Founding FathersQuote:

"As every appeal to the people would carry an implication of some defect in the government, frequent appeals would in great measure deprive the government of that veneration, which time bestows on everything, and without which perhaps the wisest and freest governments would not possess the requisite stability. If it be true that all governments rest on opinion, it is no less true that the strength of opinion in each individual, and its practical influence on his conduct, depend much on the number which he supposes to have entertained the same opinion. The reason of man, like man himself is timid and cautious, when left alone; and acquires firmness and confidence, in proportion to the number with which it is associated. When the examples, which fortify opinion, are ancient as well as numerous, they are known to have a double effect. In a nation of philosophers, this consideration ought to be disregarded. A reverence for the laws, would be sufficiently inculcated by the voice of an enlightened reason. But a nation of philosophers is as little to be expected as the philosophical race of kings wished for by Plato. And in every other nation, the most rational government will not find it a superfluous advantage, to have the prejudices of the community on its side."

Dear Patriot,

Our nation has also evolved a great deal over our short time of 235 years.  Here at the Thomas Jefferson Club, a portion of our mission statement reads...

"WE BELIEVE the United States is a highly successful Republic because of the Western Culture and Values upon which our nation was founded."

A culture drives a nation.  And every nation has a right to national self-determination.  The United States is no different.  So the subject for our next meeting, Wednesday, April 6th, is...

                "Which Way Western Man?"

To discuss this subject we have two excellent presenters who will address this question with facts, figures and solutions.

First up we will host Peter Brimelow, author of the national best-seller, "Alien Nation: Common Sense About America's Immigration Disaster" and Editor of VDare.com.  Our second speaker will be Louis March, author of, "Immigration and the End of Self Government" and Chairman of the Representative Government Education Foundation.  Mr. March is a former senior staffer of Senator Jesse Helms.

Please join us Wednesday, April 6th, 7pm at The Temperance House in Newtown.  **PLEASE NOTE OUR CHANGE OF VENUE DUE TO WASHINGTON XING INN'S RENOVATIONS**  The Temperance House is located at 5 South State Street in Newtown, Bucks County.

I look forward to seeing you on April 6th in Newtown!

All the best,

Jeff McGeary

President, Thomas Jefferson Club

Liberty Under Seige

On Tuesday, April 12th (7:00 PM), we are having a very important, urgent event on the-oppressive and lagging human rights-women, homosexuals, minorities, non-Islamic religions-under Shari'a Law both abroad and here in United States.  We recognize that part of what adds to the conflict is that in Islamic countries there is no separation mosque and state.  Of course, therein lays the problem because to question any Government entity is to question Allah and that is a crime punishable in various ways, depending on who you are.  This ultimately suppresses freedom of speech and encourages and perpetuates a torturous cycle of suppression of thought and expression.

There will be a Q&A at the end.

The event is meant to raise awareness of the horrific human crimes/conditions of persons both abroad and in America under Shari'a Law.

You can also find our Facebook event page here where you can confirm and through which you can invite as many persons as you'd like:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=198614740160991

If you aren't familiar with our organization Temple University Purpose, we are an aggressive, inclusive Political/Advocacy student organization that does not subscribe to political correctness.  We are neither politically nor religiously affiliated.  However, one shouldn't mistake us as a neutral organization because that implies that one stands for nothing - we, however, stand for a lot.  And, in this particular case, we stand for the human rights of all.

We pride ourselves in introducing conversations and creating a dialogue and debates on issues that otherwise would be omitted from the Temple University arena of thought and debate.

Complaint to CAIR re: Radio Islam antisemitic hate speech

by Bill Levinson

The following was filed, with our full contact information, at http://www.cair.com/FileACase/tabid/62/Default.aspx. We will see if CAIR's standards on discrimination include the posting of anti-Semitic hate speech and Holocaust denial under color of Islam.

CAIR has expressed objections to Rep. King's hearings on Islamic extremism. Mainstream American Muslims need to be aware that perceptions of Islamic extremism come not only from terroristic violence under color of Islam but also from vicious hate speech under color of Islam as shown by the Radio Islam Web site.

Anti-Semitic hate posted at http://www.radioislam.org/ includes a link to "The International Jew" (whose sponsor, Henry Ford, retracted and repudiated it long ago) as well as Holocaust denial at http://www.radioislam.org/historia/really/intro.htm and numerous anti-Semitic hate cartoons such as this one: http://www.radioislam.org/islam/roligt/big/rislam82.gif

Facebook Finally Pulls Israel-Hating Group

By Andrew L. Jaffee, netwmd.com

Facebook has finally pulled down a page/group which called itself the "Third Intifada." After a long period of carefully worded legal-speak defending this page, Facebook has covered its rear end from liability by yanking the page - there was no morality involved in the company's decision. Just the title of this bigoted "Third Intifada" page means incitement to violence and violence itself. Any sane person knows what "Intifada" means pragmatically: Killing Jews. Specifically, the "Second Intifada" culminated after Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian terror-master Yasser Arafat met at Camp David in 2000. Of course, Arafat rejected Israel's offer of everything Palestinians supposedly aspire to:

... The most generous peace offer in the history of the conflict was answered with the most sustained wave of Palestinian suicide bombings in Israeli history. In less than...

It's Not that Qaddafi Was Right, It's that We Knew He Was Right

We can continue pretending that ...jihadists, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other anti-American Islamists are not a significant part of the Libyan mujahideen...But pretending won't change who the "rebels" really are and what this "Arab Spring" is really about.

By Andrew C. McCarthy, NATIONAL REVIEW ONLINE

Jonah and Mark went back and forth over the weekend on the question of whether Qaddafi has been right in saying that the "'rebels' are al Qaeda." In particular, Jonah pointed to the reports about the "rebel" commander Abdul Hakim al-Hasadi (alternatively referred to as al-Hasidi), a member of the Qaeda-connected Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIGF) who was detained by the U.S. for several years after his capture in 2002. (I discussed al-Hasadi in my weekend column.)

