Doylestown, PA:   Steve Goreham, Executive Director of the Climate Science Coalition of America, and noted author and speaker comes to Bucks County to discuss some of the common myths about  climate change and renewable energy.  "The governments of the world have adopted Climatism and discarded reality. Acres of solar cells sit idle at night and on cloudy days. Thousands of 300-foot-high wind towers interrupt the vistas of coastline, field, and hill, standing motionless for two-thirds of their existence.  Billions of dollars in government subsidies are spent each year to fund solar, wind, and biofuel industries, which could not compete and would not exist without these subsidies. Yet, these renewable sources supply only a pitifully small amount of the world's energy needs.", says Goreham.

RedState Morning Briefing

For April 28, 2011

1. President Obama's Birth Certificate: Why Now?

To answer any question economic, foreign policy or political regarding President Obama one must only answer one question: What is good for Obama?

President Obama coughed up his birth certificate today. So, the question is: How is this good for Obama?

It has been my view that the "birther" issue turned bad for President Obama some time before the latest round in the press brought the issue to a head.

Here's the thing about rumors: If people like you, they won't believe even the most vicious gossip. Like a besotted lover, who refuses to see faults, a political supporter will just see all rainbows and bunnies.

When people start to dislike you, though, they'll believe every spurious and outrageous claim. Why? Because they're looking for evidence to support their changed belief.

2. The Obama Doctrine and Syria

Over the past weeks we've been very critical of the administration's alleged policy in Libya. Under the guise of a rather exotic theory called Responsibility to Protect - also known by its cute acronym R2P - the United States, acting as part of a NATO force which seemingly only includes countries with financial interests in Libya, has undertaken a rather meaningless pseudo-intervention in Libya.

Our core objection to the Libyan intervention remains its incoherence. The Secretary of Defense has declared that Libya is not a vital national interest. This intervention has made us allies of al Qaeda, lacks any identifiable long term policy goals, and has been deliberately structured to fail as the use of ground forces and the goal of regime change have been ruled out. As a bonus, our allies are involved in the ethnic cleansing of Africans and they routinely behead prisoners.

On the other hand, a popular revolt is underway in Syria - where we do have vital national interests. More civilians have been killed to date by Syrian security forces than were killed by Qaddafi before our intervention. Instead of an "international" coalition being formed to R2P the heck out of Bashar al-Assad we get nothing.

3. Don't Raise the Debt Ceiling

I am no economist. In fact, as I researched for this piece and saw the diversity of opinions floating in the blogosphere and in the main stream press, it became clear to me that I am completely out of my element went it comes to national economics.

However, I am a tax payer. I am a small business owner, and I am a person that understands the concept of living beyond your means. I've even written about it before.

There is no doubt that the debt ceiling is a complicated matter. I've switched sides numerous times in this debate. Most of the time, I think to myself, "If they just keep raising it every time they want to spend more what's the point? Don't raise it again or it's worthless!" This will also easily lead me to the conclusion that it's not becoming worthless, it is worthless. And since it's worthless, let's not waste time debating whether or not to raise it when we could be focusing on spending.

4. The Devil Put On His Snow Shoes: Massachusetts Dems Vote to Limit Unions' Collective Bargaining

The first time, it was the "Scott heard around the world." Back then, it might have been a fluke-like a snowstorm in July. This time, however, it is almost unbelievable when Massachusetts' liberal, Democrat-controlled legislature votes overwhelmingly to strip unions of most of their right to bargain collectively over health care, striking their union benefactors in a Wisconsin-style smack down.

5. Shuffling the Deck Chairs, Yet Again

In the most recent Obama administration shake up, Bob Gates will be leaving the Department of Defense, Leon Pannetta will move from the CIA to DoD, General David Petraeus will move from Afghanistan to the CIA and Ryan Crocker will move from Texas A&M (from whence came Bob Gates) to Afghanistan. As in the previous major changes in the White House staff and the economic team, competent, experienced hands are being replaced by...competent experienced hands. And so as Rahm Emanuel became Bill Daley and Larry Summers became Gene Sperling, we witness another changing of the guard designed to right the course of this haphazardly lurching administration that cannot seem to find its footing either at home or abroad.

The problem is that the root of the issue may not lie with the staff, but rather with the person doing the staffing.

Former Fed Official: Markets 'Ready to Panic' as Bernanke Holds First Fed News Conference

Wednesday, 27 Apr 2011 06:59 AM

The door at the notoriously secretive Federal Reserve is opening wider.

For the first time in the Fed's 98-year history, its chairman is to begin holding regular news conferences. For Ben Bernanke, Wednesday's meeting with the press gives him a chance to steer the debate about where hiring, economic growth and inflation are headed in the months ahead.

It also helps the chairman cast himself as open and accessible, eager to answer questions.

Investors will be looking mainly for clues about when the Fed will reverse course and begin boosting interest rates.

When their two-day meeting ends Wednesday, before the news conference begins, Bernanke and his colleagues are expected to signal that the Fed's $600 billion Treasury bond-buying program will end as scheduled in June.

The Sticky Note Campaign!

