Quote:
"It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work -- work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. This Administration's objective will be a healthy, vigorous, growing economy. "
~ Ronald Reagan, from his first inaugural address, January 20, 1981

Dear Patriot,
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
St. Patrick's Day is a long-standing international and American holiday; a celebration of the most recognized patron saint of Ireland. In the United States, the holiday actually began on March 17, 1762, with Irish soldiers serving in the English military marching in downtown New York City. Since that time, the date has evolved as recognition of the roughly 36 million Americans claiming Irish lineage and their contribution to our Republic and its collective European core ancestry.
Our nation has also evolved a great deal over our short time of 235 years. Here at the Thomas Jefferson Club, a portion of our mission statement reads...
"WE BELIEVE the United States is a highly successful Republic because of the Western Culture and Values upon which our nation was founded."
A culture drives a nation. And every nation has a right to national self-determination. The United States is no different. So the subject for our next meeting, Wednesday, April 6th, is...
"Which Way Western Man?"
To discuss this subject we have two excellent presenters who will address this question with facts, figures and solutions.
First up we will host Peter Brimelow, author of the national best-seller, "Alien Nation: Common Sense About America's Immigration Disaster" and Editor of VDare.com. Our second speaker will be Louis March, author of, "Immigration and the End of Self Government" and Chairman of the Representative Government Education Foundation. Mr. March is a former senior staffer of Senator Jesse Helms.
Please join us Wednesday, April 6th, 7pm at The Temperance House in Newtown. **PLEASE NOTE OUR CHANGE OF VENUE DUE TO WASHINGTON XING INN'S RENOVATIONS** The Temperance House is located at 5 South State Street in Newtown, Bucks County.
I look forward to seeing you on April 6th in Newtown!
All the best,
Jeff McGeary

The Not So Dismal Science: Humanitarians v. Economists
William McGurn The following is adapted from a speech delivered at Hillsdale College on March 3, 2011, during the author's two-week teaching residency as a distinguished visiting fellow in speech and journalism.
is a vice president for News Corporation and writes the weekly "Main Street" column for The Wall Street Journal. From 2005 to 2008, he served as chief speechwriter for President George W. Bush. Prior to that he was the chief editorial writer for The Wall Street Journal and spent more than ten years in Europe and Asia for Dow Jones. He has written for a wide variety of publications, including Esquire, the Washington Post, the Spectator of London and the National Catholic Register. He holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in communications from Boston University, and currently serves on the boards of Notre Dame's Center for Ethics and Culture and the website Ricochet.com.
THIS EVENING I PROPOSE to take on one of the greatest libels in the English language: the description of economics as "the dismal science." I hold a different view-that when it comes to seeing the potential in even the most desperate citizens of this earth, our economists, business leaders, and champions of a commercial republic are often far ahead of our progressives, artists, and humanitarians. And therein lies my tale.