I'd suggest that the real issue here is not whether Qaddafi was right, it's that our government knew he was right...

If the UN sanctions arming the rebels to aid their "self defense" it can also arm Hamas to protect their lives. So much for the boycott. T. Belman

Daily News

The military mission America is helping to prosecute in Libya against Gaddafi has placed us into some questionable circles - to say the least. Libyan rebel leader Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, in a recent interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, admitted that some of his rebel fighters, "around 25? men from the Derna area in eastern Libya, had been recruited by him to fight coalition troops in Iraq. Al-Hasidi also admitted that he himself had fought against America's "foreign invasion" in Afghanistan. Thus, it appears that America' degradation of Gaddafi's fighting forces, claims of "humanitarianism" notwithstanding, is aiding our Islamist enemies.

According to both U.S. and British officials, Al-Hasidi revealed he had been captured in 2002 in Peshwar, Pakistan. Handed over to the United...

The hatred and violence that killed five members of the Fogel family existed before the Jewish state did.

By DANNY AYALON

The recent murder of a family of five in Itamar shocked Israelis to their core. A terrorist broke into the Fogels' home before stabbing and garroting to death the two parents, Udi and Ruth, and their children Yoav, 11 years old, Elad, 4, and almost decapitating Hadas, who was only three months old.

There has since been very little outcry from the international community. Many nations who are so used to condemning the building of apartment units beyond the Green Line remained silent on this sadistic murder. Meanwhile, the few international correspondents to have covered the massacre have placed it in the context of ongoing settlement-building and Israel's so-called "occupation."

However, regardless of one's views on which people have greater title to Judea and Samaria, or the West Bank, it is a historically inaccurate distortion...

 Campaign for Working Families

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

To: Friends & Supporters

From: Gary L. Bauer

The Day The World Dodged A Bullet

Thirty years ago today the United States came very close to losing the greatest president of the 20th century. That morning I had just finished briefing members of Congress on the goals of the still-new Reagan Administration.

As my car returned to the White House, a bevy of D.C. police cruisers with sirens blazing rushed up 17th Street. Moments later more headed in the same direction. Suddenly, I recalled that President Reagan was speaking that morning at the Washington Hilton hotel, located in the direction the police were headed.

Entering the Old Executive Office Building I was shocked to see men with automatic weapons positioned outside the office of the vice president. Seconds later, I heard the news -- Ronald Reagan had been shot by a would-be assassin.

For hours the president's staff gathered in various offices, huddled around TV sets, calling colleagues higher in the administration, doing everything we could to get accurate up-to-date information. There was a lot of praying. We had walked into office with a victorious Reagan only a little more than two months before, filled with dreams on how we would turn the country around after the disastrous Carter "malaise."

Thankfully, Ronald Reagan survived, but as we know now he came incredibly close to death on that fateful day. A few weeks later, a radical Muslim, Mehmet Ali Agca, attempted to kill Pope John Paul II, who also barely survived the attempt on his life. The pontiff and the president, with the able collaboration of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (who survived an assassination attempt in 1984), went on to lead the struggle against Soviet communism. They ultimately prevailed. Both men believed that God thwarted the assassination attempts because He had important things for them to accomplish. They were right.

Today is a good day to remind ourselves that God is in control. Our country faces massive challenges. The headlines reporting natural and manmade disasters are chilling. There is incompetence or worse in high places. But the God of Abraham, who hung the stars in the sky and knows when a sparrow falls to the ground, has promised He will not forsake us. For us it remains to be of good cheer and to fight the good fight!

Schumer Shows His Hand

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) showed his hand yesterday in the high stakes showdown over a government shutdown. Schumer, who is in charge of messaging for Senate Democrats, got on a conference call and thought he was speaking only to fellow Democrat senators when he proceeded to give them their talking points for the upcoming budget debate.

"I always use 'extreme.' That's what the caucus instructed me to do the other week. 'Extreme cuts.' ...'Extreme and draconian,'" Schumer said. He went on to instruct his fellow Democrats to drive a wedge between the House GOP and the Tea Party.

What Schumer didn't know was that several reporters were already on the call. Evidently, a staffer interrupted him and the line went silent for a few minutes. But when the call resumed, Democrats dutifully stuck to their script. Sen. Barbara Boxer spoke first, saying, "We Senate Democrats are calling on Speaker Boehner to abandon the extreme right wing of his Republican caucus." Boxer was followed by Sens. Carper (D-DE), Cardin (D-MD) and Blumenthal (D-CT), all of whom used "extreme" or "extremist" in their statements.

Remember, Democrats are arguing over $50 billion in spending cuts when we have a $1.5 trillion deficit. The extremists in this debate are the liberals who don't see the problem! But it is clear from this episode that they are not serious about dealing with America's extreme fiscal crisis.

It is also clear that they want a government shutdown because they believe they will win that debate. In fact, former Democrat National Committee chairman Howard Dean admitted as much yesterday, saying, "If I was head of the DNC, I would be quietly rooting for it ... I know who's going to get blamed - we've been down this road before." I guarantee you that Schumer and other Democrats wouldn't be agitating for a government shutdown without the blessing of the White House.

I mention this just to remind you of the difficult position House Republicans are in. They control only one-third of the budget process. The Democrat Senate and President Obama also have a say. But regardless of the fiscal liabilities on our nation's balance sheets, they are trying to turn the GOP's push to rein in big government into a political liability.

As I've said before, the Republican message needs to be jobs and growth, not just cuts. All the talk about cuts, which Democrats are using to scare voters, makes it appear as though Republicans aren't doing anything about jobs and the economy, which are the voters' top priorities.

How Low Can He Go?

