Founding Fathers Quote:

"To preserve independence...we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and Liberty, or profusion and servitude. ... The fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follow that, and in its turn wretchedness and oppression."

National Security Crisis

The Most Perilous National Security Crisis Since 1860

A Time to Choose: Prosperity or Poverty

By Mark Alexander | Thursday, April 7, 2011

The raucous political rhetoric over the federal budget sounds much like the perennial hyperbole between Right and Left over the constitutional authority of the central government and its spending priorities. However, the outcome of the current debate is much more than a budget agreement for next year and the next decade: It will determine whether our nation will avert systemic economic collapse or collide with it head-on, plunging us into the most significant National Security Crisis since 1860, and condemning our posterity to the inevitable institution of socialism and the abject tyranny that accompanies it.

Liberty Under Seige

On Tuesday, April 12th (7:00 PM), we are having a very important, urgent event on the-oppressive and lagging human rights-women, homosexuals, minorities, non-Islamic religions-under Shari'a Law both abroad and here in United States.  We recognize that part of what adds to the conflict is that in Islamic countries there is no separation mosque and state.  Of course, therein lays the problem because to question any Government entity is to question Allah and that is a crime punishable in various ways, depending on who you are.  This ultimately suppresses freedom of speech and encourages and perpetuates a torturous cycle of suppression of thought and expression.

There will be a Q&A at the end.

The event is meant to raise awareness of the horrific human crimes/conditions of persons both abroad and in America under Shari'a Law.

You can also find our Facebook event page here where you can confirm and through which you can invite as many persons as you'd like:

Gaza Mortar Hits Bus; Child, Civilians Wounded
Reports of Ongoing Fire

Schoolbus hit by anti-tank missile

Jerusalem, April 7 - A projectile fired from Hamas-controlled Gaza hit a bus carrying Israeli civilians today, injuring three people, including a young boy. The driver is reported to be in critical condition. The 13 year old has serious head wounds and medics are fighting to save his life.

As many as 50 children had been on the bus as it made its way from a regional middle school to drop them at their homes.

Alon Schuster, head of the Shaar haNegev regional authority, said the bus had been completely destroyed and confirmed that a teenage boy was seriously wounded.

The driver was also injured.
"The bus was heading from Nahal Oz to the school, and only one child and the driver were left on the bus, and they were hurt," said Yenina Banea, a local resident. "The other kids had just gotten off.
"We are all in shelters and hear bombing around us. Until two minutes ago (4:28 pm Israel time) we kept hearing bombs, but I didn't know if it's in Israel or in Gaza.
All the kids are in shelters," she said.
Minutes later there were reports of a direct hit on a home in the Israeli community of Ein Hashlosha.  No further details were immediately available.

The first mortar or anti-tank missile was launched at Kibbutz Saad close to the Gaza-Israel border, as children were returning from school.

178 mortars and rockets were launched from Gaza at Israel so far this year.

Residents in the area have been ordered into their bomb shelters.

"Hamas is responsible for any strikes that originate in Gaza," said Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

The Israel Project will continue to monitor this story.

Muslims Aren't Terrorists...Patriots ARE just ask Big Sis Napolitano

Apr 07, 2011 06:14 am | Coach Collins

 By Doug Book, staff writer

With the election approaching, Barack Hussein Obama has spared no effort in proclaiming his undying love of country (the United States, we are told) his veneration of the Constitution, his enduring belief in the power of prayer and the firm conviction that Americans have the right to keep and bear arms.

But we proletarians who manifest such sentiments had best beware the Department of Homeland Security and its commandant, Big Sis Napolitano.

For a proud assertion of patriotism by Americans who actually MEAN it may well succeed in marking one a Suspected Domestic Terrorist.

Veteran law enforcement officer James Wesley Rawles has attended training classes throughout his 18 years of service. But he writes that, over the years "...courses have moved away from a local community focus to a federally dominated model of complete social control." And the majority of these courses are sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security,  that is, the TSA and FEMA.

According to the Department, ... Continue Reading:Muslims Aren't Terrorists...Patriots ARE just ask Big Sis Napolitano

Act! for America

A Speaker at the ACT! for America 2010 National Conference writes on the Koran burning controversy

Find out more or register for this year's conference here

Andrew McCarthy, the lead prosecutor in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing who was a featured speaker at last year's ACT! for America national conference, writes an interesting commentary below (highlights added) on the recent burning of the Koran by Terry Jones.

You can also listen here to ACT! for America president Brigitte Gabriel discuss the issue of how our troops are required to handle the Koran.

Here at ACT! for America, we agree with McCarthy's observation that burning the Koran is counterproductive. We don't think burning a book to make a point advances one's cause.

Having said that, we strongly disagree with those like Senator Lindsay Graham who say such actions must be prevented because they will lead to violence in the Muslim world. What's next? Telling newspapers they can't print the Mohammed cartoons because that will lead to violence in the Muslim world? Where does such appeasement end?

As we see in Europe and the UK, it doesn't.

More On Koran Burning

April 5, 2011

Jonah, my problem with the Koran burning stunt is that it is counterproductive. I hear what you're saying about decency. But on that score, I don't find the burning any more offensive in principle than I do its opposite extreme: the bizarro hyper-reverence with which the Koran is handled by the Defense Department.