Call Your Congressmen Now
Yesterday, Richard Fisher, president of the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank, warned that the United States was approaching bankruptcy. "If we continue down on the path on which the fiscal authorities put us, we will become insolvent," Fisher said. "The question is when. ...I look at this as a tipping point."
A coalition of fiscally conservative and socially conservative groups is putting pressure on members of Congress to get serious about cutting the budget. Congress must set priorities for our limited tax dollars. We are asking congressmen to do just that, and to start by defunding Planned Parenthood, America's largest abortion business.
Americans are overwhelmingly opposed to having their hard-earned tax dollars used to subsidize abortions. It is a bad idea even in good economic times. But these are not good economic times. With annual deficits of $1.5 trillion, America is in a fiscal crisis. Now is the time to make your voice heard.
Members of Congress are back home this week for a district work period. Call your representative and senators at their district and state offices today. Tell them that you don't your tax dollars subsidizing the abortion industry. Use our online Congressional Directory to find local contact information for your members of Congress. Please call today! For more information, watch this brief video from Lila Rose, who recently exposed Planned Parenthood's willingness to cover up child sex trafficking.
Coalition Crackup
It must be hard to be president. Just look at the world Barack Obama has to deal with. Consider these headlines from the foreign media:
"Tensions With Britain As Gates Rebukes U.K. Government Over Suggestion Gaddafi Could Be Assassinated"
"French Propose A New Political 'Committee' To Oversee Operations"
"Germany Pulls Equipment Out Of NATO Coalition Over Disagreement Over Campaign's Direction"
"U.K. Ministers Say War Could Last '30 Years'"
"Italy To 'Take Back Control' Of Bases Used By Allies Unless NATO Leadership Put In Charge Of The Mission"
After reluctantly engaging U.S. forces in Libya, President Obama said this week that the United States will turn over control of the mission in Libya "within days" to NATO. But several NATO members are refusing to go along, and without U.S. leadership Obama's "coalition of the unwilling" is cracking up. The conclusion from these headlines is inescapable: As long as Obama is in the White House, world leaders can't rely on America.
We were told that Obama, with his post-American worldview, would restore sanity to our foreign policy after eight disastrous years of that cowboy Bush. Obama was loved overseas. Remember the adoring crowds in Berlin?
It has been noted that Bush had twice as many coalition partners for the war in Iraq than Obama put together for this "humanitarian" mission in Libya. And Bush's coalition held together for more than a few days.
Escalating Violence Against Israel
I recently told you about the brutal murders of five members of a Jewish family in Samaria. Since then, dozens of mortar shells and rockets have been launched at Israeli civilians from Gaza. Today, a bomb exploded at a Jerusalem bus station, killing a 60 year-old woman and wounding 39 others.
Has anyone else noticed the irony that as we are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to help rebels in Libya, even though we don't know if they are on our side, we are sending hundreds of millions of dollars to an enemy that is attacking Israel, our only reliable ally in the Middle East?
Is Hajj Now A Civil Right?
The front page of today's Washington Post features an unbelievable account of just how far the Obama Administration will go to appease Muslims. The Justice Department is suing the small Chicago suburb of Berkeley, Illinois, for religious discrimination because the town denied the request of a Muslim teacher to take three weeks off for the hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
Here are some of the facts of the case: Safoorah Khan had been on the job for only nine months and was the school district's only math lab instructor. Khan's request for three weeks off came at the crucial end-of-semester testing period. Under these circumstances, school officials denied the request. Khan quit her job and went anyway. Now the Obama Justice Department is suing, claiming that the small town violated Khan's civil rights.
Does anyone think the Justice Department would intervene if a Jew asked for three weeks off to visit Jerusalem or if a Christian wanted three weeks off to visit the Vatican? Of course not. But the same Justice Department that will not defend normal marriage evidently thinks the hajj is a civil right whenever a Muslim demands to take it.
Believe it or not, even the Washington Post seemed incredulous, writing, "As the case moves forward in federal court in Chicago, it has triggered debate over whether the Justice Department was following a purely legal path or whether suing on Khan's behalf was part of a broader Obama administration campaign to reach out to Muslims." From the New Black Panther case to its abandonment of the Defense of Marriage Act, this is just more evidence that Obama's Justice Department has been hijacked by political hacks.
ACTION ITEM: Contact the Justice Department and tell it to stop accommodating special interest groups. You can call the Department's comment line at 202-353-1555 or click this link to send an email.
And here's more evidence that the Democrat Party is in the tank for Muslims: In protest of Rep. Peter King's (R-NY) hearings on Muslim radicalization, Senate Democrats led by Dick Durbin (IL) will hold hearings to examine the so-called "spike in anti-Muslim bigotry in the last year." Durbin is a good choice to lead these hearings. You may recall that he once compared our military police at GITMO to Nazis.
ObamaCare's First Anniversary -- Unpopular As Ever
It was on this day in 2010 that President Obama signed his socialized medicine scheme into law. It was overwhelmingly unpopular then, but as Nancy Pelosi famously said, "We have to pass the bill to find out what's in it." Liberals tried to comfort themselves in the belief that over time we would grow to love it. It hasn't worked out that way.
In fact, according to a CNN poll released today, ObamaCare has lost support. In March 2010, 59% of Americans opposed ObamaCare, while 39% supported it. Today, 59% of American still oppose ObamaCare, but just 37% support it.
You can include the CEO of Starbucks to the growing list of the disenchanted. Howard Schultz recently told the Seattle Times, "I was very supportive of the president's plan... [But] I think as the bill is currently written and if it was going to land in 2014 under the current guidelines, the pressure on small businesses, because of the mandate, is too great."
Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican Party, has an excellent op-ed today outlining ObamaCare's major faults. But with Harry Reid still Senate Majority Leader and Barack Obama in the White House, not much is going to change.
That is why Priebus concludes his column by writing: "Today is a reminder that we need to redouble our efforts over the next two years to retake the Senate and elect a Republican president so we can repeal this job-destroying law once and for all." I couldn't agree more.

"[I]t need not be observed that there are pretended as well as just causes of war." --John Jay
Editorial Exegesis

