On April 27th Senator Pat Toomey will help us cut through the left's hysterical rhetoric on the debt ceiling, be sure to save the date. The facts are clear, and the Obama administration is wrong. America will not default because the federal government would have more than enough revenue coming in to pay the interest on our nation's debt. Join us to get the facts before Members of Congress rush through any more "emergency" measures that come at the expense of our children and grandchildren.  Senator Toomey will be joined by J.D. Foster of The Heritage Foundation for what is sure to be an informative evening. Let us know to expect you by submitting your RSVP via our event page on Facebook, or through the heritageaction.comevent page.

Please RSVP through only one site only so we can keep an accurate count. This event starts promptly at 7:00pm and will take place at the Fort Washington Holiday Inn.

Dear Patriot,

Western Civilization is dying.  The people of the West are sick not only in the outward conditions of our social and political life, not only in the loss of the control of our destiny, but in many respects the very values and ideals on which we prided ourselves, and upon which guided our course and propelled the Western peoples on all fronts.

Western Civilization - including the United States - is at a crossroads.  And the question before us is:  Which Way Western Man?

To discuss this subject we have two excellent presenters who will address this question with facts, figures and solutions.

First up we will host Peter Brimelow, author of the national best-seller, "Alien Nation: Common Sense About America's Immigration Disaster" and Editor of VDare.com.  Our second speaker will be Louis March, author of, "Immigration and the End of Self Government" and Chairman of the Representative Government Education Foundation.  Mr. March is a former senior staffer of Senator Jesse Helms.

Please join us this Wednesday, April 6th, 7pm at The Temperance House in Newtown.  **PLEASE NOTE OUR CHANGE OF VENUE DUE TO WASHINGTON XING INN'S RENOVATIONS**  The Temperance House is located at 5 South State Street in Newtown, Bucks County.

I look forward to seeing you this Wednesday!

All the best,

Liberty Under Seige

On Tuesday, April 12th (7:00 PM), we are having a very important, urgent event on the-oppressive and lagging human rights-women, homosexuals, minorities, non-Islamic religions-under Shari'a Law both abroad and here in United States.  We recognize that part of what adds to the conflict is that in Islamic countries there is no separation mosque and state.  Of course, therein lays the problem because to question any Government entity is to question Allah and that is a crime punishable in various ways, depending on who you are.  This ultimately suppresses freedom of speech and encourages and perpetuates a torturous cycle of suppression of thought and expression.

There will be a Q&A at the end.

The event is meant to raise awareness of the horrific human crimes/conditions of persons both abroad and in America under Shari'a Law.

You can also find our Facebook event page here where you can confirm and through which you can invite as many persons as you'd like:

We pride ourselves in introducing conversations and creating a dialogue and debates on issues that otherwise would be omitted from the Temple University arena of thought and debate.

American Muslim leader issues fatwa against democracy!

Andrew Bostom, one of the featured speakers at our National Conference & Legislative Briefing in June, forwarded an email to us last week.

That email, reprinted below, reveals a new fatwa issued by the secretary-general of the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA). True to sharia law, this fatwa opposes democracy.

Lest anyone tell you we don't need to be concerned about this, point out to them that this is the Assembly of Muslim Jurists, not of Saudi Arabia, but of AMERICA.

AMJA is the same organization that has ruled there can be no "rape" in marriage, as we explained in an email we sent out on October 28, 2010, because a husband can demand sexual relations from his wife and she must consent. When a New Jersey judge ruled in 2009 that a Muslim husband who was raping his wife had not committed a crime, it is this application of sharia law that the husband relied on.

Exposed!
The 'modern-day Muslim delusion'

Investigators uncover the inside details about Islamic advocates

It's been causing waves ever since its release just one year ago, and now "Muslim Mafia," which uses 12,000 pages of incriminating evidence to document the sinister side of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, is being called a "must-have for students of the modern-day Muslim delusion."

The comment was among a long list of praises at Amazon, where the book has surged to No. 2 among world history books on Islam, No. 8 among books on terrorism and No. 14 among those dealing with the issue of church and state.

The review comes from Doug Grills, who called the report of how the Muslim group, cited as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terror funding trial, works an "outstanding read."

"Supporting documentation in book substantiates claims in stunning fashion," he wrote.

"After this book, there is absolutely no excuse for any politician, law enforcement officer, or any government employee to allow anyone from CAIR or any of the myriad Muslim Brother organizations in this country even the time of day," added Henry Kadoch.

"If you've had that nagging feeling that something is not quite right with all of these Muslim organizations and the constant indictments of their leaders, their contradictory statements, and their support of terrorist organizations, but still feel it's all somehow OK, read this book. You'll see what they are really about; and it's not pretty," he said.

A third reviewer, identified as IOB, said, "I can see how some Muslims do not want this information out."

And yet another added, "A must-share with family, friends and colleagues. If you want the truth on what is planned for you and what America can become if we fail to heed what the authors succeeded in uncovering, [then] read this perfect companion to the book 'Infiltration.'"

WND reported just days ago on the endorsement of the book by retired Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin, former U.S. deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence.

Boykin, who has played a role in almost every recent major American military operation - serving in Grenada, Somalia and Iraq - spoke at a prophecy conference in California sponsored by evangelical leader Greg Laurie.

"There's a recent book that came out called 'Muslim Mafia,'" said Boykin, currently a professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia and author of "Never Surrender: A Soldier's Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom." "Have any of you read this? Have any of you ever seen it? I encourage you to get this book - 'Muslim Mafia.' ... This book will scare you. This book will open your eyes. This book will shake you. What this book says is frightening,"

The video:

Boykin went on to tell his audience of thousands at the Harvest Christian Fellowship about some of the revelations in the book by P. David Gaubatz and Paul Sperry:

  • New evidence that CAIR was launched to support the Hamas terrorist group and has transferred tens of thousands of dollars to a group recently convicted as Hamas' top fundraising arm in the U.S. - money that ended up aiding terrorist attacks on Israelis and Americans;
  • Internal documents showing CAIR, despite claims of cooperating with law enforcement, actively works behind the scenes to mislead and deceive the FBI on behalf of terrorism suspects - and has even cultivated Muslim moles inside law enforcement who have tipped off FBI terror targets;
  • CAIR is more closely tied to al-Qaida than previously reported;
  • CAIR claims to represent all Muslim Americans; however, it has victimized some 100 indigent Muslims in a massive fraud and threatened them when they tried to go to the media; and internally, personnel complaints reveal CAIR discriminates against Shiite Muslims and Muslim women within its own headquarters;
  • CAIR and its sister fronts are funded by foreign Muslim Brotherhood sources;
  • CAIR leaders share the Muslim Brotherhood's ultimate goal to replace the U.S. Constitution with Islamic law;
  • The Muslim Brotherhood investment in corporate America will be used to pressure U.S. companies into compliance with Islamic principles.