A new Quinnipiac poll has bad news for President Obama. Forty-eight percent of registered voters disapproved of President Obama's job performance, while 42% approved. But by a greater margin, 50%-to-41%, most voters also said Obama does not deserve reelection. According to Quinnipiac, both numbers -- job approval and reelection -- are all time lows for Obama.

On Libya, 47% voters polled opposed U.S. involvement, while 41% supported it. Fifty-eight percent of voters agreed that Obama "has not clearly stated U.S. goals for Libya," while just 29% felt he had. On other issues:

  • 64% of voters disapproved of Obama's handling of the budget deficit.
  • 60% disapproved of his handling of the economy.
  • 55% disapproved of his performance on healthcare.
  • By a margin of 47%-to-35%, voters disapproved of Obama's handling of energy policy.

What Is Obama's Energy Policy?

With gas prices at seasonal record levels and headed higher, President Obama today delivered a major speech on energy and expressed his desire to reduce U.S. oil imports by 33% over the next ten years. That is a laudable goal. But Obama's current policies are more likely to cut our own oil production by 33% than cut our imports by that amount.

If Obama were serious, he would end his moratorium on offshore and land-based drilling and exploration in order to boost domestic energy production. The United States has tremendous energy resources, which if tapped would create jobs and keep a lot of money from flowing to the Middle East. But that's not what Obama has in mind. Today's speech was more of the same from Obama -- saying one thing that fits public opinion, even as he pursues far-left policies.

After going overseas to encourage offshore drilling in Brazil, Obama wants us to use more expensive, less efficient alternatives, like ethanol, which even Bill Clinton and Al Gore say is a bad idea. Obama's bureaucrats at the EPA are furiously trying to impose a cap-and-trade scheme that will cause energy prices to skyrocket, while radical environmentalists and animal rights activists are blocking even so-called "green energy" programs.

This madness must stop. A growing, thriving economy needs energy, and the world's superpower should not be held hostage to extremists in the Middle East or those here on the radical left.

RedState

RedState Morning Briefing

For March 31, 2011

1. Joanne Kloppenburg Is Bothered By Outside Money Spent in Judicial Elections, Except for the $3 Million in Outside Money Being Spent to Elect Her

We have covered extensively how the liberals in Wisconsin are trying to overturn the results of last year's elections by funding a massive campaign to oust conservative Justice David Prosser in favor of liberal assistant AG Joanne Kloppenburg. One of the things we have covered extensively is that Kloppenburg is the beneficiary of a massive $3 million advertising campaign sponsored by outside Democrat and union groups who hope that she will overturn the recent legislation on collective bargaining for public employees. These groups are running sleazy and malicious ads which Kloppenburg herself sees no problem with and feels for some reason that she cannot denounce.

2. Ten Reflections On Libya

In war, a questionable decision made swiftly is often better than a good one made too late. At least Sarah Palin, who supported a no-fly zone weeks before Obama, understood this. If anything, Obama's reliance on the humanitarian argument (Benghazi will be flattened) suggests that he was more inclined to back the rebels as their chances of victory diminished. I am left with the creeping suspicion that Obama isn't anti-war so much as he's uncomfortable with American victory.

3. According to Dick Durbin, Presidents Should NOT Come To Congress Before Going to War

From the "say or do anything to defend your man" file, Dick Durbin just ingratiated himself to the American anti-war left with a doozie of a tale on the floor of the United States Senate.

According to Dick Durbin, a man who once called American soldiers nazis, Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush broke precedent by going to Congress before initiating hostilities.

4. AARP Investigation Reveals Obamacare Will Enrich Non-Profit Seniors Lobby

An 18-month congressional investigation into AARP reveals that the organization stands to make more than $1 billion over the next 10 years from Obamacare, a law the seniors lobby supported despite opposition among its core constituency.

AARP, which operates as a tax-exempt organization in Washington, would profit from an increase in its insurance business, specifically from the sale of Medicare products to older Americans. The lucrative business has already transformed AARP into an insurance powerhouse. If it were a for-profit business, AARP would rank as the sixth-largest insurance company in America with profits of $427 million in 2009.

5. Lies, Damned Lies and DOI Press Releases

In an effort to deflect blame for high gasoline prices away from the Obama Administration, the Department of the Interior today released a report which purports to show that the oil and gas industry, not DOI or BOEMRE, is guilty of dragging its feet on offshore energy exploration and development. This, in spite of a 10 month regulatory moratorium/permatorium that has brought new well drilling to a near standstill, and the first year-long offshore lease sale hiatus since 1958.

This is propaganda, pure and simple. Interior's career staff certainly knows better, but for the time being they find it expedient to facilitate the Obama/Salazar green jihad against the American oil and gas industry. As a result, the report is one which bolsters Democratic talking points while twisting reality.

6. Organized Labor or Organized Thugs? AFSCME Openly Threatens WI Businesses

Well, that didn't take long. Union threats that were somewhat isolated a couple of weeks ago are now gaining in popularity among union bosses in Wisconsin. Business owners are now receiving threatening letters telling them that, if they don't support government-sector unions, their businesses will be boycotted.

Students Who Get It!

I went to Princeton in 1969, where they taught me that government could solve the world's problems. Put the smartest people in a room, give them enough taxpayer money, and they will fix most everything. During those years, I heard nothing about an alternative.

In the next 48 hours, the first major battle against Big Labor power grabs this year comes to a vote in Congress, and I need your immediate action.

With the union hierarchy putting massive pressure on every member of Congress to vote their way, it's up to you to urge Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick to stand up for worker freedom!

The U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on an amendment to strip a critical pro-worker freedom provision from the pending Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization.

It's absolutely vital you urge Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick to vote AGAINST the LaTourette/Costello Amendment stripping Sec. 903 from the FAA bill (H.R. 658).

Please, call Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick at (202) 225-4276 or click here to send an email right away!

You see, Sec. 903 overturns an Obama Administration bureaucratic power grab -- rammed through by two former union officials -- aimed at greasing the skids for the forced unionization of airline and railway workers.