Obama's goal in Libya: Stalemate
"The expectation of the world's lone superpower in a major military operation is 'stalemate.' Welcome to the era of the Obama 'smart war.' Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen has been warning that he is unclear of the 'endgame,' as the Daily Telegraph describes it, in Libya. The outcome of Operation Odyssey Dawn is 'very uncertain' and could end up as a stalemate that keeps Col. Moammar Gadhafi in power. Appearing Sunday on NBC's 'Meet the Press,' Mullen said U.S. force will mean that Gadhafi is 'going to have to make some choices about his own future.' Sounds like we're sending Dr. Phil over to Tripoli to give the longtime tyrant some tough love. ... The president says our military operations were 'authorized' by the U.N. Security Council and the Arab League. He didn't give the U.S. Congress -- the Constitution's authorizers -- even one of those bows he likes to perform in the presence of foreign gentry. Is one of the purposes of Operation Odyssey Dawn to illustrate the New Multilateralism -- i.e., a Change-We-Can-Believe-In U.S. foreign policy in which we never shoot until the U.N. Security Council gives permission? ... Libya seems to be 'a war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics,' as Obama said of Iraq. We've seen that passion on the covers of tabloid newspapers with Navy-released photos of Tomahawk cruise missiles and headlines like 'Take That!' As for the politics, it certainly would be convenient for the president to be able play the hawk as the 2012 election approaches." --Investor's Business Daily
Upright
"At once presumptuous and flippant, President Obama used a Saturday audio recording from Brazil to inform Americans he had authorized a third war -- a war in which America's role is unclear and the stated objectives are muddled. Setting aside the wisdom of the intervention, Obama's entry into Libya's civil war is troubling on at least five counts. First is the legal and constitutional question. Second is the manner of Obama's announcement. Third is the complete disregard for public opinion and lack of debate. Fourth is the unclear role the United States will play in this coalition. Fifth is the lack of a clear endgame. Compounding all these problems is the lack of trust created by Obama's record of deception." --columnist Timothy P. Carney
"So in the eleventh hour we have decided to bomb Libya. What is the mission? What are our objectives? The public is in the dark. Barely anyone has mentioned how Congress hasn't debated or authorized any of this. Secretary of State Clinton is reportedly furious with the administration's dithering. Vice President Biden, the purported foreign policy expert, is missing in action. And President Obama is away touring South America. The whole scene is very strange and a bit surreal. We have stumbled into war and it feels as though the intervention is both belated and haphazardly rushed at the same time." --columnist N. M. Guariglia
"Hourly cost of whatever it is we're doing in Libya: about $4 million. Total cost of building one mile of border fence, as undertaken by our horribly inefficient, bloated, largely incompetent federal government: about $2 million. So, every 30 minutes we're in Libya is one mile of border fence we could have built: Assuming the mission is accomplished in each case, which investment would make us safer?" --columnist Kevin D. Williamson
"If it weren't so sad, this story from the Washington Times would be too funny. It seems that money from President Obama's $862,000,000,000 'stimulus' bill of two years ago has been spent to upgrade the Wilmington, Del., AMTRAK station. Vice President Biden lobbied personally, we read, to get the funding for the station he has famously used ever since he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1972. Now, AMTRAK, grateful for his support, has all on its own initiative decided to name the spruced-up station the Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. AMTRAK station. Well, we all wanted to know who would replace the late, beloved Robert Byrd of West Virginia as the king of pork. Now we know." --columnist Ken Blackwell
"In the past, obstacles, even failures, have been viewed by Americans as an opportunity to excel, as a chance to overcome and to gain the advantage by learning from mistakes and making a better product or service. ... What the nation lacks is a leader capable of summoning the nation's abilities. So far, all we seem to be getting is the thin gruel of defeatism that urges us to abandon hope, because the problems are just too hard. I, for one, am sick of it. We are a great people, capable of great sacrifices and great accomplishments. If only President Obama would believe it too." --columnist Lurita Doan

The Demo-gogues
What leadership: "[It's] very easy to square our military actions and our stated policies [on Moammar Gadhafi's regime]. ... We can't simply stand by with empty words. We have to take some sort of action." --Barack Obama, who until following the UN on air strikes basically stood by with empty words
"With respect to initiating this [Libya military] action while I was abroad, keep in mind that we were working on very short timeframes, and we had done all the work, and it was just a matter of seeing how Gadhafi would react to the warning that I issued on Friday. He, despite words to the contrary, was continuing to act aggressively towards his civilians. ... But, when it comes to our military action, we are doing so in support of UN Security [Council] resolution 1973, that specifically talks about humanitarian efforts, and we are going to make sure that we stick to that mandate." --Barack Obama
"Never let a good crisis go to waste": "Well, we're in Libya because of oil. And I think both Japan and the nuclear technology and Libya and this dependence that we have upon imported oil have both once again highlighted the need for the United States to have a renewable energy agenda going forward." --congressman Ed Markey (D-MA)
Tooting his own horn: "We have made extraordinary progress over these last two years. When you look back at the track record of work that we've done over the last two years, I think it's fair to say the promise we made to the American people has been kept, that we have delivered in change that we can believe in. ... There are times where Michelle reminds me that I volunteered for this job. Because she looks at me and I looked tired. But I'm telling you, I am having an extraordinary time, because there aren't many moments in our lives where we know that we're making a difference. And this is one of those moments." --Barack Obama
"When a woman got raped, blame her because she was wearing a skirt too short, she looked the wrong way or she wasn't home in time to make the dinner. We've gotten by that. But it's amazing how these Republicans, the right wing of this party -- whose philosophy threw us into this God-awful hole we're in, gave us the tremendous deficit we've inherited -- that they're now using, now attempting to use, the very economic condition they have created to blame the victim -- whether it's organized labor or ordinary middle-class working men and women. It's bizarre. It's bizarre." --Joe Biden
"The only people who have the capacity -- organizational capacity and muscle -- to keep, as they say, the barbarians from the gate, is organized labor. And make no mistake about it, the guys on the other team get it. They know if they cripple labor, the gate is open, man. The gate is wide open. And we know that too."--Joe Biden
Insight
"The unions might be good for the people who are in the unions but it doesn't do a thing for the people who are unemployed. Because the union keeps down the number of jobs, it doesn't do a thing for them." --economist Milton Friedman (1912-2006)