"That's a testimonial I treasure," said Joseph Farah, chief executive officer of WND and WND Books, the publisher of "Muslim Mafia." "I've been promoting this groundbreaking investigation for a year, and for a year what I call the "Media Mafia" has been covering up the shocking revelations. I appreciate the courage General Boykin demonstrated by speaking out."

On Amazon, Tjlondon called "Muslim Mafia" a "very scary read indeed."

"What is even scarier for someone like me who lives in Britain and has seen all this happen over here is that I now know the USA is NOT the last bulwark against Islamic extremism I hoped it was," he wrote.

Farah said, "After you've had a chance to watch General Boykin's remarks and read 'Muslim Mafia,'please consider making a financial donation to WND's legal defense fund so that we can continue our ongoing defense against the Council on American-Islamic Relations lawsuit against our author and his heroic son who infiltrated CAIR. We have already spent more than $200,000 in defending their groundbreaking investigation - one that should have been conducted by the U.S. government. All those contributing $25 or more will get a free copy of 'Muslim Mafia.'"

The Israelis do not seem to understand what apartheid is. Perhaps, Richard Goldstone, an enabler of South African Apartheid, could explain it.  As anyone who has, actually, been to Israel, Israelis and  Israeli  Muslim Arabs have jobs in  Israeli Jewish businesses and Israeli Muslim Arabs  work side by side with Israeli Jews. And Israeli Jews live side by side. See for yourself. And note the words of Moderate Murderer Mahmoud Abbas.

CAIR chief's designs to 'run' U.S. revealed

'Who better than Muslims,' Awad asks, to lead 'Christian-Judeo-Islamic' nation?

CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad

The same national Muslim leader who's launched an "education campaign" to quell American fears over Shariah law once gave a full-throated speech to Muslims advocating an Islamic rise to power in America.

In a newly surfaced video of a 2000 speech to the Islamic Society of North America, Council on American-Islamic Relations Executive Director Nihad Awad told his Muslim audience: "Muslims in America are in the best position to show Islam and to show action and to show vision - not only for a Muslim school, how it should be run, but for an entire society, how it should be run. Who better can lead America than Muslims?"

See what Syria to get for blasting protesters

The White House quietly has been urging Israel and Syria immediately to renew negotiations aimed at an Israeli retreat from the strategic Golan Heights, WND has learned.

According to informed Middle Eastern security officials, the Obama administration believes an accord with Israel will strengthen the position of Syrian President Bashar Assad, whose regime is threatened by unrest similar to the protests that toppled the leadership of fallen Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Radical Islam, Not Pastor, Is The Problem

The Florida pastor of a tiny church who burned a Koran on March 20th is making headlines again. You may recall that Terry Jones dominated the news for a brief period last year after threatening to burn Islam's holy book. Ultimately, he backed down. But last month he followed through with his threat. Last week riots erupted in Afghanistan, leaving 20 people dead, some decapitated and scores injured.

For those of us battling radical Islam, Jones is an impediment to our work, not an aid. Americans do not like book burnings, whatever the book is. As I suggested last year, Jones should have read passages from the Koran out loud. That would at least be educational, helping to explain why the jihadists decapitate babies and blow up busses in the name of Allah.

Having said that, we must not surrender to liberal political correctness. Jones is not responsible for the riots and deaths in Afghanistan. His actions merely provided an excuse for the Islamic radicals to go on yet another rampage of death and destruction. There is no moral equivalence whatsoever between the two acts. Jones is stupid; the Islamists are evil.

I understand why General David Petraeus would condemn the burning of the Koran. He has a war to fight and his soldiers are on the front line facing the jihadists, who are eager to kill the infidel. But President Obama and other politicians so ready to bow to Islamic demands are betraying America's traditions.

On CBS' "Face The Nation" Sunday, Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid suggested that Congress would "look into" the Koran burning. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) added, "I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but we're in a war. During World War II, we had limits on what you could say if it would inspire the enemy." I think the senator is confused. No one during World War II was worried about insulting the feelings of the Germans or Japanese. Any World War II movie would demonstrate that fact.

In this country we let people burn the American flag. We allow extremists to demonstrate at the funerals of our fallen heroes. We permit these offensive things because all speech is protected in America. Reid and Graham are suggesting that things dear to the Islamists should somehow receive a special exemption. They are essentially embracing one of the essential demands of Sharia law -- no insults of Islam.

I'd like to remind Senators Reid and Graham of a few facts: In the past month, a Jewish family in Samaria was slaughtered in their sleep by Palestinian Muslims. Coptic Christians in Egypt have been murdered and their churches torched. The only Christian serving in the Pakistani cabinet was assassinated. Ethiopian Christians have been driven out of their villages. I don't recall Senators Reid or Graham rushing to a microphone to denounce these deadly attacks on Christians and Jews.

But I do recall not many years ago when a cross, one of the most cherished Christian symbols, was submerged in a vat of urine. There were no riots or beheadings. In fact, liberals told us that not only should we not condemn it, but we should celebrate and subsidize it as "art." If Jones were smarter, he might have requested a subsidy from the National Endowment for the Arts! Then Harry Reid, patron of cowboy poetry, would be rushing to his defense.

If congressional liberals try to condemn Jones' burning of the Koran, I hope a Republican member of Congress will demand an amendment condemning the many acts of violence committed by Muslim extremists.

