Scripture
tells us to ALL become like Jesus:
- To be
"growing in every way more and more like Christ," Ephesians 4:15
- To be
"be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of
Christ," Ephesians 4:13
- To "have
the same attitude that Christ Jesus had," Philippians 2:5
One
of the things that God, by His spirit, wants to do for each of us is to
transform us into Christ-likeness from the inside out. A vital partnership is
required, however, for this to actually happen. God will always do His part -
we need to make sure that we do our part.

Peter 1 contains the closest thing to a spiritual recipe contained in
scripture. This passage contains some incredible promises and clear directives.
Two of these promises are:
- Your life will
always bear fruit if you mature in the way this describes
- You will never
stumble in your life-long journey of walking with Jesus
We
will unpack this passage in the weeks ahead. For now, just realize that God
wants the truths of this scripture to become a catalyst for metamorphosis in
your life. He wants to change your inner shape so that you become just like
Jesus. It doesn't matter if you've been a Christian for fifty seconds or fifty
years, He wants to begin a new work in you right now!
Eight
Christ-like qualities are listed in 2Peter 1:
- Faith
- Moral excellence
- Knowledge
- Self-control
- Perseverance
- Godliness
- Brotherly kindness
- Love
Misconceptions
abound on these given entities. Christians have often depended more on handed
down understandings of these characteristics rather than on biblical truth. We
will come to better understand what these characteristics were originally
intended to convey, what they look like, and how we can attain them for
ourselves. Just knowing about them is not enough. We want to engage in the
action needed to see them become realities in our lives.
Will
you partner with God to pursue these eight life-changing entities? These ought
to characterize who you are! Let these powerful truths seep into your soul in
the weeks ahead. Invite God to morph you into a little Christ.
