Quote:
"If, from the more wretched parts of the old world, we look at those which are in an advanced stage of improvement, we still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised, to furnish new pretenses for revenues and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute."

Dear Patriot,
Our nation has also evolved a great deal over our short time of 235 years. Here at the Thomas Jefferson Club, a portion of our mission statement reads...

Difference Between Libya And Iraq Explained
Mu'ammar Qaddafi/Libya 2011 Saddam Hussein/Iraq 2003 Compared
BH Obama and GW Bush Compared
Video 5.4 Minutes Real Clear Politics
"So Obama is Killing Civilians, in a Pre-Emptive War, Unfunded, Undeclared War for Oil for Europeans, Promoted by the Dictators of the Arab League and the United Nations In Support of Unidentified Rebels Whom He Has Never Met With and you are okay with that?" ( 4:30)
Another view : Undersecretary for Defense for Policy Doug Feith: "The President wants to cut America down to size" (CNN March 23, 2011) - "the larger strategic goal"
Note also: Regime change in Iraq had been policy of United States formalized in Iraq Liberation Act October 31, 1998 (H.R. 4655) enacted by both US House and Senate with overwhelming and unequivocal Democratic support well before GW Bush took action in 2003.
If MontCo goes Democrat in November 2011, then, likely, it will go Democrat in 2012 and that would be disaster. I am not sure our country will survive four more years.

Libya Airstrikes
Mar 26, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins
By Jim Emerson, staff writer
Agree or disagree with the proposed no-fly zone over Libya, in order to make the no-fly zone safe you must prevent the enemy from endangering friendly aircraft. The purpose of the launch of Odyssey Dawn strikes is to degrade the Qadhafi regime's ability to resist future allied air operations.
Operation Odyssey Dawn
Odyssey Dawn is a UN sanctioned operation to protect Libyan civilians from the murderous onslaught of pro Qadhafi forces. The mission was designed to curtail any military related operations against Libyan civilians. President Obama committed U.S air assets in the initial operations with a strategic plan to pass the operations to a European controlled operation.
Airstrikes
The initial air and guided missile strike operations in Libya are designed to destroy Qadhafi's Air Defenses. The primary targets were airfields and fixed anti-aircraft missile (SAM) batteries. The second strikes were aimed at disrupting Command and Control Communications networks and military operations against opposition forces in Benghazi. Future Air ... Continue Reading:Libya Airstrikes

Sharia can tell us how this story ends.
Andrew C. McCarthy
Why are we fighting for the rebels in Libya?
For nearly 20 years, we've willfully blinded ourselves to the Rosetta Stone that decodes our enemy's war doctrine. But the jihad (or shall we call it "kinetic Islam"?) is catalyzed not by al-Qaeda but by sharia - by Muslim law. So is the "Arab Spring," now playing in Tripoli (and elsewhere) after rave reviews in Cairo.
I have been opposed to our country's starting a war against Libya. And starting a war is exactly what we have done, exactly what we would call it if the shoe were on the other foot - the "kinetic" and "limited" obfuscations of intervention proponents notwithstanding. My opposition is fourfold.
First, as a constitutional matter, Congress has neither declared war nor otherwise authorized combat operations. When there has been no attack on the United States, no imminent...

Do-gooders in a land with no good guys By MARK STEYN
That's great news. Who doesn't enjoy volunteering other people? The Arab League, for reasons best known to itself, decided that Col. Gadhafi had outlived his sell-by date. Granted that the region's squalid polities haven't had a decent military commander since King Hussein fired General Sir John Glubb half-a-century back, how difficult could it be even for Arab armies to knock off a psychotic transvestite guarded by Austin Powers fembots? But no: Instead, the Arab League decided to volunteer the U.S. military.
Likewise, the French and the British. Libya's special forces are trained by Britain's SAS. Four years ago, President Sarkozy hosted a state visit for Col. Gadhafi, his personal security detail of 30 virgins, his favorite camel and a 400-strong entourage that helped pitch his tent in the heart of Paris. Given that London and Paris have the third- and fourth-biggest military budgets on the...

Geert Wilders, leader of the Freedom Party (PVV) in the Hague parliament gave a speech in Rome last night at the Magna Carta Foundation-an Italian conservative think tank. The topic was timely, "The Failure of Multiculturalism and How to Turn the Tide". The full text of his speech can be found on The Freedom Party (PVV) website.
Here are some excerpts that indicate the rising public approbation of the twin evils of Multiculturalism and islamization and what Wilders suggests to combat it.
On the dangers of multiculturalism:
I am here today to talk about multiculturalism. This term has a number of different meanings. I use the term to refer to a specific political ideology. It advocates that all cultures are equal. If they are equal it follows that the state is not allowed to promote any specific cultural values as central and dominant. In other words: multiculturalism holds that the state should not promote a

Obama's Libyan adventure has thrown a confusing wrench into the gears of the liberal reelection machine. Up until then it had been a fairly straightforward campaign, with the media touting an imaginary economic recovery, blaming a Republican congress for obstructionism, flirting with a government shutdown and organizing a labor pushback against economic reforms. Maybe taking some credit for Cairo. Simple enough. But Libya complicates things.
The Nutroots already weren't too happy about Iraq and Afghanistan, or Gitmo or the return of military trials. The left's anti-war energy had already completely dissipated. But they could always close their eyes and blame Bush. But there's no blaming Bush for Libya. For the war without congressional approval or a complete lack of planning, no exit strategy and unclear objectives. This is your War(TM) on Obama(TM).
Still wars boost the White House occupant's numbers... at least temporarily....

"And now, turning to our policy towards the Middle East and the sweeping changes that have occurred there, I want to again pledge that while America is not willing, after Iraq, to ever again wage war in the Middle East, we are more than willing to assist in refugee resettlement.
"When Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria experienced their Islamist revolutions, I clearly stated that the United States under my administration would respect Arab efforts at self-determination. Never again would the Western world take up the cause of colonialism as a screen for trying to enforce our values on those who do not want them. I pledged that we would respect a Muslim perspective on democracy that differed radically from our own.