Our Clueless Elites

Sometimes I marvel at the ignorance of our liberal elites. Consider this example of Big Media attempting to make excuses for the Islamic extremists in Afghanistan. This will take your breath away.

On MSNBC's "Hardball" Friday, Chuck Todd, sitting in for Chris Matthews, had Time's Bobby Ghosh explain it all for us. Ghosh, the deputy international editor for Time, broke the story about the Marine massacre of Iraqi civilians in Haditha. Of course, the Marines were all exonerated, but why should that affect Mr. Ghosh's credibility? Here is Mr. Ghosh's explanation of what happened in Afghanistan:

"The thing to keep in mind that's very important here is that the Koran to Muslims, it is not -- it is not the same as the Bible to Christians. The Bible is a book written by men. It is acknowledged by Christians that it is written by men. It's the story of Jesus."

So, the Bible is just a biography of a man, nothing more. But wait...there's more. Ghosh continued:

"But the Koran, if you are a believer, if you're a Muslim, the Koran is directly the word of God, not written by man. It is transcribed, is directly the word of God. That makes it sacred in a way that it's hard to understand if you're not Muslim. So the act of burning a Koran is much more -- potentially much, much more inflammatory than -- than if you were to burn a Bible."

I don't know where Mr. Ghosh got his understanding of Christianity, but the Bible is no less the inspired word of God to believing Christians than the Koran is to believing Muslims. But here's the difference: Christians believe that God's greatest gift was life, whereas Muslim extremists believe they are commanded by Allah to take life. They will use any excuse to kill innocent people who had nothing to do with a Koran burned in Florida!

GITMO Detainee Leads Libyan Rebels

This weekend the Wall Street Journal presented more evidence of Al Qaeda's link to the Libyan rebels. According to the Journal's report, yet another rebel leader is known to have worked with Al Qaeda. In fact, he spent six years at the terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba!

Sufyan Ben Qumu, a Libyan Army veteran, is training rebel recruits in the city of Darna. Years ago, Ben Qumu worked for Osama bin Laden's holding company in Sudan and for an "Al Qaeda-linked charity in Afghanistan." He was arrested in Pakistan in 2001 and sent back to Libya in 2007. Ironically, President Obama has committed U.S. airpower to Ben Qumu's latest cause -- the overthrow of Col. Qadhafi.

Last week, the president of Chad, on Libya's southern border, warned that Al Qaeda was taking advantage of the chaos in Libya to seize weapons. Reuters reports today that security officials in Algeria, to Libya's west, are expressing the same concern. Meanwhile, officials here continue to debate whether we will send weapons to the rebels -- weapons which could well end up in the hands of Al Qaeda terrorists.

As facts like these continue to emerge, it's not surprising that the American people are growing increasingly uncomfortable with Obama's "kinetic military action" in Libya. A new poll by The Hill finds that just 25% of likely voters believe the Libyan operation is worth the cost. When asked whether the U.S. should arm the Libyan rebels, even fewer (19%) think that is a good idea.

But don't worry -- Big Media wants you to know that Obama prayed first before going to war in Libya. George W. Bush was mocked for his faith, but during a recent interview, Obama was invited to talk about the role his faith played in taking us to war. That double standard is the subject of my Human Events column this week, which you can read here.

Goldstone Says "Sorry"

Back in 2009, the United Nations released a report condemning Israel for war crimes in Gaza. In the time since the report, authored by South African jurist Richard Goldstone, it has been used as a bludgeon against Israel and to smear U.S. support for Israel. It has been used on college campuses to generate sympathy for Hamas and Palestinian extremists at the expense of the Jewish state.

This weekend Goldstone said "whoops." Writing in the Washington Post, Goldstone stated, "We know a lot more today about what happened in the Gaza war of 2008-09 than we did when I chaired the fact-finding mission appointed by the U.N. Human Rights Council that produced what has come to be known as the Goldstone Report. If I had known then what I know now, the Goldstone Report would have been a different document." Goldstone now admits that Israel did not intentionally attack civilians.

The original report did so much damage to Israel because so many elites were so willing to believe anything bad about Israel. They gleefully amplified its mistaken conclusions portraying Israel as the villain and the Palestinians as the victims. I predict Goldstone's retraction won't get a tenth of the coverage his 2009 report garnered. And where does Israel go to undo the damage?

GOP On The Right Track; Obama Declares For 2012

I know there is a lot of grousing on the right about the status of budget negotiations in Congress. But let me add some encouraging comments to this debate.

On "Face The Nation" yesterday, Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid said that he and Speaker John Boehner had agreed to $73 billion in spending cuts. While Boehner denies any agreement with Reid, and that figure is highly questionable, congressional Republicans, with control of just the House, have changed the terms of the debate in Washington. Harry Reid is now talking about spending cuts.

Sure, you can quibble about the size of the cuts, but thankfully we're no longer talking about new, big Obama stimulus programs. We're not talking about increasing spending on Planned Parenthood; the debate is about defunding Planned Parenthood. And this week, Rep. Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, is expected to release a budget that cuts spending by $4 trillion over the next decade. This change in focus is a miracle for Washington!

I know Boehner has his critics on the right, but I hope everyone is working hard to achieve the most important goal. Is that cutting $100 billion out of the 2011 budget? Is it cutting $4 trillion from next year's budget? Or is it defeating Barack Obama in November 2012? As important as those first two items are, I would argue that without retaking the Senate and the White House, our budget cuts won't matter because they would be repealed by a Democrat Congress and a reelected Obama.

And speaking of Barack Obama, he released a web video announcing his reelection campaign this morning. The video continued the theme of community organizing, but it has been widely panned as uninspiring. Even one liberal pundit observed, "It's nothing more than a tacit acknowledgment that the magic of '08 is gone; even the true Obama believers need to be energized."

That may be true, but we cannot afford to underestimate the advantages an incumbent president has. The stakes are too great and America simply cannot afford four more years of Obama's socialism.

Oklahoma City Bombing -- the return of "the third terrorist"
But will he get away again?
By Wes Vernon

So it's really no big deal when a guy is arrested for slugging another guy with a beer bottle, right? In this case, wrong! Police in Quincy, Massachusetts (a part of the Boston metro area), earlier this month jailed a beer bottle brawler who turns out to be a credibly accused terrorist - on the lam for the last eight years. This revives the case of what arguably is the biggest cover-up in our nation's history.