Dezinformatsia
Adversarial press: "Susan Rice did a remarkable job at the UN. No one could have predicted, even critics of the policy could not predict such a muscular resolution being approved and the abstensions from Russia and China. This came much faster than anyone expected. And came with some very adept diplomacy. ... The problem that the president has in projecting American values is that he first of all believes in a a multi-lateralist policy. Now on that score he has really accomplished that. This was pretty remarkable -- bringing this whole coalition together and getting the Arab League." --NBC's Andrea Mitchell
The shoe is on the other foot: "This is the hand he's been dealt by history, he's a reluctant warrior, it's not as if he's converted to being a cowboy so people recognize the difference between him and former president Bush." --MSNBC's Jonathan Alter
Ya think? "I've just got a question for the group ... I just wonder about the optics here, maybe this is too critical because things have to go on, the country has to function. But the president doing his brackets yesterday, and then going to a fundraiser -- would we be more critical if this was George W. Bush?" --MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski
Speaking truth to power: "Obama played grand tourist. ... The president's sightseeing Sunday was sure to endear him even more to a diverse and multicultural country where his personal story already makes him popular." --AP's Jim Kuhnhenn

Advice: "I warn my brother [Obama], don't you let these wicked demons move you in a direction that will absolutely ruin your future with your people in Africa and throughout the Arab world. ... Mister Obama why are we in Libya? And other questions the media won't ask
Mar 23, 2011 06:13 am | Coach Collins
By Kevin "Coach" Collins
"Why we are in Libya?" This is one of those mysteries we have become accustomed to since the start of Obama Administration. Not having any experience save for that of the nebulous "community organizer" when forced to make decisions Obama has proved a dismal failure. Taking actual decisive action causes Obama to flail around swinging wildly like a child trying to break open a pińata.
Now he has unilaterally decided to plunge us into an undeclared war against Libya's Muammar Gaddafi begging the question: why Mister Obama, why did you declare war without bringing your case before Congress? Doers the word "quagmire" ring a bell?
Did I miss the 17 United Nations resolutions on Libya and the way Gaddafi treats his people? If not, then why are we at war with Libya?
Is this a war for oil? If so why not just drill within our own borders and save the lives, treasure and national prestige that will ... Continue Reading:Mister Obama why are we in Libya? And other questions the media won't ask

We CAN win in 2012, but it's not going to be easy...
Unlike a lot of patriots, I've been of the opinion that defeating Barack Obama in 2012 is going to be virtually impossible. I didn't say impossible, but virtually... or pretty darn close to it.
Yes, we all know he is corrupt, lacks transparency, lies on a regular basis, tramples the Constitution, props up the radical Islamic agenda and pretty much ignores the rights and liberty of America in getting his goals accomplished. But here is the kicker...
We knew that in 2007-08 as well.

Justice Department sues on behalf of Muslim teacher, triggering debate
He attributed the criticism of the lawsuit, in part, to "anti-Muslim hostility."
Federal intervention
In November 2008, Khan filed a religious discrimination charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and last year, the commission found cause for discrimination and referred the case to the Justice Department.
Justice lawyers sued in December, the first lawsuit in a pilot project to increase coordination on employment discrimination between the department's Civil Rights Division and the EEOC.
The suit argued that the district violated the Civil Rights Act by failing to accommodate Khan's religious beliefs. By "compelling" Khan to choose between her job and religion, the lawsuit says, the district forced her discharge. The government is seeking back pay, damages and reinstatement for Khan, and a court order requiring Berkeley schools to find ways to accommodate religious practices.

Education Spending Has a Simple Solution by Phyllis Schaffly
As the new Republican House majority wrestles with ways to cut our unsustainable budget deficit, Barack Obama threw down the gauntlet. On March 14, he said, "We cannot cut education."
But why not? If we are going to cut programs that are proven to have failed to achieve their goals, federal spending on education should be at the top of the list.

Feminism Has Become A Hot Topic
The liberals have unjustly blamed Sarah Palin for many things, but there's one thing for which she is probably responsible: making feminism the hot topic that it has become today. Every couple of years Time and Newsweek ask "Is Feminism Dead?", but all of a sudden feminism is being discussed and debated in the MSM.
Feminists have been weighing in to dictate their definition of feminism. Modern feminist Jessica Valenti defined it authoritatively in the Washington Post: "Feminism is a structural analysis of a world that oppresses women, an ideology based on the notion that patriarchy exists and that it needs to end."
Picturing women as the victims of mean men is the engine of feminism. The feminists' legislative agenda, from unilateral divorce in the 1960s, to the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s, to taxpayer-financed daycare in the 1980s, to the Violence Against Women Act in the 1990s, to the Paycheck Fairness Act in the 2000s, is always wrapped in whines about alleged discrimination.

