Meet the newest member of our staff.

Jon Stinnet has already been a member of the Cowley family for almost half a year.  He brings over 5 years experience.  Said Jon, "People associate pest control with eradicating infestations.  It certainly is that, but it's so much more.  At the end of the day it is about helping families deal and resolve a stressful situation that has taken over their lives.  The part that I really enjoy and what gets me up in the morning is giving people peace of mind."

Sheryl Sheehan, is our office manager maven!  At Cowleys, Sheryl is such a multi-tasker that we sometimes think she has two heads and eight arms in order to keep our day-to-day operations organized.  Sheryl is responsible for our office staff, procedures, customer service, and making appointments. 

 

She has been with Cowleys for 9 years and has been an indispensible part of our team.  She goes a long way in optimizing the effectiveness of our crews and our growth, in no small part, can be attributed to her untiring diligence in getting things done.  Said Sheryl, "From the moment I get into the office, I'm in high gear.  But I would not have it any other way.  It's a great feeling when you are part of a family-oriented company that treats everyone with respect.  The Cowleys priority list never changes:  customer service first, customer service second, and
customer service third."  As Cowleys front-line representative, Sheryl makes every customer feel special.

 

Our newest dog, Sherlock, is a Beagle-mix.  What he's mixed with, other than Beagle, is anybody's guess.  It's generally recognized that Beagles make the best scent detection dogs since they technically are not dogs - they are hounds.  Our vet says that the "scent cells" of a Beagle are so plentiful that they would cover the body of a dog.  Human scent cells, on the other hand, would cover the size of a postage stamp. 

 

Sherlock will be 2 years old this April (Scout will be 3 years old in September).  Sherlock is a rescue dog from a town called Big Canoe in Georgia.  He, like our first dog Scout, was also trained to detect the presence of odor of live bed bugs and viable bed bug eggs by the J & K Canine Academy in Gainesville, FL.  The J & K Canine Academy, owned by Pepe Peruyero (a former Florida Sheriff K-9 officer) is considered to be the best canine training academy in the country.

 

In addition, Sherlock (like Scout) has been certified by the National Entomology Scent Detection Canine Association (NESDCA).  He is a very enthusiastic bed bug hunter and enjoys his work.

 

Sherlock weighs 30 pounds, which is much larger than Scout and makes him especially effective when searching in higher places. We are happy to have him on our team!

 

2011 was a great year for Cowleys! And not such a great year for all the pests we exterminated. We look forward to keeping you happy, healthy and pest free this year.