Gas Pump Activism on Obama's Outrageous Energy Policy
So How Is That Hope and Change

Americans are leaving a sticky note or taped flyer hoping to get a message to President Obama and his energy policy fiasco that is driving up the price of fuel for all Americans nationwide. This also will connect fellow Americans getting gas too.  President Obama has not listened yet, or has ignored common sense energy policy moves. He has closed down exploration off the East Coast, and his EPA has shut down the Shell operation in Alaska, and his endangered species act may shut down major operstions in Texas and New Mexico.  President Obama is keeping a campaign pledge when he stated his promise on skyrocketing energy costs to American consumer...

What can Americans do with a deaf President or a Commander and Chief whose only action is to disrupt U.S. energy supplies in favor of the green dragon? This energy crisis negatively impacts every American and especially those middle and lower income Americans who have to decide betweeen gas for their car or food.for their home.

The Foundation

"It is very imprudent to deprive America of any of her privileges. If her commerce and friendship are of any importance to you, they are to be had on no other terms than leaving her in the full enjoyment of her rights." --Benjamin Franklin

Editorial Exegesis

"Pump prices keep climbing, so what do those mainly responsible for the run-up do? Try to pin it on someone else, of course. In his radio address last Saturday, President Obama bragged that his attorney general had just two days earlier 'launched a task force with just one job: rooting out cases of fraud or manipulation in the oil markets that might affect gas prices, including any illegal activity by traders and speculators. We're going to make sure that no one is taking advantage of the American people for their own short-term gain.' Last month, the president promised that his administration was 'taking various measures to deal with oil prices, and (is) watching out for price-gouging.' This is the sort of rhetoric that beleaguered consumers, aching from soaring fuel prices, are vulnerable to. Obama is giving them a straw man on which they can vent their frustrations. But their focus should be on the presidential candidate who said while campaigning in 2008 that under his environmentalist regime, 'electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.' On the day Obama took office, gasoline was $1.83 a gallon. On Tuesday, according to the American Automobile Association's Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the national average was $3.87. While electricity prices haven't yet necessarily skyrocketed, gasoline prices sure have. Obama could have prevented this. But he's done nothing to push crude supplies up and thereby bring gasoline prices down. In fact, it appears that his goal is to reduce domestic supply. ... Despite its denials, the administration has also increased gasoline prices through its promotion of a weak dollar. Because oil is traded in U.S. dollars, those who sell it on the open market demand more dollars for the same amount of crude because those dollars are worth less. This administration includes an energy secretary who has pined for European -- meaning $8-a-gallon -- gas prices. But the White House would rather the public remain ignorant of its role in driving prices higher. So it cynically kicks off probes of investors and oil industry executives that will turn up absolutely nothing." --Investor's Business Daily

 Upright

"The [Paul] Ryan budget has been criticized as heartless and cruel. But its purpose is to address the rising U.S. debt problem without tanking the U.S. economy, and to do so before a truly heartless and cruel credit downgrade of the sort S&P gave Japan in January. Mr. Obama's response was simply to mock the GOP proposal. The ratings agencies are hardly the last word on U.S. economic health. But the S&P outlook is a warning to the White House that financial markets have noticed that this President seems to have decided that his path to re-election lies in demonizing his opponents rather than seeing to the nation's fiscal well-being." --Wall Street Journal

"President Barack Obama, one of the most insane spenders in Washington, has a 12-year plan. After hearing the president's plan, Standard & Poor's downgraded the U.S. Sovereign debt outlook to 'negative.' ... At the world's first 'Presidential Facebook town hall meeting' [last] Wednesday, even Obama had a hard time taking his 'plan' seriously. Sometimes he referred to it as a 12-year plan, sometimes 10 years, sometimes saving four trillion, sometimes saving two trillion. So will the Obama plan save four trillion over 12 years or two trillion over 10?" --columnist Mark Steyn

"Already [Obama's] campaign's messaging is all about recapturing the feeling of insurgency from the first time around. Finish the mission. Complete the work. Remember the feeling. That's why he's running his re-election campaign out of Chicago, as if people won't notice he's the incumbent. Obama has never run on a record. He's always run almost literally on a hope and a prayer. Now he must defend what he has done -- and what he has failed to do. If that makes him cranky, that's just too bad." --columnist Jonah Goldberg

"Two college professors just released a study of national protests between 2007 and 2009. What did they find? … 'After January 2007, the attendance at antiwar rallies [measured in] roughly the tens of thousands, or thousands, through the end of 2008. … After the election of Barack Obama as president, the order of magnitude of antiwar protests dropped [...] Organizers were hard pressed to stage a rally with participation in the thousands, or even in the hundreds. For example, we counted exactly 107 participants at a Chicago rally on October 7, 2009.' Amazing. Especially because the war in Afghanistan ramped up after Obama was elected. American fatalities shot up in 2009 and 2010. The protesters have remained silent over Libya." --columnist John Stossel

Insight

"As the national income grows, the federal government will ultimately end up with more revenues. Prosperity is the real way to balance our budget. By lowering tax rates, by increasing jobs and income, we can expand tax revenues and finally bring our budget into balance." --President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963)

"A society that robs an individual of the product of his effort, or enslaves him, or attempts to limit the freedom of his mind, or compels him to act against his own rational judgment ... is not, strictly speaking, a society, but a mob held together by institutionalized gang-rule." --author and philosopher Ayn Rand (1905-1982)

The Demo-gogues

The beater clingers: "[F]irst of all, $4-a-gallon gas really hurts a lot of people around this country. It's not because they're wasteful, but if you're driving 50 miles to work and that's the only job you can find, and you can't afford some hybrid so you're stuck with the old beater that you're driving around that gets eight miles a gallon, these gas prices are killing you right now." --Barack Obama feigning sympathy for the little guy