Economic Lunacy
By Walter E. Williams
3/23/2011
Economic lunacy abounds, and often the most learned, including Nobel Laureates, are its primary victims. Sen. Kapanke is target of threats, vandalism More union thugging
Sen. Dan Kapanke has canceled upcoming district meetings after being the target of threats and vandalism. Rose Smyrski, Kapanke's chief of staff, said the senator's car window was smashed in Madison, and his wife found nails scattered in the driveway of their French Island home.
He also received death threats.

100 years after Triangle fire, horror resonates
Labor movement trying to stir emotions
It was a warm spring Saturday when dozens of immigrant girls and women leapt to their deaths - some with their clothes on fire, some holding hands - as horrified onlookers watched the Triangle Shirtwaist factory burn.
The March 25, 1911, fire that killed 146 workers became a touchstone for the organized labor movement, spurred laws that required fire drills and shed light on the lives of young immigrant workers near the turn of the century.

Illegal immigrants in US Marine uniforms arrested
Mexico must be that bad
Border Patrol agents caught 13 illegal immigrants wearing U.S. Marine uniforms at a border patrol checkpoint east of San Diego, an agency spokesman said Tuesday.
The immigrants were in a white van that was stopped March 14 along Interstate 8, Border Patrol spokesman Michael Jimenez said. The van had a U.S. government license plate with an altered number, Jimenez said. He did not know where the group obtained the military uniforms.

Who are the Libyan rebels? U.S. tries to figure out
Pilots got very lucky
When a U.S. Air Force pilot ejected from his crashing F-15 Eagle fighter jet and landed in rebel-held eastern Libya overnight Tuesday, he soon found that he was in friendly hands.
"He was a very nice guy," Libyan businessman Ibrahim Ismail told Newsweek of the initially quite anxious American pilot. "He came to free the Libyan people." Rebel officials dispatched a doctor to attend to the pilot and presented him with a bouquet of flowers, according to Newsweek.

New gun-control legislation would prohibit those arrested but not convicted of drug crimes from possessing firearms More unfair laws
Get collared years ago on a bogus drug charge because the oregano in your back pocket looked like was a bag of weed? Or maybe a judge back in 2006 dropped those charges because you were able to provide proof for that Adderall prescription? Under proposed legislation, it will not matter if you were innocent all along or even proven innocent by a court of law.
Either way, you can forget about buying a gun.
The Fix Gun Checks Act of 2011 would greatly expand the definition of those legally prohibited from owning firearms to include anyone who's ever been arrested - even if never convicted or found guilty - for drug possession within a five-year period. The legislation is certainly troubling for those who want a "common sense" debate about drug decriminalization. And it would seem fears that any new national gun-control legislation would be used to limit the gun-rights of law-abiding citizens is at least partially justified.

