Vogue celebrates the glamorous Asma al-Assad of Syria. The 3, 000 word puff piece in Vogue on the stylish wife of Bashar al-Assad seems to have failed to mention that their regime is about to be indicted as serial mass murderers in the 2005 Rafiq Hariri bombing and has been effective in crushing disturbance's in Syria.
Who me? a mass murderer? Torturing my own citizens? I am as innocent as a school girl, a voguish and stylish, pampered school girl. Of course, her husband must be popular, he got 97% of the vote in 2000.
Daniel Pipes had an interesting blog on the glamorous women of Middle Eastern dictators. Every once in awhile, I begin to understand the Wahhabi's point about wretched excess. Glamorous Muslim Political Women Muslim women, not what you would think.

Obama's Record Deficit
According to new figures released by the Congressional Budget Office, the Obama Administration ran a record deficit last month of $223 billion. Let me repeat that: The Obama Administration ran a deficit LAST MONTH of $223 billion.
For Democrats who like to blame George W. Bush for Obama's mess, here is some perspective: Obama's monthly deficit of $223 billion is more than the Bush Administration's deficit for all of 2007!
News of this record monthly deficit barely made the evening news last night because the left-wing media is too busy portraying congressional Republicans as extremists for proposing $61 billion in budget cuts. Yet that amount is barely more than one-quarter of last month's deficit! Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are barely trying to cut spending. Their proposal amounts to less than $5 billion in cuts.
Cut ObamaCare
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is leading the charge to eliminate more than $100 billion in automatic spending that is "baked into" ObamaCare. The funds were discovered in a recent analysis by the Congressional Research Service. The spending was, as Bachmann states, "broken up and buried" throughout the 2,000-plus page bill. The Congressional Research Service broke it all down in an eight-page table.
Bachmann has made headlines in recent days for accusing congressional Democrats of orchestrating a "legislative fraud of the highest order" by pre-authorizing these funds in last year's healthcare "reform" law. She has also accused the Obama Administration of being a "gangster government" that is defined by corruption.
Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh posed an interesting question to his listeners. He asked them what kind of a candidate they wanted the GOP to nominate against Barack Obama. Do they want someone who will question him on policy issues only, hoping to appeal to independent voters? Or do they want someone who will challenge Obama not only on policy, but also take him on personally, as Michele Bachmann has done, even if it risks offending potential swing voters.
I'd appreciate your feedback. Do you think Bachmann is over the top or on the money? Please use this link to respond.
Cut Mosque Construction Funds
A recent report from a Georgia TV station has gone viral with the news that the Obama Administration is using our tax dollars to refurbish mosques overseas. The $770 million program is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, which is run by the State Department. And this Washington Post article notes that the U.S. military is also funding "mosque refurbishment projects" in Afghanistan.
This program has been going on for some time. A July 2009 audit by the Office of the Inspector General questioned the constitutionality of the program, which, according to the Washington Times, is prohibited from refurbishing structures used for "inherently religious activities."
So let's get this straight: The left doesn't hesitate to ban prayers in schools, at football games and graduation ceremonies, and prohibits the posting of the Ten Commandments or crosses on public grounds. But it has no problem using our tax dollars to fix up mosques? We are going to do everything we can to get Congress to stop this outrage!
Call To Defund Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood, America's largest abortion business, receives $350 million annually from taxpayers in the form of government grants and contracts, even though it makes tens of millions of dollars in yearly profits. A continuing resolution passed last month by the House of Representatives to fund federal agencies through the end of fiscal year 2011 included the Pence Amendment, which defunds Planned Parenthood. Unfortunately, the Pence Amendment was left out of a two-week continuing resolution that funds government through March 18th.
Congress will soon vote on a seven-month continuing resolution to fund the federal government through the end of the fiscal year. Please call your congressmen at 202-224-3121. Insist that defunding Planned Parenthood be non-negotiable on any continuing resolution.
Add NPR To The List
If we needed another reason to cut off taxpayer subsidies to National Public Radio it came today in the form of an undercover video provided by James O'Keefe, the conservative activist responsible for the pimp and prostitute stings that took down ACORN.
In the video, two men posing as members of a Muslim Brotherhood foundation offer Ron Schiller and Betsy Liley, top NPR executives, $5 million to counter the "Zionist coverage [that] is quite substantial elsewhere." Schiller and Liley don't object. When the fake Muslim donors jokingly refer to NPR as "National Palestinian Radio," Schiller laughed.
When the topic changes to the Republican Party and the Tea Party, Schiller opens up. He says the GOP has been hijacked by a "weird evangelical kind of move." He accuses the Tea Party movement of being "really xenophobic... seriously racist, racist people."
And there was another revealing admission. While NPR's CEO held a press conference yesterday defending its taxpayer subsidies, Schiller was asked by O'Keefe's associates if NPR could survive without federal funding. He responded, saying, "Yes, NPR would definitely survive and most of the stations would survive."
I don't know about you, but I think Mr. Schiller has made some of the best arguments I've heard in a long time for defunding NPR.

