Lawmakers Get Death Threats
By Jon Byman | Mar 10, 2011
MADISON - The State Department of Justice confirms that it is investigating several death threats against a number of lawmakers in response to the legislature's move to strip employees of many collective bargaining rights.
Among the threats the Justice Department is investigationg is one that was emailed to Republican Senators Wednesday night. Newsradio 620 WTMJ has obtained that email.
The following is the unedited email:
Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell. Read below for more information on possible scenarios in which you will die.

RedState Morning Briefing
For March 11, 2011
1. Lame Duck II: The Sequel
A lot can happen between now and November, 2012. But let me make a prediction: The next month will either set Barack Obama on a "glide path" toward electoral victory -- or a glide path toward electoral defeat.
The Obama-generated narrative is that the next 30 days will be spent trying to come up with a "magic number" (between $10 billion and $61 billion) of Obama-approved spending cuts which are acceptable to both Republicans and the White House. Among other things, this negotiated plan would fund ObamaCare.
If this narrative unfolds the way Obama is planning, it will create a political dynamic comparable to the GOP's botched handling of the lame duck session:
- In less than three weeks in December, Barack Obama was transformed from a has-been to a 2012
frontrunner. - Obama paid off restive Democrat constituencies: same-sex couples, foreign policy doves, environmentalists, unions, and New York's two recently reelected liberal senators.
- Obama was perceived as a leader who had embraced both bipartisanship and tax cuts.
Similarly, Obama is on the precipice of becoming a hero to every group facing cuts under the House's long-term funding bill -- while appearing bipartisan and becoming a champion of spending cuts.
If this happens, Republicans can forget about any more spending cuts which are not paid for with tax increases. And they can clench their teeth and prepare for the electoral disaster which 2012 will bring.
But let me suggest this. . .
2. CRS Report: U.S. is Leader in Fossil Fuel Resources
While Obama continues his implacable war on fossil fuels and campaigns for impotent and unreliable energy sources, he incessantly condemns oil as 'the energy of the past'. He is obviously referring to his self-fulfilling dream of eradicating oil from our economy; not the proven reality of our oil reserves. According to the latest research by the Congressional Research Service (CRS), America has more proven reserves and undiscovered resources of gas, oil, and coal than any other country in the world. Contrast that to the billions of dollars in special interest subsidies that have failed to ameliorate ineffectual 'alternative fuels' and it becomes quite obvious where the energy source of the future lies.
3. A Box is in the Eye of the Beholder
On December 11, 2005 former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright went on "Meet the Press" to opine that the Iraq war had been a mistake-worse than that it had de-railed the successful pre-war program of sanctions and a no-fly zone, which had contained the paper tiger.
4. The Left's New Tone? "...you will be killed and your familes will also be killed..."
Because you believe in freedom and fiscal responsibility, you've been told that you are racist hate-monger. Because you rallied and held Gadsen Flags, you've been called astroturf. You were blamed for a shooting by an anarchist madman. As you've watched in horror as your country has been consumed by collectivist unions and crony capitalists, you've been accused of advocating slavery and hypocritically excoriated for rhetoric.
For all of their false accusations, there is nothing, nothing that compares to this.
5. Josh Mandel: A candidate to get excited about
I have to be honest with you. With the exception of Ted Cruz and Michael Williams in Texas and Jeff Flake in Arizona, I am not really that excited about any of the Senate races this year. There are few solid conservative rockstars out there.
And yes, if you are thinking I am ignoring candidate X in your state, I've thought of them. They're good. But they are no Rand Paul or Jeff Flake or Mike Lee or Ted Cruz or Michael Williams. Good does not equate rockstar.
I might have a new race to get excited about. It appears Josh Mandel is going to run against Vladimir Sherrod Brown (S-OH). Yes, i know I put an "S" and not a "D" next to his name. He's an unrepentant socialist.
Mandel is a solid conservative. He's the Ohio Treasurer. He's young. He can win statewide. And should he definitely make a go of it, we should all be willing to rally to him.

VIDEO: Muslim Rep. Ellison Breaks Down in Tears at Extremism Hearings
America Live 2:17 pm on March 10, 2011
Megyn Kelly just shared video from today's hearings on the radicalization of U.S. Muslims. Some lawmakers were unapologetic while others were extremely emotional. Watch this video, and tell us where you stand on this controversial issue.

The need for Congressman Peter King's hearings on Muslim radicalization in America is amply demonstrated by the backlash against them. If anyone really understood the vast effort underway - through most of America's mosques - to indoctrinate young Muslims in the ways of radical jihad, there would be no doubt of the need for these hearings.

The projected million-women march turned out just 400 and they were harassed and in some cases attacked. Meanwhile, thousands of Muslims and Christians demonstrated and clashed in part due to the burning of a Christian church by Muslims. The new governmental team has been outspokenly anti-Israel-and that doesn't mean criticism but real hostility.
Crime has reportedly zoomed upward. including armed robberies, arson and street battles between rival criminal gangs over territory. One innovation has been for gangs to stop cars, partly by throwing eggs on the windshield so the driver can't see, then demand that the driver sign a bill of sale to them for the automobile and hand it over, or else.
All revolutions produce some anarchy. But the divisions between Christians and Muslims, (massive numbers of) Islamists and (tiny numbers of) secularist, treatment of women, and other issues have a structural component that just isn't going to go away...