Exclusive: Will Congress (at last, officially) solve the mystery of 'the third terrorist' in Oklahoma City?
By Wes Vernon

The chairman of the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations may soon hold new hearings on the credible allegations that a third man - this one from the Middle East - collaborated with Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

In a phone interview with this writer, Committee Chairman Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) said that two weeks ago he met with Hussain Al-Hussaini - an Iraqi native alleged to have had a significant role in the bombing. The meeting took place at the site of a corrections facility in Dedham, Massachusetts, where Mr. Al-Hussaini has been held by authorities on charges stemming from a beer bottle brawl.

The man dubbed "The Third Terrorist" (see our report March 24, 2011) has been in jail awaiting a court appearance scheduled for Monday. He was arrested earlier this month on charges of assaulting a man at a homeless shelter in Quincy, Mass.

Today you are going to hear a lot about Paul Ryan and his budget deal. He has an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal previewing it. You can read that here.

The budget proposal is a solid proposal of solid reform. I like what I see. But I also foresee real problems with it as a result.

Let me first say the number you are going to hear batted about today is that Paul Ryan's budget cuts $6.2 trillion. Please keep in mind that following that number is this language: "from the president's budget over the next 10 years." That is different from actually cutting $6.2 trillion. These are cuts placed in juxtaposition to the President's proposed cuts. We will find out later today what the real cuts are.

Before continuing, let me also say that I am annoyed with a lot of conservatives today. Over the past 24 hours, many conservatives have raced to the nearest TV show, blog, and opinion page to praise Paul Ryan as if he is some sort of savior. There are calls for Ryan to run for President. One pundit called his budget plan "the most important domestic proposal of our lifetimes" and "the first concerted, credible effort to shrink the federal government since the birth of the welfare state seven decades ago."

Hyperbole much?

I get tired of the left investing in the cult of personality with Barack Obama, but sadly the right is not immune. Many conservatives desperate for the second coming of Reagan and Jesus have poured out their hopes, dreams, and ambitions into Paul Ryan as if he is some sort of empty vessel to be filled with the desires of conservatives.

Paul Ryan is a very decent guy, but he is just a man. He supported No Child Left Behind, the medicare prescription drug benefit, TARP, the auto bailout, the arguably unconstitutional AIG bonus tax, and capping CEO pay among other things. He is not infallible. Please, conservatives, try not to sound too enraptured.

Paul Ryan is, bar none, the best and most articulate Republican when it comes to talking budget, numbers, and reform. But that does not equate with infallibility and being a strategic mastermind.

That said, Paul Ryan's "Path to Prosperity" is really good. Again though, that it is a good plan is also its significant downfall. Let me tell you why.

2. Time Magazine's Bobby Ghosh Is Ignorant About Christianity

I have no idea what religion Bobby Ghosh is. He is from India, so my assumption is, if anything, Hindu, but I have no idea really. It doesn't matter other than some may be quick, because of his last name, to assume he is a muslim. He is not.

One thing we can be absolutely sure of is he is totally and completely ignorant about Christians.

3. Irreligion And Irrationality. Don't Believe The Hate.

When intellectually-oriented atheists or agnostics choose to opine on religious matters, they sometimes tend to subject their own predictably negative views of religious practice into the discussion. This is particularly true when they deign to inform us how rigorously logical they are. Examining two attempts to cast pearls of agnostic or atheist logic before the deeply religious swine demonstrate the predictable vapidity of the hostile irreligious.

4. If You Think Unfunded Pensions Are A Problem, You Don't Know The Half of It...

This nation is in trouble. Unfortunately, rather than recognize that they are a large part of the problem, today's union bosses would rather obfuscate and attack those trying to reform the government-union system. Today, unions and their allies are engaging in rallies throughout the country decrying the so-called union-busting (or, more likely, the loss of their union dues). Meanwhile, America's financial future continues careening toward a cliff, with union bosses and their political puppets refusing to turn the wheel.

After more than a month of protesting efforts to reform the government-union system, as well as threatening lawmakers and bullying businesses, union bosses are using the anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King to stage nationwide demonstrations of "solidarity" with government unions. The problem is ignoring the problem. Despite the protests, despite the rancor, there is no more time and, more importantly, there is no more money. The piggy bank is empty.

5. This ad about Wisconsin Democrat Joanne Kloppenburg scares the Left.

I'm repeating myself, but the Left keeps trying to push back on this ad highlighting Wisconsin Democrat (and candidate for Supreme Court Justice) Joanne Kloppenburg's utter lack of compassion for abuse survivors so pass it along. Make sure that the Wisconsin voter in your life watches it. The vote is TODAY; the incumbent Wisconsin voters should re-elect is David Prosser.

Published April 4, 2011 as  Guest Author article titled by the Courier as "Three Rs sacrificed for social education"

School Vouchers and Senate Bill SB1 Explained

First, I would like to define "Failing Schools";  the term should be "Failing Students". There are two main components contributing to scholastic failure: The first is the quality of the educational institution itself and the second of equal importance is the student's parental guidance including moral and social values. Here lies a major problem: when schools are expected to fill in for the latter.   This is a losing task and the consequence is that scholastic achievement is sacrificed for social education and in some instances applying political bias or revising history to support a point of view.  Some of these taught values are contrary to the values of conscientious parents.

A true Universal Voucher System will well address both scholastic and social value issues for conscientious parents through a true Free Market competition system, it cannot address the second issue of parental or moral abandonment.   SB1(current  PA Senate Bill 1), as well intended as it is, will destroy the  opportunity to establish a real Voucher system. It is a complex law establishing more bureaucracy, employing Excess Scholarship Fund programs, requirements for nonresident transfers ,etc. and applies only to low income students in Urban areas. Keep it simple. In my opinion it will lead to a host of ethnic and racial discrimination based lawsuits, recreate the school busing nightmare of  40 years ago, while degrading scholastic achievement of schools with higher performing scholastic scores. Consequently, It will  give fuel to those opposing a Voucher system expansion and an excuse for lawmakers not to pursue a real School Voucher

Simply, what we need is a Bill that addresses:

·         Allow state Voucher per student that can be transferred to a NON-PUBLIC School, or a home school credit, the only requirement is that the School maintains the requirement currently applied to Parochial, Private and Home schools and No more. They must achieve State wide scholastic achievement requirements.