March 8, 2011 12:00 A.M. Union Myths Private-sector workers haven't been immune to unions' deleterious effects as government workers have.
The biggest myth about labor unions is that unions are for workers. Unions are for unions, just as corporations are for corporations and politicians are for politicians.
Nothing shows the utter cynicism of the unions and the politicians who do their bidding like the so-called "Employee Free Choice Act" that the Obama administration tried to push through Congress. Employees' free choice as to whether to join a union is precisely what that legislation would destroy. |

RedState Morning Briefing
For March 9, 2011
1. Reid: NEA Saving Lives via Cowboy Poetry
When it comes to cutting budgets, everything is on the table with the Democratic leadership of the Senate. Absolutely everything, everything, up to and including cowboy poetry festivals.
Or maybe not.
2. Now is the Time to Pass an ANWR Bill
In 1995, the Republican-controlled House and Senate passed a balanced budget act, which contained a provision to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) for oil drilling and exploration. On December 6th of that year, President Bill Clinton vetoed the bill, ensuring that not a drop of oil would be extracted from the barren land of this 20 million acre area. We have literally been paying for this veto for the past 15 years.
This gargantuan frozen tundra in the northeast corner of Alaska contains the most oil of any single untapped source within the borders of the U.S. According to the mean average estimate of the U.S. Geological Survey, there are at least 10.3 billion barrels of oil in ANWR. Most of this oil can be tapped through a drilling imprint of just 2,000 acres, or .01%, of the reserve area. In addition, there is an estimated 35 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in ANWR. Only an insidious gang of politicians hell-bent on undermining our national security, economic prosperity, and free market capitalism, could be so intransigent to impound this treasure from the American people.
3. Military Intervention In Libya Is A Bad Idea
One of the immutable laws of politics is that the Democrat party will refuse to use military intervention in any location where the US has strategic geopolitical or trade interests. The corollary to that law is that there is no Third World craphole (see Somalia, Darfur, Haiti) to which the Democrats will not offer to send US troops so long as it is high risk and with no real purpose.
One must understand both these rules to comprehend the calls coming from the left demanding US intervention in Libya.
4. The Monsters of McMinnville, Oregon: Radical teachers' union gets MEAn
In a sleepy little suburb outside of Portland, Oregon, there is a monster lurking in the classroom, teaching schoolchildren their three Rs-Reading, Radicalism & Reprisal. The monster is known as the McMinnville Education Association [MEA].
McMinnville School District is in negotiations with the MEA (hereafter to be known as MEAn) and has been since last year (with the occasional help of a mediator), with the parties being millions apart. However, according to local press reports, with a state school budget crisis, while some progress has been made, so far an agreement has been elusive.
5. Open Secrets, Closed Eyes
I have tended to be a big fan of Open Secrets, a website by a lefty group that shows how money is spent in politics. The nice thing is that they provide data. And the nice thing about data is that it gives you good apples-to-apples comparisons. Based on data, you can argue things like "the largest donors and lobbyists in Wisconsin are the teachers unions" and have something to back that up with.
So I was really disappointed to read this recent piece by Michael Beckel at Open Secrets entitled "Union Muscle Eclipsed by High-Profile Conservative Groups During 2010 Election". They reviewed the publicly disclosed spending information and concluded that the unions spent less money than American Crossroads, the Chamber, et al. in the 2010 cycle. In particular, they found that the unions spent $46.7m while business groups spent $97m or so. There's a catch though. AFSCME, the largest of the public employee unions, told the New York Times that they spent $91m.