And now Big Labor is turning up the heat on every member of Congress to support the amendment.

So please, urge Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick to vote AGAINST the LaTourette/Costello Amendment to the FAA bill (H.R. 658).

Call Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick at (202) 225-4276 or click here to send an email
.

In a recent vote in committee, a handful of Republicans voted with Big Labor-backed Democrats in favor of the Obama power grab -- failing by just one vote and demonstrating just how urgent it is for you to act NOW.

Last year, two former union officials installed onto the National Mediation Board (NMB) rammed through a rule change tilting union certification elections in favor of the union bosses, over the strenuous objections of the third member of the agency.

The FAA reauthorization bill contains language overturning the rule change, but now Big Labor apologists in Congress are trying to defend the union-boss power grab.

And now the union bosses are turning up the heat on every member of Congress -- Republican and Democrat alike -- to protect their ill-gotten gains.

It's vital you urge your U.S. Representative to vote against the LaTourette/Costello Amendment to the FAA bill (H.R. 658).

Please, call Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick at (202) 225-4276 or click here to send an email!

Tell your Congressman to stand strong against Big Labor power grabs, whether they come as an act of Congress or the federal bureaucracy.

This vote is happening in the next two days, so it's vital you act IMMEDIATELY!

You see, until just recently, all workers covered by the National Railway Act -- including airline and railroad employees -- could only be forced under union boss control if a simple majority of workers agreed.

The other 49%? They have to just deal with it and pay up or be fired.

That's far from fair, I know.

But now, thanks to the National Mediation Board's rule change, it no longer even takes a majority.

When I heard the National Mediation Board's decision I was shocked.

But perhaps I shouldn't be.

This is the same Presidential Administration that pushed radical Big Labor bills like "Card Check," which would subject workers to threats, intimidation and WORSE from militant union organizers.

President Obama's and his union boss cronies' one goal is to FORCE more workers into unions and they'll do so by any means necessary.

Now, thanks to President Obama's National Mediation Board's decision, just a minority workers can force the entire company under union boss control.

But it gets worse.

It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE for workers covered by this decision to ever decertify their union.

Once Big Labor has seized control, they'll maintain it indefinitely.

And that means the union officials will be completely unaccountable!

The good news is, legislation will be voted on any day now in the U.S. House to override the National Mediation Board's decision.

But unless you act immediately, I'm afraid Big Labor could secure enough votes to strip the FAA reauthorization bill of this key provision.

And remember, this is the first real test in the new Congress after the American people rejected pro-forced unionism incumbents in November.

Will the new members of Congress stick true to their campaign pledges to fight government-granted special privileges for the union hierarchy, or will they become Big Labor-appeasers?

Only grassroots action from the American people -- led by Right to Work supporters like you -- can determine what happens next.

So please, urge your U.S. Representative to vote against the LaTourette/Costello Amendment to the FAA bill (H.R. 658).

Please, call Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick at (202) 225-4276 or click here to send an email.

There's no time to waste. Please act NOW!

Sincerely,

Mark Mix

P.S The pending Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill (H.R. 658) contains a provision (Sec. 903) to override the National Mediation Board's rule change aimed at forcing railway and airline workers under Big Labor's thumb.

But the union bosses are going all out to protect their ill-gotten power -- and the U.S. House will vote in the next 48 hours on an amendment to strip the provision from the FAA bill.

Please, call Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick at (202) 225-4276 or click here to send an email right away! Tell your U.S. Representative to oppose the LaTourette/Costello Amendment to the FAA bill.

The pivotal vote on the McConnell Amendment could come at any time.  Senators are finally going to go on record about whether they want unaccountable and unelected EPA bureaucrats or your elected officials to make the laws in this country.  Let's pay close attention to who stands up for constitutional government and who would prefer to let backroom agencies run the country.

As one of our most engaged activists on the energy issue and EPA power grab, I wanted to make sure you saw AFP's latest web ad.

Click here to view the ad.

Please forward it to your friends so that we can make sure everyone knows just how important this vote really is.

"Have you something to do to-morrow; do it to-day." --Benjamin Franklin

Editorial Exegesis

Yucca Mountain, Nevada

"Before a 9.0 axis-shifting earthquake damaged the nuclear reactors at Fukushima, Japan, legislation was introduced in the House of Representatives endorsing the construction of 200 nuclear power reactors in the U.S. by 2040, tripling current megawatt generating capacity. H.R. 909, co-sponsored by 64 Republicans, also endorsed the completion of the spent fuel storage facility at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. That facility, which was supposed to open 12 years ago, has been taken off the table by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Energy Secretary Steven Chu and the White House as unsafe. After Fukushima, we say: compared to what? ... Regardless of whether we build another nuclear power plant, we now have 104 in use generating about 20% of our electricity. Spent fuel rods are stored on-site at these facilities, and the rods will continue to pile up unless we move them as intended to a completed facility at Yucca Mountain. ... The real danger at Fukushima lay in the spent fuel rods housed in large, water-filled pools in the reactor buildings outside the concrete-and-steel fortresses that surround the reactor cores. It's the on-site storage of spent fuel rods, not the reactors, that has caused most of the radiation detected and remains the greatest danger. Yucca Mountain was our attempt to solve this problem. The Energy Department spent two decades studying Yucca and found the site to be safe and geologically stable. The spent rods, stored 1,000 feet under a mountain, are unlikely to be disturbed by 9.0 quakes or 40-foot tsunamis. ... We need the energy and jobs that nuclear power can provide. The Energy Information Agency projects that by 2030 U.S. electricity demand will increase by 45%. Since nuclear power now supplies 20%, America will need 35 additional nuclear power plants just to meet future demand. We also need to store the spent fuel we've generated and will continue to generate safely and away from major population centers. Without Yucca Mountain it won't happen." --Investor's Business Daily