The administration and the UN justified the imposition of a no-fly zone on Libya as an humanitarian intervention. They knew full well that an innocuous sounding "no-fly zone" would start with a major boming campaign. McCain, Lieberman and Graham days before the bombing started were urging military intervention to avoid "a horrible blood bath". Just last night on Fox News McCain was arguing that the casualties were over 10,000 and would go higher.
Dennis Ross went so far as to say on behalf of the administration,
"We were looking at 'Srebrenica on steroids' -the real or imminent possibility that up to a 100,000 people could be massacred, and everyone would blame us for it,"
A few years ago I posted many articles on the truth about the bombing of Serbia in which it was said that Clinton met with Izetbegovic, the Muslim leader and was asked to intervene. Clinton said that if there were 5000 casualties, he could intervene. So...

RedState Morning Briefing
For March 28, 2011
1. RedState: A "Nerve Center" of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy
Well, this will make you feel good.
The kids over at Media Matters are gearing up to lose their 501(c)(3) status I'm guessing as they go headlong into a new mission to destroy Fox News and Newscorp.
Along the way, the Politico tells us Media Matters has given up stalking everyone except Fox and a handful of conservative websites it considers the "nerve center" of the vast right wing conspiracy.
RedState is one of those websites. Truth be told, fundraising seems to be the whole purpose behind this Politico article. Couple it with the fawning piece about the Media Matters guerilla pundit training program where they are trying to get people on Fox News and you have the makings of a "we need money" PR blitz with the help of Media Matters friends in the press.
I think we should fundraise off this news!
It is rather funny. In the Politico, the story is about Media Matters making it their new mission to destroy Fox. In the Washington Post, the story is about how Media Matters is training lefty pundits to get on Fox.
But the key takeaway is that we now know that by being a RedState user you are seen as part of the nerve center of the vast right wing conspiracy. Consequently, you, as part of the community, have an obligation to be on your A-game.
I hope you will consider beefing up your constitutional skills by participating in Hillsdale College's free online town hall on April 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.
You'll learn how our economic liberty has diminished and how we can get it back under the U.S. Constitution.
You can watch all or part of it. But most importantly, you can make sure what you believe. You really have no excuse given how easy Hillsdale College is making it.
For more information and to register for the event, go here.
2. Defense Secretary: No National Interests In Libya. Hillary Clinton: Yeah, But Libya Is The Same As 9/11
I don't watch the Sunday talk shows because rarely is anything of substance discussed or revealed on them. I suppose fifteen years ago they set the tone for the upcoming week's media coverage, but today they are a superfluous exercise that has little value beyond providing a subsidy to the hair spray industry.
Sometimes, though, an interview comes along that is so disastrous that it has to be commented upon. Today's joint appearance on Meet the Press by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates was just one of those occurrences.
3. US Allies With Al Qaeda In Libya
As we've noted over the past weeks, we know precious little about the alleged "rebels" on whose behalf we've intervened in Libya.
Now a little more information is available.
"In an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr al-Hasidi admitted that he had recruited "around 25? men from the Derna area in eastern Libya to fight against coalition troops in Iraq. Some of them, he said, are "today are on the front lines in Adjabiya"."
This is probably only a shock in the office of Samantha Power. Throughout the Iraq war Libya was the second leading source of foreign fighters and suicide bombers. That they should be driving the train on the insurrection in Libya should be unsurprising to anyone allowed to develop national policy. Should be, but apparently the Obama Administration's foreign policy - or domestic policy for that matter - is nothing more than a series of unpleasant surprises.
4. Arming Libyan Rebels
The Libyan operation would have nearly a comic opera quality were it not for the fact that people are needlessly getting killed because of the fecklessness of the Obama Administration. As we pointed out yesterday, our motive for going into Libya has absolutely nothing to do with establishing a less repressive regime, the rebels are happily engaged in the slaughter of their enemies and carrying on a campaign of ethnic cleansing to force black Africans from Libya, than with one particular twit, Samantha Power, trying to prove a particular academic version of BushLiedTM.
5. Proud DNC Affiliate, Reuters Describes The Libyan Coalition
"Obama is committed to partnering with other countries rather than going it alone as did his predecessor George W. Bush, which both broadens and complicates the decision-making process."
- Inner Party Truth-Organ, Reuters. (HT:New York Times)
Jeffrey Goldberg at The Atlantic read this purgative and quickly needed a lavatory in which to up-chuck. His nausea is understandable. His restraint in castigating such rampant dishonesty in the service of such a small and petty POTUS, was not as commendable as he thinks. This fraudulent garbage deserved a stronger, more virile rebuke. Goldberg offered the following "suggestion" to the proud media organ of The Democratic National Committee known as Reuters.
6. The Chicken & The Egg: London unions school Madison mobs on anarchy
Today, England's trade unions and their friends on the Left had a massive demonstration on the streets of London. It devolved into 'madness' as anarchists hijacked the demonstration, breaking in windows, assaulting police, and generally causing mayhem. Union leaders were not displeased.
7. Wisconsin GOP Investigates Illegal Political Activity, Makes the Left Angry
If there is a key difference between conservatives and liberals it is their view on the rule of law. Speaking in broad terms liberals believe that a person is not accountable for their actions if their cause is just or if they have the "right" background or the "right" politics. So not a peep is heard about the clown car that is the Ninth Circus but the left goes crazy about the benign appearances of Justices Scalia and Alito. Cass Sustein and Goodwin Liu can hold legal opinions that not only put them outside the mainstream of American jurisprudence but also on the fringe of American society and no one says boo. John Yoo, on the other hand, was excoriated for writing an opinion attempting to define "torture." Union thugs, the New Black Panther Party, and anti-globalization crazies should not be prosecuted. Tea parties, on the other hand, are dog whistle calls for anti-government violence and should be suppressed.
Probably no where is this attitude more on display than in academia. Case in point is the case of University of Wisconsin professor William Cronon, recently elected president of the American Historical Association and Democrat party hack.