Witch hunt: "I asked my attorney general to look into any cases of price gouging so he can make sure nobody's being taken advantage of at the pump. Today I'm gonna go a step further. The attorney general's putting together a team whose job it is to root out any cases of fraud or manipulation in the oil markets that might affect gas prices, and that includes the role of traders and speculators. We're gonna make sure that nobody's taking advantage of American consumers for their own short-term gain." --Barack Obama

Class warfare: "I believe that we can't ask everybody to sacrifice and then tell the wealthiest among us, well, you can just relax and go count your money, and don't worry about it. We're not going to ask anything of you." --Barack Obama

Government spending made America great? "I will not reduce our deficit by sacrificing the things that have always made America great. The things that have made Americans prosper. I won't sacrifice our investments in education. I will not sacrifice those. I won't sacrifice our investments in science and basic research. I won't sacrifice the safety of our highways or our airports. I won't sacrifice our investment in clean energy at a time when our dependence on foreign oil is causing Americans so much pain at the pump. I will not sacrifice America's future. That I will not do." --Barack Obama

Dezinformatsia

The BIG lie: "With Congress on recess, town hall events across the country are again lighting up with anger and frustration, but this time it is about the official Republican Party budget plan. The Paul Ryan budget plan, which drastically cuts taxes for the richest Americans back to what they were in the 1930s. It drastically cuts taxes for corporations. It gives billions of dollars in tax breaks to oil companies, those poor, orphaned, hard-luck oil companies. And it also, incidentally, ends Medicare, it repeals Medicare. It turns Medicare instead into a coupon system and it makes senior citizens buy private health insurance." --MSNBC's Rachel Maddow

Poll driven policy: "Now to those climbing gas prices. They are taking a toll on so many of you and any anger you feel about it is likely to rise this week when oil companies report what are expected to be record profits. ... [T]hese gas prices are also knocking down President Obama's poll numbers, which is why he's out there nearly every day addressing this problem." --ABCs George Stephanopoulos (It's nice to have a president who advocates "change" based on poll numbers.)

Class warfare: "Well I think [Barack Obama has] got a full plate. But I think he's gotta be held accountable for a number of different standards. I think he's wrong on these wars. I think he's given too much time, too much attention to the rich and the lucky, not enough attention to the poor. Not enough focus on jobs. Again, there's a lot on his plate and I'm empathetic toward that. But ultimately are you gonna side with the weak or are you gonna side with the strong? And we gotta focus more attention on the weak in this country and less on the strong." --PBS commentator Tavis Smiley

Village Idiots

Blame Republicans for Obama's poll numbers: "People are a little disappointed in the president because he hasn't been able to change the way Washington works at all. Indeed, Congress is even more poorly regarded. Everybody wanted a bigger deal than was done on the last budget go-around. And so in an odd way the fact that the Republicans and Congress are so poorly regarded, that the whole system is so poorly regarded, drags everybody down, including the president." --Huffington Post's Howard Fineman

Spin: "You know, the president went to church yesterday. It was well covered. I'm not sure if we put out a statement or not." --White House Press Secretary Jay Carney attempting to spin away the fact that Obama has never once followed the presidential custom of issuing an official Easter proclamation, though he sure didn't miss Earth Day

Belly laugh of the week: "Our policy has been and will always be, as long as I will be in office, that a strong dollar is in the interest of the country. We will never embrace a strategy to weaken the dollar." --Treasury Secretary Tim "Turbo Tax" Geithner

He feels your pain: "We've gotten away from being a people-centered society [and become] a money-centered society." --Bill Clinton

Short Cuts

"So, if Obama's numbers are gas-tanking, the political/policy czars in the White House need to find someone to blame, and fast. The President has announced the formation of yet another task force, this one in the Department of Justice to look for fraud and illegal manipulation of gasoline prices." --political analyst Rich Galen

"Just how dire is the crisis over the $14,294,000,000,000 debt ceiling, which America will hit on about May 16? So dire that President Obama spent much of last week traipsing across the West collecting campaign cash (and hit the golf course for Round No. 65 on Saturday). So dire that Congress headed off on a two-week vacation (and Sen. Harry Reid jetted off to China on a 10-day junket with nine colleagues, costing taxpayers millions)." --former White House correspondent Joseph Curl

President Obama's National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) filed a complaint recently over Boeing's plans to open a second plant in South Carolina, a "right-to-work" state, instead of expanding its operations in Puget Sound, Washington, where its workers are unionized. The new South Carolina facility is for the production of the company's 787 Dreamliner plane.

TAKE ACTION. Tell your legislator to reject the NLRB bailout!

Boeing's Washington workers belong to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). The IAM went on strike four times since 1989, costing Boeing at least $1.8 billion in revenue. The new plant in South Carolina would be non-union.

The NLRB is declaring war on job creators and killing jobs!

Why in the world would an agency that's charged with addressing disputes between employers and employees in the private sector concern itself with a company building a supplemental facility anywhere in the country? Because, the NLRB believes Boeing acted out "anti-union animus" in building the facility and creating jobs in a right-to-work state.

·    The government agency decided nearly two years after the fact that Boeing's actions were retaliation for the IAM's repeated shut downs of commercial aircraft production, including a strike lasting almost 60 days costing billions.