Moslems in America
You are Responsible for Peter's Kings Congressional Hearings
Stanley Zir, author
Susan North, editor
Prologue
With Congressman King holding hearings on the radicalization of American Moslems you can be sure that President Barak Obama will chime in to remind Americans that their commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable. We would like to remind Mr. Obama that tolerance for evil, no matter how it is dressed up whether in religious or secular garb is compliance, not compassion.
We can never expect a failsafe policy in our war against terrorism, but we have every right to demand a failsafe policy to protect us against those who breech the constitutional firewall that protects us from those who are now using their God's name to betray liberty's trust here at home. This betrayal of our covenant of freedom must now be exposed no matter what the cost. We must not be destroyed by those who would manipulate our documents of governance to destroy our fortress of liberty from within.
Any policy that puts America under house arrest, and muzzles our first amendment rights because we chose to speak out against nations whose constitutions honor the subjugation of the human spirit in Allah's name, is a policy that betrays our country's just purpose and noble cause. We are the defenders of liberty in this world. We must not be deterred in this noble quest. We are not tyranny compliant, despite what our enemies might now believe. We are not beholding to tyrannies' decrees. We don't let tyrannies dictate to us what we must do. We are here to end their reign of tyranny in this world.
Our founding fathers left us a recipe for freedom that secures the happiness of mankind, a Constitutional governance that repels tyranny at every turn. That is why we the people must honor this privilege afforded by our founders to secure America as an eternal sanctuary free from those who would use the name of God to deny us our Constitutional rights. In holding these hearings Cong. Peter King is fulfilling his sworn responsible to protect our nation from all enemies domestic and foreign who would destroy our nation from within.
Just three months after the attack on 9/11, I wrote the following on my site Victorious America http://victoriousamerica.com/pledge (a synopsis of this article is below).
Essay: Moslems in America
As Americans find themselves more and more in opposition to the religious tyrannical governances in the Islamic world, it would be wise for the so called moderate Moslem groups in this country to come out now in force and condemn not only the attacks on 9/11, but the Mosque/State religious tyrannical nations of the Arab League that are the breeding grounds for these acts of terrorism, and the homelands of those that attacked us.
People of the Moslem faith who came here to pursue the American dream must speak out and lead the fight to expose the nations of the Islamic world which embrace Mosque/State governmental decrees.
By speaking out against these enclaves of oppression and hatred the Moslem people in America could gain the full support of the American people. This would go a long way in preventing Americans from distrusting them on their position in the war against terrorism. If Moslems do not speak out now and make their position perfectly clear, they will be responsible for creating distrust in the future.
After all, many people came to America to become citizens because they were persecuted for their religious or secular beliefs. After 9/11 shouldn't Moslems, as American citizens, be the loudest in their protests to end the tyranny in the Mosque/State governing institutions in the Islamic world.
Did anyone in the years prior to 9/11 observe any Moslem organization in America willing to visit the country of their origin, as American citizens with the express purpose of talking about the absence of freedoms or the necessity of changes to end the reign of tyranny. I never heard such objections even in America. On the other hand, I heard it from Americans of Cuban descent, and Americans of Chinese descent, whose relatives are still under such tyrannical regimes, but never from the Moslems of America.
It is time for the so called moderate Moslem groups to speak out. Your silence on Islamic tyranny and its purpose to radicalize the world, over the years past speaks volumes. Your inaction dishonors the privileges that American citizenship affords you by dishonoring the freedoms you enjoy today. Freedoms - that were secured because of America's on-going battle against the advancement of tyranny and oppression in this world. It is time you totally condemn homicidal bombing against civilians around the world without reservation, and condemn the lies coming from the Islamic world which justify such an agenda.
In a gathering for Moslems in Washington, DC earlier this year not one speaker talked about human rights abuses in the Moslem world. I wonder where Moslem Americans will stand when the United States finds itself in conflict with most of the Moslem nations in the future. Why must we wait for that moment for you to reveal your allegiance?
Therefore, after 9/11 it seems to me that it would be appropriate for these so called moderate Moslem groups in America to once again meet in Washington, DC. This time they need to declare their allegiance to America in the war against terrorism, and their opposition to the reigns of tyranny in their lands of origin.
This one action is the greatest act of patriotism Moslem citizens can make in America to show their allegiance to democracy and our constitution first and foremost. By taking this one step America will achieve the unconditional support of the whole world in our fight against terror. At the same time it will shift the focus of all Islamic nations to open the doors of liberty, freedom and the rule of law.
Henceforth, Victorious America will extend its participation in the process of protecting and defending man's fundamental rights based on the foundation of democratic principles. I will fearlessly challenge and uncover any group, institution, government or nation in the secular or religious world that would desecrate these ideals to promote tyranny and oppression in order to achieve absolute power as the rule of law.
I wrote this in 2001 three months after the attack on September 11, 2001. It is now March 2011. Where were all those moderates hiding for the last ten years?

ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA v. NPR
Predictably, ZOA is on the forefront of brilliantly exposing anti-Semitism wherever it is found. In this case, at taxpayer funded National Public Radio. Predictably, ZOA's analysis and commentary is factually detailed, closely reasoned and presented in clear and straightforward manner.
Not surprisingly, the snobbish, pseudo-intellectual, faux elitist at National Public Radio disdain ordinary Americans and are sympathetic to anti-American, totalitarian Islamism radically committed to violently imposing Shariah on America and the World and Establishing a World Caliphate, another utopian and murderous fantasy.
It seems that both Ron Schiller and Vivian Schiller (no relation) are out.