Rep. Bachmann Helps Expose Secret Stash of Obamacare Cash
Posted March 7th, 2011
You'd think that billions of dollars in government spending would be hard to hide, especially from the Members of Congress who voted for it. Think again.
Buried in the 2,700 pages of last year's Obamacare legislation lies $105 billion in appropriated funds that bureaucrats are already using to implement Obamacare. On Sunday's "Meet the Press," Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) brought that news to light when the subject turned to budget cuts.

Defund Obamacare's Secret Stash
Posted March 8th, 2011
While Obamacare is rightly notorious as a fiscal nightmare, less well known is just how massively it transferred power from Congress to the executive branch. In fact, the full scope of Congress's abdication is still unknown. What is now known, however, is that deeply buried within Obamacare was a $105 billion slush fund that assures its implementation into the future, no matter what future voters think or want.
This makes then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi's comment to the Legislative Conference for National Association of Counties about Obamacare, "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it," made a year ago tomorrow, ironically prescient.

UN Security Council Resolution on Libya Lacks Foresight
Posted March 7th, 2011
The United Nations has responded in several ways to the Libyan regime's terrible acts over the past few weeks. None of those actions, including the premature referral of Libyan to the International Criminal Court, have seemingly given Muammar Qadhafi much concern. Attacks continue, people are dying, and Qadhafi remains intent to stay in power. The carnage has increased calls for the United States and other countries to intervene in Libya by imposing a no-fly zone or undertaking more robust actions. Indeed.

Foreign Aid Does Not Guarantee Security (Human or Otherwise)
Posted March 7th, 2011
In the midst of Congress's roaring debate over budget cuts, Assistant Secretary of State Eric Schwartz weighed in last week to decry any talk of cutting foreign aid in a letter he titled "Human Security Is National Security." Civilian and humanitarian foreign aid, he argued, supports our national security interests and "reinforces our nation's role as an international leader."

A similar disaster could result from space weather, according to an article in National Geographic.
A solar storm begins with hot gas from the sun hitting the earth's atmosphere, causing an electromagnetic catastrophe. A few weeks ago, the world experienced the largest solar storm since 2007; it caused radio communications problems and a disruption of civil aviation.

THE "POWERS" OF THIS PRESIDENT...... WILL THE U.S. SUPREME COURT EVER INTERVENE????
March 07, 2011 The Powers of This President By Jack Curtis Not all the powers President Obama has wielded or claimed seem clearly identifiable in the U.S. Constitution. Whether that is tolerable or even desirable appears to require consideration since the entire point of having a constitution is to limit government in the hope of fending off tyranny.
Our President wouldn't be the first to act extra-constitutionally; the pattern goes far back into U.S. history. The famous slippery slope describes that history; earlier events made smaller blips on the power horizon and later ones loom larger. Sometimes, the Supreme Court has stepped in, as exemplified by Presidents Roosevelt and Truman.
President Obama though, may have outdone any of his predecessors in exerting such powers and in avoiding much juridical or public reaction in so doing. In effect, if that observation is correct, the Constitution might be decreasingly interesting history.

HHS Secretary Sebelius admits to double-counting Obamacare budget
Liberal economics
During a hearing on Capitol Hill Thursday, the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) admitted to double-counting in the Obamacare budget.
In her first appearance before the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee since the health-care law passed, Kathleen Sebelius responded to a line of questioning by Republican Rep. John Shimkus of Illinois about whether $500 billion in Medicare cuts were used to sustain the program or pay for the law.

Liberals vs. SCOTUS conservatives
Libs want cons off the Court
Still reeling from a 2010 Supreme Court ruling that opened the door to an explosion of political ads from corporate interests and fearful the court could overturn President Barack Obama's healthcare overhaul, liberal groups have launched an aggressive - and, at times, personal - attack on the court's most conservative justices.
The sharp questioning of the impartiality and ethics of Justices Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia and, to a lesser extent, Samuel Alito, represent the most concerted attack on a bloc of justices since the early 1970s, when conservatives waged a long campaign against the liberal justices of the Warren court, most notably Justices William O. Douglas and Abe Fortas.