In 2011, the notion that there really IS something about Islam that threatens American values is finally breaking the surface. The latest evidence of this is the firestorm that's erupted in response to the words of Councilwoman Deborah Pauly, of Villa Park City, CA, who spoke outside a Islamic fundraiser with speakers who had known terrorist connections. The article below comes with a video of local news coverage that is really worth seeing (it's short -- 2:51 minutes: http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-villa-park-councilwoman-protest,0,5376822.story ). Click on the link; it will be well worth your time.
The problem we face, now that Islam itself is becoming the topic of a national discussion, is that so few people really understand it. Therefore, when they organize events and make speeches, as Pauly did, they can speak out of pure emotion or fear, which a hostile liberal press can then run with to make the people look like xenophobes. It's important that protestors take the time to understand the true nature of Islam's threat and focus on that threat, rather than simply rant.
Below the article is an email I sent Councilwoman Pauly, intended to help her state Islam's threat in a way that cannot be misinterpeted and focuses on the real problem. You may want to send her an email too. Please do! With all the hate mail that I'm sure she's getting, she needs to hear that we support her stand against Islamicization.
Dave B.
Protesters Outraged Over Councilwoman's Anti-Muslim Rant
Villa Park City Councilwoman Deborah Pauly's speech referred to Muslims as evil. Watch Mary Beth McDade's report.
VILLA PARK (KTLA) -- Hundreds of protesters showed up outside Villa Park's city hall Tuesday to take a stand against a councilwoman whose anti-Muslim statements have gone viral. They spilled out from the council's chambers, holding American Flags and signs saying, "I am a Muslim, I am not a terrorist," referencing statements that Villa Park City Councilwoman Deborah Pauly made at a demonstration in February outside an event held by the Islamic Circle of North American Relief. Pauly's speech, which quickly went viral, referred to Muslims as evil, and claimed that soldiers fighting overseas were working towards "helping these terrorists make an early meeting in Paradise." "Make no bones about it, that is pure unadulterated evil," Pauly said in the video, while pointing in the direction of the building hosting the Islamic event. "I don't even care if you think I'm crazy any more." The video also showed loud crowds cheering Pauly and mocking the events participants while chanting "USA." Protesters are asking for the city to recognize her statements and hoping to raise awareness about the treatment of Muslims in America. "What would be appropriate is for her to recognize that she is perpetuating hate in our city and to retract her statement and make a public apology," protest organizer Nadia Hassan told KTLA. The Orange County Sheriff's Department was on hand at the protest, providing security because the councilwoman has received multiple death threats. Paul Dean Andrews, 27, was arrested at his home in San Pedro Monday and pleaded not guilty to charges that he sent Pauly death threats on Facebook. The alleged threats, which were sent in a message on the social networking site earlier this month, included a threat to harm her with weapons.
EMAIL TO COUNCILWOMAN PAULY, at dpauly@villapark.org :
Subject: You are right about Islam. Here's how to say it: "Any religion that punishes blasphemy and apostasy with death violates the First Amendment. Therefore it should not be protected under the First Amendment."
Dear Councilwoman Pauly,
I want to congratulate you for taking a stand against Islam. This is a very delicate matter, though, as I'm sure you appreciate. Therefore it's important to state your concern about Islam in Constitutional terms. This is easy to do, because what makes Islam so terrible is that it punishes with death the exercise of freedoms that Americans have cherished since the very founding of our country: Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion. If Islam tells its believers to punish people who speak against Islam with death, or punish Muslims who try to leave the religion with death, then it is fundamentally irreconcilable with the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Therefore, it should not be protected under the First Amendment, because if Muslims were to ever control this country, the first thing they would do is nullify the First Amendment.
As much as we Americans avoid the subject, it has always been true that the United States has qualified the right to Freedom of Religion. Any religion that seeks to kill people for behavior that is protected under the U.S. Constitution is not acceptable. This should be obvious to every American, and the time has come to have a national dialogue about this issue.
I wish you success and stand with you in your effort to defend our country from Islamicization.
Respectfully and supportively,
Dave Bailey