ZOA: NPR's Schiller Should Resign For His Agreement
with Anti-Semitic Remarks by Two Men Posing
as Muslim Brotherhood Members
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has called for the resignation of National Public Radio (NPR) senior executive, Ron Schiller, after he was caught by concealed camera dining with two men posing as members of an American affiliate of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood, nodding, agreeing with and not repudiating anti-Semitic remarks put to him by the two men. In a video released today, Schiller and Betsy Liley, NPR's director of institutional giving, are seen meeting with two men who, unbeknownst to the NPR executives, were posing, using the names Ibrahim Kasaam and Amir Malik, as members of a Muslim Brotherhood front group, the fictitious Muslim Education Action Center (MEAC), which even has a contrived website which states that its mission is combating "intolerance to spread acceptance of Sharia across the world." In the lunch meeting, when the man posing as Kasaam suggests to Schiller that "Jews do kind of control the media or, I mean, certainly the Zionists and the people who have the interests in swaying media coverage toward a favorable direction of Israel," Schiller does not rebut him or stop eating. He just nods his head slightly. Then, when Kasaam jokes that his friends call NPR, "National Palestinian Radio," because, according to him, NPR is the only media outlet that covers Palestinians' perspective. Schiller laughed. When the fake Islamists say that they're "not too upset about maybe a little bit less Jew influence of money into NPR," Schiller wasn't offended by their crudely anti-Semitic language. Instead, he simply replied that NPR receives very little Jewish or pro-Zionist money before adding, "I mean it's there [Jewish, pro-Zionist influence] in those who own newspapers, obviously, but no one owns NPR."
Schiller also claimed liberals are more intellectual and intelligent than conservatives, that Tea Party members are racists, not "just Islamaphobic, but really xenophobic, I mean basically they are, they believe in sort of white, middle-America gun-toting. I mean, it's scary. They're seriously racist, racist people." When told that MEAC contributes to a number of Muslim schools across the U.S. and "was originally founded by a few members of the Muslim Brotherhood in America actually," Schiller has no negative reaction to the news that this Islamist movement, which was the precursor of Al-Qaeda, calls for implementation of sharia law world-wide and which has produced terrorist movements in the Middle East, is funding schools in the U.S. and that his interlocutors are claiming to represent an organization allegedly founded by it. Schiller also says that what he is "most disappointed by in this country, which is that the educated, so-called elite in this country is too small a percentage of the population, so that you have this very large un-educated part of the population that carries these ideas" (Matthew Boyle, 'NPR executives caught on tape bashing conservatives and Tea Party, touting liberals,'Daily Caller, March 8, 2011).
ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, "We call on all decent people, especially American Jews, to stop contributing to NPR. Ron Schiller should be fired immediately. The video evidence demonstrates conclusively that he agreed with and did not challenge crudely anti-Semitic observations puts to him about Jewish and Zionist control of the media - a pernicious and also absurd idea, given the harsh and biased coverage which has been Israel's lot for decades. Moreover, Schiller showed himself to have no problem meeting with people explicitly holding themselves out as being Islamists who want to implement sharia law. Schiller also showed that he had no problem with NPR being perceived as a vehicle for Palestinian propaganda and being more pro-Palestinian than the rest of even the liberal media, indicating a complete lack of genuine impartiality, which might explain at least some of the biased anti-Israel coverage which appears on NPR.
"Earlier this year, NPR fired Juan Williams for merely stating his honest feeling that, in view of Islamist terrorist assaults on civilian airliners, he feels some discomfort when identifiably devout Muslims stand in line to board the same plane on which he is travelling. Williams was not being bigoted about Muslims, he was speaking of justifiable concerns about Muslim terrorists. Yet, he was fired because it was said that he had given intolerable offense. If that is the case - and the ZOA thinks this is nonsense - then Schiller should certainly be fired for giving far, far greater offense to Jews and others. Ironically, Schiller speaks on this tape supporting the firing of Juan Williams on the ground that NPR would have lacked credibility from this point on in allowing Williams to address issues relating to Muslims. Well, Schiller's conduct is genuinely offensive and indicates that NPR lacks all credibility in addressing issues of Jewish concern, especially if it continues to employ him."