New Common Sense
Applying First Principles to the Issues of Today |
Madison's Factions in Wisconsin
The future of democracy is at stake in Wisconsin. According to Paul Krugman, "what Mr. Walker and his backers are trying to do is to make Wisconsin - and eventually, America - less of a functioning democracy and more of a third-world-style oligarchy."
Thousands stormed the Wisconsin state capitol to protest Scott Walker (the "Mubarak of Madison") and his proposals for public-sector unions. Over the past few weeks, state Senators hid out in an Illinois Motel 6, protesters littered war memorials with posters and pamphlets, doctors wrote fake notes for "sick" teachers, yoga class moved to the rotunda, and a camel from The Daily Show slipped on the icy sidewalks. But rest assured, proclaimed the crowd in matching mass-produced t-shirts, "this is what democracy looks like."
James Madison would disagree. A public-sector union protest is not the essence of democracy. In reality, public-sector unions are a faction, and therefore dangerous to popular government.
"By a faction" James Madison explains in Federalist 10, "I understand a number of citizens, whether amounting to a majority or minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community."
Public-sector unions are indeed a group united and motivated by a narrow interest (to maintain job security, cushy benefits, steady streams of cash, and the collective bargaining privileges that enable it all). The problem is that this interest directly challenges the common good of the political community. As one New York Supreme Court judge warned in 1943, "Nothing is more dangerous to public welfare than to admit that hired servants of the State can dictate to the government the hours, the wages and conditions under which they will carry on essential services vital to the welfare, safety, and security of the citizen." Growing out of the Progressive movement's emphasis on the scientific administration, public-sector unions have a monopoly on public services. Consequently, taxpayers cannot go elsewhere for the services they receive from government. "They're stuck paying taxes, and stuck having to depend on the government for services like driver's licenses, garbage pickup, and the many other (often too many) services provided by state and local government." Therefore, when a public-sector union strikes, it halts the activity of government, and paralyzes the community until it surrenders to the union's demands. Moreover, where does the money come from to pay public-sector union employees their generous salaries and pensions? Like all government money, it ultimately comes from the taxpayer. When a public-sector union collectively bargains for higher wages or more expensive benefits packages, they are negotiating to take money from the whole community of tax payers and give it to the few members of the public-sector union.
To be sure, public-sector unions are different from private-sector unions. If Apple employees go on strike, then iPads will be unavailable. But, if teachers go on strike (or follow the Wisconsin model of calling in "sick"), then public schools will close. The Wisconsin public-sector union protests are not the pinnacle of democracy-they are its nadir. These public-sector unions are factions in action: they are a group of citizens motivated by their narrow self-interest in maintaining high salaries, benefits, and job security at the expense of the rest of the state's well-being. Factions are "the mortal diseases under which popular governments have everywhere perished." But, Madison's "republican remedy for the diseases most incident to republican government" is to destroy factions by expanding the number of interests. This suggests breaking the monopoly of public-sector unions and encouraging competition. Let's hope that it is not too late for popular government in Wisconsin.

Republican Lawmaker Accuses HHS Secretary of Budget Shenanigans: 'Youre Double Counting' (CNSNews.com) - Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted at a House hearing last week that $500 billion in Medicare cuts contained in the Democrats health care law is being counted in two ways: both to shore up Medicare and to fund health-care reform. There is an issue here on the budget, because your own actuary has said, you cant double-count, Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) told Sebelius.