Down at Gitmo, the Defense Department gives the Koran to each of the terrorists even though DoD knows they interpret it (not without reason) to command them to kill the people who gave it to them. To underscore our precious sensitivity to Muslims, standard procedure calls for the the book to be handled only by Muslim military personnel. Sometimes, though, that is not possible for various reasons. If, as a last resort, one of our non-Muslim troops must handle or transport the book, he must wear white gloves, and he is further instructed primarily to use the right hand (indulging Muslim culture's taboo about the sinister left hand). The book is to be conveyed to the prisoners in a "reverent manner" inside a "clean dry towel." This is a nod to Islamic teaching that infidels are so low a form of life that they should not be touched (as Ayatollah Ali Sistani teaches, non-Muslims are "considered in the same category as urine, feces, semen, dead bodies, blood, dogs, pigs, alcoholic liquors," and "the sweat of an animal who persistently eats [unclean things]."

Fox News Poll: More Americans Want a New President Than Want Obama to Stay

One Big A Mistake AmericaFoxNews.com | By Dana Blanton | April 07, 2011

Forty-four percent of American voters think President Obama deserves to be re-elected, while slightly more -- 48 percent -- think the country would be better off with someone else, according to a Fox News poll released Thursday.

RedState Morning Briefing

For April 8, 2011

1. Barack Obama Takes Our Soldiers Hostage to a Shutdown

Over at Big Government, Mike Flynn has a fascinating post on what Barack Obama is doing to our soldiers.

In the past, American soldiers were classified as essential personnel. Therefore, should the government shut down our soldiers would keep getting paid.

But Barack Obama has decided to hold our American soldiers hostage to a government shutdown. The Commander-in-Chief has, via the Secretary of the Department of Defense, proposed classifying our men and women in harm's way as "non-essential." That means, should the government shut down, they will not be paid.

As Mike Flynn notes, during the previous two government shutdowns during the Reagan and Clinton Administrations, soldiers were treated as essential. Barack Obama is not following suit.

It is important to note that the "non-essential" classification is a draft recommendation, but it is a huge departure from prior shutdowns and comes directly from the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Why would Barack Obama and the Democrats do this? The answer is simple.

They need to change the message because right now they are losing. And they are willing to use our soldiers as hostages to get that message changed. Let me tell you why.

2. Why a Government Shutdown is Not a Bad Thing

The same media and Democrat communications apparati (but I repeat myself) that have been claiming that the Republican-proposed budget would kill 700,000 children are now wringing their hands about a looming "government shutdown," which we may assume would be fictively responsible for an astronomically higher number of deaths than a federal budget that spends 98.4% of what was spent the previous year.

If passing a budget alone really is the difference between life and death for hundreds of thousands of young Americans, the Democrats sure do have a lot of blood on their hands for the last year-plus they spent not passing a budget so that they wouldn't have to have difficult votes on their records heading into last November's electoral referendum on unsustainable fiscal practices.

3. Possibility of Terrorist Attacks Coming From Libya

Well that's a fine mess you've gotten us into Mr. Obama.

"The U.S. is monitoring the possibility of terrorist attacks originating in Libya, either from the forces of Muammar Qaddafi or rebels who may have associated with terror groups in the past, FBI Director Robert Mueller said."

I think any of us could and would expect terror attacks originating from (Kh)(G(h))(Q)addafi. But from the rebels?

4. Recount Gives Prosser a Lead in Wisconsin...For Now

I'm sure most of you remember that, according to the official results of the initial count, JoAnne Kloppenburg led the incumbent David Prosser 740,090 to 739,886, or by 204 votes. Obviously with results this close, a recount was in order.

Fortunately, things seem to be looking up for Prosser as the re-canvassing has brought more votes in for him. Many more.

Per the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, some more Prosser votes started to trickle in from Winnebago county, netting him 244 more votes, which translates into a 40 vote lead statewide.

The good news by no means ends there, though. The bombshell development that could seal this for Prosser came in the form of 7000+ votes for him that weren't counted in Waukesha County (a Prosser stronghold) thanks to a computer error.

5. Can't Afford Gas For Your Car? Trade It in, Rubes Says Obama

According to the AP, after bravely running away from the impending Government shut-down Crisis ™, President Obama attended a townhall meeting in Pennsylvania. During the course of the rally townhall meeting, he had this to say in response to a father of ten children relaying that he could not afford to fill his gas tank.

6. Obama to Reduce Gas Prices by Blowing Smoke

Oil and natural gas are our primary transportation fuels, supplying 97% of the energy (27 quadrillion BTUs!) that we use annually to move our cars, trucks, buses, boats, planes and trains.

The 3% that comes from renewables is ethanol.

Beware the man who tells you he's ever going to reduce our oil imports by growing wind and solar energy. Wind and solar are used to generate electricity, which they do in paltry amounts.

Beware the man who tells you that it's going to take a "couple of years" of high gas prices to turn things around.

Rep. Rangel: Dems Didn't Pass Budget In 2010 Because 'It Was A Hot Potato'

This interview is proof that progressive liberals just do not think like normal humans!

Charles Rangel (D-NY) on The O'Reilly Factor - April 7th, 2011

Rangel - "The budget is merely a guideline; it's not really the law.  It is something that we should follow."

When asked by O'Reilly "Nobody's life is effected by NPR, nobody's life is effected by Planned Parenthood, these are options." Rangel's replay was (warning - duct tape moment!) "I am telling you that when you cut environmental programs" . . . "We are trying to make certain that we are no longer dependent on oil, and that we don't put our men and women in harm's way, because every time there's a crisis. . ."

Americans for Prosperity

Yesterday with over 1,000 cheering AFP activists standing on the Capitol grounds in Washington, D.C., Michelle Bachman put it best when she said President Obama, Harry Reid and then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi had an entire year to get the budget completed and they failed -- miserably.

Now, with a government shutdown looming, those three liberals want to blame -- you guessed it -- the Tea Party and the new Republican leadership in Congress for their failures.