The Left Rioting In Wisconsin
The left's intolerance was on full display today in Madison, Wisconsin. It all started several weeks ago when liberal politicians fled the state in order to hijack the legislative process. Their absence prevented the state Senate from voting on crucial legislation to tackle Wisconsin's budget deficit.
After days of trying to entice the Democrats to come back and do their jobs, Republican legislators broke the stalemate last night. They took the restrictions on collective bargaining rights for government employees out of the budget repair bill and created two separate pieces of legislation. As a separate bill, a supermajority quorum was not needed to vote on collective bargaining rights because it was not considered a fiscal matter.
With that obstacle out of the way, Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate passed the collective bargaining rights bill 18-to-1. Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said, "The people elected us to do a job, and just because the Senate Democrats won't do theirs doesn't mean we won't do ours." Then left-wing protestors and union members stormed the capitol. You can see it here and here. This is a "dress rehearsal" for what the left may do all over the country if Republicans move ahead to cut big government and out-of-control spending.
The state Assembly is supposed to take up the bill today, but protestors began barricading Republican legislators inside their offices, preventing them from getting to the Assembly floor for a vote. As I write, the radicals are being forcibly removed.
It is also being reported that the Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating a rash of death threats against Republican lawmakers. Here is an excerpt from one message:
"Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your families will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit that you have created. I hope you have a good time in h---."
Left-wing filmmaker and Fidel Castro admirer Michael Moore is rallying the radical fringe. On MSNBC last night, Moore declared, "This is war. This is a class war. ...I'd like anybody who works on Wall Street, anybody who works for the banks, just take a look at [the chaos in Madison]. This is what's coming. This is what's coming for you. Because the people are going to demand justice, they're going to demand that your a-- is in jail." Jesse Jackson has jumped in, too, along with various radical left-wing student groups at the University of Wisconsin.
What is playing out in Wisconsin is not unlike what the media predicted would happen after the shooting of a Democrat congresswoman in Arizona, except then the media were hyperventilating about the Tea Party and conservative talk radio. We got lecture after lecture about how conservatives needed to tone down their rhetoric. But the Tea Party demonstrations were peaceful and conservative talk radio is well within the mainstream. In fact, as I have argued before, these institutions make violence less likely.
Like their fellow liberals in the Wisconsin Senate, the media have been largely AWOL in their coverage of the chaos in Wisconsin. Can you imagine what they would be saying if Tea Party demonstrators had committed civil disobedience in a state capitol in an attempt to stop a liberal governor?
In the early days of this dispute, President Obama accused Gov. Walker of assaulting the unions. Since then Obama has been silent as his allies and political operatives promote lawless behavior. Where are the lectures from Obama about civility in public discourse now? Nowhere. The civility flap was a charade -- another effort to silence conservatives.
If, God forbid, one of these GOP legislators is harmed in any way by a protestor, the blame will rest squarely with the unions and indirectly with President Obama for failing to condemn the climate of hate that the left has been encouraging for weeks.
Egyptian Christians Under Siege
Since the fall of the Mubarak regime in Egypt on February 11th, it has been "open season" on Coptic Christians in that country. Yesterday in Cairo a Muslim mob attacked Christians who were protesting the desecration of a church that was destroyed by fire and hammer-wielding Muslims.
At least 13 people were killed and 140 others injured, most of them Coptic Christians, while the Egyptian army stood by and watched for hours. (The Coptic Church's roots trace all the way back to Mark, who brought the faith to Alexandria, Egypt.) The Copts make up about 10% of Egypt's population. They are hardly a threat to the country's overwhelming Muslim population, but they face daily discrimination and threats of violence.
Christians are increasingly in danger throughout the Middle East. More and more, Iraqi Christians must worship in secret. Shahbaz Bhatti, the only Christian in the Pakistani cabinet, was brutally murdered last week by Muslim assassins. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA), a real warrior on religious liberty, had sent letter after letter to the State Department warning that Bhatti was in danger, but no steps were taken by the Pakistani government to protect him. There is little evidence of any moderate Muslim standing up to defend minority Christians in the middle of this persecution.
The American media have been slow to expose the carnage. The U.N. Security Council has held no emergency meetings. The Obama Administration has not used U.S. leverage to press Muslim governments to protect their Christian minorities. None of this inaction is a surprise, of course.
What is surprising and disgusting is the lack of outrage from the U.S. church about what is happening to its brothers and sisters in the Islamic world. There is a growing movement in some Christian circles to stand up for religious liberty -- but their efforts are on behalf of Muslims in the U.S., not their fellow Christians dying in the Middle East. Sad, but true.
When asked recently about the Muslim threats on his life, Shahbaz Bhatti calmly responded, "I want to share that I believe in Jesus Christ, who has given his own life for us. I know what is the meaning of the cross, and I am following the cross." Christians in Muslim lands are becoming martyrs. I hope we will find our voice to stand with them.
More Left-wing Hysteria
Rep. Peter King (R-NY), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, began a series of hearings today on radicalization in the American Muslim community. For daring to investigate the obvious, King has been castigated by Muslim advocacy groups, the media and liberal politicians as a modern-day Joe McCarthy. Not surprisingly, the American people feel differently.
A Gallup poll released yesterday finds that just 38% of Americans feel King's hearings are inappropriate, while 52% believe the hearings are justified. Even 40% of self-identified Democrats support the hearings into possible Islamic radicalization in America.
A Rasmussen poll released today finds that 64% of likely voters are concerned about the possibility of naturalized citizens committing acts of terrorism against America. Just 14% believe that the federal government is "paying too much attention to potential homegrown Islamic terrorists."
Here's something else to consider about the left's frothing reaction to these hearings: Politico reports that in recent years there have been "22 hearings focusing on the problem of radicalized American Muslims plotting terrorist acts... And none triggered the avalanche of attacks that King's hearings have prompted from the left."
Why not? Because those hearings were conducted mostly by liberal Democrats. The same double standard that is so evident in the lack of coverage of the union riots in Wisconsin is at work in the media's hysterical overreaction to Peter King's hearings on Islamic radicalization.
Saving The Ideal
One of America's most revered institutions is under attack. Since our nation's founding, it has been a leading driver of wealth accumulation and social stability -- at the heart of the American dream. I'm not talking about marriage or the family -- though the erosion of these vital institutions also helps explain the beleaguered state of this American ideal. I am referring to homeownership.
Pundits and economists across the political spectrum are now bemoaning America's homeownership "fetish." But homeownership ought to remain an American ideal. And, as I argue in an op-ed today in Politico, if America can recommit to its core values, we can preserve this part of the American dream.

DOMA Deserves a Defense
By Ed Feulner
Apart from anyones personal views on marriage is this unavoidable fact: The executive branch of our government (the president) is obligated, under the Constitution, to enforce the laws passed by the legislative branch (Congress). And whether the administration likes it or not, the Defense of Marriage Act is the law of the land. If Congress fails to ensure that DOMA receives a robust defense, it will have failed to defend its lawmaking authority. Lawmakers need to stand up for their prerogatives as legislators. Otherwise, its no exaggeration to say we risk undermining our whole system of government.

Our state leaders are really stepping up to the plate under the realization that those in the federal government cannot be relied upon to follow or uphold the United States Constitution, so the state leaders are taking action to do so themselves. We're seeing flurries of legislation at the state level that seek to uphold our country's immigration laws. We're also seeing states challenge the unconstitutional federal health care deform law, as well as states proposing anti-Shariah legislation to prevent the spread of unconstitutional Islamic Shariah law in America.

Our Wise Overlords Are Just Here to Serve Us

An Op/Ed by Thomas E. Woods, Jr.
In some ways the budget is the easy part.
There's nothing complicated about the fiscal crisis on the horizon. Even assuming the rosiest scenario - a robust recovery from our current malaise, along with interest rates holding at historic lows - the government's own numbers tell us that by 2020 we'll be paying nearly $1 trillion per year just in interest payments on the national debt. That's quite a brick wall we're about to hit.

Wisc. Senate Passes Collective Bargaining Ban Without Democrats
In a quick turn of events, Republican state senators in Wisconsin have successfully pushed through a provision stripping public employees of their collective bargaining rights by separating it from Gov. Scott Walker's controversial budget bill.
The stand-alone measure passed Wednesday evening by a vote of 18-1. No Democrats were present.