COMMENTARY:
It's Their War, Not Ours
By Patrick J. Buchanan Before the United States plunges into a third war in the Middle East, let us think this one through, something we did not do before the last two. To establish a secure no-fly zone over Libya, we would have to bomb radar installations, anti-aircraft batteries, missile sites and airfields, and destroy the Libyan air force on the ground, to keep the skies secure for U.S. pilots. These would be acts of war against a nation that has not attacked us. Where do we get the legal and moral right to do this? Has Congress, which alone has the power to declare war, authorized Barack Obama to attack Libya?
Handouts, Morality and Common Sense
By Walter E. Williams Whether Americans realize it or not, the last decade's path of congressional spending is unsustainable. Spending must be reined in, but what spending should be cut? I think it is immoral for Congress to forcibly take one American's earnings and give them to another American to whom they do not belong. Close to two-thirds of the federal budget, so-called entitlements, represent what thieves do: redistribute income. We might ask ourselves whether acts that are clearly immoral and despicable when done privately are any less so when done by Congress.

Obama: Impeach and Convict Now! By Larry Klayman, WND.com
During the Clinton presidency, after just a few years of mounting scandal, including the Chinagate affair - where the Bonnie and Clyde of American politics, "Bill and Hill," illegally laundered millions of dollars in contributions to their legal-defense fund and the president's re-election campaign coffers - Howard Phillips of The Conservative Caucus and I rounded up a group of other conservatives, the so-called "great right-wing conspiracy," and asked then-Rep. Bob Barr, a Republican from Georgia, to introduce articles of impeachment. Bob heeded the call and dutifully did so. It was clear at the time that the nation was on the verge of a crisis - as the president and first lady had subverted the Constitution in a number of ways (documented in my book Whores)...
While I firmly believe that Obama, Hillary Clinton, and many Democrats around them have been, as in Chinagate more than a decade earlier, bribed by foreign regimes - such as the radical Islamic regime in Iran - I cannot prove it at this time. However, from what has already occurred, the offenses of the "mullah in chief" are "already" so compelling as to warrant immediate impeachment and conviction for his high crimes and misdemeanors, before the United States is totally destroyed by him...
Here is just a partial list of the most impeachable and convictable of President Obama's offenses.... |

Debt commission chairmen rip GOP, Obama budget plans
By Erik Wasson - 03/08/11 12:09 PM ET
The former co-chairmen of the president's bipartisan debt commission on Tuesday blasted both President Obama's 2012 budget and congressional Republican plans to cut spending.
The two chairmen said both would fail to ward off a future economic crisis due to out of control debt.
Chairman Alan Simpson, a former Wyoming Republican senator, told the Senate Budget Committee both plans are "light" budget proposals. He said with the current plans on the table, foreign governments within two years will likely realize the U.S. has done too little to address the deficit and start selling off their holdings of U.S. debt.

Obama's War on Free Speech Heats Up By Dr. Mark W. Hendrickson, FloydReports.com
Free speech has always been one of our most cherished rights. It has come under attack repeatedly by those who find it to be an inconvenient and unwanted obstacle to the attainment of their political goals. Sometimes, those in positions of power ignore the First Amendment and issue laws and regulations to silence their opponents. Other times, politicians or citizens work on an unofficial level, resorting to influence or intimidation to achieve censorship...
The assault on free speech seems to have accelerated in recent years. Freelance censors on the Left have.... |

Doctor Death Defeated? Dems Pull the Plug on Donald Berwick By Steven Ertelt, LifeNews.com
Senate Democrats have officially given up their fight to confirm Donald Berwick, the rationing advocate President Barack Obama nominated to become the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the chief implementer of Obamacare.
Berwick has been deluged with criticism from pro-life advocates, who cite his fondness for rationing and his failure to level with a Senate committee about his pro-rationing views.... |