You can help.

Tell your legislators that Federal bureaucrats shouldn't be telling private companies how to run their businesses. It's time to take a stand for American businesses and workers.

Sincerely,

Katie Gage

Medicare As We've Known It Isn't an Option

Paul Ryan's premium support plan is preferable to Obama's rationing panel.

By BETSY MCCAUGHEY

The Democratic Party is urging Americans to choose Medicare as we've always known it rather than a new plan by Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) that would enroll seniors in private health insurance beginning in 2022. This choice is a hoax: Medicare as we've always known it is already gone. It was eviscerated by President Obama's health law. Yet if the president and the Democratic Party successfully bamboozle voters, they may win back independents and registered Democrats who voted for Republicans in 2010. The 2012 election could turn on this falsehood.

The truth is that the Obama health law reduces future funding for Medicare by $575 billion over the next 10 years and spends the money on other programs, including a vast expansion of Medicaid.

Demand a Vote on the "Save Our States" Act -- Halt Implementation of ObamaCare!

There is legislation in Congress that would kill the ObamaCare health care takeover, but it needs your support NOW to have any chance of passing.

TAKE ACTION!

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) has introduced the "Save Our States" Act. This bold legislation would completely halt ObamaCare's implementation pending a final ruling on its constitutionality by the courts, effectively stopping the President's socialized health care nightmare dead in its tracks.

This is exactly the reason so many conservative and independent voters flooded into election booths last November. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats under the leadership of Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) are leveraging their now razor-thin majority to prevent even holding a vote on this important reform.

It is critical for grassroots America to create a groundswell of support for hol ding a vote on the Save Our States Act. If we can reinforce how important holding a vote on this legislation is, even amongst conservative and moderate Senators, Reid will have little choice but to give in and at least schedule a vote on it.

This is step one - but an important step towards reviving this debate and putting lawmakers, many of whom will be vulnerable in the coming 2012 elections, on the record on what they really think about ObamaCare.

Click here to use FreedomWorks toll-free online phone tool to be immediately connected with your Senators' offices and deliver this important message: it's time to schedule a vote on Senator Hutchison's Save Our States Act and stop the implementation of ObamaCare!

Sincerely,

Kibbe Signature

BREAKING: White House releases Obama's birth certificate

(CNN) - The White House released President Obama's original birth certificate Wednesday.

The surprise release follows recent and sustained remarks by businessman Donald Trump, among others, that raised doubts as to whether the president was born in the United States.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Trump said, "I have accomplished something nobody else has accomplished."

"I want to look at it, but I hope it's true," he added. "He should have done it a long time ago. I am really honored to have played such a big role in hopefully getting rid of this issue."

Earlier Wednesday, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said the debate has been "really bad for the Republican Party."

The so-called "birther" debate is "good politics" but "bad for the country," said Pfeiffer.

Paying Taxes is An Option (If you're the ruling elite)

Apr 27, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins

 By Basil Irwin, staff writer

Well, once again, another key Obama administration official got caught not paying his taxes. This time it was US Attorney General Eric Holder. Holder along with his brother failed to pay property taxes on their childhood home in Queens New York, which they inherited last August when their mother passed away.

You'd think these chumps would have learned their lesson about taxes by now. But no, paying their own taxes isn't a priority for the Obammunists. They're far more worried about we little people paying up. But themselves? Fuggedaboutit.

The Holders did finally cough up the bucks when the New York Post confronted them about it. Great! Apparently Marxists will pay their taxes, but only if the press makes them.

A spokesman said the brothers "weren't aware of the initial missed payments, which happened in the last months of their mother's life when she was battling illness."

Fine. But what about the subsequent payments missed by the Holder ... Continue Reading:Paying Taxes is An Option (If you're the ruling elite)

Panetta to Be Tapped for Defense Secretary, Petraeus in Line to Lead CIA

Published April 27, 2011 | FoxNews.com

In this Feb. 10 photo, CIA Director Leon Panetta testifies before the House Intelligence Committee on Capitol Hill.

AP2011

In this Feb. 10 photo, CIA Director Leon Panetta testifies before the House Intelligence Committee on Capitol Hill.

In a broad reshuffling of his national security team, President Obama plans to name CIA Director Leon Panetta as the next secretary of Defense and Gen. David Petraeus, the U.S. commander in charge in Afghanistan, as Panetta's replacement at the helm of the CIA, Fox News has confirmed.

Officials told Fox News that Obama is also expected to announce that Lt. Gen. John Allen would replace Petraeus in Afghanistan and that diplomat Ryan Crocker will be the next U.S. ambassador to that country.

The changes are part of a series of top nominations expected to be announced as early as Wednesday.

2011 Budget Chartbook: Pictures of Federal Spending and Debt

Ever wonder what portion of the federal budget is spent on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid?  Or if defense spending was eliminated, could we solve or fiscal problems?

The Heritage Foundation has launched a special preview edition of its 2011 Budget Chart Book which paints a clear picture of how much the federal government is spending, how deep it's in debt, how massive entitlement programs are, and what we pay in taxes.

As the national debt skyrockets and the President calls on Congress to raise the debt ceiling, its important Americans understand how bad the nation's fiscal situation has gotten.  The 2011 Budget Chart Book shows how massive entitlement programs are driving our debt--faster and harder (Chart).  It also shows how raising taxes will not solve our fiscal problems (Chart).

