What's In Our Resource Toolbox?

Our young people today need to be validated more than ever. The average teen spends between seven to ten hours engaged in media daily, they are therefore inundated with messages that equate worth with their personal appearance and performance.

A grade ten girl said to one of our speakers:

"I'm glad you showed the media slides, I haven't been able to really look at myself in the mirror for a long time. Now I realize that I'm quite normal and it's the images that are so tampered with. Thanks so much for encouraging me."

A young student in grade eight wrote:

"I really enjoyed what you had to say. When you shared your stories it really made me realize I made a good choice getting out of my relationship."

Not every note shared is a happy one, a grade ten student shared a story full of regret and consequences. At the end of the note she said:

"I wish you had come to us sooner!"

In 2012 alone, we've already provided over a hundred presentations and reached almost 5000 students with information that encourages them to make healthy decisions in their relationships and in the way they value their lives and the lives around them. We are looking forward to this upcoming school year and are planning on doing many more presentations. Vital Connections

When powerful, family enriching media emerges, we want you to know about it!

An incredible new short film called Crescendo will be making its Canadian theatrical premiere at this year's Vancouver International Film Festival. In order to ensure that this film gets the positive recognition it deserves, we want to fill the theatre with as many people as possible. In order to do that, we have decided to offer a contest to give away several pairs of tickets to this exciting debut! Here's how you can enter:

Share to Win Tickets!

It's easy to get your name entered into the contest - all you have to do is 'share' any of Signal Hill's content on Facebook. Every time you share something, it counts as a separate entry into the draw. So the more times you share, the better chances you have at winning! (Important: you must 'tag' Signal Hill in your post so that we can see that you've shared it and count it for the contest).

Things you could share include:

1) Any of Signal Hill's Facebook status updates.

2) Any or Signal Hill's Facebook photos.

3) A link to this E-Newsletter.

4) Any content from the Signal Hill website. (Each article, event, video or feature on our website has a 'easy share' button at the bottom of it to help you out!)

The draw will happen on September 20th. Best of luck!

Whether you win tickets or not, we invite all of our supporters and anyone else who has a passion for family friendly media to join us to support this film. You can find out more information and purchase tickets to see Crescendo from the Vancouver International Film Festival Website.
