Our Story

This section should really be called "Your Story" because none of our work is even possible without your support and involvement! We have two new opportunites to reach out to women & families and we would like to invite you to contribute by sharing your time, abilities and resources. Take a look at the opportunities below to see where you would like to help out!

New Moms Program
Signal Hill has launched a program for young women who have chosen to keep their baby despite pressure from society and even some friends. We want to help them share their story with other women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. We also want to assist them through the challenging time leading up to, and following the birth of their baby by providing some help with the physical, emotional and financial challenges they may be experiencing. Some of the services we would like to provide include:
financial planning, career and employment counseling, health/nutrition/fitness planning, a day of pampering (e.g. manicure, pedicure, massage and/or makeover). If you or anyone you know is able to donate their time and services to help with our program we would love to hear from you
. Please contact Heather at hmcbride@thesignalhill.com or 604-853-3425.

Family Picnic with Families of Children with Special Needs
This spring, a local organization that supports families of children with special needs is hosting an annual Family Picnic in Abbotsford on Saturday afternoon, May 28th. We are coordinating a team of young people who would like to help out by planning some picnic games for this day. Does this interest you or can you think of someone who would love to be a part of this event? If you are interested, please contact Carmen at cwest@thesignalhill.com or 604-853-3425.

Vital Connections

There is still time to enter Signal Hill's second annual photo contest! This year, we have chosen the theme, Diversity. In a world where children conceived with disabilities are at risk of being aborted, baby girls in Asia face a daunting gendercide and elderly feel like a burden on society, it is more important than ever to emphasize the value of diversity!

We invite you to submit your photos that celebrate the wonderfully diverse mixture of people in our society. From adoptive families to multi-generational photos to precious children with disabilities, the possibilities are endless!

The winning image will prominently appear on the front of Signal Hill's next publication of Clarity with special recognition of its photographer. We will also announce the winner on Facebook, Twitter and on our website, thesignalhill.com. The winning applicant will also win a $250.00 cash prize!

Would this contest interest any of your friends or family? Pass the information on to them to help us spread the word!

For more information visit our website.

Signal Hill's Value of Diversity Photo Contest begins April 11, 2011 and closes at midnight on June 20, 2011.
