islamists.

What to watch for ahead:

1. On the American side, will the sudden unanimity and pride last for more than a few days? Or will the Left's usual reluctance snap right back?
2. Concerning the Islamists, how severe will the reaction be to the Zardari government acquiescing to American forces killing bin Laden on Pakistani soil? And how much will Americans and American interests abroad and at home be subject to terrorist attacks in response to the execution of the jihad's symbolic leader?

And Joe the plumber asked, " Are you kidding me?  You're going to
Steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??" And "The  One"
Ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's personalrecords were  hacked and publicized.  One lone reporter asked, "Isn't that Marxist  policy?" And she was
Banished from the Kingdom's press corps  ".



Then a citizen asked, "With no foreign relations  experience and
Having zero military experience or knowledge, how will  you deal with
Radical terrorists?" And "The One" said, "Simple. I shall  sit with
Them and talk with them and show them how nice we really are;  and they
Will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!" And the  people
Said, "Hallelujah!! We are safe at last, and we can beat our  weapons
Into free cars for the people!"



Then "The One" said "I shall give 95% of you  lower taxes." And one,
Lone voice said, "But 40% of us don't pay ANY  taxes." So "The One"
Said, "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the  fat-cats pay!"
And the people said, "Hallelujah! Show us the  money!"

Then "The One" said, "I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell
Your homes!" And the people yawned and the slumping housing market
Collapsed. And He said. "I shall mandate employer-funded health care
For every worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every
Person unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the
Clinics." And the people said, "Give me some of that!"
Then he said, "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas."
And the people said, "Where's my rebate check?"



Then "The One" said, "I shall bankrupt the coal industry and
Electricity rates will skyrocket!" And the people said, "Coalis
Dirty, coal is evil, no more coal! But we don't care for that part
About higher electric rates." So "The One" said, Not to worry. If
Your rebate isn't enough to cover your expenses, we shall bail you out.
Just sign up with the ACORN and you troubles are over!"
 
 Then He said, "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let's
Grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches,
Free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing..." And
The people said, "Hallelujah!" and they made him king!
 
 
And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and
Ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others
Simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto
A rock dropped from a cliff.
The banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a
Crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support.
 
 

Then "The One" said, "I am the "the Chosen One"- The Messiah - and I'm here
To save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have
Enough!" But our foreign trading partners said unto Him. "Wait a
Minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have
to pay more... And "The One" said, "Wait a minute. That is
not fair!!"

And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic
programs you have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and
a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!"
 
 
And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?" But yea
verily, it was too late. The people set upon The One and spat upon
him and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once mighty nation
was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or
shelter or hope. And the Change "The One" had given them was as like
unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that
consumed all that they had built.

And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish,
"give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!" But it was too
late, and their homeland was no more.

You may think this a fairy tale, but it's not.

On December 14, Border Officer Brian Terry lost his life in a shoot out with illegal Mexican aliens he was attempting to stop from sneaking into our country. This much we know for sure. Since then we have seen the Bureau of Alcohol Firearms and Tobacco (BATF) work overtime to keep us from learning that the guns involved in the crime, the guns with Mexican drug cartel fingerprints on them, were likely "Gun Walker" firearms. "Gun walker" was an insane idea dreamed up by some fool in the BATF that would "allow" known Mexican drug gang members to slip over our border to legally buy guns, and take them back to their bosses in Mexico.

Thereafter this foolhardy "plan" called for somehow using the trail of these guns as a way to trace them to Mexico's drug kingpins and build a "solid" case against them with. Such stupidity has rarely been seen, even in government work.

Utah Takes Center-Stage at Annual DC Immigration Conference

The Migration Policy Institute and Catholic Legal Immigration Network co-sponsored their Eighth Annual Immigration Law and Policy Conference last week at Georgetown University Law Center. Featuring an array of open-border lobby panelists, the Conference began with opening remarks-entitled "The Utah Experience"-from Utah's pro-amnesty Attorney General, Mark Shurtleff. Calling on the federal government to develop a Utah-inspired "America's Compact," Shurtleff described the U.S. as the world's "golden door" and demanded that lawmakers deal with the problem of illegal immigration in a way that is "uniquely American." He denounced current efforts by state legislators to enforce provisions in the Illegal Immigration and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 that prohibit states from granting in-state tuition to illegal aliens, saying that it "takes the hope away" from the children of those here illegally. Bin Laden Dead

Justice has been done. Nearly 10 years since the 9/11 attacks that left more than 3,000 Americans dead, Osama bin Laden was killed by a small team of U.S. military personnel operating under the authority of the Central Intelligence Agency. We first want to congratulate the men and women of our military and intelligence communities, past and present, who worked tirelessly across three Administrations to bring ultimate justice to the man who killed so many. News of an incredible operation to take out Osama bin Laden broke late last night and shortly after President Obama delivered a message that every American has been waiting to hear: Osama bin Laden is dead. He wasn't found in the mountains or in a cave - he was in suburban Pakistan living in a $1 million compound with 12-18 ft walls and very few windows.  Bin Laden reportedly resisted and was killed during a firefight. Students in Washington, DC rushed to celebrate in front of the White House. Fans at the Phillies/Mets game began chanting 'USA! USA!'