"[The kinetic military action in Libya] is just the foreign policy outworking of Obama's campaign to fundamentally transform America. Notice the common thread. He is using domestic policies to effectuate 'economic justice' at home, trying to cut 'wealthy' Americans down to size. Now he is using foreign policy to diminish America's role and stature in the international community to cut wealthy, imperialistic America down to size." --columnist David Limbaugh

"In last Saturday's Wall Street Journal, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-MA) wrote that what is taking place in the Middle East 'could be the most important geostrategic shift since the fall of the Berlin Wall.' That's the wrong analogy. When the Berlin Wall fell, people were liberated. What is happening in the Middle East could be the most important geostrategic shift since communists came to power in Russia and China, oppressing and killing millions. This is just the beginning. Saudi Arabia is next and already the fault lines in that creaking monarchy are visible. The hand of Iran is behind much of this turmoil and behind Iran is al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden's vision for the toppling of every regime in the region, each to be replaced by the most religiously fundamentalist and politically repressive of leaders." --columnist Cal Thomas

"The real warriors ... all say the same thing: spend my life if you must, but don't waste it. A bond of trust based on that contract must exist between a president and the troops. If the president is willing to risk their lives in the absence of a compelling need to defeat a threat to America, that trust is violated. President Obama violated that trust by entering the Libyan civil war in the absence of any compelling and urgent American interest. He risks the future of our all-volunteer military by, without good cause, risking the lives of U.S. pilots and those who support them in combat." --columnist Jed Babbin

"Leftists like to think of themselves as clear-thinking realists who are sensitive to nuance and irony. In reality, they are like little children who regard fairy tales as non-fiction. For instance, they champion socialism even though the past hundred years have proven time and again that it doesn't work in practice the way it does in theory. On the contrary, in every country where it has existed, it has inevitably led to loss of liberty, widespread poverty and mass murder on a scale that has no parallel in human history. Point out this obvious fact to a liberal, and once he gets done calling you a greedy, heartless, bloodthirsty reactionary, he'll insist that we haven't yet seen true socialism. Actually, we have, though. We've seen it in the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, in China, Cambodia, North Korea and Cuba." --columnist Burt Prelutsky

The Demo-gogues

Grasping for answers: "In the past, we have seen [Moammar Gadhafi] hang civilians in the streets, and kill over a thousand people in a single day. Now we saw regime forces on the outskirts of the city. We knew that if we wanted -- if we waited one more day, Benghazi, a city nearly the size of Charlotte, could suffer a massacre that would have reverberated across the region and stained the conscience of the world. It was not in our national interest to let that happen. I refused to let that happen." --Barack Obama (How can our "interest" be threatened when we don't even know what they are? Even Def Sec Robert Gates admits we don't have a "vital national interest" in Libya.)

Nothing to see here: "And so nine days ago, after consulting the bipartisan leadership of Congress, I authorized military action to stop the killing and enforce UN Security Council Resolution 1973. ... And tonight, I can report that we have stopped Gadhafi's deadly advance." --Barack Obama, who neglected to mention Gadhafi's renewed advance just before the speech

More income redistribution? "We will safeguard the more than $33 billion that was frozen from the Gadhafi regime so that it's available to rebuild Libya. After all, the money doesn't belong to Gadhafi or to us -- it belongs to the Libyan people. And we'll make sure they receive it." --Barack Obama

Gross exaggerations: "I voted against H.R.1 [the GOP budget-cutting bill]. I thought it was a simply a meat-axe approach without any consideration of priorities." --Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) (The bill would have cut $61 billion from a $3.7 trillion budget. That's a "meat axe"?)

Where do constitutional freedoms come from? Democrats! "The Tea Party Republicans in Washington claim they're concerned about the budget balance. But it's a disguise! It's not true! It's a lie! That's not [what] they want. They want to -- they want other people not to be able to have their opinions. They don't deserve the freedoms that are in the Constitution, but we'll give them to them anyway." --Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)

Dezinformatsia

Speaking truth to power: "With his speech [Monday], President Obama placed himself in a great tradition of American presidents who have understood America's special role in the world. ... This was a Kennedy-esque speech." --Washington Post columnist Robert Kagan

"All Obama is saying is give war a chance." --Foreign Policy's Tom Ricks

"So nobody's calling this a war -- I mean, it's called military intervention, it's called military strikes, it's called United Nations Security Council enforcement -- but they're not calling it a war. Are there other cases in history where you've had Congress throwing such a fit over the UN Security Council making a resolution, the United States supporting that resolution, and our lawmakers going 'Now wait a minute, you have to come and ask us about this'?" --MSNBC's Contessa Brewer

Thoughtless analysis: "Many Americans find themselves scratching their heads about America's military intervention in Libya, and part of the reason, they say, can be summed up in one word: overload. ... Or maybe it is compassion fatigue." --The New York Times' Kirk Johnson

Extreme political correctness: "A bomb planted in a bag exploded near a bus stop in a Jewish district of Jerusalem on Wednesday, killing a woman and injuring at least 30 people. ... Police said it was a 'terrorist attack' -- Israel's term for a Palestinian strike." --Reuters "news service" (We're surprised the byline wasn't Helen Thomas.)