At the same time, these three liberals are venomously attacking Budget Chairman Paul Ryan's 2012 fiscal year budget (remember the Federal government budget runs from October 1 to September 30) that, while not perfect, offers a bold start down the road to cutting government spending and reining in deficits.

Click here to view more photos of yesterday's "Cut Spending Now" Rally.

In a nutshell, the last Congress controlled by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid NEVER passed a 2011 budget. They knew better than to pass yet another big spending budget before an election (though it didn't help them much!).  So, they simply passed a series of what are called Continuing Resolutions to fund the government piecemeal.  When Speaker Boehner took charge of the new GOP leadership, he proposed $30 billion in cuts for this budget but a chorus of conservatives rightly demanded deeper cuts.  The GOP House then passed $61 billion in cuts in a budget to fund the rest of the 2011 budget year.  Harry Reid, on the other hand, proposed a trivial $10 billion in cuts and while holding 53 to 47 majority in the Senate, still couldn't get it to pass. (now that's leadership).

The Republicans in the House are rightly refusing to cave in and accept the much smaller cuts that Obama and Reid are offering.  Take action today by clicking here and telling your senators and representative that you support cutting spending to help balance the budget.

If a government shutdown occurs, as appears likely, the fault clearly lies with President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.  It was galling to see President Obama tell the Republicans they should be "adults" when the President, Reid and then-Speaker Pelosi had an ENTIRE YEAR to pass their 2011 and never got it done!

As I said at our rally yesterday, at the current rate of spending our nation's debt will double during President Obama's 4-year term.  In fact, he's the first "triple trillion dollar politician" -- 3 budgets he's put forward ... 3 $1 trillion plus budget deficits.  To use a phrase the President likes to use, "Let me be clear" when it comes to spending and deficits and debt President Obama is the biggest failure in American history.

While the shutdown appears imminent over the 2011 spending, Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan released a bold 2012 budget along with a 10-year budget blueprint. Encouraging elements of the proposal include reforms to existing entitlement programs such as Medicaid and pro-growth tax reforms such as cutting the $800 billion tax increase from ObamaCare and by calling for a top individual and corporate rate of 25 percent. Click here to read more about Chairman Ryan's 2012 budget proposal.

The predictable chorus of hysterical attacks from the Left began within seconds.  The most ridiculous was Nancy Pelosi (having failed to pass a budget when she was in charge) claiming that millions of senior citizens would starve if this Ryan budget is passed.  Shockingly, most of the mainstream media did not ask her to prove this outrageous untruth.

There's good news and bad news.

First the good:  we are on offense.  Yesterday at the rally, Congressman Mike Pence leaned over to me before he went to the microphones to speak and said, "Tim, the entire debate is not about bigger government or smaller government -- the American public has spoken on that.  It's about how big the cuts will be and that's a great start."

The bad news:  we're in for a long, hard fight and the Left is going to ratchet up their dishonest, personal, vicious attacks on our policies and us individually.  Remember when Nancy Pelosi called us "un-American" during the health care battle and Harry Reid called us "evil-mongers"?  It's going to get worse.

But, we can win.  If, we keep fighting.

I know you're going to do just that.

Sincerely,

Tim

(Love it or Hate it, this will probably make at least one liberal head explode!)

Remember Rebecca Black? She's the 13-year-old behind the viral, 88-million views video hit "Friday" - the song that spawned wishes for her death because it may have been the "worst song ever."

Now, there have been a lot of parodies of the song. And by now, the song itself may be slightly stale (although I play it every Friday morning). But when someone makes a Christian version of the song - complete with a doppelganger music video - that deserves a little coverage.

Glenn BeckBeck Predicts Liberals Will be 'Crapping' Their Pants a Year From Now

The Blaze | by Jonathon M. Seidl | April 7, 2011

There's not much that can be said here, really, besides that Glenn Beck is using classic Glenn Beck to answer his critics.

On radio today, Beck responded to the liberals who are predicting his demise by issuing a prediction: "One year from now, you on the left will be crapping yourself so much, you haven't crapped in your pants as much as you will in a year from now. ... You'll crap yourself more than when you were a baby. And you will find Jesus."

Funding the Right Force to Protect America

A battle continues to rage in Washington over the 2011 federal budget, and a long-term war on how to cut the $14.3 trillion dollar deficit is about to begin. But as political opponents spar over spending, the United States military is waging a real war in Afghanistan, helping to stabilize Iraq, conducting operations across the globe from Libya to Yemen, Haiti to Somalia, and providing assistance to Japan following its natural disaster. With the prospect of a government shutdown looming, some in Congress have rightly devoted special attention to ensuring our military remains fully funded in the short term. But as the debate begins over the 2012 budget and beyond, both Congress and the White House must field the right military force to protect America today and into the future.

Asked About Rising Gas Prices, Obama Says, 'Think About A Trade-In'

With demand for oil contributing to the price hike - and on top of that, the upheavels in the Middle East making folks "nervous" -- President Obama said there are three things the U.S. can do - but nothing that will work in the next few weeks.

Soldiers Won't Get Paid Under Government Shutdown, Medicare Payments Would Continue
(CNSNews.com) - Soldiers will continue to earn money but not be paid during a government shutdown, a senior Obama administration official said. "They will not receive their paychecks until we have money again and Congress appropriates."

Capitol Elevator Operators Being Prepared for Furlough
(CNSNews.com) - At a Capitol Hill press conference intended to highlight the GOP budget's impact on senior citizens, Rep. Jan Shakowsky (D-Ill.) said that those who run elevators in government buildings are being prepared for a potential government shutdown. "I know meetings are being held all over the Capitol to prepare people, like the people who run our elevators, for some sort of a furlough," she said.

