We're Celebrating Good Times! |
|
Greetings!
The month of March is filled with celebrations! At Samuel Music, we're celebrating 65 years in business! While the first day of spring has us hoping for warmer weather, leprechauns will have us searching for gold and wearing green this month! In addition to preparing for our anniversary sale, we've been in the news for a variety of events, and now have a forum for you to chat and post want ads for other musicians throughout the midwest. So, in the words of Kool & The Gang, "Celebrate good times, come on!"

Musicians Looking For... Other Musicians!
Did "you and some guys from school have a band and try real hard?" Did "Jimmy quit and Jody get married?" We know the story (and the lyrics)...which is why we decided to develop an online forum for musicians to find and chat with other musicians! It's simple! Just go to our new site,
www.midwestmusicians.com!
Click on the "forum" tab at the top of the page and start making connections. While you're at it, review some gear, talk about venues, and even promote your band! Besides, Jimmy may be ready to whip out that old six string again!

Looking for Speed!

It would probably be safe to say that we've had lots of little drummer boys and girls in our stores over the past few weeks! Several customers walked up to our drumometer to test their single-stroke drumming skills, while others took a bit more convincing to try it out! Whatever the case, we've been on a hunt to find the fastest drummer! Some walked away frustrated and others left surprised. Yet, a couple of weeks and newscasts later, it's safe to say we've found the fastest drummer!
Congratulations to Kaleb Luelschow from St. Joseph, IL! The 458 single strokes he scored in 30 seconds helped him win our fastest drummer competition! Kaleb won a Yamaha Ndugu Chancler Signature Snare.
Champaign news was there!

Kill the Silence:
Neoga Students Sing Out Against Drugs

Samuel Music has been providing students at Neoga High School with instruments so they can take a stand against drugs and violence in their upcoming album, Kill the Silence. The album is part of the Nobody's Fool CD project, a class activity started in 1999 by teacher Martin Gibson. The activity was created to help combat the growing drug problem in American teenagers. With the help of teacher Steven Poggendorf and the Poetry Club students, the Nobody's Fool project has grown from a class activity into a school-wide undertaking. Kill the Silence, when released, will be the 12th album produced by the rural Illinois school and will include four songs written, performed, and recorded by students at the school. From experimentation to addiction, students tell the story of drug usage in a voice that is rarely found in health textbooks and documentaries: their own.
A community CD release party is to be held on March 29th at 6:00 p.m. in the Neoga City Building. For more information, contact Marty Gibson (NHS) at (217)-895-2205 or mgibson@neoga.k12.il.us.