RedState Morning Briefing
For March 24, 2011
1. It's a Kinetic Cluster SNAFU Is What It Is
Good morning friends. We are apparently not at war in Libya. No, it is no war. Despite shots being fired, Marines being sent, and tomahawks launched, it is not a war. It's not even a battle. Nor is it a fight.
According to the Barack Obama Administration, it is a 'kinetic military action', which best I can figure is some sort of cure for some sort of bad rash, or something like that and it may or may not involved a Microsoft Xbox attachment. Given the mission is named Odyssey Dawn, which sounds like a Las Vegas Stripper, a 'kinetic military action' could also be some sort of shot across the bow of rare venereal diseases too.
But it is definitely, positively, absolutely not a war. If it were a war, Barack Obama would have to get pre-authorization from Congress or Joe Biden would support his impeachment.
Friends, this is a kinetic cluster SNAFU is what it is. Our intelligence community says Al Qaeda is not helping the rebels, just as they said Iran was not going to pursue a nuclear weapons program any time soon and missed out on the whole U.S.S. Cole and Embassy bombing thing - not to mention September 11, 2001.
As our intelligence community was issuing proclamations that Al Qaeda is not involved, Al Qaeda itself is sending videotaped love missives to the rebels telling them to keep up the fight against Khaddafi or however the hell you spell the man's name. Allegedly, Al Qaeda also said Odyssey Dawn is the name of one of the 77 virgins waiting for the rebels.
Oh, and if it couldn't get any better, the Libyan rebels have taken to chopping up "black Africans" into little pieces or putting bullets in their heads. Why? Well, it appears K/Ghadaffi hired sub-saharan mercenaries and instead of trying to decide who is who, the rebels are killing every dark skinned African they can get their machetes on.
Germany bailed, by the way. France and Sarkow are passing the buck to Barry.
Wake me when it's over.
2. (Video) Obama Was Against Military Intervention Before He Was For It
At some point, one assumes that politicians would remember that everything is recorded these days and that in order to not appear hypocritical, they must address what has been said when it stands starkly against what they are doing.
Such is the case with President Obama and the actions in Libya. Like RedState's own Moe Lane, I too have had a difficult time deciding where I stand on the current action given that the President would need to have outlined an objective of some sort in order for me to know if I'm for or against it.
Objectives aside however, there is no doubt what is taking place as a practical matter: We as a nation are now committed to a military course of action against this evil dictator.
3. Jack Killed Giants. Barry Kills Jobs.
Barack Obama wants everyone talking about the jobs he has saved or created, but it is time to put some attention on those jobs killed or wounded by Barack Obama.
A case in point would be the oil industry. According to a report by CNS News, Barack Obama has killed or wounded 19,000 jobs due to his ban on drilling for oil.
Of the 19,000 jobs lost, 13,000 jobs have been lost regionally along the Gulf Coast.
4. Dan Eggen of the Washington Post Engages in Journalistic Incest With Left Wing Interest Groups
The Obama mouthpiece Center for American Progress did a hit job on Congressman Mike Pompeo (R-KS) who happens to represent that part of Kansas in which Koch Industries is located.
Dan Eggen, who I think we can deduce is an avid reader of Center for American Progress nonsense, took up the hit job and placed it in the pages of the Washington Post.
Among other things, Eggen tries to portray Mike Pompeo as a pawn of Koch Industries because of its financial contributions to Pompeo's campaign via the Koch PAC and, when Pompeo was in business, a Koch venture capital firm contributing 2% of the overall money to Pompeo's business. Eggen wholly ignores, in bringing up the accusation, that Koch Industries is a legitimate constituent of Pompeo's.
More troubling, Eggen uses as objective sources for his story individuals who actively worked against Pompeo in the 2010 political campaign and are tied to far left interest groups. Eggen never bothers to disclose this.
5. Why Should We Care What NOW Thinks of Bill Maher's Sexist Palin Slur?
On Friday night, the abhorrent idjit known as Bill Maher used a crass and offensive slur about Sarah Palin. It is one that I will not repeat here, but suffice it to say it is a favorite misogynistic epithet of the lofty, oh-so-enlightened leftist set. I've been called it many times in hate emails and even on Twitter. It is usually prefaced with "dumb" and is second only to their top favorite term used to describe women; a term that starts with the third letter of the alphabet. Frankly, this isn't very surprising coming from the trollish Maher. He clearly has women issues, as he's shown many times in the past. As well as, I suspect, "compensation" issues. Hello, small man's complex!
6. Planned Parenthood Funding: We're Waiting
It has now been weeks since a series of damaging videos showing Planned Parenthood's systematic willingness to facilitate child sex-trafficking and other forms of lawbreaking, and Congress has yet failed to act to strip Federal funding of this corrupt organization. Several pro-life groups are stepping up the pressure with a series of videos designed to highlight the issue. The first is a powerful user-submitted video which won the contest sponsored by the Expose Planned Parenthood Coalition last week.
7. Just Who Is The SEIU Threatening These Days?
It seems The SEIU is making rediculous threats for a change. They will get their way - NOW! Otherwise, they intend to get the banksters by crashing Wall Street. They intend to end capitalism as we now know it and redistribute the proceeds fairly. Silly me. I always thought you could do that by voting for Democrats.
So just how does one get the banksters? I'd like to collect them and trade them amongst my friends. Frivolity aside, this is an absolute joke. But just for kicks, Business Insider explains the Glorious Proletariat Revolution below.

Obamacare's Failed First Year
Posted March 23rd, 2011
"I think that health care, over time, is going to become more popular," then-White House senior advisor David Axelrod promised David Gregory about Obamacare last September. That same month, the Health Information Campaign, founded by high-profile leftist activists including former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle and former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn, spent $2 million on a national television ad campaign touting Obamcare's first insurance mandates. Now, six months after Axelrod's promise, and a full year after the bill was signed into law, the results are in: Obamacare is more unpopular than ever.

Heritage in Focus: Anniversary of Obamacare

This week marks the first anniversary of Obamacare, and already some of the less egregious aspects of the law have taken effect: minimum loss ratio regulations, the small-business health insurance tax credit, high-risk pools, and coverage mandates on insurance companies. However, the worst parts of Obamacare won't kick in until 2014. You can learn more about in our recent Heritage in Focus podcast with Heritage expert Bob Moffit. Click here to listen.
So what has health reform accomplished over the past year?

Enduring Alliances Matter in Times of Crisis

The Franco-American-British coalition leading military intervention in Libya has demonstrated the cardinal rule of international security: enduring alliances matter. Ultimately, when the chips were down and the rebel stronghold in Benghazi was under threat, it was a coalition of long-standing allies that rallied behind one another to enforce a no-fly zone over Libya.

Making the Right Call on AT&T and T-Mobile
Posted March 22nd, 2011
No sooner did AT&T announce on Sunday its proposed acquisition of T-Mobile than analysts began handicapping whether federal regulators will approve the deal.
The $39 billion fusion of the second- and fourth-largest providers of U.S wireless service (by revenue) is sure to trigger lots of hand-wringing at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). But the agency's penchant for regulatory excess has harmed consumers in the past, and Congress ought to constrain it from doing so in this case.

COMMENTARIES:
Is Obama's Use of Military in Libya Constitutional? By Terence P. Jeffrey Leave aside for a moment whether it was wise for President Obama to order our military to intervene in Libya's civil war, siding with rebels we know little about against a dictator who has sponsored terrorism against us. A more fundamental question comes first: Did Obama have constitutional authority to do it? President George Washington's actions counsel otherwise.