·         All children in the Commonwealth deserve an opportunity. Vouchers should be made available, without prejudice to  race, ethnicity, financial status or  neighborhood

·         Vouchers should only be limited for non-public school (Sectarian or Not), no transfers from one public school to another. That is the only way to apply a Free Market concept.

I can foresee private and non-sectarian  non-public schools being established with a comfortable profit margin and at less cost to taxpayers. In fact, there is the distinct possibility that non-public specialty school programs can be established dealing specifically with problematic or special need children.

Parent: You choose. If you are satisfied with your child's scholastic and social issue education, then keep them in his or hers' current school; if not then let's give them an affordable alternative.

Taxpayer: Pennsylvania spends $26 billion per year on education -more per student than 39 other states-, an amount which has doubled since 1996. Despite a drop of 27,000 students over the last 10 years, while PA ranks 42nd in SAT score( Chris Friend, Philly Post 3/1/11).

There is a preponderance of evidence that a true Universal Voucher system will lower cost and improve achievement. Now is the time to enact  a progressive Universal School  Voucher system in PA. The political climate is right, the financial concerns are real and we must provide our future generations the necessary educational skills to compete in a global market.

Bottom line : If you are a social liberal-progressive and a union member vote against any school voucher. If you are a social liberal-progressive and not a union member and are mainly interested in entitlement programs for the poor, vote for SBI. If you are a conservative and are interested in improving the educational system for all students while reducing taxes, then support A Universal School Voucher.

Lawmakers:
Budget deal

this week ALT

Republican and Democratic lawmakers on Sunday predicted Congress would agree on a short-term deal this week that would avoid a federal shutdown on Friday.

"I think we can do this," Sen. Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, said on CBS' "Face the Nation" of the proposed continuing resolution to fund the government.

"I think we'll find consensus. There are enough Democrats out there who want to be on the right side of this," Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, said on "Face the Nation."

Sen. Marco Rubio vowed he will not support an upcoming vote on raising the debt ceiling without concessions from Democrats. Republican, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, echoed the hard-line stand on the debt ceiling. [Washington Times, April 3]

According to a new survey from Rasmussen Reports, 57 percent of likely US voters said making deeper spending cuts in the federal budget is a higher priority than preventing a partial government shtudown. Thirty-one percent said they disagreed, with another 12 percent saying they were not sure.
That is little changed from the last time Rasmussen polled on the issue, as 58 percent of voters favored a shutdown if meant bigger cuts in February.
Forty-four percent of voters think a shutdown would be bad for the economy, while 23 percent think it would actually be good for it. Democrats are more than twice as likely to think a shutdown would be bad for the economy than Republicans or unaffiliated voters. [The Hill, April 2]

Update on AOL and The Patriot Post

On Friday, we published an announcement that AOL was seeking to purchase The Patriot Post for $425 million. The outcry from our loyal readers was so great, however, that we have decided to decline the offer.

OK, it was actually April Fool's Day, and based on the reader comments, a few of our loyal readers took the bait. All in good fun and thanks for playing along, but you know we would never sell out!

On a serious note, however, The Patriot Post's very successful advocacy of Essential Liberty is sustained solely by your generous support of our hard-working staff. Freedom isn't free, and neither is publishing.

If you have recovered from the AOL prank, please take a moment and support our Patriots' Day Campaign with a contribution of any size today!

Reader Comments

Editor's Note: A sample of the six hundred April Fool's Day responses, and a special thanks to those who already upped their contribution level.

"Good one! First I was stunned; next I was disappointed; then I was THAT close to getting really steamed. Finally a little light came on. Whew!"

"Uh, actually, I know Mark Alexander and his devotion to our Republic and Essential Liberty can't be bought away at any price! Anyone who falls for this one has not been reading The Patriot for long."

"April Fool's Day indeed! Don't do that to me! Spilled my coffee, yelled at my wife, swore at my cat, before my ancient brain began to work and realized what day it was."

"You Rats! I hope I am not this gullible all day."

"Don't mess with me like that! April Fool's or not don't do that! Now if you said The Patriot Post was purchasing AOL, GOOGLE, HUFFPO, MEDIA MATTERS, noooowwwww that would be FUNNY!"

"You were robbed! The Patriot Post is easily worth ten times what HuffPost is worth!"

"I wish it were so. Then you would have real money to use to continue, and expand, this great quest."

"Now that my heart has returned from the place to which it had sunk, I can say 'twas an amusing thought for this day of jest. Hopefully prophetic, though, in the sense that this publication very well ought be an online juggernaut. I will re-busy myself with its promotion to those beyond the choir."

"I was born at night -- but not last night! Thanks for the chuckle. As with the best AFD jokes, this had an element of plausibility. Fox has both conservative and liberal commentators and AOL might have been wise enough to offer to you. But you gave yourself away with 'traffic dropping like a polished stone' -- too much truth to come out in a press release!"

"BRAVO ZULU! Outstanding! The tip off was that the Huffington Post was a giant! Well done!"

"Well ... after the rant I just went on to my fellow co-workers about what a load of crap this is ... I went to the post a comment page to tear you a new one ... great AFD joke!!! Keep up the great work you do. Semper Fi!"

"Hook in mouth -- good one. Keep up the great work Patriot Post staff!"

"Haha -- Armstrong would never admit to a drop in traffic and Alexander cannot be bought!"

"I thought this was hilarious ... at the same time I am so very proud to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Mark Alexander cannot be bought at ANY price. It also makes me chuckle at the thought, however fanciful, that lefties would be willing to pay such a high price to silence this advocate of conservative and constitutional thought, given the long reach and influence of The Patriot Post."