What's a Dad to do?
Posted on March 25, 2011
So imagine you ask your high school daughter how school was today and she tells you about the teacher in health class making the following statements:
"Why are we following a Constitution that was drawn up 400 years ago by a bunch of rich, old white guys?"
"The Second Amendment has no place in today's society....Societies are always safer when the citizens do not have the right to bear arms."
"Socialized medicine provides better care for people....America just hasn't caught on yet."
"People are worried about how we are going to pay for this Health Care bill...We're just going to tax the rich; they don't need all that money anyhow."
"Doctors are in the business of keeping you sick...that's how they make their money."
At a minimum, you would want the teacher to stop. You may want the principal to "have a word" with him. This is a no-brainer, right?
Imagine this takes two years and no one pays any attention. What do you do? Take it to the school board. They tell you to sit down and shut up.
So you follow the rules and the board is confused as to how to deal with a parent talking about his child in one of their schools.
Thinking about running for a school board now?

The Obama Administration Calls for More Study of Iran's Human Rights Abuses by Anne Bayefsky, Fox News.
The Obama administration's U.N.-centered foreign policy reached new heights of incredulity today with the U.N. Human Rights Council adoption of a resolution on Iran. With the Obama team in Geneva at the center of it, the resolution calls for more study of the Iranian human rights record and the submission of a report one year from now.
Instead of blasting the ridiculous excuse for delaying serious action against a notorious regime currently engaged in heinous violations of human rights, the Obama administration actually masterminded the resolution.
Immediately following the resolution's adoption, U.S.-U.N. Ambassador to Geneva Eileen Donahoe held a news conference in which she declared "what we have just witnessed is a seminal moment for this body - the Human Rights Council - with the establishment of a Special Rapporteur on the human...

By Mordechai Kedar, The Center for the Study of Middle East and Islam
Above the tomb of Hafez al-Assad in the Alawi town of Qardaha is a sign with a verse from the Koran: "Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger and those charged with authority among you." "Those charged with authority" refers to the acting rulers, even if they do not rule by the grace of Islam. Not for naught was this verse chosen, as it is meant to lend Islamic justification even to a government of infidels. Since 1966, the Syrian regime has been in the hands of the small Alawi minority, considered by Islam to be infidels; its sons are not entitled to rule and, being idol worshippers, according to Islamic canon they do not even have the right to live.
Between 1976 and 1982, Islamic elements attempted to end Alawi rule, but the regime liquidated fifty thousand of them: twenty thousand in the Tadmor prison and another thirty thousand in Hama , which was subjected to heavy bombing that totally destroyed sections of...

To: Friends & Supporters
From: Gary L. Bauer
Egypt Falling To The Islamofascists
We warned about this when the crisis first erupted. We wondered whether the administration had any plan to make sure democratic forces prevailed. We criticized the media for staying in one place and ignoring what was happening in the rest of the country. Now, just eight weeks later, even the New York Times admits that the Muslim Brotherhood is calling the shots in Egypt.
In a front page story today, the Times reports: "The Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group once banned by the state, is at the forefront, transformed into a tacit partner with the military government that many fear will thwart fundamental changes. It is also clear that the young, educated secular activists who initially propelled the non-ideological revolution are no longer the driving political force..."
It may very well be that the democracy movement in Egypt peaked the moment that 200 men sexually assaulted CBS reporter Lara Logan, while yelling "Jew, Jew, Jew," as she covered the celebration in Tahrir Square that followed Hosni Mubarak's decision to step down.
The problem with this whole "democratization movement" is that we are dealing with people who are rooted in Islamic extremism. Don't take my word for it. Read what some Egyptian women had to endure during the demonstrations in Tahrir Square.
Egypt should serve as a cautionary tale for those in the West who think that our default position should be to support the revolutionaries in the Middle East.
The Obama Administration was eager to call on Mubarak to step down, despite obvious concerns that the Muslim Brotherhood could take over. We know Al Qaeda supports the uprising against Qadhafi. But as we saw in Gaza and now in Egypt, democracy does not always mean freedom.
Meanwhile, the boil that needs to be lanced in the Middle East is Iran. Yet, when protests took place there, Obama couldn't be bothered to speak up. And what is really disturbing, as you will read next, is that we are using our foreign policy failures as an excuse to force more concessions from Israel.
U.S. Warns Israel About Populism
Secretary of Defense Robert Gates arrived in Israel yesterday, bringing advice for the Israeli government from Barack Obama. His visit comes at a difficult time for Israel. In recent weeks, an Israeli family was brutally murdered in their beds by Palestinian thugs, rocket barrages were fired into Israel from Hamas-controlled Gaza, and a terrorist bomb exploded at a Jerusalem bus station.
A senior U.S. defense official briefed reporters ahead of the trip to explain exactly what wisdom Obama wants Gates to share with Israel. According to the official, who insisted on anonymity, Gates will tell Israeli leaders that they "have a very deep strategic interest in getting out in front of the wave of populism that's sweeping" the Middle East.
The U.S. official added, "There's some (in Israel) who...are kind of in a little bit of a defense crouch and a risk adverse posture as it related to the Middle East peace... I think our administration sees things a little differently."
The Obama Administration plumbs new depths of stupidity daily. "Populists" did not sever the head of the Israeli baby who was killed with her family a few weeks ago. "Populists" aren't lobbing rockets into Israeli cities and blowing up Israelis as they wait for a bus.
These things are done by the Islamists in Hamas, Hezbollah and their sympathizers who have dedicated themselves to the destruction of Israel. They are encouraged by regimes like the one in Iran whose leaders passionately want a second Holocaust. Just how is Israel supposed to get "out in front" of that wave?
A real populist uprising in Gaza and Judea/Samaria would be a wonderful thing. Such an uprising would target not Israel, but Hamas, Hezbollah and the Palestinian Authority, which have all shown, in spite of billions of our foreign aid dollars, incapable of creating jobs, educating their people or doing anything that normal governments are expected to do. The only things Palestinian leaders effectively produce are hatred for Jews and Christians and suicide bombers.
If I were Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, I would be tempted to put Secretary Gates back on his plane, and tell him to deliver his lectures about taking risks for peace somewhere else.
"The Professor's War"
As you know, I lack enthusiasm for this Libyan whatever is. And I'm not being sarcastic. Even liberal reporters are now mocking the administration's lack of specificity.
In today's Washington Post Karen Tumulty writes, "Of all the decisions that a president must make, none calls for more clarity than the one to go to war. Thus far, President Obama's move to join other nations in intervening militarily in Libya appears to have generated confusion instead... But on even the most basic question -- is this war? -- the White House has strained for an answer."
If it was intended to scare other tyrants in the Middle East or provide some stability, it isn't working. In fact, it seems to be fomenting unrest in Bahrain and other Arab states. If anything, the mission in Libya seems to be demonstrating the weakness of our current commander-in-chief.
For example, why would a U.S. president be so eager to prove that he's not in control? That is the message Obama is sending with his desperate attempts to hand over control of the mission to NATO, even though many NATO members don't want ownership of this endeavor.
Whether you support the mission or not, consider Charles Krauthammer's column today, entitled "The Professor's War." Krauthammer has a theory that explains Obama's behavior:
"The president is obsessed with pretending that we are not running the operation -- a dismaying expression of Obama's view that his country is so tainted by its various sins that it lacks the moral legitimacy to ... what? Save Third World people from massacre? ...
"Never modest about himself, Obama is supremely modest about his country. America should be merely 'one of the partners among many,' he said Monday. ... Even the Clinton administration spoke of America as the indispensable nation. And it remains so."
If your worldview tells you that America is generally not a force for good, and if you believe your mission is to "fundamentally transform" America, then it makes sense that America should not be in the lead.
Fox News reports that thousands of Christians in Ethiopia are fleeing their villages as Muslim mobs are torching churches and homes. Why am I confident that we won't be hearing Secretary of State Clinton or President Obama calling for a no-fly zone or humanitarian mission to protect Ethiopian Christians?
Fighting To Preserve Marriage
Please tune in to Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson on Monday, March 28th and Tuesday, March 29th. I will be a guest on Dr. Dobson's show, along with Tony Perkins, Dr. Ken Hutcherson, Pastor Jim Garlow and Bishop Harry Jackson. Our topic for both days is the fight to preserve traditional marriage.
This is an important battle, my friends. If the Defense of Marriage Act is struck down by the courts, the definition of marriage will be open to any and every interpretation imaginable. As I have often argued, the failure to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman will lead to polygamy and worse.
Every argument that is made in support of men "marrying" other men can and is being made to justify polygamy or the "love" of a father for his adult daughter. You can read more about that here.
Please do not miss Dr. Dobson's show next week. You can find station listings for Family Talk in your area here. Or you can listen live online here.
2012 Heating Up
The race for 2012 is heating up. This week former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty announced he was forming a presidential exploratory committee, and Rep. Michele Bachmann, also from Minnesota, confirmed plans to explore a run. Mitt Romney told donors he needs to raise $50 million for the primary campaign, and Donald Trump made a few headlines too.
Meanwhile, other prospective candidates have been signing up top-notch political pros. Newt Gingrich picked up a top strategist from Texas Gov. Rick Perry's staff, and Haley Barbour landed a key advisor to former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. The race is on!