New charts in 2011 include a picture of how the U.S. debt stacks up against countries like Greece, Portugal and Italy. If spending keeps going up along with the national debt we are spiraling into an economic crisis.

The Heritage Foundation's 2011 Budget Chart Book will arm you with the facts you need to make sense of any discussion of the nation's spending, taxes and debt.

Pictures of a Budgetary Disaster

Another budget battle looms on the horizon as Congress returns from recess next week to continue work on the nation's finances and debates whether to raise the debt limit, now at $14.3 trillion. In the last year, no single issues has captured the attention of Americans more. And for good reason. Spending and debt are skyrocketing, causing many to question what kind of course we are on. Hyper-drive spending is what last year's elections were really all about.

The Senate's Gang of Six wants to raise your taxes.

Call Your Senators and Stop the Gang of Six

Washington is abuzz with reports about the "Gang of Six."  Three Democrat and three Republican Senators are negotiating a deficit reduction plan that builds on President Obama's debt commission, and it is gaining momentum.

Washington has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. The Gang of Six is an effort to get Republicans to endorse higher revenues. In other words, tax hikes.

>> Take action now: call your Senators and and tell them to not join the Gang of Six in raising taxes.

As the Washington Post noted, the Gang's plan will include "...tax increases that previously have been anathema for Republicans."According to its leader, Senator Kent Conrad, "Revenue has to be part of this, because revenue as a share of our national income is the lowest it has been in 60 years."

Call now: Help us stop this effort before it gains momentum.

Thank you for helping us advance conservative policy in Congress.

Obama Releases Birth Certificate; Bashes Conservatives

The controversy surrounding President Obama's birth certificate hit a critical mass this week. Today the White House responded.

A USA Today/Gallup poll released yesterday found that "only 38% of Americans say Obama definitely was born in the USA." Note the word "Americans," not "conservatives," not "Republican primary voters" or "right-wing kooks." A serious poll by Gallup finding that just 38% of Americans are certain the president was born here means a lot of Americans -- Democrats and Independents included -- had doubts. Obama's unwillingness to put the issue to rest was creating a bigger problem for him as his reelection campaign neared.

At a press conference yesterday, CNN's Ed Henry asked White House Press Secretary Jay Carney why Obama had not released his long form birth certificate, if for no other reason than to end the debate. When liberals lose CNN, it's time for Plan B.

This morning, the White House released Barack Obama's long form birth certificate. Donald Trump quickly took credit for forcing Obama to act. The president then held a brief press conference to say that the issue had become a distraction from the important problems facing our country. It remains to be seen whether this ends the dispute. There are already calls for him to produce other documents, including his college transcripts.

But here's the line from Obama's speech that caught my attention: "We aren't going to be able to do it [solve problems], if we keep vilifying each other."

The performance was vintage Obama. While condemning vilification, he tried to blame conservatives for distracting him from serious issues. And when it comes to vilification, no one does it better than Obama.

Remember his recent deficit reduction speech? Instead of a serious policy address, we got a hyper-partisan stump speech. Obama accused Republicans of taking away "health insurance for 50 million Americans," kicking "someone's grandparents" out of their nursing home and telling children with Down syndrome to "fend for themselves."

In defending his plan to raise taxes, Obama accused wealthy Americans of being "takers" and said "we can't ... tell the wealthiest among us, 'Well, you can just relax and go count your money...'" (When he's done "spreading the wealth around" they won't have much money left to count!)

When gas prices skyrocket in part because of his anti-business policies, he attacks energy companies, promising punitive tax hikes and task forces to investigate oil companies and "speculators" for price gouging. And whenever there is bad economic news, it's always George W. Bush's mess that he's trying to clean up.

By the way, after the president told us that we have serious problems to deal with, he and Michelle left the White House for Chicago, where they will tape an appearance on Oprah's show. Then he's heading to New York for more fundraisers. It seems as though Obama believes the nation's most urgent problem is his own reelection.

Seriously Wrong On Syria

Since taking office, the Administration's roadmap to peace in the Middle East has been defined by pressuring Israel into making more concessions while wooing Syria in the hope it would be the key to peace in the Middle East. Perhaps the White House's thinking has been influenced by Nancy Pelosi, who declared during a visit to Syria in 2007, "The road to Damascus is a road to peace." The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), has been to Syria five times in the past two years.

In fairness, this view has also been held by some Republicans, including former Secretary of State James Baker. Many in Washington seemed to believe that Syria's dictator, Bashar Assad, was someone they could do business with. But Assad's Syria is Iran's closest ally and a supporter of Hezbollah. Several years ago, Israel bombed a secret nuclear facility in Syria.

But as popular uprisings have swept across the Middle East and toppled one dictator after another, Assad has shown his true face -- brutally oppressing Syrians who demand greater freedom. Yet, while Assad guns down his own people, Obama has been slow to offer support for the Syrian people.

Obama was quick to dump an ally, Egypt's Hosni Mubarak, and went to war with Libya to protect its civilian population from Qadhafi. But Obama has been unable to get tough with Assad, even as his tanks crush demonstrations.

Commenting on Washington's bizarre stance toward Syria, today's Wall Street Journal notes the following:

"Yesterday, the New York Times quoted a senior Administration official saying the U.S. was reluctant to criticize the Syrian President because he 'sees himself as a Westernized leader' and that 'he'll react if he believes he is being lumped in with brutal dictators.' This was meant as a defense of U.S. policy."