America's Choice: Market Freedom or Economic Stagnation
by Peter Schiff
Subscribe to Fusion In the March 2011 issue of Fusion, The Coming Insurrection the Problems and Solutions |
Nearly three years after a series of financial shocks kicked off the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression, the United States and much of the developed world is still mired in a seemingly intractable quagmire of unemployment, hopelessness and decline. Most politicians, economists and academics have drifted to the consensus that the calamity resulted from government reluctance to properly regulate the unbridled excesses of free market capitalism.
This is a truly unfortunate conclusion. Not only does the vilification of free markets misdiagnose the sickness, but it also ensures that in the dark days ahead the only cure for our ailing economy will be cast aside.

My fellow Pennsylvanians,
I was pleased to join with so many of you today at Governor Corbett's first budget address. It's so important the taxpayer's voice is heard at the budget address and that we have a chance to respond.
Click below to see photos of "The Taxpayers Response to the Budget" press conference.

As someone who has been closely involved in state budget preparation for many years as a member of the House, I can assure you that the budget process is not only essential for complying with the Constitutional requirement for a balanced budget and timely budget, but it also demonstrates the sitting governor's priorities.
CLICK HERE TO SEE A LINK OF SAM SPEAKING ON THE BUDGETAs I've been saying for many years, and we're seeing played out across this nation, many Governors and Legislatures have overspent, over borrowed and mortgaged the next generation. Businesses are overtaxed. Taxpaying citizens are broke. It's no different here in Pennsylvania.
We have debts and obligations exceeding $90 billion for which there is no money to pay. This state has operated with structural deficits for years only to paper over the gaping holes with one-time infusions or additional borrowing.
Last fall, the voters sent a strong message saying that they want the straight truth about taxes and spending. It's time to start putting the taxpayers first not special interests. It's now time to do the hard work of fixing the problems. No more excuses.
CLICK HERE TO SEE SAM'S INTERVIEW WITH WFMZ CHANNEL 69 While I am glad there are no recommended tax increases in this budget, this budget as proposed has a long way to go before it is Constitutionally balanced. While some significant spending cuts were recommended, there are not enough to fix the overspending.
My purpose today is not to provide an analysis of the full budget. It is to say that the taxpayers and the over 200 grassroots organizations across this Commonwealth have become an integral part of the budget process. Our involvement will be necessary if a proper budget is to be passed.

Democratic Socialism
Political Consequence of the Looming Debt Bomb Shockwave
"I place economy among the first and most important virtues and public debt as the greatest dangers to be feared." --Thomas Jefferson

Socialist Evolution
Paraphrasing the noted economist and philosopher F.A. Hayek, Future Freedom Foundation President Jacob Hornberger wrote, "There is no difference in principle, between the economic philosophy of Nazism, socialism, communism, and fascism and that of the American welfare state and regulated economy."
Not only is there no economic distinction between socialist systems in different political wrappers, ultimately there is no consequential societal distinction between Marxist Socialism, Nationalist Socialism, or the most recent incarnation of this beast, Democratic Socialism. The conclusion of socialism by any name, once it has replaced Rule of Law with the rule of men, is tyranny.
Noted Russian dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn, no stranger to the consequences of statism, wrote, "Socialism of any type leads to a total destruction of the human spirit."
Democratic Socialism, like Nationalist Socialism, is nothing more than Marxist Socialism repackaged. Likewise, it seeks a centrally planned economy directed by a single-party state that controls economic production by way of regulation and income redistribution. The success of Democrat Socialism depends upon supplanting Essential Liberty -- the rights "endowed by our Creator" -- primarily by refuting such endowment.
So what do these observations have to do with the current state of economic and political affairs in our great nation? Unfortunately, more than most Americans currently realize.
However discomforting this fact might be, there is abundant and irrefutable evidence that Barack Hussein Obama and his socialist cadre are endeavoring to "fundamentally transform the United States of America" by planting a debt bomb, the future shockwave of which, they surmise, will break the back of free enterprise. From the ashes of that cataclysm, Obama and his ilk envision restructuring our nation as the USSA.
If you think such assertions are just rhetorical hyperbole, think harder.
As the direct result of Obama's "economic recovery plan," the central government budget forecast for the current fiscal year includes a historic $1.65 trillion deficit. Given the economic consequences of continued growth in unfunded government spending (including ObamaCare), the potential inflation on our immediate horizon (prompted primarily by increasing energy costs), and diminished confidence in the U.S. dollar, the deficit proportion of fiscal-year 2012's $3.73 trillion budget will set yet another appalling record.
More perilous for consumers is the potential for "stagflation," a remnant from the Carter era that combines static or decreasing wages (stagnant economic growth) with increasing commodity prices (inflation).
In February alone, Obama's central government accrued a record $223 billion deficit for one month. To put this in perspective, that single-month deficit exceeds the entire 2007 budget deficit under George W. Bush -- you know, the one that was Demo-gogued during the 2008 campaign cycle.
Republicans scraped together a few more cuts for their feeble $61 billion in proposed 2011 budget reductions, but Obama and his Senate Democrats declared they would approve only $4.7 billion in additional cuts. "Do we want jobs?" asked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). "If we do, then we simply cannot pass the plan the Tea Party has already pushed through the House."
Indeed, the Senate voted down the House budget, which was to be expected. Reid went so far as to declare it "mean-spirited." Obama's Senate protagonist, John Kerry, defined the meager Republican cuts as an "ideological, extremist, reckless statement" that "would contribute to the reversal of our recovery. It might even destroy our recovery."
Since Democrats have lambasted and voted against any cuts proposed by Republicans, the Republican "leadership" should stand true to last fall's elections and propose those deep cuts promised on the campaign trail.
What is needed, if we're to have jobs in five years, is $4.7 billion in additional cuts for every day of this year's budget, and those that follow. There are budget solutions, but these require political courage and resolve, a rare commodity in our nation's Capital.
"Deficit spending," concluded Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors (1987-2006), "is simply a scheme for the hidden confiscation of wealth." And that is precisely the prescription necessary to establish Democratic Socialism.
If the future shock of this debt bomb set by Obama and his Useful Idiots does not yet cause you considerable heartburn, consider the implication of these statistics: Of total U.S. wages and employee benefits paid in 2010, 35 percent were paid by the central government as wages, or in fulfillment of entitlement programs. Read that again and let it sink in.
In 1960, wages and entitlement program distributions by the central government were 10 percent of total U.S wages and benefits. Over the next 40 years, that figure doubled to 20 percent. In just one decade since, that figure has increased to 35 percent, with the baby boomer wave yet to fully draw on government income and social services. This explains, in part, why federal spending has increased from $1.86 trillion in 2001 to $3.82 this year. Social welfare spending alone has increased by $514 billion since Obama took office.
Some 8 percent of the total work force is government employed, which is to say that the remaining 27 percent of government wages and benefits doled out by the welfare state is the foundation for Democratic Socialism.
Both political parties are resorting to tired old political formulas when asked about the challenge of balancing the national budget. Both suggest that it will take more than a decade -- a pathetic excuse that we have heard for decades. (As for those claims of surpluses in the Clinton years resulting from the economic growth set in motion during the Reagan years: not so when one takes into account the Social Security "lock box IOUs.")
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) concludes, "It is very difficult to balance the budget within 10 years without cutting seniors' benefits now, and as I said before, our vision of entitlement reform will protect today's seniors and those nearing retirement."
House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) insists, "We're not going to [have a balanced budget] in 10 years, but we have to be on a very considered path to get there, certainly, within the next decade and a half or two decades."
Any pretense that Obama has any intention of balancing the budget is spurious, as the smallest estimated annual deficit that his budget will run during the next decade is $615 billion.
Meanwhile, he continues to recycle these prevarications: "Not only were we able to yank this economy out of the recession, not only were we able to get this economy going again, but in the last 15 months we've seen the economy add jobs. We didn't just rescue the economy; we put it on the strongest footing for the future."
As it stands now, Congress is borrowing 40 cents of every dollar it spends and our national debt is now at $14 trillion, which is about 97 percent of our nation's gross domestic product (economic production) in 2010.
So what are the political consequences when the money runs out, when the lenders withdraw, when the smoke clears and the mirrors shatter from the debt bomb shockwave?
Some will settle for the institution of Democratic Socialism.
However none should underestimate the potential groundswell of protest across our nation, composed primarily of legions of Patriots fully capable of intervening on behalf of the Rule of Law enshrined in our Constitution.
If those elected to national office, regardless of political affiliation, fail to abide by their oaths to Support and Defend our Constitution, particularly its limitations on the central government which have been disregarded for much of the last century, then we, the people, will restore the integrity of our Constitution, as is our right and obligation. Rest assured, there will come atime for choosing as outlined by Ronald Reagan, and that time must come.
One might recall that our Declaration of Independence and Constitution were the product of civil disobedience and revolution against a lesser form of tyranny than that imposed today. In the words of Founding Father Thomas Jefferson, "The tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
For those whom such notions offend, I offer these words of parting from Samuel Adams: "If ye love wealth better than Liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!"