Saudi Tanks Roll Where Obama Fears To Tread
By Claude Sandroff
Saudi Arabia is the last country an American should respect, having spawned fifteen of the nineteen 9-11 murderers and continuing to fund and spew hate-filled, anti-Western, anti-Semitic Wahhabi-inspired propaganda everywhere in the world. But however grudgingly, we must tip our hats to a country with a coherent foreign policy that uses its military -- unilaterally and unapologetically -- to defend its interests and allies against real or perceived threats. Hence we might almost applaud as Saudi tanks boldly rolled through the streets of Shia-dominated Bahrain to guard its Sunni monarch and staunch Saudi ally King al-Khalifa against potential overthrow by Iranian-backed street mobs. Behaving like a superpower concerned about its survival and willing to defend its friends, Saudi Arabia sent dozens of tanks via the King Fahd causeway into neighboring Bahrain. King al-Khalifa thanked the Saudis profusely, clearly unconcerned about the opinion of the international community as the Saudi contingent crossed into Bahrain without permission from the Arab League or the sanction from a UN Security Council plebiscite.

Here's an excellent summation by a Congressman from Texas of all the wonderful things we have to look forward to once we are forced by the Federal government to use only the new environmentally-"friendly" CFL light bulbs by 2014.

ACLU v. Religious Liberty
By J. Matt Barber
Irony is defined as "the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning." The term doublespeak means "evasive, ambiguous language that is intended to deceive or confuse." There is perhaps no greater example of ironic doublespeak than inclusion of the phrase "civil liberties" within the inapt designation: "American Civil Liberties Union." Indeed, few leftist organizations in existence today can compete with the ACLU in terms of demonstrated hostility toward what the Declaration of Independence describes as "certain unalienable rights" with which Americans are "endowed by their Creator."

A $5 billion handout to states, big corporations, and Hollywood unions to subsidize health insurance for early retirees is threatening to bankrupt a major part of the year-old healthcare reform law, according to staffers of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
A small percentage of the organizations signed up for the plan has already drained more than $500 million from the program's coffers.

Stop Teacher Strikes in Pennsylvania
THE FACTS
- Thirty-seven (37) states prohibit teacher strikes. Read the Allegheny Institute comparison of 50 states here. Additional source: NEA Media Relations Outreach Specialist, Jasmine Lyons (JLyons@nea.org) State Laws
- The vast majority of these 37 states (seen in the above link) do not forcibly resolve contract impasses by a fixed date. They rely on mutual agreement while prohibiting strikes. They take the principled position that children and taxpayers have a right to expect strike-free education from public money.
- Act 195 was passed in 1970 which gave teachers a near unlimited 'right to strike'.
- Act 88 (current law) was passed in 1992 to impose some restrictions on the teachers 'right to strike'. 180 academic days must be completed in the school year. Strikes can still last up to a month in duration, and can still occur year-after-year in a school district.
Pennsylvania is the "teacher strike capital" of the United States:

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen.
The debate about global warming has reached ridiculous proportions and is full of micro thin half-truths and misunderstandings. I am a scientist who was on the carbon gravy train, understands the evidence, was once an alarmist, but am now a skeptic. Watching this issue unfold has been amusing but, lately, worrying. This issue is tearing society apart, making fools and liars out of our politicians.