Cat out of the bag: "If I was head of DNC, I would be quietly rooting for [shutting down the national government]. I know who's going to get blamed -- we've been down this road before. ... Gag reflex kicking in: "More than ten years after leaving the Oval Office, no one on either side of the aisle denies that Bill Clinton continues to shape the world we live in. "When you have Islamic jihadists going toe-to-toe with a mass-murdering thug and his followers, humanitarianism is in dangerously short supply. So, apparently, is sanity. If the rebels win, we have the makings of a terrorist-led pariah state which hates the West in general, and the United States in particular. Is there clarity in redundancy?" --columnist Arnold Ahlert

"Moammar Gadhafi says of the no-fly zone, 'In the short term we will beat them, and in the long term we will beat them.' Which is Libyan for 'Bring it. Winning. Bring it. Winning.'" --comedian Jay Leno

"President Obama's speech on Monday night was, at best, OK. It got tongues wagging about the 'Obama Doctrine' which appears to be: 'If it won't drag Iran into the fight we'll take a look.' To use a hated football metaphor, it was a speech which should have been given in the locker room before the combatants ran out onto the field (remember this is a metaphor). ... Obama's speech was the equivalent of calling time-out in the middle of the first quarter and telling the troops to get in there and fight, fight, FIGHT!" --political analyst Rich Galen

Harry Reid Chooses Shutdown Over Responsibility

Posted March 30th, 2011

You would think liberals in Congress have nothing better to do with their time. Amid a war in Libya, an effort to aid earthquake and tsunami-stricken Japan, a continuing war in Afghanistan, rising gas prices and endless unemployment, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and the Democratic leadership in the U.S. Senate are refusing to accept a modest agreement to fund the federal government through the end of the fiscal year. And time is running short. What's Senator Reid wrangling over? A mere $51 billion in additional budget cuts, which amounts to a few days of government deficit spending.

But Reid's stonewalling isn't just about dollars and cents, or saving federal funding for a Cowboy Poetry Festival. Reid and the Democrats in Congress are setting the groundwork for a partial government shutdown so they can attempt to lay the blame at the feet of the Tea Party and Republicans in Congress and gain politically. They're simply putting electoral politics over the business of our nation.

Obama Cried, Kids Died

Human Events | by Ann Coulter | 03/30/2011

"Humanitarian" seems to be the Democrats' new word for "absolutely no national interest."

The Democrats were not so interested in a "humanitarian" intervention against a much more brutal dictator in Iraq. But, of course, taking out Saddam Hussein, a state sponsor of terrorism who harbored one of the perpetrators of the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, would make Americans safer.

Democrats are furious whenever American boys (girls and gays) are put in harm's way -- unless the troops are on a mission that has nothing whatsoever to do with defending the United States.

May's College grads will learn lessons their Marxist Professors didn't teach

Mar 30, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins

 By Kevin "Coach" Collins

The importance of learning real world practical skills from a college degree program has never been more obvious.

College undergraduate courses that should more accurately be named, "Hating Conservatives 101" "Being Ashamed of America" "White Guilt" and "Radical Chic" are even less useful now than ever before.  The garbage radical professors have been cramming into our young generation's heads, for so many years, has finally caught up to them and it is doing appalling damage.

Two of three voters 18 to 29 voted for Obama's "hope and change."  They were urged to by the beard and paisley dress crowd. But to what end?

Young workers, those of college age are unemployed at a rate above 24%. College educated young workers are not faring well under Obama's administration.

Colleges can help their graduates find jobs, but their socialist fantasies can't find them jobs that have been eliminated by the policies of Obama the man college students were ... Continue Reading:May's College grads will learn lessons their Marxist Professors didn't teach

Full-Throttle Drill, Drill, Drill

The Patriot Post | By Lawrence Kudlow · Thursday, March 31, 2011

If you buy into the energy speech President Obama delivered on Wednesday, it sure sounds like we're headed for drill, drill, drill. It would be a total reversal of policy. I guess $100-plus oil and near $4 gas at the pump -- along with a consumer economic-political revolt -- will do that to you.

After bashing oil and gas companies for a couple of years and instituting a virtual drilling moratorium, President Obama now says yes to offshore oil and makes a big pitch for natural gas. There may even be incentives for faster leasing and smaller royalty payments to the government.

Is it credible? Well, when you get to the fine print, it may not be.

When Geraldine Ferraro Said No to U.N. Israel-Bashing

By Anne Bayefsky, NRO

From 1994 to 1996, Geraldine Ferraro was the American ambassador to the U.N. Human Rights Commission in Geneva. I was an adviser to the Canadian delegation to the commission and had the opportunity to watch Ferraro in action behind closed doors in meetings of the "Western European and Others Group" (WEOG).

At WEOG meetings, Western states hammered out shared policy on issues of common interest before stepping into the full morass of the U.N.'s top human-rights body. At that time, one quarter of all the resolutions adopted by the commission that were critical of specific states condemned Israel alone, while the commission remained silent on almost all egregious violations of human rights around the world. For 25 years, the formal agenda of the commission, which governed every meeting, had contained one item devoted to demonizing Israel and one item to human rights on the almost 200 other U.N. members.

This was the environment into which Ferraro...

Judge has no authority

Two public union chapters have filed a lawsuit challenging the state's contentious new collective bargaining law.

Union chapters representing Madison public works employees and Dane County firefighters contend the law's impairs unions' ability to sustain themselves and individuals' ability to associate with them. They go on to argue the law creates conflict between union and non-union public workers and the state Senate lacked the necessary quorum when it passed the law on March 9.

Al Qaeda's most influential English-language preacher said revolts sweeping the Arab world would help rather than harm its cause by giving Islamists freed from tyranny greater scope to speak out.

Western and Arab officials say the example set by young Arabs seeking peaceful political change is a counterweight to al-Qaeda's push for violent militancy and weakens its argument that democracy and Islam are incompatible.

Cash for Clunkers 2: the return of Government Motors

Ready for another cash for clunkers program? It looks like General Motors is attempting to replace it's own consumer incentives with tax payer money. The car company, bailed out of bankruptcy in 2009 by the American tax payer, appears to be turning the government into an automatic rebate provider.

The Obama administration and their friends on Capitol Hill are floating around a proposal to change the $7500 tax credit for green vehicles. This change can be found not only in President Barack Obama's budget but also a bill proposed by Senator Debbie Stabenow, Michigan Democrat.

Democrats blame Tea Party for budget impasse

Sorry for the "impasse"

Democrats accused Republicans on Tuesday of walking away from budget talks that would cut spending and avoid a looming government shutdown for fear of angering grass-roots Tea Party conservatives.