Stop Obama's EPA from Increasing American Energy Costs!
Gas prices keep climbing as turmoil in Libya and the Middle East rages. Now more than ever, energy independence should be an absolute priority for our elected officials.
And yet Barack Obama won't stop trying to advance a radical leftist environmental agenda that threatens to cause energy prices, including gasoline, to further skyrocket.
TAKE ACTION!
Specifically, Obama continues to use the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to try and work around Congress and implement CO2 restrictions via regulatory action, without so much as a vote on this incredibly important issue! It's nothing more than a "backdoor cap and trade scheme" that must be stopped at all costs to prevent further damage to our fragile, recovering economy.
Fortunately, Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) and Representative Fred Upton (R, MI-6) have recently introduced " The Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011" (S. 482 in the Senate & H.R. 910 in the House). This bold legislation would completely strip EPA of its ability to use the Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse gases, effectively stopping Obama's backdoor cap and trade strategy dead in its tracks.
We need to build momentum for this important legislation now to prevent the Obama EPA's regulatory end-run around Congress from driving American energy costs through the roof and further threatening our energy security in such a turbulent time -- CLICK HERE to TAKE ACTION and urge your U.S. Representative and Senators to support and cosponsor The Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011!
Sincerely,
 Dick Armey Chairman, FreedomWorks |

Patriot,
Tuesday, the federal government granted the ENTIRE state of Maine an Obamacare waiver - with four other states pending!

Governor Tom Corbett recognizes the Marcellus Shale energy exploration and production is Pennsylvania's Opportunity for Jobs and Independence.
Marcellus Shale Natural Gas formation is a gift to Pennsylvania and is, at present, the number one job creator in Pennsylvania offering a greater supply of energy to the productive businesses of Pennsylvania and to residential home users raising our standard of living. In sharp contrast to Democrats whose job killing tax policies want to strangle the baby in the crib, Republican Tom Corbett is encouraging energy exploration and production.
From Tony Phyrillas: Gov Tom Corbett: Let's make Pennsylvania the Texas of the natural gas boom'
Another sharp contrast between Ed Rendell and Tom Corbett.
Last year, Gov. Ed Rendell and Democratic lawmakers pushed for a plan to impose the highest severance tax in the nation on Marcellus Shale extraction in Pennsylvania.
The plan was defeated in the Legislature, primarily by Republican lawmakers.
Despite losing the governor's mansion and the majority in the House, Democrats are back again pushing for a tax on Marcellus Shale.
Instead of rushing into a quick decision, Gov. Tom Corbett has appointed a commission headed by Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley to study how Pennsylvania can best protect its natural resources while benefiting from a potential windfall.
From Corbett's Tuesday budget address:
But government is not meant to be the answer for jobs. The private sector is. The Marcellus Shale discovery, a natural resource deposit that rivals the ages of coal and oil, is a great example.
Limited government means not mistaking someone else's property for your own. There has been much pressure to tax the gas being drawn from the Marcellus Shale. The Marcellus is a resource, a source of potential wealth, the foundation of a new economy. Not just something new to tax.
Pennsylvania can become a center not just of resources but a center of the industry that backs up those resources. For every pipe running a mile underground we should have jobs at distribution centers, at refineries, at shipping ports, and the offices and companies that run them.
These resources, by the way, belong to the people who own the mineral rights. Those people are getting their fair share by working out their own leases with the companies doing the drilling. That's how it should be. That's the American way. What Pennsylvanians will gain is the jobs, the spinoffs, and if we don't scare these industries off with new taxes, the follow-up that comes along. You see underneath the Marcellus Shale is another bonanza. It's called the Utica Shale. And where Marcellus promises 50 years of energy the Utica promises riches going into the next century. Let's make Pennsylvania the hub of this boom. Just as the oil companies decided to headquarter in one of a dozen states with oil ... let's make Pennsylvania the Texas of the natural gas boom. I'm determined that Pennsylvania not lose this moment. We have the chance to get it right the first time, the chance to grow our way out of hard days.
Governor Corbett Announces Formation of Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission

The Governor has kept his promise to us; it is now our responsibility to defend his budget.
Gov. Tom Corbett has done an excellent job and kept his promise to the voters who elected him to not to spend more than revenues. It is clear that Gov. Corbett has heard The Forgotten Taxpayer and Tom Corbett is leading in common sense fiscal policy
Allocating priorities was bound to cause blowback but note the whine of the president of the FOUR BILLION profitable nonprofit Pennsylvania State University. As the night follows the day, the Democrats bash the Corbett -Zogby Budget with class warfare rhetoric and with complaints but no solutions other than raising taxes on productive job creator Marcellus Shale energy exploration and never, ever an idea to reduce spending. Fish gotta swim; Democrats gotta spend and tax.
Undoubtedly, as the legislative process moves forward, there will be some modifications but the essential point is that spending = revenue and no tax increase
Hat Tip Robert Howard, Eagle Forum Pennsylvania What about Governor Corbett's budget message? I had the opportunity to attend Governor Corbett's budget address during a joint session of the PA General Assembly in Harrisburg yesterday. Summary: Corbett followed through on his campaign promise to balance the budget without tax increases. Summary Comments: "Unlike the past eight years that earned a fiscal grade of F, this budget puts the taxpayers first and deserves a solid B for not increasing taxes, reducing expenditures, and putting the taxpayers' interests first," said Commonwealth Foundation President and CEO Matthew J. Brouillette. "But much more can be done to limit state government to its core functions and begin reducing Pennsylvania's ranking as the 10th highest tax burden in the nation." What does it take to get an A+ from the Commonwealth Foundation? To earn an A+, the Commonwealth Foundation recommends the complete elimination of "corporate welfare" programs; a more fiscally conservative revenue projection; reducing welfare fraud and abuse; and better financial planning for the coming pension, retiree health care, and Medicaid funding crises. If you are one of the Pennsylvania voters who voted for a balanced budget without a tax increase now it is your turn to support the cuts. Here is what you are up against. Penn State President Spanier declared that "Abraham Lincoln is weeping today" and he whined another 55 minutes about how a $182 million cut would result in cutting programs, freezing salaries, laying off staff, and perhaps even closing one of its 24 campuses. This might be a 50% cut in state funding but this cut represents about only 4% of Penn State's $4 billion plus operating budget. I bet a lot of Pennsylvanians will feel differently when they realize we are only talking about 4% of Penn States operating budget. I talked to one newly elected representative who responded that it appears Penn State has some decisions to make. Voters are tired of sending money to Penn State year after year while tuition climbs faster than inflation and the University adds studies that parents find offensive and don't result in real world jobs. Private worker's salaries have been stagnant while University salaries and spending have continued to climb. It is time for Penn State to join the real world. Pitt Chancellor Mark Nordenberg called the proposed cuts devastating, vowed to take his fight to Harrisburg and signaled a willingness to promote student advocacy efforts with lawmakers. NOTE: PITT IS THREATENING TO SEND STUDENTS TO HARRISBURG! ARE YOU PLANNING TO REACT AND SUPPORT WHAT YOU TOLD CORBETT YOU WANTED?
By the way I am a Penn State grad. Every time I get a call from Penn State I inform them that I gave by force when I paid my taxes. If they persist I tell them to call me back after an independent investigation of Mann's environmental fraud at Penn State. If they persist again I donate to Grove City College to honor Grove City College's commitment to education not compromised by Federal or State funding. |