Dear Liberty Activist,
In the past, I've written of abuses by the TSA, including its belief that you check your 4th Amendment rights the moment you purchase a plane ticket.
The TSA's invasive screening tactics shame passengers into their potentially harmful porno scanners with the horrific thought of being groped by an agent if you refuse.
As it turns out, while conducting tests on the radiation levels of these scanners, a number of them were coming back with higher levels than expected. "It would appear that the emissions are 10 times higher. We understand it as a calculation error," TSA spokesman Sarah Horowitz told Wired.
A "calculation error." And yet, these are the people we are told are "keeping us safe?"
Nevertheless, without hesitation, the government continues to install these scanners in airports across the country.
If you thought virtual strip searches were a violation of your privacy, just wait until you hear the latest claim from the Department of Homeland Security.
During oral arguments in a lawsuit filed by EPIC (Electronic Privacy Information Center), the DHS counsel claimed they have authority to "strip search every air traveler. The agency also stated that it believed a mandatory strip search rule could be instituted without any public comment or rulemaking."
Have we given up enough of our liberties yet?
Just when you thought flying couldn't possibly get worse, union bosses are now trying to force union representation on TSA employees with a "vote" that is clearly stacked in the bosses' favor.
In other words, that creepy TSA agent that almost seemed to enjoy feeling up you and your child will now be virtually impossible to fire for inappropriate behavior.
From now on, security and passenger rights will play a secondary role to the union bosses' demands for "screener's rights."
Remember when House Transportation Committee Chairman John Mica claimed the solution to TSA abuses was for airports to "opt-out" of the TSA? Well, his "solution" turns out to be nothing more than a distraction to appease angry constituents. In reality, it rings hollower than Jimmy Hoffa's coffin.
The "private screeners" are required by law to follow the same screening procedures as the TSA; in other words, even if the airports opt-out, nothing will change except the names and faces.
The only viable solution here is to abolish the TSA. Since 9/11, blue-shirted, rubber-gloved government agents have not thwarted the major terrorist attempts on our airlines. In the real world, only alert passengers and flight crews stopped these attacks.
It's time to bring a halt to our government's security theater. When the government claims to have a monopoly on keeping us safe, the chances of average people slipping into apathy are higher.
Airlines have a responsibility to keep passengers protected and their planes safe and in the sky. After the TSA is abolished, we must return the responsibility for security to where it belongs - the private sector.
Please consider chipping in $10 to help Campaign for Liberty continue to spread the message about the abuse of the American people's civil liberties by the TSA.
Before the TSA becomes a protected, public-sector union unlikely to ever be downsized or replaced, the American people must demand swift action to reign in the unaccountable, rogue agency.
In Liberty,
 John Tate President
P.S. C4L must expand its efforts if you and I are to stop the TSA and its assault on civil liberties. If you're able, please chip in just $10 to help my staff and me recruit even more Americans to this fight

WOLF: Loudest Obamacare cheerleader wants out
New York's Rep. Anthony Weiner wants a 'get out of jail free' card

Becoming the most hypocritical politician in America is not an easy goal to achieve, but New York's Rep. Anthony Weiner, a Democrat, is up to the task.
Earlier this year, the Obama administration began rewarding its union friends and others with an escape from the clutches of Obamacare. Now one of the most outspoken Obamacare supporters - the man who actually said, "I wrote the bill ... the bill and I are one" wants his own "get out of jail free" card from this abominable law.

NumbersUSA Activists Take Advantage of Constituent Work Week
The House of Representatives held a Constituent Work Week this week, so it's been a bit quiet in Washington. But there's been lots of activity in their home districts.
We began the week with a focus on the 93 freshmen Members of the House. Seventeen freshmen hosted (or are hosting) Town Hall Meetings, and we've already had more than 100 activists attending meetings with more attending this weekend.
Our activists have been in Florida to see Rep. Steve Southerland, in South Carolina to see Reps. Tim Scott, Trey Gowdy, and Mick Mulvaney, in Illinois to see Rep. Randy Hultgren, and Oklahoma to see Rep. James Lankford.
We've also had activists visit Town Hall Meetings in Texas, New York, New Hampshire, and Arizona.
Our primary focus has been to educate the freshmen Members on the impact of high immigration levels on unemployed Americans. We received this report from one of our activists in Illinois:
The very first question asked [to Rep. Hultgren] was 'Do you support E-verify?'. His response was 'Yes'."
This is exactly the kind of interaction we're looking for! Rep. Hultgren was asked to take a position on one of our major issues and now we have him on the record as doing so!
The freshman class wasn't our only focus this week. We've also had activists dropping off Fact Sheets at the district offices of House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy.
There's a major recess over the last two weeks of April, and we'll be planning Local Education opportunities in most Congressional Districts. If you're interested in dropping off fact sheets, attending a Town Hall Meeting, or setting up a meeting with your Congressperson, contact us at stateaction2011@numbersusa.com or districtaction2011@numbersusa.com for more information.

Ariz. Voters Persuade Flake (running for Senate) To Turn Against Amnesty -- At Least For Now
By Roy Beck, Thursday, March 24, 2011
Much to the misery of the open-borders lobby, Arizona voters have transformed yet another pro-amnesty champion into a secure-borders-only candidate. Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) stunned his national pro-amnesty allies today in an Arizona Republic interview by saying that he has changed his mind about wanting "comprehensive immigration reform." After just a few weeks as an announced candidate to replace Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) when he retires next year, Flake found that being the best known pro-amnesty Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives was going to be a problem with Arizona voters.

Chamber of Commerce Victories in Utah & Ariz. Mean Nothing Compared With Supreme Court's E-Verify Decision That Still Is Pending
By Roy Beck, Tuesday, March 22, 2011
Regardless of what happens to the new Utah amnesty law and despite Arizona's recent decision not to pass further laws against illegal immigration, the most important decision remains to be made this spring. That would be the ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court on whether Arizona -- and, thus, any other state, county and city -- can order employers to use E-Verify to screen illegal aliens from jobs. Hamilton vs. Jefferson, on Welfare Reform
This column by Susan A. Carleson, CEO of the ACRU and the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) was published
March 25 on the American Thinker website.
With federal and state budgets exploding, welfare reform is once again on the menu.
Just about everyone agrees that the 1996 welfare reform was a huge success. By 2009, the number of dependent families had dropped by two-thirds, and federal spending for cash welfare assistance remained stable at $16.5 billion a year. But most importantly, the '96 reform gave dignity to millions by breaking the vicious cycle of multi-generational poverty.