A message to all members of Patriot Action Network

Dear Patriot,
In February the Barack Obama-led federal government posted the largest monthly deficit in U.S. history -- an amount larger than the deficit for the entire year of 2007:
Federal budget deficit, February 2011: $223 Billion
Federal budget deficit, all of 2007: $160.7 Billion
Barack Obama's government is running up larger deficits in a MONTH than the government posted in a YEAR just a few years ago.
Meanwhile in Congress, according to the Washington Times, "a top Senate Democrat said his party can accept no more than $6 billion in domestic cuts."
$6 BILLION!!!!! What about the $223 BILLION deficit from February alone!
+ + Showdown Coming by March 18
A crucial showdown will take place by March 18 in Congress over the Continuing Resolution (CR). Democrats are threatening to reject the House G.O.P. plan to cut $57 billion in spending for the rest of this fiscal year. They say those cuts are too much.
Meanwhile, union agitators, the White House and leftist leaders like Michael Moore are creating a revolt IN FAVOR OF MORE GOVERNMENT AND MORE SPENDING!
Patriots, WE ARE ABOUT TO LOSE OUR COUNTRY!
If union agitators succeed in bullying governors like Scott Walker and impose their statist agenda at any price, we will lose our country.
If liberal statists in the Senate impose their will on this Congress and continue runaway spending, we will lose our country!
What can you do?
If you want to send a message both to Congress and the state leaders under assault right now, go here and sign the Stop The Spending petition:
http://www.grassfire.com/149/petition.asp?ref_id=500064
Then, rally your friends by forwarding this message and posting this link on Facebook.
We will deliver your petition to Senate leaders before the key votes.
Don't be deceived. The Left is using Wisconsin to rally its base and IMPOSE ITS WILL OF BIGGER GOVERNMENT AND MORE SPENDING. They are trying to take the high moral ground staked out over the past two years by patriotic, Tea Party citizens.
And they will succeed IF YOU REMAIN SILENT.
Thank you for taking action.

Dear Fellow Conservative,
Last week, my colleagues and I were shocked and appalled to find a provision in the Obamacare bill which appropriates $105 billion towards its funding- a complete and fraudulent circumvention of the legislative process.
In the bill, instead of following the rules and letting the next Congress go through the appropriations process, Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats appropriated billions of dollars in funding for Obamacare without holding a single hearing, or even allowing Members of Congress a chance to read the bill. I guess this is what Nancy Pelosi meant when she said "we have to pass the bill, so you can find out what is in it." Even Democrats in Congress were surprised to hear this shocking news.
Without further action, the bill will be funded, and our efforts will have failed.
I've drafted a petition, and recorded a special video message, to ensure that ObamaCare is defunded. I urge you to immediately take a minute to sign this petition and watch the video by following this link. We must immediately send a message to every Member of Congress that even a single dollar more of federal spending is unacceptable until Obamacare is defunded.
In order to really put pressure on Congress to take immediate action, we need to collect hundreds of thousands of signatures from like-minded conservatives. So, after signing the petiton you will have the opportunity to make an emergency contribution to help us distribute this petition to millions of activists around the country. Any amount you can give today brings us one step closer to defunding Obamacare. On Tuesday, I will meet with Members of Congress to discuss immediate plans to rescind this existing funding, and return Obamacare's fate to the hands of the people, who overwhelming rejected it in November's elections. At Tuesday's meeting, I will challenge Members of Congress to stand against the undemocratic actions of the Reid-Pelosi-Obama apparatus, and vote against any additional government spending until Obamacare is completely defunded.
I need to know you are 100 percent behind my efforts to expose the back-room dealings and secretive tactics Pelosi and Obama have tried to use. I need to know you want Obamacare defunded once and for all. Follow this link right away to sign the petition to defund Obamacare! In November, the American people clearly and emphatically cast their ballots against Obamacare and the big-government agenda advanced by Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. We must stand our ground to defund Obamacare, and we must move quickly to make sure that no taxpayer money is spent on our watch. By signing my petition, you will tell Congress where you stand: against the undemocratic and secretive actions of Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats, and for our shared Constitutional conservative values.
Please take action before it is too late!
Finally, I ask that you share this petition on Facebook, and forward this email to your friends and family to spread the word. It is our charge to stop this unconstitutional government take-over of our lives!
Sincerely,

Michele Bachmann
P.S. As a constitutional conservative, I am motivated now more than ever to repeal Obamacare and the first step towards this goal is making sure that it doesn't receive a dime of your tax dollars. Although House Republicans voted overwhelmingly last month to defund the Obamacare law, our vote does not apply to the billions already secretly and fraudulently appropriated by the old Democratic Congress. I need your immediate help to send a message to every Member of Congress. We must immediately defund Obamacare! Please follow this link to sign this petition and pass this email along to your friends and family to spread the word. Thank you!