Two Republicans Top 'Taxpayers' Friends' List, Two Democrats at 'Rock Bottom'

(CNSNews.com) -Sen. John McCain and Rep. Jeff Flake topped the "Taxpayers' Friends" list in their respective chambers of Congress, according to a ranking from the National Taxpayers Union. In fact, the Arizona Republicans both achieved record rankings for taxpayer-friendliness, NTU reported this week. On the other hand, 264 senators and representatives were labeled "Big Spenders" - none bigger than Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) and Sen. Pat Leahy (D-Vt.), NTU said.

Without Reforms, U.S. Funding for U.N. 'Will Be in Jeopardy,' Republicans Warn Obama

(CNSNews.com) - The battle over funding for the United Nations is heating up in Congress, as U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon each visited Capitol Hill this week, pressing the U.N.'s biggest contributor to pay up, in full and on time. The flurry of activity comes amid congressional initiatives aimed at withholding or cutting back on funding for the U.N.

Kyoto Protocol's Days May be Numbered

(CNSNews.com) - As the Kyoto Protocol's 2012 expiration date draws closer, U.N. climate negotiations underway in Bangkok this week appear no closer to reaching an agreement that would extend or replace it. Under the 1997 protocol, almost 40 industrialized nations - but not the U.S. or China -- were required to cut their emissions of carbon dioxide and other "greenhouse gases" by prescribed amounts until 2012.

Alec Baldwin: Financial Crisis Has 'Crippled' Obama, Preventing Him From 'Doing Any New Spending'
(CNSNews.com) - Actor Alec Baldwin told CNSNews.com that he believes the financial crisis has "crippled" President Barack Obama, preventing him from doing any "new spending." Baldwin also said Obama has been doing "a lot" of "back-peddling" because he's had to spend his whole first term "trying" to correct America's financial course.

Washington (CNSNews.com) - Drug traffickers and other criminals seeking to enter the U.S. through a Customs and Border Protection-controlled port of entry to commit a "major violation" have a 70 percent chance of not being apprehended, a U.S. House subcommittee hearing was told this week. Yet at points along the southwest border in between the POEs, the CBP is able to catch criminals 70 percent of the time, the hearing was told.

NBC's Brokaw: Saudis 'So Unhappy' With Obama They Sent Emissaries to China, Russia Seeking Enhanced Ties

(CNSNews.com) - Reporting from Baghdad on Tuesday, NBC's Tom Brokaw said the Saudi Arabian monarchy is "so unhappy with the Obama administration for the way it pushed out President Mubarak of Egypt" that it has sent senior officials to the Peoples' Republic of China and Russia to seek expanded business opportunities with those countries.

COMMENTARY:

President Obama's New Anti-American Secretary of State

By Ben Shapiro
To replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, President Obama reportedly may appoint an anti-Israel fanatic and a myopic internationalist who couldn't care less about doing what is right for America. Her name is Samantha Power, and she bills herself as a human rights activist. In fact, she is an anti-Israel fanatic and a myopic internationalist who couldn't care less about doing what is right for America. She has argued in favor of the so-called "responsibility to protect," an internationalist fantasy requiring the United States to place its men and women in harm's way in order to stop anything bad going on anywhere in the world.

A Better Way to Reform Welfare

By Ed Feulner
When President Clinton signed landmark welfare-reform legislation in 1996, he said it would "end welfare as we know it." Fifteen years later, though, welfare isn't close to being ended. The U.S. has already spent $16 trillion since President Lyndon Johnson launched his "War on Poverty" in 1964. And we're on pace to add another $10 trillion in just the next decade. Small wonder that some lawmakers are mounting a new reform effort

SCHOOL CHOICE

SPECIAL UPDATE 4/7/11

VOUCHERS AND TAXES AND LIES...OH MY

Some supporters of Senate Bill 1 believe that if your family can afford to move to a better school district - that is "school choice".

As the vote draws closer on Senate Bill 1, the public continues to be misled.  Lawmakers and organizations are readying their post to push a vote for SB1 (School Choice Bill) while continuing to promote the FALSE premise that ALL Pennsylvania families will have the ability to choose the education which is best for their children. In reality, only those making under 130% of the poverty line (FREE school lunch program) will qualify for a $9,000 voucher. Anyone making over 130% (roughly $28,000) is excluded.  Senate Bill 1 will leave thousands of children in failing, and sometimes violent schools.

SB1 was crafted with the intent of forcing the unions to get their "act together" and create competition. However, under Superintendent Ackerman's IMAGINE 2014 plan for Philadelphia, all historically failing schools will close or be transitioned into Renaissance Schools by 2014 anyway.  Building closures, program consolidations and co-locations are all being considered.  Four "chronically low performing" high schools and two elementary schools were just recently given the green light to transition to Renaissance Schools while turnaround teams continue to work with other chronically low performing schools.  So why isn't this conversation taking place parallel to SB1 when the entire Philadelphia School System is being overhauled?  Interestingly enough, under the unlawful legislation of "No child left behind", all government run schools must be in compliance by 2014.

Homeschool families and Private cyber school students are excluded from receiving any form of tax credit.  The homeschool community alone, saved the state $286 million dollars in 2009 yet they are considered a class of people that has voluntarily opted out of a mandatory public education system, forfeiting the right to any provision, tax credit or otherwise.

The successful EITC Scholarship money will be increased in SB1, but the average scholarship is only $1,100.  This is not enough for most low-middle income families.  Some proponents of SB1 articulate their definition of school choice by saying, one size does not fit all ... it is not always about education ... if your child is being bullied, or if they are attending a school where violence is prevalent and they have the means to move into a better district ... "that is school choice". Wow!  So what happens to the low-middle children who only qualify for a few scholarship dollars?  Simple, they are left behind in a failing system where violence and bullying is prevalent.  Is that school choice?  No. That is the reality of Senate Bill 1.