Economic Lunacy
This column by ACRU Policy Board Member and Professor of Economics Dr. Walter E. Williams was published March 23 on Townhall.com.
Economic lunacy abounds, and often the most learned, including Nobel Laureates, are its primary victims. The most recent example of economic lunacy is found in a Huffington Post article titled "The Silver Lining of Japan's Quake" written by Nathan Gardels, editor of New Perspectives Quarterly, who has also written articles for The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, New York Times and Washington Post.
Mr. Gardels says, "No one -- least of all someone like myself who has experienced the existential terror of California's regular tremors and knows the big one is coming here next -- would minimize the grief, suffering and disruption caused by Japan's massive earthquake and tsunami. But if one can look past the devastation, there is a silver lining.

America's Accelerating Downward Spiral
This column by ACRU General Counsel and Policy Director for the CCPP Peter Ferrara was published March 23 on The American Spectator website.
For two years now, I have been arguing in this column and elsewhere that President Obama's economic policies were a throwback to the 1970s, and so were going to produce the same result as the 1970s -- the worsening cycles of inflation and recession known as stagflation. With last week's reports regarding the Producer Price Index and the Consumer Price Index, those results are now here.
But these developments are just several further spins in an accelerating downward spiral for America that leaves our traditional prosperity, high standard of living, and national security extremely vulnerable to three looming disasters, at least two of which are likely to happen within the reasonably near future.

Budget Nuclear Option: Shut Down Obama Until the Election
This column by ACRU General Counsel and Policy Director
for the CCPP Peter Ferrara was published March 21 on PajamasMedia.com.
The House Republican leadership needs to get over their paralyzing fear of a government shutdown, which is based on the liberal media narrative of the politics of the 1995 shutdown. That shutdown eventually transformed annual $200 billion deficits for more than a decade into $560 billion in budget surpluses over four years. That resulted because Clinton caved in to Republican budget cut demands, and even to Republican tax cuts that spurred the economy and long term revenue growth. The shutdown was followed by the first reelection of a Republican House majority in two thirds of a century, with the Republican Senate majority reelected as well.

Limbo in Libya
| Commander in chief? |
Consistent with his socialist, we-are-all-one agenda, Barack Obama used a non-unanimous 10-vote nod from the United Nations Security Council to justify commencing hostilities against Libya, bypassing Congress, the Constitution, the will of the American public and a couple hundred years' worth of precedents. Since none of these have mattered in the past, why should they now? After all, in the mind of Obama -- or "Our Son, His Excellency" as his erstwhile pal Moammar Gadhafi called him recently -- UN authority supersedes U.S. constitutional authority and sovereignty.
To be sure, a long list of reasons support America's desire to oust Gadhafi and his regime, especially his role in state-sponsored terrorism. It was Gadhafi that ordered the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, which killed 270, most of whom were Americans. That said, a number of countervailing arguments counsel against intervening in Libya's civil war with this, as Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes euphemistically put it, "kinetic military action." This description was later revised by Press Secretary Jay Carney to "time-limited, scope-limited" military action. That clears things up.
For one, it is a civil war. U.S. policy -- at least ostensibly -- has been to refrain from engaging in conflicts where U.S. vital national interests are not at stake. Whatever interests the U.S. has in Libya, the term "vital" certainly does not apply.
Second, as a sovereign nation, the U.S. neither seeks nor is granted authority from a supra-national organization such as the UN to use American instruments of national power, including military force. Such authority must vest from within, and in the U.S. that mechanism is the Constitution. While the president has both the authority and duty to use force in protection of the United States from an actual or imminent attack, that is the extent of his unilateral authority. Congress alone has the authority to approve the use of military force in all other circumstances as it did in the wake of 9/11. In the case of both Afghanistan and Iraq, President George W. Bush specifically approached Congress, asked for and was granted a resolution authorizing the use of military force. His successor -- not so much.
Next, we have no idea whether the regime that replaces Gadhafi (if that happens) will actually be a change for the better. While the words "democracy" and "freedom" are bandied about indiscriminately, no one knows what Libya will look like post-Gadhafi. In fact, the rebels are self-described Islamic "holy warriors" who have at least the verbal backing of al-Qa'ida. This fact alone should advocate for restraint.
Moreover, as America nears the tenth anniversary of 9/11, we should pause to reflect upon the fact that our nation has been at war continuously for almost a decade. Should we -- or can we even afford to -- embark on a third commitment of manpower and resources, much less one that is undefined and open-ended? Supposedly, no "boots on the ground" were to be committed, but as we go to press 2,200 Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit are stationed just off the Libyan coast. In the first few days of this conflict alone, we have already lost a plane and spent hundreds of Tomahawk missiles -- are we prepared to commit to this effort to the point that we're willing to sacrifice American lives as well?
In 2007, both Barack Obama and his levelheaded sidekick Joe Biden believed that the president's authority to use military force is limited to repelling an imminent or ongoing attack on the U.S., and that Congress alone has the authority to authorize the use of military force in all other circumstances. "The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation," said Barack Obama then. Likewise, Joe Biden chimed in, "I made it clear to the president that if he takes this nation to war without congressional approval, I will make it my business to impeach him. That is a fact."
These claims were made when they were "Candidate Obama" and "Senator Biden," respectively -- that is, before either decided that their heartfelt words on the campaign trail or a TV talk show were never meant to be applied to themselves at some future point.
Finally, it's worth highlighting how utterly disagreeable is the military operation label "Odyssey Dawn." An odyssey is a very long, convoluted saga -- not an event wrapped up in a few days, as this effort has been promoted, thus far. We're hoping that the Pentagon has a good sense of humor and irony. Otherwise and unwittingly, it may have aptly coined the beginning of yet another endless military journey. It might be nice to rid the world of Moammar Gadhafi. But before we commit American lives and resources toward doing so, shouldn't we first pause to ask the question: At what cost?