There Is A Silver Bullet

Rising gas prices are starting to hurt Obama politically. Seeking to minimize the damage, Obama has been telling us that there is "no silver bullet" to bring down gas prices. Obama told a Virginia news station yesterday, "They need to increase supplies. We are in a lot of conversations with major oil producers like Saudi Arabia."

There is a solution to high gas prices, and Obama just mentioned it -- we need to increase supplies. So if increased oil supplies from Saudi Arabia would help lower prices, why on earth is the Obama Administration stopping Shell from tapping into massive offshore deposits in Alaska?

The silver bullet we need is for Obama to reverse course, tell the radical environmentalists to take a hike and lift his restrictions on offshore drilling. An indication that the U.S. was finally serious about producing its own energy would send a powerful message to the global markets.

Remember the last oil spike, in 2008? The price of oil peaked on July 14, 2008 at $145 a barrel. That same day, President George W. Bush issued an executive order lifting the federal ban on offshore drilling. Guess what happened? Oil prices started falling fast.

According to Pajama's Media, "By Friday, July 18, the price of a barrel of crude had dropped to $128.94, a 12% decrease. A month later, on August 14, the price had fallen to $115.05. ...By election day, November 4, the price of a barrel of crude had plummeted to $70.84 -- a 51% decrease in less than five months."

Allen West Heckled, Heckler Arrested

 The Heckler that was arrested?

Air America host arrested for disrupting Allen West town hall event

Local police arrested a woman who appears to be former liberal radio network Air America host Nicole Sandler while she was disrupting Rep. Allen West's Tuesday town hall event in Fort Lauderdale and harassing the Congressman's wife. According to video obtained by Florida blogger Javier Manjarres, known better online as The Shark Tank, police charged Sandler, who revealed her name on camera, with trespassing after they removed her from the event and she "continued her tirade and used an expletive to address a police officer."

With Air America now defunct, Sandler hosts a self-described "progressive talk radio" show at RadioOrNot.com.

In video he shot of the town hall, several hecklers Manjarres says were planted shouted over West as he began speaking at the event. At least one other man was removed from the event. After the hecklers continued disrupting West's comments, the freshman Congressman shot back at them: "You're not going to intimidate me."

West continued speaking after a police officer removed one man from the room the event was held in. Manjarres reports that, "minutes later," the ultimately-arrested Sandler began harassing West and his wife.

What Professor Obama Doesn't Understand

This column by ACRU General Counsel and Policy Director for the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) Peter Ferrara was published April 27, 2011 on The American Spectator website.

President Obama's self-congratulatory "economic recovery" is way too little, way too late. By historical standards for the American economy, we should be in the second year now of a booming economic recovery. Instead the economy is still struggling to get off the ground, and what is booming instead is prices and inflation.

If you listen to what President Obama is saying in his reelection campaign, which is already underway in his town hall tour across America, the reason for this is clear. President Obama does not understand the basics of economics. What he says repeatedly is that increased government spending is the foundation of economic recovery and growth. But the economic reality is that incentives for increased production are the foundation for recovery and booming growth.

As a result, what we are witnessing is a historical reenactment of the 1970s, if not the 1930s, with the same throwback economic policies that caused the dismal economic downward spiral of those years. But this is not all that President Obama doesn't understand. He also doesn't understand the budget, taxes, business, the energy and oil markets, and even health care.

Profile in Courage Defending Marriage: Paul Clement

This column by ACRU Senior Legal Analyst Ken Klukowski was published April 26, 2011 on Townhall.com.

A major law firm has caved to pressure from militant homosexual activists, and one of America's top Supreme Court lawyers resigned from that firm rather than abandon principle. That lawyer is former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement, and this is a story that everyone who values the rule of law needs to understand.

In 1996, a bipartisan majority of the Republican-controlled Congress passed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), signed into law by Democratic President Bill Clinton. The law specifies that for purposes of federal law, marriage is the union of one man and one woman. The law also provides that if any state breaks with 2,000 years of Western civilization by redefining marriage to include homosexual couples, no other state need recognize those unions.

Then some people started redefining marriage. In 2003, Massachusetts became the first state to do the same through an egregious instance of judicial activism. Today, a total of five states out of fifty have same-sex marriage.

Defender of our Guns and our Constitution,

MEXICAN HOMICIDES TRIPLE WHILE ATF SENT GUNS TO MEXICO!

Hard to believe, but it is true. Just when you thought that our United States government was doing all they possibly could to diminish the killing along the Mexican border, all of a sudden it was revealed that our Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was actually delivering guns to suspected Mexican arms traffickers and then smuggled into Mexico, while our agents turned their heads!

Here's the unbelievable portion: It was confirmed that AK-47 style rifles found there were among the "hundreds---possibly thousands---of rifles allowed by ATF to "walk " from U.S. dealers' shelves into the hands of known and suspected firearm traffickers and across the border into the service of Mexican drug gangs!

In the two-plus years since Barack Obama took office and the ATF ramped up its "Project Gunrunner" and "Operation Fast and Furious" gun trafficking sting operations---

DRUG WAR HOMICIDES IN MEXICO HAVE NEARLY TRIPLED, according to an article published last weekend by Global Research!

TRIPLED!