Pennsylvania deserves the TRUTH about SB1.  We did not vote for incrementalism last November.  We certainly did not vote for a $100 million dollar entitlement program that would leave the low-middle income families working several jobs and having latch key kids.  Why is this the best "they can do"?  Pennsylvania families deserve a "better, more comprehensive bill".

Call your state representative and ask them to amend Senate Bill.  Watch PSA for REAL SCHOOL CHOICE.

Paul Ryan's Adult Conversation

This column by ACRU General Counsel and Policy Director for the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) Peter Ferrara was published April 6 on The American Spectator website.

Before Paul Ryan's 2012 budget released yesterday, the Liberal Establishment was telling us that what was needed was an adult conversation on the budget and entitlements. Now that they have got their adult conversation, they can't handle it.

The Washington Post's E.J. Dionne began the brain-dead name calling, labeling the Ryan budget "radical," "irresponsible," and "extreme." This began the Post's shameful institutional policy of not reporting to its readers what the Ryan budget actually does, as compared to President Obama's budget, which I will show by the numbers below is actually what is radical, irresponsible, and extreme. The Post's institutional policy is to mislead its readers on the issue, in service to Democrat party politics.

Diversity Perversity

This column by ACRU Policy Board Member and Professor of Economics Dr. Walter E. Williams was published April 6 on Townhall.com.

The terms affirmative action, equal representation, preferential treatment and quotas just don't sell well. The intellectual elite and their media, government and corporate enthusiasts have come up with diversity, a seemingly benign term that's a cover for racially discriminatory policy. They call for college campuses, corporate offices and government agencies to "look like America."

Part of looking like America means if blacks are 13 percent of the population, they should be 13 percent of college students and professors, corporate managers and government employees. Behind this vision of justice is the silly notion that but for the fact of discrimination, we'd be distributed equally by race across incomes, education, occupations and other outcomes. There is absolutely no evidence that statistical proportionality is the norm anywhere on Earth; however, much of our thinking, laws and public policy is based upon proportionality being the norm.

ACRU Brief Challenges Health Care Law

The American Civil Rights Union filed an amicus curiae brief on April 4 in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in support of Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli in the case of Commonwealth of Virginia v. Kathleen Sebelius seeking to strike down Obamacare as unconstitutional. The brief argued that Obamacare's individual mandate is unconstitutional because the delegated, enumerated power in the Commerce Clause to regulate interstate commerce does not include compelling purchase of government designated health insurance.

President Obama & Senate Democrats Have No Excuse for "Shutting Down" the Federal Government

As a member of the Conservative Action Project, ACRU CEO Susan Carleson and leaders of 23 other organizations representing a broad cross section of the conservative movement are united in the belief that if there is a government shutdown, it will be the fault of Senate Democrats and President Obama.

MEMO FOR THE MOVEMENT: President Obama & Senate Democrats Have No Excuse for "Shutting Down" the Federal Government

RE: The Republican led House of Representatives passed a spending plan this past February for Fiscal Year 2011 with $61 billion in spending cuts--because last year the Democrats never passed a budget! The Democrat led Senate has failed to pass their own plan and President Obama has been largely silent. Now some are talking about a government shutdown--really a "slowdown" since vital services keep running-- if an agreement to reduce government spending cannot be reached. In a time of fiscal crisis President Obama and Senate Democrats are refusing to do what every household in America is doing--control spending.

Obama's Energetic War on the Young

This column by ACRU Senior Fellow Robert Knight was published April 1 on The Washington Times website.

President Obama needs to reinvent reality, so where does he go? A college campus. And why not? With gas doubling in price toward $4 a gallon, what better place to talk energy than to backpacking cyclists at trendy, urban Georgetown University? It's a far friendlier crowd than, say, one composed of truckers, commuters or laid-off workers.

Besides, the last time Mr. Obama spoke at Georgetown, on April 14, 2009, college officials complied with a White House request to cover up pesky Christian symbols behind the presidential podium. Georgetown is a very friendly place for the O Force.

YouCut

Last week's winning YouCut item, championed by Rep. Allen West, reduces the printing budget for the Department of Defense by ten percent. As promised, this week we brought this proposal to the House floor for a vote, where I am pleased to report that it passed overwhelmingly.

The next three items are already up on the YouCut website; click here to cast your vote, and we will bring the winning item up to the House floor for a vote.

The federal government borrows nearly 40 cents of every dollar it spends, and is over $14 trillion in debt. We cannot keep spending money that we don't have. House Republicans will lead by reducing spending and providing commonsense solutions to our country's fiscal crisis.

We must hold firm to make sure that Washington begins to live within its means, so that we can continue our focus on growing the economy, creating jobs, and getting people back to work.

Regards,

Rep. Eric Cantor
Majority Leader

Muslim menTheir parasitical behavior obliges governments, through taxpayers, to subsidize their adopted country's own destruction.

PAJAMAS MEDIA | by Kathy Shaidle | April 4, 2011

In 2008, the Toronto Sun reported that "hundreds of [Greater Toronto Area] Muslim men in polygamous marriages - some with a harem of wives - are receiving welfare and social benefits for each of their spouses, thanks to the city and province, Muslim leaders say."

"Polygamy is a regular part of life for many Muslims," Canadian Society of Muslims president Mumtaz Ali declared bluntly. "Ontario recognizes religious marriages for Muslims and others."

Government officials quickly denied the Muslim leader's claims about immigration law and social benefits regulations. Only one public servant seemed sufficiently concerned. "This is wrong," said city councilor Rob Ford. "They should put a stop to this immediately."