With time running short, negotiators appeared to be making little progress in closed-door talks to finalize a budget for the remainder of the current fiscal year and ensure the government keeps operating beyond an April 8 deadline.

FDA chemist, son charged with insider trading

Your tax dollars hard at work

A chemist with the Food and Drug Administration and his son were arrested Tuesday on charges of running a $2.27 million insider trading scheme.

Prosecutors say Cheng Yi Liang, 57, and his son, Andrew Liang, 25, used confidential information from a password-protected FDA tracking system to buy and trade the stocks of companies with pending drug applications. Both were arrested Tuesday on charges including securities fraud and wire fraud and made an initial court appearance in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt, Md.

Their lawyers did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
A criminal complaint charges the men, both of Gaithersburg, Md., with trading on inside information from November 2007 to this month. Prosecutors say the father and son used the proceeds to pay for travel and credit card bills and to buy new cars, prosecutors said.

On Senate call, a glimpse of marching orders

Thanks for the kind words Sen. Schumer

Moments before a conference call with reporters was scheduled to get underway on Tuesday morning, Charles E. Schumer of New York, the No. 3 Democrat in the Senate, apparently unaware that many of the reporters were already on the line, began to instruct his fellow senators on how to talk to reporters about the contentious budget process.

After thanking his colleagues - Barbara Boxer of California, Benjamin L. Cardin of Maryland, Thomas R. Carper of Delaware and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut - for doing the budget bidding for the Senate Democrats, who are facing off against the House Republicans over how to cut spending for the rest of the fiscal year, Mr. Schumer told them to portray John A. Boehner of Ohio, the speaker of the House, as painted into a box by the Tea Party, and to decry the spending cuts that he wants as extreme. "I always use the word extreme," Mr. Schumer said. "That is what the caucus instructed me to use this week."

EXCLUSIVE: Should Kagan Recuse from Health Cases? Internal DOJ Emails Raise Questions (CNSNews.com) - Emails that the Justice Department has provided to CNSNews.com in response to a Freedom of Information Act request raise questions about whether Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan ought to recuse herself from judging the lawsuits challenging President Obama's health-care law.

Hoyer: Tea Party Republicans Acting Like 'Dictators' on Budget Negotiations Washington (CNSNews.com) - House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that conservative Republicans who oppose anything less than the significant budget cuts they promised their constituents are acting like "dictators" and are to blame for stalled budget negotiations. Harkening back to the government shutdown of 1996, Hoyer blamed what he called the "perfectionist caucus" for refusing to compromise, then and now.

HUD Secretary: No Other President in History 'Better Understands' Need for Public Housing Than Obama (CNSNews.com) - Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan says no other president "better understands" the need for public housing than President Obama:  "Barack Obama didn't come to Washington to let your homes be sold off to the highest bidder...and neither did I," he told the National Low Income Housing Coalition conference. "Let's not forget that President Obama got his first job out of school community organizing on the South Side of Chicago in public housing."

Al-Qaeda Tries to Link Itself to Libyan Rebellion (CNSNews.com) - Regardless of whether al-Qaeda turns out to have a role in the Western-backed, anti-Gaddafi opposition in Libya, the terrorist network certainly appears to be trying to associate itself with the rebellion. A publication on jihadist Web sites quotes racial cleric Anwar al-Awlaki on the "tsunami" washing across the Arab world, one that Awlaki said al-Qaeda views with elation. "I wonder whether the West is aware of the upsurge of mujahideen activity in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Arabia, Algeria, and Morocco?" he was quoted as saying.

U.S. Muslims Shouldn't Talk With FBI Unless They Have a Lawyer, Activist Tells Senators (CNSNews.com) -  A Muslim civil rights activist told Sen. Kyl said he was "stunned" that Farhana Khera, president and executive director of Muslim Advocates, would "issue those kind of instructions," given the importance of cooperation from American Muslims to help thwart terror attacks.

House GOP Seeks to Reverse Rising Gas Prices, Questions Obama's Commitment on Domestic Exploration Washington (CNSNews.com) - Because of the Obama administration's actions, 2011 will be the first year since 1958 that the federal government will not have held an offshore energy lease sale, according to the House Natural Resources Committee. The committee plans to hold a hearing Thursday on the rising gas prices. Committee chairman Rep. COMMENTARY:

Jeffrey: Obama's 'Empty Words': Our Constitution
By Terence P. Jeffrey
President Barack Obama shares at least one thing in common with one of the lesser Founding Fathers. He and Pierce Butler, a South Carolina delegate at the Constitutional Convention, both flip-flopped on their interpretation of the Constitution's war power. In his Monday speech explaining his unilateral decision to intervene in Libya's civil war, Obama reduced our Constitution to empty words.

Obama's Libyan War
By L. Brent Bozell III
Think of all the militant anti-war types who were thrilled at the removal of the Bush "war machine" in 2008, only to see President Obama's strained endorsement of military action in Libya. Oh, how the political wave of the hard left has crashed ashore. Over the last two years, chagrined radicals have watched in stunned disbelief while their hero Obama continued the Iraq war wrap-up on the generals' timeline and then added more troops in Afghanistan. And now he's started his very own kinetic military action. But to the media, the re-election of Barack Obama trumps all. The news media will bury anything negative that threatens his return in 2013.

Wrong Speech at the Wrong Time
By Rich Galen
President Obama's speech on Monday night got tongues wagging about the "Obama Doctrine," which appears to be: "If it won't drag Iran into the fight we'll take a look." As an example of Obama's timing tone-deafness, he said in his speech Monday night "tonight, I can report that we have stopped Gadhafi's deadly advance." Unfortunately Gadhafi must not have been tuned in, because the U.S. government's own Voice of America ran a headline on Tuesday saying, "Pro-Gadhafi Forces Drive Back Libyan Rebels". The White House had better take down that rhetorical "Mission Accomplished" banner.

