This year was a milestone for Yamaha and Samuel Music. It marked the 50th anniversary of Yamaha's entry into the U.S., and recognition for Samuel Music Company as being the second oldest Yamaha dealer in the entire United States.
Since 1887, when it began producing reed organs, the Yamaha Corporation in Japan (then Nippon Gakki Co., Ltd.) has grown to become the world's largest manufacturer of a full line of musical instruments. With divisions that manufacture audio/visual products, semiconductors and other computer related products, sporting goods, home appliances and furniture, specialty metals, machine tools, and industrial robots, many people don't realize that the company's roots started in music. Yamaha established its U.S. presence in 1960 by forming Yamaha Corporation of America. Subsidiaries include commercial audio, electronics, and automotive, with music being the largest. Within the Music Marketing Group there are several divisions, including sound, pianos and guitars, music products, band and orchestra, and artists. Yamaha is a company committed to supporting music education and promoting the enjoyment of music. In 1966 the company established Yamaha Music Foundation, which creates and supports music programs around the world.Samuel Music feels extremely fortunate to have been honored by this 50th Anniversary award from Yamaha. It's always nice when someone acknowledges you for being an important part of their success. Maybe we should be giving Yamaha an award next year when we celebrate our 65th anniversary in the music business, because they have certainly been an integral part of our success as well. I think our long standing partnership with Yamaha may be because we share some common goals...supplying the best possible products to our customers, backed with excellent service, so our customers can really experience the joy of creating music. We Stepped it Up!
Our recent Step-Up Nights were a huge success! It was in with the old and out with the new as many band students took advantage of the savings and our new financing program. Congrats to all, we hope you're enjoying your new instruments!
IMEA District V Festival
The staff of Samuel Music  enjoyed a wonderful day of music and camaraderie at the IMEA, District V Festival on 11/20. Participating in this event proved a great opportunity to show the advancing strides that SMC is taking to better service the local band and orchestra community. Our display included new "Step Up to Yamaha" promotional instruments, a large selection of reeds and accessories, and a customary "Free of Charge" emergency repair station so to make sure that the attending students were supplied with the means to perform what they'd been practicing so diligently for. In the picture, you'll see a couple of lovely participants checking out our new instruments. Many thanks go out to those that helped to provide such a great learning opportunity for these young musicians.