To: Friends & Supporters

From: Gary L. Bauer

THANK YOU!!!

Thank you, my friends! You really came through in a big way! Our online totals yesterday were more than double the funds raised Tuesday, and I know more is coming in the mail. I know many of you are tired and struggling financially. But this fight for America is a marathon, not a sprint. It did not end on November 2, 2010. We must continue to run the race and persevere in the good fight for faith, family and freedom! Again, thank you for your support and encouragement!

Shutdown Showdown

News in Washington regarding the budget showdown is changing by the hour. Speaker Boehner and Harry Reid met late last night and President Obama summoned them back to the White House again today. Harry Reid claims to have a general agreement on the numbers, but says the problem is ideology.

Just to be clear, House Republicans don't want your tax dollars being spent on abortions and that is what Reid is objecting to, saying, "These matters have no place on a budget bill." So Harry Reid seems willing to let the government shut down in order to ensure that abortions performed in Washington, D.C., are paid for with your hard-earned tax dollars.

But if the government does in fact shut down, who will get the blame? Republicans, if you believe the media spin. A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll finds that a plurality of voters (37%) would blame Republicans for a government shutdown. Of course, many left-wing talking heads mentioned that statistic alone. But according to the poll, 20% would blame congressional Democrats and another 20% would blame President Obama. That's 40% blaming Democrats and 37% blaming Republicans -- basically a dead heat.

Here's more from the poll: 56% of self-identified Republicans want congressional Republican leaders to "stick to their positions" on the budget. But 68% of Democrats want "Democratic leaders in the House and Senate to make compromises to gain consensus on the current budget debate."

Naturally, the liberal media insist that Democrats are being reasonable and willing to reach out to Republicans, who are being stubborn and refusing to budge. In their mind, "compromise" means Republicans give in and Democrats win. But I think they are misreading the results. Other findings in the poll suggest Americans want the Democrats to back down and cut the budget! For example:

  • Only 28% of Americans think the country is headed in the right direction.
  • 52% of respondents disapprove of Obama's handling of the economy.
  • 61% say Obama has devoted "too little attention" to the economy and 63% say he has devoted "too little attention" to the federal deficit.
  • When asked which party they thought would do a better job of dealing with the deficit, respondents chose the Republican Party by a 12-point margin over the Democrats.

Having said that, the poll also asked voters where they got most of their information on politics and current events. Thirty-seven percent mentioned the broadcast networks: ABC, CBS and NBC; 16% said CNN and 8% said MSNBC. Just 23% said they got their news from Fox News. That's 61% of the country getting their information from biased left-wing sources.

Remember that the next time you get frustrated with conservative leaders who "aren't making the case for our values." Trust me, my friends, they are. But the liberal media won't report it, so most Americans won't even know about it. You can help by forwarding these reports to friends and family members and encouraging them to sign up!

Obama Using Troops As Pawns

There has been a lot of talk in the past few days about just how bad a government shutdown would be. Some suggest it isn't that bad at all and refer to it as a government "slowdown." Obama has suggested it would be devastating to the economic recovery.

Yesterday, the White House released a statement indicating that a government shutdown would affect 800,000 federal workers, and a senior administration official told reporters that active duty service personnel would not get paid. Speaking in Iraq, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates tried to clarify that our troops would not lose money, but that their paychecks could be delayed.

The liberal media quickly picked up these statements and ran wild with them, suggesting that because of House Republicans and the Tea Party, our soldiers wouldn't get paid. This is hogwash!

The president has wide discretion to decide the "rules" of a government shutdown. Moreover, John Boehner has repeatedly said that he wants to ensure that our troops get paid. In fact, the House passed another short-term continuing resolution this afternoon that fully funds the Pentagon through the rest of 2011 and thus ensures that our troops will be paid.

This is a brilliant move on Boehner's part. He's doing what he can to keep the government open, he's cutting more spending, he's funding the troops and he's forcing Harry Reid's hand. But guess what? Shortly after 12:00, President Obama threatened to veto the legislation.

So let's be clear: If the president vetoes this bill, the government will shut down. And if the troops don't get paid because the government shuts down, it will be ENTIRELY Obama's fault, since he vetoed the bill to keep it open! House Republicans, however, are vowing to stay in Washington until Congress gets its fiscal house in order!

TAKE ACTION: We are hearing from sources on Capitol Hill that Harry Reid will take up the continuing resolution and offer an amendment to strip out any pro-life "policy riders." Please call your senators right now at 202-224-3121 and tell them that you do not want your tax dollars paying for abortions!

Democrats Prop Up "Employment Prevention Agency"

Congressional Republicans have vowed to rein in the job-destroying policies coming out of Obama's Environmental Protection Agency, including the EPA's efforts to impose a national energy tax or cap-and-trade scheme. Yesterday, the Senate voted on four amendments to scale back the EPA's authority. Unfortunately, none of them reached the necessary threshold of 60 votes to pass.

It is noteworthy that three of the amendments were sponsored by Senate Democrats. The bill that got the most support (50 votes) was offered by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who wanted to fully repeal the EPA's authority to regulate greenhouse gases. However, in the Senate it often requires 60 votes, not just 51, to pass legislation.

There is bi-partisan agreement that Obama's EPA is out-of-control. Nevertheless, the overwhelming majority of Senate Democrats voted to support Obama's "Employment Prevention Agency" as it continues its war against America's energy companies and other major industries.

It is encouraging to see conservatives leading the charge to roll back big government's job-killing policies. But these votes are another reminder why our work and your continued involvement in politics is so important. For conservative policies to have a chance, we need a majority in the Senate. To really succeed, we need 60 votes. Democrats had 60 votes last year, and they used that power to pass ObamaCare.