Here is what else this important report said:

"While the upward trend in violence dates back to 2005, the major increase in violence came after a dramatic spike in 2008, as organized crime related homicides jumped to 6,837 killings, a 142% increase from 2007. After another increase of more than 40% to 9,614 killings in 2009, the number of killings linked to organized crime jumped by 59% in 2010, reaching a new record total of 15,273 deaths (Drug Violence in Mexico: Data and Analysis through 2010."

The truth of the matter is that it might have been all a big ATF "Cover-up!"

That's right: over 1,500 weapons were delivered to Mexican drug cartels, under the "disguise" of a supposed "sting" operation. And yet the drug cartel murder rate TRIPLED during this same time. We've got to put a stop to these killings!

The Obama administration is trying to claim that innocent people's guns in the United States are being used for crime in Mexico. They are trying to attack OUR Second Amendment rights.

U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) continues his investigation into the ATF's Mexican dealings.

Please CLICK HERE to DONATE to Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) as we want the "Project Gunrunner" investigation to continue to see if there was an ATF cover-up. Help us to also continue our efforts to protect your Second Amendment rights GUARANTEED by the U.S. Constitution. We will continue to DEFEND your rights against the anti-gun Obama administration!
In short: We want answers!

U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is trying to determine whether the gun used in the attack that killed Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata---purchased at a Texas gun store in October---was smuggled into Mexico by buyers who were under investigation by ATF agents. He has asked the ATF why the purchasers of the gun used in the attack on Zapata were not arrested in November, a month after they bought the weapons. Now the Mexican government has a probe into the ATF and their guns.

This special report, entitled "DRUG VIOLENCE IN MEXICO: DATA AND ANALYSIS THROUGH 2010" shows that the body count has risen sharply at the same time that the Obama State department has allowed private arms sales to Mexico exceed those to Iraq, Afghanistan and Israel.

All this illicit gun trade happened after Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and others were pointing accusing fingers of blame at gun shops in the Southwest, gun shows and this country's supposed "lax" gun laws.

In addition to the TRIPLING of killings, many believe our own ATF helped to come about, there was unbelievable evidence that the current Mexican administration of Mexican President Calderon was also a culprit for killings. The report reads:

"During the period from 2007 to 2010, the total number of organized crime related homicides identified by the Mexican government reached 34,550. In other words, the number of organized crime homicides reported during the first four years of the Calderon administration was FOUR times greater than the total of 8,901 such killings identified during the ENTIRE (Vicente) Fox administration (2001-2006). With an estimated 76,131 intentional homicides in Mexico since 2007, killings related to organized crime accounted for about 45% of all murders in the country."

Will you urge our Congress to get to the very bottom of this unbelievable matter?

Please CLICK HERE to DONATE to Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) as we want the "Project Gunrunner" investigation to continue to see if there was an ATF cover-up. Help us to also continue our efforts to protect your Second Amendment rights GUARANTEED by the U.S. Constitution. We will continue to DEFEND your rights against the anti-gun Obama administration!

Our Second Amendment to the United States Constitution literally GUARANTEES us the right to keep and bear arms.

But this ATF Cover-Up can hack away at that right.

That's why we must get involved and ask our United States 'Congressmen to help Senator Grassley to get to the very bottom of this travesty of justice.

This isn't just about one Cover-Up of firearms. It is also about the United States Constitution; and YOUR right to keep and bear arms. That's why we seek your help in forcing the hand of this Congressional investigation!

However, I cannot help but think about the nominated head of the ATF, Mr. Andrew Traver. This is yet another nomination by Barack Obama to further his anti-gun agenda. This Chicago-crony is an anti-gun zealot that should have never been nominated! The Senate Judiciary refused to act on his nomination last fall. Once again nominated, earlier this year, his hearing has yet to be scheduled. There are approximately 80,000,000 gun owners in the United States who must come against this nominee who tried to rid Chicago of weapons, while he was their ATF head. He is an anti-gun zealot with a distinctive anti-gun bias. And his record proves that!

Mr. Obama and his anti-gun cohorts in the ATF want to strip you of your guns. Not just the nominated head of ATF like this, but so is the "Commander-in-Chief"---Barack Obama is anti-gun.

That's why you and I must remain strong. Private guns are guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. And NO ONE can take that right away!

This week, many ATF officials are in Washington, D.C. apparently preparing materials to respond to another Congressional investigation. They are responding to a subpoena from U.S. Congressman Darrell Issa's House committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

This is very serious business. And to think that the killing rate TRIPLED while we had guns illegally brought into Mexico?!

Here's another problem that is very personal to you and to me...

These killings shed a bad light on gun-owners in the United States; and to some liberal lawmakers, it gives the "green light" to STOP some of our guaranteed freedoms to own a gun.

Will you help the Second Amendment Foundation financially to make sure that your Constitutional right is guaranteed? Our national media efforts to secure the Second Amendment rights remain strong.

Hundreds of weapons sold to known traffickers
by the ATF to the Mexican drug cartel are inexcusable.

I understand about under-cover investigations and possibly the use of a few weapons to help EXPOSE the drug cartels. However---over 1,500 guns were sold to the drug cartels... AND NO ONE has been indicted! Something is literally wrong with this picture. I believe it is an ATF Cover-Up.

Congress needs to be informed about this; and something must be done! Will you help us today?

We need your donation to stay in this all-out battle for your gun rights.