News From the Swamp: CBO Ups Deficit Estimates
The Congressional Budget Office released a report analyzing Barack Obama's 2012 budget proposal, and its findings further confirm that the president is not at all serious about controlling spending. We pause now to allow recovery from this shocking revelation.
CBO's accounting indicates that Obama's budget proposal will result in $1.43 trillion in deficits for fiscal 2012, and $1.16 trillion for fiscal 2011. Total spending would increase 57 percent over the next decade, from $3.7 trillion to $5.8 trillion, double the national debt to more than $20 trillion in that same time frame, and raise the debt to an overwhelming 87 percent share of annual U.S. economic output.
The report also notes that the president's budget will actually increase deficits by 23 percent over the next 10 years, not reduce them as the White House claims. The administration's response to the CBO report is to quibble that the 10-year deficit would go up by only $7 trillion, not the $9 trillion that CBO claims. If that's the best argument Team Obama has for their budget proposal, then they really don't have an argument. The real need is to tackle entitlements and make substantive cuts in spending. Obama's plan does neither. It actually pretends that our fiscal woes don't even exist.
This Week's 'Alpha Jackass' Award
"[T]here was this attitude in our society of blaming the victim. When a woman got raped, blame her because she was wearing a skirt too short, she looked the wrong way or she wasn't home in time to make the dinner. We've gotten by that, but it's amazing how these Republicans, the right wing of this party -- whose philosophy threw us into this God-awful hole we're in, gave us the tremendous deficit we've inherited -- that they're now using, now attempting to use, the very economic condition they have created to blame the victim -- whether it's organized labor or ordinary middle-class working men and women. It's bizarre. It's bizarre." --Joe Biden with a bizarre comparison of the GOP to rape apologists
Hope 'n' Change: ObamaCare Turns One
ObamaCare turned one year old this week, and the law that supporters believed would grow to become more popular over time is now more loathed than ever. Major court decisions have bolstered the case that the constitutionality of the law is questionable, but until the Supreme Court delivers the final verdict, the administration will continue to implement the law en bloc.
Supporters say that seniors are the major beneficiaries, though significantly greater physician reporting requirements will rob doctors' time and resources from patient treatment. Additionally, government mandates will steer physicians into specific courses of care and treatment that will narrow patient choices for crafting their own care, and not always for the better. The doctor-patient relationship as we know it will be obliterated in favor of a bloated, faceless bureaucracy that makes medical decisions based upon its own skewed perceptions of what is necessary and not.
Another supposed beneficiary of ObamaCare is American business, but compliance costs necessary to meet increased reporting requirements will cause a substantial drain on business resources. In addition, $500 billion in new taxes will hit hardest the businesses that are struggling in this rocky economy. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that small business tax credits to offset this burden will benefit only some 12 percent of people in the small-group insurance market. Furthermore, CBO estimates the 10-year cost of ObamaCare at $1.45 trillion, $40 billion higher than what it figured last year. Meanwhile, few actions have even been taken with the law yet, except to offer more than 1,000 exemptions to businesses, unions and even entire states that can't -- or don't want to -- meet its requirements. Happy birthday, indeed.
From the Left: More Delay in Enacting Wisconsin Labor Law
Dane County, Wisconsin, Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi put her stamp on the delaying tactic started by Secretary of State Doug LaFollette when he opted to take the full 10 days to publish the state's new labor law. By placing an injunction on LaFollette's publishing the law, Judge Sumi provided yet more time for local governments and unions to "improve" new contract terms. Compounding the problem, Judge Sumi is conveniently on vacation through March 28.
The injunction was issued at the request of a Dane County (which includes the city of Madison) district attorney who claimed the passage of the legislation was done at the expense of the state's open meetings law. However, there are two options for getting the law published: Lawmakers can re-enact the bill, or the state Supreme Court can overrule Judge Sumi. In any case, the proceedings continue to prove that Democrats will spare no expense to protect their own.

The Senate will vote NEXT WEEK on stopping the EPA's global warming power grab. Call Senator Casey and tell him to VOTE YES on the McConnell Amendment.
President Obama's cap-and-trade energy tax - designed, according to Obama himself, to make electricity prices "necessarily skyrocket" - went down in flames in the Senate last year and was emphatically buried in the midterm elections. Unfortunately, the day after the election, Obama said: "Cap and trade was just one way of skinning the cat; it was not the only way. It was a means, not an end."
Obama's budget for the EPA showed what he meant: "The Administration continues to support greenhouse gas emissions reductions in the United States in the range of 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020 and 83 percent by 2050."
Obama is telling the EPA to just pretend the cap-and-trade bill passed and regulate away! The regulations will cost the economy trillions but do nothing to improve the environment. Fortunately, the Senate is slated to vote on stopping the EPA when they return from this week's recess. It will take 60 votes, and Senator Casey could hold the key to success.
Call Senator Casey at (202) 224-6324. Click here to let us know how the call went.
Couldn't get through? Click here to e-mail Senator Casey and tell him to VOTE YES on the McConnell Amendment to Stop the EPA.
The Senate will also vote on one, and possibly two different sham amendments that pretend to stop the EPA but actually rubber stamp their power grab and allow them to move forward with global warming regulations. The Baucus Amendment literally codifies the EPA's regulations, giving them congressional approval and undermining legal challenges - it's worse than doing nothing. The Rockefeller Amendment pretends to delay the regulations for two years, but will only create more confusion and delay investments because states will be allowed to regulate.