Who Are We Fighting For?

by Patrick J. Buchanan

04/05/2011

On March 20, Pastor Terry Jones, who heads a congregation of 30 at his Dove World Outreach Center church in Gainesville, Fla., conducted a mock trial of the Quran "for crimes against humanity."

Pronouncing Islam's sacred book guilty, Jones soaked a Quran in kerosene and set it ablaze in a portable fire pit.

Few noticed. But Hamid Karzai did.

On March 24, the president of Afghanistan, our presumed ally in the war with al-Qaida and the Taliban, condemned this "crime against the religion and the entire Muslim nation," called on the United States to bring Jones to justice and demanded "a satisfactory response to the resentment and anger of over 1.5 billion Muslims around the world."

Thus the firebrand here is not just Jones, who perpetrated the sacrilege, but Karzai, who made certain his countrymen knew what happened 10,000 miles away and four days before.

Friday, after prayers in Mazer-e-Sharif, a mob, inflamed by imams denouncing Jones, descended on the U.N. compound. When they left, seven U.N. employees lay dead, two reportedly beheaded.

President Obama denounced Jones' "act of extreme intolerance and bigotry," and added that "to attack and kill innocent people in response is outrageous and an affront to human dignity and decency."

Gen. David Petraeus deplored the Quran-burning as "hateful, disrespectful and enormously intolerant."

Still, on Saturday, rioters waving Taliban flags and shouting "Death to America" and "Death to Karzai" went on a rampage in Kandahar that ended with nine Afghans dead and 80 injured when they tried to march on the U.N. compound and security troops fired on them.

Three more were killed Sunday as riots continued in Kandahar and spread to Jalalabad. Forty more suffered gunshot wounds.

Petraeus then met with Karzai, who issued a new statement demanding that "the U.S. government, Senate and Congress clearly condemn (the Rev. Jones') dire action and avoid such incidents in the future."

In short, our ally seized this opportunity to rub America's nose in what the Rev. Jones did, as though the U.S. government, whose highest civilian and military officials had condemned Jones, is morally culpable for not preventing his Quran-burning and not punishing him for it.

Nor is this sufficient. Henceforth, the U.S. government is to police its citizenry to ensure no such anti-Islamic sacrilege takes place again.

Intending no disrespect, who do these people think they are?

Undeniably, it was an incendiary insult to a religion professed by almost a fourth of the world's people for Jones to do what he did. But what does this murderous reaction to a book-burning tell us about the people for whose right of self-determination Americans are fighting and dying in Afghanistan?

Candidly, it affirms what we already knew.

Many Afghans believe beheading or stoning is the right response to an insult to Islam. And not only that. Five years ago, Abdul Rahman, an Afghan convert to Christianity, faced the death penalty for apostasy and was forced to flee his own country.

In some Muslim countries, death is the prescribed punishment for Muslims who convert, for Christians who seek converts and for any who insult Islam, like that Danish cartoonist who sketched a caricature of the Prophet with a fused bomb for a turban.

Stoning is also seen as proper punishment for women who commit adultery.

In Pakistan recently, the governor of Punjab and the Cabinet minister for religious minorities, both Catholics, were assassinated. Why? Both had opposed a law under which a Christian woman had been sentenced to death after some farmhands accused her of blasphemy.

The governor was murdered by his own bodyguard, who was then hailed by 500 religious scholars who urged all Muslims to boycott the governor's funeral ceremony, as he had gotten what he deserved.

In the last two years, Christians have been burned alive by Muslims in Gorja, Pakistan, and by Hindu extremists in Orissa, India. Christian churches have been torched and scores of the faithful massacred on holy days in Iraq and Egypt. Few of these atrocities have received the media attention of the Rev. Jones' stupid stunt or the Danish cartoonist's irreverent scribbles.

Before America sends more of her sons to die for the freedom of Arabs and Muslims, perhaps we ought to have a better idea of what these folks intend to do with that freedom. For across that Muslim world, the faith that created our world, Christianity, is being persecuted and in some sectors annihilated.

To neocons and liberal interventionists, the goal of U.S. foreign policy should be to use our wealth and power to advance freedom until the whole world is democratic. Only then can we be secure.

But if democracy means rule by the people, ought we not to inquire a little more closely what it is these people, down deep, really want, before we bleed and bankrupt ourselves to win it for them?

Maybe Hosni Mubarak had a point.

Shutdown looms - talks continue.

 Government Shutdown

Harry Reed blamed a threatened government shutdown on House Speaker John Boehner's insistence on keeping conservative policy prescriptions for the environment and abortion in a funding bill that must be passed by midnight Friday.
Amid virtually round-the-clock wrangling, the White House called key lawmakers to another meeting with President Barack Obama this afternoon.
Among the abortion battles on the bill is a ban on taxpayer-funded abortions in Washington, D.C., an effort to restrict U.S. aid to overseas family planning groups that perform abortions and cutting off Planned Parenthood.
Reed said the Senate could still avert a shutdown by approving the one-week stopgap House Republicans plan to send over. [Associated Press, April 7]

Donald Trump's
support
surges in
New Hampshire.

Photo of Donald Trump

Trump picked up the support of 21 percent of state primary voters, behind only 27 percent for Mitt Romney according to the survey from Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling (PPP).
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee tied for third with 12 percent support apiece.
Trump will head to the Granite State in June to address the "Politics and Eggs" speaking series in Concord, N.H., an important stop on the state's political circuit for any would-be candidate. He is also traveling to Iowa, another early voting hot spot.
The New Hampshire survey followed a Harris Poll last week that measured Trump tied with Romney as the top pick for Republicans nationwide. [New York Post, March 5]

Rasmussen:
48% Prefer
Tea Party
to Congress.

