Signal Hill recently partnered with one of our Member Groups to run a bathroom stall campaign that invited women to text our helpline to receive help and support if they think they might be pregnant. Here is one of the conversations:

Rae: Info

SH: Hi, my name is Nicole.  How can I help you?

Rae: Well I think I might be pregnant.

SH: Have you already taken a pregnancy test? If not, I can find a centre in your area that offers free ones.

Rae: No I haven't taken one yet. I had sex for the first time and I didn't get my period last month so I'm a little worried.  That would be great, thank you.

SH: The best thing to do at this stage is confirm if you are actually pregnant or not. Which city are you in?

Rae: [city]

SH: You should check out the [pregnancy centre]. They can give you a free test and help you out with your next steps. They are free and confidential.

SH: The phone number to reach them is [phone number]

Rae: Thank you so much for your help.

SH: You are very welcome. Let me know if you need any more info

Rae: Okay, do I just text this number if I need help with anything else?

SH: Yes, I can help you out whenever you need.

Rae: Thank you Nicole!

SH: You're welcome!

Because life is inherently valuable.

We are pleased to announce Signal Hill's second annual photo contest! This year, we have chosen the theme, Diversity. In a world where children conceived with disabilities are at risk of being aborted, baby girls in Asia face a daunting gendercide and elderly feel like a burden on society, it is more important than ever to emphasize the value of diversity!

We invite you to submit your photos that celebrate the wonderfully diverse mixture of people in our society. From adoptive families to multi-generational photos to precious children with disabilities, the possibilities are endless!

The winning image will prominently appear on the front of Signal Hill's next publication of Clarity with special recognition of its photographer. We will also announce the winner on Facebook, Twitter and on our website, thesignalhill.com. The winning applicant will also win a $250.00 cash prize!

We are looking for photos that are clear, positive and creative to use on our informative website, life-affirming print materials and outreach media. The winning image will be selected based on photographic quality and relevance to this year's theme, Diversity.

Would this contest interest any of your friends or family? Pass the information on to them to help us spread the word!

For more information visit our website.

Signal Hill's Value of Diversity Photo Contest begins April 11, 2011 and closes at midnight on June 20, 2011.