Federation for American Immigration Reform

There's no time like tax time to think about what illegal immigration really costs American taxpayers. The financial burden for welfare, medical care, and education for those who are living in this country illegally now exceeds $100 billion per year. That translates into approximately $1,000 per taxpayer annually.

In these difficult economic times, it is unfair to expect hardworking, law abiding, taxpaying Americans to foot the bill for benefits to people who have no legal right to be in the country.

Our government needs to take a fair and principled stand against illegal immigration and in support of Americans, whether they are unemployed and looking for jobs that have been taken by illegal aliens, or whether they are working and paying taxes.

Obama Gets Anti-Secrecy Award in Secret Mtg

Early April Fools? Obama Gets Anti-Secrecy Award in Secret Mtg.

The Blaze | by Jonathon M. Seidl | Posted on March 31, 2011

Now this is ironic: on Monday, the president got a transparency award...during a closed, undisclosed meeting.

The award came from a group of transparency advocates, but was done in secret during a presentation that was originally supposed to be open to the press two weeks ago. The ceremony was "inexplicably postponed,' however, says Politico, and instead happened on Monday "without disclosing the meeting on his public schedule or letting photographers or print reporters into the room."

Conservatives Now Outnumber Liberals in Deep-Blue States

Conservatives Now Outnumber Liberals in Deep-Blue States

The Blaze | by Emily Esfahani Smith | Posted on March 30, 2011

That conservatives outnumber liberals nationally is not exactly news. But this is: according to a new poll from Gallup, even traditionally liberal states are drifting rightward.

Business Insider explains that "Conservatives now outnumber liberals in deep-blue bastions like Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Oregon."

Not Even Jon Stewart is Buying the President's NATO Argument

Not Even Jon Stewart is Buying the President's NATO Argument

The Blaze | by Jonathon M. Seidl | Posted on March 30, 2011

Remember when the AP called out Obama's claim that NATO will be taking over the Libyan mission, thus absolving the U.S. of a leadership role? Well, it looks like not even Jon Stewart is buying it.

On his program last night, Stewart delivered an epic roast of Obama's speech, criticizing the president for his angry tone, his intervention arguments, and his NATO dreams. I'll step aside and let Stewart take over:

Terror Threats at Marine Base

Dry Run or Wrong Turn? 3 Mid-East Men Try to Enter Calif. Marine Base After Allegedly Making Terror Threats

The Blaze | by Jonathon M. Seidl | Posted on March 31, 2011

Was it just a wrong turn, or something more sinister?

Marine base Camp Pendleton - one of the largest military bases in the country - is reportedly on high alert after three Middle Eastern men tried to enter the base last weekend on multiple occasions in multiple vehicles. And while the men initially claimed they didn't know each other and simply took a wrong turn, new information from a local gas station about "hateful comments" and "terrorist threats" casts doubt on their story:

Ask a liberal, "Isn't Team America: World Police the greatest film in the history of world cinema?"

Do so only rhetorically, though, because the answer is obvious: yes, it is. Matt Stone's and Trey Parker's marionette masterpiece is greater than Citizen Kane, way funnier (and less Commie) than The Battleship Potemkin, and so patriotic it makes The Birth of a Nation look like Avatar. Some liberals like to kid themselves that the movie is a satire on gung-ho American imperialism. But that's just a ruse to take liberal money at the box office. This is the film that tells it like it is: the Middle East is full of terrorists, Hollywood actors like Alec Baldwin, Tim Robbins, and Sean Penn are all crypto-Communist fags in league with Kim Jong Il, and Michael Moore is evil incarnate. They all must die.

Glenn BeckMarch 30, 2011

On Wednesday's Program

Cass Sunstein's wife 'has Obama's ear'

The NYT ran a feature article on Cass Sunstein's wife ('Still Crusading, but Now on the Inside') that explains how this former activist is now part of the President's inner circle when it comes to foreign policy. She's allegedly the voice who pushed the President into 'kinetic military action' with Libya. Glenn explains why the most dangerous man in America's wife is...well, dangerous. Get the details from radio today.

Chevy Volt fails to start during car show

Not only does the car not start, it's also not really electric. GM got massive government subsidies while covering up the fact that its gas power backup is actually more than a backup - it's on when the battery is low and when the car travels at highway speeds. Glenn has more on radio today.

Stephen Lerner doubles down: this is our moment!

No one in the press feels the need to question Lerner on his economic terrorism plot against the United States, but they sure are happy to let him spew his anti-American propaganda in fabulous op-ed columns! Is Lerner backing off his desire to crash the U.S. stock market and in turn the economy? Or is he doubling down? One guess what this radical union thug is doing...find out HERE.

Ayers & Dohrn fantasize about one world government (video)

This tender, loving, radical couple has been revolting for decades now. For a guy who allegedly has no connection to the President whatsoever, he seems to be a highly sought after speaker. The former domestic terrorists took questions and lovingly wax poetic about the possibility of a one world government system. Those crazy kids will never stop the craziness! STORY

Obama to address high energy prices

If he was consistent he'd declare mission accomplished because he's 'necessarily' skyrocketed energy prices. But he's not, so he's going to pretend he's concerned while blaming the oil companies. Obama's solution? Cut back oil imports and tell Americans to 'decrease consumption' of oil and burn more food for fuel (ethanol). Glenn explains how truly horrific these 'solutions' are on radio today.

More Trump: Stu considers what a Trump presidency might look like in his latest blog. It's a deeply thought-out checklist - check it out HERE.

Chuck Schumer microphone fail

Senator Schumer didn't realize the microphone was live and that reporters could hear when he explained how 'the caucus' instructed him to always use the word 'extreme' when talking about the Tea Party in order to marginalize them. Undeterred Democrats conduct the press call anyway and still use the word 'extreme' several times. Glenn has audio and reaction on radio today.