The Fog of Libya By Rich Galen I need someone to explain to me what in the world we are doing bombing convoys in Libya. There has been no public estimate of how much will be needed to win, nor any clear definition of what "win" means. The legal justification for this war is based on the vote for a U.N. Security Council resolution which was something less than overwhelming: Ten nations voted for starting the war against Gaddhafi and five nations abstained. Western intelligence missed Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain and Libya. I'm not at all certain we have the human intelligence resources to be comfortable that we're helping the right guys.
Drilling Ken Salazar By Michelle Malkin After two years of practicing unrepentant contempt for science, jobs, law and truth, why should Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's words mean anything anymore? While President Obama promotes offshore drilling overseas thousands of miles away in Brazil, Salazar now promises to revitalize America's oil and gas industry. March 23, 2011 Liberals: They Blinded Us With Science by Ann Coulter |
In response to my column last week about hormesis -- the theory that some radiation can be beneficial to humans -- liberals reacted with their usual open-minded examination of the facts.
According to Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters, MSNBC's Ed Schultz devoted an entire segment to denouncing me. He called me toxic, accused me of spreading misinformation and said I didn't care about science.
One thing Schultz did not do, however, was cite a single physicist or scientific study.
I cited three physicists by name as well as four studies supporting hormesis in my column. For the benefit of liberals scared of science, I even cited The New York Times.
It tells you something that the most powerful repudiation of hormesis Schultz could produce was the fact that a series of government agencies have concluded -- I quote -- that "insufficient human data on hormesis exists."

Subject: Can you send me a list of your group's upcoming events?
Hey there,
A friend gave me your contact info and I wanted to drop you a quick line to see if you could possibly send me a list of your next few events. I'm about to begin attending local events throughout the country and want to see if I can swing over to one of yours soon.
On that note, I would LOVE to speak for a few minutes at your next event, if at all possible. As you may know, I've been deeply involved in this movement since 2008. My tea party email list is now almost 200,000 strong and in 2010 our organization raised more than $2.6 MILLION to oppose Harry Reid and several now fired members of Congress.
Lately I've began to grasp a harsh reality of what is ahead of us and our nation, and it doesn't look good. My message is now about unifying locally and being prepared.
I would love the chance to share some of my experiences with your group, and possibly discuss some ideas we can all use as we move forward and try to save our country.
I look forward to your response.

Kanye West is a Barry Goldwater nut. Though the rap star was not even born when Goldwater campaigned in the 1964 presidential election, he was introduced to his philosophy by fellow Goldwater enthusiast Ghostface Killah, who told him, "That Barry. West owns the world's largest collection of Goldwater memorabilia (including 387 different lapel pins, over 3,000 posters, as well as the original megaphone used by Goldwater while addressing a crowd in Birmingham, Alabama). He has vowed never to support the Republican cause until a candidate emerges who is properly in tune with Goldwater's libertarian instincts. |

On Wednesday's Program
What is the plan with Libya, exactly?
We'll probably never know Obama's Libya plans because the press won't bother to question him about it and his case so far is cloudy at best. He and members of his own administration have even voiced clear opposition to similar operations in the past (i.e. Biden said he'd lead the charge to impeach Bush if he authorized military action against Iran). It doesn't make any sense - Glenn tries to sort out the mess on radio today.
Shep Smith's epic interview with Lawrence Taylor
There's a reason why lawyers prefer to keep their clients away from the media - usually because they'll say something stupid and whether they are innocent or not, they will look very guilty. Lawrence Taylor confirmed the soundness of that strategy yesterday during a revealing interview with Shep Smith. Taylor went on to explain the benefits and the trappings of prostitution, and how hard it is to resist prostitutes when you're on the road for 10 days. More details HERE.
"The 7...Live" Finale is TONIGHT at 7pm ET - FREE Primetime special!
Glenn and Dr. Keith Ablow have been following the stories of several people who are turning pages in their lives as they find the power to change within themselves, and in turn are making this country a better place. Lucinda Jones joined the radio program today to talk about her experience after reading The 7. How did she find purpose in her life? What did she discover about herself? Check out the interview from radio HERE. Join Glenn and Dr. Ablow live tonight for the FREE special and see people who have decided to be part of the solution. Get inspired. Get motivated. Tune in tonight at 7 pm ET. Get all the details HERE.
Rare moment in sports
It's not often a big time college athletic team will stick to their values when it comes to a star player getting in trouble. BYU did the tough thing when it kicked a key player off the team after finding out he violated the school's honor code by admitting to having sex outside of marriage. How has the team fared since losing a star player? Find out HERE.
How can you be a force for good? Check out Glenn's plan from TV last night - WATCH.
Finally, you can stop stalking Glenn
Always wanted to meet Glenn, but getting tired of hiding behind trees and wearing cheesy disguises? You're in luck! Now there are multiple ways you can meet Glenn. First, enter to win the sweepstakes for a trip to New York City to meet Glenn & watch and hour of the radio program.