Some conservatives are moaning about the weak field of prospective GOP candidate for the 2012 race. On the sidelines at the moment are Jeb Bush, Christ Christie, Mike Pence, Paul Ryan, and Marco Rubio. Several of these people seem like stronger potential nominees than anyone in the current field. Their absence from the race might be a result of their concluding that Obama is likely to win in 2012, and the open seat race in 2016 looks like a better prospect. But I would caution people that things are not always what they seem to be. In early 1991, George Herbert Walker Bush had sky high approval ratings after the successful Gulf War. The leading Democrats- Mario Cuomo, Bill Bradley, Al Gore, Dick Gephardt, all took a pass. A little known Governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton entered the race, and wound up the nominee, competing against Bob Kerrey, Paul Tsongas, Jerry Brown, and Tom Harkin. And then two things happened-the economy went into a mild recession, and a strange man, Ross Perot , arrived on the scene, and spent $60 million on a third party candidacy that won him 19% of the popular vote. And Clinton became President . Do not take this as an endorsement- but is Tim Pawlenty any less well known today than Clinton was in early 1991? Unemployment is far higher now than in 1992. The budget deficit is far larger and scarier. America looks more clueless and less powerful abroad every day.

Last November a new Congress was sent to Washington with a mandate from the American people to cut spending, but President Obama continues to push his budget packed with big government programs. Recently, Obama actually released his third budget in a row with a deficit of over $1 trillion -- the first president in history with such a dubious distinction.

On Tuesday's Program
Shocker: NPR execs caught on tape bashing Tea Party, conservatives
The executives bashed conservatives to a group they thought were going to donate money to NPR, saying Tea Parties were "white, middle-America gun-toting. I mean, it's scary. They're seriously racist, racist people." While making sure to highlight how awesome liberals are, "In my personal opinion, liberals today might be more educated, fair and balanced than conservatives." No wonder Hillary wants to abandon all media and go for a state run media like China and Russia. Get the full story HERE.
America's future? Brit preemies left to die to save $$$
A top official in the NHS (Britain's government healthcare system) has made the disturbing claim that premature babies should be left to die because it costs too much money and the success rate isn't all that great. "If it was my child, from all the evidence and information that I know, I would not resuscitate," said Dr. Daphne Austin (who must not have any children and/or has no feeling or emotion). NHS is the system Don Berwick, our top man at the U.S. Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services said he's in 'love' with. Moral of the story? Have your babies now before our government is the one letting kids die to save a couple of bucks. The Blaze has the story.

Schools don't want Obama
Remember when President Obama announced Race to the Top, a program designed to reward schools who perform well to possibly get a visit from President Obama himself. They've had to extend the contest because, as learned from a leaked memo, there is a serious shortage of schools who have actually applied. Maybe if they offer someone more popular, like Charlie Sheen, they'd get some takers? Just sayin. Get the details HERE.
Desperate left: claim callers to talk radio are fake
The left will do anything to try and discredit talk radio. The latest pathetic attempt comes from a bogus claim that callers to talk radio are hired guns paid to agree with the host. What they are trying to get you to believe is that Rush, Sean & Glenn -- who combined are on over 1,000 stations and have 30-50 million listeners per week -- can't get 5 to 10 people to dial in (toll free) and talk for a minute or two on air. Who made the attack? You'll never guess where it originated from (Hint: Spooky Dude) - get the details HERE.
Entrepreneurs: Leading the Way Out
Glenn kicked off the year talking about how important entrepreneurs were to the future of our country. Greg Pesci's Op-Ed examines the role entrepreneurs will take in leading America out of its current troubles. "Entrepreneurs, free to pursue their economic dreams, built America! They are, and always have been, its creators of jobs, growth, and wealth," Pesci writes. Read the entire article HERE.
Not winning: Sheen canned by CBS
Of course, Sheen has brushed off the latest speed bump in his increasingly bizarre life, claiming that he's not worried about it at all. But he should be when the latest batch of headlines include, but are not limited to: 'Roseanne says Sheen makes her look sane' and 'Sheen waves machete on rooftop: 'Free at last.' Get the latest, if you must, on Charlie Sheen HERE.