"I recall a really deep plunge that had me really wanting some air, without saltwater in it. Man, you ought to have some consideration for us older fellows! Mark, I bit, hook and all. You are fully aware, I am certain, of the sense of relief when I discovered the foil! Well done! A real classic, should go into the annals of all time April Fool's Day jokes. Semper Fi. Thanks."

"Frankly, I am concerned that people actually fell for that. Discernment is a precious commodity. But on the other hand, it is also a mark of how people trust you to tell the truth. So that's a good thing. Carry on..."

Government

"If you buy into the energy speech President Obama delivered on Wednesday, it sure sounds like we're headed for drill, drill, drill. ... In the fact sheet that accompanied the speech, there's a lot of talk about 'responsible development' for natural gas fracking chemicals, state regulators, tapping experts, the environmental community, and protecting public health and the environment. In other words, the standards for new drilling could be so high that there won't be that much new drilling. ... While the president says we're going to reduce oil imports by one-third in 2025 -- something that sounds suspiciously like a backdoor cap that will damage job creation and growth -- the U.S. is expected to be a natural-gas exporter in the next few years. That's how much of it we have. ... [M]arket forces create significant incentives for oil, gas, coal, and nuclear producers to be as safe and environmentally sound as human engineering can make possible. They don't want BP-level calamities. Nor do they want repeats of the Japanese disaster. But here's what America wants: Less government and fewer regulatory barriers in order to unleash the great American energy industry." --columnist Lawrence Kudlow

Opinion in Brief

"Obama ignored the murder, imprisonment and torture of peaceful Iranian protesters demonstrating against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's theft of an election in 2009. But he was hopping mad about Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak getting rough with a mob in Tahrir Square with less distinct objectives. We knew what the Iranian students wanted: a stolen election overturned. What did the Egyptians want? At the time, liberals angrily cited the high unemployment rate in Egypt as proof that Mubarak was a beast who must step down. Have they, by any chance, seen the recent employment numbers for the U.S.? The only employment sectors showing any growth are Hollywood sober-living coaches and medical marijuana dispensaries. Are we one jobs report away from liberals rioting in the streets? ... However far off the mark [Moammar] Gadhafi is from being the Libyan George Washington, he poses no threat to the U.S. -- whereas the rebels we are supporting might. But Democrats couldn't care less about the interests of their own country. Indeed, if there were the slightest possibility that our intervention in Libya would somehow benefit the United States, they would hysterically oppose it." --columnist Ann Coulter

Liberty

"Islamist extremism and oppression of women go hand in hand. And while the correlation between poverty and terrorism is often overstated, the correlation between prosperity and women's liberation is profound. Female education is tightly linked with GDP growth, lower birthrates and even higher agricultural yields. It's also tightly linked with human freedom and decency, which is why no Islamic 'spring' is possible without a feminist revolution. Countless Islamist countries practice gender apartheid and countenance wife-beating, honor killings and female genital mutilation. ... But there are signs of hope as well. In a widely circulating video, Veena Malik, a Pakistani model and actress, tears apart a smug Islamist mullah berating her for being 'un-Islamic.' Not only does she stand up for a modern humane Islam that can tolerate women and 'fun,' she tells the cleric, 'I am more angry with you people than you are with me.' Malik offers heroic moral clarity that should cheer anyone who has lamented the lack of moderate Muslims willing to condemn the extremists. And she offers a reminder for us all that the real war for women's equality is now a battle to be fought in foreign lands." --columnist Jonah Goldberg

 The Gipper

"The Founding Fathers established a system which meant a radical break from that which preceded it. A written constitution would provide a permanent form of government, limited in scope, but effective in providing both liberty and order. Government was not to be a matter of self-appointed rulers, governing by whim or harsh ideology. It was not to be government by the strongest or for the few. Our principles were revolutionary. We began as a small, weak republic. But we survived. Our example inspired others, imperfectly at times, but it inspired them nevertheless. This constitutional republic, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal, prospered and grew strong. To this day, America is still the abiding alternative to tyranny. That is our purpose in the world -- nothing more and nothing less." --Ronald Reagan

Insight

"I can say -- not as a patriotic bromide, but with full knowledge of the necessary metaphysical, epistemological, ethical, political and esthetic roots -- that the United States of America is the greatest, the noblest and, in its original founding principles, the only moral country in the history of the world." --author and philosopher Ayn Rand (1905-1982)

Re: The Left

"An unusual rally was held over the [last] weekend in Wisconsin, in which the AFL-CIO acted to protect government subsidies for Planned Parenthood. ... Democrats must obey the union bosses, and win elections against Republicans, in order to deliver value to the unions. Planned Parenthood helps Democrats win elections, and a show of strength alongside union forces encourages Democrat politicians to obey their instructions. Do you suppose it's easy to persuade elected politicians to humiliate themselves by fleeing the state and hiding in motel rooms? ... Unions are the primary conduit for converting taxpayer money into Democrat campaign cash. Big Abortion is a smaller, but not insignificant, pipeline. Both organizations harvest political power from people who support them for idealistic reasons, and neatly package that power for delivery to their chosen political party. That is one reason why union troops are willing to stuff members who don't necessarily support the Planned Parenthood agenda into pink T-shirts, and lead them in chants to defend compulsory taxpayer funding for Big Abortion's biggest and most lucrative operation." --columnist John Hayward

Faith & Family

"A new film, not about hedge fund managers, but about online predators who scour the Internet preying on children, will help many parents (and teens if they'll listen) become more aware of the threat they face. ... Directed by David Schwimmer, 'Trust' is the story of 14-year-old 'Annie,' who makes friends with a 'boy' named 'Charlie.' Charlie, supposedly 16, texts Annie and begins his seduction by addressing the insecurities many teenage girls feel about their looks and lack of self-esteem. After weeks of email and chat room exchanges, Charlie's magnetism draws Annie into a face-to-face meeting. At first she is sickened that he is much older than he said, but by now she is hooked by his flattery and even though she knows he is a liar, she wants to believe his lies. They have sex in a cheap hotel room. ... In an age where every cell phone is a computer with Internet access, there are no 'parental controls' that can fully protect our children and grandchildren from sexual predators. In this cyber age, the old parental warnings not to take candy from strangers or get into a stranger's car have limited effect, especially when pedophiles can slither directly into your child's bedroom via Internet connection. ... It is a powerful and necessary lesson for parents and children." --columnist Cal Thomas