 Rasmussen logo

The poll finds that 48 percent of Likely U.S. Voters say that when it comes to the major issues facing the country, their views are closer to the average tea party member as opposed to the average member of Congress.
Just 22 percent say their views are closest to those of the average congressman. Even more (30 percent) aren't sure.
This shows little change from a survey in late March of last year. [Newsmax, April 7]

Americans for Prosperity

My Fellow Pennsylvanians,

What a great day we had yesterday down in Washington D.C.! Three bus loads of our friends and neighbors headed down to the Capitol to join me and the AFP national staff to have our voices heard. But we were not there just for ourselves. We were there for you too, for all of the hard working Pennsylvania taxpayers.

Our message was to the Congress, especially those many Congressmen wavering during the budget process. We must encourage them to do the right thing for America and rein in out-of-control spending and America's skyrocketing national debt.

Click here to view more photos of yesterday's "Cut Spending Now" Rally.

The simple truth is that Washington spends too much, wastes too much, and isn't 11accountable to us, the taxpayers. Families across America are tightening their belts and making tough choices to make ends meet. It is time for government to do the same.

In the days ahead, the budget battle will be escalating. Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi will continue to pull out every stop to promote their radical, undisciplined tax and spend and agenda and to preserve Big Government.

We must stop them.

Today's rally was just the first step. Standing up for America's economic prosperity and defending the principles of limited government and individual freedom will require a steadfast commitment and resolve in taking the radical left agenda head on.

Together, I know this is a battle we can and must win. You and I won major battles last November. And with the same commitment and fortitude, you and I will defeat radical agenda and put America back on the path to prosperity.

To all of you who took time out of your life to board the buses, to all of you working so hard for our nation, we thank you.

For Prosperity,

Sam Rohrer, State Director
Jennifer Stefano, Director of Communications
Katy Abram, Director of Policy

Obama Stamp

The Postal Services created a stamp with a picture of President Obama on it. The Postal Service noticed that the stamp was not sticking to envelopes. This enraged the President, who demanded a full investigation. After a month of testing and $1.73 million in congressional spending, a special Presidential commission presented the following findings:

1.The stamp is in perfect order.
2. There is nothing wrong with the glue.
3.  People are spitting on the wrong side

 Say to a liberal:

"Yeah, I used to think that way before my frontal lobes had developed. You'll grow out of it." Elaborate by explaining that liberalism is the philosophy of the adolescent: whiny, insecure, full of big crazy ideas that have no practical application in the real world, and with a tragically inflated sense of entitlement.

Glenn BeckApril 07, 2011

On Thursday's Program

The hilarious media/blog coverage of Glenn's Fox News announcement

In the wake of Glenn announcing his new agreement with Fox News, which explained that Glenn will 'develop and produce a variety of television projects for air on the Fox News Channel as well as content for other platforms including Fox News' digital properties.' and 'transition off his daily program'. The media is making all kinds of hilarious attempts at explaining and 'investigating' Glenn's decision. Check out Glenn's reaction to the cute attempts by the left to bash him HERE.

LOL: some media coverage of Glenn's decision

  • Chris Matthews gives himself credit - STORY
  • Larry O'Donnell exposes his own crappy ratings while highlighting Glenn's astronomic numbers - STORY
  • GMA 'investigates' Glenn's decision to leave Fox - STORY

Speaking of funny: The reporting is riddled with so many untruths, these attempts stand a good chance of being used as material for Glenn's upcoming comedy tour - which starts TOMORROW! Get all the dates and ticket info HERE.

Stu's advice for Glenn: Stu has been hard at work putting together a laundry list of possible future business ventures and outlets for Glenn to try, including but not limited to curator at soon to be mysteriously burned down Woodrow Wilson Museum. Get Stu's complete idea list HERE.

What's Next? 'It's a New Era'

There's a lot of speculation going on - aside from Stu's wild ideas - about what this will all mean for Glenn and how people will get their daily dose of all things Beck. Glenn spoke with a caller on radio today who asked what a lot of fans are probably asking. What's next? Get Glenn's explanation of what the future holds - with as many details as he can possibly divulge at this point in time. You can watch that HERE.

One thing for sure: There's always plenty of Glenn Beck on INSIDER EXTREME! Plus Czar-at-Large Brian Sack, the 4th Hour with Stu & Pat, The  S.E. Cupp Show, original documentaries like Rumors of War and upcoming Rumors of War II, tons of behind the scenes footage, non-bikini photo shoots, archives, comedy, Beck University and much much more! PLUS, can't make it to Glenn's comedy show live? Insider Extreme will be broadcasting the Albany stage show next Saturday, April 16th at 8 pm ET. You are not going to want to miss this show...GET DETAILS HERE.

Glenn interviews Pastor John Hagee

Glenn has been increasingly concerned about the safety of the state of Israel given all the recent turmoil and changes in the Middle East. Now, there's another 'Freedom Flotilla' scheduled to make its way to Gaza next month. Last year Israeli soldiers were badly beaten and even stabbed on a 'Freedom Flotilla' similar to the one planned for this May. Glenn spoke with Pastor John Hagee who understands as good as anyone the role Israel plays in history and the world today. How dire is the situation? Check out the interview HERE. This summer Glenn will be the keynote speaker at the national Night to Honor Israel Banquet during the Washington Summit- get details HERE.

Mass graves found in Mexico

59 bodies were found buried in a series of pits in northern Mexico near the site where drug gangs slaughtered 72 migrants last year. More evidence that the cartels are more violent now than ever before - get the full story from The Blaze.