Governor's Budget Address Begins the Process |
On Tuesday, March 8, Gov. Tom Corbett presented his much anticipated 2011-12 fiscal year budget address to a joint session of the General Assembly. The annual state budget is the result of a negotiated agreement between the governor, the Senate and the House of Representatives, and the budget address marked the official start of this lengthy process.
Beginning next week, both the House and Senate will conduct intense hearings to examine all facets of state government spending and to hear testimony from various stakeholders involved. There is a long way to go in this process, and the budget numbers can - and most likely will - change. House Appropriations Committee budget hearings can be viewed via live streaming video at PAHouseGOP.com. Just click to see the schedule of hearings and select "LIVE Web Streams" to view.
In addition to viewing the budget hearings, Corbett also has expanded the transparency of the process with the implementation of his online "Budget Dashboard." You can click on a link and view the entire budget proposal in a reader-friendly format. The governor calls this a "dashboard" because he says - and I agree - that it is time our tax-paying citizens felt as if they were in the driver's seat. I encourage you to visit this site to see for yourself how the governor proposes to spend your money. You can track every department's spending and every revenue source that supports it.
> View the Governor's "Budget Dashboard." Corbett made it clear that there has to be a sense of fiscal responsibility restored to state spending. He stated that there are two key underlying messages, "One, we have to spend less, because we have less to spend, and two, we must tax no more, because the people have no more to give." In addition to those points, the governor said that the budget struggle must be a shared experience. "If government is here to share the taxpayer's wealth, then everyone needs to share in the sacrifice."
The proposed budget outlines $27.34 billion in total General Fund spending, which represents a reduction of $866.3 million from the 2010-2011 budget (a 3.1 percent reduction). While I appreciate that the governor has proposed a budget that includes no new taxes on our overburdened citizens, and also begins to reverse years of government overspending through program streamlining, I do have concerns about some of his proposed cuts to various individual line items.
As debate on the 2011-2012 budget begins, know that I will remain committed to representing your interests. I will continue to ensure that Pennsylvania's government recognizes the needs and expectations of its hard-working taxpayers, who want their government to spend their money wisely.
> Read the governor's budget address in its entirety. I want to reiterate that the governor's budget proposal is just that, a proposal. It is reflective of the unprecedented economic situation the Commonwealth is in, and it is designed to put Pennsylvania on a path to solvency. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns you may have about the budget or any state-related matter. I can be reached by calling (215) 489-2126, by e-mail at mquinn@pahousegop.com or through my Web site, RepQuinn.net. |

Bravery and Common Sense Prevail in Wisconsin
Posted March 10th, 2011
In what Reuters is calling "a confrontation with unions that could be the biggest since then President Ronald Reagan fired striking air traffic controllers nearly 30 years ago," the Wisconsin Senate approved a scaled-down version of Governor Scott Walker's (R) budget-repair bill last night that would rein in government union collective bargaining powers. After securing approval from three widely respected nonpartisan agencies-the Legislative Fiscal Bureau, the Legislative Council, and the Legislative Reference Bureau-Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald removed the appropriations measures from Walker's budget, thus eliminating the need for any of the 14 truant Democratic Senators to be present for the vote. The State Assembly will take up the new version of the bill at 11 a.m. today, and if it passes, Walker will have achieved a significant victory for taxpayers everywhere.

Sudan: Congress Moves to Block Obama's "Cookies and Gold Stars" Approach
Posted March 9th, 2011
The Obama Administration has pursued an incentive plan for Sudanese President Omar al Bashir to try and secure his cooperation and support for the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement between Sudan and the nascent independent state of Southern Sudan. One of the Obama Administration's preliminary offers was the removal of Sudan from the state sponsors of terrorism list. Aside from rewarding Bashir (accused by the U.S. of genocide in Darfur) for promises of support that may prove ephemeral and are certainly unenforceable, it would also willfully ignore the possibility that Sudan may still be supporting at least one group-the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA)-included on the Terrorist Exclusion List as directed by Section 212(1)(3) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(3)) of the U.S.

Ten Don'ts for Our Government on Gas Prices

As gas prices in the United States continue to soar, policymakers in Washington are eager to point fingers and offer solutions. Most of the ideas are not new, and some are certainly much better than others, but they will inevitably be part of the debate. As legislators turn their attention to gas prices, here's a straightforward list of what not to do.

FamilyFacts.org: Education Spending Skyrockets While Achievement Remains Flat
Posted March 9th, 2011
Does the United States spend enough on education? Many messages in the media and from Capitol Hill would suggest that there is a dearth of taxpayer dollars spent on American education today and that if the U.S. can only spend more, student achievement will flourish.
However, years of increased spending have led only to bigger budgets and bloated bureaucracy-not improved student achievement-and have similarly failed to empower those with the greatest stake in a child's education: the family.
Research shows that families play a large role in a child's educational success.

Government Unions vs Middle Class Jobs
Posted March 9th, 2011
In the Sunday New York Times, Paul Krugman argued that the only way to "restore the middle-class society we used to have" is by shoring up collective bargaining rights for unions-"so that ordinary workers as well as superstars have the power to bargain for good wages."
The same day, a Washington Post op-ed went further, claiming that "public workers' pay, benefits, and bargaining rights" are not "what is really at stake" in the Wisconsin fight. No, the authors argued, Gov. Scott Walker (R) is waging war on the middle class by trying to bust unions that "want to make good middle-class jobs the norm."

UPDATE: DOJ Asks for Expedited Review of Obamacare Loss
Posted March 9th, 2011
After weeks of delay, the Obama Administration finally went ahead and did it.
Early last night, the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a notice of appeal in Florida v. HHS, the multi-state lawsuit that has the best chance of striking down Obamacare. And this morning, DOJ filed a motion in the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals for expedited review of the case, which was a condition the district judge imposed on the DOJ to grant its request for a stay of the judgment pending appeal.

On Thursday's Program
Wisconsin passes collective bargaining ban without Dems
It's hard to look at these Democrats as anything but sore losers - nobody wanted Obamacare either, but had to sit and take it because Dems had control. Republicans showed up to work, argued and voted against it. These guys are acting like a bunch of 2 year olds who don't want to eat their peas. Serves them right for abandoning the state for 3 weeks. The bill now heads to the state assembly for approval. Get the complete details from The Blaze HERE.
Sore losers attack police (video)
Protesters swarmed the Capitol after the GOP passed the collective bargaining ban, and because it was after hours police had to try and prevent them from entering. The violent mob then burst through the police and the conflict was caught on tape. You can view the stunning video of the reckless, violent Wisconsin protesters HERE. Send death threats to Wis. GOP

We would flourish," writes Thomas Woods, author of the new book Rollback. In this exclusive Op-Ed, Woods examines the imminent crisis facing America's numerous entitlement programs, and takes a look at the attitude that the current government has which clearly believes man is incapable of ruling himself. Read Wood's Op-Ed HERE and check out his new book Rollback: Repealing Big Government Before the Coming Fiscal Collapse. ATTENTION MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Gas prices are up 67% since Obama took office.