Philadelphia Republican City Committee overwhelmingly endorses a Democrat for Mayor.
GOP endorses Brown for Phila. mayor
By Miriam Hill and Robert Moran
Inquirer Staff WritersFri, Mar. 25, 2011
She probably will never be the city's first female mayor, but Karen Brown does seem to have achieved a different first.
By winning the endorsement of the city's Republican ward leaders Thursday night, Brown becomes the first woman endorsed for mayor by a major Philadelphia political party.
"It's amazing to me," Brown said of winning the endorsement during the meeting at the United Republican Club.
"I have to believe it's a first," said Zack Stalberg, head of the watchdog group Committee of Seventy. "And I can't think of more unusual circumstances."
The unusual circumstance is that until a few weeks ago, Brown was a Democrat running for City Council. Frustrated with her own party, she switched to the GOP and nabbed that party's mayoral endorsement.
Brown said she intends to campaign for job creation and better schools.
She also said she opposes the closing of firehouses.
"These services should never be cut," she said.
Brown, 49, is a former Catholic schoolteacher. She told the Committee of Seventy that she has graduate and undergraduate degrees in business from Gwynedd-Mercy College. She has three adult children and is married to an official for the Transport Workers' Union AFL-CIO Local 234.
Her only rival for the Republican City Committee mayoral endorsement was John Featherman, 46, a Philadelphia real estate agent.
Brown got 34 votes to seven for Featherman, with 17 abstentions.
Brown said previously that she had the backing of party leaders Michael Meehan and Vito Canuso, though it was unknown Thursday night how they voted.
Featherman has criticized Meehan and Canuso for what he says is their lack of leadership. He said he plans to stay on the ballot and put up a good fight.
"They know I represent ousting them and putting in new leadership," Featherman said.
The winner of the May 17 primary will likely face Mayor Nutter, whose only opposition is Milton Street, brother of the former mayor, in the November general election. With Democrats outnumbering Republicans in Philadelphia by more than 6-1, a GOP upset in November is highly unlikely.

"In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a brave and scarce man, hated and scorned. When the cause succeeds, however, the timid join him...for
then it costs nothing to be a patriot."

GE's strategies let it avoid taxes all together
It's great to be GE
General Electric, the nation's largest corporation, had a very good year in 2010.
The company reported worldwide profits of $14.2 billion, and said $5.1 billion of the total came from its operations in the United States.
Its American tax bill? None. In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion.

CBO: Taxing mileage a 'practical option' for revenue enhancement
Taxing you on miles driven
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) this week released a report that said taxing people based on how many miles they drive is a possible option for raising new revenues and that these taxes could be used to offset the costs of highway maintenance at a time when federal funds are short.
The report discussed the proposal in great detail, including the development of technology that would allow total vehicle miles traveled (VMT) to be tracked, reported and taxed, as well as the pros and cons of mandating the installation of this technology in all vehicles.

NAACP president: Van Jones a misunderstood treasure
We must have all been wrong about him
Van Jones is an American treasure.
He is quite simply one of the few Americans in recent years to have generated powerful new ideas that are creating more jobs here.
He wrote the national bestseller, "The Green Collar Economy," which provided the definitive blueprint for retooling American industry to create pathways out of poverty and generate a national economic recovery. He was a driving force behind passage of the 2007 Green Jobs Act. In fact, Van's ideas have helped lead to the creation of tens of thousands of jobs across the industrial Midwest and throughout the nation's decaying urban and rural areas.

San Francisco becoming a child-free zone as youth population declines
Shock: gay-abortion central suffers population decline
Despite efforts to stem the tide of family flight, the population of children in San Francisco continues to ebb.
Families that remain in The City are bucking the trend that has plagued San Francisco for years as the number of children - defined as people up to 17 years old - has dropped from 181,532 in 1960 to 107,524 today, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau figures. The 2000 census counted 112,802 youths.

Wind, solar becoming cost competetive: Chu More money thrown at alternative energy
Clean sources of energy such as wind and solar will be no more expensive than oil and gas projects by the end of the decade, US Energy Secretary Steven Chu said Wednesday.
President Barack Obama's administration has been encouraging companies to invest in green growth, calling it a new source of jobs and fearing that other nations -- led by China -- are stealing the march.

Few Americans see Obama as strong military leader
Not up there with FDR and Truman
Only 17 percent of Americans see President Barack Obama as a strong and decisive military leader, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll taken after the United States and its allies began bombing Libya.
Nearly half of those polled view Obama as a cautious and consultative commander-in-chief and more than a third see him as indecisive in military matters.

WWII vet discovers he's not a U.S. citizen
Let's see Janet Napolitano deport this guy
Ninety-five-year-old Leeland Davidson discovered recently that he's not considered a U.S. citizen, despite living nearly 100 years in the country and serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Davidson, from Centralia, Washington, told KOMO News that he discovered he wasn't a U.S. citizen when he was turned down for an enhanced driver's license he needed for a trip to Canada to visit relatives.
"We always figured because he was born to U.S. parents he's automatically a U.S. citizen," said Davidson's daughter, Rose Schoolcraft.

Half of 'earmark' spending untouched in GOP bills
GOP balks on earmarks
House Republicans who crafted two short-term spending bills made $5.3 billion in cuts by going after some of Washington's least popular spending: those congressional pet projects known as "earmarks."
Even so, a congressional report shows they left $4.8 billion in earmarks untouched - and critics of congressional pork say they should go after it.

Slaughter a liberal sacred cow:
Explain that China's "genocide" in Tibet is a liberal myth, eagerly stoked by the exiled Dalai Lama (who has no vested interests, right?) and funded in the 1950s by the CIA as part of a campaign to discredit the Communist Chinese. Most of the Tibetan monasteries were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution by young native Tibetan Communists convinced that religion had inhibited Tibet's modernization. Stories about mass killings turn out, on close scrutiny, to be entirely fictitious. Conclude this mini-history lesson by asking: "Anyway, what's your problem? You're a liberal. You LIKE Commies!"
Conservative history:
Describe how, contrary to cozy liberal myth, the great FDR managed to prolong the Great Depression by seven years. Research by UCLA economists Harold L. Cole and Lee E. Ohanian has shown that the anti-competition and pro-labor measures Roosevelt signed into law as part of his New Deal stalled what could have been a "beautiful recovery."

NYT accidentally proves Glenn right... again

Oh, and it turns out the police for the press billed as democracy lovers are conducting virginity tests and torturing innocents. That's democracy for ya! Get Glenn's reaction on radio today.
Wayne LaPierre interview

LaPierre made a stunning claim that the government allowed massive gun smuggling across the southern border as part of an attempt to give the Obama administration an opportunity to crack down on the gun 'problem'. Check out the full interview and the rest of the claims HERE.

Red Eye has a hilarious response to this story which can be seen via The Blaze.

His current mission is to disprove the Big Bang theory. Get the full story from The Blaze.