Culture

"The latest published data from the 2010 census show how people are moving from place to place within the United States. In general, people are voting with their feet against places where the liberal, welfare-state policies favored by the intelligentsia are most deeply entrenched. ... The movement of the black population -- especially educated young blacks -- is the most striking of all. ... In short, with blacks, as with other racial or ethnic groups, those with better prospects are leaving the states that are repelling their most productive citizens in general with liberal policies. ... Treating businesses and affluent people as prey, rather than assets, often pays off politically in the short run -- and elections are held in the short run. Killing the goose that lays the golden egg is a viable political strategy. As whites were the first to start leaving Detroit, its then mayor Coleman Young saw this only as an exodus of people who were likely to vote against him, enhancing his re-election prospects. But what was good for Mayor Young was disastrous for Detroit. There is a lesson here somewhere, but it is very doubtful if either the intelligentsia or the politicians will learn it." --economist Thomas Sowell

The Last Word

"Say what you like about Barack Obama, but it's rare to find a leader so impeccably multilateralist that he's willing to participate in both sides of a war. It doesn't exactly do much for holding it under budget, but it does ensure that for once we've got a sporting chance of coming out on the winning side. If a coalition plane bombing Gadhafi's forces runs into a coalition plane bombing the rebel forces, are they allowed to open fire on each other? Or would that exceed the U.N. resolution? Who are these rebels we're simultaneously arming and bombing? Don't worry, the CIA is 'gathering intelligence' on them. They should have a clear idea of who our allies are round about the time Mohammed bin Jihad is firing his Kalashnikov and shouting 'Death to the Great Satan!' from the balcony of the presidential palace. But America's commander-in-chief thinks they're pretty sound chaps. 'The people that we've met with have been fully vetted,' says President Obama. 'So we have a clear sense of who they are. And so far they're saying the right things. And most of them are professionals, lawyers, doctors â€" people who appear to be credible.' Credible people with credentials -- just like the president! ... In the old days, simpletons like President George W. Bush used to say, 'You're either with us or you're with the terrorists.' This time round, we're with us and we're with the terrorists, and you can't say fairer than that." --columnist Mark Steyn

Illinois Democrats sneak attack on religion: no photo ID for voting but photo ID for buying guns

Apr 04, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins

  By Kevin "Coach" Collins

The double talking liberal Democrats in Illinois have voted down a Republican measure to demand photo ID be produced by those attempting to vote. The arguments they made were the same shopworn nonsense they always use: "Such a law will discourage voting" "It disadvantage minority groups" and so on.

In spite of the ever increasing movement toward photo identification everywhere we look, these people are able to kill photo ID bills. They have the votes in the Illinois Legislature and fear their fraudulent voters will not be able to keep supporting them if the system all of a sudden became honest overnight.

Gun Control is their religion

The same liberal Democrats who fight to keep voters from having to produce photo ID, have now passed a new law that will DEMAND photo ID for those who want to exercise their Second Amendment rights and buy a gun.

For most of the comrades living in a socialist gulag ... Continue Reading:Illinois Democrats sneak attack on religion: no photo ID for voting but photo ID for buying guns

Dumping aliens

About the writer

For nations that exploit U.S. immigration laws to their advantage, America has become a convenient dumping ground for all sorts of undesirables. It's time this country takes out the trash.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials tell the Trib that almost 2,000 arrested illegal aliens, among them convicted criminals, have been released since 2008 because their own countries wouldn't take them back.

What better way for these nations -- among them, Cuba, Cambodia and Laos -- to dump their "problems" than in a country that doesn't police its own immigration law?

Immigration Subcommittee Divided Over Direction of H-1B Visas

The House Immigration Policy and Enforcement Subcommittee held a hearing Thursday to discuss possible reforms to the H-1B visa program. While businesses claim they use H-1B visas to sponsor "high-skilled" workers, H-1B visa recipients are typically only required to have either a Bachelor's degree or specialized knowledge in a particular field. H-1B visas are also used to bring fashion models into the country.

USCIS Temporarily Delays Decisions Involving Same-Sex Couples

Last Monday, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it was delaying decisions on cases involving same-sex couples. This announcement, USCIS officials said, came as a result of the Obama Administration's decision to stop enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which prohibits the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages. Chris Bentley, Press Secretary for the USCIS said in a statement: "USCIS has issued guidance to the field asking that related cases be held in abeyance while awaiting final guidance related to distinct legal issues."  However, two days later USCIS back-peddled with the announcement that USCIS had received the necessary guidance and that same-sex marriage cases were no longer to be held in abeyance. "The guidance we were awaiting ... was received last night, so the hold is over, so we're back to adjudicating cases as we always have," Mr. Bentley stated.

Shhh: HHS grants more Obamacare waivers, considers new 2012-2013 scheme

By Michelle Malkin  ·  April 4, 2011 10:01 AM

Back in September and October, when I first started hammering the Obamacare waiver issue, I commented:

Old promise: Everyone gets to keep their health insurance.

New promise: You can keep your health insurance...if you BEG hard enough for an Obamacare waiver.

Will only high-powered, politically connected corporations and Big Labor groups be spared? Where's the transparency in how these decisions are being made?

To the first question, all signs have pointed to yes in the ensuing seven months.

Big Government Vs. the Internet

Following his party's devastating losses last November, President Barack Obama made clear that where his party could no longer legislate, it will regulate. Just a month later, America saw his words become action when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to issue new rules regulating the Internet, even though courts and Congress have stood in opposition to its actions. Tomorrow, the House of Representatives is poised to voice its opposition to the FCC's unmitigated power grab and will vote on a resolution to block the FCC's rules, sending a powerful message that enough regulation is enough, and the FCC should keep its hands off the Internet.

Pakistan Stoked Anger About Qur'an-Burning Incident
(CNSNews.com) - The news that a small Florida church burned a copy of the Qur'an on March 20 went virtually unreported in most of the world - with Pakistan the chief exception - until the eruption of violence in Afghanistan on Friday. Dozens of reports on the Qur'an burning appeared in Pakistani media outlets on March 22-23, but the story received negligible coverage elsewhere in the Islamic world.