Economic study: Despite Obama's claim, the poor are not getting poorer

Define 'poor'

In his mid-April speech on the budget deficit, President Obama echoed conventional wisdom when he cited the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer as a reason to raise taxes on the wealthy in order to reduce the national debt.

Research, published at The Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, from Cornell economist Richard Burkhauser, Joint Committee on Taxation economist Jeff Larrimore, and Indiana University economist Kosali Simon, however, suggests that the president's piece of conventional wisdom isn't entirely accurate. According to the findings, while the rich have indeed been getting richer, for the last 30 years so too have the poor and middle class.

Presidential address: Evaluating the questions that alternative policy success measures answer

Academic garbage from Richard Burkhauser

Sir Francis Bacon is given credit for the maxim "Knowledge is power." When I was a younger scholar, that meant being able to answer important questions related to the evaluation of public policies. As I have become less young, it increasingly has meant the ability to define the questions that need to be answered to appropriately evaluate public policies.

This is not a trivial difference. One of my public policy heroes, Professor and later Senator Pat Moynihan, once said that "In public policy debates everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts." But the issue is more complex. Facts are only relevant within some context. Much of what we do as evidence-based policy analysts is use, and in some cases collect, data to determine if a given policy has or will satisfy a set of success criteria. But decisions must be made along the way with respect to what data to select, how it relates to the success criteria, and most importantly what are the success criteria against which the data on outcomes are being measured.

Dear Patriots:

An outstanding conservative Marine needs your help today!

New York native Ilario Pantano served as an enlisted Marine in Operation Desert Storm.  After his service he went on to graduate from NYU and was a success in the world of finance.  When Radical Islamists attacked our country on 9/11, Ilario Pantano again answered the call when the nation needed him most.  He sought and earned an officer's commission in the Marine Corps.  He lead a platoon of Marines on a combat tour of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His experiences were chronicled in the bestselling book Warlord: No Better Friend No Worse Enemy

As a Congressional candidate in 2010, Pantano almost pulled off a major upset in North Carolina's 7th District.  Pantano got 46.3% of the vote in a district that has been held by Democrats for more than one hundred years.

Much the same way that it took conservative icon Allen West (FL-22) two campaigns to win a traditionally Democrat district, Pantano is a blue chip candidate who is already laying the ground work to be victorious in the rematch.

Ilario Pantano is the personification of the Marine Corps values of honor, courage and commitment.  Our nation needs him in Congress.

This brave Marine of two wars needs your help today! So please, no matter the size of your contribution directly to the Pantano Campaign today - be it $10, $25, $50, $100 or more - every dollar will make a difference toward victory.

Obama releases birth certificate, holds press conference

President Obama held a brief press conference this morning to address the ongoing (and completely ridiculous) birther issue. The White House released his original birth certificate and Obama followed that up by stating what most Americans already knew - that he was born in Hawaii. Obama said the nation has bigger, more important issues to talk about, saying he was 'puzzled and amused' that 'sideshows and carnival barkers' keep getting dragged on and on and on. He said America doesn't have time for this 'silliness' and it's time to move on. But will the hardcore birther crowd be satisfied? In a word: NO. Glenn, Stu and Pat reveal how the birther claims will be taken to the next level on radio today. PLUS: The birth certificate the President doesn't want Americans to see: LOOK

Trump takes credit: 'I'm very proud of myself today'

Is there ever a minute where Trump is not proud of himself for having enough money to own all the finest things? He constantly brags about his gold plated toothbrushes and platinum socks or what have you, but today was especially great in TrumpWorld because he (according to himself) was solely responsible for getting Obama to finally release his birth certificate. Trump said he was glad it was over - which is odd, because like 5 minutes ago he was saying his 'researchers' in Hawaii had found some damming evidence. What in the world is Donald Trump thinking? Glenn tries to get inside the brain that's covered by the worst rug in history on radio today. WATCH

Watch the other hand! Fed holds first press conference in 97 years

While Trump and Obama duke it out over birth certificates (and undoubtedly the press will chat about that all day long) - the rest of America misses out on something really important. The Fed is holding its first press conference in 97 years - that's especially profound today given the state of our economy and the role the Fed is playing in its continued demise. Why does the administration want America to miss the Fed's big conference today? Glenn explains on radio...

Allen West heckled, but 'not intimidated'

Allen West continues to show why he's a favorite choice for 2012 among conservatives - he's unafraid and will not back down. He was speaking recently when some protesters kept loudly interrupting him - he responded by calmly saying he will 'not be intimidated' and continued on. The saddest part of the protests? The lone voice was a failed Air America host. HotAir blogger Allahpundit summed it up best: "When the big dissident presence at a rally is a host from a defunct radio network, you've got yourself an optics problem." The Blaze adds another big voice: As reported in Politico, "The Huffington Post isn't the only persona-based news aggregation site that can poach talent from the mainstream media. Glenn Beck's website, The Blaze, has hired syndicated columnist David Harsanyi away from The Denver Post." Get the full story HERE and check out his first column at The Blaze HERE.

Atheist MSNBC host says Jesus wanted 100% tax rate

Atheist Lawrence O'Donnell thinks he's being clever and undoubtedly believes he's trapping Christians in what he views as hypocrisy. The latest point on the O'Donnell express: Jesus would have taxed Americans 100% because he was for a progressive tax. It's painful to watch a non-believer attempt to use the Bible to prove a point, when it's evident they have no idea what they are talking about. Get the full story HERE.