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. COMMENTARY:

Symmetry

By Rich Galen
The notion that a guy with a 30-person congregation can hold himself up as a judge of whether Islam is a legitimate religion would be laughable, except we don't laugh about those things any more. Both President Barack Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the actions of Terry Jones, but Karzai's comments were used as a match to light the fires of an insane overreaction. Karzai issued a statement "calling on the US Congress to condemn a Christian preacher's burning of the Koran." Well, fair's fair. Why doesn't Karzai issues a statement condemning the murder of innocent people across his country?

Michelle Bachman Mitt Romney and Ethanol Subsidies - Farm Subsidie

ETHANOL SUBSIDIES AND FARM SUBSIDIES ARE KEY ISSUES for ANY FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE

The candidates seem to be equivocating

Mitt Romney and Michelle Bachman Have to Be Committed Not Only to Ending ETHANOL SUBSIDIES (Daily Caller Timothy Carney 4/1/2011 ) .

But ALSO  FARM SUBSIDIES  as Well . The Left leaning Environmental Working Group Database Calculates Farm Subsidies of $246.7 Billion in Subsidies 1995-2009.

Note graph below from EWG, Republican members of Congress received $5,334, 565 and we expect these people to cut spending?  And I, happily note, that EWB sees what many of see Corn Ethanol Subsidies Are a Losing Proposition. The Circle Closes and we, the people, of the Left and Right reach common ground. Inform your elected representative,  who knows, he or she may be interested in what we think.

Federal Farm Subsidies paid to member of the 112th congress

From ExxonMobile Perspectives:

"U.S. policy interventions, such as the continued taxpayer support of ethanol, come at a high direct cost. U.S. EIA data showed that while natural gas and petroleum received only $0.03 (yes, 3 cents) per million BTU, ethanol/biofuels received $5.72 per million BTU in energy subsidies. In 2009 alone, biofuels received $6 billion of federal subsidies via tax credits according to the Congressional Budget Office, and if existing policies continue, taxpayers' support for corn-based ethanol biofuels will total more than $30 billion in the next five years.

PAUL D. RYANThe GOP Path to Prosperity

Our budget cuts $6.2 trillion in spending from the president's budget over the next 10 years and puts the nation on track to pay off our national debt.

The Wall Street Journal | By PAUL D. RYAN | APRIL 5, 2011

Congress is currently embroiled in a funding fight over how much to spend on less than one-fifth of the federal budget for the next six months. Whether we cut $33 billion or $61 billion-that is, whether we shave 2% or 4% off of this year's deficit-is important. It's a sign that the election did in fact change the debate in Washington from how much we should spend to how much spending we should cut.

But this morning the new House Republican majority will introduce a budget that moves the debate from billions in spending cuts to trillions. America is facing a defining moment. The threat posed by our monumental debt will damage our country in profound ways, unless we act.

No one person or party is responsible for the looming crisis. Yet the facts are clear: Since President Obama took office, our problems have gotten worse. Major spending increases have failed to deliver promised jobs. The safety net for the poor is coming apart at the seams. Government health and retirement programs are growing at unsustainable rates. The new health-care law is a fiscal train wreck. And a complex, inefficient tax code is holding back American families and businesses.

Harry Reid to protect the Quran?

When a lone, misguided individual 'pastor' (out of thousands) decides to start burning the Quran - what is the logical reaction? Have Congress make a law, of course! Harry Reid has promised he will 'look into' this Quran burning. Which is entirely consistent with his position on the artist who created a urine soaked crucifix - wait - Reid didn't say anything about that? Huh. Reid is responding because Muslims in Afghanistan are slaughtering innocents in response. How should people be responding to all of this? And how does Glenn work Foghorn Leghorn into the conversation? Find out from radio today.

MSNBC: Burning the Quran is much worse than burning the Bible

MSNBC just couldn't resist a good opportunity to make Christians look like crazy, hate filled bigots. Jumping on the one crazy 'pastor' who thinks it's a wise use of time to burn religious books, MSNBC interviewed a guest who made one of the most ridiculous claims ever: It's more offensive to burn the Quran because it's directly from God and the Bible was written by man. Did the MSNBC host hit that softball out of the park? Or did they let it slide? WATCH

It's here! 2012 election kicks off

  • Obama throws his hat into the ring: Obviously this is not a surprise - the more interesting news to come out of the announcement was that Obama's campaign spot featured a platform full of duties that the President has no jurisdiction or responsibility over whatsoever.
  • GOP releases 1st 2012 ad: If this is any indication of what is to come, the ad makers for the GOP have a lot of fertile ground to cover in the upcoming campaign. The first ad is quite spectacular - featuring highlights of the President golfing, filling out his NCAA bracket, poor disaster management and endless amounts of Joe Biden. Oh, this is going to be fun...
  • Check out Glenn's response to Obama's platform on radio and watch the GOP ad HERE.

Glenn issues another AMAZING PREDICTION! Glenn hasn't made a prediction of this magnitude in quite some time, but he has big news to predict about who may be entering the 2012 election race. Read about Glenn's prediction and watch the radio segment at GlennBeck.com!

Is Howard Dean losing his mind? (Seriously)

Howard Dean is either completely cool with lying or he is suffering from a horrific, degenerative disease. At a recent speaking engagement Dean went on a truly remarkable rant that was completely detached from reality. In it he claimed that the Tea Parties were employing the same violent tactics as 1960 radicals who were 'blowing up' buildings, that Fox News lies (while MSNBC is bastion of truth), and the Dean Scream speech was merely a political attack piece specially edited by Fox News. Glenn has the incredible (and incredibly sad) audio on radio today.

Francis Fox Piven on 'dreadful' Glenn Beck

Check out the oh-so fair interview Piven recently gives when the host asks her to comment on the 'dreadful' Glenn Beck. Piven goes on to pine for violent uprisings like we just saw in Greece, England and elsewhere -- but is shocked that Glenn would say she's calling for violent revolutions. Huh? Glenn has the audio and response on radio today.
